The doors have been stuck open several times, which really sort of puts a damper on long trips. It is a severe safety issue. I have manual doors, and we have it towed when this happens. But they insist there was no latch issue, even though weve had multiple failings. (Our neighbor with power doors has had them open sporadically while traveling 70 mph with kids in the back!)Further, I have to change the headlights (both, and both high/low beams) quarterly, because the alternator doesnt regulate the voltage well and you can actually see the lights getting brighter/dimmer. They blow out fast, and I have been stopped by police no less than six times (three with fix-it tickets where I have to take it back in the next day and show them its been fixed).I also had to pay for new power steering hoses because of squeaking. Fairly costly. The latest is my breaks slip regularly, and ABS is not covered under not a warranty repair. Why brag up ABS if the brakes dont work at all? ?
I had the worst experience having a Kia car. This was my first time I chose Kia because I liked the car that I was going to lease. The previous two cars that I drove were Toyota and they never ever gave me problems that usually an older car gives (one Problem on top of another). Imagine you trust the company, you get a brand new car thinking that “hey it’s a new car. I’m not going to have all the problems that old cars give and then one day you wake up, your car is not starting, the next day brake lights don’t work, the following week another problem comes up.And my car was a 2018 car and it’s 2019 now and then you call them. They keep transferring you to different departments not willing to take responsibility and ownership that you could be that one in a 1 million customers that had all these different problems with the car and maybe we can take care of you somehow. I would NOT recommend getting a Kia if you want to lease a NEW car. It was my first experience and the worst one and when you know the company doesn’t want to take responsibility for it, it’s even worse and not worth your time or your money!!!
We have called and dealt with the car dealer about the front end thumping sound. We had to replace the tires at 22,000 miles and we had the car in the car dealer 10 times. With only 22,000 miles on the car, we spent $672.15 for new tires and the dealer would not help, Atlantic Kia (out of bus., selling Kias now) in Pleasantville, NJ 08232. Now with 70,000, it needs tires again and the thumping area is the worst of the 3 tires. Now we will spend $550 for new tires. With that we always get rotation, balancing and front end alignments. We have all receipts but Kia will not call or email back and will not help at all.
I have been really pleased with the Kia Niro EV - it’s got all the Safety features that you can get, coupled with numerous convenience features, all in a very sporty package (looks and performance). The huge bonus: not only have I saved on my gas bill each month, but my wife loves this car too, so we’re saving on her gas bill too! Thanks Kia!!
I have owned my Kia since May 2006 had it now for a little over five years. I too, like many other, called Kia consumer assistance line the first few weeks after purchasing the car from Kia Country in South Carolina. Like everyone else, I thought I got a deal and the sales people were really nice too, until you sign the paperwork and they put the keys in your hand. That is when all of the problems begin.I complained of the paint peeling. They told me that there was nothing that they could do, so I let it go because it wasnt very noticeable, but that was my mistake. After that, more and more problems began to occur like the blinker lights blow out every couple of months. Twice, they blow out at the end of the drive way. I brought my car right back to them and all they did was replace it, but the very last time, I refused to take my car back until they did some further investigation. They did, and the results were that they had a short, so I went. After another couple of months, they blew out again. The air bag light comes on and goes off. They were supposed to fix it again, but like everything Kia supposedly fixed, doesnt last very long but only a few months. My chamber and chassis cannot be aligned per tires, plus I brought the 3 year alignment when I purchased new tires from them last year, but have never had a proper alignment. They suggested that I take it to the dealer. I took it to the dealer in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. All of these existing problems, the dealer did not fix or dont want to produce paper for.Now that the warranty is no longer effective, they want me to pay for all of the problems that were never addressed by corporate or the dealer Stokes Hodges Kia of Augusta, GA customer service. They have had about 4 or 5 managers since the purchase of my car. I was considering buying another Kia some time ago, but with the many ongoing problems I had with my Kia, I would never buy another Kia ever in life. You have poor customer service. You guys have left a bad taste in my mouth. I want rest until justice is serviced.
I have a 2013 Kia Soul I purchased new. Since I purchased it I have had an issue with the car hanging up when I shift it into reverse. It is an automatic. Ive taken it to the useless dealership I purchased it from and of course they cant fix it because the computer isnt throwing a trouble code. Its really frustrating when you purchase a new car and from day one the transmission hangs up and the idiots at the dealership cant fix it for you. I have stopped going to Folger and will go to another dealer for the next service and see if they can repair it. Anyone have a similar issue?
My family bought a brand new Kia Sorento from this dealership 7 months ago and it almost took their lives on the highway when the car suddenly stalled and stopped. We had our car towed to the dealership and they told us that the alternator was the problem and that our mechanic had spilt oil into it and it wasnt a warrantable item. We choose to not to believe them and had the car towed out and the alternator inspected and we found out that it was a failed part that they dont make any more for Kias. We sent the alternator to them after they told us to, to show them that they were putting peoples lives in danger and that they should have warrantied it and paid for it but instead they call us and tell us no. Instead of taking care of us they keep spinning this around trying to take advantage of us just so they do not have to pay. Keep your family safe and dont bother buying a car from here. Were not gonna give up. Were gonna make sure to fight this cause this is a crime.
One of our customers at our shop has a 100k mile warranty on her vehicle and her Valve Body went bad at 94000 miles. It is a part that should be covered under warranty. She has kept up on all of the maintenance on her vehicle per the warranty booklet and has records to prove it. Peak Kia was awful to deal with. They suggested replacing the Transmission and that it wasnt going to be covered under warranty. The grand total was 4000 dollars. The assistant service manager was a complete jerk. He stated that if she didnt have 3 Transmission services at 30k, 60k, and 90k then her warranty was void. I read the warranty book a few times to make sure I wasnt missing anything. She was supposed to at 90k for normal driving conditions. The book stated at 30k and 60k the Transmission should be serviced if the car is driven in severe conditions. Her car is not. We have been trying to get this covered since June. I have spoke to the corporate office in July and still havent received any word from them. Completely unacceptable! She has called multiple dealers as well as corporate and has only heard back today just to tell her they are still working on it. Come on, seven months. Here is what I have gathered from the situation. Kia could care less about their customers. Kia would rather lose a customer than please a customer.
Leased a Kia Sorento early 2016 brand new. No problems that I noticed other than the engine oil got dirty and more dirty every time it was changed. Shortly after my oil was changed the last time, the engine started making a clicking noise then it all of a sudden blew. Dark smoke came out the exhaust. The car cut back on long enough to get home then it didnt cut back on. Had Kia tow it to get maintenance only to have the warranty company refused to pay for repairs. Was told that there was sludge in the engine and was asked to provide service receipts, which I did. I am not a rich person to just pull 5000 dollars out of my pocket and pay for a repair especially if I am not at fault. I told Kia to take the car as a voluntary repossession. No word since. Im completely disgusted and now Im sure my credit is screwed. Something needs to be done.
I hate your pornographic commercials. Have you no shame? Do you not know that young children are watching television? Its offensive, degrading to women and just adds to all the other garbage that is on TV. You must be pretty desperate and feel like your product cant sell itself, resorting to such offensive tactics. I will never consider buying a Kia or Hyundai, just the name alone conjures up negativity in my mind!
What started out as a seemingly annoying problem went from bad to worse. The fan on my heater/air conditioner wouldnt turn off. I immediately called Kia and was told not a problem - bring it in and they will take care of it - earliest appointment was almost 2 weeks. THEN, about 8 days later the idiot lights related to the fan started flashing. Called again, not a problem - probably set off a sensor due to the fan running. THEN, while driving on the freeway, all the dashboard lights related to speed, mileage, gas level... went OUT along with the headlights. Called immediately and was told I could drop it off but they didnt have any loaners so it was decided I would bring it in the next day. When I came in, I was told I would be charged $102 for a diagnostic test - since it had to be done I agreed. After waiting 3 hours they said they couldnt find the problem so I got a RENTAL for $35 a day. After waiting all day to hear something, I got a call - still no resolution and it would cost me AT LEAST another couple of hundred to continue to locate the problem. NO CHOICE!!! I had to agree - I needed my car back. So today I get a call - the wiring harness which controls everything frayed and melted!!! And SURPRISE, its not covered. How the heck is that not a problem with the product??? So, now I have to pay over $1000 to get it fixed. UNFREAKING BELIEVABLE!!! BUYER BEWARE.
My 2012 SX was a problem from the start. I brought it in a couple of months after I owned it for detonation noise/turbo rattle (sounds like marbles in a can) in the engine. Kia told me it was normal, and ignored it. Then, about 2 months later, the engine blew the spark plugs apart, and I lost almost all power. I limped it back to the dealership on what seemed like it was driving on 2 cylinders. Kia only replaced the spark plugs, even though they looked like they were melted - obvious detonation damage. Kia refused to do any other diagnostics, because, It runs fine now with new spark plugs. Not long after that, after hooking my small camper up (1,155 lbs), the engine completely failed while on the freeway. It blew a hole in one of the cylinders, and melted all of the spark plugs. Kia then claimed my camper was too heavy and refused the warranty, even though the vehicle is rated to tow 2,000 lbs. I hired an attorney, and it has been almost a year, and the state of Michigan had to step in to get them to come to the table! Its now the end of April, 2013, and my car has been dead since July of 2012. Do not buy a Kia!
I bought a new 2011 Kia Sorento. I have always had a problem with the acceleration. It does not happen all the time, but now it is more frequent. I have tried to cross the highway, and when I accelerate, it is as if the car has gone dead. It will not accelerate. It will eventually get gas, and move. This is very scary, since I never know when it is going to happen. I only have 20,000 miles on it. I really wish I had not purchased a Kia. Kia mechanics cannot find the problem. I have changed type of gas, with no help. I feel like I am driving a car waiting for an accident to happen!
I purchased a new Kia Rio 2012 on March 7, 2012. The AC was not working after 2 months. To get an appointment, I waited for 10 days. After repairing, they have not rectified the complaints, so they checked again. I found AC compressor complaints and they told me to wait for 15 to 20 days to get the parts. This is too bad. What should I do for this? I’m 20 or 30 days without a car.
I bought a 2012 Kia Sorento in last November. After few months later, I found out that there was something wrong with my car. The driver seat front door was stuck and could not open (occurred 3 times). I took the car to the dealer in May with a regular oil change, and they said that the motor at the front door was malfunctioning. I never knew there was motor to open the door. They ordered the part at the time, and still waiting. During this period, the door was stuck twice, and I am frustrated with the situation. How long will it take them to get the part to fix the car? Where is the satisfied service with such ad? I dont know what to do? Will they take the responsibility if something happens to me or my wife if the door does not work under such emergency? Yes, I am frustrated and angry about their service.
I just noticed a bubble on the hood of my 2010 KIA Soul. I called the dealer and they said that Kia only warranties paint for 3 years or 30,000 miles. Well, it just so happened that although its within the 3 years, I am over the mileage by about 15,000. First of all, what do miles driven have to do with paint? I told him I keep it garaged at home and under cover at work. It rarely gets sun exposure other than when Im driving. Im not happy!
I bought a van from Kia west Edmonton last month and I was told that I will get my brand new van the 5th of May, then the 7th, then the 11th, then the 15th, and today we are the 19 of May and I did not receive my van yet. Every day I make calls to Kia west Edmonton and Kia Canada and until now I cant get an answer from them, I suppose to leave on a vacation with my family for a big trip with our supposedly new van but we had to cancel all our bookings and reservations because Kia Canada does not give a damn about my kids. When I called to Kia Canada and complained to the lady, she told me she will get in touch with me in the afternoon, she did call back but she said she could not get in touch with Kia west Edmonton, imagine the whole day. She could not get in touch with them so after 10 minutes, I called Kia west Edmonton and wow I can reach them so easy. Until now, am not sure when I will get my van - this a great service. Everyone, please do not purchase any vehicle from this company.
If you are looking for a LOT of car for not as much money, Kia Sorrento is the car to buy. The salespeople were great and the features are some that my sons dont have in their Lexus and Acura high end models.
This is Dr Hamdel **. My complaint from El-sabaa auto service for KIA, I maintained my KIA Cerato on July 22nd, 2014 normal 70 km maintenance. They asked me to change an addition parts and they costed me about 3000LE however I did not hesitate to remove the damaged parts as they told me buy the new one. I returned to home and get back the next day because I had a higher AC voice than normal - after checking they told that this a normal for AC. After two day what I been in travel with my family at 2:00 AM on CAIRO-ALEX desert road the car stopped (this fun no?). The gear box does not work anymore and found an oil diffuse from the front. I have no choices instead of carrying the car and my kids on the truck...and I introduced a complaint today for the customer protection system in Egypt. Regarding the Car it is located now in the front of my home and I do not know what I have to do...This is MY cell phone for contacting **.
We bought our Kia used, (we werent told it was used at the time we bought it, we noticed it was used after we had bought it and got in it - as we didnt test drive this particular one). In any event, the warranty covered the electrical parts up to 12,000. At about 11,000 miles, I was driving down the highway and was told that break lights werent working. We had head light issues and just thought it was a the bulbs, but both break lights went out, then pulled into the parking deck and notice no running light and no head lights except for brakes. We had to get towed back to the dealership and they replaced all the bulbs saying they were burned out. By the time the lights went out again, it was out of warranty. Every month or so, a bulb will go out - a head light, a break light. Then we noticed when you hit the back of the break light, the lights will flicker on and off, so the bulbs werent actually burned out. Then we began to notice the electrical seats were burned out. And then the lights where the manual transmission gear stick was burned out. Then the license plate lights. And now, for the first time a new electrical issue surfaced in the electric side mirrors, they will no longer work. We noticed many burn marks within the electrical components. We are certain KIA was aware of the electrical issue when we brought the car in under its warranty period, but they refused to address and simply replaced the bulbs and said sometimes things like this happen. We have been stopped by police for headlights being out, brake lights not working and license plate light out. While I love my KIA Sorento and mechanically it has been a reliable vehicle, the electrical issues have been dismal, costly, and unsafe.
I am suffering because of my sunroof in my Cerato 2010. I went on 13/10/2011 to the agent in Cairo to fix my sunroof, but till now, they are telling me that the spare part is not found (I think the problem is the roller). I am very frustrated and I hope to fix this problem with an agent in Egypt sooner. Thanks for the help.
I purchased new First Edition Kia EV6. The first editions came with a free home charger. Unfortunately, it was not with car when I drove it off the lot and the dealership had no clue on how to get it or even what the process was. I have contacted Kia corporate twice with no help and even contacted the company that is supposed to ship it with no help. No one at the dealership or at Kia has any definitive info on this program. Buyers of the EV 6 are left with being able to charge their cars at home. It’s an egregious process and someone at Kia needs to step up and give customers valid information.
I own a 2013 KIA Rio Ex. I had many problems with the car. I always take it in to get the routine repairs, oil changes, brakes etc. One day on a really cold day my rear brakes locked up on the road (wheels dragging on the road), thankful that it happened on the side road. Had to get it towed to dealership and getting that call to say that it was my problem, cost me 539 dollars to fix and it took them a week to get the parts for the car. Since Feb 2014 I have spent 1400 dollars in repairs with a car still under warranty. It has also has had problem with the UVO system going for a 3rd unit tomorrow. Stay away from KIAs they are garbage.
I bought a 2012 Hyundai Sonota from them. They told me they just got the car in and went through it thoroughly. Two weeks later the motor seized up! Come to find out the motor was a junkyard motor!! Of course they claim to not know this but if they went through it then how did they not know? Lies!! So I went back and they said all they could do is charge me $3000 for a new motor (which they said was a deal but Hyundai only wanted $2500). Lies!! Or give the car back and they keep my down payment and first payment!! WHAT!! Sales manager was a complete jerk!! Told me they keep the down payment to cover their costs because I blew up the motor in his car!! You sell me a junk car for $8000 and I should cover what they lost! Wow!! If I could give less than 1 star I would.
Engine recall with a 3 - 5 month wait according to Fucillo Kia. My first issue with my 2017 Kia Sorento was on 9/18/18 when my A/C stopped working and the engine overheated. I brought the vehicle to my dealer. I was informed the head gasket needed to be replaced. It was fine for four months until 1/18/19 when the heater stopped working. I took it to my dealer and then they determined that I needed a new engine. I later found out by the technicians at my dealership that they had 40 vehicles of different models needed new engines. They told me that Hyundai is having the same problems. They had no loaner cars for me so I was drivien to a Hertz rental up the road by a dealer rep. The dealer said the policy of Kia motors allowed to drive the smallest car Hertz had on their lot. It was a Nissan Accent which is smallest car Nissan makes. So basically I’m paying $395 a month for an All Wheel Drive SUV and I get a vehicle that isn’t even close something comparable to what I’m leasing. I’m also in the last year of the lease and I won’t have my car for 3 - 5 months. The dealer won’t let me out of the lease but I have to keep paying for it! I was towed out of my own driveway with only 2 inches of snow on the ground. I’ve filed a consumer Fraud case with the NYS Attorney General’s Office. Nobody at the dealer will help me and the Consumer Affairs Dept at Kia Motors will help either. I’m so disgusted and frustrated. I will never recommend a Kia or Hyundai again.
My Kia Soul shifts out of gear and randomly does not start. It makes a buzzing sound at times, too. The Kia has been towed 4 times in 1 year. They suggested that maybe I dont know how to start my car properly (which includes 4 different tow truck drivers that dont know how to start it either!), but Im thinking that thats probably not the problem. Its been in the service shop approx. 15 times since I bought it brand new in September of 2011. Has anyone else had these issues? Fed up in Florida.
2016 Kia Soul. I purchased this car in Oct 2015 with 8 miles on it. I was so happy to have a new dependable car or so I thought. Less than 100 miles in the AC had a terrible stench and there was a noise in the rear suspension, axle when going over bumps. I was told the problem could not be replicated and maybe the car just needed a break in period and me being a woman with a life threatening illness I was like OK. See with Lupus I have to be careful not to get stressed out as that irritates my condition and furthermore I had just had a bout with almost dying from lupus complications and the last thing I wanted was to be upset or frustrated. So due to this I take everything lightly. My biggest mistake!!! 2yrs later those 2 problems are still there and far worse than before and now I have since acquired more issues with my Kia Soul. Mind you there is only 10300 miles on the odometer in roughly 25 months of ownership. So here are the new issues, 3 recalls in 1st yr, rattling in rear around back door, a stalling or dragging in engine when I press the window buttons up or down, absolutely poor gas mileage, car jerks forward when Im at a stoplight or stop sign while my foot is on the brake, grinding noise when braking like there is no brake pad left when clearly there is, very poor quality craftsmanship with the interior, road noise is awful and Bluetooth and hands free calling work intermittently. I am so disappointed in every aspect of my purchase and ownership of this Kia Soul and I wish I had not purchased this piece of junk. Im waiting on Kia to call me back as my case got escalated to whomever, not sure what that means but Ill wait and see if they are willing to stand by their product. As of right now I would not recommend anyone buy anything from Kia. Not even a free muffin or donut. I put $5000 down on this car and now Ill lose all of that plus 2 yrs of payments if I decided to sell. What a mess, everything about this purchase from the start was a red flag. I should have walked away but I needed a car to get me back and forth to my doctors appts as I was literally fighting to stay alive and believe it or not Im still in the fight of my life as doctors can not get my lupus under control and my health is more down than up, but Im hoping that I will not have to fight with Kia to make this right. All I can do now is put my faith and trust in God, let go and allow for him to work for me. My advice to all potential car buyers is steer clear of Kia until they iron out the kinks and stop lying about gas mileage or their supposed JD power awards. This car is just not worth what I paid for it and the problems scare me into thinking this vehicle may let me down during one of my lupus episodes and my life will be at risk due to all the problems. If I could turn back the hands of time, I would drive right past the Kia lot. Dont make the same mistake I did, run in the opposite direction of Kia and keep running, dont slow down. Dont stop and dont look back.
Kia Soul 2014 is a sham!!! The gear transmission in this car is nothing to write home about. The car is slow to accelerate, jerks back then forth into gear around 20-40 mph. My battery died less than 1yr 6months into me owning the car. Theres no cd player in the car which is truly the least of your worries. DO NOT BUY KIA PRODUCTS! YOU WILL SURELY REGRET IT.
Got a used 2013 Kia Soul with 47000 miles on it. I am really surprised about the underwhelming gas mileage. I thought they had downgraded the MPG but they should be downgrading it further to 20 mpg in the city and 23 on the hwy. I am getting a consistent 20-21 ON ECO DRIVE, with city/hwy combined, pretty bad. After reading the reviews of people getting even less than that, even more unacceptable. I thought I would have this car for a while but am already considering selling it (I will definitely be blogging about the bad gas mileage because other people need to know before buying a Soul. Kia just straight up is still lying/exaggerating the mileage of this vehicle). After some research regarding fuel economy on the Soul, it seems that Kia was called out due to their claims that it got better mileage. I see that Kia did a lifetime reimbursement program for owners of Kia Souls from 2011-2013, but apparently no one is getting their settlements because there are some appeals. So maybe it is not so voluntary?
I need my rotors resurfaced before I even need brakes at 20,000 miles. I went all the way up the ladder with Kia and they keep coming back with The warranty was only for 12k miles. The car should not have a problem with rotors already. Their reasoning is I could have driven through puddles which cooled down the rotors so then they heat back up and cause problems. And a bunch of other lousy excuses. Luckily, this 38k car is a lease and goes back in six months.
I purchased the 2018 Kia Sorento EX 3.3L AWD new in January 2018. I currently have 23k miles on the vehicle now. This vehicle has been one of the best vehicles Ive ever owned, and Ive owned a lot of cars. The AWD system works great, handling is great, power is there when you need it and its comfortable. Every vehicle has its cons, but I find it difficult to find one with the Sorento. I know a few other people who own a Sorento and couldnt be happier with the purchase. The interior has a great feel and well put together, unlike a lot of new vehicles and their cheap composite plastic. The lines are almost seamless. The warranty (10yr/100k) seems great until you read the fine print. A lot of components are dropped off the warranty at certain mileage intervals along the way to the 100k benchmark. I did pay for the better warranty which covers all components to 100k miles, but even then other companies have warranties only going out to 24k to 36k miles, which is convenient to drop the vehicles warranty the moment it leaves new car status.I would recommend this vehicle to anyone thats considering purchasing an mid size SUV. For what you pay its the best bang for the buck. There is a transmission software update available. I brought the vehicle back in at 5600 miles to have it completed. KIA sent a $50 Visa prepaid debit card in the mail due to the inconvenience. Ive never received anything from any other manufacturer for an inconvenience.
I bought a Kia Sorento 2021 in March. In June we had to take because of a manufacture error code, they kept for a few days and now again I had to take it back another manufacture error code with the engine. They have it since Thursday November 18, 2021. No car replacement and when I call Kia consumer they give an attitude when you are expressing my frustration.
I bought a 2011 Kia Rio5 in the spring of 2011 from Kia Sudbury. Since then Ive had nothing but horror from the vehicle and nothing but the same problem over and over again. I spent 24.000 and the car is breaking from new to now with the same continuous problems. Ive had the mechanic at Sudbury Kia dent my car while being serviced and they denied it. Sudbury Kia does not sell the tires for the Car they sold me. They also do not offer wheel alignments which is sad when you want your winter tires out in or your alignment set after they do the inner barring 3 times on the same tire. Even after an alignment at Fountain Tire in Sudbury, My 2011 Kia Rio5 has blown 6 coil packs and a cylinder update from 30000 and till now. New radio 2 weeks after buying the car. Because the button paint cracked all over the deck Ive had the same cobweb in my rpm gauge because Kia Sudbury didnt want to take the dash apart after me just buying the car and noticing it shortly after. My inner barring has blown 3 times on the front passenger side of the car. The car wont stay aligned. Ive had Sudbury Kia Fix the lights in the interior of the car and got oil all over the roof and didnt install the right light and broke the other one and now it hangs there only because the guy couldnt put the light back into the ceiling of the car. The back latch on the car locked up because of a piece of foam Kia seals the back lock with. The foam breaks after a while and gets stuck in the door, leaving you without a rear door.If you boost the car it blows the fuses for the radio and lights, it doesnt start in the cold and if you turn the key every 20 seconds when it doesnt start it will eventually start. When that happened I brought my car to Kia Sudbury and they couldnt help me unless my car didnt start, which it didnt thats why I was bringing it to them, but no help at all. The car is no good on gas. If youre on the highway, the 4th gear stays on too long which leaves you burning gas a lot, the car now is almost finished at 115000. The car is not good and unreliable and costly. Kia damaged my car and didnt help me at all with getting to what was the problem. They just covered it up. My car is now a really loud, misfiring riding pop can that costs a lot.
The dealership is great. The staff is great. But the car is a piece of junk. The air-condition is stuck and is blowing hot air. KIA told me that it would cost over $400 dollars to repair. I took it to another dealer and they said that it was the air-condition trip switch under the gas. Now, it is stuck and hot air blows constantly. I cant believe KIA South would rip me off like that. I trusted them. I am hurt and upset.
On 07/08/2015 I was visiting my parents at their home and when it was time to leave, I told my children to go ahead and get in the car. The reason I was ok with this is because I had the keys in my hand!! I said goodbye and walked out the door not 2 minutes later, and my car was gone. My 4 year old was able to disengage the car from park and my car rolled 75 feet down hill, it finally stopped by coming to rest on a tree. During this time my 6 year old was thrown from the vehicle because he was in the process of getting in the car. He ended up with a laceration on his head and a trip to the hospital where he had to have a CT scan. Once we had the car towed up my father was able to do the same thing with the car, he disengaged it from park while the keys were not in it, his feet were also not in the car. So my car is able to come out of park without the keys and without depressing the brake. I have since found others reports of this online. This is highly unacceptable to me. We contacted the service manager at the dealership where we purchased the vehicle and he was of no help to us. I have just made a formal complaint to Kia, but who know what will come of this. To anyone who is looking to buy a Kia please check that this will not happen in your vehicle. I would hate for someone else, or someone else to get hurt.
Kia brand vehicle has to many mechanical issues, especially if the car is used. Those made before 2017 all have the same issues, and are NOT recommended as a good car in Consumer Report magazine. The 2 wheel drive models are too loose on the road and difficult to control. I actually had to change the way I drove since I always had a 4 wheel drive previously to my Kia purchase. The car is light despite its size and in a strong wind will move across the road so you have to fight to keep control or weigh down the back of the vehicle with sand or Kitty Liter in the back trunk.
So, this is the newest car Ive ever owned. Being 22, I finally established enough credit to buy a nicer car for myself! Yay! Ive only had my Rio for about six months. Its a 2013, so theres still a warranty left. Smooth sailing until my baby took a turn for the worst. My engine started making a knocking noise and I broke down 40 miles from home. Panicking, I wasnt sure what to do (as Ive never dealt with warranty issues). I then looked into my owners manual to see that I have roadside assistance! They stayed on the line with me, asked me if I was okay, and asked me if I had a way home (which I did). Eventually they towed the car to the nearest dealership. The dealership called me the next day letting me know that the engine had blown. My heart literally sank into the ground. He said he would put in a claim to Kia to fix up my little red car. I called everyday for a week, and the service manager hadnt heard anything back. So finally I called into corporate to see what was going on. They told me that they had trainees in the department that handles those things that were just getting the hang of things there and apologized for my wait. The next day I hear back from the service manager of my local dealership telling me that Kia approved my warranty claim because my car was well maintained, that I can pick up my rental car, and my Kia is getting fixed this week! Although having no car for week was kind of inconvenient, I understand that customer service can be kinda rough sometimes, especially with trainees. All in all Im happy that Kia took care of me. Thanks Kia! :)
On July 19, 2012, I purchased a 2013 Kia Sorento from Riverchase Kia, 2200 Pelham Parkway, Pelham, AL 35124. I shopped this vehicle on their website. I wrote the VIN, stock number, color, and price down on my pad. When I got to the lot, I found the vehicle. During negotiation, I was told if they honored the website price, they could not let me take advantage of the $5000 pull-in/drag-in trade that they advertised on television. I was told by the salesman and the finance person there was no rebate on the 2013 models Sorentos. During closing of my vehicle, I noticed $5000 trade was made up of $3500 trade plus a $1500 rebate. They told me the manufacturer would not allow the dealer do both. If this is true, they need to express this writing on their website as well as on their TV commercials. All this brings to the question of truth in advertising. Please address this, I feel somewhat cheated. You have a product that can stand on its own, Dont taint it with deceiving advertising practices.
I have gotten no help or updates from either the Moritz Kia in Hurst or heard back from anyone from your office. Im now being told by the dealership (18 Sep, 2015) that the vehicle is not cover under the 100k miles warranty! I would need to pay $1999.94 to get my car out. Why was this information not convey to me prior to all this work and time being spent on the car? If this was communicated to me ahead of time, I would have had my local mechanic correct your issue in less than a week for less the half the price. When the mechanic opened the hood did he not noticed the radiator had been replaced?Just so I have the sequence of event correctly stated: 02 August 2015, my vehicle overheated, with all ORIGINAL equipment. I have towing receipt. Vehicle has been in dealership since 05 August. 21 September 2015, I was told KIA will not Honor 100K mile warranty because I had replaced the original radiator that had leaked (AFTER the engine overheated). I never experienced such bad customer service. Bad practice... First and last time I will buy a KIA.
Well I bought a 2014 Sorento and it has died on me 3 times. The 1st time the memory board went the 2nd day I had it. They fixed it. 2nd time the battery went. They replaced it. Well today 4/17 I went to start my car and is dead again, unknown why. We called to have Kia to come tow and speak to a sales manager cause the service department was closed as per secretary. She advised speak to a sales manager, left message, didnt get a call back. Called again and was told only one manager and we would have to wait until 4/18 to speak with someone. In the meantime I dont have a car and I have a disabled five year old with health problems and spends a lot of time in the hospital. What am I to do if something happens? Call a cab, better yet. Every month I go to Boston Massachusetts to Boston Childrens hospital. What if this happened going there and I was stuck. This would be a huge health risk. I want a new car. This is ridiculous!!
Kia Sorento 2013 SX V6 - Nice vehicle as long as you stay on top of maintenance.
I had the same issue with my 2011 KIA SORENTO. When I went to have my vehicle checked out in April 2013, no service indicator lights were on the dashboard. I actually went in due to a knocking noise when starting it. I was told I needed a new engine due to personal negligence. This information was determined at the second KIA dealership in Highland, Indiana. The first one I went to, in Calumet City, Illinois didnt want to service my vehicle at all even though I was just under the 60,000 mile warranty. My odometer was at 59,000 miles, give or take a few miles. They told me maybe Highland can take my car. Anyway, that same day and right after they turned my car away, I drive to Highland and Im told there is oil sludge everywhere and I need a new engine. At this point Im confused because my oil light and/or engine light was not on nor have they flashed or been lit up on the dashboard ever since I owned the vehicle. The mechanic at Highland was saying I never got my oil changed and even bad mouthed my husband when I said I didnt drive it often enough to know what was being done to my car.Anyhow, my husband and I can confirm that the oil has been changed. However, the auto shop we frequently use can only provide 1 year worth of receipts. The cars been sitting for about 8 months now. We could hear it getting worst as we were managing our money to have the engine replaced in 2013. We didnt want it getting worst while we were saving up the $6000. So its been sitting in our garage for the last 8 months until last month when we finally had the $6000 to get the engine replaced. That being said, our auto shop can only provide receipts for 2013 maybe one receipt for 2014. I got the car used in April 2012. So the car was serviced with oil changes from about July 2012 throughout 2013 and maybe one month at the beginning of 2014.My husband kept saying he never seen an oil light. After he brought it to my attention, I realized Id never seen an oil light either. We both can confirm having the oil changed as well as paying for an oil pan replacement. And not once did an oil light come on!! So we spent $6000 for an engine just recently at KIA and on the way home from the dealership, after dropping $6000, our car dies out! At this point, Im livid, and of course the dealership was closed and the next day was Sunday so I had to wait until Monday to call KIA. That Saturday evening we have our friend, a professional auto mechanic, come over to check out the car to give us his opinion on why the KIA died out on the way home from a $6000 engine repair job. He says we need an alternator! When I call KIA to explain what happened, the service guy says nothing was wrong with it when it left their service department. Our recommendations, written on the receipt, only described us needing new tires. Needless to say I am not trying to deal with KIA, so we let our friend, the professional auto mechanic, replace our alternator and while hes doing the job, he notices a bunch of screws missing!! Now Ive got to call KIA about that. Our friend explained that if everything isnt screwed in place that our car will start rattling and itll cause even more damage under the hood. Cant wait to hear KIAs excuse as to why they didnt screw everything back in where its supposed to be screwed in.
In January 2008, I bought a 2007 KIA Spectra from Kia Brampton, with a 5-year or 100,000-km. warranty. All went well until December 26, 2012 when the vehicle was at 99,950 km. The oil light started to come on and off. It was towed to KIA Brampton where they declared the vehicle okay but proceeded to empty the oil and place clean oil therein. I was told to return the vehicle every week for check up which I did every week until March when KIA finally confirmed that the vehicle did have problem. Then they told me they will contact me after they get in touch with KIA Canada. In March, they took in the vehicle and claimed to change the rings, which they assumed was the problem. However, within two weeks, the same problem resurfaced and I took back the vehicle to KIA Brampton. The car was checked and we were told by the Service Manager that the change of the ring was a goodwill gesture and the warranty has expired and in general, when vehicles reach the end of the warranty, KIA seems to think that people want to con them to recondition the engine and hence they would not be able to help us. KIA Brampton recommended that we contact KIA Canada re the problem.I contacted KIA Canada about the problem and was told by the Customer Service representative, Malia, on May 24, 2013 that the KIA could not assist me because the vehicle has passed its warranty period. I refuted this of course on the basis that the problem with the vehicle was detected before the warranty period expired. I asked to speak to a supervisor and after being put on hold for 15 minutes, I was told that the Supervisor was busy and but will contact me within 24 hours. On Wednesday, May 29, 2013, I finally received a call from a Sandy from KIA Canada about the matter. I again requested that KIA honor the warranty and fix the vehicle. Sandy said she had nothing to add to what Malia told me because KIA Brampton fixed the problem in March based on their diagnosis and now that the car is over the warranty period, KIA is not responsible for any repairs.
My car, a 2009 Kia Rondo, had the right front wheel bearing go out at 69114 miles. It was replaced. I just had the left front wheel bearing replaced at 75977 miles. I have a problem with this because these should not have been a problem at this low mileage. I feel, as a safety issue, that Kia should repair the back ones also since the bearings were probably installed poorly to begin with. They wont do it.
I have been dealing with the same issue for 2 yrs when it was under warranty and my car is still not fix - I have a 2009 Kia. Now that the warranty is over, I did purchased an extended warranty which I cant even use cause the dealer tells me different stories so my extended warranty will expired already and they are giving me the run around scenario. So over it but this made my decision to buy a Nissan. I also own a nissan - best customer service ever.
I would stay away from Kia vehicles as their engine build has proven to fail. There were recalls on Kia Optima engines, which my husband own and had engine failure. Recently my 2010 Kia Forte engine has failed. Less than 10 years old 120k miles, bought new, service and repairs all done at dealership and suddenly engine goes out. Called Kia and their customer service is rude as ever. My family will never again purchase a Kia.
I have a 2013 Kia Soul. I am on my third battery. Kia says there is nothing wrong. Just bad batteries. I dont have any confidence in this car anymore. Kia will not do anything for me.
I purchased a 2017 Kia Sorento. After cleaning the plastic plate in front of speedometer with glass cleaner as recommended. I noticed that there were spots on other side of the plastic. This should not happen. Kia would not repair the problem and brushed aside the problem with the simple statement that it looked like outside influences were involved. Gee, could it be that KIA did not properly seal the plastic covering protecting the speedometer? If you buy a KIA, be prepared to fight for everything under warranty. Personally, I am getting rid of the Sorento and buying a car that lives up to its warranties.
I went into Kia for a recall on the engine Sept 2017. On Jan 2018 the engine dies out on me. I get the worse customer service in the world. I never get calls back. I made a complaint to an employee and he tells me it will be approved for a new engine and he will call me back by the end of the day to let me know when the loaner car is ready for me. 4 days later I get a call saying they have a rental car ready for me to pick up when Im ready. I go in to find out I have to pay $200 deposit out of my pockets. I dont understand how my car engine blows out because of the recall and now I have to pay $200 for a rental car? Kia should provide me with a loaner car or pay that themselves.
My 2014 Kia Sorento is peeling. The paint warranty is only for 3 years or 36,000 miles. My vehicle was beyond that. I believe paint should last more than 5 years. Kia differs. They refuse to do anything. Despite the fact that the paint is peeling off in 2-3 inch chips, they insist there is nothing wrong with their paint. carcomplaints.com shows many customers are having the same issue. A car paint expert even explained how the paint process was done incorrectly. I will have to pay $1000 plus to have my Kia repainted and then I plan to trade it in quickly before any more of the paint peels off. I will never buy a KIA again.
I have a 2011 Kia Sorento with 82,000 miles that I have just been told has a bad rack and pinion. I have been told by 3 mechanics at various places that there have been multiple bulletins out about this issue with the rack and pinion with KIA Sorentos yet KIA will not cover the issue or have a recall! I think it is time to get the news media involved. There is something wrong with this!!!!!
I love my Kia Rio. It gets great gas mileage. I bought it used, but I will be getting a 2014 Kia Rio 5 door this fall.
Well in May 2014 I purchased a brand new 2014 KIA Soul (27 miles) from KIA ALOHA AUTO GROUP. Also invested in their so called exterior/interior SIMONIZ glass coat protection plan that was an additional $995. So long story short it was in the evening that I took possession of my brand new 2014 KIA SOUL. All was great. I really didnt check out the exterior assuming it was a brand new 2014 vehicle. All should be good. Well upon waking the next morning getting ready to take the keikis for a cruise in our new ride of course kids are out before me and my oldest son comes inside and tells me Nice ride, mom. But is it brand new? I said Yes, you no see the paper plates? He said I do. Thats why Im asking how come get all kind surface scratches and all swirls/spider webs around the whole vehicle? So I came out and yes all kinds of surface scratches and swirls throughout the entire vehicle. So I said Well we will stop by the car lot on our way out. So we did. Manager there was so sarcastic and no customer service skills. Anyways when he came out he said Well whats wrong? I said Can you take a look at the entire exterior and tell me whats wrong? He looked and had no problems so I had to point out the swirls and scratches. He said Well did you purchase the Simoniz protection plan? I said yes, he said Then no worries. That will take everything out. Dummy me was satisfied with that answer until we were cruising and I said Wait a minute so if I never take the Simoniz plan and pay extra $995 then what? Thats the kind of exterior I going be dealing with? Hmmmmm. So I waited for appointment to do my Simoniz protection. Got the vehicle back, looked great but in 2 days swirls were back and scratches were back. So again I call manager I take vehicle to their service dept and then am told by the manager that because the vehicle is black thats normal for black vehicles. LOL are you serious? Now I brought it back to you the day after and you told me the Simoniz that I purchased would take care of it and now you telling me 2 months later that thats part of owning a black vehicle. The upkeep is hard and its normal BS... So I call ** on July 2, 2014 and another idiot on the other end, Tyrone **, been leaving him voice mails 4 times in July, spoke to him once in Sept, left several messages in early Sept throughout Oct and finally 10/27/14 he tells me he spoke to manager at car lot and he says nothing wrong but agrees that there is spider webs throughout the entire exterior of the vehicle. Anyone with similar problems can you please contact me at **. If you have a solution or have someone I can talk to for some assistance on getting the dealer to provide some kind of solution. I am thinking of taking vehicle to maybe a detail shop to see what they say. I did take it to Maaco here in Aiea but he couldnt help me said I should take it to a detail shop unless I wanted him to repaint my car then he could help me. He couldnt even tell me that thats not a common thing for brand new black vehicles.
I have had issues with my transmission grinding in my 2008 Kia spectra LX, the transmission is a five speed manual. The transmission grinds while shifting in first and second. I had first brought the vehicle in for the issue in late 2010 with about 35,000 miles on the vehicle. They found nothing wrong. The issue persisted and has continued to get worse and now the vehicle is out of warranty. This vehicle has been to the local dealership 6 times and nothing can be found wrong. Independent repair facilities diagnosed the problem and recommended that Kia fix it under its warranty. Oddly enough, after the warranty expired and had taken it in for the last time, it needed a new transmission and the Kia dealership suggested it be replaced. The frustrating thing is that I was a master certified technician before I became disabled and know exactly what is wrong with the vehicle and continued to get the run around until the warranty expired.
I purchase a 2012 Kia Soul from Regal Kia and in 2016 the engine busted. There was no indications that there was a problem with the engine because the engine light never turned on. Also, a month after I had the car, the starter went dead, had to pay $400 for a new starter. I want everybody to know that the Kia Soul is not a very good car, do not buy them. When I got in touch with the Kia Headquarters, they did not want to take responsibility for their defective car. Warning: Do not buy the Kia Soul or any Kia cars. They are poorly made cars that dealership make money on. No I would not recommend a dog much more a friend.
Bought new Kia Soul 2014. Very hard to see out of when I am changing lanes. The wide right rear panel block view. I have had starting problems since October 2015. I never go anywhere without my jumper cables. In November 2015 I had to leave the car at dealership for 3 days so they could try to figure out the problem. They decided I needed a new battery. I am still having starting problems. I brought the car in last month they said there is no problem. Yesterday had to have it jumped 3 times. Im disgusted.
I own a 2008 KIA Rondo, the bearing in the crank went. I am 15,000 over the warranty limit, and 8 months past warranty. Bought it brand new. KIA Canada says simply too bad your warranty is up. They also said that it was an engine fail but does not consider this to be a safety issue so will not do a courtesy warranty to help me either. Which KIA says they have done in the past, I say **. I have driven KIAs for 10 years, exchanged last one before 5-year warranty, but was assured that engine would have failed as well. Taking peoples money on a product you dont stand behind is unfair. Now you offer 10-yr warranty. That tells me you may have known your engines were crap and now they may have improved. What about taking care of your old customers who bought your garbage first. I still owe money on a car that is useless. There are many of other people out there like me and I will find them and get the word out.
I am a loyal customer that has not missed a payment. I work in a call center and my husband in a mall both closed due to COVID. I called to put one extension on they told me to call back next month if your still not working. I call and the agent tells me, no, I AM PROBED TO ASK YOU QUESTIONS AND YOU DO NOT QUALIFY. Really, I did prior what is different he said, Well you get unemployment. I said, Yes I didnt lie. I told you that and FYI so did I last month. He did not care to help me at all. I told him I am a family of 6. Unemployment barely covers food let alone rent, even told him that I had to move to a smaller cheaper apt cause I couldnt afford mine.Do not buy from them. IF THEY CANT HELP CUSTOMERS IN TIME OF CRISIS THEY SHOULD NOT GET ANY OF OUR BUSINESS. I have sent many people to them NEVER again and I will be sure to post in every platform I can think of to warn all. BBB, Google, Consumer Ad, and I will be informing the ATTORNEY General and I will be blasting them on shame on you, all online news pages. I will be sure everyone sees that this is not a company that cares about people but instead their pockets when they are so many grants/loans to keep their business afloat. I even told the guy how he is making bank off of customers like me. I lease so I defer my payments it extends my lease which means at the end of the term they will be hitting me with so many fees for being over miles. SHAME ON YOU.
As a Disabled Veteran &Traveling Veterans Advocate, my Service Dog Koko really LOVE this car UNCONDITIONALLY, because it’s dependable, cost efficient, roomy and beautiful. Due to I have numerous VA Doctor’s Appointments it feels outstanding that I have an extremely reliable vehicle.
I took my 2015 Kia Rio into the dealership to have an electrical issue with my front passenger turn signal taken care of and was told that because the headlight assembly was cracked from the INSIDE, it was not covered under warranty. Now, I dont trust these weasels one iota, so I went in and look at this purported damage myself. What I found was a small crack in the plastic INSIDE of a capped off port, alongside a missing turn signal electrical contact. They claim that this damage indicates user fault and isnt covered under warranty. They further explained that because the car has damage on the front bumper (which is actually a minuscule scratch on the right wheel well that doesnt even reach the headlight) this indicates that impact damage was the probable cause. Now tell me, even if I somehow managed to hit something and miraculously avoid any damage to my front bumper or headlight or grill or anything else in the vicinity of the headlight assembly save for the aforementioned tiny scratch, how in the hell would I then have impacted hard enough to crack a tiny piece of plastic nestled deep inside of an assembly? No, the more logical conclusion is that this is a cheap piece of ** part on a cheap piece of ** car that this cheap piece of ** company will do anything to avoid having to own up to and pay for. Id recommend coughing up for a more quality vehicle from a more reputable and consumer friendly automaker. As it has become clear to me, KIA is neither of those things.
Safest car on the planet. Bought the SUV on 7/18/15, totaled on 7/22/15. This car saved my wifes life. All air bags went off, cushioned her like a baby. Thank you Kia.
I purchased a Kia Sorento back in 03 and have always taken my car for major services to the same dealer since. Recently, my car has had a vibration on acceleration and runs sluggish. There is a rattle on acceleration as well. To make my story short, I took it to the dealer and they checked it out and told me it needed spark plugs and wires replaced to a sum of $469.00. I got it done. A week later, I was having the same problem. I made another appointment. They checked it again and said it needed coils to the sum of $444.00. I asked if this will take care of the problem. They said yes. Today, 4/9/12, my car was towed to the dealer: same problem, only worse! The dealer said they will check again, but they will not cover the fix if it is something else. I told them that’s what they told me that was wrong; therefore, I am not paying one more cent!
I purchased a used 2008 Kia Rondo in Houston, Texas in May of 2009. It had around 38,000 miles on it but appeared to be in a very good shape. About a month ago, which was in October, 2011, the air conditioner started blowing only hot air. I brought in to West Side Kia in Katy, TX and was told that I needed a new air conditioning compressor and it would cost me $1,300 to fix it. My car is out of warranty because it has around 62,000 miles on it. The service advisor told me that I need to consider whether or not I want to put that kind of money into my Rondo or just trade it in for something new. My God, the car is only 3 years old! I was in shock.I asked the service advisor if this was what the quality the consumer should expect--only three years use of a Kia before having to trade it in? I asked him how a car so young would already need a new air conditioning compressor. What made matters worst was I was approached by two very pushy sales people, one of which, I told that if I had to buy another car, it certainly would not be a Kia. Ive had cars that have had over 150,000 miles on it with air conditioners that still worked like they did when the car was brand new. I was also informed that a Kia cannot use anything but Kia parts and because of this, the cost of a new compressor was triple what a regular one would cost me. It seems to me that there is something very wrong about this. I feel as if Ive been ripped off and I cannot afford to buy another car right now.
In October 2011, I purchased a new 2012 Kia Soul. Within the year, I began to hear a knocking sound in my engine. On each maintenance visit, Id bring up this issue and was told they were unable to confirm the knocking sound. Fast forward to 06/24/2017, I get this loud noise on a cold start from my vehicle. Again, I take it to a Kia dealership. After years of trying to get someone to acknowledge the knocking sound, the dealership acknowledges it and states the noise is coming from the valve train and that Ill need a new engine. Dealership contacts Kia but Kia denies my warranty claim because the knocking sound isnt loud enough. Im the original owner of the vehicle with 88,500 miles so I dont have much time left before Im no longer eligible for the warranty. The dealership tells me that Ill have to contact Kias 800 number if I want to dispute the findings and obtain approval to proceed with the warranty work for the engine. My husband makes an initial call to the 800 number and after 30 minutes of arguing is told nothing can be done and thats the end of it. No case was opened or referred for further review. I then place my call. I am calm and collective and explain the issue Im having and get referred to a case manager by the name of Hei. I, again, go through the pain of explaining my issue. Initially she states that Kia would not have denied the claim because its covered under warranty. With this knowledge, I inquire to find out how were able to forward the approval over to the dealership so that they can begin the repairs on my work and provide me with a rental. She then tells me that my car is not under any recalls. Now Im just dumbfounded because nowhere in our conversation did I ever state I was there for a recall. The case manager then proceeds to tell me that she has nothing on file regarding my issue and will need to contact the dealer and provides me with a 2-3 business day turnaround. I explain that this is an ongoing issue and I have a 10.5 hr trip coming up and I need this resolved sooner. She then tries to tell me that she has to contact the dealer because the dealer hasnt reached out to Kia. This is when my frustration begins to set in. Now Ive been going around in circles for about 30 minutes and she hasnt heard any of what my complaint is. I reiterate our conversation and then she becomes hostile. Im frustrated and ask for a manager. Im then told I cant speak to a manager! I said Look, Im not getting any form of resolution and this is what I was sent to you for. Id like to speak to a manager. She then tells me I dont know you! I need to talk to the dealer. I said Thats fine, what I dont understand is why they cant be contacted right now? After requesting to be conferenced in with the dealer, the case manager felt I was going around in circles and informs me shes going to disconnect me, and she did. My case manager hung up on me with no offer to resolve my issue or follow up. About 2 hours later, I contact the 800 number again. I explain my situation, again, and kindly request to speak to a manager at this point due to the conversations that took place earlier that morning. The rep tried to review my situation and then begins the same vicious cycle that took place earlier that morning. Theres an obvious miscommunication issue and a lack of acknowledgement on Kias side. All Im asking for is to speak to someone who can actually do something to get the authorization out to the dealership so they can begin the repairs. When we finally hit a stopping point, the rep finally gives in and provides me with the name and extension number for a manager who conveniently isnt available. I leave a message and request a call back because Ive already spent over an hour and a half combined on these calls with Kia. Its been about 4 hours and I have not received a call back. Kia is avoiding the issue. Its been confirmed I need an engine replacement. They want to wait until the engine basically explodes is what Im gathering. When it does, theres a very good chance Ill be out of warranty. They dont care if my engine dies on my venture or if my family will be put at risk because my vehicles been disabled and Im literally stuck in the middle of the road, exposed to other drivers who may not be aware and smack right into us. Then what? Its ridiculous that I have to resort to this. I will file a suit in court if needed to get this issue resolved.
My elderly grandparents KIA Rondo just threw the connecting rods at 123,000 kms. Garage said its the 7th KIA they have had in within a year with similar low kilometer shot engines. Contacted KIA customer relations to see if this is a known flaw and all they had to say (paraphrased) was you had a warranty for 100,000 kms, so we fulfilled our obligations. Has anyone else had a car that was essentially useless after only 120,000 kms? Looks like I am headed back to the domestics, I cant fathom wasting money on a new car that will be useless that fast.
Bought my Kia Sorento in 2012. It is a 2011 only had 29,000 miles when purchased. After having the vehicle for 1 week I noticed the car was very shaky on the highway. I took it back to the dealer (not Kia dealer) it was purchased from and they said a tire is bald and they would not replace. One month later I was driving home and my windshield cracked all the way up the entire window. Took it to be replaced thinking maybe a rock hit it and they brought me into the bay to show me that the windshield had been cracked from the inside because a heating element blew. Kia would not do anything to help. I have had to replace numerous parts and have many things fixed that shouldve not had to be fixed so early on in a vehicle (ex) oil pan cracked, starter stopped working, struts and wheel bearings needed replacement very early on. Since the car was purchased Ive replaced my tires 4 times, had 4 alignments and the car still shakes... Recently the radio stopped working all the time and chooses when it wants to turn on. I wrote a review on twitter and Kia consumer reached out saying they would like to help. They called me got all info VIN, mileage etc. Told me to bring to a Kia dealership to have it looked at. I brought my car at the designated time they gave me. They ended up giving me a rental for the weekend so they can look at it only for monday to come and Kia consumer care calls me to tell me there is nothing they can do because of the mileage. Are you kidding me? They knew the mileage before having me waste my time to go have it looked at. Now they are also telling me the ball joints need to be replaced which is why it shakes. Thats funny. Ive had this car 4 years and youre telling me not one mechanic has figured that out... Kia consumer care DOES NOT CARE. Kia is the absolute worst company ever. I would never recommend buying a Kia unless youre looking to dump all of your money into fixing the car constantly.
I have a 4.5yo Sorento that had the engine fail on the freeway. After $440 to get it towed to Lakeside Kia we have been told the car isnt there, it is there, it was the turbo charger, it was the piston, it is under warranty, it is still be assessed we can get a replacement car. We can not get a replacement car. In the meantime it has been 3 weeks and no one is giving a straight answer or saying when it will be fixed. The warranty is rubbish. Never buy a Kia.
I bought this Kia Sorento in 2006, brand new. I have been the only driver and have put 75,000 miles on it. I have had nothing but problems, and of course none that the extended warranty I paid dearly for nor the power train 100,000 mile warranty cover. Most recently, I had a series of breakdowns that finally resulted in my Kia needing a fuel pump, so I was told. $800.00 later, I pick up my Sorento to start it and have a loud knocking noise as well as my check engine light on. Come to find out, the mechanic noted that a week before when the car was dropped off. So, my cars been at Kia for 10 days and I pick it not completely fixed. I was told it is probably crank barrings(!?) and it will be fine for now.My car broke down again on my way home, yes, after $800.00 and a new fuel pump? So, I call the Kia dealership, I bought it from to be asked. Did you have the timing belt changed at 60,000 miles? Now, how would I know that? So, he tells me now my extended and power train warranties are null. I will never buy another Kia or Hyundai product ever again, and I will spread the word loudly! I am not a hateful person, I work hard as a registered Nurse in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and have dedicated my life to helping people. I am recently a single mom of a 17 year-old who wants to go to college and I just cant afford to not have a car, or to have a car that is not reliable. I also feel I was cheated into a warranty that will not be honored, and it is disappointing. Please pass the word about the dishonesty of Kia.
I took my brand new Kia 2013 (purchased in October 2012) in because I noticed peeling paint and rust spots. They had me bring it in numerous times, took pictures, etc. to only be told that it was my fault. They said the rust looks like a rock hit it, and the peeling paint must be from someone getting in and out of the car. They told us that our paint and corrosion warranty didnt cover this. The car is brand new and we dont drive too far in it. I also keep our cars very clean, both inside and outside. My husband works from home and I work 5 minutes from home so there is no excessive use in our car. Even if there was, there is no way this should happen. I purchased a 2004 Nissan Altima in February of 04 and just sold it in June. It had no paint issues nor rust. Also, the city gas mileage isnt what they advertise and we told them about that. They simply said, there are no current recalls. Also, when we start the car first time of the day and reverse, it makes a grinding noise. I told them about this, they checked it out 3 times now, and said they cant reproduce the sound. Also, when we bought the car, we asked for a 3rd spare key. The saleswoman said this would be no problem. We called, emailed, and showed up in person and each time were told that it would be sent to us. This began in October of 2012 when we bought it and it is now August 2013 and we have never received a key. They literally begged us for a great review when we bought the car and we gave it to them because there were no issues immediately. They raved how their customer support was top of the line, I DISAGREE! I plan on pursuing my complaints with the BBB, local news, consumer reports, and via word of mouth.
I brought the car to the dealer with what appeared to be a wheel bearing problem, 98,300 miles. It had been a great car. I followed all maintenance according to the service manual. They called me back 2 days later and said it was internal transmission damage, manual transmission. When was the last time somebody heard of a modern manual trans failing? After getting the runaround for almost a month, they tell me that I should have been following the severe service schedule because I live in New York. The car has had an easy life, well cared for and garaged. So, Kia warranty isnt worth the paper it was written on in the manual. The 10/100 powertrain warranty is a scam. Warning, if you have a Kia, ignore the service schedule and follow the severe service duty schedule. That way, they can deny your claim later because it was used in severe service.
Rear shocks were leaking - I had to replace rear tires, car has 56k miles. Kia says Kias 60k warranty or 5-year warranty is void because 15 wheels were changed to 17 and car wasnt build for 17 wheels and tires (give me a break). I asked several tire shops. All said tires were ruined because of defective leaking shocks, not the size of wheels or tires.
I bought a new KIA Rondo in Aug 09. It had powered mirrors on the sun visor. It was hardly used on the first year. Later, when my wife started using them on the co-drivers side, they got hard and started cracking. Within six months, it cracked and become inoperable. Later, when I tried my side, first thing I observed was that they were already repaired with glue and when I started operating them more often, that one also broke like a crispy wafer. When I complained about this to Southtown Kia in Edmonton South, they refused to replace it. They said its not covered by warranty and asked me to call customer experience department at 1-877 542 2886, who said that they cannot do anything and talk to service again. Now they are passing the ball to each other and nothing is done.
2012 Kia Sorento - My parents bought the Kia brand new. The drivers side seat adjustment contraption has broken twice now! They did replace it the first time for free, but Im not so sure about this time. There needs to be something other than a piece of plastic holding that contraption in place.
My girlfriend has a 2012 KIA Sorento. After 40000 miles the engine seized. We brought it to the dealer and they asked for service records. When we provided them they still would not honor the warranty. They said it could be improper maintenance and said we had to prove it was their fault. (Since we had gone to Firestone and a few other places for oil changes, they can now say it was their fault not KIAs and we would then have to fight a different vendor to replace the engine.)I was initially too shocked to be angry, but when they said we could pay them to take apart the motor to prove fault, I spoke to another mechanic who has dealt with this before. He said they are not likely to find anything that will prove anything either way and we will just be out an additional 500 dollars. I am now taking the only recourse I have without money for a lawyer. I am telling every outlet I can find to go with a different company. This feels like fraud to me. We did what was asked of us in the handbook and they just dont want to honor their warranty. It never says anywhere that if you dont use KIA for everything, you might as well write off your warranty. So now we are stuck without a car and with a probable 5K cost facing us because we did the right thing. It is not honest or fair that a car from 2012 with 40K miles has a dead engine. There are plenty of reviews about this type of thing on the internet. I recommend you look long and hard before falling for the same trick we did. We probably wont have a choice since there are still 3 years on the note so we cant really do anything but let them bully us. Please consider any other car before KIA. #dontbuyKIA #KIA
I brought my car in for 15,000 miles maintenance. Alignment way off; told me they couldnt fix it 100%. I asked why and they said something must be bent. I asked them what? They replied they didnt know. Told me I had recall for front right axle. They had to order the part and would recheck wear on tires to see if their incomplete alignment caused any issues. So about a month later I brought it back in and they said wear was fine, replaced right front axle and I had hope that was the reason the alignment couldnt be fixed 100%. They knew I was going on over 2,000 mile trip for sons wedding. I have no shimmy, although alignment isnt 100%, it still seems to be okay. About 100-150 miles from destination, have EMTs pull up on right side of my car and roll down their window. We roll down ours and they point to my passenger rear tire and then angle their arm. We pull off immediately and sure as heck my passenger rear tire is bent inward at top, around 11 oclock. I drive 50 mph rest of way, check alignment and Im not pulling any worse than before. I call Kia Roadside assistance and they come tow my car to local dealership. They didnt look at my car immediately, but had only had it 2 hours and call me and let me know that my front passenger strut is bent (Why didnt the dealership notice this when they replaced the axle on that side, or when they couldnt correct the alignment 100%). If it took this dealership less than 2 hours to find the bent right strut, why didnt they find it? Why didnt they look. Supposedly going to cost me $680 plus tax to fix (Not under warranty... WHY??). I hit nothing, I ran over nothing. Is this possibly a recall issue, or should be a recall issue and due to strut being bent, it bent my back right tire inward. Supposedly once strut is replaced and car is realigned, my passenger rear tire will straighten out. Im not stupid. Maybe because Im female they think I am, but Ive worked on cars for over 25 years. Im betting that my rear passenger tie rod is bent. I even mentioned it at the dealership, in the service department, but they are adamant that itll be fixed once the strut is replaced and the car is realigned. They have already said that they could tell I didnt run over or hit anything, so why am I paying out of pocket anyway? Isnt it supposed to be under warranty? If the tie rod is bent, isnt that the fault of the dealership that did my original alignment and told me that they thought something might be bent, but didnt look for it? Then again when they replaced the passenger front axle (recall) and didnt notice it and still couldnt get it aligned? Shouldnt they pay for this? Im frustrated and angry, first for them treating me like Im stupid because Im a girl and girls dont know anything about cars... BS, and then when Im suggesting itll be more than just the strut, telling me that Im not qualified (another way to say that Im a girl and girls dont know anything about cars) to think that..... And they are the experts, yet they didnt even look for what they thought was bent. I mean they literally said we think something is bent and then didnt look for it. Whats wrong with that picture? Annoyed, from California and Stuck in Illinois until my car is fixed!!!
Purchased my Sorento 1 1-2 ago and have already had to replace Engine, brakes and rotors twice and now part of the transmission is bad. Kia doesn’t seem to care or want to help me. Think twice before you purchase a Kia vehicle. They will break and break on you and you will be too far upside down to unload it.
I purchased the Kia about 1 1/2 years ago. I have 48000 miles on it. Last week it started blowing white smoke out of the tailpipe. I checked the oil, which was fine, and then called and made an appointment at the dealership since it is under warranty. I took it in yesterday only to be told that the engine was ready to blow. I thought my day couldnt get any worse until the Kia rep told me that I needed to gather up all of my receipts and that of all maintenance reports on my vehicle. It would then be submitted to Kia to see if it met their approval for their warranty. This would have been fine except for the fact that the service person told me that if I ever went over 3500 miles in between changes they would decline the warranty. I have completed oil changes at home and the service person said that would be fine except that I have to prove that it was for the Kia. Now, there was no indicator light that ever came on in this vehicle. I have faithfully changed or had changed my oil and again NO INDICATOR light came on that anything was wrong. Basically I was told good luck in getting it fixed. I have read the other complaints and it seems like I am not the only one. I owe 26000.00 on this vehicle and they said that if (when) Kia declines the work then they will be happy to replace my engine for the price of $5000.00-$6000.00. Even if I didnt complete the oil changes that I did a BRAND NEW car should not have a blown engine in 48000 miles. After speaking with their rep it was made very clear to me that they are going to decline anything that I give them. When I asked about it being a Kia issue that the indicator lights werent on I was told Well I dont know why they didnt come on and Slug in the tank means oil leak I stated to the rep that if the seals leaked because of a problem with their motor that would also cause slug in tank too right? The guy told me You would have to prove that. I will never buy another Kia. Their warranty sounds good but is full of loopholes to make a customer believe that they are getting amazing coverage when what it really is is a way to screw people out their money, their car, and their wellbeing.
I had a sale agreement with proper payments and documents for buying a car for my disabled dad of 81 years old. The local Kia company didnt keep their promises and the sale contract and overcharged us. I tried to reach the international Kia Consumer and post-sales department via internet with several attempts. Until now Kia International never replied me. Is this Kias policy?
Took my car to Kia East Syracuse for warranty service. Was told car needed to be kept overnight while they waited for a part. Was called next day. Salesman stated following: “Hi Rose, we just found out your part won’t be in until the first week in October, and your lease happens to end the first week in October. Why dont you come in and get a new lease vehicle. I stated I would not be purchasing a new vehicle. The service department is stating they dont have a loaner car for me, they want me to go almost three weeks without a vehicle. I contacted Kia Corporate and they state that they cant help, since the dealer is claiming they dont have a car they can offer as a loaner. They stated they could possibly rent me a car, but they need a manager to authorize and that takes 48 hours. Ive never heard of a car company doing warranty work on a car where the part takes 3 weeks to procure and will not offer a loaner car to drive. Not the happy Kia experience I see in their commercials. Won’t buy another Kia and neither will my family members unless they can make this right.
I traded in my 2011 Kia Sorento (that I loved!) and purchased a 2015 Kia Sorento in July 2014. On November 7, 2014, my husband and I were driving to the dealership for an oil change and then headed out of town for the weekend. We were about 15 miles from the dealership, on a three-lane interstate in rush hour traffic going 70 mph when the engine killed without any warning. Luckily we were able to get to the side of the road safely. We were unable to start the vehicle yet, all the lights would come on. We called the dealership and they told us to call Roadside Assistance. We had the Sorento towed to the dealership. They said a tech would look at it over the weekend and offered the number to Enterprise Car Rentals. We rented (and paid for) a vehicle (A 2015 KIA SORENTO with the same amount of miles!) so we could continue on our trip. On November 10, 2014, the dealership called to say the engine had blown, they didnt know why, and had never seen this in a brand new car. My husband had to suggest that they offer a loaner car. As of today, November 17, 2014, I still have the loaner, supposedly the new engine has arrived at the dealership yet now they need to order a new starter because that died too after trying to start the vehicle when the engine died (??). I am NOT a happy Kia customer and am not happy with their product to say the least. Now I am tied into a hefty finance agreement for a substandard vehicle that has been out of commission for 10 days and counting. I wish I would have purchased a Chevy Traverse.
I purchased my Kia Soul in 2015 at Kia Of Asheville in February of 2015. I havent had any problems until this morning. I was coming back from vacation & I was an hour away from home. While going up a mountain, all of a sudden my clutch started shifting on its own without me even putting the clutch in (The engine light didnt come on either) then there was a strong burning rubber smell in the car so I pulled over turned off my car & turn the hazard lights on and called my mother-in-law. A few minutes into our conversation my hazard lights died and I could not start the car. I called Kia roadside assistance and they came and picked me up and took me to the Kia dealership where I purchased my vehicle in 2015.I have been driving manual transmissions for more than 20 years, my last vehicle the clutch lasted almost 6 years before needing replaced. I have never had my clutch and battery go out at the same time. Kia of Asheville is saying that its not covered under Warranty but they need to get into the transmission to know for sure which will cost more money! They called me back with a worse scenario cost of $1500 unless its caused by something under the warranty. But Why would I buy a battery from Kia if this one only lasted a little over two years? And what about the clutch!? Theres only 50,000 miles on my car & my clutch should of lasted at least 100,000. I know a clutch is a wearable part but its strange that the battery and clutch went out at the same time because theyre two separate entities.I think theres something else going on and Im afraid Kia is going to say the Warranty is not going to cover this. Has anyone else had this problem? Im reading all the horror stories about Kia and its got me convinced that I wont buy another Kia. I found out Kia & Honda have a lawsuit against them for the type of wiring they use. Did I make a mistake in buying my car?
The vehicle started knocking at 9345 miles and when it drives slow.
I really like this car but would not buy another one because all their dealers in Stafford, Stoke and Crewe and Kia UK themselves are absolutely hopeless and their 7 year warranty is a big joke and worthless. I have got white corrosion on 3 of my alloy wheels. They refused my claim but said that they would replace 1 of them as a gesture of goodwill as long as I do not write to websites like this one. I have refused. What is the use of replacing just 1 wheel. Who is going to pay for the other 2 wheels? Not me.
I purchased a 2017 Kia Sedona from a Kia dealer in Queens, NY in 2017 with 50 miles. The car is perfect for my family of six as it is roomy and the LX model offered enough accommodations which made it easy to travel with five children. I was very happy with my vehicle and Kia until recently. I had an engine malfunction while driving on a highway with a relative and my children. It was New Years Eve 12/31/20, and I decided to take my sister and children shopping at a store that was about ten miles away. We live in the Suburbs which can get rural in some areas and in order to get to this one store, in particular, I had to take a highway to travel there. When I initially started the car I heard a rattling sound which I thought was due to the cold weather, however, as I drove off and drove further and approached the highway the car started to decelerate. After the car decelerated the car cut off while I was driving. In a panic, I started the car again and pulled over to the side. I had to repeat turning the car on, the car shutting off and decelerating, turning the car on, and drive ten miles to return back home. The very next day 1/1/2021 I had the car towed to the dealership that handled my lease buyout. The service manager was nice exhibited professionalism and willing to offer exceptional services to ensure that my car was repaired and that I understood the repair process. He informed of charges that would be incurred if the warranty was not covered by Kia. So everything at the dealer was done with professionalism and courtesy. The problem that I experienced with Kia was and is that they are not honoring the warranty. The Service Manager indicated that receipts were required to document oil changes performed on the 2017 Kia Sedona to ensure that maintenance was performed routinely. I provided receipts that were kept from service performed from Kia dealerships, however, was unable to produce enough receipts for Kia to honor the warranty. I contacted the Kia Customer Service which represents corporate, the customer services representatives I spoke with exhibited professionalism and advised me to try to get receipts of purchases of oil for any oil changes done outside of a service shop. However, I am unable to. So here I am one and a half months without a car, I am renting a car while paying my monthly finance bill, and I believe Kia will not honor my warranty because of lack of receipts of oil changes.I also find it ironic that I had the car serviced in November 2020 at a Kia dealership and they are not honoring the repairs. I hope that this issue is not an issue with the Sedona as I had around 65,000 miles on the car at the time the engine malfunctioned. I did check another website United States Department of Transportation Traffic Safety Administration where recently a consumer reported the same issue. I pray that this is not the beginning of an issue like Kia experienced with the Kia class engine failure class-action lawsuit in 2019. Although I love the Kia Sedona I probably will not purchase another Kia if the company does not offer reasonable solutions for this matter.
Absolutely great job done by Kia on Stinger GT/AWD. Unbelievable. I am professional driver, my friend just bought this car. And I drive a lot with him. Amazing car! For the money. I cant believe its Kia. I drove a lot of different cars and trucks in 30 years... Porsche level.
2003 Kia Sorento heater and lights in the center dash controls: I bought it brand new; second was sold in GA in 2002. The heater has never gotten hot or even warm. On cold days, it takes about 20 to 30 minutes of driving to get the inside of the car—bearable but still cold. It has been in the shop multiple times and the service department says nothing is wrong. If you turn the fan on more than low it will stay ice cold on the inside of the car forever. Also, on cold days (below 38 F) the center dash control lights will go completely off or cycle over and over very fast so there is no control over any of the functions until the lights settle down and stay on normally, which is when it gets warm (bearable, the chill is mostly not bad) in the car. This has occurred since it was a year old, but the problem with the heater not working kept our attention after sending it in for a couple of times on the light problem. I do like the fact that it still runs and drives good with all service work recommended being done on time most of it at Kia, although the oil and filter changes were done elsewhere most of the time unless it was scheduled for service work at the same time. I installed a new set of spark plugs and actually did a couple of oil and filter changes myself to make sure it could be done by me if needed. I kept all paperwork. We just gave up on the heater being broken and learned to live with it after 5 years or so went by, but these problems have never been fixed for even a minute. I’m totally dissatisfied with Kia service on these two problems. A few months ago, the crankshaft pulley bolt broke and stranded us at BJs Gas pumps in Cumming, GA on Saturday night on Thanksgiving weekend. So we had it towed to Kia Mall of GA where we bought it and had to raise Cain for 6 to 8 weeks before they finally reimbursed us for the tow because the bolt had been replaced on a recall notice at their service department in 2007, I believe. I have never had to spend so much money on service work to keep a warranty in force, but in the long run it has been worth it because I just picked it up after having to replace the electronic crankshaft and camshaft sensors at 92,000 miles and they did replace the leaking valve cover gaskets under warranty. I did have to shell out $1620.00 for this trip to the shop, replace all the belts and change out the anti-freeze. Hopefully, it will keep running without any further serious problems for a year or so to make this trip worthwhile economically. I would buy another Sorento, but I would definitely not accept any excuses about not correcting any type of problems such as the ones Ive had with this one. All in all, I am semi-satisfied with the Sorento. I have never kept an auto this long before except my 1998 Expedition and I have spent a whole lot less money on the upkeep for the Expy. It just loves gasoline so much I cannot afford to drive it much and it isnt worth much on the market to sell. So I will keep it around as long as possible and give it to one of my grandchildren one day if they want.
My car has been intermittently cutting off. The last incident was on Monday morning, it would not start - even though all the functions came on. Car had to be towed to the Dealer. Dealer confirmed that the car was NOT starting, and it was reverting to the default setting/test setting or something like that. They were looking into it. Well - they did not give me a loaner vehicle - even after repeated request, and the Customer Complaint service informed me that I need to secure transportation on my own and that he too has to do so for his own CHEVY.. talk about customer service that SUCKS!!Well, it is Day 3 - no calls from KIA to me, I am the one who has been checking on the status of my vehicle daily. The KIA rep supposedly came out yesterday but because they are not able to duplicate the error - they are unable to assist. So the bottom line, from the Complaints service Rep that I just spoke with is - Take the car, since it starts now... but we cannot guarantee it will not do the same thing. Also, Ive found online complaints where the KIA has just cut out while driving. This horrifies me, since I have young children and we have long commutes. I need some help, please.
The ECMs re-flash/recall, this ECM re-flash, consisted of updating the software originally supplied from the car maker, and changing the ECMs Air/Fuel Ratio Algorithms to suit the cars fuel air ratio. This new software seems to keep the turbos waste gate open too much during wide open throttle causing the turbo not to spool up all the way resulting in boost loss, and obviously power loss. My question is, why update the software, instead of replacing a potentially faulty part that part being the FCV or Fuel Control Valve? Oh yeah, its cheaper than re-engineering of the faulty FCV, and replacing it with one that does not have a design flaw, better and even more expensive is, why not replace it with a tried and true fuel pressure regulator? Oh yeah cost, so KIA decided to take the easy route it seems, and detune the car, so the car does not reach full boost saving the faulty FCV. It appears they want to remove the power because the turbo is located near the firewall and placed on the back side of the engine. If the pressurized part & the axial lode of the turbo fails, and is spinning at an average of 150,000, this can act like a grenade under the hood throwing shrapnel everywhere, possibly causing both driver and passenger injury or death, as the force of pieces of hot steel and aluminum from the axial load, plus the inertia of rotating blades at 150,000 rpm would penetrate through the firewall into the front seat. I am now afraid to drive this car, let alone trade it in knowing it could hurt someone.
My 2014 Kia Sportage has had the same engine issue 4 times, forcing it to go into limp mode and has requiring a tow. Kia has assured us that it was fixed each time. This last time it happened 200 miles away, forcing me to drive out to pick up my wife. After the issue was fixed, we attempted to drive it back home only to have the same issue happen a mile down the road. Now Kia is refusing to provide us with a rental car during the time that the vehicle is being transported back to us, which could take up to 10 days. Being a family of four with two working parents, this situation is less than ideal. Kia has not proven to be reliable or trusted to make it right. They have owned the issue, but in the end they will leave you out to dry.
Vehicle exhibited more frequent and louder squealing noise problems from steering. After service recall work was performed than before work was supposedly performed at Regal Kia Service Department. I am concerned for my safety when driving this vehicle now. Also there was damage to rear bumper licence plate frame like the car scraped the ground.
After purchasing a new Kia Sport and financing it through the Kia finance I have had one bad experience after another. I set the vehicle up on auto payment and that went fine for 1 month. After 1 month Feb 2016 I received a letter stating the payment was not made. I called and explain to the finance rep that it was set up on auto payment and that I even tried to go online and make the payment and I was not able. After some looking into the matter the rep informed me the car was totaled and they had some sort of insurance hold on it. I told them this was a mistake as the car was not totaled . After verifying insurance etc... they have not been able to successfully release the hold on this vehicle. It is now May 28th and I have called at least 10 times to resolve the issue with them with no success. Just a lot of promises to call me back, to get the issue resolved and still no success. They do not seem to have any clue how to resolve issue from department to department. Now after 3 months they are sending me collection notices and threatening letters. I have consistently attempted to rectify the problem and they are ineffective and lack any sort of resolution capacity. PLEASE KIA get it together. I refuse to pay another dime till I have something in writing stating this situation is your problem. I do not want my credit ruined because you put a hold on my vehicle by mistake. And furthermore what about the other party who totaled their vehicle. What misfortune has KIA perpetrated on them.
I purchased a 2011 Kia Soul on May 24th. I have received the New Vehicle Purchase & Delivery Survey. I have tried to log on to the website to fill out the questionnaire. I get on the website but the user ID & password sent to me doesn’t allow me to access the site. I have tried to get to your main website to report the matter to your customer service department but the website comes up not found.Any ideas on how I can complete the survey online will be most welcome. Thanks.
Easy to drive, Im up high enough, that makes it easy see things. I love my Kia. Easy to park, comfortable ride, gets good gas mileage, lots of room, the backseats fold down so you can haul big items. Easy to get in and out of the vehicle. Has several airbags, has Bluetooth.
My air bag light came on while driving so I took it to the dealer. I was informed the sensor was bad on the track on the passenger side and had to be replaced. None of my airbags works due to this problem. It is going to cost me over $600 to fix this because my extended warranty does not cover it and I am 5,000 miles over 60,000 miles or it would have been covered. Are they serious? My extended warranty they sold me is not even with Kia. Something is seriously wrong and I think Kia should be checked on this air bag issue also.
Kia Sorento wont start. When I get in the car to start it and push the button, everything on the inside will come on, but the engine wont turn over. I have been stranded 5 times this week, and now the piece of ** is sitting in the parking lot at work and wont start. Sometimes, if I sit there long enough, I can get it started. Several months ago, I could not get it started. I called Kia Emergency rescue and a wrecker driver showed up. He got in the car, pushed on the brake (to the floorboard) 3 times and it started right up. He said that this is a common problem with Kias and that is how you get it started. So - that is what I have been doing, but the problem is just getting worse. Two weeks ago, I was headed out of the office to my daughter in labor, and guess what - it wouldnt start. After about 15 minutes I got it started. I called service at the dealership where it was purchased, and at first they denied it, then the lady on the phone said that Kia was aware of this problem. I asked her why were the consumers not made aware of this. She had no answer. Earlier this week, again it happened. I called Kia direct and filed a complaint and was given a case number. Of course, they deny any knowledge of this problem. They asked me if I wanted the car replaced and I told them yes, but not with a Kia. That didnt go over very well. So on a Saturday, I have to get a ride to my office, pick the piece of ** up and go to the dealership with it. I have already been told they wont give me a loaner car. We will see about that tomorrow. I am very disappointed with this vehicle. Oh yes - the 3rd back up camera is out. This car is only 1 year old. Do not buy Kia. They do not back their product! As soon as I can, this thing will be traded for a more reliable vehicle.
i have been having trouble putting fuel in my 2003 Kia Sorento. My warranty has already expired. I did get a recall letter from Kia for the fuel filter replacement, at which time I felt sure this was my problem, and since it was a recall, would be taken care of by Kia. They explained to me that the reason it was recalled was because it was not listed in the manual at all, as something to be changed every so many miles. They sent two pages to be added to the manual. My local Kia dealership did change the fuel filter. That same day, after trying to put fuel in the car, I find nothing had changed. I called them and asked them to look at it again, and took it back several days later, as they were to change another recall, known as the induction control valve, and check my fuel tank once again. They told me that a charcoal canister located in the fuel system had come apart, and I now had charcoal debris in my gas tank, which of course was not covered, and that part was $134.90, and the labor would be $199.00. I went home and went through my manual for a couple of hours trying to locate this charcoal canister, to better understand how such a thing could happen. After having no luck locating it in the manual, I called Kia, and told them my dilemma, and asked them if they could tell me where in the manual this part is located, and are you ready for this? I was told it was not in the manual, because it was not listed as maintenance! I asked well how would anyone know it was even there, if it wasnt listed. They said it was just a part that was never to be changed at any point and time. Now Im going to be out $350.00, on a part that no one knows existed, nor was ever to be changed. I write this in hopes that it will help anyone else, who is having similar problems. If your fuel spits back at you, or you have to dribble the fuel in, it may be this part that no one knew about, or was not a part that should ever need maintenance. Sorry, but a Kia is not in my future.
I bought my car brand new in March of 2011 from Phil Smith Kia in Lighthouse Point Florida. It was one of the newer models of the Kia Soul, shadow black. A couple months after buying the car I noticed that the tire pressure light was constantly on. I ask on my next oil change and of course they said it just needed air, but boy were they wrong. I wish I knew right then to declare my car a lemon under Florida State Law. Months went by and the issue still persisted. I was still told to ignore it, that when I came there they would just reset it and it would stop. Two years later in 2013 while driving in the middle of the night, all the indicator lights starting going off in my car simultaneously and the car shut down. It would not restart! 2 years old less than 20,000 miles! I had it towed backed to Phil Smith Kia. They said a module had to be ordered for my car. They ordered it, the manager Mihai left and all of a sudden it was never ordered and of course they didnt see what the problem was. Nothing was showing up when they run test. At this point Sheldon is taking care of my car. A year passed, tire pressure light still on, when all of a sudden all of the lights simultaneously again. Imagine my fear of my car shutting off again. And when I say all the lights I mean, tire pressure light, air bag light, engine light, brake light, abs light. The electric odometer wasnt working. The rpm was going up and down. It was as if my car was possessed! I immediately took it to the dealership to find out what was wrong. They say, Oh we dont show that these lights are coming on. We need proof! Hello look at your record. Ive been here a million times. They say the only light we see is your air bag, your passenger airbag needs to be replaced, come back we have to order the part. I come back (Its 2014 now). They replaced the airbag. The airbag light is still on. My car is still acting possessed. Took it back. They still claimed they couldnt find anything. Took it back again. Oh they finally find something. We have to replace your air bag module. I come back. They order the airbag module. The lights are still going off. I come back again. They told me they ordered the wrong one. Well call you when we get the right one. They get the right one and replace it. It is 2015 now. The lights are still going off. Apparently when they replaced it they didnt finish resetting everything. So now they reset everything and tell me to come back and get it. I come back to get it and they drove all of the gas out of my car. It was on E! and on top of that the lights were still going off. I was so fed up I left in anger, not knowing what to do. Two weeks later I call again - make an appointment. I find out that Sheldon is no longer with Phil Smith Kia and now Charlie the service manager will be taking care of my car and it will absolutely be fixed this time. I drop the car off on Saturday 8/1. Was told I couldnt get a shuttle home while they worked on my car, When they told me it would take all morning, (Ive gotten a shuttle home every Saturday I was there before) I had to call for a ride and received not one phone call back when I called multiple times all day! After the 5th call, Oh sorry we didnt call you. Lets just give you a rental car and you can keep your car here. Days go by no phone calls. I have to call. Once I call, Kia corporate is involved at this point. I get several apologetic phone calls saying that they will make sure everything is ok, that my car is finally fixed and they will test drive it with me. Wednesday 8/5 I leave work early to pick up my car - call the dealership to let them know Im on my way. I got to the service center at 5:40 pm due to traffic. The service center closes at 6pm. No one was there! I walk into the dealership to speak with the receptionist. She informs me that Charlie left for the day because it was SLOW!!! WTF. I left work early to come here, have been late to work have taken days of time off to come to this dealership and no one is here! I am floored. Cassandra the receptionist informs me that she has no authority to release my car. I leave, because Im obviously upset, in tears at this point. I call Kia corporate. They say that there is nothing they can do for me but report this incident and that I need to talk to a general manager. I called for the general manager and was informed that he wasnt there and that I would have to call back in the morning. Then I tried to see if anyone could release the keys to my car. No one has the authority to do this. OK THOUGH IM PISSED I WILL WAIT to get my car that will not be given to me. MY CAR! I call in the morning and speak to West ** and explain to him my entire situation over the years. All he says is that he will check on it and call me back within the hour. Surprise! No phone call. I call again and was told he wasnt even in the building anymore. I called again to speak to Charlie with no avail. At this point Im being ignored and disrespected. I finally get a call back hours later with a sorry apology from the service manager and have still not heard from West **, the general manager who said he would call me back. I had to come up with the solution. I had to beg them to drive the car to me so that I could return my rental car and not be stuck. My car has all new tires, new brakes, a new battery, a new airbag - all done recently. Long story short. I will never buy another Kia in my life and I would advise no one else to either. The way that Ive been treating is appalling. I would like to give a round of applause to Phil Smith Kia for their crappy service. Good luck to the person that buys this car because Im getting rid of it. Thank you for reading. And thank you Kia for doing absolutely nothing but giving me headaches, excuses and more gray hairs!
Less than impressed with this company and severely aggravated and disgusted. The Kia experience in general has really gone downhill in the past 10 years, but after my last purchase, it will be my last and I wish I could go back in time. From sales to service to Kias consumer affairs, everyone dropped the ball and rate a huge FAIL.Kia Consumer Affairs used to be a last line of sanity and a place to go where you could get help; now theyre just people who act like they are doing something, but ultimately just ignore you and never follow up or follow through. As others have said, watch the numbers closely in Finance because they will try to add things without asking. My last experience turned me so sour Ill probably get rid of this brand new 2021 car that is riddled with computer bugs and subpar paint before its even six months old. The car will start falling apart after the first year anyway. Terrible company with a terrible internal culture in how they deal with customers and they are turning out cheap vehicles.
I purchased a 2018 Kia Sorento from Hudson Kia in Jersey City, NJ, at the end of June 2018. As I write this review, it is December 3rd, 2018. They didnt pay off my trade-in vehicle for 45+ days. The payoff was then shorted, leaving me with a rolling balance due to my former finance company. Although Kia said they would rectify with the finance company, they did NOT and I just found out it went to collections, ruining my rebuilding credit. They were supposed to submit my registration as a transfer tag. Instead, after waiting almost 2 months, I received a brand new license plate. I had already paid the year registration on my old tag. Thus, Im out $350 for a tag I didnt need and taking a loss on the registration Id already paid for the former tag. I was told at sale that I could move my payment date to mid-month from end of month after making my 1st payment. When I tried with Kia Finance, I was told this isnt an option on leases. So the finance rep LIED to complete the sale. Now my payments are perpetually 3 weeks late monthly bc of my payroll cycle. I was supposed to receive free oil changes. Yet I cant seem to get anyone on the phone from their service department. I paid $90 for a synthetic oil change (trying to be responsible), only to be told that since I had it serviced elsewhere, it voids the offer... even though I have yet to be in contact with their service department. I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE MATS FOR MY VEHICLE. They cant even be bothered to rectify something as simple as this and its almost 6 months later! I could go on, but Ill stop here.Ive called the dealership more times than I can count and spoken to several people who assured me they would take care of it. Yet not a single item has been rectified. Not one. I also filed a complaint with Kia Customer Service and not one person ever followed up with me. To make matters worse, I practically hate this vehicle. Im currently searching ways to get out of this god awful lease Im in at this point. Ive purchased several vehicles over my lifetime. This experience has been the absolute worse! I wish I could rank ZERO stars.
Too many mechanical problems: lights turn on by themselves, tires losing air, tire was plugged and said I had it plugged when it was the same tire from when I got the car new off the lot. Swift gear broke and I was told it was a sticky substance inside of it. Now headlights stop working out of nowhere.
