Im a long term BMW customer that took pride and enjoyment in driving BMW products. I have purchased 4 motorcycles and 2 cars. Sadly, I had the misfortune of purchasing a 2009 BMW 1300 GT (vin # **) with 11 pages of recall repairs. I purchased the bike from BMW of Oklahoma in 2010. The bike was a demo. I have found out that the dealer had stalling problems with the bike because in 01/23/2010 (6510 km) the shop worked on testing software. At time of purchase, I was not informed that the bike had a serious problem or that BMW had issued a Recall 09V471000 on the bike - Engine stalling could result in vehicle crash dated 12/04/2009. Remedy: BMW will notify owners and repair the motorcycle free of charge. BMW did not notify me of the recall. If I had been notified of the recall, I would never have driven the bike and would have gotten in touch with BMW.On 07/29/2011 (33234 km) I took the bike to Bobs BMW because the engine was stopping: again testing software. On 06/22/2013 (65734 km), while on vacation, I took the bike to Eurosport BMW of Asheville for the same problem: same repair. I did not ride the bike in 2014. I started having same problems again this year. While on vacation, I stopped at BMW dealer of Montreal on 07/08/2015 (38493 miles). They said the problem was not software but the stepper (idle) motor and airbox. On way home, I stopped at Velocity Cycle BMW dealership. They made the same recommendation as the Montreal dealer.I have been in touch with BMWs customer service and all I keep hearing is stalling tactics: bike is out of warranty, waiting response from regional representative... Im tired of being ignored and given bad information. Its fortunate that Im a good driver and have not crashed when the engine stopped. I have taken the bike off the road and will not drive it. Will someone in BMW please take action and solve this problem.

For people thinking about purchasing a BMW, please read on about how corporate shamefully handled our situation with a brand new 2014 BMW X3. Since mid December, our vehicle has damaged itself by scratching straight through the hood to the bare metal. This happened twice. First incidence, the service manager Marvin at our local dealership (Joel Confer in State College, PA) had no idea how it could have happened and advised we touch up the spot and wait to see if it happened again. Also note that paint residue was on the underside of the wiper assembly (very difficult to touch in regular operation). Marvin agreed that this was very strange. Within a month and a half, the same exact spot was scratched through right through to the metal again. This time, the paint residue was on the top of the wiper assembly. The second time, we sent the vehicle back to Sun Motors in Mechanicsburg, PA (original purchase location) for an official corporate inspection. Waited a week and a half to hear back and then it was claimed that there was nothing mechanically wrong with the wiper so they would not be doing anything except to re-touch-up the area with a touch up paint kit. The spot is not perfectly touched up and the damaged area is still clearly distinguishable. We were also advised against having the entire hood repainted again because it would diminish the value of the vehicle, have to be on record as being repainted for any future trade-ins and the paint job wouldnt be factory perfect.I asked that a resolution team member (Ruth **) look into it as that was an unacceptable response. No one from our family has lifted the wiper blade and the vehicle has been either garaged or kept in our driveway. Wipers have only been operated in rain and NEVER under heavy snow. I asked that if two service departments and corporate couldnt explain why this happened TWICE IN THE EXACT SAME SPOT, how could they write it off as coincidence? Nobody could offer us an explanation or even a firm indication that this wouldnt happen again. No compensation whatsoever was offered at all.BMW corporate resolutions then stated that perhaps someone lifted the hood and/or wipers incorrectly. Again, I responded that no one in our family has done so. Of course, conveniently for BMW, there is no way to prove this since I havent had a video camera on my car at all times since purchase. I stated then that this only left supposedly trained technicians at two different certified BMW dealerships that touched our car. Ruth ** from corporate, then agreed that it could be a possibility that these professionals could have damaged our car, twice. Unlikely but the only explanation offered. End Result: Left with a $50K+ 2014 X3 that apparently hates its own hood. We also need to be paranoid about using our wiper blades. If third instance occurs, we will most likely look into PA Lemon Laws. May simply trade in or sell X3 for a brand that actually has a sense of corporate responsibility. Conclusion? #shouldhaveboughtAudi

I bought this in April 2008 with 18,000 on it, as a 40 mile each way commuter, and with the Corbin seat and BMW bags already on it. I love it right from the start. It has massive torque, gobs of acceleration and is fast enough for me (I haven't had it flat out, but I've had an indicated 120 mph out of it without trying hard). I found it a little too buzzy for comfort around 4500 rpm. The Manic Salamander bar end weights (18.5 ounces instead of the stock 9.5 ounces) completely cured that. I found it very windy over 70 mph; Parabellum windshield, adjusted as high as it can go cured that. My other add-ons were for personal preference, not necessity. The bike is as reliable as a stone, comfortable all day, a joy to drive and magic through the twisties. At first I felt like I wasn't getting much feedback from the front suspension, then I realized it just was not having any problems, so there was nothing for it to tell me. It just goes around bends on any surface at any speed I've asked of it without fuss.

In 2011, I bought a 2010 550i gt with 10k miles from Global Imports and in the span of a year, It had ten service repairs on everything from oil consumption to pumps leaks drivetrain failures. Global trade assisted me out of that vehicle into another 2010 550i gt. Within one year this vehicle was sixteen times in repair shop with ongoing failure of vehicle. I am in negotiation with BMW of North America as they have admitted liability of their failed vehicles but they have a goal to profit from this and sell me another vehicle. I believe that two and a half years of constant repairs subjecting my family to stress, loss of time, loaner vehicles and a incident where we broke down on the busiest Atlanta freeway at high traffic time potentially deadly, is cause for BMW to offer a apology and as they stand by their Brand, they stand by myself the consumer and offer my family a new vehicle comparable to the features of the 550i gt minus the constant failed operations and performances.

We have a 2011 BMW 535i. When accelerating, after coming to a stop or in reverse, the car hesitates and lurches. I met with two BMW service managers, and both acknowledged the problem existed but have been informed by their regional BMW representative for the Bay Area that for this particular model. It is normal for the car to lurch. I have contacted BMWs customer relations, and they have said that they can go no further, but have encouraged me to take the car to another dealership, and have them check it out. When I asked if the same regional BMW representative serviced, all of the dealerships in the Bay Area, I was told yes. Thus, the normal explanation will be the standard response.

I purchased a BMW 120i Cabrio from the local distributor Spanos Hellas. I paid 35000 euros for a used car and this year I wanted to drive it to Switzerland and I asked for the certificate of conformity which is required and they asked me to pay 150 euros to give it to me. I believe it is ridiculous to pay for a certificate that should be included in the car papers. Please let me know if there is another way to obtain this certificate. Its not a huge amount but I find it totally unacceptable and I will seek legal advice for this issue.

So I leased a 2020 430 convertible in July 2019. A month later driving the car in 90° weather after two hours of driving the air-conditioning broke. Brought the car back to the dealership, they said the problem was fixed. A month later same situation. Brought it back, he said it was fixed. The following summer in 90° weather same situation after a few hours of driving air-conditioning stopped. Brought it to a different dealership, problem was fixed, it was not. Currently two weeks ago in June, driving back from the Jersey shore and 98° weather I stopped at a rest stop and left my daughter and my dog in the car. When I came back I found that the air conditioner had stopped, my daughter who has down syndrome, my dog suffered mild heatstroke. Contacted Bmw multiple times. They tell me that nothing is wrong with the car. And have yet to buy me out of my lease. So worst company ever, this car is a lemon. There’s nothing but problems with these BMWs. Do not purchase or lease then.

2007 BMW M6 - The fastest lemon on earth: I bought a used 2007 BMW M6 with 20,500 miles in January 2012 from Dave Walter BMW of Akron, Ohio. I drove from Detroit to pick the car up. Upon driving home to stop for gas (This car averages 10 mpg of premium, for your information.), my father noticed the BMW emblem was gone on the front. Needless to say, driving off the lot without a BMW emblem they blew off was very irritating, to say the least. But the dealership was surprised and said they will mail me one to put on. (By that, I mean I had to have a dealership put another one on because I broke the tiny plastic trying to squeeze it on the holes on my first attempt.) Prior to me receiving the new emblem was day two where while driving, a warning light came on that said passenger restraint warning. Now, I was very pissed. And just as this had happened while driving, the screen just went blank and would not turn on for the navigation or iDrive system. Now, the dealer was confused and said, We will see if we can get a dealer closer to you to handle this. Well, after a few days, they called saying I will need to bring it back to them in Akron, Ohio. I am now really pissed. Its winter, so I just tell them when the weather breaks, Ill get it to them. About a month later, I have a friend in Toledo drive the car back to them which results in no M6 for 2 weeks. They fix it, I get my car back. One day, thats right one day, after I got it back, the light returned! Great Job repairing that! So, I now just tell them to send a transport to my house and pick this pig up. Im not adding more miles and gas money, because you didnt fix it the first time. They agreed.Another few weeks passed, and I got the car back. Wouldnt you know it, they left me with 1/10th of a tank, despite promising to have it cleaned and full (I had over half a tank before they took it.). So I think Ok, the worst is over, right? Wrong! While driving home in July, the car literally died while driving and a light stated increased battery discharge. And my screen died, and I could not change gears! I got home, and now, I am not even on speaking terms with the dealership as I have been so pissed about how they handle everything. I had to jump the car (New battery was installed when I bought the car.) and drive it around to try to recharge it. This worked temporarily, and the light cleared. 3 days after the power dying issue, lo and behold! The passenger restraint light is back to its usually warning position. I have now made up my mind to sell this car asap as I fear the worst. 6 days after this and one day after putting it up for sale, driving home from work, theres a warning engine malfunction (reduced power). Thats right, its now 500 horses. I honestly was scared. Oh, and I forgot the trunk wouldnt open. You had to use a key, and the center consoles locking mechanism made it where you couldnt open the center console. I have since traded this car in, but I want it to be known that this story is 100% true and actually longer and more depressing. But this was my shorthand version of this POS. Dave Walter BMW of Akron, Ohio. It should be shut down! They do not deserve any business, and I assure you they did nothing to try to help me out in any way. Do not ever buy a BMW. Dont even take one, if its given to you, because the repair costs will break your bank account!

On August 24, 2014 I purchased a used 2009 BMW 335i with 58,213 miles. Unfortunately, from the time I drove vehicle off parking lot, it has been nothing but a money pit. I will start out with when I had to return the car to dealership shortly after purchase because the sunroof did not work properly. The problem was fixed, however it was just the beginning because more problems ensued and it seems like there is no end in sight. Not long after, check engine light is always on, I think it is the oil, even though it is about three months that I have car. I take car to get oil changed only to find out that it needs new shocks. I paid handsomely for new shocks in hopes that I am good with car. However, when I collected the vehicle and started using it again, a problem still existed. Three weeks later, I take it back to mechanic and they do a diagnostics test and determine that its the engine! The engine cylinders are misfiring. I havent had this car for 6 months and there is a major problem. My warranty was up but I was led to believe with the 82 point inspection that I had a good car, I mean its a BMW. Engine problems are big deals which is why I had to contact the dealership. The person who sold the car to me, took car to get checked out with the dealerships BMW service. The diagnosis I was given was that I needed to be using high quality gas and dont go below a quarter of a tank before refilling. I was then sent on my way. I was patient but two months pass and check engine light still lighting up. My car is shaking and I now know I have a LEMON of an expensive car. I actually took car to the San Antonio BMW dealership because I wanted to know if they had seen the car and I was told that dealership never brought the car in to check for misfires. So I contacted dealership again and thankfully, management agreed have the engine cylinder misfires fixed. After that repair they were done with me. I really felt that all problems were resolved and now I must maintain and keep up with repairs that would happen as more mileage was put on the car. I had forgotten that I actually had a lemon of a car. My nightmare was really about to begin. In August, it will be three years since the purchase of this 2009 BMW which currently has approximately 97,200 miles. Here is the rundown on repairs since purchase, however I may have left some out: Water pump, New tires (the warranty dealership sold me was bogus), Coolant, Serpentine belt, Air conditioning, Brakes, Oil pan gasket, Valve cover gasket, Oil hoses, Engine drive belt and tensioner, Spark plugs, Direct engine coils, Upper and lower pulleys. As of today, the car is in the shop because it turns out that the reason the power steering belt keeps breaking (second time it was replaced was in April 2017 so this is third time to replace) is because there is a crack in a mounting bracket of the power steering pump. Mind you, I had taken the car to the BMW dealership for a diagnostics test on June 27 June 30, 2017 because the car had been running in limp mode since May which is dangerous especially driving during rush hours to and from work. Our mechanics diagnosis suggested it could be an indicator that the high pressure fuel pump needs to be replaced and mechanic did not want to work on it in the event that it was the high pressure fuel pump which is under warranty and only the BMW dealership is able to replace. The car was at dealership for three days for diagnostics only to find out that it was not the high pressure fuel pump but the low pressure fuel pump sensor. Upon reflection, I learn that not all issues with car can be determined with diagnostics otherwise that power steering bracket crack would have been revealed since I was having to replace the belt for the third time. The costs for repairs are power steering problem is approximately $1100 and fuel sensor approximately $500, I hope. Fuel sensor pump is scheduled to be fixed this Thursday with the dealership but now I will probably have to rescheduled since I just had to pay $1305 for the spark plugs, coils and valve cover gasket. Total costs thus far, are well over $11,000 and rising after this repair be worked on now. No worries I have receipts. I have been so frustrated and overwhelmed with these car problems that no one should have to deal with in this short period of time for a presumably well-made top of the line car. I have been inconvenienced because of the many times of being carless and have taken time off from work to get car repaired because mechanics do not work weekends and as a teacher I have to schedule based on my teaching schedule. I contacted BMW North America because I wanted to know if these problems are typical and if I had any recourse to consider. They take no responsibility for a lemon of a car and advised that I contact the dealership who sold me the car because they had no records on the maintenance of the car. I also informed the lienholder because the cost of repairs and still owning on the car just doesnt make any sense to hold on to a lemon of a car. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT NO ONE BUY A BMW! I understand maintenance and replacing parts but geez this car started falling apart at 60,000 miles. Now the only recourse I have is to trade in car while I am upside down and buy something safer and less expensive because I cant afford more repairs. Amazing how these top of the line car manufacturers take no accountability for such poorly manufactured cars. I was suckered by the name brand and thinking it made it a better vehicle. Live and learn.

I leased a 2009 328i BMW and a basic part of the car was Voice Recognition - no need to buy the navigation system. I leased the 2013 328i and of course expected the Voice Recognition to be part of the package. No one at BMW Manhattan knew that it wouldnt be. I took the car and soon learned this was the case. Called BMW and was told that this year it wasnt part of the basic package but they were fixing it and the software would be available by June 2013. June has come and gone and I am now told it will not be available at all. Never would I have taken this car. BMW will not take the car back. This is a safety issue - and I dont know of another car that doesnt provide this as a basic. BMW is arrogant about this and dismissive. I will never get another one of its cars. This is bad business.

I own a 1999 BMW 328i e46. At 0715hrs March/23/2017 I was driving to work when out of nowhere and for no reason the drivers side A-pillar and door airbags deployed striking my left arm leaving a bruise and pushing me towards the center console. I contacted BMW of North America and spoke to a representative and was asked to deliver the vehicle to the nearest dealership so they can perform an investigation. At 1525 hrs April/11/2017 I contacted the representative at BMW, she told me that the sensors sensed an impact even though there is no recent physical damage to the undercarriage of my car. She then proceeded to tell me my cars suspension is worn out and couldve caused enough shock to set off my airbag.Instead of taking responsibility for an obvious manufacturer issue she then tried to blame it on age then changed back to a sensor recorded an impact. Then offered me $1500 to Help with repairs to my car in-house only. I need my car. Its how I get to work so I can take care of my family. I cant cover the existing amount of $3000 to cover the rest as quick as I need my car! BMW should pay for all the damages! Airbags should NEVER deploy without an accident! The car broke itself and tried to kill me in the process. Luckily I am 230 pounds and 61 tall. This couldve killed anyone smaller!!! Very scary and disappointing!

It sounds like a tractor and it drives like one. Engine is struggeling under 3000 rpm and above it, the vibrations are so severe that you will think twice about driving above 60 miles per hour for extended periods of time. The Rotax engine is the worst engine I have ever driven. Good for your lawnmower but that,s it. And, in my opinion, not worthy of the BMW badge.Pro,s: it is reliable, cheap to maintain, and easy to handle.

I purchased an 08 M6 from the dealer in May of 13. It had 63,000 mi. In the fall 0f 14, I had the clutch, flywheel and slave cylinder replaced for a few thousand. In Dec. of 14, the check engine light came on. I parked it and had it towed to the dealer in Jan. They said it didnt have the correct battery so they replaced it, synced it to the computer for several hundred. Then they said it needed a new vanos pump as the chain was broken and metal shards were found in the bottom of the oil pan. Solenoids in the VANOS system had broken, causing the chain to break. The vanos pump was replaced and now Im told they couldnt get all the metal shards out and I need a new engine for $25,000.00. This is the top-of-the-line flagship vehicle for BMW. It has 72,000 mi. on the engine and has experienced catastrophic failure. I owe several thousand for the work thats been done and it still needs a new engine. Id appreciate suggestions, advice.

We bought a used 2007 550I from Momentum Southwest Houston BMW. It were all lies from the start. The salesman tells us the car has to have special tires, which were on the car and they installed 2 of them. On the test drive, the salesman would not show us how to use the paddle shifters SMG 6 speed. After 6 weeks of begging for a manual and spare key, we finally got a manual and key which we had to pay for. The paddle shifters do not work, as well as the driver seat thigh support motor. One cold 40 degree morning, the check engine light comes on. When my wife got home, I put my scan tool on it. The thermostat is bad stuck open and we took it to dealer as we bought warranty. The warranty company says it does not cover all pre-existing conditions. I talked to the GM at the dealer and they offered to replace the seat motor and repair the paddle shifters for free. While it was there, they call and tell us that all front and rear control arms are bad and needed to be replaced. With an alignment of roughly $2100, I told them Ill take care of the thermostat and suspension. I install lift kits in trucks for a living, and the parts for MOOG are cheaper, but the dealer wants $1800 for parts. MOOG parts at retail are $249.00, I can do the math. We can take it back there for alignment if they dont try to jerk us around for something else. I wont probably buy another one. What a **. We drive off the lot, it depreciates and needs $5000.00 worth of repairs before we get it home.

I bought a BMW 5 series. I Started having problems with a Misfire and shakes in the wheel and wiper issues along with navigation and AC issues. I reported all these issues before the end of the Manufacturers warranty which would have covered all these repairs. During that time I was told nothing wrong. Brought it back again and they said nothing wrong. Of course after the warranty expires, the first time I brought it back they found the issue. They had me to pay for all these experiments to solve the problems and now in my pocket about $3000. In all this time I stressed that I shouldnt have to pay because its ongoing repairs that should have been fix but never was. They still insisted on my paying for all repairs. That have not stand up to the warranty and did not do anything to my satisfaction. At the moment I am risking my life every moment I am on the highway because when Im switching lanes, I get stuck in slow motion most times and this can cause the car approaching from behind to collide and cause very serious damages or DEATH. BMW does not care even though I stressed these concerns every time. STAY AWAY FROM ALL BMWs!!!

I have been purchasing and driving BMWs since 2002 and have purchased or leased 9 different NEW BMWs for myself, my son and my wife over the past 12 years. As a driving machine it is awesome, but their Bluetooth and Navigation software is beyond terrible... it is USELESS! The navigation software is only useful if the address has existed for more than 40 years in some cases, and every year, BMW tries to sell you an updated navigation disc for $200.00 - are you kidding me? The Bluetooth phone software is at least three years old on my 2012 X5 and even with their software update, it is at least two years behind current technology. I had to search for and buy a retro cell phone that BMW claims works in my car, but it DOES NOT! The software repeatedly drops calls and now its even dropping my phone from the system, causing me to repeatedly have to add new phone in the telephone Bluetooth menu; a process that can take several attempts and in one case more than an hour. I was doing this at least twice a week until I just said the hell with it and now dont use my phone through the BMW Bluetooth system. This is a huge inconvenience for me, as I make a lot of calls from my car in conjunction with my business. This has become so bad that I cannot use my phone in the car, unless I stop, turn on my Bose Bluetooth earpiece and make the call directly from my phone. I have complained to BMW numerous times, but quite frankly, they dont care. Their excuse is that BMW doesnt actually make the software, but purchases it from another vendor. When I pay in excess of $83,000.00 for a vehicle, I expect to be able to use my phone and access my phone book from the navigation screen and not have to stop my car and use a Bluetooth earpiece to initiate or receive a phone call. It is incomprehensible to me why BMW does not contract with a software company that will allow BMW owners to use whatever cell phone they wish and have it work properly in the car. As it stands now, only the iPhone will work in BMWs and then only certain of those and then only some of the time. I will not have an iPhone and I shouldnt have to use a phone I dont want, after spending the better part of one hundred thousand dollars for a BMW.

Disappointing policy concerning factory tires that are sold with a new vehicle. Dont get caught in this SCAM, there is no warranty, so same day you purchase your new vehicle, if tires start losing air and you find there is a puncture. Too bad, you get to purchase a new tire out of pocket. You then purchase a new tire, same brand and model and the dealer warrants the new tire for 1 year? Huh. No offer from dealership or from the national headquarters of any discount or compensation for your trouble and issue. What type of customer service is this?? This is my first BMW so starting off with a very sour taste of things to come from this experience.

Recently purchased a 2016 BMW 228i. The vehicle was equipped with Driver Assistance Package that included Park Distance Control. A safety feature that warns the driver when approaching objects with sensors located both front and rear of the vehicle. A very useful feature to avoiding hitting objects and causing damage to the vehicle so I thought. The rear sensors are automatically activated ANYTIME when placing the vehicle in reverse and backing up. The front sensors are automatically activated when placing the car in REVERSE when first starting the PARKED vehicle BUT do not activate if placed in DRIVE. What good does having the front sensors on when going backwards and not on when going forward? Also, the front sensors automatically turn off after the car is in motion. You must manually activate the front sensors by pushing the button located near the gear shift lever. I did not know this. By forgetting to do this will not warn you of distance of an object in front of you to avoid an accident. In layman terms you forgot to turn on the front sensors beforehand causing you to hit an object and damaging the vehicle. In my case, I would have avoided hitting the curb causing damage underneath the front spoiler because I failed to activate the front sensors that I had no knowledge of at the time. BMW has a representative called a BMW Genius who teaches the new owner every aspects of the vehicle and the functionality of the vehicle. This would have been very useful had I been educated but unfortunately I was not.I contacted BMW customer service as well as the BMW Genius to advise them of the operation of the Park Distance Control and had the front sensors been activated I would have avoided causing an estimated repair bill of $600 to $700 dollars. What good is it if its not on? Should have I known that I was going to hit the curb and to activate the front sensors? Why do I not have to activate the rear sensors? The BMW representative is going to file a Formal Complaint on my behalf and thanked me for informing them of the situation and told me to have a pleasant day.

This has been the worst car I ever purchased (2000 BMW 323ci). The water pump has been replaced three times in five years. This is so unacceptable for a so-called “world-class” automobile. Every imaginable problem that could go wrong with this car, I have experienced… of course the standard… brake pads, clutch, hoses, etc. Those things are to be expected after a certain length of time. However, the same part ... You asked yourself, “Is it the mechanic? Was it the part?” Well, on 2 occasions, repairs were BMW authorized. Three were actual BMW dealerships. This car has cost me more than my sons college education, however, to BMW North Americas credit. I had a lovely lady named Medidah to help me with my sensor board. I had to pay labor which was ok; at least, someone cared and assisted. I wish I could afford another car, which I cant unfortunately. This car is paid off. My first new car (ever) I purchased. I was so happy to save money. I ordered exactly what I wanted. I paid it off in 3 years. Next car will be my Honda or Toyota, which I have owned previously. Both were great, inexpensive to maintain, and lasted long time. I shall never, ever purchase another BMW, even if I do love the x5 :(

I was told by an honest employee at BMW in GA that all plastic on the newer BMWs are recycled and sprayed on. I am now getting peeling plastic all over the inside of my car (2006 BMW 330i). My outside passenger lower panel is coming off because the screws are plastic and cheap and cant hold the panel, so the panel is falling off. My back window regulator which, again, is made of plastic, wont let me roll up my window. Once the window is down, its broken! It wont go back up!I hate BMWs. Like one mechanic told me, BMW has built these cars to break down. They dont want you getting 200,000 or 300,000 miles on them, any longer. They want them to be problematic so you take the car back to BMW for them to rip you off and say to hell with it, Ill buy another BMW! BMW is getting greedy, and they need to die a slow death. The remote key on my 2006 330xi stopped working and would not unlock the car. Once inside the car, I tried the central unlocking button on the dash. It locked the driver’s side door but did not control any of the other doors. Before leaving the car again, I therefore pushed down the lock buttons on the passenger and rear doors. At this point when I tried to open any of the 4 doors from inside the car using the door handles, they did not open. None of the car doors would open from inside the car. This is a frightening and potentially, a very dangerous defect in the cars design. BMW of NA will not acknowledge this as a defect or a safety issue. The only thing they are sure about is that they will not pay for it.

I purchased a 2008 BMW 335i as a second owner. Then, I discovered after the purchase that the title was branded lemon--manufacturer buy-back. Carfax did not have the word lemon until two years later when the state of California required the word lemon be added. Regardless, the BMW was a buy-back at 4,000 miles because the fuel pump failed. Eight months later, the below recall was issued:VOLUNTARY RECALL: BMW High-Pressure Fuel Pump Voluntary Emissions Recall--models w/ N54.The upshot of this is that my car was branded a lemon due to manufacturing failure but none of the cars post recall were branded as such. BMW refuses to intervene on my behalf to the California DMV, to reserve the title branding; thus, leaving my car worth 25% less than comparable values for this particular model. While trying to trade it at a BMW dealership, they confirmed that it wasnt worth 60% of comparable values.Doesnt BMW USA have a responsibility to make this right? None of this would have been known by me had I not seen a Carfax with the updated lemon language and had I not tried to sell the car, now with 35K miles on it. Please help me. BMW has flatly said that there is no recourse for me.

I purchased a used BMW 318 EDS last year, this is a 2010 plate with 50k coming with a full BMW service history. I thought it to be a good buy as its quoted The ultimate drive. Within 5k the clutch had gone (my previous Vauxhall did 150k on the original clutch). However I got it replaced and thought sometimes it happens. Now at 60k the timing chain has snapped! BMW do not want to know anything, not bothered, so what etc. I can honestly say a BMW is not the ultimate drive, its just a complete overpriced brand that provides no customer support for a used car. Apparently this timing chain is a known fault. However the quote by the customer services lady was there is no current campaign against the fault so we dont have to honour it. The repair bill is around 1500, so please be very wary of buying a used BMW as you may end up with a complete dog of a car like I own. I should have bought a Ford or Vauxhall. Ultimate drive… Ultimate money pit.

I recently visited the BMW service center in about my 2007 BMW 525i, 58K old car. It stalled on the road with a huge cloud of smoke behind the car on the coldest day of the winter and I had to tow the vehicle to the service center. I did not get an appointment initially. I was told it would take at least couple of days to see the vehicle. I had no choice but leaving the vehicle at the service center. It took 10 days to get my vehicle back. I did not get the vehicle completely fixed and problem free. Nobody trust the owner of the car when I said I never found a single problem till it was stalled on the road.I was charged $2k initially. When I asked for the bad spark plugs which were replaced as part of the process, I was told they were disposed, then the representative went inside and found unused parts lying around the car and reduced that part price from the $2k he initially charged and gave me a new receipt. If I had not asked for spark plugs, I would have paid $2k and returned losing my money for the unused parts brought as part of my invoice. I am not confident if they have really replaced the parts that they are saying they did as part of the service contract. Now my car makes a chopper sound. It rattles like a old car out from the junk yard. The service manager says it could have existed before and it is continuing which is not true as nobody trust the car owner. The service guy told me that my engine is hydro locked and says that he never saw such problem in his entire experience and says that he do not know how to fix this. I am left to live with the problem. I smell the burnt odor when I drive. I do not know if it is a major problem or not. I was told if I drive the car for 1000 miles, the burnt smell will go away. One more surprising thing is, I was told they removed the entire engine oil from the engine. When they did that, is it not their responsibility to fill it back to normal level? They did not do it and told me I have to drive at least 1000 miles do get rid of the burnt smell and delivered the car. I took the car home, before I reached home it threw an error message saying the Engine Oil Levels are below minimum. What kind of service is that? Do they want to ruin my car and make me buy a new one or leave the car for more repairs and get looted? When I contacted the service center about the Engine Oil Levels, service manager asks me to come down to top off with one quart of oil. I asked him how can they deliver the car with engine oils at so minimum levels after service? I got no satisfactory answer. I have to leave the car for half day at the service center requesting (begging would be a right word here) to service my car paying $120+ more.I have no peace of mind with the car. All these problems clearly state that if you are out of warranty, just sell the car and get rid of the hassles. 58k on my car shows that it is still a baby. But the problems on the car are very scary. It is just the appearance and from inside BMW is the most problematic car I have ever experienced. I have to always worry about the battery draining because of the continuous checking of computers. The display throws all sorts of problems. Some times it stops working. Display is not a wear out part so early. Why should a customer worry about the car all the time? I have gone thru the forums. A lot of problems with 525 series. Why dont you guys recall and fix the problems? Why should the customer suffer so much paying for all the hot fixes you forgot in the first place while releasing the model? I am a very good driver and I maintain the cars very perfectly servicing them every 5k miles and taking good care. I have a Honda Odyssey 2007 model. Hassle free, not a single problem till now. Cars should be like that, hassle free. BMW is proving that luxury is a pain and a hole in customer pocket. If BMW is trustworthy as it claims, then please fix my car with no additional costs, as you did not fix the problem in the first case, despite charging me so much money and time. I hope someone will respond positively to this painful email. If not I will definitely will not buy a BMW in my life again and would not recommend to anyone. It is really painful knowing that BMW is so poorly serving customers not fixing the cars problems properly and driving customers to buy new cars.

I bought a 2007 BMW 550i with 50000 miles on it. So far I have spent almost 2000 in repairs but nothing has really been fixed, my transmission hard shifts between 1 and 2nd same downshifting, it jerks when taking off basically giving you whiplash starting off. Ive had the car reprogrammed twice, all that did was turn my entertainment screen sea green. They say I need a valve body which is a $2000 dollar part inside the transmission which my aftermarket warranty would not cover because they said since its electrical they wont cover it. But the warranty states they cover internal tranny parts which is another rip off these warranty companies. AC compressor failed, water pump failed. Suspension sucks, it shakes. Have bought new tires and like 5 wheel balancings and still vibrates at 60 mph. And the car only has 61000 miles on it right now. This is my second BMW, they both sucked, spent way too much repairing these cars and time wasted. It will be my last BMW and the dealer will not address most of these problems, they recommend getting just a whole new part so 40,00 miles later that part will do the same crap. Fail!

I purchased this 2008 pre-owned BMW in July and it is under the warranty. Only one month later, the engine light is on so I have to go for the maintenance. One month later, the right rear light is not working so i have to go to the dealer again. What really troubles me is that last weekend I am waiting for my friends in my car which only without the engine in 20-30 minutes, the battery is dead. When I called roadside assistance from BMW, this guy cannot even find where the battery is located and he tried to connect his equipment with something looks like battery besides the engine. When I pointed out to him that the battery may be located in the back, he used his equipment which is not fully charged to jumper my car. Of course, it did not work so he insisted that it is my battery problem and even told me to tow the car on the next Monday. And I called BMW again to ask for sending a professional roadside assistance to me, which should not be the previous one. They promised the new guy will come in two hours. It is already 10pm on Sat night. After two hours, it is close to 12am, the old guy called me again and said BMW send him again and he wont come anyway. I am so frustrated. I have to call my friend to pick me up and interestingly, my friend used his jumper and it worked. It should be much easier but BMW assistance just made things more and more complicated.

I purchased a brand new 2006 525i. It has been my dream car, and I was excited to make this new purchase. I have kept regular service and maintenance on this vehicle, and keep it in the garage at all times when I am at home. I have another car that I drive to work during the week, so the BMW is mainly used as my weekend vehicle. About four years later, I noticed the paint starting to wear on the hood. Then about three or four months after that, the paint on the roof of the car started to fade, and lastly the paint on the trunk of the car, noticed fading. I took it to Tom Williams and spoke with the service manager and the regional manager, who was scheduled to be in town that day. They took my vehicle to one of the service men, and he stated that it looked like soap may have been left on the car and that it could be buffed out. From there, they informed me to take it to their Collision Center to have it buffed out. The servicemen at the Collision Center told me that they could not buff it out and that it was a defect in the clear coat that was originally put on the car. I was given an 800 number from the servicemen at BMW, and from there, they told me that my vehicle was out of warranty. I took it to a few other local body shops, and they informed me of the same thing; that it was the clear coat that was poorly applied. The local serviceman asked me if I had the car shipped, and I answered yes. I special ordered this vehicle and had it shipped here to the U.S. He informed me that he had other customers who had the same complaint and that it may have been the salt water that caused the paint fade. He informed me that it was a water-borne clear coat that was initially put on the car, and that it was a poor type of paint that is not designed to last for the amount of money that consumers pay for this type of vehicle. This is my dream car, and it is very disappointing to know that I invested this much money in a vehicle to have to drive around with fading paint. I have a Toyota that I have had and driven for 15 years now, and the paint is still intact, and it puzzles me that and after five years the paint on my BMW is worn.

I purchased a 2011 X5 brand new from the factory back in 2011 and was experiencing some squeaking noises coming from the front end of the car. I complained to my servicing dealer about the problem back in 2011 or 2012 and they never took any action on the problem. However fast forward to 2013, the problem got worse and occurred on a frequent basis which was very embarrassing to me. In May of this year, my U-joint broke. My truck was down for about 2 1/2-3 weeks. During this time I complained about the squeaking noise as well. The U-joint was repaired; however, the truck was still making the squeaking noise. Took the truck back to the dealer for the noise. The truck was down again for about another 2 weeks. However the squeaking noise was still occurring. I took the truck back again but I was told by my service advisor he didnt hear the noise so I should record it when I hear it and email him the noise so that he could send it to the shop foreman. I did so and returned the truck to the dealer. The truck was down for another 2-3 weeks and when I got it back, the squeaks turned into a whining noise. In addition to the fact that I now had oil leaks. At this point, I took the truck back to the dealer and filed complaints with the BBB, Consumer Affairs in addition to contacting BMW N. America. I was told that due to the mileage and age of my truck that BMW was not liable for the issues I was having with my truck thus they would not provide me with a new vehicle or provide a sufficient monetary amount to buy out my finance contract, etc. I am very disappointed that a luxury vehicle has performed so poorly and BMW does not want to immediately take responsibility for a defective product. However they did offer me $2k for my inconvenience on the condition that I sign a confidentiality agreement which would release them of all responsibility of any issues I may have with my vehicle past present and future in addition to agreeing to not disclose the nature of my experience with the defects and failures of my vehicle.

I paid for a platinum extended warranty on my 2008 BMW X5 to extend coverage to 7 years or 100,000 miles. I did so because of the numerous major problems I had with the vehicle after initial purchase. During a routine service at Freehold BMW in NJ, I was told that I needed thrust bushings replaced at a cost of over $1,000. When I asked if they were covered under the platinum warranty, they said no. I went to BMWs website and found that they are listed as covered. When I pursued this with both the dealer and BMW USA, I was told that they are not covered if replacement is due to normal wear and tear and that I failed to read the small print on their website. They said if it was a defect in the product, they would cover it. So I guess everything that I paid for under this contract is subjective based on their opinion. They do not even identify which items specifically are subject to this wear and tear clause. So I guess if my navigation system breaks, they will claim I used it too much! I will never buy another BMW again. BTW, I never had these corporate integrity problems with my Mercedes or Infiniti cars. Escalation to Managing Supervisor at BMW N.A. doesnt help either. All you get is the dealer blaming corporate and corporate blaming the dealer. What a scam these extended warranties are.

I bought a brand new BMW 530i in 2004. Since I am an independent consultant in the software industry and often work at home, I dont drive that much so until yesterday, it has only about 80,000 miles on it. I was driving on a bridge in San Francisco Bay Area in a slow traffic yesterday, both transmission and engine burned down suddenly (with regular maintenance). The car has been giving me troubles from the first week after I bought it. Whenever I drove in slow traffic, the on board computer will show a warning to tell me Transmission Fault. I have to pull over to turn the engine off and turn it back on again; otherwise, I cant drive it.My BMW - I was told the three letters can be translated into Dont Touch Me into Chinese - finally dead yesterday. I paid $400 to tow it to a BMW (dont touch me!) dealership near where I live, and just got a call from them and told me the total cost to repair is more than $16,000. I am filling a form online to donate the BMW junk to a charity now. In my will, I will ask my son not to buy Dont touch me in his life, and ask him to tell his son not to do so neither.

After receiving a recall letter from BMW for the brake vacuum pump (recall campaign no. 10v-446), I took the car to Crevier BMW but was told they didnt have the part. I never heard back from Crevier BMW, and I forgot about it until the brakes completely failed without warning. I had the car towed to the nearest dealer in Irvine. They replaced the vacuum supply line but not the vacuum pump. They recommended that I replace the leaking vacuum pump at my cost of over $900. The description of the problem included in the recall letter from BMW specifically indicates that the leak from the vacuum pump into the vacuum hose is the root of the problem. I spoke to Jody ** at BMW and she said that the recall is a federal mandate and this mandate only requires them to replace the line and not the pump.I have owned BMW cars for more than 12 years, you would think they would stand behind their product and keep a loyal customer happy. They truly do not care about the customer. They will only take care of the problem if the car is leased and/or under warranty, and even then, theyll put off the work until the car is out of warranty.I have had a new 750Li since 2006. From the beginning, the engine oil light would come on and I would have to take the car in to be topped off. I kept asking why I had to do this so often and they assured me that it was normal for the 750. I had a new 745 before this car and I never had this problem. I didnt worry about it since there was no sign of a leak on my garage floor. Now that the car is out of warranty, they tell me that there is a leak.

I purchased a new 325i in 04 and drove it for 11 years. For the first 100,000 miles, it had absolutely zero issues. Never had to take it in unless for an oil/battery change. Overall I was very pleased with having purchased a German car, until it reached 140k miles. In a 6 month span, my 04 325i (worth only $5,000) has broken down SEVEN times. In this timeframe I have invested close to $7,000 solely in repairs. This car has broken down on the side of the road (needed new fuel pump, $700), the window motor needed to be replaced ($600), crack in radiator (had to replace entire radiator, $1,400), needed new air pump and strut replaced ($1,800) yet another radiator replacement ($1000), and finally, when I started my car the exhaust spewed white smoke with the smell of gas (hoses and valves and a gasket were replaced, $1,400). Do NOT purchase a BMW or any German car for that matter. These cars are completely unreliable and not meant to be driven for hundreds of thousands of miles. There is a reason dealerships will only cover maintenance for the first 90k miles. Dont be penny smart and dollar stupid! These foreign cars are not worth it!

On July 31, 2011, I bought my first and last BMW. I bought a brand new X3. I loved the car at first and then months in, the problems started happening. Let me first state that when I bought my X3, the back hatch did not open and close properly. The struts were broken. The first time I had issues, I was driving and the dash alerted me that my back hatch was open when in fact it was closed. Then the alert went away, but my hazards started flashing. I called the service department and they had me bring my vehicle in. They tried to tell me that because the struts were broken, it was tripping the system. So they fixed the struts.A month later, while I stopped at a stop light, my back hatch opened all on its own. Then within that same week, while driving up my drive way at a speed of 15mph, my back hatch opened all on its own again. So I called the service department again. And again I took my car to the service department. They kept my car for almost a week, only to conclude that they couldnt duplicate the problem. Therefore, they couldnt fix the problem. Another month goes by. While driving on the freeway, this time the dash alerted me: 1) Back hatch open. Then the alert goes away moments later; 2) The hazards start flashing; 3) The windshield wipers start swiping, and the windshield wiper fluid starts spraying; 4) And an alert on my dash states, Windshield wiper system failure. That alert flashed twice.I currently have my car in the service department and I’m at my wit’s end. I thought this company built good, dependable cars. All I have experienced is problems. My car isnt even a year old. The company has told me that in order to buy back my car, I have to pay them $3,500. I think that’s totally unacceptable. I never want to do business with BMW again.

I had my car serviced and a day and a half later after I paid 1800.00 to fix it, the same lights came back on. I took it back and they tell me it cost another 11,000. If I knew it was going to cost that, I wouldve fixed it for the 1800. I also had a oil change and the same oil light coming on and they didnt put a sticker up for my next oil service. I feel like they took advantage of me being a woman. I have all the texts that the service guy was texting on my car for poor service they did.

I purchased a 2018 BMW X5 in 2017. We bought a brand new vehicle so I wouldn’t have to be having car trouble. I’ve owned the vehicle about 14 months and it has had 2 engine malfunctions within one year. The vehicle just starts shaking and completely shuts off! Both times it happened in the freeway were cars are driving a constant speed of over 55 miles. Luckily I was able to just merge to the side of the freeway without causing an accident. Very bad experience just thinking I could of put my kids in danger since the engine just shuts off out of nowhere. This last time we were stranded in the grapevine where there was no stores or gas station close by just waiting for the tow truck to arrive. Both times my car has been in service for over a week. I am trying to request a replacement for a car that is not faulty or if they can just reimburse me what I’ve paid for and return the vehicle. I am very disappointed. We thought that one of the best car makers were BMW and it has let me down especially for the price.

They took a week saying that replaced rotor, motor. After that it was delivered back to me but issue still exists then they took the car back again. Said that there an issue with computer diagnostics. I called BMW to replace the vehicle with these many issues in two weeks and I cant feel comfortable with that vehicle anymore. They said that we cant able to replace it. Dont know the reason. Please help me out how to go legally against BMW for the brand new vehicle that has these many issues in two weeks time.

I cant believe that this car would need new tires with only this mileage? The front is fine so tell me how does this happen? Hope CEO HAS TO BUY TIRES ON REAR OF CAR. This is the most ridiculous thing that has ever happened to me in all the cars I have owned. Cant believe for the $$$$ of this car that this could really be the truth that you are not telling anyone? Not very impressed now with this company. Now I am going to get alignment and buy 2 new tires for a $100,000.00 car with only 22k miles on it? Hope people that work there get to experience this?

I had a significant engine oil pan gasket leak requiring a costly repair with a 41/2 year old 2009 BMW 535 at 57,751 miles in December 2014. On this occasion BMW were very responsive and promptly reimbursed 90% of my costs. I have now had an identical but even more costly repair at an even lower mileage, 47,983 with a 2013 X5 with the same engine. On this occasion BMW have been leading me on a circle jerk routine for nearly a month. My question is therefore, is this a systemic problem with this engine or have I just been unlucky?

My transmission needed a $3000 part which had been replaced less than 2 years earlier near San Diego, CA. BMWs warranty for parts purchased from their dealerships has a 2-year part and labor warranty. The part was replaced at Ontario BMW (now Penske) of Southern California under warranty free as confirmed by the customer service manager named Gary at Ontario BMW. And after the repair in a very unexpected manner, the BMW reps at BMW of North America rejected the repair because the repair was not done at the San Diego BMW dealer where the original repair was performed. The possible caveat that the transmission parts be replaced at the original part of service was never mentioned to me by any of BMWs official agents and representatives. The car is now fixed. And because it was not done in the original dealership in San Diego, they literally want to dismantle my BMWs transmission (basically redamage it) and make me pay for towing to San Diego to redo the repair. Not only does this make no financial $$ sense for me or even for BMWs own dealership, but its a poor and senseless, useless decision that violates BMWs own warranty policies. Please intervene and quickly shut this case in our favor since my request is beneficial for all sides involved. The warranty was honored as stated by BMWs agents and since no one at BMW knew of this hidden caveat, it makes no sense since my BMW broke down in Ontario, California. Thanks!

I bought a x5 2009 with 36.000 miles. Because I never had good reviews about BMW cars and my wife want this car so much, I bought a extended warranty for $5000. Now the car is 51000 miles and it is leaking oil from the valve cover and is leaking oil from the main seal and needs motor mount. The car is service at BMW. The technician said he was going to have to lower the engine and transmission in order to change the main seal. Also, he said BMW that doesnt leak oil is not a BMW (sarcastic). $2000 job, thanks God I bought the extended warranty. My last car was a 2002 Acura mdx, drove 9 years, put 187,000 miles, never leak any oil and the only money I spent in that car was a tune up I did when the car was around 120.000 miles. My next car will be a Lexus gx460, the real ultimate drive machine!! Bmw is good for the rich people, they lease for 2 years then return and get another one. Bmw cars after 2 years of use, it start to fall apart.

I contacted BMW customer relations as my sunroof was not closing properly. I had extended warranty but I received a follow-up call to notify me that BMW would not honor the repairs. My request for an additional escalation path was denied by Paige and Erin (customer service manager/supervisor) because according to them, they were at the highest level. I requested the physical street address for the corporate office in NJ, in which I was also denied. They do not escalate cases and if you open a complaint, they do not tell you what they would do with that. They also refuse to send you a letter, which gives the reason for denial. BMW customer relations sucks big time!

I purchased this BMW 2011 740 li for my wife 9/14 with $55k miles from BMW Murrieta. We have barely had this car two years and has been in the shop 75 days with over $23k paid in repairs. Problems began immediately after we purchased the car. BMW Murrieta told me this car had a thorough 180 point inspection, rear brakes were gone in 300 miles. I took it back and complained, BMW Murrieta warrantied the rear brakes and rotors. 58k Miles - noise in front end, diagnosed as thrust rod bushings, those were replaced. 59K miles, seat motors go out, replaced those. 60k miles - noise in the rear - cv joints went out, replace those. 61k miles, power steering pump starts leaking and making noise, belt tensioner fails as well. Replaced both as well as the accessory belt. 62k miles, check engine light comes on, fuel tank supply line / pressure sensor fails, replaced those, 68k miles, check engine light comes on - turbo low pressure, replaced, gaskets, collars and vacuum lines. 70k miles check engine light comes on, turbo low pressure - turbo failed, replaced turbos and pressure converters. All good for a while. 89k miles, check engine light comes on - fuel injectors fail, replaced all fuel injectors. 92k miles check engine light comes on - transmission leaks all over driveway and slipping. Replaced inner mechatronics seal, fluid, pan and seal. 102k miles check engine light comes on, car overheating - water pump fails, replace water pumps, coolest and various gaskets, seals. 103k miles check engine light comes on - vacuum lines on turbo fail again, also replaced valve cover, gaskets and more sensors. 103.5k miles, transmission cooler leaking, replace cooler and lines. Anyone who doesnt believe me, I have all the service records I would be happy to post.During all this time, BMW Murrieta never recommends that a factory inspector come look at the car for all the issues, BMW America never reaches out to us for any customer service (not sure if they would know this car was in the shop so much unless the dealer would have told them). I call BMW America to see if they can help us at all with all the issues on the car. They open a case to inspect service records, all the money we have spent on repairs at the shop, all the down time, etc. This gets escalated to a gentleman named Kurt ** - Executive Customer Care (the title actually sounds like they care, THEY DONT!!) Two weeks later they call me and tell me the BMW does not meet their criteria for any kind of help. He tells me they wont buy it back, I tell him I dont want or expect them to buy it back. I tell him, Im just hoping you would take a look at the service records, all the money I have spent repairing this car (over half of what I paid for it), take into consideration all the stress, frustration, down time, rental cars, etc. and see if you can help me in any way keep this thing on the road and out of the dealers mechanic bay. Maybe some help with a trade or maybe some kind of help with an extended warranty, he tells me they cannot do anything, the service records and time in the shop do not meet any of their criteria for help.I will never ever buy another BMW in my life. This car has been the biggest joke amongst friends and family. They all warned me not to buy a BMW, especially a used one, even if its a CPO or not, doesnt matter if you buy it from the dealer or not. Once you take the car, youre on your own. BMW will not help you with any issues you have. This BMW is the most unreliable car I have ever owned period. Ill stick to my Chevys, Fords and Hondas.

It is still under the 50,000 mile warranty criteria, but over the time limit. I received no satisfaction from the dealer or BMW customer service for replacing the pump at no cost or reduced cost to me. Apparently BMW values dollars over customer service and reliability. I absolutely love the 2017 BMW 7-Series. This is my second BMW and its my all time favorite. This car drives like nothing I have driven before. I had owned a series 3 prior to this purchase and found that it was easy to park, but just not big enough for everything we do. That was the main determining factor in purchasing this car. The leg room in the back is what you find in the front seat. No worrying about the front seat hitting your knees when the front seat is adjusted. With the front seats as far back as possible, there is still ample leg room, even for a tall person. The only thing that I have an issue about is the hefty repair charges. In the previous car, quite a bit after the warranty expired, I needed some repairs done. After purchasing the new model, we found the repair bill for the old car. It was nearly the amount that we put down as the cash deposit. Repairs can get expensive but it is worth it. All the controls are easy to read and figure out. The music that comes with the car is phenomenal. I have never heard speakers sound this good in factory sound system. Typically if you want sounds this good you would need to purchase a new stereo package as an after purchase add on. Also, the way it hugs the corners and curves is unbelievable. This is the smoothest ride ever.

I purchased my dream car 4 years ago. I was so excited but then for the last 3 yrs, I have been taking my 645ci to BMW of Annapolis complaining about my transmission. Each time, they told me they couldnt duplicate the problem but took care of other issues. I had a 3rd party warranty that they charged close to $14,000. Not once could they diagnose the problems with transmission. The last few times I took it, the transmission malfunction light was on. One of the service advisers even saw it. But again I was told they couldnt duplicate the problem. In May 2017, I again took it there since my light came on again. They had my car for weeks, but I was told to pick up the car. They couldnt duplicate the problem. A few weeks later, my car would not go in reverse and the transmission light came on again. I called and spoke to the Service Manager Steve **. He told me to bring it to him and they will take a look at it. Well, my husband was able to get it there and told him that the car would not go into reverse, reminded them that I just had it there for the transmission issue and showed picture of the transmission light. Once again, I was told they couldnt duplicate the problem. Their foreman sent me an email stating he reviewed all my previous complaints (which a documented in email) and stated they couldnt duplicate the problem, but that I needed a new transmission shifter selector lever ($1,500) but couldnt guarantee that would take care of the problem. Also stated in email that he notice they showed a pattern of low voltage issues (which I never was told before). My warranty expired the beginning of this year (due to time on mileage). Not once was I informed of the low voltage issues and nothing was ever done about my complaints of the transmission. This would have all been covered but now it is not. I contacted the corporate office, Group 1 Auto. They are the owners of BMW of Annapolis. I received a call from Steve ** from their office. I had him on a conference call with my husband so he could explain our issues. While my husband talked to him, Mr. ** snickered several times while my husband was talking. My husband asked if they was laughing at him. I found the snickering very rude. All I wanted was some kind of resolution with my car. I wanted to know why the transmission light kept coming on (both my husband & I have had problems with the shifting or slipping of the transmission). We were never given an answer. I didnt want to put $1,500 into the car and that not be the problem. I wanted answers. Instead I got we need the loaner car back and Do you want us to put in shifter? Well it turns out Steve ** was at the BMW service department. He told us on the phone we need the loaner back and we will not do any work on your car so please take it to a different BMW service department. I have never in my life been treated in this manner. They couldnt figure out the problem and instead of calling the Corporate Team (which I found out BMW has to figure out problems like this), they wouldnt work with us.My husband ended up getting the car (with no reverse), and noticed damage to the dashboard and curb straps (that were not there when car dropped off). He also had to call the police in order to get the information on who actually worked on our car (test drove it and tried to diagnosis) since BMW would not give him that information. Now I am without a working car, a broken dashboard and still do not know what is wrong with the transmission. I dont understand how it got to this point. Why were the experts not called when they couldnt duplicate the problem. Especially when I told them I was having problems in 2014? This could have been avoided had they taken the extra steps. I understand parts need to be replaced, but I feel it was never diagnosed properly. I am in total disgust. This has given BMW a bad name.

I have owned several cars, and in the modern Era, the E60 535i started off with tons of trouble, along with my X6M. My E85 Z4 was an amazing car, even if it was not a drivers car with the electronic steering, but I loved it. I got the 535i as a daily driver. Water pumps (2), fuel pumps (2), disintegrating chargepipe, multiple injector replacements (2x had all of them replaced), the mystery 30ff error nobody can fix, the seat mat/airbag issue, the wastegate rattle and it would not be a BMW without a leaky valve cover gasket. There was always something wrong. So I bought an X6M a few months ago. Airbag recall, battery recall, injector recall... I have owned E30s, E9, E38, E39, E85 and an E31. Mostly trouble-free cars, then came the turbos and BMWs total inability to make a good engine that does not start causing issues, interiors that look dated and recalls that keep it parked more than I drive it. Even the driving experience has gone to hell.

I recently bought a used 2011 BMW X6 with 42K miles. The vehicle was owned by a friend of mine and she was the original owner. The X6 was serviced by BMW dealer and at recommended intervals. After two weeks, the car wont start and had it towed to an independent shop. The diagnosed was the VVT motor and DME unit (Digital Motor Electronic) were bad and total replacement for parts and labor comes to $4,700. The mechanic informed me that he has seen this issue many times and normally happens at 90-100K miles and not 42K miles. The mechanic said I should call BMW of North America to see if they would reimburse the cost. BMW refused stating the car no longer under warranty. IMO, BMW products are crapped and expensive to repair and I will never buy their cars and let people know not to buy their cars since they dont stand behind their products. Their cars are overpriced and a piece of junk.

We were disagree the new cost and agree to let BMW Financial Services to do the final appraisal. Today we have received invoice for total $2563.30 (Extra charge: $400 Excessively Worn Tires or mismatched Tires and $1000 Exterior Excess Wear). To all that might take an interest in this; this is my first time posting on any consumer complaint forum. So hopefully people dont make the mistake of purchasing a 2009-2014 BMW with an N63 engine and affects five different vehicle classes. These cars are lemons with a long history of mechanical problems, and a class action lawsuit filed in 2015 for excessive oil consumption, drained batteries, and other problems affected by the oil cooled parts inside the car. Visit: ** to see full notice of the court documents, and full story. The final date for filing any paperwork to claim your vehicle under the class action was October 10th 2018. Too bad BMW has failed to properly notify owners about this, and still continue to sell these cars without advising anyone about the litigation behind them.In August 2016 I purchased a used 2012 BMW 750LI M Sport with 38,482 miles. The car was sold to me by a private dealership in Los Angeles, and was a one owner lease return that originated from BMW of Santa Monica, CA. The car had a clear title, and free of defects, and I paid 42K out the door price with tax & extended warranty to protect me through 100K miles for any possible mechanical issues that could arise with the car. Since that time Ive had nothing but problems since I bought it that started with minor things like ignition coils, spark plugs, and check engine lights. Excessive oil consumption was noticed immediately the first year I owned it, and constantly had to top off the oil. Ive meticulously maintained the car since Ive had it and always taken to a certified BMW mechanic. The BMW service centers I dont trust as far as I can throw them, and use a preferred & HONEST BMW mechanic. In July 2018 I took my car into the shop to diagnose several issues going on with the car which now has 92K miles. I wanted to have my mechanic check everything including doing a brake fluid flush, and oil change prior to making another drive into Southern California from Nevada where I currently live. After inspection my mechanic mentioned that the motor was falling apart; The car had leaking turbo hoses, upper oil pan gasket leak, bad steering pump, excessive oil consumption problems, and the engine valve stem seals were shot and explained why smoke would come out of the tailpipe during cold starting, and lastly an electric short underneath the drivers seat that scorched the material underneath and could have caught fire at some point had it continued. In all I was facing $15,000 dollars to complete all repairs. We contacted my extended warranty company who handled the situation great. Due to the extent of the engine problems they sent out an adjuster to verify everything and audited my service records to ensure the car had been properly maintained, and also had video scope photos taken inside the engine of oil cooled timing chain to verify there was no engine deposits or oil gunk build up. It was clean as a whistle, and they indicated since the repairs exceeded the value of new engine they authorized a complete engine replacement in addition to fixing the electrical problems with my seat. The engine was ordered through a BMW dealership in Las Vegas NV in August, and now here we are in November 2018 and still no sign of the engine or status on when we can expect to receive it. Since July Ive had a loaner, and paid out of pocket for extensive rental fees, paying for an auto loan on a car that I cant even drive with still $24K left on it, and have had to register the vehicle as non-operable with the state DMV.After repeated attempts to get a status on the engine by myself personally and my mechanic to get a status on the replacement engine; we still have no information, and appears to be no end in sight. The only reasoning behind the delay of the engine is that they cant find anyone to make a drive camshaft on this motor. The third party company that used to make this part went out of business and they have no alternative currently. Sounded like complete B.S. to me, and I called them on it stating that it sounded like an excuse. At this point Im extremely pissed off, and decided to email BMW Group Germany to ask them if they really cared about their customers. I found the CEO & other executive level members of BMW email addresses including their press secretary. I emailed them and demanded a response to this nonsense with the engine replacement.A couple days later I received a voicemail from a Craig ** @ BMW North America customer care stating that he was calling because I was interested in a RE-PURCHASE of the vehicle. I had missed the call because I was on a business trip. I had no clue what a re-purchase entailed or what the qualifications were, but it was something that THEY suggested. I called back the very next morning which was on a Friday, and he didnt answer so left a message to call me back as soon as possible to discuss what hed mentioned on my voicemail. He waited three days to call me back and returned my call on October 10th 2018. We discussed the re-purchase over the phone which entailed buy back 100% of the vehicle financing, maintenance, and oil used for the car that I had to top off constantly. I loved that option and expressed my interest to get me out of this situation. He said that unfortunately the deadline had passed to have my paperwork submitted under the class action settlement... I said What settlement? I had no clue what he meant. He then said yeah youre calling about the class action lawsuit right? I told him that nobody had ever notified me at any point by mail, phone, or email about a class action lawsuit. Confused he said that well the deadline is October 10th is the deadline to have your request submitted for compensation under the class action. I told Craig that You know today is October 10th right?; He confirmed this and said that there was nothing he could do to consider me for the class action since it was past the deadline as of that day, and apologized for the inconvenience. So I contact BMW - Germany, they contact Craig ** @ BMW North America to ask me about a re-purchase, and then only to tell me that Im past the deadline and theres nothing he could do. WTF? How does this make any sense? Why am I now just finding out about this class action lawsuit?? I became more irate and phoned the BMW dealership that we ordered my new engine from, and demanded to talk to a service manager or parts department manager. I told them on the phone that during this whole time my car has been in the shop, and wed been asking for a status on the engine, or alternatives to put me into another car. I asked them directly if they knew about this class action lawsuit pertaining to my engine? When I cornered them they paused on the phone & said... Yes we knew about it. I said then, Why did you not say anything about it this whole time?? Why was this kept a secret or not disclosed? The person at BMW stated that they were instructed by higher ups not to say anything about it to owners because it was in litigation, and the car owners would be notified at the appropriate time. They continued the same story about the drive camshaft holding up the production of these replacement motors, and that there was roughly 185 of these engines on back order in the entire country. WOW... talk about a cover up right? I hung up the phone on him, and proceeded to email BMW Group Germany again explaining what I just found out, and that dealerships are hiding this information from people to minimize their exposure & loss due to the class action. The very next day after I sent that 2nd email I got a call from Craig ** @ BMW North America again stating that theyd be willing to review my case again as a re-purchase option. I proceeded to email Craig my entire file from the shop that we gave my extended warranty company, and all associated service records. Craig said hed send it out to his field team to be reviewed and a determination would be emailed to me once they made their decision on the matter. After waiting a week I emailed Craig to get a status on the re-purchase decision. He contacted me saying that BMW North America had reviewed my case and have declined to approve my re-purchase request. He would not give any reason as to WHY they were rejecting it, and would not tell me who this field team was. He said he was not able to name the individuals or dealerships that make the decision for their Protection. Protection from what??They also noted on the rejection letter that their last record of service/maintenance records was in February of 2017 which was not true. I had my car serviced at my own BMW certified mechanic, and provided records for that work done, but BMW refused to acknowledge that in their letter to me. So now here are the facts.BMW continues to sell these vehicles and dealerships are intentionally not advising people that there is litigation behind them starting in 2015 when the class action was filed. BMW offered an N63 Customer Care Package at one point to put a band aid on the problem; not calling it a recall, but just making the cars last long enough to make it out of their factory warranties leaving them not liable past that point. BMW has not provided any information or status on when new engines that are paid for out of pocket or by warranty are due to be received. Stating a drive camshaft issue is preventing delivery of these engines with no end in sight. As a consumer I AM SCREWED. No car for almost 6 months, and no money to buy a new one or sell this one to get out of my current loan so I can buy something else. Without delivery of this motor my car is worthless, and no options. BMW Group Germany and BMW North America have zero control of this situation, and dealerships refusing to help take ownership of these problems. This is consumer fraud at its finest, and deliberate false statements, misinformation, are being fed to the public about these N63 motors. The 2009-2014 N63 motors are an aging group entering into high mileage and engines are crapping out with less than 100K miles on them. This is snake oil folks, and BMW knows it. The class action settlement proves the excessive oil consumption problems, and now these same engines are failing with the valve stem seals resulting in repair costs that exceed a new engine cost. They have not done their best to advise the public of this and Im sure theres hundreds of people that might be able to relate to my story. If you have purchased one of these vehicles recently from a dealer, or have extensive repairs resulting in the requirement of a new engine that BMW is not delivering on please email me immediately so we can talk. Right now I know three other people in the Las Vegas area that are affected by this. We need others in the country to step forward & share your story and put a stop to this. BMW & Car Dealerships have screwed the public long enough, and now they need to take ownership of a crappy mass produced product theyve put out into the market. Even if you buy an extended warranty youre still not safe; BMW does not have an answer for this, and if you need an engine replacement youll be waiting until next year. The biggest issue here is that BMW knows that their warranties are nowhere even close to sufficient with the well known documented issues behind these cars. They continue to sell these vehicles used and keep the information hidden from consumers. This is fraud! Look at the new class action filed this November 18. BMW has been defrauding its customers for years on these faulty motors, and continue to get rich. Someone needs to put a stop to this asap. The evidence is there, and plenty of public record & consumer complaints... how are these guys still in business?? If youve been taken advantage of please do the following: File a complaint with your State Attorney Generals office - Contact your local news media - Theres three of us here in Las Vegas affected by this and wed be happy to give a statement & tell our story. If we dont make enough noise this will never stop!

We have BMW 750i 2006 model... We had driven about 70k miles when we started having problems. We had regular maintenance on the car and major service when required. We found the car with way more problems with engine. Alternator. Engine oil leak and a/c evaporator core. We had driven before a Lexus 300 for 250000 miles and we never face these many issues. Similar experience with BMW 328i 2009 driven for 66000 miles and problem with a/c evaporator core. Replacement cost 2750 - we think BMW has issues with engineering and design and lot of costly repairs. We will never buy the BMW brand again ever...

I bought a CPO - BMW E92 M3 2008 model, which had done 39,000 miles. Car was good. Clutch was hard from the beginning. Just drove 4000 miles over a period of 3 months... and then I keep hearing this click sound every time I changed gear... and the car diagnostic showed no problem. But when I went for servicing, they told me… broken pressure plates which I paid $2400 to get it fixed, and told me its not covered under CPO. I was very upset. Then after a week I got the car and just driving the car for 100 miles, the clutch gets stuck to the floor and I almost missed a major car accident. I was this close to death… because the car halted at 40 mph in the middle of the road. I am so disappointed with BMW. The car is still under CPO.

I purchased a certified pre owned (CPO) 2006 325i sedan from Center BMW in Sherman Oaks, CA. with 54k miles for less than $30k. I was 24 years old, recent college grad, and just bought my dream car, I was happy. Within a year of purchasing, I experienced problems. The dealership fixed whatever was under warranty for the next 2 years (as per the CPO warranty). In the 6 years I have had this car, I have put on 63 miles, so now it is over 100k miles. I took care of my car and gave it whatever attention it needed, right away.Once the warranty was over, I experienced more problems that I had to pay for on my own: new Xenon headlight, all 6 pistons back firing (at different times over the 6 years), transmission gave out, power window on rear passenger side broke, window locks broke, driver side door handle/lock broke, display on radio broke, starter broke, rear view mirror broke off window, interior of steering wheel peels off, rear window molding had to be replaced twice, driver window motor stalls, passenger front door lock motor stalls, molding around passenger rear window leaks and water gets in with rain/car wash.Molding of roof racks peeling, car rattles when you turn the wheels to the furthest point possible while driving, especially on an incline, car rattles/shakes when the AC is on and car is at a complete stop, AC turns on automatically randomly, exterior lights on drivers side stay on when car is off and locked (randomly), BMW symbol on hood peeled and faded, and there is a loud, embarrassing rattle coming from underneath the car.For 20% of these problems, the dealership fixed under warranty. The rest they claimed were not under warranty and I had to pay for out of pocket. For about 30% of these problems, I took my car into the dealership 3 times and they could not figure out the cause and suggested I would fix and pay out of my pocket, even when the warranty was still valid. They claimed the warranty did not cover since they could not find the root of the cause and I would have to pay for time and labor for the dealership to take the car apart and figure out the root of the problem and then determine if the problem would be covered by warranty. The third time I caved in and paid for labor/time for the diagnostics and after all that the dealership told me the problem was not covered by warranty.Center BMW just sold me a lemon and sucked every penny out of my dream car. I finally got fed up and wrote a letter to the corporate offices explaining to them how unhappy I was with my BMW and how the dealership handled the problems and also mentioned how the lemon I purchased was a disappointment since I received a poor quality car that did not live up to the reputation BMW holds. Their response was there was nothing BMW would do once the warranty expired and the owner was responsible for all repairs.

I just got a 2017 BMW X5 3 days ago and I already regret it, the car is equipped with Apple Carplay but in order for me to access and pair my Iphone, I need to pay $300.00 for 240 months (20 years) and if I decide to buy another BMW, Ill have to pay again because you cant transfer the subscription. I call customer service to get more information just to find out the 2 customer service reps. are bosses and wont listen to you. My 2007 325i floods on the rear seat floor. My 2002 528 did the same thing. This is a flaw that BMW needs to address. My 2007 325i battery died. BMW has it set up where one cannot buy an after market battery because they cannot be registered to the car, which prevents the car from realizing a new battery was installed and all of the warning lights flash on the dashboard.Im still searching for how the water is entering the car. I have looked at all drains, window seals and the padding in the door. I spent $350-plus to have my battery replaced and registered to the car.

I am the sole owner of a 2007 BMW X-3. I have had my car serviced at South BMW in Miami, FL. I have owned this car continuously since 2007. I was to be a loyal BMW owner until a recent discovery. The right rear motor mount bracket screws (the four bolts broke off), the engine is not sitting properly and the transmission is making a discernible noise. I only drive on city streets and highways. I am not an off-road driver and this vehicle has not been involved in any type of accident. The BMW warranty covered my vehicle to 50,000 miles. I did not purchase the extended warranty (maintenance warranty offered by the dealership) as it covered nothing. I am afraid that the engine will fall out of the vehicle, causing bodily injury or maybe even a fatality. I noticed that you already have one complaint about this same issue. Please help me. I am not asking for you to replace my vehicle, just fix it to where I can drive it again without fear.

My car stopped on me going out of town on the weekend and needed a tow. I contacted BMW roadside from the number in my trunk and set up service to be towed to BMW of Manhattan and I prepaid 139.00 from my debit for the service. I called the service center at BMW of Manhattan to assure security and lockup information and was told that they could not accommodate that and they closed at 5pm. So I knew the car wouldnt arrive on time because it was a little after four when I called back roadside and made reservations for the car to be stored at the towing company until Monday morning but I had to upgrade the amount I paid from 139.00 to 169.00 because of storage time. I was told the first payment couldnt be reimbursed over the phone but that Id receive it in three to five business days. I continued out of town on the 30th through Greyhound and returned on the fifth. I kept running into the resistance of phone tag when I returned but finally got through with email correspondence. When I visited the BMW of Manhattan location I spoke about the issues and options concerning the car. The 189.00 payment for diagnostic and the issues that needed to be addressed. I was told I needed the alternator replaced and battery fixed then another diagnostic needed to be done to see what caused the recharger to stop charging and the battery to die. I explained that I had some one oil the car and wanted to know if that could be the cause because he used oil that was not suggested by my previous mechanic; it was Mobile synthetic and I wanted to make sure it hadnt shocked my system causing the car to fail (BMW 750i 2006). I also didnt want to pay for a diagnosis and fix it only to pay for another diagnosis and realize my system was shot. I feel he should have been able to give me that information the first time opposed to being charged so many times. The service area associate assured me it was not the oil but he needed to fix the car first then re-diagnose.So, I asked about the financial assistance program that I was told they didnt have. I was also told if the car was fixed and not picked up Id be charged 85 dollars a day for storage. So I asked the service adviser Denise ** did she have the information for the towing company. I wanted the car towed back to she said No. I then stated I have it in my papers I will call and have it picked up and she replied I do have it. She gestured to a folder in front of her and she said Ill call and make the arrangement and the car will be picked up Monday (This was a Saturday again and they closed at 5).Its been two weeks now since the car broke down and I have not received my reimbursement. I called BMW roadside. They cannot give any information or a telephone number to speak with someone who can explain why I dont have my 139.00 back. The woman on the phone sounded unusually uncomfortable and told me I had to send a letter to the claims department. Thats all the information she could give me; that there was no number I could call. I expressed my concerns about no contact by phone and not receiving a follow up (which she said I should have gotten). Ive googled and cannot find a number for BMW claims or reimbursement and they insist they cant help me on the phone.I called BMW of Manhattan and was greeted nasty. I wanted to know where had the car been delivered to and the woman on the phone said It was delivered to the shop where I was having it fixed (she said it wasnt there). I told her I didnt make arrangements and wheres my car. She told me to hold on and transferred me to Denise ** who said she never made the arrangements and never agreed to it. We went back and forth on the phone till I finally asked wheres the car and she said Its still in the service area. Today is 10/13/17 and the car has been there since 10/02/17.I think BMW of Manhattan is a in every area from the financial assistance to having the car fixed and also on delivery. The attitude of the managing staff Ive run into is very unethical. I feel its bad business to take my money and now I have to chase it and get spoken to rudely. There system is not put together professionally; unless theyre just common thieves. I would like my money returned and car delivered and as I write this long (hour-some) letter the email had still not generated on my phone for an update (as she called it). BMW gets no stars from me. I wish I never bought the car. (I wanted an Impala.)Oh, and when I returned to my car to retrieve stuff from my trunk. They had left food in the car that was rotting for the time it was there. The windows were rolled down and big flies were in my car. I had little groceries in the car and though it might not be their job, if you are working on it and its in your garage common courtesy and your environment should have made you throw away sour milk, juice and hamburger meat. (Im just saying.) But Im not on fb so I wont. ;) I didnt know Id need receipts at the end for this but I can furnish upon request.

I own a 650I, bought it from BMW dealer, always had it serviced by BMW dealer. At around 80,000 miles after having repeated problems with transmission, I was told I needed a new transmission and it was not covered by warranty. Also was told I need engine rebuilt! And also out of warranty! This car cost over $100,000, what type of valve stem guides do they use that they wear out at such low miles, not to mention a transmission, both items last longer on a $30,000 Honda... How pathetic!I spoke with BMW North America. They refused to warranty the defective items, and if one would check the new engines in BMWs, they would find most are burning oil very prematurely because the new engine design is built with sub par parts... This is a car costing over $100,000.00. I am disgusted with this horrible excuse of a luxury vehicle and more so the haughty attitude of BMW. One more thing, the dealer I was using Checkered Flag is horrible. They returned my car after a service, 4 quarts low on oil. When I called them, they said the oil sensor was faulty, when actually it was their lazy and inept service approach. I have engaged the services of a lawyer on this one!

Its a 2011 BMW 535i. When I turned on the front defroster the fan was making an abnormal loud noise. Took it to the dealer and they checked that out and said leaves went inside the fan motor and they had to replace the fan motor. My question to BMW again how did the leaves went inside the fan motor to begin with? Do not they have proper system in place where the leaves should not be even allowed to go inside. I saw this happen to way older cars. I drove Japanese cars which were way older models than these, never ever had any issues like these. I have a 2009 BMW 3 series. I got a flat tire and was lucky to find a tire shop nearby. They did not have the tire for my car, so I called Roadside assistance to see how they could help me. They said I was entitled to a free tire and tire change, which was not true. So I agreed to have my car towed by a tow company, All About Automotive II on that Saturday night, until Monday morning when they would deliver it to Life Quality BMW Service Center. When I received my car back from the Life Quality BMW, the tire rims had been replaced on all four wheels with older, more damaged and dirtier rims, as if from a car that had been sitting in a dirty lot for years. I was outraged. I brought it to the attention of Life Quality, and their answer was that they could wash the car for me. These were not the original rims on the car. I foolishly believed that BMW would be working with a respectable tow company, even though when the company towed my car they did not take pictures of it, and one of the women who came to get the car was visibly a substance abuser. I was so foolish for trusting BMW. I put in a claim, and they denied it, without even trying to get evidence of my claim. I plan to continue fighting this case, but my advice to you is never to trust BMW roadside assistance.

I bought a certified pre-owned 2007 X3 in 2009, which luckily means I have a warranty till 2013. When I bought it in May 2009, it had the service engine light on and dealer tells me its due service and will do it the week after. Ever since, the light keeps coming up every 2 months, and the dealer takes a week to do something. Then he tells me that they do whatever BMW tells them to do and gives it back saying that the problem has been resolved. So far, I have had at least ten such trips. The last two trips are taking much longer. The last trip took 19 days about month and half ago. I went in again on Nov 28th and it is still being looked at. The dealer has provided me a loaner car so I dont have a major hassle as a result. But it is amazing that this supposedly superior engineering company cannot figure out after so many tries why the stupid light comes on. Can any one really trust their advanced systems like iDrive and so on to actually work? Is BMW more of a superior marketing engine as opposed to a superior engineering company? The evidence suggests that they are definitely a superior marketing company.

I was wondering whether you might be interested in running a story about what to watch out for when leasing a car. I am having a very difficult time with BMW Financial Services organization and have identified at least 4 ways that their owners choice agreement does harm to the customer. I learned a lot and thought it could be of potential interest to your readers. After turning in my i3 at the two year lease end, and making every payment like clockwork, and returning the car in immaculate condition (nothing found wrong by the independent examiner), they are suddenly hounding me to pay them $353 purportedly so they can use that money to sell the car to someone else. What, I said? I leased the car from you, its your responsibility to sell it. I have tried talking to them but they claim that this money clawback fee, is somewhere buried in the fine print of their agreement.Strangely, no matter how many times I spoke with all of the people at the dealership no one ever made me aware of this situation. And the Financial Services Group was irrational when I called them. When I explained that I bought another i3 but I didnt finance it, they wouldnt take off the fee. It would seem that finance group at the dealership needs to tell the customer when we are in there signing pages and pages of documents. But my real wonder here is why BMW management would want to pursue this after the fact, fee extraction extortion strategy.I was told, now after the fact, that had I did another financing with BMW finance they would have waived the fee. However, the reason I didnt buy the i3 I had from the dealer was because I was told that I would have to pay a $2,200 customer loyalty fee over the street value of the car. And I actually have this in writing. Is this a rational thing for a customer to be told? Is that what loyalty means to BMW Finance. Hey you are loyal, so you need to pay $2,200 more for the car? For $350, and what they want it for, I can tell you that they arent earning goodwill and keep customers this way. I have two other tax issues that harmed me that was also part of their program. These were tax related and needlessly abusive policies. Anyway, I dont think I will be leasing another car from BMW Finance.

I purchased a new 2007 BMW 116i 5-door in June 2009. I am a good BMW owner with regular service, etc. I had no problems until March 2013. The car only has 34,000 km driven for just under 4 years. To date, the car is still giving me problems. The local BMW SAID they contacted BMW Corporation for goodwill and help, but to no avail... the car problems still persist. I just had regular car service. I got scammed by BMW. I entered into a 2-year lease in 2016. Few months before the lease ends, I purchased additional miles. I was told that any unused miles will be refunded. I returned my car yesterday and guess what, they refused to refund my unused miles. However, they found my left rear tire was a little bit more used than the other ones and they charged me $300. Plus the extra $350 fee to close the lease...Not only that but last year, I was in Europe for a month or so and totally forgot to pay my monthly charge, was 30 days late and paid as soon as I came back to the US and opened my mail. That was the only late payment I had during my entire lease. Well guess what, BMW reported it right away and my credit score got impacted so bad it prevented me to purchase a house. I wrote a letter to try to solve this issue, they ignored it. BUT the sales team kept harassing me to try to sell me a new lease... Yeah, you guys can keep trying. This is my current car. I have had it 8 years. It is a 2004 E46 BMW M3, I think it is the most beautiful of the M3s (probably biased). It is such a fast car and can quickly lull you into thinking 100 mph is 50 mph. The brakes and handling add to the effect. Always keep an eye on the speedometer! Its 2 door sedan bodywork is very practical. There are seat belts for 5 inside. My car has unusual Caramel leather upholstery with Birds Eye Maple wood trim. These M3s are starting to go up in value which is a nice surprise. I would recommend that anyone that can should invest in a M3 now before they increase in value much more.

Less than a month ago I made a terrible decision of switching from Toyota to BMW. I was surprised to find that my new car is causing serious BACK issues on my body. I called BMW to request a car return or exchange they said no. Now I have a super expensive car that I can’t drive because if I keep driving it will cause serious back pain to develop on my body. I believe all sports models that have the seat low cause lower back issues. Shout me an email if anyone is experiencing similar issues with BMW.

Not clear about durability as I have the car only one year, but maneuvering, acceleration, safety mechanisms, etc., are excellent. 228i is a relatively small coupe with rapid acceleration (0 to 60 in seconds), great maneuverability (takes corners sharply and with stability), good safety mechanisms (rear view camera, alarms/reminders for seat belts, emergency brake, parking, etc.). Windows provide good visibility all around though I wish there was a rear window wiper. Has driver & front passenger heater seats, automatic air conditioning and seat settings that driver adjusts to his/her comfort level, etc. Trunk is a good size. Back seat is a bit small if youre tall, otherwise comfortable. Could use a bit more storage space (console, glove compartment and very small compartment next to driver door to lock up keys for glove compartment if valet parked). Remote keyless access. Great car/value for the money. Good support service from BMW.

My car is a 2010 BMW 750. I had so far 3 engine faults in the space of less than 2 years. I take the car to the dealer. He fixes it under warranty. But every time, he doesnt provide me with replacement car immediately. Instead, I have to wait for up to a week sometimes provided, I dont have a second car. The second issue, which is more important; why are there repeated engine faults in my car when it’s still new? Is it a manufacture fault? This is serious! Id like you to look into this matter and consider replacing this car with a brand new one. This is your reputation on the line here! I bought an expensive car so that I can relax, not so that I spend a great portion of my time at the service department. This is simply unacceptable.

I would appreciate the concern regarding numerous attempts to keep my 750 LI out of the shop. Over the last two years I have not driven my car 2 months straight on a 70k certified vehicle. Is this the expectation when buying a BMW or did I luck up on a lemon? Sincerely, Disgruntled customer.

Thanks BMW for turning my lifelong dream of owning a BMW into a NIGHTMARE e
Thanks BMW for turning my lifelong dream of owning a BMW into a NIGHTMARE experience. Heres why... Since the time I saw a BMW while I was growing up as a teenager I always wanted to own a BMW. I have patiently waited to own a 5 series when the time comes for me to afford one. And that time came over the Labor Day weekend. It was time for me to replace the 1998 Nissan that I was driving for 9 years to be finally replaced with my dream car, the BMW. I went to Patrick BMW dealership, with my wife and kids, in Schaumburg IL to purchase a certified pre-owned BMW that I had looked online. We test drove the car, loved it and finally sat down to close the deal. The whole process took us come around over 4 hours. During the contract finalization process (I had signed majority of the paperwork) the salesman came and told me that they could not give me the car as the car I just chose wont start and mentioned that I could not take the car today. They werent sure why it wont start.Well that was the big set back to my expectation of a BMW... A BMW machine with 22K miles on it (almost new) wont start. I never face this issue with any cheap cars and this is what I was hearing of a BMW a car with an original price tag of $60,000. I was really really disappointed and had to leave home. They told me that the dealership will investigate and call me what the issue is and provide an ETA on the fix date. They called the next day and told me that the fuel pump went bad and need to be replaced. Was not happy to hear that and started doubting whether BMW is still the BMW people say we love for the lifetime. My entire family was disappointed. I had driven a 1998 Nissan with 142K miles on it and it had never given me an issue and the BMW blew in 22K miles. Anyways I thought it is a machine and Ill give it a chance. The dealership called me 3 days later and mentioned the car is fixed and ready to be picked up. I was super excited and took off work to pick the dream machine. I had called my family to wait outside my house and see me drive my dream car home. I was just 30 yards away from my garage that the BMW stalled (dead). Really I could not believe and I see my family cheering at me (unaware) that the car had stalled and thought I stood there to let them see the car... EMBARRASSING AND FRUSTRATING... The car wont start and I get a big message in the console transmission failed. Really really. This is BMW.I called the dealership and the damn guy asked me to bring the car back to the dealership. Somehow... the car started and I brought it back. The salesman told me that it is a sleeper mode issue. WTF is that... He told me that you have to reverse the car and then everything will be fine. I could not believe still that this is ** BMW man. Somehow the car started working fine... and brought it back. Happy but frustrated whether I have got a LEMON...I take it to work, drove 15 miles... showed it to my friends and colleagues. I took few for a drive and what happens the car stalls (dead) again. EMBARRASSING THAT I WANT TO DIG MYSELF IN THE GROUND. I could not believe it and what a bad press for a BMW 2011 535i. I called the dealership and they asked me to get it towed. Towed not even a car that I had in my hands for more than an hour... seriously. I wanted to scream and punch someone.. I had to wait for the tow for 4 hours and finally the car was towed..You SEE WHAT YOU GUYS DID TO ME ... You just blew my confidence in luxury cars out of the window. I started hating it... rather than telling my family and friends that I had bought an awesome machine... I was ** about the car... seriously...I went to the dealership to ask for my money back and they mentioned theyll assure theyll fix the car. They told me this time it is a the fuel sensor... WTF. Really.. this is a damn certified car which I think is not certified from a Ford dealership (who know nothing about BMW). The certification is from damn BMW. I started to question about the whole certification process and the quality of BMWs . I so very much wanted to never ever own a BMW again and committed to make sure that ensure none of my friends and family or whoever I come in contact with... let them know to never ever own a BMW.My wife, she know I always wanted to own one... convinced me to give this car a chance... someone I agreed. Now the car is with the Patrick BMW dealership in Schaumburg IL. I called yesterday to ask the status and NOW the guy is telling me it is the POWER MODULE. Seriously ... these guys just told me it is the fuel sensor. WHO SHOULD I BELIEVE.... IM BEING CHEATED... having sleepless nights... BMW .. WHY ARE YOU GUYS DOING THIS TO ME?Before I start hitting Facebook, Twitter, and other forums to share my experience ... you guys better call me tell me what the hell is going on and you better do something about it. I work for Deloitte Consulting LLP, the biggest consulting firm, in the world. Im a consultant and my job is to keep my clients happy. We promote value, confidence and good relationships over money. Many of my colleagues own a BMW and that was giving me confidence... but if BMW does not work with me here... Im telling you Im going to go all over the place. Lets see what experience I get about customer service from BMW and that would tell me everything about BMW and Ill have full ammunition to do either a good or bad press... A frustrated BMW first time buyer...

Bought myself a new car, very exciting right? WRONG! Not if its a BMW! I bought this car less than 30k miles, 2014. This Friday will be my 3rd time taking it to the shop in less than a month. Its still under warranty, but now Im seeing signs, as I did with my Pontiac Firebird money pit. Feels like something is wrong with the mass air flow, tranny, parking lamp malfunction, now check engine light is on. Whats next??? Idk anyone who is taking their car in every week on their day off. Contacting Carmax and my creditor to check out other options. Honda and Toyota here I come! BMW IS RUNNING A RACKET!!!

My wife and I purchased a 2014 BMW X3 xDrive 28i in August of 2014. The car we chose was a certified preowned car, meaning it had low mileage and additional inspections/warranties applied. We purchased the car with about 7k miles on it and it was a good car for the first few years we owned it. In the last year, we needed to replace several expensive items including the oil gasket, most of which cost upwards of $1k plus. The final straw was the transmission dying. My wife was on her way home from the store when the vehicle gave her a Drive Train Malfunction warning and urged her to pull over and stop the vehicle. Once stopped, the vehicle would no longer allow itself to be shifted out of park. We managed to get it on a flatbed tow truck and then to a repair center. The repair center diagnosed a faulty transmission which baffled them as the car has less than 90k miles on it and had been maintained fully by BMW certified techs. The fact remained, however, that it was indeed the transmission that would need replaced. If we had decided to go this route, the cost would be roughly $6k and a month of time if we went with a third party repair or closer to $9k if we went with a dealership. The car at this point in its life is worth roughly $10k, so neither repair is worth it. So essentially, were left with a very heavy paperweight that we now must dispose of. Ive had low end beater variety Mazdas last twice as long as this luxury vehicle. I will not be purchasing again and will be warning anyone I can get to listen to me off of BMWs going forward.

My new vehicle is the worst experience I ever had. Wind noise creates so much distraction while driving that I feel safety issues are questionable. While driving I cannot focus on the road because the only thing I can hear is wind noise. I took vehicle to dealership twice, and third time they refused to take it in. They said that all of them are like that. I made a mistake to trade in my 2007 328i, which never made any noises. BMW needs to supply complimentary helmets with every new sold vehicle because that appears to be only cure. I tried turning my radio volume up, and still I can hear it. But another thing that worries me is that I have constant headache from the volume. Does anyone experience the same issues? I have called the manufacturer, and they are not concerned at all.

We called BMW for 2011 X5 about problems almost every month with engine sign and more. BMWs answer was You didnt buy new BMW and you have 40k miles already so we cannot do anything, sorry. I asked Mr. ** for supervisor, he said, My supervisor (**) will tell you same thing & refused to transfer or provide her contact info. Anyway, we have numerous repairs done under warranty in last 2 years and ongoing... We have driven BMWs for over 20 years & now I can say very clearly Dont get heavy scrap with overloaded, computerized, constantly failing components with BMWs policy to keep making service money without caring for customers at all. In 2014 we owned BMW 2011 X5, 2001 740iL, 2008 335i, 2005 325xi, 2003 X5 & 2003 M3.

After buying a BMW, I was getting some indications that some general service work needed to be completed. After bringing my car into the local BMW dealer, Bill Jacobs BMW, my work was completed under warranty as well as additional items that they told me that needed to be fixed. Some of the items like brakes were also fixed and I was told that they were covered with the maintenance agreement that came with the car. I was surprised to learn that brakes were covered because they are not normally covered. I remember being told by the staff at BIll Jacobs BMW that BMW maintenance agreement is real good and covers a lot of stuff not typically covered.A month or so later, I was getting calls from Bill Jacobs BMW letting me know there they had additional service recommendations. I did not ask for their recommendations. I did not initially come in due to other commitments. After their persistence in calling me (they called at least 3 times), I agreed to bring the car in for the work. At that time, my battery was going defective and I asked them to look at that as well and I was told it needed to be replaced. I was asked to sign an agreement authorizing them to work on my car. Those were the exact words used by the service advisor. I signed the agreement. Never at one time did he say, These are the services we will perform in your car and this is the cost for the service for each issue. It was simply, Sign the agreement to authorize the work. When I went to pick up the car after the work was completed, I was astonished when I was handed a bill for almost $1360. I refused to pay the bill as the dealer never told me this service was something that was to be paid for. The service advisor never went over the estimate outlining what the costs were. The whole time, I was under the impression this was warranty work. Afterwards, they showed me the work order with prices but I assumed they were what were being billed back to BMW to cover the cover their costs. I figured if I were paying, it would have come up somewhere. They were very deceptive but released my vehicle without any hesitation. I received a phone call from Grant **, the GM. He was condescending during our conversation but willing to knock off the a few hundred dollars as if he was doing me a favor. I still felt since their employee was not upfront and the charges for the services they provide were extreme compared to what I could have purchased the services for elsewhere, I did not feel like they were being fair. I was willing to pay some of it but when he agreed to knock a bit off, it was a take it or leave it.I went out of town for a few weeks on a business trip. When I returned, I received a call from the Naperville police who were threatening to arrest me for theft of service if I did not come up with the full amount in 36 hours. After I consulted an attorney who advised me that this was a civil matter and not a criminal matter, I decided to tell both the police and Grant that I would not be bullied by them. Then a warrant was issued for my arrest. Now I feel as if Bill Jacobs BMW as well as the Naperville Police department for getting involved in a civil dispute is bullying me. How could it be a criminal offense if they released the vehicle? I never demanded it or threatened them in any way to turn it over. So how could I have stolen something? I would think they have an obligation to explain their services and be abundantly clear when work is being done outside of the warranty. Both the service manager and Grant ** hung their hat on the fact that their guys are well-trained so they were assuming the misunderstanding was on my end. But it does not matter how well-trained their guy is because he did not disclose that I was responsible for the repairs regardless of what was signed.Furthermore, as far as the police investigation, there really was not one. Bill Jacobs BMW filed a complaint and I was arrested. There was zero investigation. Even when I spoke to the officer who issued the warrant after I told them my side of the story, he said, They said that would be your response, that it was my word against theirs. Seriously, how can they investigate my word against theirs? There are only 2 people who know for sure what happened: the service advisor, Brad, and myself. The service manager and general manager who were so very confident that Brad indicated these were paid for services were not present during the discussion when the car was dropped off.

It is not a trustworthy car at all. It is not a trustworthy car at all - put me in a near-death situation. I just about avoided a major accident due to a manufacturing fault with timing chain which should last for 200,000 miles (BMWs claim) and my car has only done less than 68000 miles. This was brought to the attention of BMW before the incident but they are trying to hide behind corporate write-right.It is generally accepted that, for all cars, timing chain should last for the lifetime of the engine. This is a known issue associated with the N42/N43 engine (fitted in models between 2007 to 2011 which my 3 series is from). Even though timing chains are supposed to last a lifetime, clearly this seems to be well known issue with BMW engines and they are well aware of it. We were not aware of it until it was brought to our attention by an external mechanic after taking the car to their garage due to some warning lights. Please note we had taken this to a BMW approved service centre before taking it to an external garage and this was not diagnosed property by BMW approved mechanics (Cooper BMW Cobham to be precise).I informed BMW directly about this issue and also highlighted the fact that the brakes were becoming stiff. They ignored this to a point where the brakes got extremely stiff and nonworkable, suddenly on my way to home with my 5 year old child. Realising this, somehow with all my strength pulled the car to a nearby shopping place, driving crazily. The recovery man checked the car and found the brakes to be so stiff. He asked me, Do you know you would have ended up in a tragic accident, you are very lucky! After the incident, I am still stressed with very little sleep at night. I could not believe that my son and I narrowly escaped a tragic accident. It is unfortunate that neither BMW or the Cooper Cobham, warned me of the health and safety risks involved despite bringing this issue to their attention. They dragged things in the name of diagnosis to be carried out. As this was a known fault, they should have straightway made arrangements for my car to be checked and remedied at their expense. This also reminded me of BMWs electrical failure issue which lead to a fatality and made a lot of press (Narayan Gurung case). In this case, BMW was highly criticised for not recalling cars and putting customers lives at risk. It is saddening to know that these big business minded and money motivated people care so less about precious lives of people. I am not allowed to link the article here but if you google Narayan Gurung road death you will find many articles including reporting on Court criticising BMW.I have taken this matter further with BMW. Even after letting them know of the nearly death accident, they are ignoring it and dragging things in the name of diagnosis. The car is with the garage since Thursday and to date they have not carried out any diagnosis. It is extremely unfortunate that BMW is ignoring such a serious matter. There are more to this story including some crucial evidences, which I am keeping hold of at the moment as I may have to take the matter legally if BMW continues to ignore me despite the seriousness of the matter. But if you are in similar situation, please get in touch as I am happy to share those with you. I am not a car savvy but I have done a lot of research after I found out about manufacturing fault with my car which I use to meet my day to day needs. I am uploading this here so that people are aware of this and am pretty sure there are other BMW users in similar or same situation. I am a person who stand for justice and I am not going to leave it like this. I will keep you all updated of BMWs response to this issue and whether they resolve this at their cost.

A NEW (not used) BMW transmission was replaced for our X5 BMW year 2001 in July 15, 2010. We understood that the warranty on this transmission would be 10 years. Recently, December 28th, 2013, the transmission was failed. BMW did not accept responsibility for replacement under warranty claiming that the warranty period is only two years. Is this correct? The replacement cost we paid at the BMW OTTO Service was for a New BMW transmission. Your assistance & advise is appreciated.

Without warning, my 2007 BMW 328Xi engine shut off and stopped in the middle of a busy road. I was told by a BMW service rep that my fuel tank draw tube fell off causing loss of fuel to the engine. I learned online that this is happening to other 2007 era BMWs and the reason is that the fuel draw tube is corroded by the fuel it is drawing and weakens and falls off. The fix is a new fuel tank, pump and draw tube for excess of $2,000.When contacted by my service rep, BMW gave a token $500 toward my repair leaving me with a $1,900 repair bill. Had this failure occurred on a busy Seattle freeway, my life would have been in grave danger as would have others around me - there would have been an accident with no way to avoid it. BMW is aware of their product failure and my question is who has to die before BMW steps up to the plate and accepts responsibility and recalls and repairs these vehicles? If you own a 5-7 year old BMW (maybe newer), its going to happen to you and I would appreciate your raising your voice to BMW before someone has to die to get BMWs attention.

I have had a terrible experience with this 7 series. This car jerks at times giving me a Drive Train Malfunction and the car becomes extremely unstable. This has happened 2 - 3 times already since I bought this car. Service Center (BMW Murray Motors - Denver) says Fuel Injectors are bad and so this issue. They replace Fuel injectors and the problem comes back after 2 months. Extremely dissatisfied and angry. I am paying too much money every month and have no peace of mind. In addition to this issue I have had other issues as well. My first impression Car: Terrible Car. Please do not buy BMW!!!

I bought my 2014 X1 with 3800km on it. So far 1) the front end had to be to be replaced, 2) airbag recall, 3) Idle stop stopped working, 4) smell of fuel lingers in the interior, 5) most of the vents are brittle and break, 6) hazard lights switch is broken, replaced and broke again three days later. 7) Rear hatch door unlatches when gremlins want in or out, 8) rear door latch passenger side won’t latch. A door I rarely used.9) Valve cover and gasket replaced with 89000km (55000 miles), 10) Hole in the valve cover, 11) rust coming through under the rear hatch door. Told by Georgian BMW, Service Manager, who never worked in a body shop I was told, nor his manager, This I was told was due to a alteration. Car has never been in an accident, no record of an accident is apparent. BMW Canada told me to get the dealership to take pictures of the rusted area, Georgian BMW refused. (I won’t step foot in that door ever again and make it a point to tell anyone of the troubles I have with both car and dealership.)12) Doors locked with car running, 13) side plastic plate at bottom of door pops off. Had to use $4.00 tube of silicon on a “fine piece of German Engineering”. 14) Front cowl is plastic and broke off while hitting a pothole in the cold... Did I say...plastic front cowl like in the same plastic in the toy cars my Grandchildren play within the bathtub...but obviously more resilient. 15) Intermittent wipers are stuck on one speed. Told by Georgian BMW this was due to an aftermarket windshield. Odd in the corner of the windshield it reads BMW and I had never replaced it from when I bought the car. Funny that whenever I go into a BMW Shop to repair my car, continuously try to sell me a new and improved model of crap.
