It was in decent condition and within my budget range. I like the gold color and it's good on gas. It's reliable and comfortable enough to get to and from where I need to be. Otherwise, it's an average car with average features and has some issues, but that's typical for a used car. Maintenance is expensive, I wish it wasn't as much to upkeep. It's also an older car, so its features work but are pretty dated. Also, the beige upholstery is god awful and dated.

I have a 2009 Sonata with leather seats and 56,000 miles. It’s still under the so-called bumper-to-bumper warranty. The leather on the driver's seat is cracking and peeling (the same thing happened to my 2007 Elantra). The dealer said it was a wear item and not covered by warranty. I asked them to show me where in the book does it say this, and they pointed to a short sentence that says any wear item is not covered under warranty. They told me Hyundai has a list of not covered items. I called Hyundai to complain and the first thing he said is "We have an extensive list of items not covered by our warranty." Wow, it would be nice if they put this in the customer's warranty information. He put me on hold, and then came back and said that seats and upholstery are not covered by any warranty, not even for one day for new vehicle. It would also be nice if they told the truth in their advertising. They use the warranty to sell their cars, but they are in fact lying about their warranty coverage.

The timing belt went out on my 2008 Hyundai Accent with just over 63,000 miles, just over the 60,000 warranty. But that's not the worst of it. The dealership where I had it towed told me that I have a cracked cylinder head also. So here I am 600 miles away with a 'loaner' because they couldn't fix it then. That was last week!I called Hyundai, but they say it is out of warranty. I have had other vehicles with lots more miles that needed a timing belt replaced, but nothing that affected the engine like this.

We have a 2012 Hyundai Sonata Limited with 30000 kms on it and it has been at the dealership in Fredericton, NB for 7 weeks now waiting for a wiring harness which was diagnosed after replacing the computer and fuel pump. The engine light continues to come on time after time. The wiring harness arrived this week after 7 weeks only to discover Hyundai sent the wrong one after being hand made in Korea. Now they tell me they have another one coming from Alabama, amazing how that got there. On top of this problem, since we bought the car new, we have had constant steering problems with the car which can't seem to be fixed, along with the alternator pulsating and the battery going dead. After contacting Hyundai Canada several times, I keep getting the run around and they will not put me in contact with someone that has some decision making power. This car is unsafe to be on the road as it self accelerates when the engine light is on.

I own a 2012 Hyundai Accent. It never has attained 40 MPG as advertised and stated on my car window sticker when purchased. A Class Action lawsuit was filed and reported settled in Feb 2013 and I am awaiting results. My experience with Hyundai has been the worst experience of any car company, and I am 61 years old. They are rude and arrogant. I will never own another Hyundai or Kia product... Ever!

Key fob falls off a lot. Unlike other fobs the key does not fold out, it is an L-shaped key that slides right out of the fob when pressure is put on the small button which protrudes from the fob approximately 1/16 of an inch and releases the key. All other buttons are recessed. It has fallen off in my purse, in my pocket, on the floor of my car, while opening the door of my car, under my desk, off my keys as I picked them up off the seat, and I have even found it on the floor under my key hanger by the door. My husband's has fallen off in his backpack while setting the keys on his desk, in his pocket, and while opening the door.

On June 13th, I noticed a rattling when I stepped on the gas of my 2008 Hyundai Sonata. By the time I got to my destination, the car was making such a horrible noise; there was no way it could be driven further. I called the Hyundai customer service number to arrange to have the car towed to the dealer and to make sure my warranty would cover the issue. I was assured that I was still covered under the 10 year 10,000 mile warranty. The following morning, the tow truck arrived and took the car to the dealer. Later that day, the dealer called me to inform me that I would need a new engine and that my warranty would not cover it. The engine would be a used one with 71,000 miles on it and would cost $5600 not including labor. Of course, I immediately called Hyundai and was told that I was misinformed the previous day and that I did not have the 100,000 mile warranty because I was the second owner. They assured me that they would cover the tow and the diagnostic charge but they would not cover a new engine. The reason I bought the car and not the Nissan Altima, which is a much nicer vehicle, was for the exceptional Hyundai warranty. I spent the next few hours on the phone with quite a few rude customer service representatives before I reached a supervisor. I stated my issue for the umpteenth time and he once again told me that despite the fact that the car is only four years old, it is not their problem as the warranty is up. So basically, Hyundai is saying that it is acceptable for a four-year old car to have a blown engine and too bad for me. I am a single mother who has recently been unemployed and I am still paying for this car. Suffice it to say that I will never buy another Hyundai again and I will certainly let everyone I know what my experience has been.

I purchased a brand new Hyundai Tucson Sport in December 2019 off the showroom floor. I paid cash for it. In February there was a clicking noise so I took it to the dealership. After diagnosis they said that a rod was coming loose and they would have to replace the motor. I only had 2000 miles on it. I should say I'm 70 years old and I treat my vehicles with care. After replacing the motor it never ran right. I talked to the service manager and he lead me to believe that a rebuilt motor could have been put in it and could not confirm to me that it was a new motor. After taking it back due to low power I got frustrated with Hyundai and I traded it in at CarMax on another brand of SUV. I'll never own another Hyundai again.

Most of the staff in Fairfax Hyundai Dealership, including supervisor, are rude and ruthless. The manager does not show up to the showroom, and does not return any calls. My Hyundai 2003 Sonata started smoking on New Year's day. The car battery got drained due to an electric short circuit. The car was towed, and after paying $582, within 24hrs, the car smoked again. The dealer explained that this is a different problem, and I must pay an additional $250 to fix the auxiliary plug in the trunk. The dealer blamed me and the things in my trunk, to cause the electric plug to fuse (never heard of this before). My car is stuck at the dealer, and I want to take them to court for cheating, not fixing the issue, and jeopardizing the life of my sister who got stranded with a smoking car in the middle of night. I have no car to get to work to, skipped doctors appointments, and my car is still with the dealer.
