Product Reviews:

Actually, I've 2 problems with my Verna 2012 car (15,000k) only. The first one is related to the dinamo; it doesn't keep any charge if I left my car for only one day! The second is that sometime when I switch off the contact, it doesn't switch off the car and I should repeat this for 3 or 4 times! This is not the first time to complain to Hyundai. I've a problem before after 5000k, and it is solved after visiting the maintenance center 3 times! This time is the same. Eng. ** from the maintenance center (Egypt, Cairo) sees that the car has no problem at all.

I have a 2002 Sante Fe. It was a recall because the back end rotted. I did not know about this, so I took it to my mechanic because the vehicle was not driving right. He called me to tell me that the back end was rotted. He called Hyundai to see if it would be covered under a warranty. They said it was a recall, so they would take care of it. I had it towed at my expense. I had asked if I could get vehicle on loan and they said they don't do that. It was not my fault that this happened, so why do I have to pay out of my pocket when it was a defect on Hyundai? It is going to cost me around $300 for a rental. This is bad customer service. Please let me know if this is the policy. I am being put out because of a problem that Hyundai caused. I am very upset about this. What can you do for me. Thanks for your time in this matter. I do not want to bad mouth your company for bad customer service.

Since buying this car it has been a horrible experience. Would not recommend Hyundai to anyone. The buying experience at Southtown Hyundai in Edmonton was the worst I have had. When purchasing the vehicle, the dealership was difficult to accept a price offer that worked well for us and them, and in addition did not provide a test drive or viewing of the vehicle I was purchasing even though it was on a different lot nearby. The manager also became rude and aggressive towards my husband and I when we were asking to receive the GoCard promotion. In addition, when picking up my new vehicle it was not completely washed properly and I never got to view it prior to pick up. It was a really bad experience, that I thought would be the end of it. Since having the vehicle it has been into the dealership multiple times as the driver's door does not open after being unlocked in any cold weather. The only way to open the door is to crawl across the passenger seat and open it from the inside in freezing weather, on a brand new car. It has been "fixed" with a new door latch, which did not fix the problem that came back only 2 days after. It has also been "fixed" again with a new lubricant that works in colder temperatures as per Hyundai Canada- which stopped working again after a day. I have now booked it in again for the same issue. Calling Hyundai Warranty does absolutely nothing to fix it either, as they respond that the dealership would need to look at it again if it is still not fixed, and they can not do anything for it. At this point I absolutely hate my "car" that is a new 2020, working like a 1900 pickup truck. I hope that Hyundai can fix it, or provide me some sort of service for the issues involved. But as of right now they have yet to even seem to care.

Approx. 6 weeks ago, the brakes in my 2009 Sonata failed. I brought the car to my mechanic and he replaced the rear brakes. Two weeks later, the same thing happened. I had the front brakes replaced. Again, 2 weeks later, I slid through a red light because the brakes failed yet again. I had the car towed to the nearest Hyundai dealer. They informed me that they found nothing wrong with the brakes until I told them that I would not drive that car. So, they had better look again. Miraculously, 10 minutes later, they found that the caliper was broken and blamed it on the mechanic that replaced my brakes. So now, it was not under warranty. I paid the bill of $413.54 to replace the part. Not quite 2 weeks later, the car was making a very loud screeching sound -- like metal on metal. I had the car towed to the Nemet dealership where I originally purchased the vehicle. The mechanic, Jeff, told me that I needed new back brakes. When I tried to explain the entire situation, he did not want to hear it, and he told me that what happened at the other dealership did not matter, "kind of like McDonalds is a chain of stores owned by different people, so is the Hyundai dealerships".He also informed me that I would be charged $625.00 to replace the back brakes again and if I did not want to pay, I should take the car back to the mechanic that did the brakes originally.I paid for a tow truck to take the car to Nemet, and again, to pick it up from Nemet to be brought to my mechanic. He replaced the left caliper that had already been replaced by Advantage Hyundai! That’s another $221.02 spent! I was livid, so I called Nemet and explained to the salesman what was going on again. He told me to bring the car into his dealership and when I got it back, they would work something out with me. On Saturday, 9/3 I, took the car to the Nemet dealership . Anthony, the salesman and the sales manager tried to put me in a smaller vehicle -- the Hyundai Elantra. I requested another down payment, and they wanted me to sign another 5 year payment plan! They informed me that my warranty had been voided when I took my car to a certified mechanic to have the brakes done and not to a Hyundai dealership. I was not looking to use my car a trade. I wanted to be treated fairly. Two years ago, I paid a down payment on a car that I thought would last me a good long time. Now, I find that this product is not backed by the company that sells it. This is the 3rd Hyundai I have purchased through Nemet.I do want a new vehicle that is comparable to the one I bought, not smaller. I already paid 2 years of a loan. Why should I have to start over when I have only 3 years left on a vehicle that is defective? I don't feel I should have to pay another down payment, or a higher monthly payment and I should not have to pay for more than 3 years!I called the dealership (Nemet) when I returned home and asked for the name of the CEO and was told that the CEO died. And then I requested to speak with the General Manager. She asked what was it in reference to and told me to hold on. She came back on the phone and asked for my name. When I told her who it was, all of a sudden Scott ** was unavailable to speak with me, when I know he was there for a meeting with his sales staff that morning because I had to wait for the sales person! The advertisement reads “our customers are number 1”. Really, when does that apply?

I purchased a used 2012 Hyundai Elantra on 12/27/2012. The car had 14,075 miles when bought. I have found the car to have terrible gas mpg, which I have come to understand a lawsuit was filed which resulted in a reimbursement of money to owners. However, I have been told that I am not entitled to reimbursement because I bought the car after Dec. 2, 2012. I contacted Hyundai customer service and I was told that I was supposed to have been informed by the dealer at the time I bought the car that the gas mpg was not accurately advertised. I was never told by the salesman or the dealership either verbally or in writing that the gas mpg was misleading .The car was purchased in Hyundai of Hackettstown in NJ.

The people are great when it comes to buying your car. But when it comes to helping fix it it is a nightmare. I got a new engine 3 months ago. They had it for 9 weeks. After 3 months of having it now it is having another issue and no one seems to know how to help other than fixing it. The parts are nowhere to be found and they have NO loaner cars, which I was told at first one wouldn't be given to me because my warranty didn't cover it even though had they done it right in the 9 weeks they had it, I wouldn't be in the position I am right now with NO car. After struggling for 7 weeks last time, they finally gave me a loaner the last 2 or 3 weeks of it all.Now we are at yet another situation where they can't help. This is completely aggravating and disappointing from Gates. I have been with them 7 years and this has been the worst yet. No big issues have happened in the past. My car is a 2014 with 41,000 miles and it shouldn't be where it is now. It has been well maintained and cared for. Before you buy, just know they are great but that's their job when selling. But when it comes to fixing things later on down the road, good luck.

I purchased a 2013 Hyundai Elantra Limited with all the bells and whistles. The Elantra comes 17 inch tires when you order the Limited. The 17 inch tires are also very low profile tires (45). The day I purchased the car was a cold and rainy day last November. When I test drove the car the roads were wet. On dry pavement the road noise started at about 35 MPH and gets so loud you have to turn up the radio just to hear it. NOT what you would expect from a $25000 car. I have complained about it to Hyundai - they authorized me to have the tires replaced with better quality tires - which I did and the problem still existed. Hyundai admitted there is a problem or they would not have replaced the tires. Many road tests have been done with Hyundai employees and all admit there is excess noise. I am working with the BBB to get Hyundai to buy the car back. Last week Hyundai after admitting there was a problem now wants to deny the claim. The problem is an engineering issue that can't be fixed and this was told to me by Hyundai. Has anyone had luck with the BBB arbitration hearings? I am very disappointed in Hyundai. Hyundai admits there is a problem now wants to deny a claim. I am not going to go away.

I have recently purchase a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport with 58k miles from a private party due to wanting to avoid financing and dealer fees. Main reason why I went with Hyundai was for their greatly advertise 10 years 100,000 miles warranty. Little that I know when I call Hyundai dealership about the status of my vehicle warranty I was told the warranty is non transferable to a second owner. That really let me down. So be careful buying a Hyundai from a third private party. Warranty does not transfer.

I purchased a 2021 Hyundai Kona in November of 2020. With less than 14,000 miles, it had to be towed due to a broken transfer case (manufacturer error). Hyundai refused to reimburse me for the $275 tow as a result of their poorly made car part which resulted in the tow. I would not choose this vehicle and will not be purchasing another in the future.

I stumbled upon this website when reading about tires, and was surprised to see virtually every car company with such horrendous reviews. Then I realized it's merely a sounding board for angry people with car troubles. I just wanted to share a little about my little 2013 Elantra GT. I bought it new, have done all maintenance in my garage, have used nothing but full synthetic oil and Hyundai brand parts (filters, etc to avoid warranty issues), and in return? It's been hands down the best car I've ever owned. Nothing has failed in the first 3 years, 40,000 miles. No car I've ever owned has accomplished that. It rides like it's brand new, no squeaks, no rattles, no nothing. Comfortable as can be, averages 32 in the city, 36 on the highway. I've owned many compacts in my life, none have come even close to this level of ride quality. Simply put, we love the car. It's our first Hyundai, and we would buy another in a heartbeat. And basically, this is merely a message to take everything you read online with a grain of salt. Including my review. Occasionally, you're going to get a car that's awful. I had one. 2012 Impala, kept it 9 months. It went back to the garage under warranty 11 times in those 9 months. Eventually, you just have to make a judgment call. Do you keep a car that's been nothing but problems? Or do you try something else. We now own a Hyundai and a Nissan and have been thrilled with them. Will I ever buy another Chevrolet? Sure! I just got a lemon. It happens. It totally stinks, but it happens.
