Mazda CX-7 manufacturing failure - When it comes to their advanced designs, meticulous craftsmanship, and quality factory parts, all Mazdas are created equal. In March of 2011, my now wife and I were in the market for a new vehicle. With the thought of a family not too far off in the distance, we decided that it was time to sell her 2002 Ford F-150 that she had owned since college and look for a pre-owned crossover SUV. After doing some general searching, she found that she liked the Mazda CX-7s. We did some exhaustive searching online and found a reasonably priced CX-7 being sold by a private seller in San Antonio. We received a pre-approval for financing through my employer. So that weekend, they made contact, worked out a place to meet, and on March 18, 2011, we became the owners of a 2007 Mazda CX-7 Sport. And that is where the honeymoon ended.After six months, we began to have mechanical issues with the vehicle. A diesel-sounding chug coming from the engine seemed off for an unleaded four-cylinder SUV. The vehicle had less than 60,000 miles when we purchased it and by the time we began to notice the issues, the drive train warranty had expired. I began to do some in-depth research into this year/make/model and the results I unearthed were astounding. The 2007 CX-7 has been plagued with poor craftsmanship direct from the factory. The horror stories about this vehicle are anywhere and everywhere. I even saw one to where the consumer experienced full engine failure before 30,000 miles. The common issue seemed to be a part called a VVT actuator. No recalls or service advisories had been issued for engine parts at this time. However, in January 2012, an entire half-decade after the vehicle rolled off the assembly line, we received a Variable Valve Timing Noise and Timing Chain Noise Warranty Extension notice by mail from Mazda.A month or so after we received the notice, the vehicle began leaking oil. We took our vehicle into a Roger Beasley Mazda Center and had it examined. The oil cooler on the vehicle was beginning to fail. We explained the notice that we received in the mail and they were already well aware of these issues. We were told the engine had engine sludge and with it being a second-owner vehicle, we did not have the documentation to prove that regular oil changes had been performed. Instead, all repairs and replacements would come from our own pockets. The result ended up being a need to replace the VVT actuator, the timing chain, the oil cooler, and replacing all of the gaskets. The technician showed us a side-by-side of the current timing chain and the new replacement, the used chain had literally stretched to be about half an inch longer than the replacement. We drove off the lot and hoped that the problems had been solved.Within two months of the repairs, the engine began making a high-pitched whining noise. My wife contacted the dealership that day while at work and they said to bring it in. On the way to the dealership, which is less than 10 miles away, the vehicle died on the freeway. This ended up being the result of a blown turbocharger. Again, we had to take money from our nest egg to replace yet another part on this vehicle. Mazda Corporate has been overwhelming uncooperative with patrons regarding this matter and has repeatedly declined to take ownership of their poor engineering of this particular model and instead, continuously places the blame on the purchasers of their vehicles, claiming poor maintenance has resulted in the failure of its parts. We are now hoping we can sell the vehicle to avoid the fate of so many other CX-7 owners - that of owning a giant paperweight with a $300 per month payment. This experience will lead us to never purchase a Mazda ever again and to encourage those around us to do the same.

A word to the wise, if you have a mechanical problem check to see what issues Mazda may be extending warranty coverage. From experience, dealerships and Mazda provide no foreknowledge to a problem with faulty manufacturing issues that are covered under an extended warranty. On my daughters 2012 CX9 there was a factory problem with a brake line. Dealer quoted over $800 repair cost and never informed us that this problem was covered under extended warranty. I happened to find out by internet search, it was a warranty covered issue and we still fell within extended warranty time and mileage limits. She now is told the AWD is not functioning due to a faulty factory power transfer unit. There was and still is no indication by any warning light or anything that a problem with the AWD occurred. Unfortunately, the extended warranty time limit expired 6 months ago. We have no idea when the AWD failed and neither does Mazda dealership. I can see that this is going to be difficult to get this covered because no one can tell if it failed under the warranty limits (we are still within the mileage limit). This is a $1500 repair quote. I think if Mazda has knowledge of factory failures this information should be made more readily available to consumers. Or better yet MAKE YOUR DAMN CARS BETTER!!!

Looms Ford knew that the battery was going, told me when theres a problem, contact us. When the car wouldnt start about 6 weeks later, I called and they informed me, not their problem. The battery blew up under the hood, had it towed, mechanic said he never seen anything like it. Thats the first problem. Car made a whistle noise, come to find out its the turbo. Mind you this car has only 64K miles on it.Called Mazda, told them the turbo had failed. They want records of all maintenance. I can give them records of battery situation because the car was towed. But when it comes to changing oil or filters, I am quite capable. Now they wont fix turbo because I chose to change my own oil instead of paying someone else to do it. Mazda us nothing but a letdown. I wouldnt recommend a Mazda vehicle to my worst enemy. I will NEVER buy another Mazda.

Mazda should stand behind their products. I own a 2001 Mazda Tribute and have had multiple problems with it. I have spent thousands of dollars trying to keep it running. I really think hundreds of Tribute owners who have had trouble with their SUVs should file suit. I drive carefully and take really good care of my cars and I still have all of these problems. This is my first and last Mazda. Here is a list of current and past problems: car door handle broken, coils replaced, transmission problems, radiator replaced (it split open), fuel modulator replaced, CV joints problem, rear hatch doesnt lock, interior linings coming off/ash tray and cup holders broken, and exhaust leaks/catalytic converter.

I like that its strong, reliable, and has decent mileage. Its a great color, charcoal grey. I feel sexy driving this car. I feel like the brakes are completely reliable as well. But my model is a bit sporty for me. Id also like to sit a little higher and have better visibility especially the back window. Id love one of those backup cameras as well.

My brand new 2014 Mazda6 Grand Touring is a very lovable car. Great gas mileage, comfortable seats, smooth ride & drop dead good looks. My issue is with the Bose Audio speakers. Specifically the rear speakers. While traveling with some friends, our friends mentioned that the rear speakers were not working. So I tried to adjust this through the menu on the infotainment system. Even after moving more of the audio to the rear, the sound was barely audible.I had the dealership look into this the next time I went for an oil change. They agreed that the sound level was very low. They said they checked similar Mazda6 vehicles on the lot and found them to be the same. The response was that the minimal sound from the rear was part of the Bose design, or at least that is the official Mazda reasoning. So I sent a letter to Bose and actually got a response, but still no fix. They said their engineers would look into the concern, but I have not heard back.I upgraded (spent more) to the Grand Touring to get the Bose system at significant expense. I am very disappointed with the performance and the sound emanating from the rear of this vehicle. In my opinion, Mazda has tried to reduce the weight of this car in so many areas, that they sacrificed a proper power amplifier to drive the rear speakers. I have had Bose systems before, and found them to be superior to this unit in my 2014 Mazda6. I wish Mazda would fess up and deal with this issue rather than point to Bose intended design as the scapegoat.

Fast forward to today: it seems my transfer case blew, causing my transmission to blow and therefore causing the fire. There are no previous issues with the truck, no lights signaling an issue with the truck, nothing. Mazdas response? Well, Im under warranty, so its fully covered. Great, so can one get an explanation as to why a two-year-old vehicle would just catch on fire??? Nope, nothing, not from the dealership nor Mazda. In doing research, theres a nationwide reoccurring problem with transfer cases, and even a pending class action suit. Mazdas response? Nothing. Dodge my phone calls and emails, and dont even contact back my lawyer. Its disgusting how were the very people that gave them jobs, but the moment that a family is put in harm, they could care less. Most disgusting company I have ever come across. Mazda - you should be ashamed as to how you treat the very people that give you the opportunity to make a living. Simply disgusting!!!

I called my insurance company and they use a TPA that replaces windshields for them. It took the company 6 weeks to install my new windshield, because every time the windshield was delivered it was cracked. Just Monday, April 25th, I am driving to work and another pebble hit my windshield. I did not think much of it, until then I saw a spider crack going up my windshield... Not again!Is there a defect with these windshields? Then, it takes 4-6 weeks for a replacement to be installed because Mazda is SO backed up from California and then they arrive broken. I would appreciate Mazda to respond and to fix this issue, as this is a serious defect! It is against the law to drive with a broken windshield. And then be told that there is a 6-8 week back order. One window replacement company told me 3 months... are you kidding me! Mazda - you need to look into a recall!!! If not, you will have class-action on your hands!

Since I bought this car in July of 2012 with 54000 miles, its been an amazingly reliable car. It handles really good, good acceleration and very quick. I average about 40.5 mpg with a good amount of city driving. Its a very easy and fun to drive car. I still have the original tires on it with 79000 miles and still has a little bit of tread left. Im pretty surprised with the tires life, especially being a 45000 miles rated tire. Ive never had an issue or problem with it and I look forward to all the moments Ill have with this car.

In July 2010, because I loved it so much, after test driving several other cars in the same class, I financed the rest and kept it. I have proof of all my oil changes and maintenance to the vehicle. I paid it off nearly one year early with some of my retirement savings so I could enjoy not having a monthly payment for the first time in my life. I also put brand new tires on and another $3,000 of maintenance, replacing the cracked transfer case, leaking oil cooler and loose ball joint (as recommended by Mazda). I responded promptly to all recalls by bringing it right to the dealership I leased and purchased it from. In January 2015, my family was in the car on the way to the mall. The check engine light came on. My husband and I argued for 20 seconds about how he felt there were always problems with the car (I still disagree to this day with the always part). 10 seconds later....the engine shut off, he was barely able to steer the car down an exit ramp off the highway when the car completely stopped. Black smoke came pouring out of the hood. We grabbed our two toddlers out of the their car seats and I stood with them in the freezing rain while flames shot out of the bottom and sides of the car and my husband called 911. Ill never forget how I stood there with tears streaming down my face, shivering and trying to hold my babies while my Mazda that I trusted for almost 8 years, burned beyond recognition in front of me. Thank God nobody was hurt. We dont know what caused it since no warning lights were on prior to that and nothing was reported to me by Mazda service when it was in the shop not even 6 weeks earlier. The insurance money is barely covering what I put in to this car in the last 5 months. I wont buy a Mazda ever again, and I suggest you dont either.

I have had regular oil changes and have done all scheduled maintenance since Ive owned it. I had issues with the tie rods (scary story as well) that needed replacing. I expect brakes, tires, batteries, etc. will need replacing. I even expect that at some point the water pump will require replacing. What I did not know, is that the water pump, which of course failed a month before Christmas, is in the middle of the engine. In order to replace this $159 part, the entire engine had to be removed. I was without my car for 4 days and the total bill was over $1700. $159 in parts and $1500 in labor ($105 per hour). I am of course out of warranty but the dealer said to call the customer service number, they will likely help. NOPE, not a dime. What I have discovered about Mazda is that MAZDA DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. I will NEVER buy another Mazda and I will be telling the world for the rest of my life. Mazda just doesnt care about their customers so think of that before you make such an expensive purchase.

We wanted the benefits of a minivan that was easier to maneuver and at a lower price. However, it has poor overall leg room and we cannot use the third row seats for people of all ages and sizes. We want more overall leg room, but especially more room for the third row seats. This would help to carry people of all ages and sizes in all of the passenger seats.

No kidding, literally on the road, using the navigation I spent several hundred dollars for, the cars computer reboots. Not once, twice. I take it to the dealership, the guy says yeah, the computer needs to be updated, no big deal.Then there is the computer not recognizing my phone 9 times out of 10, including when I wanted to dial 911 to report an accident. So useful! Even when it does recognize the phone, want to play Pandora? Better have the phone on and Pandora open or else nope. Open phone and turn on Pandora after the car decides it cant find them? Nope. Not going to recognize Pandora until you turn the car off and back on again. Want to use the iPod that is literally plugged into it? Maybe. We might let you. Unless we refuse to recognize it until you reboot the iPod and turn off and on the car.Then the drivers seat ripped within a few months of purchase. I took it in, it took weeks to replace the seat. Then the plastic piece that protects the electronics under the drivers seat broke. I took it in, got it fixed, that took weeks because the part had to be ordered. It broke again. I got it fixed again. It just broke this evening, and I just dont even know what to do. I deeply regret purchasing this vehicle.

Noticed immediately the rear passengers inside windows were frozen solid and that snow was blowing inside the door of the rear passenger side. Called Mazda immediately and they told me they had no complaints about this issue. They told me to take it to the dealership to test it out. The problem was they test it inside and not outside when the weather is freezing. They did nothing about it and sent us home with the Mazda. They said I could trade it in for about a $5000.00 loss and get a new 2014-2015. The 2014 only has 3800 miles on it. The experience has been a nightmare.

Mazda customer service is useless! They do not bother once you have bought the car! Stay clear, buy another make! Mazda keeps on making alibis and finally turns down customer complaints. Mazda installed a tail light that burned both tail light housing. I reported this for replacement but Mazda strongly turned down the request. They even used ego tripping words that means they are still untouchable and they can turn down any customer despite of their world renowned factory defects. Where can users effectively complain Mazda customer neglect? Please help! With the poorest after sales service, Mazda should not be in the car business. I have used Toyota and Honda for ten years and I have not had any traumatic experience that I have on my first month in using Mazda.

After less than a year of ownership my MX-5 convertible was developing holes in the soft top from rubbing on the frame. I researched the problem and found several instances of this including a long term test done by Motor Trend that showed photos of the top wearing in the same exact spots as mine. Their top and others I saw were fixed by replacing the frame with a newer design that doesn’t rub and the cloth soft top. For some reason on mine they will only replace the cloth top. That will not solve the problem.The service department agrees with me and so did The person at Mazda I talked to on the phone but Mazda still won’t approve the frame replacement. This will be my first and last Mazda purchase! I have owned several new cars and have never experienced anything as bad as this. It’s a shame because I really do like the car otherwise. But if they won’t fix an obvious problem I’m not going to take a chance that I’ll have a worse problem later. Trading it in for another car before this new top starts getting holes in it!

(My last car was a 2007 and it had 380,000 km on it when I finally decided to buy a new car.) My criteria: The car needed to have XM/Sirius availability, a bluetooth that enabled true hands free use of my cell phone calls and an easy to use, straightforward navigation system. I was told the CX 5 I was purchasing had all three… WHAT A LIE!!!I paid an extra $1300 for the tech package to be installed into the car that would supposedly allow all three of above criteria. Immediately it was evident that something was wrong with the navigation (or so I thought). It took no less than 7 step to input any address into it. It was impossible to use on the fly and required not only pulling over to input info BUT it demanded 6 more levels of information before it would give me directions! Im serious. After returning to Budds dealership to attempt to gain further insight on how to correct this issue it became evident that NONE of the salespeople knew how to operate it! NONE! Not even the sales manager. We had to contact the Navigation system manufacturers in the state to find out what the problem was. Turns out, there was no problem. That was the crappy-ass cheap nav system that Mazda had ordered for their 2016 CX line of cars!!! Oh - by the way, the voice recognition is non-existent. Now I am back to driving around having to rely on my iPhone Google Maps to direct me on my travels. Nice to know Mazda has our backs (tongue firmly planted in check) helping its customers abide by the hands free driving rules now strictly in place in Canada and the US. There is no excuse for this type of 20th century technology in todays 21st century, seriously?? The XM was a joke, it does not actually show up on the in-dash display. It is provided exclusively by a tiny little remote that has push buttons. No scrolling capability, no visual feedback about what station you are on or listening to, unbelievable. By the way, I had the tech package removed and requested my $1300 back. My Bluetooth is another matter, cuts in and out on a regular basis. I have to reconnect my phone and the cars bluetooth at least 4 times a month. Again, as with the nav system, the voice recognition is non-existent.I HATE THIS CAR. $40,000 and 7 yrs of car payments for the privilege of driving a car with no nav system, XM/Sirius or bluetooth capability. So basically I am back driving around having to use my iPhone for cell calls and google maps. One more thing, the gas mileage sucks, the tank is the size of a football. I am filling up every second or third day AND it sounds like a diesel engine when you first start it up. I thought something was wrong with the muffler when I first started driving it. Turns out the loud engine and exhaust noise is the result of the skyactiv technology they use, another huge marketing BS story they try to sell you about why Mazda is so advanced. Did I mention HOW MUCH I HATE THIS CAR??

I actually went to have the car checked due to the notice, and I found that there was a problem with mine. This is no lie, what I am about to tell you. On the way back from the shop, my timing chain broke! This caused an enormous amount of damage, and thereby I have incurred a huge bill to have this fixed. I contacted Mazda Corp and explained that I had no way to indicate that I have had all the oil changes done due to the fact that my husband changes our oil on all our cars. They said to me that I have no recourse and there are no loopholes for my situation. They will not honor the situation.I am extremely disappointed in the service and the behavior of Mazda Corp. I have recently learned that others have experienced this same problem. Even though Mazda knew that there was a problem and thereby sent the notice in the first place, they are still unwilling to fix the problem or take care of the monetary damages. I am asking everyone who reads this and has had a problem with Mazda concerning this situation to contact me because I am going to file a Civil Suit against Mazda, but we must join forces in order to do this. The day after she got it home, it did the same exact thing. She took it back to the Mazda garage and then they told her that she needs a new engine, but her warranty had expired a couple days prior to her taking it back in. Now she is due to start her freshman year at college, with an unreliable car unless shed rather use her tuition money for a new engine (I dont think so). Mazda should be embarrassed to allow a young lady to feel unsafe, when she is trying to get an education and better herself. I have it towed to the closest shop to where I stalled out at, and they tell me that at 77,000 miles I need a NEW ENGINE! I had 2 other opinions from different mechanics and they all stated the same. I towed it over to the Mazda dealer that I bought it from, and they have basically told me tough luck. I forwarded every service record that I had since I purchased the car. But I would have to fork out $6k for a brand new engine. I will never purchase another Mazda again, nor will I ever recommend my family and friends. In a automotive industry that is fighting to retain their customers, I wouldve thought this wouldve been a great way to earn a customer for life. If you own a Mazda beware. As I stated there was no warning, and I wasnt due for another service appt for another 2 months. Way to go Mazda!

In the survey, they asked a very clear question if they filled up the tank with fuel. However, after I answered the question as honest as I knew of the thing they were supposed to do which was some negative and some positive, I got Schaumburg Mazda dealer doing things to the car every time I took the car for oil change. The first time, they lost the the bottom bolts of the front suspension lower control arm; then they made the tire lose air so the light for the tires in the cluster will light and the next time they had it for three days. Now, the car does not have traction and every time it spins the wheel because of slippery road. The engine lost power. The suspension does not have a grip to the floor so maybe they even took some suspension parts out. They did more to the car. I had just been honest to their survey and I believed the survey is a snare to the customers so they know who they will target to damage their car. Now, how can I prove the dealer has done things to the car with the performance of the car being diminished? I know if I take the car back to the dealer, they will finally make the car to break down beyond repair and, after the warranty is going to expire, where I can go to have them repair the car and have the absolute confidence the car will last with the care I give the years that it should. Never again will I buy a Mazda car not because they are not good but because the dealer is not honest to their customers. After they get their money, they do not care one bit about you, your car or their business.As a side note, I did talk to Mazda headquarters but it was worse than just to let it alone. Apparently, they are just so arrogant that they have the control of the dealer and they allow those things to happen.

We are both working parents of a two and a half year old toddler who needs to be taken to daycare every day. The CX7 is our only car, therefore in the past three weeks; weve had to rely on friends, co-workers and now a rental car to make it to work and our daughters daycare. The rental car is costing us a lot of money, and neither our warranty, nor Mazda is willing to cover the rental car fees. We have no estimate as to when the VVT part will arrive for our Mazda CX7 and no way of getting around. We are financially unable to continue paying for the rental car.Having said all that, I am extremely disappointed and angry with Mazda. It seems that VVT (variable valve timing) part is now a known problem with Mazda CX7, so this is a faulty VVT problem that Mazda is aware of, yet no one we spoke with from Mazda is willing to show any compassion for us. Mazdas response to our problem is simply that since we dont have proof of enough oil changes (weve only had the car for less than a year), and we dont have our extended warranty with Mazda, therefore its not their problem. In total, I would estimate probably 10-12 times. A few I did have done at Valvoline when I had a quick oil change and they noticed a bulb out. But I have also had it to the dealer several times pleading with them to figure out why the car keeps blowing bulbs. Their answer every time just the bulb and bulbs blow which means I have to pay for it because warranty doesnt cover unless its a defect. Ive owned several other cars both new and old and never had to replace more than 1-2 bulbs in my life. Same goes for every single person I talk about this. Why is it everyone thinks theres something more going on except the dealer? So I dropped it off again this morning and they are already trying to tell me last bulb I replaced was passenger side and this time its driver side, so probably just the bulb again but they will do a diagnostic and my charge will be a minimum of $90 for that. Very dissatisfied with Mazda and the dealer (Jeff Schmidt Mazda in Beavercreek, Ohio). Very poor customer service. Do they really think its okay to have to replace a bulb in your car every 3 months?! He ran the diagnostic test on my car and found out that the ECM computer system had failed, and also fried 6 of my coils. My mechanic had given me a quote of $1,400 for repairs. In the meantime, I was calling around to see if I could find an ECM for a cheaper price. I came across an EPA federal warranty that stated: Any vehicle with less than 80,000 miles and less than 8 yrs. old is entitled to this EPA warranty on any specified major emission control components. The warranty states that all components are covered and the manufacturer will have to repair the components free of charge. I brought the warranty over to my mechanic to look it over. He stated that he would call Mazda and find out if they will honor this federal warranty. My mechanic spoke with a gentleman named Robert **. He approved the use of the warranty and told the mechanic to have us bring the vehicle over to Mazda. The next day, I paid to have the car towed to Mazda. Robert ** stated that he would call me before he started to give me a price on the repairs. When he called later that afternoon, he gave me a quote of $1,700. This was $300 more than my mechanic. He then called back again and stated that he would drop the cost to $1,345. It is costing me the same price with the warranty as it would have at my mechanics garage, without the warranty. I also had to pay to have the car towed to Mazda. I only brought it over to Mazda because the gentlemen stated he would honor the warranty, and he is charging me more. I feel belittled and taken advantage of.

I asked if I could just take my vehicle to a mechanic and have them repair it and be reimbursed and the customer service rep said, “no it will have to be a Mazda dealership for warranty to cover it.”In conclusion, there is no guarantee that my vehicle will be picked up, and if it is there is no guarantee that it will be dropped off. Also no reimbursement so I am paying out of pocket. What is the point of a “warranty” that does not give you options to repair your vehicle? The customer service rep said she would transfer me to her supervisor and that she also sent her my number in case we got disconnected. Recently, at 25,000 miles, the service manager at this dealership finally told me my rotors were out of round so they were going to ground them down to make them straight. I requested they be replaced with new rotors but they said no. The dealer who sold me the car with the defective rotors said no and Mazda Headquarters said see the dealer who sold me the car.The dealer I bought the car from said its an issue of wear and he doesnt do warranty work unless hes paid by Mazda. His service mgr. said he didnt feel or see a problem during a test drive after the rotors were filed down so they refused to replace them. If it was an issue of wear, the problem would not have been occurring since I bought the car. Filing down the rotors mostly eliminated the problem, thus indicating the rotors were bad from the start. To make sure the dealer saw information about the wheels wobbling in formal complaints on paperwork from the 3,000- and 25,000-mile oil changes, I filed a complaint with the state. They sent me a notice that the dealer said it was a wear problem and they would check with Mazda Headquarters!!Now Im wondering if the State of Michigan Attorney General has the will to tackle big business. I sent them every piece of information related to the problem and I would like my rotors replaced. Anybody out there have any ideas, similar problems?

I was told they were getting prices and would call me back. When they called back, the quote was $400 for a sensor and sub tank. I declined the service since it was just a light issue. They quoted a repair of an AC control at $889.59 plus taxes that came to $1000.08. One has to have air in Memphis, so I authorized the repair. When I arrived to pick up the car, they read the repairs performed to me and stated there was damage to the AC face plate during prior work (Quote from invoice - the face plate is already damaged inside from someone doing prior work, but all seems okay though). I stated that the AC had never been worked on by anyone other than the Mazda dealer. I paid for the service, $1000.08, got in my car to find that the radio did not work and there were no lights on the radio/temp display nor were the lights on the AC controls working. I went right back in the shop to notify them. I was informed that there was no one available to look at the car because it was late on 7/3 and the next day was a holiday. The tech called Gary, who said they would send someone to pick up my car at my work on 7/5/2012. They came and got it. It was at the shop for a couple of hours when Gary called back to inform me the problem was with the face plate. The cost of this repair would be around $500. He stated that the displays were working at that time but he didnt know if it would last. They brought the car back to me. I made it less than a mile before the radio and the Ac controls went out. I smacked the dashboard and they came back on. The next morning, the same thing happened again. I have never once had a problem with my radio and AC controls before Garys team took it apart. If it had truly been damaged (by Mazda in a prior service), one would think in seven years, I would have had the problem prior to this service. I have placed a call to the Service Department manager, with no response as yet.

The hood came down on it and actually latched. I was trapped for about an hour until I finally broke off the wiper arm and pried my hand out. Its badly smashed and I have numbness in my hand but Im thankful to have my fingers. My car also has the recall for the sticking throttle. I got the recall letter in August. Its now the middle of November and Im told theres only parts for 04 models and older. They have made modifications to unlatch and open a trunk from the inside and outside but beware, if that hood latches close, there’s no way out except the release located in the driver’s side. Seriously, 26,000. I don’t think I will purchase another product from them ever again.

This did not seem to me like normal life of wear and tear. At the same time, my AC stopped working. They charged me another $100.00 to tell me that it could cost up to $700.00 to fix it. Again, this is not to me acceptable wear and tear. I live in Canada and use the AC 2 months out of 12. They said that the vehicle still runs the AC in winter to get the humidity out. Anyhow, I figure that if they had told me as a selling point, buy this vehicle and you will need to spend money to fix things that should be normally working given the age of the vehicle, but wont. Sign on the line please. In June 2013, I went in for some noise in the front undercarriage. They said that they had to check if the warranty was still on. Now, I drove the vehicle out for the 1st time on July 9th, 2010. They were arguing with me that it was in May, at 1st. Then, they gave me another date in mid-June. I said that any half bit lawyer would agree with me, since there it was on paper. A day later, I went back, and they said that the financial adviser had filed the wrong contracts. Imagine my surprise, they were finally willing to take my original contract as being the correct one. I am not at all satisfied with the service nor the quality of this vehicle I have at this time. I am still making payments on it, and on top of that, I need to fix things that should be almost outliving the vehicle.

It is not too large and easy for me to handle. It was a really good deal compared to what you would pay for other cars in this price and category. However, the center console and screen is a little too small, and it is difficult to use while I am driving. You cant just glance at it and flip the channel. And I would make the seats move a little more, for someone with shorter legs it is hard to reach the pedals.

Not a drag racer but enough power and handling to make you feel comfortable and secure plus good mileage. The ride is firm but not rough and it handles well. Im 511 tall and the seating is comfortable and all controls are readily accessible and dont see any reason this car would be any less comfortable on a long trip than any of the larger cars Ive owned prior.

From day one, I have experienced problems shifting into 1st gear, where it just plain and simple will not go into gear. This happens whether the car is cold or warm. Also on 2nd gear and reverse. It sticks in almost every gear. It clunks loudly when putting the car into 1st gear initially and when going from 1st to 2nd. It also accelerates on its own when I am both shifting up and shifting down. I have almost hit someone at a stop light and while sitting in stop and go traffic because of this issue. It happens every day, intermittently. I feel very unsafe driving it. Mazda has said that they will contact the dealership and speak to them, because the dealership will not confirm nor deny that these things shouldn’t be happening, which is weird seeing as the car is brand new and no brand new car should ever refuse to go into gear nor drive on its own. I had a 2004 before this with zero problems and I regret buying up. I am very unhappy and in danger.

We brought the car back to Harris for repair. Their mechanic said it was the alternator belt and replaced it the same day. Two weeks later, the car started making noises and going backwards while in drive. I took the car back to Harris Auto Group, and they sent us to A-1 Economy Transmissions for a transmission repair. The car stayed at A-1 for repairs from Monday, 10/1, to Friday, 10/5/12, but it would be under warranty. We would only have to make a $100 deductible payment. Mind you, we are still supposed to continue to make our regular car payments during all of these repairs. We picked up the car on Friday, October 5, 2012. We paid $187.50, our deductible, plus sales tax. On Saturday, October 6, 2012, we decided to ride to Burlington from Bordentown to get some Chinese food. Well, we never made it back home. The car’s alternator belt broke, and the car overheated and shut off. Well, we called Harris Auto Group and asked about a tow and repairs. We were told “Sorry, I can’t authorize a tow.” What the hell? Well, now we have to spend money for a tow back to Bordentown. On Monday, October 8, 2012, I paid $130 for replacement belts only for the mechanic to tell me the water pump is about to go. WTH! What more can go wrong with this stupid car?!

We found out the motor mounts had failed, which seemed to be a common problem on Mazdas. Worst of all, as we saw online, it often happened again and again.Six months before, wed had the motor mounts replaced. Our mechanic found a crack in one of them and suggested replacing them all, with Mazda parts. Wed had no trouble with the car since then, and had only gone another 7000 miles. I spoke to the service manager at the Mazda dealer, who said hed never seen an engine fallout in the years hed been there. He said Id have to contact Mazdas corporate office; they made all decisions, and maybe theyd help with repairs. The corporate woman I spoke with wasnt overly encouraging. She only said wed have to have the car towed to them so their service dept could check it out.Merry Christmas? Customer service? Online comments made us doubtful that Mazda would ever help us, and I shuddered to think where wed be if the engine had fallen while we were on the freeway. We finally decided, instead of spending too much time and money on a car we could never really trust again, to buy a new car--NOT a Mazda. A photo of our good-looking Mazda3 convinced the dealer to take it as a trade-in, and have it towed to them. We only got 107,000 miles out of our Mazda3, the least weve ever had on a car. Needless to say, it will be the last Mazda well buy. Warning to other Mazda3 owners: every time you have your car serviced, have them check the motor mounts. It could save you all kinds of grief, and maybe your life.

No potholes or dirt roads, etc.; per car fax, this vehicle has no history of any damage whatsoever. After reading multiple websites, as well as the NHTSA concerning these very same issues with the Mazda 5 models from 06 to 10...I contacted Mazda USA. They were of no help. I requested the changes that were made to the Mazda 5s that resolved these issues and was flat-out denied this information, and when asked why they couldnt provide, they continually ignored my requests for an explanation as to why they were withholding the updates and changes. They also stated they would be of no assistance to resolving this major safety issue. Im shocked as to why they would withhold information to a Mazda 5 owner who carts around her family daily. I want to know how to properly correct this very dangerous issue, but was denied this information after multiple attempts to obtain it. With the amount of complaints concerning the very same issues with this particular vehicle...something needs to be done to ensure the safety of the families who ride in these cars daily with the potential risk of tire failure. Since its the inner wall wearing, operators cannot see the damage; they only see the outer tire, which shows minimal wear... Its very serious and very dangerous...

We only had our car for 9 months and we had our windshield replaced twice already! The first one happened twice in one week after 3 months purchasing the car. Now, it happened again after six months. The first replacement was an original Mazda windshield, now we are trying a different brand to see if it happens again. I had a Toyota Celica year 2001 for 12 years but never encounter this type of problem, so I dont think its my driving. I hope they do something about this, because according to the company that did my car the first time, they have also had plenty of repairs done for the same car. Hope this review helps!

The dealer contacted Mazda but because I could not prove that I rotated the tires (I do them myself and I check tire pressure bi-weekly) and because I did not have an alignment done at 12 months/12,000 miles I was not covered under warranty. This is completely unacceptable for a car that is less than two years old to have that kind of tire wear. I took the car in for an alignment to a third party and was told that both rear cambers are out of spec but they cannot be adjusted once they leave the factory. I believe I purchased a defective vehicle but Mazda will not replace it and it appears there is no fix to prevent it from happening again.The cost of the alignment and four tires was $582.

I wanted a car with Bluetooth capabilities. There was a phone deckle on one of the buttons so I said good it has Bluetooth. Not once was I corrected even after saying at least five more times that that was a deal breaker. I am on the road a lot and depend on my phone. I was told that I didnt need a 4X4 that the Tribute would make it through any snow and ice and have no problem getting up my sister’s drive because of the weight of the engine, and the space between the wheels was so large. I got stuck in the parking lot at work today. I had to be pulled out, not impressed. My starter went on my Tribute a couple of months ago. It is a 2012 Tribute, and the starter went once again not impressed. And when I got my car back, there was grease all over the hood. When people ask me what I drive, I say a Mazda Tribute and if they ask me if I would recommend it, I say no and would suggest not looking at Mazda. Pretty sad when I am paying a payment beyond my means, and I have to borrow a 4X4 just to go to work to pay for a car that is sitting in my driveway because it wont move in the Alberta weather.

I applied the brake but the truck did not slow. I applied the brake even harder and it slowed a bit but I could tell I wouldnt stop in time. Fortunately the light changed and I went on through. It worried me, but I took it to be a fluke.The second time, I was pulling into a parking space in a strip mall. When I applied the brake, the truck rocketed forward. I slammed on the brake and was able to stop but the RPMs were so high, the drive wheel was still spinning. I flipped it into neutral and turned the key off. Had there been an obstacle, or heaven forbid, a pedestrian in front of me, the results could have been disastrous.I immediately drove it to the mechanic who has serviced it for all these years but could not demonstrate the problem so they could not offer a fix. I called the Mazda dealer and he assured me there are no recalls for this unit. I have searched the Internet and found many descriptions of sudden unintended acceleration, but none for a Mazda B4000. I love this truck and had planned to keep it for years to come. Now I am afraid to drive it. Any suggestions?

I called my dealer at Lodi N.J. where I bought the car for advice and Rahsheed told me to call Mazda roadside assistance and I did. Spoke with a Mazda roadside assistant and told her what was going on with my car and she told me a flatbed tow truck will be at my location within a hour. One hour later comes the flatbed tow truck and I asked the driver if I could ride along and so I did. We get to Koeppel Mazda Queens NY. I tell the tow truck driver that I am going inside to let the manager know that we are dropping off my car. The manager Andrew ** steps outside with me and as the tow truck is backing up and bringing my new car down it scrapes and damaged my new Thule bike rack. Andrew the manager tells him to stop what he was doing and that the car needs to be lowered on the street. At this point the driver is getting frustrated and levels his flatbed truck in which he forgets to put the rear straps and chain hooks on the rear of my NEW CAR and also forgets to put my NEW Cx-5 off off of neutral and failed to put it in park and Failed to deploy the emergency parking brakes on my car. He then drives forwards, fast and slamming on his brakes causing my Brand New (Mazda CX-5 GT with Tech package) to shoot forwards and crashing into the back of his tow truck causing front end damage. Three Mazda certified workers seen the accident including the service department. Manager Andrew ** and I were all in shock on what just happened. Andrew and I took photos of the damaged SUV and Andrew told me that he would take care of the report. I advised Andrew that I don want my car back due to the loss of my resale value caused by Mazda. On 8/14/2015 I stopped by the repair shop that was fixing my car to get some things I left in the car. To my horror my car was in the back of the shop dirty with my whole SUV front end sitting on top of my cars roof, not to mention both my front windows was rolled down getting dust and dirt all over the place and not to mention there goes my new car smell and the body shop wasnt even certified Mazda repair shop. I know that when a new car rolls off the assembly line everything is calibrated, the transducer in the front of my Mazda emblem with the laser on my windshield work hand in hand so that my auto brake assist work properly. Now my new car will have a damage report on carfax that I did not cause, all Mazdas fault. Why did my new car did not want to start in the first place? It was only two months old with just 2000 miles on it. Mazda Roadside assistance contracted the tow truck company NYC Tire Auto Care Inc. The incident happened in front of multiple employees of Mazda (Manager: Andrew ** (Service department associate: Izzy ** and two others from Parts Department that will vouch what happened. I will now lose thousands of dollars on my trade in when I decide to trade inmy 2016 CX-5. I stated that I dont want my car back to every Mazda personnel I spoke with due to the fact that it was Mazdas fault. I just want a brand new CX-5 with everything I put in but sadly I am getting the runaround. Even my insurance company called in my behalf and they also getting the runaround.

Every brand seems to have issues and I just wanted to share my experiences with the Miata. I bought the car new in December 2006 and have been the sole driver since. It now has 110,000 miles and still going strong. The only mechanical repair I have had was needing to replace the thermostat around 80,000 miles. I just now had to get new brakes for the first time. The paint still looks brand new and I am constantly being asked if it is a new car. The only thing that has not held up well is the cloth upholstery on the drivers front seat but the aftermarket leather seat covers look fabulous. I LOVE THIS CAR! I have loved it since I drove off the dealership lot. I lament having to part with it for a larger car that is better in the snow and after reading the reviews, I am even more hesitant to replace it. If you are considering a Miata from the 2006-2015 generation, I can highly recommend one.

However, I dislike the clips that secure parts to my vehicle, and they break very easily. The oil pan fell off a few months after purchase and some of the interior clip ons broke as well.

I didnt need the navigation until about 2 weeks after I purchased it. When I did need it a map of San Antonio river walk kept showing up and I live in Virginia. The clock also does not work or set the time to eastern time. I took it back to the dealership but the service department does not know what is wrong with it and suggested they are going to have to tear it all apart to find the antenna. I am so mad, its beyond words. How can they sell an almost $40,000 car and say it has these features and it has none of it working.

However, my car has had several recalls, one of which came after I had already had and paid for the repair. That is where I have my problem with Mazda. The recall stated it takes 6-8 weeks to process a claim on repairs that have been recalled, o.k., I get it. I sent my recall reimbursement form and supporting documents registered mail, which was a smart move on my part, because they first tried to claim that they did not receive my recall repayment request. I told them that a representative had signed for the registered mail 4 days after I sent it. So they requested. I fax the form and supporting documents. I waited approximately 4 weeks to see what the status on my refund was. Mazda Recall Center told me they cant send a check because the repair was made with a credit payment (it was a debit card that was used for the payment on an account I had already closed). So they told me after a week later, when I called again, that they would have to get an approval to send a check. I waited 2 more weeks, called and was told that the check should be on the way 2-3 weeks. I waited 3 weeks to call back, and have now been told that it will take another 2-3 weeks to get the reimbursement. I feel as the Mazda is Hemming and Hawing with this issue for whatever reason and would like to know if anyone else has been having this type of issue with Mazda.

The dealer said that he had never heard this complaint for this model but did list a number of other models where the AC drain was clogged and required unclogging. Fine. This should not be happening. It will cost their hourly rate to diagnose the problem. Sounds like a design issue. On the drivers side there has also been a leak that occurs after a big rain. The water is puddled on the mat. The passenger side trickles down and under the mat. Any feedback would be helpful.

The original Bridgestone Duelers lasted 29k, and yes, proper inflation and rotation, and alignment. Subsequent sets met with only marginal improvement. Went with Perreli Scorpions, and Yokohamas. At 99k, last week, I foolishly purchased a new set of Michelins (60k warranty). My plan was to drive this thing until those tires were shot, and call it a day. Mind you, Ive met or exceeded all service schedules, to include flushing the tranny last spring. Heres a short list of the problems with the cx-9: Drivers door seal leaks creating excessive noise in cabin. AC controls are intermittent between front and rear compartment. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. Power doors refuse to lock as the indicator light states I have a door open. Both keyfobs failed, and dealer wanted in excess of 300 to replace and reprogram. I opted with using the hard key, but had to have that programmed. Passenger door window wont go all the way down. Dealer had two attempts to fix that, and its doing it again. Now for the biggies: 60K Pass side rear wheel bearing went, $500.00. Then, Huge clunking noises coming from somewhere in front end suspension. I replaced tie rod ends, and stabilizers with greasable Moog fittings. Still have the clunk noise. Learned this was due to failed lower ball joints on the control arm. I was heartened to hear that a recall was pending and made the appointment with the dealer after my tire installer confirmed my suspicion. Within one week of putting the tires on and Within days of scheduling my ball joint/control arm repair, my wife pulls up the driveway and the sound coming from the drive-train was like she was dragging a washing machine behind the car. I will limp it into the dealer tomorrow a.m. to find that at minimum, I will need a new transfer case. This is completely unacceptable! If you take care of your vehicle, as I have, this stuff should not happen! I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER MAZDA.... and shame on you Ford Motor Co for supplying the POS parts on this vehicle without proper vetting.

We select a model, which has 13 miles on it - and though others (Venza, Infinity) were her chief desire, she believes that the decision was a good, more economical one. We (she) purchases the vehicle July 4th, 2011.One month in, the front driver tire blows out on the 55 freeway in Costa Mesa. The car is driven to the dealer the next day - to have a tire placed on. The price was surely surprise surprise - $250.00. We push to know why the tire was so expensive, its because the size is new for this size vehicle and theres one maker of the tire. Bridgestone. We pay for it begrudgingly, and go about our way.Fast forward to February 6th, 2015, a shade over 3 years, 6 months of owning the vehicle. The vehicle history is good, maintenance is excellent (my wife is a therapist for children with autism so thats why vehicle choice was extremely important - traveling client to client in administering therapy sessions) and without warning, she cannot reverse. She can drive forward, yet is losing power when the automatic attempts to shift from 1st to 2nd gear, so it jumps from first to 3rd.We take the vehicle to Browning Mazda in Cerritos and we are advised that the transmission needs to be replaced (3,200). 3 years 6 months 64,262 miles, excellent maintenance history, & this vehicle needs a NEW transmission? This felt like a terrible joke. The power train warranty? 3y/60k. Expired just over 4,000 miles ago. If theres an engine issue, we usually receive a warning (ie - check engine light flashes on when the oil hits around 3,500) - yet for a failed transmission the vehicle took a dump without warning.We contact Mazda (corporate) & are advised later in the day that they would pay half of the ticketed amount. Thats still egregious as there wouldnt be a vehicle sold if most buyers knew that at such ridiculous low mileage, the transmission would fail them. We retrieve the vehicle and have it looked at for two more opinions and apparently there are no codes indicating the transmission is bad, not to mention the fact the transmission itself is indicating itself being bad simply by the test drive.One transmission mechanic wanted to advise us that Mazda contains many Ford parts, including the transmission and the parts itself. He opens a book, shows a Ford Escape transmission cover (as an example to start) & shows the transmission cover for a Mazda Cx7. Same shape. Same size. Same diameter. The only difference was the material each was made out of. He also advised us that Ford held a controlling stake in Mazda for a very long time and that Mazda in engine make up is similar to many Ford vehicles.Im thankful for such insight as now, my wife, shes back to square one. We will just take it on the chin, pay the dealer, trade it in and get into the vehicle she wanted to originally (Toyota Venza) as it has a powertrain of 7y/100k, and we have another blank check and a few we are willing to pay more of a premium for now as opposed to settling (which appears now, that we did).My advice, if you could help it remain in a Toyota (I drive a Lexus and plan to remain with Toyota) or Honda (my wife bought a Civic new in 2001, drove it to 2011 without issue, netting 170k miles before selling to a UCI college student, then purchasing this Mazda vehicle). If my story helps you even a little bit, I am definitely thankful. This experience feels completely underhanded and we feel hoodwinked.

The original dealership changed ownership twice in the three years, so I brought the car to another dealership for repairs and dealt with Mazda corporate for reimbursement. The dealership that did the repairs agreed it was faulty drivetrain parts, but told me Mazda corporate said it was out of warranty.After repeated attempts to contact the customer experience center both by phone and email, over several months, I could never get past their first line of customer service to make my case to anyone with any authority to review my case. On several occasions they indicated they would get back to me, but never did. I would recommend against buying a new or preowned Mazda. They do not stand behind their product as evidenced by the initial faulty drivetrain and lack of customer support.- Steve
