Ram Automobile Model 2018 Ram 1500
2008 Dodge Ram 3500 with a severe front-end wobble. I purchased this vehicle used from a Chevy dealership with 46000 miles on it. At 50000 miles I had a violent wobble that started at the right side of the vehicle, spreading to the left, then moved to the back of vehicle. This wobble shook all in the cab of the truck. I returned the vehicle to the dealership where it was purchased in April 2011. There was no problem found with the front of the vehicle, so the dealership contacted a local Chrysler dealership that had no knowledge of known front end problems but suggested it could be caused by a worn tire. This dealer rotated the tires, balanced, and did a front-end alignment, which was covered by an extended warranty I had purchased; yet no failed components were found. This death wobble (as shown on the net) continued and at the present time it is at a Chrysler dealership. I have been contacted by the business stating they found no failed components, so the insurance will not cover any repairs; but the dealership feels it is the steering box linkage, which can be replaced at one thousand dollars (my cost) without a guarantee that it will fix the problem. Chrysler has known about the problem for years and has not come up with a solution to a poor design and will not assist in any repairs. The problem is covered in issue #74 of the TDR (Turbo Diesel Resource) where it talks about possible repairs and after-market business, such a Genos Garage, where they are marketing a BD steering box stabilizer which they state “will eliminate the wobble.” I checked with the NTSB for complaints, only to be advised there have been no deaths reported caused by this wobble. I want consumers to use caution when purchasing a used vehicle 2500 or 3500 Dodge Ram, but I also know that all vehicles does not have the problem or just not reported.
We purchased what was supposed to be a new 2014 Dodge Ram Laramie Longhorn Cummins motor crew cab dually. Well in all reality it was not. Had problems with the truck from day 3. Has a terrible lag, vibration, no power, will not hardly pull out of the driveway with a trailer on it. Dealer said, Thats not right. Bring it over. We took it over. They all do that we were told. Then why on the phone was I told there is something wrong. Come to find out the truck had apparently been bought and brought back. It had been worked on several times and was in service in Jan. when we purchased. In Aug. Dodge got involved and things have gone down since brake controller is out, cruise control is out, traction control is out, rear window leaks has a short in it somewhere, tires are wore completely out at 12,000 miles. ABS system works sometimes, exhaust brake works sometimes, uses oil about 1 quart per 1000 miles, fender flares falling off, running board falling apart, seat memory sometimes works, coolant light comes on, motor sounds like its going to blow, has a miss. Radio is going out map, light going out, not the bulb either, the map light itself. There are many more things going on. Dodge agreed to put us in another one but has to be of equal or less value so buyer beware. Do not buy a Dodge. We have talked to a lot of people that just give up and trade them off.
My boyfriend bought a 2011 Dodge Ram 2500. It was 69000 paid off same day. Well after a couple months of driving it, the steering was messing up. Then we received a letter saying there was a recall on left tie rod. Well we ended up taking it in to get fixed and have had them pretty much refuse us saying we need to take it to where we got it from, but I thought any Dodge dealership could help us. And before we found out about the recall we had spent 9 thousand to get it fixed and I dont think they did anything to fix it. We also spent 6 thousand on a service contract that doesnt really help us get anything fixes with truck. I just am so frustrated that we have a nice messed up truck and its just been sitting in our front yard for the last two years. Does anyone know what we should do since I have no idea? Im young and learning and really could use some direction in this problem. Thanks everyone. Have a nice day!!
Overall the truck is a good truck, has lots of features. I would recommend a test drive and purchase. Just like all vehicles now days, are overpriced, by being over inflation. The big screen on the dash is the biggest in the industry. Truck seems to be solidly built. Lots of electronics for a pleasant drive. The power of the diesel is a great asset with the four wheel drive.
I bought my 2017 Ram 2500 6.4 2/12 months ago. The truck when purchased had 11 miles in it. The day after I purchased the truck I started in driveway and noticed a puff of blue smoke. Went a couple days and noticed it 75% of the time. Called dealer with 200 miles on truck and they said to call them back at 500. It was just breaking in. I called them back at 500 and they said to give it until 1000 miles. At about 1500 miles I made them give me an appointment. It was over 2 quarts low on oil. They saw the smoke and topped it off. Now they have me doing an oil consumption test? Every 500 miles I have to go to dealer and they check it and top it off!It is averaging between a half a quart to 3/4 of a quart each time. They claim it is protocol that I have to do this up until 7500 miles! That nothing can be done until the break-in period but monitor it! This is insane! I have to drive to dealer every 500 miles. The truck is going to burn over 5 quarts before its first oil change! The warranty people on phone said this is normal protocol! Soooo over $40,000 on new truck, 5 quarts of oil per oil change and people coming up to me constantly telling me my brand new truck sure was smoking when I started it up (extremely embarrassing). Lesson learned.
The vehicle has had vibration in the front end. Since purchase I had to replace the ball joints at 38,000 miles. Front end tire wear has forced premature purchase of tires. Def fuel problems have delayed travel plans twice. From my research I believe the front end issues should be a recall item. I have had the truck in service now 20 times and now have a CAR FAX history that is affecting the sale of the vehicle.
Ram 3500 2010 exhaust permanent defect. Problem: Oil change light at 500 miles. Action taken by dealer. Ignore the message keep using it. Research results: Carbon particles in oil; thus lugging the filter. Problem: Check engine light. Action taken: Reset computer. Findings: maintenance staff could not correct design problems. Not trained. Problem: engine stalls; thus causing loss of power steering, power brakes and potential catastrophic accident under load conditions. Action taken: Reset Computer. The corresponding agencies should force Chrysler to buy back such trucks and compensate for the loss in market value. Nissan had to buy back the mini vans that had a problem with fire in the engine compartment.
I first purchased my 2019 Dodge Ram pickup back in April, everything went great I purchased an all black Big Horn. The whole dealership came to congratulate me on being the first to purchase. I received random thumbs up from strangers I was enjoying the truck as my daily driver, picking up the kids etc. Fast forward to my current experience with my Ram and I haven’t driven it a full week since August due to my power steering locking up at random times. The most recent time was two days ago where I couldn’t even get out the driveway nor turn the truck back into my yard without the power steering hindering my turn. After sitting in the waiting area a total of 10 hours, driving 3 different loaner vehicles, I now feel like purchasing this truck was one of my worst experiences I’ve made. I know that many new vehicles have small things but I feel that the safety of my family and I has been at risk and the best I could get is a truck that locks back up the next day. Do better Dodge this is embarrassing.
I have already stated before about our exhaust filter issues (PDF). Thats been a journey. The truck still does not regenerate. Now, I wanted to note how dirty Chrysler plays their role. We were in a gravel drive to discover we needed our 4 wheel drive because they had some good gravel in drive. For us to discover the transfer case was out. Our 2015 5500 truck stayed in the shop for 31 days. I asked for a little help on downtime and Chrysler fights that they even go into my fb page to copy pics and any sayings I had posted to go up against me. Ok, now, were dealing with a shortage in the truck. And also at night LOTS of dampness and moisture gets in the truck. Our things inside even gets wet. We get sick. If you purchase a Dodge vehicle you are stuck with all issues. We never was offered extended warranty. I realize that and Chrysler turned us down. Said it was too late cause we had 65,000 miles on it. You know why they denied extended warranty? Because they know they sold us a lemon. And must I add... They go out of no way to make anything right. We also had problems with the hogshead leaking. That put us out of work for a while also. The transfer case was not replaced the front end. They just replaced gears. Which means later, all the metal that was grinder is going to cause more problems.
I love my truck. Ive always been a Dodge person mainly because of their sleek design, roomy interior and safety features. Love the way it handles on and off the road. Mine is an extended cab and has plenty of leg room. Its a great all around truck. Its got the horsepower to get any job done and big enough for the whole family. The suspension on my year model wasnt too great but the manufacturer has really improved it in the newer models over the years.
My 2008 Dodge Ram 1500s motor blew up on Aug 6. This particular model is not covered past three years/36,000 miles. I bought it used and the first owner didnt buy the extended warranty. I contacted Chrysler directly, case number 21213374, in order to find out if they would assist me in some way since a three-year-old motor should not blow up. Aug 8 was my initial call and I have called my caseworker Natasha every day and left messages in order to find a resolution. She has not yet returned my calls despite my plea for immediate assistance and I am without a vehicle and insurance will not provide a loaner. Considering the automotive industry is lagging considerably, wouldnt customer service be a top priority? No loyalty to repeat owners (I have had six Chrysler autos) and complete indifference to people in need of help.
The Ram 2500 Alpine radio is great! Way better than the GMC boise system (no highs no lows must be Boise) you heard the saying. Also power and towing are great on the Ram. I have 60,000 miles now and I am wondering why I bought the lifetime warranty. The only thing that has happened is I bought a Dcx tuner from a company online and it locked up the ecm and had to buy a new one because they knew I tried to install it and that obviously would not be covered under warranty. When I get oil changes we laugh about it now. I also like the seats, dash, the way the Taylor hooks up makes sense not like the GM who does not think about the ergonomic when they build a truck. Theirs is more like a car a crapy car. Also the GM is so quiet that I almost got t-boned by a ambulance. The suspension is so loose it feels like you can flip over if you turned hard. Its just not a real truck. Now Im not saying I dont like frills. My Ram has heated and cooled seats, front and back sunroof, all the frills the GM has and they work better. The GM people are rude, slick like an old TV car salesman. The Ram dealerships are normal regular people. Ram 5 stars, GM 0. Mad GM took the bailout your money you pay out of your check every week not tax money, your money.
First I bought a brand new 2013 ram crew cab express. Problems with radio going out losing the screen then coming back. Also had problems with power locks the cause a pinched wiring harness. The dealership changed the radio twice, still had problems. So I turned in the truck with 3000 miles and upgraded to a 2014 ram. Thought that was better, no. The radio cuts out all the time and I only have 500 miles on new truck. The dealer has installed new software but after a couple days, the radio still cuts out, so they ordered me a new radio. Here we go again. I wish dodge would come up with an aftermarket radio that works, too much technology if you ask me. That is my gripe.
On 2/22/12, I took my 06 Dodge Ram 1500 to the Jeff Wyler Chrysler/Jeep Dealership at 100 Alexandria Pike, in Ft. Thomas, KY in response to not one but two recall announcements. After the dealership repaired the turn signal malfunction, I received a call telling me the lug nuts bloated and not easily coming off. I was then informed it would cost me $159.60 for new lug nuts and replacing. In view of the fact, I was there in response to a Chrysler recall to replace a hub bearing which required removing the wheels. It amazes me the dealer doesnt have a lug wrench to remove the original lug nuts. I discussed this with the service manager to see if this was an unusual occasion. The response was a yes. At that point, I began to suspect this is one of those dealer scam occurrences. I called the Chrysler Dodge Ram Case Management Group in Detroit. After playing telephone tag with a Leslee for week to finally get her to understand which Jeff Wyler dealership in KY and OH I had dealt with, she was very unsure of the next steps. I asked to speak to a manager. I talked to a man who was totally unfamiliar with the case and immediately took the corporate position that the lug nuts are out of warranty. I found that apprehensible. If Chrysler cant make a lug nut that lasts longer than one year, Im not surprised the American auto industry is in big trouble. A very discourteous woman got on the line and echoed the same thing. Just so you know, I currently own two Chrysler products. I also leased a Chrysler 300C about 4 years ago. In net, I have owned three Chrysler products in the past 4 years and was in fact looking at Jeep SUVs at that dealer for my wife. In conclusion, I am very angry about being ripped off by a dealer who doesnt own a usable lug wrench. Even more so, Im angry at a company like Chrysler that is so shortsighted you are willing to lose significant future business rather than correct what I believe is a very poor customer service decision. Unless I receive a full refund of $159.60, I will soon divest myself from the Dodge Stratus and the Ram 1500.
2011 Dodge Ram 1500 - Gas pedal stuck while driving! Almost hit 3 cars and before it stopped!!! We are on vacation in Myrtle Beach SC. 7 hrs from home! Just read where other people had same problem. We need someone to pay attention!! There is a problem w/ these vehicles, which are high performance w a he I and can easily kill someone!!
For the past two months, my truck has been in and out of three different dealerships. The truck stalls randomly. When it does, I lose steering and brakes. I have paid over $2000.00 in repairs and now the dealership wants another $1000.00 and said it might not fix the problem. Chrysler has been notified because the truck went into a ditch because of the steering and brakes went out when it stalled. The mechanic also notified Chrysler because they couldnt figure out what the problem is. Today Chrysler told me that there is nothing they will do and the only thing I can do is pay or trade/sell the truck because it is an 03 with 107000 miles. I have owned the truck for one year and three months. I understand that it is used and there is no warranty but when three dealerships and Chrysler techs cant figure out the problem, I think Chrysler should do more than what they are. I think that this is a very big safety issue and they would want to make sure that it was taken care of but it seems as if their only concern is for me to pay more money.
Absolutely love my 2015 Ram1500. Diesel engine has great performance and economy. Not one complaint. Electronics and interior finish is first rate. I did find two insignificant paint flaws that cannot be seen unless you are lying on the ground.
I own a 2006 Dodge Ram 5.9l, I bought it new. 2yrs ago the truck wouldnt start. Took it to the dealer and was told the fuel was contaminated and the entire fuel system needed to be replaced. It wasnt under warranty due to the reasoning and they filed against my insurance for the $13,000.00 of repairs. Now 2 more years have gone by since then and we now have the same issue, again. This time $13,000.00 out of my pocket. After looking into it and researching...Bosch told Dodge the injectors and CP3 injection pump cannot handle trash in the fuel and that dodge needed to update their filter to a lower micron (2 micron filter), which they didnt and the consumers are out thousands of dollars. Im quite surprise there isnt a class action suit for this one yet.
Car stopped running at 65 miles an hour. Engine seized due to slushy oil from over heating. Called dodge since I read a lot of complaints of this on the internet. Nothing was done.
My 2019 Ram 1500 extended cab pickup truck has been a very good vehicle. The overall value Im very happy with. The warranty is on par with the rest of the industry. The power is great and the ride is very comfortable.
My engine started stalling 2 to 3 times in the morning about six months ago. I took it to 3 different Dodge dealerships and they have not been able to identify the problem. I am concerned about safety for me and other drivers on the road. I am a disabled veteran and my wheelchair is transported in the bed of the truck. Has anyone else had this stalling problem and was it fixed?
I purchased a new 2013 Ram 3500 Dually Longhorn. I currently have 83,000 miles on the truck. I have towed my 21000LB 5th wheel camper 17,000 miles. I am very impressed with the quality and the capabilities of this truck, I have had two issues with the truck thus far, a def injection/DPF exhaust part failure, and, a seized water pump. Both times the dealer service was quite good. I would buy another one. I just sold my 2001 Ram Cummins 2500 with 307,000 miles. It was an excellent truck. I replaced it with a 2017 Ram 1500 Longhorn. I hope it does as well. So far so good, I love the Ram boxes and the cargo management system.
Love the powerful engine, but not worth the headaches. Tons of recalls... 3 in the last week!!! Brought truck in for its first tire rotation and the mechanic asked if I had been in an accident as the entire truck bed is nearly 2” out of alignment (shifted to the left) with the front cab! Radio, navigation system, AND hands-free phone system all started to glitch at 48, 000 miles. Would cost over $700 to replace. The body looks beautiful, but dents much easier than ANY of my trucks... I’ve owned GMC and FORD prior to purchasing my RAM. Very frustrated with all the service issues and not having a navigation system that was quite pricey!
On my 5th dodge vehicle. Never had any problems with any of them. I have a 2014 dodge ram crew 4 by 4 big horn hemi now just hit 10k miles. Good mpg for a big motor. Can even feel the 4000 pound being pulled by it. Great in the snow. Great truck and I still can do the regular maintenance myself.
Took trip to Calgary. Needed fuel filters. Tried to get service on a Saturday. Couldnt get service. Here are some of the things I was told. Bear in mind this is a NEW DODGE DIESEL (OWNED LESS THAN A YEAR): This is our busy season so you will need to book after Wed. We dont have a mechanic in on Saturdays and one of the filters is tricky. It will leak if not done properly. Try Mr Lube. Mr Lube says too new a vehicle, we dont stock these filters (also remember I was told one filter is tricky so why would a dealership suggest Mr Lube). Sorry, we dont have these filters in stock.
I purchased my Ram 1500 on May 4th 2015. It is a 2014. It had 3500 miles on it when I purchased it. When I asked the salesman why his reply was they had to drive it here. I bought right into that. But with all that aside I paid $32,000.00 cash and after driving it for a month I wanted to add rear view camera and GPS. I was told that I could and a step side so I took it in to have it done at the tune of$2100.00. No problem. Then I was called to be informed that they could not install GPS. I am very disappointed. I really needed it installed. I have the 500 series radio. Can you help me? I love my truck.
I just wanted to say I am disappointed with the rear coil spring suspension on my 2012 Dodge 1500. I have an enclosed trailer that weighs 2,800lbs and may have around 1,000lbs in it. The rear of the truck drops down drastically. I know the coil spring suspension gives it a better ride, but it ruined the carrying capacity. The fuel mileage has gone from 17.5 to 15.5 in the past week and I have not pulled anything or changed where I purchased the fuel or the grade of fuel. Maybe that will improve over time. Now I just have a truck that I really cannot use to its full potential.
1999 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel is now 20 years old and no engine issues but have replaced low pressure fuel pump due to factory issue. Steering is a little loose due movement of steering box so installed a stabilizing bar and much better but it is another factory issue.
My 16 month old son, Odin, and my 3 year old Thor had just been buckled into their seats. I just plugged in my phone as my battery died sending a text that I would meet in a few minutes... for the catfish festival! I backed out, started driving and poof! My airbags exploded!!! I drove off the road and into my neighbors driveway without ever hitting the breaks. Next thing I know, my face, shoulder and arm are burned from the airbags, and my kids are screaming. My neighbors all come out, one saw the whole thing, and asked what happened. I am sure I sounded like crazy lady with..I have no idea. But, I really didnt know why one minute I was fine. And the next I had airbags and a crash. 1 week later I got the recall in the mail for the airbags. I still have not received the recall for temporary loss of vehicle control. Ram has not responded to my report of the recall, its been a week and I have called EVERY day to see when I get to talk to someone. I walked into local Ram dealer and asked for the local Chrysler rep-Scott ** - I cant get his number nor will they give me his email or even a mailing address for a lawsuit letter! My GEICO rep wants to part out my totaled truck without looking into the recall. I am told by 3 GEICO adjusters, they are not going to download the box... the magic box that will confirm my airbags, and if I want to persist i.e. It I can. Wow. Where is the class action? My attorney said since me and my kids werent racking up thousands of medical bills (we were only going 15 mph) it is not worth taking on. I am now out 10,000 to get my same truck this year. I am changing insurance, to say the least, and want to sue Chrysler... but have no address for my lawyer to send a letter to! Anyone else have this problem??? My uncle owned a Chrysler dealership for 30 years (retired for last 15) and has never heard of such negligence by Ram. He is embarrassed to have been their rep/dealer.
Own 2012 Dodge Ram with only 30k miles. Heater core went bad and will cost $800-$1100 to repair. Called Dodge and they will not pay any portion of the repair due to Age of truck. Explained truck looks like new with extremely low mileage (average mileage for a year is 12-15k miles) and would do absolutely nothing!! Done with this company. Will be sure to let people know and will post on social media as well. Poor customer service!!!
2004 Dodge Ram 270000 recalls on pinion nut falling out of rear end. Mine did, I almost had a horrible accident with my daughter in the car. But guess what mine just happens to not be on the list. WOW
I purchased my Rubicon in March 2014, spent $61 000.00 and was incredibly excited. By November of 2014, I was already having balance issues and a ridiculous speed wobble. Took it in to two different locations in Edmonton and they told me it was fine and nothing was wrong. March 2015, I couldnt drive my jeep any longer. The wobble was so bad I couldnt hold on to the steering wheel and wasnt able to control it.I take it back to Dodge and they told me theyre surprised it hasnt fallen apart. All 4 Fox shocks had to be replaced (only highway driven and 40 000 on) away bar and track bars as well. Then they told me this was REGULAR maintenance. Are you kidding me? It was in the shop for 3 months because they kept ordering the wrong parts. When I got it back they had some reason messed with the steering and the steering wheel was on crooked... Then they told me it wasnt them who did that... They were the last knee to touch my jeep and the steering was fine prior. Now I just took it back today as the abs and traction control lights were on. They told me my brake line was close to breaking so to be careful driving until they could order me one, and that my sensors were gone in my front end. $600 later for labour... I pay and drive away. I make it 1 km down the service road and am driving about 30 km an hour and my abs light starts flashing off and on and my entire jeep locks up and I stop in the middle of the road. This ends my story because I turned around and took it right back, furious!!! They dont know whats wrong with it now and I ended up leaving it there. This Jeep is going to suck all my money dry. Worst decision ever to buy this thing and I barely even drive it!
The Dodge Ram of the Chrysler cars and trucks have performed in fuel economy better then any other brand and I have the proof. I have had tried most of the cars and I know that dodge products are better.
I bought a new Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 on 03/26/2012. The warranty has run out. The truck currently has about 60k + miles on it. The truck started making a whining noise from the rear end. I brought it to my local Dodge dealer to get it looked at. Turns out its the rear end pinion bearing that went bad. The mechanic told me that I might be in luck and that there might be a recall on this rear end. He did some research and found out my VIN number did not match the recall. The repair that the recall calls for is the same repair they did on my truck. The pinion bearing they took out of the truck was trashed due to lack of proper lubrication, the reason for the recall. I called the RAM customer assistance office and received no assistance with this repair. This lack of lubrication condition could cause the pinion bearing to seize and cause a loss of vehicle control and or cause a crash without warning. The last sentence was pulled directly from the recall advisory that for some reason does not include my truck yet the problem I had is just like the recall. RAM really needs to get this checked out before someone is injured. If you own a 2012 Ram 1500 get it checked out. Safety Recall K36.
I purchased a new 2015 RAM 3500 Dually with the 30,000 lb tow package for my business. The dealer convinced me to buy the factory extended warranty for $4,500. It was supposed to be a 4 year, unlimited Mile warranty. Between the time I purchased the truck and October 2016, I had already 3 warranty claims covered in the truck. Then in December of 2016, after av$900 tow bill, an authorized dealer informed me that my truck had a hole in the piston and cylinder wall #5 was scarred up so bad that the engine was junk. That it would be $23,840 to get my truck on the road.A Chrysler inspector came out and not only denied my warranty claim, but voided the warranty saying they had already paid out a lot of money on my truck and that they would not pay out anymore. That because I used my truck for commercial use my claim was being denied. I bought a work truck and used it for work. I battled with them and got nowhere. Then the dealer battled with them and told me yesterday that they were 90% sure that Chrysler would pay out one last time and fix my truck. Then today, the dealer said that Chrysler would not help me at all, case closed, that they will fight me in court if I get a lawyer. The manager of the dealership said he had never seen Chrysler treat somebody like this in his 18 years there.
Took my 2012 ram 3500 Dually in for service.. Repair front hubs, bearings, front steering stabilizer, and 4-wheel drive transfer case, alignment... Also to fix the warning lights that keep coming on (Service 4-wheel drive, ABS light and brake light).. Ok so got all this done at Arrigo Dodge in West Palm Beach.. They had the truck for 12 days... Got it back and transfer case making a binding noise, lights are still on, and front end now pulls to the right... Take it back to them and they have it another week.. Pick it up and the lights come on again.. Ok so now I tell the service guy I need to drive to Colorado 1800 miles. Is the truck safe? He said Yes dont worry about the warning lights. Just have it looked at when you get there. If they stay on... Well Im not a mechanic so I drive it there not realizing that the ABS brakes dont work when those lights are on.. And Im pulling a 24-ft trailer... So I get to Florida take it to the Dodge dealer to get it checked out. The dealer checked out the truck... Come to find out the alignment was done wrong which wore the 2 front tires to the core and they put the wrong chain in the transfer case and used the wrong sealant in the transfer case.. The Dodge dealer in FL was contacted by the Dodge dealer in Colorado and this was brought to their attention. And the spec sheets and repair diagnostic was given to the dealer who incorrectly did the work the first time (Arrigo Dodge WPB). The Colorado Dodge dealer said that the dealer who fixed the truck originally should pay for the repairs.. I contacted them several times even speaking to the owner of the Dodge dealer, getting nowhere.. Now Im out 1500 dollars and that is not right.. Let alone I put my family in danger since the Colorado Dodge dealer said there could have been a bad accident due to the repairs.. I think that the original dealer should be liable for the repairs cost... Thats why we take our truck to the dealership to get worked on by certified mechanic.. To be safe and right... Again Im not a mechanic... Thank God nobody got serious hurt on the road... That would be a law suit waiting to happen...
Buyer beware of any newer, 2013+, Dodge with a Cummins Diesel and its emissions system. You will be constantly plagued with See Dealer, Service DEF System errors. When the trucks run they are great, but good luck keeping them running reliably. You can put good Blue DEF in 100% of the time, run them well to ensure they get a periodic regen, and still have endless issues. To top it off, they drop you into limp mode in no time at all, so good luck if youre on a long road trip; expect a huge tow bill. In all, stay away from any of these trucks that have DEF systems unless you wish to waste time and give away your money to a bottomless pit.
I purchased a 2017 Ram 3500 crew cab dually Laramie edition for my hauling business. Within the first week I was at the dealer with a complaint about wind noise coming through the back cab. They sent me to their glass department where I was told the back window wasn’t properly set from the factory. They said they have seen this before and the only way to fix it was they remove the back window and replace it. Being that the truck was only a week old I was extremely hesitant but agreed to the repair. Two weeks later I was back with the same problem and now when it rained water would come in and drop down the rear seat. I took it to another Ram dealer and this time was told after several test drives with their body technicians that the seams on the back of the cab were not formed together correctly and that’s where the wind noise was coming from not the rear window. Their solution for the repair was to remove the bed, fix the seams, repaint the back cab and then reinstall the bed. They would also take out the rear window once again and try and reseal it. I declined the repair and will be trading my brand new 68k truck in for a different brand. I have called Ram advanced support team and they have refused to take the truck back and give me another one. They said I must go through the repair process before they will discuss any further options.
2015 Ram 1500 Ecodiesel - Last fall our ECO was put in shop due to it violently shaking and losing all power. The dealership told me my fuel system imploded due to bad fuel. Had the station tested where I last received fuel... No infractions found so $6,500 later the entire fuel system was replaced. This was with less than 20,000 miles on truck. Yesterday with 30,763 miles it caught fire and is Totalled! Im sure they will blame it on something they think we did but I will never ever own another Ram Ecodiesel! Im so disappointed! So many people having issues with these Ecodiesel yet Chrysler isnt stepping up!
I first had a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 Outdoorsman. It ran fine until 2013 when it would suddenly stop while driving and start up again on its own. Not being able to accelerate from an intersection because it decided to stop and restart with a semi-truck coming is a bit scary. After several trips to the dealership where it was bought and no solution, I traded the vehicle in on a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 Big Horn Diesel. Guess what? This truck does the same thing only more often. Of course, the dealership has no answer to the problem except that I must be driving with my foot on the brake, WRONG. What an experience to be going down the road pulling a racecar trailer and having the truck do its stop and start thing. Intersections are even more exciting. Come on Chrysler, how about getting things right before someone (including me) gets killed. Oh yes, the truck stopped and started 3 times within a 10 mile radius from our home to the local store yesterday. Now I have another piece of junk that I am paying the bank for and do not know how long it will be before it ever gets fixed or completely goes to H---. Since the 2011 had a Hemi and the 2014 has the new diesel engine, think it must be something else besides the engines???
3rd Brake light gasket - A problem that a lot of previous owners have experience. You would think that Ram would have address this problem years ago. These gaskets shouldn’t be falling this soon! This was my first experience with a Ram truck and it will be my last.
Brand new (
We had just purchased a 2012 Ram 3500 Laramie truck in January 2013. Since purchasing this truck, we have had the navigation system think it was in the USA as a default and system was reset in Feb. and had further issues with roads missing and thinking the default was again USA which was reset again in April. We were on a trip in Aug. and the navigation then would not recognize anything other than major interstates, including lakes or rivers... Everything seemed to be gone. Roads that were there for 50 years missing. That trip took me almost 4 hrs out of the way because it did not know the roads or see them. We had just returned the truck again for the third time with similar issues with Nav to Courtesy Chrysler Calgary, the dealer we purchased the truck from, and this time told they could not do anything as the system had all the latest updates and we need to go online to Navtech and tell them our problems and they may provide answers to our issues. This is basically dumping us, the owner, with the problem with a $4000 Navigation system that will not function properly and us to try to resolve. This truck only has 18,000 KM on it. Funny thing, I was about to purchase another truck or SUV this weekend and it will not be a Chrysler product and when my 2009 Chrysler 300C is ready to go, it will not be replaced by a Chrysler product because of the poor customer service I had to experience with this truck. By the way, I called the Chrysler hot line only to be told they could not help... LOL. I purchase a new vehicle roughly every two to four years times two... Lots of money losses for someone not to mention my 5 kids asking me what to buy or any people we know...and we know more than one.
I purchased two 2016 Dodge Ram 3500 in 2017. Had one only a few months and had to have it lined up and dealership had to replace one front tire. Second truck the dealership paid to get it lined up a month after we purchased it. We had it lined up again 6 months later. So now this truck has the two front tires wearing out on the outer thread at about 20,000 miles and 5 months after the last line up. The first truck we purchased has 26,000 miles on it and the front passenger tire (the one replaced a yr ago is wearing out on the outer edge as well. Dealership does not know why this is happening. They say because we did not rotate the tires every 5000 miles (we would have to do this in between oil changes). Then they said it was because we drive around too many curves. (What the heck.) They want to put these tires on the back inside duels so DOT can ding us on bald tires. They said the back tires are worn a little because of over inflation and we never put air in them since we purchased the truck. They cannot tell us why the tires on these trucks are wearing so now we have to purchase new tires every 20,000 miles or less?? Oh and the first truck has to have ball joints replaced. They do not want to do anything to help and they said the Big Wigs at Dodge says they have no reason to believe that there has been enough issues with these trucks to warrant them doing anything about it. GOOD old USA auto manufacturers. I thought our Ford trucks were a headache but these suck.
New 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 Series ST 4Dr. 4x4 purchased at Crowfoot Dodge on April 15, 2013. They did not offer or have available a truck canopy to fit the truck box so I contacted Auto Truck Depot in Calgary to order a canopy for this truck box. They attempted to install the canopy on May 8, 2013 and discovered the truck box was installed at the factory by the manufacturer crooked. The defect is very visible looking down the passenger side from the rear when it meets the truck cab. It is even but looking down the drivers side from the rear when it meets the truck cab, it is 1 1/4 inside of the truck cab. The space between the truck cab and the truck box is 1 1/4 different from the drivers side to the passenger side. I returned the vehicle to Crowfoot Dodge on May 8 for the truck box to be loosened and squared to the truck cab but this made no difference at all when they tightened the bolts down. They apparently suggested winching the box straight but I am presently left with this situation and a truck canopy that is prepaid but cannot be installed as it will damage the truck cab due to the improper installation of the truck box by the manufacturer. There must be other trucks with this same problem but unless you are installing a truck canopy, it is not something you would notice or look for.
My 2006 2500 diesel with the 48RE tranny just didnt do the job. I have three valve bodies replaced in less than 75K miles. Also that little vent that shifted the heater and ac broke. Over $500 to repair. I paid for the first repair. Then it happened again. FCA was kind enough to fix again. I guess they finally got a fix that was not crapping out and fixed right.2014 3500 diesel SRW was a great truck. Towed my 40 toy hauler from Virginia to Cali. However, I did lose a water pump in Arizona. Would you believe no pump, belt or other parts that got jacked up when best broke lose, 36K miles, were not available in the ENTIRE state of Arizona? Wow. 2017 3500 dually diesel Aisin is a beast. No issues so far 21K miles. However, the Nexen tires have been replaced. Tire separation in less than 20K miles. Why does Ram put crap tires on a truck that cost up to 90K? Installed Bridgestones. Lets see how they hold up. Changed radio to Kenwood. Android Auto works perfect in this aftermarket radio. It also works perfect in my 2018 A4. Android Auto is a great app to use in any vehicle. Learn how to use it to drive safely.
Dodge Ram 1500 2014 6cyl 4x4 purchased new. I had two problems with this truck. 1. Cruse control didnt work all the time. 2. Driver side electric window and door lock controller had to be replaced. These were the only problems I had. The transmission started acting up. Not shifting smoothly and lagging. This started after 80,000 accumulated miles. On the positive side this truck was a joy to drive. Easy to handle. Tracked straight and true in all weather conditions. Comfortable cabin that was quiet with an excellent stock stereo sound system. The electronics were easy to use, especially the blue tooth phone system. I drove this truck for a total of 5 years.
2015 Ram 2500 Crew 6.7 Cummins. The only problem Ive had is a failure of the left rear tire pressure sensor. Dealer immediately replace not only the failed sensor but the other three. Absolutely no other issues with the truck. Best truck Ive ever owned!
I have a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 that I purchased new. The left front fender paint is bubbling and the steering wheel leather is cracking and coming off. Im taking it in for service its still under warranty. What a shame that a $45000 truck is having these problems. Oh did I mention that the truck is on its second radio. Where is their quality control? Will keep in touch. Cant wait to hear what the dealer has to say.
I have a 2014 Ram 1500 with 65000 miles and having issues with it that Ram doesnt think there is. Bad customer service and poor products.
Ram Country Dodge in Del Rio, TX, I had an appointment for the recall on the 2011 Dodge 3500. I was told it would take 2 hours. I left it at noon, went to pick it up at 6 pm because after several calls, it still wasnt finished mainly because they havent even started on it. Finally, after speaking to the owner, I was told they would have it done in 30 minutes.Several weeks later, the truck died while I was driving it. It was towed to Crenwelge Motors in Fredricksburg, TX where we were told after 5 days of being there, that the recall had never been done and that the fuel pump in the tank was not working. The day the truck was picked up and driven about 45 miles back to Mason, TX, it was still having some sort of problem. So on the 7th of August, it was taken to All American Chrysler in San Angelo, TX. It is still there and we were told that there are 7 errors coming up on the computer. We are not happy at all with the fact that we have a brand new truck and the problems and the runaround we have gotten. Our daughter drives that truck and is in college and needs it. I would like someone to get in touch with me immediately.
Bought my RAM December 2013. First week had water on floors, leak. Bertarra ignored me, said it was winter. Started going to another dealership. They found third brake light leaking. At 30000 miles needed front brakes, still had over half of original pad left. Chrysler corp would not cover premature wear. Now 2000 miles later same problem. Very unhappy with truck. I go out of my way to tell even strangers about my experience. These are not the only issues either... Hemi is week, truck shifts constantly, when in four cylinder mode the truck shudders, wont hold a gear on hills, very poor quality interior... I could go on.
I just bought a new 2016 RAM 1500 Limited, just shy of $60,000. The truck is really a luxurious, roomy, and very comfortable ride all-around. In fact, this is my second RAM as I traded a 2012 Dodge RAM 1500 Big Horn. Today marks one month of ownership and I have only put 225 miles on the truck since taking delivery.Upon getting my new RAM home I started to notice several issues with both exterior and interior finishes that are result of sloppy handling of materials during manufacturing. In addition, my exhaust system was loose and the right rear tailpipe was loose enough to fall off. I notified my dealer and took it in for review of all issues noted. The dealer will be replacing a dash bezel and the leather covered console armrest to remove damaged materials. Then my dealer reviewed the bubble-like fish eye in the paint on the hood. What was so shocking he walked around the truck and pointed out numerous defects in the finish of the paint that I had not found on my own. The more he looked, the more defects he found. It reached a point where I felt really bad about my new truck and really sick about the price I paid for it! The dealer has opened a case on my truck which isnt entirely clear to me what that means.I get home from my visit to my dealer and decide to call RAM customer service to relate all of this and learned something that was not disclosed to me at the point of sale. I was so excited to finally own a vehicle that would give me the ability to navigate Pandora on a big dash screen. Over the past month I have about gone crazy trying to get Pandora to load to the UConnect system only to learn from a rep at RAM customer service that there is no way to make it work as intended due to the loss of a third party technology relationship that is necessary to bring Pandora and UConnect together. What a disappointment!I was told that a notice went out to dealers earlier this year regarding the Pandora issue. However, no one informed me, the consumer, that this luxury feature will never work through the UConnect system. This may have given me pause to move ahead with the purchase. At nearly $60,000, I should not be writing such a negative review of my new truck. All I can do is hope that RAM steps up and backs the product and goes the distance to give me some sense of customer satisfaction. That part remains to be seen.
Bought a demo Dodge Ram 2015 Longhorn Limited EcoDiesel with 2400km on it. On Thanksgiving driving on a HW with my whole family, noticed burning tire smell in cabin, and a smoke behind me. I have just done rustproofing and car was standing outside for 3 days without being used as per recommendation due to drip, but found it weird that the smoke appeared after an hour of driving, did not make sense. As I was pulling over to make sure my tires are not on fire engine shut down without a warning or any type of alarm. I was towing an empty trailer which was soaked with black engine oil and after checking the oil level, there was none in the engine. After towing my truck back to the dealer and diagnostic (500$CAN) was told that they found metal shavings in oil pan, the main crankshaft bearing failed = metal shavings spread, build up pressure that blew rear main seal and due to engine oil loss resulted in catastrophic engine failure. Since in Canada warranty is only to 100000Km and I am at 141000Km, it will not be covered by a warranty, and service manager, after showing me the bill for repairs told me I should of bought an extended warranty (thanks **, for a reliable product that I bought from your dealership). Called Fiat and any one I could think of, seemed that the system is stacked against consumer. Estimate for repair is 19000$CAN plus 26h of labour, plus tax. (oh and they are on a 2 week backorder since they only make 20/week) Towed my car on my own to US dealers who are currently installing my new engine (used cost 6500USD and new 9985$ USD) and labour is 23h to do the job (usually 2 business days or less to deliver new engine). In US it is 100000miles warranty and receptionist assured me that he will look into the warranty for me on his side, not holding my breath, but after dealing with all these issues and not having a car for a month, my trust in Dodge or Fiat products has been diminished. After doing a little googling for this particular issue, a lot of info out there, bottom line there has not been a Canadian/US class action movement yet although quite a bit of engine failures stats for 2017 - 19 Fiat EcoDiesel failures per week in comparison to Cummings 2/week. Not sure where they got their stats but will look into closely. Mine is a 2015 and has even worse rep as per online reviews. Depend on my outcome with America dealer when I pick up my truck with new engine in it (so far customer service has been 100% better). As for Canadian side, I will no longer buy a car there from any dealer due to heavy monopoly, price gouging and a very poor customer service.
2012 Ram 3500. Had this truck 2 1/2 years. Its had the high mount stop light replaced 3xs to correct a water leak. Not confident its fixed, only seems to last a few months. Had radio updated 3xs before replacing to fix the nav system. The major issue is that when I slow or come to a stop I get diesel exhaust fumes coming from the vents. I have complained to the dealer about 4xs about this, they can never find anything. Last trip in last week they smelled the exhaust and replaced the EGR. Picked up truck Saturday, drove it Monday and same issue. Started a case with Chrysler. They called back and asked what is my expected outcome? Really told them take the truck and give me my money back, just dont think they know how to correct the issue and its to the point no one will ride in the truck. This is nasty, not to mention a health hazard. This is my 1st & last Chrysler product Ill ever buy.
Built Ram Tough! Thats a joke. Dont take that Dodge Ram Laramie anywhere off the main highway. 20,000 miles on my 2016 Ram Laramie. I followed the GPS system off the highway on to a road, this road had water cover. This water only became worse so I turned around. Now mind you the water wasnt that deep. But through diagnoses it was somehow determined that it was my fault that water went in to the air intake filter, and then the motor. This ceasing up the motor. Warranty refused to cover this. Insurance claim it was. Do you think Ram would at some point stand behind their product? Ohh... No. I asked at very least they cover the $250.00 deductible. That wasnt going to happen. Customer service actually hung up on me when I asked for a supervisor!! Worst product ever!! Worst customer service ever!! Chrysler will never get another penny of my hard earned money. Lifelong customer gone!!
We bought a new 2013 Dodge Ram a week ago. My hubby was on his way home from work yesterday and he had a blowout. Now Dodge is charging us for the new tire. The truck is a week old. My hubby could have been killed. Very lucky my two year old son wasnt aboard. They are claiming that there is a nail hole in the tire and that’s what caused the blow out. As if passing over $50,000 to them for the truck wasnt enough. Now we are driving around with a 17 inch dummy tire on our brand new truck. She is off level from having 20 inch tires on all besides one. Something needs to be done about this.
Bought a 2015 limited Dodge Ram. This truck has the air suspension. Had it for a couple months and it would not start. The fob would unlock the door and remotely start the truck but would not allow you to push the button to take over from remote start and drive. Finally got it started after approx. 1hr. The next morning took to dealer. Had it three days, replaced fobs. Worked for two weeks, happened again. Had to be towed. It has now been at the dealer for three weeks? They dont know what the problem is. Have replaced fobs again but no luck. Said it is a star case and engineers are working on it. Apparently that would make me feel so much better?I called Chrysler service and got absolutely no help AT ALL. What a joke. I have owned four dodges up till now, all bought new. Think this will be my last one. When I had the truck towed it took them four hours to get here. They gave me a rental to drive. Its a Ram, six cylinder that would not pull a trailer and does not even have a hitch. I spent over 50K on a truck and they give me a 20K replacement. What a joke!!! Has anyone else experienced this problem?
On 7/15/13, I purchased a Dodge Ram truck from Smolich Motors in Bend. I love the Truck but the finance officer wasnt clear and didnt explain all the extra cost he added on to our deal. After examining the paperwork within a month later, I decided to cancel the extended warranty and the service that I was told was free. I then decided to go through my credit union for the finance but they had to wait for the extended warranty to go through the other bank and be refunded first. 90 days later they finally refunded the $2,200. Then the service contract I was told would come directly to me and wouldnt have to go through the bank sense it was through the dealership and it would only take two to three weeks. Well that was back in October and now we are in to December and I still dont have the refund for the service which I never wanted and never used. The last time I checked they told me it had to go through the bank and the bank would send it back to me. I checked with the Bank and they had not received it. So now we have my money in limbo somewhere and nobody will do anything about it. ** at the dealership has treated me like He doesnt have the time for me and Im unimportant. His excuse for all the mix up was the right hand doesnt know what the left hand is doing. I found him rude and very unprofessional. I dont enjoy being treated with disrespect. I will never deal with that dealership again. Just would like to get the refund they owe me.
I purchased new two 3500 Diesel. One 2004 the other 2007. They both have had major issues with the front end. The infamous Death Wobble on both trucks began occurring around 40K. The 2007 was my wifes until it started the wobble. The drag link in the 07 broke clean on two different occasions. The first time was the night of my first childs wedding night. Went to back the truck up so we could load gifts and heard a loud Bang. The drag link sheared at the threads. I purchased a new link from NAPA and paid for their most heavy duty, lifetime warranty. Took the truck to an alignment shop and had it aligned and inspected (Ball joints, u-joints, etc.). A month later while driving at 80 mph on the Interstate I crossed over a bridge with a slight bump and the truck began wobbling and then bang!!. Wobbling stopped but I knew what had happened and coasted to the emergency lane applying the emergency (rear) brakes. When the truck was almost at a stop I pressed on the front brakes and the truck skidded. I got out and the driver side wheel was 90 degrees pointing out. The irony is I was on my way to a local dealer for a recall on the front ball joint. I had the truck towed to the dealer. They inspected the Ball Joint, said it was fine and then gave me a 6 line item list on what was wrong and needed to be fixed. $5500.00 estimate. I told the service writer to leave the truck alone and I would have it towed to a service facility that I trust. I replaced the Drag Link again, took the pile of ** to have it aligned again. The alignment owner told me to replace the front stabilizer shock and use Monroe brand instead of the Super Heavy Duty rock-n roll brands. They had had the best luck with Monroe. For the next three years I could only drive safely at top speed of 60 mph if I wanted to avoid the Death Wobble and possibly break another link. I will not let anyone else drive the thing for their safety. I put a more heavy duty tracking bar and an aftermarket stabilizer bracket on it. Still could only go 60 mph and feel safe. A few months ago I replaced the front hub assemblies and U-Joints.By doing so the truck feels like it did when I purchased it new. Now I can go 80 mph plus and feel safe. Regarding the 04, the front stabilizer tie rod broke and the truck doesnt Death Wobble any longer. Im tempted to leave the thing broken. Once a Dodge... Always a Dodge. Ill never buy Dodge again. Most DANGEROUS vehicles Ive ever owned!!! Im thinking the new Nissan with Cummins and Allison Tranny looks Real Good.
Purchased this truck new in November 2018. Brought it into dealer for their recall V06 possible loss of steering control. 7040 miles on it. Dealership performed factory mandated correction of welding the jam nuts in place on the draglink assembly. When I requested the drag link components be replaced with whatever the new trucks coming off the line have, they said their hands were tied by the factory to just weld the adjustment solid. This makes it necessary to grind off the welds for any adjustment in the future, and then re-weld them. This is not acceptable to me.No one with Chrysler will say how many times this potential cut the welds and re-weld process could be done. No one at Chrysler seems to know if the new trucks coming off their line have the assembly jam nuts welded. No one at Chrysler seems to care about the fact that I now own this truck with a diminished value as a result of this band aid fix, that is no longer adjustable. It is not what I purchased when new and I think it should be repaired to Like New condition. I have been told that they are not doing anything further and I am just going to have to accept their fix. I feel I have exhausted any further action with the Ram case management division as they have indicated they have no one with any more authority to consider this problem. Told them I will not be buying any Chrysler products again and got the impression they really dont care.
I have had Dodge before. They are very reliable vehicles. I love their spacious interior and the custom looks of each vehicle. They have a smooth ride and my 1st vehicle lasted 9 years and I still have it. It looks and runs like new. All one needs to do is keep up with the vehicle and replace changes as needed. I love Chrysler and Dodge. They are the only brand of vehicle Ive purchased and I am happy with their performance and look. Dodge brand has been in the family for years so its a well trusted brand. Family members worked in the Chrysler plants for years and years so we stay loyal to this brand.
Well, where do I start. We bought a truck from Kernersville Dodge. It was a $3500.00 Dually and paid cash for the truck. We did this in October and we still do not have the title for this vehicle. We have called the dealer and Chrysler several times and each one has told me that the title was mailed. Then I spoke to a manager and she said, Well, we dont have the title to send you, so she didnt know what the first 3 people were talking about. We think that the dealer had not paid off the truck and they still had a lien on the title. I couldnt tell you. I have never been lied to so much.In the meantime. We have had the truck in there for at least 5 times for the vibration. It has been to 3 dealerships now and still Chrysler doesnt want to make it right. Kernersville tried to balance it and then said nothing was wrong. We fussed and fussed until Chrysler sent us to Nichols in Burlington. They did put 2 ties on the front and it was 2 totally different tires then what was on the truck. And they didnt report even doing that job. We fussed about that and they wouldnt make it right. So, we go back to Chrysler and tell them that we are going to get an attorney and get the truck returned and get our money back. The next day we get a call and they have made us an appointment for Crown Dodge in Greensboro. I take the truck in there and the service advisor says oh yeah we had one just like this when he worked at another dealer and we had to fight and fight Chrysler before they would change the tires and it is back tires that we have the issue with. So, he called yesterday and said that Chrysler wouldnt make the tires good and we would have to fight with them. So, I pick it up again today. The other issue was that we had the radio go out and Kernersville ran a test and said to our face that they would change the radio out. We said okay, expecting them to call when they got it in. And we would AGAIN drive 100 miles round trip to get that done. Well, when the Crown Dodge place called Kernersville Dodge to see if they ordered that radio, the guy said, Oh, we already changed that radio out. We knew was a lie. When my husband had talked to them the week before to check on all of this, they said that they had no record of getting a radio or that they even tested the radio. They would have to do that again. We had the paperwork where they did it. So, did they do the test or not. We know they didnt change it out. So, Crown ran their own test and yes the radio is bad and they ordered another. So, now I have in my possession a 60,000 dollar truck with no title and mix match tires that cant be rotated and a radio that goes on and off on its own. Hmmm, but Kernersville Dodge wont make it right. But they were all fine when I was getting ready to make that check out. Oh, yeah I didnt mention that they put the tag under the wrong weight and it was supposed to be a farm tag and it wasnt. Kernersville Dodge did that and didnt want to make that right either. We were told to pay the taxes on the truck and buy another tag. And guess what? I dont have a title or registration to get a tag. The temporary tag has run out. The worst experience I have ever had with a car dealer. They suck. And what makes me so mad is that they dont care. They really could care less if you are a happy customer or not.
I bought a Dodge Ram 2500 4 by 4 Cummins diesel 2015 model at Carl Gregory of Savannah Ga. I was told they would have my side steps black wheel to wheel for my truck that Friday. They put me off 5 different dates over a 3 week period to end up telling me they couldnt even get them (cost figured in price of truck). I ending up telling them to get them from OReillys auto parts or either Pep Boys and I gave them the part number to both, only to find out later that Mopar does carry the black wheel to wheel Mega Cab side steps. Now after owning it for six weeks my tire pressure sensors have gone out. It is now been the shop four times for a total of over 10 days and has yet to be repaired. The last time Carl Gregory had my truck, they had it for 6 days and did not do anything. They had told me it needed a module but after 6 days still do not have it put in. Now I have taken it to a new dealer to see if they can fix it. It has been there one day and they have ordered a sensor to see if they can fix it when there are 4 sensors that are not working. This is my first Dodge and probably my last. I have filed a complaint with Chrysler Corporation customer service....and my back Friday.
I purchased my 2015 Dodge Ram Eco Diesel from a custom build on Dodge website. To date my truck has been in the service shop in excess of over a 100 days. In fact it had to be towed on Thursday due to another problem. Dodge or should I say Chrysler Canada has been zero help. Getting a case manager from Dodge is a complete waste of time. Do NOT buy a Dodge. I rely on my trucks for work as I am in construction - the most unreliable vehicle ever - the service departments are equally terrible especially Harris Dodge. Always multiple visits and they never seem to fix the problems. I am by no means exaggerating by anything other than a Dodge!!!
From day 1 when I drove off the lot I called dealer and said brakes are squeaking and grinding. They said too bad get new brakes, lol. Yep seriously brand new van. So I have taken it for a weekly oil change for 2 months and said brakes are bad and have been told no it is my imagination. So now that the warranty is out they say I need to pay them 500 for new brakes. They are worn to metal on 2 month old van. The coolant leaks. There is a hole in the floor of the van, a mid-weld, the headliner does not meet pastis and is frayed, one recall cant be fixed. No parts and dont know when they will have them. The leaf spring bushings are bad and the van squeaks going down road. So 2 issues are dangerous safety issues. Chrysler will not fix anything. I had a 10 year old Sprinter that I should have kept. This is complete junk and Ram Chrysler has zero customer care. Do not buy one, this may put me out of business. The pic is the hole in floor. Notice you can see the ground outside
I have had problem with this vehicle ever since Ive owned it! It has 52,000 original miles on. The engine oil pan is rotted, heat shields rotted and rubbing on the flywheel, electrical system replaced, rotted body no matter how many times it was repaired! Dodge/C has done nothing to help me But take my money. Purchased extended warranty, nothing covered - fed up! Stopped warranty, after multiple items were being denied, never was treated this way. Now starter 426.00 to replace, 965.00 for engine oil pan replacement, rotted heat shields on motor, trans heat shield rubbing. Dodge refuses to do anything but charge me up the you know what. I bought 4 vehicles from them and they never did one warranty or recall. Totally refused, waited almost 1 year on my jeep recall. Why dont you guys honor your vehicles? Im a disabled emergency worker who you keep taking advantage of!! Fix it!!
We had no problems with our 2015 Dodge ECO DIESEL 1500 Longhorn truck, excellent fuel mileage, everything worked perfect, then when driving on the toll road at 60 mph truck was getting 32 mpg mileage 33,134 and we are not towing anything our ENGINE BLOWS, we had it towed to the nearest Dodge dealer, after removing the engine pan full of metal parts, Dodge would cover it under warranty. We traded it in on a Dodge 5.7 V/8 not happy with fuel mileage. However we feel we can trust this engine to last at least 65,000 miles.
We bought a Ram truck, it is the nicest vehicle we have ever owned. My husband drives it as his main vehicle, but I do drive it too. We have not had any problems with this vehicle, and it is a 2016. But we wish it got better gas mileage, but thats a dream. I do think it cost too much, it was more than our first house. That was a hard pill to swallow. I dont like black interior, this truck has cream colored seats and brown trim, it is beautiful. My husband keeps it washed and vacuumed every week.
Transmission pump went out and was covered by warranty after 2 years. Terrible dealer service, no followup by Dodge after repaired. 3 year old vehicle starting to rust at end of hood, no damage/dings/chips causing issue, just rust bubble starting to form. They say not covered because it hasnt rusted all the way through. Do not have this issue with 2009 mazda 5, 2007 honda accord, etc...
When buying a vehicle normally buy to use not to always to be in the shop for repairs and waiting on parts or recalls. Frustration part is Ram dont care. If they would have developed a good vehicle from the start the EcoDiesel owners would not have this problem. Have tried to get Ram to buy back or supplement rebate on a gas truck with no success. Buyers beware of Rams EcoDiesels. If buying a truck to have at home think twice.
While driving my 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 truck, the ignition shuts down. The truck stalls out and I lose power steering and control. This has happened on several occasions and many times nearly caused an accident. I have spoke with Dodge about this dangerous situation more than once and have taken my vehicle into the local Dodge dealer for repairs. Some of the repairs were performed on a recall status, however this stalling problem has not been addressed and does not show up on the computer; therefore it doesnt exists!! My truck stalled five times yesterday and had to struggle to steer it off the road to prevent a rear-end collision. My wife was with me twice and refuses to ride in this vehicle any longer. I called Dodge yesterday and was on hold for 35 minutes. I finally called a representative not associated with any recalls and expressed my dissatisfaction concerning this matter. I was told there would be a 24 hour time period before a supervisor returned my call. I have not heard as yet. I clearly do not know what to do. I need this vehicle for my work and it has been modified to tow vehicles. I just cant climb in another vehicle and perform my duties. Dodge does not want to admit there is a problem because then it would have to be added to their long list of recalls. I wonder if it will show up on their computers when there is a fatality. Apparently, they have scheduled another appointment at a different dealer to check the truck again. I will have to take time off work and only hope I arrive there safely.
On March 22, 2015 I did my paperwork to lease a Ram 1500. I had been driving it for the last week and ended up driving about 300 miles. I have had some issues with the truck from the radio, to the wheel sensors, to hub bearings, to paint work. I dealt with it for almost a year, and saw it was truck month again. I decided to go in and trade my vehicle and see what If I could get something different. The dealer asked me when I wrecked my truck. Told them I never wrecked my truck. CarFax is showing that on 2/3/14 the vehicle was involved in a front and rear impact accident. Very minor damages reported. So then my investigating skills got the best of me. With the dealers help, I have received the invoice, build date, transportation drop off date, PDI report etc. I found all this stuff about my truck at the beginning of March of 2015. Contacted CarFax and they confirmed that the vehicle was in an accident in Michigan on 2/3/14. So looking at the dealer invoice, it was invoiced on 2/10/14. Accident occurred before the dealer invoice. No dealer trade was involved. Shipped directly to the dealer. The transportation company dropped off the truck on 3/10/14. Exactly one month after the dealer invoice, and there were NO damages to the truck. I have the transportation copy of drop off and signatures on the sheet. The dealership was also able to provide me with the build sheet and it to was in a KZOB status. This was interesting because it has limited definitions on the sheet, but one stuck out was damage. The truck then was Pdid at the dealership on 3/12/14 with 12 miles on it. Then I started looking at the truck and drove it for a week and leased it on 3/22/14. Chrysler customer service told me it was just a scratch on the truck and that is why there is a CarFax incident. I said that there is a scratch on the truck and now its reported to CarFax? What? If it was a scratch wouldnt it have been fixed and sent out? Why would they report it to CarFax? Who is covering what up? Today on 5/11/15, I am getting nowhere with Chrysler/Ram/Fiat. Everyone wants to pass the buck and point fingers to the dealership. Now I am waiting to see if the district manager for Chrysler Great Lakes region can do something. I have had a discussion with him, after learning about the CarFax report, and he said.... it happens with transportation damage. I can understand transportation damage occurring, but you would never think that when buying/leasing a brand new vehicle that it would have already been wrecked. The value of my truck isnt as much as one with a one owner, good serviced, good CarFax vehicle. But it is ok to deceive the dealer and the public/buyer.
Dodge Ram 1500 Ecodiesel defective. R 51 recall from Chrysler. The charge air cooler freezes up on these trucks. Chryslers solution is to put a tarp over your grill when the weather temperature is at a sustained 30 or lower temperature. Thats not an acceptable solution to the problem. Chrysler has no solution to the problem, instead they give you a tarp to put on the grill. Good luck trying to put that on in 30 weather. Do not accept the so-called solution to this problem. Contact a lemon law attorney as they do these cases on a contingency basis. It shouldnt cost you nothing to hire an attorney. I expect the class action suit against the Chrysler idiots.
Def issue. Pump fail, I spend around 2000 dollar and replaced it. After few days engine light came on again and sensor not communicating with gauge. Now mechanic told me that def tank need to be replaced. All mechanics saying that there is lots of problem with Ram 1500 EcoDiesel trucks but why Dodge is not recalling?
I just purchased a 2014 Ram 1500 6 weeks ago with 36,000 miles on it. Every time I stop I feel a jerk, kinda like something is slipping. If it does not do it when I stop it does it when I take off! The Dodge dealer was very unhelpful. Wanting to charge me even though I have a warranty! So Im bringing it where I bought it from. Its a Nissan dealer but I figure its best to go where I purchased it. I traded a Ford truck with 170,000 miles for this truck and never had a driveshaft issue. Im wondering if I should fix this and get rid of it? Does anyone know if I can legally make them take it back? Ive only put 3,000 miles on it, it would not have been that much but I called the Dodge dealer right after I noticed it and they said it was normal, it was the brake assist!!
I purchased a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 in 08. When I went to hook up an RV which had been changed from bumper to bed because it was a 5th wheel, my right tail signal light quit working. I had wiring checked, bulbs and all checked out ok. I took to shop and found that fuse box had shorted out computer. So instead of blowing the fuse it shorted everything out, it was replaced and all worked well. Well, last summer my air conditioner went out. Again instead of just blowing fuse the computer shorted out again. Same shop, same story. I replaced it and all worked well. Now last week my air conditioner failed to cool, it is in the shop and Im hoping the fuse box has not shorted out again. The dealer told me it was a wire harness problem the first time I didnt hear from them the second time. Just wondering if this is a common problem. Paying 600 dollars for a new board is not my idea of a good product. Can someone help me?
Bought a Dodge Ram 1500 new on 3/3/2008. It came with lifetime power train warranty. Today, the trucks engine broke down and Chrysler is nullifying the warranty. Their reasoning is that there was an inspection due at the five-year point and it was not done. My problem is that the first time I heard of this inspection was today.
Purchased the truck brand new off the lot. We’ve had 4 recalls on it and it has barely 6,000 miles on it. Had no idea until after I purchased that they also have the lowest resale value. I found out only by trying to trade it in on another vehicle.
I have ordered a new 2013 Laramie Quad cab 4X4 1500 pickup. There was some confusion in determining what items were standard, etc. So after I ordered it, I wanted to build it on your Ram Trucks site to verify the options, etc. Your site just does not work and to this day, I cannot build the truck I ordered. I became so frustrated that I considered cancelling the order even if I lost my earnest money and purchase a Ford or Chevy. I cannot understand why any management group would allow a sales site to be online that is so terrible and basically does not work property. If I were a shareholder of Chrysler, I would show up at the annual meeting and see if I could get a reasonable response. I am sure as a repeating customer I have no influence.
We have taken our 2015 Ram 3500 Tradesman diesel numerous times to three different dealers to try and find the source of diesel exhaust coming into the cab through the air ducts especially when the heater is on because the air does not recycle. It makes our entire family sick. We are being poisoned by diesel exhaust. Ram claims that no one else has this problem which is obviously a lie. It sounds like Thaddeus of S. Atoms River, NJ has the same problem. We also drove the identical vehicle on the lot and it had the same smell. This is a serious health issue and Ram needs to address it immediately before someone who doesnt have the same sensitivity to smells dies of diesel exhaust poisoning. Look it up on the internet. It is serious. It can cause chest pains up to two days later. Immediate issues include headache, nausea, throat and eye irritation. Please call Dodge Ram and complain if you have a similar problem. Dont let your dealer blow you off. This is serious.
This is my 2nd RAM pickup, I now have about 110,000 miles on it. Most of it is highway miles as I live approximately 50 miles from work. Still runs great, the ride is still enjoyable and my gas mileage hasnt dropped off at all. Other than some bruises and dents she still looks good. Im planning on buying another one sometime in the near future.
I bought A Brand new 2012 Dodge 1500 Ram and had to take it back to the dealer to get a moisture problem fixed, drops of water dripping from the ceiling of the cab. Dealer saw the problem said they fixed it and if it comes back I would get a new truck. The problem was not fixed, there is excess moisture on the dash. Its covered in ice after parking it overnight in winter and they refuse to repair my defective truck or give me a new one. I have never had this problem with any other new vehicle and am being stuck with a defective non-properly sealed truck that I bought new and paid cash for.
We purchased our 2019 Dodge Ram Lone Star on Labor Day of 2018, from All-Star Dodge in Canyon, TX. We live on 3 miles of dirt road, out in the country! The cab of our NEW pickup fills up with dirt every time we go down it! So much it’s suffocating! I’ve taken our truck to All-Star and they took pictures and they sent them into Chrysler, but they said the doors looked completely sealed. Since then I’ve sent MORE pictures and a video to Salvador at All-Star and still nothing is being done!??? My advice, don’t buy one of these, if you’re going to be driving it on dirt roads!! That’s pretty much why we own/buy trucks, because we live on a dirt road!! We own Fords and have owned Chevys and NEVER have we had dirt filling the cab, of our other pickups anytime!! Oh and I’m VERY OCD, about keeping my vehicles clean, at all times and I CAN’T KEEP THIS ONE CLEAN, AT ALL ON THE INSIDE!! We’ve had this truck starting January 1, 2019 goin on 5 months, that being said! I’ve been inhaling all the dirt and continue to, all this time and have been sneezing, coughing and dealing with sinus infections, from this crap! I’m headed back to Amarillo today 12-29-18, so YES I’m going to All-Star Dodge AGAIN & gonna see about getting someone higher up the ladder or having Salvador call someone higher than him!! Sick of this crap!! Oh yes and the trucks under warranty and I’ve already heard that All-Star Dodge will not/do not stand behind their word of, “We will take care of our customers!” So DON’T SHOP THERE!!
I bought this Dodge ram 1500 2014 new and drove it for less than two years before the bumper started rusting, but because I put so many miles on it (40,000) it was not covered under the warranty. The tires needed replacing at around 25,000 miles. Had to replace an airbag sensor for over $500. Had to replace the fuel gauge sensor that is located in the fuel pump in the gas tank, that cost around $350. Had to take it in and have exhaust manifold bolts replace but that was covered under the 100,000 mile manufacturer warranty. They also replaced the right front axle because that was loose with play. Also covered under the warranty luckily. I have it in the shop right now and they believe the camshaft is bad which is covered under the 100,000 mile warranty also. The truck has 92000 miles on it and is 3 years old this month. I have decided I will sell it before it turns 100,000 miles and buy maybe a Tundra or a Chevy but certainly not another Dodge. This was my second and I love my first one but this one drove me over the edge. I will also look for a dealer who seems concerned with my wants and needs. I do have to say I love the look of the Dodge truck. Mine is dark graphite gray with custom rims and its beautiful but I should have purchased stock in their check engine light because it never turns off.
This truck is one of my favorite vehicles. I had zero problems with it and the Hemi engine is awesome. My only complaint was that it got pretty bad gas mileage, and this during 2007 and 2008 when gas was 4 something a gallon in Texas. Great truck, fair to good interior, low payload capacity, but towed a trailer well. Nice sounding and fast.
I bought new a 2008 2500 Dodge Ram work truck with the 6.7L Cummins engine. I pamper this truck. it is almost shameful how lightly I use this machine, but sometimes I need to tow small work trailers while the truck is loaded over short distances. It is a manual shift 6 speed. I now have 45,000 easy miles on it. I am now 1,000 miles into the second clutch on the truck, and (thanks to Crown Dodge in Ventura Ca. and some worn-out ball joints) I am $6,400 poorer! I was told then that 35,000 is all you can expect out of a Dodge clutch. The truck also only gets 12.3 MPG empty on the freeway! Why has this expensive work truck worn out so quickly after so light a work load and low miles? Why do my friends with similar trucks get 20 MPG? I guess I need to try and trade in this truck and buy something that will hold up. I dont think it will be a Ram. Perhaps, the unions could fix my problems!? This is shameful.
My 2013 Dodge 1500 5.7 Hemi has a bad head and has been in the shop for 10 days. Took a week for them to figure out what was wrong. Now I was told that the head is on back order and it my take another 3-4 days before I get my truck back. I ask for a loaner truck so I could pull my boat and they said they could not help me. This would have been a real problem if I was out of town and could not have been able to pull my boat home. I think I will be trading this truck off as soon as I get it back. Poor service at the dealer in the way they handle this problem. I feel they could have put a new motor in my truck by now and here is set without a truck. No more Chrysler products for me.
2003 Ram truck 1500 Crew PU 4x4 Quad - I purchased my Ram new in 2003 and absolutely love this truck. I take very good care of my truck and in return it takes very good care of me. Last week I had a roll over - sideways luckily and walked away without a scratch. This truck is built like a tank. Though the insurance company totaled it, I was offered a fair amount of settlement and intend to fix my baby up. Now, I did hear from several sources in multiple states that Dodges newer trucks are way below the quality level of their older models such as mine. What I cant determine is exactly when (what year) Dodge started messing with a very, very strong, dependable vehicle. So, for you folks that purchased a newer Dodge truck, I regret that you will not be experiencing the wonderful, dependable, strong truck of years ago. Dodge, you messed up and are losing and will continue to lose the large number of faithful Ram customers because you decided to ruin a wonderful product... So, so sad.
Ram 3500 diesel 2014 - 66k for the truck. 4 weeks in the shop to find out it has no power out of the hole. Strap a ratchet strap around the hitch and to a 4 inch tree truck wont do anything. Back over a 8x8 wood block truck wont do it. Pull my fifth wheel horse trailer 15k from a dead stop on a hill you will be backing down.....
I traded my 16 F150 for a 19 Ram 1500 and I didnt look back. The Ram ride is smooth, the acceleration is quick, but not jerky. The 8 speed transmission is a little indecisive when its shifting, but it doesnt make the truck ride any different. I did have an issue with my Google maps showing me in Colorado, but after an update everything is working fine.
The issues with Ram trucks that people are having must be just from these people on here. Regardless of the Chrysler vehicle, whether it be Dodge Journey, Caliber, SRT Charger, Challenger, Magnum, Dakotas, Stratus, (on my second Hemi Ram), I know people that own/have owned all the above-mentioned vehicles, and besides regular maintenance, zero mechanical issues whatsoever. I myself have owned 2 Rams, and again, NO mechanical issues whatsoever. The only issues Ive had has actually been with cosmetic stuff added to the truck by the dealership after delivery from the factory. The side step bumpers and brackets rusted, and the powder coating was peeling off after only 2200 miles. One Rumble Bee sticker on the box had to be replaced as it was starting to bubble. I took the mud flaps off the dealer put on as they were literally flapping in the wind, rubbing the paint. Oh yes, the radio would have a mind of its own, would sometimes stick on maximum volume, wouldnt shut off, couldnt change stations, nothing. And sometimes wouldnt even turn on. Chrysler had to download new software into the radio. Works great now. Guess what, my Dads friends 2016 Honda Civic (yes Honda) had the exact same problem. The dealership had to download new software into the radio. Works great now. (Yes, a Honda Civic.) Anyone Ive known. Family members as well, anyone Ive known who have had Chrysler vehicles have never had any mechanical issues at all. Just regular maintenance.A buddy of mine, his Magnum went 215,000 miles zero problems. Heck, never even replaced the battery. My first Ram truck went 173,000 miles. Except regular maintenance, zero mechanical issues.Broken exhaust manifold bolts was the only what I considered major issue. (Even though the repair was only $378, taxes in, Canadian dollars to boot as Im in Canada) And the place I had the work done, they told me Chrysler AND GM trucks are prone to exhaust manifold bolts breaking. The service manager told me they do probably 1 a week from both GM and Chrysler. My nephew bought a new Ford Fusion. Sooner rather than later he traded it in, guess what, he was having electrical issues with it. And he thought, before it gets any worse, and runs out of warranty, trade it in. My girlfriends 2012 Mazda (yes Mazda), the torque converter quit on her 2x. Leaving her literally stranded, again, yes Mazda. Japanese. I worked with a guy who had a Miata, THE biggest pile of junk he said he had ever owned. Nothing but problems with it. Guess what people, even the Japanese can make crap vehicles.
My overall experience with my 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 Mega Cab is a nightmare! From day one, the truck had a wobble and still does. mind you not this truck was new and now has 30k miles. It has gone through 3 steering boxes, 2 tie-rods, rear end replaced 2 times, 6 radios, windows have scratches all the way down (poor design), u-joints, 5 sets of tires, ball-joints linkage.I havent gotten anywhere, except stress. I suffer from lupus and all this stress is killing me. I am doing lemon law. Chrysler doesnt want to buy it back. Go figure. They dont want it either. (lol) Never again will I buy a Dodge product.
2014 Ram Ecodiesel MPG - Went in for software updates. They also changed the catalytic converter and a sensor that were not listed in the computer as a update. Since this I cannot get over 22 mpg to 23 mpg and before I use to get 28 to 31 mpg. Wasnt VW playing with software to increase MPG???
For some reason my 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 express 8 speed transmission will stay in a high gear at around 30mph and always runs around 1000 rpms. It makes itself sputter and jump gears a lot. Has anyone else have this problem? The dealership told me that all the 15 models do this but shouldnt affect the truck at all. What do you think?
The truck is an excellent version this year. Lots of room and very comfortable. The interior is well designed and easy to operate the instrument panels. The handling of the Ram is a bit tough because of the rear of the truck being so light but Ive added weight by placing blocks in the bed and covering them easily as not to be seen. The price of the truck is a bit costly. With gas prices rising they should bring the price down. Otherwise the performance and durability are worth the money. I would recommend this truck to all. Go and check it out. You will not be disappointed.
I bought the truck used from a Dodge dealership. Used it. Had 58,000 miles on it. I was shocked I got the loan so I planned on keeping the truck for a while. When it hit 102,000 miles (out of nowhere!) I lose the transfer case and the transmission (and I never abused the truck). Actually bought a new transfer case from dodge. Cost me $3,500 and cost me the same for the transmission I had rebuilt. 30,000 miles later the same thing happen to me. I lose both of them. To make a long story short I replaced 3 transmissions and 3 transfer cases.Got the same thing from dodge about transfer case out of warranty. I swear there was a defect in the truck when it was made, I took it to good people not on backyard mechanics. No one to this day could figure out why. I would of placed a suit against dodge for all the money I spent because trucks just dont do that. The truck was never wrecked either. Last winter I put a Jasper trany and Jasper transfer case in it. Had my truck maintained all the time. Last Nov. I had to change everything because it blew out dry shafts muffler pipes. It vibrating and no one can figure it out. WELL I am extremely happy to say I got another loan and I bought me a Ford F250 Super Duty. I will never buy a Dodge Ram ever again. They would have to give it to me for me drive it.
We bought this truck with 4000 miles on it. A demo wrecker. Big, strong, able to handle what we could throw at it. Unfortunately, have had nothing but an issue out of the def system. Hard to keep a wrecker on the road when it keeps flashing the shut down and will not restart in 200 miles message. Finally my husband found the problem. Def fluid crystallizes when air hits it, and each time you add def fluid a small amt of air hits the fluid, so guess what happens. Right. Some of those crystals get in the system, stop up the injector. If you dont believe, check the funnel you use to add def fluid. Crystals you will find. Still has SES light for the system, but at least its not shutting down now. Just a bit disappointed in the product dodge advertised as the truck built especially for the wrecker industry. Wake up Dodge. Wheres your pride in your products? The amt I gave for this truck should make it trouble free for a long, long time.
Sturdy, excellent rig. 4WD doesnt feel like a truck when on the road. Controls easily accessible, easily memorized to keep your eyes on the road. Hemi offers awesome acceleration for passing on 2 lane roads.
I called the dealership about my 2014 Dodge 1500 Outdoorsman with a bunch of problems. It has only 40.000 km on it. I have to pump the brakes. The service advisor said this was normal. Both bumpers are rusting. I was told it is residual rust by the service advisor. The first time and the second time it was due to road sand and was not warrantied. The truck will do random horn honk and door lock at lights or just sitting parked. It wont do it at the dealer so it is my problem. Engine has bad chain and lifter noise after being parked for 3 to 5 days but the service advisor told me this is normal for that type of engine. After a few hours of driving it starts to get a right hub howl but it wont do it at the dealership so it is my problem until it breaks. After driving a few hours on the highways when you slow down for a light you get different cluck. But because it wont do it at the dealership it is my problem until it breaks. I have reported all this to Chrysler Canada but their answer is well if the dealer cant find it or wont do it at the dealership then wont do anything and the rusting bumpers is normal wear due to road conditions. I payed extra for extended warranty even tire warranty. If I hadnt pay the truck off I would have driven it back to the dealership and walked away. They tell me I can come down and trade it one.
