I filed for bankruptcy on the 7th of July, 2010. BMW financial services was not listed. I kept the vehicle (certified used, finance purchase in 2007) and continued my monthly payments as per contract which was signed when I purchased the vehicle. After a year out of bankruptcy, this August 2011, I was informed that I do not have any grace period. I have written to BMW and the reply was, "the contract can not be changed because of bankruptcy". I am not asking to change the due date which is the 28th of each month, the 8 or 10 days grace period is in question of which I had the advantage of, before and after bankruptcy which helped me to meet my monthly payment. BMW has taken away this grace period. This is terrible in these days when the economy (lack of jobs) is a bad shape. I just have merely a year to pay off on the vehicle. Does BMW care about good customer relationship as they can re-posses the vehicle and sell vehicles more than the owed balance?Marjory of Queens, ny

I send my car to BMW of Main line on Bala ave, Bala Cynwyd PA to fix the engine as I noticed a white smoke come out of tail pipe. The car have only 80 K. After they take the car for about month they give me the car. I drive the car for about two months. It was time to change the oil. I go to another BMW dealer closer from my new home. After they change the oil I noticed a ticking noise. At the time I go to pickup my car, they inform me that this issue inside the engine and I should take the car to the dealer who open the engine for me as this engine should be under cover. I called BMW of main line and I called BMW of north America. NO one helped me, no one even their manager told me to take it to BMW who change the oil and the one who change the oil, they told me to take it to the one who open the engine. They forgot that both of them are BMW and I don't care how they deal with this thing. I just need this ticking noise to be fixed. They only smile on your face when you are there to buy a car, then when you go back to fix something that they can't handle they just keep ignoring you. They look for cheap mechanic to handle our cars. They are not professionals.Waly of North Arlington, NJ

I got a lemon. This is the most expensive car I ever paid for. I had driven many different types of cars. So far this 2009 BMW 335i gave me so many troubles. My car is 19,500 miles and since December 2011, my car had been at the shop for 13 times. It’s in the shop again right now and I don't know when I'm going to get it back. It's one problem after another. BMW advertised their cars as the ultimate driving machine, I think the quality of their cars had felt way below standard. There is nothing I can do about it since besides selling it. Don't bother to call their service manager or BMW of North America to waste your time. You will be going around in circles and you will find yourself angrier with gaining nothing. I had drove BMW for many years. Bottom line is, do not buy any BMW, the quality of their cars is not built like before.Linh of Boca Raton, FL

After receiving a recall letter from BMW for the brake vacuum pump (recall campaign no. 10v-446), I took the car to Crevier BMW but was told they didn't have the part. I never heard back from Crevier BMW, and I forgot about it until the brakes completely failed without warning. I had the car towed to the nearest dealer in Irvine. They replaced the vacuum supply line but not the vacuum pump. They recommended that I replace the leaking vacuum pump at my cost of over $900. The description of the problem included in the recall letter from BMW specifically indicates that the leak from the vacuum pump into the vacuum hose is the root of the problem. I spoke to Jody ** at BMW and she said that the recall is a federal mandate and this mandate only requires them to replace the line and not the pump.I have owned BMW cars for more than 12 years, you would think they would stand behind their product and keep a loyal customer happy. They truly do not care about the customer. They will only take care of the problem if the car is leased and/or under warranty, and even then, they'll put off the work until the car is out of warranty.I have had a new 750Li since 2006. From the beginning, the engine oil light would come on and I would have to take the car in to be topped off. I kept asking why I had to do this so often and they assured me that it was normal for the 750. I had a new 745 before this car and I never had this problem. I didn't worry about it since there was no sign of a leak on my garage floor. Now that the car is out of warranty, they tell me that there is a leak.Atala of Trabuco canyon, ca

I bought a certified BMW X3 with 9000 mileage back in 2012. The car has given more issues with drivetrain than any other car. This past Wednesday the engine died. Now in need of new engine. That piece of crap gave me no warning. Just stop on the highway. Endanger my safety. We all need to get together to have class action lawsuit against BMW. It make no sense that my friend had been driven a KIA has no issues and I purchase this expensive car. I experienced more trouble than driving the damn thing. I hope consumerAffairs can do something about this issues. I will never own a BMW. Not reliable.isma of Port St Lucie, FL

On Friday, July 12, 2013, the Eastern Shore of Maryland had torrential rain storms throughout the area. In Salisbury, Maryland, the City public works closed off streets promptly if they became flooded. On this date I drove my 2012 BMW 328I to the post office, and then to the bank to make some deposits. I traveled only over main thoroughfares that were being utilized by normal traffic. These streets were wet and had puddles of water encroaching on the streets as one would expect during torrential rain storms. While going from the post office to the bank the vehicle started missing, and an error message appeared which stated, Engine Malfunction Drive Moderately. All though the vehicle was running rough, I made my deposits and returned home and parked the car in our garage; believing that maybe the electronics got wet and they only needed to be dried out. The next Monday I started the car and it seemed to run better but the engine light and error message still were on. I then called the dealership in Annapolis, Maryland where I had purchased the vehicle approximately one (1) year ago and talked to a service representative about the problem. This service representative told me to bring the vehicle to Annapolis, which is about 90 miles from Salisbury. As there seemed to be a major problem with the engine I felt that they should pick up the vehicle as it was still under warranty with less than 10,000 miles usage. Finally, the Service Rep. told me to call BMW Road Service and have them trailer the car to Annapolis. The next Tuesday, a Service Technician from BMW Annapolis called me at about 9:00 AM and told me that there was water in the Air Filter and suggested that the filter and oil should be changed. I told him to go ahead as it was covered under warranty. He then stated that it was not covered under warranty and I inquired why as it was still in the warranty period since it had been driven less than 10,000 miles. After much discussion, I told him to go ahead and change these items, but I wanted a call from a management employee as I strongly felt it was a warranty problem. I also asked this technician how high the water would have to be to cause the problem he noted with the engine, and he stated, "Up to the windows." Since he had the vehicle, I asked him if he saw any indication of a water line on the car, or even that the water had reached the floor boards. He responded in the negative, but stated that he was following his supervisor’s instructions. On the following Wednesday, the same Service Representative (with no call from the Supervisor), called and stated they changed the oil and air filter, but the engine light and the error message were still displayed. More investigation by the Service Representative showed that a rod had been bent and that it now needed a new $21,000.00 engine and by the way, it’s not covered under warranty. I was totally flabbergasted, as I could not believe that I driving a BMW during a rain storm would cause this kind of damage, and, that then it would not be covered under warranty. Please keep in mind I have been driving for over forty years with significant experience in similar rain storms, the BMW has less than 10,000 miles on it (has not even reached its first service period), and that BMW would even question whether or not the car had been in a flood when they had the vehicle there and there was absolutely no visual signs of flood damage.I again stated I wanted to talk to a manager regarding this problem and stated my complete disillusionment with BMW Annapolis on how they were handling this matter. This has been my third BMW over nearly 20 years (previous had 5 series BMWs), and I felt that as a luxury car organization they would stand behind there warranties and not treat their loyal customers in this manner. Finally, on this last Friday July 19, 2013, I got a call from the same Service Technician at 5:00 PM in the evening reiterating that he talked with his Supervisor, and that the engine needed to be replaced at a cost of $21,000 and that it would not be under warranty. I inquired why the Supervisor had not called me for over two (2) days when I specifically had requested this. Furthermore, I had been without a vehicle for well over a week, I am being told I need to spend $21,000 on a basically brand new BMW, and I don’t even get the courtesy of a phone call from a BMW Annapolis Service Supervisor. At 5:30 PM that evening I received an email (copy attached) from the Service Supervisor stating basically the same thing the Service Technician had said previously. I responded to the Supervisors email, and now I am writing you in a attempt to resolve this before it completely gets out of control. I have filed a claim with my insurance company, but feel strongly that this is a warranty issue, not an insurance problem. Even if it is covered, I will have to pay a deductable and the re-sale value of the car will be greatly reduced as it will be tagged as Flood Damage. Even though there is absolutely no evidence of the vehicle being in a flood, or for that matter in very deep water. As stated before, I have been a loyal BMW owner, driving in similar conditions as I experienced in this case, and have never been as disappointed as I am now with your company. I have many friends and associates that have BMWs and I have to say they are as flabbergasted as I am regarding this matter. I DO NOT think that this is the reputation that BMW would like to have in the public’s perception.Stuart of Salisbury, MD

I have a 2007 BMW 335i that I bought from a BMW dealer. The car is a CPO car. I have had a constant problem with the car burning oil. It uses about a quart of oil every 750 miles. I took the car into the dealer when I realized that there was indeed a problem. Their course of action was to do an oil study. What that meant was that I had to take it back to the dealer every time that the oil warning indicator went off, and that they would verify that the car had a problem. After many trips and quite a few hours sitting at The BMW Dealer, they did verify that the car was indeed using a lot of oil.On two occasions they kept the car for a few days to check it out. They said that they could find anything wrong with the car. I contacted BMW North America on their website, and they came back, telling me that 750 miles per quart was normal. Since then my CPO warranty has gone out, and I am stuck with this problem. On the plus side, the car is a lot of fun to drive. This has been a bad experience for me. I have had the car in the shop once since then. More problems, amounting to a $1,000.00 repair bill for what should have been minor things. I will never buy another BMW and cannot recommend them to anyone else. I also have a Lexus - five years old and ZERO problems. I would love to hear from anyone else that has had oil issues.Marc of Friendswood, TX

I am overly wrought about my purchase of a 1994 BMW (purchased in 2003 with only 62,000 miles). It now has 132,000 miles on it. The following has happened in the last three years: the transmission went out, air conditioning went out, SRS system is down, radiator went out (2 times), $2,000 of leaks, and lumbar adjustment (both seats) broken.Stephen of Sonoma, CA

I bought a BMW with extended warranty which covers paint, tires, windshield etc. I was not told about the full deal. I was misinformed about windshield because their extended warranty only covers it one time! If it happens again no one will help. I was not told and didn't read the fine print. Now I had also coverage for paint and had a scratch in the bumper. They said it's accidental or driver error. I don't understand what I should do at this point. All I did was parked the car in the Home Depot parking lot and came back to see the bumper scratch. Now it's not covered according to the BMW 3rd party coverage. I asked "under what criteria my scratch is not covered and what did you based on?" They said picture and some and someone came and looked at it and thinks that it's not covered.I went and spoke to the sales manager. He said that "you paid $2000 for windshield protection and now you already got the money back and just be happy about it." I paid almost around 8000 for extended warranty. No one is able to help me out at this point. I called IBC and they said they don't deal with extended warranty and ask me to call and talk to my local MP!!! Can anyone help?Mark of Toronto, ON

Originally I loved my 2011 BMW 335d diesel with 140,000 miles. I am the original owner. Vehicle develops serious carbon buildup due to direct injection. $4000.00 repair (decarb intake manifold). Manufacturer obviously knows about it because they stopped producing this vehicle. Then a few months later, emissions NOx sensors go bad and no way to fix without replacing catalytic converter and both front and rear NOx sensors. So far $2300 just for parts. The vehicle only gives you 200 miles to get her into a shop then it won't start. Imagine if every vehicle with a "Check Engine Light" on wouldn't run after 200 miles. To make matters worse, catalytic converters are back ordered going on three weeks now with a rental. Please advise.Charles of Washington, NJ
