My car has low miles on it and transmission went out no warning. A few times the car rolls with it being in park. Hubby check transmission fluid with car running. It jumps the park mode stats rolling towards my hubby. I press break before it ran over him. Towed car to the auto care Lee Myles in Parkersburg, WV. I called GM and told the transmission not shifting, doesnt go to drive. Now Lee Myles has had car 3 weeks, cant say whats wrong but stated could fix car for around 2000 dollars. Still wont diagnose it for itemize cost and states now going to cost 3700 dollars to fix it.. What to do? What made my car mess up? Im disabled, dont go very many places, had car 2 years now. Really like my car but being pulled so many ways between General Motors not wanting to help and Lee Myles helping themselves to my car and money. PLEASE HELP. THANKS FOR LISTENING.

My 2005 Saturn Ion with 12,000 miles has problems with the ignition switch that will not turn off. I had service on this problem three times. I never know when the key will stick and I cannot turn the motor off. I am 82 years old and do not want to buy a new vehicle. I do not want to pay $550 dollars to have it repaired for a manufacturers defect.

Our 2009 Saturn Outlook ONLY has 53,000 miles on it. The 100,000 mile warranty was up because we have just barely had our vehicle 5 years. We have taken it to the same dealer for the life of the car, and taken very good care of it. I was driving to work the other day and my power steering and transmission completely went out. I almost lost control of the vehicle several times. It started when I was at a stoplight, when I pressed the gas to accelerate once it turned green, then my car lurched forward but only revved up. I made it work and then it wouldnt go in reverse at all!. I had it towed to a trusted mechanic. He told us it was indeed the transmission and power-steering but also that the rack and pinion broke. We had our car to the dealer several times for the whining noise to be fixed but they only ever told me they didnt hear the noise. I called GM, who told us to have it towed to a certified GM dealer and that the power steering should have been under a special coverage warranty. Turns out GM was sued and lost in court because of the power steering. The dealer then refused to diagnose my car without us paying them a $1,000 up front. I told them it had already been diagnosed, and if this was covered under their special warranty, then why on earth should I have to pay this large amount of money up front. The service manager told me he did NOT believe that our problem was covered under this special warranty and that the transmission doesnt go out because of the power steering. He said one doesnt have anything to do with the other. Well funny, then how they both went out at the exact same time. I went round and round with both the dealer and GM and neither of them want to take responsibility for what has happened. Especially considering we have documented proof (the dealer has it in their computers) that we had our car to them multiple times to have THIS exact issue fixed. I believe it is time to get another law suit started. GM needs to fix their faulty vehicles BEFORE someone gets severely hurt or dies! We had it towed a 3rd time to be taken care of by our mechanic since the dealer refused to diagnose our vehicle. Do not ever trust GM or their Certified dealers, all they care about is lining their pockets.

Saturn ion 3 2005 - Key gets stuck, car shuts off when it wants, and steering goes out sometimes. This is a two hand on steering wheel car for sure!! Pretty scary. It awful that some people who have complaints about this car are no longer living human beings. That must have been changing the radio station while making a turn. Remember two hands and hold on tightly!! I no longer drive cars that have internal combustion engines with complex engine starting features, (push button once to engage low power circuit for radio and accessories, push button again to engage high power circuit for electrical traction motor). Simple, no service ever, no transmission, exhaust, sensors, hoses, belts, radiator, water, clutch, etc., no service required. Good luck with those old things.

I have purchased a 2009 Saturn Aura. Recently, my power steering light has been coming on. Just a week ago, I turned the key on and my steering wheel was going crazy! It was shaking! Two days later, as I was driving, my power steering light came on and started beeping and my steering wheel got stiff! I couldnt move to the side to get off the road, so I ended stopping on the middle of the street and shut the car off, took the key out and the steering wheel wasnt locked again. Just today, I was driving and my steering wheel froze on me! So I had to again stop the car to turn it off and I started up the car again! I took it in and they couldnt find anything wrong with it! I am posting this as an insurance to make Saturn liable if anything happens to me while driving and this steering wheel freezes up on me and I’m in an accident due to this problem!!! There seems to be a lot of problems in regards to the power steering. But my vehicle freezes up on the steering column and I’m not able to move the steering wheel to move out of the road! Please help! I myself wanted to change the power steering, but if it’s not showing up on the computer code as a defect. Why do it?

Ive had to replace my ignition 4 times in the past 4 years. The key gets stuck and I either cant turn the car off or I cant turn it on. The mechanic who replaced it the last time indicated that the ignition was a really bad part and that he was certain it would fail again. When I took it to the dealership after the recall, the foreman indicated that my problem was not the same problem indicated in the recall. He said, the recall problem is a safety issue and mine was not. I am NOT comfortable driving around in this car knowing what has happened to some.

I bought my wife a brand new 2007 Saturn Ion. I have had it back in dealer service 4 times, with no solution to key getting stuck in the ignition. I have finally given up. I will have to sit in the car for up to 10 minutes until the car decides to release the key, as if it has a mind of its own! Very frustrating!

We have a 2001 Saturn 4-dr sedan L-300. Although pleased with the car on the whole, we have recently been experiencing electrical problems that no one seems to be able to fix. When it is raining, the dash lights begin to flicker. This would lead you to believe that there is some kind of short in the wiring caused by the higher humidity; but to this day no one has been able to fix it. Any ideas?

The car runs great and gives me no problems. What more can you ask of a vehicle? Its a 2004 Saturn Vue and it starts and runs every time I ask it to. Great on gas and never stalls out.

Saturn Ion is a compact car with less miles than the others and it was cheaper than the other models I was looking at and its good on gas and the air conditioner works great for the money I paid for it. It has new tires and a big trunk which will help me a lot when buying for the grandkids. Good car for $600. It looks good and it drives like a new car and I like the color of the car. But needs an oil pump and windshield wipers. The cluster is in the middle of the dash which is strange and hard to get used to. Dislike the shape of the car, the driver side window will not let down and the car can only be unlocked from the passenger side.

I went out of town in my 2006 Saturn Ion. While I was there, I could not turn the ignition off on my car. The key was stuck and would not turn back so I could turn the car off. Thank God, I had a spare key in my purse and was able to lock the car and leave it running. I had a few things to do in town, so my car was on for 6 hours or more. I just had to make sure that I had enough gas in it. I just found out that its going to cost me $300 to have this problem fixed.

Well, I had my car repaired at my expense, but after submitting a complaint, I was able to get them to offer me a refund of at least something and give me an extended warranty. I urge everyone with with any kind of car problems to contact GM/Saturn and make the problem known. Maybe there will be more recalls if everyone makes them aware of the problems.

We have nothing but problems with our 2003 Saturn Vue. We did buy it used. We have had to replace both catalytic converters to the tune of $2400 (parts only) back in 2010. We have had to replace the oxygen sensors every 2 years. Just this past April, when the check engine light came on and once again to the mechanic, we had to shell out another $800 to replace the front catalytic converter (this was discounted due to having just replaced it 2 years ago; otherwise, it would have been doubled). Now, after replacing the gas cap for a third time because it loosens up and the engine light is still on, we have had a certified GM mechanic do all the work and he checks every time to make sure that there has not been a better fix. I am amazed, after reading all the issues that GM has not stepped up and try to restore consumers faith in their ability to fix cars, that nothing has been done. Currently, looking for a new car but I can tell you it will not be through GM since they have yet to fix the issues and their record on Saturns is proving that they are more concerned with selling more of their cars instead of fixing the current ones out there.

My 2008 Saturn Vue is a mess. I need a new heater core, fog comes inside the car, my speedometer is now not working. I am afraid that it is going to blow up while I am driving it. I do not have the money for repair. It is only a 2008 and it is horrible. Help.

I just got off the phone with GM Corporate. They again are refusing to take responsibility for the brake issue on the Saturn Aura. I bought a 2007 Saturn Aura new. At 27,300 I had to replace the brakes and rotors. Then at 46,000 I had to replace the brakes and have the calipers cleaned. I finally gave up and traded in the car because of GMs refusal to take responsibility for the AURA brake problems. This morning I reported General Motors to the NHTSA (888) 327-4236 and to the Federal Trade Commission (877) 382-4357. GM says they will not reimburse me until there is a recall. Please report your problems so we can force a recall. The number to GM Corporate for Saturn is (800) 553-6000.

SATURN ION 2007 IGNITION SWITCH - Ignition switch was stuck in run position; would not turn off cars engine. Roadside service disconnected battery. Dealer replaced switch for $318...OUT OF MY POCKET, OUCH!

I purchased a new Saturn Ion for my daughter. It has always had issues - 2 or 3 ignition switches, 2 or 3 power steering motors, 2 or 3 fuel pumps, bad gas mileage, clunking front end. Too many parts replaced to count 3 or 4 parts stores in town. They know me by name and I dont even have to tell them the make of the car. This thing is a wreck. Only two good things I dont have to wash it. Its not worth the money to clean it up. And I can go to Wal-mart without worrying about somebody stealing it or running into it. Last car for me from GM and I remind my kids to not buy one either.

I had a wreck in my Saturn and went through the Feinberg resolution and was told that I would receive nothing for my accident. I have tried to contact Chevrolet several times and always get the runaround. They came out to my car and did a Bosch crash data retrieval and told me theyre sorry they dont know how to read it. I can get no help from them. Please help.

2003 Saturn ION - good car at first, but ignition issues plagued me. The key would sometimes stick, making it impossible to start the vehicle until I noticed jiggling the steering wheel and gear handle would release it. It felt very unsafe though. I had the vehicle shut off on the highway more than once and I was able to get to the side of the road. It also shut off during sharp turns where there was a slight incline. The scariest and most annoying issue was the key could be removed at any time during driving and after no luck with lasting repairs, I simply kept a note in the car during service appointments (or for valet) to MAKE SURE KEY IS IN THE OFF POSITION BEFORE REMOVING, because I came out to a dead battery more than once. Such a waste of energy and a risk to my family. I no longer have this vehicle and Im thankful for that because it felt unsafe!

I purchase a 2002 Saturn Vue for my daughter in college. I have been a faithful Saturn owner without any issues prior. Since purchase, nothing but electrical problems - including a near crash on the freeway when the car abruptly slowed down to 10 mph. A recall is needed before someone is killed. Weve invested $2,000 to try and fix a ghost problem.

I cant understand why GM will not admit that there is a problem with ignition cylinder in Saturn cars. My mom has a 2003 Saturn Ion, that will not release the key. It is stuck in the ACC position. Sometimes, if you sit and wait 15 min., it will click and release. We had car to the dealer when it was under warranty but they could find nothing wrong. I realize that they receive anywhere from $500 up to repair this and they are in desperate need of money. No one in my family will ever have another GM product. Something should be done about this.

Bought a 2009 Saturn Outlook last year with 64,000 miles. Beautiful car and body in really good shape. Loaded with everything you could think of. 2 weeks after having it, it would make all kinds of noise when turning and sound really ruff. Took it to a GM dealer and it was completely out of oil. They could not find any leaks or that is was burning oil. Needless to say putting oil in it was a once a month thing.Steering went out - had to pay $1900 to get that and the rack and pinion repaired. One week later we lost all power to the car driving down the mountains in Virginia. Spent $1,000 to get it towed back to Ohio to spend another $100 to put on analyser. Now they are saying we have to pay another 1500 for GM to tear it down so GM specialist can look at it since they still cannot figure out what is wrong with it. I still owe on this car and they said once they figure out whats wrong it could cost another 4 to 5 thousand to fix it. This has been the biggest headache. I cant believe we spend the money we do on cars and they dont even last 5 YEARS.

I bought my VUE new in 2003. Loved this car. Just right for me. All of a sudden it started stalling out while driving down the street. All the dash lights came on, the steering and brakes were gone. All of this in rush hour traffic in Denver. Took it in...paid out just over $900 to try to find out what it was, didnt help. Picked it up on Friday, stalled in traffic on Saturday. Did some research found out this was a problem with the 2002-2004 Saturn VUE and Ion. During those years the Saturn VUE was on a car chassis or so Im told - and beginning 2005 on a truck base. I went to the GM dealer after this last brush with death and was told I probably needed a new transmission.....$3,800. Found out about the GM class action suits in California and other places regarding the Saturn VUE. I had the car towed....not driving it. Certainly not trading it in for someone else to be hurt. Looking for a good used car now.

I have experienced many of the problems I hear from owners here. Frozen key or ignition, stuck key, vehicle will not turn off. Took the car in for servicing (luckily, the car is still covered by warranty). I received an offer from the dealership for over $6K. I wondered why they would offer that much money for a car with over 86K miles on it. Then I came across the lawsuit filed below and read through the case file Interesting stuff, makes me want to call GM directly. **. I want to know how these transmission problems apply to the 2006-2007 ION models and what we need to do. My elderly parent will drive this for a few weeks and I will be holding my breath the whole time! Something for folks to keep in mind.

I bought my Outlook in April 2009. So far the transmission has been replaced (warranty thank goodness) & there have been recalls on the safety airbag light & now power steering. Those are the flaws GM admits to. I have a consistent drip when it rains that can easily turn to a stream of water if Im pointing uphill or downhill. Checked the Internet & its been verified Saturn cut the drain tubing too short. Checked with GM to see if they would fix it but they said I needed to work a deal with the dealer who want going for it. Turns out the water has drained right into my fuse box so now my electrical is messed up. The fuse box is impossible to get to. Among other problems my service airbag light wont ever turn off - fuse issue or real problem, Im not sure. Worried it will cost me a fortune to fix & on one income with 2 kids thats a tough call. Then today, I turned the car off & it kept running. Key was out! Now I read there are ignition problems. Wish all these reviews were out when I bought my first almost new car ever. Teach me!

My son lost control of my 2006 Saturn Ion, hit a pole head on going 50 mph. Then the car did a total of three 360s and then a 180. Air bags never deployed and my son and the passenger were trauma cases. The air bags could have saved them and some of the injuries.

2007 Saturn ION2: Three times, I have gotten into my car, turned the key, and nothing...no noise, nothing... Waited an hour, and then it was fine. Now, I parked my car, went to turn off the car, but the key wouldnt budge, and the car would not shut off. Followed the manual to put the car in parked, open a little compartment under the steering wheel, push in a plunger, and hold it to the drivers door and remove the key...IT DIDNT WORK! Had to pull the due and disconnect the battery to turn the car off, but the key is still stuck in the ignition. Even if you turn the key too far, there is no noise. I think it is electrical too...I read somewhere that someones car just shut off while driving...I AM PETRIFIED TO DRIVE THIS CAR. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT FROM THIS AND SUE GM, SINCE SATURN IS OUT OF BUSINESS! IS THAT WHAT IT IS GOING TO TAKE BEFORE THIS GETS RECALLED!!!

I purchased a 2006 Saturn Vue XL, it had approximately 108,000 miles on it, lots of life left. When I hit 124,000 the transmission completely went while driving down the highway at 70 mph. But loving the look and every other aspect of the Vue I purchased a 2008 Saturn Vue XE, it had 65,000. Everything was going perfect and then at 78,000 the exact same thing started happening. It started stuttering while going down the highway and eventually wouldnt even shift into gear. Learning from my last experience I purchased an extended warranty. Took it in, the transmission had gone out, exact same way as the 2006 Vue had. NOW, at 87,000, its happening again!!! I am so irate. A part continues to shave off me. Metal slivers into the transmission causing these problems. This vehicle needs to be recalled STAT!!

I have a Saturn Ion 2 that keeps cutting off when slowing down, going down a hill or just drinking and having to slow down while in traffic. My car was on recall. Went and got that fixed. Now my car try to crank on its own while turning my key to crank the car...what am I to do?

I bought my 2003 Saturn L200 in July of 2009 with only 31,000 miles on it. It was great for two years, until the Summer of 2011 when the odometer started spinning out of control. It added 50,000+ miles on it in a short time. It costs $1400 to fix the BCM (body control module) and took a month to fix. The dealer had to backorder the part. Now, my fuel pump has died repeatedly, leaving me stranded multiple times. The fuel pump at OReilly Auto Parts costs $350 and this was the cheapest price by far. Its currently at the mechanic for the third time and he is stumped. After the car died the second time, we figured we got a bad fuel pump. But somehow it is not getting power to the fuel pump. I was promised the GM would continue to uphold Saturns level of service. All Ive seen are expensive parts and time-consuming repairs. I will never buy a GM product again.

2003 Vue oil filter cover/holder - The original failed to seal well. Two replacements have failed as the overpressure spring broke out of the housing causing the engine to knock and crush the filter. Two in a row - must be defective. Please respond.

I bought a 2002 Saturn Ion sl2 and Ive had nothing but problems. How is it that these crooks are allowed to get away with this? My ignition locked up while I was driving leaving me stranded for three hours on a busy road in 100 degree heat with no extra money for a tow truck or to get it fixed, and unable to after replacing the ignition to unlock the vehicle. I am glad that my son was not in the car with me and there was no accident as an outcome of this or GM would be hearing from my attorney. I will be getting rid of this car immediately.And the thing that irritates me the most is that NO ONE from this company cares. They care about making their money and robbing people, people like me who had to save up months to be able to purchase a vehicle hoping it would be reliable and safe to transfer my son and I from daycare, work and school. I will never purchase another vehicle through them again. Now I have to worry about how I will be repairing a vehicle I dont have money to fix and still pay my bills and find a way to work and school. Thank you so much for your poor engineering.

I was in a car accident today (04/21/12) and I am really upset that my airbag did not deploy. I was doing 55 MPH going to a green light and this car just decided to turn left right in front of me. We hit and my airbag did not deploy but the red light shows that it did and within seconds onStar came on right away, ambulance, state police and who knows what else. I thank God that I am alright, but really disappointed that the airbag did not deploy in my 2009 Saturn VUE, I could have been hurt really bad.

I, too, will add a complaint about my key getting stuck and my car not shutting off. Also, it often won’t start for 10 to 30 minutes randomly. I live in the desert and have been stuck with my 2 small toddlers in the heat with a car that just wont start. The vehicle says, “Service engine.” And having serviced it, it still happens. This ignition switch problem is a huge safety issue and needs to be recalled. If I end up in a dangerous situation and cant flee because my car won’t start, that’s a problem. I have another baby on the way and I don’t even feel comfortable taking my kids with me in this car because I fear being stranded in the heat with them. Though it eventually works, babies can get heat stroke and so can I, sitting in or out of the car while we wait. When it was diagnosed, I have been told nothing seems to be wrong. In contacting GM, there haven’t been enough complaints to warrant a recall. I am reporting this as a safety issue and will also be contacting the NTSA.

I have a 2008 Saturn Outlook and have had nothing but problems. I know that my warranty has expired but for a 3-year old truck with 70k miles, why is the airbag light going on? Also, the trunk wont open, the stability and stabilizer track is acting up and GM has nothing to say about this. How can one help me address this issue? I am expected to pay for the repairs; I dont think I should.

I have 07 Ion with 30000 miles. Also, I am a mechanic for last five years. I had the ignition lock problem last night when I got home. It seems to be a recurring problem and needs to be addressed by GM. This is a costly problem for most and could result in a bigger issue such as theft. Do not hesitate to call your local dealership and raise hell!

I have a 2007 Saturn Ion and, like others on here, I have experienced my key getting stuck in the ignition. The only difference is this happened to me when I was on vacation and I have no idea where the nearest mechanic was. I contacted AAA and they tried to come out to help but were unsuccessful. They pointed me to a Sears mechanic in the area and the gentleman there was extremely helpful, but because I was on vacation and needed to have the car to get home, they were only able to offer a temporary fix for the problem, which was to unplug the battery and remove the fuse to force the car to shut off. They were able to remove the key though. I am very disappointed in Saturn and GM that they have neglected to recall this part and am surprised there are so many people out there that have had the same exact problem. Shame on you, GM.

New engine at 106,000. We just bought the Saturn 2008 Outlook at 76,000 less than 2 years ago. We have already put in $600 in fixes, and now we found out the engine needs to be replaced for $5000. This car has been a total lemon. Researching the v6 3.6 lt engine we have found out that it is a piece of junk.

I purchased a 2002 Saturn SL2 in 2006 from an individual who kept it as a summer car. It only had 26,000 miles on it. I drove the car and loved it. In 2011, the transmission suddenly started giving problems when the car had about 77,000 miles on it. I took it to a transmission shop and they put in a rebuilt transmission. It cost me $1,500.00. Now at 114,000 miles, that transmission is doing the same thing - clunking into gear, slipping out of gear, hesitating and then suddenly clunking into gear. I have decided to get a different car even though I love my Saturn.

I recently was involved in a vehicular accident with my 2006 Saturn Ion3. Although I was traveling at approximately 40 mph when I crashed into another vehicle, the airbag didnt deploy. By the airbag not deploying, On Star wasnt notified of the crash. Since OnStar is their premiere system, it might be good if the very thing that will get help, actually works. My car was totaled, and they dont make Saturns anymore, but maybe somebody might want to check out the airbag on these vehicles to make sure they actually work. Mine didnt.

My experience is really bad and I hope that, by writing this review, I would be able to refrain people from buying at SATURN. I wanted to buy a new fridge and the old one to be picked up by SATURN (which is mandatory for law). I did my order by the customer service to be sure that every detail would have been clear and I did explicitly said while ordering that I would have liked the old fridge to be picked up. Eventually I received a confirmation of my order without that specification. For this reason, I called many times to change the order and although the people from the customer service promised me that they would have changed the order, they did not. So at the end I receive the new fridge but the old one hasnt been picked up. Now I am sure that it was a strategy from the beginning not to specify my wish and also what they did afterwards. I think the employees form the customer service are thought to do so. For this reason I wont ever buy at SATURN. I will also dissuade people. Really bad experience!!!!

My 2007 Outlook has 70,000 miles on it. I am four months past the initial warranty and my transmission suddenly died. I called our dealer where we purchased it from and was told I was past my warranty so too bad. After reading all the transmission problems online by other Saturn owners, I cant believe that a recall was not taken for the transmissions. Let the consumers worry about it GM, what a joke! You are putting peoples lives at risk and yet you dont want to take ownership of your problem. So now I am supposed to come up with several thousand dollars for a used transmission because GM will not do the right thing. This will be the last GM car Ill ever purchase. Shame on GM!

The anti-sway bar of my 2006 Saturn Vue snapped when making a right-hand turn at normal driving speed. The Vue was taken to the local Chevy dealership. The vehicle spent 21 days in the shop because they were unable to locate a new part. The dealership found a used part and charged the new part price. Six days later, this same part broke again, this time making a left-hand turn into my driveway. The vehicle is again in the shop.

Does anyone else have issues with their car turning on in cold weather? I say it happens when it is cold because it happens more frequently in the winter! Ive asked and taken it to get it checked and no one can tell me what the issue is! It is so frustrating because I have called the dealership and get no answers from them either! I cannot afford to lose the car but no one wants to buy it so I can buy a different one. It makes life so difficult when I have to go to work or do what I need to do. I hate that this car. It has been so unreliable for the past 3 years!

When we went out looking for a car we wanted it be spacious but not too big. Comfortable but not overpriced. Reliable and able to be a commuter vehicle we could depend on for a good amount of years. Saturn Aura is good reliable family sedan car that is ready to take commuter miles and still be gas efficient, its a vehicle that only gives problems when its in need of major repairs. But one of the things most frustrating about the car is no paper repair manual and what there is electronic which when you are a true mechanic is not always possible to handle, I would love a repair manual in Spanish paper bound so my husband can make as many repairs as needed.

My wife has a 05 Saturn Vue, the engine blew up whilst driving home from work. No check engine light, no warning at all. The car lost power steering but luckily no accident. I called GM customer service and told them what happened and they said car needed to go to a dealer to be looked at... They arranged for it to be taken to local dealer. The dealer said engine was gone. I called GM back and asked them what they were planning to do and was told they would do nothing again. I explained that it could have killed my wife and that surely there should have been a warning of some description...I was passed around from person to person sitting on hold for 37 mins to speak to a supervisor. When he got on the phone he muttered something and transferred me again. So I called the headquarters in Detroit and got pretty much the same response. I now have a car that will cost more to repair than its worth. I even had to fight them to get my car towed back to my house (there was more bad cust service but too much to mention). So this bears as much as a warning to all Saturn drivers. BE CAREFUL, THEY BLOW UP WITHOUT WARNING AND GM DONT CARE!!!!!

We purchased a 2008 Saturn with 76,000 miles. In May 2014 we begin having transmission problems. Upon researching the net we discovered other owners having problems and GMC doing a recall. I begin correspondence and after eight months and numerous e-mails and recall letters we were told that due to the 19,000 mile over their criteria of 120,000 we were out of luck. But to show their goodwill they decided to give us a $2,000 dollar credit toward a NEW 2015 GMC. But not a credit toward having this piece of Saturn repaired at a cost of $4,000.00. per Jim **.

Small and compact with only so many people could get in. But it carries food in a very tight space to where the groceries will not spill or fall over. Good the features, the graphics are outstanding and its a very reliable vehicle and supportive for my needs as well. But to add some of the fluid, you actually physically have to lift up the car. Also, the repairs on the vehicle can get expensive if youre not sure where to get them from.

Saturn Outlook 2008 - The car turns off while driving. I am a mother with 4 kids and I am driving all over the places. This is my second time that I am driving with my kids the car turns off. Im terrified I will get in an accident with my kids in the car. I call to GM and and I ask whats wrong with my car? GM service department told me that I need to change my ignition... OMG!! IGNITION??? I am a AUTOMOBILE LOCKSMITH and the problem is not IGNITION.

I own a 2006 Saturn Ion with a little over 50,000 miles (purchased new). My key got stuck in the cylinder as well and the car would not stop running. I took my vehicle to a local auto shop and got the ignition lock cylinder replaced, OEM part 20869121. It was coded to accept my original key (no switch out). Total cost was $178. Time: 30 minutes of labor can take up to an 1 hour. To turn off my car when the incident occurred, I pulled four of the main switch plugs, two 30s and two 40s. They can be found under the hood. A black lid covers this area marked with a round red cap. The switches are easy to pull out and put back in. They help you avoid wearing down the battery or having to deal with it at all. I have a 2006 Saturn ION which is on its third round of problems with the ignition switch. I had the switch replaced in September of 2010 by our local Chevy dealer. It cost me $395.00, and one week later I had to take it back to have it replaced a second time because it locked up. Now, it is now just 20 months later and the same thing has happened again. This time the dealer wants $525 for the same repair with a few more parts. They say the parts warranty is only 12 months or 12,000 miles and there is nothing they can do. GM needs to admit the problem here and make this right. If there is a class-action suit, I am in.

I purchased a 2003 Saturn Vue in 2009. Regretfully, I did not do my homework before purchasing. The transmission went out along with the transfer case. I paid $4976.23 for a new tranny and a rebuilt transfer case. The car has lost significant MPGs and will not shift correctly since the new install. It has greatly reduced power at take-off and there is screeching/clunking noise when turning left. GM dealership told me I need a new front differential now, a cost of $5,400. This car is a disgrace. I am still making payments on it. I have paid more in repairs then I have on my monthly payments. Is there any advice on reimbursement for all these expense? Do I have recourse?

I have a 2005 Saturn Ion. I have had the same problem with my car for over a year. I have not brought it in because I do not have the money to get it fixed then have the problem happened again. I am fed up with this car. I will be trying to call the dealership. There needs to be a recall on this problem!Also just recently I have had problems with it shutting off. It did it twice to me in 1 day-- when I coasted to a safe spot, I put it in park, shut it off and it wouldnt start for at least 5 minutes. I am not sure what is going on. If anybody else has problems with this, can you please email me or something. We all need to do something about these problems we keep having.**.com. I want to hear about similar problems.

As has happened to many Saturn owners, our 2006 Ions ignition has locked up. I cant pull the key out or shut the car off. I have called a Chevy dealer and they are not covering this under warranty or recall at this time. This will be a $300 repair and has been happening to thousands of people. This problem should be covered by a recall. We had to replace lock housing, and cylinder and reprogram.

I bought a Saturn Outlook in 2011 and it has been one of the best SUVs that I have had. It is roomy and has a 3rd row seat. I get many compliments from my passengers on smooth ride. It is driver friendly and has excellent gas mileage driving long distance and locally! I love it.

I just had an experience where I could not turn the key backward to turn off. It was a very scary situation. I had to find someone to show me how to pull a fuse and then disconnect the ground cable to the battery so as not to run the battery down. The key is left in the on position. It looks like many people are dealing with this and I was told that this is a Saturn/GM issue. Has anyone found recourse to correct this very common occurrence with these vehicles?

I have had to replace the ignition key & tumbler and housing twice in the last 5 years because my key gets stuck in the ignition and the car will not turn off. The last time I did this was in August 2010. Now, it is starting again. When I put my car into park the car will shut off, but it takes me about 10 minutes to get the key out. I have to restart, back-up, pull forward, rinse & repeat. It hasnt reached the point yet to where the car wont turn off but I know it is near in the future since this is how it started the other two times. I really cant afford another $600 to get this fixed again. This is a constant problem yet GM will not issue a recall to help the owners out. I will never ever again buy another GM product. This is frustrating! Does anyone happen to know of a class-action lawsuit that may be in the works? If so, please share.

Have a 2006 Saturn Ion 3 with about 58K miles. Loaned it to father-in-law for the weekend. He calls to tell me he cant turn it off. Drives to GM dealer, who pulls fuse to turn off car. Two days later, I get the call that it will cost $600 to fix ignition. How do we get GM to own up to this obvious recall issue with the Saturn ignitions! Any lawyers out there?

I have a 2005 Ion Saturn, which I have had problems with the ignition switch on this car since I bought this new. Before, I couldnt get it to start and they fixed that. Now, I cant get the key to come out of the ignition. I have had numerous people look at this. They have checked the fuses, tried the shifting lever, but to no help in getting it out.I have a child that I take to school and I am afraid I wont be able to get her there on time, also to get her home. Why doesnt anyone fix this? I am on low income as I have not been able to work and have no money to stick into this car. This piece of junk has been nothing but a pain since I bought it, which I didnt want to do in the first place but was talked into by an elder salesman saying this would be a good car for me. Ha! What a laugh!

Like everyone else, my key got stuck in the ignition and would not turn off. I had to unplug the battery and take the fuse out to get my car off. I would also like to be involved in a class action suit against GM because I dont believe that we should be responsible for their faulty parts not working. I should not have to worry about if my car will turn off or not. That should be recalled and corrected.

I will never buy a GM product again. My Saturn Aura only has 72,000 miles, and the transmission has already broken. Trying to deal with GM is a joke -everything from the dealership to customer service. Our warranty expired one month ago, but I am still 27,000 miles under the 100,000-mile mark, and of course, GM does not want to do anything about it. My car has been in the shop for over 5 days, and I am constantly being told I have to pay more for diagnostics. How many error codes need to pop up for GM to admit they made lemon of a car? All GM cares about is getting you in the door; once you are there, customer service no longer cares.

Saturn needs to make a recall on 2006 model of ION. My car keys normally gets stuck in the key ignition yet I have only owned my vehicle for a year. I cant believe this has gone out. I have reviewed comments about other owners of the same vehicle of the same year with the same problems which I think is a dealer issue. They have to recall these vehicles for these problems. I dont feel that the owner should be putting their hard-earned money in something that has factory defects. They need to be recalled. It is not very safe when you are unable to turn off your vehicle.

We bought our 2008 Saturn Outlook brand new six years ago as a means to travel on family vacations and have never had a problem with it until now. Weve maintained our Outlook by doing all the right things. On the way back from our family road trip in May, we noticed a knocking sound that seemed to go away once we made it back home. Subsequent to arriving home, we got a phone call from a GM dealer, asking us if we may want to trade in the Outlook for something else (something we had been thinking about anyway). On the way to the dealership, the knocking noise came back! The dealer indicated that the Outlook could not be traded due to a possible transmission problem. Well, we took it into the dealership later that week for diagnostic/service. It was diagnosed with reverse wave plate failure (estimated cost: $3,029); possible rear cat converter problem (est. cost $712). We later took to a transmission specialist who looked it over and determined it didnt have a transmission problem and they couldnt hear the noise. However, after putting it on the road, they noticed the noise and the shifting problem and quoted a repair cost of $3,000+. We went to pick up the truck to bring it back home and it could not shift in reverse! With the help of the service men, we had to push the truck in reverse to get off the lot only to realize that it would not go forward (in speed) more than 30 miles! The truck is dead! We do not have this kind of money laying around; and with 120 k miles on the Outlook, it just doesnt seem worth it to pay for a repaired transmission and definitely not a new one at $4,034!! This is so unfortunate; because we really enjoyed our Outlook. Now were faced with hard decisions to make, while in the meantime having to deal with the inconveniences of driving one car - a 2005 Hyundai Elantra that we also bought brand new and has never given us any serious mechanical problems. I wonder where we will purchase our next vacation SUV. Buyers beware. We feel like weve been set up to be let down. Our Outlook is in great exterior/interior condition and has never been involved in an accident. Were willing to be part of a class action suit.

Saturn 2005 Ion, from neutral, when shifting to drive it engages hard. Also, coolant light on dash comes on after car is idling.

Never been so disappointed with GM company. By looking at all the reviews look like we are having the same problems with the Saturn Vue. It should have been a recall on all transmissions which GM already knew it was a default in them but they didnt care. I have replaced everything on that Vue except for the transmission. Just happen to be at a traffic like and the truck begin to stall and jerk like it didnt want to move. It jerked all the way going at slow speed. I was able to make it home, had a friend that work on cars take a look at it. He got in, drove it up the street and it did the same thing again. When he pulled back up to my house he gave me the bad news that it was my transmission. Im very upset and I will never purchase a GM again.

Computer warning and detection symbols go on and off. But, the engine light has been on for more than 2 years. Its been reset, but comes on later. Sometimes the radio shows funky symbols. Took it in for inspection. They reset the engine light. Drove it until it came on. Went back within 50 miles of driving. The code was undetermined by the dealer/manufacturer. Dont know how Ill ever sell it with an engine light on. It can be inspected if the shop tries to repair it and you spend up to $200. But, I have never had a car that the engine light ever came on period. And, Ive had quite a few. Whats up with that.

The timing chain in my 2003 Saturn Ion snapped. It is a problem I noticed that was fairly common in these vehicles. My car showed no signs of having an issue, and then just shut off on the highway.

I have a 2003 Saturn Vue, which I purchased used in 2009. The transmission went out in 09 and I had to replace it. GM would only do 50/50 so I had to come up with over $2000 myself. I am now having problems with it again. It needs another replacement and I was told that the warranty on the first transmission was for 12,000 miles or one year so GM will not help with replacement. The only thing GM will do is give a small credit towards a new GM vehicle.

Within 8 weeks, my 2004 Saturn VUE (V6, FWD 3.5 Honda Motor) has been in the auto repair shop four times for a front brake issue. At first, it was the master cylinder, then it was a caliper and then it was the ABS master switch, all which have been replaced and now today, again the VUE is back in the shop for a defective brake line.

I have a 2006 Saturn ION with only 60K miles and it has been in the shop for manufacturer defects 3 times already. I paid 200 for the ignition lock in May since the key will get stuck and I could not turn car off. I am a single parent with kids and it was scary when your car is stuck. I also paid $300 for a new camshaft actuator and selenoid. Now in December another valve malfunctioned and I called customer service and they gave me the run-around. I dealt with a district specialist named Vince and one named Drew and they both laughed at me and told me I am out of warranty since it’s past the 5 year mark and there is nothing they can do even though the dealer told them on the phone that it’s a manufacturer defect. I was told by Drew from Saturn, “Sorry, these things happen…” They had promised to give me at least a 10% discount and the dealership told me that they had no documentation. They never returned my calls. I have paid over $1000 out of my pocket for manufacturer defects and this car only has 60k. It keeps failing—valve, keys, fuel pump. Help.

My 2006 Saturn Ion would not turn off and the key was locked in the ignition. I am a nursing student and I missed a very important meeting due to this issue. I drove to a Firestone and he said that he has fixed at least 50 Saturn Ions with this same issue this year. He also said due to Saturn parts being in an unorganized warehouse, it would take at least five to 10 business days until he would be able to receive the part. So I could be out of a car for possibly two weeks. And it will cost around $600 for repair and labor. I will also have to pay for a rental during this time! Saturn and General Motors need to be held accountable if so many consumers are having the same issue! The key of my 2007 Saturn got locked in the on position and couldnt turn off. I know other Saturn owners who have had the same problem; I found numerous complaints on the Internet.

I have a 2003 Saturn Vue. The last couple of years Ive had the same issue with my key. First it would just come out with the car on. Then periodically stick and not come out. I was just searching a website to find out where to get another key and found all these complaints. The key actually is shaved down and the teeth are almost smooth, so I know its grinding on something. I just figured with Saturn out of business, I have no recourse. I have had numerous problems with my 2007 Saturn Outlook, which I purchased used in August of 2009. It has been in the shop more than it has been on the road. The windshield washer motor quit and a part had to be ordered, no power steering. The check engine light went on requiring a trip to the shop to fix whatever that problem was (which I dont remember now), except that it meant my remote start wouldnt work during the snow season, the headlight burned out two light bulbs prior to receiving the recall notice on that part - the list goes on!The most current and crucial issue is my transmission. I have 93,000 miles on this vehicle, and the transmission has gone out completely. I am expected to continue to make a monthly car payment of $465 on a car that doesnt run! The warranty ran out on Jan. 26, 2011 and the car quit running in March. I called several places to find out how much it will cost to fix and have been given prices from $3,000- $4,800! I am a single mother, who teaches in Detroit on a dwindling salary. I am worried about paying my rent, and I need a reliable car to get to work.I have called and talked to both the man who sold me this hunk of junk car, Tom, and Shelly in the service department, who is wonderful, but powerless. Both have told me there is nothing they can do, as the warranty expired two months prior to it breaking down. I have called GM financial to explain the situation, and they simply dont care. I have offered to give the car back; however, they will need a roll-off tow truck, as the car will not run! They informed me that they will take the car, sell it for the best price they can get, which will be very low, seeing as how there is oil in the mass air flow, no transmission, no power steering (which went out almost a year ago, but was not covered on aforementioned warranty!), and the brakes and routers need replacing.The difference between that selling price and what I owe, which is consequently about $18,000, will be reported to the IRS as unearned income. Then, I will get smacked with approximately $3,000 fee on my income tax in April! So, my choices are dismal! I can pay $3,000 at tax time, ruin my credit rating more than I already have, and have no car, or try to find some way to fix this horrible car.I am writing this to obtain help on getting GM to make this car purchase correct. I truly believe there were more issues with this car when it was sold to me than what was reported to me. The types of things that have gone wrong on this car should not happen to a car with less than 100,000 miles on it. Either fix the transmission, power steering, mass air flow and whatever else it needs and make this a reliable car, or take it back and give me something else for the $18,000 I have left to pay on. I cannot continue to make payments on a useless car and feed my child. I need to get to work and back safely. Please help me!

Integrity of repair quote and overall dissatisfaction: Im writing you (Mr. James) this morning to voice my frustration and overall disappointment with my service experience at your dealership. My family relocated to the area in spring of 2011 from Washington State and is the owner of a 2007 Saturn Outlook, which up until this past year, has been a reliable GM product. My wife went online to research which dealership in the area would be convenient to our residence in Anaheim Hills and also provide a level of service commensurate with the GM brand. She settled on Simpson of Buena Park.Our first encounter with your service department involved dealings with James, a service adviser at your location. We brought our vehicle in with just over 73k miles for an oil change, several leaks which we noticed, and air conditioning service. During the inspection, several serious powertrain defects were identified up to and including seals which needed to be replaced, sealant and coolant leaks timing chain and gasket repairs, drive shaft repairs, service engine light illumination which resulted in cam shaft end play shims replacement, water pump replacement, etc. While a majority of these items were under warranty, there was still $373 out-of-pocket expense. We left confident that any long-term serious issue was averted due to a very extensive inspection.In June of this year, we took the same vehicle back in to your dealership for service as another leak was noticed as well as a power steering noise. After inspection and an additional $615, we picked the car up with presumably everything in working order. August 9 of this year, less than 2 months after bringing the car in, the engine light came on and there was hesitation upon acceleration. Mr. Jose was the service adviser who assisted. That afternoon when I called to check on the status of the vehicle, I was informed that the vehicle needed a new engine! Luckily, we purchased an extended warranty when we purchased the vehicle off a lease in 2010.My specific frustrations are: 1) How could such a major defect not be noticed and identified by your service department just 2 months prior? 2) How often are GM vehicles with just 87k miles required to replace an engine? 3) My dealings with the first 2 service advisers (Mr. James and Mr. Jose), while expensive, were pleasant. My current dealing with Mr. Ted has been just the opposite. The fact that he stepped in while Mr. Jose has been away on holiday has proven to be stressful and impossible to get any information regarding the update and status of the vehicle. Hes now informing me that even with the extended warranty and a $100 deductible, Im still looking at between $500 and $600 out-of-pocket expense!Mr. James, to say that our trust in GM workmanship and quality has been diminished would be a gross understatement. The fact that Im being told that we have to pay even more money to repair what appears to be a GM defective product is insulting. I question the integrity of Mr. Teds actions, as the warranty company would not authorize a new motor at the suggestion/advice of Mr. Ted and hes passing some of those costs on to us. I would appreciate your review of this and any assistance you can offer. At this point, Im thoroughly disappointed not only in the decision to purchase a GM product in the first place but also on the decision on where it should be serviced. My 2007 Saturn Ion recently started having trouble starting. I assumed it was because of the cold weather, then I started smelling gasoline inside and outside my car. I took in the RJ & G Auto Care in Raleigh, North Carolina and they found that I had a crack in my fuel pump on the supply side, meaning it was not something that I did wrong. It was the manufacturer. I dealt with Jerry ** (the manager) and he was very nice and helpful! He checked with Bob ** on whether or not there was a recall on fuel pumps (there were not) and if it was under warranty so it could be replaced for free (which it was). Because RJ & G had to drop my gas tank to find the problem, I was charged $174.74. It was then towed from RJ & G to Bob Murray on Capital Blvd, costing me $85.00. I feel that I should be reimbursed the $259.74 that I had to pay out of pocket for something I did not cause. It is absolutely ridiculous that a 2007 with 53, 580 miles (at time of service) had a crack in the fuel pump! I am so thankful for Jerry who saved me a few hundred dollars but the problem should have never occurred. I asked Jerry if there was anything that I could have done to cause the crack and he said absolutely not. He came to this conclusion based on where the crack was at.

In 2006, I purchased a new 2006 Saturn Ion. I loved it at the time, but since then have had numerous problems. It is a lemon. I had to have the ignition system replaced because my key would get stuck in it every time I turned the car off. It is now doing this again. I have had the entire computer system replaced twice because all the gauges went hay wire while driving and wouldnt stop. Recently this has started happening again. Two years ago, my automatic windows stopped rolling down, then suddenly started working again for about 2 months, and now dont work. Talk about fun when going through a drive through and having to open your door because your windows dont work. My cigarette lighter fuse has to be replaced about once every 3 months because it shorts out. Last week I was adjusting my rear view mirror and it just fell off. It didnt come unglued from the window, but the ball and socket joint somehow broke and cant be fixed except by ordering a completely new mirror because for some reason you cant order that one little plastic part that broke. For the last year my gas gauge has been completely inaccurate. After filling up completely it says I only have 1/2 tank of gas and after driving for 20 minutes my gauge is on empty. So I have to rely on my low fuel message to come on, which Im sure wont be long before that breaks as well. The only good thing is that I havent had any engine trouble...yet.

The latest problem is the misfiring related to the engine light going on and no one finding the problems. The dealer I bought it from or an outside shop.. brought back 4 to six times to each and finally both did something with no charge. Going for second recall still have to keep horn disconnected due to it going off like an alarm. As per the electrical Issue they could not diagnose and still have to go for second recall for key getting stuck in ignition. There seems to be no end in sight and no one is able to help even the place I bought it from. It was owned by one guy before me who took excellent care and apparently they said traded it to upgrade. I feel I made a huge mistake and am in a money pit and they all know it and this car should be taken back.

Recently purchased a 2001 Saturn SC2. The ignition locked in the off position and there no way I could get it to turn. I broke one key and bent a spare. Finally had to get it towed and its at a local repair shop now. I have read many complaints on this issue, but apparently GM has never issued a recall. I used to be a big GM fan, but not now.

Common problems with Saturns. The L-SERIES timing chain brakes without warning , so if you are an owner always drive next to the side of the road for ease of stop when this happens (only a matter of time) the ION and VUEs have common transmission problems, the S-SERIES have a common leak issue, pretty much if you are a Saturn owner put about $4000 aside because you will need it sooner or later(sorry to say), and say a prayer before you drive that Saturn car always.

I fell in love with the Saturn VUEs when they first came out with them in 2000. I wanted one so bad. In 2002, I was in an accident in my 1995 Saturn Sedan with a tractor trailer. After 2 years of lawyers fees, I had enough settlement left over to buy a 2003 Saturn VUE. It was exactly what I was looking for, the color & all. I didnt care about the size of the motor. I was excited to be able to buy the car I wanted. Last year, I started hearing a noise coming from the motor that turned out to be the timing chain. Just recently, I had to take it off the road to keep it from blowing the motor. The 1995 Saturn was just taken off the road a couple weeks before with shot piston rings after 135k miles. We are now down to borrowing my father-in-laws truck, leaving us with no vehicle for me to take my kids to their doctors appointment while my husband is at work. I have to drum up $700.00 to replace a timing chain that Saturn knew had problems way back when.I understand that Saturn is out of business, but they are still repaired by GM parts. With all the complaints that I have been reading, you would think that GM would figure out in the long run that it would probably be cheaper to fix the problems rather than wait for the government to finally force a law suit causing more money to be paid out.I still love my Saturn VUE even though the transmission will most likely go out yet. But I have had this car for 6.5 years now & this is the first major problem I have had with it. Many others of you have had major problems from the start. I just want mine fixed. I just dont feel I should be responsible to pay for the problem GM knew was there.

I bought a brand new 2006 Saturn ION. Yesterday, the key decided to get stuck in the ignition. I couldnt twist it out so I eventually ended up yanking it out. I had to disconnect the battery so it wouldnt deplete as well.

I drive a 2006 Saturn Ion that I purchased 3 years ago. It has 54,000 miles on it. Two weeks ago, it developed transmission problems to the tune of $3000. My mother, like most people who received a recall letter in the mail this past year and who also happens to be one of the fortunate ones that can live to tell this story took her 2005 Saturn Ion to Love Chevrolet to have it serviced due to the ignition switch recall. Mind you there had been no issues with the car prior to. Where some people might say Saturns were poorly made my mothers car was actually one of the good ones. I always felt safe in it and more than safe enough to have my 5 year old daughter in the car. Whats the motto? If it isnt broke, dont fix it? Well, to say the least the day after Love put a generic ignition switch into her Saturn Ion handed her a new set of keys and told her the car was more than safe to drive long distances it was being towed off the side of the road. Their claim? My mother needed a new starter, 2 coil replacements and a new module and that the timing of the repairs was coincidental with what took place. The dealership was quick to tell us how much it would cost to replace the parts and was even quicker to let us know they would not be paying for it. Coincidental? Really?? Strike one. Thanks, GM. A few days later a family friend and mechanic does some research online, finds a starter from another Saturn and installs the part himself hoping to save my mother some money. However he is unable to run a diagnostic on the module because there is a code to get into it and only GM knows this code. Does that even sound legal to anyone else? GM has a code on your car making it near impossible for you to send it to any other place to have it fixed?? Its brilliant and slimy all at the same time..more slimy than brilliant. Anyhow, once the starter has been replaced all is well for about 3 hours and then its back to the side of the road we go. However, this time weve noticed some things. The car has no power, almost as if the battery has been drained and there is a smell coming from the ignition switch like something has burned up. So, with better judgment my mother decides to have it towed to a very trusted shop out in town instead of back to the GM dealership. I myself am military and stationed in Norfolk, VA and I often times wait to have maintenance done on my own car until Im visiting my mother in SC at this very shop, that is how trusted they are to me and my family. They explain to my mother that it is her ignition switch which is burning up her starter and draining her battery and they will personally give GM a call to find out what can be done since they should replace their faulty part. Sounds about right to me! GMs rebuttal? The mechanics my mother chose are not certified GM mechanics, a diagnostic was done previously while the car was at GM and since then my mother has had multiple hands in the car which could have caused those failures. They cannot be held responsible and will not be held responsible. Once again, GM was prepared with the labor and parts quote. Strike two and three. Thanks again, GM. Now, tell me something. Even if we were willing to have GM fix this again the trust is now out the window and my mother would be afraid to drive her car anywhere much less with my 5 year old daughter in it. I believe they would quietly fix the ignition switch issue and tell her it was something completely different. Is GM secretly trying to make up all the money they lost in labor for these recalls by putting parts in to cars they know are not necessarily compatible in hopes that these codes will force people to come back and have to pay out of pocket expenses? I know that my mother would hate to have another car payment right now but I have a feeling that regardless of if we spend the money to fix this or not that is exactly where we will end up, in a Honda dealership. People, please pay attention to what is going on out there with this recall. I would hate for this to happen to anyone else or worse. Thanks for absolutely nothing GM.

For the 3rd time now, my 06 Saturn Ion will not allow me to turn the key past on to attempt shutting off the car. I had a mechanic friend fix the problem the first time by removing the ignition lock and realigning the solenoid. When it happened again, he replaced the tumbler. Now that it has occurred a third time, within 2 years of owning the vehicle, I am furious.

The key of my 2007 Saturn got locked in the “on” position and couldn’t turn “off.” I know other Saturn owners who have had the same problem; I found numerous complaints on the Internet.

I cannot shut off my car. The key is stuck in the ignition. Had to take out a fuse. A recall is needed on the 2006 model.

I bought a Saturn Ion 3 years ago. At 93,000 miles, the timing chain jumped its track and now the car cannot run. The dealer I bought it from and the GM dealer said it will cost $2500.00 to fix. GM and the dealers will not help me with financing. The dealer I got it from will sell me another car but at a steeper payment to cover the difference. I bought this car used. I cant default without serious consequences. The car is a 2007. I need to know if anyone else has had this problem with Saturn Ions from 2006 to now.

I have had this car (2005 Ion) for about 2 years now and I like it; however, the ignition is very temperamental and sometimes I have to fiddle and finesse with the ignition so I can remove the key. It hasn’t screwed me so far, but I know it’s only a matter of time before it probably will. GM needs to recognize this problem and should have it recalled. Another fellow who wrote a review said to use part number 20869121 instead of the OEM part, which is the same piece of junk that’s in it now and will only give you the same problem.

I am on my third Saturn. I dont have an Ion. I have a 2007 VUE. I owned two other cars prior to this. My first two Saturns, within the warranty period, had to have the ignition replaced because they jammed and I couldnt turn the key to start the car. My VUE made it past the warranty period, but now is jamming up the same way. Another quirk: I can start the car and pull the key out and drive without the key in. I have to be careful to turn the ignition all the way to off before I pull the key out or the battery will die if the radio or something else is left on. I fully expect, based upon my experience today of trying for about 10 minutes to unlock the ignition and turn the key, that there will soon come a point where I cant start it and will have to pay loads to have the ignition replaced. Yes, three Saturns...same problem. If GM wanted to really be about customer service, they would acknowledge this issue.

I bought my Ion with cash a year ago. The first time I drove it through the canyon, I tried using the cruise control. It took several attempts but eventually it set. Unfortunately hitting the brake or engaging the clutch did not disengage the cruise control. Turning it off also did nothing. The best I could do is put it in neutral and let the RPSMs scream until eventually the cruise control disengaged. After this, several times while driving in town, in the city, with the cruise control button switched off, my car would engage the cruise control and begin to accelerate and I was unable to disengage it again but managed to avoid any accidents. I finally disconnected the battery to erase the memory and clear out any previous cruise control settings. Still cannot find anyone that can solve this mystery. My current problem is this: I was on the freeway when my car began to squeal much like the sound of a belt. The motor ran ok and I actually made it home and the car cut out in the driveway and will not start. I turned the key and it makes a very bizarre sound I have never heard before. Anyone w/ anything?

My wife recently had an accident where she fell asleep and crashed into a guard rail at 70 miles an hour. The airbags didnt deploy. Onstar didnt call either to check to see if she was alright. I was told that Onstar only calls if the airbags deploy. I am almost certain the car is totaled. I am currently waiting for my insurance company to let me know. They couldnt believe they didnt deploy either, considering my car says everything is ok. What is the purpose of airbags if they dont work? Luckily, my wife walked away without a scratch.

I have loved my 2004 Saturn Ion, bought it in August 2009 with 80k, and now June 2013 146k. No problems up to last month. But now when I put the key in, it wont even turn to the right. My sister and I have figured out that if you take your time to push up and to the right, about the 10th attempt it turns to the right and starts... SUPER ANNOYING! Reading these other reviews makes me want to quickly trade it in! So sad because I have loved not having a payment! :(

I am literally fed up with Saturn. I have been having all sorts of problems with this car, from the key being stuck in the ignition, to the car not starting anytime the temperature is below 50 degrees, to the car stopping in the middle of the traffic. I have notified Saturn and even payed them before they went out of business, to fix this problem and yet it still exist. I have contacted the BBB and was stated that nothing could be done because I was past the warranty and lemon laws for the state of TN. Someone needs to help us. Within an hour, I have read about 20 complaints. Does it take that many complaints to get attention about these cars? This is horrible. Im so upset with Saturn, GMC, and BBB, for not supporting their customers.

It was the second time the key locked, and I was unable to remove it. The first time it happened at 9,000 miles; I was over one hour from home, and drove back home. I pulled the fuse, and it was towed to the dealer. It was under warranty, and the ignition replaced. The second time it happened it was at 37,000 miles. I was in the parking lot for doctor’s appointment when it happened. I missed the appointment. I drove to the dealer, and they replaced the ignition. I paid for labor only, but am going to ask GM to pay for that too. It was very stressful and scary. The comments are that this is a defective part.

My key gets stuck in my Saturn Ion ignition switch. It turns as far back that the car turns off but that the radio is still on. This problem has caused my battery to die a few times but for the most part, it is just a pain to remember to go back for my key before bed. Sometimes it will come out within seconds; other times, it is several hours. As I read on this site and a few others, it is a big issue. I wish they would issue a recall. Just the other day, I received a letter about a recall on the power steering. Hopefully, they will have one for this too!

I own a 2009 Saturn Outlook XR with approximately 84000 miles on the vehicle. The transmission has failed on the vehicle, and the warranty was for five years or 100,000 miles. My local dealer has said the five years are up and they will not give me any consideration for repairs and want over four thousand dollars to repair it. When the towing company placed the vehicle on the roll back, the operator made the statement that he averages quite a few of these a week! This vehicle has had at least six recalls on major issues, water pump, power steering, power tailgate, seat belts, and etc. I can assure you this will be the last GM vehicle that I will ever buy. I have talked to two transmission shops in town and have been told that this transmission has had issues from the very start, and GM has been working on correcting the problem with the transmission. I was told GM has made three changes in the last twenty-four months to correct the problems with this transmission. Thanks GM, for keeping your customers updated on a defective transmission.

I have a 2007 Saturn Ion. Last year, during summer, I got in the car to go to work and my key would not turn in the ignition. So, I missed work, had to get a tow, and had to have the ignition lock/cylinder replaced on my car (that I am still making payments on). Now, a year later, my key keeps getting stuck when I try to turn the car off.
