Product Reviews:

We have a 2009 Hyundai Sonata with the 2.4L 4 cyl engine. Engine made a knocking noise then locked up about 3 hours from home. Over time we had some minor issues with the car but we're very happy with it overall. These included an oil leak covered under warranty, broken starter part, not covered, transmission not shifting properly, reprogram of transmission computer covered under warranty, and a broken door handle, not covered. The plastic starter part and door handle are known issues. When the engine locked up we were towed by AAA (wonderful folks!) 3 hours back home. I called the service department and was informed that there was a $101 fee to diagnose the problem. I don't work for free so I don't expect their mechanics to either. I indicated that the car was out of warranty by 2002 miles but asked that if they could do anything for me I would appreciate it. Service writer was polite but didn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling. A sales associate did offer to give us an appraisal of our dead car toward another Hyundai. Fat chance of that happening. When it was all said and done there was no offer of help from Hyundai other than to install a high mileage salvage engine for about 4 thousand dollars. I have taken the repair to a shop who I have done business with for years. I will never purchase a Hyundai of any kind again nor will I suggest the purchase of one.

I recently purchased a Hyundai Elantra 2013 two weeks back. After one week, the navigation system voice stopped working and it does not detect my phone too via bluetooth. There is also some burning smell I get when I drive. I paid almost $30,000 for this car with the high rate of interest and it is a brand new car, which I purchased from the dealership. I feel cheated and hurt as it has been heavy on my pocket and I am not satisfied with the car. I would want it to be replaced with a new good model as I did not pay so much money for a faulty car with parts which were not pretested. The navigation system not working in barely 2 weeks is a big surprise to me. As a customer, I feel the service has been pathetic and I would not recommend Hyundai to my friends and anyone else.

My 2007 Hyundai Entourage at 49,798 miles had to have its pulley replaced at my expense. Obviously the part was defective. The dealer said there was no implied warranty, so I had to pay $279.57 for the labor and part. I never had a pulley replaced on any car I owned. One van had over 250,000 miles on it, and the pulley on it was still good.

I own a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. I can promise you I will never own a Hyundai again. My car has been at the shop 3 1/2 months none of the recalls have been checked. The car still cuts itself off. Hyundai keeps calling and telling me that they fix the issue only for me to go test drive the car and it still Loses power. They keep telling me it’s one thing charging me an arm and a leg And the car continues to lose power. First they told me the engine needed to be cleaned charge me $350. Test drove it still losing power. Then they tell me it’s coil pack number 3 charge me $280 to remove one bolt. Needless to say that still didn't fix the issue. Then they tell me it’s coil pack number 4. Another $280. Guess what the issue still isn’t fixed. They refused to fix my car And want to charge me $910 before they release my car to me. None of the things they told me was wrong with the car fixed the issue. I’ve missed over 30 days of work because we are down to one car. Nearly $4000 between missed work and repairs that never needed to be done. Hyundai is putting me and my family at danger along with other families with their vehicle. I’m guessing until someone gets seriously hurt or dies it’s not their problem.

Hyundai is a good vehicle, great value for the price. I am not a car enthusiast, just want basic functions, ease of use and some comfort. Reliability is number one. I need a vehicle that is easy to get in and out of, perfect for my height, 5ft 7in. Must have ample usable storage, as I am a DIY. Average mpg 34. Freeway average 38 to 40 mpg driving conservatively. I choose Hyundai because I felt that I was getting an okay deal at the local Hyundai dealer, and I wanted to pay cash, limited my choices. Compared to Mazda, Honda, Toyota, Kia, Ford, Hyundai was the best deal for me. However, after three years of ownership, car interior dash and door, plastic rattling everywhere. Irritating, as I don't us radio often, thus noises all the time. Upholstery is itchy and irritating on bare legs.

Watch out for the hidden disposition fee Hyundai Finance charges at the end of a lease if you return the car to a dealer. I leased a new 2011 Elantra and their dealer never mentioned about the disposition fee. When I returned it in June this year, a month later I got a letter from Hyundai Finance charging me $400 + $4.06 taxes. Given the car was in A1 condition (as per the lease end inspection report) and had only 21k miles on it, you'd think they could waive the fee. They do waive the fee if you buy it or re-lease a new car, so why not with a low mileage, A1 condition car. After all, the disposition fee is supposed to cover the dealer's expense in preparing the car for resale. What expense was there in preparation on my ex-lease car? Zero to none! I've asked Hyundai exactly that in a written letter. To date no reply. All they want is the disposition fee. All you hear from them is "it's in the contract" like a broken record. It's the last time I ever lease a car, especially from Hyundai. Stay away from them.

I have a 2005 Hyundai Accent. I bought it from the dealership certified pre-owned in 2005. Halfway through my paying off the vehicle, the transmission went. It had may 60-80k miles on it. I had it replaced through AAMCO, who purchased a brand new part. It lasted a little over 4 years, now it's not even at 150k miles and the transmission has gone again. Hyundai's parts suck! All I can say is never again, Hyundai. Never again will I purchase one of your shoddily-made vehicles.

I am hoping this will help me in some way. In Aug of 2014, I spoke to Hyundai Motor Finance (the company I am having issues with, not the dealership) asking what I need to pay and how I need to pay to get my lease balance paid down so the dealership will buy my Sonata from me. The bank told me to just pay the "X” amount of dollars needed through the website. I do that and the payment hit on Aug. 20th. I go to a dealership, and they tell me a payment was not shown on their end and they will not help me. I called the bank and they said the payment, should not have been processed like that and that they will re-apply it so it reflects at the dealership. Almost 1 month later it was re-applied, on Sept 18th 2014. I go to another dealership, someone met worked at this one, gave me the same exact answer. I call the bank again and once again I get another another answer. I have 3-wayed myself, the bank and several Hyundai Dealership reps (including management) and no answer was the same. The number at the bank wouldn't show up at the dealership. My payment would not show up at the dealerships. The bank reps told the dealership to just pay a certain amount, they would not send the dealership an official notarized invoice saying how much is owed. It was pretty much just ‘take our word for it’ type of deal. Basically another dealership told me they will not go by HMF 'word' because they do not TRUST them and has had issues. How come the Hyundai bank and dealership not work together and have the same financing system is beyond me. The dealership told me to get a refund from the bank and give them the money and they will pay the difference that way. So from the end of September till this day, I have been waiting to get a refund. I have spoken to managers and reps and everyone has ** and have not helped me. I sent $8500 in August and still waiting to get some of it back. I spoke to 4 different managers and was told I would get a call back. No one has ever called me back. I ask them if they see the notes saying for a call back and it is all written there. Either the manager is on lunch or in a meeting. Right! In Oct, I was told a check would ship Oct 4th. I call back Nov 12th asking when it was shipped and they said "Nov 5th and shipped to your current mailing address". I call back Nov 18th asking where this check is and they said "it was shipped yesterday, Nov 17th.” Make it worse they shipped it to my old mailing address!! They apologized for not adding the mailing address. How do they make such a mistake when they ask you for your address at the beginning of each call? I speak to a manager right after that. She told me she would put a stop to the check and get a check over-nighted to me. Ashley the manager promised to call me back that day. Never did. I call back that evening and she's allegedly on Lunch!! Sure. Call back today Nov 19th and every single manager is in the meeting. Guess what, I was supposed to get a call back. NOTHING!! NO CALL BACKS AND NO REFUND!! Top it off, this car was supposed to be turned in Aug before my car insurance was due. I have had to pay for full coverage for 4 months for a car I am not driving.

I have two Sonata 2015, which I have taken in for recalls and both days which has taken a total of five hours and ticking, and I was not impressed with how you come in for these services and you are not forewarned of the waiting time and, they keep bringing you a problem that you say no way. I haven't had this car two years yet. I had work done on one of them on yesterday and by the afternoon, it was running okay before I took it in. Now the front end is shaking. Thinking of taking it to another dealer, and see what they say, and trading it. Too many problems for a car not owned two years yet and hours to fix and no replacement in doing it.

My car (Santa Fe) was in park in my driveway which has a very slight incline and the car was running. I got out of the car, walked around it to get groceries out and went back to the driver's side to turn the car off. I put my right leg on the seat and reached around the steering wheel to grab the keys. The car started rolling backwards. My left leg was already outside the car and I was to get out but the car door knocked me down. The front tire ran over my right knee, my right elbow and arm, and my right wrist. I went to ER and was diagnosed with severe deep tissue contusions of my right leg and left arm right arm, sprained left ankle and right wrist. I watched the tire run over me and I watched the tire pass 4" from my head as it continued to roll down the driveway making a clicking noise, then jump the curb and stop in my neighbors yard (still in park and radio was on, but car not running). I towed the car to HYUNDAI. They said there was nothing wrong.
