Nothing but issues with our 2011 and it just hit 60000 miles. Multiple recalls, alternator, water pump, multiple issues with the front end, air conditioning and heat are all issues that have had to be replaced or fixed. My wife has been left stranded 3 times, twice with the kids, and once was only a couple of days after we dropped it off for our warranty covered inspection/oil change/tire rotation.. Also have multiple friends with the same vehicle and they all have had the same issues and more. Two friends with transmission issues and another with engine failure after the transmission was replaced with just over 100000 miles on it. Ours now is starting to have a burning smell after being driven and takes a second before it knocks and goes into gear. Very disappointed in GM and wont purchase another.

2013 GMC Acadia Denali with 13,500 miles. The driver seat bezel is cracked. Brought it in to the dealer for warranty repairs. Was told by the dealer that this problem is very common and there is no stock available to fix the seat. I am now on a waiting list to get it fixed. Because the crack is so bad I now have packing tape holding the electronic seat controls from falling out of the seat housing. Since this is so common, why is there no re-call and why isnt GMC doing more to keep up with the parts demand?

I have had this 2009 Acadia car into the dealer many time for many recalls. One got it back and it left me on the side of the road. Now it has a bad timing chain. And the dealer tells me I was low on oil, sends me home. Light back on and timing is the problem. They will not fix it said its the motor. I bought a extended warranty that covers this. GMC GM still will not fix it. I am a mother of 3 and this is got to be the lowest thing a car company can not stand by.

I bought a GMC Acadia for my dad, brand new 0 miles. Ive had all kinds of problems.. Some lights stopped working. AC we turn it off and it keeps working. Yesterday my dad was gonna go to work and that piece of junk didnt wanna start with key stock on the ignition. The day we bought it staff was very helpful but GMC is the worst brand out there. Do a favor to yourself and buy any other brand but GMC. GMC is junk. I rather have any Korean car than this useless car company.

To start with, coil packs all of them now 118,000 miles and I paid hell to get there. Next motor mounts, wow fix them and see how that feels (not good and really ridiculous). Next front axles and now some new noise coming from the front left front area, and another fun project changing spark plugs. Maybe you should not try to put 50lbs. of potatos in a 20 lbs. sack, you know what I mean. I going to have to say Ive owned a lot of cars and I build them all the time, SHELBY1966 AC COBRAS the finest youll ever see, and I dont expect for GMC to stand up to my standards, but I do know what a car should be and this 2009 GMC Acadia does not even get close. Oh and forgot the tail light (brake light and front and rear turn signals, out and Ive heard about and read about it on here and other sites something wrong with the wiring and they say the same thing as always bla, bla bla, ** talk, but the one thing they dont understand is Im done with their sorry excuses and lame **. I will have to go to someone else to buy my cars. You know if we all stuck together, we would get what we should, when we buy something. Well I hope someone reads this and gets off their aces and starts to do the right thing and fix the things they should, and maybe they might win back some of their customers, but for me, bite me once shame on you, bite me twice and take a hike GMC. You know this might sound funny but Im not sure, even if they gave me a new one, that I would take it. I just dont have the time, nor do I want to spend the time to keep it on the street, and well lets not forget about the money involved with all of those fun times running around and getting hog wash from their Techs, and I dont blame them, they didnt build or design them. Bad for them I guess. Now all that being said, I do not want some of you to get fired up and write some stuff back about how great your car is and no problems bla, bla, bla, You can not tell someone something different than what they already know, and that is I know what a car is and how it should perform and you can not take away from me, please do not try. And if you do felt the urge too, please note all of the other people here on the net with the same problems and same results, excuses after excuses and no one owning up to them. The only peace of mind is knowing I dont have to deal with GMC anymore. I really Wish All The Best To Everyone Still Stuck With One Of These For A Lack Of A Better Word (Car). Good Luck!!

My 2010 Acadia is needing its 3rd water pump. I have already had to have the struts replaced and now the dealership is saying I need them again. I am being informed my timing chains are stretched and need replacing too. This has truly been the worst vehicle I have ever purchased and will definitely steer clear of making that mistake again. Despite the multiple complaints over many of these same issues, the only thing I can get covered under warranty by GMC is the water pump... of course, the least expensive thing to fix. Its a shame the company will not help the consumers out, but in the end, they are only hurting themselves. Never buying GM again!

I purchased my 2007 GMC Acadia brand New. A week after owning it, the liftgate shocks went bad, it hit me in the head putting groceries away. I NOTICED a popping sound coming from the steering, as Id turn, took it in, according to them its fine... 3 weeks, I was just driving and it completely shut down no warning, I had to put it into park, restart it. Took it in, ran a diagnosis and nothing. December 2008, winter I was driving the car, the gas pedal went to the floor again, no warning, almost wrecked into a pole. Ive had continuous issues with my SUV, with the warranty, even worse now that I paid it off, repairs are more than anything else. Approximately 4000.00 in repairs now. I feel I should get a replacement being that this SUV only has 47,000 miles on it!!! Currently its in the shop, for the throttle body, last month I formed out $900.00 for brakes! Paid $125 For evap. valve. Im sick of this unsafe cartel or junk. I dont even take my child around in it because its not safe!

For months we were seeing the RPMs running higher than they should. 5000 when trying to pass and they did not release soon after. Took it to dealer several times and they kept making adjustments but nothing changed. On a trip to Ottawa, we were putting gas in when we noticed a burning smell. We took it to a nearby dealership and he was finally able to figure it out. Our rear brakes were seized. After 40,000 km? How could we have prevented this and why didnt the local dealership figure this out before?

Our 2011 GMC Acadia (18,500 miles) will be in the shop for the third time as of tomorrow within four weeks. Each time, it has been to a different dealer/shop for repair. The first two noted two very different issues, but it boils down to the fact that the vehicle has serious electrical issues. There are numerous complaints/threads about the 2011 Acadia regarding this issue, amongst others. We have contacted GM corporate/customer service (which takes us to Austin, TX) and have been given the runaround ever since. The vehicle actually lost power when I was on the road driving recently. I had no power to go forward, and could only reverse. We have serious concerns now about the safety of this vehicle, and the Texas customer service department, District Specialists, Jamal and Shareef (not sure how to spell Shareef, but I will spell it like it sounds), and Shareefs supervisor, Josh (**), have done nothing but brush us off, leave us waiting on the phone for an hour (literally). They tell us they will call us back at a certain time and then do not follow through, and give us attitude. The car is still not running correctly. Today Josh - who refuses to give his last name, refuses to give us the name of his boss and tells us we cant go above him, tells us to take it to the dealer (again) and if we are still not happy, they will look into swapping it out. Josh refuses to tell us what that process includes, or how long it may take. Keep in mind we have already been told this by Shareef, so they seem to like to keep pushing you off in efforts to not deal with you. Not one of them has seemed overly concerned about our safety. This is supposed to be our family car (three kids, two dogs), as well as our mountain car. We live in CO and are in the mountains about 2-3 times a month. What if the Acadia had shut down on us, or slipped out of gear like it did the first time and when we were unable to move, on a steep grade? Or on the mountain highways in general? The chances of us being hit and potentially killed are very, very high. There are very few places to pull over and people tend to drive fast.We are highly disappointed with the individuals we have dealt with in Texas, as well as ** who works for a Chevy dealer (who was supposed to have fixed our car this last time) on 120th Ave. in Broomfield, CO. He seemed to think that the car shutting down on me on a highly traveled road was somewhat normal and a safety feature. He said that all cars have problems, and we should just expect them. Needless to say, the runaround and lack of general interest in our situation makes me seriously question the product I bought from GM, and GM all around. I should have bought the Nissan Armada. We are sorry to have given GM our business at this point. As a side note, each dealership who was supposed to have fixed our car (GMC in Glenwood Springs and Chevy on 120th) returned our car back very dirty. Grease marks were on the drivers, passenger door and wheel (Chevy), and tons of dust and debris were coating the interior of our car, which indicates they left the windows wide open (Glenwood Springs). ** at Chevy offered us a coupon at a local car wash, but did not seem to care or think it was bad customer service to give us back the Acadia more dirty than it initially was. These were terribly customer service experiences all around.

I bought a 2008 GMC Acadia in March of 2011. It was my biggest car purchase and I was very excited to buy it. It was everything I wanted and more, with lots of space for my family of 7 and many great accommodations. Last year, in Aug. 2012, I began having issues with it, water leaking, engine lights coming on and random cut offs. I took it to the dealer and they wanted me to replace the trans, which is very costly. I did not. My husband and I had the trans flushed and everything seemed to be okay again for a few months. When spring came around and rain came down, more problems began. Every time it rained, my battery was drained. Eventually, the car just stopped working. We took it to the dealer numerous times, but no one listened when I explained my thoughts that the leaking had something to do with the problem. We replaced two batteries in a week. The dealer claimed they couldnt find anything wrong with the car, but when I went to leave, the car went into battery saver mode so I took it right back. The service advisor was clearly annoyed and ignored me for the first 15 minutes I was there. I again explained my concerned that the rain and water that had leaked into my vehicle had something to do with the electrical issues I was having. He told me the two things had nothing to do with each other. A few days later, he calls and tells me that there was a leak in the front caused by the sun roof and that was causing the issues. We paid to repair that and he said that we were good to go. About a week later, the problem happened again. The dealership had our car for more than ten days (mind you, I am 7 months pregnant right now with a high risk pregnancy). This time, we worked with a person a friend recommended, and they repaired the rear moon roof at no charge for all of the inconvenience. I was very thankful for this. Unfortunately, three days and two nights rain later, my car will not start again. How is this still happening and why is this not being recalled? I cannot afford to put myself and my family at risk every time I get into my car.

I purchased a 2012 Acadia with 55K miles a few years ago and honestly it was the best riding and most spacious truck I have ever owned. I loved it until it started have random issues with engine light going off all the time and it was always another sensor that need to be replaced. Finally a month before the warranty ran out the engine light was reading timing belt (dealer said stretched and needed new at $3,000). Truck was running fine as I saved up the money for that. Then when I did bring it to the dealer to get new timing chain they told me the next day that it had camshaft engine failure and it would cost me $8,800 to fix it.I still owe 11,500 on it and trade in is $9,500. Ran fine when I brought it in and now does not run at all. Contacted GMC and they were very in telling me they would not honor the warranty that ran out a few months ago even though the engine and chain failure was well within warranty. GMC and the dealer agreed to discount the engine to $6,400 but that only puts the price were it should have been in the first place. Found some records at the dealers that says engine went in 2013 with 2,600 miles on it too. That for sure means GMC is well aware of this engine chain and camshaft problem but refuses to acknowledge it or take responsibility for it and that BUCK STOPS HERE... Small claims court here we come... Sorry for all you others out there that purchased a GMC product as they were a great company 15 years ago until they decide to go the route of Ford in 1975. Just bad trucks and customer service until they almost went out of business.

2009 GMC Acadia SLT - Well, lets start after I bought it new in 2009. 1ST day after getting home the Sun roof was leaking, would not seal all the way closed and the right headlight went out. Next issue was about 5100 miles when I went to shut the car off and pull the key out and it stayed running until I put the key in and out several times to shut it off. Around 25000 miles was 2 motor mounts that came loose or Broke they never said? DVD players crapped out shortly after. Both screens and the box under the are rest replaced. 3300 miles - the steering started making a clicking sound and squealing sound. This was the rack and pinion and power steering pump. 37000 - the car just shut down while driving on the interstate. 40000 - water pump went out. Around 45000 - started the loss of coil pack#2 in the motor. 47000 was coil pack#4. 51000 was coil pack #6, after picking it up after this replacement on the way home its started bucking again at 45MPH, guess what? Coil pack #1 is gone. This car has been the WORST US made piece of crap I have ever owned. GMC, I will never buy again nor will my children. GMC was purchased at Ferman Automotive Group in Tampa with Financing $58600.00. All repairs were done at GMC certified dealership in Orlando Florida.

I am furious! My husband and I have a 2007 Acadia and within the past three months, due to extensive rainfall, the car has become completely non-functional. Why in the world has there not been a recall or lawsuit involving the fact that these cars leak water into the electrical system? First the AC stopped working in the back (temporary). Then the AMP completely blew out - no radio, no turn signal sound. When my husband looked it up online, he discovered what MANY people have encountered... the two (driver and passenger) electrical door connections were FULL OF WATER! Then today!!!!! I put my car in park and pulled the keys from the ignition and the engine continued to run for two minutes (By the sound of it, I truly thought I was hearing my Dads 1976 El Camino)... It then stuttered and died!!!!!! Now battery is dead because something under the hood has continued running despite the cars idle state. Warranty gone! Electrical system was repaired by previous owners after 2008 recall. SOOO Frustrated!!!!! How much money am I looking at here?

Purchased a 2013 Acadia Denali, not even a year ago. Suddenly, dealing with major oil consumption. Within 100 miles been down 2-3 quarts low. Been in and out of a dealership 3 times now (still under power terrain warranty). Dealer tops oil off and runs it around, says its fine. This is only happening to me according to them. People, I cant stress enough, these cars have been a headache since 2007, and even years later theyre still seeing more time than needed at a dealership. We have done nothing but baby this vehicle since we owned it at 60k. Now has 80k. 20k miles for this thing to start failing? GMC has been NO HELP. They keep directing me to a dealer. Dealer is either overfilling it and letting the overfill burn off or is dumping some sort of miracle job into the motor to get it to quit. Run far away from these vehicles. Theyll do nothing but give headaches and drain your bank account.

I purchased a new 2011 GMC Acadia and three years (38,500 miles) after driving, I was advised by my local dealer that there was a leak in the rack and pinion, and on the steering wheel gear. The cost to repair these was quoted at no less than $1,500. Fortunately, the dealer agreed to perform repairs on goodwill. I was not aware that these were a common issue with Acadias. During the time Ive owned it, I have had to repair electrical wiring on the passenger window as it wouldnt always roll up/down. I have also noticed that when driving on the freeway it slows down/cranks up when shifting gears. I am very disappointed in having to deal with these issues when I still have a note for the vehicle. I contacted GMC directly and posed a few questions which they werent able to answer. 1. What is the guarantee on repairs made? A. No guarantee. 2. What is the average repair cost to own an Acadia? A. They dont have that information. 3. How reliable are Acadias? A. Very reliable vehicle. When I asked if they were aware of low reliability rating on Kelley Blue Book and Edmunds, their response was that they were not aware of that. After my phone call I have decided to sell my Acadia because I deem it unsafe and unreliable and obviously, GMC doesnt stand by its product. Never looking back to GMC.

We have had multiple problems with our 2008 GMC Acadia. The one that we will be bringing it in for for the 3rd time is a leaky sunroof. In hard rains, it leaks internally leaving us with a very soaked passenger side floor and electrical issues - the first time the car wouldnt shut off even after removing the key. Ive researched this and have found multiple complaints from this model year and others. The dealership claims its not a manufacturers problem. The first time I brought it in and told them the issue (leaking sunroof), they claimed the water was coming up from underneath the car. I went to pick it up on a day with heavy rain. Before leaving the dealership, I tried turning it off and it continued to run even with the key removed - service person was very embarrassed especially after I told him the issue and they said I was wrong. Took it in again with the same problems and they said the sunroof drain was clogged. That was last fall. Today we had a hard rain. The floor is soaked again. My biggest complaint is the dealership/manufacturer not owning up to the problem. As I said, there are numerous blogs with the same complaints, but they wont own up to it. I hate even looking at them, i.e., dealership, any more.

I purchased a 2010 GMC Acadia from the dealer for $47,927.20 on 1 February 2010. In October of 2011, I had Major work done on the vehicle. The Engine check light came and the vehicle started making a rattle noise in the morning. The dealer informed me that the cause was internal failure, (code J0778). In fact, means secondary camshaft intermediate drive chain tensioner replacement - right side needed. These problems continue for another year, resulting in a replacement of an engine, water pump and a transmission. This problem still exists and vehicle is not safe to drive out of town. GMC offered me a $6000 rebate on a trade-in on another Acadia. No thanks, still fighting.

So got the Acadia and fell in love, it fit our family of 6 perfectly! Soon after I noticed the passenger front and back windows would hesitate to roll down sometimes...over looked it because I was so happy to have it, then came the air bag light - it was a known issue but no one could do anything about it to clear it out! Now mind you I got my car in Jan so it was cold, now were getting into summer and running the ac more and it makes this loud screeching noise when its on low. I was told it was from water leaking in from the sunroof, GREAT! All these problems are bothersome but not so costly. The biggest problem came today. I was driving with my 2 kids, stopped at a red light, got ready to take off and it was like someone unplugged the car - it just wouldnt go. Luckily I was coming down off a slight incline so I was able to roll into a parking lot where the check engine light came on. And Im being told Its $2500 to rebuild the transmission and put a new wave plate in (the wave plate is what broke in the transmission causing the issue) but they cant guarantee it will last more than 10,000 miles because there could have been more damage done by the broken wave plate. They can give it a full check for $127 a hr or I could get a new transmission for $4000. Of course my warranty ended last year and there is no recall for this issue that so many people are having. I absolutely love everything about this car but whats the point of having a really nice car if you cant drive it and 11 months into it Im having all these issues. I will definitely be trading this vehicle in the first chance I get! GM is supposed to be the best of the best but thats definitely not the case. GMC Acadia is like a cubic zirconia, looks good but worth absolutely nothing!

When we purchased our 2009 Acadia, it was the day they announced their bankruptcy. We bought anyway because we wanted to buy American and be part of the solution. We loved the midsize look and feel and with the captains chairs in the middle, it allowed our third child, not in a carseat, to get to the back row nicely. So this vehicle is very nice for its practicality and spacious feel for all riders given its smaller size.So the bad news. One recall after another after another. I cant complain too much about that, as long as they get it right. What I am angry about is that there is a transmission problem throughout the company. GM mechanics know this. They know the solenoids are crap, but keep putting junk in their vehicles so that we the consumer has to pay an arm and a leg to get a $65 piece replaced because it requires taking the whole engine out. This happened once at 65k miles, and I thought, well, I guess this happens because that is what the mechanic said. But now it is happening again one year later, a different coil this time. I refuse to keep paying for this is. This is a known issue and the company is doing nothing about it.If I have to, I will do something about it. I will go back to buying Mitsubishi and Audi like I have in the past. Never had any solenoid coil problems with those cars. Never had any customer service problems either. As a matter of fact, Audi has stood by their products even out of warranty because they felt bad about a water pump that went bad. Lets see if GM steps up and takes care of those that took care of them in their darkest moment.

I purchased a used 2008 GMC Acadia with a GMC certified vehicle. (Late 2011) AND purchased the extended warranty. At first I was totally in love with this vehicle. Then the transmission went, and it’s been all downhill since then (I do make it noted that the transmission was covered under the original warranty THANKFULLY, but did have problems within hours of getting it back). Every alert light and alarm went off for about 2 minutes (happened while on VERY busy highway). Took it back to the dealer and was told that it was probably still went from the power wash?? So it sat there for 2 more days. Then within 6 months, it was leaking transmission fluid, took it back to the dealer and was told that a gasket was bad. It got taken apart again, and this time my extended warranty covered that with only a $100.00 out of my pocket. Since then I have done my oil changes, taken it in for recalls and all of this is still wrong: This is a list of things that I have currently wrong with my Acadia. 1. Rear window wiper doesn’t turn off. (Don’t use it anymore because of this) 2. Passenger seat warmer light on control panel stays on but seat warmer isnt on. 3. Passenger window (at times) wouldnt go down (at first), but when I would turn off the car, and come back later it would work. Now, it wont go down at all. 4. Back windows are starting to have the same problems as the front passenger side window (I leave them up now and have the air on). 5. Lights on dashboard dim and brighten on their own at any time. 6. While driving all gages, lights, radio, and anything electrical turned off, but CAR STAYED DRIVING. Pulled over shut car off and waited 5 minutes and turned it back on, and everything went back to normal (This has happened 2x so far). 7. Access port for MP3/IPod works on and off, cutting music in and out (I have bought 4 new cords and this happens to them all and the latest one is only 1 month old). 8. Back alert lights and beep stop working on and off. 9. Struts are leaking since transmission was fixed, and didnt before I had that done. 10. When done filling car up with gas, it wont start. It takes SEVERAL tries to get it going.11. Tire sensor went and leaked all the air out of my tire (I got a flat tire and lucky I was in a small town with a garage within walking distance). That cost me $165.00. Now another one is going. And I am noticing that the air is going out of THAT tire! The original warranty is over, and my extended warranty doesnt cover electrical problems. So, total I received ANOTHER recall for this vehicle, this time for the automatic lift gate prop rod. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am. I am currently paying almost $500.00 a month for this car and I cannot afford to put thousands of dollars in it to fix all this! It’s CRAZY! I know some of the problems I have are minor irritations, but if I am paying for a vehicle to have all the bells and whistles, they better work!I called GMC today and voiced my complaints. They are supposed to call me back tomorrow and let me know if they can help me at all. I purchased this vehicle for my two girls, one of whom has spina bifida and needs a wheelchair (so we need lots of room). I need a good performing vehicle because of the amount of time I spend in the car taking her back and forth to doctor appointments that are about 1 hour away from our house. Anyone else experience all of these things?? Did you get it fix?? If so what was it?? Bottom line, I don’t think I will by another GM. I will be optimistic about their call.

Please be advised that this letter of complaint pertains to my 2011 GMC Acadia Denali car. On April 9, 2011, I brought the car in for service at Miller Buick GMC, 920 Route 1 North, Woodbridge, NJ. I informed the service dept. that the steering wheel makes a swishing noise when making turns with the car. Following an inspection of the car, I was informed that the rack and pinion had to be replaced and that this part was under recall due to faulty manufacturing and would be replaced at no charge.Fast forward 3 years later to March 4, 2014 and for the 2nd time, I bring the car in for not only an oil change but again, the steering wheel makes a swishing noise when making turns with the car. Following an inspection of the car I was informed that the rack and pinion had to be replaced for the second time and that this would cost an estimated $1,735.00 plus tax. When inquiring about this part, I was informed that this part has been corrected by GMC due to it being faulty when the car was manufactured. So the new rack and pinion part should not have the same problem once it is replaced. My concern is this, I purchased a brand new GMC Acadia Denali and it was manufactured with a faulty part during production. I have paid and still paying top dollar on this car note. Why is GMC billing me for $1,735.00 plus tax on a part that was faulty to begin with? This is poor automotive business. I have been a customer of GMC since 1986 for other vehicles. This Acadia car is only 3 years old and should not have this same problem a 2nd time around. Please be advised that I am requesting that GMC replace the rack and pinion for the 2nd time, with no cost to me as the consumer due to faulty manufacturing at the time of production of the car. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I purchased a 2008 Acadia on February 28, 2013. We love the body style and room in it. However it has been nothing but a thorn in our side. It had 58k miles on it when we got it. Just 10k miles and 4 months later we had to put a transmission in. Weve also replaced the alternator, power steering pump, water pump and now we just had another transmission replaced in December (Merry Christmas to me). Not to mention the latest problem needed... a new rack and pinion. I’m not driving mountains or pulling anything with my Acadia. I dont even have a hitch. So its not like Im putting major wear and tear on the car. Ive talked to GM several times and sent numerous letters. Their response was basically Im responsible for buying the piece of junk they rolled off the line. When does GM become responsible for what they are producing? This is their product and they should stand behind it. I will never buy another GM product. My 2005 Ford Escape with 213k miles has been the car that got me through while my Acadia was being repaired.

Like everyone else....My 2008 GMC Acadia is having transmission failure. AGAIN. This will be my 3rd transmission in this vehicle. My first replacement was 30k miles ago, and now its in the shop again. I had my transmission rebuilt last year because right when I hit 100k miles I started having problems. It ended up being everyones favorite, the wave plate. Now, they are telling me its the torque converter. Before this vehicle, I had a GMC Sierra which was covered under the lemon law due to serious brake problems. After fighting them for so long on that truck, they gave me this vehicle. What a nightmare it has been.I wrote GM an email with screen shots of many of the complaints in this forum. Along with many other complaints and stats that I found regarding the bad transmissions in these vehicles. I then contacted them via Twitter and phone. They told me they will pay 30% of the repair. Wow GM, how kind of you. I have had every problem documented, leaks in the vehicle, electrical failure, car just stopped running when I was going 75 on the 405 in LA at 11pm at night. That was fun.I am now fighting them on this transmission repair. This transmission should have been recalled. Worst part of it, this is just an old transmission from a previous Acadia that they rebuilt and are trying to charge me $2,800 for. Its not like they recalled it and fixed the issue, then built new transmissions. Its going to have the same exact wave plate issues, because its the same transmission! What dont they get about this? It has been such a battle with GM over the last 8 years. All I want to do is get as far away as possible from GM & GMC. They have no love for their customers and do not work hard enough to give anyone a reason to stick around. Their new CEO better start working double over time.

I purchased my 2010 GMC Acadia in the summer of 2010. Since then Ive been in love with my SUV and still am until May 2013 when my Air Conditioner stop working. According to the dealer (where I always take my vehicle) they says its the Condenser which cost $848.84. After the repair everything was great and I was COOL. Until September 2015 when there is another problem with my AC thats going to cost $2211.00 to fix. What in the hell. Contact GMC Inc. After several emails no calls over the phone just emails. They told me they are unable to help me but my dealer at Ourisman of Alexandria VA will help out with some coupons. Spoke to someone today 06 October 2015. The only help they would help me is $200. I know I should be happy but it still have to come out of my pocket with a lot more money when I just knew my problem was fixed with the last amount. Now 2 years later I have another issues with the AC. Not asking for the bill to be paid in full (GMC has more money than me) but a little more help than $200 would have been much appreciated. HELP. HELP.

I bought a GMC Acadia in 2009 brand new. It was nice as all new cars. I meticulously maintained it and even ensured to buy the extended warranty when purchased. If you are keeping count thats almost a total of $48k. So my transmission decides to fail at 72348 and I contact the dealer to be told that myvehicle is not covered by the manufacturer warranty or extended warranty as of 4 months ago. REALLLY! Then every possible shop I have spoken to has suggested that the transmission should not have failed at that mileage. Seems like I was doomed from the day I purchased this vehicle. I contacted GM corporate office to see if they would assist at least with parts and I pay labor. NADA. No help. Save your money; do not BUY ANY GM BRAND. Now I guess I understand why Toyota, Honda, and Nissan are normally better buys. If you have an original warranty stating drive train etc. for 100000 miles, you should honor it. I AM AT 28000 MILES SHY OF THAT. WHY SHOULD I PAY $3000 FOR A TRANSMISSION? ANSWER ME THAT GM AKA PROFESSIONAL GRADE!

This is our second ownership of a GMC Acadia since it was rolled out in 200
This is our second ownership of a GMC Acadia since it was rolled out in 2007. As a family member of a former GM Employee, we purchased a 2007 GMC Acadia under the GM Employee program. That vehicle was plagued with problems. DVD player issues, fuel injectors, radiator, engine coils, trim rattles, the list goes on. The problems were so bad that the car was being taken to the dealership monthly and in some cases weekly. In 2009, we reached out to GMC at the advice of our service manager. GMC offered us 3 free oil changes for our troubles. Hardly a repayment for all the problems we had with the vehicle. To make a long story short, I contacted the BBB, filed a complaint and GM purchased the vehicle back as a Lemon. In 2009, using the refund from the buyback through the GM employee program, we purchased another GMC Acadia. This time the current 2009. We were told by the dealership that all of the issues that plagued the initial roll out had been fixed. This is certainly not the case. Again, we have had the same problems with the car being in and out of the dealership on monthly and sometimes weekly basis. Fortunately, they have all been covered under warranty until this most recent wave of problems.Several of these issues have put my family and me in great danger. Very early on in the car, when the fuel injectors broke, we were traveling home from vacation when the vehicle powered down on its own (to protect the engine) in the middle of a very busy freeway, I could not pull it over. We were stuck with semi-trucks racing past and my children crying in the back seat. All I could do was pray we didnt get smashed from behind while we wait for a tow truck. Another time is when the wave plate exploded in the transmission. I was driving my newborn baby home from the hospital! My wife, fresh out of a C-section, and my 5 day old newborn are stuck on a freeway because the transmission broke (which GM knew about because they issued a Special Warranty for its repair.)For the past month, my car has been at the dealership, due to catalytic converters that are clogged and needing to be replaced, then the timing chain needs to be replaced (which GM issues a special warranty to cover the cost) and now I am being told that the oil pump, pickup tube, and oil screen is filled with sludge and will cost me $1,600 to replace. I change my oil every 3,000 to 4,000 miles or when the oil gauge on the vehicle says 50% remaining. How on earth is there that much sludge. Turns out, after doing an internet search, that this is a common problem with the Acadia and there are pages and pages of customer complaints saying the exact same thing! All of which GM denies.GM knows the Acadia is bad. My service rep says he has never seen a vehicle with so many special warranty items issued on the car. My car needs to be purchased back as it is unsafe and unreliable and GM says they will give me $2,000. Sad considering I have given them 2 chances now. GM will not stand behind their products or do the right thing. They have forever lost a customer.

We bought my 2008 GMC Acadia brand new! When I had 30,000 miles on it, my transmission went out! I got it back and 1 day later, the Camshaft went out! It was in the shop for months! At 72,000 miles on it and 6 years, my engine is SHOT. $7,500 for a new one! The engine went out 2 weeks after my warranty was up! GM refused to do anything about it and I was never offered an extended warranty! So the repairs will be 3/4 what the car is worth! I called GM and explained the situation and the generous jerks said all they would do for me was give me $2,000 toward a new car! I talked to dealership and they explained it wasnt just a GM loyalty bonus, it was all they would give me for my trade in!! So I pay $43,000 for vehicle and 6 years later, its only worth $2,000!! Blue book is $11,000!! All I wanted was to at least get 1/2 of the blue book! However, that was not even considered! We have bought 8 GM vehicles brand new totaling $275,000! My dad retired from GM so I have always been loyal!! Never had any issues with our 4 Avalanches, Montana Van, Camaro, and Cavalier! The Acadia was my favorite (at first). I loved the style and room in it, but Ive seriously been so disappointed by all the issues - engine, camshaft, transmission, no radio or sounds because amp is fried! Front end making awful noises which again, they refused to fix! I will be purchasing another GM (dads discount is too good to turn down) and I hope and pray it will be alright because like I said, this Acadia is the only one weve had trouble with! I hope this helps someone! Make sure if you buy an Acadia to take it in at 36,000 and have a diagnostic run even if you dont notice anything and again before the 100,000 or 5 years!

With so many choices out here in SUVs I shopped for a long time and decided on the 2014 GMC Acadia SLE 2 for many reasons. I began noticing them in 2008 and everyone I spoke with about them seemed very pleased both with their performance and the comfortable ride. It has WI FI and all the whistles and bells but to be honest I dont care a thing about any of that. I care about reliability and efficiency. For a big heavy SUV it gets 27 MPG Highway if youre not a lead foot, and it is truly my dream car. It also has the towing package and can pull a 2 horse trailer loaded, or big boat etc.I purchased it in Dec. 2015 from Eagle Buick GMC in Homosassa, Florida. In the past Ive owned Jeep Cherokees, Nissans and Toyotas. But I just didnt get the comfortable ride or performance this Acadia offers. I also have to be honest. I was disappointed in the 2017 model. GMC has reduced it to be honest to a smaller version and not the ride the 2016s back to 2008 have. The new one looks more like an old souped up GMC Jimmy than an Acadia.

Again it went back 4 min from where it was - overall lost 10 min every time I hit the accessory button. Has anyone else had this issue? Also very uncomfortable drivers seat. Supposed to be top of the line better than other models. When I took an SLE out for comparison that seat was much better. Go figure.

Being a GM family, we have been loyal to the brand but the Acadia falls far
Being a GM family, we have been loyal to the brand but the Acadia falls far short compared to the companys other SUVs. There are 943 Technical Service Bulletins issued for the 2017 Acadia alone! Most of them are related to random leaks, failures with steering, suspension and brakes. As the principal driver, I can attest handling is not as stable as the one-size-down Equinox, although it improved noticeably when we switched to a better tire than what came with the car. Within a few months of purchase, the SUV developed a drive train problem, and it was difficult to find a dealership familiar with the bulletin issued by GM and knew how to resolve it. This is now a known problem, with over 300 registered complaints posted just for this particular repair. Another annoying and known issue: at the gas pump, the baffle in the gas tank causes the fuel pump to shut off after 3 gallons. The solution is to manually hold down the level on the pump, or it will keep shutting off after every 2-3 gallons, even when the tank is nearly empty. And then there are the myriad leaks, detailed in the complaints and TSBs…

My 2013 Acadia has had both Cadillac converters changed. It shows up stations but you cant hear anything on. It will pop off and on every now and then so I just dont know whats wrong with this car. It is scary because the cost is astronomical to repair if this is electrical problems. Also the car had problems with it. Was water running from somewhere onto my feet after a rain, which I know there were other people who complained of this as well. Theres no recall for it but other comments states that it has cause some damage to the electrical wiring. I read this in other reviews, I can not afford this cost, Acadia 2013 owners. But of course with all this going on theres no recalls on any of the issues that I have with this vehicle. How frustrating!!!

From a loyal GM household that has bought 13 new GM vehicles in 25 years, I am fed up and looking for a new manufacturer that cares about their customer. My 2009 GMC Acadia SLT1 has had nothing but problems since the warranty expired. The transmission went out literally on a trip when I rolled past 100,00 miles and stopped for gas. Had it diagnosed at a trusted independent shop and was told I need a new transmission. Called GM Customer Care and elevated the case and was told I was 3-4 months past the 5 year warranty. Needed a GM diagnosis. After 3 days of frustration, I called the service manager at my GMC dealership. He told me this is a known problem on early the year build, wave plate disintegrates causing havoc. Said it would be two weeks before they could look at it since they had several others ahead of me, then another week or two for the repair. GM would only consider helping on the repair after the work is completed and would at best kick in 20-25% based on their experience. Could be as high as $4500. I could not wait and had my independent guy replace the transmission at $3300, a discount of $200.This was soon after I had to replace struts. Then I get a low pressure, stop engine warning. Had it towed and could not find cause or repeat. Now the A/C is out and cause cannot be determined in leak test. Dealer guess is that based on odor coming out of vents, it is likely the evaporator, an estimated $1600 repair. Vehicle has 108,000 miles, is garage kept and well maintained. After this, plus having the timing chain replaced (under warranty) and numerous recalls, I have lost confidence and wanted to trade it in. The dealer low balled the trade offer because of the A/C. I called GM again looking for some sort of loyalty goodwill. In over two weeks, after elevating to a senior customer care rep, all I have gotten is broken promises on call backs, repeated inquiries to repeat my story. Last promise was I would hear back same day or in 24 hours (last week). Nearly a week has passed and I am left assuming they hope I will just go away.Looks like I will be going away....to another OEM. Loyalty built GM, treatment like this and faulty products will continue the decades long slide in market share. I cannot recommended GM to my children or their friends. Who will be their customer of the future? GM makes great big SUVs and Trucks...all else is a roll of the the dice. 25 years and out....later GM. Should be a class action suit on the transmission. AC problem is a common problem, too, I am told. Time to test the New GM, and leaderships claim of new transparency.

In 2007 when the first Acadia came out, I fell in love with it and its body
In 2007 when the first Acadia came out, I fell in love with it and its body style. We bought one and had very few problems, other than normal wear and tear. When we traded it in for a 2012 Terrain, there were 115,000 miles on the Acadia. We should have kept it rather than downsize to the Terrain. The Terrain, was not a problem either, but after having it for 16 months, I decided that I wanted another Acadia, which is what we did a week ago tomorrow. Never having had any major problems with the first Acadia, I thought surely the 2014 would be better, 7 years later. However, I was wrong. The past weekend, my husband and I drove to Louisiana for a funeral. On our ride there, the car ran smooth and no apparent problems were recognized. However, while away, on our way to the grave site the SUV began to shake and jerk, also making loud noises. It felt as if we were on a bucking horse. After about twenty minutes of this, it began to run smoothly again. Later that evening, the jerking began again, just not as long this time. On our way back home after driving possibly the first 75 miles, the jerking began a third time. That time it only lasted for about 10 miles, and did not repeat the action any more. When the jerking began, the Stability Trac signal came on. We had had similar problems with the first Acadia, but that did not begin until we had put 60,000 or more miles on it. This new one, has less than 300 miles on it. My dealership has been gracious in providing us with a loaner. Although the loaner is also a 2014, it is an automobile and not an SUV. Due to the fact that I previously broke my leg and fractured my ankle on the same leg, four years later, as well as having had to have a total knee replacement on that same leg. The Buick that we have been loaned, sits very low, even with being able to raise the seat, Never having gone through this before, I expected to get the same type or a very similar one, to what I have been accustomed to driving. We have not had a chance to get back to the dealership and my salesman, but plan to do so today, to see if they can put us in another SUV. I have also looked online to see if the 2014 Acadia is one of those being recalled, but have not been successful in finding out yet.Overall, my experiences with all three GMC vehicles weve purchased over the last 10 years, have been excellent ones. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone. As a matter of fact, I praised the 07 one to my banker so much, that she went out and bought one two years ago after test driving one of her own. She is still in love with it, and tells me she rarely uses her previous car which she thought she loved before getting an Acadia. Those of you who have had horrible experiences with your Acadia, must be in the minority, because rarely, if ever, have I heard an Acadia owner speak negatively about it. Friends of ours who had an Envoy, recently bought an Acadia after riding in ours. Sorry about your problems, but I would think you are the exception, not the norm.

Central Lock malfunction second day I purchased the brand new car (1st day after purchase, at 5 miles!!!) CV damaged (first year). Middle Seat Closure mechanism broken first six months. Engine mounts are broken (after three years). Air distributor is broken (after four years). Engine bracket is broken (after four years). To add insult the injury the dealer is incompetent, promotes an extended warranty that doesnt extend to anything, and only finds out problems after the expiration of the warranty. It is either GM sells Lemons or off-spec vehicles in Saudi Arabia, or the Saudi Specs are designed for junk cars. Either way, never again. I have advised five of my friends and family members interested in GM cars against buying them.

December 18, 2010. Purchased 2011 GMC Acadia LT-1, Model ACA, for $39,363.1
December 18, 2010. Purchased 2011 GMC Acadia LT-1, Model ACA, for $39,363.19. November 2015 - Received the following notice from GMC: As the owner of a 2011 model year GMC Acadia, your satisfaction with our product is very important to us. This letter is intended to make you aware that, on some 2011 model year GMC Acadia vehicles, the throttle-position sensor may cause the engine to run rough, cause the malfunction-indicator lamp and/or an engine reduced power message to illuminate, and reduce the engine’s power. Do not take your vehicle to your GMC dealer as a result of this letter unless you believe that your vehicle has the condition as described above. General Motors is providing owners with additional protection for the condition described above. If this condition occurs on your 2011 GMC Acadia within 10 years of the date your vehicle was originally placed in service or 120,000 miles, whichever occurs first, the condition will be repaired for you at no charge. Our Acadia did not have the malfunction-indicator lamp and/or an engine reduced power message illuminate but starting in January 2016, the engine did start to run rough.January 2 – January 7, 2016. First Noticed Problems: Our Acadia engine was running very rough – idling, accelerating with unusual RPM’s, not running smoothly, stopped at lights and it felt it was going to die, etc. The Acadia has 60K miles on it. Brought the car to BTR (garage we have used for over 20 years, and 9 cars). BTR replaced four Solenoids, which did not fix the problem. After several more days trying to diagnose the problem, they suggested we have the car towed to a GM dealer that was most convenient, Classic Chevrolet. So we did.January 8 – January 25, 2016. Classic Chevrolet reported that the problem was the Catalytic Converter, and that they would replace it, under warranty. Apparently, this did not fix the problem. After researching this for several days, they were looking at a timing chain. Classic informed us that ‘needed to open the front end to further diagnose it. This was going to cost us $1,600 to open up the engine, and it could cost significantly more depending on what they find.’ Classic then reported they found ‘metal shavings’ in the oil, diagnosed the problem as “Catastrophic Engine Failure” and reported we needed a whole new engine, at a cost of about $7,700, on a 2011 GMC Acadia with 60K miles. Classic stated that since we had not had the Acadia serviced (i.e. oil changes, etc.) at a GM dealer, thus ACDelco oil filters were not used, we would be responsible for 100% of the cost. After we provided receipts for the regular maintenance required for an automobile, Classic stated that GM would pay for 60% of the new engine, and we would be responsible for 40% of the costs. The offer of us paying for 40% of the costs of a new engine is unacceptable. According to our Acadia’s owner’s manual we were not required, nor is it even suggested, to use ACDelco oil filters, and that according to the Federal Trade Commission, i.e. the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, it is against the law for a car manufacturer to mandate a specific brand of car product, unless it is provided at no charge. After we informed Classic of the above mentioned point, Classic Chevrolet stated they wanted to tow the car to a GMC dealership. So, it was towed to GMC Beck & Masten North. This is where the car was purchased in 2010.January 25 – Present. Upon receipt of the car, GMC Beck & Masten North first reported they needed to do their own diagnostic research as no paperwork was sent with the car. Furthermore, they stated the car started up fine, albeit it was running a little rough, but they would get back to us with further details as soon as possible. After over 2 weeks at this dealer, now the 3rd repair shop to be used, the service manager stated that ‘the engine looks good, appears to be well maintained. Our service records were good but he was waiting on GMC to see what kind of assistance they could offer. He also stated the oil looked good, and that he did not see any problem with the filter and/or using after market oil filters.’Finally, Beck & Masten stated the engine needs to be replaced – 5 of the 6 bearings were spun/gone – it would cost approximately $8,000, and that GMC would pay for 50% of the costs and we would be responsible for the other 50%. Again, this is totally unacceptable. Beck & Masten stated they would talk to their regional GMC representative and get back to us. Other notes during this process: This is 2011 GMC Acadia – purchased on December 18, 2010 – it has 60K miles on it – the problems started 5 years and 15 days after it was purchased. It is not stated in the owner’s manual what brand, or what specs are required, in an oil filter. We have serviced this car regularly since the date it was purchased – have provided all receipts to date. We have spoken to GMC Customer Service, (1-800-462-8782), during this whole process. We have been told to be patient 63 times. Industrial Distributors, supplier of the oil filters to BTR, called Classic Chevrolet, the dealer who originally stated the after-market oil filters were faulty, in attempt to investigate the filter scenario in more detail. Classic never returned phone call. General Manager of Classic Chevrolet, commented that he ‘had a hard time believing that after-market oil filters would cause catastrophic engine failure.’ We have been told “I understand your frustration”, 47 times. Beck& Masten, stated there could be two reasons that this many bearings in an engine would fail. 1. There was water in the engine, i.e. car drove through high water. However, they stated there was no evidence this ever occurred (which we also attested to), or 2. There was poor lubrication in the engine due to lack of oil. We have provided all receipts affirming the Acadia was serviced at regular intervals. We have further reported that at no time was there an indication that oil was low in the Acadia. Therefore, if poor lubrication did occur, any warning indicators in the Acadia did not work properly. The engine in the Acadia is a 3.6 LLT, is a Direct Injection Engine. This feature causes extremely rapid degradation/failure of the oil between changes, resulting in rapid degradation of cam gears, timing chains and premature failure of crank bearings. It is our understanding GM stopped using this engine in the Cadillacs, LaCrosses and Camaros. General Manager of GMC Beck & Masten, stated, unsolicited, that his recommendation for the future, whether it is a GM product or not, to have cars serviced only at a dealer, because it ‘carries more weight.” Commentary: Kind of interesting how a GM would suggest building your war chest for a potential fight with the manufacturer. Is GM building cars anticipating situations like this to happen on a regular occurrence? Several times, we asked Classic Chevrolet, GMC Customer Service and GMC Beck & Masten North for their diagnoses in writing. As of this date, nothing has been provided. Not once, have we seen any evidence that GM, GMC, Classic Chevrolet, and GMC Beck & Masten North, are working together to resolve this issue. Commentary: seems to be a Catastrophic Communication Failure for a Catastrophic Engine Failure! GMC, GM, GMC Beck & Masten, not to mention numerous auto mechanics we have talked to, all question, “Why was the car transferred from one GM dealer to another GM dealer?” BTR – it was explained to us that a catastrophic engine failure is a term used to describe a complete failure of the engine. 5 out 6 bearings spun would mean completely knock out the engine. If a bearing fails, you hear a “knock” or a “ping”, usually one fails at a time. If there were 5 bearings failed it had to be an instantaneous loss of oil and a catastrophic failure. If the engine ran on January 8th to check the catalytic converter, when did this catastrophic failure occur? On Jan 26th, after going to Beck & Masten, the engine started up but ran hard with knocks. I was under the impression with 5 bearings failed the engine shouldn’t even start. Beck & Masten sent this to us a little while ago: When we disassembled your vehicle, we found 5 spun rod bearings and scored cylinder walls. The engine (inside) was not dirty and the oil was clean. The oil looked to have been changed recently. Cause of failure is unknown. It will be necessary to replace engine to complete this repair. Commentary: Kind of sounds like a faulty engine to me!

I purchased a GMC 2007 Acadia new. It has a squeaky steering wheel, has had a/c blower replaced four times, leaks into master cylinder, suspension problems, coolant system problems and constant headaches over drain tubes in sunroof clogging and leaking water into drivers compartment causing carpet having to be pulled up and dried. The sunroof issue was under warranty and first dealer wasnt going to do anything until I contacted GM. Their solution was to blow out drain tubes every oil change. It clogs quickly so I am running back to dealer and got sick of it and sealed sunroof off. All other problems after the warranty, from 2 months out and on. No more. GM. Poor quality engineering.

Purchased 2009 GMC Acadia with 50k miles in 2012. Has been in for numerous recalls and repairs since 2nd day after purchase. 3 times to dealership for leaking fuel which was from fuel injectors and faulty o-ring that led to cabin filling with dangerous gas fumes, 3 times to shop for ignition coil replacement where dealership ignored the ECM technical bulletin. Replaced #3 coil 3 times (it was literally melted), 1 failed actuator, 1 engine rebuild when dealership failed to identify actuator as issue, actuator replacement, complete power steering failure after it was simply serviced due to recall limitations. 6 tows in all. And it is now in shop for ECM and you guessed it. Ignition coils/spark plugs. How much did GM help? They offered $1500 towards new car purchase. Not even close to repair costs. How knowledgeable was dealership service department? HORRIBLE. Did not identify correct issues, upsold repairs, ignored technical bulletins, and wiggled out of recall replacement of power steering. My warranty that I purchased covered some costs but even with warranty and extended service plan, I have paid out over $6k in a 2.5 yr period plus been on side of road more times than I can count. Cannot trade in due to very little market value. Stuck with worthless car that is costing a fortune. It was obviously a lemon and GM needs to acknowledge that and extend bumper to bumper coverage or buy out consumers. At this point I am surprised that I have not caught fire, blown up, or wrecked when power steering failed. This is a dangerous vehicle and people should stay away from it. I have over 20 service tickets.

This is to update my review published 4/14/15 with great resolution. Thanks to General Motors recall on the Acadia Wave Plate issue I submitted a claim and after a few weeks with some negotiation I got a settlement last week that covered the cost incurred from having to replace the transmission.Thank You GM for the prompt response in my claim! This restores faith in your commitment to quality. I am very happy presently with this recall solution. I may soon be in the market for another vehicle and will again check with GM for possibly another purchase. I know there is still room to improve overall quality and reliability of products so I am changing my rating from 2 stars to 4.Regards, LB

I am a GMC 2008 Acadia owner. I have seen many forums related to the above subject. I am in a very similar situation. I have heard the whine or moan type noise when I would turn the steering wheel. I took my Acadia in the GMC dealer in Merced, CA. They quoted me an outrageous amount of $1,800.00+ to have it fixed. It is out of warranty and I did not have the funds to pay for the work/parts. Now my A/C has went out. I took it in to a local radiator shop and they informed me it was caused by the power steering line making contact with the A/C line and has caused a hole in it. The part for the A/C line is over $700.00. I am at a loss here and have nowhere else to turn to for help on this vehicle. As it stands now, I am currently out of an A/C that was caused by the power steering line. As I understand by reviewing many forums, this is a known issue that many of GMC Acadias have had. Desperately seeking assistance on this from GMC.

Our GMC Acadia has been a lemon from shortly after we paid over $45000 for it new in 2008. The DVD/navigation went out first and two refurbished dealer units later, it still does not work to this day. Then we had the recall for the sunroof drains. Whatever the dealership did, it did NOT stop the water from pouring out of your headliner lamp in the rear. The rear window wiper will not shut off for days if you accidentally turn it on. Next we had the rear window fluid reservoir heater recall. That involved the dealer unplugging it to prevent a fire hazard. Next was the leak in the air conditioning condenser. After three consecutive annual recharge fees ($160 plus each), we hope the one the dealer installed will work next summer. The latest fun involves a dead battery. We replaced it with a new one just to find out it died in just a few hours. Trip to a dealer this morning revealed the dead battery was because of extensive water corrosion to the interior fuse panel. The source of the water is from the first recall issue of the water leaks from the sunroof drain tube defects. The dealer said we should fix the sunroof drain prior to putting the new fuse panel in or the problem will just repeat. Additionally the tech stated we should pay them to clean out the drain tubes on an annual basis just to avoid more electrical damage from water. To top things, the tech also advised us the drivers side axle was shot and that the repairs would total over $1500. We still own 4 GM cars and have been faithful for 35 years. In fact, our next purchase was going to be a Cadillac CTS, but after today we are done with GM. Count me in for a class action suit regarding the Acadia, there are several more issue but I have said enough for now.

I purchased a 2012 GMC Acadia from the used vehicle department of Cole McNatt GMC in Gainesville, Texas. Shortly after purchase of the Vehicle, I noticed that the Vehicle began shaking while shifting. This led me to believe that there was an issue with the Vehicle’s transmission, which was confirmed by my mechanic.Below is a timeline of my correspondence with GM: Initial call to GM on 11/20. Case number given #**. Spoke to representative and told him there was a transmission issue diagnosed by my mechanic. Watson Transmission in Denison, TX that could potentially be covered under warranty. GM Representative indicated that there could be coverage assistance if issue was similar to Wave Plate and recall transmission for similar model vehicles. GM Representative also indicated that GM would likely provide financial assistance due to the fact that the vehicle was under the mileage limit for warranty coverage (despite being a few months out of the time limit). Was advised by Representative to bring vehicle into a GMC dealership.11/21 brought vehicle to my local GM dealership, Parkway Buick GMC in Sherman, Texas. A week later I was told the vehicle transmission would need to inspected in order to identify issue to submit to GM for coverage. I was informed that the charge to disassemble and diagnose the issue, $1,000, would be my responsibility until coverage was determined; the dealership. Based on the statement from the GM Representative that GM would likely provide financial assistance, I decided to proceed. 12/6 Dealership indicated the transmission would need to be replaced and GM had denied warranty claim. I contacted GM and was told the claim was denied but a new ticket number was given to escalate to Senior Analyst. Senior Analyst determined no coverage.Parkway Buick GMC gave me the option of paying to have the Vehicle put back together (in addition to the $1,000 we had to pay to take it apart) or replacing the transmission altogether. As it did not seem prudent (financially or practically) to reassemble the Vehicle with a known transmission issue, I elected to have Parkway Buick GMC replace the transmission (at a cost of nearly $5,000). Had I not been encouraged by the GM Representative that assistance would be provided, I would not have proceeded, at that time, with the initial disassembly and inspection, as my family was not prepared for the financial burden of transmission replacement. After researching this specific problem, I have learned that this is a common issue with the Acadia model vehicle. I believe that the failure of the Vehicle’s transmission was a manufacturing flaw. And, considering that the Vehicle was just a few months out of warranty but under the warranty mileage limit at the time the issue was discovered, I appealed, asking that GM cover in full or share with me the cost of this repair. My appeal was denied.GM’s reputation and marketing emphasize its vehicles’ durability, reliability, and safety and care for customer satisfaction. I have many family and friends that have owned GM vehicles and, before this incident, I had no reason to believe that the company would deny coverage for repair of an issue with one of its vehicles. I was, honestly, very surprised that GM not only denied my claim but also declined to offer assistance with the $1,000 charge for diagnosis, a step that was taken at the suggestion of one of its dealerships. Especially considering that I had been told by the GM representative that there would likely be assistance.I anticipate that in a few years, I will need to upgrade to newer vehicle, but now I hesitate to ever purchase another GM vehicle. I am GM’s target customer, the father of a young family that is growing and will have a need for multiple safe and dependable vehicles for years to come. GM did not stand behind its product and cover the cost of this repair.

I purchased a 2007 GMC Acadia in 2006 brand new. When I had about 38,000 miles on it I would hear a clunk when I would turn left or right took it to the dealership several times. They could not hear it. I finally gave up on it. Then my transmission went out & I called the attorney general after paying about 4000 dollars to get it fixed. Two weeks after I called them I received a letter in the mail and they had a recall & I got my money back. Now the rack & pinion had to be replace. Im very upset as I when on the internet And found out that several other people have had the same problem. If anyone still has a Acadia please call this number as this is a safety issue that should be address for our safety and our childrens safety. The # is 888-327-4236. It cost me 1400 dollars for the rack & pinion to be replaced when I feel that they could have the solved the problem if they would have just check underneath the car. I now know that is why it would always clunk.

I purchased a new 2012 gmc acadia, in September 2012. Right the first month
I purchased a new 2012 gmc acadia, in September 2012. Right the first months I had to take it back for 2 issues noticed then: sound/noise heard during cold start and both of the rear interior panels were scuffed. After phone calls and many attempts, these issues were in a way fixed but had to lower my standards. Then, right my very first year of use, the major issues began. The AC (first summer is when I noticed) did not work properly, I live in Vegas with triple digit temperatures during summer, and the ac did not work. Also, the motor started to leak oil. These are the major 2 issues I have had since my first year of owning this LEMON! every year, I have to take it in for the same issues.Just recently called GMC and asked them if they were going to stand behind their product, that they have evidence this vehicle is a LEMON, same issues for the last 4 years in a row now. To not surprise, they are not. They treated me like an idiot, and of course to no surprise, there is nothing they can do for me. Except, oh yeah, they can HELP me with a TRADE!!! It has been weeks waiting for them to call me with a status on my complaint with GMC, and then they had the nerve to call me and advised me of this. This is worse than an insult. Please, do NOT buy ANY GMC, vehicles are expensive as if youre getting the best quality but they are robbing peoples money, please be smart, think what you are buying, do your homework. You can see thousand of complaints just like mine, GMC does not manufacture/sell reliable products/vehicles. They just sell to make money without thinking of what they are selling. Just thinking of sales/numbers for themselves. While we are here making a complaint or reading about it, CEOs are in a gateway with our monies!!! Any advise would be helpful, if youve been in a situation like mine, please tell me how did you handle the outcome. Or if we all together can do something to stop these big companies STEALING our money and making us go through all of these things and inconveniences!! ENOUGH!!! THANK you.

I have owned more than 10 vehicles in my lifetime and the last seven have been new from dealer. This Acadia is the worst vehicle I have owned, new or old. Just over 30,000 it was burning oil excessively and the dealership could not figure it out. Numerous times at shop and still no fix. By the time we got to 70,000 GM had to re-ring the engine and replace the major of other sensors and components. I have probably spent over $3,000 in additional costs that were not covered by the GM Warranty or the GM extended warranty we purchased when buying the Acadia. Its Amazing how convenient it was that every problem we had was not covered by the extended warranty. Regardless the engine is a problem GM cannot figure it out. Google GM Acadia engine problems and you will have hours of reading in front of you. All with a common theme, the engine is a complete piece of garbage that you will be lucky to get 100,000 out of... Most of them seize around 50,000 to 70,000 and GM will NOT cover the repair under warranty. They simply will not take ownership to this problem so do yourself a favor and avoid this headache completely. This is my 4th GMC and without a doubt my last. I will never buy another GM Product for rest of my life which hurts me to write because I have 3 kids I have been preaching Buy American to all their lives. Now that my wife and I are buying the kids the first cars, it will greatly reduce the dealerships we have to look at. I have to clarify that the reason I will never buy a GM product again has very little to do with the Acadia I own. It has to do with the entire fleet and the fact that GM knows its an inherent problem with this Engine but wont take ownership. My engine that has been burning engine since 30,000 needs new heads and valves due to wear from lack of oil, a problem I pointed out in the first 2 years. GM does not think its their problem and they offered me $3000 towards a new car. My car is 4 years old and they want me to trash it. If that is GM customer loyalty, then I need to find a new manufacturer of automobiles. Save yourself the countless trips to the service dept because this vehicle is a problem child that burns oil and your hard earned dollars.

Within a few weeks of purchasing my new 2012 GMC Acadia Denali the car went into the shop for 6 weeks while they tried to diagnose a transmission problem with GMs help. Since making the repair the engine continues to surge to 4000 RPMs from time to time under certain driving conditions as the transmission struggles to keep up. Problems with the car also includes numerous recalls, driver seat coming loose, and the front AC evaporator unit failed. After the GM warranty expired and weeks after replacing the front AC evaporator unit the rear AC evaporator and power steering failed. I can no longer afford the car and I believe that GMs product quality became poor after the GM bankruptcy and when GM became known as Government Motors.

Bought a new 2014 Acadia Denali - almost $60K. After 8 months, the driver’s seat started making a Clicking noise when I shifted my weight slightly. It was loud and often enough that passengers asked what that noise was. Called the dealer I bought it from, but they were booked up for a week. Took it to another dealer and explained the problem. He said it was the seat tracks and that it was a very common complaint. He could replace the tracks, but that I would be back in three months with the same complaint. Since it was a warranty issue, I told him to order several sets because I would expect them to be replaced. He told me that he would only replace them once, and that I should go back to the dealer that I bought the truck from as he was not about to use up his warranty allocation on me. GM does everything in their power to sell you a vehicle. However, they fall short on support and service. After owning 3 GM vehicles in the past, this will be my last GM product.

My car referenced below is currently dead since 12/15/2011. Diagnosis showed 3 cylinders compression pressure out of 6 is 0. Then they found that the engine is sludge.I brought the car to GMC for inspection on 9/28/2011. The car warranty expired on 9/17/2011. I have 3 questions: 1) Should the inspection procedure detect that there is a problem prior to the collapse of the motor? The car did run for almost 3000 kilometers post the inspection and prior to motor death. 2) Shouldnt GMC still fix this car and consider it still within the warranty? This is because (a) the car was inspected within 10 days of the warranty. The GMC dealer in Lebanon could not take it sooner. GMC dealer told me that they would still consider it under warranty. Also, (b) I really believe that the inspections done by the GMC dealer in Lebanon should have detected it. I cannot imagine the problem if done properly and diligently. I cannot imagine a great company such as GMC would have a bad diagnostic program. And (c) regardless of warranty, how can Acadia die after 30,600 kilometers (less than 20,000 miles), and GMC corporate people in the USA are not all over this lemon car?I would think that the GMC engineering community would be extremely interested in this case and want to learn all about it and come out with a very conclusive conclusion. Instead, the company is allowing a bunch of crooks and bad business/service personnel operate this GMC dealership. It is such organizations that create bad reputations for their mother company, because they put maximized profitability in front of quality and customer care.3) What can cause the death of the Acadia car within 20,000 miles? I brought the car for inspections and oil changes at 11530 kilometers and 27,651 kilometers. Please look into this and take a disciplinary action against your Lebanese GMC dealership and force them to fix the car asap. I expect great companies to act in an honorable way and to keep their customers happy and keep their reputation sky high. Please let me know, I am anxiously waiting,

We purchased a 2008 Acadia almost 2 years ago and just recently had a problem with electrical issues. No longer under warranty, we took it to our mechanic and found the electrical box behind the glove compartment was full of water. He dried it out and wrapped it up. It ran fine for a week, then the battery mysteriously had a parasitic drain and would not start. Took it back to him and today he found the tubing that houses the electrical in the drivers door full of water. After reading reviews, Im sure a dealer will do nothing but take my money and not fix the problem. This is a design flaw and apparently GM is not stepping up to the plate to fix it. Funny that after almost 2 years the problem starts. We have loved our Acadia up until this point. We have a 2,000 mile trip planned, now what? Im certainly not very happy and not sure what recourse there is. Can a class action suit be filed or has one already been filed?

We bought our 2012 GMC Acadia brand new in 2012. Fast forward to now 2015..
We bought our 2012 GMC Acadia brand new in 2012. Fast forward to now 2015....and a stack of paperwork connected to all of the recalls and repairs that we have had on this crap SUV. I have come to know the service manager at the GMC dealership on a first name basis. Our troubles began with the numerous recalls on airbags. Each time they had it in the shop for a recall they found more issues that needed to be replaced/fixed. For example on a routine oil change they found that the oil was spewing all over the engine drive shaft so they replaced the seal to that. I am not sitting in front of all of my paperwork right now as it is in the glove box of our Acadia that now sits at the dealership getting more extensive repairs done on it. Last week I was getting in my car to take my son to practice and noticed a loud weeeeeering sound when I started the car. It would get louder upon my accelerating. I called the GM dealership to tell them of the sound and they said I can bring it in to the dealership in the morning. So we drop it off to let them diagnose the issue. We leave in one of their rental cars only to get a phone call an hour later telling us that they found the car to not register that it had any power steering fluid. Upon further investigation they see that the pump/seal burst causing some axle now to need to be replaced and the power steering pump needed replaced as well. All for a whopping 1800.00! The service manager said he spoke to GM and they agreed to cover 75% of the costs for this. Weird but ok. Then on the day we are suppose to go pick up the Acadia they call us to tell us the truck is still making the weeeeering sound and so they looked further and now the alternator needs replaced too! Are you freaking kidding me!????? This car has 49,000 miles on it! It is kept in a garage all day/night. The oil is changed regularly. WTH! We drive this car to basically run kids around town. Thats it! I am NEVER in my life going to buy another GM vehicle! I will forever be loyal to my Hondas!!!!! GM your Acadia should be taken off the floor and revamped completely! We are a family who bought a brand new vehicle so we could have piece of mind and not worry about if our SUV would break down and nickel and dime us. We will trade this car off ASAP and never look back (unless a class action law suit comes to surface). We would happily join in on any lawsuit going on if there is one. In fact we may contact one anyway to see what our options might be.

At 60,600 miles, just out of warranty, my coil failed. Now at 67000 the catalytic converter has failed. None of this should be happening in a well designed engine but we are told it is the cooling that causes this. Our mechanic said the carbon build up is extraordinary and to get rid of the car. I have 3 other friends who have 09/10 Acadias, and are all seeing similar issues (2 have coils fail). So its just a bad design. Shame, it was a pretty car and would have kept it for the long haul if it wasnt so poorly designed.

I bought this GMC Acadia in August of 2008. Brand new. I followed all scheduled maintenance recommendations set by GMC. At 78,000 miles while driving down the interstate, a hole blows in the side of the transmission stranding my wife and two young sons 3 hours from home. Naturally the factory warranty is up. BUT, I told my wife, This is why you buy from a company such as GMC, they will stand by their product, and help us pay for it. WRONG! GMC totally turned their backs on us! GMC customer service told me twice there is nothing they will do. They did tell me if I had taken it to a GMC dealer theyd look at it. Really? I cant drive it! Its at a private mechanic. What pay to have it towed again to a dealership so they can tell me they wont help me again then over charge me to fix it and make more money off me that I dont have??? NO WAY! The funny thing is, Ive read reviews of tons of people having this exact same problem with GMC and this Acadia transmission problem. Wake up GMC! I say this because not a couple months ago, I told my wife wed buy her a new Tahoe in July of 2016. NOT NOW! Im totally disgusted that a big company such as GMC, has no problem squeezing the little people of America!

We bought this Acadia 2 years ago, first we werent shown the Carfax. No signed copy in contract, 2nd dealership wont honor extended warranty. But anyway we have had CV joints replaced, motors in both windows, ignition locks in start position. So it constantly starting, back hatch bangs and jumps like its falling off, oh and the transmission had to be replaced to the tune of $7,000. Warranty but still put out $400 deductible. But we had to go to another GMC dealership for acknowledgment of issue. Purchase dealer told us nothing wrong, after the 5Th visit. They said, Well if you put 4 or more people in it and go on a 30 degree grade that thats how it runs. Then why would I buy a 7 passenger 3 row seating SUV? Oh and also the brackets that hold down the seating are rusted. They said that is normal wear? And now today when I pull out its driving like theres a flat tire. But no flat.

My wife and I bought a 2011 Acadia with like 6 miles on it new. From the start my wife stated (its her vehicle technically) that it was making a wamp sounding sound from the front passenger wheel after 30mph, I figured it might have been the treads making that sound, at 85k now the original tires still on are worn from the inside out. Then the check engine light came on early at like 25k. I thought I was gonna escape the Acadia curse but then the TV stopped working and the radio quit working for about 4 hours unexpectedly, and somehow fixed itself. Now I have been seen once by the dealer for the seatbelt recall, the corrosion on the plug under the seat recall, and they looked for sign of water pump leak recall. Well guess what, at 75k supposedly no sign of water pump seal but now at 85k I get home and see a small red puddle under the truck, you guessed it after looking for leak looks to me to be a water pump leak with small aluminum shards of metal in the coolant reservoir. As I have a scheduled appointment with dealer 03/20/15, for new tires, recall repair and alignment. I will have them re look at it and I swear if I hear I have to pay for the water pump, my head will spin like the exorcist and be calling my lawyer. I had a 2002 Pontiac grand am gt that I had nothing but problems with since day one, long story short ended up with an arbitrator through the BBB and got reimbursed for work that was not covered under warranty. My wife advised me if this truck became a problem like my Pontiac, she and I would never buy GM again. Fingers crossed for Thursday as this vehicle was designed to carry my 3 year old and now 5 month old children in and so far I feel like GM is really putting up a middle finger to loyal customers and letting down new ones.

Bought 2011 GMC Acadia in July of 2010 for my wife. Check engine light came on at 35,000 miles. Dealer says needs timing chains and guides replaced. Going to cost 2,900 dollars. Will cost me 55 percent and GM will pay 45 percent. This should never happen at this mileage. GM knows they have a problem with this motor seeing they have a revised chain and guides. Don’t understand why there is not a recall or class action lawsuit for this problem seeing when you Google this problem you see it is very prevalent. Will not be buying any more gm vehicles anymore. And you should think twice before you buy one.

I recently purchased a used 2008 GMC Acadia after scouring a trusted dealerships lot for a new SUV. I immediately fell in love with the features and look for the Acadia and signed my hard earned money away on the dotted line. Less than two months in, I now realize that this was the worst decision of my life. It drove smooth at first but I began to notice some transmission issues when accelerating. It wasnt noticeable enough to be a major deal as I am used to some lag in acceleration when driving heavier SUVs (I traded in a Toyota Sequoia). Now just one week after making my first payment my check engine light is as bright as day. As I scroll these reviews and look online for anger management counselors to keep me from flipping out at my local dealership and on the phone with GMC I am preparing a strategy to get rid of this vehicle especially now that I see all of the negative feedback. Thanks for all that have posted their experiences, I will never ever buy American or GMC again, back to foreign.

Our SUV sounds like mine. Electronic motherboard went out six months in, water pump, eleven months in, intermittent whirring sound (which I was told repeatedly it was a design flaw then once that I needed an oil change). In addition the air conditioner gradually loss cooling then discovered leak in a hose to condenser. Now power steering completely gone and so is air. Of course they are able to find problems now that its all out of warranty. GMC national is no help. They lie and cover up all problems. Think of it as the VA of the auto world.

Leased a 2014 Acadia at the end of September of 2013 from Circle GMC in Highland, IN. Since that time we have experienced repeated issues with the fuel gauge dropping to completely empty, while much more gas is in the tank. Have taken it in for service 7 times already and have spent numerous more times talking with them and calling Corporate GMC. They have tried reprogramming a couple times, checking a float in the tank, replacing a cluster, etc. They tell me nobody else has this issue, and the loaners I have had have not had this issue. Their end-solution was for me to always keep half a tank of gas in the vehicle. Theres a solution for you. Now when the tank is nearly full, it shows over full. Salesman tells me, Hey, I dont make em, I just sell em.

I first saw the 2008 Red Jewel Tint Coat GMC Acadia at my local county fair
I first saw the 2008 Red Jewel Tint Coat GMC Acadia at my local county fair in September 2007. I sat in the drivers seat and said, One day Ill own one. On November 7, 2007, I drove home the PROUD owner of a beautiful American product. I couldnt wait to show it off and brag about the Crossover I called my own. Talk about love of a vehicle... this was it. I found it inconvenient that only certain dealerships were even certified to work on my baby, unless it was the dealer I bought it from, they could work on it (but really? If it takes someone especially certified, I dont want to take it to the dealer I bought it from if they arent certified) plus, Id have to say that this is the first vehicle Ive ever heard of that requires a special certification to service the vehicle to keep the warranty intact. I faithfully maintained it and did everything I was told needed to be done (granted things like changing air filters, I did myself for the cost of the part vs. the cost of the part + $100 to have it done). The front-end of the transmission was rebuilt at 44,000 miles. Water pump required replacement, there were a couple recalls (minor), and an enormous issue with the A/C system (which eventually got fixed). Now, I must say GM took care of all of these problems, without issue. Kudos, it sounds like I may be the only one. Oh, and the driver side door seal leaks, so my seat gets wet when it rains (never fixed it as it was past the bumper-to-bumper warranty when it started and couldnt afford to repair it with the already near $600/month payment). However, I am now at 126,334 miles on the odometer and my love is near lost. I paid it off last spring and am now having several repairs, which would be VERY costly to have the dealership fix. In most recent weeks, I have replaced the spark plugs (as a general tune up and PM due at 100,000 miles), immediately had check engine light on and flashing-vehicle began running very rough, idling up and down, and near chugging at times. ONstar reported multiple engine misfires and spit out the following codes: P03000, P0174, P0171. Now along with that, the traction control began intermittently turning itself off (which I know it does when the check engine light is on or when it senses something off). Upon researching these codes we decided the best action would be to replace the problem coils.... P0174 and P0171 cited lean fuel conditions in the respective cylinders and after reading all the reviews, I decided to replace all coils. Ok new spark plugs and new coils... should run great. Unhooked the battery to clear the codes and CEL. Still having the same problems except now the CEL isnt coming on. Next thought, replace the fuel pump. It could be the problem, I did after all have the trouble with -40 wind chills that it wouldnt even kick on so that I could start the vehicle. 2 days later it started working again (thought a fluke, maybe a short or a loose wire), havent had any further problems until this now..... Overall, I like the Acadia, but am really beginning to become discouraged. I keep thinking, I get this fixed and the exhaust replaced (which just rusted through in a small area) and everything will be good to go, but what happens when the timing chain needs replaced (thats a high bill) the cover has already been leaking forever and the dealership never bothered to enlighten me on that. Power steering fluid is leaking out like its in a sieve - made sure everything is tight and now am running Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak in it to try to keep fluid in it as long as possible and hopefully prevent failure and required replacement of the pump or worse yet, the rack-and-pinion. I can see where it might get really costly (more than it is right now) to continue to drive this vehicle. I do have to say I havent driven the Acadia in near 3 weeks as Im afraid it will leave me stranded. Its a shame that GM quit making the 3.8 (3800). I had multiple vehicles with that motor and never had to do anything to them other than change the oil, sparks plugs, air/oil filters, and 1 alternator. Bring back the proven equipment and ditch the new garbage. Thankfully, last spring I bought a KIA Optima for my primary transportation to and from work. It is getting me everywhere I need to go since the Acadia is down, sucks though - I got stuck in the snow because the snow was simply too deep and the tires wouldnt touch the ground any longer. Wish I had the Acadia to drive in the snow, it is after all a record breaking winter!

We bought a used 2007 Acadia, I love it. I needed the roomy SUV. I have twin granddaughters, 2 yrs old, that I watch while their parents work. I also take my 80-yr-old parents where they need to go, so I needed the room. My Acadias AC quit!! I didnt need that. I took it to the dealer where I bought it, they said my ac line had rubbed against a bracket and had a hole in it. OK, I thought it couldnt cost that much to replace a line, Wrong!!!! The line is in behind the motor, against the firewall of the SUV and that they would have to pull the motor to get to it!!! COST: estimate is over $1500!!! I cant afford that. I retired the day before from driving a school bus, no way can I afford that. The next day I took it back to the dealership to trade it in. I gave $14,500 for my SUV just 5 mo ago, so I thought I had paid enough on it to at least get pay off, Not!! They offered me $9,600 for it because they would have to fix AC!!! So far, I havent fixed the AC, I will have to rent a vehicle to take my parents on vacation in Sept. This is just crazy. If anyone else has had this problem, please let me know if there is a better solution to this problem.

Well another big repair needed for my 2010 GMC Acadia. First I had problems with the steering column. Then the core evaporator had to be replaced. Both were major repairs. GMC Paul Sur paid for most of it after I went on their website and complained. Now I need a TMC module and seal replaced. Need throttle service and fuel injector. Total cost parts and labor $1600! Called to get a breakdown for parts $734 and labor $509. Throttle clean $124.95, fuel induction service 139.95. Funny how I took my car in a year ago with the same problem. It was still under warranty. But they said that the codes did not show up at that time. Now its not under warranty and the codes showed up. Really? This is the third major problem Ive had with this car.

GMC dealership changed rack, rear shocks and numerous alignments. Tire treads wore out from the outside in. They couldnt figure it out. Local mechanic took rear struts out and bushing fell out. I purchased a 2011 GMC Acadia with 25,000 miles. I never missed an oil change and updated within 3 years of purchase. The gas pedal became very stiff, causing the car to quickly accelerate. Need to be replaced. The fuel sensor broke and needed to be replaced. The driver side air modulators broke causing hot air to blow. Needed to be replaced. The driver side window control panel broke and needed to be replaced. The hood support rod broke. The radiator broke and needed to be replaced. The radio broke and need to be replaced. The air conditioning blows hot and needs to be replaced. The engine mounts all broke and needed to be replaced. The engine is now dying and was recommended by my mechanic to get rid of the car. He says I need a new engine. I still have a $7000 balance left on the car and it is worthless.

2009 Acadia bought brand new in 09 has turned into a lemon :( I have helped 2 friends buy an Acadia. I have been nearly a spokesperson for the Acadia and now, another major repair is necessary. We have 95k miles on it and the transmission just went out. I am only 4 months past our 5 year warranty (mind you the dealership in which we purchased the Acadia has a LIFETIME power train warranty...but GMC wont honor that because the dealership went out of business). I filed a case with GMC. They contacted the dealership that has our car and have only offered us a discount on refurbishing our transmission... What?! I dont want to refurbish this bad one, I need a new transmission. I did not accept their terms and our car is still sitting at the dealership (its been a week already) and we pray they change their mind and offer us a better deal tomorrow. :(

She finally stopped when the car hit the Walmart store outer wall. My daughter was in the car with her at the time and witnessed the entire incident just as described above. This was a $5200. We bought a 2009 Acadia in summer of 08. This spring of 2014 at 54,000ish miles we started having issues. Because of the catalytic converter and engine design, buildup from the fuel caused the cat to go and burned up a couple of coils on the engine. We also have a steering wheel issue. The mechanism could go at any time. We keep losing oil on that because of a broken gasket. Because of the way its designed instead of just replacing that one small part we have to replace the whole thing, $1100. Luckily the dealership did us a good turn and replaced the cat for free even though it was not warrantied and paid for our car to be towed since it could not be driven there. We paid for labor and other maintenance replacements. Between the two car repairs we spent about $1400.I didnt leave feeling very confident that this wouldnt happen again. I was told to only put Chevron gas in the car, mid grade or higher. I would even go so far as to put fuel cleaner (highest quality they make) in with a new tank of gas for extra insurance now and then. I would also recommend before 30,000 miles or before 60,000 miles, that you get your transmission flushed. They have a program that will give you $2000 or $1000 towards a new transmission should it go out if you are good about maintaining your vehicle. Its like a maintenance reward program. The dealership repair guys were great. Although I am very disappointed in a $40,000 vehicle that would cost us this much before 60,000 miles. We never had these troubles with our Subaru or Nissan. Our car still doesnt run great and we still need to put more money for repairs into it. If GMC would put more effort into improving their mechanical end, their products would be awesome. I wont buy another GMC though. Just not worth it for all the repair costs and hassle involved in breakdowns.

When is GMC going to admit that they threw quality out the window when they built this vehicle. Recalls are done only when its life and death. Right from the start, my headlight harnesses melted. Thousands of similar complaints online but no recall yet. Steering column, timing chain and the list goes on. Now for the shocker. I took my Acadia to the dealer because I received a Special Coverage Program 14582. My vehicle ran rough and the check engine light was on. That is exactly what the Notice described. I also asked the dealer to inspect the front end and steering because there was an outstanding power steering pump recall. After a few hours, the dealer called me back with the news.As per the email, my 2009 GMC Acadia with 150,000 km needed: replacement of catalytic converter bank2 $722.10, replacement of pre-CAT/post cal oxygen sensors $451.41, fuel system servicing recommended $169.95, replacement of spark plugs $295.40, evap purge solenoid $124.32, replace both front struts $952.86, replace both rear shocks $456.00, replace one broken engine mount $248.42, replace water pump $513.50, perform four wheel alignment $129.95, replace rack and pinion assembly $1,583.24, replace right front lower control arm bushing(s) $416.05, replace left front lower control arm bushing(s) $416.05, replace left rear upper control arm $541.12, replace right rear upper control arm $541.12, plus three separate @120.00. Diagnose charges for the check engine light, an oil leak and steering and suspension came to over $9,000.00.Sorry for the long-winded story. I only accepted the repairs that I thought were important. It came out to just over $2,000.00 and the Acadia seems perfect now. Moral of the story is that dealership service areas will attempt to build you a new car if you let them. I think they wanted me to give up on this SUV and head straight for their showroom.

Apparently the wave plate in the transmission of these cars, as well as some other GMC autos, is defective. My transmission started flaring when it was trying to shift from 1st to 2nd, and again from second to third. It also whined noticeably when I was stopped. I had to replace it with a re-manufactured transmission. I had 110,000 miles on it so it was out of warranty. GM reduced the price by 20% but it still cost me about $3600. Many people are experiencing this problem and many are under 100,000 miles. I feel that GMC should have a fix for this issue. A recall would be the right thing to do. So do it.

We bought a used 2009 GMC Acadia from a private owner less than a year ago and weve already dumped $6000 into it. The transmission is the main & most recent thing to be replaced. My transmission went out at 130K. I lost 3rd gear 4th gear and reverse and had my 2 kids under age 2 in the car with me. Weve had the new transmission in for about a month and already its missing and jerking as it shifts. There is also a continual issue with acceleration while turning left, it sound like metal vibrating together or clattering in the engine that gets increasingly louder as you accelerate and the power seems to bog down at the same time. Seems every time I take it to the shop they replace this or that (I cant remember the long list of specific things) and it drives fine for a few weeks and then these same problems start happening again. Im taking it to a GM dealership next week - hoping they can do a better job of pinpointing the issues than our local mechanic. At this point I want to get rid of it but we just put in the new transmission, my husband thinks we need to keep it forever but Im certain its nothing but an expensive headache. I love the cosmetic features of this vehicle and the upgrades but the engine sucks! So disappointed, I will NEVER recommend this vehicle to anyone.

2012 GMC Acadia Denali - I went into the GMC dealer to purchase a Yukon Hybrid. I have loved the 2017 GMC Acadia. I had a wonderful experience so far. It drives very smooth, it has a ton of space to fit my family, and has a luxurious feel to it. We have 5 kids, three of which are teens. They require a lot of space for all of their activities and this car provides me with the space to fit everything. We also travel a great deal so space is important. A couple of the accessories pop out every now and again so that could be better. One of the air vents falls down occasionally, as well as one of the rivets on the headrest, but they pop back in. After my husband and I were forced to pull off of interstate 95 just south of Washington, DC during rush hour, we had to replace our water pump due to its lacking ability to function as well as belt that had been leaked on due to problems with the water pump. The letter from GM does imply that should the seal not function properly, the water pumps operating ability could be compromised. Prior to the breakdown, my husband and I noticed low coolant levels, monitored the levels and added coolant when needed. The engine fan continued to run even after the vehicle had stopped - a sign that something was not working right. I contacted GM customer service regarding the cost of the repair that, to me, seems a result of a malfunctioning part produced by the company. I was informed that because the vehicle was not repaired at a dealership, they were unable to reimburse me for the repairs. At the time, the vehicle was not drivable and was taken to the closest available repair shop. The closest dealer was almost an hour away. I am filing the complaint as I find it unfair and unjust that GM has not recalled the water pump shaft seal and instead is hiding behind the issue by calling it a courtesy customer service letter. After researching the issue, I discovered that I am not alone in believing that this part should be recalled. The letter offers this resolve: Your GMC dealer will check your vehicles coolant level and, if necessary, will add sufficient engine coolant. If the seal is compromised, the vehicle will continue to need additional and unordinary amounts of engine coolant fluid. This letter offers a cowardly attempt at patching the real issue (that is the malfunctioning water pump shaft seal). I feel strongly that this part should be recalled.

2011 GMC Acadia 49000 miles, water pump went out. Noticeable loose transmission gear issues, i.e., parked on a decline, driver puts into reverse gear and vehicle rolls forward two to three feet. This also happens when on an incline too. Plus, long period to wait for transmission to change from one gear to the next, such as from park to reverse and reverse to drive. After the water pump had been replaced, cars frame is noticeably creaking when going around corners/turns.

I purchased a New 2021 GMC Acadia. Within 100 miles I discovered 360 Camera didn’t work. Automatic Braking, Lane change and road departure were all dysfunctional. GMC has had camera issues for several yrs. Continued selling know the safety issues. I would recommend you avoid this vehicle at all costs. Mine has less than 1000 miles and I’m going back to Honda and take the loss.

The horse power in this vehicle is amazing, 310hp stock. The engine under 60 miles an hr kicks over to a 4 cylinder to conserve gas. With my long commutes each day I can get 450 miles out of the 22 gallon tank.

My new Acadia has been torn apart at the dealership now for weeks. Bought my 2017 Acadia SLT in May. Loved the drive such a great & comfortable SUV. Then the spotting started. I had been noticing the vehicle leaving spots on my driveway. I really was trying to convince myself that it was just A/C water. Took my new baby in to find out what was leaking. The technician showed me. He said, I really thought I was just going to tell you it was moisture from the A/C. Instead what he had was a large puddle of fluid & a bad Transmission leak! WTF. This car has 4k miles on it.Now they have to rip out the transmission? Now that was 2 weeks ago. Today I call and Im informed that they found the source of the leak. The Torque Converter!!! GMC! My car is brand ** new and now its going to be in the shop for a few more weeks! Im trying to be patient... but something needs to be done! I want to give a negative stars. The car while running is great, but its already broken... and it wasnt even the best deal out there!!!

I have 2009 GMC Acadia. My power steering started having issues to the point that I should not be driving it and cant afford to fix it. Trade to trade it in with that issue does not work. I have seen lots of people with these issues. Make it a recall. This is why people stay clear of American cars .

2008 GMC Acadia - So far purchased 2010 45k. When it rains the interior smells like a smelly gym locker. I replace headlights two times. The broke transmission second gear and reverse $1500. Thats no labor charge. My husband is certified mechanic. 4 recalls on it? Filling car with gas, the car wont start after doing so. Acceleration problems, air condition problems. I Do regular maintenance every 2500 miles. Not happy and still paying for it. The body is nice and well its a piece of junk. I will never buy one again.

General Motors executives should have their family members drive this piece
General Motors executives should have their family members drive this piece of crap and experience what the rest of the Acadia owners experience: Timing chains replaced at 40,000 miles, Steering assembly replaced at 55,000 miles, transmission failure at 120,000 mile, wiring harness fire, and now the transmission failure again at 173,000 miles. While the timing chains and the first transmission were repaired at GMs dollar (goodwill), they called it even though they had a recall on the transmission after mine was repaired. They now want $1620 to repair a fouled solenoid valve in the transmission. Its fouled with oil, in a closed system, that while it could have been caused from when they repaired the transmission the first time, they state the high mileage is the cause??? Its a Closed System; they repaired and fouled ports in a solenoid valve. This is another reason I will not in my lifetime buy any General Motors product again. They do not stand behind their products, let alone have family members drive them.

Purchased a used with 50000 miles 2009 Acadia. All routine PM completed on Acadia. First problem occurred at 75000 miles. Transmission began to slip, felt like engine missing, then reverse went out, heard a pop. There is a plate in there that snapped. GMC replaced the Tranny. Happy for that. Second problem 76000 miles, O2 sensors changed, 102$ each. Next the converters failed. Replaced the front and I gutted the rear one. Engine light stayed on but ran fine a little rich. Converters are 450-560$. Next problem the passenger door window not working fixed myself. Next problem the rear hatch collapsed on my wifes back and her back is broken due to this. Next problem, the power steering pump went out, it would work fine then stop all of a sudden. My wife and I were constantly avoiding wrecks due to this. Take the Acadia to dealer for recall. They tell me they need to see if the number on the pump is the recalled one. Im like, Well its bad so... must be... A week later... The service guy tells me, Well your strut is out, your motor mounts are bad, and your rack and pinion need to be replaced. Its leaking oil. They had Acadia for a week and still did not look at the pump. I take it home, replace the rack and pinion and both struts, the motor mounts were not bad at all. I take it back to the dealer and tell him, Ok, here. Check to see if the pump is the recall one. He calls me two days later says to me, Until you replace the rack and pinion we cant check the pump. I blow my fuse, tell him not very nicely the parts I replaced. I take Acadia home then order a pump on eBay 150$. Change it myself in a hour. CURRENT problem, fill up with gas Acadia dies in the middle of my left turn in traffic. Get help tow it home. I checked fuel pressure it was low so I changed the fuel pump myself 150$, and put brand new plugs in it. Before I send to dealer I had friend who is a mechanic put code computer on it, throws 6 codes over and over. I research web, says code related to timing chain stretched. I send to dealer telling them the codes. They call me next day say, Your plugs are black, burnt up. I say, That is brand new plugs. Never ran with them. How can they be burnt up? Then he says, Ill put factory set in and try again. Calls me back says, Well I have real bad news, we ran a oil analysis on the Acadia and you have signs of metal in your oil. Then tells me the rear converter got sucked into the engine (the one I gutted out) and caused the crank shaft and pistons to fail, and I need a engine. Also tells me they got the Acadia running but it would not go over 1500 rpm. So Im like, Well you just told me the engine was running but not over 1500 rpm, how can the crank shaft and pistons be bad if this is the case? Far as the oil and metal all oil will have trace of metal at this mileage its called wear. I am so disgusted with this dealership and GMC in general. I will never buy anything GMC makes again. 37,000$ AND WE DROVE THE CAR FOR ONLY 70,000 MILES.This is Courtesy GMC in Broussard LA. Do not go there people. Every time this service guy talks to me about my car it is all lies. I dont think they even looked into the converter, if they did they would have seen it was gutted completely. My main gripe is how they jump to these conclusions so fast without getting in there and working on things. Its like they see one thing and stop and blame everything on that one issue which has for me been never the main problem with this Acadia.

For the past 3 months my check engine light continues to come on. I have had a complete tune up, with all spark plugs being replaced, air filters replaced, etc. Always keep levels checked and changed when needed. No real problems with the vehicle (2011 GMC Acadia) until now. Check engine light comes on repeatedly, even after work is completed. I have taken this vehicle to 3 shops for a diagnostic check. Only two had the same diagnostic results. Mostly timing chain issues, possible stretched. I dont understand why this is happening at this point. Has there been any recalls regarding this matter. I havent seen or heard of any recall.

I purchased my 2012 Denali from an Authorized dealer in Anchorage Alaska. I live in a rural community in Alaska and had my car barged to me in Nome Alaska. I have serviced my car 2 times a year with our local mechanic. My car as less than 25,000 miles on it. I drive less than 4 miles round trip to work at 25 to 30 miles per hr. This car has never been ran hard. This SUV is now in Catastrophic engine failure!!! The only way to check on what is going on with it is to pull the engine. If there is an issue with the engine we should just replace it due to the cost of whatever could be the problem and no guarantees it will not happen again. My mechanic explained that this is a known issue with these engines and there is no way of preventing it from happening even if we replace the engine!!! I feel like I have a beautiful piece of junk. I loved everything about this SUV. I paid top $$$ to have a nice reliable vehicle. I will never buy a GMC again.

Bought a 2009 gmc Acadia in 2010 that was supposed to be an execs vehicle. Paid over 50k when said and done. We have 17 pages of repairs already. Steering was replaced 5 times and is making the same clicking but gmc feels I should pay to fix it. Whenever we gas up the truck wont start. They force you to do all kinds of bs maintenance to keep your warranty which ironically never covers the issues or parts needed. In addition there have been at least 9 recalls in 5 years. Will never buy a Gmc vehicle again.

I thought for sure I had not only a beautifully used (with 2 normal previous owners) Acadia. Mint condition. My kids and I finally felt like we were moving up. The coils were replaced, drive shaft per recall was replaced and now all of a sudden car is dead due to engine and timing chain. 2009 GMC Acadia gave me false hope. Still have two years left of payments and I have no idea how I am going to afford to get my car out of the shop now. Am contemplating on getting an attorney.
