Ram Automobile Troubleshooting

If you're looking for help fixing your Ram Automobile, look no further! Our comprehensive Ram Automobile Troubleshooting guide will explain common issues, provide tips, and show you how to read your model's error codes.

Flat Tire
Although it is common for a tire to deflate over time, most tires become flat after being punctured by an object such as a nail. Most punctures can be fixed with a tire repair kit or patch, but large punctures or slashes generally warrant a tire replacement. However, it’s also possible for simple wear and tear to be the main cause of a flat tire. To help extend the lifespan of your tires, be sure to keep them properly rotated. We recommend that you rotate your tires every 5,000 miles (or every time you get an engine oil change) to help prevent unnecessary tire wear and tear.

Broken Starter Motor
The starter motor is the device responsible for cranking your engine to initiate power. When the starting motor fails, it’s usually because the electrical solenoid has been damaged, the starter motor is simply broken, or another electrical fault occurs. Although a starter can be replaced before it breaks, it’s difficult to predict when this will happen. For that reason, if you begin to experience any symptoms of a bad starter like it sounds different than normal or is taking several cranks to start, we recommend having a mechanic inspect your car starter to help determine the problem before assuming the starter needs to be replaced.

Oil Warning Light is On
An oil warning light is one of the most serious car problems you’ll ever encounter. When the light (or oil icon) comes on, you should immediately pull over and shut off your engine. The low-pressure warning light can be mean you’ve got a bad oil pressure sensor, bum oil pump, or a significant engine wear problem. But it can also mean that you’ve simply run out of oil. You can check your oil level right there on the side of the road.

Overheating
You might suspect overheating to be higher on this list, but in reality, it occurs rarely. In most modern cars, the cooling system is very complex, containing multiple sensors that monitor coolant temperature, flow, and other components. Staying on top of radiator flush services and changing the water pump before it breaks are two easy ways to reduce the potential for overheating issues.

Fix a Squealing Belt
Of all the car problems you might encounter, a squealing belt is probably the most annoying. The high-pitched squeal is produced when the rubber belt loses its grip and slips around the pulleys. In rare cases, a worn slow-moving alternator, pump, or AC compressor bearing or component misalignment can cause a perfectly good belt to squeal. But in most cases, the belt slips because it’s worn, is loose, or has been contaminated with oil or coolant. You can diagnose all those problems yourself with a visual inspection, a belt wear gauge, and a spray water bottle.

Worn Brake Pads or Squeaky Brakes
If you ever hear a squeaking or high-pitched squealing sound coming from your brakes, it is likely that your brake pads are either dirty and need to be cleaned or worn down and need to be replaced. But don’t be alarmed, this is a pretty common car issue especially with older vehicles. The brake system is intended to wear out over time with use – some quicker than others depending on how often they are used. Given your vehicle’s brakes are vital to ensure you can safely stop, if you notice any symptoms of worn brake pads, like squealing, squeaking, or a soft brake pedal, you should have it inspected by a professional mechanic as soon as possible for brake repairs if needed.

Poor Fuel Economy
When the engine is running efficiently, it burns fuel at a rate that helps improve fuel economy. However, several fuel system parts like fuel filters, air filters, mass airflow sensors, and O2 sensors will eventually get dirty or wear out. If this happens before they are replaced, it will cause the engine to consume more fuel than usual. Again, being proactive about routine servicing provides the solution.

Dead Battery
Most car batteries should last about three years or 50,000 miles. A dead battery is usually caused by reduced amps – or electrical currents – which naturally decrease as the battery loses its ability to maintain a charge. A damaged alternator, battery temperature sensor, or other charging system components can expedite this issue. It’s best to replace your car battery every 50,000 miles or three years, even if it’s not showing signs of damage.

Ram 3500 2010 exhaust permanent defect. Problem: Oil change light at 500 miles. Action taken by dealer. Ignore the message keep using it. Research results: Carbon particles in oil; thus lugging the filter. Problem: Check engine light. Action taken: Reset computer. Findings: maintenance staff could not correct design problems. Not trained. Problem: engine stalls; thus causing loss of power steering, power brakes and potential catastrophic accident under load conditions. Action taken: Reset Computer. The corresponding agencies should force Chrysler to buy back such trucks and compensate for the loss in market value. Nissan had to buy back the mini vans that had a problem with fire in the engine compartment.

The track bar broke on my truck and I had lost steering. I managed to cross over two lanes of traffic to the emergency lane and crawl home at 25 miles per hour. When I called Dodge, the woman at the recall center said that they went by VIN numbers only and that my VIN number was not on the recall list. Therefore it could not have been the track bar that failed. As she continued, she said that they knew only 1500 trucks had the wrong smaller truck part and because my VIN was not on the list. It could not have been the track bar. I asked where do I go to get it fixed and submit proof of the track bar being the wrong size and she said its up to me to get it fixed and its not Dodges fault if the wrong size was installed. But they would appreciate me being a Dodge customer. I HATE DODGE! Every Dodge we ever had, the drivers door come off the hinges or they break leaving us to weld the door shut, suspensions go, engines go. Grrrrr, frustrating.

2010 Dodge 3500 Laramie - Since purchased new, my truck has had an issue with a very hard downshift from the fourth to the third gear. I took it back to Chris Nickels dealership and to the dealership in Pryor, OK, but neither would drive the truck to duplicate the problem. South Pointe Dodge in Tulsa, OK finally took the truck in and drove it and duplicated the problem that I had been complaining about since the purchase. To the credit of South Pointe, they have tried several times to find the problem, but they cannot figure it out. I was recently told by South Pointe that there is nothing else they can do until something catastrophic happens. This truck on a regular basis downshifts so hard that it feels like you have been struck from behind by another vehicle. On wet roads, this truck’s rear-end will break loose as this hard downshift occurs. I have been more than patient and have put myself and my family at risk for 88,000 miles now. My patience is depleted as I will be expecting and will certainly appreciate your attention to this matter as soon as possible.

We purchased this vehicle brand new in 2011. We love the truck and have never had any issues with it except for the paint chipping off and its rusting already at 4 years old. At approximately a year old we noticed a random chip above one of the headlights. You can tell it bubbled up and chipped off. The damage was not from a rock or an accident. We now have 2 different rust spots. One is on the end gate coming out from the dodge emblem and the other is right above the windshield. Like I stated, love the truck but am very disappointed in the quality of the paint!!

My Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 SLT pickup has a severely cracking dashboard, and it has been an obvious manufacturers defect for many years. It is getting to the point where the dash could become dislodged in pieces and either fall into the dashboard area or worse, shatter in sharp pieces in the event of a collision. I called the customer service 800 number and was told that even though I am the original owner of the vehicle, that Dodge would do nothing to make my vehicle safe for me and my kids because there were too many miles on the truck. Sad thing is that the truck has been an excellent vehicle, fun, completely reliable, and I wont buy another Dodge product because they wont fix a cosmetic issue that could be very dangerous.Short sighted corporation, as I would have bought another Dodge in a heartbeat, but not now.

Jan. 2017 have ignition switch go bad. Was changed 4 times on 2015 Ram 1500. Talked to a dozen reps. They dont know what to do cause ignition switch is a sealed unit and they dont know what else to do. Called again 08-14-1017 and awaiting another call back that 9 out 10 times they dont know. I received a recall on the airbag. Guess they cant get that right either. If they think I am going away theyre in for a surprise. If it were in another state other than Louisiana I could use the lemon law.

The truck will not properly shift to 6th gear. Upon a visit to dealer, I was told it was ok, but there was no change in its performance. Then a second trip was made to the dealer who again said that there was no problem. I then found a different dealer and was again told transmission was ok. It was not, so I returned to first dealer and had transmission mechanic take ride with me. He saw problem but did not know how to repair it. He told me he would contact Detroit. That was March 06, 2015. I feel as if Im being blown off. The problem is real and must be addressed in an honest way.

Weve only had this since March 28th, 2017 - Over-Engineering is an understatement. EPA has pretty much got us choked down. We bought this big boy to pull a 5th wheel, but thus far, we stay in the repair shop more than anywhere else. Check Engine Lights repeatedly on with O2 Sensors and EGR valve replacements have pretty much got us reconsidering our purchase. With the steering locking up from time to time, (were waiting on a recall,) we dont trust it to take us to the store, let alone on the road for pleasure. Its been anything but... We just had to have the Injection Pump replaced and that set us back 4k. We are on a wait and see list now for the O2 sensor to come on again and they will work towards faulty wiring harness possibly. We simply cant afford this for all of this poor design. My 1st Ram and wish I had our Ford back. We are NOW dealing with standing water in the back from leaking rear brake light that Ram has known about for YEARS, yet they dont correct poor engineering on that issue. We also have water pouring thru the rear sliding window and fixing to go get replacement seals and sweeps for that. We are hoping for a buyback on this monster. Please help us. Its really a bad thing when service technicians drop their heads and shake them when they see you coming AGAIN and they call you by name. SAD!!!

Warranty Service: My 2011 Dodge Truck (VIN **) was taken to Crown Dodge, initially, for a shimmy at 70MPH (on cruise control). The problem was noticed when I decreased my average speed from 75MPH to 70MPH to save gas. The problem exists when ascending/descending long hill. The truck was taken to Crown Dodge 4 times; each time, something was done to correct the fault. However, after being told it was fixed, I drove it home on the I-44 turnpike, and the situation each time was the same. The final analysis was that it is the nature of the beast - that engine has such torque. A local independent repair facility assured me it was not the U-Joints. I took the truck to Central Oklahoma Dodge yesterday and gave the information above. Today, they tell me (Mark) that they cannot duplicate the problem. He (Mark) is going to take the truck on the freeway tomorrow to try to duplicate the problem. My question is, what if he duplicates the problem? Then what? If it is the nature of the beast, nothing can be done. I am unable/unwilling to drive a vehicle with a known problem. I converted to Dodge from Chevy/Ford at the suggestion of my close friend. This is my second Dodge. Please advise soonest. (I am unable to talk on the phone due to Cochlear implant. If you need me to call you, I have to use my CapTel phone.) Thank you.

Five Star Dodge Warner Robins - I brought my 14 Ram 1500 to their service dept 10 separate times to fix my cruise control. With every visit I was greeted as an inconvenience each time until the second to last where Jay who I perceived to have been helpful until I went for the last time. He told me I was square and would not be charged for the repairs due to 99% of the problems being due to lazy mechanics. I was charged $500+ to have the repairs accomplished. Hindsight I shouldnt have given them a dime but I wanted to be done with this dealership as soon as possible. You will have better luck going anywhere but here. I personally have a biased against Dodge in general after this experience and will probably go to another brand.

Our 2009 Dodge Ram truck is sitting in the driveway and it is useless. It only has 130,000 miles. We have had it in for numerous repairs and we still have a useless truck that has no power. There is also a recall on a front end part and we still have never been able to get in for the repair. There is now a recall on the recall. Please do not buy a Dodge truck of any kind. Especially, do not buy from Love Chrysler in Alice, Texas. They could never fix your truck but they could keep sure could find something wrong with it. We spent over $20,000 on repairs and finally just went and bought a new Ford Truck. We will never ever step inside a Dodge Chrysler Dealership again to buy a car or truck. Why cant all of us who have been sold lemons band together and make Dodge Chrysler stand behind their repairs.

Dodge Ram has been my dream truck for years. I finally was in a financially sound enough situation I could afford one, brand new, off the lot. I researched for one in my price range with most of the features I wanted within my price range. I decided on a 2022 Ram 1500 quad cab. 7 miles on it when I went to the dealership. I was so excited when they handed me those keys after I signed the papers! I drove off the lot Saturday evening, took my wife to dinner, drove the truck to work on Sunday. I started the truck and the check engine light came on. The dealership was closed on Sunday so I took it back Monday. They told me it was a cylinder 4 misfire due to an injector being stuck in the open position so they replaced it. I got the truck back Tuesday. I drove to the grocery store and home.Wednesday, I got up and went to run an errand. I started the truck and the check engine light was on once again. I took it back to the dealership. Its now Tuesday and I havent seen my truck since I dropped it off. I reached out to Chrysler multiple times, reached out to the dealership who said they were waiting for Chrysler, Chrysler said they were sending a tech out which they have yet to do because they were waiting to hear from the dealership. It has just been a complete disaster at this point of back and forth and I am making payments on a truck Im not even able to drive. The customer service Ive received from both ends is less than acceptable and I would not recommend purchasing a vehicle from Chrysler nor will I be doing this again.

I received a recall notice on my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 for a seal that was defective. If it was repaired they said they would pay for the repair. I supplied them with all the receipts of the repairs. The total was almost $2,400. The representative calls me and tells me they are not going to pay the claim since the credit card used was not the name of the vehicle owner. It was my father-in-laws card since I did not have the money at the time to pay for the repair. So Dodge agreed it was defective but uses some lame loophole that since it wasnt on MY credit card, they would not pay. I suggested they just pay the cardholder then. Of course they denied that as well. So basically they admit they were liable for the repair but found a way out of paying for it.

We bought a new 2013 Dodge Ram a week ago. My hubby was on his way home from work yesterday and he had a blowout. Now Dodge is charging us for the new tire. The truck is a week old. My hubby could have been killed. Very lucky my two year old son wasnt aboard. They are claiming that there is a nail hole in the tire and that’s what caused the blow out. As if passing over $50,000 to them for the truck wasnt enough. Now we are driving around with a 17 inch dummy tire on our brand new truck. She is off level from having 20 inch tires on all besides one. Something needs to be done about this.

I liked that it had a full back seat that my dogs could fit in comfortably. I liked the electric windows and seats and the rear window defrost was nice because my dogs tended to fog it up. The newer trucks are made very cheaply you end up with lots of problems unless you get an extended warranty when you first purchase a vehicle. A ton of recalls. Overall my Dodge Ram is not equipped to handle a great deal of payload compared to other pickup truck. In order to get this repaired it takes a lot of money and its very difficult to get anyone to work on them unless its the dealership and theyre very expensive. A change of oil on this pickup truck cost you $56 at a dealership and thats in Sumter South Carolina versus $26 for a Chevy truck and $32 for a Ford.

I owned a 98 Dodge Ram right off the showroom floor and before I gave it to my son, it only had two major issues. One was a recall for towing package, they had to weld an extra piece of metal to the trailer hitch. The other issue was, I am assuming the same as most other people that owned that year with the Dashboards that fell apart.I currently own a 2011 Cummins Turbo Diesel, that had the left tie rod recall, took the truck into my local dealership, oh and I bought from a privately owned dealership about 200 miles from where I live. The dealership I took it to for the recall didnt ask any questions or anything about doing the work. I bought this truck in July of this year and have already put over 5K miles on it and shes running like a dream. In my opinion, if you bought your truck for something other than work, then you bought the wrong thing. These are work trucks, built to be USED!!!! If you bought it for the NAV or the Phone or fancy Radio, then maybe you should have looked into buying something else for that price, like a Benz, BMW, Audi or Volvo. Just my opinion. Oh the 98, when I gave it to my son 9 months ago, had over 120K miles on it. The Cummins I traded my Challenger for and only paid 23K for it. Just because these vehicles have all that fancy stuff on them doesnt make them not be a Truck!

The gas mileage could be better but the handling and ride is quite smooth. We have a 1500 Dodge Ram year is 2017 and its a 2 wheel drive yet goes most anywhere. Electrical for the windows works sometimes and sometimes does not. On occasion the transmission sounds like its banging into gear.

I have 2019 Dodge Ram lease, I’m very satisfied with the vehicle EXCEPT for the touch screen which is so attention distracting that I believe it poses a hazard for drivers. I find myself having to pull off the side of the road to operate features because the system is so complex it’s a distraction. The US Navy is getting rid of touch screens because they feel they are a danger and blame them for two recent vessel collisions. This kind of technology is highly overrated and make the vehicles less safe to drive. Knobs and buttons are easier to to navigate and safer to use. More tech is not always a better idea.

On October 2015 I purchased this truck. The same day as I was driving I heard a high to low rumbling noise. Took it back to dealer for service. Changed front axle shaft, noise continues. After 3rd time to dealer, they contacted Chrysler and were told this noise was normal. Very annoying noise at 70 mi an hour. Traded in a 2012 Ram, no problem with noise (both trucks are 5.7L, 4x4s). Has anyone had this problem? Help! Annoyed in Chicago.

On 2/22/12, I took my 06 Dodge Ram 1500 to the Jeff Wyler Chrysler/Jeep Dealership at 100 Alexandria Pike, in Ft. Thomas, KY in response to not one but two recall announcements. After the dealership repaired the turn signal malfunction, I received a call telling me the lug nuts bloated and not easily coming off. I was then informed it would cost me $159.60 for new lug nuts and replacing. In view of the fact, I was there in response to a Chrysler recall to replace a hub bearing which required removing the wheels. It amazes me the dealer doesnt have a lug wrench to remove the original lug nuts. I discussed this with the service manager to see if this was an unusual occasion. The response was a yes. At that point, I began to suspect this is one of those dealer scam occurrences. I called the Chrysler Dodge Ram Case Management Group in Detroit. After playing telephone tag with a Leslee for week to finally get her to understand which Jeff Wyler dealership in KY and OH I had dealt with, she was very unsure of the next steps. I asked to speak to a manager. I talked to a man who was totally unfamiliar with the case and immediately took the corporate position that the lug nuts are out of warranty. I found that apprehensible. If Chrysler cant make a lug nut that lasts longer than one year, Im not surprised the American auto industry is in big trouble. A very discourteous woman got on the line and echoed the same thing. Just so you know, I currently own two Chrysler products. I also leased a Chrysler 300C about 4 years ago. In net, I have owned three Chrysler products in the past 4 years and was in fact looking at Jeep SUVs at that dealer for my wife. In conclusion, I am very angry about being ripped off by a dealer who doesnt own a usable lug wrench. Even more so, Im angry at a company like Chrysler that is so shortsighted you are willing to lose significant future business rather than correct what I believe is a very poor customer service decision. Unless I receive a full refund of $159.60, I will soon divest myself from the Dodge Stratus and the Ram 1500.

I have had Dodge before. They are very reliable vehicles. I love their spacious interior and the custom looks of each vehicle. They have a smooth ride and my 1st vehicle lasted 9 years and I still have it. It looks and runs like new. All one needs to do is keep up with the vehicle and replace changes as needed. I love Chrysler and Dodge. They are the only brand of vehicle Ive purchased and I am happy with their performance and look. Dodge brand has been in the family for years so its a well trusted brand. Family members worked in the Chrysler plants for years and years so we stay loyal to this brand.

Buyer beware of any newer, 2013+, Dodge with a Cummins Diesel and its emissions system. You will be constantly plagued with See Dealer, Service DEF System errors. When the trucks run they are great, but good luck keeping them running reliably. You can put good Blue DEF in 100% of the time, run them well to ensure they get a periodic regen, and still have endless issues. To top it off, they drop you into limp mode in no time at all, so good luck if youre on a long road trip; expect a huge tow bill. In all, stay away from any of these trucks that have DEF systems unless you wish to waste time and give away your money to a bottomless pit.

I am a dog trainer. I needed a good, dependable truck for my business. Lots of my friends have Dodge Rams (different versions) and one has over 400,000 miles on his Diesel. I pull horse trailers. I am on the road a lot and need good transport for dogs and me. So, after much research and recommendations of Dodge Ram, I decided to go that route. When I looked it up under consumer research articles, it was one of the highest recommended trucks on the road.Just last week (October, 2014), my dealership sent me a letter wanting to buy back my truck for a good sum. Stated this was the most popular model and they were in desperate need of them and had a waiting list of people. At that time, I had only $2,000.00 before paying off my Dodge Ram. I opted not to sell my truck to the dealership and trade up. I needed a vehicle that would last me at least 200,000 miles and keep me free of truck payments for at least 5 years. Then I would trade up, or not, depending on how well my truck was holding up. I have always done the proper maintenance on my truck when it was needed. Oil change, fluid changes and checks, tire rotations, new brakes, new tires and babied it, because hey, its a Dodge Ram and will last me at least 10 years or 200,000 miles. Needless to say, that was not to be. On a trip home from Illinois, just across the Indiana line, my truck blew the engine. When the mechanics checked my truck and took the head off, it showed every bit of 100,000 miles. After much discussion and more research, I was told that this particular model, 2008 dodge Ram 1500 had aluminum in the valves and should have had steel. No wonder it fell apart at 6,000 miles out of warranty. The story gets better. Because I lost compression in my truck, I lost almost all control of my brakes and steering. I was in Poseyville, Indiana at the time. It almost cost me a dog grooming parlor, but fortunately I was able to get the truck into the gravel parking lot and stopped. I have called around to see my options and presently I am at $5,000.00 to get a rebuilt engine and have it installed. My truck is at a friends in another state and it cost me $350.00 to have it towed to their house. Towing it back to Kentucky was financially out of the question. My full coverage insurance refunded me $80.00 of this. So, now I am out of a work vehicle and I have no vehicle to drive. That puts me in the position of making the rest of my 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Truck payments (I owe a whomping $2000.00) and the cost of renting a car until I can save the money to have mine fixed. At that point I will have to sell it or whatever. But I still have to pay my house payment, utilities, office rent space for my business, etc.I am not whining, I am not feeling sorry for myself, so you haters and naysayers keep it to yourself. I am thoroughly pissed that I researched a truck, did my best to make the right choice for my business and now I am out a vehicle. Bottom line; This was not a used truck. It was a brand new, right off the show room floor vehicle, cared for and babied (yes, I can prove it... I have every oil change and filter, etc. ever put on it) because I tried to choose the right vehicle for me. It lasted less than 4 years, and has 106,000 miles on it... and I paid a very hefty price for this piece of junk that was touted as one of the best trucks on the market.Kentucky’s useless Lemon Laws: The Kentucky Lemon Law applies when, during the first year or 12,000 miles (whichever comes first), following delivery of a new vehicle: The dealer has attempted to repair the same problem four (4) or more times, or the vehicle has been out of service for repair at the dealership for a cumulative total of 30 days or more. To qualify for the Lemon Law, the problem must substantially impair the use, value, or safety of the automobile. Vehicles leased after July 15, 1998 are also covered. Kentucky Informal Dispute Resolution System or Arbitration: Kentucky requires manufacturers to provide new vehicle owners with a cost-free informal dispute resolution system. The decision is binding on the manufacturer but not the consumer. You qualify if the dispute happened in the first two (2) years or 25,000 miles (whichever comes first), and you are a Kentucky resident AND you purchased the vehicle in Kentucky.

2009 Dodge Ram 4X4. On December 2, 2011, I took the truck to dealership for seat belt light in dash. They could not fix the first time. Second time, they fixed the light. After that, the gas gauge was stuck on full. Three times I took back the truck, still not fixed. The dealership emptied 1/2 tank of gas and dispose of it. The gauge moved to 3/4 after they called me to pick up the truck. I was told the problem was corrected. I filled up the tank with gauge showing 3/4. It took 21 gallons. The tank capacity is 26 gallons. The gauge is back to full and will not move after 80 miles. The truck has 17,710 miles. As of Jan. 4, 2012, the gas gauge is still not working. I will not rest until this truck is fixed, then trade it in for a Toyota or Ford. 3 years warranty ends on March 31, 2012.

I have a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500, which I purchased in November 2010. I purchased it because my 2009 had a gasoline leak, which my mechanic found. When I took it in, I also took it in for AC/HACV recall. They refused to allow me to leave with my truck. They said it was too dangerous, and they had no loaner. Now I own a 2006 Dodge Diesel, and this 2010, plus I have had nothing but Dodge products for the past 14 years. So when they refused my request, I asked them what I was supposed to do to get home and that my job required that I am on call as the Crisis Center Director 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; and my husband is the EMS Director for Atascosa County and he is also on call 24/7. Neither of us could be without a vehicle. Also note I was 32 miles from home. When nothing else could be done, I was told I could trade my 2009 for a 2010. So I did, because I needed a vehicle immediately. I lost the lifetime warranty on the 2009 Dodge. By the way, I am also a senior citizen aged 65. When I took the 2010 in for the recall last week, I asked about the plastic discoloration on my truck handles. The truck is a beautiful red, pretty and shiny; but the handles make it look bad. I have not damaged them in any way. I was told thats just how it was and they could do nothing. I want you to know that the quality of this trucks plastic is horrible both inside and out. When I trade again, should I have to, Im sure they will lower the trade-in price because of the handles and plastic; and that is not my fault. I believe you care about what people think, so Ive taken the time to write and inform you of this issue.I have always used this dealership and salesman for years, but Im very disappointed in your product. Too bad, you dont care enough to make sure your dealerships show the same respect to people.

We bought this truck with 4000 miles on it. A demo wrecker. Big, strong, able to handle what we could throw at it. Unfortunately, have had nothing but an issue out of the def system. Hard to keep a wrecker on the road when it keeps flashing the shut down and will not restart in 200 miles message. Finally my husband found the problem. Def fluid crystallizes when air hits it, and each time you add def fluid a small amt of air hits the fluid, so guess what happens. Right. Some of those crystals get in the system, stop up the injector. If you dont believe, check the funnel you use to add def fluid. Crystals you will find. Still has SES light for the system, but at least its not shutting down now. Just a bit disappointed in the product dodge advertised as the truck built especially for the wrecker industry. Wake up Dodge. Wheres your pride in your products? The amt I gave for this truck should make it trouble free for a long, long time.

I purchased a used ram 3500 for use on my farm and to pull my camper and haul my sxs back in Feb 2016 with 44,000 miles on it. In July 2016 took a trip to Florida and the check engine light came on. Took in when I returned home they reprogrammed the pcm. hence turned off the light. At the end of July 300 miles later I went to Tenn. The light came on again on my return home. 30 miles from home the traction control 4 wheel drive and anti lock brake lights came on. So I scheduled an appointment for the following Friday. Dropped it off at 8 am the 5th of Aug. They have put 4 or 5 parts on it all have had to be ordered. They still have the truck 3 going on 4 weeks later and the part they say it now needs is on national back order until the 6th of Sept. I have tried to get my money back as its holding me up on things I need to do. The dealer says no and Chrysler complaint dept has done nothing but follow up with the dealer occasionally calling me... saying that it doesnt qualify for a buyback. How do you sell vehicles you can keep parts for and how long is too long to have to wait? My patience are done... MY SUGGESTION IS DO NOT BUY A RAM PRODUCT CAUSE THEY DO NOT BACK THEM. Since I work with the public and go above and beyond to keep my customers satisfied, I believe this is very poor customer service.

I have had problem with this vehicle ever since Ive owned it! It has 52,000 original miles on. The engine oil pan is rotted, heat shields rotted and rubbing on the flywheel, electrical system replaced, rotted body no matter how many times it was repaired! Dodge/C has done nothing to help me But take my money. Purchased extended warranty, nothing covered - fed up! Stopped warranty, after multiple items were being denied, never was treated this way. Now starter 426.00 to replace, 965.00 for engine oil pan replacement, rotted heat shields on motor, trans heat shield rubbing. Dodge refuses to do anything but charge me up the you know what. I bought 4 vehicles from them and they never did one warranty or recall. Totally refused, waited almost 1 year on my jeep recall. Why dont you guys honor your vehicles? I bought my 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 in 2010. Truck had close to 60,000 miles when I bought it. Now granted yes this was a used vehicle and you have to expect to run into problems. However what would come to happen over the next five years was completely ridiculous. After having the truck for 6 months my shift solenoid went out. No big deal covered under warranty. After the repair and 2 months later I had major rear end problems. Still no big deal, warranty covered it and my rear end was rebuilt. Almost all new guts for the rear end differential were replaced. 3 days after the repair I noticed that there was too much slack in the rear-end. When taking off you could hear the rear end engaging and very hard. When shifting gears it was haunting. I took it back to Dodge and they informed me then the warranty was no longer valid and that there was no way their mechanic made a mistake. I had to have a vehicle. So a week after my visit to Dodge as I was driving down the road the gears in the rear end finally had enough. The rear-end locked up and the gears crumbled causing the drive shaft to fall completely out and onto the road. I had to pay for a new rear end rebuild at a different shop that was not affiliated with Dodge. Since then I have had other issues. I have replaced both front hubs. I have had to have the right side manifold fixed. And most recently I replaced a CV axle. While replacing the CV axle I found the shaft within the CV axle was snapped in half. I only use for wheel drive when needed and I keep the maintenance on my truck very well. I operate the 4-wheel drive regular to keep the parts moving and make sure its working. I am now looking at a completely new front end differential. I am very dissatisfied with Dodges service. I am a military member due to move this week and now I have no vehicle and a wife and two daughters. I dont expect anything to be done about this truck and its issues being that its almost 10 years old but take my advice - do not buy a Dodge. I am not the only one that has had problems. They are complete money pits especially once your warranty runs out and Dodge does not want to take responsibility for mistakes that were made at the factory and by supposed certified Dodge mechanics thereafter.

Just bought my truck two months ago, only made three payments so far and its the super basic model, no bells, no whistles. When we first took the test drive there was upper ticking (which still happens from time to time upon start-up) in the motor and the salesman said it hasnt been started in a while but would make sure it was fixed. Then the first time I ever switched it into 4wd it made horrible grinding noises. Took it to the beach and almost got stuck cause the 4wd wouldnt engage properly. Took it back to the dealership to have it looked at and they said it was fine, but of course, it will seem fine on flat pavement cause there is no resistance. At that point, I found out about some recalls that were issued, so I asked for that to be looked into, but there were no parts available and one of the recalls. Chrysler didnt even know what they were going to do about it and I was advised to not drive my truck, yet all the 2015 models were pulled off the lot and werent able to be sold for the same recall. So seeing how my truck was deemed unsafe for my family I asked for a different truck. They wouldnt do anything for me not even get me a loaner car till this issue was figured out. The dealership offered to give me a trade in on another truck, but wouldnt give me what I paid for my truck two months ago and also the trade in would raise my monthly payments. This is complete ** in my eyes how I have had nothing but issues with this truck and all I want is a vehicle that is reliable and safe for my family and not a single person will get me a fair deal on a different truck or something. Im paying 35k for a unsafe vehicle. I cannot wait to be done with Chrysler. This is the very first time I have ever bought a vehicle from a dealership and this whole experience has ruined dealerships for me. Thanks for nothing.

On Oct 31 I was driving to work in my 2013 Ram 2500 Laramie, 58K truck. About 3/10 of a mile before my turn in, the transmission threw itself in 1st gear (from about 45MPH) and the truck completely stalled in the roadway. No gears, transmission would not engage, no power, no go. Had the truck towed to Moss Bros San Bernardino. Moss tells me it will be at least 1 week before they can even LOOK at my vehicle - however it was already towed to the dealer, and as stated before - it was and still is completely inoperable. The following day I receive a call from Moss Bros - stating they THINK a bearing on the input shaft grenades itself through the transmission, and is covered under warranty and theyre going to work on getting a replacement.Fast forward to Friday the 4th I receive a phone call from the dealer and they say they HAVE NOT torn down the transmission case nor done anything to the vehicle. Well how could they have known or hypothesised a bearing went out without even having looked at the vehicle? The following week I receive a phone call from the dealer stating that the transmission will be rebuilt and covered by FCA however, parts are on back order (specifically the valve body). My service writer told me to expect it to be in by the 22nd of November. However, he also mentioned they have brand new transmissions (68RFE) in stock at their local warehouse. However FCA will not authorise a replacement. All while my vehicle has been sitting at the dealership for approx. 2 weeks at this point and I have not been offered a rental vehicle of any sort. So I call FCA Parts escalation and I am told the valve body is on back order and to expect it by the 22nd. November 22 rolls around and I receive a phone call saying that there was an issue with the vendor for the valve body and they are delighted to inform me that the part will arrive the week of the 28th.I explain to FCA parts escalation how this is unacceptable as my work vehicle, revenue generating work vehicle, my fleet vehicle has been out of service for 3 weeks and I cannot do my job with my personal vehicle. I was not offered any kind of rental for my truck being in service for so long either. Parts escalation then assigns me a case manager. Im told to expect a call from the case manager the following day. Never received phone call. The following day I receive a phone call from Felicia in Chrysler Parts escalation and she explains to me that the valve body will be delivered on 12/1/16, however that IS NOT A GUARANTEED DELIVERY DATE AND IS SUBJECT TO FURTHER DELAY. Again, 12/1/16 marks 31 days without my work vehicle.I call my case manager repeatedly only to never receive a callback or even as much as an email. Fast forward to today, 11/28/16. I call my case manager and repeatedly leave voicemails demanding to be called back. After about 4 attempts I get ahold of someone who passes me onto a manager, who then calls my case managers, Irving, directly. Irving explains that Chrysler is not responsible to provide a rental vehicle, nor will they provide a rental vehicle, nor will they compensate for a rental vehicle, nor will they replace the transmission (when the COMPLETE transmission is in stock at the local warehouse) and I will have to wait until the valve body is delivered.I got a complete run-around from him about how FCA is not liable for rentals, nor is the dealership, and nor will they further investigate replacing the transmission with one in the local warehouse to get me back on the road faster. So here I am still without my work truck not being able to do nearly 1/5 of my daily tasks because FCA will not do anything to expedite the repairs on my vehicle. I should also note that the vehicle is currently under the 5 year 100K mileage warranty. FCA corporate has given me nothing but a complete run-around and basically shove it attitude about expediting the repairs on the vehicle or issuing a replacement which would have solved the issue 100% and gotten me back on the road 3 weeks ago.

I just bought a new 2016 RAM 1500 Limited, just shy of $60,000. The truck is really a luxurious, roomy, and very comfortable ride all-around. In fact, this is my second RAM as I traded a 2012 Dodge RAM 1500 Big Horn. Today marks one month of ownership and I have only put 225 miles on the truck since taking delivery.Upon getting my new RAM home I started to notice several issues with both exterior and interior finishes that are result of sloppy handling of materials during manufacturing. In addition, my exhaust system was loose and the right rear tailpipe was loose enough to fall off. I notified my dealer and took it in for review of all issues noted. The dealer will be replacing a dash bezel and the leather covered console armrest to remove damaged materials. Then my dealer reviewed the bubble-like fish eye in the paint on the hood. What was so shocking he walked around the truck and pointed out numerous defects in the finish of the paint that I had not found on my own. The more he looked, the more defects he found. It reached a point where I felt really bad about my new truck and really sick about the price I paid for it! The dealer has opened a case on my truck which isnt entirely clear to me what that means.I get home from my visit to my dealer and decide to call RAM customer service to relate all of this and learned something that was not disclosed to me at the point of sale. I was so excited to finally own a vehicle that would give me the ability to navigate Pandora on a big dash screen. Over the past month I have about gone crazy trying to get Pandora to load to the UConnect system only to learn from a rep at RAM customer service that there is no way to make it work as intended due to the loss of a third party technology relationship that is necessary to bring Pandora and UConnect together. What a disappointment!I was told that a notice went out to dealers earlier this year regarding the Pandora issue. However, no one informed me, the consumer, that this luxury feature will never work through the UConnect system. This may have given me pause to move ahead with the purchase. At nearly $60,000, I should not be writing such a negative review of my new truck. All I can do is hope that RAM steps up and backs the product and goes the distance to give me some sense of customer satisfaction. That part remains to be seen.

Purchased vehicle at dealership, good mileage, good condition in 11/2011 for $32,000+. We have always provided good maintenance to all of our vehicles. In 01/2015 due to an engine warning light, vehicle taken to dealership immediately. Thereafter, vehicle repeatedly taken for same problem. 3 months later and without a vehicle were told manufacturer was involved to solve the problem. Few weeks later case manager indicated unable to correct mechanical problem and stated as matter of fact, the vehicle was already old. We have vehicles older and still running good. How is it possible that the manufacturer is unable to provide technical assistance to their own dealership. Every time the dealership would call us to pick up the truck, we paid the bill and within 24 hours and on occasion, we could not even drive the vehicle out. After going back and forth, putting a lot of personal time to it, we sent a letter explaining our frustration, the poor customer care response, asking for a refund due to their lack of resolving the problems and finally sent a letter to their office in Auburn Hills, MI. We finally got a response on 03/2016 stating After thoroughly reviewing your request and our files on this matter, we respectfully concur with our previous decision. I am not sure which decision they are referring to. Someone within the manufacturer technical assistance failed to solve our problem. If they cannot, who else can? We feel we should be paid for a product Chrysler Dodge Ram could not fix. My hard earned money cannot be a loss. I sincerely feel victimized by big corporate.

My 16 month old son, Odin, and my 3 year old Thor had just been buckled into their seats. I just plugged in my phone as my battery died sending a text that I would meet in a few minutes... for the catfish festival! I backed out, started driving and poof! My airbags exploded!!! I drove off the road and into my neighbors driveway without ever hitting the breaks. Next thing I know, my face, shoulder and arm are burned from the airbags, and my kids are screaming. My neighbors all come out, one saw the whole thing, and asked what happened. I am sure I sounded like crazy lady with..I have no idea. But, I really didnt know why one minute I was fine. And the next I had airbags and a crash. 1 week later I got the recall in the mail for the airbags. I still have not received the recall for temporary loss of vehicle control. Ram has not responded to my report of the recall, its been a week and I have called EVERY day to see when I get to talk to someone. I walked into local Ram dealer and asked for the local Chrysler rep-Scott ** - I cant get his number nor will they give me his email or even a mailing address for a lawsuit letter! My GEICO rep wants to part out my totaled truck without looking into the recall. I am told by 3 GEICO adjusters, they are not going to download the box... the magic box that will confirm my airbags, and if I want to persist i.e. It I can. Wow. Where is the class action? My attorney said since me and my kids werent racking up thousands of medical bills (we were only going 15 mph) it is not worth taking on. I am now out 10,000 to get my same truck this year. I am changing insurance, to say the least, and want to sue Chrysler... but have no address for my lawyer to send a letter to! Anyone else have this problem??? My uncle owned a Chrysler dealership for 30 years (retired for last 15) and has never heard of such negligence by Ram. He is embarrassed to have been their rep/dealer.

I need a diagnostics test to see why the RPMS escalate while sitting still and in drive, accelerating to about 7/8 RPMS,while not going nowhere. Its been doing this for about 2 1/2 yrs and all they can tell me is, cannot diagnose the problem if it doesnt register on the diagnostic tester. They want me to pay my deductible on my insurance, Im not doing it. They should find out whats wrong with it at their expense since its been happening at about 20,000 miles. And they will not pay for a loan car while its being looked at. Lord help me if it shoots me out into traffic.

Own 2012 Dodge Ram with only 30k miles. Heater core went bad and will cost $800-$1100 to repair. Called Dodge and they will not pay any portion of the repair due to Age of truck. Explained truck looks like new with extremely low mileage (average mileage for a year is 12-15k miles) and would do absolutely nothing!! Done with this company. Will be sure to let people know and will post on social media as well. Poor customer service!!!

I manage a small ambulance service in rural Louisiana and have 3 Dodge Ram
I manage a small ambulance service in rural Louisiana and have 3 Dodge Ram 4500s. Cummins diesel. Two of the units are 4x4. At 37000 miles we had a total failure of the front U-joint that caused a catastrophic failure and burst a huge hole in the front transfer case that caused the unit to literally come off of the road and broke the transmission housing and pulled all the wiring harness out from under the unit. Needless to say we had to be towed and thank God there was no patient on board. The vehicle had only been placed into 4-wheel drive once since it was new and that was only to test it out to see if it worked. We maintain the vehicles every 7500 miles and that includes greasing the drive train. When we took the vehicle to our local dealer (big mistake #1) the service manager and his incompetent staff gave no less than 5 reasons why this had occurred. After each excuse was refuted they finally said that Dodge was refusing to warrant the vehicle due to maintenance neglect. They said that the front drive shaft had not been greased. There is no mention of the front U-joint grease fitting other than a small 1 inch by 1 inch sticker under the hood on the right cowl. When I asked all the other dealers in the region about the front U-joint they either didnt know that it existed or call in a maintenance free joint. I searched and searched for the grease fitting (which doesnt exist) and finally had a good local mechanic drop the front drive shaft and we found a small pressure hole valve that can be entered with a special device to introduce grease into the joint. The dealer blamed Dodge and Dodge blamed the dealer for not honoring the warranty. Both parties lying at this point. When the local dealer finally had our unit repaired after 3 months in the shop, the total bill was 16000.00 dollars. So the moral of the story is, if you have a 3500, 4500, or 5500 4x4 Ram you better drop your drive shaft NOW and put some grease in the port that no one knows about or you will be faced with a massive bill. It is also worth mentioning that you are supposed to do this at every oil change. The U-joint that the local dealer put in new was put in without grease, as I went straight to a competent mechanic and had the shaft dropped to find out. It took 16 zerks of grease before it filled. So basically they put a dry joint back in and we were headed back down the same road to destruction. The local dealer did absolutely nothing to help and therefore have lost years of routine maintenance work due to their sorry practices. Bad business decision. I know take all of units out of town for work. All Ram 4x4 owners better beware!!

After getting the truck back again, the burning smell is as bad if not worse than ever. Ive started asking for a new truck. Im going to lemon law next and then to small claims court. I would not recommend Ram trucks to anyone especially the dealer that Ive been bringing it to. Very, extremely displeased with Ram and Lester Glenn in Toms River, NJ.

I had to replace the front tires, and asked for a front end alignment, this was not at a Dodge dealer, was told it couldnt be done without replacing the ball joints to the tune of about $1000.00. Went to the dealer. Their answer was to rotate tires, nice.

This has been a nightmare of gargantuan proportions. I purchased a vehicle, signed the paperwork December 9, 2019. The vehicle was finally delivered to me Friday, December 20th. It was dirty inside when I picked it up and it never worked properly. I took it back to the dealer the following Monday morning (Dec. 23rd). It is now March 11, 2020 and I still do not have a vehicle. The corporate employees I have had to deal with told me things like, they have an unlimited amount of time to decide what to do. They dont return calls in a timely manner. They are trying to get me to take another truck and charge me more, because the special that was running at the time I bought the original truck isnt applicable now. They have offered to trade vehicles for weeks, but havent agreed to a meeting time to arrange for it. I have been paying insurance and payments for a vehicle I dont have and they havent offered to reimburse me for the insurance. I posted on Dealer Rater and BBB in January and it was the only thing that got their attention, so here I am again, hoping to get this settled and, to be honest, I dont want anything to do with Dodge/Chrysler anymore at this point. I just want my money back so I can go elsewhere and purchase a vehicle that works from a dealer that cares. Oh, and the real kicker is that I have since found out that the problem with this model has been known for over four years, the parts to fix it are hard to get and one service tech said he is surprised by one of these vehicles lasting 10,000 miles before the failure occurs. Yet, they are still selling the vehicles. If they are out of warranty when the problem occurs, it costs over $7000 to fix it.

My wife and I have purchased a 2016 Ram 1500 8 speed with the 5.7 Hemi with 0 miles on it. I loved the truck because it is my first truck. However, with only a little over 3000 miles on it I started to experience the truck lunging forward when coming to a stop between 1st and 2nd gears. I took it in 2 times for this and they just reprogrammed the TCM (trans control module). The third visit the truck was at the dealer for a week and a half and they replaced the valve body and TCM sensor.Last night 8/28/17 while driving through the main streets the truck died on me and the dash lights were flashing. I had no brakes, power steering, or transmission control over the truck. I am very lucky that I was not on the highway when this happened. I had the tow truck take it to the dealer and the diagnostics had over 10 fault codes... now thats pretty scary. I have since obtained a lawyer and we are pursuing lemon law here in California. Sadly my trust in the Mopar brand is broken and will never purchase another Dodge product again.

I have talked to several individuals through Dodge and they all seem not to care. A week ago, on June 25, 2013, I arrived home at 4 pm and left with a friend and was notified by my neighbor at 6:30 pm that my truck which had been parked since 4 pm was fully engulfed in flames. He held water from the garden hose on it until the VFD arrived to extinguish what was left. The end result is that from the cab forward, it is totally burned to the ground. With only liability insurance on it, its a total loss with no idea how it caught on fire. The point of origin looks to be from the drivers side fender well area under the hood. Ive heard numerous rumors of the fuse boxes shorting out, and/or the avs shorting out causing the fire. Thus far, Ive not seen or heard of any recall from Dodge. Can anyone guide me to the correct direction for restitution for my truck that was in great condition with many more miles of dependability left in it or so I thought? Is Dodge going to stand behind their product that has been proven by other owners to have this problem and make good for it? Or just keep taking our money for vehicles with a lifespan of maybe lasting long enough to pay them off before just having to dispose of it?

My 2008 Dodge Ram 1500s motor blew up on Aug 6. This particular model is not covered past three years/36,000 miles. I bought it used and the first owner didnt buy the extended warranty. I contacted Chrysler directly, case number 21213374, in order to find out if they would assist me in some way since a three-year-old motor should not blow up. Aug 8 was my initial call and I have called my caseworker Natasha every day and left messages in order to find a resolution. She has not yet returned my calls despite my plea for immediate assistance and I am without a vehicle and insurance will not provide a loaner. Considering the automotive industry is lagging considerably, wouldnt customer service be a top priority? No loyalty to repeat owners (I have had six Chrysler autos) and complete indifference to people in need of help.

Purchased this 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab 4 x 4 new and have maintained this vehicle as if it were new the entire time. Serviced reg, kept in garage, never wrecked, NOT in a salt air environment and looks brand new on the inside. Noticed that the paint was coming off on the cab and is degenerating other places. Took it to a body shop to have a quote on painting. Come to find out, Dodge admitted that the paint on this year’s truck was defective & had no clear coat. Contacted Dodge through letters to corporate. There is nothing wrong with the truck except that Dodges paint was defective. As was told to them - there is a very little trade in value due to the paint being defective. Dodge also stated that the paint company has warranties that have nothing to do with Dodge so it would be my responsibility to correct their mistake. Their solution was to give me up to a 4% discount (off the sticker price) on a new truck or would work on a trade in which equals out to approximately $2,000 +/- either way. Dodge also stated that most people dont keep trucks that long. Wow, Dodge needs to spend the money to fix what they knew was wrong to begin with. Pictures are available!

I purchased a new 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 Crew Cab as I needed a bigger cabin for the family. I traded in my 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab (which also had this issue and I purchased new). With the truck only being only 5 months old from delivery and with it only having a few over 6,000 miles I noticed that the back seat area of the truck was soaked and water logged. After inspection I realized that the truck was leaking water into the cabin from the outside along with evidence of rusting in the area along with other metal parts inside the cabin of the truck not adjacent to that area.I reported it to Ram customer service in Twitter as well as to the dealer. Their response was to bring the vehicle back next Monday when the water leak guy would be there... (This was a Wednesday.) I was also told that this was only a minor inconvenience and not a big deal as well as I was advised to turn the heater on in the vehicle and let it run under the sun. On Friday I decided I was not going to wait until Friday and I brought the truck to the dealer. The service agent essentially told me they would do a clean up, let it dry, fix the leak and get it back to me in no time! I did not accept this and I escalated to Ram customer service and was took that they would be replacing the headliner, the backseat, the carpet, underlining and all rusted parts!I received my truck today (25 days after it was dropped off at the dealer) and the dealer told me the back window had been re-sealed as this was leaky, the third tail light had been rescaled as this was also leaky, that a new seat had been installed, a new headliner has been installed, the carpeting had been replaced and all rusted parts had been replaced. They said they inspected it and it looked good! They also delivered the truck to me filthy as it could be (outside) - spider webs and grime everywhere.I arrived home and inspected the vehicle closer, the back seat was not replaced (although they said so and the paperwork they gave says so, there is wear and tear on the truck from the car seat latches which were there before I brought the truck in and there is still rust on the frame of the seat). There is rust in many places in the truck (caused by evaporation and condensation taking place inside the truck since the truck left the manufacturing line). So I cannot trust that anything else they have said and have formally communicated on paper is true... I have continuously asked Ram customer service to repurchase or replace the vehicle because it is compromised. I bought a defective vehicle for the second time. I have been deceived and lied to and I am still stuck in a truck which was damaged and defective at the time of purchase unbeknownst to me.

2012 Ram 3500. Had this truck 2 1/2 years. Its had the high mount stop light replaced 3xs to correct a water leak. Not confident its fixed, only seems to last a few months. Had radio updated 3xs before replacing to fix the nav system. The major issue is that when I slow or come to a stop I get diesel exhaust fumes coming from the vents. I have complained to the dealer about 4xs about this, they can never find anything. Last trip in last week they smelled the exhaust and replaced the EGR. Picked up truck Saturday, drove it Monday and same issue. Started a case with Chrysler. They called back and asked what is my expected outcome? Really told them take the truck and give me my money back, just dont think they know how to correct the issue and its to the point no one will ride in the truck. This is nasty, not to mention a health hazard. This is my 1st & last Chrysler product Ill ever buy.

I bought a new Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 on 03/26/2012. The warranty has run out. The truck currently has about 60k + miles on it. The truck started making a whining noise from the rear end. I brought it to my local Dodge dealer to get it looked at. Turns out its the rear end pinion bearing that went bad. The mechanic told me that I might be in luck and that there might be a recall on this rear end. He did some research and found out my VIN number did not match the recall. The repair that the recall calls for is the same repair they did on my truck. The pinion bearing they took out of the truck was trashed due to lack of proper lubrication, the reason for the recall. I called the RAM customer assistance office and received no assistance with this repair. This lack of lubrication condition could cause the pinion bearing to seize and cause a loss of vehicle control and or cause a crash without warning. The last sentence was pulled directly from the recall advisory that for some reason does not include my truck yet the problem I had is just like the recall. RAM really needs to get this checked out before someone is injured. If you own a 2012 Ram 1500 get it checked out. Safety Recall K36.

I bought a 2013 RAM 4 door 4x4 diesel with 15 miles on it in August of 2013. After a while my passenger door wouldnt shut right. You would have to slam it which Im totally against. But anyways when I hit 600 miles on my way out to the R.O.W. my check engine light came on and gave me a message saying something I cant remember exactly but see dealer. So I called the dealer in Enid, OK where I had just bought the TRUCK I have always wanted to purchase, the truck of my dreams. So I turned around and went to the Dodge house and I had to get my whole truck resynchronized. No big deal. They said its a new truck, I said ok. This is my first new truck I guess this is normal. I was convinced so then I get back on the road head to work. It yaaa, its fixed, got that out of the way back to new. Almost month goes by at 2,000 miles check engine, see dealer, Im freaking out. I call the dealer. I had to get the software updated again. They said no big deal, this happens all the time. Wont hurt anything. I said somethings wrong with this. This cant be right. So they updated it again. So I hit the road 2,500 miles, it happens again. At this point Im fed up. I talk to ** the sales guy that sold me the truck and I told him whats going on. He said well lets go check it out. Checks it out and he comes back says it just needed updated and youll be good to go. I said ok but somethings not right. The sales guy said this is what happens when you buy a new truck, you have to work out the bugs. I said No, no. The whole truck is not right. He said oh its all good and if you have any more problems just stop by and we will get it fixed for you. I just walked off mad with this truck they put me in. My job moved from Enid, OK to Elk City, OK about three hrs away so I go to Doug Gray of Elk City OK. At 35,000 miles my fuel pump goes out. Wow, wow this is crazy. I have a 96 chevy that still has its original fuel pump. Wow so they fix that well about 34,000. My truck starts down shifting hard. I mean hard. There was a knock on the floor every time I would decell so I stop back by the Dodge house in Elk City OK and they had to relearn the my tranny and they charged me to relearn my tranny. I made a big deal about it but didnt wave it, stopped the hard shift I was surprised yaaaa they took care of it for me. Well a couple of weeks go by it starts the hard down shift again so I call Doug Gray of Elk City and go by there. They relearned my tranny without charge this time. Before I moved to Houston my factory warranty was almost up so I spent $1,500 to extended everything to 109,000 miles for my protection and to save me some money in the long run - nottt. Thats a joke too. I have to pay anyway at 50,000 miles. My truck was due for an oil change. I took it in there, got everything done and the service guys come out and says did you know your front differential is leaking. Its not bad but leaking. You have to get that fixed right now. I said is it under warranty? If it is, fix it. If its not, I cant afford it. But I extended my warranty, front diff seal is part of the drive train. They said yeah but you have to pay 400$, its not under your warranty. I said why. So I had gotten it fixed shortly after that and its doing fine. Now Im at 85,000 miles and I get a message SAYING PREFORM SERVICE SEE DEALER. So I had the money so I get that done for 1,800$ and I ask them what do yall have to do to fix that **? One of the service advisors at Clear Lake Dodge told me that it consist of all my filters from fuel to air to oil and that theres a filter in the def and some other exhaust filter of some sort. I said ok well and let me purchase a oil service contract. He said ok I have this good deal, 3 car wash, 3 oil changes and 3 tire rotations for 180$ so I got it and I told him not to rotate my tires because they were wore down and I was buying new ones the next day!!! So what did ** do everything I told him not to. Like he had lack of attention when he was baby (HE DID NOT TELL ME I COULD ONLY USE THAT CONTRACT THERE or his sister store). Now Im at 88,000 miles I now moved to Houston TX at 88,000 miles. Truck has been running fine until I pulled out of a parking lot and I notice my D.E.F gauge went from half a tank to nothing and it said refill D.E.F speed limited to 5 mph in 190 miles. I was like ok so I pull over and refill my def, hop back in the truck and start to take off and look down and my gauge is not working. Im like whaaat? Whaaat is going on? So I start to the house and Im worried on the way home my gauge started working until I let off the gas and my gauge stopped working again. But it reset itself back to 190 miles till limited. At least it reset itself but gauge still not working. I was going to stop in the middle of Houston and break down so I keep going. I make it home, kill my truck and started my truck again. Gauge came on then went right back off and reset itself from 100 miles to limited to 5 mph back to 190 miles to limited. I took my truck to the shop and they want to charge me cause their pump is defaulty. And this is where I sit right now, trying to get Chrysler to fix my truck. The only reason I bought a new truck is so that way I didnt have a breakdown and keep putting money into something. I think these new trucks are a joke - nice but a joke. Its like they have a button they push when they want you to spend money and invest in their product for more sales.

While picking up the 2007 Ram, I found water under the back seats. The sales representative assured me it was due to the cleaning and washing of the truck, and if this was a window leak, the dealer will service it. It rained last night, and I found plenty of water under the seats. Now the dealer sale representative and manager denied seeing and saying that the dealer would be responsible for the leakage. I need the rear window to be repaired; the rain or water is affecting the structural integrity of the car due to corrosion. Needless to say, the mildew and smell inside the car is not acceptable. If I would have been aware of this issue, I would have never bought the truck.

We have a Diesel 5500 Dodge Ram with that horrible DEF system. During this recent snow storm the computer system told us we had 195 miles to service the DEF system before the truck would CUT OFF. This is the 2nd time in 40,000 miles we have had this happen. We are a snow plowing company,195 miles during a snow storm does not give us a lot of time. We brought the truck into Ross Dodge (Boone, NC) and we were told there was no one to help in service, we took it back the next day and the service people told us they would not look at the truck until the ice and salt had been removed from the bottom of the truck. They did offer to keep it in their bay overnight to melt the debris away. Crazy thing is the truck was needed to (lets all say it together) plow snow. Why couldnt they take it over to their handy car wash and wash it off, or put on their big boy underpants and deal with the dirt? They do not keep the DEF part in stock. So now back to the dealership for a 3rd, or maybe its the 4th, time to replace a part that we have no control over. Why is this part not stocked? It is used on so many Dodge Diesels both commercial and individual. Shame on Dodge for letting one state control their multibillion dollar company. Grow a set and stand up to California!

On March 22, 2015 I did my paperwork to lease a Ram 1500. I had been driving it for the last week and ended up driving about 300 miles. I have had some issues with the truck from the radio, to the wheel sensors, to hub bearings, to paint work. I dealt with it for almost a year, and saw it was truck month again. I decided to go in and trade my vehicle and see what If I could get something different. The dealer asked me when I wrecked my truck. Told them I never wrecked my truck. CarFax is showing that on 2/3/14 the vehicle was involved in a front and rear impact accident. Very minor damages reported. So then my investigating skills got the best of me. With the dealers help, I have received the invoice, build date, transportation drop off date, PDI report etc. I found all this stuff about my truck at the beginning of March of 2015. Contacted CarFax and they confirmed that the vehicle was in an accident in Michigan on 2/3/14. So looking at the dealer invoice, it was invoiced on 2/10/14. Accident occurred before the dealer invoice. No dealer trade was involved. Shipped directly to the dealer. The transportation company dropped off the truck on 3/10/14. Exactly one month after the dealer invoice, and there were NO damages to the truck. I have the transportation copy of drop off and signatures on the sheet. The dealership was also able to provide me with the build sheet and it to was in a KZOB status. This was interesting because it has limited definitions on the sheet, but one stuck out was damage. The truck then was Pdid at the dealership on 3/12/14 with 12 miles on it. Then I started looking at the truck and drove it for a week and leased it on 3/22/14. Chrysler customer service told me it was just a scratch on the truck and that is why there is a CarFax incident. I said that there is a scratch on the truck and now its reported to CarFax? What? If it was a scratch wouldnt it have been fixed and sent out? Why would they report it to CarFax? Who is covering what up? Today on 5/11/15, I am getting nowhere with Chrysler/Ram/Fiat. Everyone wants to pass the buck and point fingers to the dealership. Now I am waiting to see if the district manager for Chrysler Great Lakes region can do something. I have had a discussion with him, after learning about the CarFax report, and he said.... it happens with transportation damage. I can understand transportation damage occurring, but you would never think that when buying/leasing a brand new vehicle that it would have already been wrecked. The value of my truck isnt as much as one with a one owner, good serviced, good CarFax vehicle. But it is ok to deceive the dealer and the public/buyer.

This truck is one of my favorite vehicles. I had zero problems with it and the Hemi engine is awesome. My only complaint was that it got pretty bad gas mileage, and this during 2007 and 2008 when gas was 4 something a gallon in Texas. Great truck, fair to good interior, low payload capacity, but towed a trailer well. Nice sounding and fast.

2014 Ram 3500 with 49k, we are on our 2nd set of tires due to wear on the outer edges. Had the truck in the dealer multiple times and everything is within specs to them. If youre in the market for a new Ram 3500 this will give you something to consider when making your decision.

Where do I start? My truck is a 2016 RAM 2500 6.7 Diesel. 4k miles on it. Ive only had it 3 months and been to dealer twice each month since bought it. Windows had bubbles in them. Alignment issues - pulls to the right. Service manager said this is very common meant while my front tires are wearing out badly. Shimmy at steering wheel at hwy speeds. Service ABS system displays at every start. Told be service rep, basically not to expect much since most of these trucks i.e 2500 are all doing it that it will continue to have a pull on the alignment. Going in to dealer again tomorrow second time in one month for same issue on alignment.

From day 1 when I drove off the lot I called dealer and said brakes are squeaking and grinding. They said too bad get new brakes, lol. Yep seriously brand new van. So I have taken it for a weekly oil change for 2 months and said brakes are bad and have been told no it is my imagination. So now that the warranty is out they say I need to pay them 500 for new brakes. They are worn to metal on 2 month old van. The coolant leaks. There is a hole in the floor of the van, a mid-weld, the headliner does not meet pastis and is frayed, one recall cant be fixed. No parts and dont know when they will have them. The leaf spring bushings are bad and the van squeaks going down road. So 2 issues are dangerous safety issues. Chrysler will not fix anything. I had a 10 year old Sprinter that I should have kept. This is complete junk and Ram Chrysler has zero customer care. Do not buy one, this may put me out of business. The pic is the hole in floor. Notice you can see the ground outside

I had a great experience when I owned my Dodge Ram. The truck was very nice as far as inward and outward appearances, and it was sporty enough for a casual day, for a baseball cap and jeans, and classy enough for a Sunday afternoon tie and shirt day. The gas mileage was much better than I thought and the ride was extremely comfortable. There was plenty of leg space and the engine was as quiet as a mouse. If I ever get to the point when I can afford to purchase another Ram, I would do it in a heartbeat, with no hesitation.

My 2011 Dodge Ram Laramie Crew Cab 4x4 built on 5/16/2011 and purchased on 7/24/2011 has an air turbulence problem in the A-pillars of the front doors. It has been to the dealer three times. Mine was built after they redesigned the door gaskets yet after 60 mph the turbulence becomes an issue. I cant find anything on this problem and if it is not a recall or in a TSB, Dodge doesnt seem to want to admit there is a problem or want to try and fix it. The doors were readjusted yet the issue is still there.

Purchased a used Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab with Hemi 3 months ago...191,000 miles. Nice truck, had a mechanic look at it. The Spark Plug coil pack melted on Sunday. Replaced it along with a fuse. This morning (Thursday), same coil pack did the same thing. Anyone know of issues regarding this? Called Dodge, they told me no recalls. The Dodge Ram is supposed to be a superior truck, but Ive had it for 3 months and its been in the shop 4 times! I had a Honda Accord for 5 years that was in the shop only 4 times in 5 years. Help!

Own a 2005 DodgeRam One ton Mega cab diesel. Truck is stuck in the middle of my driveway, cannot be removed from park. Need a simple $75 part, the shifter cable that I have been told have been on back order since June 2015. I have logged 91 hours on the phone with salvage yards and Dodge stealerships. No reimbursement for 2 months for a rental truck. I am paying $600 a month for a truck I cannot remove from drive. No expectation date, no explanation as to why the long wait and NO apologies made by Dodge what so ever. There are 1244 on back order. How is this not a recall item? Always been a Dodge/Jeep fan. Maybe not so much after this experience. We shall see how much longer we will have to wait to get this part that is notoriously faulty. Forums for days and days on the matter and many people displeased. Considering gathering this info and trying to talk to people about getting enough of us together on these forums to start a class action suit. This is our work truck. Dodge has shut us and many others down. Very discouraged!

My 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 has sat at the dealership for eight months now (since 5-10-2018). Not only was my claim within the 10 years and 100,000 miles, it could have caused a deadly accident. I just wanted the damage fixed. After eight months and the value dropping even further they completely denied the claim and would not even assist with some type of discount. My truck is inoperable and I paid $48,000 10 years ago. Now I am left with nothing and no recourse. If I have learned anything it is never buy from this company.

I am going hell with my Ram Promaster 1500 2015 I purchased 2 and half years. From day one it just has cause problems. Brakes went after 15,000 miles. Dealer (Dodge Ram Central Ave Yonkers NY) said there was nothing with them even though my mechanic told me there was and to bring it back to dealer as for the van was still under warranty. Nevertheless they wouldn’t change them. It cost me $1200 out of my own pocket. Now for this last 2 weeks my van has been making weird noises, found one of radiator fans was broke so couldn’t use my ac till it was fixed then I was told the part that I need is on national back order and will take 1 -2 months to get. Wow now 2 days the other fan went and van is overheating and the only way I can drive is if I have heat on full blast which is impossible with 80 degree weather. Ram has told me that I shouldn’t drive the van as it could cause more damage. My mechanic has told there is 1400 people waiting for this part. It’s manufactured problem and ram hasn’t even issue a recall. They won’t give me loaner van. I now have to pay to rent a van $550 a week out of pocket till part is made which could be 1/2 months. They actually can’t give me ETA. I really think this should be looked into. Big corporations shouldn’t be able to get with this. I pay $38000 for this van which I shouldn’t have any problems for least 4/5 Years. Why should I have to pay for rental when’s it’s a manufacturer issue. Please help.

2013 ram 1500 - I got the truck new in august of 13 and it has 10006 miles. Now took it in today for an oil change and there is moisture in the left headlight. Asked about it and I was told normal wear. I dont understand how this is normal and it should be replaced through warranty, hope they all arent holding moisture. I was thinking of trading next year for another new ram but with the concern of the service I received no way will I ever buy another one. Just wondering if this is a problem with all the rams.

I purchased a used 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. Right after I did, it had a shake and grinding noise in the front end, so I took it in. They never put it on the lift; they just drove it and said there was nothing. I took it the next day to Dunn Tire. They found 2 tires with broken belts, so I had all 4 replaced. I told Fox Chrysler Dodge and they did nothing and said they couldnt hear the noise. Also, when I bought the truck before, as we were making the deal, there was a rust area on the driver side box wheel. Well, they told me they put new metal in as requested but it has started bubble rusting through. I have all the receipts from the 2 wheel bearings; I had to replace the tires, plus the rear end was leaking when they had it in once - I pointed that out and they never fixed it. I have the receipts from that also. I went to the Better Business site and filed a complaint (also the state DMV). I need help. These crooked dealers need to be stopped.

My 2012 Ram 1500 SLT is only used less than six months of every year and I have had two years yet the rear differential seal keeps going. Its been replaced twice and is leaking again in under six months since the last replacement. I requested they check that and the exhaust manifold last time it went in for repairs, and instead of doing so they suggested I buy a new truck, and when I refused their offer they continued to try to push me into it with numerous follow up calls. Needless to say they didnt even check why the seal keeps going just told me it was worn out and theres nothing that causes that, then told me the rattling noise was because I needed an oil change which had been done a month prior. Told them if thats what it was to do the oil change. After paying for another oil change and bringing my truck home I am still having the same issues, what do I do?

For the past two months, my truck has been in and out of three different dealerships. The truck stalls randomly. When it does, I lose steering and brakes. I have paid over $2000.00 in repairs and now the dealership wants another $1000.00 and said it might not fix the problem. Chrysler has been notified because the truck went into a ditch because of the steering and brakes went out when it stalled. The mechanic also notified Chrysler because they couldnt figure out what the problem is. Today Chrysler told me that there is nothing they will do and the only thing I can do is pay or trade/sell the truck because it is an 03 with 107000 miles. I have owned the truck for one year and three months. I understand that it is used and there is no warranty but when three dealerships and Chrysler techs cant figure out the problem, I think Chrysler should do more than what they are. I think that this is a very big safety issue and they would want to make sure that it was taken care of but it seems as if their only concern is for me to pay more money.
