xB service call
Scion is a discontinued marque of Toyota that debuted in 2003. Intended to appeal to younger customers, the Scion brand emphasized inexpensive, stylish, and distinctive sport compact vehicles, and used a simplified "pure price" sales concept that eschewed traditional trim levels and dealer haggling; each vehicle was offered in a single trim with a non-negotiable base price, while a range of dealer-installed options was offered to buyers for personalizing their vehicles. The Scion name, meaning the descendant of a family or heir, refers both to the brand's cars and their owners. In an effort to target the generation Y demographic, Scion primarily relied on guerrilla and viral marketing techniques.
The 2015 Scion xB offered several features and specifications that made it a popular choice among buyers. Here are some of its key features:
Boxy Design: The xB maintained its iconic boxy shape, which not only gave it a unique appearance but also provided a spacious and functional interior.
Interior Space: The xB had a roomy cabin with seating for up to five passengers. It offered ample headroom and legroom, making it comfortable for both driver and passengers.
Cargo Capacity: The rear seats were foldable, allowing for expanded cargo space when needed. The xB was quite versatile for carrying larger items or luggage.
Engine Performance: It was powered by a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine, which produced around 158 horsepower. The engine was paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission.
Fuel Efficiency: The xB was reasonably fuel-efficient for its class, offering good gas mileage for city and highway driving.
Standard Features: The base model of the 2015 xB came equipped with a variety of standard features, including air conditioning, power windows and locks, keyless entry, cruise control, a 6.1-inch touchscreen display, a six-speaker Pioneer audio system, Bluetooth connectivity, and a USB port for music and charging.
Optional Upgrades: Scion offered various optional upgrades and packages, including a premium audio system, navigation system, rearview camera, and a wide array of customization options, allowing buyers to personalize their xB.
Safety: The xB was equipped with standard safety features like antilock brakes (ABS), stability and traction control, front side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, and active front head restraints.
Reliability: Toyota and its Scion brand were well-known for producing reliable vehicles, and the xB was no exception. It had a reputation for being dependable and requiring minimal maintenance.
It's important to keep in mind that specific features and equipment might vary depending on the trim level and any optional packages chosen by the buyer. If you are considering purchasing a used 2015 xB, I recommend checking the vehicle's individual specifications to see which features are included.

Product Reviews:
Purchased my first Scion xB (2011, used) in 2013. Loved it. While at a routine service appointment at Central Florida Toyota in Orlando, Florida, I saw a 2014 model. After much negotiation, I drove home with it. First new car in 17 years. Everything fine from April-December 2014. Then the fuel economy starting to slide down. It was getting 23.4 mpg overall driving consistently. Then without warning these numbers starting dipping to 20 and below. I took the car to the original dealership, Central Florida Toyota. They told me it was the tire pressures. They charged me handsomely to replace a tire with a puncture and sent me on my way. The car is 11 mos. old with less than 6,000 miles.Next fillup shows no improvement in MPG. I stopped by the Dealer who has put me off. The service manager ** has told me to do 5 more tank fill ups before talking to him. I keep excel spreadsheets on my cars and I already have all the data I need to demonstrate a problem, but Toyota seems unwilling to fix the problem. Something has changed with this car and it's not where I get gas and it's not how I drive. Toyota needs to figure it out. I AM NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER. I talk to hundreds of people over the air on a regular basis and will make sure that they too know that I am unhappy about this situation.David of Orlando, FL

A few months later I go on the weekend driving at normal speed on the highway (about 45 to 50 mph) and I notice that the check engine light comes out again. Generating another visit to the service building that was last Monday (4/17/2017 and today is Thursday (4/20/2017) and they still do not call me to tell me what happens with my vehicle and when I call services they tell me that person who is working with a vehicle is not and the manager cannot talk to me because he is with another client (of course he is with another client). They are doing very bad business. I just need someone to help me with this situation as this vehicle was financed and I have very high payments. Thank you and do not do business with Fordham Toyota / Scion Dealer which is 236 West Fordham Rd, Bronx, NY 10468.Winston of Bronx, NY

I purchased a 2006 model Toyota Scion Tc in July 2005 and sometime in 2012 the "back-door garnish" (basically the trunk latch) broke during normal usage. This is a well-documented issue that exists for a lot of Scion models and finally, after years of owner activity on Facebook, Scion issued a "warranty enhancement notice" in late 2013. Unfortunately, it was listed as only valid from 7 years after first date of use. So I received the notice after it was already expired. Dealership refused to do the repair, even acknowledging "the timing is really messed up" -- suggested I contact Toyota customer service to authorize an extension. Corporate office refused.Stone of Austin, TX

I received the extended warranty on the back door Garnish a few months ago. The other day I went to the Toyota Dealership (AutoNation Toyota South Austin) to have it fixed but they told me that the extended warranty was expired in March 2014. I called Toyota and filed a claim but they also told me the same damn thing. What am I supposed to do now?Younes of Austin, TX

I bought my 2016 Scion iA preowned with 91k miles on it a month ago. For a Toyota product I expected better. Transmission made a whine noise and I had to get the dealer to replace it under their crappy used car warranty. Got it back and it made noises like the engine was falling out. Had it towed back to the dealer and they said mounts/dampers were loose so they tightened them up. Aside from these issues, two of the infotainment buttons stick to where they can’t be pressed. The infotainment screen has been cutting off while driving for no reason. Bluetooth connectivity and built in apps often don’t work. The car shakes like riding an old tractor when transmission is in gear. I don’t know what’s wrong with it now. Also, the rear door seals on both doors are falling down.Phillip of Easley, SC

I have/had a 2012 Scion XD. I was traveling at less than 30mph when the car in front of me stopped unexpectedly. I hit the brakes and unfortunately was unable to stop in time. I rear ended a midsize SUV. The air bags deployed and a fire erupted in the engine compartment before I was able to get out of the car. Before the Fire Dept. could arrive the entire car was engulfed in flames. I was able to get out just fine, with the loss of replaceable items and the car itself. However, something doesn't seem right that a minor crash would result in a fire. The damaged sustained by the SUV was bumper damage, no body damage resulted whatsoever. As for the Scion, it is kind of hard to tell exactly due to the fire, but the hood is only slightly bent and I noticed no damage to the fenders. Is this a defect or a one off incident? Has anyone else had a similar issue? I have contacted Scion, who has opened a claim on this. We will wait and see, in the meantime I hope no one has a similar issue, especially if the doors were jammed.Steve of Corona, CA

Changed oil. I was driving - the engine stop - pull over to the side, found a hole on the engine and still have about $2500 payment on the car. I guess I'm gonna bite the bullet, finish the payment and never buy anything made by Toyota. Lots of people having problem with oil and engine knocking so BOYCOTT BOYCOTT Toyota.karim of Clayton, NJ

I acquired this vehicle from my brother-in-law two years ago. I've noticed that when it rains, the rear seat floorboards end up soaking wet -- in some cases, with standing water. My cursory examination seems to indicate the problem is much worse when driven in the rain as opposed to a static situation. I am now suspecting that the rear wheels throw water up into the wheel well when in motion and that water gets in through the body and ends up on the rear floor.I believe this may have been a problem for him as he complained about the 'smell' of mildew in the car but mistakenly believed it to be from a repair to the rear hatch that was improperly done by the Scion dealership he visited in Los Angeles, CA. He never established where the smell came from and of course, being California, it only rains a few months out of the year, so the problem would only present at certain times. I keep getting postcards in the mail from the local dealership telling they would like to 'buy my car' - towards a trade-in of course, and I think to myself, 'I would never buy a Scion or a Toyota again.' I am going to assess the car this weekend and attempt to establish if my theory is correct and, if so, I am going to clean it up and apply some spray-on rubber to points.Brian of St. Louis, MO

While driving at 65 mph on the freeway, my sunroof shattered. Broken glass everywhere inside my car, I took the car (2007 Toyota Scion TC) to the dealership for repair. It will cost $900 to repair the sunroof. Nothing hit the sunroof. It is a common problem with 2005 and 2006 TC. And now, I have this problem with my car.Farokh of Chatsworth, CA

Had my 2006 Scion TC for four years and has over 200,000 miles on it and I've had no major problems at all. I think I replace the alternator at one point. Tires because I drive a lot open that not a single problem.Pamm of Olathe, KS
