VW has made serious roadblocks to processing my claim for the VW buyback. I started the process in October 2016 and have sent documents to them at least eleven times now and they are requesting again. I feel this is deliberate stalling on the part of VW to process my claim.

I hit a small deer one month ago (driver's side light, hood, quarter panel). The insurance paid for the body work, but not for a spastic, driver's side door. The car (VW 2002 Golf TDI) thinks the door is open all the time and alerts me. When I turn on the lights at night, the alert screams at me. The dealership, which Allstate Insurance made me tow the car to, says this happens to the door all the time even if you hit a pothole and jar the car. The dealership is a 3-hr round trip from where I live and there is a certified VW mechanic in the next town from me, but Allstate wouldn't let me take it there. I told the adjuster and dealership that nothing was wrong before the accident, but they say it is something that happens on VWs a lot. Why isn't there a recall on this if it is so prevalent. And if hitting a pothole could cause this problem, why wouldn't an accident do so also? I will never buy another VW. I have put a lot of money into this car (VW maintenance costs a lot!). It's a 2002 model, but I had a Honda that I drove for 20 years before any major money had to put into it. This has been a nightmare not having a car for a month and living in a rural area.

I have had nothing but poor customer service experience with VW USA Customer Care. When I called the dealership where I purchased the car in panic after my car brakes failed on the freeway - the salesman did not invite me - ever - to check my car, which is an accident waiting to happened. It is nothing short of a miracle my kids are still alive due to my car stalling at a major and busy street in Los Angeles at least on two different occasions.I have contacted VW Customer Care before the car was stalling - when the driver door was about to fall off - mind you I am 4'11 tall and weigh 100 lbs. I later contacted VW USA Customer Care again when I started having brake failures and they did nothing whatsoever except waiting for them to "get back to me" (in a week or so) and then saying that "they can't do anything". So when my car started having stalling episodes (2 of them on major streets in Los Angeles), I did not bother contacting VW USA Customer Care but went to the dealership that said "they do not see a problem" and that "they run the car computer system" something of that sort and "everything looks good".I also like to say that every time I went to the dealership, I had to make sure the right description of what has happened is put down on the work order and not what might look better on paper. Not having a loaner car when I pay almost $400 a month for my car that keeps breaking down is a terrible business practice. The Sun Visor hitting my eye could put me out of work. Fire coming out of the charger while I was driving traumatize both - my very young children and I - Please note that since then, none of the car chargers has been working so I have to rely on a portable charger I have purchased. I truly appreciate your willingness to help but I have lost faith that anything will be resolved because if VW Customer Care did not care that my children's life and my life are in danger driving a Volkswagen, then why would they care now that my lease is almost ending? True. VW still does not care.

I bought brand new Volkswagen 2010 from dealership in Kansas City. It was serviced regularly by the VW dealers. One evening, I came back from the work, parked the car in my driveway and next morning, the car would not start. I towed the car to the service center at the dealership and they say it needs a new motor. A 74K mile Volkswagen needs a new motor. I asked the reason and the service manager says oil level was low in the car and the car if out of the warranty now. This car was service by VW dealer in Lees Summit before 3 months of the breakdown, its Check Engine indicator never got turned on, the car does not consume oil and all of a sudden the engine failed. The service center says they serviced the car properly, dealership says it's out of manufacturer's warranty and I am stuck with this expense of $11000. The car does not have a single dent on its body, its trim, interior is all like a new car but the engine is bad. After spending enormous time talking to the dealership, service center, VW area manager, district manager and all, we concluded that this is the last Volkswagen in my life. And me and my entire family has become a great anti-Volkswagen advocate. Absolutely shameless managers, irresponsible service center and liar manufacturer. We advise all the readers to avoid buying any product of Volkswagen. Buy it if you want to throw away your hard earned money in drain.

I am glad to be a proud owner of a brand new Golf recently. However my new car was recalled recently for an oil leak for camshaft oil seal. It took the agent 3 days to repair it and the service feedback was bad. I am greatly disappointed.

When purchasing a VW product be aware of the total cost of ownership. Many VW parts are proprietary and the Company charges accordingly. For example, changing the battery on a key fob - $75 (requires programming), to replacing a door latch (including labor) $471.57, supplying an air conditioning hose (part only) $368.39. These are actual prices. When asked about their pricing policy VW North American provided an answer containing verbiage but no substance.

We lease new Volkswagen November 2018. During a family road trip to Newfoundland one morning, there was a mosquito flying around on near the windshield inside the car. In an effort to swat the pest, the windshield was lightly hit and consequently left a crack on the windshield. Although, the night before was rainy and cold, leaving the windshield more vulnerable to cracking. It does not make it okay for the windshield to crack for such a tiny impact. This is most definitely a quality issue with the glass material that composes the windshield. Driving 18 hours home to Toronto from Newfoundland was very unpleasant and scary from the thought of the windshield completely shattering at any moment. After coming back to Toronto, Volkswagen told us that it was our problem that we broke the windshield and that we hit it too hard. But realistically, how hard could someone possibly swat a mosquito. Customer service was very unpleasant during the process and left us very unsatisfied. I hope they can realize that their windshield quality was at fault and that they can replace the windshield with a more durable windshield to ensure my family's safety.

At 62k miles, my VW's coil pack ignition just failed, which is costing me about over $600. I can't believe my VW make and model wasn't part of the recall. I would appreciate VW of America to reimburse me for my disbursement because this is not fair and no other makers of cars run through such headache of mechanical failures. My car stopped in the middle of the roads and would not budged, where I could easily get killed. I also maintained all the regular maintenance required by VW. Now I have to lose a day of paid work and over $600 in repairs due to VW faulty parts.

I have a new 2018 Golf GTI, I was surprised to find there is no cover for the battery, the terminals are both exposed. I asked the dealer if this was correct and they did not know, I called VW customer care and they said they don't know what they put on the cars, they are not able to answer technical questions, and I should ask the dealer. I said I had done so without satisfaction and was told to ring around dealers until I found someone who did know! I am surprised to find the two battery terminals exposed on a vehicle that is so complex, this is a potential shock and fire hazard. This is my 10th VW and I do not recall seeing the terminals totally exposed before.

When I first bought my GTI in 2011. My clutch had issues from the beginning. 2 years later my moon-roof died. They wanted 1,000 to fix it. My driver side window won't roll up. I had to have my transmission rebuilt 3 months ago and then I had to replace my coils. My car has only 85,000 miles on it. Now I'm replacing a tie rod and cannot find the inner tool anywhere. I'm so over this car and so disappointed. My family told me to buy a Honda. I wish I would've listened. They all own Honda's. No maintenance cars. As soon as I can I'm getting rid of it and VW for life. I've read so many terrible reviews about VW products. It's terrible.
