Volkswagen Golf Alltrack service and repairs
Volkswagen AG, known internationally as the Volkswagen Group, is a German multinational automotive manufacturing corporation headquartered in Wolfsburg, Lower Saxony, Germany.
The 2018 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack is a variation of the standard Golf, designed with a more rugged and off-road-oriented focus. It combines the practicality of a compact wagon with some additional features for outdoor and adventurous activities. Here are the key features of the 2018 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack:
Engine: The 2018 Golf Alltrack is equipped with a 1.8-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, which produces 170 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DSG) as the standard option.
All-Wheel Drive (4MOTION): The Golf Alltrack comes with Volkswagen's 4MOTION all-wheel drive system, enhancing traction and handling on various road conditions, including off-road terrain.
Off-Road Mode: The Alltrack features an Off-Road Mode, which optimizes performance for driving on uneven or challenging surfaces, including improved throttle response and stability control settings.
Ground Clearance: Compared to the standard Golf, the Alltrack has slightly raised ground clearance, allowing for better clearance over rough terrain.
Exterior Styling: The Golf Alltrack has a more rugged and distinctive appearance with protective cladding along the wheel arches and lower body, as well as silver-colored roof rails.
Interior: The interior of the Alltrack is similar to the standard Golf but includes unique Alltrack-specific touches like Alltrack branding and available leatherette seating surfaces.
Cargo Space: The Golf Alltrack offers a spacious cargo area, which can be expanded by folding down the rear seats, making it suitable for carrying outdoor gear and other cargo.
Infotainment System: The 2018 Golf Alltrack typically comes with a touchscreen infotainment system, which may vary depending on the trim level. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility are available on higher trims.
Safety Features: Standard safety features include a rearview camera, stability control, antilock brakes, and multiple airbags. More advanced safety features, such as forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning, may be available on higher trim levels.
Warranty: Volkswagen usually offers a limited warranty for 3 years or 36,000 miles, along with a powertrain warranty for 5 years or 60,000 miles.
Optional Packages and Upgrades: The Alltrack, like other Golf models, offers optional packages and standalone options that can add features like a panoramic sunroof, premium audio systems, navigation, and leather upholstery.
The 2018 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack is designed to provide a more rugged and versatile alternative to the standard Golf, making it a suitable choice for those who enjoy outdoor activities and require additional off-road capabilities. As always, the specific features and options may vary based on trim levels and regional availability. To get precise details, it's recommended to consult the official Volkswagen website or speak with a Volkswagen dealer.

Product Reviews:
I have a 2011 Jetta Sportwagen, which for the most part has performed well. However recently I've had a problem with my rear seat-belts seizing up and no longer working. I took them to the dealer and was charged $120 for them to look at it, tell me it would need replacement and I would have to pay $1200 because my car was no longer under warranty. I informed them I purchased the Platinum extended warranty and they said it was not covered. I contacted VW of America. After about a week I finally received a phone call and was told by a Jenny ** that she would see what she could do. A few days later she called back and said I was out of warranty, but they would supply the parts free of charge, but I would have to pay for installation. I told them I appreciated the gesture, but felt that a 3 year old vehicle should not have this issue. I wanted them to stand behind their product and replace the seat belts. I asked to speak to a supervisor and got the runaround, until she finally agreed to talk to her supervisor. Instead of a supervisor coming on the line after I sat waiting to dead air for 5 minutes or so, Jenny came back on and said SHE spoke to the supervisor and the supervisor agreed with her position. I told her I wanted to speak to the supervisor and I wanted the name of the person she spoke to. She kept trying to avoid the issue and then finally said she spoke to "Sharonda". I asked to speak to her and was told she could only put my request in the system and someone else would contact me by Monday.Joe of Pikesville, MD

Based on my experience, 2012 VW Tiguan seem to have a bigger electrical problems. The problems are endless. I experienced issue with car start-up, the air conditioner didn't work right, cabin bulbs were out. The experience so far has been a disaster. I can't trust the vehicle anymore and won't drive it with my kids. Just waiting for my lease to get over and I move on.Zahid of Simivalley, CA

At the end of the Hybrid Supplement, it notes that if the gas tank does not accept fuel please advise to bring it to an authorized dealership. I brought in the car the first time: Never resolved the issue. Second time the issue was never resolved again. During the second time they recommend that I have to fix the fuel door actuator and that would cause a check engine light. I replaced the fuel door actuator and that never resolved any issue. During this transition the car had a vac pump issue and the e-motor system fails. I complain that my car still doesn't accept gas and other issues had arisen, and reading their warranties it says non-warrantied parts that are damaged due to the warrantied parts will be replaced free of charge. I brought in the car for the third time. They denied any warranties that will cover the fuel door as well as the vacuum pump.I argued for quite sometime because one of the service member called me saying it would be the engine control module. They went back and forth to figure out what was the issue and most likely didn't want to express the real issue on this car because the ECM is in fact on the parts list. They fixed the fuel door actuator and it was a circuit issue. There is a very extensive list for PZEV warrantied parts which also includes a vacuum amplifier 2567. I called numerous dealerships and all the service technicians do not know anything about a vacuum amplifier, VW Care says that the dealerships are their best technical advisers and we do not know what a vacuum amplifier is. I would expect that a vacuum amplifier is a vacuum pump synonymously. 2567 service code is for the engine, the vacuum pump questioned is mounted behind the engine from what a service technician told me.Also in their warranty booklet it notes that if the dealership denies a claim, that it would send a written explanation why they would deny the claims within 30 days. If they fail to send a written response then, by law they would warrant those claims. So the supervisor Mary ** denies the claim over the phone after Volkswagen DTLA won't let me keep the car there until the claim is resolved. She never written a response letter or any explanation what a vacuum amplifier 2567 is as well as reason why the vacuum pump doesn't have anything to do with the emissions. I asked numerous technicians if the vacuum pump is related to emissions and was told numerous times that in fact it is. I wanted to escalate my claim and asked again to please re-look into my case.Bill, a regional VW Customer care agent tells me lets bring it to another dealership and look at the issues and let's get everything resolved so we can get a fresh non-biased report. I do bring it into another dealership and that dealership mistakenly calls me and asked to speak with DTLA Volkswagen. The new dealership says it's just a gas cap. Also the fuel door actuator fails again.VW Care deny claims once again and of course VW Care rudely uses scare tactics and employees like Bill ** and Preston are very good at intimidating me rather than listen to the case carefully as they insist that they will now write a written response for the denial of my claim more than 60 days past the original claim for the vacuum pump and fuel door actuator. I am very curious what else will lead to these numerous PZEV issues. I would highly stay away from Volkswagen, if they lied and cheated under their diesel engines; most likely there are issues with their emissions as well.Duke of Los Angeles, CA

VW passat 2009 - I have seen many posts written about the tire cupping issue and was wondering if anyone had heard any explanations. I was told that the TDI and non diesel Passat have the same chassis, and this is the reason for the cupping. The suspension system should not be the same for the diesel as the non diesel due to the weight difference. Now, along with the FOURTH set of tires I'm needing you buy (51000) I have learned two wheels have a crack on inner side which is causing tires to leak. Anyone else experience this?? I have never been in an accident nor have I hit any gigantic potholes! Also having issues with the brakes... Had to replace two expensive rotors as there was NO warning sounds before the grinding when it's too late. Very disappointed in VW.Brenda of Wichita Falls, TX

I re-titled my car from VA to IL in late 2019. After receiving my state transfer packet from VW, I called them before I went to the DMV and told them I thought I was missing a document in my packet. They assured me I had everything I needed. When I went to the DMV, they informed me I was missing a document that I told VW I needed earlier in the day. This caused a significant delay in re-titling. I had to pre-pay my taxes on the car for 2019. I submitted paperwork to VW showing that I had retitled the vehicle so I could receive a credit on the taxes I had already paid, and they told me I would have a resolution in 6-8 weeks. It has been almost 3 months and I have still not heard back on my status. Every time I call and talk to a customer service representative, they promise me they will get an answer by the end of the day and will call me back. I have yet to receive a call back. I have absolutely had it. Their agents do not care about making sure I receive the money I am due-I truly wonder if they are just holding on to the funds from the state of VA and not forwarding them on to me. It is ridiculous.Dustin of Chicago, IL

I purchased my brand new VW TDI in May of 2015. The TDI scandal was announced only a few months after my purchase. The following Nov I received a letter about the Goodwill package Volkswagen was offering as long as you register your vehicle... Information they clearly had!!! I immediately went to the site to register my VIN. Their site continued to freeze after the input of the VIN #. I continued to try several times a month with no luck. In Jan 2016 I emailed VW with my concerns AND my vehicle information. It took over a month for them to get back to me and inform me that there was a high volume on their site and to keep trying or try another browser. REALLY? I kept trying every month several times different computers, iPads and phones... no luck. I finally got through on June 30, 2016. The response I got was "Congratulations! Your vehicle qualifies for the Goodwill Package. Unfortunately, this registration is closed". I called VW customer care, and after being on hold for over 30 minutes, the agent informed me that there was nothing he or VW could do because I had "ample time" to register my vehicle. I was told I should have called their customer care department at an earlier date (they are only open from 9am to 5pm Monday-Friday) and they could have "walked me through" registering my vehicle. I work during those hours and don't have time to sit on hold for 30 minutes!! I know how to use a computer!! They are still offering the package, just not on MY vehicle!!!I was not allowed to speak to a supervisor and was told that VW was "very firm on not extending the program past the cut-off date". I want to know how many others had this problem? Was this just a ploy to lure us into not bad mouthing a company who purposely defrauded their customers? Are they still pulling scams on us? Should I file a suit for this $1000 package?Vicky of El Paso, IL

The battery died in my 2005 Toureg. I had the car towed on Thursday, Nov. 10th, to Southtown Volkswagen. I called to verify that the car was received and it was. I was also told that it would not be looked at until the following day. So on Friday, I called and they still hadn't looked at it. Then later in the afternoon, they determined that some compass something or other in the roof was staying on and draining the battery. I was told I would need to replace the battery at $350 plus $99 labor charge. I said okay. Then, they said they would check to see if the malfunction compass something or other was covered under my warranty. Of course, it wasn't. I was quoted around $500 for the repair on this. They claimed they ordered the part. However, today Nov 14, 2011, they still haven't got the part. Now I am out probably close to $1200 (parts and labor and other ** I am certain they are trying to claim), not to mention the extra money I paid to purchase a warranty. What a waste of money that is. I like the car. It’s too bad the company cares so little for their customers. It’s a good way to go out of business I think.Sandra of West Jordan, UT

Receiving my final invoice from VW credit for 4,888. This was a lease return that I thought was factored into the deal. Guess what, it was not. I am writing this as I just received my final invoice coming off a lease. Well guess what, I owe 4,888 dollars. This was back from May of 2018. At the time I gave Lakeland VW 5 stars. Matter of fact went and purchased 2 more VW as I was so happy. Well stupid me I should have asked more questions before signing any paperwork. Of course they took my trade/lease and gave me 1,000 dollars to make up for the remaining 6 lease payments. At the time this seemed weird but they told me not to worry about it, You will get your final invoice showing the remaining lease payments, take the money we send you and pay your final invoice from VW credit. What they didn't tell me is that you will also have to pay for high mileage, dents, dings and any excessive wear and tear. Well this just cost me an additional 3,888 dollars. Stupid me (because I have never leased). All they did was take and send it back to VW credit. I thought this was being treated as a normal trade in and any excessive wear and tear was factored into the deal. NOPE just the opposite. One would think they would have fully disclosed this prior to me signing the deal. Had I would have known I would have just kept the car until the lease ran out and just purchased it out right, which I had planned to do anyways. I have spoke to VW Corp and VW credit and of course there is nothing that can do, this lies with the dealership. I am warning you, if your coming off a lease be very careful and ask 1,000 of questions before signing your name. 7 months later you will get the same invoice as I did. Cost me an additional 3,888 bucks. Stupid me, go somewhere else that will have full disclosure since this is not your day job and you're trusting others with your money or at least trusting others to fully disclose your huge purchase. I would like the dealership to honor paying the additional 3,600 dollars that should have been factored into the deal.Darren of Winter Garden, FL

VW New Beetle are expensive cars to maintain, difficult to work on and have unreliable transmissions and weak front lower control arm bushings. I have replaced two transmissions in 110K miles, 11 headlight bulbs, 9 trunk pistons and two sets of lower control arm bushings with ball joints plus two vacuum pumps that leak oil.Carlo of Lebanon, GA

The car itself is fine, the company is terrible. VW Credit continually screws up. It takes numerous contacts to get them to fix anything. Then they will ruin your credit rating when they mess up. Their automated system suddenly got screwed up and did not take 2 lease payments out after months with no problem. I was never notified and found out from Credit Karma when they reported it as 60 days of missed payments to the credit bureaus. I've spent literally hours over the last 6 months on the phone, copying documents, faxing, mailing and following up trying to get them to fix their mistake. It tanked my credit rating causing me to be unable to refinance my home and lower my mortgage payment. This is just the worst of it as they have repeatedly messed up this account. VW Credit has been an absolute nightmare to deal with and I've lost hours of my life trying to get them to fix their mistakes. Never, never, never again would I have a car loan or lease with VW Credit.Dc of Portland, OR
