I brought my 2009 Kia to the dealership for a free upgrade on the covers for the back of the rear seats. And they also completed a free ECM upgrade according to Kias recommendations, without consulting me before doing so because Kia states that they have the right to do any and all upgrades without asking the owner of the vehicle while the vehicle is on their property and being serviced. I wouldnt have stopped them before or after, why should I, any free upgrade for my vehicle is great... but about a week or so later, my transmission started jerking when the automatic transmission downshifted from 2nd gear to 1st gear. I brought it back to the dealer and they said that since there were no warning lights or codes for the problem, they didnt know what to do. So they waited for info from their tech line. Time went by so I made an appointment for them to check my transmission fluid level again. Being it’s a sealed transmission, I am not qualified to check it and according to Kia Corporation, this transmission fluid in the V-8 is Lifetime, no regular changing is needed. The fluid costs around $80 a quart!!!!! Really???I brought my Kia Borrego to the dealer for the appt to check the transmission fluid level and the service manager said that they couldnt check the level until I prepaid for a couple of quarts of fluid due to the high price of it per quart and also that they didnt have any at the dealership and would have to special order it and receive the fluid before they checked the transmission fluid level. Im fuming! So, I politely with a smile showed the service manager their maintenance service checklist that they performed on my vehicle when they did the ECM upgrade. On it, it says that they checked all fluid levels and checked my transmission fluid level and it was signed. The service manager quickly declined saying they couldnt check it and didnt check it. So they were falsifying documents by saying that they did but now they dont. A few days later I made an appointment to talk to the Owner of the dealership. And after a bunch of defying belief of my issue, he supposedly bypassed the service manager and asked the mechanic directly if he checked the fluid and the answer was yes. Hmm, as for the hard jerking of the transmission, the Owner says that that is normal, most Kia vehicles downshift hard. He said that his Kia downshifts hard!! Its getting deeper. So I brought my Kia to a different dealership in a different city and their solution, remove the transmission and a used transmission was installed due to my extended warranty outside of Kia. A few months later, the hard downshifting starts again, mostly when the motor is cold, not from the weather, just after setting for a while. I brought it back to that dealership and they reset it back to its norm and made it worse. Now it’s doing the hard jerking all the time at the 2 to 1 downshift. From the get go, I told both dealerships and warranty people my thoughts and I blamed it on the ECM upgrade. Why would two transmissions give me that same problem?? My original transmission had around 90,000 miles. The used one had 30,000 miles. Ive put over 4,000 miles on the used one. Im waiting on answers from the second dealership on how they plan to correct this problem again. Im tired of all of this. I want my vehicle repaired correctly. I have an extended warranty up to 100,000 miles and a 1 year warranty on the used transmission that is in the Kia Borrego now. Any ideas or help will be greatly appreciated.

So, this is the newest car Ive ever owned. Being 22, I finally established enough credit to buy a nicer car for myself! Yay! Ive only had my Rio for about six months. Its a 2013, so theres still a warranty left. Smooth sailing until my baby took a turn for the worst. My engine started making a knocking noise and I broke down 40 miles from home. Panicking, I wasnt sure what to do (as Ive never dealt with warranty issues). I then looked into my owners manual to see that I have roadside assistance! They stayed on the line with me, asked me if I was okay, and asked me if I had a way home (which I did). Eventually they towed the car to the nearest dealership. The dealership called me the next day letting me know that the engine had blown. My heart literally sank into the ground. He said he would put in a claim to Kia to fix up my little red car. I called everyday for a week, and the service manager hadnt heard anything back. So finally I called into corporate to see what was going on. They told me that they had trainees in the department that handles those things that were just getting the hang of things there and apologized for my wait. The next day I hear back from the service manager of my local dealership telling me that Kia approved my warranty claim because my car was well maintained, that I can pick up my rental car, and my Kia is getting fixed this week! Although having no car for week was kind of inconvenient, I understand that customer service can be kinda rough sometimes, especially with trainees. All in all Im happy that Kia took care of me. Thanks Kia! :)

I had a (brand new) Kia Soul (2016). It shoot back out of the driveway without me. It nearly kills me if I had not jumped back in it, it would of. Anyway QBE would not send it back to Kia. They fixed it. Long story but it was written off in the end but I found out that that car that was never fixed. Was sold at an Auction for 10,000 as when it shot back out of driveway it had only done 11,000 Km so it looks good but the car is a killer. It will do the same to someone else. I told Kia but they did nothing. It will kill someone. This car was in park with the handbrake on!! Think car makers are as bad as car dealers. Just crap!! Kia knows this car yet has done nothing to help!

I purchased a Kia Rio 2011 in August 2012 from Courtesy Ford of Rome. The hubcaps was making a flapping noise when the weather changes. Water leaking in the backseat when it rains, and water leaking in the trunk starting on November 4. Went back and forth to Terry Reid, 25 miles away from Rome. I took it four to five times to see them before it was fixed in February of 2013. The airbag light came on. I had to go to Terry Reid for them to check it. The part was ordered and fixed a month later. Two weeks ago the engine light came on and the car started to put along. Now the car powers down like it is cutting off. I feel like I got a lemon and I plan on sending it back to the people who financed it. Im not paying $352 a month for a car that is not reliable and a waste of my hardworking money. I shouldnt be having all these problems with this car. I havent had it for one year yet and everything started three months after I got it.

Kia Rio Gearbox problems - This vehicle was bought brand new on 2nd May 2013 from the Kia Northcliff, Cresta, South Africa branch. The vehicle started to develop gearbox problems with the gears getting stuck intermittently. After speaking to Mr. **, National after sales manager, Kia South Africa, he arranged that the vehicle had to go for assessment. The vehicle was sent to Kia to assess and fix the problem. They have replaced certain parts whilst trying to rectify the problem. After receiving the vehicle back, the problem was not solved. The vehicle was returned to Kia, and after one weeks assessment, Mr. ** (Workshop Manager at Kia Northcliff) responded the following: At the time of testing the vehicle we could not fault the vehicle. The vehicle is still giving the same problem and Kia is not prepared to accept that this is a factory fault and is not willing to replace this vehicle. I am sending this complaint now to the South African National Consumer Commission, Hello Peter, Verbruikersraad Beeld, The Automobile Association, Kia South Africa Head Office and trust that somebody will assist me to solve this problem once and for all, seeing that Kia is not prepared to accept responsibility.

Kia Stinger GT-2 is competing well with sport type BMW and Audi vehicles for about 2/3 of the price. It is high performance throughout- high horsepower dual turbos, higher torque, five driving modes that alter engine and suspension parameters, 8-speed transmission, AWD with a 60/40 split favoring the rear wheels, deluxe Merlot leather interior, all available safety features, and a Harman Kardon 650 watt 15 speaker stereo to boot. However, road tests reveal 0-60 mph in 4 seconds or less and its speed limited to 188 mph contrary to the manufacturers numbers. Also, its three grand to replace the monitor, etc. and labor rates at dealerships are usually $120/hour or higher. Nevertheless, I love driving it and am learning the features rather quickly as they are quite intuitive and the manuals quite helpful. I opted for the extended bumper to bumper 10 year/100,000 mile warranty because of the heavy reliance on complex computer and electronic technology.

I bought a vehicle from this company in June 2011 and one week after purchasing this vehicle, the trunk latch inside the car broke. I have been calling them to schedule a service visit and one time they called me, they were very rude to me. So as of now, my trunk still does not work and I do not feel I want to return to that location to get it fixed because of the way I was treated. However, I do need this problem fixed.

I bought a Cadenza 2011 (brand new) from Saudi Arabia, Dammam branch. Vehicle VIN no: **. The car makes very strong sound when I just run the engine on. It is strong enough to shake the car. Anyway, the car was checked by the KIA agency in Dammam more than 8 times, due to the regular checking every 5,000 km and other checking for the particular defect as well. They promised me after every check that theyll fix the damage, but actually it is not fixed yet. I ask you, as you are the main center to deal with and stop them giving bad picture about KIA product by manipulating with their customers. I need the car to be fixed, if it is fixable or changed with a new one if it is manufacturers defect, as soon as I will not be forced to complain at the costumer production affairs or complaining on the daily newspaper. I appreciate your cooperation and thank you in advice for your quick reaction.

Kia reported me late to the credit bureaus five months in a row. I didnt know this until we applied for a home loan. When I found out, I spent the next week on the phone every day. Spoke to many reps and supervisors. I was told that I needed to learn to make my payments and one even threatened to repo my car. I got a copy of my archived bank statements to Prove I made my payments. Two of the months they reported was due to an extension I applied for and they processed the paperwork late. The other months were because they simply lost my payments. Good thing Im a bit internet savvy because I finally located the number to corporate and the name of the CEO. Once I called there, all the sudden the payments were found and my credit cleared within five days. I then requested copies of my payment history to verify that my payments were applied appropriately and they accused me of having litigation going on and got very rude and hung up on me. Corporate is now refusing to let me speak with anyone. I contacted Better Business Bureau and Kia Financial responded to them denying even having an account with me. Now I have to send in a monthly statement to even prove that I have a business relationship with them... If anyone could like the number to corporate, I would be happy to provide. Its time we as consumers make them change how they operate...

We bought the car in 2006, since that time we have taken the car in many times for mostly bad electrical problems. Each time they so call fixed temporary, then next time more charges and waiting for parts that never came in, and/or new workers didnt know what was going on. Got a used 2013 Kia Soul with 47000 miles on it. I am really surprised about the underwhelming gas mileage. I thought they had downgraded the MPG but they should be downgrading it further to 20 mpg in the city and 23 on the hwy. I am getting a consistent 20-21 ON ECO DRIVE, with city/hwy combined, pretty bad. After reading the reviews of people getting even less than that, even more unacceptable. I thought I would have this car for a while but am already considering selling it (I will definitely be blogging about the bad gas mileage because other people need to know before buying a Soul. Kia just straight up is still lying/exaggerating the mileage of this vehicle). After some research regarding fuel economy on the Soul, it seems that Kia was called out due to their claims that it got better mileage. I see that Kia did a lifetime reimbursement program for owners of Kia Souls from 2011-2013, but apparently no one is getting their settlements because there are some appeals. So maybe it is not so voluntary?

I went to Bald Hill Kia in Warwick, RI with my CPO Sorento. Somehow and for reasons I cant understand they couldnt find that my vehicle was certified. After several call I spoke with someone name it Kevin (Kia customer service representative). He couldnt help me and blame me and the dealership that I should know better if my vehicle was cover or not instead help to solve the issue. Finally he told me the CPO warranty was under JM&A and he couldnt even give me their number so I google it and find it, and talk to them. They told me to have the dealership to call them and yes, I was cover!!! This all process was too painful and I will not consider to buy another Kia because the experience was horrible, from the dealership to Kia Motors Customer Service!!! I have some more issues but I will take the vehicle to my personal mechanic and pay out of my own pocket, and avoid the hassle of Kia service.

I am so disgusted with the service and attention, and lack of knowledge, from the Kia Esserman, in Doral Florida. My vehicle went in for service and came out with the AM radio not working. After many trips to get this corrected, and after a rude service rep, Freddie, continues to work on the problem the car has more issues than before. I bought this car for my husband, who is disabled, and I have had nothing but problems. When they want to sell you a vehicle you get tons of calls, when there is a problem you are ignored. This is my 3rd Kia and my last. Someone call me. I am reporting this to the Better Business Bureau, and to the ADA for not having consideration of a disabled man.

I bought my car brand new in March of 2011 from Phil Smith Kia in Lighthous
I bought my car brand new in March of 2011 from Phil Smith Kia in Lighthouse Point Florida. It was one of the newer models of the Kia Soul, shadow black. A couple months after buying the car I noticed that the tire pressure light was constantly on. I ask on my next oil change and of course they said it just needed air, but boy were they wrong. I wish I knew right then to declare my car a lemon under Florida State Law. Months went by and the issue still persisted. I was still told to ignore it, that when I came there they would just reset it and it would stop. Two years later in 2013 while driving in the middle of the night, all the indicator lights starting going off in my car simultaneously and the car shut down. It would not restart! 2 years old less than 20,000 miles! I had it towed backed to Phil Smith Kia. They said a module had to be ordered for my car. They ordered it, the manager Mihai left and all of a sudden it was never ordered and of course they didnt see what the problem was. Nothing was showing up when they run test. At this point Sheldon is taking care of my car. A year passed, tire pressure light still on, when all of a sudden all of the lights simultaneously again. Imagine my fear of my car shutting off again. And when I say all the lights I mean, tire pressure light, air bag light, engine light, brake light, abs light. The electric odometer wasnt working. The rpm was going up and down. It was as if my car was possessed! I immediately took it to the dealership to find out what was wrong. They say, Oh we dont show that these lights are coming on. We need proof! Hello look at your record. Ive been here a million times. They say the only light we see is your air bag, your passenger airbag needs to be replaced, come back we have to order the part. I come back (Its 2014 now). They replaced the airbag. The airbag light is still on. My car is still acting possessed. Took it back. They still claimed they couldnt find anything. Took it back again. Oh they finally find something. We have to replace your air bag module. I come back. They order the airbag module. The lights are still going off. I come back again. They told me they ordered the wrong one. Well call you when we get the right one. They get the right one and replace it. It is 2015 now. The lights are still going off. Apparently when they replaced it they didnt finish resetting everything. So now they reset everything and tell me to come back and get it. I come back to get it and they drove all of the gas out of my car. It was on E! and on top of that the lights were still going off. I was so fed up I left in anger, not knowing what to do. Two weeks later I call again - make an appointment. I find out that Sheldon is no longer with Phil Smith Kia and now Charlie the service manager will be taking care of my car and it will absolutely be fixed this time. I drop the car off on Saturday 8/1. Was told I couldnt get a shuttle home while they worked on my car, When they told me it would take all morning, (Ive gotten a shuttle home every Saturday I was there before) I had to call for a ride and received not one phone call back when I called multiple times all day! After the 5th call, Oh sorry we didnt call you. Lets just give you a rental car and you can keep your car here. Days go by no phone calls. I have to call. Once I call, Kia corporate is involved at this point. I get several apologetic phone calls saying that they will make sure everything is ok, that my car is finally fixed and they will test drive it with me. Wednesday 8/5 I leave work early to pick up my car - call the dealership to let them know Im on my way. I got to the service center at 5:40 pm due to traffic. The service center closes at 6pm. No one was there! I walk into the dealership to speak with the receptionist. She informs me that Charlie left for the day because it was SLOW!!! WTF. I left work early to come here, have been late to work have taken days of time off to come to this dealership and no one is here! I am floored. Cassandra the receptionist informs me that she has no authority to release my car. I leave, because Im obviously upset, in tears at this point. I call Kia corporate. They say that there is nothing they can do for me but report this incident and that I need to talk to a general manager. I called for the general manager and was informed that he wasnt there and that I would have to call back in the morning. Then I tried to see if anyone could release the keys to my car. No one has the authority to do this. OK THOUGH IM PISSED I WILL WAIT to get my car that will not be given to me. MY CAR! I call in the morning and speak to West ** and explain to him my entire situation over the years. All he says is that he will check on it and call me back within the hour. Surprise! No phone call. I call again and was told he wasnt even in the building anymore. I called again to speak to Charlie with no avail. At this point Im being ignored and disrespected. I finally get a call back hours later with a sorry apology from the service manager and have still not heard from West **, the general manager who said he would call me back. I had to come up with the solution. I had to beg them to drive the car to me so that I could return my rental car and not be stuck. My car has all new tires, new brakes, a new battery, a new airbag - all done recently. Long story short. I will never buy another Kia in my life and I would advise no one else to either. The way that Ive been treating is appalling. I would like to give a round of applause to Phil Smith Kia for their crappy service. Good luck to the person that buys this car because Im getting rid of it. Thank you for reading. And thank you Kia for doing absolutely nothing but giving me headaches, excuses and more gray hairs!

We bought a 2008 Kia Rondo EX 2.4L brand new from the dealership and opted for the Kia Protect 5 Star plan extended warranty. Thankfully this covered repeated visits for struts and front end parts and included the premature timing chain (not belt) replacement at 140K. At 151K the engine throws a rod through the block. All oil changes performed and documented and reviewed and approved by Kia. However the Kia Protect warranty states two items: 1) Repair will be covered up to the wholesale value of the vehicle (originally I was told by Kia my wholesale value was $1500 but after a month Kia Protect reviewed and increased to $3500).2) Warranty repairs may include new or reconditioned Kia parts but also says at the discretion of the administrator .Response from the dealership: I spoke with the extended warranty company this morning and they gave me a max value they will cover, they will cover to a max of $1479.00, and they will only install OEM Kia parts, which means you would have to cover the difference, and new parts and install you’ll be looking upwards of 10,000.00 which would be a large difference to cover. Your other option is a used complete motor assembly that would be approx. 4700.00 plus taxes installed, but they will not cover any of it. Motor will take a few business days to get to us, then we would need a few days for install.I argued with both the dealership and Kia that may include does not mean must include. However Kia Protect will only replace the engine with a new Kia engine and will not consider a used engine. Estimate from Kia Protect (LGM FINANCIAL SERVICES INC.) The estimate is as follows: total estimate $9484.60. Kia protect: $3500 including taxes. Remaining balance to be paid by contract holder: $5984.60. There is a $500 difference in the amount if the head does not have be machined. Escalated issue from Kia Protect from adjuster, supervisor and manager to no avail. Will be looking for a new vehicle from someone more reliable that stands by their product.

Took my car to Kia East Syracuse for warranty service. Was told car needed to be kept overnight while they waited for a part. Was called next day. Salesman stated following: “Hi Rose, we just found out your part won’t be in until the first week in October, and your lease happens to end the first week in October. Why dont you come in and get a new lease vehicle. I stated I would not be purchasing a new vehicle. The service department is stating they dont have a loaner car for me, they want me to go almost three weeks without a vehicle. I contacted Kia Corporate and they state that they cant help, since the dealer is claiming they dont have a car they can offer as a loaner. They stated they could possibly rent me a car, but they need a manager to authorize and that takes 48 hours. Ive never heard of a car company doing warranty work on a car where the part takes 3 weeks to procure and will not offer a loaner car to drive. Not the happy Kia experience I see in their commercials. Won’t buy another Kia and neither will my family members unless they can make this right.

My 2014 Kia Sportage has had the same engine issue 4 times, forcing it to go into limp mode and has requiring a tow. Kia has assured us that it was fixed each time. This last time it happened 200 miles away, forcing me to drive out to pick up my wife. After the issue was fixed, we attempted to drive it back home only to have the same issue happen a mile down the road. Now Kia is refusing to provide us with a rental car during the time that the vehicle is being transported back to us, which could take up to 10 days. Being a family of four with two working parents, this situation is less than ideal. Kia has not proven to be reliable or trusted to make it right. They have owned the issue, but in the end they will leave you out to dry.

Last Friday it was raining and I was parked in a stall at the grocery store. I was on the phone (which comes through the radio) when I heard a loud POPPING sound and the radio went off and the screen completely black. I took the vehicle to AutoZone first as it was believed to be the fuse. The fuses were fine not blown. I then took the car to Car Pros Kia in Carson on Avalon Blvd. They charged me $118.00 for a diagnosis ($668.00) & then they say that the radio is blown. They would have to send it out for repair which would be $550.00 ($668.00-$118.00) and if they found something in it like coins & or toys/foreign objects then it would be an additional $1,500.00 on top of the $668.00. I asked if it was covered and because my car had 106,000 miles it was not covered! Out of ALL of the cars Ive owned this has got to be the worst. 3 MOS after owning it the stitching in the rear seats and the drivers seat began to come apart and of course this too wasnt covered under the warranty. I purchased this vehicle new (traded in my 2006 Volkswagen Passat, which was the worst decision Ive ever made. They dont care about their customers. I will NEVER purchase another KIA.

I just bought a 2012 Kia Sorento in February. It started giving me problems. It stopped all of a sudden when I stopped in a stop sign and the engine was shut off. Two days ago, I was about to drive to work and when I went to the garage and sat in the van, it started but the gear wouldnt move as it was locked. I called the dealer and they told me to call the tow truck and get it towed to the dealership. They towed the van to the dealer, and the next day the guy from the service department called. This dealer is located in Avalon Blvd in Carson. He told me that both the engine and the computer are full of water like a swimming pool. How? I just took the car to the drive-through car wash a few times since I bought it. They told me that the warranty does not cover and I have to pay $1600 to get it fixed. When we first bought the car they lied to us that anything doesnt matter - big or small issues, the warranty is going to cover - and now they dont want to cover. I will never ever recommend anyone to Kia Carson or any other Kia dealer. It’s a bad experience that I have ever had.

I actually have not had a problem with my 2016 Kia Sorrento. It now has 40K miles and it has been relatively trouble free. Dealership was good and provided good service. Not so with Kia customer service. I exercised my purchase option over 50 days ago and have struggled getting a title from them or getting any assistance with temporary tags as the old tags expired. For anyone exercising your option to purchase make sure you do it through your dealership and not directly with Kia as they are completely inept and not helpful.

9/23/2015. This dealership ordered me a replacement tire for my new 2015 Kia Rio LX sedan after only 775 miles put on the car. A steel belt/Nylon cord came apart inside of the tire. Their service adviser was to contact me when the tire came in. On 10/09/2015, I contacted my salesperson about this issue and he got me the service manager. Service manager told me tire had been there for some time. He made an appointment for me that afternoon to come in and have it taken care of. Arrived at the dealership and the same service adviser waited on me. His attitude was pretty bad when asked as to why he didnt call to say this tire had come in for replacement. Worst customer service ever at a car dealership on a new car to say the least. Unknown if I shall go back to them because of this experience.

I went to Kia in Chester, VA after receiving a letter in the mail stating there was a recall on my 2011 Kia Sedona airbags sensor. I was also referred from a mechanic shop who performed a yearly state inspections. I brought my vehicle to Kia maintenance for the recall and they ran a diagnostic on my Sedona. The maintenance person came to after running the diagnostic to explain that my vehicle was not having any issues from the recall and I was then charged $110 diagnostic fee. I really really believe that Kia is running a scam on this by bringing customers in with a recall warning and then charge the customer a diagnostic fee. Kia has lost my business and I will be telling everyone to stay from any Kia product.

Kia South Atlanta has to be the most unprofessional and dishonest business
Kia South Atlanta has to be the most unprofessional and dishonest business that I have ever dealt with. I had two diagnostics prepared from two other locations free of charge on my 08 Kia Rio due to the check engine light. The car broke down 2 months after I purchased it (Fayetteville Ga)on the misfire of a plug . The steering wheel cracked up after 3 months and it was not covered on a new car. The same problem re-occurred. The dealer charged a diagnostic fee of $89 that was to be refundable. The first time the exact same problem occurred, it cost $145 not including my personal towing fee ($50). This time, the same problem cost $216 and the $89 for the diagnostic was not refunded. First, they dont keep their word, so get it in writing. As a first time owner, I expected better treatment; however, I learned my lesson. Service is horrible. They were supposed to call me. When the vehicle was ready repaired, there was no call. I took the car to them at 10:30 on 1/30/12 and it was to be ready at 5:45. They didnt even call me. I called Kia South at 5:40 and they stated the auto was ready. However, upon arrival, they charged for the diagnostic and the auto was, in fact, ready. I am very disappointed in the service and I feel that I should not have to pay the $89 fee when I had already had that action performed which identified the problem. Consumers need to be made aware of hidden fees because Kia will not. I paid $89 for a problem that was identified before I even went to Kia South for the repair. Beware, as a new car owner, the 100000 mile warranty is no good and the service also. Thank God its almost paid off. I will never deal with Kia again.

I have to do work on my car from time to time. The last car was not safe for my little one to ride in, so I went and bought a brand new car. I thought that buying a NEW car, I would not be getting someone Elses problem! In December, my car started needing a jump, then it ran good for a while and then I heard a clicking that sounded like it was coming from the battery area. It has started blowing out air when the air is turned off. The clicking and blowing air seems to come together. Now I hear this while driving. I am rethinking buying the NEW KIA Rio for the safety of my child. Dont worry now there is a popping noise coming from the wheel area? If anyone has any thoughts or ideas, please help! Im the first owner but KIA says they are not sure what it is and Ill have to pay. HELP, please from a loving mother to another loving parent, grandparent, or anyone kind enough to help. People are buying these cars for their family, wife, or kids and it looks like they may not be safe for anyone. I think it is safe to say no KIA I have ever seen gets the gas mileage they claim. I paid off my car but do not plan to buy another KIA no matter what! Please stop buying or try to stop them from selling before they kill people with these unsafe cars!!!!!!!

Have you ever had to replace a radio in the first 3 years of the cars life?
Have you ever had to replace a radio in the first 3 years of the cars life? Unbelievable! Took it to the dealership, and we were over the warranty by 2,000 miles. Back to the original question - Have you ever had to replace a radio within the first three years? Let me take this one step further - have you ever had to replace a radio... period? From my own personal experience of over thirty years of car ownership, I can say with great confidence the answer is NO on both counts... that is until I owned a Kia. Before you purchase this car, consider the possibility that they stock it with POS electronics that will go up shortly after the warranty expires. Oh, almost forgot the cost for a replacement of the POS radio is $2,000. You did not misread that quote. $2,000 to replace something that will likely go up in another three years. Before you think of buying Kia, look elsewhere for manufacturers that are willing to stand behind their product!

I have a 2018 Kia, Sorento. I have been trying to get blind spot mirrors since the the day I purchase it in Nov. 2017. After being told by the dealers salesman, then parts department (Napelton Kia in Elgin, IL.,) I contacted KIA online. I had a chat with Alexis (Friday 6/29/18 at 5:14 CDT). When asked why I couldnt look up parts for my 2018 KIA Sorento, she replied that the parts department had not update (sp) them yet. I should contact their parts specialist sometime MON-FRI from 6:30 A.M.-5:00 P.M. PST. When I said that not having someone to answer parts questions all the time was archaic, the conversational attitude changed. I told her that I had purchased 2 new KIAs this year for cash, her reply was We do not accept cash, sir. You must be confusing us with the dealer. Of course I was talking about the dealer! I cant buy from the manufacturer! That doesnt change the fact that I spent over $40,000 with this company. All I got was the corporate run-around from them. Very disappointed and wish I had bought the Subarus I had been looking at.

Kia has advised me recently that they had overstated the fuel economy ratin
Kia has advised me recently that they had overstated the fuel economy ratings for the 2012 Kia Sorento that I purchased for my wife Barbara earlier this year. This is very disappointing to us as we bought this vehicle primarily based on the EPA mileage estimate on the window sticker. It is now obvious that we were deliberately misled by KIA. We feel like fools! Kia has proposed lowering the mileage estimate on our 2012 Sorento, only 1-2 mpg from 22/32mpg to 21/30mpg. Based on my experience, this is not enough. We are getting only about 25-27mpg highway and have done a lot of that type of driving since we bought the vehicle last spring. Reimbursing us for a 1-2mpg difference is woefully inadequate. If we knew that 26mpg highway was all we were going to get, we would never have purchased this vehicle in the first place.Every time we complained about the mileage disappointment, we were told by many different KIA personnel that we hadnt driven enough miles. Need to break in the engine and drive about 5,000 miles to realize the higher numbers, they said. Then when we passed 5,000 miles and didnt get the promised mileage numbers, they moved the bar and told us to drive 10,000 miles. Now we are at 13,000+ miles and still getting only about 26mpg hwy. This suggests a systemic issue where the entire Kia organization was involved in the cover up. The projected reimbursement of 1-2mpg for the difference between the EPA estimate and new EPA estimate does not come anywhere near making up for the difference between the promised 32mpg highway versus the 26mpg that we are getting. We are only experiencing 18mpg city and 26mpg highway, which is significantly less than the revised estimates of 21/30mpg. The proposed compensation for the additional fuel costs incurred based on 1-2mpg is insufficient and should be 3-4mpg higher. If Kia is truly committed to compensating affected owners fairly, for the unexpected fuel costs resulting from this lower fuel economy experience, they need to do more than this. As someone who spent over 30 years in the customer relations activities, I believe Kia will have 900,000 unhappy former customers who will do long lasting damage to the Kia/Hyundai brands. If Kia truly values its owners, they need to do more to make this right with them. This was the first Kia that we have ever purchased. Based on the way we feel, we will never consider buying another Kia or Hyundai product again.A car owner should have a special relationship with his vehicle. Being pleased at how it looks when he approaches the vehicle and fully satiated with how it performs when he is behind the wheel. However, every day when I drive our Sorento and watch the mpg readout on my dashboard consistently running 3-4mpg less than the revised estimates, I am overcome with feelings of buyers remorse and I feel deceived all over again. In addition, the proposed remedy does not address the negative impact on the value of our Sorento. Right now we feel duped, would never buy another Kia or Hyundai vehicle again and will tell everyone we know that they should not ever trust what Kia or Hyundai says.If Kia really wanted to build long term, trust-based relationships where customer satisfaction is central to their business, they would increase the proposed compensation. Apologies and regret wont cut it. I have significant regret at purchasing my first Kia product. If Kia is fully committed to doing everything to resolve this problem and want to make things right for those affected, increase our compensation.

My car, a 2009 Kia Rondo, had the right front wheel bearing go out at 69114 miles. It was replaced. I just had the left front wheel bearing replaced at 75977 miles. I have a problem with this because these should not have been a problem at this low mileage. I feel, as a safety issue, that Kia should repair the back ones also since the bearings were probably installed poorly to begin with. They wont do it.

There was nothing to finish, I was not past due so she needed to stop treating me like I have poor credit. I tried to pay the mileage with my credit card which they said they cannot accept a credit card payment. Which to me money is money it should not matter. They are not willing to work with you. They are not willing to be friendly. I have never been a day late on a 3.5 year lease. I would stay away from Kia Finance at all costs. I took my car in 2 months ago. My speedometer had stopped working, was consistently reading 0. In addition my passenger side blinker wasnt working. Also my seat belt had frayed. They checked into it, sent it home with me that day, said the computer didnt see anything wrong with the speedometer so it must be the cluster. We will order one in with your seat belt. 1 week later I received a phone call. My seat belt was in. I didnt want to lose my car twice so I said I would bring it in when the cluster was in too and was told she would get back to me. One month later I take my car in and ask about the cluster. Ive been driving without a speedometer too long. Turns out they needed my car in the shop to ship current cluster away, would have been nice to know! So it took 2-3 days, the rental was great and they said come pick up your car. Its fixed. They changed 3 light bulbs apparently, only the one signal was out though. And it cut in and out so I didnt figure bulbs did that but whatever. And the cluster was changed. I love how no one tested it!!! I was doing 0 on the Hwy home and called them to say its still doing 0 and my blinkers not working. So I had to go back the next day. They said they would look into it and call me. I asked for by 3:30 cause I had to pick up my kids with it or a car. At 3:30 the masters of communication at performance Kia had not yet called so once again I had to call them. A poor lady answered said they need my car to figure it out and the guy had already put me down for a rental. Thanks for telling me. Also thanks for not verifying with enterprise that they had a car. Wound up going through national, once again their customer service was great! Loved the rental. And had it not been for the people at national leaving me a voicemail and text message, I would not have known my car was ready for pick up. And if I got there any later than 4 Id have to pay that day myself (this message was at 2). I realized later I had one single missed call from Kia at 1:02 and no message was left and I dont have my phone on me but was consistently checking my messages! I had to cancel my appointment that is necessary for me to attend every two weeks to have time to get there. I get there they tell my speedometer had stopped working because of my accident. This accident they keep telling me about is me banging up my bumper on a snow bank 1 month after I got the car 2.5 years ago. So tell me how my speedometer runs off my bumper! My ex is a mechanic there is no way that could happen. They are attempting to cover their butts for their faulty wiring after they went through various parts and clusters. Needless to say once more they have sent me home with an unsafe car that they told me was safe and driveable!!! Due to their inability to navigate their own electrical system I now have absolutely no lights on my front driver side (Fog blinker and headlight all out completely illegal!! And it was fine when I brought it there.) and my passenger front blinker is still out. The customer service manager was rude and its impossible to communicate with ** who make it seem like theres never a problem and if it is its your own fault. Currently awaiting Kia Canadas call back because they can have it towed in because Im not getting in an accident because they continuously test life and ability to not get ticketed through their inability to do their jobs and test stuff before they send it home. :( Im just sick of the same problem and cant get anywhere with this! Im at a standstill.

I took my car to KIA Shop for repairs after an accident in mid Jan 2019. I was promised it would come out as good as new but sadly it came out looking awful. I took it back and they demanded extra money if I want any more work done. I contacted their headquarters and after a series of back and forth, they said they would do the repairs. Initial agreement involved changing of bumper which they refused to do until I pressed. I had to call them up on Facebook before I was told that the repairs will be done. We are now in Mid-March and the car is still with them. The most annoying thing is they dont even call to give status update. I have to be the one to do the calling. I have been using UBER since the car was with them and spending extra-budgetary. I have resolved that whatever happens, I will NEVER use KIA services again and I will go out of my way to ensure that nobody I know uses KIA services for any reason.

Why should KMFUSA allow WU to charge customers for not enrolling in monthly autopay? Many car companies do not charge an extra fee for either autopay or monthly one-time payments from customers once the money is directly paid from the customers bank accounts. Please get rid of WU and get a company that can provide the same service without this extra fee. Is Kia Care Department aware of WU manipulations of its financially overburden customers who are trying hard to make monthly payments? I inherited my parents 2003 Kia Spectra. I was driving it on the freeway when all of a sudden the right rear tire froze up causing me to have to pull over to the small shoulder in the inside lane. I immediately put on my hazards as I was still halfway in the lane. I turned the car off then back on again. I was then able to continue on to my destination. When I got into the car again to go home, it seemed to run fine. Then when almost home it did it again. I was luckily close to a Les Schwab who said it was my brake lining, which had broken in half. They said that it has been happening to 2003 to 2005 Kias, they had three just last week. I have heard of no recall for this problem, but something needs to be done about this before someone is killed. I have to have them repaired, which cost me $270.

I will never buy another Kia. Period. We contacted the Kia Corporate office to help with an issue we had after our car broke down on the side of the interstate 2 times after being serviced at 2 different Kia dealerships, Langdale Kia in Valdosta and Crown Kia in Saint Petersburg. Kia Corporate gave us the run around, telling us they would send our service request upper management to have it approved. After 3 weeks, they finally told us that no our car wasn’t under warranty! What?! It’s like they didn’t even read what we submitted. Kia doesn’t know how to fix their own vehicles and doesn’t care if they break down multiple times. This has been a horrible experience. Now we have a car we own that can’t be repaired since Kia doesn’t even know how to fix it.

I bought a new car from Kia in November at 9 pm. After spending about 3 hrs there because the salesmen who promised to give me a better deal went home without calling me they then tried to charge me about a 100.00 more than the other dealer. The next day I noticed a small ding in door but was going to let it go until I noticed part of the rear bumper area had waves or indentations throughout it. I finally got it fixed after being laughed at originally. Three months ago I noticed the paint on my car starting to pop. There are no dents on the car and it is garage kept yet they are trying to avoid fixing it and blaming it on something contaminating the paint. This is garage kept in a personal parking spot at work with no trees around it. I partially blame the dealer. But for Kia corporate not to take action is inexcusable. I have missed work because of the stress this has put on me and I now may have to take legal action to get it fixed

I purchased a 2013 Kia Sorento in mid-2012. We love the model and its features; however, the car has less than 12,000 miles on it and its making us question the quality of the electronics installed in the brand. The electronic throttle control has now failed twice on my wife while heading to work. I mean, a total failure in rush hour traffic no less! It is a major safety related issue and KIA needs to man up and get it right. So far, however, Coleman KIA in Ewing, New Jersey has been anything but zealous, accommodating or attentive in this matter. IMO, Their 1st attempt at a fix was a software REBOOT/ UPDATE.This morning, it happened again (6 days later), again displaying a CEL/MIL and entering limp mode (correlating code P0638, 2nd time) along with 0 throttle response, on the interstate no less! My wife was fortunate enough to be able to coast it into the breakdown lane and restart it, though in limp mode. These incidents have put my family at great risk. Im not happy about this at all and can only wring my hands as I prepare for the We cleaned the throttle body again, statement noted on the service ticket. Make no bones, KIA. I will not hesitate to litigate if any harm befalls me or mine because of this. I just hope you got it right this time. Kia Optima Hybrid Started on Its Own due to faulty push start. - Kia has an uncanny way of stating the same corporate line that the vehicle operates as designed when you tell them there is something wrong with the car. All one has to do is You Tube a woman who had a child in her Kia truck that took control of her and raced the car on a highway at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. This happened for over 30 miles and they settled with her only because it was on the police cam.In my case, my Kia literally started on its own and rolled down a hill into the woods. When I called Kia to tell them what had happened, they said the same line to me as they did to that woman with the truck. When I told Kia that the same situation was shown on You Tube where a lady had a Hybrid that she recorded to start on its own. Yet Kia is holding firm that the car does not want do that. The bottom line is Kia is a terrible car company. Of all of these complaints on here, we need real satisfaction. For two days my new vehicle with only 23000 miles was having trouble starting. The second day was a Saturday. Since this happened to me after 5pm on a Saturday there was no one at the service department. I spoke with an operator who had NO IDEA how to help me or who to direct me to. Frustrated, she directed me the 24 hour road side assistance. I called them and they too were unhelpful. They told me the only thing they could do was tow my vehicle. I said, My vehicle is running at the moment, so where would you tow it to? I asked if road side assistance could come check my battery and was told NO, the ONLY thing they can do is tow your vehicle. Since that would be of no help, I drove to an auto zone. Within 2 minutes a representative from their store was helping me and CHECKED THE BATTERY, which was DEAD. Having no choice but to replace the battery AND no assistance from ANYONE AT KIA, I had to purchase one from AUTO ZONE. Once home, I learned the battery is covered under warranty. Auto Zone would not take the battery back as it had already been put in. I was told that you might be willing to offer the customer service I did not receive in the beginning by refunding the money I spend on a battery. I called my customer service representative and he told me his hands were tied. What kind of service is this? Does KIA care more about $119 than customer service?!? I bought a KIA thinking that the customer service and vehicle would be better than those I have had in the past. So far, I am not thrilled with my purchase.

We bought our Kia Rio 4 years ago and is now on its 20k km. We have never had a major problem with the car. Its got enough power and speed when driving along an incline. Every 6 months, we see to it that we visit the service center and have it checked. When you look at it from the outside, it seems that its small and not spacious at all but when you are inside, the knee clearance is about 3/4 foot and could accommodate 4 people at the back sitting comfortably. On the other hand, I noticed that there are times when you press the gas, the car doesnt respond instantaneously (there is a split-second lag) or does not respond at all. So what I normally do is I press the break until the rpm gauge drops then I start from first gear and work my way up the next gear. Last night while cruising, there was a moment that I couldnt go to the next gear so I had to put the car on neutral, then drive mode, then it responded as it should. I hope that this is just normal to automatic transmission cars and doesnt become worse if ever this really is a problem. Ive seen on the road a new Kia Grand Carnival and it looks awesome. Im wondering how much it costs.

Told me to let me know if any more problems. Kept having the issue, so was told they would fix it when I brought it in for my oil change. Got at my appt 20 min early and there service advisors didnt help us for over 20 min. Had a few more minor issues to look at too. Was told wait time would be 2 hrs. Sat for over 3 1/2 hrs and my vehicle wasnt fixed because they now had to order parts. Tried to tell me on part was covered under warranty. Had less than 13,00 miles and had purchased extended warranty. Caused a scene in the waiting room where other customers were, so he said they would cover it. Called corporate to file a complaint and they were worthless. Gave contacted them 3 x and no results. They contacted dealership because I wanted my survey. Was told by corporate that they didnt have my email address, but yet it was on my service invoice. Service manager said that he doesnt have anything to do with, but yet corporate says they do. Nothing like covering each others **. WILL NOT EVER BUY ANOTHER KIA. THINKING OF TELL THEM THEY CAN KEEP THEIR PIECE OF ** CAR AND THEIR SERVICE AND TAKE THE LOSS.

On 10/12/2021, I brought my 08 Kia Sedona EX with 181k miles in for a Oil Change at Plaza KIA, Brooklyn NY. And was returned to me with the Oil Pressure light on dashboard followed by the Check Engine light. The mechanic saw the dashboards lights on while backing out the garage and tried to reset them, but to no avail. The Service Manager ran over claiming the mechanic done nothing wrong. Although, my vehicle didnt go in with these lights on. Kia claims no fault and blames the age of the vehicle. The Service Manager went on to state that they gave me a free diagnostic worth $129 and concluded that the Oil Sensor is the problem. And, that this repair and labor is a consumer purchase. The Mechanic attempted to inspect and troubleshoot this issue and was stopped by the Service Manager. I found this to be appalling and upsetting that my vehicle drove in to KIA fine and came out needing repair work that I have to pay for? Took vehicle to a independent shop nearby, They did inspection and found, 1) The Oil Sensor was not the issue and think its the Oil Pump... 2) KIA put 5W-30 Oil in instead of 10W-40 Oil for such a high mileage vehicle, stating 5W-30 is like water and best when vehicle was new... 3) That I should stop driving the vehicle immediately before the engine eats itself from low oil pressure. So, I called corporate, they claim no fault, wont take any steps or actions to resolve this issue, and asked that I no longer come to them for service. To me, this look like mechanical neglect and attempted cover up by KIA. So, So Upset. Buyer Beware!!!

I have been told by 3 mechanics at various places that there have been multiple bulletins out about this issue with the rack and pinion with KIA Sorentos yet KIA will not cover the issue or have a recall! I think it is time to get the news media involved. There is something wrong with this!!!!!

For all of you people thinking of buying a Kia, read this. Bought a brand new 2012 Kia Sorento, not a demo, right out of the show room. At 800 km, head gasket had to be re-placed. At 1500 km, oil pan seal had to be replaced. At 2000 km, engine block had to be replaced. After arguing days with Kia Longueil and Kia Canada, we got them to replace the entire motor instead of re-building my engine. Then we went to pick up the truck and the electrical blew. Kia Canada does not stand behind their product at all! We requested to have the vehicle changed for a new one from the minute we started having these problems, and was told no but we will get free oil change. My truck that I paid over $40,000 for a new vehicle experience has been ruined by Kia Canada. I am now stuck with a hunk of junk. For my loss of time out of the office, anxiety and fear my truck will break down, Kia Canada offered me a free oil change. If I ever sell or trade in my truck which I will, what do I say when I am asked if any major repairs have been done to the vehicle? To my surprise Kia doesn’t stand behind their product. Too bad we do not have a lemon law in Canada. I would never buy a Kia again! If you research Kia Sorento, I am not the only person to have major problems with the vehicle or Kia Canada.Don’t buy a Kia!

2015 Soul a big loser. Under powered especially with air turned on. So-so gas mileage. I live in FL, the air conditioner has a hard time keeping car cool once it hits 90 degrees. Have to keep on recycle a lot. Stupid stuff Kia did: Cant install a cargo cover in base model, I guess they dont want to sell them; Cant purchase body side moldings, I guess they want you to bring the car into their shops to fix all the dings. The only thing that saves this car is the warranty.

After purchasing a new Kia Sport and financing it through the Kia finance I have had one bad experience after another. I set the vehicle up on auto payment and that went fine for 1 month. After 1 month Feb 2016 I received a letter stating the payment was not made. I called and explain to the finance rep that it was set up on auto payment and that I even tried to go online and make the payment and I was not able. After some looking into the matter the rep informed me the car was totaled and they had some sort of insurance hold on it. I told them this was a mistake as the car was not totaled . After verifying insurance etc... they have not been able to successfully release the hold on this vehicle. It is now May 28th and I have called at least 10 times to resolve the issue with them with no success. Just a lot of promises to call me back, to get the issue resolved and still no success. They do not seem to have any clue how to resolve issue from department to department. Now after 3 months they are sending me collection notices and threatening letters. I have consistently attempted to rectify the problem and they are ineffective and lack any sort of resolution capacity. PLEASE KIA get it together. I refuse to pay another dime till I have something in writing stating this situation is your problem. I do not want my credit ruined because you put a hold on my vehicle by mistake. And furthermore what about the other party who totaled their vehicle. What misfortune has KIA perpetrated on them.

I bought the used Kia in Pietermaritzburg branch and a few days after purchasing it the car got stuck with me. All the gears didnt want to go in. The clutch pedal was normal but the gear itself was just stiff. I had to park on the side of the road and called for assistance. When their technical arrived the car was back to normal and he assumed the rubber mat was stuck under the clutch. I then drove off feeling a little embarrassed. Three days down the line driving around turn on my lunch break same thing happened and I parked on the side of the road, switched off the engine and waited a bit. I started the engine and the gears were back to normal. The following day driving a friend to airport I got stuck on heavy traffic wherein a truck had broken down on N3 to Durban. I tried to get myself a safer spot and parked the car for like 5 minutes and started the engine. Again it was ok. The following day I informed the sales manager at KIA who said I must drive with their technical to see if the car will have that problem. I informed her that the car does that especially when I am driving in traffic. So we drove off with the technician and the car was ok. We returned back and I was asked to bring in the car so they could do a diagnostic check. I brought it back the following day and the result that they told me was that the car did not show any problems on their computer. The implication of that was that they cannot help me if they cannot pick up the problem.I held a meeting with the owner of the branch and he told me same story. I was angry and confused not knowing what I need to do in this case. So I am currently stuck with a vehicle which is like new because it had 1500km when I bought it, but I am unhappy. I got stuck recently in the morning on my way to work, and every time it happens I have to park on the side and let it cool down I would say. It is very frustrating and even more frustrating to know that the company says they cannot assist with this problem.

An hour or so later they call me and tell me they cannot work on it because it is a K900 and only certain dealerships can work on them, which the closest one is Schaumberg or Elmhurst, IL. This is 3 hours away from me!!! I have to drive 3 hours away, wait and drive 3 hours back - this is ridiculous!!! What if they cant fix it there? I made a trip for nothing... I traded in my 2011 Kia Sorento (that I loved!) and purchased a 2015 Kia Sorento in July 2014. On November 7, 2014, my husband and I were driving to the dealership for an oil change and then headed out of town for the weekend. We were about 15 miles from the dealership, on a three-lane interstate in rush hour traffic going 70 mph when the engine killed without any warning. Luckily we were able to get to the side of the road safely. We were unable to start the vehicle yet, all the lights would come on. We called the dealership and they told us to call Roadside Assistance. We had the Sorento towed to the dealership. They said a tech would look at it over the weekend and offered the number to Enterprise Car Rentals. We rented (and paid for) a vehicle (A 2015 KIA SORENTO with the same amount of miles!) so we could continue on our trip. On November 10, 2014, the dealership called to say the engine had blown, they didnt know why, and had never seen this in a brand new car. My husband had to suggest that they offer a loaner car. As of today, November 17, 2014, I still have the loaner, supposedly the new engine has arrived at the dealership yet now they need to order a new starter because that died too after trying to start the vehicle when the engine died (??). I am NOT a happy Kia customer and am not happy with their product to say the least. Now I am tied into a hefty finance agreement for a substandard vehicle that has been out of commission for 10 days and counting. I wish I would have purchased a Chevy Traverse.

Leased the 2017 KIA Niro EX Hybrid car on Sunday and drove home 10+ miles.
Leased the 2017 KIA Niro EX Hybrid car on Sunday and drove home 10+ miles. Odometer had 15 miles on it. Left the car in the garage for two days and attempted to drive it early Wednesday. Backing out of the garage and was steering onto the street when the power steering warning light came on and steering was very difficult and noisy (growling) - vibrating while turning the wheel itself. Pulled back into the garage and all warning lights came on. Shut the car off and retried several times. Waited with the car idling. Battery warning light came on. Let the car sit and looked in the manual for answers. Tried backing up again and all the warning lights came on again, and steering was again very difficult. Drove back into the garage. Called the roadside assistance number and the flatbed truck took the 2017 KIA Niro EX back to the dealership. The tow driver had much trouble getting the car out of the garage and maneuvered onto the flatbed. This is a serious safety issue to us because the car could barely steer. Received call from service at KIA Cerritos saying power steering motor had to be replaced and that Korean engineers were flying out to look at the car personally. Still do not have a car, but we are in limbo now about the brand itself and are looking again at Toyota.KIA of Cerritos - a very short description of our encounter before and after. Salesman said we could have leather seats in the base model, that it takes about an hour. When we went through the agreement, he instead was selling us a 35k vehicle. I asked, how did we go from 22.5k to 35k. He wouldn’t show us the numbers through the whole process. We were very pressured to take this vehicle, and the salesman kept referring back to a ‘pre-delivery’ inspection, which seemed odd - like something was wrong. Keep in mind, this is the shortest version. After the KIA Niro steering failure and the tow truck delivered the vehicle, I had to sit through several more interviews at the Cerritos dealership, being shuffled around from office to office all afternoon, much like the initial sales day. A Head of Sales man told me the General Manager said no to my request to return the car and unwind the deal of less than 72 hours. I was going to just leave, and then I went in to confront the supposed General Manager. He said, No, Im not the General Manager, Im the Service Dept. Manager. Then he took me in to see Joe **, the real General Manager of KIA of Cerritos. The conversation with the Cerritos dealership General Manager, Joe **, was very short. He simply said he wont buy-back because its now a used car with 30 miles on it. He said he wont call back the DMV title in our name.I left the dealership and the car, which I still hadnt driven myself, in the service dept. to be fixed. When I got home I called a ‘lemon law’ consultant. He was very knowledgeable and said the dealership wouldnt have filed with DMV yet as its too early and that its usually done weekly or monthly. Remember we had the car less than 72 hours. It was late Sunday when we drove the car into our garage, and the next day was a holiday, President’s Day. So, that left Tuesday, and I attempted to drive the car Wednesday at 4am. I had also called Kia Motors Finance and they told me they couldnt find the VIN number - we had no account on file yet. In their opinion, there was no real reason for us not to be able to walk away and find another car. And of course after this, another dealership. We are still in limbo about our lease with KIA and the return of our brand new 2017 KIA Niro EX Hybrid.

We bought a Kia Sportage new. The engine blew on the interstate. No engine warning lights, nothing at all. Engine is blown. We have meticulously maintained this car and gave the records. 139K miles and it is now dead. Dealer diagnosed engine failure consistent with other recalled Kia/Hyundai motors but they refused to replace engine. Kia corporate (consumer affairs) was very helpful at first but as soon as the dealer confirmed a defective engine consumer affairs has gone silent. They do not return calls after at least 10 messages. BEWARE of the 2.0L and the 2.4L Theta II engines. They are defective. Kia recalled only a small number of them. A large number are failing. Google Kia engine failure and start reading. Never ever buy a used Kia. Even replacement engines are failing. Dont expect Kia/Hyundai to stand behind their products. 131 complaints on NHTSA site on this specific make, year, and model.

I was having my van serviced and fixed. I needed an oil change when my air bag light and check engine light came on. The dealership said that in order to check out the problems it would cost me $90.00 per problem. So I went to lock my doors, and the remote didnt work so I had them look at that. Now the other remote doesnt work either so they checked that out too. They said both remotes do not work . I find it a little weird that both dont work. On 11/25/18 I purchased a vehicle from KIA of Irvine. They totally scammed me on the service and maintenance contracts and also the theft deterrent on the car. They went as far as to fraudulently forged my signatures on the maintenance and service contracts. Those two added up to $4000.00, they also snuck in $1495.00 for the theft. So a total of $5495.00 added to my contract without my knowledge of it. The people that work in finance are nothing less than thieves and liars. None. And for you people that work in sales your hands arent clean either. You might not be directly involved in the fraud and the Payment Packing that is being used in finance, all of you most definitely are aware of whats going on over there in finance. When you guys forged my signature on those two contracts, you then submitted them for payment and then received payment for them. That is fraud!! And I am 100% convinced that the owner of this dealership has got to be aware of the practices being used there to commit fraud to scam their customers out of money. HE KNOWS. Every one in sales and finance are all thiefs and I assure you, that you will get what you have coming.

KIA Picanto 2016 Dont trust KIA Motors! The first technical problem that occurred with the KIA was in August, the car was taken to the KIA service in order to fix the problem. I was told that the problem had been entirely fixed and would not happen again. However, after a month the exact same problem occurred. The car completely stopped in the middle of the road and the steering wheel locked making it impossible for me to move the car somewhere safe. I had two young children in the back and this situation could have easily caused an extremely serious accident with not just myself and my family but others on the road. The car was taken to the KIA service in order to fix the same problem once again. This exact same problem has now occurred three times and each time it has caused me an overwhelming deal of stress, money and time. I am extremely frustrated and angry with this entire situation, the problem had supposedly been dealt with, I am not comfortable driving this car anymore as it is clearly not up to road safety standards and would never want to risk putting the life of my children or others on the road in any kind of danger.

Purchased a Kia Rondo EXV6 in May 2008. Have had ongoing issues with the transmission which we started to notice around 71,000km. We brought the car in, they didnt find anything wrong. We followed our required maintenance plan and my husband is very particular about high maintenance for our vehicles. My husband purchased the extended warranty. At the time we purchased it he was told the extended warranty covered the car as though it were brand new! My husband specifically asked if the transmission drops out of this thing at 199,000kms, will it be covered? Answer was an emphatic “Yes, for sure! Guaranteed!”That was a lie. We repeatedly brought the car into two different dealerships with transmission complaints. And until last summer, the dealerships diagnostic tests deemed there was no problem found. Each time we had to pay over $100 for the diagnostic only to be told they didnt find a problem. Last summer, there was finally an acknowledgement that they found a problem with the transmission during their diagnostic. We thought “Wonderful, it will finally be fixed!” No such thing. We found out the dealership had to report to the Kia Protect extended warranty insurance company and received permission from them. They sent an adjuster out to test our car. Of course the adjuster said there was no issue and refused the repair. Approximately two weeks ago, the heater and the heater blower went on the car. We were in an extreme cold alert in our area during that time. I brought the car in for repair and once again reported the problem with the transmission. This time I pinpointed what gears were slipping when shifting and it was getting bad. We received a message from the dealership - they confirmed the transmission was not shifting properly. They indicated they would have to put the claim through the extended warranty company and then wait for approval. In the meantime, they temporarily fixed my heater so I could take my car. The next week the heat went again and at the same time the dealership asked me to bring the car in for inspection by an extended warranty company assessor. The assessor acknowledged the problem with the transmission and said it needed to be fixed. He commented to the dealerships service department that our car was in really great shape and it was worth doing the repairs because it was in such great shape. We were relieved and happy. We thought this meant the transmission would FINALLY be fixed. The next call we received was from the dealership - they asked us to bring in our proof of maintenance paperwork as the EWC (extended warranty company) was now saying they would reject the repair because we did not follow the recommended maintenance. We did the required maintenance as outlined in our Owners Manual and as advised by the dealership. We brought our paperwork in. The next call we received was from the EWC. First they tried to argue with my husband about the recommended maintenance. My husband argued that we performed our required maintenance and that not doing the recommended maintenance did not void our warranty as it wasnt a requirement. When the EWC saw this angle was not going to work, they told my husband that the car was only worth $2500 and the repairs would cost more than that so they would not approve it. My husband argued and we looked up the black book value of our car. We found a car with approximately the same kms was worth at least $4000 more than that. I took to social media to vent my frustrations and suddenly my husband receives a call from an ombudsman from Kia Canada. He spouted the same crap as the guy before. I again took to social media and then my husband received a call offering us a discounted rate of $900 to rebuild the transmission and this would include the repair of the heater and heater blower. We refused. We dont believe this company is being above board with us. They are not honouring what we were told when we purchased the warranty. This warranty is a scam. If they have no intention of repairing the vehicle then why cover it until 200,000km?!! This company should be reviewed by the government for the sales of these warranties.

The week after I bought my Kia, the Kia dealership in my neighborhood changed to a Lexus. You would have thought the sales team would have told me when selling me my car. I thought I was getting a dealer near my place for easy repairs. So when I broke down with a flat tire, I called roadside. Im on a lease so covered. But they said I had to have my car towed to two cities away unless I wanted to pay for it and apply for reimbursement. They said Id just have to wait for my reimbursement. That reimbursement was denied after two months of waiting. According to Kia, I should have had my car towed and repaired over an hour away rather than the block from my house at the Discount Tire center I took it to.Trying to get them to respond is also a system set up to make the customer just give up: youre not allowed to talk directly to the department making the decision. Each call is to another department that has to advocate for you. That department is always backed up with calls. So to get 300 dollars back from an allegedly covered roadside service need, it has taken three months and it was denied because they closed the Kia dealership in my city.

While driving to see family 260 miles from home in our 2012 Kia Sorento with our 3 children and dog in the car, the engine started making a knocking noise. No check engine light came on and we had no warning. Since it was -10 degrees outside and we have our 5 month old baby, we tried to make it to the exit. Unfortunately about 2 miles after the noise started, the car completely died! We pulled over and tried to restart it with no luck. This car has 62,000 miles. Thats it! Tow insurance ended at 60,000 miles (of course) and we had to sit with the state trooper because it was so cold outside. The dealership we had it towed to was very helpful (Prestige Kia Eau Claire, WI). However Kia headquarters was awful to us. No help with a rental or the tow. Turns out the engine is seized and needs to be replaced. Garbage! We will never buy another Kia. Now we have to drive all the way back to get our car. Very unhappy!

They told me that there was nothing that they could do, so I let it go because it wasnt very noticeable, but that was my mistake. After that, more and more problems began to occur like the blinker lights blow out every couple of months. Twice, they blow out at the end of the drive way. I brought my car right back to them and all they did was replace it, but the very last time, I refused to take my car back until they did some further investigation. They did, and the results were that they had a short, so I went. After another couple of months, they blew out again. The air bag light comes on and goes off. They were supposed to fix it again, but like everything Kia supposedly fixed, doesnt last very long but only a few months. My chamber and chassis cannot be aligned per tires, plus I brought the 3 year alignment when I purchased new tires from them last year, but have never had a proper alignment. They suggested that I take it to the dealer. I took it to the dealer in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. All of these existing problems, the dealer did not fix or dont want to produce paper for.Now that the warranty is no longer effective, they want me to pay for all of the problems that were never addressed by corporate or the dealer Stokes Hodges Kia of Augusta, GA customer service. They have had about 4 or 5 managers since the purchase of my car. I was considering buying another Kia some time ago, but with the many ongoing problems I had with my Kia, I would never buy another Kia ever in life. You have poor customer service. You guys have left a bad taste in my mouth. I want rest until justice is serviced.

I leased a Kia Optima from Kia of West Nyack NY. I had paid for lease & wear coverage ($449) because it was my first Kia. I wasn’t sure if I would lease again from them. Didn’t want to get hit with a high bill at the end of lease. So 3 years go by I return my lease. Get my cost $750 end of lease fees. Which would have been fine if the dealership didn’t pocket the $449. They never purchased the coverage. When I called the company to file my claim. The paperwork & brochures were from. They said they never worked with Kia of West Nyack. WOW bunch of crooks! They were selling the dealership & knew I wouldn’t know until 3 years later. This company didn’t make it right. Which tells me a lot about How they care about their customers. All I asked was for $250 of additional cost. The other monies I would have had to pay regardless. Don’t buy Kia!!!!

It has been two months since I turned in my lease. At the time of turning in my lease, I was informed by the dealership that KIA MOTOR FINANCE would assist in creating an installment payment plan. Well, I was misinformed, and KIA MOTOR FINANCE is not willing to help a customer who recently got another lease from Kia. My wifes contract is coming up as well, and I was thinking of leasing another KIA vehicle, but after being just notified that KIA MOTOR FINANCE is not willing to assist with any payment plan and is ready to report it to the credit bureau, I see what type of COMPANY they are running. All they care is ruining someones credit who is willing to pay the debt off. Note, I am still making my monthly payments and have since I turned the car in January of this year. In conclusion, KIA FINANCE is not willing to work with anyone, and all they care is about their necks. Thanks, Kia for helping out a customer and a VET.

I purchased a 2015 KIA Sorento in July of 2014 at Brockville KIA. It was all I wanted it to be. On November 28/2014 I had an accident. I slid through a T-intersection and into a steep but not deep ditch. I expect I was going 10kph as it was in town and the streets were slippery. The Sorento sustained damage to the front lower bumper and front rim/wheel, however the air bags deployed (curtain bags-ceiling and both front seat air bags). The Sorento was taken to Carstar Brockville, which shares a lot with the Brockville KIA dealer where I had purchased. On Nov. 29th the estimate came in at approx. $23000 to repair. I was expecting to have truck ready in a couple weeks. It is now Jan. 26th 2015 and I still have no Sorento. Kia Canadas service has been frustrating and extremely disappointing, as they have made many promises about delivery, but to no avail. I have spoken to customer reps at KIA (claim#**) on too many occasions to mention. More frustrations....As far as Economical Mutual Insurance I believe, if they had done their job in November or early Dec. the Sorento would have been replaced. The parts (air bags/seats were and are still not available). Economical did provide me with a check for $1000 for non-use on rental for the month of Dec. (still in my pocket-not cashed), however it was the end of the benefit at 30 days. Kia Brockville, and Brister Insurance brokers are covering the charges for the vehicle I am using in month 2.Approaching the end of Jan. and still no delivery dates for missing parts. I have pressured for answers from all involved but have just encountered more frustrations and more false promises. As a first time Kia buyer it has tested my patience and understanding of the system. Economical has done a poor job, only doing what they had to and no more. They even suggested on several occasions that, It is not our fault and even suggested that the repair shop put the old seats in and let me drive until new seats arrive (no air bags). The shop refused... I am hoping that you can help.

I need my rotors resurfaced before I even need brakes at 20,000 miles. I went all the way up the ladder with Kia and they keep coming back with The warranty was only for 12k miles. The car should not have a problem with rotors already. Their reasoning is I could have driven through puddles which cooled down the rotors so then they heat back up and cause problems. And a bunch of other lousy excuses. Luckily, this 38k car is a lease and goes back in six months.

I just purchased my new Kia Soul mid-2012. It was disappointing enough that the promised MPG was far off from what was advertised. I did purchase the vehicle because of the purposed fuel ratings that were high. Obviously that did not happen for me and thousands of other consumers! But on to my other problem. My vehicle smells like mold! I took my car in for the oil change and also let them know of the odor. The service rep said they would check it out. I waited for my vehicle and when I went to check out, the rep told me they sprayed the vehicle hose where the a/c unit was with some type of freshener. He showed me a can that blasts the product through the hose. They proceeded to let me know that other people had complained of the same issue. I asked what caused this, he said from the a/c unit, rain, and parking under trees! What?! Its a faulty design from the a/c drain line! He stated I needed to change the filter which is located behind the glove compartment about every year to prevent the smell from coming back at a rate of $150! Are you kidding? Why do I have to pay for a defect in the lines for the a/c unit? He said thats just the way it is. He did say that they take care of it the first time. If its an issue, then just take care of the problem, forever. Only a few weeks have passed and the smell is back. The crazy thing is I got bronchitis and cant seem to get over it! Ive never had an issue with this in the past. I wonder if my car is a factor?! We all know mold is hazardous to peoples health and it can cause all types of serious health issues. Im just saying?! Im not sure what to do at this point. I cant afford $150 every few months to have the filter changed. Its just crazy to me.

Bought a used Kia Sorento 2014 from the dealership back on January 2016. Sometime in December 2016 started having problems with the doors not locking. Did not have chance to bring it to the dealer to check until February. Apparently, something is wrong with one of the Fuse and they need to replace the entire Junction box. I thought this would be a manufacturing problem and it will be covered by Kia. Unfortunately, it is not and the cost would be $875.00. Warranty is over 1 year so it will not be covered. On top of that, the dealer charged me an additional $120 because I also mentioned to check the rear view camera because it stopped working.A word of advice, Kia will charge you an extra diagnostic fee for every problem you want them to check. Tell me if this is not a rip off. Unable to do the repairs because the cost is too high so my doors do not lock and my rear camera is not working. I would never purchase another Kia and would not recommend it to anyone.

I purchased a Kia 2004 Sorento from a local Kia dealer. About 2 years before the warranty was up (I bought it used from them and they only gave me the remaining 1st 5 year warranty), the car started making loud noises from the transmission/transfer case area. Then, while driving on the highway, the wheel basically locked up. I contacted the dealer, took it in, and they replaced a few parts but did not find out what was actually going on. After getting the car back, about 2 weeks later, it started again so I took it in again to them. They changed the oil in the front and told me to drive some more. Then 30 days before my warranty was up, it acted up again, and I took it in and they did nothing but check the oil again. So, almost 2 months later (30 days give or take after the warranty was up), my transfer case went out. I blew a seal and almost totally destroyed it. I took it back to Kia in Liberty Lake, WA and they told me that they would not cover it because it was not the main reason I kept bringing it in for. After researching, I found that this seemed to be a known issue with them and if their shop would have taken the time to check everything, they could have saved all those visits and unnecessary repairs. So, they wanted just under $5,000 to replace the transfer case. Well, I owed only $8,000, so to me, this was not right. I had to search around for a used transfer case because I had Torque on Demand version which was very hard to locate. I found a used one and had it replaced and only after 1 year later, the same exact thing occurred. Now that Ive had this car for a while and it is older, I have found so many people with the same issue but Kia refuses to do anything. You cannot tell me they do not know that this is a major issue. When the first time the wheel locked up, I was in major traffic and on the 2nd time, I was still in traffic but was lucky no one was behind me. I do not understand why/how KIA is not being made to replace these. Oh, and the manager at the service center put in his system that I refused service so that kept me from getting help from the dealer or corporation. Wow! Yes, I refused service on a lemon car.

I took my brand new Kia 2013 (purchased in October 2012) in because I noticed peeling paint and rust spots. They had me bring it in numerous times, took pictures, etc. to only be told that it was my fault. They said the rust looks like a rock hit it, and the peeling paint must be from someone getting in and out of the car. They told us that our paint and corrosion warranty didnt cover this. The car is brand new and we dont drive too far in it. I also keep our cars very clean, both inside and outside. My husband works from home and I work 5 minutes from home so there is no excessive use in our car. Even if there was, there is no way this should happen. I purchased a 2004 Nissan Altima in February of 04 and just sold it in June. It had no paint issues nor rust. Also, the city gas mileage isnt what they advertise and we told them about that. They simply said, there are no current recalls. Also, when we start the car first time of the day and reverse, it makes a grinding noise. I told them about this, they checked it out 3 times now, and said they cant reproduce the sound. Also, when we bought the car, we asked for a 3rd spare key. The saleswoman said this would be no problem. We called, emailed, and showed up in person and each time were told that it would be sent to us. This began in October of 2012 when we bought it and it is now August 2013 and we have never received a key. They literally begged us for a great review when we bought the car and we gave it to them because there were no issues immediately. They raved how their customer support was top of the line, I DISAGREE! I plan on pursuing my complaints with the BBB, local news, consumer reports, and via word of mouth.

2011 Kia Soul, all warranty work completed at local dealership. Key fobs quit working, couldnt lock the hatch with the manual key. 58,000 miles still under warranty. Took to dealer to have key fobs reprogrammed. Was told it was a fuse block that was not covered under warranty at a cost of $50.00. I said go ahead, do the repairs. Called me back, wasnt fuse block. They called Kia for technical support and whatever Kia techs told them burnt up the computer in car. They have had it for 2 weeks. Car still wont start. At least it started with the manual key when I took it in. NEVER BUY A KIA, read these reviews. Have a 2011 Kia wont start for sale. Still owe about 5k on it. Sounds like its going to be a parts car.

I have been driving a 2009 Kia Spectra for about two years now. The carpet gets wet every time it rains & there are puddles under the doors. I also noticed a sloshing sound when I drive coming from under the car. I took it to Castruccis Kia dealership in Miamisburg Ohio to have the leak checked out. They said they tried to get water into the car by putting it in the car wash but it did not leak. They replaced the seals anyway but they obviously replaced the wrong ones because water is still getting into the car soaking the carpet causing mold to grow. I also noticed that the car is lunging forward and racing when I come to a stop sometimes. Castruccis refuses to fix the problem with my car & will not return my calls. Does anyone else have problems like this with their Kia? I did see on another website that a few others were having similar problems & it was not just with Spectras.

We purchased this vehicle in April of 2017 and have regretted our purchase because of the numerous issues. We have wasted many hours trying to get warranty repairs on faulty brakes and electrical system problems and are still trying. Not only does this hybrid have very poor gas mileage and many strange glitches, it is also very difficult to get any service done as each of the dealerships only staff 1 hybrid technician. We have been to 3 different dealerships and in communication with the corporate office about a recurring abs system malfunction that they cannot figure out how to fix. It is extremely unsettling to have a check brakes alert pop up 2-3 times a month on a car that is still under warranty and extremely frustrating to be unable to get this company to stand behind their product and fix a potentially life-threatening problem. Protect your family by not buying a KIA!

I leased a 2019 Stinger GT after turning in my Optima a year early. I leased the car on 12/18/18. Within the first 30 days my rear defroster made a popping noise and shorted out. I took it back to the dealership and they supposedly fixed the issue. On May 14th on my way into work the car made the same noise. I called the dealership to have it looked at again. I got into my car after work, within a few minutes I could smell smoke and pulled over on the side of the highway. I opened the hatchback to see the rear defroster compartment melted away and then flames shot out of the hole. Within 4 minutes the car burned down to the frame. A formal investigation was completed with my insurance company, Kia, and the NHTSA.Kia accepted responsibility for the fire. They bought the car back from the insurance to hide a fatal flaw in the car. After weeks of failing to return numerous calls and emails to Kia attempting to understand what the next steps are, we finally received a call stating that they were willing to reimburse us for the contents in the car- WHICH THEY HAVE to do. After several more phone calls and emails, a supposed manager named Jeff **. contacted us (of course they have no email address, last name or phone number). After going back and forth he offered to refund us the $2000 we put down on the car only 5 months earlier stating it was the cost of ownership! After asking we found out that if we accepted, we would have signed off our rights to any future actions. The fire department told me the only thing that saved my life was that I can a full tank of gas so it did not blow cause of the lack of fumes. I was minutes away from picking my 6 year old daughter from school. The fire started right under where her booster seat was. Do not buy this car as it can easily kill you.

Well in May 2014 I purchased a brand new 2014 KIA Soul (27 miles) from KIA ALOHA AUTO GROUP. Also invested in their so called exterior/interior SIMONIZ glass coat protection plan that was an additional $995. So long story short it was in the evening that I took possession of my brand new 2014 KIA SOUL. All was great. I really didnt check out the exterior assuming it was a brand new 2014 vehicle. All should be good. Well upon waking the next morning getting ready to take the keikis for a cruise in our new ride of course kids are out before me and my oldest son comes inside and tells me Nice ride, mom. But is it brand new? I said Yes, you no see the paper plates? He said I do. Thats why Im asking how come get all kind surface scratches and all swirls/spider webs around the whole vehicle? So I came out and yes all kinds of surface scratches and swirls throughout the entire vehicle. So I said Well we will stop by the car lot on our way out. So we did. Manager there was so sarcastic and no customer service skills. Anyways when he came out he said Well whats wrong? I said Can you take a look at the entire exterior and tell me whats wrong? He looked and had no problems so I had to point out the swirls and scratches. He said Well did you purchase the Simoniz protection plan? I said yes, he said Then no worries. That will take everything out. Dummy me was satisfied with that answer until we were cruising and I said Wait a minute so if I never take the Simoniz plan and pay extra $995 then what? Thats the kind of exterior I going be dealing with? Hmmmmm. So I waited for appointment to do my Simoniz protection. Got the vehicle back, looked great but in 2 days swirls were back and scratches were back. So again I call manager I take vehicle to their service dept and then am told by the manager that because the vehicle is black thats normal for black vehicles. LOL are you serious? Now I brought it back to you the day after and you told me the Simoniz that I purchased would take care of it and now you telling me 2 months later that thats part of owning a black vehicle. The upkeep is hard and its normal BS... So I call ** on July 2, 2014 and another idiot on the other end, Tyrone **, been leaving him voice mails 4 times in July, spoke to him once in Sept, left several messages in early Sept throughout Oct and finally 10/27/14 he tells me he spoke to manager at car lot and he says nothing wrong but agrees that there is spider webs throughout the entire exterior of the vehicle. Anyone with similar problems can you please contact me at **. If you have a solution or have someone I can talk to for some assistance on getting the dealer to provide some kind of solution. I am thinking of taking vehicle to maybe a detail shop to see what they say. I did take it to Maaco here in Aiea but he couldnt help me said I should take it to a detail shop unless I wanted him to repaint my car then he could help me. He couldnt even tell me that thats not a common thing for brand new black vehicles.
