Kia Corporation, commonly known as Kia is a South Korean multinational automobile manufacturer headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. It is South Korea's second largest automobile manufacturer after Hyundai Motor Company, with sales of over 2.8 million vehicles in 2019.

The Toyota Prius has long been the car of choice for buyers in search of an affordable hybrid—but it's a segment that the handsome and practical 2020 Kia Niro ought to dominate instead. The Niro has several toes in the crossover pool but maintains a manageable, compact footprint. It's also extremely efficient, managing 52 mpg in the city in its hybrid variant and delivering an EPA-rated 239 miles of electric range in EV form. Is it quick? Not really. The best driver's car on the block? Also no. But with your hard-earned money and perhaps a nagging climate conscience on the line, it's a compelling choice.

Bought brand new 2017 Sportage in April 2017. Sept 25 my wife parked it at 6:45 am at work. At 2 pm the car decided to burst into flames totaling the vehicle. Video shows no one messed with it. Has to be an electrical malfunction that started fire. Anyone else have any issues with this type of vehicle?

The Kia Rio is like a go kart and it bumps every bump. The tires were small and I feel if I was in an accident I would not be safe. The seat absorbed stains I could not get out and the radio broke early on about 30,000 miles. The spark plugs needed to be fixed and even though it had a 100,000 mile guarantee, no one honored it and they were all KIA dealers. I would bring it in when it had problems and they would fix it but they said I had to apply for a reimbursement or they didn't cover it. The dealers were absolute impolite morons. I brought the car twice to them and they danced around the issue and I felt humiliated for taking it back to no avail. Apparently the guarantee cost a lot too. It's 12,000 when the car had 35,000 miles. I was treated so unfair and I wish I could get the 2000 I paid for the guarantee back. What a rip off and for this reason I will not rebuy a KIA. But I gave it a high rating because after my son fixed the cracked spark plug encasement and replaced the plugs it always started up. It even went across country.

Purchased a new 2012 KIA Forte Koup. It now has 20,000 miles and has had 4 new batteries. The car drains the batteries completely and they can't be re charged. Keep having it towed to Kia Dealerships and they tell me they can find nothing wrong with the car. This is a car I purchased for my daughter to take to college and 2 batteries we had to buy because it died on the weekend when no dealer was open. I am so afraid of this car for a young girl to have. She is also afraid to drive it anywhere as she never knows when it will kill the battery. I stay a nervous wreck, as I never know when it will break down. Any suggestions?

KIA (Sorento) has a factory defect, which is not being disclosed at the time of purchase. The gear shift switch assembly has a shift cable that tends to malfunction. I want this to be noted. Should this part defect occur in the future, it will be replaced without cost.

I brought my daughter's ‘14 Sorento to Kia Coral Springs 5/30 for regular service as well as an evaluation of a serious situation relative to the paint peeling off several areas of the car not affected by road stones or anything other than a factory defect. I brought it first to a paint and body shop and was told in 2 minutes to bring it to Kia consumer affairs. It was in his expert opinion, clearly a factory defect issue. There were photos taken at the dealership and passed on to the local Kia representative responsible for evaluating any type of bodywork. I just heard from Kia corporate consumer affairs and because the warranty expired, regardless what caused the problem, it’s the owner's responsibility. I have a friend who had the exact same situation last year with a Nissan product...also expired warranty and also a factory defect causing the paint to peel. They repainted the car and now have a loyal Nissan customer for life.As a result, I will have her car painted and promptly trade it in for anything other than another Kia product. I will share this story of a very short-sighted company with anyone contemplating the purchase of a Kia in the future. The reverse would have been true if this company was more open minded and interested in promoting goodwill. Their fault, but easy way out was turn a blind eye to what’s right and hide behind “their” warranty protection. Kia, one and done!

I spent days at the dealer working with a salesman. I called later on the last night and said I would I would take the car and be in morning to make the purchase. I went and got my bank loan approved and in order to be prepared. He called me and said to come later in afternoon because they were sending him to pick up a car; however, my car was getting serviced and detailed and would be ready for me when he gets back, so there was no need to come down now since he was being sent out of shop for a few hours. I said I can come in right now to take care of my end of paperwork since you just opened. He said later about 3 or 4 would work better, “Don’t worry I have your car being prepped for you and it will be definitely be ready for you and you can take it home right away.” I called a few times while he was taking care of his business and left messages at shop throughout the day. Then I get a phone call at 8:30 pm after I did all my end of paperwork and loan papers and get the loan for this same day purchase that says another salesman sold the car from under him while he was out doing business for the shop. Now the car isn’t there and I was never notified till 8:30 in the evening hours later from the morning I was supposed to get the car. Now the car is not there and I have my loan done—no car and no remorse, or compensation for their wrongdoings. My time and money I put into this by driving back and forth, doing the loans and insurance, research, credit checks and so much more to list right now. They should make good on another car in a big way and fast since I took off of work and holiday to make this transaction. That is not at all good customer satisfaction at all! What will they do to compensate me? And get me in the car, I want today! I have no car as of tomorrow and I am very unhappy with the Kia service and customer satisfaction attempt at this point. Who knows, maybe they will change their ways and surprise me with a make good offer.

2012 Kia Forte - On 6/18/13, I was driving the car and white smoke started coming out of the tailpipe. There were no warning lights or anything. I took it to Kia of Bedford, Cleveland, Ohio and was asked to provide service records because there was sludge in engine and they will not honor warranty. They wanted me to pay $8,000 for a new engine which I will not do. I researched Kia's record and found all over the country complaints of not honoring warranties - Kia of Bedford had 81. When I talked to Kia's Customer Service Manager, Ms. **, she was nasty and unconcerned and offered as goodwill - yeah right - to pay half and I pay half. I will not. I am trading that car in and will not ever, ever purchase a car from Kia.

At 13,300 miles, the manual clutch went out in a 2010 KIA SOUL. KIA won't honor its warranty as the clutch is a "wear and tear" item. I can't imagine any clutch burning out at 13k. My last manual clutch (Jeep) had the factory clutch in it when I traded it in at 89,000 miles with no problems. When I checked online, I found out many people had clutch problems. Many with even less mileage than mine. I also found out that KIA had replaced several of the clutch parts in the following year's models. Apparently, they have realized they have a problem with their clutch. But it still cost me $12,000 to fix it.

I bought my Kia Carens from new 08 reg. I have had problems one after another with it. I have been complaining about the gear stick from almost the year I got the car. I got told it was the clutch that was the problem. I got a new clutch fitted but still got problems with changing the gears. I took it back and again got told it was my clutch. When I said it was a new clutch, I got told it must be fitted wrong, to take it back to the garage that fitted it. I did that and was told it was fitted okay. I took the car to another Kia dealer and they said it was the gear linkage and repaired it. A few days later, it started doing it again.I have told the Kia dealer that the gears are still not changing, that it jams. When trying to change gears, I have to turn off the engine and put it into gear before it will go. I still don't have that fixed. Then about two years ago, I got a noise coming from the engine. I took it back to the garage to get it fixed. It was the turbo that had blew. Three weeks later, I had the same trouble. I took it back again and got told the turbo had blown again, that it must have been a faulty turbo. Last Oct., I was at Aberdeen and the car stopped suddenly on the motorway. I had to get pushed into the side of the road by the police. I called the RAC out. The engine was flooded with oil. I was told that it was one of the fuel injectors that had gone. I had to hire a car to take me back home the next day and the RAC took my car back to Kia a few days later. I had to keep the hired car three weeks till I got mine back again. A new turbo was fitted. It turned out that it was the fuel injector leaking that was blowing the turbo. That was three turbos within a year that was fitted and every time my car is off the road, I have to hire a car as it is a disabled car and my husband was going through chemotherapy and I needed the car to take him to hospital. Now, I have a new problem with the electrics. I was out three weeks ago when my lights went out on the dashboard and the police were behind me and pulled me over. It turned out when the dashboard lights went out, so did my tail lights so I got a slip of paper from the police telling me I had been pulled over and I had 21 days to get the lights fixed. I phoned Kia and booked it in the next morning. I got told it would be Friday, 5 days after I was stopped. That was fine. I took the car in to get it fixed. It was in all morning. I got a call saying it was ready for pick up. I picked it up and was told it wasn't fixed. I had to wait for parts.I got a call later that day telling me it was booked in for Thursday. Last week, I got a call on Wednesday telling me not to take it in; the parts were still not in. I would get a call on Fri. telling me when to take it back to get fixed. I did not get the call. The car still hasn't been fixed and the 21 days the police gave me is up tomorrow. I had to call the police and explain that I am waiting for parts to come for it, and the garage can't stamp the slip till it has been fixed. Now I have to get a letter from Kia telling them that I'm waiting for parts coming in. That's 3 weeks I've been waiting. I can't go out at night because if I touch the switch to indicate the lights go out. It's fine through the day when the lights are off. I will never buy another Kia car. It has been trouble since day one. If anyone asked me how I would rate Kia, I would say keep clear of them.

Cannot put anything in trunk as lid will open when it gets a mind too. l likewise have come out to enter vehicle and it is totally unlocked. This has happened 10-12 time in a year and half and dealerships say they cannot duplicate so I have a vehicle that is basically unsafe and worthless. Car is in now 3rd time after much argument with corp headquarters. They are arrogant, self-serving and totally without merit. Upon researching the web this evening, I find this is far from a one only problem they lied about that also. This company should be banned from selling faulty products and failure to honor their fabulously flawed warranty program. At 72 yrs of age I have never been so disgusted with a company such as this!! STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!
