Ram Trucks, stylized as RAM and formerly known as the Ram Truck Division, is an American brand of light to mid-weight commercial vehicles, and a division of Stellantis. It was established in a spin-off from Dodge in 2010 using the name of the Ram Pickup line of trucks.

Plumbers, handymen, and delivery guys are a discerning bunch—and the ProMaster aims to meet their needs. Choose from low, high, or extended roofs and 118-, 136-, or 159-inch wheelbases. Chassis and cutaway cabs are also available. The sole powertrain is a 280-hp 3.6-liter V-6 paired to a six-speed automatic and front-wheel drive. While its driving position may be a bit fussy and maneuverability is lacking over its competitors, the low load floor and great forward visibility may make up for both.

Product Reviews:

I purchased my 2007 2500 diesel truck brand new from the dealership. After 3 months, the truck was in the shop for the first of many visits. By 40,000 miles, I had replaced the batteries 3 times, driver and passenger HUB assemblies, wheel seals and 4-wheel drive. By 60,000 miles, the transmission was blown. By 80,000, a "death wobble" had started that is unfixable. It's in the shop every 2 months for the same fix. This truck has been a piece since the first day. I have owned nothing but heavy duty trucks for hauling livestock and ranch life. I bought this truck because I was told you can get hundreds of thousands of miles on these engines! This truck hasn't even made it to 100k and trust me, it won't either.

I am reviewing this truck first of all because I had a total loss due to fire on a major highway in BC Canada. I had a temperature giving erratic readings prior to at about 99000 km just before drivetrain warranty was about to expire. I took the truck down to Kelowna Dodge and explained this along with other issue I was having with the truck and had all fluids changed. Paid for a diagnostic. Problem found to be a poor sensor so they replaced it but it was not covered under drivetrain warranty. Now I'm out $500. I picked the truck up and it immediately had the same problem but no cooling issues.I blew a flex plate at 106000 km and it grenaded stuff near the torque converter and toasted my starter. 1.5 days later and $3500 the Abbotsford Dodge dealership. They noticed the sensor problem but said I should take it to the dealership that fixed it to begin with so as to make sure all in now covered under warranty seeing it was problematic before 100000 km. This dealership was great to deal with. I got the truck back into the Kelowna Dodge dealership and they now found it to be a water pump but covered this under warranty. This lasted one day and the same issue with the erratic coolant temperature problems. I talked to other mechanics and they all said it's a head gasket and is a common problem. On the way back from the coast through the mountains the truck overheated and my temperature sensor bottomed out at 90 and stayed there and I pulled over immediately. Checked under the hood but kept everything running to allow the fans to cool things down. I called the service department again at Kelowna Dodge and asked them for their advice and they told me to limp it in if the engine is running good. Everything cooled down but the sensor was toast so I started to limp it back but it's 200km through the mountains. No problems with the engine. On a big climb with everything sounding fine and taking my time the truck has smoke coming from underneath the hood on passenger side. As a result even with the attempt of a fire extinguisher we could not put it out and it burnt to the ground.I called the dealership about any recourse knowing this should have been solved and was a direct result of their own misdiagnosis and they said the only recourse is insurance however the loss of my vehicle I use for work is now gone. Essentially too bad so sad. They said Ram won't cover the resultant issue of a truck loss from a cooling problem even though under warranty. This directly affects my insurance and Dodge Ram should cover this and get me a new vehicle. If you plan to use these trucks for serious hauling I would not recommend Kelowna Dodge for service nor purchasing the Ram 3500 dually truck for commercial hauling use via reliability problems.

I feel it is necessary to write you about the problems I have faced with my truck and your company. On September 12, 2014 purchased 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 from Dallas Dodge Chrysler Jeep (11550 LBJ FREEWAY, DALLAS, TEXAS 75238) VIN # **. On the purchase date, radio and navigation do not work correctly. I was told by the salesman to take it by my local Dodge dealer (McMullan Motors) to have it checked as it is still under warranty. The first time I take it in, after waiting for a couple of hours, I was informed the radio technician was not there and I would have to bring it back in. I work about 300 miles from my home so I informed them I would have to set up another time to drop it off. I could not leave it and do not own another vehicle. I was also not offered a courtesy vehicle or rental car. In the meantime, I noticed several other things not working correctly so I made a list to get everything checked upon my return. On December 15, 2014 I bring my truck in to be serviced for the following problems: navigation/compass/radio not working, headlights fogging up, vibration felt while driving down the road. Of these 3 problems, only one was fixed even though I was assured by the service department my truck was fixed and I was good to go. On December 23, 2014 I was shopping and when I returned after a rain, my truck had approximately 3" of water inside the cab. I immediately called the McMullan Motors and they explained to me someone else had called with the same problem. I was told if I took it somewhere to have it fixed, other than a Dodge dealership, that would void the warranty. I then made another appointment to drop my truck off, leave it and pick up later. On January 5, 2015 I took truck in for leaking back glass. I am called and good to go. On February 12, 2015 check engine light comes on. I make another appointment. On February 13, 2015 I take truck in for check engine light, fuel sensor vibration. I explain to the service dept. I am still feeling the vibration and was assured they did not feel anything and I should bring it back in for another look. On May 4, 2015 take truck back in for vibration/rotate and balance tires. This time, they rotate and balance my tires. I pick truck back up and yet again I am told that I am good to go. I call them back later that day and tell them I still feel it. I was informed I should bring it back in for another look. During the month of July, my back glass leaks again after a rain. I take it to another dealership to have it repaired. I also explained the vibration to them. I cannot leave it that day and asked to bring it back the next week. This time I leave the truck for 5 days!!!On July 22, 2015 take truck back in for leaking back glass, vibration felt while driving. I go back to pick truck up and I was told that my vehicle warranty was up and my extended Gold Plus warranty (I paid an extra $1500.00 dollars for this) had a 100.00 dollar deductible which I was responsible for. When I explained I had already paid for this once, I should not be responsible for paying for something that was already fixed once by Dodge, the service manager told me to call the dealership and ask them about it. I asked about the vibration and the manager informed me that Ram is notorious for putting bad tires on trucks. The tires are probably the cause of the vibration and I should contact Goodyear to discuss it with them since Dodge is not responsible for tires!!! So, I call McMullan Motors about the back glass issue. I was told by the service department and I quote, "Sir we get ** parts all the time! Sometimes we get ** parts right out of the box!!!" How sad is it that your own employee tells me this!!! Mr. Hegbloom this is my complaint: I drive to Dallas to purchase my dream truck! I get these responses from your own employees!!! Good to go. Ram has gotten so bad, Dodge separated themselves from the Ram name. Don't know why it's vibrating - couldn't feel anything- bad tires, ** parts. Not once has anyone apologized and tried to actually fix my truck. It seems that passing the buck on has become quite the norm. I know this letter is lengthy and for that, I apologize. There are many truck companies I can choose from. I can buy any truck I so desire, some for less money. I have been a loyal Dodge customer for many years and feel that I am owed some loyalty in return. I am truly disturbed by the inept actions of your employees. I saved up my money and had the choice of any truck on the market. I hope that you can restore my faith in your company. As of today, here is a recap of problems I am still having with my truck: engine noise vibration around 40 mph or 1100 rpm, vibration in truck suspension while driving normal speed, transmission is slipping when accelerator is pressed, transmission shifts hard in and out of gears, tires are severely worn at less than 40,000 miles, overall performance of truck is poor, radio still does not work correctly, USB port does not work.

The gas mileage could be better but the handling and ride is quite smooth. We have a 1500 Dodge Ram year is 2017 and it's a 2 wheel drive yet goes most anywhere. Electrical for the windows works sometimes and sometimes does not. On occasion the transmission sounds like it's banging into gear.

My engine on my 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 Ecodiesel 3.0L seized at 14K miles... Towed to Dodge in Yuba City, Ca. They charged me $1200 plus, to tell me that is my fault and water went into the engine by opening the pan!!! No water went, they are full of it... I am getting the second opinion at the Machine shop. I spoke to the owner, and he will give me the exact cause by opening the engine apart.

I have a 2012 Dodge RAM 5.7 Hemi with a #5 misfire problem. The problem was reported to the dealership at the last oil change, but all they did was reset the fault code and returned the vehicle to service, exclaiming they "could not duplicate" the problem. Took it in last week and informed them of my concerns. Two days ago, received a call from the Tech Representative requesting permission to accomplish a complete tuneup, i.e. spark plugs, possible bad coil pack, and to perform a fuel system clean and flush. Aghast, I responded that this was a complete waste of time! On top of that, the service departments wants $775.00 dollars just for a tuneup. Obviously I think they are trying to find ways to make normal servicing so expensive that I would either choose to take my truck back and fix it myself (which voids the warranty), or to pay them a hell of a lot of money to do something that would only take about 1.5 hours. This is so they could pay the techs and the Reps labor for completing a warranty replacement, should it come down to that.I already know what is wrong with the engine. #5 (and sometimes, 1, and 3 cylinders) have a history of failing due to faulty valve seat design. The hemi heads utilized pressed-in valve seats that are powder coated from Mexico (there's problem number 1), and these rings eventually work themselves out of the valve ports, mostly the exhaust side, but sometimes the intake side. As the seats back out, but doesn't completely fall out, compression is lost although not entirely gone. This explains why some of the misfiring only happens at 3/4 to WOT responses. In severe cases, the seats come out complete resulting in destroying the piston, the heads, and possibly the timing chain if enough forced impact occurs.I have 4,000 miles left on the warranty, and it is quite clear that the dealership in Sumter South Carolina is trying to throw the vehicle back at me without actually repairing my truck. And if the tune-up doesn't solve the problem, they will have constituted SOME labor expenses from the most expensive tune-up in recorded history! $95 diagnostic charge, and nearly $700 bucks for a tuneup for no more than 1 to 2 hours of work! What ticks me off is how Chrysler has continued to engage in mafia style treatment in forcing consumers to buy their crap, con them into buying the extended warranty, and yet refuse to honor the warranty when circumstances are warranted. How in the name of God are these people allowed to continue bamboozling the American people?I have been screwed twice before from Dodge! My 1997 Dodge Stratus 2.4 liter lost a head gasket at 48,000 miles. Repairs were at my own expensive at about $650 bucks. A year later, the gasket failed again, only this time resulting in a seized engine! I next bought a 2002 Stratus R/T with the worthless 2.7 liter engine. This engine lost a water pump at 89,000 miles. But because the pump is internal, and a special tool is required to depressurize the timing chain tension pump, I was left with paying Chrysler some $900 dollars in repairs. 8 months later, it failed again only this time destroying the engine! Now my 2012 RAM may need an engine replacement, and at best, the dealership will choose a Jasper engine which are nothing but crap! Total crap! And that's even if the dealership doesn't try backing the truck back at me with a continued problem! The solution folks? DO NOT BUY DODGE! And ignore some of the online trolls telling you they have over 300,000 miles and counting on their trucks and cars. Some (if not all) of those people are paid trolls to defend Chrysler's worthless piles of junk! The 5.9 engines were not that bad. Sure they were under-powered compared to the Hemi's, but very rarely did any 5.9 engines fail except under vehicle maintenance neglect. There is absolutely no reason why my 2012 Dodge RAM truck should have a worn camshaft, worn lifter roller, faulty valve-seat rings, and all leading to misfiring of cylinder 5 with under 100,000 miles accumulated!Fool me once, shame on you! Fool me twice, shame on me! Fool me thrice, then double shame on me! I swear to Chrysler that I will never buy another Dodge vehicle ever again! Moreover, I will ensure that no future customers are fooled into buying your pieces of crap! Facebook, Youtube, online forms will be filled with my rants! And trust me! I've personally seen three people in my town with this very same problem, 2 of which had theirs repaired under warranty, but the other screwed. Looks like I am next!

My husband and I purchased a 2018 RAM 1500 SLT 4X4 the last week of May. BRAND NEW! Very first day brought it home, the gear became stuck in park. Would not budge. The vehicle did however get in drive the next morning to take it to the dealership, and became stuck in park again once there. The RAM company said they would send the part... ONE MONTH later the part arrived at the dealership. The truck still will not shift into any gears. Informed the customer service person at RAM and they are looking into the matter. In the meantime, we have to pay $558.00 per month for a defective product, that was advertised as a great RELIABLE product, and we are not even in possession of at the moment. It's not the dealership's fault. They did not make the defective truck. It is the manufacturer and product supplier that created this vehicle that you cannot even drive. Very angry with Dodge that they would not even test their own products before shipping to stores. Thank you for the headache, hassle of dealing with customer service people who could care less that you are out of money on a product you do not even have or can use, and the aggravation of a family of four now down to one vehicle. Will not recommend to anyone to buy. I want them to take back their defective product and void the sale. That is it! But you have to jump through numerous hoops to get them to take back their OWN defective product!!!

I took my 2011 3500 Dually to the dealership in Sun City, AZ (Larry H. Miller) for service and was told that Dodge had a software update. I said don't do it because my last Dodge 2003 3500 Dually, Dodge made my fuel mileage go from 24mpg to 16. The dealership told me Dodge said I had to so they went ahead. Guess what happened? My mileage went from 17 to 11 on the hwy. Don't trust Dodge or your dealer.

Called Chrysler about recall notice and was given a tarp-like cover for the front of my vehicle. Basically told there is no fix, it is a manufacturing defect and cannot be fixed. Put this tarp on your vehicle if the temp drops below -1C or 30 degrees F. Therefore, I paid for a $75,000.00 (tax included) that must have this cover on it in order to drive in cold weather. (I remember 40 yrs ago putting a piece of cardboard in front the radiator of my car to improve the heat, it is now 2015 and nothing seems to have changed.) Otherwise, a warning light comes on then the vehicle goes into "limp mode" (max speed 30 mph). If this happens I was told to find a warm garage and park the truck in it until it warms up. I can see this happening on a 400 series hwy at 1 am in the morning, and having a huge tracker-trailer drive into me from behind, as I am only "limping' along trying to find an exit and warm garage. Someone will die from this defect. It is totally unacceptable, incredibly dangerous, and completely irresponsible of Chrysler to hide this defect until you buy the vehicle, then say "oh by the way you need this tarp to drive your $75,000.00 truck in the winter". Good luck!

I purchased a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 in '08. When I went to hook up an RV which had been changed from bumper to bed because it was a 5th wheel, my right tail signal light quit working. I had wiring checked, bulbs and all checked out ok. I took to shop and found that fuse box had shorted out computer. So instead of blowing the fuse it shorted everything out, it was replaced and all worked well. Well, last summer my air conditioner went out. Again instead of just blowing fuse the computer shorted out again. Same shop, same story. I replaced it and all worked well. Now last week my air conditioner failed to cool, it is in the shop and I'm hoping the fuse box has not shorted out again. The dealer told me it was a wire harness problem the first time I didn't hear from them the second time. Just wondering if this is a common problem. Paying 600 dollars for a new board is not my idea of a good product. Can someone help me?
