I bought a 2010 Kia Rio at the end of September. I havent had the car for two full months yet. I only have made one payment on the car. Already, the car needed the breaks and the gas pedal fixed. First, the arm rest was missing and I was told that it would be ordered and be ready in a week. It took them two weeks to get it to me . Now, when I got in my car the other morning, my headlights wouldnt come on at all, only the high beams would work (Remember, I traded in a car that had headlights that did the same thing, thats why I got a new car.) When I turn on the air condition or the heater, the motor vibrates bad. I have spent two days on the phone with Kia, where I bought the car, to see that they get it fixed. I have been call-transferred here and there, I feel like I traveled the world. I was told to call and talk to the sales persons manager to see about getting me a loaner car until mine can be fixed. He told me he had to talk to the service manager and see what he says. He told me to call back in 15 minutes so he could go and talk to the service manager. I did call back and they want to tell me he is in a meeting. No, I think your avoiding my call. I have called 3 more times and could never get him on the phone. Well, the last option is for me to go and explain everything in person since I cant get anything done over the phone. I live an hour and 15 minutes away . I am a divorced 28-year-old parent of one. I need a car, I work 50 hours a week and go to school 3 times out of a week. If nothing is done soon, I am going up over everyones head. This is truly **. I regret getting a KIA

I purchased a 2014 Kia Rio with 100 kms on the odo. I work as a service advisor at an auto shop so I knew the ins and outs of maintaining my car, had my car serviced regularly. In June 2016 my check engine light came on and heard clicking from my engine. Then clanking, then my car shut down. I had one of our mechanic to check my car and he said my engine seized. I checked Kia’s website to see if there was any recalls or issues with Kia Rios... There was a recall on 3 other models of Kia for the same issue but my car was not on the list. I called the dealership and they said there was nothing they could do for me because I was 17,000 kms past my warranty. I also called Kia’s head office and they said the same thing and tried to charge me for a new engine. Because I work at a shop I made my own arrangement and had them replace my engine with a used Kia engine with 33,000kms on it. $3,000 and a week later my car was back on the road. The mechanic was curious of the engine issue so he took it apart and saw the pistons broke (which was also the issue for the other Kias) so it’s been less than a year and with being paranoid I made sure my oil changes were done almost monthly. 38,000 kms later here we are again with another seized engine. Had an synthetic oil change done March 6th and April 6th a month to the day clicking coming from my engine. The tech checked the oil level and there was almost no oil in my engine. There was no leak... The techs think it was leaking internally. My pistons are gone yet again. I still owe $12,000 on a car that I can’t drive and Kia will not do anything about this. When I read these forums and other social outlets there are literally hundreds of complaints about these cars for mostly the same reason. I will be taking this higher and to the media if needed. Kia needs to take responsibility for building bad engines and robbing people of their money. This is unacceptable.

We purchased a brand new KIA two years ago. Long story short, the engine failed and we were told it needed to be replaced. They said it was our fault due to lack of maintenance, and were requested to provide ALL oil change receipts. We could not come up with ALL of them, and lost the battle. However, that is a separate issue. The customer service is what I am so very disappointed in. The reason is that for over six months now, we have had trouble with this car. Yes, they are saying its our fault, but the disappointment (besides the outcome) is that NO ONE has ever ONCE called us back when they said they would, nor followed up when they said they would. Not even apology has been given once for this. In addition, I was treated as if I were a liar by being told I find it hard to believe on their end when I would plead my case regarding what I had been told. Sometimes you have to learn the hard way I suppose. I have names, but I am going to take the high road as much as I want to publicize that information. I would advise against ever purchasing a KIA:(

During our visit, weve had a very difficult situation and inappropriate matter with one of the sales managers, Raldo **. At the beginning of purchase transaction (after weve mentioned about the final quote that the dealership agreed on), Raldo ** started yelling with anger and stomped out on us. Offensively, he doubted us about the price that the dealership gave us. This made us very uncomfortable and it was extremely rude behavior. We couldnt find any reasons of Raldo **s attitude. Weve never had such an unpleasant experience and being insulted before.Later, he came back and weve tried to tell him that we didnt appreciate his demeanor. However, he totally ignored us and walked away again for the second time without any apologies. It seems like his main focus was on something else, not selling a car. Weve requested his business card, but he refused to give it out and told us that he doesnt have it. Therefore, we are doubting his qualification as a sales manager. Absolutely, we found zero customer skills and business ethic from this person. We werent expecting a top service, but at least he didnt need to be rude. Based on todays bad experience, we believed that we are not the first and only customer who have received this type of treatment. Weve lost our time and effort.Unfortunately, we could not purchase the vehicle because of the above incident with Raldo **. We are very disappointed and will not recommend to any friends and/or family members about this Kia dealership and his service. Finally, we strongly not recommend this person to any future Kia customers.

Less than 100 miles in the AC had a terrible stench and there was a noise in the rear suspension, axle when going over bumps. I was told the problem could not be replicated and maybe the car just needed a break in period and me being a woman with a life threatening illness I was like OK. See with Lupus I have to be careful not to get stressed out as that irritates my condition and furthermore I had just had a bout with almost dying from lupus complications and the last thing I wanted was to be upset or frustrated. So due to this I take everything lightly. My biggest mistake!!! 2yrs later those 2 problems are still there and far worse than before and now I have since acquired more issues with my Kia Soul. Mind you there is only 10300 miles on the odometer in roughly 25 months of ownership. So here are the new issues, 3 recalls in 1st yr, rattling in rear around back door, a stalling or dragging in engine when I press the window buttons up or down, absolutely poor gas mileage, car jerks forward when Im at a stoplight or stop sign while my foot is on the brake, grinding noise when braking like there is no brake pad left when clearly there is, very poor quality craftsmanship with the interior, road noise is awful and Bluetooth and hands free calling work intermittently. I am so disappointed in every aspect of my purchase and ownership of this Kia Soul and I wish I had not purchased this piece of junk. Im waiting on Kia to call me back as my case got escalated to whomever, not sure what that means but Ill wait and see if they are willing to stand by their product. As of right now I would not recommend anyone buy anything from Kia. Not even a free muffin or donut. I put $5000 down on this car and now Ill lose all of that plus 2 yrs of payments if I decided to sell. What a mess, everything about this purchase from the start was a red flag. I should have walked away but I needed a car to get me back and forth to my doctors appts as I was literally fighting to stay alive and believe it or not Im still in the fight of my life as doctors can not get my lupus under control and my health is more down than up, but Im hoping that I will not have to fight with Kia to make this right. All I can do now is put my faith and trust in God, let go and allow for him to work for me. My advice to all potential car buyers is steer clear of Kia until they iron out the kinks and stop lying about gas mileage or their supposed JD power awards. This car is just not worth what I paid for it and the problems scare me into thinking this vehicle may let me down during one of my lupus episodes and my life will be at risk due to all the problems. If I could turn back the hands of time, I would drive right past the Kia lot. Dont make the same mistake I did, run in the opposite direction of Kia and keep running, dont slow down. Dont stop and dont look back.

I had to swerve off the the road very quickly because it almost caused an accident. I tried to proceed after swerving onto the side of the road and the van would not go over 10mph. Someone could have been seriously hurt. This is a safety issue. I called Felton Holly Kia and spoke with the automotive manager Dawn. She stated it sounded like the throttle. I then called Kia Roadside Assistance and Dawn called Enterprise for a rental for me. On 5/24/12, Dawn called me to state that they replaced the throttle actuator. I picked my van up after work and left the rental car at the Kia dealership. I also asked Dawn, if this was a recall, then why didnt I receive a letter from the manufacturer? She stated she didnt tell me it was a recall. Actually, I understood her to say recall. She then stated it was a service call for the battery terminal and they replaced the throttle actuator. I then just left the dealership still upset and dissatisfied, but the van ran okay at that moment. On 6/3/12, my van did the same thing it did on 5/23/12, which consisted of riding in traffic, feeling the big jerk and the speedometer went down quickly. I could not get it to get the speed back up. It would not go over 30mph at this point. Kia roadside assistance was called once again on 6/4/12 to tow my van to Felton Holly KIA. I spoke with a gentleman on 6/4/12 (8:10AM) by the name of Peter and told him the problem I was experiencing with my van and that I would need a ride from work. He stated okay, they would take a look at my van to see what was going on. I never heard from anyone at Felton Holly KIA so I decided to call at 1:24PM (6/4/12) and I spoke with Dawn, who stated they still were not aware what was wrong and the maintenance personnel had gone to lunch, but would return in 15 minutes. I waited and then 2:38-2:40PM, Dawn called to state that they were replacing the pedal on my van. She stated this was all related to the same issue. I asked, how could that be if you replaced the throttle actuator? She stated she never stated the throttle actuator was replaced, but that they put the new computer information in my van, which was never put in. I stated, you never said that and she said she did. I just started jotting down what was being said by her. Dawn asked, was I aware how PCs worked when they install the new information? I stated no, so she called herself explaining it. She stated that my 2012 van did not have the new computer information, but it had the old information so they input this information in on the 5/23/12 incident. I feel like the information is being given and turned around once I repeat to them what they previously have told me. This is very frustrating. It seems like they are guessing about what is wrong and the real issue is not being resolved. I need help on how to handle this situation so I can utilize my options.

As a result, I paid for the additional warranty so I didnt have to worry about repairs, etc. Well, not even a month later and 2 days before my first payment is due, the AC went out. Not to worry right!! I have Kias great warranty!! WRONG!! According to the Service rep a rock must have hit the AC compressor and created a hole in the compressor, therefore its not covered in the warranty. They are currently refusing to cover the repair. What a joke this company is. These companies can get away with anything... Unbelievable.

After owning 3 Hyundai Elantras, I decided to keep it in the family and purchase a Brand new 2015 Soul. I pat myself on the back every day because of that decision. For a comfortable amount of money I get - excellent gas mileage, roomy interior, sitting high lets me see everything very easily, plenty of “stuff inside” - nice size screen (which I never thought I needed, but use it every day), radio, CD player, excellent dash lighting, cruise control - and much more.It’s 2019 and just took “her” for a 125 mile trip to the beach. You would have thought “she” was brand new. At one point I looked at the dash and realized I was going 70 in a 55 (don’t tell anyone since I have never had a ticket). I was just amazed how smooth and quiet “she” was after four years. Gas consumption was amazing. For anyone looking for a smaller yet roomy car with a low price tag and plenty of options, besides being eye candy, the Soul cannot be beat. Check it out. See for yourself how big small can be.

The service advisor is always nice and polite. But the service on my vehicle is horrible. Kia knows my vehicle is misfiring and vibrating like crazy its to the point where it Im moving in the car too it vibrates so bad. I work for a Kia dealership and if Kia tech will do me like this they would do anyone like this. I would not recommend anyone to purchase a Kia Cadenza. They are garbage. They look good on the outside but rotten on the outside. And I know they are trying to wait until my warranty go out so I would have to face this problem myself.

We had the gap so I wasn’t worried because it was my understanding they pay the car off. I had asked multiple times if this would affect my credit and I was assured it wouldn’t. The car was totaled in March and in September I get a bill for around $1,100. I called and was informed that gap didn’t cover everything so I paid the bill. I go to purchase a car last week only to find that they had put delinquent payments on my credit report until it was completely paid off. That was from May to November they put delinquent payments every month. I called to get this removed because that wasn’t what I was told. Kia absolutely refused to remove it and informed me that in the contract you have 120 days to pay off the car. The gap didn’t even pay their part until June. They clearly don’t care or try to work with people. I will never purchase from them again. The man told me that they never said that and acted like I was the enemy. It was on a recorded line, but it is clear what kind of company they are. Save yourself the trouble. Don’t buy from them. This is the first time that I had ever had to use the gap and if you buy from them and it happens to you they will screw up your credit.

Since this happened to me after 5pm on a Saturday there was no one at the service department. I spoke with an operator who had NO IDEA how to help me or who to direct me to. Frustrated, she directed me the 24 hour road side assistance. I called them and they too were unhelpful. They told me the only thing they could do was tow my vehicle. I said, My vehicle is running at the moment, so where would you tow it to? I asked if road side assistance could come check my battery and was told NO, the ONLY thing they can do is tow your vehicle. Since that would be of no help, I drove to an auto zone. Within 2 minutes a representative from their store was helping me and CHECKED THE BATTERY, which was DEAD. Having no choice but to replace the battery AND no assistance from ANYONE AT KIA, I had to purchase one from AUTO ZONE. Once home, I learned the battery is covered under warranty. Auto Zone would not take the battery back as it had already been put in. I was told that you might be willing to offer the customer service I did not receive in the beginning by refunding the money I spend on a battery. I called my customer service representative and he told me his hands were tied. What kind of service is this? Does KIA care more about $119 than customer service?!? I bought a KIA thinking that the customer service and vehicle would be better than those I have had in the past. So far, I am not thrilled with my purchase.

I called Kia in Liberty Lake, WA and reported it and told me it wasnt covered under my bumper to bumper warranty because it didnt melt all the way, just in a spot. They refuse to even submit it to Kia out pay to cover it. My $25000 purchase shouldnt melt for any reason. I do not recommend ever buying a Kia. They lure about their warranties and try to get you to pay. I am more filing out under the Lemon Law.

I checked the oil, which was fine, and then called and made an appointment at the dealership since it is under warranty. I took it in yesterday only to be told that the engine was ready to blow. I thought my day couldnt get any worse until the Kia rep told me that I needed to gather up all of my receipts and that of all maintenance reports on my vehicle. It would then be submitted to Kia to see if it met their approval for their warranty. This would have been fine except for the fact that the service person told me that if I ever went over 3500 miles in between changes they would decline the warranty. I have completed oil changes at home and the service person said that would be fine except that I have to prove that it was for the Kia. Now, there was no indicator light that ever came on in this vehicle. I have faithfully changed or had changed my oil and again NO INDICATOR light came on that anything was wrong. Basically I was told good luck in getting it fixed. I have read the other complaints and it seems like I am not the only one. I owe 26000.00 on this vehicle and they said that if (when) Kia declines the work then they will be happy to replace my engine for the price of $5000.00-$6000.00. Even if I didnt complete the oil changes that I did a BRAND NEW car should not have a blown engine in 48000 miles.After speaking with their rep it was made very clear to me that they are going to decline anything that I give them. When I asked about it being a Kia issue that the indicator lights werent on I was told Well I dont know why they didnt come on and Slug in the tank means oil leak I stated to the rep that if the seals leaked because of a problem with their motor that would also cause slug in tank too right? The guy told me You would have to prove that. I will never buy another Kia. Their warranty sounds good but is full of loopholes to make a customer believe that they are getting amazing coverage when what it really is is a way to screw people out their money, their car, and their wellbeing.

Theres a reason Kia and Hyundai have a bad rep around the auto world, and reliability is a pretty good contributor to that image. Bought a 2010 Sorento, not even 9 years old and at 60k miles suffered catastrophic engine failure. At first, engine stalled due to faulty MAF sensor, managed to bring the car back home in limp mode around 3 miles. Replaced it, started it up and after around a minute car starts shaking violently and oil spills out all over the floor. Lifted the engine to see if there was anything that could be a done and a piston had completely destroyed 2 cylinders. Called Kia about this and would cost more to repair than the cars worth. Had a very similar experience with a 2006 Optima, however bought that car used at 70k miles so it wasnt as big of a loss. I guess Im the idiot for thinking Kia/Hyundai reliability would have changed in that 4 year gap. If you want a car to at least 100k miles, stay as far away as humanly possible from these brands.

I am sad to say that after sending you a letter about a bad deal we received from your Prescott Valley dealership, we gave them another try and got yet another bad car! On Saturday, August 4th, we bought a Kia Rio. On Monday, August 6th, I was stranded on the side of the road in Phoenix in an area I had never been before with a dead car. As it turned out, the engine seized. After having 2 more engines put in it - both of which either seized or didnt drive above 40 mph - we still have no vehicle. After asking to have our money and car back, we were blown off and told that the warranty company was providing us with a rental. We dont want a rental. We simply want this nightmare to be over so that we can find a reliable and trustworthy vehicle from a trustworthy dealership. I would like to get this resolved and have a happy outcome for everyone. As a teacher, I do not have a lot of money and definitely do not have any extra money! Buying that car used my entire savings and I have nothing in return except for another bad experience at your dealership. I will never buy or allow anyone I know to buy from this company again, ever! They tell you in the commercials that they inspect every vehicle. We now know it is to make sure a customer can drive it off the lot so they can pass it off to them and say, too late, its yours!

My Kia Sorento was almost 5yrs. I did lots of highway run so it had miles beyond 100,000 thousand, but this vehicle was maintained as recommended and only by the dealer from which it was purchased. Driving along and without any warning it just blew up. Towed it to the dealer and of course they don’t know what could have caused it. I Googled and found out that others have problems with these vehicles. I contacted Kia Motors and a lady by the name of Heather told me theres an investigation into these vehicles and my vehicle was one of them. She said not to worry I’ll be given a loaner and my vehicle will be fixed and someone will get back to me.To date no one from Kia Motors has gotten back to me. A message was left on my phone by Kevin, and I returned his call 4 times leaving messages twice to no avail. It was someone from my dealership called to say my vehicle was not included so Kia was not responsible. In trying to see if my insurance would cover this I paid said dealer to strip the engine and they said the third cylinder blew through the engine block. (approx. a $7,000 fix) The insurance personnel took a look and said it’s a mechanical problem they will not cover.GUESS WHO IS LEFT HOLDING THE BAG? Me the consumer! I will give a 2 star because I seem to have gotten way better service from the vehicle than most of the others that I have read, but I still think Kia is lacking towards their customers. How you can trust such a company if they are telling you it is acceptable to have problems on a brand new car. Is there anything acceptable on the brakes or engine? Stay away from Kia. They are a big scam.

We had no issues until this year when my wife backed out and almost was rear-ended. I went in to Kia and spoke to the manager where we bought the Kia. They informed me that they dont know what the problem is. They are not able to reenact the stalling, so nothing happens. What is frustrating is I called Kia Canada and all they can do for us is Record the issues that I have had, nothing else.What is it going to take, for my wife to back out into traffic and be rear-ended after the Kia stalls? I have a 3 and 7 year olds still in car seats. As a Father and husband, my blood boils to think that they have no idea what is causing this which puts my family in imminent risk. And having a factory warranty that is no good to me? My family is everything to me. I feel trapped as I cannot afford to lose 10 to 12 thousand dollars if I sell. I cannot justify selling the vehicle to someone else as I cannot, nor will be responsible if the vehicle stalls and someone gets hurt or worse, killed. So I pray!!!

My wife and I had to walk back almost a mile to use a phone to call for a tow and a ride home.Long story short, THE ENGINE IS TOAST and because we were short two oil change receipts, they refused the warranty request! DEALER says a new motor will cost $15,000, so thats not happening! We have had the vehicle at the dealer for a month! In that time, they have ordered two used motors for us. The first never showed up, the second one, out of Quebec, wasnt fit to use. So now they have another motor ordered! How long do we have to put up with this crap? Is there nothing a consumer can do other than spend a fortune on lawyer fees?

They are the most irresponsible and useless group of people I have ever dealt with. I had a recall on my car that was unsafe to drive. After over a month of back and forth where I was told the part was ordered and it was not, and then I was told I would get loaner car and then I was told I could not get a loaner car and that I would have to be reimbursed for renting my own car. I spent almost $650 for a rental car for a week and a half plus having to UBER to and from the car rental place. On December 21st, they approved my reimbursement and told to allow 30-45 days for completion. On January 27th (31 days later) I contacted Kia to find out the status of my reimbursement. I was told on January 28 (32 days) it was in final review and would be processed shortly. After receiving and hearing nothing, I contacted again on Feb 5 (40 days) and have since had no response. It is now Feb 12 (47 days) and I have yet to receive reimbursement nor any response from Kia. I spoke to manager, Brenda ** at Kia today who also told me that the reimbursement is still processing and she would follow up with me. Brenda did not follow up with me so I had to email her 8 days later and she told me it was still being processed and she requested it to be expedited (I thought this had already been done?). Now it has been another 5 days since she responded to me. I am going on 66 days since my reimbursement was approved with no check and no ETA of when I will get it.I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and Kia just responds stating my case is being worked on and to work with my case manager. And to note, my case manager, David, if he still is my case manager, hasnt responded to me since January 28th (28 days ago). This is insane. I just want my money. I have been charged 2 months of interest on my credit card now and still they cannot even tell me when to expect my check. I WILL NEVER EVER BUY A KIA AGAIN AND REGRET BUYING THIS ONE. KIA IS A JOKE.

We own a Forte with ~79K miles on it that is well kept. When the engine just recently began a loud knocking sound and a timely engine recall notification came to us, we brought it to Kia. After charging us $135 for a diagnostics fee and having our vehicle for literally two weeks (stating that Corporate Kia had been hacked and their systems were in disarray), only to ultimately tell us the engine recall issue DID NOT apply and it would cost us $8,250 for them to put in a USED engine!! Yes, $8,250!! They also stated that our vehicle had been serviced by Kia all along, but that the engine was junk?!? There are many Kia models already in lawsuit settlements for this defective engine issue that surfaces later on, but it is not on the Forte yet. Do a simple Google search and you will discover this. If youre thinking of purchasing, please do your research first, as there are many other car manufacturers out there who do not have this devastating design defect that leaves the owners with big $$$ expenses and no recourse. How Corporate Kia can ignore their consumers and poor quality like this is highly unethical and is why I am posting this!

The 2 wheel drive models are too loose on the road and difficult to control. I actually had to change the way I drove since I always had a 4 wheel drive previously to my Kia purchase. The car is light despite its size and in a strong wind will move across the road so you have to fight to keep control or weigh down the back of the vehicle with sand or Kitty Liter in the back trunk.

It has a manual transmission, which is not common anymore. It was also very affordable. I can see this car running as strong as older Hondas, eg 300k+ miles. But the backseat do a not fold down, which I didnt realize when I bought it. There is no stereo output jack, no power door locks or windows too.

I have had one problem after another since I first bought my 2011 Kia Rio one year ago. The day I purchased it I didnt even make it home before the check engine light was on. Last month the car began to shake, jerk, sputter and did not want to accelerate. Loses power at times and this is very scary in rush hour traffic. Check engine light flashed then stayed on. After getting it checked the code read multiple misfires. I have had a tune up and 2 of the 4 coil packs changed when they went bad. After getting new spark plugs the problem still was not fixed. Thinking maybe I got bad gas I got the fuel system flushed. Still not helping so I went ahead and got another complete tune up, throttle body cleaned, fuel injectors checked, all from a reputable ASE certified shop near my home because the car doesnt want to accelerate and wont make it very far. After all these the problem was still not fixed. I took the car back to the same shop because they did not know what was going on. It turns out this particular make and model has a TSB (technical service bulletin) that affects the electrical system. The shop did all the work for Kia and is for certain this is the problem. They feel that since Kia knows about the alert they should fix the problem. The shop kept my car for 3 days because they were determined to figure out the problem. When I called the Kia dealership they said they would not fix it since my car is no longer under warranty and it is not an official recall. When I went in person to present all my evidence and invoices they would not hear me out unless I agreed to pay the $100 an hour fee to diagnose electrical problems. My car has been deemed unsafe to drive and was towed back to my home for now. How dare they know about the issue and refuse to fix it. I have spent so much money on this car not to mention paying car notes when the car cannot be driven.

From sales to service to Kias consumer affairs, everyone dropped the ball and rate a huge FAIL.Kia Consumer Affairs used to be a last line of sanity and a place to go where you could get help; now theyre just people who act like they are doing something, but ultimately just ignore you and never follow up or follow through. As others have said, watch the numbers closely in Finance because they will try to add things without asking. My last experience turned me so sour Ill probably get rid of this brand new 2021 car that is riddled with computer bugs and subpar paint before its even six months old. The car will start falling apart after the first year anyway. Terrible company with a terrible internal culture in how they deal with customers and they are turning out cheap vehicles.

Even though I was the second owner of the car, therefore voiding the Extended warranty, Kia still covered the repairs at no cost to me. Even though it was a holiday weekend they had me in a rental car the same day and even covered the entire cost for the week I had it. The customer service representatives were all extremely nice and very accommodating to our needs. Just wanted to vent in regards to the poor quality of my Rio. I bought it used from my local KIA dealership in February, 2012, and financed on a three year contract. On June 18, 2013, I was driving it in town and it just died on me with no warning. A policeman happened to be going by, and he helped me guide it to the side of the road and stayed with me to direct traffic until a tow truck could arrive. This was a dangerous situation and I am grateful that the policeman was there. I had my car towed to a mechanic my family has used locally for 30 years. The tow truck driver and policeman guessed that it was either a started problem or an alternator; I was shocked when the mechanic called me to report that my engine was gone and I would need to purchase a new one. Specifically, on the mechanics report, it stated that the car has suffered a catastrophic engine failure...cylinder has dropped a valve and there is damage to another cylinder. There was no possible way I could afford to buy a new engine, but a used one was located, which would have cost me $2700 for parts and installation. Being I still owed payments on the car until February, 2015, I knew I could not pay for the car plus the engine replacement. The mechanic volunteered that he hated to see me invest the money into replacing the engine because the car was just not worth it. He recommended I sell it for scrap, perhaps getting $400-$500. Unfortunately, being I was still owing payments on the car, the option of selling it was not an option. At this time, my KIA Rio had 97,000 miles on it. My next step was to contact my local KIA dealership and explain what had happened. I thought it was incredible that the engine had completely failed ~ I had kept up on oil changes and normal maintenance, even paying KIAs service department to replace a disintegrated gear shift four months after purchasing the car! Not once had I been notified that the engine had issues. The dealership did not address the engine dying problem, but rather tried to talk me into trading in the dead car and buying a new(er) one. This would have meant I would have had to add the remaining balance due on my dead car into the amount of my payments on a new(er) car, something I could not possibly afford. KIA did offer to replace my engine with a used one for $2200, $500 less than my mechanic quoted, but by this time I had spoken with friends in the car repair business who agreed that my Rio was not worth fixing. By searching online, I was shocked to read about the same problem other Rio owners had posted. Is this a KIA manufacturing problem? My family have owned many cars, various makes and models, running into high mileage, and have never had an engine completely fail like this. I cannot help but think this is a poorly made car and I do not understand why a recall was never initiated once it became obvious that many customers were losing engines. It makes me sick when I realize I am still responsible for payments on a car sitting dead in my garage. I honestly feel the engine failed through no fault of mine and I am furious that KIA is allowed to continue ignoring such a major concern of Rio owners.

I had problems with my cars having a rough start which was out of context for this vehicle. I have never had problems in the past and it started up immediately upon turning the ignition. I made the call that it was the battery and decide to take it to the nearest Kia dealership (Pat Peck Kia) because I was new to the area and wanted to establish a relationship.I made the appointment (0800-24 July 2013) and upon arrival discussed the problem with person at the desk. I told the service advisor that my concern was the battery and she told me it could not be that? I said okay and they took it back to troubleshoot. I sat for 3 hours before she came back to tell me that the mechanics best choice after evaluation was that the TPS Sensor was bad. I was hesitant to accept this because I had no fuel/engine problems whatsoever but that it was hesitant to start. Again, I said I thought it was the battery going out. She informed me that they would order the part (cost: $362) and that I could wait for it. After another 1 hour she came back to tell me that they had to order the part and that they would call me when it came in. They said the work would take 1 hour.I received a call that the part came in and made the appointment to get the work done on 30 July @ 7:45 figuring the earlier the better. This time I had to wait for almost 5 hours. She came to tell me that the delay was due to the fact that the battery needs to be recharged. I asked if they should just change the battery and she said no they charged it up. Sorry but at this point I am VERY unhappy and dont really have the warm fuzzy that my car is fixed. I pay the bill, accept my car. The cost was $519 and the service advisor acted like I was getting a deal. I did not feel that way.The next day (31 July), I get in the car and it is doing the exact same thing. I am thinking that I just spent $519 and nothing has changed. I am scheduled at this time to go to a family luncheon and I did not feel safe that my car will get me there and back. At this point I am away from home, the car is off and when I try it will not start. Dead! I call the dealership and they said to have it towed. I elect to try to call my wife to come help me. I get the car started and take it to the dealership. They say that they will change the battery and that cost me another $50.42. I told them that I had a battery problem from the beginning. Now it brings into question the TPS sensor failure. I have been VERY pleased with my Kia Amante and would not trade it. I am very unhappy with the events that took place, the troubleshooting, repairs, cost and lost time.

The car I have at present (Picanto) had its 30,000 mile service last week only to find out that the tyre pressure settings had been set either by the main dealers technicians or at manufacture by Kia at a dangerously low level meaning no warning signal in the inbuilt computer alighted to tell me it was being driven underinflated. The upshot of this is that both front tyres are at a dangerous level and both Kia and the main dealers, JCB Ebbsfleet, will not take responsibility for their error. I completed a complaints form with both Kia and the main dealer at JCB Ebbsfleet and after 8 days I was still not contacted in any way. I followed up today and was told its not their problem and they have no interest in it.They have left me with a car which is a potential death trap and have no interest in putting their errors right. BEWARE!!!! They sell you are car but after that youre on your own, after sales care is nonexistent, their complaints procedure is an absolute joke. Needless to say I will never buy another Kia and certainly not through JCB Ebbsfleet Kia dealership who have really been shown up to be very poor and extremely unprofessional.

Kias website states the following: Ceratos standard safety protection includes dual front and side airbags, plus full length side curtain airbags to enhance the safety of driver and passenger side occupants in the event of a side impact or rollover. A Kia employee, whose name I shall not reveal, stated the following in a response: Kindly be informed that referring to your accident description and the photos you sent, the car rolled over without front impact. The front airbag system doesnt work in rollover accidents as you mentioned. The front airbag system was designed to work in the frontal accidents depending on the front impact circumstances. Kindly refer to the owners manual for non-working cases of front airbag system.

Not even 5 mile out of my home city and the freaking car dies on the highway, my husband driving and me following. Had a hard time getting it off to the shoulder and waited for roadside. Kia calls following week and says they need maintenance records before they will inspect. Faxed them over right away and charge me to take the valve cover off. Then then say engine needs to be replaced at my cost! No way!Under warranty with 32,000 miles. Kia said that oil changes were not legit. They said that because the VIN number not on the receipt, no good. So I argued the fact that the license number on all receipts could be traced to DMV to verify. Duh. Back and forth arguing and they finally decide they will honor warranty engine replacement but my husband has to pay for labor about 1,000. Uh ok. 9 months have passed and engine on backorder.Call in every month to see status and no one really knows. Kia consumer affairs had the third now rep that just called to see what’s going on. Really? You’re calling us. Billy from Kia consumer says that it doesn’t look like the engine will be in by the time the lease is up. So I’m paying for a vehicle and carrying full insurance that I haven’t driven in 9 months. He proceeds to have us contact KMF and the dealership to try and get out of the lease. We’ve asked to get out of the lease several times and denied. KMF said, Don’t call and ask us as it is solely up to Kia and the dealership. Ridiculous runaround and fed up with the terrible lies.Received a campaign letter about software issue and knocking engines to update in February. Maybe if the stinking sensor worked and warned people beforehand they could fix issues before disaster strikes. Or perhaps stop making the darn crappy engines and blaming consumers. What a disappointment. Husband went up to get plates off vehicle last week. Contacted BBB and attorney general. We shall see. I don’t want this SUV back. After my complaint, there were 3 others filed with the most recent being March 2016 where another person got injured because the airbag DID NOT DEPLOY. Even though the IIHS (Insurance Institute of Highway Safety) identified this problem as well as potential injuries to the driver during its SMALL OVERLAY CRASH TEST - THE MANUFACTURER (KIA) still FAILED to conduct necessary defect investigation and recall on all existing 2014/2015 KIA Sorento models that have this defect which creates and heightens the risk of potential dangerous injuries because few consumers are aware of this as NHTSA gives the 2015 KIA SORENTO a five-star rating on a test that was conducted in 2013 because both the 2014 and 2015 models were in fact, almost identical WITH minimal changes.Due to the IIHS crash test results and POOR rating the 2014/2015 KIA SORENTO models the manufacturer received, it went to address these problems by redesigning the 2016 Sorento without notifying or identifying or repairing the defects in those defective vehicles currently out in the market. IT IS ALSO EXTREMELY NEGLIGENT AND IRRESPONSIBLE OF NHTSA TO POST AN ERRONEOUS 5-STAR RATING ON A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS VEHICLE.

I bought the vehicle brand new. 3 weeks ago (at 30K miles), my 4 tires had steel threads poking out and the tires were very thin. The Sorento was also pulling to the right, very bad. I contacted the dealership, telling them that their manufacturers tires were bad and demanded they replace them and fix my alignment. Kia told me that it could have done 12 months prior, but that I am out of luck now and have to pay over $200 to get it fixed right. So, I went to another big time vehicle mechanic. They did my alignment and they also mentioned that the camber bolts needed to be replaced/fixed, but that would have to be something KIA needs to do. This place did do my alignment, after I forked over a thousand dollars for 4 brand new tires at Discount Tire Co. So, Kia Corporate Service told me to bring the vehicle in for a checkup after I told them what the other mechanic told me. After Kia was done, they hit me with a charge for another alignment! I explained to the guy that we had told him from the beginning that we had an alignment done and that we did not authorize this. Then, Kia told me that the camber bolts were installed backwards and the mechanic had to fix that too. I told the guy, How could that be? The other mechanic never even touched the bolts. After I was forced to pay in order to be able to drive it off, the Sorento went back to pulling off to the right again. So, back I went to the dealership today. I took this Kia service guy for a test drive in my Sorento. This guy said that driving down our bad city roads just makes it seems like our vehicle is pulling off to the right. That there are a lot of bumps in our city roads. The service guy said they will take another look at our Sorento, even though as he said, There is nothing wrong with it. Kia also refuses to give me my money back for the other alignment that was done, which the vehicle did not need. While there, I met another customer who had just gone through the same, exact thing we are now going through. She has hired an attorney and gave me the name of her attorney.

Kia now is saying that this is not covered under warranty because the car had the wrong oil filter and was not getting adequate oil in the engine. Havoline says that this is not the case and that it is the proper filter. In addition, even if there were an issue with the filter clogging, it would bypass the filter and oil would still flow. I have done nothing wrong but now I am in a fight. It looks like Kia is trying to just make an excuse instead of actually honoring their warranty responsibility.

Ive mentioned this to fellow co-workers deployed with me who are also looking for a vehicle when they return back home and Ive been able to sway them to consider the Kia Sorento as well.In early September, my father was driving home from Maryland back to Iowa. The vehicle stopped working, there was a problem with the engine thus leaving my father stranded at night. He had to call a tow truck that took him and the vehicle to the nearest Kia dealer, Coughlin Kia of Newark, Ohio, 43055. There my father was provided an Enterprise rental car to continue his 550 mile trip back to Burlington, Iowa. That week he needed to head back to Maryland to go back to work. Unfortunately, his vehicle was not fixed so he could not pick it up on the way to Maryland. During the week, my father had to drive 400 miles to pick up his vehicle and pay for the rental car.As an Acura owner, I too had a problem with my transmission around 55,000miles and the vehicle was about 4 years old at the time. My Acura required a new transmission. The Acura dealership provided me with one of their vehicles while mine was being fixed until I was ready to pick-up. There was no charge for a rental car and the service I was given by Acura was top notch.I dont want to discredit the Kia brand based on the service provided by the Kia dealerships my dad interacted with. Im disappointed to hear that Coughlin Kia of Newark did not compensate my father for the entire rental vehicle knowing my father had to drive hundreds of miles to pick it up then back again. My father informed Shottenkirk in West Burlington, IA - where he purchased the new vehicle. Shottenkirk didnt try to mitigate the situation or help compensate him for the rental vehicle. My father did not ask for gas or per dime for his troubles as I would have. He just asked for full reimbursement for a rental vehicle and was denied.I believe this type of treatment of your new Kia vehicle owners will destroy the brand. I believe you have a great product that may need refinement. However, with the treatment of your Kia customers I find it extremely disturbing as a brand. Can this please be rectified with my father as soon as possible? I dont care if one of the mentioned dealerships listed above or Kia company itself reimburses my father for the rental car but that would be the least any of you could do.Update Dec 2011. I had to return because the headlight again burned out and they told me to use Kia bulbs, so I did at $53.00 per replacement? Come on, now theres no way I am replacing them. I went back about the rear and had a small crack in the taillight. They told me that was the problem. However, the problem existed before the crack in the taillight. I was out on that as well and I have to wonder where that crack came from. I had the car serviced a few weeks ago and had 7 taillights replaced as all were out. I bet you, I have put in $100 since I have had this car. The lighter in the car quit working, they replaced that. Of course, it lasted for two weeks. The phone charger does not work either, but did in the beginning. It no longer does. Now time for inspection and the service engine light came on. They said I need two oxygen sensors and a new converter. This car has 75,000 miles on it. What is it made of and do I have a reason to complain? If you buy a used Kia, you only get 65,000 miles on warranty, not the 100,000. I dont even dart on the door of their service department after a $53.00 light bulb that burnt out the same as the one from a local parts house. Very disappointed in this car and I wont go that route again unless something changes, until everything fell apart on it. I would have bought a new one this year.

The idling at a stop sign or traffic light is much the same as a Harley motorcycle - shaky as hell. The dome lights cuts off when they want to and finally the pick up/take off is slower than a riding lawn mower and just as sketchy.My biggest problem is I was told 1 week after I purchased the car, all new cars will come with backup camera which only the exclaim and plus had and when I went over to look at the new 2016s they all had tinted windows, backup cameras and touch screen display...1 fn week after I got mine and the dealers knew this before they sold me this piece of ** with no tint, camera or touch screen for the same price I would have paid for the additions. Im stuck with this ** and I cant do a thing. There should be a law against selling people lemons and wasting their time having to get a brand damned new car fixed. WTF KIA do you care at all about your ** cheap trashy ** product??? Im pissed off and should have kept my money in my pocket. 0 stars.

After calling Kia Canada to see what could be done I finally received a call back 3 days later with a “sorry but there nothing we can do”. A week goes by and my car is now worse then it was with a secondary part now backorder. They say I can get another rental. But they will only pay for a tiny hatchback this time. This was after hours on hold, speaking to different agents who kept passing me back to Elliot the first agent I dealt with, who kept not returning my phone calls again!!! He then told me my remote living and size of family does not matter to him, Kia offers to help but do not have to do anything for me. I was laughed at when I said I was upset and asked to have my call return ASAP. Worse customer service ever!!! Although I have enjoyed my car up until this point it is not worth the dealing with such a horrible company. I am getting rid of my car immediately and I would never recommend to anyone to buy a Kia.

I was driving to work and I was only a few blocks away from home so I return and asked my roommate if I can use his car to go to work while I take my KIA to the KIA service department. I took it back the next day and they checked it and they said that they found nothing wrong. I was really upset. They gave me a pamphlet that I should read to show me how to get better gas mileage; I was really pissed. I know how to get the best gas mileage out of my car and I do regular oil changes using synthetic - nothing but the best and regular air filter changes everything. I went from getting between 33-37 mpg to 25-28. I am a very upset KIA own. I dont know what else to do.

They replaced the seals anyway but they obviously replaced the wrong ones because water is still getting into the car soaking the carpet causing mold to grow. I also noticed that the car is lunging forward and racing when I come to a stop sometimes. Castruccis refuses to fix the problem with my car & will not return my calls. Does anyone else have problems like this with their Kia? I did see on another website that a few others were having similar problems & it was not just with Spectras.

I was pushed into a center divide and my entire front Qtr Panel and front end was demolished. NOT 1 AIRBAG DEPLOYED!! I called Kia and their engineers went out to study/test/read the circuit board to get all logistics at time of impact. They went to investigate the car more than once (car was at the auto body shop) and Kia would not release the car to been inspected by my Mercury Insurance to assess damage. The car sat at Tag Collision center for 51 days before they let Mercury assess the damage. The car was totaled out by Mercury and the engineers from Kia said that the airbags did not deploy because there were not enough factors involved for them to deploy. I personally was more concerned that considering where and how I was hit that if I had passengers in the back seat that there would have been skulls hitting the door window (place of impact). I figured that Kia would want to know in case they needed to do a recall on the K 900s to protect lives in future accidents. Kia did not allow me to see the report or tell me exactly what factors were involved to as why the airbags did not deploy. But the whole thing raised a red flag when they kept telling Mercury that the car was not ready to be inspected??? Im just a puzzled and concerned consumer who received no answers but instead a big storage bill from Tag Collision, no thanks to Kias control of when Mercury Insurance could do their job in a timely manner. Kia offered to sell me another K 900 but I just cant considering I would not feel safe or maybe be as lucky to escape injury if I were to get into another accident where if the airbags did not deploy and was extremely hurt instead of protected. This is for Kia to take notice and for there to be a record that Kia not only knew of this airbag situation but that there was an investigation done and a report on file (just in case there are future issues with consumers regarding this topic).

I contacted Kia Forbach on Wednesday 29th October 2014 (8:58am) and told the person concerned that Ill come over to Forbach around noon for tire inspection. ** was not there but the mechanic advised me to replace all the 4 tires immediately. Within a couple of hours, I had the Rio fitted with 4 Michelin tires. Same day (12:24pm) I requested ** to fix an appointment for me for wheel alignment at Kia Pailles for Monday 3rd November 2014, he said hell do it. On Monday 3rd November when I reached Kia Pailles with my toddler and wife, grand was my disappointment, anger and frustration when I was told that no appointment has been booked for my car for wheel alignment. How unprofessional! I took leave from my place of work for wheel alignment, drove all the way from Goodlands to Pailles for nothing. Is it my fault? Do you think I am fond of wasting my time and money for nothing? When I bought my Rio for R725,000/- I was not given even 1 cent of discount. I cannot tolerate unprofessional behaviour; one lady at Pailles kept me waiting for almost 2 hours, she told me that she is trying to help and possibly Ill have to wait till 5 pm for wheel alignment! Am I mad or are you guys mad? Did I come over to Kia Pailles with my 2 year son and wife to have fun/picnic? And in the midst of all, it is me who is being penalized. I took leave from work, wasted money on fuel for a service which I never received. Who will compensate me? In other countries like USA and UK Kia dealers compensate customers who have been wronged in the name of customer satisfaction. I am not a happy customer and I am waiting to hear from you what you intend to do for me? The first time I took it to my kia dealership they said they couldnt re-enact the locks opening on their own and to bring it back when it was doing this. The issue is when I stop, the car is in drive, or reverse, the automatic door locks open...You cant manually or by pushing the button, get them to relock. I feel this is a real safety issue. We took the car back on a morning when the locks had just opened on their own and went straight to the dealerships and spoke again to the service manager, who sat in the car with my husband on dealership property and drove no more than 10 feet, locks opened... They drove a few more feet and they opened again. So the service manager had witnessed the problem himself which he said they needed to have happen to verify what I was telling them. He was supposed to at that time reach out to kia corporate to see if there were any other issues of this type on file or if there were any modules about the locks. We were told on the day the service mgr. witnessed the problem they didnt have time to fix it that day and to bring it back in a couple of weeks and leave it overnight so they could check it first thing in the am. This brings us to today. They have had my car all day and the tech is saying he cant recreate the problem. I dont know why he has to when the service manager has told him the problem. They hadnt done any checks for shorts or faults. I called kia corporate and spoke to customer care there who did call the dealership to see what they had done as there was no record of the dealership logging a record with corporate as they were supposed to do two weeks ago. The service manager wasnt in today. They called him at home and he told them what he witnessed. At that point they said they were going to check for shorts. They had my car all day and are still saying they cant recreate the problem. Apparently tomorrow the service manager will be in and he will try to recreate the problem and were told I want this resolved by end of day tomorrow. I told them I want them to reimburse me for the gas they are using up driving around in my car to diagnose a problem their service manager had already seen. I dont see why, upon the service managers word that there is a problem with the locks, that they dont just replace the door locks. So they have my car for another day, for which I am inconvenience. If they dont fix the problem tomorrow, I will be contacting the COO of Kia Canada and registering my extreme displeasure with this experience. This was my first kia and now it will be my last. The customer service is awful and it appears they just dont want to fix the problem because its still under warranty.

I opened the hatchback to see the rear defroster compartment melted away and then flames shot out of the hole. Within 4 minutes the car burned down to the frame. A formal investigation was completed with my insurance company, Kia, and the NHTSA.Kia accepted responsibility for the fire. They bought the car back from the insurance to hide a fatal flaw in the car. After weeks of failing to return numerous calls and emails to Kia attempting to understand what the next steps are, we finally received a call stating that they were willing to reimburse us for the contents in the car- WHICH THEY HAVE to do. After several more phone calls and emails, a supposed manager named Jeff **. contacted us (of course they have no email address, last name or phone number). After going back and forth he offered to refund us the $2000 we put down on the car only 5 months earlier stating it was the cost of ownership! After asking we found out that if we accepted, we would have signed off our rights to any future actions. The fire department told me the only thing that saved my life was that I can a full tank of gas so it did not blow cause of the lack of fumes. I was minutes away from picking my 6 year old daughter from school. The fire started right under where her booster seat was. Do not buy this car as it can easily kill you.

Another hour goes by and I receive a call that they fixed the harness in my Sorento but it didnt fix the issue, then proceeded to explain what I needed. I immediately called my husband who went down to the dealership. Like magic when he asked to see the part they fixed and why they were charging 2 diagnostic fees and 169.99 an hour YES an hour, the bill amazingly shrunk from almost 1400.00 to 185.00. If I would have went down there they would have taken 1400 dollars from me because I didnt know about cars. My Sorento is still not fixed as I now have to pay out of pocket for everything as my warranty is up. And as per Jacob at Kia Consumer Affairs I was told when I bought the vehicle when the warranty would end and they do not have to send me any notification. They do not have to respond to my complaint but it will be addressed, somehow. So I have to fix my car which I had for less than 2 years with NO WARRANTY. Also Kia Sorentos do not have fuses so something as simple as a headlight or indicator that needs to be fixed cost over 800 dollars as I need a body control module (computer) to work headlights. I may not fix cars but how is this affordable for anyone? I believe this is the only car made this way. Are we still in the 50s and 60s. When will companies be penalized for this type of behavior? I am appalled and saddened that I have to include a man in my affairs because I am not equal. And for headquarters each Kia is a independent franchise so they are not responsible for the dealerships behavior.

But Im only averaging 23-25 miles per gallon. I drive to different locations, usually a 70-80 mile round trip, at least 50 miles of which is freeway. Needless to say, Im very disappointed with the mileage. Its not even hitting the low end of 27, and its nowhere near the expected highway mileage of 34 mpg.Now onto a totally different subject, the Mr. Sandman commercial. Sheesh. They objectify women and men. They show beautiful sexy women and big burly muscled men in super macho endeavors like sawing logs and fighting. So? Back to a real problem. My mileage isnt what the TV commercials or the window sticker represent. The only reason I was even looking at a new car was to increase my mileage - by at least 10 mpg - from my beloved Pontiac Aztek, which averages 20 mpg. Anyone else have this mileage shortfall with the KIA Soul?

I get 13 miles to the gallon in town and Lexington, Ky is not that big which I get at the highest is 322 miles per tank, also they come with an 18.5 gallon tank but on empty with the light on I get 13.5 gallons per fill up. They have told me, There is 5 gallons in reserve and also youre not going to see a big difference until the 10,000 mile mark, which we all know is pure crap. Do not ever buy a Kia. It would not let me give it zero stars.

It was a few days/few miles shy of falling under the NY State Lemon Law, so perhaps this horrific series of events will warn others against doing business this awful company.Heres the Order of Absurd Events from Last Year: Sunday, May 17: I left my house and got about 1 block away. I stopped at a stop sign, and the “check engine” light came on. I then proceeded through the stop sign in order to pull over and realized that my car would not go more than 5 MPH. I turned around and (very slowly) made my way back home.Monday, May 18: I called Kia to have my car towed to the dealership. The closest dealership to my house is Generation Kia located in Bohemia, N.Y. At about 10 a.m. the tow truck showed up and my husband and I drove to the dealership in order to fill out any necessary paperwork. We were told that we would receive a phone call with an update as soon as they looked at the car.Wednesday, May 20: I received a phone call that the car was ready to be picked up. At 5:00 p.m. I went into the car, started it up, and the “check engine” light immediately came on. I drove the car around the parking lot and found that it, again, would not go more than 5 mph. I expressed the fact that I did not want to return to Generation Kia in Bohemia, N.Y. due to their unprofessional antics – and after learning that the Dealership was being sued for fraud. I asked if I could have the car towed to a different dealership. I spoke with a gentleman who said that he completely understood, and mentioned that I could have the car towed to Smithtown Kia – which is where I actually purchased the car – even though it was a slightly further distance than the other dealership. Wednesday, June 17: I called Kia Consumer Affairs to find out whether Smithtown Kia should be working on the vehicle, or if they should wait for Kia’s “engineer” to visit and look at the vehicle. I spoke with a different gentleman who explained that he “could not tell me either way what to do.” He mentioned that my case had been “escalated,” and that I needed to speak with my “case analyst.” He then asked if I received a call from the analyst, and I told him I had not. He told me that her name was Bernice **, and offered me her phone number.I called Bernice at 11:51 a.m. and left a message on her voicemail. A few hours later, I called Bernice again and she answered the phone. She said she was waiting to receive the “vehicle repair history” that she requested from the dealership. I asked her when I can expect to hear back from her. She said “if she gets the repair history today, and speaks to the district representative, hopefully within the next two days, they will be able to look at the vehicle.” Bernice called me at 4:12 p.m. and left a voicemail stating that she had contacted Generation Kia in Bohemia, N.Y., and they informed her that the vehicle was not there. I immediately e-mailed Bernice at the address that she left on my voicemail and told her that my Kia Soul was at Smithtown Kia in Saint James, N.Y.Thursday, June 18: I called Bernice and left a message to let her know, again, that my Kia Soul was at Smithtown Kia in Saint James, N.Y. I mentioned in the e-mail that “My car has been sitting at Smithtown Kia for 3 days waiting for an Engineer from Kia Corporation to take a look at it.” Bernice called me back at 11:37 a.m. and left a voicemail. She stated that she received my messages that the car was located at Smithtown Kia. She contacted them and spoke with Bill. She told them to do a “full diagnosis of the vehicle” and to open up a “tech hotline case” with their techs out in California for assistance if needed. She said, “at that point, once we do have a full diagnosis and been assisted by ‘tech line,’ if your concerns are not resolved at that point, we will then dispatch a field technical rep to the dealership.” She goes on to say that once a diagnosis is made and if the field technical rep is required, they can look into providing me with alternative transportation from their “district parts and services manager.”At 12:30 p.m. I contacted Smithtown Kia and spoke with Tom. He asked if Bill could call me back. At 1:15 p.m., Eric with Smithtown Kia called and said that Bernice did call them to tell them that they could begin working on the vehicle. He said as soon as his master mechanic can get to it, he will look at it. I asked him to please let me know once he looks at it. He said he absolutely will, and that he would be personally overseeing everything.Friday, June 19: I spoke with Eric from Smithtown Kia. He said the vehicle is performing perfectly, but they realize there is still a problem. He said they were working with “tech line,” as Bernice mentioned in her voicemail on June 18, and that they had been going back and forth with tech line all day long. He said they were taking the vehicle for a test drive to see if the “check engine” light would come on for them. After receiving no return phone calls or e-mails from Bernice, I e-mailed a summary of the situation to Amy **, Shamit **, Scott **, Karla ** and copied Bernice **, hoping that some of the people at Kia headquarters would be better able to assist. I received no response from anyone.Saturday, June 20: I received a call from Eric with Smithtown Kia. He said that unfortunately he did not have an update for me. The car was still performing perfectly, he was working with tech line, but the issue was not yet resolved. Eric and Smithtown Kia were extremely patient and polite and were the only people that actually called me back throughout this month-long ordeal.Tuesday, June 23: Bernice called me at 5:00 p.m. She said she spoke to the Smithtown Dealership and requested a field tech. He will “hopefully” be there in 2 days, on Thursday. She was unable to schedule the tech previously because their process is to have the dealership look at vehicle, work with tech, and then schedule a field tech rep. She did not ask dealership for rental car and put me on hold to find out if I was approved for one. She came back and said that I was FINALLY approved for a rental up to $40/day. I could get a car at any rental facility. Once repairs were completed, I would be reimbursed with a check from Kia. It would take 3 weeks to get reimbursed. I asked her when I can expect to hear back. She said if the field tech goes on Thursday, she will call and let me know. If he has to go later than Thursday she will call and let me know that as well.Thursday, June 25: I received a phone call from Paul ** who said he was with Kia Motors American Corporation Headquarters located in Irvine, CA. He apologized that it took so long for them to approve me for a rental car. I mentioned that I was told I would be reimbursed for up to $40 per day, but that unfortunately, in New York, I could only find rental cars for about $55 per day after taxes and fees. He said $55 per day was reasonable and I could go ahead and get a rental car for that amount and still be reimbursed. He mentioned that the field technical representative was working on the car – that their field technicians are highly experienced and that my car was in good hands. He said to contact him with any questions or issues.Friday, June 26: The Smithtown Kia Dealership called and said that the highly experienced field technical representative had been working on my car all day Thursday. Unfortunately, these highly experienced folks still could not find the problem, so they wanted to put a “flight recorder” into the vehicle, so that the next time my car breaks down (how reassuring), I would have to push a button and it would record the data so that they can HOPEFULLY see what’s going wrong, and POSSIBLY fix it. Because, doesnt everyone want to drive an unreliable car that at any point will break down and leave you stranded?THE END. Im sorry to say that this issue was never resolved. I got rid of the clearly defective Kia Soul and purchased another vehicle - from another company. I will never purchase another product from Kia. They are unprofessional, they dont stand behind their products, and clearly do not care about their customers safety or well-being.

After seeing the vehicle had been well maintained on the Carfax and it had low mileage of around 75,000 I felt confident the vehicle would be a reliable long term purchase for me and my family. Now just months later in May 2018 the vehicle spontaneously shut down while driving last week. Fortunately for me I on road with parking lot I could safely roll into and stop. This may not be the case if this happens to another vehicle who may be on a high traffic interstate, high speed roadways, etc. After having it towed to the local Kia dealership I am being told it needs an entire new engine. After a little research, I noticed a Kia Sorento engine failure recall for 2012-2014 due to poor engine manufacturing assembly from leaving debris in engine. After contacting Kia consumer affairs I was told my VIN was not included in this recall. However, they settled on covering half of the $4,000+ repair.If they know they are at fault, why not pay repair in entirety? They claim it is not covered under a warranty and I am ‘fortunate’ they covered as much as they did. I just wanted to educate anyone looking to purchase a new or used vehicle. Steer clear of Kia or Hyundai products unless you can justify buying a new engine before 90,000 miles. I am now going on my THIRD week of having to pay for a rental vehicle because Sorento is still is not repaired. Between the weekly vehicle rental fees, time and hassle, towing fees and the unpronounced $2,000+ for an engine repair I am beyond frustrated at the lack of customer safety concern and service. Please share this to friends and family. Even if this helps just one person not have to go through this situation in the future it was worth my time writing and sharing it.

I took my car in 2 months ago. My speedometer had stopped working, was consistently reading 0. In addition my passenger side blinker wasnt working. Also my seat belt had frayed. They checked into it, sent it home with me that day, said the computer didnt see anything wrong with the speedometer so it must be the cluster. We will order one in with your seat belt. 1 week later I received a phone call. My seat belt was in. I didnt want to lose my car twice so I said I would bring it in when the cluster was in too and was told she would get back to me. One month later I take my car in and ask about the cluster. Ive been driving without a speedometer too long. Turns out they needed my car in the shop to ship current cluster away, would have been nice to know! So it took 2-3 days, the rental was great and they said come pick up your car. Its fixed. They changed 3 light bulbs apparently, only the one signal was out though. And it cut in and out so I didnt figure bulbs did that but whatever. And the cluster was changed. I love how no one tested it!!! I was doing 0 on the Hwy home and called them to say its still doing 0 and my blinkers not working. So I had to go back the next day. They said they would look into it and call me. I asked for by 3:30 cause I had to pick up my kids with it or a car. At 3:30 the masters of communication at performance Kia had not yet called so once again I had to call them. A poor lady answered said they need my car to figure it out and the guy had already put me down for a rental. Thanks for telling me. Also thanks for not verifying with enterprise that they had a car. Wound up going through national, once again their customer service was great! Loved the rental. And had it not been for the people at national leaving me a voicemail and text message, I would not have known my car was ready for pick up. And if I got there any later than 4 Id have to pay that day myself (this message was at 2). I realized later I had one single missed call from Kia at 1:02 and no message was left and I dont have my phone on me but was consistently checking my messages! I had to cancel my appointment that is necessary for me to attend every two weeks to have time to get there. I get there they tell my speedometer had stopped working because of my accident. This accident they keep telling me about is me banging up my bumper on a snow bank 1 month after I got the car 2.5 years ago. So tell me how my speedometer runs off my bumper! My ex is a mechanic there is no way that could happen. They are attempting to cover their butts for their faulty wiring after they went through various parts and clusters. Needless to say once more they have sent me home with an unsafe car that they told me was safe and driveable!!! Due to their inability to navigate their own electrical system I now have absolutely no lights on my front driver side (Fog blinker and headlight all out completely illegal!! And it was fine when I brought it there.) and my passenger front blinker is still out. The customer service manager was rude and its impossible to communicate with ** who make it seem like theres never a problem and if it is its your own fault. Currently awaiting Kia Canadas call back because they can have it towed in because Im not getting in an accident because they continuously test life and ability to not get ticketed through their inability to do their jobs and test stuff before they send it home. :( Im just sick of the same problem and cant get anywhere with this! Im at a standstill.

2015 Kia Optima. 37k miles or so on it... engine seized after oil change. Dealership is trying to weasel out of warranty because I dont have oil receipts. Magnuson-Moss warranty act of 1975 states the company must prove that the bearing failure was my fault before denying warranty (lack of receipts doesnt prove lack of maintenance). Also no manufacturer can require you to use their maintenance products unless they provide them free of charge. They had a class action suit last year over this very issue. Beware any company offering great warranties... they do whatever they can to get out of honoring them. Never buy Kia.

2012 I purchased Kia Ceed 29,000 miles from Kia garage with one previous owner. Issues with the gears stiff, failing to engage the garage and web info said this is normal. The problem increased. Car became unsafe to drive. I requested the garage to investigate. The garage has now confirmed the clutch and flywheel (plus) other components have broken. Kia head office has refused to fix the car under the warranty stating wear and tear. The garage is refusing to do the work - cost of repair is 1000. The garage is also stating this kind of failure happens with low mileage. Head office stated poor driving caused the problem. As you can gather I am not impressed with the service provided by Kia, or the car! Has anyone else had a similar issue, or could offer advice?
