We have had numerous problems with our 2006 Saturn Vue, which all started with having to roll over extra payments from a 2005 Vue that we had multiple problems with. The first major issue we had was the torque converter, where they said they could never recreate the incident so couldnt help us.They finally replaced it (before the recall came out) and at that time, they also replaced the ignition because of the problems we were having trying to turn the key to start the car. We’re unsure if they actually replaced it or not. Now, we are once again having ignition problems and we are out of warranty. The GM dealership wants to charge me $80 for the ignition tumbler and $60 per key to recode them. That is with me installing it by the way.

Because I feed the community I need an SUV that was reasonably good on gas and had great recommendation. I love a smooth riding car that has plenty of room. The features on this Saturn Vue are very basic. It is very important to me not to be distracted while driving. It has been a great Driving Experience. It also is good on gas. I have driven quite a few miles with no problems and it is very important to me to have a lot of room to deliver food. I also like the radio and how it is easy to find. The maintenance on this car is very easy even I can do what needs to be done my radio stations and change the time on the clock. The air conditioner features are also easy to maneuver.

I just refinanced my moms 2008 Saturn Vue after she passed away - only 55K miles and the transmission just went out due to a confirmed broken wave plate and the metal went into the transmission. It is currently at the shop and I am waiting to hear the final cost to get it fixed. There are many people with the same issue and GM is not recalling this KNOWN problem. We need a class action lawsuit against GM. I havent even made the first payment on the refinance. This is why people leave GM and I have always been a GM person.

I bought my 2003 Saturn L200 in July of 2009 with only 31,000 miles on it. It was great for two years, until the Summer of 2011 when the odometer started spinning out of control. It added 50,000+ miles on it in a short time. It costs $1400 to fix the BCM (body control module) and took a month to fix. The dealer had to backorder the part. Now, my fuel pump has died repeatedly, leaving me stranded multiple times. The fuel pump at OReilly Auto Parts costs $350 and this was the cheapest price by far. Its currently at the mechanic for the third time and he is stumped. After the car died the second time, we figured we got a bad fuel pump. But somehow it is not getting power to the fuel pump. I was promised the GM would continue to uphold Saturns level of service. All Ive seen are expensive parts and time-consuming repairs. I will never buy a GM product again.

There was a funny smell in the car then the battery light went on. I called my mechanic and he told me to shut all heaters, radio and lights off in the car. I was about 25 km away from him. Fortunately, I made it to the mechanic without having to call a tow truck.

2006 Saturn Ion, Manual transmission - Slow engine light came on with the regular engine light just after the car passed the 80,000 mile mark. It had been running perfectly, a/c blowing beautifully. Now best mechanic in town cant figure out what is wrong. Sensors are running numbers that dont jive. Had already had the recall work done at the dealer. Was it a bad tank of gas? Its not the catalytic converter. Loved this car, but its scary reading about all of the problems that folks have and now my car maybe cant even be fixed. What is GM going to do with its lemons?

Like everyone else, the ignition lock failed on my 2007 Saturn Ion. Unlike everyone else, I was able to provide a reasonable, to me, solution for free. Simply remove the cover under the steering column. Disconnect the green wiring harness and the car shuts off. When you want to drive again, just plug it back in and turn the key. My car has been running this way for over a year. Good luck.

I have a 2001 Saturn SL1 with about 140 K miles. I have always owned Saturns since they first came out. We presently have a 2006 and 2007 Ion as well. All these cars were purchased NEW!! They were all serviced at the scheduled maintenance time. All of a sudden I had a major problem with the transmission of the 2001 car. It would just drop or slip in all gears, Including reverse. Since two years ago I paid 375 dollars to have the 2006 ignition problem fixed and then a few months later the same amount to pay for the 2007 Ion to have that ignition problem fixed (this was before the big GM recall even though I called often to see if there was a recall on that problem and told NO). I am now skeptical when I’m told there is no problem or recall with the transmissions either. I think someone at GM needs to look at all these transmission problems and correct them. Most people cannot afford to pay $3000 to fix a problem that serious.

I wanted to reply to Patricia of Signal Mountain, TN on June 25, 2014 specifically. Unfortunately the dealer and auto body shop you visited seem to be unaware of this particular issue that has affected many saturn customers. I bought a 2003 saturn ion brand new and 6 months later had my first issue with the car not starting. It wasnt a dead battery, or any other issue. It just would not start. I could go try again an hour later and the car would start. My ignition switch was replaced twice under warranty and it needs to be fixed again. The problem is something in the faulty wiring that trips a security message in the computer of the car that will not allow it to start. I recommend that you look it up online (google, youtube, saturnfans.com). There are countless pages dedicated to the exact issue your daughter is having. When you get a grasp of what the issue is, speak to a trusted mechanic. Let him know what you found out and I am sure they will be able to help. The solution is often as easy as a $25 ignition switch replacement.

It start making noise when turning to enter or exiting a parking. It sounds very hard when steering is turn left or right. This is my first Saturn Vue 2003 and to fix this problem it would cost me at least 2,000.00. I dont even take one of this for free.

I purchased a 2007 Saturn Outlook two years ago. During this time, my car was still under full warranty. I addressed to Saturn over and over that there was something wrong with the steering wheel; it shook and clicked. They kept saying it was fine and just some air in it. I also kept saying that there was hesitation in the engine and electrical issues, all this while it was under full warranty. They are now fixing the transmission and oil leak for the second time and also, the air bag sensor doesnt work and had not for over a year and GM is saying that they will not fix that or the broken steering column even though I have tried to have it fixed for two years. I have all my documents. Now, they are saying to go pick up the car or we have to pay for the rental because they cant help us yet and probably will not pay for the steering column or air bag sensor. This car has been a lemon since I bought it and I owe a lot on it and for the past week, I have been trying to get GM to fix those two items.

2004 Saturn ION: I was involved in a vehicular accident on 03/29/12. This was a 3-car pile up, with me on the tail end. I was driving approximately 40-45mph and hit a car in front of me. My airbags did not deploy. Luckily, I was not seriously injured, but my car was declared total. How can I lodge a complaint in regards to this issue? I have noticed while researching online that this has been a major issue for Saturns.

I purchase a 2002 Saturn Vue for my daughter in college. I have been a faithful Saturn owner without any issues prior. Since purchase, nothing but electrical problems - including a near crash on the freeway when the car abruptly slowed down to 10 mph. A recall is needed before someone is killed. Weve invested $2,000 to try and fix a ghost problem.

We bought our 2008 Saturn Outlook brand new six years ago as a means to travel on family vacations and have never had a problem with it until now. Weve maintained our Outlook by doing all the right things. On the way back from our family road trip in May, we noticed a knocking sound that seemed to go away once we made it back home. Subsequent to arriving home, we got a phone call from a GM dealer, asking us if we may want to trade in the Outlook for something else (something we had been thinking about anyway). On the way to the dealership, the knocking noise came back! The dealer indicated that the Outlook could not be traded due to a possible transmission problem. Well, we took it into the dealership later that week for diagnostic/service. It was diagnosed with reverse wave plate failure (estimated cost: $3,029); possible rear cat converter problem (est. cost $712). We later took to a transmission specialist who looked it over and determined it didnt have a transmission problem and they couldnt hear the noise. However, after putting it on the road, they noticed the noise and the shifting problem and quoted a repair cost of $3,000+. We went to pick up the truck to bring it back home and it could not shift in reverse! With the help of the service men, we had to push the truck in reverse to get off the lot only to realize that it would not go forward (in speed) more than 30 miles! The truck is dead! We do not have this kind of money laying around; and with 120 k miles on the Outlook, it just doesnt seem worth it to pay for a repaired transmission and definitely not a new one at $4,034!! This is so unfortunate; because we really enjoyed our Outlook. Now were faced with hard decisions to make, while in the meantime having to deal with the inconveniences of driving one car - a 2005 Hyundai Elantra that we also bought brand new and has never given us any serious mechanical problems. I wonder where we will purchase our next vacation SUV. Buyers beware. We feel like weve been set up to be let down. Our Outlook is in great exterior/interior condition and has never been involved in an accident. Were willing to be part of a class action suit.

My wifes 2008 Saturn Vue has 65000 miles on it. Less than a year out of warranty and without warning, the transmission started to slip. I was told by the transmission repair shop that the transmission would need to be repaired at a cost of $3000.00. The shop said there is a snap ring in these transmissions that is a common point of failure. I would estimate this is a $20.00 part at best. Why would GM continue to put cars on the market when they know there are issues with them? It appears this issue has been know about since at least 2005 and continues to 2010 based on my internet research. I feel GM has a responsibility to current Saturn owners and should recall these vehicles and make all those that have already failed eligible for restitution. I have been a lifelong GM owner but I have to say this one may be my last. If you are thinking about buying GM, I say stay away from them.

I have a 2006 Saturn ION which is on its third round of problems with the ignition switch. I had the switch replaced in September of 2010 by our local Chevy dealer. It cost me $395.00, and one week later I had to take it back to have it replaced a second time because it locked up. Now, it is now just 20 months later and the same thing has happened again. This time the dealer wants $525 for the same repair with a few more parts. They say the parts warranty is only 12 months or 12,000 miles and there is nothing they can do. GM needs to admit the problem here and make this right. If there is a class-action suit, I am in.

I had the ignition replaced in May, 2011. Now that the weather is getting cold, my car has refused to start twice. This is more of a safety issue than not being able to get the key out of the ignition. When is the government going to step in? I havent taken it to the dealership, but I am expecting a grand run-around while they try to bully me into paying for something theyve known is a problem.

This is the second time my ignition switch has locked up. I own a 2007 Saturn Ion Quad Coupe Manual and have almost paid off the darn thing. I have friends who can replace it just for cost of parts and a case of beer but this is ridiculous. Class action suit would be great for all the time and money spent on one part that is obviously faulty. Im willing to do anything to get Saturn/GM to become responsible for their faulty ignition scheme.

I have a 2005 Saturn Ion 3. The key wont release from the ignition when I shut the motor off. I have to sit in the car and keep trying to remove it, or wait a few minutes until I hear a thud in the column before it will release. I had a 1993 Saturn, and it had the same key release problem. Saturn should have found a remedy or upgrade to this problem by now.

From day one when I went and paid cash for my Saturn, I thought I was doing a good thing buying American made. Should have kept my Honda. It has been one thing after another with this car. I cant even remember there has been so many things, and now there is water in my drivers side floor for about the third time. First it was the sun roof, now we really dont know. The AC is not working so maybe that or plugged drains from sunroof. I have had it. And the original warranty was three years. Had to buy extended warranty, and they suck too. There is always some excuse why they dont cover whats wrong.

My 2000 Saturn LS now has 118,000 miles on it. 2 weeks ago it suddenly began emitting a very loud noise under the hood. It starts up immediately and drives smoothly, but when idling gets very loud. Took to mechanic. They thought maybe rocker arms had broken but they were fine. Could find no reason for the noise. They decided something must be sticking from built-up gunk so they replaced the Valve Cover Gasket, cleaned and put in some oil additive and let it run. The noise stopped, I picked the car up and it has been fine. Now 12 days later and only driven about 50 miles, it began the exact same thing, same noise, etc and it starts up immediately and drives smooth. But the noise is very loud when idling and I can hear a little bit of the noise when driving. I took it to the Mechanic this morning and left it. He did recommend a Power Steering Seal, and the output Shaft Seal has slow leak, but said it is not urgent to fix right now since I do not drive daily nor far. I see no leaks on the driveway. Any clue or suggestions on what could be causing this very loud noise? It does not overheat and oil pressure gauge indicates no problem. All fluid levels are fine and I just had an oil change and have only driven 1,000 miles since that was done. Help please!!

I love this Saturn, shes 2008 Saturn Aura. Its American-made, it has a nice roomy interior, the colors are beautiful neutral, the truck space is wonderful and there are certain aspects about it like cruise control and sunroof. This is a wonderful car. It has all the things that you need including air conditioning, Heat, great radio comfortable seats, cruise control, large back seat, large trunk, its well-made and easily maintained. It gets decent gas mileage and Ive driven it for over a hundred twenty thousand miles and were still going strong. But the drivers seat is hard to get just ride in terms of distance from the gas pedal and distance from the steering wheel so that youre not up on the wheel but you have some ability to be somewhat back, the rear view mirror never seems to quite be where it needs to be, and it doesnt always have the most energetic get-up-and-go of any car Ive ever owned.

Last night after stopping at a local store, I attempted to turn my 2006 Saturn Ion off. The key would not move backwards and therefore, I could not remove it from the ignition slot. Obviously, I was unable to turn the car off. Since it was about 6:30 when this happened, I tried a couple of auto parts stores, but they found the problem strange. Finally, I drove it to a certified dealership for them to keep overnight. Today I found out that the key, cylinder, and housing would need to be replaced for $650.00! I am the only one earning money for my kids and myself. The consequence is that I do not feel I can afford a new car, so I am stuck paying for a problem that perhaps should be officially recalled. I can tell from this website that I am not the only one with the problem.

The ignition switch I can put the key fine on it, but when it comes to take it, it gets stuck. Im just frustrated with it. Its just so ridiculous that i have to sit in the car and wait until I heard a clicking sound on the steer wheel column. And now with the winter, if the temperature is low like approximately 20s degrees Fahrenheit, the car wont start at all. I believe myself the company should take the action and responsibility over this. About most of the people who owns a Saturn got the same issues.

My transmission went out on my 2008 Saturn Vue xr around August 7, 2014. It had 103,000 miles. I had to get it fixed costing about 3300 hundred dollars. Now today August 21, 2014 I go out to start my vehicle and it wont crank, lights wont even come on. My key is stuck in ignition and will not come out. It ran okay for about a week, now this. Is there a recall on this vehicle?

About 6 months ago, my key would not turn all the way to the off position and slide out. The mechanic stated that it was the shift solenoid and ignition. Now 6 months later, my car wont turn off. I would put it in park and try to turn the key to the off position but the key would not budge. I have to disconnect the ignition fuse to turn the ignition off and then disconnect the battery cable so the battery wont die.

I have a 2008 Saturn Outlook. My water pump went out 2 months ago. Then one day my car started jerking... too dangerous to drive. I took it to my auto mechanic. I thought they fixed it. They said it was the throttle... replaced ($558.00). Car still not fixed. Now that I am doing my research, I see the same problems you are all experiencing. I do not have money for any major repairs! GM needs to step up as this is an obvious recall! Very dangerous to drive so it’s parked! Shame on GM for putting their consumers’ lives at risk!

I have the same problem. I just had the recall from GM done on my 03 Saturn Ion today. They replaced the switch and ignition lock cylinder because of cars going dead because the ignition switch turned off easily with a little weight on the key ring. Accidents occurred and they were sued. This was not for and did not fix the problem of the key not turning all the way off without reaching underneath and pressing the solenoid plunger which feels like a switch (They said nothing when replacing the new switch if this ever happened then). I did not inform them of the problem either.I just found a fairly new video on YouTube that concerns this very problem. Watch the video. Long story short, the shifter micro-switch is not engaging either because of a bad switch or a bad placement fit of the switch to where the plunger of the switch is not being depressed as to close the switch and therefore allow voltage to be applied to the ignition switch solenoid, freeing the cylinder to turn off. The YouTube video title is Saturn Ion key ignition stuck wont come out (solved) manual override & troubleshoot . Search for: video ** by Danroxye01. He made a later one to better explain with audio of what he found out.

As has happened to many Saturn owners, our 2006 Ions ignition has locked up. I cant pull the key out or shut the car off. I have called a Chevy dealer and they are not covering this under warranty or recall at this time. This will be a $300 repair and has been happening to thousands of people. This problem should be covered by a recall. We had to replace lock housing, and cylinder and reprogram.

I have had to replace the ignition key & tumbler and housing twice in the last 5 years because my key gets stuck in the ignition and the car will not turn off. The last time I did this was in August 2010. Now, it is starting again. When I put my car into park the car will shut off, but it takes me about 10 minutes to get the key out. I have to restart, back-up, pull forward, rinse & repeat. It hasnt reached the point yet to where the car wont turn off but I know it is near in the future since this is how it started the other two times. I really cant afford another $600 to get this fixed again. This is a constant problem yet GM will not issue a recall to help the owners out. I will never ever again buy another GM product. This is frustrating! Does anyone happen to know of a class-action lawsuit that may be in the works? If so, please share.

Just got my 2003 Saturn l300 two years ago at a dealership used. Started having trouble when the battery needed changed. The horn/door locks quit working then it kept getting stuck in park. Intermittent problems for months. Not having the money to fix this problem I decided to look online for answers. And from everything I have read and learned my problem is the (bcm) or body control module. What irritates me is that the only way to fix this issue is to take to a dealership to be replaced and reprogrammed as it costs from 700 to $900 dollars to be done! I still make payments on this piece of junk as I dont have credit for new cars. Im paying for a car to sit in my driveway and cause me stress! If this is such a common issue why hasnt this been put into a recall? Why should I pay for this junk!

I have a 2005 Saturn Ion. I have had the same problem with my car for over a year. I have not brought it in because I do not have the money to get it fixed then have the problem happened again. I am fed up with this car. I will be trying to call the dealership. There needs to be a recall on this problem! Also just recently I have had problems with it shutting off. It did it twice to me in 1 day-- when I coasted to a safe spot, I put it in park, shut it off and it wouldnt start for at least 5 minutes. I am not sure what is going on. If anybody else has problems with this, can you please email me or something. We all need to do something about these problems we keep having.**.com. I want to hear about similar problems.

A couple months ago, I was driving with my 3 kids in the car when I came to a stop light. Once it turned green, I pushed on the accelerator and nothing happened, except the RPMs revved up high, but I was going maybe 10 mph. I was less than a mile from home, so we made it safely, but when I went to pull in driveway it almost stopped completely and then realized it didnt reverse at all! The next day it was fine. A few months later now, the engine light comes on and off as it pleases, and as we are driving the car will give a jolt and just drop the speed, all while rpms go higher. I am so terrified that we are going to get into an accident!! I cant believe there has been no recall on this when there are literally hundreds of people with this problem! My husband was recently let go at his job so we cannot afford a new transmission, which I hear is costing around $3500!! I have always had Saturns and never had any major problems with the others until this one. Its such a safety issue that with all the recalls that GM is doing, it baffles me that this one hasnt been done yet.

I have a 2006 Saturn Ion, which up until the past 6 months Ive enjoyed owning. It refuses to start about once every 20th (or so) attempt. When it finally does start, I cant figure out why since I hadnt done anything different than I had done previously at least a few times. Unreliable! Too bad, I really enjoyed this ride.

I bought a new 08 saturn 84k miles ago. The transmission is not getting me up to speed. Im being honked at. The engine revs high but the speed is very slow. Reading reviews I see its a common trans problem. I have it at the shop now. They cant find anything wrong. The trans place couldnt find a problem either. It happens intermittent. Now back to the transmission shop again. Im clearly expecting a 4k bill.

Last year, my key got stuck in the ignition and I paid $800.00 dollars to have a new ignition in Aug 2010. Now, Im having the same problem again. I brought it to the dealer who said that there was no problem. They lubricated the ignition and the key came out. Now, two weeks later, Im encountering the same problem. I cannot believe that there is no recall on this. I refuse to keep paying for the same ** problem. Apparently, I was not the only consumer with this problem with the 2007 Saturn Ion. It was crazy and expensive to keep repairing it. The dealer informed me that the part has a one-year warranty. Either the U.S. makes crappy parts or there is a major issue with this.

I feel like I am rebuilding my Saturn Aura. It has 200,800 miles on it, I bought my 2007 Saturn AuraXE in 2008 with 23000 miles on it. Have a 2006 Saturn Ion 3 with about 58K miles. Loaned it to father-in-law for the weekend. He calls to tell me he cant turn it off. Drives to GM dealer, who pulls fuse to turn off car. Two days later, I get the call that it will cost $600 to fix ignition. How do we get GM to own up to this obvious recall issue with the Saturn ignitions! Any lawyers out there?

I, too, will add a complaint about my key getting stuck and my car not shutting off. Also, it often won’t start for 10 to 30 minutes randomly. I live in the desert and have been stuck with my 2 small toddlers in the heat with a car that just wont start. The vehicle says, “Service engine.” And having serviced it, it still happens. This ignition switch problem is a huge safety issue and needs to be recalled. If I end up in a dangerous situation and cant flee because my car won’t start, that’s a problem. I have another baby on the way and I don’t even feel comfortable taking my kids with me in this car because I fear being stranded in the heat with them. Though it eventually works, babies can get heat stroke and so can I, sitting in or out of the car while we wait. When it was diagnosed, I have been told nothing seems to be wrong. In contacting GM, there haven’t been enough complaints to warrant a recall. I am reporting this as a safety issue and will also be contacting the NTSA.

Saturn Ion is a compact car with less miles than the others and it was cheaper than the other models I was looking at and its good on gas and the air conditioner works great for the money I paid for it. It has new tires and a big trunk which will help me a lot when buying for the grandkids. Good car for $600. It looks good and it drives like a new car and I like the color of the car. But needs an oil pump and windshield wipers. The cluster is in the middle of the dash which is strange and hard to get used to. Dislike the shape of the car, the driver side window will not let down and the car can only be unlocked from the passenger side.

I recently was involved in a vehicular accident with my 2006 Saturn Ion3. Although I was traveling at approximately 40 mph when I crashed into another vehicle, the airbag didnt deploy. By the airbag not deploying, On Star wasnt notified of the crash. Since OnStar is their premiere system, it might be good if the very thing that will get help, actually works. My car was totaled, and they dont make Saturns anymore, but maybe somebody might want to check out the airbag on these vehicles to make sure they actually work. Mine didnt.

New engine at 106,000. We just bought the Saturn 2008 Outlook at 76,000 less than 2 years ago. We have already put in $600 in fixes, and now we found out the engine needs to be replaced for $5000. This car has been a total lemon. Researching the v6 3.6 lt engine we have found out that it is a piece of junk.

I bought my wife a brand new 2007 Saturn Ion. I have had it back in dealer service 4 times, with no solution to key getting stuck in the ignition. I have finally given up. I will have to sit in the car for up to 10 minutes until the car decides to release the key, as if it has a mind of its own! Very frustrating!

I am having the same issue as everyone else here as far as the ignition not shutting off on my 2006 Saturn Ion. Thankfully (I guess), I have a manual transmission and was able to turn off the car by popping the clutch. I called GM and they were uncooperative. They would not tell me if the issue was being looked into by them. So, I called Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and filed a complaint. The number is 1-888-327-4236 (Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 8:00pm Eastern). It literally took me under five minutes. Its the only way that anyone will take any notice of this sort of thing. I suggest you call and complain as well.

The 2006 Saturn Ion key gets stuck in the ignition. It will come out while in ACC position, but the key wont turn all the way back to off. I had no idea that this was a common problem. I am the only owner of this car. It now has 100,000 miles.

We have a 2008 Saturn Aura, it has 80 thousand miles. One day, the wife was driving it. It made a noise and bam, the car died. I talk to some people and they said it was the timing chain. So we took in to get looked at and the garage said they took off one of the valve covers off, and all the valves were broke in half. Its going to cost a lot of money. This stinks.

We purchased a 2008 Saturn with 76,000 miles. In May 2014 we begin having transmission problems. Upon researching the net we discovered other owners having problems and GMC doing a recall. I begin correspondence and after eight months and numerous e-mails and recall letters we were told that due to the 19,000 mile over their criteria of 120,000 we were out of luck. But to show their goodwill they decided to give us a $2,000 dollar credit toward a NEW 2015 GMC. But not a credit toward having this piece of Saturn repaired at a cost of $4,000.00. per Jim **.

I have a 2003 Saturn Vue. The last couple of years Ive had the same issue with my key. First it would just come out with the car on. Then periodically stick and not come out. I was just searching a website to find out where to get another key and found all these complaints. The key actually is shaved down and the teeth are almost smooth, so I know its grinding on something. I just figured with Saturn out of business, I have no recourse. Now to hear the expense it will cost is crazy. Is there anything can I do?

Small and compact with only so many people could get in. But it carries food in a very tight space to where the groceries will not spill or fall over. Good the features, the graphics are outstanding and its a very reliable vehicle and supportive for my needs as well. But to add some of the fluid, you actually physically have to lift up the car. Also, the repairs on the vehicle can get expensive if youre not sure where to get them from.

I purchased a 2003 Saturn Vue in 2009. Regretfully, I did not do my homework before purchasing. The transmission went out along with the transfer case. I paid $4976.23 for a new tranny and a rebuilt transfer case. The car has lost significant MPGs and will not shift correctly since the new install. It has greatly reduced power at take-off and there is screeching/clunking noise when turning left. GM dealership told me I need a new front differential now, a cost of $5,400. This car is a disgrace. I am still making payments on it. I have paid more in repairs then I have on my monthly payments. Is there any advice on reimbursement for all these expense? Do I have recourse?

I took my Saturn into the dealership to be fixed. The brake pedal goes all the way to the floor before stopping. The dealership stated that the car was not safe to drive at all and that the brake booster hose ($33.00 part) needed to be replaced. After 3 full weeks in the dealership without repair, the service department requested we call and see if we could get a part as General Motors was not able to supply the parts to fix the car. I called the parts supplier as I was told by Maria that General Motors did not have the parts for a Saturn and did not have a clue when or if they would.” She made it clear that the parts supplier wont talk to General Motors and vice versa.I asked her what GM was going to do about my predicament. She told me that I should not expect GM to have the parts for the car due to its age (Federal Law mandates parts be available for 10 years post production) and GM would do nothing to help. GM expects me to buy another car.I asked about the 10-year law and how GM was going to handle that. She stated that the part has not been discontinued and that means it is available. That backordered indefinitely leaves them within the scope of the law. I am aware of another person who has waited 14 months for GM to make the part needed for her car.

My 2007 Saturn Ion recently started having trouble starting. I assumed it was because of the cold weather, then I started smelling gasoline inside and outside my car. I took in the RJ & G Auto Care in Raleigh, North Carolina and they found that I had a crack in my fuel pump on the supply side, meaning it was not something that I did wrong. It was the manufacturer. I dealt with Jerry ** (the manager) and he was very nice and helpful! He checked with Bob ** on whether or not there was a recall on fuel pumps (there were not) and if it was under warranty so it could be replaced for free (which it was). Because RJ & G had to drop my gas tank to find the problem, I was charged $174.74. It was then towed from RJ & G to Bob Murray on Capital Blvd, costing me $85.00. I feel that I should be reimbursed the $259.74 that I had to pay out of pocket for something I did not cause. It is absolutely ridiculous that a 2007 with 53, 580 miles (at time of service) had a crack in the fuel pump! I am so thankful for Jerry who saved me a few hundred dollars but the problem should have never occurred. I asked Jerry if there was anything that I could have done to cause the crack and he said absolutely not. He came to this conclusion based on where the crack was at.

I bought my 2006 Saturn Ion with only 30,000 or so miles around this time last year. This past winter, it was constantly not turning on. It would take me about 50+ tries in order for it to start. I took it to several trusted mechanics who couldnt find any problem at all. Now as I am waiting for a potential employer to call me back about a job, I have no vehicle. My transmission just stopped working! The gears change perfectly fine but drive, neutral, and first and second just dont do anything at all. But reverse works perfectly well.

2007 Saturn ION2: Three times, I have gotten into my car, turned the key, and nothing...no noise, nothing... Waited an hour, and then it was fine. Now, I parked my car, went to turn off the car, but the key wouldnt budge, and the car would not shut off. Followed the manual to put the car in parked, open a little compartment under the steering wheel, push in a plunger, and hold it to the drivers door and remove the key...IT DIDNT WORK! Had to pull the due and disconnect the battery to turn the car off, but the key is still stuck in the ignition. Even if you turn the key too far, there is no noise. I think it is electrical too...I read somewhere that someones car just shut off while driving...I AM PETRIFIED TO DRIVE THIS CAR. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT FROM THIS AND SUE GM, SINCE SATURN IS OUT OF BUSINESS! IS THAT WHAT IT IS GOING TO TAKE BEFORE THIS GETS RECALLED!!!

I think Im going to kill myself from the financial downfall that this car has put me in. I owned it for 8 months (February 2011) and bought for $12,000. The first repair was rebuilding the transmission at $4000. Second repair was at $200 and it was for the battery that’s draining for no good reason. Third repair is for a bad celluloid and a bad fuel pressure sensor; cost is $675. I also have the problem with the steering wheel. I’m just waiting for that one to go next.$12,000 plus $4,000 plus $200 plus $675 for a total of $16,875. That’s the cost for a 2007 Saturn Aura with 65,000 miles on it and no warranty. I hate you GM. I will never buy one of your cars ever again. Tell everyone you know!

I bought my Ion with cash a year ago. The first time I drove it through the canyon, I tried using the cruise control. It took several attempts but eventually it set. Unfortunately hitting the brake or engaging the clutch did not disengage the cruise control. Turning it off also did nothing. The best I could do is put it in neutral and let the RPSMs scream until eventually the cruise control disengaged. After this, several times while driving in town, in the city, with the cruise control button switched off, my car would engage the cruise control and begin to accelerate and I was unable to disengage it again but managed to avoid any accidents. I finally disconnected the battery to erase the memory and clear out any previous cruise control settings. Still cannot find anyone that can solve this mystery. My current problem is this: I was on the freeway when my car began to squeal much like the sound of a belt. The motor ran ok and I actually made it home and the car cut out in the driveway and will not start. I turned the key and it makes a very bizarre sound I have never heard before. Anyone w/ anything?

I will never buy a GM product again. My Saturn Aura only has 72,000 miles, and the transmission has already broken. Trying to deal with GM is a joke -everything from the dealership to customer service. Our warranty expired one month ago, but I am still 27,000 miles under the 100,000-mile mark, and of course, GM does not want to do anything about it. My car has been in the shop for over 5 days, and I am constantly being told I have to pay more for diagnostics. How many error codes need to pop up for GM to admit they made lemon of a car? All GM cares about is getting you in the door; once you are there, customer service no longer cares.

They said it was the key; the tumblers were bad, and they re-keyed it. The Saturn still locks up, and cannot get the key out. Another problem is it would not steer the other day. I waited for a while then it steered just fine, and drove home. How do we get a recall on this issue? You buy a car and pay a lot of money, and then it has no reliability. I am concerned about going anywhere using a car that will just get me stranded.

My mother, like most people who received a recall letter in the mail this past year and who also happens to be one of the fortunate ones that can live to tell this story took her 2005 Saturn Ion to Love Chevrolet to have it serviced due to the ignition switch recall. Mind you there had been no issues with the car prior to. Where some people might say Saturns were poorly made my mothers car was actually one of the good ones. I always felt safe in it and more than safe enough to have my 5 year old daughter in the car. Whats the motto? If it isnt broke, dont fix it? Well, to say the least the day after Love put a generic ignition switch into her Saturn Ion handed her a new set of keys and told her the car was more than safe to drive long distances it was being towed off the side of the road. Their claim? My mother needed a new starter, 2 coil replacements and a new module and that the timing of the repairs was coincidental with what took place. The dealership was quick to tell us how much it would cost to replace the parts and was even quicker to let us know they would not be paying for it. Coincidental? Really?? Strike one. Thanks, GM. A few days later a family friend and mechanic does some research online, finds a starter from another Saturn and installs the part himself hoping to save my mother some money. However he is unable to run a diagnostic on the module because there is a code to get into it and only GM knows this code. Does that even sound legal to anyone else? GM has a code on your car making it near impossible for you to send it to any other place to have it fixed?? Its brilliant and slimy all at the same time..more slimy than brilliant. Anyhow, once the starter has been replaced all is well for about 3 hours and then its back to the side of the road we go. However, this time weve noticed some things. The car has no power, almost as if the battery has been drained and there is a smell coming from the ignition switch like something has burned up. So, with better judgment my mother decides to have it towed to a very trusted shop out in town instead of back to the GM dealership. I myself am military and stationed in Norfolk, VA and I often times wait to have maintenance done on my own car until Im visiting my mother in SC at this very shop, that is how trusted they are to me and my family. They explain to my mother that it is her ignition switch which is burning up her starter and draining her battery and they will personally give GM a call to find out what can be done since they should replace their faulty part. Sounds about right to me! GMs rebuttal? The mechanics my mother chose are not certified GM mechanics, a diagnostic was done previously while the car was at GM and since then my mother has had multiple hands in the car which could have caused those failures. They cannot be held responsible and will not be held responsible. Once again, GM was prepared with the labor and parts quote. Strike two and three. Thanks again, GM. Now, tell me something. Even if we were willing to have GM fix this again the trust is now out the window and my mother would be afraid to drive her car anywhere much less with my 5 year old daughter in it. I believe they would quietly fix the ignition switch issue and tell her it was something completely different. Is GM secretly trying to make up all the money they lost in labor for these recalls by putting parts in to cars they know are not necessarily compatible in hopes that these codes will force people to come back and have to pay out of pocket expenses? I know that my mother would hate to have another car payment right now but I have a feeling that regardless of if we spend the money to fix this or not that is exactly where we will end up, in a Honda dealership. People, please pay attention to what is going on out there with this recall. I would hate for this to happen to anyone else or worse. Thanks for absolutely nothing GM.

I have a 2004 Saturn ION and my key kept getting stuck in the ignition. One day, I came home and could not shut my car off. I was just getting home from taking my daughter to the doctor because of a temperature of 103 (plus it was also 90 outside) so instead of taking her in my house to let her rest, we went to the mechanic. Fortunately, I didnt take it to a Saturn dealership, where I would have been way over charged. I went to the local mechanic where I paid $300 to get the key out of the ignition and have a new ignition installed. Obviously, this is not just a fluke and Saturn needs to pay for the repair. Now, neither of my windows will go up or down either; one stopped and then three months later, the other. I dont know why Saturn is not around anymore.

I bought a 2002 Saturn Ion sl2 and Ive had nothing but problems. How is it that these crooks are allowed to get away with this? My ignition locked up while I was driving leaving me stranded for three hours on a busy road in 100 degree heat with no extra money for a tow truck or to get it fixed, and unable to after replacing the ignition to unlock the vehicle. I am glad that my son was not in the car with me and there was no accident as an outcome of this or GM would be hearing from my attorney. I will be getting rid of this car immediately. And the thing that irritates me the most is that NO ONE from this company cares. They care about making their money and robbing people, people like me who had to save up months to be able to purchase a vehicle hoping it would be reliable and safe to transfer my son and I from daycare, work and school. I will never purchase another vehicle through them again. Now I have to worry about how I will be repairing a vehicle I dont have money to fix and still pay my bills and find a way to work and school. Thank you so much for your poor engineering.

I bought a 2002 Saturn L200 in mid-2010, with verified low mileage (26,000 miles) for my daughter. In July 2011, (current mileage 39,000 miles), the vehicles timing chain broke while she was driving at highway speed. There was no warning. She was able to pull over to the median but the car wouldnt start again and had to be towed.

I have a 2004 Saturn Ion I purchased new. I am on my third try fixing the ignition. I had worked on it in August 2011, June 2012 and now. The dealership has replaced twice in two days the ignition housing, switch and other things; and it still will not work. I have been working on spending $2,000 on this issue. Twice, I could not turn the key and had it towed, and once, it would not shut off.

My 2006 Saturn Ion with only 43,500 miles on it would not start because of not being able to turn the key. I had to be towed to the GM dealer. They replaced the ignition housing and cylinder at the cost of $413.00. Its still acting up somewhat when I try to turn the key, it seem to stick somewhat. I just hope it keeps starting the car. After reading all the complaints about the same problem, I think its about time there was a recall on this problem. I am going to call the consumer affairs department of Saturn at 1-800-553-6000, I found this number online. I hope everyone who reads this also calls this same number.

As read in all of the other reviews, I am both happy and sad. Happy to see that I am not the only one with this issue and sad to see that GM has not done anything about it! So my key also gets stuck when I am trying to turn off my car. I did notice that if you wait patiently, you will eventually hear a little click sound. When you hear that sound, then the key will come out. Well it does it on my car. I am not sure if it does it on all but if you hear the click once, you will know what to look for. I have a new problem now. I parked my car in my driveway last night then went back into the car to run to the store and I am having the opposite problem. I turn the key to start the car and it gets stuck before the car can start. So now I cannot start the car! I was looking to see if there were any recalls and I found hundreds of complaints. I saw another writer mention a class action law suit. Perhaps that is the way to go.
My 2006 Saturn Ion would not turn off and the key was locked in the ignitio
My 2006 Saturn Ion would not turn off and the key was locked in the ignition. I am a nursing student and I missed a very important meeting due to this issue. I drove to a Firestone and he said that he has fixed at least 50 Saturn Ions with this same issue this year. He also said due to Saturn parts being in an unorganized warehouse, it would take at least five to 10 business days until he would be able to receive the part. So I could be out of a car for possibly two weeks. And it will cost around $600 for repair and labor. I will also have to pay for a rental during this time! Saturn and General Motors need to be held accountable if so many consumers are having the same issue! The key of my 2007 Saturn got locked in the on position and couldnt turn off. I know other Saturn owners who have had the same problem; I found numerous complaints on the Internet.

2004 Saturn Ion 2 - The timing chain on my vehicle broke while I was driving to work and the car was disabled. The estimated repair is $6,000, which is more than the book value of the car. The car only had 100,000 miles on it. The repairman cant even find a rebuilt engine because the Saturn engines have all had the same problem. I bought the car new and did all of the recommended maintenance on it. I had planned on driving it for a few more years. I was told that the timing chain would last the life of the car and changing it was not necessary. This was told to me by the Saturn dealer, which of course is now out of business.

Vue 2.2 5MT 2004 - I bought this car after careful consideration. I needed an SUV, 5MT (I love manual) and a gas saver. Saturn Vue was one of very few vehicles on the US market which satisfied my requirements. However, before buying it, do your research (as I did)! The 2.2 engine is good on gas and has chain instead of belt (so no worries about changing it), but stay away from 2.2 CVT vehicles!!! This is the most unreliable transmission I ever heard of. I have never read a single review about CVT where the transmission wasnt changed (which costs about $5000). 5MT Saturns only come with FWD, no AWD versions, but I have never experienced any problems getting stuck even during this horrible winter. And in terms of reliability, 5MT cannot even be compared to CVT, its very difficult to kill it, only if you dont know how to drive a manual at all and shift with grinding all the time - while a CVT can die every moment, without warning. However, with 5MT, dont forget that you should change both your transmission fluid (DEXRON III, dont use VI!!! Or, I use Pennzoil Syncromesh) and brake fluid in the clutch mechanism in time. Some people think these dont have to be changed, and its completely wrong. If your fluid is black, youre certainly killing your clutch or transmission. If youre a DIY person, its very easy to do both. However, there are several serious drawbacks. First, at RPMs above 3000, the engine is noisy. And at the same time, the transmission is built very strangely, so that at 40 mph you can already put it in 5th. As a result, at highway speeds (~70-75 mph) your RPMs are between 3200 and 4000 approximately. So engine noise inside the cab is guaranteed. Its not too loud, but its audible, the only thing that makes it tolerable is the whistling of air (I couldnt understand where its coming from) so that the engine noise doesnt seem so loud. I dont know why Saturn made such a transmission. I was riding with my friend in his Honda, its automatic, but still, at 60 mph his RPMs were only about 2000, while Saturn has at least 2500 on the tachometer even in 5th gear. Why make such a transmission? Of course its noisy when the engine runs constantly between 3300-4000 RPM on a highway! And at the same time, why did they install this dashboard which proudly says that the maximum speed is 130 mph? This transmission cant go even close to that, it will reach maximum RPMs well before. And by the way, if the engine didnt work at such high RPMs, it would have even better highway gas mileage. This is Saturn...I wont say anything about cheap plastic materials in the cab, I dont care about this, and its not a luxury car. If you need extreme comfort and expensive cab interior, buy something like a Cadillac and pay for servicing its numerous electronic devices. For me, the advantage of this car is its simplicity, I can fix or change most of the stuff myself. Also, there are stupid things which are just gross mistakes of the designers. Take the clutch: the bleeder valve is metal, but the tube which holds it is plastic, so if you want to change your old black fluid and then bleed the system, be very careful, because the valve may be rusty and stuck, and you can easily break the plactic tube and disable your car until it is replaced (youll have to buy a new master brake cylinder as this tube is not sold separately). Why couldnt they make this tube metal instead of plastic, knowing that there may be some effort needed to turn the valve??? Probably because its cheaper...And finally, Id like to mention the headlights. In this car they are the most horrible Ive ever seen. They sit in deep wells so the light beam is very narrow and only lights up a small piece of the road, not speaking about street signs - you can forget about it. At the same time, if you try to install a powerful bulb, youll see the other problem - the idiot designers didnt make a glare screen in front of the bulb, instead, theres a strange-looking and completely useless tube! I have specially looked at lots of other vehicles, they all have either projectors or a glare cap! But Saturn decided that Vue drivers dont need them! So if you install a powerful bulb, you have to make sure its the type with end painted, otherwise oncoming drivers are looking directly at your bulb, not covered by anything! At the same time, this light is just wasted, instead of being reflected by the glare cap and thrown onto the main reflector to magnify the beam. Bravo, Saturn! A very wise decision! I also have to mention that the high beams are poor as well, and they are located separately from low beams (different bulbs) but adjusted together. Which is horrible because normal car manufacturers make high beam HIGH - so that its ABOVE low beam cutoff. No such luck with the Vue - the high beams are practically on the same level as low beams, and if you try to raise them so they can do their work, low beams are raised too and start blinding oncoming traffic! But if you adjust low beams so that they dont blind, your so-called high beams point to the ground and are practically useless! Ive never seen more stupid headlights. And worst of all, there are NO aftermarket modified (e.g. projector) headlights for this car, theyre all the same stupid type! But overall, the cars not bad and I didnt have too many issues with it. Just dont buy CVT versions. And check the clutch before buying it, the replacement is expensive. If you dont know what to look for, bring a friend who knows a lot about manual cars.

I am fed up! I bought a 2000 Saturn SL2 just a few months ago; it had 139,000 miles on it at the time of purchase. I bought it from a used car dealership which I have dealt with in the past and I have always gotten good cars from them. They check their vehicles out thoroughly before they are put on the lot for sale. Three months after purchase (and, I might add, being treated as though it were made of gold), the transmission started giving me problems with the gears not wanting to engage when shifted. I contacted the dealership, who referred me to their transmission shop. They diagnosed the problem as a defective valve body and told me that this is a common problem with Saturns. Since they replaced the said valve body, the car shifts worse than ever! It slams into reverse, it slams into second and third gear, and now I am afraid to drive it (I might also add that this car is necessary for my job). I have contacted the shop and they have agreed to look at the car again. But reading all these other complaints against Saturn, I hold very little hope that the problem can be fixed or that the dealership will continue to put out money to fix a car that, by all accounts, will just continue to give me problems. Saturn stinks, and the company should be heartily ashamed of themselves! If this transmission cant be fixed and the dealer decides not to stick any more of their money into it, I will lose my job because I cant get to work; this is the only vehicle I have. I cant afford to have it fixed on my own and I still owe about $4500 on the car.
Over the last two months, I have had some problems when I would turn my car
Over the last two months, I have had some problems when I would turn my car off and the key would not disengage after. I fooled with it and the key would disengage. Was driving to work on 6/13 13 in the morning; I was running along at 65 when I heard a slight click noise. At the same time, the engine and the gauges cut off. The radio was still working. I coasted off-road, turned the key again, and the car started right up. Never had that happen.Got to work and went out four hours later to start the car. It started right up, but I could not turn it off. I tried everything I knew. I took it to a local shop, and they replaced the broken parts in the steering column for the ignition key and the switch assembly. Total cost was $598.00. Does anyone know if there was a silent recall for that issue that they are not telling people? I would like to know.

I purchased my Saturn Outlook as a demo in July of 2007 with about 13,000 miles. My transmission failed at only 48,000 miles and was rebuilt since I was still under warranty. Now less than 20,000 miles and 2 years later, I am having the same gear change, engine light, stalling and jerking problems that I experienced at 48,000 miles. Now no longer under warranty, I am paying all kinds of service and labor fees when GM is well aware of the faulty clutch wave plate destroying transmissions in its vehicles. They need a recall on this product as it is a safety issue for Americans all across this country. Shame on GM for sweeping this issue under the rug and giving American products a bad name. It will come back to bite them in the end!

I was driving my VUE on the feeder road of the freeway when I came to the stop sign and as I began to take off my engine just revved up and would not go. I put it in park and turned the car off and it started up fine but when I tried to put in drive it just wouldnt move. I then had it towed to a mechanic shop and they looked at it and said it needed a new transmission which would be about 5,000. I took it to several shops and they all basically said the same thing. I was told by this one shop here in Houston, TX that there was a lawsuit against GM and I would have to pay for the repairs upfront but that GM would reimburse me. So I did a little research and I have seen several blogs on this subject but I guess I didnt do enough. I paid the repair shop $4900.00 to fix the transmission and still it doesnt run right. I have had to take it back to them 2 times for them to fix the transmission. GM should pay for the repair costs and there shouldnt be a time limit when we could have filed a claim. Im sure there are more Saturn cars that will be having the same problem in the future and were going to be stuck paying more for repairs than the car is probably worth.

My daughter has a Saturn ion redline that was part of the recall. Her car started to have problems starting, so she took it to a repair shop and they ran diagnostics and found nothing wrong with the car. It happened again, so she took it elsewhere and they suggested she change the battery - so she did. The very next day she had difficulty starting the car on two occasions and on the third attempt later that night it would not start at all. Since the recall had been for the car suddenly shutting down - not starting, we didnt think about the recall until after that. She had hit a hidden bump in the road before it stopped completely. She called the former Saturn dealer and told them what happened and they said it was the recall (we had read up on the forums and knew it was by then) and to have it towed to them - which we did. They gave her a Buick to drive. Today they called and said they had replaced the part and it still wouldnt start so it had to be the cars engine. They want to run diagnostics (which we had already done). Understandably, we dont trust them. Has anyone else had this experience?

I purchased a 2008 saturn aura xr in May 2013. The first night I realized my alarm and locks didnt work unless I pulled up to unlock each door or pushed the lock on each door down to lock the car which is just irritating. Then 2 days later the left tire sensor went out, 3 weeks after getting the car my check engine light, service esc and traction control came on. We thought those issues were taken care of when I took car back to dealership but here I am 10 different shops later & no one can tell me whats wrong with my car. The car turns on & off while driving making me lose all power steering power brakes & its scary. Ignition lock light randomly comes on. Car will start freaking out while Im driving it with 2 kids in rear facing car seats in the back & Im terrified I will get in an accident with my kids in the car & not one shop can tell me what is wrong with my vehicle. Just got car back after it being in shop for 7 weeks & its worse than its ever been. I cant drive this car. Its not safe, it has a mind of its own & the dash board & everything electrical goes crazy while Im driving the car. Ive contacted saturn & email, called anyone I could. All saturn did was pay for them to diagnose my car & diagnoses was nothing was wrong. I have a video of my gas gauge jumping up & down & everything going crazy on dash board while Im driving the car. I cant get anyone to call me back now even though I have a claim # & I just want to know whats wrong with my only car. I have 2 kids 1 car & need to find out whats wrong with car & saturn wont even call me back.

My key gets stuck in my Saturn Ion ignition switch. It turns as far back that the car turns off but that the radio is still on. This problem has caused my battery to die a few times but for the most part, it is just a pain to remember to go back for my key before bed. Sometimes it will come out within seconds; other times, it is several hours. As I read on this site and a few others, it is a big issue. I wish they would issue a recall. Just the other day, I received a letter about a recall on the power steering. Hopefully, they will have one for this too!

I just got a 5 speed and you wont have any of these problems. Look on Craigslist. Every Saturn Vue is being sold because the trans went out, same with Mazda. Im looking for a used Saturn. Theres no way Im buying an automatic.

I purchased an almost new 2008 Saturn Ion. Immediately I experienced mechanical problems. After taking it to the dealership, I found that the key was stuck and the engine wouldnt shut off. In the end, I would need to replace the ignition, the ignition module, etc. to the tune of over $800. I had paid almost $10,000 into payments and havent been able to drive the car for over two years. It just sits collecting dust.

I own a 2006 Saturn Ion with a little over 50,000 miles (purchased new). My key got stuck in the cylinder as well and the car would not stop running. I took my vehicle to a local auto shop and got the ignition lock cylinder replaced, OEM part 20869121. It was coded to accept my original key (no switch out). Total cost was $178. Time: 30 minutes of labor can take up to an 1 hour. To turn off my car when the incident occurred, I pulled four of the main switch plugs, two 30s and two 40s. They can be found under the hood. A black lid covers this area marked with a round red cap. The switches are easy to pull out and put back in. They help you avoid wearing down the battery or having to deal with it at all. I hope this helps.

When I got home in my 2007 Saturn Ion, I couldnt turn the ignition off. I had to pull the ignition fuse to turn the engine off and disconnect the battery cable. After browsing the Internet, this seems to be a common problem which Saturn has not addressed.

I own a 2009 Saturn Outlook XR with approximately 84000 miles on the vehicle. The transmission has failed on the vehicle, and the warranty was for five years or 100,000 miles. My local dealer has said the five years are up and they will not give me any consideration for repairs and want over four thousand dollars to repair it. When the towing company placed the vehicle on the roll back, the operator made the statement that he averages quite a few of these a week! This vehicle has had at least six recalls on major issues, water pump, power steering, power tailgate, seat belts, and etc. I can assure you this will be the last GM vehicle that I will ever buy. I have talked to two transmission shops in town and have been told that this transmission has had issues from the very start, and GM has been working on correcting the problem with the transmission. I was told GM has made three changes in the last twenty-four months to correct the problems with this transmission. Thanks GM, for keeping your customers updated on a defective transmission.

Three months ago, I purchased a used 1995 Saturn sl2 with a manual transmission. The person I bought it from says that she replaced the transmission once already. It has 170,000 miles on it. The past few week, I have heard a light knocking from the transmission. The other day, while going down the highway, the transmission starts slipping badly. I exit and get to a light and the transmission locked up. I couldnt move my car at all, in neutral or any gear. I was less than 1/5 away from my apartment and I had to have it towed home. It cost me $85.00 for less than a 1/5 of a mile because the transmission went out again; twice in 170,000 miles.

I was in a car accident today (04/21/12) and I am really upset that my airbag did not deploy. I was doing 55 MPH going to a green light and this car just decided to turn left right in front of me. We hit and my airbag did not deploy but the red light shows that it did and within seconds onStar came on right away, ambulance, state police and who knows what else. I thank God that I am alright, but really disappointed that the airbag did not deploy in my 2009 Saturn VUE, I could have been hurt really bad.

I have a 2005 Saturn; the ignition will not shut off. I have read all the other reports on here, and feel something should be done about this on going problem. My wife called me at work telling me that she could not turn the key to shut the car off. I had to call a friend; have him come over and pull the fuse, and disconnect the battery. Now we are short one car until I can fix this.

Its the same for me. I own a 2006 Saturn Ion where the ignition locked, and I couldnt stop my car. The only way to stop it was to stall it. It was 11 pm. No garage is open at that time. I made a complaint to GM. They called me and said to go to a dealer to see if its not related to the power steering because they have a recall on that and of course at my own expense. I already know that its not so its going to cost me over $100 just to confirm that sorry, its not related to that. They told me to call us back if its not and well see if we can help you. Im a single mom, I dont have $600 to get my car fixed because after reading all the reviews, it seem to be a very expensive repair. So please go on GM/Saturn and make a complaint. Maybe they will make recalls about it if everyone makes them aware of the problems because at first I called a few dealers and they all seem to be very surprised at this problem. No one has ever heard about this kind of problem.

My 2006 Saturn Ion began having starting problems locking up. I took my car in due to one of the recalls on this model in hopes this problem would be resolved once and for all. The service department said the locking up problem was not part of the recall and that I needed a new battery or a new starter. I told him that I had already had both of these replaced and the problem was still ongoing. Again he said this had nothing to do with the recall. They supposedly repaired my car and now it is totally locked up and will not start. WORST SERVICE EVER!! WORST VEHICLE EVER!!

My life and my 9-week-old son and 20-Month-old Daughter are in Danger. I have had problems with my 2007 Saturn Ion since I purchased the car brand new in September of 2006. I have had about 11 cases opened with Saturn/GM within the past 5-6 years for the same issue. My cars electrical power completely shuts down while driving. I am unable to turn the wheel, use the brake or gas pedals, roll down my window, unlock the car, turn on hazard lights, or take the keys out of the ignition. After years of this happening and taking my car for service to fix this issue, there still has been nothing found that could be causing this issue and I have been left feeling unsafe driving my car. I felt after the below recalls my car would finally be fixed and the issues that have been happening for so many years had been resolved. Saturn/GM has been aware of the issues with the power shutting down to their line of vehicles. My car was repaired under the below recall, I picked it up from the dealership yesterday evening. This morning I was driving with my kids in the car, when the same exact issue happened. All power in the car stopped, I was almost sideswiped and rear ended. I am at the end of my rope. I fear for my life and for my Childrens lives. I no longer feel safe and do not trust that this issue will ever be permanently fixed. My car is back at the dealership that made the repairs and I only have a rental for one day. I have to provide for my kids and cannot keep missing work. I do not want my car anymore. I would like GM to buy back the car. Will I or my Children have to die in a car crash before GM will help resolve this issue?! I am the original owner of the car. The car only has 27,845 miles on it. These issues also happened when the car was under warranty as well. Please find below the info to the GM issued Recalls: Recall 2014113: Recall Date - 04/16/2014; Recall Description - REPLACE IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER AND IGNITION KEYRecall 2014063: Recall Date - 03/07/2014; Recall Description - IGNITION SWITCH REPLACEMENT

We have had 2 Saturn 2006 Ion ignition problems - they get stuck and we were unable to shut down the car. Now my 2008 Vue is having ignition problems where it is randomly getting stuck. The dealership service recommended that I wait until it completely breaks down. Unfortunately, all of our cars are no longer in warranty so it is out of pocket expense for us.

I have been having the same issues as the rest of you with my 2004 Saturn Ion. I did have the key wont turn off the car problem after just a couple of years and got it fixed, supposedly something to do with the starter. It started doing it again not too long after it was fixed. It has continued to do it off and on. Key is stuck, wont turn car off. I play with the steering wheel and shift stick until it goes back into place and key will turn. Now today, it started letting me slip the key out of the ignition after I thought it was turned off, but car isnt off and now the doors are locked. The button to open the doors wont work. Literally you are locked in the car, save for the back doors manual opener. I had to climb out the back seat of my car tonight. I think the car is turned off, but guess I will find out in the morning. To top all of that off, the a/c wont work now and if I turn it on, it smells like my car is bursting into flames, so I have kept it off. From what I see here, I just need to find another car. It was a nice cheap car, so I thought, but so many things went wrong so quickly. I should have traded it back in. Rest of problems: power windows, Ive had 4 or 5 radios replaced, clock on car cant be changed, headlight recall. Good thing they dont make them any more, because I wouldnt buy one anyway. Now I am going to have to buy another car that I cant afford at this time.
2005 Saturn Ion 2: Along with my ignition switch failing, my power steering
2005 Saturn Ion 2: Along with my ignition switch failing, my power steering regularly going out while driving down the freeway, and my driver-side window not working, my key is now stuck in the on position with the car running. I popped the clutch to turn it off and disconnected the battery. I ordered a new ignition cylinder and plan to replace when it arrives. I agree with the majority of the community that there are far too many problems with particular parts for a recall not to be made. Im elated for the day I can rid myself of this car. Its been nothing but continual problems. My Honda on the other hand has nearly the same miles and not one problem in 5 years.

Three months ago the key got stuck in ignition. The case around the cylinder broke and a part got stuck in the cylinder, resulting in $650 of repair. Yesterday, the key got stuck again. Now a tiny metal part that protects the tumbler springs broke. But since those parts were new, they were on warranty. The consequence is $650 of repair plus gas.

I will NEVER purchase another GM vehicle. I have a 2009 Saturn Vue with 58,100 miles that has a bad timing chain. I saw online that there has been issues with timing chains in the past. When calling, I was directed to a call center overseas. Then I asked to be directed to someone in the states and was on hold for over 45 minutes. Bottom line....nothing GM will do.
Please beware if you have a Saturn ION from 2004 to 2007 and your steering
Please beware if you have a Saturn ION from 2004 to 2007 and your steering is making a funny noise. Please go and check it out because its a death trap you will be driving down the street and your car steering will just break off without a warning. It happened with my 2004 Saturn ION and my wife have a 2007 Saturn ION with the same problem that caused us to go and new cars for both of us. Saturn ION is the worst car to have. Almost lost my life.
