2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5

The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a sleek and well-rounded electric crossover designed to blend retro-modern styling with functional everyday use and cutting-edge EV tech.

Available in two battery options, it offers a 58 kWh Standard Range pack or a 77.4 kWh Long Range pack in both rear-wheel drive and the optional dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration. The rear-drive Long Range model delivers roughly 303 horsepower and around 303 lb-ft of torque, with an estimated EPA range of about 310 miles. AWD variants provide around 320 horsepower and closer to 270 miles of range, depending on wheel size and trim.

Fast charging supports up to 220 kW via the 800‑volt architecture, enabling a 10 – 80 percent charge in as little as 18 minutes; home charging on a Level 2 charger fills the battery overnight in roughly 7 to 9 hours.

Interior space is generously laid out. The flat-floor cabin with sliding rear seats and a movable center console provides exceptional flexibility. Cargo capacity spans from about 27 cu ft behind the rear seats to about 59 cu ft with those seats folded. Front seat passengers enjoy roughly 45 inches of legroom and rear passengers see around 42 inches.

Tech is robust and user-friendly. A dual-screen setup includes a 12.3‑inch floating infotainment display and a 12.3‑inch digital gauge cluster. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 5G hotspot, ambient lighting, over‑the‑air software updates, and a solar-charged roof option (which adds a small daily boost to range) are available on higher trims. The cabin features sustainable materials such as vegan leather and recycled trim surfaces.

Driving experience is engaging. The steering feels precise, braking is strong and confidence-inspiring thanks to regenerative modes, and ride quality is smooth and compliant even with available 20-inch wheels. Driving modes include Eco, Normal, Sport, and Snow, plus Smart mode that dynamically adjusts throttle and regen based on usage patterns.

Safety and driver assistance are comprehensive across trims and include forward collision mitigation, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise with stop-and-go support, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, and available Highway Driving Assist for semi-autonomous highway driving in select markets.

Trim levels typically include SE, SEL, Limited, and Limited AWD, with higher trims offering premium touches like leather upholstery, ventilated seats, Bose audio, tow hitch package, and a head-up display. Pricing starts around US $43,000 for the base RWD model and climbs near US $60,000 for top-tier AWD variants with full feature content.

User feedback praises the Ioniq 5 for its roomy layout, intuitive tech, spirited electric performance, and fast charging capability. Some note that cabin noise at highway speeds can be slightly higher than expected and that rear visibility is modest behind the sloping hatch design.

Overall, the 2025 Ioniq 5 remains a standout among EV crossovers with its mix of retro-futuristic design, practical space, strong driving range, and forward-thinking features. Let me know if you’d like Canadian specs, trim comparisons, or notes on towing or winter range.

My wife hit a concrete light pole base. The body damage was about 2500 dollars but the air bag light came on and white powder was in the car which meant the airbag went off but did not deploy the bag. The insurance company said, You need an airbag and any parts needed to repair it right even though it did not deploy to help stop my wife from moving forward. The car is a 2004 Sonata GLS with 66,000 miles on it as of July 5, 2014 the day of the accident. Hyundai said it is out of warranty but I said this is a device that will only work during an accident. They basically said too bad. The cost was over $3000.00 to replace the bag, seat belt and all the bells and whistles that make the bag NOT DEPLOY. The car is a total loss because of the air bag cost and why would I want to install a new bag that may or may not deploy. Hyundai recalled other year air bags like 2003 and 2006 but my 2004 is not included yet I have read many complaints of non--deploying. Do not trust air bags as a safety item and it doesnt matter what car. Use the seat belt and pray, lol. My car is a total loss but a friend wants to buy it as it has 66,000 miles on it and I am anal when it comes to doing everything the dealer wants you to do and when to do it. I will not buy another Hyundai but I do wish it would have made the recall list so if you have this problem report it to NTSD (NATIONAL TRANS SAFETY PLACE NOT SURE OF THE ACRONYM). Thats all folks. Trust no one.

I was in a no-fault accident February 25 2019. I had a small little crack on the driver side of the vehicle which triggered the airbag light to stay on in my vehicle reminder the airbags did not deploy. After waiting two months for the body collision to do the basic repairs my vehicle was sent to two Hyundai dealerships and neither dealership can figure out why the airbag light was still on. I called Hyundai corporate office. They put a hold on my vehicle for two weeks. They didn’t offer a loaner vehicle or a rental for the hassle and stress I been through and just told me to have the service center work on the vehicle. After being there for a month they did not reimburse me and I have a son with a disability and they did not make anything urgent or help my situation. The claim case was missed handled. My son been out of school for two months. Very disappointing!

We have 105633 miles on the 2006 Hyundai Tucson that failed (engine overheated) in the middle of highway when my family with two small children were traveling. No warning and it was an abrupt stop. Called 911 and emergency responders pushed the car to the side. We towed to a dealer who said head gasket is blown and only fix is to replace engine. To further diagnose, the dealer needs approval from Hyundai but, Hyundai says, they will not do further diagnosis because their warranty covers only up-to 5 year and the vehicle can fail after 5 years. They insist there has not been any manufacturer recalls but, I asked them how do they know if there is no recalls if they dont diagnose? Their response was even worse than the ordeal we have gone through. We were almost killed driving this vehicle. Never buy a Hyundai that can only last for 5 years and get killed.

My 2013 Hyundai Veloster engine went bad for the 2nd time after six years.
My 2013 Hyundai Veloster engine went bad for the 2nd time after six years. The 1st time it was under warranty and it was replaced in five weeks and I received a rental vehicle paid by Hyundai. The 2nd engine failed two years after it was replaced and after a recall was completed at the dealership to correct an ignition issue that could damage the engine. It took ten weeks to replace the engine and I did not receive a rental or loaner car. Hyundai did replace the engine out of warranty but it is obvious that they know they have issues with this engine. Who has two engines go bad in six years? I picked up my car from the service department on a Friday and traded it in on a VW Saturday morning. I will never own a Hyundai ever again!

I purchased a 2012 Sonata (loaner car), absolutely love the vehicle. I took it in for 1st oil change and they advised the tires needed to be rotated, returned to work and was notified by co-worker that they had noticed a bubble in the front passenger tire that morning. I went outside to take a look and sure enough, the front passenger tire had bubble (since tires had been rotated approx. 30 minutes earlier). I called the dealership and was told tires were not covered under warranty. I explained that I had just had the tires rotated and no one in the service dept even acknowledged the bubble. I feel very unsafe driving this vehicle at this point and do not think that I should have to spend money on a tire that was obviously damaged when I bought the vehicle. I have called the dealership service manager numerous times as well as the general manager and have even emailed the gm about 8 times and no response from any of them. I called Hyundai customer support thinking that would help. I was just notified by them that the reason the dealership didnt call me back was because I gave a different name than what the vehicle was purchased under and they could find no records. I guess a phone call to me to ask more questions was asking too much. I have zero confidence in that dealership or the customer support team. Obviously, once they get your money, you as a person does not matter to that dealership. Oh, and might I add this is my 4th Hyundai to buy. You would think a repeat customer would mean something. I can guarantee I will never do business with Texan Hyundai in Rosenberg, Texas again.

Got a lemon. 4/26/19 bought a Tucson. Less than 1 week it had to be towed in due to an antifreeze leak. The horn coil insulation was falling off. They fixed the leak but not the coil problem. Then another week passed and the vehicle would not exceed 40 miles per hour. The vehicle was towed in yet again. It has been in the shop over a week now. No one has given me an answer or solution. The paperwork has not been fully processed yet either. I received a renewal from motor vehicle for my old vehicle that I traded in. I received an email from my credit report stating my debt to income ratio was very poor because the new vehicle was added but the old one was not removed. Which means it was not paid off yet. I also received a letter from the credit union about the old vehicle needing extra coverage. I no longer have this vehicle and yet due to lack of submitted paperwork am being hassled.I contacted Hyundai corporation and filed a claim. They were supposed to contact me this week and the week is over and I have heard nothing from anyone. Please save yourself a huge headache and buy a different vehicle. I guess the only way to resolve this is with a lawyer. Sad world we live in. No one seems to care about the consumer.

My wife brought our 2008 Hyundai Sonata to the dealer for the annual vehicle State inspection on Monday, January 30, 2012. We purchased this vehicle new at this dealer, and it now has only 30,000 miles. The vehicle failed the inspection due to defective brake lining (brake pads) on both the left and right rear brakes. My inspection, the following day, confirmed that indeed the rear brake pads were almost non-existent while the front pads showed hardly any wear.I have owned many cars in my lifetime and put over 100K miles on many. I have only replaced brakes four times in all these years, but I never on a vehicle with only 30,000 miles. Suspecting a manufacturers defect, I searched the internet for other complaints about the Hyundai rear brakes and found numerous forums on the subject, leading me to agree with the conclusions of others that this is a manufacturers defect and a recall should be issued. I found 29 similar complaints on NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation. To my knowledge, Hyundai is ignoring this obvious safety issue as well as the cost to consumers for repairs that should be unnecessary for low-mileage cars such as ours.I am hoping enough pressure can be brought to bear on Hyundai to issue a recall. I have filed a complaint with NHTSA-ODI, contacted our State Attorney Generals Office, and complained to Hyundais consumer support department.

This is typical for dealerships but theyre not long for this country. I have a senior citizens vehicle in my shop with a faulty block that was faulty from the manufacturer. I attempted simply to very parts through Hyundai and they said, You have to prepay in order to get the parts and two days later they might have the parts in the dealership. The parts for example are pistons, which with the dealership are $90.00 each for a grand total of $400 and change after taxes and other frivolous charges. The exact sane parts coming from Thailand at another place is $90 out the door, including shipping AND you receive at your door the very next day. These people are greedy and worthless. Their products stink! Their service sinks! Their greed is obvious! AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!

I bought a 2016 Rally Edition Veloster, I have had nothing but problems with it. I have already had to take it into a body shop to get the paint fixed twice and I am looking at more work now. I was told by the body shop that it’s not the issue with my paint but the metal underneath being defective. They gave me an estimate of approx $3000 to get this work fixed. Now no one from Hyundai or the dealership wants to help me out. I keep getting the same answer. Very disappointed since this isn’t my first Hyundai. It’s my 5th. So now I have a 2 year old car that is rusting from one end to the other. Oh yeah, forgot to mention it just got towed into the garage for the second time in a year for breaking down.

Incident: vehicle (2016 Genesis 3.8 AWD) completely lost throttle power in the MIDDLE of a busy road. Fortunately no property or personal damage occurred. Car was towed and ALL rentals from local dealers were out secondary to Sonata recalls. Defects were found to be throttle body and actuator. Reason for the complaint: 1. Vehicle was purchased brand new, less than 40K and 3 year old vehicle shouldnt have such a defect. 2. Since all local rentals are out, Hyundai/Genesis did not take the initiatives to offer customer with an alternatives and follow ups are very slow and ineffective. Hence the complaint, and shame on their boast of 100,000 warranty guarantee.

We have had the 2014 Elantra a year which we bought directly from Woodland Hills Hyundai dealer. It wasnt cheap, as with the extended warranty of 100,000 miles it came to $24,000. We were never told the car did not come with a spare tire. We spent the evening of fathers day being towed back to the dealer and missing our plans because we got a flat tire. The response I was given as its like this in all the cars now. I know that isnt true, because we also bought a Toyota and Nissan which have spare tires. For a company that prides itself on safety, not having a spare or informing the purchase that there is no spare, is not ok!!! The car drives fine, but this to me reflects very poor customer service.

First and last Hyundai. I came from a Toyota family, but Id heard about the progress Hyundai was making, so I purchased a brand new Hyundai Sonata (23 miles on it) in April of 2014. Fast forward to last week (March 2016) my wife experienced engine trouble with it. No check engine light or anything. But no problem, they have a 10yr/100,000 mile warranty on it, right?? WRONG! I took it in to get the engine fixed and they denied my request. They stated that based on what they saw, I didnt maintain the vehicle. Not once did they ask for my service records! (I had my car serviced more than the recommended amount...) I come to find out theres a class-action lawsuit for this very issue. They refuse to honor their warranty EVEN AFTER I provided proof of maintenance! This car was not even 2 years old yet. How frustrating. Be sure and avoid these guys. Theyre crooked. Never giving them another cent. Ill go back to Toyota.

If you are reading this - please do not finance with Hyundai Motor Finance. A year ago, I am leasing a Hyundai Elantra 2013 and the car was a total loss. So my insurance call HMF for the selling amount so they can pay the car off. That was on May 27, 2014. Today is Jun 27, 2014, a month later. My insurance call them so many times and send them the information about the loss four times and HMF still saying every time when I call then that they not received anything. I told them I want to speak with a supervisor and they say that they do not have a supervisor available and they just hang up on me so many times. This company is a joke and have very bad customer service especially in the recovery or claim department. Today is Jun 24, 2014 and they still not giving the selling amount to my insurance. This company is so disrespectful. I will never buy a Hyundai again.

My sister bought two cars. One for her and one for her son. The second day he was stranded on the highway because the engine seized. They went back to the dealer and wanted to return the car and get a new one since this was a major issue for brand new car. They would not do that but also could not fix it so he was without a car for two months until they filed for the lemon law. The dealer was rude to them like this was their fault. They called Hyundai and they would not do anything either. All they wanted was what they bought two cars not one. A work associate of my husbands who also bought a Hyundai from the same dealer had similar issues but it took a year for the engine to finally seize. He had taken the car to the dealer several times about the engine but they never fixed it or admitted there was a problem. There was a recall for 2011-2012 Hyundai’s for engine issues and seems like they have the same issue with 2018 models.

I purchased a 2019 Hyundai Tucson Ultimate about two weeks ago. The first week I had it I noticed when it was in the sun the back bumper and lift gate had these 3D swirls in the Black Noir Pearl paint. The dealership had the car redone with Zurche but still had the same issue. I took it back to the dealer and they had someone buff the entire car. This made the situation worse as the marks were still in the paint and he did a poor job detailing the car. I took the car home and spent 3 hours detailing the car myself to fix the issue from the detailer. Regardless to say the marks are still there. My wife noticed today that I have a big scratch under the spoiler. The dealership was going to allow me to pick another car, but they did not have any and it had to be today. So to make a long story short I wish they would just take the car from me like I never bought it. Very dissatisfied customer for a car that is only 2 weeks old when it was valued at 35 thousand dollars.

Engine fails to start: I leased my 2014 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid on Sept. 2014 and it has been in the shop 12 times in last year and half. When trying to start, all console warnings beep, the interior and exterior lights flash off and on and the brake pedal goes up and down on its own. You cannot stop it and it continues until it drains the battery. I have complied with everything the service department have told me to do from jumping it and bringing it to them, having tow truck bring it in, turning off lights, radio, and a/c before turning it off but the problem continues and the service techs can find no problem. They provided a loaner twice but am now being told as it sits in shop this time that Hyundai will not pay any more for a loaner.I opened a case in Dec and was told if problem continued to call. I called again when problem occurred but was told I needed to open a new case. So here I go again. The manager offered the dealer I purchased it from will not return my call and the first case manager will not return my call and the service tech does not know what to do with it. Im at wits end. I just want out of my lease with no fees or early termination charges and walk away from this nightmare. I have owned 3 other Hyundais and always praised Hyundais but no longer. I will not be purchasing another Hyundai and I would dissuade anyone I know from buying from this company. I am learning they do not stand behind their products.

WHY I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER HYUNDAI / KIA. (With sincere apologies to anyone I ever influenced into purchasing one). The primary reason I will never own another Hyundai or Kia, or recommend anyone else ever own one, is that they, in spite of their supposed great quality, are inferior products!! Please understand that I do NOT consider this the fault of the dealerships or dealership service departments with whom I have interacted; they have all been very professional, competent, and friendly. This comes down to the fact that the basic cars are junk from the factory and overall quality of the manufacturing is extremely deficient. To wit:I purchased my first Hyundai Sonata, a 2006 with a V-6 engine, in August 2006. It had ten miles on the odometer primarily because I took it for a 2 mile test drive before I bought it. I loved the ride, handling, and everything about the car. When I bought the car, fortunately I negotiated a 100,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty as part of the purchase. In addition, I purchased the 5-year hard-simonizing that also treated the interior fabric. I was planning on driving the car for many years and have regularly maintained it with that in mind.I very carefully broke-in the engine according to the recommendations in the owners manual driving it at a certain rpm for so many miles, etc. It now has just over 117,000 miles. Much of my driving during that time has been highway driving. I have faithfully changed the oil and filters every 5,000 miles. I flushed the engine coolant as recommended as well as had the transmission serviced as recommended. Most of this has been performed by the local Hyundai dealership or by one in Dayton when the Richmond, IN dealer from whom I originally purchased the car went out of business. I have the receipts to prove my ongoing care of the car. Each time I had the car serviced, the dealer did a multi-point inspection of the vehicle and reported all known issues to me. For the first year or so, I was very happy with the car, and recommended Hyundais to others. (As noted, for that I now apologize to them.)Following are the primary issues that I have had with my 2006 Hyundai: 20,500 miles, 11 months after purchase, left front door armrest had to be replaced because the first one cracked, making a popping noise (warranty replacement). 25,500 miles, 1 year 2 months after purchase, noted that A/C system does not seem to be putting out cold air properly, an ongoing problem that has never been resolved to my satisfaction. Dealer continues to claim that system checks out properly; air in this Sonata is not as cool or does not cool as quickly as the second Sonata described below. 25,500 miles, left front door trim backing must be replaced because it is cracked which continued to cause the popping noise described above (warranty replacement). 33,700 miles, 1 year 10 months after purchase, I complained that at times the drivers side window had a scraping noise as it went up and down. (No resolution at this time.)55,400 miles, 3+ years after purchase, both drivers side front seat switch and power mirror switch were inoperable and had to be replaced. (warranty replacement). 61,600 miles, 4 years 1 month after purchase, coil assembly on engine cylinder 1 had to be replaced (warranty replacement). 63,900 miles, 4 years 2 months after purchase, coil assembly on engine cylinders 3 and 5 had to be replaced (warranty replacement). 78,000 miles, 5 years 4 months after purchase, power steering system dampner fell apart and had to be completely replaced (warranty replacement). 82,500 miles, 5 years 8 months after purchase, A/C compressor had to be replaced. In addition, the drivers side window (complained about earlier but not repaired at that time) RF regulator had to be replaced because now not only was there a scraping noise when the window was lowered but also the window would not come back up without help. It was also determined that my headlights were noticeably dimming because the positive cable assembly needed to be replaced but that was expensive and would not be covered under warranty since it was not broken or had not caused the lights to stop working. (Warranty replacement on A/C compressor and window RF regulator; headlights continue to this day to dim noticeably when engine slows down).87,000 miles, 6 years after purchase, replaced drivers side rear door latch and actuator assembly because auto door lock stopped working (warranty replacement). 101,000 miles, 7 years after purchase, and just beyond the warranty period, the alternator had to be replaced (out of pocket expense). Headlights still dim noticeably when the engine slows down.116,500 miles, the engine temperature and interior heater started acting up in a strange way. At first I thought it was a failed engine thermostat which is kind of how it was acting. So I replaced the thermostat. (Even the dealer mechanic later agreed that is the first thing he would have replaced.) In removing the housing that contained the thermostat, one of the three bolts broke off completely just as I was beginning to put torque on the head. This is supposedly a grade-8 bolt. I doubt it! I have never had a thermostat cover bolt break off in over 50 years of driving and working on cars and I have changed a few thermostats in that time. So what should have been a 30 minute job took half-a-day to remove the broken bolt which then required removing more of the hoses than would have otherwise been needed in order to access the broken bolt. Thank goodness it broke off such that I was able to remove it with vice-grips and thus did not have to drill it out to use an EZ-Out, which would have required a lot more time.117,000 miles, the Hyundai is now at the dealer. The dealer mechanic found the reason why the heating system on my Hyundai with the V-6 engine with only 117,000 miles was acting strangely. It had two warped heads. The dealer has no explanation for the problem. The engine had to be replaced. I was unable to purchase a re-manufactured engine, much less a new engine, because Hyundai stopped manufacturing or stocking needed replacement engine parts over a year ago, thus the necessary parts to properly re-manufacture an engine, much less purchase a new engine, are no longer available. Therefore the only solutions were to replace the heads and hope that the current engine block was not damaged, or install a used engine from a salvage yard. The local Hyundai dealer (Wetzel Hyundai in Richmond, IN) has just finished installing a used engine with 78,000 miles on it, 1 year, 12,000 mile warranty. Out of pocket cost - $4,300 with a $200 coupon or it would have been $4500. If you wish to consider the above repairs routine maintenance that is your choice. I do not. I consider it poor manufacturing quality for which I never plan to own another Hyundai or Kia. If you are not convinced by the above related experiences, read on.During the first year of ownership, I loved everything about my 2006 Hyundai Sonata, so much so that I made the mistake of buying a 2007 Sonata for my wife, to replace the 1997 Plymouth Breeze with over 230,000 miles she was driving. I purchased the 2007 Sonata used. It had been owned by one of the salesmen at the dealership whose wife drove it from Richmond to Indianapolis and back each work day. She got pregnant and wanted an SUV by the time the baby arrived, so the salesman was selling the car as part of a trade-in with the dealer for whom he worked at the time. The 2007 has a 2.0 Liter 4 cylinder engine; I purchased the car with 7,275 miles on it. While I did have it hard-simonized with the additional interior protection, I did not purchase an additional warranty I just went with the standard Hyundai warranty of 60,000 miles/7 year bumper-to-bumper and 100,000 miles/10 year power train. When it was still new, everything worked fine. It now has 84,560 miles on it. Just like the 2006 Sonata above, I have had one dealer or the other perform all of the recommended maintenance on the vehicle on a timely basis. I have all of the maintenance invoices to prove it for both cars. In addition, I washed them, or had them washed, somewhat regularly. I took them through the car wash on a regular basis, particularly in the winter after a snowstorm, and always added the underbody wash as well, to wash off the road salt to some degree.Below is a listing of all the things that have gone wrong with that car one continuous stream of ridiculous failures after another due to poor manufacturing quality:24,500 miles, 2 years 2 months after purchase, power seat control switch had to be replaced because of a short in the switch (warranty replacement). 24,500 miles, 2 years 2 months after purchase the rear brake caliper on the passenger side seized, causing me to have to replace the caliper and rotor as well as brake pads on that wheel. No warranty considered normal wear and tear. 29,000 miles, 2 years 6 months after purchase, mirror switch had to be replaced because short in switch caused both mirrors to adjust intermittently (warranty replacement). 35,000 miles, 3 years after purchase, en route to North Carolina in August, the A/C stopped working. A/C compressor totally locked up and had to be replaced (Johnson Hyundai of Cary, NC treated us very well) (warranty replacement).46,600 miles, 4 years after purchase, mirror switch had to be replaced again because of a short in the switch causing the powered mirrors to be totally inoperable (warranty replacement). 68,000 miles, 5 years after purchase, door hanger handle on front passenger side broke off and had to be replaced. (Parts - $30, self-replaced). 70,700 miles, 6 years 4 months after purchase, engine oil pan rusted out and had to be replaced. This was not under warranty; considered to be routine maintenance. (In over 50 years of driving including several cars for over 200,000 miles, I have never, ever had to replace an engine oil pan before.)73,800 miles, 6 years 7 months after purchase, the transmission pan rusted out and had to be replaced. This was also not under warranty; considered to be routine maintenance. (Again I say, in over 50 years of driving, several cars for over 200,000 miles, I have never, ever had to replace a transmission oil pan before. Remember, too, that in winter I regularly run the cars through the car wash to include the underbody wash to get off the road salt and grime underneath the car.) I wrote to Hyundai corporate about the two pans rusting out; the only response I received was a email reply that essentially said, We are sorry you are unhappy with our product. In addition to the specific instances at certain dates and mileages noted above, there are other problems with the 2007 Sonata listed below for which I do not have a corresponding date or mileage but which are ongoing issues: Power mirrors continue to be problematic; no one seems to be able to fix them properly. Now out of warranty so are now essentially manual adjust set and do not touch! Seek function on the radio does not work on AM and only marginally on FM. A little annoying when traveling and attempting to find radio stations en route. Neither sun visor stays in place; currently being held up by bungee cords wrapped around the sun visors and the door hanger handles so that they do not inadvertently drop down into the drivers vision. Because of the embedded courtesy lights in the visors, dealer replacement for each one is in the hundreds of dollars. First the drivers side broke and then a few months later the passenger side malfunctioned. The powered door lock on the passengers side rear door works only intermittently not tied to weather or temperature or any such phenomenon. Half the time it works and the other half it does not. Recently, the drivers side front door has begun to act up on occasion and fails to lock. For over a year now, the cruise control set button typically requires that it be pushed several times before it will engage. I must assume that one of these days it will stop working and I will no longer have cruise control without another expensive replacement/repair.Recently, when replacing the front brake pads and rotors, one of the bolts holding the bracket that holds the caliper in position was extremely difficult to remove. It turns out the bolt was somewhat cross-threaded. Since these rotors had never been replaced until now, it means that the bolt was cross-threaded at the factory during initial installation. My guess is that I will have to soon replace the caliper on that side as it did not easily compress during the repair. I simply do not have the extra money or time needed to fix the ongoing problems, so my wife (especially) will just have to put up with the inconveniences for who knows how long.Brakes: I have had to replace brake pads, and rotors on occasion, much more frequently than I think should be the case. However, I blame that more on our intrusive government controlling our lives in order to protect us from ourselves than on Hyundai. Under the old system of asbestos brake pads, I routinely got 60,000 miles or more out of a set of brake pads (as well as a set of tires). With the Sonatas, I am lucky to get 40,000 miles usually more like 30,000 miles out of a set of brake pads. The only complaint I have with respect to Hyundai is that rotors, when needed to be replaced which also seems to be more frequent than should be the case seem to cost twice as much (from one of the local auto parts stores) than rotors for other brands of automobiles with some notable exceptions. Also, of late, I have begun to have additional incidences of the brake caliper pistons beginning to stick and freeze up meaning I will soon be replacing brake caliper assemblies.I will tell you that I emailed this letter to Hyundai Customer Care and told them that I would give them a week to respond before I sent it to everyone on my email lists and published it as widely as possible over the internet. Customer care did call me a few days later. All they could offer was a case number that indicated that this would be routed to the appropriate offices for consideration on future models. They offered no assistance regarding any of my issues with my Hyundais nor was there any hint of doing so in the future. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why they wasted my time and theirs with a phone call. Basically they called to inform me of the case number which is useless since they have no intention of doing anything. The lady who called me obviously had no authority or power to do anything. When I suggested that she put me through to the President of the company, she told me that there was no phone number for the corporate office although I was welcome to contact them by mail. According to her, not even Hyundai Customer Service has a number for the corporate offices in California. A couple of weeks later, another Customer Care Representative, Brian, called me. Again, it was a waste of both of our times. He did offer to send me some discount coupons for the needed repairs on the 2007 sun visors. I guess since that did not satisfy me and I plan to broadcast this letter as far and wide as possible, I never received any discount coupons.Once again, (as stated above with respect to the oil and transmission pans on the 2007 Hyundai) their primary response was, I am sorry you are unhappy with our product. In essence, their response is, We really dont care about our customers, we just try to make them think we do! They evidently have learned what P.T. Barnum proclaimed many years ago, There is a sucker born every minute. What he was saying is that companies like Hyundai dont need to care about customers like me because there are plenty more where I came from. I just hope you are not one of them like I was. My bottom line is DO NOT BUY A HYUNDAI!!! THE QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCT, LIKE THEIR CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE, IS PATHETIC AT BEST AND ESSENTIALLY NON-EXISTENT. LET THE BUYER BEWARE!!!Please feel free to forward this to anyone and everyone you know so they too can be forewarned before it is too late for them unless you are trying to get even with someone for what he or she did to you.

Ive procured an IX35 approx. a month ago from the Hyundai branch in Umhlanga, Durban, before I took delivery, there was a number of issues with the vehicle. The salesman promised that all issues relating to damaged drivers seat, back tail light, no door clips, etc. will be attended to. We agreed in writing that they will be resolved within 3 days. This never materialized. My numerous attempts to the dealership was ignored. I am also awaiting the registration of the vehicle which is also currently not done. I am at my wits trying to explain myself to the Sales manager and the salesman. The recent recommendation from the Sales Manager in writing that I must return the vehicle. I am comfortable with this and I kept asking for the last week now, when the deposit of 90 thousand rands will be refunded and the vehicle returned. I now hear today from the Sales manager that he will attempt to resolve the issues. I am now extremely frustrated and require that this matter receives urgent attention.

I have a santa fe sport and sonata purchased within 1 year of each other. There have been several warranty issues on both cars. The company is horrible to deal with. MOst recently I called the company because of the issues I had with the dealership and they were no help because the dealerships are all independent, but the next closest dealership is over 1 hour away and you have to go to a dealer for warranty issues. When I spoke to their customer service about rental reimbursement for warranty issues, they said they do that, but dont guarantee (since it may not be a warranty issue and they dont know for sure until the car is fixed). I asked if there was a certain type of car I needed to rent and they said no and said it would be ok to get something similar to the car I own and that would be considered when issuing reimbursement. So I got a mid size SVU rental because I have a santa fe sport and then they would only reimburse about half of what I paid. If they would have been up front with me and said, the max we reimburse is $** then I would have tried to find a cheaper rental. So my warranty repair cost me over $200 in rental fees.

Lots of PEPS, cool styling, 5 star rated for survivability. What more could you ask. This is a 2017. My previous Tucson had over 224,000 miles when I traded in. I am 62. My older son is 62 1/2. My youngest so is 63. We all fit and ride comfortably. I live in Arizona and i actually get cold from the AC. Even when it is 115 degrees outside.

I have a 2007 Elantra. First, I had to replace the rack and onion at 75000 miles, which is highly unusual for a vehicle. Of course it was just 10k over mileage to be under the warranty. The certified Hyundai dealer told me this was the problem and I had it replaced but the steering still felt sloppy and I made them keep looking. When they finally looked at it they realized the bearings in the steering shaft were worn. They were going to charge me for this but I told them I just paid 1200 for a fix I may not have needed and the dealer did not charge. When I came in to pick up the car the dealer as Lee said they would cover it under the power train -- I still havent figured out how the steering column is covered and the rack was not. I also reported this to Consumer Affairs and they listened but didnt do anything to make it right. Now the car has 85,000 miles on it and it has stalled out when Im going slow or idling. Its happened about 4 times in 6 months and it is very dangerous because its so random. I hate my Hyundai and will never buy another one. Its a great warranty on a piece of junk.

My 2006 Hyundai Elantra gave out suddenly with no warning light/sign on my way from Atlanta, GA to Nashville, TN. The radiator had bursted, blowing out all the stored coolant, and caused some engine damage. The car have been lightly driven with only 34K mileage and engine was clearly under Hyundais 10-yr warranty. We had it towed 100 mileages to the nearest dealership. However, Hyundai corporate has flat out denied our engine warranty claim because the radiator was out of warranty and that we had done our maintenance at a local NTB instead of their dealership. In other words, their 10-yr warranty is just a big fat lie because their claimed defect component contains nothing but the engine itself, which almost never gives out at its own. It is unbelievable an engine could give out at such early mileage. They also broke a federal rule and denied my claim just because I had my service done at another service shop. The entire process was full of bad customer service. My family and I were constantly hang up on that we have to rotate the calling. Representatives were rude and apathetic toward our situation. This is honestly the worst company we had to deal with out of my life!

I purchased my 2016 Tucson on 1/18/2016. For the first few weeks it was a dream. It did not take it long til my car would not back out of my garage even though it was in reverse. I finally got it to move backwards after being in reverse for 15 minutes. I called the service department and they told me to bring it in and let them check it out. I did as I was asked and they said they had put it on the computer and there were no problems found. They had a service rep. drive it and it shifted just fine.Fast forward to 2/4/2016, I was sitting at a traffic light and when the light turned green, I gave the car gas and it just sat there. I was stuck for about 20 minutes before it started moving forward. (The people behind me were not nice.) When it did move forward, it just crept. Then it lunged forward almost making me hit the car in front of me. I once again took my car into the dealership and they gave me a rental so they could once again “check out my problem.” Once again, they could not make my car duplicate what it did with me. They said they had not heard of this problem before.I am handicapped and not able to drive myself very often. In the next four months, the same problem appeared when 4 other people were driving my car. I had to make 2 trips to the doctor in New Orleans and prayed that we would not have any trouble. Too much to ask!! Had the same problems in New Orleans. I have over 5,000 miles on my car of which are about 3,000 mine. The rest were put on with the Service Department driving it. I left my car again on 7/14/2016. Today is 7/31/2016 and they still have my car. I told them I did not want it back until it was fixed. They gave me a rental car that I can hardly get out of due to my disability. I am to pick up a SUV tomorrow. Corporate called me and asked me to explain to them what was happening and I did. This was on 7/20/2016 and they told me they would get back in touch with me within 3-4 working days. I have not heard from them. I have to have to make notes each month and have no car. BUYER BEWARE!!!

I bought brand new Sunday Tucson on February 3, 2018 in Keyes Hyundai Van Nuys. I drove about 2k miles when I started experiencing high noises, something like buzzing sound that was getting louder with accelerating. When first did the drive test, I was impressed how easy the car does drive, well it got worse when I started using it. Very unstable on highway, you can feel any crack on the surface you drive on, pretty loud inside. But getting to my issue, first I took it to check the tires, I was advised that it might be wheels bearing. Then took it to service, they have very odd hours and there is always empty there. They will not take you on Saturday for diagnostic either, so they did check my car and happened to be that the car transmission failed. Wow right after 2k, very unusual, anyways they got me loaner from Hertz and promised to get me the car in 3 days. I will be posting and blogging about this more. I feel I got lemon and more issues are going to happen. Very unsatisfied customer.

My engine gave out 12/15, its now 1/27 and its been at the dealership for over a month now. A week after the New Year, and after various calls and check ups, I finally got an answer that my warranty would be extended on the engine. The communication has not been the best at all. They offered me a rental but only in the city that the incident happened in which is 6 hours away from home. In addition, I exhausted over $1,000 on hotel/car repairs after the incident took place. I did my due diligence to submit all the info needed for my reimbursement as soon as I found out the engine was a Hyundai issue. I submitted at least 15 documents pertaining to my proof of ownership and explained that I was stranded in an unfamiliar town for two days due to my engine failing. Ive been more than patient and am still without my vehicle, which is somewhat understanding because repairs and ordering parts take time...the funds that I lost however should not take this long to recover. Since then Ive called in several times to get an update and was assigned a case manager Christina who I missed the call from and when I contacted her back two days later I havent received a response back in a week now. Ive left emails and voicemails each day, and once again contacted customer care to escalate the issue. The agents Ive spoken to were thorough and seemed to care but are powerless in rectifying issue. I work 10 hours a day and when someone has an issue, I look to rectify that problem within 24hrs. We may enter another season by the time I get my money back. Once I pay this vehicle off in full, I will not be doing business with Hyundai again, and I dont recommend anyone else to. Your time and money are not valued enough.

This have been happening for about a week or so. When I would stop at a traffic light, my Sonata would jerk and sputter then cut off, then I would have to start it back up and put it in gear go, then I would come to another light and it would do the same thing, but none of the check engine lights ever came on. Then yesterday, I was driving and trying to pass a car. I noticed that the car would not go past 60 mph and the tech only got up 4000 rpm, so I pulled off to the side of the road where the car stopped on me. So, I started it up, but then none of the gears would work, and I noticed that one of the check engine lights came on, so while I was waiting for a tow truck, I started the car several times. Each time that I started the car, none of the gears would work and none of the check engine lights were on.

I am pleased to inform I am a principal. I am Bharathiraja, **. I purchased a new i10 Era on 31.12.2013 at Pudukkottai Arasu Hyundai. Within two weeks, my car battery problem. I checked in a private battery center, they certified that cell weak, so replace the battery. I informed to service center. They said battery is ok but I am not satisfied. Replace and give new battery. But they did not change, they gave old battery again. I tested again, the same problem appeared. This is not good manner to treat a customer. I feel that I would have gone for some other car company. Please take necessary steps to solve my problem.

We have a 2010 Accent and bought Hyundai dealership parts (tire sensors) and had a Hyundai dealership install the parts and two were defective but I didnt find out until driving the car home. I had to pay the dealership to take out the two bad sensors and reinstall the old parts until they found (4) working. I incurred several hundred in cost for the defective parts and the maintenance charges to deal with the defective parts. Customer service made me jump through hoops with documentation (which I provided) and then more documentation (which I provided) then more documentation including title/license copies? I finally lost my patience after months and had to file a small claims case. Their CA offices are apparently closed so I cannot serve their legal dept? I wrote a letter to their legal dept November 22, 2021 and havent heard anything from anyone at Hyundai. In the mean time Im out $700 + dollars since July, 2021. What kind of treatment is this for their defective parts?

Bought a 2019 new Ioniq last month. On day 2 of owning it, after first opening the hatch, noticed banging, rattling noise from hatch going over bumps. Selling dealership would not take the car back, only advised to take it to a service center. I did that 3 times to no avail. Problem is same. Opened case with Hyundai corporate, they denied request for buyback. Furthermore, they told service dept not to spend any more on fixing this. So there I sit with a horribly noisy new car and no resolution. This is not a normal road noise. Its so annoying I dont want to drive the car. Hyundai has failed me in so many ways, I would never buy another. I now have to either live with a lemon, or take a huge loss on trading it in.

From the hundreds of complaints I have read about Hyundai and their airbag lights, Im beginning to understand that you either live with this problem or you find another car. I pulled out my airbag fuse because Im tired of looking at the light and Im certain that this is a problem that neither I (mechanic for 8 years) or a mechanic at a Hyundai dealer could ever fix. My car is a 2003 Hyundai accent. I maintain this car very well and Im happy with the decent gas millage it gets, but safety is also a huge priority. Im not going to put my life on the line because Hyundai doesnt want to provide support for their customers. Let us know what the problem is so customers like myself could at least fix it.Obviously, this is a consistent and similar problem, otherwise you wouldnt have so many thousands of people complaining. I purchased a Hyundai Genesis Coupe from Parkway Hyundai (Wilmington) in 2014. I was informed by the salesmen that offered me the extended warranty that I would receive coverage for 100,000 miles. Not up to 100,00 miles, but good for 100,000 miles. Huge difference, as the car had nearly 50k miles on it already when it was purchased. I made it very clear to the salesman that I needed coverage for 100k miles. I would have purchased a brand new car, not a used Hyundai with only 50k mile warranty if this had been explained to me correctly, and now the dealership is leaving me out to dry with a car that is not drivable, a higher car payment than what I would have had with a brand new car, (because the warranty is factored into it), and they are feeding me a load of BS.I do not recommend ANYONE, even my worst enemy to purchase from Parkway Hyundai, and also the salesman by the name of Mitchell was very distant to me after I purchased the car. I would drive all the way to Wilmington from out of town and stop by to get an oil change and he would give me blank stares and would not even greet me. What kind of customer service is that? To be nice to me long enough to sell me a car and then treat me like chopped liver after the deal is done. I let that slide because he is a younger guy, I am probably the first he ever sold a car to and he is probably long gone now if he treated someone else the same way, but yeah, I am done with Parkway Hyundai for good either way. They can forget me or anyone I know ever purchasing a vehicle from them ever again.

I bought my Hyundai Sonata in May 2011 and was happy, until on 15,000 mile service. My tires were rotated and I started to hear a noise. I went to the Hyundai service and told them about the noise. They called me about an hour after I left my car saying that the noise coming from the tires and the reason is lack of rotation. When I asked why lack of rotation will cause this problem, service manager told me that the way suspension set in my Sonata caused chopping of the rear wheels if they are not rotated each 5,000-7,500 miles. So Dear Hyundai! I did drive many other car brands and never was too strict about rotating the tires in time. It never made this type of terrible damage to the tires. I started to check online and realized that Im not alone! Digging a bit more, I understand now that one of the vectors for the rear wheels suspension alignment is static. This is the source of the issue!I contacted Hyundai customer affairs and asked to make exception and replace my 2 noisy tires now so I can drive my new car without this terrible noise. I said that I will not continue to complain about the strict rotation requirement and will do it as they advised in the service from now on. However, I also said that such exception tires handling should be communicated when they do the service or even when they sell the car. When I did my first, 7,500 miles service at Hyundai dealership, they did not offer me the rotation nor advised that I should do it and why it is important.Hyundai customer service answer was that I should not wait for service or Hyundai to tell me that I need to do a rotation but ask the service to make the rotation. Thank you for this advice! Im now on the list of unhappy Hyundai customers and probably will never go for another Hyundai nor let any of my friends to make the same mistake!

On Monday 3/7/16 my 2013 Hyundai Sonata accelerated on its own, jumped a curb and hit a tree. The airbag went off. The insurance company totaled the car on 3/16/16. The miles on this car was about 26,000. It was 7 a.m. and I was parking getting ready to put car in park and the car just accelerated on its own. The air bag caused a burn on my arm and I had to go to the doctor twice for the burn. I had on a fairly new Chicos top which was burned and hit the garbage. Because of the time and no one else in the parking lot no one else was involved, For this I am grateful. I have had to purchase a new car and of course is not a Hyundai. All I have to say is that the description provided by the sales person of this vehicle Tucson 2017 I leased is so inaccurate. He described this vehicle as good gas mileage, features, and speed. First of all he said 25mpg in city and 29mpg on highway, I travel a lot and it takes way less than that. Second of all key fob does not open the trunk even though it has a picture of the open trunk on it, I believe it is false advertisement, as it show that pic. I will read the manual and see what it say, to take further actions on this. I just dont know why would it have that pic if it will only unlock it, makes no sense for that use the unlock button. Third people are not trained well as when I called in to check if it was an electric problem the person who answer said that she checked the users manual and it was supposed to unlock it. Ask me to bring it to service to check. When I took it there, the service guy cut me off and said nope it only unlocks it and walked away, not even let me finish my question, so I had to leave, because no one will pay attention to me after they heard him saying that. Then they call me for my plates, the receptionist completely ignored me for a while, they gave me the plates and ask me if I want some one to help me put the plates. I said yes gratefully, and she page someone in service, after waiting for 30 minutes decided to leave as no one showed. This is the first time I ever review someone, so I dont know what else to put, but what I can tell you is that it is the WORSE purchase/contract I ever did. I wish I can return the car, but it will kill my credit so I have to stick with it. I hope you read this before buying/leasing a car and dont go for a Hyundai or not go to that Hudson Hyundai in NJ. I will read the manual and see what it says about the key fob, maybe it is false advertisement, and I will post it here. Dont get stocked in a car like this, it REALLY SUCKS, to live with it for three years.

On 8/20/2013 I was leaving the VA clinic, I put the car in drive and pressed the gas. A few seconds later the car sounded like a motorcycle and the check engine light came on. I didnt want to drive it on the highway so I took the main streets. The exhaust got louder and louder and I was afraid it might cause engine damage. I saw a Meineke Car Care Center and pulled in. They lift the car and the mechanic said that the converter gasket blew out. While installing a new gasket he noticed that the gasket flange on the front pipe was a little distorted probably from all the heat. He told me he would have to put a small amount of sealer on the gasket to make up for the gap and that he didnt know if it would hold, but it would get me to the Hyundai service department without hurting the engine. When he had finished and started the car it was perfect. No noise, no leaks. I had an appointment with Twin City Hyundai on 9/12 for a recall problem. I told them what had happened and the Service rep., the service manager and a mechanic looked for almost an hour and took some parts off the front of the engine. The service rep. called me over and started explaining what was wrong with the car. He said, and they ALL agreed that the manifold was cracked and had to be replaced, the converter was no good, and needed a new front pipe, and they may find other problems after they tore it down. Travis said it would cost $1400 to $3000 if the warranty didnt cover it. Travis (the service rep.) said he had to take some pictures to see if the warranty would cover the cost. On Monday 9/16 Travis called and said the warranty was void because it was road damage, and said it would be as much as $3,000.00 to fix it. Travis NEVER said anything about “Road Damage” on 8/20 after the 3 of them had a one hour inspection. After I got Travis’s call I took the car back to Meineke and told them what Twin City said it would cost. They were outraged and called it a scam. Meineke fixed the car perfectly by installing a new front pipe and their inspection showed NO manifold crack, and no need to replace the converter as it was working properly. The front pipe was $200.00.I drove to Twin City Hyundai and acted like I wanted to have them fix the car. I asked Travis to take another look and make sure he was sure about his appraisal, and what the car needed to be fixed. Even though the car was fixed he still said that it could be as much as $3000 but definitely no lower than $1400. That’s when I told him the car was fixed for $200 and that I wondered how many others he had scammed. I then went up and talked to the General Manager **, and explained the fraud that they tried to pull. His comments were “what would you like me to do about it?” I said as the General Manager, I guess that was up to him, and then out of nowhere he says you are banded from brings your car here for warranty service. He tries to punish me for because I caught his people trying to scam me out of $2800.00.

On January 8, 2012, I leased a 2012 Sonata. Today is January 21, 2012, the car has 460 miles on the odometer. Today is also the first snow day of the season. At 5 oclock this morning, while traveling approximately 20-25 mph on level ground, I was approaching a red light. The brakes locked and the car started sliding. I tried pumping them but kept sliding.Luckily there was no one in front of me. I released the brake while. sliding into the intersection so I could have more control of the vehicle, turning the corner to avoid incoming traffic. Ive been driving for 39 years, since I was 18 years old. I was not speeding. (To be continued, after a visit with service dept. at South Shore Hyundai / Valley Stream, NY)

April of 2016 my vehicle was making a loud knocking noise then finally cut off. I had AAA to tow it to my mechanics which he stated that I was having engine problems. I then towed it to Hyundai dealership and they informed me that I would need a new engine. They gave me the runaround saying that I had to come up with documentation showing that I had been getting oil changes. I asked how many do they need and they informed me that I need to come up with as many as possible, and that I wouldnt be able to receive a rental car until I was approved. Two weeks after having my vehicle I called and they told me that I was approved for a rental. On a regular basis (at least twice a week} I called to get an update with my car. All that I could get from the conversation was, Just keep driving the rental until I tell you to stop. I was given a Nissan Frontier, which was a nice truck but mpg 19 city / 23 highway which we all know that Hyundai 28 city / 36 highway. So it was killing me in gas because I drive 1 hour and 30 to and from work.So I took it back after having it for a little over 2 months and got a Kia Optima for maybe 5 days then my car was ready. I was called at 1:30 and was told that I had to pick my car up that same day, which put me in an inconvenience because I was scheduled to work a late shift and there was no preparation for that. Hyundai informed me that the billing for the rental car ended that day and after that I would be responsible. That put me in a bind because I had to get off work and drive hour and a half to pick up my vehicle. They had my vehicle from April to June. Two days after my vehicle was returned to me my check engine light came on. I took my vehicle back to Hyundai to find out if it was related to the engine block and I was told that it was the high pressure fuel pump $748, transmission sensor $710, and clock spring $398. I was charged $99.95 to do this diagnostic testing. Of course I dont have this kind of money so I declined other than paying for the diagnostic testing. In August I starting experiencing shaking and popping in my steering wheel, so again, I took it to Hyundai to find out the problem and at this time I was told that it was the steering coupler $404. All of this in one year. This car is a lemon and something needs to be done about this. It makes no sense to have to pay for the car and $2260 worth of repairs all in 2 months time. Personally I think everyone that owns one of these vehicle should get a refund.

Starter of my 2011 Hyundai Sonata went out on August 1, 2012. I work in Oakland so I managed to get it back to Fresno. I took it to Lithia Hyundai Service department. Heath ** was the assigned service advisor. He said they will take a look and get back to me. Well, Lithia replaced the starter and said there was a recall on something regarding the starter. I picked up my car on August 3rd. While driving on August 6th, without warning, smoke started coming from hood area and shortly after a flame. I managed to pull off road to a parking lot where the car died. I immediately called AAA to tow to Lithia. While waiting, I took pictures. Service department was closed so I left in lot until morning. I returned to tell what happened. Heath said they would take a look. He called 20-30 minutes later to tell me engine has hole.Mind you, in returning my car the first time from the starter repair, I was told and given paperwork stating everything else was good. He recommended two tires, an air filter, and front brakes. He assured me everything else was okay. Now one month later, I called to find out whats going on with my car. Heath told me he wants to repair because he can make $7,000. I needed to bring him a receipt of my oil change. I have done that and my car is still sitting in service department at Lithia Hyundai. I called every week but get he hasnt heard from Hyundai yet. I asked him to call me when he does, the pictures hes sending and he didnt comply. He told me it would be done by the afternoon. I went to Lithia and my car was still sitting outside in back of shop. I went back on Saturday and it was on a lift.Heath was not in and no one else could answer my questions. I was told everybody handles their own cases. I returned that Monday and Heath told me he sent pictures and docs. I asked for copy. He refused. He just gave me pictures. I dont know whose car that was from. I have since called every week. He said he has no answer yet. I have been away from work since August 2nd. On August 24th, I lost my job of 18 years. I am not a happy camper. My car is new and has little mileage and it should not have caught fire.

Bought a loaded $35000 2010 Sonata in the spring of 2011. Loads of minor things wrong that were never resolved. In Jan 2013, timing belt blew through three sections of the engine. I had a rental for a month and got my car back with a new engine - an engine which they said had to come from Korea which is why the repairs took so long. An engine which the dealership refused to warranty. Forward to spring 2016, the 3 year old engine is now leaking - who knew that Hyundai engines have what the staff called a liquid seal which breaks down over time and cars dont last like they used to. A liquid seal? So every Hyundai owner can expect a $1000 repair around the three year mark to repair a leaking liquid seal. Now that does not sound quite right. We have calls and emails in to the elusive owner of the dealership. I had a Toyota for 16 years and it never gave me a stitch of trouble. Hyundai - never again. Ball joints are wearing, needs all new hoses and brakes all around. Might get rid of it.

I have a 2012 Hyundai Sonata and Ive taken my car to a Hyundai dealership over 6 times. My car started stalling and just shutting down while driving it. Lights in the dash start lighting up and my back lights work sometimes. I keep buying headlights and brake lights. Right today my car is fixed because the dealership said they couldnt find anything wrong with my car. They gave me a loaner car and kept my car for about a month but did nothing to it. I also complained to them that my valves was tapping, but they said its how the car suppose to sound. Its just so much going on with my car but Hyundai dealership dont care about the customers. I have to say I WAS a huge Hyundai supporter. In fact, I referred a family member and a friend to buy one of your cars as well. I say WAS because my 2011 Sonatas engine blew and the dealership (Jim Ellis Hyundai - Atlanta, GA) cannot tell me why. They actually said it would cost $400+ if I wanted to know exactly what happened. They denied me warranty service and told me a new engine would cost $6,800 for a TWO (2) year old car. This is unbelievable to me from a company that stands on its warranties on their cars. I am sure Hyundai is aware that an unhappy customer will reach 10-20 times more potential new customers than a happy customer. I am at this time an UNHAPPY customer.

I purchased a 2013 Sonata in October of 2013 and could not have been happie
I purchased a 2013 Sonata in October of 2013 and could not have been happier with the car the first 18 months of ownership. However, in June of 2015, my cars hybrid alert came on when I put the car in park and the car locked up and would not turn back on again. I had to have it towed to Sacramento Hyundai where they kept it for the day, then gave it back saying nothing was wrong with it. Two days later it did this again and again, would not turn on. I had it towed to Roseville Hyundai because this was where the hybrid specialist worked. In the end, I ended up bringing my car to Roseville Hyundai (about 40 minutes from my house) a total of 4 times. Each time they fixed something on the car but the car was never actually fixed and would break down again 1-2 days after I got it back.During this whole time wasting process I was always put in awful stock rental cars after having to wait at numerous car rental shops after I was told by the dealership that there would be a rental waiting for me (there never was). I have had my car sitting at the dealership, untouched for over a week with no contact by the dealer while they decided (or corporate decided) what they wanted to do next. I was told time and time again that this was a one in a million occurrence, that these things NEVER happen with new Sonatas. After doing my own research on other new Hyundai owners experiences, I beg to differ. It seems like these things happen quite often with the newer Hyundai vehicles. Hyundai Motors eventually decided to stop allowing the dealership to spend any more money trying to fix my car (the dealership was not allowed to swap in a new transmission or engine). So they ended up just turning off the alerts - they didnt tell me they did this but it is quite obvious this is what happened since the car is running the exact same, power and acceleration issues, just no more hybrid alerts. Kinda suspicious. So once I got the car back this final time I began dealing with corporate which has been the worst experience I could have ever imagined. I talked to a live person probably a total of about 4-5 minutes throughout the whole lemon law process that began at the end of August.Leaving a message with Hyundai would result in a call back in 5-7 days. It took the representative over a week just to ASK the dealership for my repair records. And then a couple more weeks before she sent everything in to corporate while I was calling her constantly trying to get updates on the whole process, only to be ignored.. They have a certain number of days that they legally need to respond to lemon law cases and they definitely push this to the very last day. I figured driving a dangerous car that was now having issues getting onto freeways and accelerating from traffic lights would get them to respond to my concerns quicker, but they could have cared less. Once I finally received a letter. I was offered a buyback, not a replacement since this is not required by law.Hyundai only does exactly what is required of them by law (quite often they dont even go this far I have heard) so that they are able to pay as little as possible for the broken car that they sold you. This awful experience that I have been going through should require some sort of human response from the company instead of just 1 actual semi-informative voicemail from the representative (just saying that they would not be giving me a replacement vehicle) and ONE letter from corporate. This letter with the buyback deal had no actual numbers. It just stated that I would be charged some mileage fee for each mile I drove the car (that I had to research myself to figure out since no one from Hyundai actually talked to me). That they would not be reimbursing me for any money that I put into the car... So too bad you loved this car and did everything you could to keep it running properly and looking beautiful... And that I would be charged for any damage to the car. Then they asked me to sign and send it back to complete the process. How do I know what they consider damage and how much theyll charge for it? On top of that, all the extra money I put into the car would be ignored - tinted windows, 4 brand new tires I purchased just a week before all this went down, the $400 maintenance at 35K that Hyundai forces you to do so this warranty can be upheld, etc. On a more personal note Hyundai could care less about the time, energy, and work time lost in this whole process to drive the broken car back and forth to Roseville (when it was driveable) and all the time spent at rental car businesses... The mileage penalty being forced on me causes the $350/month payment to basically go towards borrowing this car for 2 years when I had wrongly assumed that I was in the process of purchasing the car and that my money was going somewhere, and now I am left with nothing. The buyback that Hyundai offered would not even cover my down payment I had made on the car, let alone the monthly payments for the past 2 years. In the end, I would love for this company to just fix my car or give me a car that actually works. My family and I have owned Hyundais for years and have loved the cars and always said nothing but good things about them. But this is our first new Hyundai and we have never had to deal with the actual company until I unfortunately purchased a lemon. The Hyundai corporation is horrid to deal with and does not care about the satisfaction of its loyal customers. I should have researched the reputation of this company before purchasing the car but naively I had faith in Americas Best Warranty to take care of me if anything should go wrong. Reading other peoples reviews on this company and how they have dealt with consumers and their warranty it seems as if this happens quite frequently. Hyundai will do everything in their power to get out of honoring their warranty and if state laws force them to do something, they will be sure to do as little as possible no matter what their loyal customer has gone through. This will definitely be the last Hyundai I ever waste my money on.

I made a down payment of $2k on what was to be a new 2013 Genesis Premium Coupe. After much research, I found out what others were paying for this vehicle and signed a purchase agreement, for which the salesperson refused to provide me with a copy saying it was against Corporate Policy. The exact vehicle had to be obtained from a W. Virginia dealership, so I didnt see the car until all the paperwork was signed. The window sticker of the W. VA dealership showed the car had 9 miles on it. I figured the vehicle should have about 100 to 125 miles on it. The salesperson stated they would have to search for one, and surprisingly, he had it on his lot the following morning. I couldnt pick it up for four days, so the dealership had time to call and alert me to the high mileage but didnt.I found out about the high mileage when I was signing the odometer statement. I questioned it and was told that the vehicle was not driven from the originating dealership but from another W. VA dealership that traded it with the originating dealership. Even in that event, 455 miles sounded unreasonable. I found several paint chips, nicks, and scratches when I got the car home. I requested to speak with the General Sales Manager about the high mile, condition of the paint job, and an allowance of $300.00. Despite repeated attempts, he refused to talk with me. The dealership didnt want to have anything to do with this matter, but the salesperson did pay someone $32.50 to fix two of the paint chips and he paid for a rental. The dealership would have had to pay for a rental anyway, since I had to bring the vehicle back to have the Paint and Fabric Protection applied and 24 hours were needed for it to dry.I paid the same amount for a vehicle with 455 miles that other people were paying for the same car with 2 or ten or sixty miles. I looked into the matter further and found that the car was driven from the originating dealership in W. VA to a dealership in Pennsylvania, back to a dealership in W. VA. and finally to Hyundai of Greensbug. The salesperson left that out. In addition, the mileage driven from the various dealerships fell short of 455 miles which meant someone was driving the vehicle for personal use. I have no way of knowing how the car was driven during the all important Break-In-Period. Furthermore, when I first liquid-waxed the car, I noticed another paint chip on the edge of the hood closest to the windshield. I dont know how damage was done so close to the windshield without damaging the windshield. The chip was down to the metal but covered with the paint protection dried solution. At this point, I had only driven the car, which is garage-kept, about 100 miles. So the damage did not occur while I had it. I called the salesman and he told me I could bring the car in to have the paint chip repaired at my own expense. There is no way anyone within their right mind would pay what I paid knowing in advance that the vehicle had 455 miles on it. No wonder it did not sell at the three previous dealerships. The car had to be sold sight-unseen. I take care of my vehicles which the attached photo of my 20-year-old Honda Accord supports.

I even wouldnt like to imagine what would happen if this problem would occur on the highway. Hyundai Turkey is behaving premature to handle the case. In this century I am not able to understand why the required part can not be delivered within 30 days while there are people touring around the world with bicycles or on foot less than 30 days. I am writing to bring to you attention a serious dissociation between the Hyundai customer value mantra. Starting my family and myself have been very loyal customers to Hyundai brand, group and dealerships in North America and abroad. That is why it pain me that my trust in the words of your dealers at the Miami Gardens Lehman Hyundai was abused during my September 14, 2014 purchase of a Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2013. I expressed one of the major problems during the test drive. I asked clearly about the water droplets from the back window and was told it was condensation, which I now know to be a prevalent defect in the Hyundai Genesis Coupe architecture after being told there was no leak found on September 20, after take a picture and sending to the dealer that sold me the car. Part of the deal included tinted windows which took three days and continued broken schedules. When asked about the light scratched I was told it would be taken care of which took a week of my car being left in the auto body parking lot having to be completely repainted. On the Friday when picking up the car the key were nowhere to be found where I had to use the spare. I recently went back to the dealership to speak directly with Paul, the dealer that sold me the car, and was told he was terminated from the dealership based on conduct. I am at a breaking point, I have let so many negative aspects to the sale pass because I loved the car, but the more I think of the time and pure disrespect it leaves a bad taste. I would like a processed investigation into my sale to be implemented and will be waiting for a conclusive resolution.

I recently and painfully purchased a new elantra limited. Painfully, because of all the runaround I encountered and despite having researched extensively, still having gotten screwed financially. Dont look for any fairness at Hyundai in Pittsburgh, cause they wear you out with the run around, even if youre trading in a Hyundai sonata that was supposed to keep its value. The sale price for the car may be $21000, but it ended up costing me over $25000 with a trade in. And should I be upset about having blowout flat tire at 533miles, especially when both Hyundai and the tire manufacturer Hankook both deny the defectiveness of their cheap tires? It appears that since Hyundai is dependent on the dealerships to sell their cars, they are Willing to give them some slack on dishonoring the warranties, including on their defective tires. Defective tires can lead to accidents and death! I suppose it will take a certain amount of death to occur before Hyundai takes some action like GM had to. I thought Hyundai was better than that, but apparently not!

I have a 2009 Sonata with leather seats and 56,000 miles. It’s still under the so-called bumper-to-bumper warranty. The leather on the drivers seat is cracking and peeling (the same thing happened to my 2007 Elantra). The dealer said it was a wear item and not covered by warranty. I asked them to show me where in the book does it say this, and they pointed to a short sentence that says any wear item is not covered under warranty. They told me Hyundai has a list of not covered items. I called Hyundai to complain and the first thing he said is We have an extensive list of items not covered by our warranty. Wow, it would be nice if they put this in the customers warranty information. He put me on hold, and then came back and said that seats and upholstery are not covered by any warranty, not even for one day for new vehicle. It would also be nice if they told the truth in their advertising. They use the warranty to sell their cars, but they are in fact lying about their warranty coverage.

I slid off the road and called roadside assistance. I had been pulled out about a month ago, also. This time they said they would not pay for being pulled out. We have had a severe winter and have had a lot of ice and snow. On the Hyundai advertising it says, 5 years unlimited roadside assistance, with 24/7, 365 day service. The roadside assistance representative said they recently changed their rules. (Almost a year after I purchased my 2013 Sonata) I talked to representative **. She never told me what rule they changed. I told her they couldnt change the rules retroactively. She said they could and did so. She referred me to the towing service subcontractors. (Cross Country Motor Club) The motor club informed me that the car had to be less than 10 feet from the road, to be pulled back onto the road. I asked him who made that new rule and they could not tell me that. I told them that if a car slid into the ditch, it would be 10 feet from the highway 90% of the time, and that would make roadside assistance unusable 90% of the time. I threatened to go public to the internet and also press a possible lawsuit. My car is well within the 10-foot rule. They still refused. I’m handicapped and a senior citizen. The roadside assistance was a major reason why I purchased the car. Now, Hyundai is going back on their word. I started to call my dealer and before I could talk to him, a towing company called and said they would be at my place within 2 hours. I called the towing company and asked if Hyundai was paying for it and they said yes. Hyundai previously said they would call to get me help, but I would be charged $170.00. I dont think that any customer should put up with a company that treats its customer in the above manner.

While returning from destination 50 miles from home, we stopped to take a break. My wife noticed that the rear bumper had detached from the right side of the car. I was unable to snap it back in and forced to drive back with it detached. Because of the wind caused from driving, the bumper (made of rubber) tore even more.I brought the 2017 Hyundai Elantra Limited into the Hyundai dealer in La Quinta. They examined it and took photos, Their position was that it was caused by an outside force and refused to cover it under warranty, I escalated to the Hyundai Southern Regional office. After several days, they contacted me and agreed with the dealer. This is BS because the only damage they saw on the bumper was some missing paint on the underside. I checked it out and there was no paint missing, the surface was smooth, not rough as it would be if it was scraped. The paint was missing because it was not completely painted underneath. I extremely disappointed and would never buy a Hyundai again, I think they are cheaply made. The exterior dents with even a minor bump from a parked car door.

Watch out for the hidden disposition fee Hyundai Finance charges at the end
Watch out for the hidden disposition fee Hyundai Finance charges at the end of a lease if you return the car to a dealer. I leased a new 2011 Elantra and their dealer never mentioned about the disposition fee. When I returned it in June this year, a month later I got a letter from Hyundai Finance charging me $400 + $4.06 taxes. Given the car was in A1 condition (as per the lease end inspection report) and had only 21k miles on it, youd think they could waive the fee. They do waive the fee if you buy it or re-lease a new car, so why not with a low mileage, A1 condition car. After all, the disposition fee is supposed to cover the dealers expense in preparing the car for resale. What expense was there in preparation on my ex-lease car? Zero to none! Ive asked Hyundai exactly that in a written letter. To date no reply. All they want is the disposition fee. All you hear from them is its in the contract like a broken record. Its the last time I ever lease a car, especially from Hyundai. Stay away from them.

My 2011 Hyundai Sonata died on me last night while driving home on the 210 Fwy without any warning whatsoever. AAA towed it to Parkway Hyundai in Valencia, CA. I received a call today from the dealership telling me I need a new engine. Although my car has 150,000 miles on it, they are mostly easy highway miles and I have not had any mechanical issues up to now. I regularly have maintenance done to the vehicle. I am furious after reading numerous complaints from other 2011 Hyundai Sonata owners with the same problem and Hyundai not accepting any responsibility.

I was told the service department would contact Hyundai directly to see if they would handle re-painting and that the service department would call me in about 4 days. I waited a week and called, no one answered so I left a message. No response from the message so I called again and was put on hold and hung up on. I called a third time and was told someone would call me. After two and a half weeks I get an email asking for pictures. After a few days of no further response, I sent a reply email about the pictures and was asked if I had filed a claim with Hyundai. Even when I got my car insured from Joshi Showroom twice, every time, the insurance policy was sent after 6 months. Now, about the tire problem, the tires they provided me with the car were of zero quality. Just after 3 months, the tires got punctured not just one or two times. In fact, all tires were getting punctured twice or thrice a week. I lodged several complaints but there was no action taken by the dealer. Just for show cause, they issued me a fake inspection report.

Our second & last Hyundai. Car hesitates & bucks very bad from a full stop. Fuel gage not accurate at all. According to brochure car has a 16.4 gallon fuel tank, but when you go to fill it only takes about 9-10 gallons after low fuel indicator reads 30 miles or so to empty. Took car to Obrien Hyundai of Fort Myers shortly after purchase & given a runaround about problem. Told by service writer that there was no code displayed.Talked to 2 independent mechanics who both said it sounds like the fuel pick up or sending unit is either bad or loose in fuel tank. Filled out complaint form with Hyundai USA, called back a week later & was told someone would contact me. No one ever contacted me. After another 2 weeks called Hyundai & was told issue was not escalated because problem did not sound serious enough. Finally contacted Hyundai USA customer service who agreed to escalate case.

On November 19th, 2021, I contacted the team (via (800) 523-4030) to ask the best course of action for receiving, completing and returning the required documentation for this request. I was advised to mail in the documentation, to the overnight office located at the following address: 5505 N. Cumberland Ave., Ste 307 Chicago, IL 60055-4301.The package was delivered on Nov 22, 2021 at 9:48 am and signed for by an associate. After not receiving any follow up, I contacted the team again on December 9th, 2021 to confirm delivery. No confirmation was provided and I was told they would be following up with their partners in Chicago. I followed up again on December 17th and the 27th, still no answer or record of previous conversations. On the 27th I resubmitted the state to state transfer request via email/secure message. I was referred to the escalations department and have followed up 5 times since as resent the email once. Including today. There is still no record of notes from previous conversations or requests previously sent.Today I asked for a 4th submission via secured messaging, a copy of my title and for yet another email to be sent to the titles and complaints department. None of which has taken place. I am currently paying monthly for a vehicle I cannot legally operate, due to the customer service teams blatant neglect for the last 2 months. I was involved in a collision yesterday with my 2012 model iX35. My car was severely damaged on the left front and side bumper, the hood was mangled on the left side, and windscreen slightly cracked. The electronics box was damaged to the point where no electronics worked on the vehicle so I couldnt even close windows or start the car. In retrospect after contemplating the resultant damage, I have to say that I was most impressed with how much impact the front-left-end of the vehicle withstood and how this area was designed to take most of the impact of the collision without the driver (myself) being harmed in any way. Im a little stiff and still post-traumatized as this was my first accident - however - inside the vehicle everything was solid and in place. The airbags did not pop - which is a good sign as this shows that the vitals in the engine were not harmed due to the collision. Although I still have to receive the results of the assessment to the damage - I can only say I felt incredibly safe in the vehicle. Im still trying to fathom how little impact I felt in the vehicle - no whiplash or moving forward abruptly. Im most impressed.

Terrible cars... worse service. I am the owner of a 2008 Hyundai Accent. It was my first new car purchase almost a decade ago. Thats great, except for when I actually took possession of the keys. Within three days the gas cap had to be replaced due to depressurizing. Then about 18 months later there was an issue where the key would go into the ignition, but would not turn. The wheel lock was not the issue. Roadside came out, and said one of the tumblers were jammed. They tapped the key with a rubber mallet, and the key went in without issue. Fast forward three years later, the original 5-year warranty had expired. This time the key would not even go halfway into the ignition. I had to pay $65 for a tow, $700 out of pocket for a new ignition, plus $200 for a rental car. The excuse I got from Hyundai of Bedford Heights, Ohio was that the weight of my keys were too heavy. There were a total of six keys on my ring. It took about a month, but they refunded me the tow and the ignition, and basically told me I was out of luck on the rental. Now there was the recall for the undercarriage rust protection in the snow-belt states late last year. Two weeks before I received the notice, the entire exhaust pipe from the front axle to the muffler fell off the car in the middle of the street. Driving it to a Midas down the street, it was found the pipe, and all the welds that attach to the undercarriage were RUSTED out... imagine that! That was $1,000 out of my own pocket. Thankfully, Hyundai offered a reimbursement program. I get a call several weeks after I filed the claim wanting to know exactly why I was filing the claim. I had yet to hear anything, so I wanted to see if they offered a status update. Sure enough... denied. So magically Hyundai offers to spray the undercarriage to prevent rust under recall, then tells you to stick it when parts have already fallen off due to the reason why the recall was initiated in the first place. I will never purchase another Hyundai again, and Ive gladly talked several friends out of purchasing their product in the last few years. I even laugh at people driving Hyundai vehicles with new tags on them, because I know the world of pain they are due for.

Hyundai Motor Finance sent us an unsolicited pre-approval. We were in the market for a new car, Hyundai vehicles had good ratings so we went to the Hyundai dealer. We should have known from the get go that something was fishy, they tried to change the rates/terms in the pre-approved letter, then the $2,500 discount magically disappeared from the final contract, they then said it did not apply to pre-approved offers, though it had been on the first contract they showed us. Our mistake - It was now 10 at night, we went ahead signed the papers and drove the car home. Problems started with the first payment that they claimed not to receive the paper check in the mail, then paying online was not an option, so we went to Western Union and sent them a payment. Second payment same issue. They seem to have real administrative problems processing and keeping track of paper checks. Third payment we sent in a double payment to cover the month ahead. 2 months later they processed the check, it bounced for NSF ($10 difference in our bank account). They repossessed the car with no warning, no contact, no opportunity to even know that the payment they took 2 months to process had now bounced. They took our car over 300 miles and 6 hours away to another state and gave us less than 10 days to reclaim the car (with hundreds in extra fees for towing and storage now applied). Every attempt to process paperwork with them was a waste of time. We spent over 12 hours on hold in a period of 3 days trying to resolve this, only to be cut off, transferred, or just plain left in limbo. One day we were on hold over 2 hours when it hit 5 PM, and we were disconnected because their office closed. We finally got one human on the phone who was willing to help us and would fax paperwork for us over to the dealer. It never arrived. The finance dept at the dealership was equally baffled and attempted to help us resolve the issues but Hyundai finance wouldnt ever cooperate with the dealers office.Of the limited number of days we had to reclaim our car, 4 of those days were weekend days which their office was closed. So we had 6 working days to try to resolve this with an office that we could never get through to except on a very few occasions (I think we actually got a human 3 times out of about 40-50 tries). No paperwork ever arrived at the dealer, they would not accept any paperwork that the dealer had on hand (it had to be their special forms). Our car was over 300 miles away in another state. We had the cash - but because of their convoluted procedures, and lack of help, and terrible staffing on their customer service lines - WE LOST OUR CAR!Where did our car end up? At a Hyundai dealer in Ohio that seems to have a car lot brimming with dozens of used Hyundais, less than one year old with low miles (like our car), that are for sale at almost the same price as when they were brand new, but with used car interest rates, with car loans offered by - you guessed it - Hyundai finance! We were out our $2,000 down payment, our $4,000 trade in, + 2 payments, and now with the extra fees Hyundai STILL wants an ADDITIONAL $3,500 from us for a car we had less than 4 months. Our credit is wrecked (the repo lowered our score over 120 points instantly). In hind sight - this seems like a terrible scam where they are selling the cars twice, the second time at higher interest rates at almost the same price as brand new, and racking up impossible fees, and unwilling to work with consumers to get their cars back.4 months with our Hyundai cost over $10,000 - not a bargain in anyones book. Their lack of customer service, inability to reach them, the stonewalling as we tried to get the money to them to reclaim our car - they just made it absolutely impossible. And sending our car over 300 miles away - how high do they have to make the hurdles? We live in a metropolitan area with plenty of auction lots where the car could have gone to, sending it 300 miles away was overkill, designed to make it even more difficult for us. The finance manager at the local dealer was left shaking his head. Apparently 300 miles is the MAXIMUM that they are allowed by law to take the car and they took it to the max (12 miles further according to MapQuest). Shady.

Just needed to let you know if ever you decide to buy a car, I suggest you
Just needed to let you know if ever you decide to buy a car, I suggest you buy it from Hyundai. Let me tell you why from my own experience - I bought an Elantra GLS 2013, from Hyundai Gatineau. Now wait, just wait till I tell you why you should not. After I bought my car. First of all, I get a letter saying that every year to go to where I bought my car and they will reimburse a credit card to pay the difference in gas because something about the consuming of gas is not ok, that the car should not drink so much gas. Then one yr later, getting ready to go to the States with 3 other persons and fill up my car with gas, so here I am all ready to go. Guess what, my car does not start, the radio works, the lights works, the battery is not dead so my son says, Mom, I have no idea what the hell is happening here.So I call CAA. He comes and says, Sorry, Miss, but need to take your car to the dealership garage. I tell him, But it is closed, so he tells me, I guess you will have to wait till Monday. So trip to the State, motel, friends waiting, everything down the drain. So Monday comes, me being really pissed off, I call and tell them that I am very upset with what happened and the answer was, Well, Miss we will call you and let you know what is wrong and this could happen at any dealership - no excuse. So they call me later and said, Your car is ready. You can come and pick it up, and I said, Well, I dont have a ride. He says, Well, cant you get someone to drive you? I replied, Hey, this is your responsibility. You get someone to take care of it. So he got someone to pick me up. Still pissed off, tell the guy this is the first time that I buy a brand new car and have so much issues with a car. He just looked at me like I was just a number, so I leave, get in my car and see my gas gauge. It was half full of gas, so I get out of my car and now really, really pissed off and go back inside to tell them about it and again Well, Maam, we did not drive your car. So I go and see the Manager. He brings me to see the Manager of the repair shop and looked at me like I was lying. Holy ** was I mad, so I said, I want to file a complaint, so they give me the number of Hyundai Canada. I call and tell them about what happened and yes by now, I am burning up OK. The lady at Hyundai Canada says she is sorry about what happened but We can offer you a gift for your inconvenience. I said of course yes, thinking this might be rewarding. Holy crap, I thought I was going to hit the roof. You just cannot believe what they offered me. This is truly what they offered me, a choice between a mug, a tuque, or a water bottle. I said to myself, Are you really that stupid to offer me such a gift after what I went through? I just said, Really, you can keep your gift, and hung up. True story, believe me. This is what I think about Hyundai Gatineau, Hyundai Canada, (NOTHING GOOD). Oh yea forgot to tell you what the problem was. It was a default in the wiring from the motor to the starter. I am 59 yrs old and have bought cars before and never and I mean never had issues like this. I have seen the complaints in the reviews and could not believe how many there was and nothing is being done about this. A guy needs a lawyer to deal with his problem. This is ridiculous. Why should this guy pay for a lawyer when there are so many complaints about Hyundai? What do we need to do for something to be done? You should allow us to return the car and get our money back so we can go to another dealer to buy another car. LOOK at the reviews about Hyundai and do something about it. Now I dont feel safe in my brand New car which does not make any sense at all. YES, I AM REALLY, REALLY PISSED OFF.

This is with deep disgust that I am writing this letter to Hyundai. My familys loyalty toward Hyundai started in the year 1999 with the first generation Santro. From there, we have possessed Accent which was bought by my brother, two Verna first generation, etc. and finally we have gone for a Fluidic Verna in the year 2011. I possessed a white Verna SX CRDI ABS, which was the top variant in the year 2008. The reason for top model with ABS was due to the utmost safety concerns. But I had 3 instances of accident with my car which was due to ineffective ABS. This complaint I have raised with The Popular Motor World delegates in Cochin, Kottayam, Muvattupuzha centers in Kerala but they could not help me on the same.I had spent thousands of bucks on service after the other but the result was the same. Now, my car has covered 75,000 kilometers and even last week, I was about to meet with an accident owing to the problem of the ABS. Now, delegates in the service department is suggesting me to change the ABS Sensor. Brand loyalty is exercised by a customer due to various factors among which I believe the most important one is service quality and the ownership the company takes to give customer delight. But now when I turned back, I am surprised to find that passenger car market had given me numerous option to choose from but still I was loyal to Hyundai and all due to that decision I am now having a tough time. None of the brands are built in a day and I strongly believe that quality is not an accident but an outcome of conscious and continuous effort. Please help me to come out of this issue. Thank you.

I have a 2009 Hyundai Sonata. It has about 140,000 miles on it and is admittedly well outside of any warranty. However, I believe this case requires an exception. About a year ago, the paint started chipping off my car. Not little scratches but fairly large spots. I contacted Hyundai who said it was outside the warranty, and I let it go. Last Saturday, during a hard rain, the paint literally fell off my car. My husband drove to Columbus that day, and when he arrived, the paint had vanished from the entire roof. Patches came off of the hood as well. And the trunk is beginning to peel. I am told this is a delamination issue related to metal paint preparation. While I realize that the car is outside the warranty, I stand by my statement that no matter how many miles a car has on it, the paint should not come off in the rain! Hyundai refuses to even refer the case to a supervisor.. Normal wear and tear happens, and I accept that. But this is clearly a factory defect, and I think Hyundai should be responsible for fixing it. I am interested in finding others with similar experience to approach Hyundai together.

The thing that I liked most about this van over the other we considered purchasing is the price. It was the most affordable of all that we considered purchasing. Hyundai courtesy car insurance only cover people between the age of 21 to 69 so it was suggested that I add the courtesy car to my insurance but when I contacted my insurance company that told me that they could not insure a car that is already insured. New I10 Not Working: This is to inform you that I had purchased a new Hyundai i10 Asta on 11th April 2012. The vehicle was registered under registration no. **, and the same was delivered to me at 7pm on 11th April 2012. After taking possession of the car, I left for my residence at Naigaon. As I was closing towards Naigaon, my vehicle stopped working after a run of just 68 kms and was completely dead. I parked the vehicle and next day, I called up their call center and complained for the same. I was given a complaint no. (job no. **). Their technician, Mr. **, reached the spot and inspected the vehicle. After nearly working for two hours on the vehicle, he reported that the vehicle cannot be repaired as it would not start; hence, it had to be towed to their Thane workshop. He called certain concerned people, asked for a tow van and gave a report form giving details as vehicle not starting, alternator problem, taken by towing. From there onwards, my turmoil to get my vehicle repaired started. I called up the showroom from where I had purchased my vehicle and spoke to their sales manager, Mr. **, tel no. **, who promptly shifted his responsibilities to Mr. **, tel no. **, stating he is the technical in charge and will be able to help me out. On contacting him for two days, I got only one reply from him that we are trying to locate the fault. On pressing him to give me a proper status of my vehicle, he abruptly said that he was not concerned about it and was just trying to help me out and I should be contacting their technical in charge of Thane workshop, Mr. **, mobile no. **, as the vehicle was in their possession. After explaining to Mr. ** the entire case, he to promised to come back and report the same. As I did not get any response from him in the next 24 hours, I called him back on which he told me his assistant, Mr. **, will keep me updated of the status. I waited for another 24 hours waiting desperately for his call. I called Mr. ** and informed him that I have not received any call from Mr. **, on which he was very courteous of giving me his mobile no. ** (Mr. **). He called me up in the next 10 minutes and Mr. ** was the first person to update me that the vehicle had some alternator problem which they will replace and the vehicle should be ready by 16th April evening. After calling him again in the evening for my vehicles delivery, he told me that there were still some problems with the new alternator as the current was fluctuating and the vehicle needs further inspection for a day. I asked him if I could speak to someone senior but he could not provide me with any. In my desperation, I went to the Hyundai site address and got the number of M/S **, assistant manager, western division regional office, tel no. 022 40969000. On speaking to her, I thought I am coming close to solving my problem who promised me that she will look in to the matter and come back within an hour. After contacting her after an hour, she told me that I will see that my regional manager will personally look in to my case and by tomorrow, she will be coming to some solution. On 17th April, I tried to call M/S ** but I couldnt go through her tel. no. But I got a call from Mr. ** stating that the alternator replaced was also defective and they were waiting for a new alternator to arrive. This probably was the peak of any company being so irresponsible and hence, I once again called and told M/S ** that I do not wish to take a repaired vehicle, where their best technicians as claimed could not locate the problem in nearly six days for a brand new vehicle which was used for only three hours and approximately 70 kms. After purchasing a brand new vehicle and it stopping within three hours of delivery and me desperately calling nearly 125 times to their six top company representatives in the last six days and going in to hardship like getting stranded in the middle of the night and using a car on rental for the last seven days, my problem has no solution as I was forwarded to one more executive Mr. ** (**) by M/S ** as she had to go to Pune and could not attend to my problem. Last but not the least, Mr. ** has once again promised to look in to the matter fairly. As a customer, I dont deserve to suffer like this whereby I will be forced to address my complaint to the Consumer Forum as no solutions are seen.

The 2012 Hyundai Sonata is pretty and stylish inside and out. I bought the Limited Trim with all the bells and whistles. Problems: The steering began to tug to one side while the car was still under bumper-to-bumper warranty. We took the car several times to the dealership and they could not see anything wrong with the vehicle. I was told this behavior was within Hyundais specification and that it was normal for the vehicle. This is the first vehicle that I have owned that has this abnormal normalcy. This problem has not gone away. Vibration. I cannot tell you enough how irritated I have been with this vibration. Once you go over a certain speed (Im not sure at the moment, but Im not talking of highway speed - just normal in-town speed), the car begins to vibrate. Ive gone to the dealership over and over and over. I am tired and angry that a brand new 2012 car will behave this way and the people at the dealership cant figure out what the seems to be the problem. Not too long ago, my wife and I noticed that when turning the vehicle made a certain noise as if something was about to break, as if some metal was hitting another metal. The dealership said it was a steering column problem and we had to pay out of pocket to fix it since we have put over 60,000 miles on the car. The car has gone out of bumper-to-bumper warranty. The lingering problems (listed above), I have to fix out of pocket. It will take a lot, a whole lot, for me to buy a Hyundai vehicle ever again. I loved the roominess and stylishness of the Sonata, but it seems that those are about all it has. I am very disappointed in this vehicle to say the least. My 2009 Chrysler 300C never gave me these troubles.

MY 2013 Hyundai was purchased brand new 7/23/13. 10/22/13 the driver side wheel well cover splash shield broke while I was on a major highway. I took the car to the dealer the same day and was told the warranty did not cover this part. I was told it had to be replaced as it kept dirt and road dust off the engine. The dealer made it sound like this was a major part and HAD to be replaced. The cost was $162.10. 5/2/15, the same thing occurred and I did not hit anything. I feel should be covered under the warranty. In addition I do not think this is a critical part that has to be replaced to protect the engine. The part is 86811-3Q500 Guard Assy - Fr Wheel LH.

I bought the car in November of 2010, and its been a bad experience since having thought of buying the new car from Hyundai. My car has been taken four times for A/C problems to Hyundai, but still the same problem persists. Secondly, the car is has started to get rusty within nine months time, and there was no one from Hyundai to talk to with authority.

I have a 2011 Gen Coupe 3.8, purchased in Oct 2010. My steering wheel started peeling about 3 months ago (around 7,000 miles) and I brought this issue up to my dealership a little over a month ago. They said, Hey, thats not right, and wont get any better. So the way Hyundai does things, is to take a picture, and send it to the regional manager. About a week later, I got a call from the dealership saying the Hyundai representative denied replacement. I was a little upset, but the peeling wasnt too horrid yet.About a month down the road, the peeling has gotten really bad, and its about 2 inches long, and wraps halfway around the wheel. You barely touch the spot, and this black plastic just falls right off. I brought my car in again, for a new picture/replacement request. The representative again denied it. And the dealership said, Hes denying it because they have no fix right now, Hyundai knows its an issue and will just happen again if they replace it. So Im stuck with a crappy peeling, ugly steering wheel now. I even called Hyundai corporate and they said the regional manager has the final say.Way to go Hyundai, some 10 years/100k warranty you have there!

Why is it that whenever you buy the extended warranty and then need the dealership to honor that warranty, it covers everything except the work that you need? I have a 2012 Elantra with the extended warranty and the AC broke. Now Piazza Hyundai in Limerick PA says it will cost me over $700 to replace. This is fraud. What else could it be.

I purchased a 2007 Hyundai Veracruz in May 2012. In November 2012 the alternator failed. I replaced the alternator at a local garage for the sum of $489. In August 2014 I received a notice from Hyundai about a recall because the value cover was leaking oil into the alternator causing it to fail. The notice indicated that if I had previously paid for repairs the next instruction would provide instructions for reimbursement. I called the claim telephone number and they gave me a claim number and instructed me to get the vehicle checked at a dealership and then send the documentation to them. I told the dealership that I had replaced the alternator. After the repair they said the current alternator had oil in it so it had to be replaced as well. I sent all the documents to Hyundai and the reply was that.... there was no proof the first alternator was damaged by the oil leak... the recall wasnt to replace alternators and the warranty on the vehicle had expired In May 2012. This is really a slimy reply as it was their engineers (maybe US govt?) that determined there was a design problem. They have denied a legitimate claim because they found some wiggle room. This is not the mark of a company where one should buy their products. Im going to badmouth them every chance I get. If I can convince one or two people over the next several years not to buy their product they will have lost more than I had requested for reimbursement.

I bought an Elantra car for Hyundai Des Moines dealer, actually I bought a lemon. I bought this car because its fuel efficiency as they advertise it is 28-38 mile, but in the first day I found that its mpg is 24 and it stated drop by time and after one week it become 17.5. That is unbelievable. It is like a big SUV. I contact the company and they requested to put it in service. This is not acceptable. A new car go to service in the first two weeks. The government must protect the customer from the liar car companies and we must be able to return the car if it is not as they said. Another serious issue was its tire - it has no traction on snow. I get stuck on snow 4 times. I need to change the tires and this is unacceptable too. Could anyone guide me how to return this car?

I was in a car accident yesterday. I hit a deer head on going 70 mph. My airbag never deployed and the deer took out my entire front and shoved the engine or engine block back. The car (2010 Hyundai Elantra) is being totaled and no one can tell me why the air bag did not deploy. I spent the morning in the ER and have a concussion, bruises and pain from the impact of hitting the steering wheel. I called Hyundai and they want me to fill out an information packet for them. The car has only been serviced by a Hyundai dealer. First responders to tow truck drivers cannot believe the airbag did not work.
