We purchased a 2012 Hyundai Accent the end of 2011 from Fairfax Hyundai in Fairfax, Virginia. Along with the car, we purchased an extended warranty that supposedly provides bumper to bumper repair peace of mind until 100,000 miles. Early in October, I called the Fairfax Hyundai service department to obtain our free oil change. I was told they could not schedule me for almost a week. It was already time for our warranty oil change, so I took the car to Just Tires in Fairfax, Virginia for an oil change. The Just Tires service tech came to me and informed me the Accents right rear brake pad was completely worn out and the rotors needed to be turned. The left rear pad still had lots of wear yet. The next day, I took the car to Fairfax Hyundai to get the car repaired under the Hyundai warranty. The Fairfax Hyundai service manager informed me that the repair was not under warranty because the right rear caliper slide had become dirty and stuck, thus causing the service problem. This was very disturbing to me since we paid an extra $1,200 for an extended warranty that was to cover everything that went wrong with the car except the radio and tires. I took the car to Mr. Tire in Fairfax, and they refused to fix the problem because they were adamant the caliper was Hyundais responsibility. At that point, I walked into the Fairfax Hyundai dealership and insisted to speak with the owner. Instead, a manager was available and he put me in contact with Kim **, the District Parts and Service Director. On 10-10-2012, Mr. ** told me that if I could get a Virginia State Inspection Station to report the car could not pass inspection due to a faulty caliper, he would see about repairing the car at no cost.I scheduled the car for inspection and a repair estimate on 10-15-2012 at CC Garage in Vienna, Virginia. I could not get an earlier date because this is one of the highest rated repair facilities in Northern Virginia and a Virginia State Inspection Station. CC Garage called me the next day and informed me the slide was no longer stuck and the caliper was working fine. He indicated he could not supply the report Mr. ** sought. At that point, I was fed up with the situation and told them to replace the pads and turn the rotors at a cost of $271. The rotors can only be turned a couple of times so now I am required to continuously worry when the caliper slide will become stuck again and cause another expensive repair. Eventually, this faulty caliper problem will require replacement of drums, rotors, and calipers. We wish we had not bought a Hyundai car at this point.I still felt Hyundai was not meeting its responsibility of honoring its warranty program. So yesterday, I started online research of similar problems Hyundai has had with brake calipers. My research indicates that this stuck caliper slide problem has existed since at least 2001, on various models of Hyundai passenger vehicles. I found complaints on your 2001, 2003, 2005, 2008, and 2010 models. Now I have a 2012 with the same exact problem. Refusing to address this faulty engineering problem has caused many a USA citizen unnecessary repair bills that should have been covered under Hyundais warranty and then a fix of the problem instead of ignoring the problem for years. I request three things for Hyundai to do: 1) Reimburse me for the $271.00 repair; 2) Assure me in writing that any future repair costs due to caliper problems on this car will be covered under the cars warranty program; 3) Assure USA citizens that Hyundai USA will immediately address and fix this problem on their passenger vehicles. I will wait for a reply to my concerns until 11-25-2012.

This 2014 Hyundai Elantra is the worst car I ever own! I had nothing but problems with this car. It stalls out all the time. I have it to the dealership 4 times and they cant find anything wrong. No codes and the plastic piece broken off when I pulled it up to, now the front end where my fog lights are the driver side plastic part has came off, I had my fuel injections cleaned at 15,000 and still this car stalls. This has been a bad experience with Hyundai main office not covering anything on my car and I had my case open 4 times over the same issues. I cant wait to get rid this car, I will never buy a Hyundai again.

Upset that I to give even just 1 star... Horrific experience. Tires are always deflating... (rim issues even when new one were purchased.) Car stopped on a high way (engine recall) and then was without my car for 3 months. No same thing. They lie in the service department. They wont fix my 2 open recalls. My case manager hung up on me and told me that the dealership probably wont help me because they dont want to be bothered with me either. My car currently cost 4300.00 to fix an electrical issue causing the car to no start. I still owe about 6k and have no intentions on keeping the car because I have to fix something every other week. I cant make this up. I cant wait until I get out of this situation. It is not a safe car as my car has stop out of nowhere with no warning 2 times. Its a joke. Do not buy from this brand. Please, I beg you for yourself. Any advice please???

I called Bluelink using my vehicles call button. The back of my vehicle was open because my husband was looking at the flat from a nail I had ran over (which by the way the vehicle worked great to alert me of the issue) and the gentleman on the phone expressed verbally his frustration for having an issue hearing me. He then proceeded to ask me why I had called since someone was already working on it (my husband). Then he hung up on me. Had he stayed on the line I could have explained that we couldnt find the key for the lug nuts. This was a terribly disappointing experience for the first time using this service.

If I can save you the trouble from leasing from Hyundai, then please listen
If I can save you the trouble from leasing from Hyundai, then please listen carefully. I have always leased my cars. Ford, Volvo, Saab, etc. Ive NEVER had an issue with a leasing company, process has been flawless. Hyundai Financial has been an absolute nightmare. At lease end, Hyundai send out a 3rd party to look over your car. There is no wear and tear allowed for a 3-year lease. The 3rd party company spends 1 1/2 hrs going over your car with a magnifying glass (true!) and then hands you a bill for $3,000. If there is a pen mark on your seats, then you have to replace the entire fabric on all the seats. They then tell you that this is just a guide for you to get things fixed and this will never go to Hyundai. Thats a lie. We took the car to have the ridiculous list addressed, spent hundreds of dollars getting tiny scratches out, the pen mark on the fabric (there were no dents, tires were brand new, under mileage, etc.), and faxed over the complete report to Hyundai. The car was in such perfect condition that when we turned it in, the dealership leasing manager called the sales manager and said they needed to buy this car. A month later, we get the $3,000 bill from Hyundai. They DO NOT send someone out to look over the car after the work is done. They go completely off the original work their 3rd party sends them. We submitted our receipts 3 times and they told us they didnt like the wording on our invoices and suggested we wrote it ourselves! I said feel free to call the company that we paid hundreds of dollars to who worked on our car 3 days. The detail shop called us, said Hyundai was extremely rude, and that was the end of that. Three months later, on Christmas Eve morning, we get a call from a collection agency that says we owe $3,000. We now have to hire an attorney. STAY FAR AWAY FROM HYUNDAI!

I leased a Genesis. I made all the payments on time. I turned it into Lexus when I lease a Lexus. They claim there was excessive wear and tear because a lens had a crack. They state I owe them $608 for a crack they did not even measure with the ruler. I will never have a Hyundai or Genesis again. They do not bother responding to BBB. They just send a standard email.

In 2006, I bought a used 2004 Hyundai accent automatic from Thrifty Car rental. I had the car checked through by Hyundai and they confirmed it was in perfect shape. About 6 months ago, shifting became very hard and sometimes the transmission would refuse to shift gear even if I had shifted it with the clutch. Problems got worse. I took it to Hyundai for a diagnostic test and was told it needed a new transmission which would cost $3,000.00. As the car is so old, I opted for a used transmission and took it to a shop where my husband had his transmission replaced. By now, it is 3 transmissions later, 1 computer later and the car has been in the 2nd shop for 2 weeks with a highly recommended transmission expert and it is not working. I sent 2 emails to Hyundai last week and never received an answer. I called today, on 9/23/2011, and after some back and forth, I was told that there is no recall and that they could not help me with the car. In the meantime, I checked online and found a lot of people complaining about transmission issues with exactly that 2004 car. Pages and pages, so there obviously is an issue. My son, who is learning to be a car mechanic and therefore has access to information we normal people do not, also found information on major issues with that years transmission. Yet Hyundai insists, there is no campaign on it, so there is nothing wrong on their end. I have been driving Hyundai since 1996 and loved that car, that is why I bought another one in 2004 but that car is proving to be quite a problem. Hyundai is certainly shattering my opinion of them.

On vacation in middle of nowhere, the remote would not work, used key to get in, car alarm went off and did not stop until the fuse blew. I contacted Hyundai and was told even though I bought the remote start from the dealer and had them install it, Hyundai considers it an aftermarket part and I was responsible for the blown fuse and any other damage the remote starter would cause to the car. They have no idea what bumper-to-bumper warranty is.

I have recently purchase a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport with 58k miles from a private party due to wanting to avoid financing and dealer fees. Main reason why I went with Hyundai was for their greatly advertise 10 years 100,000 miles warranty. Little that I know when I call Hyundai dealership about the status of my vehicle warranty I was told the warranty is non transferable to a second owner. That really let me down. So be careful buying a Hyundai from a third private party. Warranty does not transfer.

My first experience was when I received the recall notice for my 2006 Sonata about the airbags sensor for front passenger seat. I had Sports Durst in Durham check it when I took it in for service (been a while back) and was told nothing was wrong. Later, when someone over 90 lbs was sitting in seat, the airbag light would indicate that it was turned off. I took it to Crenshaw Hyundai in Burlington where they checked it. They confirmed it was faulty and mailed my seat to California for service. Now, my airbag light is back on again and was told by Crenshaw Hyundai that since it had been repaired, the recall work is no longer under warranty. It seems after reading all these complaints that it would not do any good to have it repaired because the majority says the light comes back on or the airbags failed to deploy in accidents or just deployed for no reason. I use to like Hyundais but after this I will never own another one nor recommend them.

My warranty was voided by Hyundai because of their authorized dealership installing an alarm system without my knowledge. I was informed of this after I took my car in because of cranking issues, gas smell and car jumping into different geals by itself. After the dealership pulled and worked on everything on my car, they sent a field engineer who told Hyundai to void my warranty. Now I have a car that I cant drive because of safety issues and not one representative from Hyundai cared that my car was is unsafe to drive while Im still paying monthly payments on the car. Its amazing how Hyundai voids a warranty after their authorized dearlership install parts when you didnt ask them too. I eventually was sent an official letter from Consumer Affairs stating that they paid me for this service. Well Hyundai, if you paid me for this service, Im still waiting for the Check!!! Dont TRUST Hyundai. As there commerical says, They shoot straight with their customer. Yes they do, with lies to avoid their obligations.

Colonial Hyundai and Hyundai in general is one of the worst car companies I’ve ever dealt with. My Hyundai Tucson has been in the service department since March of 2021 to get the engine replaced on it and it STILL hasn’t been fixed! They gave me a downgrade of a rental car to drive and I was made to believe by the service worker (Kimberly) who is over my car that I would have my Tucson fixed in a couple weeks. Since then all I have gotten is nothing but LIES from her and the service department! They recently told me that it could take between the middle of July towards the beginning of August until my car is completed, which is utterly ridiculous! I’ve had 3 case managers since then trying to work on my behalf and they’ve checked for updates and somehow can’t really do anything to get my Tucson fixed any sooner. What’s even more disappointing is that Hyundai will not take full responsibility for their wrongdoing! I called to speak to the General Manager (Talal) of sales to discuss other options. I was suppose to meet with him last Saturday but had another obligation to come up and could not make it. I called to let him know and did not receive a call back. So I called again today so I could see when I could meet with him next but he wasn’t there. I left my contact information for him to call me back but I’ve noticed over time they will not call you back so you have to keep calling. As a customer, I’ve been treated like crap and as if my concerns don’t matter! They really could care less! Hyundai is an absolutely awful company!!!

Three years ago, I purchased a new Hyundai Genesis. Unfortunately, the car veered to the right which make driving difficult and dangerous. When I first brought the car in, the dealer denied a problem. When I returned shortly thereafter, they reluctantly agreed that the car lurched to the right. After a series of trips back and forth to the dealer, the tires were replaced, the alignment was redone, the electronics were revised and the problem persisted. After my 6th or 7th visit, I gave them the car and told them that I would not take it back till the problem was solved. They kept the car for months and were never able to sort it out. Meanwhile, I communicated with corporate Hyundai and they were rude. I finally invoked the lemon law and my money was returned (not the interest that I had been paying Hyundai as they held the loan on the car). Needless to say, whenever I see a Hyundai on the road, I think to myself what a poor sucker is driving that car. I will never buy a Hyundai again.

I bought a new 2016 Hyundai Veloster in June 2017. This bad smell would come and go. At that point youd smell the damp smell on your clothes and hair the test of the day. Well that week in June there had been lots of rain, car smell came back. Took the car to the dealership on July 24 for oil change. 25th took the car in for them to investigate the smell. Had a water leak at the roof of the car, where the seal didnt bond the glass roof to the frame. Water had gotten into the car and floor was soaked. Him ** ordered a new roof, carpet, Sun visors, and headliner. Called me to come pick up the car. The car still had the smell. I know firsthand I smelt like the car many off times. Had to go in public smelling like sour mildew from this car. I wasnt happy. Manufacturer refused to stand by its product by honoring what was wrong. Ruet treated me like it was my fault something was wrong with the car. The car needed everything material and electric replaced. She even contacted the dealership to see if the car was drivable with the mold and mildew. My health wasnt an issue to them. The Veloster roofs can leak and cause mold and mildew and that horrible smell. Clothes ruined by that smell. Cant get them rid of the smell as they sat in the car as my back up clothes from walking. I still have the paperwork from the car that smells and it was in the glove box.

After having a 2016 Hyundai Veloster and having issues with oil consumption we are being told that due to sludge in the motor and supposedly we are needing a new motor that warranty will not cover a replacement and we are expected to be out of pocket $9400. This is absolutely ridiculous and was told by Consumer Affairs that there was no number for corporate who made the final decision to decline our case. Very unprofessional and no way to do business! This is the true definition of loophole! The car is still under the 100,000 or 10 year warranty!! I will be pursuing other resources and what I have to do about this! The ball was dropped and Hyundai doesnt care. They found a way out of doing the warranty work!

Hyundai Accent GLS is reliable and gets good gas mileage. Accelerates quickly and smoothly. Came with a 100k mile warranty. Smooth driving experience and right turning radius. Easy to maneuver. I like that it has bluetooth, CD player, ac, spacious for a car its size, power locks and windows and comfortable seating. But the bumper is very low and catches on parking spot barriers easily. Purchased new 2013 Hyundai Elantra Limited, do not recommend buying this new or used. Driving highway 100 miles daily, at 60,000 miles had to replace all struts and shocks. Have since replaced all 4 wheels. On 4th set of tires, at 90,000 miles had to replace rear struts and shocks again. I bought a 2013 Hyundai Elantra For $8999 with 83,000 miles on it in January 2018. Today is March 20, 2018 and the car needs a new engine. They will not replace the engine. I took it to Morrie’s Hyundai to fix and they refused to fix it saying Hyundai corporate refuses to fix the engine because I am 2nd owner of the car that the 100,000 mile warranty does not apply. Who has allowed them to make and sell cars, take peoples money and not honor the warranty. It’s a crime that needs the law to look at this. I love the Remote Start feature that Hyundai Blue Link provides. I think its very overpriced. I also dont like that to get the Remote Start that I have to get the other packages which I dont use. It would be nice to just have the Remote Start feature. I also dont like that the max time for the vehicle to be started is only 10 minutes. It would be great for the customer to extend the timer beyond 10 minutes especially living in a cold climate state like I do. When the timer expires for the Remote Start, why dont you receive notification like you do when the vehicle is started. Also, I dont like it that it flashes the parking lights, they should give the option for the customer to turn off that feature or go to a solid parking light if so the customer chooses.I purchased a 2015 Hyundai Elantra and received the Remote Start package for a trial period. It was set up by the dealership. I didnt know why they needed my credit card information, I found out why. They auto billed my card after the trial period was over without notifying me. I asked why I wasnt notified and they didnt have an answer. I told them that I only wanted the Remote Start option and they said that I had to get the full package to get the Remote Start. Almost $300. I liked the Remote Start that much that I didnt cancel the service of which the Remote Start is the only thing I use.The next year, I purchased a 2016 Tuscon, same thing with the Elantra happened with the Tuscon. I called Blue Link and asked them to sync my two accounts, the agent told me she had done so. When I tried to start my 2015, the app prompted me to call Blue Link. They told me that the subscription on my Elantra was cancelled. I told them that I had another two months left before renewal, she verified that I was correct. I then asked her why was my service cancelled and she said she didnt know. She got a supervisor involved and he said the same thing.Granted, the 2015 is a Generation 1 vehicle and the 2016 is a Generation 2 vehicle which is two different departments. Why arent they combined, I dont know. I told them to turn on my service for the remaining two months that I have left on my subscription, they said they couldnt do that. They said I had to renew my yearly subscription. I asked them why because my service was not scheduled for renewal for two months and that it wasnt my fault that they screwed up. They said that their computers would not allow them to go in and turn on the service without the renewal of my yearly subscription. Being unsatisfied, I told them to renew my subscription which got prorated to the date that I purchased the vehicle. They told me that for my troubles that they would give me a discount on one of the packages one of my vehicles. They assured me that this mishap would not happen again.Which brings me to this years renewal, the so-called discount wasnt a discount, they extended one of the packages on one of my vehicles which knocked my packages out of sync, again. The sent me an E-mail stating that I would have to pay almost $20 a month for the next two months to aligned the packages. On the day that they were supposed to pull the money from my account, my Remote Start package was cancelled and when I called Blue Link, they said I had insufficient funds. Which I found ridiculous because I verified that I had several thousand dollars on that account. I even signed onto the Blue Link website to verify that the billing information was correct and it was. Besides, they had just taken out $297 from my account for my other vehicles renewal of which I wasnt notified. I asked them why I wasnt notified and again, they said that they didnt know and they were going to pass me onto their website department. They are currently investigating why I wasnt notified, I am not going to hold my breath for a response, lol. The agent asked what would it take for me to be a satisfied customer, I said, Free service, I knew that wouldnt fly. I asked her to turn on the service for the remainder of the two months I have left to sync my accounts, of course, just like the year prior, they said it couldnt be done and that I had to renew my yearly subscription. I didnt. I am so frustrated with Blue Link right now but I love their Remote Start feature. A few years ago, I tried to have Car Toys to put an aftermarket remote start system on my vehicle and they said that because the vehicle has a factory installed remote system on the vehicle that they couldnt do it. This was three years ago. I am going to revisit this option and see if it can be done. With the Remote Start feature I had on my other vehicle, it had way more features than Blue Link has and for cheaper. You figure with as much as they charge for the service that they would be one of the leaders in the game.I gave this review only 2 stars because I love the Remote Start otherwise it would be one star. I dont think Blue Link even cares about their customers, they know we have to use this service if we want it, especially being in a cold climate state. If they were smart, they would find a way to be able to modify the field to change the renewal date to maintain the subscribers they have right now. I will be looking for another car company where I can have more flexibility with this option. So it will be goodbye to Hyundai even though I like their vehicles. My Tucson was the 4th Hyundai I had purchased, yes, this is a deal breaker. If I can find a go around, I will. Thanks, Blue Link. Step up your game.

So, I went to one of your authorized center in Chandigarh (Carizma Hyundai) on 4th Sept. as per them loss was around Rs70,000. As there was breakage of head and they committed me itll be rectified with in 15days. They had provided me with Job Card no: **, Car No: **. It took two months to arrange head. After 2 months, they called me and confirmed we have to put crunch shaft which will cost 30000. So total amount comes to be 100000.

I would give Hyundai an F - unbelievably bad response time, client interaction, and roadside assistance partners. Wow, I let myself get talked into this 2015 Genesis V-8 and will never buy another Hyundai product again, period. One problem after the next. Now my high-tech battery shot craps. Ive owned the car for 8 months and bought it brand new. RUN away from this brand. They are trying to play in a league they are not equipped to play in.

Hyundai Finance and Leasing have given me the impression that they think its a great place to work, if it wasnt for the customer. Hours of being on hold. Not getting through. Then Getting through, just to get forwarded to another department, which usually gets you disconnected. Total incompetence! Total lack of any basic communication skills or work function. Cant even catch up a late payment due to no statement being sent, after 36 consecutive ones. No person to talk with to resolve anything. Steer clear of this car company.

I turn the air conditioning on for the first time in May 2019. The car had 1500 miles on it. And the air-conditioner did not work. I took it in for service and at first they told me something went through the front grill and put a hole in the air conditioning condenser. Since there was no evidence of anything flying through the front grill and there was no damage to my radiator the story changed and apparently it ricocheted and caused damage to the condenser.Hyundai deemed it a non-warranty issue. Now I’m going to be charged $800 to fix it. I even took it to a different repair shop to ask their opinion. Those guys said they had no idea how this damage could have been caused without any evidence of any damage to anything else. Hyundai claims to have the best warranty in the industry. In my experience it’s all BS! I think somebody dropped the condenser and installed it anyway so that they could meet their quota. I will never buy another Hyundai again!

This is reference to Hyundai Head Office Consumer Complaints. On a recent service visit to my local Hyundai Dealer I was told that my car had quite an alignment problem that would cost $130.00 to fix. The tech could find no sign of me rubbing a curb or any other reason why my car would be out of alignment with only 23000km. When I called head office to complain and to get an explanation on why my car would be out of alignment after only 23000km they could give me no reason and had no interest in solving this issue. They did not offer to call the dealership and ask the techs any questions and did nothing more than log the complaint. The person I talked to had no knowledge of any kind and is there only to log the complaint in their computer system. Hyundai Consumer complaint is a joke and a worthless phone number to have. I have dealt with other car companies in the past with always excellent results and for this reason this will be the first and last Hyundai car I will purchase.

I bought a 2020 Tuscan Ultimate on Saturday 5/23/2020 from Crain Hyundai Fayetteville and the salesman could not find the navigation SD card and said come back Tuesday and we will have have it for you. I came back on Tuesday and they had one but it didnt fit. He said, I will have to order you one and when you bring your car in for the window tint I will have one. Well took it in last Friday and no SD card. Asked about it and was told they would try and find one if they can. At that point am up set and contact Hyundai directly for one. They give me the navigation company number to call and I did. They were willing to sell me another one. I said no thank you. I want the one I already bought. I called Hyundai consumer affairs back and talked to a case manager named Vanilla and she stated she called the sales manager and he would take care of it and that was all Hyundai was willing to do. 3 week after I bought my Car still no navigation or Blue link due to navigation not working. I filed a Better business bureau claim and got a call from the customer relations manager from the dealership. Found out the SD cad was never ordered and that he personally would make sure it was done. Bottom line Hyundai didnt care and to me it will be the last one I buy. Hope I will get the cars features working one day as they should.

I bought an Elantra car for Hyundai Des Moines dealer, actually I bought a lemon. I bought this car because its fuel efficiency as they advertise it is 28-38 mile, but in the first day I found that its mpg is 24 and it stated drop by time and after one week it become 17.5. That is unbelievable. It is like a big SUV. I contact the company and they requested to put it in service. This is not acceptable. A new car go to service in the first two weeks. The government must protect the customer from the liar car companies and we must be able to return the car if it is not as they said. Another serious issue was its tire - it has no traction on snow. I get stuck on snow 4 times. I need to change the tires and this is unacceptable too. Could anyone guide me how to return this car?

HMA has tried to get a deposition fee of $450 from me the last 8 months without my knowledge. They have been quietly killing my credit with delinquency filings through my credit agency. No letters were sent. Yes, I know about the deposition fee, but it is waived if a customer buys a new lease. I bought two new leases! My local dealer explained it all to me. NO fee if you re lease a new car. I got two... Didnt matter to HMA. I fought with customer service and their response was that the new cars I received were purchased 4 months before the lease expired. Apparently in the small print, you only have a 60 day window before the lease ends to get that deposition fee waived. Ridiculous! This is not the way to treat a long time customer. I called my local dealer and they have been way more willing to help me with this, as it was their sales staff that that relayed all this information. Hopefully, with the help of my local dealer HMA will fix this issue and will also fix the damage done to my credit. Their customer service reps were very unhelpful and rude. After I had purchased these new leases, a problem arose where my VIN # had been mixed up with someone else at purchase. One day I walked into my garage where my Sonata was automatically started by their Bluelink system, garage door closed, garage full of fumes, almost killing my dog who was in there. HMA could not have cared any less of what had happened as I explained the situation. They blamed the local dealer, offered me a few Hyundai points (incredibly insulting), and went on their way. They actually stopped talking to me as I expressed that their points offering was insulting. I wanted to make sure this doesnt happen again to someone else, yet they would not return my calls. These experiences with HMA would actually be funny if it wasnt so sad and scary. Please stay far away from this company! Terrible and unethical business practices.

Our second & last Hyundai. Car hesitates & bucks very bad from a full stop. Fuel gage not accurate at all. According to brochure car has a 16.4 gallon fuel tank, but when you go to fill it only takes about 9-10 gallons after low fuel indicator reads 30 miles or so to empty. Took car to Obrien Hyundai of Fort Myers shortly after purchase & given a runaround about problem. Told by service writer that there was no code displayed.Talked to 2 independent mechanics who both said it sounds like the fuel pick up or sending unit is either bad or loose in fuel tank. Filled out complaint form with Hyundai USA, called back a week later & was told someone would contact me. No one ever contacted me. After another 2 weeks called Hyundai & was told issue was not escalated because problem did not sound serious enough. Finally contacted Hyundai USA customer service who agreed to escalate case.

Update from last post. Nothing new on positive side other than more wasted time and lets say more salt water in the open wound. They call me back like they were concerned to follow up on the outcome. Follow up, I scratch my head as they said they wont cover what they have known was an ongoing issue even a class action law suit over the very same paint issue. Sorry you are outside the warranty period. I asked, Why are you wasting my time to only say what you said the last time. They make a car. They have a known issue with the paint adhering to the car. They dont tell you or post about it so you can stay away from buying a car with an issue. So you buy a car only to have to spend over $1200 to have the car roof stripped down and repainted. That people is a company that truly understands customer service. They dont stand behind their product when they know they have had an issue, we as the consumer have to pay for it in the end. ONCE AGAIN AND LET ME BE CLEAR I WILL NEVER EVER PURCHASE A NEW OR USED CAR THAT IS MADE BY HYUNDAI. If I sound upset you are correct.

Hello, DONT BOTHER WITH THESE CROOKS, looking into my options for a court case as we speak. FIRST I bought my car in 2016. Everything was great in that aspect, my salesman Ron was very nice, friendly, down to earth and not fake. I left happy, I loved my car at the time. I went to the bank for a different reason, paperwork in hand because I was going into work right after that. One of the loan officers said, Hey you bought a new car. Congrats. You mind if I take a look at that paperwork, I said, Sure no problem.. Well well. Long story short she seen that they snuck in a $2000 warranty that I DID NOT agree too. We all know Hyundai has the best warranty around. 100,000 miles or 10 years which ever comes first. She also seen my rate was way too high. She fixed that as well. She also saved me almost $200 a month on my payment a year off the loan.Fast forward to today. I just got my title in. Ive paid off my car this year. Title says 3,229 miles on instead of 9 miles like it was when I bought it. Also says USED when it was brand new off the showroom floor. I have a picture of the odometer the day I bought it and left with it where it says 9 MILES!! not 3, 229 miles. I now do some research and see this is something they do all the time, sell people LOANERS and or RENTALS and say that they are brand new. Plop them on the showroom floor and screw over people right and left. Not me. Im not letting this go. NO way NO how! I work hard for my money and I will not be fooled by some car salesman prick in a Walmart suit. Thank god I took pictures of that odometer. Thank god!I called today and spoke to a DJ who actually said I looked up your paperwork and **. REALLY BRO? Ok. Tells me I knew I bought a loaner. I said, A what? You know a rental car? The hell I did. Joe and Ron never disclosed to me my car was a rental just like they didnt tell me about the extra warranty they threw in I didnt ask for.. Empire if your reading this... Ill be in touch...dont worry.

This last time, Im told it is the driver side seat belt. When it came on I was under 60,000. My mechanic thought it came on because he had disconnected the battery and he reset it. Four days later, it came on again, right after I went over 60,000 miles and was no longer under warranty. The dealer did not have the part in stock and could not get me in to service it right away. They keep telling me it’s one thing charging me an arm and a leg And the car continues to lose power. First they told me the engine needed to be cleaned charge me $350. Test drove it still losing power. Then they tell me it’s coil pack number 3 charge me $280 to remove one bolt. Needless to say that still didnt fix the issue. Then they tell me it’s coil pack number 4. Another $280. Guess what the issue still isn’t fixed. They refused to fix my car And want to charge me $910 before they release my car to me. None of the things they told me was wrong with the car fixed the issue. I’ve missed over 30 days of work because we are down to one car. Nearly $4000 between missed work and repairs that never needed to be done. Hyundai is putting me and my family at danger along with other families with their vehicle. I bought an Elantra GT with 24,500 miles on it on April 1st. Right away we realized the car had several issues, one of which being the fuel economy. We averaged 17-18 mpg in town and never more than 26-27 on the hwy. Then we noticed a hissing noise when shifting, and a ping/chatter to the engine while accelerating. Then we noticed a metallic ringing when the A/C is on. The CD player was also non-functional. There were some other smaller issues as well, but Hyundai has been working to resolve them. The CD player was fixed, as with some other small things. The engine and transmission noises, poor fuel economy, and metallic ringing, were not able to be diagnosed after several attempts. Now Hyundai is working with me to do a manufacturer Buyback/lemon claim. They are extremely polite, prompt with responses, understanding of my situation and more than willing to help me. Within hours of contacting them via email, I had an open case with its own case number and everything. Currently they are confirming that nothing can be done to fix the car, then we will move forward with the buyback. They have stayed in constant contact, and always in a timely manner. Very pleased with Hyundai overall. If you have a legitimate case, Hyundai will provide legitimate help.

I have owned a 2001 Hyundai Elantra for 3 years and have owned 3 Hyundais over the last 20 years. I have always been a loyal Hyundai owner, but I am now reconsidering that thought. Over the weekend, my car broke down when the control arm broke and left me right where I sat. After some research, I have discovered the part that broke was, at one time, under a recall. I called the Hyundai Customer Assistance Center yesterday, November 26, to inquire about the recall and was told that recall has expired. When I asked about the expiration date of the recall, I was told I would have to call my local dealership to find out when it expired. I couldnt understand why I would have to call the dealership when I was speaking to a case manager as he continually referred to himself as. I refused to call the dealership as someone from Hyundai had to tell the dealership when it expired. When I asked for a supervisor, I was told he was the case manager and his supervisor would tell me the same thing. I again asked for the supervisor and was told he is very busy. I was then put back on hold and had my husband go ahead and call the dealership about the recall and was told the recall was expired but he couldnt tell us when either. When the case manager came back to the phone, his story changed to my car didnt fall under the recall for the control arm issue. So, I still dont know if my car was part of the recall but the recall expired or my car wasnt part of the recall even though its the same problem that caused the recall to begin with. I didnt get anywhere with the case manager at the assistance center nor did I get to speak to a supervisor. I even left my name and number and was told he would return my call but I didnt hear back from him. At this point, my car is still where it broke down and so far, Hyundai has been zero help. I really dont want to put a lot of money into a car that I no longer have faith in the company that made it.

We purchased a new Hyundai in December of 2013 from Hall Hyundai of Elizabe
We purchased a new Hyundai in December of 2013 from Hall Hyundai of Elizabeth City. We had oil changes done in excess of requirements and used the best oil always. As time went along we noticed our car kept getting louder and louder as we drove. I took it to Hall Hyundai of Elizabeth City to have it looked at. The service dept. girl (Aamanda **) had me come out and look at something dealing with the tires. She showed me that the tires were wearing out in a choppy manner on the inside of the rear tires and that was what was making the loud sound as we drove; and that we simply needed to get a complete realignment and new tires. But then, thankfully, she showed me that the front tires were doing the same thing. The reason I say thankfully is that as soon as she showed me that, I immediately knew that this was not an issue that I should have to care for. It was a defect in the Hyundai Elantra suspension design and that they were trying to pass the blame and cost and problem ownership on to the consumer, and absolving themselves of any responsibility of causation through their own product design. After we went back inside the service dept., she tried to blame it on that I might not have had the tires rotated up to requirements. But she wasnt thinking properly again. These tires only rotate front to back and back to front, not side to side; therefore negating the thought of non-rotation problem causation. For it was happening in the front and back tires, which it would still have happened even if we rotated the tires everyday. Then, I said to her that this was a deeper problem and that tires were junk and that it wasnt the need for me to have a realignment. After that she went in the back and I never saw her again. So I left my name and number (of which she already had) with an elderly lady at the back service stand and asked her to have Aamanda call me when she figures out whatever she is figuring out, and she never called me. Subsequently, when I got home, I researched on the internet this issue and I found very many reports of the same problem dating back many years. Some of them mentioned in their report that they did have their proofs of tire rotations as needed and that Hyundai still blamed it on the car owner. My question, if it was an issue of the car owner not doing things properly as Hyundai dealers and Hyundai itself contends, how is it possible that it is exactly the same issue happening to thousands of Hyundai owners over a span of years? Simply put; its NOT anything that the consumer is doing wrong, and IT IS an issue that HYUNDAI has ownership of (it IS an issue concerning a defect in the suspension of the automobile ~ FACTLY), and they need to be made and forced to rectify the problem with all owners that are dealing and have dealt with the issue.

My vehicle has less than 5000 miles. We were leaving lunch at a restaurant about 25 miles from our home and the car developed a sound in the right front fender, well like something rubbing.and I pulled over to check. The plastic fabric that lines the underside of the right front wheel well had come loose and was dragging on the road. I called Hyundai on road service and they were going to send a car carrier and haul my car to Newnan Georgia 18 miles farther in the other direction to a Hyundai dealer. I was in a school entrance so I then pulled up and I assume the tire ran over the plastic fabric and pulled it loose. I got out and picked up the piece about 12 inches by 8 inches. I noticed the rest of the lining under the wheel well was loose and was being held by a groove in the edge of the fender. The right front fender was separated from the bumper and I was able to push the lining back inside the groove and with the palm of my I tapped on the side where the fender and bumper connected and the two pieces stayed together. I checked and a Hyundai dealer was within 12 miles of my home, I called Hyundai road recovery back and told them I could drive the vehicle to the Hyundai dealer in McDonough, Georgia. We drove to the dealer in McDonough and was told by maintenance that the vehicle was involved in a wreck. I questioned this and was then told that the one (1) mechanic to handle Hyundai vehicles said to take it to their body shop. The maintenance supervisor then indicated that the right front bumper had been hit and it looked like a vehicle in a parking lot had hit the right front fender. When I questioning this he said even a shopping cart in a shopping lot could have hit the bumper and separated the fender from the bumper. We took the vehicle to the body shop and the supervisor said the vehicle was not involved in a wreck. He looked under the right front fender and said he thought the fender separated from the right front side of the bumper after the clips that hold the fender to the bumper had snapped. The fender and the bumper showed no outward scratches or dents. He said Hyundai would not consider the separation of the fender from the bumper to be under warranty. He stated the fender clips could not be repaired and the fender could not be reattached to the bumper instead the bumper would have to be replaced as well as the underside of the wheel well. The estimate would be in excess of $1,400.00. I purchased the vehicle for its looks, warranty and its history of reliability. What else can I expect to fall apart on this vehicle? The vehicle looks like it is very cheaply made and Hyundai has cut corners in the materials used in the assembly of the vehicle. I dont feel safe in the vehicle. I made a mistake moving from Toyota to Hyundai.

Your roadside assistance is horrific.. I had a flat tire. Could not inflate with your inflate a tire. The tire was tore up because you didnt have spare. Had to call roadside. They never showed up. This was Sunday 2/22/15. I was told they could not tow me to dealership until the following day. If I would have left my car on road it would have been towed per state trooper.. Thank goodness for the kindness of the trooper in Glen Allen, VA. He took my son to merchant tire, dropped him off. His girlfriend had to stay with car and the trooper checked on her. I could not get to the car soon enough and the trooper came back and picked my son up and took him back to care. Thank you so much trooper for your care and concern for my young son and his girlfriend stuck on the side of the road. I have also been on hold for 45 minutes waiting to get thru to Hyundai roadside, no answer yet. So much for your care and concern and this will be reported to 12 news on your side... The customer service rep was very hateful when we got thru the first time, said could not tow to dealership after hours. Bla, bla, bla. Thanks Hyundai for your help. I will be trading my car for another make and model. Goodbye.

My fiancé and I purchased a 2013 Genesis 2.0. Motor keeps failing and they refuse to help even though the motor is under warranty. I went to the shop for check up on a problem for car not running. They made diagnostic and said it was something with the sensor of the gasoline injection. So I told them to go ahead and repair and they did charging almost $300.00. I went to pick it up and after I got out of the dealer, I started feeling the car with same problem. So I went back to them, this time they said, “Ok, it is weekend and we will check and will call you back.” When they called me back, they said now that it was the transmission and that I need a new one. I was never advised for any problem with transmission even when I use to take the car for service with them and I used to go for any problems with the car to this dealer. I asked them for reimbursement for the false diagnostic and they said they will not return any money. My car has been in the garage since then because I do not have money to repair the transmission. I feel like I was robbed because I paid for anything.

We purchased a 2014 Hyundai I40 from the main dealership in Stratford-upon-Avon. We were contacted to notify is the vehicle of been through the workshop and was ready for collection. Within an hour I realised the clutch was faulty as it had to be pushed to the floor before you could select a gear. I returned it to the garage within an hour. The head of sales said yes, there is a fault on the clutches. We can do a temporary fix until Hyundai release the relevant parts to rectify the fault. What beats me why sell a car, knowing it has a defective clutch. I know I can return the car and get my money back but I have been assured by Hyundai UK. The clutch will be rectified by the middle of June. According to the dealership, there are hundreds of I40s out there with defective clutches. So if you have a problem take it back and demanded it is fixed.

I purchased a new (only 100 kms) 2009 Sante Fe last year that had been sitting on a dealers lot for two years. It is a standard front wheel drive and thats why they say it wouldnt sell because no one wanted a standard, but I did. Since my purchase (I now have 30,000 km), there has been a bad vibration between 80km-120 km. You can see the passenger seat and the back one shacking. I phoned the dealership I purchased it from who is 3.5 hours away from me and they told me that it was the tires and it was up to me to replace. (This was after several balances out of my own pocket.) So luckily, I found a good tire dealership whose tire rep said he would replace the tires at no charge. This did not fix the problem. So to save time and money, I went to a Red Deer Hyundai dealership (only 45 minutes away) and for the last four months, they have been trying to resolve it. I now have new motor mounts, new wheel bearings, two new axles and when that didnt work, they tried the transmission! When they opened it, it was all rusted and there were two rocks inside? They were baffled but figured a new transmission would fix it. It did not! So here I am today with my unsatisfactory car and an empty wallet! What do I do next? The dealership is at a loss and Hyundai Canada just keeps calling the dealership relaying the information I already know! I have had to take numerous days off work and so much fuel to travel back and forth to the dealership. Someone please help me! I would sell the vehicle but who would buy a vehicle that vibrates. Im so stuck and it makes me sick that I spent this kind of money and have horrible results.

Since owning my 2013 Hyundai Sonata, I have had a number of recalls (or as the company likes to call them, ‘campaigns’). The most recent includes FOUR recalls. I took time off of work to get the recalls addressed, and yet, I still keep receiving notices that I need to take the car back in for the same recalls that I got taken care of. When you call customer service all you get is the run around or told that you are being “hostile” when they question you about where the emails are coming from and you tell them you have full command of the English language or “talking over them”. I still can’t use my phone’s bluetooth as the company never updated their system with the newer phones. My navigation system doesn’t know half of the addresses I put in, and the car only has 44,000 miles in 6 years. In addition, I constantly have to put air in my right front tire, regardless of the weather. Now I have to go back because the dealer disengaged the heated seats so I can’t even trade it in until they fix their mistake, and that was after the dealer tried telling me that the recalls had nothing to do with the heated seats (which they then had to reverse course on as the tech had to disconnect the heated seat wires to put the airbag harness on). Hyundai claims in their ads that they make ‘better’ cars. Better for who? Because it DEFINITELY isn’t better or safer for the consumer. I feel that is a misrepresentation of the truth. Save yourself and your wallet! Don’t even look bother. There are other more reputable companies from which to choose from. Honestly, I think the federal government needs to look into the safety of Hyundai’s vehicles.

I had problems with my vanity mirror on the passenger side, and the service manager of Doral Hyundai denied service, telling me it was the consequence of the normal use of the car. In reality, Hyundai advertises 60,000 miles and 5-year bumper to bumper. My 2008 Sonata was purchased in October 2007, and the odometer shows less than 23000 miles. I called the service attendants in headquarters, and they agreed with the service manager. This is a violation of the warranty, and Hyundai is lying in advertising the ten-year warranty, especially the 5-year bumper to bumper. If this response stands, every claim for service after one year can be considered product or the proper use of the car. If a compromise is not reached, I will never again consider Hyundai an option to buy a car.

I was told by the body shop that it’s not the issue with my paint but the metal underneath being defective. They gave me an estimate of approx $3000 to get this work fixed. Now no one from Hyundai or the dealership wants to help me out. I keep getting the same answer. Very disappointed since this isn’t my first Hyundai. It’s my 5th. The controller on my rear seat air conditioner failed. The dealer (Gentile Hyundai) ordered the part on July 12, 2011. Today is September 6, 2011, and we still do not have the part, not withstanding that in our part of the country we have record heat. The service department person (Candice) has done a great job in keeping me informed when I called, but Hyundai corporate office apparently does not have to deal face-to-face with the customer. Obviously, they have a different set of customer relation values.I am now retired, but for the last 24 years of my work career, I served as CEO of various manufacturing companies. A few of these were involved with the automotive market. At no time would I or any of my executives (or any associate for that matter) be allowed to even suggest, to a customer that we could not deliver a part or parts to them in a reasonable period of time. The idea that no reasons are given for this delay, or any suggestion when it may arrive is absolutely outrageous. This is my first Hyundai, 2008 Vera Cruz AWD Limited. It could very well be my last, and I am not shy about sharing experiences, both good and bad. This is not meant to be any form of threat, only a complaint from a very unsatisfied customer who expects better. The fact that I even waited this long to register this complaint should make it clear to you that Im not a whiner. Wheres my part?

I leased my 2015 Sonata Sport in Feb of 2016. It had been a service loaner and had almost 5000 miles on it at delivery. After about six months in Aug of 2016 my car would not start and I had to call Hyundai Roadside to jump it. I brought it into the dealer the following week. They tested the battery, said nothing was wrong, and suggested I did something to cause the battery drain. Well, I continued to have the problem and brought the car back to the dealer in Nov of 2016. This time they said the battery was bad and replaced it. Even after replacing the battery, I continued to have the problem and brought the car back to the dealer in Jan of 2017. This time they blamed the problem on the Allstate insurance device I have plugged into the car and they said the battery was bad too. So they replaced the battery for the second time and I had the Allstate device replaced.I continued to have the same problems. I brought the car back to the dealer the following month and they said they could not replicate the issue and found nothing. It seems that my vehicle battery dies when I dont use the vehicle for a period of time – often 1.5 - 2 days, but it has died from sitting unused in as little as 22 hours. Since I continue to have this issue without any real help from the dealer, I contacted Hyundai consumer affairs in April of 2017 and they have been slow to take any action. I did not receive any actionable info from them until 2 weeks after I first called... They called the dealer I had been working with and the dealer told them they thought the issue was the insurance device (even though they found no problems the last time I had the vehicle there, with the device plugged in).So my Hyundai case manager told me they could not do anything until the insurance device was ruled out as a cause. I removed the device and purposefully did not drive the vehicle for a full day and surprise, the car was dead. So I called my case manager at Hyundai and told her what happened and that the device could be ruled out. Now she is checking to see if or when (her words) a Hyundai specialist can look at the car. Hopefully, it wont take another two weeks to find that out. It seems Im not the only person with this issue as a couple other reviews very recently indicate the same problem on the same year/make/model and with even the same time frame the problem began! I guess its time for me to find a lawyer too.

I purchased a 2010 Hyundai Sonata in August 2009 with 500 miles on it at the time of purchase. To date, I have had the vehicle in the service department 3 times regarding the transmission, dropping, failing and stalling, for a total of about 4 weeks in the shop. Just before the 60k mile warranty expired, the rear passenger side door handle fell apart. I had that replaced, covered under warranty. Since that time, about 5,000 miles has passed and today, the just replaced door handle fell off again in my hand trying to put my children in the car. I have tried and tried to be patient and put up with this car and all the times it has been in and out of the shop, but I am truly to my breaking point. I have to put my children in this car and travel to school, work, daycare and after-school activities. I need someone to get in touch with me regarding the possible lemon law or before it gets to that point about someone buying back my vehicle and putting me in something comparable of my choice. I am aware of the laws and my rights. Please contact me as soon as possible so we can have this resolved before anyone is seriously injured as a result of poor craftsmanship and production of my vehicle. Thank you very much in advance for your time.

My wife hit a concrete light pole base. The body damage was about 2500 dollars but the air bag light came on and white powder was in the car which meant the airbag went off but did not deploy the bag. The insurance company said, You need an airbag and any parts needed to repair it right even though it did not deploy to help stop my wife from moving forward. The car is a 2004 Sonata GLS with 66,000 miles on it as of July 5, 2014 the day of the accident. Hyundai said it is out of warranty but I said this is a device that will only work during an accident. They basically said too bad. The cost was over $3000.00 to replace the bag, seat belt and all the bells and whistles that make the bag NOT DEPLOY. The car is a total loss because of the air bag cost and why would I want to install a new bag that may or may not deploy. Hyundai recalled other year air bags like 2003 and 2006 but my 2004 is not included yet I have read many complaints of non--deploying. Do not trust air bags as a safety item and it doesnt matter what car. Use the seat belt and pray, lol. My car is a total loss but a friend wants to buy it as it has 66,000 miles on it and I am anal when it comes to doing everything the dealer wants you to do and when to do it. I will not buy another Hyundai but I do wish it would have made the recall list so if you have this problem report it to NTSD (NATIONAL TRANS SAFETY PLACE NOT SURE OF THE ACRONYM). Thats all folks. Trust no one.

I really loved driving my Hyundai Tiburon! Out of all of the cars on the lot, I liked it the best. I even recommend it to other people! It was a great car and made me like Hyundai as a car maker. I drove the car from Florida to Ohio and it ran beautifully the whole time! It was a small car and a standard transmission. It was great on gas and even though it was only a 4cyl. motor, it was very quick. However, I wish that the seat would have been more adjustable and that it would have gone up and down. I went in to take my 2011 Hyundai Sonata in for my lifetime warranty oil change at 7,500 miles. When I picked my car up, Thompson Hyundai charged me $25.96. They said they rotated my tires, which had to be done in order to keep receiving the warranty and the oil change was free.I feel as though they charged me for the oil change. I am very unsatisfied with Hyundai. I feel that every time I take it in for an oil change, they are going to charge me for something else due to the customer having to follow, at a minimum, the factory maintenance guide in order to receive my warranty.I own two Lincoln vehicles that get free lifetime oil changes. When I take these cars in, they change the oil, rotate the tires, and wash the car; all for free. I understand when the car starts getting older and the mileage starts increasing that they are going to be charging me for certain maintenance services. But I feel as though they are ripping people off and they are not giving free oil changes as they said they were. I contacted three people at Hyundai about this issue and they keep telling me that this is their policy.

I am having a serious concern about the rust and corrosion under the hood of the car meaning all of the metal clamps and motor mount are rusted, also the strut bolts are corroded. The metal on the power steering hose is rusted, the undercarriage is rusted at the weld points. I have had the car back to the Hyundai dealer three times now. Each time they have stated that they have sent pictures to the regional manager. I did speak with the regional manager recently and he said that he never received any pictures so I dropped the car off again to have pictures taken. This made the 3rd time that it had been dropped off. I am hoping for a positive result. The tech stated that this was not normal and ask if my car was at the shore points a lot. Finally, I ask to tell me the specifics of what tax and they have no idea and have the city I live in wrong - even though its the same as when I purchased the car? I purchased a new 2009 Hyundai Sonata GLS with a manual transmission about two or three years ago. I considered it to offer the most value for the price back then compared to an Accord, Camry, and other models. Unfortunately, I believe I made a mistake with this purchase. I wrote about my problems with this car on this forum before. Now, its time for a brief update. The power locks stopped working intermittently. This was a result of an electrical problem in the drivers side door panel. Thats not something that should happen in a car that is less than 3 years old. Another issue is that the iPod charger does not charge properly either, so sometimes my iPod has no battery power left even if it was charging while the car was on. The clutch master cylinder also has been replaced twice: once at about 12,000 miles and again at about 35,000 miles. The car has 40,000 miles on it now. Both times, the master cylinder was replaced free of charge. However, when I was getting a routine oil change about two weeks ago, the Hyundai technicians said that I needed a brand new clutch. Incredulous, I went home and found the maintenance records for the master cylinder because it had already been replaced twice. I went back to the local Hyundai dealer the next day and showed them these records and they said this had nothing to do with replacing the entire clutch and that it would not be covered under warranty. I asked why not and he said that the clutch was only covered by a 12-month/12,000 mile warranty because it was a consumable part.” He also said that the clutch can go out at 15,000 miles or 60,000 miles--depending on how you drive the car. Of course, Ive only driven cars with manual transmissions, so I know how to drive them. Ive driven cars that are much older than this one that have never had clutch problems, including an 11-year old Daewoo. But my Sonata made a rattling sound when it was idling and the gear shifts were not smooth. Now I know why. Anyway, after shelling out $1900, the car runs much better. But Im tired of dealing with maintenance issues with this car. I really want to like my Sonata, but I can no longer trust it. I think I would have been better served by paying the extra $1500 for a brand new car from a competitor instead of wasting my money and time being disappointed by a car that I really wanted to like that always seem to have a defective part or a part that is constructed of substandard quality. Theres not much dealership support and the parts dont seem particularly reliable. My wife had many problems with her 2007 Hyundai Accent as well, so I think Ive seen enough. We will not purchase another Hyundai.

I bought the 2011 Hyundai Elantra in November 2016 with the goal of keeping it till death do us part. I have always had that approach with cars. Well, the Crown Hyundai in St. Pete Florida failed to disclose of a clicking engine noise. On top of that, they did not fix the mandatory recalls until after I told them! Additionally, there is the whole issue of the steering coupler with ALL Hyundais. They do not disclose, inform you, notify you (dealer or corporate) in any way of the steering coupler issue, but your alignment, tires, other parts will suffer and you will pay THOUSANDS! My 40,000 warranty tires blew on the highway after 25,000 miles only! Plus, the whole tire size issue. The only size tires that fit into the Elantra only last 35,000-40,000 miles tops. So, if you drive average, you will replace tires every 2 years -- more expenses for you! This car is a DISASTER, and the customer service at the corporate level is horrible. CHECK THE LAWSUITS. I can clean the windows and its back in a few days. I constantly need to drive with the windows down for fresh air and unable to have passengers due to health and safety concerns. The problem seems to be coming from the vents on the dashboard (right below the windshield) regardless of whether the heat is on or off.I tested my theory by covering the vents for 2 days while driving and the symptoms below decreased. So the vapors that are causing the problems are coming through those dash vents which make sense considering the above problems. I turned on the defroster on 5/8/13 after the car sat all night and smelled antifreeze for about 2 minutes from the dash vents. Also I did some internet research and found some common themes with the 2012 Sonata GLS: PVC collapsing and causing fumes; vapors to back up inside the cabin; antifreeze vapors coming through the dash vents. The vapors/leaks were not detected through the pressure test, they were found through a manual check.Symptoms experienced by driver and/or passenger in vehicle are: dizziness; extreme eye irritation and burning; headache; taste buds dull out and when they return hours later, its almost a sugary taste; nausea.

I was sold a new lemon 2010 Hyundai Elantra with a defective electrical system. If the car is not started every day, the short in the car runs the battery down. This has happened 4 times already.

I own a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. On September 29, 2021, I had my oil changes. I was a thousand miles early but the oil light had come on. I asked the service station to check why my car was lagging when driving. Ive been going to the same place for years to get my car oiled. Not a Hyundai dealership. He told me that my engine is ruined due to the engine burning oil, the tip of the oil dipstick was burnt. I left to go home and my car died. I had it towed to the closest Hyundai Dealership which is the dealership in Palatine, IL.The next day I went to the dealership and dealt with Kyle ** (Im not completely sure that is his last name). Kyle is at the front desk of the service area. Kyle told me its probably going to take a month and a half & I should rent a car and Hyundai will pay $40 a day. I rented a car from September 30- November 1. On Monday, October 7, 2021 Kyle texted me and said they are looking for Update/recall 953 ECM, & said the recall was not done so my car does not qualify for the warranty. He took less than 30 seconds to tell me my car was trash & he’s just telling me what he’s been told & that I should contact Consumer Affairs!!! It wasn’t a big deal to him!! I take very good care of my car, I have all receipts for the service I have had done on my car from the places Ive had my car worked on. Needless to say I was so upset and not happy with that answer, my car has 68,000 miles on it.I have the phone number of the salesmen I bought the car from in 2014, at McGrath City Hyundai in Chicago, IL. His name is Frank, I called him and he agreed to help me since I received really poor customer service at the Palatine dealership. Kyle was less than professional or helpful. On one of the visits I made to the Palatine dealership he was so disrespectful, as he was walking away and his back was to me he said get your car out of here or Ill charge you for storage. I did let him know I was now going to be working with Frank who was going to work on my behalf through the Gurnee Dealership.Kyle was not going to let me get things out of my car until I paid $165 in diagnostic fees. I was told I didnt owe any money. Kyle did call me back and told me I dont owe anything. I can get belongings out of my car. On October 13th Frank told me he was going to have my car towed the next day, October 15th Frank said I have to call Palatine and pay a $100 fee Palatine would not release the car to Frank at his Gurnee, IL. location. I went and signed a release and was told no charge. On October 19th Frank said they were busy at his dealership and couldnt get my car. On October 20th I texted Frank & He said hed call me in 20 minutes, I never received the call. On October 22nd I sent Frank a text telling him I didnt want to bother him but I need some answers. He replied in the text that he was on the phone with Hyundai, he would text me in 5 minutes. He was almost done, never texted me. On Monday, October 23rd I texted Frank to see what was happening. He replied in a text shortly and never called or texted. On Wednesday, October 27th I sent Frank a text asking him or telling him if he cant help me please just be honest, I am desperate for answers. He emailed me back saying they just emailed him 2 hours ago that they have a conference call at 9 the next day. He said hed have a definite answer by noon, he never called me back.Frank told me about updates being done. When they are received has to be done in a certain time frame. Even if Im not aware of the updates, I didnt get notices on all the updates. Frank then gave me a phone number to get reimbursed for the rental Customer Service Specialist 714-887-2553 I have left several messages and I am not getting a return call. He had e email him the receipts. Here it is November 8th, Im no better off than I was September 29th! Frank is now at The Gurnee dealership. I called the Gurnee dealership to find out Franks last name and the person on the phone said he was new and didnt know his last name. I do have cell phone numbers for both gentlemen. I started working with Frank on October 7th. I really thought Frank was going to help me with my car and I appreciated him saying he was going to help me but he really just wasted time and I do wish he wouldve been honest with me and told me he cant help me. I had sent Frank my drivers license, bill of sales & known updates done at a Highland Park, IL. dealership. I have copies of text messages.Consumer Affairs did call me once, I missed the call they said they would call back and they have not. I am amazed how uncaring and unprofessional this company is. I have left several messages with no response. I am so tired of Hyundai taking advantage of me. I will NEVER buy or recommend to anyone buy a Hyundai. I have never experience a situation as bad as this in my life. Hyundai is not a stand up corporation in my eyes. They are failures. TOTALLY TAKING ADVANTAGE!

Great on has mileage, comfy for long trips, are at 96,000 mile mark and no issues with this car except a few minor details. Little to no servicing except regular checks and tired. Cons: Side mirror sticks, paint on handles has peeled off, 2 pieces back trim window replaced. 6 years, not bad at all!!

I had my 2007 Hyundai in to my local mechanic for an oil change and they told me I needed a battery. I decided to have my husband change it in order to save some money. I turned out that the battery was okay but the terminal was not closing all the way. We went to several auto parts stores but none had the correct part. We contacted our local Hyundai dealer and they said that part was not stocked or sold. We would have to buy a wiring harness that connected the battery terminal to the battery post and then to the starter at a cost of $380. I said that was absurd and would not buy it. Luckily, my husband is handy and was able to fit a terminal with some sort of connection to the wiring harness. Because my husband had to put a non-Hyundai part on there is no cover on the positive battery terminal, I dont know if this could be dangerous or not; if you are expecting the protection of the cover, its not there.

Had to replace both passenger and driver side axle on my 2011 Hyundai Sonata. This should not have happened. The car is only 5 years old. There must be more out there that have had to replace these. Please send your comments then and notify corporate headquarters Hyundai. Please, in order to get a recall and your money back if you have already replaced these. You can google Hyundai Sonata or Honda corporate headquarters and get a phone number or call a local Hyundai dealer, they will give it to you.

Hyundai Getz, repair of tail light - My partner recently cracked the plastic tail light on her car. Being a Hyundai, she took it to Hyundai in Brighton Victoria and was quoted $250 for the part and installation. It sounded steep so I bought the part from Repco ($60) and replaced it in about six minutes. I am no car expert. My dissatisfaction is that we were about to get ripped off by Hyundai. It makes me wonder why we would take the car for a service anywhere near Hyundai. There was absolutely no loyalty shown to us as Hyundai customers. I am not sure if Mazda or Holden would do the same, but this performance of customer service was appalling.

Hyundai wont credit a months lease payment even though my vehicle is in for engine repairs for over a month and the clock is still ticking. I leased a 2012 Genesis R-spec. Around 12,000 miles, I started hearing intermittent engine knocking. When I took the car in for service, a service specialist said there is no issue and any engine issues would be covered by a warranty. 5,000 miles later, the engine knocking was happening all the time above 2,500 RPM or under acceleration or driving up a hill. When I took the car in for service, the service specialist said yes, this engine knocking. Five weeks later, Im still without my Genesis. Apparently, Hyundai doesnt know how to maintain a parts supply chain very well. Besides the engine problem, there are other design problems with the car: seats with very poor support that become very noticeable on a long drive; too much play in the steering wheel which at high speeds can be a bit dangerous since there can be an abrupt jerk of the wheel; and a transmission that doesnt always know when to shift. As a previous owner of Mercedes, BMW and Lexus, I will surely think twice about owning a Hyundai again.

I purchased a Hyundai i20 Magna from Joshi Automobiles Mohali Punjab. At the time of delivery, several things were not provided to me though they said they’ll deliver it to me within few days. Even when I got my car insured from Joshi Showroom twice, every time, the insurance policy was sent after 6 months. Now, about the tire problem, the tires they provided me with the car were of zero quality. Just after 3 months, the tires got punctured not just one or two times. In fact, all tires were getting punctured twice or thrice a week. I lodged several complaints but there was no action taken by the dealer. Just for show cause, they issued me a fake inspection report.

A lot of people are talking about the big lie Hyundai used to increase sales. I dont know if it came from Korea or the greedy US division came up with it, but I am very disappointed. Like some others, Im not as upset about the mileage as I am about feeling screwed. I work hard for my money and do a lot of research before I purchase a new vehicle. I owned a 2003 Sonata that made me feel they made a quality product. The 2011 Elantra was priced at $18,400 on their website, along with the $1,000 customer loyalty discount. It would be the perfect car for my 16-year-old daughter. When I got to the dealer, theyre in such demand (because of the mileage lie) I had to wait until June when the 2012s came out. Then they tacked on a $1,995 market parity adjustment and customer loyalty discount doesnt apply to the Elantra. So I paid $21,500. I feel like a sap. Every day when I go out to the driveway, I am reminded of how your company took advantage of me. When I took it in for the mileage check for the fuel debit card, I talked to the salesman about turning it in for another car. The dealer (Jenkins of Leesburg, Florida) has a Volkswagen lot next door. My daughter and I agreed to trade it in until we were told it was only worth $12,000. Wow, do I feel screwed? Will I ever buy another Hyundai? What do you think?

The worst ever - they never know what is actually owed. They ask for the next months payment in advance of due date. The hold time is ridiculous. Customer service representatives are complete idiots. I will never buy another Hyundai. I think their banking standards are substandard. I question their legitimacy. I believe they are fraudulent. I asked for a statement representing my payment history. It did not match my bank records. I requested it a second time and again it did not reflect what was paid on my bank statements. I asked what the final payoff would be at the end of the lease on 3 separate occasions and got 3 different answers. Avoid Hyundai motor financing at all cost, I will in the near future.

DO NOT LEASE FROM HYUNDAI. They have the worst customer service skills. 9+ weeks waiting for a response to get my registration renewal. It’s out since March and is nearly 1st June still nothing from them. Every day for a solid 5 weeks I called. I spoke to so many employees and managers every day. They told me a different lie every time, stay away from these guys. After reading reviews it seems they are known for stuff like this. Also I called the dealer in Norwood MA and they too did not respond to any of my calls. Finally today I received my registration and decal thanks to my insurance company. They requested a duplicate. If anyone else is having the same problem call your insurance company for help. I cannot wait until my lease is up so I never gotta deal with these guys again.

Premier car should have quality parts installed or repair the part for the customer at no cost. Plastic cover over sensors should be on a recall. Plastic cracked on the 2015 Genesis with less than 2,000 miles and Hyundai wont honor it. Way out of coverage is they saying a rock struck it with no sign of damage on the cover except its cracked.

My daughter left Rehoboth Beach DE heading home to Philadelphia on June 24t
My daughter left Rehoboth Beach DE heading home to Philadelphia on June 24th when the engine on her Tucson gave out in the middle of the Delaware Turnpike. She had it towed to a dealer in Philly the next day. After a month at the dealership she was finally told that Hyundai USA had approved her warranty complaint and that they would be replacing the engine. We were told that it would be the middle to the end of September before it would be available... then October... then November. Today, November 14, 2018 I received an email that the engine wont be available until early January 2019! As someone else had said, I doubt seriously that the engine will be available then! This is ridiculous that they do not have replacement engines available. The engine has to come from Korea and they cite production delays as the problem. There is sure as hell new Hyundais coming every freakin day from Korea, so why isnt there replacement engines available? The 100,000 mile warranty is not worth the paper it is written on! It is a scam and I would caution everyone before you think about buying a Hyundai... DONT!

I have got a used Hyundai Sonata 3 months ago. So wanted to register for BlueLink so found it was registered on a travel as the car was used to rental service. So called almost 25 times but the customer care always said two days one week but till now I have the same issue. My BlueLink is not registered. I got a reference number ** which I think is no use. If you all can’t do the service properly then better remove that app from the car. It’s waste to buy Hyundai when they cannot do what they have promised.
