I bought a 2018 KIA Soul in May of 2018. There was no visible signs of rust on the car at the time. After about a month of driving it I took it to the car wash. At close inspection after the wash I noticed rust on the lower part the back passenger doors (both sides of the car...same place). I contacted the KIA dealer, they took pictures and sent them with the info to a corp. office somewhere. Their response was that the rust was caused by an outside source and they would not cover it. So I contacted KIA in Cal. Got the same answer. Thats Bull. This is a new 2018 car...it should not have any rust on it, plus they should have took measures to prevent such an occurrence. I would not have bought the car if the rust was visible when I looked at it. Im still waiting on Higher Up to make their decision at the KIA Corp. in Cal.
I bought a new car from Kia in November at 9 pm. After spending about 3 hrs there because the salesmen who promised to give me a better deal went home without calling me they then tried to charge me about a 100.00 more than the other dealer. The next day I noticed a small ding in door but was going to let it go until I noticed part of the rear bumper area had waves or indentations throughout it. I finally got it fixed after being laughed at originally. Three months ago I noticed the paint on my car starting to pop. There are no dents on the car and it is garage kept yet they are trying to avoid fixing it and blaming it on something contaminating the paint. This is garage kept in a personal parking spot at work with no trees around it. I partially blame the dealer. But for Kia corporate not to take action is inexcusable. I have missed work because of the stress this has put on me and I now may have to take legal action to get it fixed
Kia Optima Hybrid Started on Its Own due to faulty push start. - Kia has an uncanny way of stating the same corporate line that the vehicle operates as designed when you tell them there is something wrong with the car. All one has to do is You Tube a woman who had a child in her Kia truck that took control of her and raced the car on a highway at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. This happened for over 30 miles and they settled with her only because it was on the police cam.In my case, my Kia literally started on its own and rolled down a hill into the woods. When I called Kia to tell them what had happened, they said the same line to me as they did to that woman with the truck. When I told Kia that the same situation was shown on You Tube where a lady had a Hybrid that she recorded to start on its own. Yet Kia is holding firm that the car does not want do that. The bottom line is Kia is a terrible car company. Of all of these complaints on here, we need real satisfaction. I think we should post everyday that Kia should not be the car company you want to deal with. I would like to hear from many of you. Perhaps in numbers, they will listen to us. Lets join up and be the David against Goliath. We will prevail. Please respond and lets get going. Thank you.
My family bought a brand new Kia Sorento from this dealership 7 months ago and it almost took their lives on the highway when the car suddenly stalled and stopped. We had our car towed to the dealership and they told us that the alternator was the problem and that our mechanic had spilt oil into it and it wasnt a warrantable item. We choose to not to believe them and had the car towed out and the alternator inspected and we found out that it was a failed part that they dont make any more for Kias. We sent the alternator to them after they told us to, to show them that they were putting peoples lives in danger and that they should have warrantied it and paid for it but instead they call us and tell us no. Instead of taking care of us they keep spinning this around trying to take advantage of us just so they do not have to pay. Keep your family safe and dont bother buying a car from here. Were not gonna give up. Were gonna make sure to fight this cause this is a crime.
2014 KIA CADENZA. I have been a Kia owner for the past 10 yrs. I previously owned the AMANTI that I loved very very much, until the very end when I decided to trade in for a new Cadenza. But I seem to have a internal noise problem with the cadenza. I noticed the clicking noise about 200 mile. I took it to the dealer, however they said could not find a problem. I returned again after 300 miles, still with the problem. The sales manager advised me to wait until after 500 miles to open a case with Kia. I returned the auto after 900 miles, they looked into it. On Nov 13th 2014 they wrote the following on the work order PIT STOP P5282 SIDE CENTER OF SUNROOF, NOISE COMING FROM LOOSE SCREWS HOLDING SUNROOF CURTAIN IN PLACE: 85310R00 3.2 HEADLINER BAR, 81651 - 3R500... FAILED PART, RE-SECURED AND PREFORMED PIT STOP FOR RATTLE. Well after month later the problem return, I wrote an email complaining to dealer that noise appears to have return. On 01/06/15 I took the car back to the dealership for the same noise. The dealership found no problem and wrote the following: TEST DROVE CAR WITH TECHNICIAN FOR 7 MILES OVER VARIOUS ROAD SURFACES AND OVER BUMPS COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM, NO PROBLEM FOUND. Problem still exist. The dealership indicated that they drove the car for over 7 miles and found no problem, however I had noted the mileage on the car and found that the car had only been driven under a mile. I filed a complaint sales manager at the dealership, which the service manager admitted that they did not drive the car only around the block. I preceded to file a compliant with Kia customer service and meet with the District Manger. It took about 2 weeks to confirm the meeting at the dealership. I finally met with DM who drove with me and agree there was a problem. It took over 2 more weeks to schedule a repair date. On 3/25/15, Once again I returned the car to the dealership and they found a problem. Stating the following: C/S noise coming from roof of vehicle near the roof. Please check and advise. Effective part # 81630R500. Found edge of sunroof plate bolts were over torqued causing rail to sit improperly in track adjusted to Kia specs and road tested with technician and Kia DSPN, adjusted sunroof plates, no noise present at this time.Once again the noise has come back and even worst, metal bouncing inside of sunroof. I stop by the dealership on 4/14 and talked to the service manger, which rode with me and agreed there was a noise. He preceded to advise me that he would contact the DM of Kia and call me when arrangement made. On 4/16/15 the service manager called stating still waiting on DM call back. On April 22, he contacted me stating which day early next week was good. On April 24th contact SM and advised him that on April 28th at 10 am would be fine to meet with the SM and DM. To my surprise, the DM was not present. I advised the SM to contact me when the DM would show up so that I was involved in the loop. However, that did not occur. On 4/29 the service manger advised me by phone that no problem was found. I have requested once again to meet with the DM and take the service manager and District Kia manager on a ride, so they understand the noise factor. I have requested to meet the DM through the Kia customer service and Service manger at the dealer, once again review the problem and take test drive with me present. Still waiting for a response as of 5/1/15. I am extremely unhappy with the noise of this cadenza, most passenger hear the noise. Now the dealer is sending messages that I need to return the loaner car, because KIA is not going to pay for the use of the loaner. So now they are threatening me with billing my credit car for a dealer loaner. I have not heard from KIa regarding this matter as of yet. Frankly I am beginning to dislike the fact that I purchased this cadenza, though I was extremely happy with my KIA AMANTI. CASE # **. One of the solutions has been to have the sunroof completely changed according to other kia cadenza owners who have experienced the same situation.
I originally purchased a Kia Sorento EX in July and after the car being in the shop numerous times without any resolution to the problem, I then traded it in after only a month for another 2013 Kia Sorento EX but with the 3rd row seating and navigation package. My 3-month-old car was in the shop. I originally had a problem with the gas mileage and rpm to which I was told Kia came out with an update to fix that problem, which apparently after having the update applied to my vehicle has made the problem worse! I currently am getting horrible gas mileage for a four-cylinder; if I wanted only 18-22 mpg, I would have purchased a 6-cylinder. On top of that, my heating element went out on the drivers side which they ordered the part, but that apparently was not the problem and at the moment they are not sure what is going on. I then tried to get a rental car through the service offered by the extended platinum coverage that I had purchased at the time of purchase of the vehicle. I was then rudely told that the only way a rental is covered is if the vehicle has a diagnosis code and that the issue would be covered under warranty! Its a brand new vehicle with extended coverage. Why wouldnt it be covered under warranty? What is the point of me spending over a thousand dollars on a warranty that is useless? I am beyond upset with my recent purchase through Kia and Im very disgusted at the way the regional office handles customer complaints or concerns. I initially had a claim pending with Kia. I called several times, each leaving a message, and still have yet to receive even a courtesy call back. The young lady I had originally spoke with when I had an issue with the first vehicle told me, Thats why Kia has a warranty to cover issues with their vehicles! So that tells me that they arent going to make a quality car because they have such an outstanding warranty? Its not even the issue with the warranty; its the stress and gas wasted running back and forth to a dealership. If I wanted an unreliable vehicle, then I would have purchased a used car! At the moment, I have nothing good to say about Kia because you obviously dont stand by your products. Your customer service is very lackluster, and the right to do would have been to may be a little more caring and even offer a gas card for the inconvenience of my traveling 50+ miles back and forth to the dealership. So that day, after spending over two hours in the service department, I was given a rental by the service asst. manager in which I do commend her for doing so, seeing that they had yet to come up with a solution to the problem. I was happy with their covering the rental but not by the fact that it was a basic model Nissan Versa! On another note, Kia is the only dealership that I have dealt with that does not have a shuttle service nor uses their own brand of vehicles as loaner cars which, to me, says a lot. All that I was asking for was that someone takes a little more initiative in solving customer issues and making sure the customer is satisfied, and I am really hoping that my problem is successfully resolved this time around. Its one thing when you are having issues with your vehicle and customer service goes above and beyond. At least when people ask if you like your vehicle, you can tell them, Well, Ive had a couple issues, but Kia corporate was very helpful in resolving, vs. No, I wouldnt suggest that you purchase a Kia! I was just contacted by the service department at Conyers Kia and my car is drivable but the issue hasnt been fixed. They need to order a new part which wont be in until sometime next month. So now, that is more time and gas wasted! Once all the parts came in, I then took my vehicle back into the shop for the fourth time! They then replaced the alternator which was supposedly causing the idling problem, and they also replaced my heating element. Well, two months later, lets just say not only has my gas mileage gotten worse since they replaced the alternator but the idling problem has returned! Also, the update that was supposed to fix the problems was obviously a lie because not only is the problem unfixable, Kia has come out with a reimbursement program for falsely advertising mpg on certain vehicles.
2013 Optima EX - Purchased this car in November of 12. I had it serviced at every 5,000 miles, and got all the way up to 32,000 where it had died 2 times before and restarted, but not this time. The motor is locked up, and needs to be replaced. Had it taken to a Kia dealership, and the hum hawing has begun. Much doubt has already been exhibited by the dealership in replacing the motor under the warranty. When we purchased this car, the dealer gave us a 20 year 200,000 mile warranty. Looks to me like it was worth the time to drive off the lot and then it was over, expired, worthless. I hope someone somewhere can make this right.
I am currently looking to buy a Kia Sorento. Ive never own a Kia before. I was looking at one in particular that I really like. It is a 2013 Kia Sorento, 31K, 2.4L engine, LX. Last time my father and I look at the engine, some of the parts were very rusted, NOT the engine. If you are facing the hood of the car, this metal piece is located on your left, it is very rusted. The salespeople tells me its ok, its rusted due to Minnesota weather and all but I am not sure it should be in that condition. I really like this car but not sure if I should spend 18K on it.
When I top off my Gas Tank, after that is difficult to start up and maintain the RPMs. It gets turn off, and after I accelerate couple times it get stable but the check engine turns on, and this issue happened any time that I fill the gas tank.
I just noticed a bubble on the hood of my 2010 KIA Soul. I called the dealer and they said that Kia only warranties paint for 3 years or 30,000 miles. Well, it just so happened that although its within the 3 years, I am over the mileage by about 15,000. First of all, what do miles driven have to do with paint? I told him I keep it garaged at home and under cover at work. It rarely gets sun exposure other than when Im driving. Im not happy!
I was the owner of a 2018 Kia Sorento. Upon getting close to the end of my lease, I went to the dealership Smithtown Kia on Long Island, NY. Between mileage and remaining payments, part of the deal/contract for exchanging the 2018 Sorento for a new 2020 Kia Optima is that the remaining balance on the Sorento would be paid off by the dealership. The check for the remaining balance (in excess of $2,600.00) was sent by the dealership upon closure of the deal in February 2020. In August of the same year I received a notification from Transunion (one of the major credit bureaus) that a reported missed payment in the amount of the payoff had been reported by Kia Motors Finance. What Kia neglected to do was send the letters claiming I owed them this money to the address listed when I got the 2020 Optima (my current address), not the address I lived in upon the lease of the 2018 Sorento.I was left in the dark about it due to their negligence to send letters to the right address informing me of their negligence to handle a contracted pay off properly. I checked my credit score which at the time of the deal back in February was well over 800. What happened to my credit score was more than just a drop in the bucket. The drop my credit had experienced put me in a terrible position with my mortgage lender during a refinance that was taking place at the same time frame I found out about this remaining balance on a vehicle I no longer owned nor was legally financially responsible for due to the terms of the balance being the responsibility of the dealership to pay off. I called the dealership right away and they claimed they had sent the check. They sent me a tracking number where the check was sent via Fedex. I looked into the tracking number and the check was signed for by Kia Finance that it had been received.I called Kia Finance. After waiting unbelievable amounts of time to speak with someone, they requested that I send them a picture of the front and back of the check that the dealership had sent them for the pay off. So they wanted a picture of a check they already physically received, yes you read that right. I called the dealership and got the run around for 4 days before they found it and sent it to me via email. Mind you, every day that goes by I am building a terrible mountain of late days on my credit regarding this pay off. Once I received the picture of the front and back of the check I called Kia Finance again where they gave me an email to forward the picture of the check. I sent the email twice in the same day. I called the next day and they put me on hold for 45 minutes only to tell me that I had to wait an additional 2 days before they could find and review the email with the picture attached.I waited 2 days and called back. When I got someone on the phone they put me on hold for 2 straight hours before I lost my patience and gave up. I called the next day and they had me on the phone for an hour before they found the email. Once they found the email the lady on the phone said she was sending it over to payment processing which would take another 3 days. Yes, another 3 days. I waited the 3 days and called back. I got a lady on the phone whom I explained the whole situation to. She puts me on hold to review the situation and once again never gets back to me. I waited on hold for almost a half hour before I gave up again. I have the background music for being on hold with Kia etched into the bad memory bank of my brain. I called back right away where the next lady proceeded to tell me that she needed to review the situation and asked if I would hold for 2 to 3 minutes.I lost it at this point and started pointlessly yelling at them because Im a human being thats been completely pushed to the limit. Finally after over 2 weeks of this horrible experience I get a payment processing person on the phone that seemed interested in helping. But in the end, Ive been instructed I need to wait another 3 days before theyll know anything else. Im literally fighting against the credit bureaus clock because of this company due to absolutely no fault of my own.As I wrote this review I have literally been on hold upon the resolution of the last call I explained for over 26 minutes. I have no hope or feeling of resolution to this awful situation these people have put me in. Gross customer negligence and incompetence that has cost me my financial health. Something needs to be done whether Im the only person this has happened to or whether its happened to multiple people. Its unethical, its immoral, its life altering. I dont know what else to do. I will never get a Kia ever again.
I purchased a 2013 Kia Sorento 22 months ago. Driving a few days ago, the vehicle started making a very old noise, then a huge bang. Stop and the car hasnt moved since. No check engine light... no low oil like... no indication that anything was going wrong. I kept all maintenance and upkeep records. I had a log on the oil changes since my dad did them regularly. The engine locked up, Kia wants 6,500 dollars to replace. I purchased the extended warranty, the warranty company will not honor since the oil changes were not performed at a shop. Im on a very difficult place being I still owe on car and dont have 6500 dollars laying around to buy another motor... this is a known problem and they are doing nothing to fix it!! I have the warranty and they refuse to cover since my dad did the oil changes. They told me they dont have proof my dad actually physically put the oil in my car so they refuse to approve the repairs!!! This warranty coverage was not cheap either. I dont know what to do, Im a single mom, no reliable transportation to work now. Dont buy a Kia!!!
I bought a Kia Picanto with registration no. ** from Princess Crossing Franchise in Roodepoort, Gauteng on July 21, 2011. Up to date, I didnt receive the service booklet of the vehicle. Wayne **, the sales representative, promised on numerous occasions that in two weeks time I will have the booklet and that he didnt receive it from head office yet. I am a very proud owner of the Kia Picanto. And I want to keep the service schedule up to date. Can something small like a booklet turn into an issue? Please assist me.
2010 Kia Optima service - I have taken my car on three different occasions for the front driver side wheel. I hit a curve and was trying to make sure that the rim and/or the tire was not bad. Each time I have taken it, they said they could not find anything wrong with the tire or the rim. But the tires have been rotated and now the rim is back on the front and my steering wheel is shaking badly. I took it back today and stayed there from 8AM to 1PM, to be told that I need to get a wheel alignment, tire balance and rotation, but it would be another 2 hours. I told them that I have been there all day and I have to go. This is not right. How many times do I have to take my car to get it serviced? The end result? No service.
My Kia Sorento is as nice as a Lexus. It drives and handles very well. It has a very nice interior and the heated and cooled seats are great. The panoramic roof is nice!
After my 2016 Sorento stopped shifting out of park. It was towed 3 hrs to the closest dealership. I was told there was a rental vehicle reserved and covered in a neighboring town. After leaving work and getting a ride to pick it up I was called the next morning being told there was a mistake and the car had to be returned that afternoon or else I would be charged. I once again left work early to race up and get it returned before closing. The next day I was told that there were gas charges to paid on my end. To which I explained that I would have never picked up the car that was in my position for less then 24hr and was only driven from budget to my house and back if I wasn’t told to! After calling Kia Canada to see what could be done I finally received a call back 3 days later with a “sorry but there nothing we can do”. A week goes by and my car is now worse then it was with a secondary part now backorder. They say I can get another rental. But they will only pay for a tiny hatchback this time. This was after hours on hold, speaking to different agents who kept passing me back to Elliot the first agent I dealt with, who kept not returning my phone calls again!!! He then told me my remote living and size of family does not matter to him, Kia offers to help but do not have to do anything for me. I was laughed at when I said I was upset and asked to have my call return ASAP. Worse customer service ever!!! Although I have enjoyed my car up until this point it is not worth the dealing with such a horrible company. I am getting rid of my car immediately and I would never recommend to anyone to buy a Kia.
I purchased a 2011 Kia Soul on May 24th. I have received the New Vehicle Purchase & Delivery Survey. I have tried to log on to the website to fill out the questionnaire. I get on the website but the user ID & password sent to me doesn’t allow me to access the site. I have tried to get to your main website to report the matter to your customer service department but the website comes up not found.Any ideas on how I can complete the survey online will be most welcome. Thanks.
Traded in 2012 Kia for 2014 KIA at Jeff Belzers Lakeville MN. They brought the 2014 to my home. On January 22nd 2015, KIA had loud tick to the motor. Contacted Jeff Belzers the following day. They gave me no help said they would get back to me. I had to climb the ladder. Still no help on the issue. On February 9th I took it in to Bill Barth of Mandan. They contacted KIA, ran the tests that was necessary, the KIA only had 1000 miles on it, was a brand new 2014 Kia. Came back they found that the motor wasnt bored out and cleaned out right. So the motor has to be changed out and replaced. Been calling KIA affairs since January 13th 2015 now it is January 27th still the run around. Being passed through their agents having a car that Im paying for that I cant drive. It has been over a month so KIA customer affairs are no help. They arent doing the job for the customer.
Returning home from Military School my Kia Niro broke down. Waited 5 hours in 6 degree weather to get my car towed on a Sunday. Closest Kia Dealer closed and no car rentals close. They offered no option. I Ubered to the airport. Got a rental to finish the remaining 7 hours of a 13 hour trip. Exhausted. Hungry. Once home began the work of what’s wrong with my car, getting the rental paid and how do I get it back. It took TWO MONTHS to get my car back. The diagnosis? Manufacturer error and no specific reasoning why my car suffered a break down no one could figure out until a technician was finally sent out to take a look. Couldn’t figure it out so just did a ‘hard reset’ and then it was fixed. No idea what the problem was though AND THEN it had physical body damage and before I drove it off the lot, called Mr. Charles ** (case representative) to figure out how to rectify this. Said there’s nothing he can do. His job is to reunite me with the car not the quality of service done on the vehicle. I am abhorred with how I’ve been treated every step of the way. The reliability of KIA CONSUMER OVERALL is not even worth 1 star. My car is not reliable and neither is Kia’s customer service. Save yourself the two months of heartache I just went through and hundreds of dollars out of pocket I won’t be reimbursed.
I purchased a 2014 Kia Soul Base from Halleen Kia in North Olmsted Ohio and recently received a recall notice from Kia concerning a Pinion Gear issue that could result in a crash because the plug that was adhered at manufacturing was done incorrectly. I promptly called halleen to set an appointment because I happened to have the day off and received a recall notice. I called to set an appointment and was told that they could not get me into service until next week. I was then told that this is only a problem as the car ages (which is very concerning since I recently switched from Toyota to Kia and I was a loyal Toyota owner for many many many years and this is a concern because I tend to keep cars for 8-9 years and over 100K miles)... I hope I have not made a bad purchase in purchasing a Kia and making the switch... In the past the Halleen Kia departments have been A-1. I hope this is an isolated issue and I hope that service will continue to be 5 Star.
I had made mention to the sales manager, Nick **, after I had purchased my KIA Soul (2013) new(!) that I had this rough idling when I am at a stop light and/or a stop sign. I was told to make an appointment with their Service Dept. which I did on Jan. 10th. At first, I was told they couldnt find the issue (just idling, not in gear), but I explained to them they need to be in gear, drive it, and at a light - this would follow in just a minute. They did say that it did do this, and did a diagnosis to see if they could pinpoint the issue. But having to see what KIA would come back with, Bert who did this, the Dealership Crown KIA Service Dept told Matt who contacted me, that this was a normal operation for this type of engine? And now, nothing, it seems to be direct on how this was going to end or follow up for a fix and/or repair? Case # is ** and the contact person Ive been dealing with is Melinda. The dealership now tells me there is nothing to do or repair according to KIA manufacturer. Ive driven other Souls at other dealership, and they dont do this? Im just asking to have this fixed, as this is not the way the car should run.
This 2003 Kia spectra has had nothing but problems in the last 2 years. It started with the wiring on the tail lights being faulty and having to have them repaired so I would have brake lights. Then had to have solenoid A replaced. 5 sensors replaced because of corrosion. Now when I start to drive, the car is having a violent jerk backward...Very scary!!! So now I am taking it back in to have the mass air flow sensor cleaned. Pray for me that this works because Im out of money and days I can take off. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
My wife took our car to Kia for a performance issue. Under the warranty, they repaired the issue which was a cylinder coil but told her that the MotorCraft spark plugs used by Jiffy Lube in her last tune-up would have to be replaced at our cost. They told her we would have to pay to have the proper Champion/KIA plugs installed. According to MotorCraft, these are the proper spark plugs for her make and model. Will they next be telling me what brand of motor oil to use when I get an oil change? I thought it was illegal to force someone to buy specifically branded parts.
2012 I purchased Kia Ceed 29,000 miles from Kia garage with one previous owner. Issues with the gears stiff, failing to engage the garage and web info said this is normal. The problem increased. Car became unsafe to drive. I requested the garage to investigate. The garage has now confirmed the clutch and flywheel (plus) other components have broken. Kia head office has refused to fix the car under the warranty stating wear and tear. The garage is refusing to do the work - cost of repair is 1000. The garage is also stating this kind of failure happens with low mileage. Head office stated poor driving caused the problem. As you can gather I am not impressed with the service provided by Kia, or the car! Has anyone else had a similar issue, or could offer advice?
Purchased a car, went to pick it up and close the deal. Said the car was moved offsite, they could not find it. Then they found it but could not start it, it was the battery, no then it was the fuel pump. They bring up a higher priced model and said take it or leave it. I had to have a car, they knew it. Then hidden in the lease and never disclosed is a $400 termination fee. I argue, they say they never disclose this after all it is 3 years away. Arrogant and unprofessional, might as well have been on a used car lot with bare light bulbs shining. Three letters and many phone calls to the owners, not a return - nothing. How about I am sorry. Stay away from this dealer.
The car was sitting in my daughters driveway. When she went out to leave her house she got in and prior to starting the car she heard a large bang and then the left front tire went flat within seconds. AMA were called to attend and replace the tire with the spare. The AMA towing operator was unable to remove the tire as the exploded spring portion was embedded in the sidewall of the tire. The car was towed to Big O Tires in Westbank BC where they removed the tire and discovered the coil spring sticking through the tire. Thank God for BIG O as Kia would not do a thing. The car is 2010 and was out of warranty and although the part failed in a very premature period the KIA people were impossible to deal with. They said I could send the car to them and they would replace the springs at a cost of approx $860.00. There is no way I could even consider sending the car to them as they were not even concerned about the potential for injury or death relating to an in motion failure of this nature. There is no way that this is the first failure of this kind for them and for me to allow them to replace the springs with a product that displayed this type of failure was not going to happen. Bottom line DONT BUY A KIA. They are rude and dont care enough to address serious problems that could have cost my daughter her life. There will never be another KIA in our household and hope others will follow. My daughter had just moved to Kelowna to attend school and thankfully the spring did not fail while going through the mountains.
I have had 4 Kias now, 2012 Rio and 2014 Soul both 4 years, 2017 Sportage and 2014 Optima. No problems with any of them but we are low mileage drivers. A word of warning, there are recalls on the 2011 to 2014 4 cylinder engines for failure. Also, get your oil changed at the Kia dealer, their filters are very good and have a unique property of allowing oil to pass thru on start up. Do not use 5w20 in over 60F weather, its a government scam to get better gas mileage, use the owners manual to determine what viscosity you should use, during the winter I let them put in their 5w20, during the summer I insist on 5w30. I hope not to have the problems I have read about. Good luck.
I purchased my 2014 Kia Sorento after it was a leased vehicle for two years. I was thrilled at the beginning until halfway through year 2 of owning it ALL of my paint started peeling off of the roof and the sides of the windshield. After fighting Kia for months and them denying that anything with their paint is faulty and taking it to numerous repair shops I got it painted for the low low price of $1,000. I then had the OTHER side of my windshield start peeling less than 2 weeks after I got the driver side painted resulting in me having to fight with Kia again. I have been fighting this battle since June of 2018 and am still waiting for my reimbursement check from consumer affairs for the first round of repainting. They apparently keep forgetting to hit their magical process button for my check as that is the excuse Ive now received 3 times from them. DO NOT BUY ONE OF THEIR CARS. The paint is not properly applied and is not thick enough and will start peeling just before year 4 of owning the car. Kia will tell you they only insure their paint job for 3 years and that you are out of luck. This product is faulty and they are not willing to do anything except turn you away and not acknowledge the problem. Terrible company.
Kia brand vehicle has to many mechanical issues, especially if the car is used. Those made before 2017 all have the same issues, and are NOT recommended as a good car in Consumer Report magazine. The 2 wheel drive models are too loose on the road and difficult to control. I actually had to change the way I drove since I always had a 4 wheel drive previously to my Kia purchase. The car is light despite its size and in a strong wind will move across the road so you have to fight to keep control or weigh down the back of the vehicle with sand or Kitty Liter in the back trunk.
I went into Kia for a recall on the engine Sept 2017. On Jan 2018 the engine dies out on me. I get the worse customer service in the world. I never get calls back. I made a complaint to an employee and he tells me it will be approved for a new engine and he will call me back by the end of the day to let me know when the loaner car is ready for me. 4 days later I get a call saying they have a rental car ready for me to pick up when Im ready. I go in to find out I have to pay $200 deposit out of my pockets. I dont understand how my car engine blows out because of the recall and now I have to pay $200 for a rental car? Kia should provide me with a loaner car or pay that themselves.
2013 KIA RIO5 SX, 77,000 miles. August 6, 2018. Driver side passenger door, electric window would not go down. Took to KIA dealer & found out the sound barrier material that was glued to inside of door was falling apart & jamming window. Dealer checked all 4 doors & found the drivers door sound barrier material was also falling apart. Dealer said no replacement is available. Dealer removed sound barrier material in drivers door and driver side passenger door. Mileage is over the 60,000 mile warranty so I was charged $186.03. I called KIA 800-333-4542 & opened case 12821760. KIA said car was out of warranty & there is nothing they can do. This car is well maintained & never in an accident. This sound barrier material should not have failed in under 5 years.
Purchased a 2016 Kia Sorrento with only 49,880 miles. Carfax said it had 30 days and over 10,000 miles of powertrain warranty. Needs a engine and Kia is stating that their internal date was different and I was 2 weeks out of time but the Kia was at the dealership for a week and so I called to ask for some help. They said that they have a goodwill program since it just ran out but only in their internal system which I have ask for that info and had no response, and as you see by the 1 star they do not want to help in my case....
I purchased one of the first 2011 Sorento vehicles. It has the worst ride an SUV could have. It is so rough that it is hard to keep it on the road when I drive it. They upgraded the shocks in the 4th quarter on all the newer Sorento. They tell me they have no plans of upgrading the old ones. This is not right! They know that there is a problem if they updated the new ones. They need to take care of their customers.
Everyone I know that has a Kia seems to have a problem with the car cranking but not turning over. It is the CRANKSHAFT SENSOR. I hope this helps. Its about $60 at Autozone - on my 2005 is located under the belts on the passenger side.
Kia took an extra payment after a payoff was done. I called to have them refund the extra balance. First agent told me that it would be sent to the correct address. It did not. Forward a month later, called again to ask where it was. They sent to wrong address. Had the agent request a stop payment and send to correct address. Told me she did. Forward a month. Asked where the check was and the agent told me they never processed. Had the call escalated to two Incompetent Managers one which was named Julie. Julie started the conversation trying to act tough to get me off the phone. Told me to wait another half a month to get my money back. Funny thing is if I didnt make payments on the car guess who would be calling me for money. Im doing the exact same thing to get my money back. Julie then proceeded to get snarky and ended the conversation by hanging up on me. What a tool.
I brought my 2009 Kia to the dealership for a free upgrade on the covers for the back of the rear seats. And they also completed a free ECM upgrade according to Kias recommendations, without consulting me before doing so because Kia states that they have the right to do any and all upgrades without asking the owner of the vehicle while the vehicle is on their property and being serviced. I wouldnt have stopped them before or after, why should I, any free upgrade for my vehicle is great... but about a week or so later, my transmission started jerking when the automatic transmission downshifted from 2nd gear to 1st gear. I brought it back to the dealer and they said that since there were no warning lights or codes for the problem, they didnt know what to do. So they waited for info from their tech line. Time went by so I made an appointment for them to check my transmission fluid level again. Being it’s a sealed transmission, I am not qualified to check it and according to Kia Corporation, this transmission fluid in the V-8 is Lifetime, no regular changing is needed. The fluid costs around $80 a quart!!!!! Really???I brought my Kia Borrego to the dealer for the appt to check the transmission fluid level and the service manager said that they couldnt check the level until I prepaid for a couple of quarts of fluid due to the high price of it per quart and also that they didnt have any at the dealership and would have to special order it and receive the fluid before they checked the transmission fluid level. Im fuming! So, I politely with a smile showed the service manager their maintenance service checklist that they performed on my vehicle when they did the ECM upgrade. On it, it says that they checked all fluid levels and checked my transmission fluid level and it was signed. The service manager quickly declined saying they couldnt check it and didnt check it. So they were falsifying documents by saying that they did but now they dont. A few days later I made an appointment to talk to the Owner of the dealership. And after a bunch of defying belief of my issue, he supposedly bypassed the service manager and asked the mechanic directly if he checked the fluid and the answer was yes. Hmm, as for the hard jerking of the transmission, the Owner says that that is normal, most Kia vehicles downshift hard. He said that his Kia downshifts hard!! Its getting deeper. So I brought my Kia to a different dealership in a different city and their solution, remove the transmission and a used transmission was installed due to my extended warranty outside of Kia. A few months later, the hard downshifting starts again, mostly when the motor is cold, not from the weather, just after setting for a while. I brought it back to that dealership and they reset it back to its norm and made it worse. Now it’s doing the hard jerking all the time at the 2 to 1 downshift. From the get go, I told both dealerships and warranty people my thoughts and I blamed it on the ECM upgrade. Why would two transmissions give me that same problem?? My original transmission had around 90,000 miles. The used one had 30,000 miles. Ive put over 4,000 miles on the used one. Im waiting on answers from the second dealership on how they plan to correct this problem again. Im tired of all of this. I want my vehicle repaired correctly. I have an extended warranty up to 100,000 miles and a 1 year warranty on the used transmission that is in the Kia Borrego now. Any ideas or help will be greatly appreciated.
I really dont have a problem w/ the Service Dept. They are trying to help me. I bought my 2015 Kia Sorento back in 3-14. I have had it in for numerous problems from engine sticking when in cruise control & slipping when you take off & for a water leak that doesnt seem to ever go away! It has been in for service over 7 times! They cant seem to find the transmission sticking. But it definitely does it. They told me it seems to be normal for the car??? Really... Ive had a 2015 Sorento loaner for over a week & it doesnt stick at all. Ive brought that up & they look at me like I have a 2nd head! Ive asked them if they changed the engine again from the 2015 to 2016? They said, No. But Ive notice it gets better gas mileage & has more pick up & go. I dont feel safe in my 2015 Sorento. I live in the Atlanta so I need a vehicle that can go when I hit the gas. Yes Im well aware that its only a 4-cylinder but the loaner I have is two & its a great car. Ive had no problems w/ the sticking or slipping transmission!
I am totally disgusted by your recent commercials advertising Kia cars. I can choose what television shows come into my home but I cant choose the commercials. You shouldnt be allowed to put such crap on TV. I would never buy one of your cars!
I bought a 2011 Kia Rio5 in the spring of 2011 from Kia Sudbury. Since then Ive had nothing but horror from the vehicle and nothing but the same problem over and over again. I spent 24.000 and the car is breaking from new to now with the same continuous problems. Ive had the mechanic at Sudbury Kia dent my car while being serviced and they denied it. Sudbury Kia does not sell the tires for the Car they sold me. They also do not offer wheel alignments which is sad when you want your winter tires out in or your alignment set after they do the inner barring 3 times on the same tire. Even after an alignment at Fountain Tire in Sudbury, My 2011 Kia Rio5 has blown 6 coil packs and a cylinder update from 30000 and till now. New radio 2 weeks after buying the car. Because the button paint cracked all over the deck Ive had the same cobweb in my rpm gauge because Kia Sudbury didnt want to take the dash apart after me just buying the car and noticing it shortly after. My inner barring has blown 3 times on the front passenger side of the car. The car wont stay aligned. Ive had Sudbury Kia Fix the lights in the interior of the car and got oil all over the roof and didnt install the right light and broke the other one and now it hangs there only because the guy couldnt put the light back into the ceiling of the car. The back latch on the car locked up because of a piece of foam Kia seals the back lock with. The foam breaks after a while and gets stuck in the door, leaving you without a rear door.If you boost the car it blows the fuses for the radio and lights, it doesnt start in the cold and if you turn the key every 20 seconds when it doesnt start it will eventually start. When that happened I brought my car to Kia Sudbury and they couldnt help me unless my car didnt start, which it didnt thats why I was bringing it to them, but no help at all. The car is no good on gas. If youre on the highway, the 4th gear stays on too long which leaves you burning gas a lot, the car now is almost finished at 115000. The car is not good and unreliable and costly. Kia damaged my car and didnt help me at all with getting to what was the problem. They just covered it up. My car is now a really loud, misfiring riding pop can that costs a lot.
2003 Kia Sorento - I used our savings money and paid cash for our Kia and it only had 4,000 miles on it. Now, it has 53,000 and it needs a new engine. The wrist pin went out on it. Well I thought we had a warranty on it, 100,000 miles or 10 years. Wrong! They told me my warranty ran out in 2008 and I bought it in 2005. I am so mad about this because I am on disability and I don’t have the money to put a motor in it and I think it shouldn’t have needed one anyway. This car still looks brand new inside and out and has been taken care of. So now, I have a beautiful car that’s paid for and doesn’t run! A motor should last longer than 8 years. I love my Kia but I don’t like they wouldn’t do something about it! I will never buy a Kia again. My daughter just bought a 2013 Kia Sorento because she loved mine. I sure hope her engine runs well!
I love my Kia Rio. It gets great gas mileage. I bought it used, but I will be getting a 2014 Kia Rio 5 door this fall.
The 2006 Kia Optima has 97,000 miles. Now, it has a transmission problem. Kia wants to pay for labor only and stated the transmission fluid used is not in the handbook. Manufacturer sent list to show that the fluid is for Kia. Still, they are refusing to pay. I told the Kia dealer to go ahead and fix the car, but I still like Kia to honor its warranty obligation. Please help.
As a summary - last year, my 3 year young Kia Soul, with less than 30,000 miles had a check engine issue. The check engine light would go on, and the car would not go more than 5 mph. It was brought to multiple dealerships, and engineers from Kia were brought in to assess the car - with no resolution. I was without a car, and not offered a rental car, for a total of one month. For one month, I had to find rides to and from my job, because of Kias incompetency and clearly defective product. It was the most unprofessional experience I have ever had with such a young, low mileage car. It was a few days/few miles shy of falling under the NY State Lemon Law, so perhaps this horrific series of events will warn others against doing business this awful company.Heres the Order of Absurd Events from Last Year: Sunday, May 17: I left my house and got about 1 block away. I stopped at a stop sign, and the “check engine” light came on. I then proceeded through the stop sign in order to pull over and realized that my car would not go more than 5 MPH. I turned around and (very slowly) made my way back home.Monday, May 18: I called Kia to have my car towed to the dealership. The closest dealership to my house is Generation Kia located in Bohemia, N.Y. At about 10 a.m. the tow truck showed up and my husband and I drove to the dealership in order to fill out any necessary paperwork. We were told that we would receive a phone call with an update as soon as they looked at the car.Wednesday, May 20: I received a phone call that the car was ready to be picked up. They had supposedly changed the “throttle body and gasket” and performed a “multipoint walk around inspection on vehicle.” I drove the car home with no problems. When I got home, my father opened the hood to see that the engine was shaking and looked very old and dusty, and not how the engine of a three year old car should look after being brought in for service.Friday, May 22: I went to leave my house at 8:30 a.m. to go to work and when I started my car, the “check engine” light was back on. The car was brought back to Generation Kia in Bohemia, N.Y. I was told I would receive a phone call once they figured out what was wrong with it. On Saturday morning, my husband called the dealership asking for an update – at which point the dealership confused him with a different customer. Once they figured out who he was, he was told that they had “no idea what was wrong with the car.” He was also promised a rental car if they still couldn’t figure it out by the next week. Monday, May 25 was a holiday and the dealership was closed.Tuesday, May 26: After numerous phone calls to the dealership, we were finally told that they changed the electrical connectors and the check engine light was now off. They also told me that their mechanic was going to “take the car home tonight and drive it around to see if the check engine light comes back on.” I found this to be extremely unprofessional and did not want a stranger taking my car home with them. I went and picked up the car after work. I received a survey from Kia regarding my experience with the Generation Kia dealership, and expressed how unsatisfactory their service was. I had to constantly call them for updates, after being promised that they would call me.I was promised a rental car one day, and then a few days later was told that they “didn’t have any loaner cars” and that they never promised one to me. In addition, the woman answering the phones at the dealership was rude, constantly sent our phone calls back to herself instead of to the mechanics, and told my husband that it was, “not her job” to see if the mechanic was available to take his call.Monday, June 15: I drove my car to work without any issues. At 5:00 p.m. I went into the car, started it up, and the “check engine” light immediately came on. I drove the car around the parking lot and found that it, again, would not go more than 5 mph. My husband picked me up and I called Kia Consumer Affairs to see where I should go from here. I expressed the fact that I did not want to return to Generation Kia in Bohemia, N.Y. due to their unprofessional antics – and after learning that the Dealership was being sued for fraud. I asked if I could have the car towed to a different dealership. I spoke with a gentleman who said that he completely understood, and mentioned that I could have the car towed to Smithtown Kia – which is where I actually purchased the car – even though it was a slightly further distance than the other dealership. He told me to, “get the car towed there as soon as possible,” and that “Kia will probably have one of their engineers go look at the car since this is the third time it’s being taken to the dealership.” He confirmed – explicitly – that this was the third occurrence, and I confirmed that it was the third time in about 5 weeks that the same issue surfaced and was not resolved.Tuesday, June 16: I had the car towed to Smithtown Kia. Wednesday, June 17: I called Kia Consumer Affairs to find out whether Smithtown Kia should be working on the vehicle, or if they should wait for Kia’s “engineer” to visit and look at the vehicle. I spoke with a different gentleman who explained that he “could not tell me either way what to do.” He mentioned that my case had been “escalated,” and that I needed to speak with my “case analyst.” He then asked if I received a call from the analyst, and I told him I had not. He told me that her name was Bernice **, and offered me her phone number.I called Bernice at 11:51 a.m. and left a message on her voicemail. A few hours later, I called Bernice again and she answered the phone. She said she was waiting to receive the “vehicle repair history” that she requested from the dealership. I asked her when I can expect to hear back from her. She said “if she gets the repair history today, and speaks to the district representative, hopefully within the next two days, they will be able to look at the vehicle.” Bernice called me at 4:12 p.m. and left a voicemail stating that she had contacted Generation Kia in Bohemia, N.Y., and they informed her that the vehicle was not there. I immediately e-mailed Bernice at the address that she left on my voicemail and told her that my Kia Soul was at Smithtown Kia in Saint James, N.Y.Thursday, June 18: I called Bernice and left a message to let her know, again, that my Kia Soul was at Smithtown Kia in Saint James, N.Y. I mentioned in the e-mail that “My car has been sitting at Smithtown Kia for 3 days waiting for an Engineer from Kia Corporation to take a look at it.” Bernice called me back at 11:37 a.m. and left a voicemail. She stated that she received my messages that the car was located at Smithtown Kia. She contacted them and spoke with Bill. She told them to do a “full diagnosis of the vehicle” and to open up a “tech hotline case” with their techs out in California for assistance if needed. She said, “at that point, once we do have a full diagnosis and been assisted by ‘tech line,’ if your concerns are not resolved at that point, we will then dispatch a field technical rep to the dealership.” She goes on to say that once a diagnosis is made and if the field technical rep is required, they can look into providing me with alternative transportation from their “district parts and services manager.”At 12:30 p.m. I contacted Smithtown Kia and spoke with Tom. He asked if Bill could call me back. At 1:15 p.m., Eric with Smithtown Kia called and said that Bernice did call them to tell them that they could begin working on the vehicle. He said as soon as his master mechanic can get to it, he will look at it. I asked him to please let me know once he looks at it. He said he absolutely will, and that he would be personally overseeing everything.Friday, June 19: I spoke with Eric from Smithtown Kia. He said the vehicle is performing perfectly, but they realize there is still a problem. He said they were working with “tech line,” as Bernice mentioned in her voicemail on June 18, and that they had been going back and forth with tech line all day long. He said they were taking the vehicle for a test drive to see if the “check engine” light would come on for them. After receiving no return phone calls or e-mails from Bernice, I e-mailed a summary of the situation to Amy **, Shamit **, Scott **, Karla ** and copied Bernice **, hoping that some of the people at Kia headquarters would be better able to assist. I received no response from anyone.Saturday, June 20: I received a call from Eric with Smithtown Kia. He said that unfortunately he did not have an update for me. The car was still performing perfectly, he was working with tech line, but the issue was not yet resolved. Eric and Smithtown Kia were extremely patient and polite and were the only people that actually called me back throughout this month-long ordeal.Tuesday, June 23: Bernice called me at 5:00 p.m. She said she spoke to the Smithtown Dealership and requested a field tech. He will “hopefully” be there in 2 days, on Thursday. She was unable to schedule the tech previously because their process is to have the dealership look at vehicle, work with tech, and then schedule a field tech rep. She did not ask dealership for rental car and put me on hold to find out if I was approved for one. She came back and said that I was FINALLY approved for a rental up to $40/day. I could get a car at any rental facility. Once repairs were completed, I would be reimbursed with a check from Kia. It would take 3 weeks to get reimbursed. I asked her when I can expect to hear back. She said if the field tech goes on Thursday, she will call and let me know. If he has to go later than Thursday she will call and let me know that as well.Thursday, June 25: I received a phone call from Paul ** who said he was with Kia Motors American Corporation Headquarters located in Irvine, CA. He apologized that it took so long for them to approve me for a rental car. I mentioned that I was told I would be reimbursed for up to $40 per day, but that unfortunately, in New York, I could only find rental cars for about $55 per day after taxes and fees. He said $55 per day was reasonable and I could go ahead and get a rental car for that amount and still be reimbursed. He mentioned that the field technical representative was working on the car – that their field technicians are highly experienced and that my car was in good hands. He said to contact him with any questions or issues.Friday, June 26: The Smithtown Kia Dealership called and said that the highly experienced field technical representative had been working on my car all day Thursday. Unfortunately, these highly experienced folks still could not find the problem, so they wanted to put a “flight recorder” into the vehicle, so that the next time my car breaks down (how reassuring), I would have to push a button and it would record the data so that they can HOPEFULLY see what’s going wrong, and POSSIBLY fix it. Because, doesnt everyone want to drive an unreliable car that at any point will break down and leave you stranded?THE END. Im sorry to say that this issue was never resolved. I got rid of the clearly defective Kia Soul and purchased another vehicle - from another company. I will never purchase another product from Kia. They are unprofessional, they dont stand behind their products, and clearly do not care about their customers safety or well-being.
The 2002 kia spectra may run but asthetically is poor. both seat belt buckles have broken off. the arm rest has broken off. the seat has broken. the passenger door will not open from the inside because the handle is broken. the dash is buckling up around the defrost vents. the ac has stuck on heat before because of an easily tripped switch under the dash and now the ac is stuck on defrost and wont change back to the vents.
I bought a Kia Sorento based on their claims of safety and all the airbags they have. In Dec I was in an unfortunate accident. Luckily my children were not in the vehicle. I was hit from all sides by multiple vehicles. NOT ONE AIR BAG deployed. The passenger side doors were on the seats and the frame between the front and back seats was split in half (right where there is an airbag). Kia said that in this situation the airbags are not designed to deploy when hit in that fashion. So they are claiming no fault. The vehicle was totaled. If Kia is so safe with all their airbags and I was T-boned and hit from all sides then what type of situation do you have to be hit in in order for them to deploy. DO NOT TRUST THEM.
I have only had my car for about 4 year and a couple months. I keep up with maintenance and everything. Recently, my car has been shaking, stalling and the wheel drifts to the right. It has got to the point where I do not even wanna drive this car. I brought my car to Kia and they quoted me $150 for something that needs to be replaced and told me that my tires are causing the wheel to act like it does. I still have a warranty for the car and they did not fix or replace anything. There are more problems to this car that I am not aware of. I was looking to keep this car for another two years, but looks like now I am going to have to trade it in. I a bit disappointed with Kia, I did not think I would run into so many problems so soon in the game.
To start things off, I just want to say that I WILL NEVER purchase another Kia. Back in November of 2019, I hit a deer and had to have somebody work done at my local body shop. When that was completed, I had to take it to Kia of Lincoln, NE to have the new module that was put in by the body shop reprogrammed. What was supposed to be a simple fix, Kia of Lincoln ended up having my vehicle for almost a month and a half. They also had to fly a tech in from another state to figure out what was wrong with it and why the codes wouldnt clear. They hardly ever communicated with me on what was going on and when Id call in to get an update, they would have to call me back or say that they were still trying to figure out the problem. When I finally got it back, it seemed to function as it should. However, that didnt last long though. There was a several times where I would have sensor lights come on and the vehicle would act up. The most recent occurrence was when I was driving home from work and a bunch of sensor lights came on, my cruise control quit working and I had to pull over on the side of the interstate. I ended up having to shut my vehicle off and when I started it back up, it wouldnt shift out of park. I had to have it towed to a Kia dealership in Grand Island, NE the following day to see if they could diagnose the problem. They werent able to duplicate the vehicle not being able to shift out of park, but they did find that the module that was supposed to be reprogrammed when Kia of Lincoln had it, was never done correctly. This is why the sensor lights kept coming on. I ended up having a bill that I was told that I was responsible for since the issue was not covered under warranty due to it being related to the accident. I reached out to the dealership in Lincoln several times and they basically told me that they did everything correctly and that there wasnt anything else that they could do. This is when I decided to contact Kia Consumer Services to see if they could help me out. I explained what was going on to them and was told that Id get a call back the next day. A few days passed by and I still hadnt heard anything. I ended up calling back a little over a week later to find out that my case had been turned over to someone else. No one bothered to let me know once again. I reached out to them again a few days later to get some answers and was told by the person that I spoke with that it wasnt their problem, so I needed to contact my insurance company I had at the time of the accident. He also hung up on me after he proceeded to say that he wasnt going to argue with me. So, I contacted them see if they would help me out. I finally received an answer back and they agreed to cover the bill after they had already paid for the vehicle to be fixed correctly the first time when Kia of Lincoln had it. I think the part that irritates me the most is, the dealership that didnt fix it correctly the first time wouldnt even help me out and they are the same dealership that I purchased my vehicle from. Its going on a month now and Im still without my vehicle. Ive had to drive other peoples to get to and from when this could of easily been taken care of within a matter of a few days.
I have received my 2nd safety recall on my 2010 KIA Soul which I bought brand new at Terry Reid KIA in Cartersville, GA. I had to relocate to Green Valley, AZ in 7/13 to come under the treatment of a highly specialized physician after becoming extremely ill as I was unknowingly put into a hazardous toxic mold environment at a resort which we eventually found behind all the wallpapered areas -- this facility had been infested with this toxic molds, come to find out, for years with no action being taken. I am now multi-chemically sensitive and cannot be in any dealerships where there are smells and odors as it will complicate my situation even further. I was just directly exposed to poisonous pesticides at my complex as management did not put up advance warnings as to when these would be used around my building and have been extremely ill as a result. I have a KIA Soul which must be repaired and am unable to get it to the closest dealership (over 1 hr one-way from me) due to my health conditions, and this will take at least 3 hours to repair. I have emailed KIA Consumer Services to get my car towed into Jim Click KIA in Tucson to get this unsafe situation fixed. I would have to stay with my vehicle in an environment that I cannot be in as this is being repaired; no one to pick me up here, etc. So, we will wait and see what KIA will do to help me with this dilemma.
I just wanted to share my story. We bought a 2014 Kia. Shortly after my purchase I discovered I was charged $2100 extra for a service contract (100000 mile warranty). We put a large sum down on the car and would have only owed around $6000. When I checked my paperwork turned out I owed $8000. The dealer had charged me for an extended warranty that I didnt want. So I had to return in person to Cancel after almost two months - the dealer finally sent Kia finance a check for $2100 dollars. So I called Kia finance and ask them to adjust my payments - didnt owe as much money on the car and they told me they would not redo the payments because I agreed to the original payment. I had never heard of anything so asinine in my whole life. Turns out we had to get the car refinanced to lower the payment. What a bunch of rude jerks. They wanted me to pay the same payment on a lower balance!
I have a 2009 Kia Borrego. I had to replace first engine because it was filled with sludge. I contacted Kia dealership and was told I didnt have a warranty and they wouldnt replace the engine. I had the warranty in my hand and was couldnt believe this was happening. I bought the Kia for its warranty and now Im being punished. So after getting nowhere with Kia except they said they fired the salesman because he was misleading other customers as well. I got nowhere, just a warranty to look at not use. I bought a rebuilt Kia engine costing after labor 8000 and off I drove again. Not even a year later same problem, oil not holding and sludge in the engine.... what do I do now - put engine #3?
I purchased my 3rd Kia in Sept 2021. A 2022 Stinger GT. I found out on Friday, 12/31/21 that the transmission needs to be replaced. (Less than 8k miles). My appt was at 11am and they were closing at 4pm that day. By 3pm, when I had still not heard anything from my Service Advisor, I went back up to the dealership. The car wasnt currently being looked at or worked on, and yet no one had bothered to call and deliver the awful news. Nor did they even attempt to call the Tech Line and get authorization for a rental car. This was on a Friday, so I was without my car over the weekend. I called my Service Advisor back on Monday morning at 9:30 am (knowing he wouldnt be reaching out to me first). I was then told that the tech line doesnt open until 11am our time and they will have to authorize a rental car. But Hertz may not have anything available. I will NEVER purchase another Kia, that is for sure.
Our 2015 Kia Sorento is sitting with a seized engine and Kia is NOT covering it (even with an extended warranty). They want to charge us between $7000 and $8000 to fix it! After doing lots of research we find out this is the exact same defect that exists in the 2014, 2013 and 2012 which were all recalled by the way! What will it take to recall this?
I have been really pleased with the Kia Niro EV - it’s got all the Safety features that you can get, coupled with numerous convenience features, all in a very sporty package (looks and performance). The huge bonus: not only have I saved on my gas bill each month, but my wife loves this car too, so we’re saving on her gas bill too! Thanks Kia!!
A part was replaced by Kia when the car was under warranty and now, it is not working again. The car just ran out of warranty by 2,000 miles. Now, Kia states the warranty just ran out and they will not cover it. The district manager for Kia Motors is a J. **--not friendly or courteous. The Kia Motors customer service guy is uneducated and cannot read one note. He was confused and unresponsive. At first, they said they will cover a part of the repair, but now, they are saying that they will not and they never offered to even help. Dont buy a Kia.
I brought my car in for 15,000 miles maintenance. Alignment way off; told me they couldnt fix it 100%. I asked why and they said something must be bent. I asked them what? They replied they didnt know. Told me I had recall for front right axle. They had to order the part and would recheck wear on tires to see if their incomplete alignment caused any issues. So about a month later I brought it back in and they said wear was fine, replaced right front axle and I had hope that was the reason the alignment couldnt be fixed 100%. They knew I was going on over 2,000 mile trip for sons wedding. I have no shimmy, although alignment isnt 100%, it still seems to be okay. About 100-150 miles from destination, have EMTs pull up on right side of my car and roll down their window. We roll down ours and they point to my passenger rear tire and then angle their arm. We pull off immediately and sure as heck my passenger rear tire is bent inward at top, around 11 oclock. I drive 50 mph rest of way, check alignment and Im not pulling any worse than before. I call Kia Roadside assistance and they come tow my car to local dealership. They didnt look at my car immediately, but had only had it 2 hours and call me and let me know that my front passenger strut is bent (Why didnt the dealership notice this when they replaced the axle on that side, or when they couldnt correct the alignment 100%). If it took this dealership less than 2 hours to find the bent right strut, why didnt they find it? Why didnt they look. Supposedly going to cost me $680 plus tax to fix (Not under warranty... WHY??). I hit nothing, I ran over nothing. Is this possibly a recall issue, or should be a recall issue and due to strut being bent, it bent my back right tire inward. Supposedly once strut is replaced and car is realigned, my passenger rear tire will straighten out. Im not stupid. Maybe because Im female they think I am, but Ive worked on cars for over 25 years. Im betting that my rear passenger tie rod is bent. I even mentioned it at the dealership, in the service department, but they are adamant that itll be fixed once the strut is replaced and the car is realigned. They have already said that they could tell I didnt run over or hit anything, so why am I paying out of pocket anyway? Isnt it supposed to be under warranty? If the tie rod is bent, isnt that the fault of the dealership that did my original alignment and told me that they thought something might be bent, but didnt look for it? Then again when they replaced the passenger front axle (recall) and didnt notice it and still couldnt get it aligned? Shouldnt they pay for this? Im frustrated and angry, first for them treating me like Im stupid because Im a girl and girls dont know anything about cars... BS, and then when Im suggesting itll be more than just the strut, telling me that Im not qualified (another way to say that Im a girl and girls dont know anything about cars) to think that..... And they are the experts, yet they didnt even look for what they thought was bent. I mean they literally said we think something is bent and then didnt look for it. Whats wrong with that picture? Annoyed, from California and Stuck in Illinois until my car is fixed!!!
They gave me power of attorney to someone elses car!!! Im financing two vehicles. I got married & changed my last name. Dmv wont do a name change because I dont have the vehicle titles. Which is obvious. AAA & DMV both said financing company needs to do it. Kia refuses to do so. They sent me limited power of attorney for both cars for me to take to DMV to do by myself. Aside that DMV cant accept it. It actually turns out they sent me a power of attorney for someone elses car? Wth!!On top of that they tell me I need to wait another 10-14 business days to wait for it to be corrected. Plus I need to call back Monday, because its Friday evening & the department who issues this forms is closed. I have to call a 5th time to request a new & corrected power of attorney with my correct vehicle information. Plus send a written request for them to send the title to DMV. Which takes 10-14 days for the request. Horrible service & customer service. Worst finance company ever! Who sends out a power attorney to a strangers car. Scary that such information would be released like nothing and take no responsibility for such mistake. Violation of privacy and confidential information.
I purchase a New Kia Sorento from Kia Destination in Feb, 2014, I wanted fog lights put on it and at that time I thought I get a car starter and wait until the weather got better before putting them in. As I was told it would be no problem putting them in BUT they didnt tell me I had to change the wiring Harness because it was not wired for fog lights and would cost a great deal of money. I called Kia Corporation because Kia sales Employee Misrepresented me and Kia. And they should be responsible for the sales person action. Went back to Kia they said they could not do anything for me. I have 2 kia and I will never go back unless they make good on their Employees Misrepresentation..
Never buy a Kia!! And if you do expect no help from them on recall parts, Ive spoken to at least 10 people!! Half say one thing. Half say another!! Especially their specialist Jamie, he was horrible, mean in Jan almost!!! Ive been walking for three weeks and cant reach anyone at the dealer. Thats three hours away from me!!!! He acted as if he is the one whos been.
I purchased a 2018 Kia Stinger the end of June 2018 and have had nothing but grief since the purchase. Presently the car has 3200 miles on it and has been in the garage multiple times. Ive made several trips to the dealer for a trunk rattle in which they had to put shims in the slam block in the hatch to resolve the problem. Then it was back in the garage because the interior lights quit working. And several weeks ago I backed it out of the garage and shut the car off for a brief time waiting for my husband to get into the car and when he went to start the car all the lights started flashing and the car would not start and the car would not recognize that the key fob was present. I immediately called the Kia dealer and the service manager went home for the evening and no techs available but was advised to have the car towed to Kia or call roadside assistance. This episode caused us to be late for an appointment. To make a long story short the battery had to be replaced the next day interfering with plans that were made for the day. Today my car is @ the dealership once AGAIN for them to monitor a violent jerk in the car which has occurred several times and was told the fuel pump will probably need replaced! They will be keeping the car for several days. Id like to note that I have to drive 35 miles one way to the Kia dealership. A new car is suppose to be a pleasurable satisfying experience and an investment in my hard earned money. This experience of owning my first Kia has been a nightmare causing me inconvenience, stress and grief. I regret the purchase and it was not a cheap purchase. No vehicle with this amount of mileage should have so many issues like I have had. Im making payments on a car that sits in a garage being repaired every month. I often wonder how much this unreliable car will cost me in the future when warranty runs out. Id like to note on the positive side that Kias service department has been awesome through this ordeal and has expressed concern and understanding with my frustrations and their customer service at Team Kia in Johnstown, Pa. is first class.
The commercials are so inappropriate--women in barely nothing! There is enough trash on TV without you, all, adding to it! My children watch those commercials. You should wait until after they are in bed if you want those kinds of commercials! I will never buy a car for a company that needs to use scantily-dressed women as a tool to get sales.
My husband was driving to town this past Sat. He lost control of the steering and brakes. We had a mechanic take a look. The crankshaft bolt broke and the pin sheared off. So we have had this Kia for 10 months. Paid almost $13,000 for it. It had 68,000 miles. It has almost 79,000 now. The mechanic said that the pin should have lasted the life of the Kia. So I go to a United States Government web site and am horrified. There are 5 recalls, and 12 suggested service calls for repair of parts that should last the life of the vehicle. Some of the repairs state that this default could cause serious accidents. Then on further investigation I find out there is a civil suit against Kia. There are 1,000s of people experiencing this problem. The real problem is that the gear behind the harmonic stabilizer was engineered wrong. Its too heavy. So even if you get the crankshaft pin replaced it happens again. The Govt. site is Odi.nhtsa.gov and I also found info at other credited web site and by reading the class action suit, Robinson et al v. Kia Motors Inc et al., case # 13-cv-00006 US District Court, type that into the tool bar. I have tried to contact Kia at 1800-333-4542, 1800-225-3193. I have emailed Greg **, Director of Regional Affairs at ** and Kia USA. My Kia is not safe to drive. It is alleged that Kia has known about these engineering defects for a long time. Its a lot to digest. I am heartbroken and with no funds to repair this Kia. I pay for a Kia Sorento that is unsafe to drive. When the crankshaft pin broke, it did damage to the belts, harmonic balancer, gear behind harmonic balancer. The cotter pin that sheared off as well, the oil pan seal. Wow, but I feel fortunate that no one was physically hurt. Maybe Consumer Affairs should do an article about this. 1,000s of Consumers are affected. Will it take fatalities for someone to address this?
We bought a new 2016 Sorento on Thursday August 26th of this year. We then went on vacation on Sunday August 30th to Pigeon Forge TN. On Monday the 31st a pin of some kind fell out of the brake pedal. We had to have it towed 33 miles to Louisville. My wife had to ride in the wrecker to get the loaner. They did not have the part to fix it so they put a temporary part in. We then had to wait in the motel for them to deliver our car back. After getting home we took the car to our dealer and they did not have the part. We now have to wait for the part and once it is in carry our car back for repair. Thats 60 miles round trip. Two days of our vacation was wasted on this and now we have to drive a total of 120 miles to have it repaired much less our time.
Water Spots on a 2012 kia sportage - If anyone out there has an issue like this, please contact me. I would certainly like to know what to do about this.
I bought a car at Car Pros Kia. They never notified me that the car had a recall until I went for my first inspection after 3 months!!! I found out that the car that I bought was a DEMO and they never told me that. They sold it as a new car. I was so stressed out that I did not even see the miles that the car had on until the next day. I took a picture of it -- 75 miles that I did not drive!!! They wrote on my contract 8 miles!!! I trusted them and they took advantage of me. The warranty that I bought was supposed to take care of everything as the lady said from top to bottom, everything and anything and it is not true. My 3rd inspection, I will have to pay more than $400. On top of everything, they are rude. No courtesy at all. I called a sales manager called Rodrigo and he kept repeating that he was busy just because I said that I need to talk to him and he hang up on me!!! The only person that has my respect over there is the driver that took me to IKEA. Getting an attorney!
One of our customers at our shop has a 100k mile warranty on her vehicle and her Valve Body went bad at 94000 miles. It is a part that should be covered under warranty. She has kept up on all of the maintenance on her vehicle per the warranty booklet and has records to prove it. Peak Kia was awful to deal with. They suggested replacing the Transmission and that it wasnt going to be covered under warranty. The grand total was 4000 dollars. The assistant service manager was a complete jerk. He stated that if she didnt have 3 Transmission services at 30k, 60k, and 90k then her warranty was void. I read the warranty book a few times to make sure I wasnt missing anything. She was supposed to at 90k for normal driving conditions. The book stated at 30k and 60k the Transmission should be serviced if the car is driven in severe conditions. Her car is not. We have been trying to get this covered since June. I have spoke to the corporate office in July and still havent received any word from them. Completely unacceptable! She has called multiple dealers as well as corporate and has only heard back today just to tell her they are still working on it. Come on, seven months. Here is what I have gathered from the situation. Kia could care less about their customers. Kia would rather lose a customer than please a customer.
My girlfriend has a 2012 KIA Sorento. After 40000 miles the engine seized. We brought it to the dealer and they asked for service records. When we provided them they still would not honor the warranty. They said it could be improper maintenance and said we had to prove it was their fault. (Since we had gone to Firestone and a few other places for oil changes, they can now say it was their fault not KIAs and we would then have to fight a different vendor to replace the engine.)I was initially too shocked to be angry, but when they said we could pay them to take apart the motor to prove fault, I spoke to another mechanic who has dealt with this before. He said they are not likely to find anything that will prove anything either way and we will just be out an additional 500 dollars. I am now taking the only recourse I have without money for a lawyer. I am telling every outlet I can find to go with a different company. This feels like fraud to me. We did what was asked of us in the handbook and they just dont want to honor their warranty. It never says anywhere that if you dont use KIA for everything, you might as well write off your warranty. So now we are stuck without a car and with a probable 5K cost facing us because we did the right thing. It is not honest or fair that a car from 2012 with 40K miles has a dead engine. There are plenty of reviews about this type of thing on the internet. I recommend you look long and hard before falling for the same trick we did. We probably wont have a choice since there are still 3 years on the note so we cant really do anything but let them bully us. Please consider any other car before KIA. #dontbuyKIA #KIA
Since I have been able to drive I have always gotten a Kia. They are the most reliable cars on the market and they are the most flyers as well. They have all of the latest features and the miles per gallon is amazing. If you get you a Kia you will definitely have it for the long-haul.
This complaint is specific to Kia Motors Egypt. The vehicle, a 2010 model Cerato, rolled over 4 times and the airbags failed to deploy. The real tire on the passenger side burst, causing the above to occur. Kias website states the following: Ceratos standard safety protection includes dual front and side airbags, plus full length side curtain airbags to enhance the safety of driver and passenger side occupants in the event of a side impact or rollover. A Kia employee, whose name I shall not reveal, stated the following in a response: Kindly be informed that referring to your accident description and the photos you sent, the car rolled over without front impact. The front airbag system doesnt work in rollover accidents as you mentioned. The front airbag system was designed to work in the frontal accidents depending on the front impact circumstances. Kindly refer to the owners manual for non-working cases of front airbag system.
I had a 2007 Kia Sorrento. I say had because the engine blew up. Actually it failed because of a defective part in the engine. It had 90,000 miles on it and Kia refused to do anything. They should have replaced the engine at their cost but no, I suggest to split the cost with them, but no. This claim went through several levels of the corporate customer service, and they were not helpful at all. All this took weeks for them to investigate, which they actually did nothing. This should not be the way they treat customers. And let me say, I own another Sorrento, I have recommended, and friends and family have bought several Kia. No longer do they get my support.
I bought my Sorento new, it is a 2009. Running loud. It has 77K miles and the diff. rear end is bad. I cannot believe there is not a recall as many complaints as I have seen posted on the net. There needs to be a class action lawsuit! It can lock up while you are driving or explode!!! How many people have already wrecked because they just thought it was just sounding a little loud. I really thought it was just my tires or something. This is going to eventually be a giant recall like Toyota had, but as we all know it takes a few people dying first. I will keep all you Kia owners in my prayers. As for me....I am going to trade mine in for a Honda while it at least looks like it will run!
If you have a Windows Phone do not buy a Kia. They do not have an APP that works with the UVO eServices - customer service of UVO cannot help you. The best way to fix the UVO problem for Windows Phones is for Kia or Microsoft to produce an APP. It shouldnt be so difficult and it should not cost that much. When they sell you the car they do not tell you that they only have apps from Google Play and Apple Store but none from Windows.
Tower Hill Garage Chipperfield Kings Langley Hertfordshire WD4 9LR - I had my car serviced on 25 July 2012. When I went to get into my car, I noticed the driver’s seat was dirty. One of the managers walked behind me and could see I had not got into the car. I said the staff member who serviced my car must have had dirty overalls. We both could see the plastic cover that should go right over the seat was only covering the back and not the seat-base. The manager said in 20 years this has never happened at this garage, it must have happened before! I said that I do not use dirty clothing. He could clearly see how I was dressed, smartly. Also, I work in an office and have to drive smartly. The manager went on to talk about a hole in the mat, which had no bearing on what we were talking about. Then he went on to say he was happy to book it in to be cleaned, also the service manager walked past and smirked at me! The service manager originally told me when I arrived to pick up my car, to sit in the waiting area as they were having to complete my paperwork, which I later found out the car was still on the test drive, in which it had not been finished. I had to wait over 15 minutes to then pay for my car. This should have been explained to me! I am sorry to say the service manager did have a bad attitude. My conclusion to this was the garage staff did not like the fact that this is only a 22-month-old car with 11,950 miles on the clock and this was my first service and kept saying this should have been serviced, 10 months or 10,000 miles. The garage is fully aware that in the first year I had only completed 3,500 miles because I had to have an operation. Therefore, I did not see the sense in paying out good money for such small mileage. Again the garage staff were informed several times and clearly told me not to worry. All this experience has led me into - I will not be purchasing a Kia again nor will I be going back to this garage until I receive an apology and a gesture of goodwill.
For 3 months off and on my 2012 Sorento loses power while driving. I have taken it to the dealership on Columbus Ga. They dont seem to know how to fix it. First it was a throttle engine sensor. Next they repaired something to do with the brakes. Then replaced the key fob. 1100.00 paid and still not repaired.
Dont believe the warranty, just wait until your radio doesnt work and the repair department asks for hundreds of dollars to replace it. Next time, when I buy a car, Im going to look for a warranty that really is a warranty.
My 2014 Kia Sportage has had the same engine issue 4 times, forcing it to go into limp mode and has requiring a tow. Kia has assured us that it was fixed each time. This last time it happened 200 miles away, forcing me to drive out to pick up my wife. After the issue was fixed, we attempted to drive it back home only to have the same issue happen a mile down the road. Now Kia is refusing to provide us with a rental car during the time that the vehicle is being transported back to us, which could take up to 10 days. Being a family of four with two working parents, this situation is less than ideal. Kia has not proven to be reliable or trusted to make it right. They have owned the issue, but in the end they will leave you out to dry.
Supervisors very unprofessional. Also something must be wrong with dealership. I wasnt supposed to pay so much money and Kia owes me over $500. To get that $500 I fought, pull teeth. I mean they kept on changing dates on me. They kept on give me the run-around. This is Kia Financing people, Kia Financing. Theyll rip you off. Take your money and then tell you to go to hell and take a chill pill. Im a first responder from 9/11 okay and this is the way they treated me. If it was in that I just bought my car I would just trade it in or burn. People not supposed to be disrespectful like that to a customer no matter who they are Finance supervisor whatever. This Finance supervisor I hope the CEO will see this and fire you. I talked to her today. 22nd of February. Look it up. Youll find out shes a miserable individual. She told me to take a pill to relax. No its so relaxing when you disrespect somebody who served this country for 32 years. And you probably wasnt even born then. Kia Financing that will charge you an arm and a leg. Im stuck with a car paying $500 a month and I could buy probably BMW or Mercedes and pay that much. But other than that if it wasnt for the dealership done helping I wouldnt had no money to eat. Because Kia Financing is fraudulent they dont care who you are. The supervisors should be all fired instantly and replace with people that are more knowledgeable and more public relations than being a nasty hag. That is my complaint. They are the worst horrible people to finance through. The dealership I got it from is great, but the financing company Kia - the Better Business Bureau and everybody else is going to find out about how bad they are. Dont piss off a Marine.
The 2011 Kia Forte ran great for 50K miles. Then, I guess I hit a rock - thats what the dealer told me - that apparently damaged the transmission fluid line underneath the car. They fixed it and told me the transmission was fine. So 1,250 miles later, the tranny locks up in 4th gear. Now, Kia is telling me that I should call my insurance company to take care of this. I told them, “No way. You guys told me it was fine. Now, you want to backtrack and blame the so-called accident.” Now, they’re saying if their metal in the bottom of the filter, then its on me. I dont think so.
Rear shocks were leaking - I had to replace rear tires, car has 56k miles. Kia says Kias 60k warranty or 5-year warranty is void because 15 wheels were changed to 17 and car wasnt build for 17 wheels and tires (give me a break). I asked several tire shops. All said tires were ruined because of defective leaking shocks, not the size of wheels or tires.
I am currently in my third lease with Kia and up until now would have remained a loyal customer. I lease a 2016 Kia Soul. It broke down on the highway with 35,000 miles. I get it taken to Kia of Bedford. That whole experience was awful (Kia Roadside Assistance stinks) I am told that I some type of rodent had been eating wires in my car causing extensive damage and it was not a warranty or Kia issue that I would pay out of pocket. Meanwhile I google this and find Kia uses soy based wire covering which attracts rodents. Kia still will not accept responsibility. I file a car insurance claim. Kia has my car for a MONTH! They never had parts in stock, and kept finding new things wrong with my car. I had to call for updates. I found the people working in the service department to be rude, and very cold hearted to the need of the customer. I filed two separate claims with Kia Consumer Affairs because I thought at the least I deserved to be reimbursed my car payment for the month I paid and did not drive my vehicle. They do not respond to phone calls or emails. Basically blow you off. My case was escalated to a Steven ** who called me once to say he needed paperwork that I had already emailed him and hasnt responded to a phone call or email since. I sent letters to the executive team and no response. Kia is a joke. They dont care about the customer. They dont care about keeping customers. And they sell piece of ** cars that you get stuck with and they dont feel bad or care about that either. If you want a good, reliable car, good customer service from a business that cares DO NOT GO TO KIA! Kia just wants your money-but they will not provide any kind of good service to earn it. Run, run, run to any other dealership but a Kia dealership.
Safest car on the planet. Bought the SUV on 7/18/15, totaled on 7/22/15. This car saved my wifes life. All air bags went off, cushioned her like a baby. Thank you Kia.
To start my fiance was driving her car and the motor seized on her on a major highway. Called the dealership. They told her the towing company they used was busy so she would have to sit on the side of the road in the summer in Mississippi for 3 hours. I got her car towed to our house from a friend of mine. We finally get Kia to tow the car to the dealership, come to find out there was a recall on the motors for this reason. Never once did we get anything in the mail for it. We got it there Friday morning, here it is Monday afternoon and all they know is what I told them and that is that it needs a new motor. They told us it would be 3 days for the kia tech line to approve the motor. So we are gonna be without a car for 3 days if not longer. I called kia customer service they said the same. After asking for a supervisor they told me that it would take 24 to 48 hours for the supervisor to contact me back. Overall this will be the last kia I ever own. Just a bunch of crooks who messed up and now dont want to pay for it.
I have a 2013 Kia Soul I purchased new. Since I purchased it I have had an issue with the car hanging up when I shift it into reverse. It is an automatic. Ive taken it to the useless dealership I purchased it from and of course they cant fix it because the computer isnt throwing a trouble code. Its really frustrating when you purchase a new car and from day one the transmission hangs up and the idiots at the dealership cant fix it for you. I have stopped going to Folger and will go to another dealer for the next service and see if they can repair it. Anyone have a similar issue?
I will start off with what everyone is thinking when reading these... Yes, I am only writing this because I am angry and if my experience was just normal I would probably not write anything, but they earned this. I am currently going through the passing of my mom and all the challenges that come with it. I returned her leased car 2 months early, even though she has multiple letters offering her deals to bring her car back early because it is in demand. Then I receive the bill in the mail weeks later advising she owes $950 for returning the car early and $65 for wear and tear which just seems made up. I attempted to discuss with them, but they said they would not talk to me if I am not on the account. I got the email to send the proof of what happened and sent in what was necessary. I sent it 3 times without any action. I called and finally got the one helpful person to help me with submitting these documents. A few days later I got a letter saying sorry for my loss and asking me what I plan on doing with the car. How is this not a joke? They had the car for over a month. I submitted a complaint to Kia America and after passing the 48 hour waiting period, I heard nothing. I just submitted an updated complaint as I just got another letter in the mail for my mom, thanking her for returning her car and another bill, as if they never interacted with me before. I guess they are playing ignorant to get to the strategy of what one of their workers said, Why dont you just ignore it for 120 days and then it will just go to collections. Thank you Kia, thank you for absolutely no help and adding more stress to the most stressful and sad time of my life.
All I can say is if you get a Kia, pray that nothing ever goes wrong with it and that you need to deal with Corporate Headquarters. They are the most irresponsible and useless group of people I have ever dealt with. I had a recall on my car that was unsafe to drive. After over a month of back and forth where I was told the part was ordered and it was not, and then I was told I would get loaner car and then I was told I could not get a loaner car and that I would have to be reimbursed for renting my own car. I spent almost $650 for a rental car for a week and a half plus having to UBER to and from the car rental place. On December 21st, they approved my reimbursement and told to allow 30-45 days for completion. On January 27th (31 days later) I contacted Kia to find out the status of my reimbursement. I was told on January 28 (32 days) it was in final review and would be processed shortly. After receiving and hearing nothing, I contacted again on Feb 5 (40 days) and have since had no response. It is now Feb 12 (47 days) and I have yet to receive reimbursement nor any response from Kia. I spoke to manager, Brenda ** at Kia today who also told me that the reimbursement is still processing and she would follow up with me. Brenda did not follow up with me so I had to email her 8 days later and she told me it was still being processed and she requested it to be expedited (I thought this had already been done?). Now it has been another 5 days since she responded to me. I am going on 66 days since my reimbursement was approved with no check and no ETA of when I will get it.I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and Kia just responds stating my case is being worked on and to work with my case manager. And to note, my case manager, David, if he still is my case manager, hasnt responded to me since January 28th (28 days ago). This is insane. I just want my money. I have been charged 2 months of interest on my credit card now and still they cannot even tell me when to expect my check. I WILL NEVER EVER BUY A KIA AGAIN AND REGRET BUYING THIS ONE. KIA IS A JOKE.
The gas tank leaks. Kia had a recall but they will only fix it if the leak is on the very bottom. I was told mine is leaking at the side seam. The tank is rusted bad, it shouldnt matter where it is leaking. It is dangerous and should be fixed.
I have had my car in the dealership on several occasion. I have a 2014 Kia Cadenza. A very elegant car but it is misfiring and it vibrates like crazy on a cold start and a hot start. The service advisor is always nice and polite. But the service on my vehicle is horrible. Kia knows my vehicle is misfiring and vibrating like crazy its to the point where it Im moving in the car too it vibrates so bad. I work for a Kia dealership and if Kia tech will do me like this they would do anyone like this. I would not recommend anyone to purchase a Kia Cadenza. They are garbage. They look good on the outside but rotten on the outside. And I know they are trying to wait until my warranty go out so I would have to face this problem myself.
09/20/2015; I bought Kia Amanti on Aug. 2009 and still I am first owner. The title issued around 30 miles. My car was towed to dealership caused transmission problems around 85,000 miles under 10 years. The Kia warranty does not cover for my car. This is very strange. I am continuously contact Kia consumer dept.
I purchased a new Kia Rio 2012 on March 7, 2012. The AC was not working after 2 months. To get an appointment, I waited for 10 days. After repairing, they have not rectified the complaints, so they checked again. I found AC compressor complaints and they told me to wait for 15 to 20 days to get the parts. This is too bad. What should I do for this? I’m 20 or 30 days without a car.
Kia lost a payoff and now wants more money. Kia provided a payoff good through 7-11-16 in the amount of $30,314.32 for Francia **, which was sent and we have a signed receipt for the FedEx package #** on 7-11-16 by someone at KIA. The package was delivered to Payoff Department Kia Motors Finance box 650805 1501 N. Plano R. ste 100 Richardson TX 75081. They have not processed the payoff, and now they are requesting a payoff for $30,625.73 good through 10-8-16. We are asking that they honor the payoff that was quoted on July good through 7-11-16 for $30,314.32.
I first want to say I gave 1 star because it is required before submitting. I purchased my 2013 Kia Rio LX brand new at the end of 2013. I have had several problems. All four tires keep going flat. A squeaking noise every single time I drive it. The air conditioner not working correctly and has a foul smell when it is on. Recently, I went in for my 3000 mile oil change (so I could keep my warranty up-to-date) and I was informed of the following: the rotors, breaks and the housing for the breaks are rusted out. In addition, the tailpipe and the housing holding the tailpipe to the car rusted and the bolt holding on the timing chain and belt in the motor, yep RUSTED!This car was brand new when I purchased it at the end of 2013. When I contacted Kia and got a case number, they came back and said, this is normal wear. How can this be normal wear this car is about 3 years old. I would expect this from a car that was 6-10 years old. THIS is a public safety issue. IF any part of the brakes fall off while driving, this will cause an accident. IF the time belt/chain becomes unattached-this will cause an accident. If the tires leak too much air while driving or burst, this will cause an accident. In addition, there is a computer upgrade kit that should be installed in every car, however, since my car is NOT having issues that warrant the upgrade, then it is not available to me. My car does not have the light on or making the acceptable noises to get the upgrade. I have taken the car into the Kia Service Department, they state they can not pinpoint the slow leak issue with all 4 tires. They put air in them and cleared the sensor-but would not look into further or try to fix the issue. They did not fully inspect the air condition issue, because they did not have enough time. DID I MENTION THE CAR WAS THERE FOR 6 HOURS??? And the rust was normal wear. I do not care where you live in the US or Canada, a 3 year old car should not have rusted out like this car has. The 10 year/100K mile warranty is a scam! They have loopholes in every corner. I am disabled, have limited income and I got ripped off by Kia. I will NEVER EVER buy another Kia again!
I just bought a 2012 Kia Sorento in February. It started giving me problems. It stopped all of a sudden when I stopped in a stop sign and the engine was shut off. Two days ago, I was about to drive to work and when I went to the garage and sat in the van, it started but the gear wouldnt move as it was locked. I called the dealer and they told me to call the tow truck and get it towed to the dealership. They towed the van to the dealer, and the next day the guy from the service department called. This dealer is located in Avalon Blvd in Carson. He told me that both the engine and the computer are full of water like a swimming pool. How? I just took the car to the drive-through car wash a few times since I bought it. They told me that the warranty does not cover and I have to pay $1600 to get it fixed. When we first bought the car they lied to us that anything doesnt matter - big or small issues, the warranty is going to cover - and now they dont want to cover. I will never ever recommend anyone to Kia Carson or any other Kia dealer. It’s a bad experience that I have ever had.
My Kia Sedona has a lot of road noise. We have changed the tires and it hasn’t helped at all. I don’t know if it come from the doors and windows leaking or from the tires or maybe something else. The Kia service center is not open to helping with problems or getting things fixed.
On 10/12/2021, I brought my 08 Kia Sedona EX with 181k miles in for a Oil Change at Plaza KIA, Brooklyn NY. And was returned to me with the Oil Pressure light on dashboard followed by the Check Engine light. The mechanic saw the dashboards lights on while backing out the garage and tried to reset them, but to no avail. The Service Manager ran over claiming the mechanic done nothing wrong. Although, my vehicle didnt go in with these lights on. Kia claims no fault and blames the age of the vehicle. The Service Manager went on to state that they gave me a free diagnostic worth $129 and concluded that the Oil Sensor is the problem. And, that this repair and labor is a consumer purchase. The Mechanic attempted to inspect and troubleshoot this issue and was stopped by the Service Manager. I found this to be appalling and upsetting that my vehicle drove in to KIA fine and came out needing repair work that I have to pay for? Took vehicle to a independent shop nearby, They did inspection and found, 1) The Oil Sensor was not the issue and think its the Oil Pump... 2) KIA put 5W-30 Oil in instead of 10W-40 Oil for such a high mileage vehicle, stating 5W-30 is like water and best when vehicle was new... 3) That I should stop driving the vehicle immediately before the engine eats itself from low oil pressure. So, I called corporate, they claim no fault, wont take any steps or actions to resolve this issue, and asked that I no longer come to them for service. To me, this look like mechanical neglect and attempted cover up by KIA. So, So Upset. Buyer Beware!!!
In September of 2018 my 2012 Sorento started to catch on fire. I did not know what was napping and others were telling me to get out of car. When I finally did it was burning across the bottom. It burnt completely up. Kia paid for a rental for 7 months and then they called me and told me that it was undetermined why the car caught on fire. Now the fire department tells you why. Well anyway they took the rental. Told me its nothing they could do. Credit drops from 670 to 435. Cant get another car if I wanted to and still have to pay the Kia off thats burnt up. Not Fair. People do your research on Kia.
I have owned 2 Kia Souls in the past 4 years. The first car had some paint problems in that a lot of chipping was going on and not only around the wheels. There was paint chipping on the sides and at the top of the roof. We dont live on a gravel road nor do we drive on any gravel roads, when I took the car in for this, keeping in mind that this is the 2010 model with 83000 km. The dealership took some pictures and sent them in to Kia for the ok to go ahead and fix the problem. Kia gave them the go ahead and we got our car repainted. The new paint on the car was considerably better, in fact we had no real chipping and as the body guy said it was because there was actually some paint on the car.We traded this car in for a 2012 Kia Soul and now are facing the same problem. The difference is that I actually installed mud flaps on this car when I got it home and it is worse than the first car, in fact at the back wheel there is no paint at all and the car has surface rust developing on about a 4 area. Showing this to the dealer, they went through the same procedure of taking pictures and submitting them to Kia, this time the verdict was different. They are not going to cover the paint work. They are not going to paint the car. I have called Kia Customer service and awaiting a call back.
KIA agreed to fix my car which is presumably under warranty. We agreed that they will cover the parts and I will cover the labor at $1,250. After doing the repairs, they are now saying that they will not honor the warranty! This is on top of the disappointment I have had with KIA. I still owe $1,661 on the vehicle and I am so frustrated that they are pulling this! I would have never agreed to having them repair the car, had they not agreed to honor the warranty, as I had a mechanic who is willing to do it at a much more reasonable cost!KIA is a rip off. They are crooks and are not trustworthy! My lawyer will be handling the matter from today; however, this still leaves me without transportation! Today, I will drop one of my classes that require me to travel to a distant campus for lack of transportation. I will most likely lose my job. And in the meantime, my car will sit at the KIA dealership because KIA will not honor the agreement they had with me! Shame, shame, I know your name! The magnet I just ordered to place on my car is in the shape of a lemon and it reads: Ask Me About My Lemon. Its a KIA, dude! Although it will be a while before I am able to drive my 2006 KIA Rio again, I will proudly sport it around town with my new bright yellow accessory added to its both sides. Never would I ever recommend a KIA to anyone I meet! I will tell everyone I know to never ever consider owning a KIA! Lets boycott KIA! I will post on my Facebook account and in other sites, put signs in my yard and give bumper stickers to all of my friends--whatever it takes to make people aware!
I absolutely loved this vehicle (2017 Kia Niro) when I first got it. Now everything is falling apart. The rear driver side door sensor would not go off so they had to replace it. Plus two recalls. Now EVERY door handle pops off when you try and open the doors. And lastly, on the rear hatch there is some kind of oil leaking from the hatch. The car is 3 days over 1 year old and it is piece of junk.
We bought the car in 2006, since that time we have taken the car in many times for mostly bad electrical problems. Each time they so call fixed temporary, then next time more charges and waiting for parts that never came in, and/or new workers didnt know what was going on. This Friday taking car in for oil and burning smell in dash board, guess what, $89.00 just to look at, oh maybe even more. We are done with Kia.
Its reliable and very efficient. Any issues I have had were easily fixed with a forum search & maintenance is not that expensive. It is also very cute. The Kia Rios gas mileage is amazing (30mpg!). It has a manual transmission, which is not common anymore. It was also very affordable. I can see this car running as strong as older Hondas, eg 300k+ miles. But the backseat do a not fold down, which I didnt realize when I bought it. There is no stereo output jack, no power door locks or windows too.
I should have waited a few more weeks for sale... The car has a dangerous recall about car fire. Its in all the news and yet no answer from Kia except dont park your car indoors. It might catch fire.
