GMC, formerly the General Motors Truck Company, or the GMC Truck and Coach Division, is a division of the American automobile manufacturer General Motors that primarily focuses on trucks and utility vehicles. GMC currently makes SUVs, pickup trucks, vans, and light-duty trucks, catered to a premium based market.

As the middle child of the popular General Motors family that includes the Cadillac Escalade and the Chevrolet Tahoe, the GMC Yukon offers all the size and capability of its siblings while attempting to strike a balance between the Chevrolet’s value and the Cadillac’s luxury. The results are mixed. A choice between two gasoline V-8 powertrains—one thirsty, the other thirstier—leaves no alternative for fuel-conscious shoppers. Yukons come in two body styles: the regular-wheelbase Yukon or the long-wheelbase Yukon XL. Faced with stiff competition in a popular class, the case for the Yukon rests on its hauling prowess and its ability to compete on price with more desirable rivals.

I bought my 2013 GMC Acadia new. I had warranty. I maintenance it including the transmission. I have had rear A/C replaced, fuel pump on engine, 4 fuel pumps on the gas tank, accelerator sensor/pedal, the paint rubbed off. This week without warning while driving 65 mph my transmission failed. I heard a clunk and my vehicle died. I made it off the road. It started and would not stay in 3rd gear. Took to dealership and they said they would see what they could do for me. It is dead (catastrophic failure) and out of warranty. I have made 4 years of payments ($700) and have 2-1/2 years of payments left. It is basically sitting in my driveway unusable. Can't get to my new job, can't take my terminally ill son to the doctors, etc. I'm biting my nails as to what they will offer me.

I purchased a 2008 Acadia on February 28, 2013. We love the body style and room in it. However it has been nothing but a thorn in our side. It had 58k miles on it when we got it. Just 10k miles and 4 months later we had to put a transmission in. We've also replaced the alternator, power steering pump, water pump and now we just had another transmission replaced in December (Merry Christmas to me). Not to mention the latest problem needed... a new rack and pinion. I’m not driving mountains or pulling anything with my Acadia. I don't even have a hitch. So it's not like I'm putting major wear and tear on the car. I've talked to GM several times and sent numerous letters. Their response was basically I'm responsible for buying the piece of junk they rolled off the line. When does GM become responsible for what they are producing? This is their product and they should stand behind it. I will never buy another GM product. My 2005 Ford Escape with 213k miles has been the car that got me through while my Acadia was being repaired.

I called GMC for roadside assistance. They took my information & payment, made me wait for 3+ hrs for help & then they cancelled my order without notifying me. I called them back to complain & their response: we will be returning your money back within 3 to 5 days & that i should call the police. GMC needs to stand by their products & services. You need to hire well qualified, trained & reliable staff and/or business partners. This was unprofessional & deceiving to the consumer. My complaints will be recorded with the BBB, Consumer Affairs & Federal Trade Commission. The consumer shouldn't have to go thru this nightmare. If you can't do the job then say that you can't do it. Be honest for once. Word of advise to ALL reading this: DO NOT CALL for GMC roadside assistance - no one will come to help you. Call your insurance company and use their roadside assistance - it FREE and they helped me in 30 min. Hope things will change.

We purchased a used 2008 GMC Acadia from Carl Black in Roswell, GA. At 60,000 miles, transmission had to be rebuilt. At 97,000 miles Solenoid valve and transmission control module assembly replaced. Carl Black tried to rip me off. Originally quoted $1800 to repair. After I told them I was taking car to my trusted mechanic, repair went to $400. I was still ripped off as I signed pages of warranty receipts when I picked up car. Now less than a year later, Stabilitrak light is on. Car only has 108,000 miles. This is the third major repair in three years. I am through with GMC and Carl Black forever. Almost forgot, sunroof leaks.

I bought my 2008 Acadia New from the dealership and I have been in Love with it from the beginning. The biggest issues I've had are my water pump going out in 2013. The rails on floor to moves rows back & forth are a hassle but we've managed to just fold the seats & that's always worked (I got the 8 passenger). A/C has gone bad a couple of times as well. Other than that no major issues. I'm at 180k miles now & it decided it was tired by stalling on me & shaking on the freeway, it read on dash "Engine reducing speed". I was told by a technician that the transmission was going out and not worth putting money in it anymore because it was at the end of the road. I took it to a different tech at a different shop and he said there seems to be nothing wrong with the transmission and it's the suspension, a/c and a few leaks that were not caught which led it to have no coolant & overheating. I have been debating getting a new car because this car has been so good to me and I've driven it from Los Angeles to Arizona, Las Vegas, Lake Arrowhead, & Big Bear every single winter. I'm also a Realtor so I drive a lot. My transmission and engine have never been replaced. So I'm having a hard time parting with it. The second technician that gave me a second opinion also offered me $2500 if I decide to actually part with it. I'm still debating and having a hard time but I think the time has come to say goodbye. :(

My 2013 Acadia has had both Cadillac converters changed. Also I'm currently having problems with radio not working, flashers not sounding, seat belts not making a sound when they're not connected, signals not making a sound when they're flicking, the radio won't play CDs, won't do anything. It shows up stations but you can't hear anything on. It will pop off and on every now and then so I just don't know what's wrong with this car. It is scary because the cost is astronomical to repair if this is electrical problems. Also the car had problems with it. Was water running from somewhere onto my feet after a rain, which I know there were other people who complained of this as well. There's no recall for it but other comments states that it has cause some damage to the electrical wiring. I read this in other reviews, I can not afford this cost, Acadia 2013 owners. But of course with all this going on there's no recalls on any of the issues that I have with this vehicle. How frustrating!!!

2007 GMC Acadia radio and sound issues - About a year and a half ago, we started experiencing problems with having no sounds for the radio, blinkers, seat belt, back up warning sound that a child or something is behind the vehicle etc. This is definitely a safety issue if the warning beep is not working when backing up. This happened off and on at first and then everything sound wise has stopped working now for the last 16 months. Except for about 30 minutes this summer when all of the sudden we had sound again. We have no idea what happened but the sound quit again and we have not had any sound since. GMC has said they don't know what the cause is and we should take the vehicle to the dealer to troubleshoot the issue. This will entail a repair bill of hundreds of dollars from what the dealer has estimated. I have read and heard this is a common problem with the Acadia. Looks like GM would step up and recall and fix all these issues everyone is having with the Acadia. Very disappointed with GM and their failure to resolve these issues.

I have a 2008 GMC Acadia, bought new and now only have 49,154 miles on it and the transmission has gone out. The dealership wants $4200 to take it out and put a refurb in, no opening it up or looking at it. GM says they won't recognize that there is a problem with their Acadias and the transmissions and refuse to recall costing consumers thousands! GM is willing to put $1200 towards the fix but they require that it is opened up and looked at before fixing. Once that happens they will decide whether it is repaired or a refurb is put in. But this takes my rights away. If they choose it gets fixed, then it comes with a 12,000 mile/1 year warranty. If it is replaced then it comes with a 100,000 mile/3 year warranty. I don't get to make this decision though if I accept their terms. What kind of help is this? Everywhere I have read, it will only be a matter of time before the transmission goes out again. :( Also to note, we have had to replace both headlights for wiring issues, replace the water pump, and have all the seals replaced in the moon roof and sun roof!

Our 2009 GMC Acadia has had 2 water pumps replaced, catalytic converter, front suspension, timing belt cover leak all have problems in the last couple months. This thing is a money pit. Worse vehicle ever. I will never ever buy a GM vehicle again. I think a class action lawsuit is needed.

My 2010 Acadia is needing its 3rd water pump. I have already had to have the struts replaced and now the dealership is saying I need them again. I am being informed my timing chains are stretched and need replacing too. This has truly been the worst vehicle I have ever purchased and will definitely steer clear of making that mistake again. Despite the multiple complaints over many of these same issues, the only thing I can get covered under warranty by GMC is the water pump... of course, the least expensive thing to fix. It's a shame the company will not help the consumers out, but in the end, they are only hurting themselves. Never buying GM again!
