General Motors Automobile Troubleshooting
If you're looking for help fixing your General Motors Automobile, look no further! Our comprehensive General Motors Automobile Troubleshooting guide will explain common issues, provide tips, and show you how to read your model's error codes.
The vehicle is not starting
If your vehicle either takes a long effort to start, or the vehicle just won't start by any means then the most predictable issue can be a dead battery.
You need to be very observant to correctly identify and troubleshoot such an issue with your vehicle. If in response to turning your ignition key the vehicle is silent then the issue is with the battery or connecting terminals for sure.
If there is a cranking sound while ignition then the issue might be with the fuel intake or the spark plug.
In any case, you can arrange a tow truck or if possible can jump start your vehicle using a jump starter kit to safely reach a nearby workshop for further investigation of the issue.
Engine Over-heating
Continuous over-heating of an engine can root for it to burn out. Engine temperature is shown with the help of a gauge on the dashboard –you do not want it to keep spiking toward the H on the meter.
Following are the major causes of engine overheating:
• Your vehicle might be over-burden, exceeding the load index rating
• Vigorously driving in the rough terrain
• Over-speeding
• Absence of oil or coolant
Stop as soon as you realize that the engine is heating up and trust that the motor will chill off. If possible, top up your vehicle with more coolant.
Battery
The battery is one of the principal components of a vehicle that needs to work appropriately. The life expectancy of a battery is around 5 years. The battery is made up of lead and highly corrosive acid. A normal problem that occurs with batteries is bad terminals.
By applying lubricants on the terminals of the battery you can keep the battery fit as a fiddle. In case you are not a big fan of maintaining a battery, what you can do is buy a maintenance-free battery, which will work for a very long period without any issues.
However, you can do the following to ensure the proper functioning of your battery:
1. Inspect battery terminal
2. Inspecting the connecting wires of the battery
3. Check the water level, if needed add distilled water. Be careful!
4. Using the voltmeter check the battery voltage for the output of 12 volts
Flat tire
When you have the correct tires, driving is sheltered and increasingly optimized. However, all the things considered, the landscapes that we drive on could influence and harm the tires in our vehicles. A flat tire is any driver's worst dream, but luckily many tire brands offer non-pneumatic tires. These non-pneumatic tires are not supported by the air, so they do not get flat.
In terms of battling a flat tire, you must have a spare tire and every one of the apparatuses for replacing a tire such as:
• Jack
• Wrench
Headlight
Driving with a bad headlight is dangerous; you basically become impaired to driving at night. Following are the scenarios of a bad headlight.
• Dim headlights
• Fuse bulb
To fix this you should always have an extra bulb in your car, as well as you must know to supplant it in the time of need.
Brakes
The most prominent issue among the most perilous issues is a bad brake, brakes normally wear out after some time. It is very imperative to stay aware of the upkeep of the brakes in terms of safety. Try to get the issue fixed before you face an evident disappointment.
Brake pads and rotors wearing out substantially more rapidly than anticipated – it commonly occurs due to the manufacturing fault. If you suspect such, make sure to consult a professional as soon as possible. Faulty brakes can be very dangerous.
Tire wear
It may not be realized when driving that your vehicle's tires are unevenly worn, however, worn tires can be risky because of their diminished grasp out and about. Make sure you do a proper inspection of your tires once a week and if possible every day. Walk around your vehicle to perform a speedy tire check, this will let you know whether your tires are worn out or not.
You can reduce or avoid tire wear by rotating your tires every 6000 miles. This will increase the life of your tire and reduce the rate of tire wear.

I purchased a brand new 2021 trailblazer in September 2020. While driving home from work November 20, 2020 my breaks, power steering, and stabilitrack went out all at the same time. Mind you, I am driving on a very busy street in Indianapolis also coming up on a very busy intersection. Luckily the left turn lane had no vehicle in it, but there was a red light and I could not stop. I looked both ways and braced myself for a horrible accident. Thankfully, I was able to get my vehicle turned and into a parking lot without getting hit or hitting anyone. I had to have my vehicle towed to Hubler Chevrolet (who took very good care of me). I did not purchase my vehicle from them. When I got home and checked the mail, there was a recall letter from GM stating there has been a recall on my vehicle due to the breaking system and the parts being contaminated. Also, due to the vehicle being so new, there were no parts yet available to fix the issue. I opened a case through GM and it was a struggle from then. Over a month for them to let me know that it was not a manufactures issue, but they would fix my vehicle at no cost to me due to the recall. Fast forward two months. Mind you, I still do not have my vehicle, yet I’m still paying on it. I receive a call from Hubler that the parts came in, but they are not programming with my vehicle. Two weeks later I received another call that more parts came in and those were not programming with my vehicle. I then called GM to initiate a buy back. About two weeks later Hubler called and stated my vehicle is now fixed and I could come pick it up. I receive a call today from GM stating they refused my buy back because my vehicle is now working properly. I am livid to say the least!
I love my GMC Envoy. Very enjoyable ride and mo mechanical problems at all. Im enjoying the multiple CD player and the deep bucket seats. I love the leather interior, the moonroof and the dual closure. I also like the door and window locks, the automatic seats and that they remember which driver you are. I like the interior design and the colors of both interior and exterior. The seats are very comfortable as well. I dislike however how far back the seat belts are attached. Also the center console takes up a lot of space but the way its designed it doesnt hold much so its wasting space.
I took my vehicle (2012 Equinox) to the dealership to have my piston rings replaced due to a recall. After having them replaced there was a noise coming from under the hood. I asked the dealership what was this noise, after having my vehicle for a month I was told that the noise is coming from a Vacuum which comes from the pistons not working properly. I was told that I must pay for this to be fixed because its not under warranty. My problem is that if the piston rings caused this and theres a recall for this, then the Vacuum problem should be in recall as well. I contacted GM and they told me the same thing the dealership said but added that this has not been seen in all vehicles. How many have to have this problem for GM to make it their priority? Not fair to pay for something that was caused by a recall!!!
I love the way GMC Terrain handles the road. Good gas mileage and plenty of pep to pass on steep hills. Very roomy for travel. I love the body style and the way this short lady sits up to see over the front dash. My only complaint is not as quiet on rough road. Most highways there is no wind or road noise. But other than that, Im very happy with my choice.
2015 Yukon rims peeling so bad, theyre not holding air and cant be balanced. Tried to resolve issue with dealer and customer care and finally a manager with customer care, she was rude, unhelpful. Ive always driving GM. Its disgusting how they treat loyal customers, I filed a complained with BBB and I encourage anyone with the same, because it is a safety issue.
At a dealership visit in October of 2016, they said they were going to do a recall. I thought that was good, hadnt recalled seeing a recall notice in the mail but found it later on at home in the pile. So after reading it, I realized they didnt follow the protocol for performing the safety recall. They skipped replacing a part which it clearly states needed replacement on my specific truck. So I called the dealer and just asked if they actually replaced the part or just updated the one currently in the truck. They said no, no replacement just an update.I left it at that, as I had a horrible experience dealing with the service manager on a separate issue but on the same day the truck got the recall done. After inquiring at another dealer I was told they werent able to even look into it because GM already paid ** dealership to do the work. So a call to the 1800-customerscomelast folks at the customer care center really ties it all together as they now know Im driving with a known defective airbag pretensioner. To add more to it, the district manager has put a me on a blacklist at what seems to be every dealer within 100 miles. So where to go for warranty on pile of crap??? SCUMBAGS.
Horrible service, will never own another GM motor. I own 1 now and has been in the shop over 6 times. No one will return my phone call, GM will lose connection when Im on the phone and never return my call. Ive left over 3 voicemails. Terrible dealership too!
I am writing this complaint as I am very disappointed the way my whole purchase and ownership experience. I feel that a profit motivation has ruled the decision making process and customer service non existent. Firstly at the purchase of our 2012 Chevrolet Cruz, one major significant item was not offered and when we became aware of this item we were told it was too late. Then on the first trip we hit a pothole and damaged two tires. No problem, we have warranty. But even the dealership gave us the vehicle with three tires with a maximum of 21 PSI 2 at 18. We paid for this as no one was responsible. We noticed on the side mirror at the outset what we perceived to be polish dust. Upon the initial washing we became aware that it was actually a defect. We drove to the dealership only to be told we will sort it out. However, after repeated complaints we were told it was never written down and you now are out of warranty. GM in their infinite wisdom agreed and refused to change them. Managers looking at the mirrors have said off the record that it is definitely a flaw, but I guess in this experience it will be up to us to solve it. Other items which were not on the warranty. Replace the brake disk and the pads at 30,000 KM (As a former Rally racer this is absurd). The air conditioning works poorly to say the least, even I had to pay to change to replace all the filters. There is a power surge from the gearbox at gear change - still unresolved but we are out of warranty.I worked at GM and this is something I never saw from a quality perspective. I am also a second generation GM owner as my father lived and breathed GM and owned GM cars for approximately fifty years. At this point Big Brother and its profits have lost a customer and I will never consider a GM product again. I can assure you I will expound my experiences to prospective buyers as well. I have never favored Lemon Laws but I now realise that they have a place and are needed to protect customers. Thank you for reading.
I am writing this to bring to Buicks attention a real bad experience/false advertisement as well as unacceptable customer service experience at West Point Buick GMC (16835 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77094). I was excited to book the 24hr Test Drive on Buick Enclave. As per the Buick website I contacted West Point Buick to Book my Test drive for Sept 5th long weekend on Aug. 17th, 2015. ** from the dealership contact me and provided her the all the details. I reconfirmed with her that the Car will be available multiple times include on Friday Sept 4th, 2015. I also confirmed with her that I will get an AWD with unlimited mileage for 24hrs on Sept 5th, 2015 and I will be arriving at the dealership at 9:30am on Sept 2015. I double checked the Terms and Conditions outlined in PDF document provided before scheduling the Test drive. While inquiring the details of any restriction or documentation required on the day of the test drive we were asked to bring Driver License, Insurance, and the 2 current Pay Slips. I refused to bring the 2 current Pay Slips as it was not listed in the Terms and Conditions for 24hr Test drive. The dealership backtracked and said that it is only required when will buy the vehicle. Here is my experience in chronological order of at the dealership. Arrived at the Dealership at 9:25am. The dealership had no record or record of schedules for the Test drive. A salesperson (SSG **) joined us and asked us to register at the desk. The receptionist informed that she is busy and we have to wait to get the driver license scanned. We were told we can select any New Buick Enclave on the lot. The salesperson had no idea on Packages offered or if they have an AWD on their lot. They asked us to look at Stickers and check and select the vehicle available ourselves. He also informed us that he cant get an AWD Enclave since it’s not available with them contrary to confirmation over the email. The salesperson also informed us that we can return the vehicle on Monday since dealership will be closed on Friday and there is no limit on mileage. While reception was still busy we were presented with a Legal Contract that we have agreed to buy the Car prerequisite on the Credit Check and Financial approval and indicating that while we have the car if we go over certain miles we have to pay the charge per mile. This contract seem to be the standard contract for someone who has bought the car and hasnt got financial approval instead of 24hr test drive. Dealership informed us that we must sign this document in order to Test drive the vehicle and there is no other contract. The salesperson have us work with the Manager who wrote a statement below that the contract is not binding on us purchasing the vehicle and that the Vehicle will be available with unlimited mileage on our insistence. While we finally scanned out Driver license with reception the salesperson still insisted to make a copy of the driver’s license. It is already 10:15am while we were trying to acquire the car for the Test drive. We mentioned that we will be driving the car to Austin as per Terms and Condition of 24hr drive the Car is allowed to be driven within the State. The purpose for our 2-hour drive was to experience the Vehicle on how we intend to use it for our active lifetime and weekend travel. On hearing this the sales person went to GM and informed him of our intention. The GM made us wait for 20 minutes. We inquired the name of the GM from the salesperson while waiting for him to get back to us after a long wait. The Sales person refused to provide the name of the GM and asked us why we care about the name. That is very unprofessional of them thinking that we will file a complaint against them. Finally GM (**) came out and told us Sorry we cant offer the Vehicle for test drive instead of informing us of any mileage restriction. On our query he told us that he has talked with GMC and the limit on the 24hr Test drive is 200 miles only. That is contrary to the Terms and Condition document oh Buick 24hr Test drive PDF posted online. (v) We were further informed by GM of the dealership that we can only have the car for 6 hours even if we comply with 200miles restrictions and have to bring back the car by 7:00pm before the dealership closes instead of the next day (Sunday) or Monday morning when the dealership reopens. While scheduling the 24hr Test drive 3 weeks ago no such restriction was mentioned to us.We had enough and decided to leave the dealership The GM came out and said we can keep the car for 24hrs but the 200miles limit will apply. It was 11:15am and by this time it didnt even matter if they offered the 24hr test drive according to the condition listed in the Buicks published Terms and Condition document online as we were not comfortable with taking the car out of the lot and absolutely fearful of the prospect of buying the car from Buick and dealing with such Customer experience. It seems the dealership had no idea about the 24hr test drive Program and what are Terms & Conditions for it and how to treat the Customers in general.I am extremely unhappy with Buick on not communicating the Program properly to their Dealerships and the Customer Service at their Dealership. Here are my pain points from this experience. (a) I arranged and reconfirmed 3 weeks ahead and put aside all my commitments for the Long weekend to conduct the Test Drive that never happened. (b) Dealership had no record of schedules and the Customer communication before the Schedule date about the Test Drive. (c) Dealership didnt had the 24hr Test Drive Contract and Terms and Conditions form and used general sales Contract. (d) Real Bad Customer Service at the dealership and they make me wait for 2 hours while they ran around trying to find things that should be in order on first place.(e) Rude behaviour from GM and right away refusing the Test Drive without explaining and giving us the option of driving the vehicle for restricted miles and hours as per dealership understanding instead of the Terms and Conditions of 24Hr Test Drive program.(f) Refusal of Sales Person to Provide General Manager name that I have to find out later from the reception. I expect Buick to reimburse me for ruining my long weekend and the time and frustration in dealing with their dealership.
I have a 2018 Chevy Traverse High Country and underneath the wheel fender skirt below happens to be a cheap fiber material that is starting to come down on the fifth day that I drove this vehicle and it will become a road hazard issue that needs to be addressed immediately. Which I think in my professional opinion it should have been a hard plastic that repels and prevents water intrusion and moisture from getting in the engine area department etc. Also for the tow hitch you have to remove the plastic panel in order to install a tow hitch that completely exposes the structure of the bumper which it looks awful. It should be a trim nicely around the tow hitch. Also you dont get any TVs nor USB MP3 configuration, the navigation is not accurate.
I purchased my ‘16 Yukon in August of 2017 and by far this was the worst purchased I could’ve made. Since the day if purchase, I have to repair/replace the battery, motor mounts (~5 days after purchased), some plug for the transmission as the RPMs continuously revs up at highway speeds over 3000 rpms, several computer resets, the AC (2x), the weather strips around the door frame of the vehicle, fuel injection pump, and transmission. The truck often jerks forward while in low speeds almost causing me to rear end someone even while applying the brake. It seems as if I’m using an extensive amount of brake pressure as this truck is very unpredictable and unsafe. At times it has stuttered where it felt like I had no power while traffic causing vehicles to almost hit me. I’ve been told by the service department that they could not duplicate the issue. These concerns are very serious and definitely unsafe. It’s a shame that GM has taken the stance to ignore these issues.
I have a 2002 Chevy Express Van 2500. I’m the original owner. I have about 98000 miles, first time. I just learned that the ABS sensors need to be replaced. It cost a total of about $600.00. The cargo side door that opens first on the passenger’s side is very hard to open. It’s almost stuck. I have applied grease, oil, etc. to the hinge, the lower hinge is the one that is super stuck. I am sure that the manufacturing process is the cause for this, nothing elseHow about the NTSB being notified? I can also mention that the fuel pump went out about 20,000 to 30,000 ago. The cost is over $1000.00. I have never heard of a fuel pump going out. I had lost time and wages and it’s dangerous. They make great vehicles, but the overall components are the pits after 30,000 miles.
The brakes on my 2017 Buick Envision squeak loudly when backing up and I only had 12,000 miles when this first occurred. I have taken the car twice to Suburban Buick GMC of Troy, Michigan and they said GM is aware of the issue but will not repair since it is life threatening. GM has notified all dealers that this is caused by performance brakes that have dust buildup. The service person stated they have had hundreds of complaint across all GM cars that have these performance brakes. I have purchased dozens of GM cars in the past but will consider other car companies in the future. Has anyone experienced this problem with other car manufacturers?
After 100,000 mile warranty, had to replace def tank as injector quit working. On trip to Texas, check engine light appeared, dealership could not find problem. Charged me $729 to tell me exhaust system needed to be replaced, cost $5,000, and would not be ready by the time we needed to leave for home. Service manager recommended a diesel repair shop, which did replace truck computer and altered exhaust system. Severe glow plugs later, plus back up sensors being replaced. Final blow was after moving cattle from one pasture to another appox. 3 hours away, a knock developed in the engine. Was able to get home and to our local service garage. Transmission removed to find a broken crankshaft. Cost expected to be $20,000 plus. This is my second Duramax diesel, first was a 2003, which I experienced 8 different occasions replacing injectors at GMs dealership. Each glow plug was replaced at least once. One blew out the head the second time, had to leave a trailer along side the road and had to be towed in. Final blow, check engine light came on, dealership said injector pump going out. Traded in for 2012, which has been as much expensive and troublesome as the 2003. GOODBYE, GMC!!!
Transmission began to malfunction after having the vehicle for one week. I went several months and Lumberton Chevy continuously refused to fix it. Finally they decided to fix the vehicle after me calling GM corporate office. GM called the dealership in Lumberton NC requesting that they pick my vehicle up for repair and they didnt! GM called roadside assistance and had my vehicle picked up. They kept my vehicle for two weeks and it took them a week to get me into a replacement vehicle. Im self employed and GM caused me to lose money. I asked to be reimbursed and they refused to reimburse me anything. I was told that they were going to pay my car payment for a few months, now they have refused to do anything. The district manager was supposed to call me in reference to the poor customer service that I have received and I have yet to hear from the district manager. I spoke to a lady by the name of Charisma on today and she stated that she was told that they would not allow me to trade the vehicle for another one neither are they willing to reimburse me for money that was lost during this time. There is no way that anyone could ever talk me into buying a GM vehicle. The customer service is past poor. They only care about themselves and how many cars they can sell. I have never ever experienced customer service like this. I traded my 2013 Fusion to get the traverse because I needed a third row vehicle, but at this point, I will be trading this poor excuse for a vehicle for a new Ford Explorer. I will never have anything to do with GM again. When you purchase a new vehicle, you expect to not have to worry about anything and if you do you expect to have excellent customer service. If you purchase a GM vehicle you will not get customer service. If you purchase a GM vehicle our just stuck!
I purchased a 2017 Escalade from Cadillac of Novi 1 month ago. Less than 3 weeks having the vehicle the head gasket needed to be replaced. My Escalade was in the shop almost 2 weeks and GM refuses to try to make the situation right. The thing that blows my mind is 4 months earlier my wife purchases a brand new Cadillac CT6 and less than having the car 2 weeks the sunroof motor completely goes out. Car was in the shop 1.5 weeks again. GM was no help and does not care about pleasing their customers. I highly advise anyone to stay away from GM vehicles. They are not reliable and GM will not be there for you after the sale.
I purchased a 2020 Yukon Denali at the end of December 2019. I have purchased a new Yukon or Tahoe every year since 1996. My experiences in the past have been generally great since Im always driving a vehicle with very low mileage and always still under warranty. This 2020 model had only 7000 miles on it when several service lights started to appear on the instrument panel. These included ABS braking system, Stabilitrack, Forward collision system, Cruise control, and Trailer brake system. Any of these can be serious safety issues. I brought it in immediately to my dealer in Branson, Missouri, Pinegar GMC around the first week in July. They checked it out and said it was a faulty module of some sort that controls all those things and they should have the part in a few days. It has been 2 months and they not only still do not have the part but cannot say when it will ever show up. My question is why cant they get one off the assembly line since they are obviously building these cars every day and must need these modules to keep production going? Very poor communication and customer service.
I own a 09 Saturn Vue and have been pretty happy with it till now. My Saturn seems to be having transmission problems, the gears keep getting stuck which causing the engine light to come but after a day or two it goes away on its own. I experienced this problem now twice. Found a letter from Saturn stating some models had a fractured wave plate which would cause tranny to slip gears, low 3rd or 4th gear etc. I took my car to GM to drop-off service. Advisor tells me I would pay 120 if it wasnt the wave plate. I get a call today stating they need me to authorize a 1600 charge for them taking apart my transmission which it could be under warranty or it could be not. Long story short I would not authorize that since I was never told that when I first came in. The manager was arguing with my boyfriend and I left with my Saturn Vue being untouched. They didnt even care that my car could possibly have that issue and they would have to honor that at no charge. So they try to get money another way. Sneaky GM. Its sad they wont even look at the car thats a Product of their GM motors. Horrible!
I have a 2010 and repeatedly have issues. It has been to the dealer as it completely lost power in rush hour. Car dash said Service ABS, power, saver mode, traction control, service ESC and then died. I took to shop and they replaced the PCM is what they told me. Car has since had lose of power, sluggish, dies periodically, and now almost 3 years after thousand dollar repair not to mention the air bag light that is on that they are telling me will cost at least 1000 dollars as well to repair as my car is out of warranty and that it is a safety concern. My car died again while coming through a intersection and the P0341 has come up and been replaced four times since February 2019. This car is a danger and I am forced to drive it when it runs as I have so much money invested I cant afford a new one. I have also replaced the throttle body and just about every sensor under the hood including spark plugs and battery and car is still acting up. Why are they not helping us. Someone is going to get killed. It stalls suddenly and with little to no warning. I am terrified to transport my kids in this car. Please help us…
I paid thousands for the GM extended warranty protection plan to get denied on a catalytic converter that is shot. The vehicle is 2 years old and under the federal emissions act warranty and even under my extended warranty. Nowhere on that protection plan paperwork states this would not be covered. I called GM direct and got a run around stating the vehicle was used and that is why it’s getting denied. Then their next excuse was in their records I was a third owner of the vehicle which is not fact. Im the only owner of the vehicle. Then I get “We cannot help you due to you exceeded the miles by 6K so sorry.”Now I have a bill in the thousands after shelling thousands out upfront first so I would be protected from incidences like this. My vehicle is a 2014 Chevy Cruze with 86K miles. I purchased it certified used with 8k miles. I have an extended GM warranty that covers up to 108K miles. Instead GM and the GM Extended Warranty Protection Plan denied my case. I am now seeking the attorney general. Also GM refused to give me my case number.
I am a former executive of GM. While employed, I cautioned management via the PEP Program that for years GM has not fixed a problem with their driving lights on many of their vehicles. After a few years, at least one or both white driving lights burns out usually from a hot socket, Im told. Ive owned several GM vehicles and presently drive a Yukon among them. For years knowing my years with GM, my friends and acquaintances often tell me, You can most always tell/bet the GM vehicle approaching you with at least one driving light out is a GM truck, crossover, etc. at least 90%+ of the time. I have no answer as to why for years this kind of on-going negative on-road advertising has been allowed to exist, do you? If its a supplier wiring harness issue, lets fix it as no amount of TV and other media positive advertising can overcome a day and night visible problem that gets most peoples constant attention and commentary. (In short, would any of us re-buy vehicles that after a few years, long before their lifetime runs their course, visibly advertise that they have a rather simple visible fix that seems to be an endemic GM problem? I think not!) Like Forrest Gump is noted as saying, Stupid is as stupid does. For all our GM families sake, investigate and fix as appropriate this seemingly forever on the road negative adverting. I am Randolph **, GMs past General Director of Information Security, previously located in the Ren Cen for many years.
This has been going on for years (back to 07) with Sierra, Escalade, Tahoe. Electrical problems (techs call it gremlins) that cause door locks to go up and down, gauges to go crazy, trans downshifting, StabiliTrak, left day time running light will be out (every 2007-2018 GM truck has a DTRL out on one side) because of a bad ground. Dealers say its battery cables or ECU programming. It is a faulty wiring harness and ground connections. Remember the faulty (death) ignition? Nope. It just happened and has already disappeared. GM trucks are garbage. I know, I had three and now am down to two. I also have a Ford (great truck no problems), and Infinity 5.6V8 (which is Nissan - 2000% better truck than any of my GMs). The only decent GM truck out of 20 GM trucks Ive owned over the last 20 years has been the 3500 Dually 7.4L gas (remove CC and replace with performance RV exhaust). I have to strip grounds on my Escalade every other week just to keep it from shutting off. The ground strap from block to firewall near the power brake booster was green and falling apart. Im in FL, with no salt or corrosion. These trucks are slapped together with the lowest bidder supplying the parts. With the way Nissan and Toyota are coming on with the full size (and diesels) I cant see GM having any future in the truck business. They need to stick with competing against Tesla with their Volt (which is twice the car as a Model 3 - and Im an Elon fan). Dodge is coming on REAL strong with their interior. Never thought Id look at a Dodge product until I saw their new RAM products. But GM... as soon as the rest of my GM fleet are done, Ill never buy another GM truck. Nope. They took the bailout. Ford didnt. They have problems and deny them. Other companies admit, fix, pay fine, fire people, and move on (Volkswagen and others). But not GM. Its the old school Detroit thinking... deny deny deny. Thats why they are losing market share and their stock is garbage like their trucks. Ick, I cant wait to get rid of all mine.
My boyfriend and I drove over 2 hours to a dealership that had the 2016 GM Canyon Diesel in stock. Purchased the vehicle and everything was great. That was on a Tuesday. With less than 500 miles on the truck and being 5 hours away from home on Friday (3 days later), the truck wouldnt start. Completely disabled. GM had the truck towed to the closest dealership to evaluate and repair. That was Friday, February 26, 2016. Today is Tuesday, March 8, 2016 and we are NO closer to having our truck repaired or replaced. Have made dozens of calls to the dealership that is supposed to be fixing the truck, to the dealership that sold us the truck, and finally to GM company. Everyone is very sympathetic and agrees this is terrible but do nothing! We requested a new truck. No, have to go through the warranty channels. We have this truck 3 Days! It died with less than 500 miles on it. They have had the truck now for 12 days. No answers on when the truck will be fixed. The dealership with the truck doesnt sound like they know how to fix it. GM gives a different answer each time we call and get a different person. Asked for higher up, get nowhere. Worse customer service ever!!
I have been trying to resolve an issue with a dealership and with GM customer service regarding my 2014 Chevy Spark. This vehicle has had 3 (yes, three) piston replacements as well as a new engine put in. They are giving me the runaround regarding a buy back under the lemon law. They seem to have no interest in keeping a customer or accepting responsibility. I was warned about the dealership but I thought GM would step up to the plate. No such luck so far. So disappointed.
I just came from the GM dealer on University and Atlantic Boulevard in Coral Springs. I own a 2016 Chevy Suburban yes a Chevy Suburban. I was having problems with it starting I wasnt sure if it was the battery or something else. Two days in a row I called Chevy in the Winston Park area Lou back row and tried to get service from my vehicle and was told they were too busy. My daughter-in-law Christina suggested I try the GM dealer in Coral Springs which I did. They not only greeted me upon arrival with a smile but they were actually happy to see me as if I was one of their own.Long story short Mr. ** is the gentleman that helped me from beginning to end. A perfect gentleman I will say. My car needed a new battery I just wasnt sure what the problem was until they put it on the diagnostic. I cannot say anything but good about this GM dealership. Mind you I did not purchase my vehicle from them but they treated me as one of their own. They took care of my problem and again treated me as family. In the future I will definitely seek them out first not only for any problems that might arise but also to purchase a new vehicle if need be.
After 83,000 miles on my Hummer 3 the head went out. The head has the same issue I was told by the dealer that the recalled 5 cylinder canyon head was having when GM recalled it. The cost for repair was $2705. GM made me believe that they would help me out but after the bill was paid 3 days later I received a phone call informing me that they would not help in this matter. At the GM dealer they did say that a head should not go bad after 83,0000 and thought the main office would do something. Just goes to show you why I will never buy GM the rest of my life and will make sure as many people as I know will know of this issue.
I have an 2014 XTS Cadillac with 54000 miles. The transmission gave out with such low mileage. My warranty had expired 10 days prior to this happening. My mechanic bought a new transmission from GM dealership and was programmed by GM Representative. I called GM headquarters seeking for at least to help pay for the transmission not the labor since I realize it was installed by third party. I spoke with senior representatives, directors of customer service and even customer service to resolve issue when I complained to Better Business Services. They did not care that the car had only 54000 miles. They refused to even pay a portion of it. I will never buy a GM car! Nor will anyone in the my family. They showed such disservice to GM customer. What transmission gives out 54000 miles. Never again GM. I will only make displeasing comments about GM.
Complained about why a one year old car leaks water inside when in car wash. Sorry too many miles, save recent receipt in case of recall 2014 Equinox! First we heard of your problem. Really!
No recall on defective fuel line on Chevy Express Van - Fuel supply line leading to gas tank rusted through. Gasoline leaks from the fuel line during fill up. Also, gasoline vapor would fill the passenger compartment. This is a potentially explosive situation. I reported to this to GM who said there was no recall and refused to pay for it. Ironically the replacement part is now plastic, so GM must know it was defective and prone to rust.
I received an alert from On-Star through email (from General Motors) indicating that I need to have my engine/transmission checked. A few days later the engine light appeared. I didnt notice any malfunction of the car, at least yet. I contacted the dealer & was told that the car should be checked, but I would be responsible for the $150 diagnostics fee if the repair didnt fall under the warranty. I checked the manual & my car is still covered under the transmission/engine warranty, but there are certain engine/transmission repairs that arent covered. I thought what is the reason to have this On-Star alert system. Shouldnt they know the details already? I think this is a ploy to get a customer in & make them pay. Unfortunately, the car is beginning to sputter as Im driving. It doesnt happen during acceleration. Has anyone had this same issue & what was their resolution?
Transmission gone in 2011 Cruze. Worst car I have ever bought. Problems from the minute we got this car home. No longer under warranty and hundreds of complaints on this piece of junk. This company needs to recall or get sued!!! Radio quit working, turbo replaced three times. Car was well maintained, just simply a really bad car.
I purchased a 2014 Chevy Equinox on 7/3/14, and traded in my 2012 Equinox for it. I loved my 2012 and wanted to upgrade from the 4 cyl. to the 6 cyl. Since the purchase date, I have had it in the shop 4 times for the same problem. 3 were with one dealership, the other one with another place to get another opinion. My complaint has been with the steering. It feels loose and non-responsive, and I also experience a terrible groaning noise and vibration at low speeds when making turns, backing out of my driveway, or trying to make normal parking lot maneuvers. On the first visit, they said a bulletin indicated a replacement of the alternator and a hose was necessary to quiet the groaning noise and vibration, so they had to order the parts and they sent me on the way. Within a few days the car was back in, to have those parts replaced. Needless to say that did not remedy the problem. After a short time passed, I took it back in complaining of the same problem. I have argued with the service departments, and begged them to just start changing parts to try and eliminate the issue. They have checked the steering pump, the hoses, the steering rack etc. and always say they cannot find a problem. It was suggested after the 2nd time in the shop, to contact GM customer service to get them involved. So I did. I explained the issue, was told someone would contact me in 24-48 hours, and needless to say, no one contacted me back at that point. For the 3rd visit, I took it to another dealership. Its amazing how everyone can hear the noise and feel the shutter in the steering but each time since the first visit, I get the same story about nothing being wrong. The dealerships say they cant just simply switch out parts that arent defective to try to remedy the steering looseness and the groaning noise. They can only do what GM allows them to do.Before making yet another call to GM and to ensure that I wasnt crazy, I decided to test drive another model just like mine. I did not encounter the same problems in the one I test drove, like I do with my own. And, for yet another opinion, I contacted a family member who also has the same model year as mine, and again she confirmed her vehicle does not have the same issues, but does indeed have its own set of issues with the A/C and safety warning systems.Since nothing came from my 3rd visit, and I could at least challenge that the issues with my vehicle are not normal cause it doesnt happen with others, I made another call to GM, this was 8/27/14. Again I was told my issue would escalated and someone would call me back. I also stopped in to the dealership again, and said I was bringing the vehicle back in, and the noise and shutter were getting worse. They scheduled my appointment for 9/3/14. On 8/28/14 I received a call back from Cecelia. I have never experienced someone so short spoken, heartless and condescending. I argued every point I could with her. Recalling the issues in detail, the conversations I have had with the dealerships, the fact that they say parts cant be replaced unless defective because GM wont let them, the fact that other vehicles like mine do not have the same issue etc. Cecelias response was simple and short You have an appointment with the dealership on 9/3 to diagnose your vehicle. There is nothing else we can do. She didnt care at all about the matter.I dont know how much more effectively I could have communicated that diagnosing the vehicle had been attempted and that I was asking for someone to take ownership in the repair needs and let the dealership start replacing parts. In the end, Cecelia said I am closing your case, and I said that they would hear from my attorney and the media, and she hung up.Today is 9/4/14, and needless to say, I once again got the call from the service dept. saying nothing is wrong, and that they are sorry they cant do anything to help me. On Monday, when the dealership owner returns, I will be working with him to get out of this vehicle and either back into my old Equinox, which they still have and I know I can trust, or finding an entirely different car. I am deeply saddened that I had to experience this trouble. I thought for sure one Equinox to the next, I would love the vehicle the same.I think GM needs to fire Cecelia. I saw another post from someone else complaining about her too. Perhaps she can only do so much, but for her to not even pretend to care about the safety of me and my family (or anyone elses) is inexcusable and makes GM looks even worse.
I bought my 2013 Malibu in 2014 with 30,000 miles on it. While still under warranty I had ALL 4 hub bearings go bad which were NOT covered under warranty although a known issue. I had to replace camshaft actuator and exhaust manifold sensor. At the time they were also not covered but NOW there is a recall. Now with 109,000 miles I am replacing timing chain and ALL internal parts like guides and tensioners. $2100 job not covered and GM stated on recorded call that it is out of warranty and has too many miles. They also stated that this is not a known issue (although I was told otherwise by GM service tech) and I should consider replacing the engine at a cost of $3900! GM will do NOTHING to assist in repair costs and will NEVER take responsibility for selling crap cars to who USE TO BE loyal owners. I guarantee you my next car in 5 months will be a Honda. Hey GM execs... I hope you go belly up and cant find a job and wind up on welfare as punishment for taking advantage of buyers who DEPEND on their car and the company they buy it from.
GMC Terrain: At 30k miles the timing chain and tensioners had to be changed and at 63k miles the transmission started shifting hard. At 68k miles it started consuming oil so it had the pistons replaced and now at 114k miles its consuming oil again and it needs to have the timing chain and tensioners replaced again.
I am having transmission acceleration problems that no mechanics or machine can diagnose. They can tell by driving the car, but cant come with a solution. Just keep telling that I have to wait for the check engine to come. But that could be too late and costly. The thought of waiting to be stranded on the highway is scary. I dont know what to do or trust at this point.
Warning!!! Do not purchase a vehicle from GM or Victor Chevrolet! Their customer service is deplorable. Here is my ongoing log of what I have been going through since I leased a brand new 2015 Chevy Equinox on May 12, 2015. Please help by sharing this with everyone daily. I will keep posting updates until this matter has been resolved to my satisfaction!5/12/15 Tuesday, leased a brand new 2015 Chevy Equinox from Victor Chevrolet. Odometer reads 118. 5/17 Saturday, day 5, radio/Bluetooth went dead. Pushed all buttons, one of them reset radio. Bluetooth dead until I shut off car. Went in house, came back out and started car. Bluetooth worked. Hoping it was a one time deal. 5/21 Thursday a.m, on my way to work audio went dead, screen still lit. Went into Walmart, came out, started car, screen was dead. Bluetooth dead. Sent Kevin (my wonderful salesman who promised me before buying this lemon that he always takes care of his customers. What he meant by that has yet to been determined) an e-mail stating that I was having trouble with the radio/Bluetooth and needed it replaced with a functioning one. After all, it is brand new and under warranty!5/21 p.m., I spoke with Kevin and told him I would drop it off after I got out of work that day. After work that day, I had a friend follow me to Victor Chevrolet to drop off the car. I met Bill in Service. He told me he would call me when the car was fixed. I was surprised when Bill called me in less than an hour, telling me it was fixed. So my friend drove me back out to pick up my brand new repaired 2015 Equinox. When I got there to pick it up, Bill explained to me that the radio/Bluetooth system had what he called a glitch in it. GM was aware of the glitch and was working on a fix for it. He warned me that it may take 1-3 months to come up with a fix for the glitch. He said if it happened again, just press this button on the rear view mirror and it would reset. I left with the vehicle, foolishly thinking that it probably wouldnt happen immediately. Wrong!5/22 Friday, the next day it happened again. I pushed the button that Bill had told me to push, and yes the radio went back on, but the phone/Bluetooth wouldnt connect. 5/23 Saturday, called Victor Chevrolet. Told them this was absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable and I was bringing the lemon back and I wanted it fixed, or they would have to give me a new car, or cancel the lease. Their choice of the three options. When I brought it back, I met Phil the service manager. He immediately knew what the problem was! All it needed was a new module. Thats all, simple! He would order it and let me know when it was in. Really??? If it was that simple, why didnt Bill know this two nights ago when I had brought it in??? I said Im leaving it! I refuse to drive a brand new car without a radio/phone - fix it!. I did not agree to leasing a defective vehicle! Odometer approx. 450.5/28 Thursday, got a call from Phil. He told me he could not get the module he needed to fix the vehicle. Said GM has a hold on the part. They will not release this part. The part is VIN specific. It cant just be taken off another vehicle on the lot! I said so you cant fix it. He said no. I told him I wanted another car or the lease cancelled. He agreed that this is what should happen. 5/29 Friday, I was then pawned off on Ed **? spelling, who is the sales manager. Ed explained that he would have to get authorization from GM to do a buy back and then they would set me up with a new vehicle. Said he would get back to me on Monday 6/1. 6/1 Monday, getting the run around from Ed! Surprise!6/2 Tuesday, Phil gets on the phone and tells me that hes been talking with some people at GM and they have a solution! Really? I find this sudden revelation to be very interesting. These dirtbags will say anything and try anything to delay, delay, delay the end game here. Now they suddenly have a fix!? I doubt it, but Ill give them one last chance at this pathetic run-around game they are playing. I know they dont have a so called sudden fix, but whats another day, in this pathetic game? So now, Phil is going to reprogram the unit. GM is sending him by computer the new program. He will install the update in the lemon and he is going to miraculously fix the problem!!6/3 Wednesday, Phil has reprogrammed the unit and is now out test driving the lemon. Hes gone five miles and assures me its working well. I can come tomorrow to pick it up and drive away in my brand new 2015 Chevy Equinox. Cant wait! Im so excited, cant you tell? 6/4 Thursday, cant wait to spend my half day off, begging for a ride to go pick up my lemon! They fueled it up and even waxed it. Life is good! I pull out, stop home, go pick up my son, go to a store, go back home, get in the lemon again with both my sisters to go to visit a friend in the hospital. Guess what happens next? The audio goes dead, imagine that! I call Phil. Oh, hes going to call Onstar to see if they can get a code! There may be hope. He thinks they got a code. I bring it back to Victor Chevrolet. Phil is not there, I talk to Bill. I tell him I am done, keep it, I dont want it… EVER! Its worse than the boy who cried wolf. I cant stand it!Here is what I want. LEASE CANCELED. REFUND MY $3000.00 down payment before I have to make my first payment. Advised by Victor Chevrolet to Call GM Customer Service and set up a case number. Spoke with GM. Reiterated my complaint and was shuffled to DONNA (1-866-790-5600x**), who would now be in charge of my case. She assigned it a number: Service Request #**. This made me feel like maybe, just maybe, someone might be able to help. Hahaha, the joke was on me! Donna would later become known as worthless, non-responsive Donna, never to be heard from again, even after leaving several messages on her pathetic answering machine.6/8, message from Phil ** (service manager who seems to be the only one willing to talk about the lemon), he tells me he is talking with OnStar and he has forwarded all my info in an e-mail to them. 6/9, havent heard anything - as usual - so I text Phil and ask what hes heard. 6/10, Phil texts me that he is out with an infection. 6/11, Phil texts that he spoke with the TAC and OnStar people and they are sending a chassis overnight ship priority. 6/12 (Friday), told by Phil by text message that chassis has arrived and he was pulling the lemon in as he was texting me. Later texted that once it was installed, he would be test driving it to make sure all was well. Said I could plan on picking it up Saturday 6/13. 6/13 (Saturday), Phil was still testing it.6/15 (Monday), Phil reports that its all fine. Says he will deliver it to my house so I dont have to be inconvenienced for the umpteenth time. I agree. Texted Phil to thank him for the delivery at 5:06 p.m. Reported to Phil at 5:33 p.m. that I paired the vehicle with my phone, but when I dialed, it wanted to use OnStar Calling and not my phone. Reported to Phil at 7:50 p.m. that I pulled into my sons school parking lot and the radio went dead, no phone, no OnStar, no anything!!! Would not reset after pressing the suggested reset button. Turned vehicle off and back on, still nothing.6/16 Tuesday, started car in a.m to go to work. Everything working. 6/17 Wednesday, reported to Phil about working perfect on 6/16. Told him I would continue driving it and report back. 6/19 Friday, reported to Phil that it was working fine. Spoke too soon. 6/20 Saturday, went to a graduation party. Went to car, started it and made a phone call. The person didnt answer so I used the button on the steering wheel to cancel the call. My phone turned off, but the radio screen said connected to Marg cell at which time I couldnt use the radio or phone. I turned off the vehicle and the screen remained lit with that message. I turned the vehicle back on and the message remained for another 10 minutes before I gave up and shut it off and walked away. Went back to the graduation party. Returned to the vehicle about an hour later and it worked fine. (VIDEO).6/23 Tuesday, heading to work and screen goes dead. Same as usual. Hit reset button radio goes back on, but no phone and no OnStar. Come out after work, and all is working. Need car through the weekend for my sons High School graduation. Will take notes and return lemon for third and final BS no-fix attempt that is required by lemon law. Pathetic. 6/25 Thursday, same exact thing as 6/23. On the way to work. 6/27 Saturday, after graduation, on the way to Delmonicos. This time Jim is driving which allows me to videotape exactly what it does. (VIDEO).6/28 Sunday, texted Phil with the news. I will be bringing the lemon back. Will need a loaner off the lot. Unlike the rental car from Enterprise offered to me before, that would have required my credit card. When asked why they would need my credit card, their response at Enterprise was in case Victor Chevy doesnt pay. REALLY? Thanks, but no thanks!!! Of course I declined that snake oil offer.6/29 Monday, heard from Phil. They have a loaner. Told him I would be in to leave the lemon and take the loaner. Did that at 1 p.m. Nice way to spend my vacation day off. Ugh! 6/30 Tuesday, texted Phil the following: Hows it going Phil. Is the 3rd nonfix done? That was a joke!!! What is GMs response at this stage of the pathetic game that they are playing? They either have an immediate fix or they no fix at all! You and I both know there is no satisfactory repair for this car! We need to resolve this asap.7/1 Wednesday, texted Phil. Asked if anything was happening. His response: Barb, a lot I have been escalating everything with GM tech including buy back. I am out of the office but I have a GM exec thats going to call you. I will be in touch soon! Bill was also going to follow up fyi. Thanks. Phil 7/6 Monday, texted Phil to see if anything new. Told him I hadnt heard from any GM EXEC as stated in his previous text. As a matter of fact, I told him that he was the only one I have heard from. 7/7 Tuesday, his response: Barb, I have escalated your case to the area sales and service manager! I have sent numerous emails, and made several phone contacts. Updated your favorite Donna.
At the beginning of 2015 at 121,000 miles on my Traverse it was diagnosed with timing chain issues. A couple of weeks (end of Jan 2015) later I received a letter from Chevy extending the warranty on the timing chain (mind you the letter was dated for Nov 2014) to 120,000. However because I was 1,000 miles over the warranty there was nothing they would do for me. Repairs would start at $3,000. After calling GM on a few occasions still there is nothing they will do. Then there comes more warranty extensions for Throttle Position Sensor that is part of the Throttle Body again pass the allowable miles.I am at a loss how a company can have know about these issues for years then when knowing that most of these 2009 vehicles are probably past the mileage warranties they extend warranties to prevent a recall. As of right now my 2009 Chevy Traverse is now a $32,000 paperweight. The catastrophic break down of the timing chain has happened. Looking for some remedy for a mutual satisfaction my auto technician has told me that with all the issues that motor has (which GM has been aware of for sometime now) it is not worth putting that kind of money and work into it and suggests a used motor as the more reasonable remedy.
I have been sending emails for two years for unsatisfactory service and have not got a response yet. Had my vehicle fix at a dealership in California, drove to El Paso and broken down again. Went to another dealership and it was the same thing was fixed in California. This is my work vehicle and was on my way from delivering a load. Had to get a hotel for their mess up and miss work. Been trying to recover hotels expenses and never received a response yet.
It is with regret that I am compelled to write about my Chevrolet/GM dealership with any negative comments, and I feel that I have been slighted due to the fact that I am a woman and men feel that they can tell me things and I am supposed to pretend that I can only grasp what is told to me and accept it unconditionally. I was experiencing wind noise from the drivers door of my new 2011 Chevy Silverado Extended Cab Pickup Truck. My first visit to address this problem was an adjustment to the door by the Service Manager who appeared concerned for my problem and wished to correct it. I reported back and explained that I was still experiencing the wind noise, plus there had been a recent dust storm and my husband pointed out to the service manager where dust had passed through the weather stripping. This time new weather stripping was installed.I drove to Colorado Springs to visit the grand kids for Christmas and I needed to drape a jacket over my left shoulder while driving as the air coming through the door was cold and my shoulder was freezing. My husband sat in the passenger side noticed that he could also feel wind coming in from the door on the passenger side of the truck.Last Friday, January 27th, I was again at Sands Chevrolet to once again address the wind noise, as well as a squeak under the hood. I was introduced to the Shop Foreman who was to ride with me to hear the wind noise and make recommendations to correct the problem. What I got instead is: What you are experiencing is turbulence much like that of an airplane. GM and Chevy trucks are designed like this so that the occupants do not suffer from Carbon Monoxide Poisoning. My 73 truck did it and my 81 truck did it too. I said that my 96 Mustang doesnt do it. He said that my Mustang is not square. I told him that the wind noise lessened after the new weather stripping was installed, but it was still present. I told him that I had used a pressure washer and showed my service manager where water had leaked in. He told me that I shouldnt have used the pressure washer as the truck is not designed to facilitate that type of pressure, it is designed to keep out rain water only. He said they have a smoke machine to locate air leaks. I told him that my next detection mode was going to be baby powder. He said yes it would work, by lining the door frames with baby powder then turn the air on full blast to see if any powder escapes to the outside. Because my truck is designed to keep the air in, not to keep the outside air from entering in. He said that in order to not have turbulence I would need to buy a Cadillac truck, but people who buy them do not use them for anything other than to haul people, and I would have to spend eighty thousand dollars not to have wind noise. Now if he could hear a whistling noise from either door, then something could be done. But nothing can be done about this. He suggested that I turn up the volume on my radio.I am returning to the dealership this AM to address the squeak under the hood. I really like my service manager but I think his foreman is overriding him on my complaint. My service manager seems genuinely concerned about me and my satisfaction. I feel that the Shop Foreman thought that since I am a woman he could give me this line of baloney and I would accept it as gospel because he is a man! This is a brand new truck and I should not have to cover my shoulder in cold weather, or hear wind noise at 65 75 miles per hour. Does any other Chevy truck owner have this same problem?
Purchased used vehicle in 2015. 1 year later transmission failed (2008 Saturn Vue XR). Turns out to be 3-5-r waveplate. Part was not heat treated to spec in this year’s vehicle (faulty part). Should have been a recall for this problem. GM finally honored coverage of said repairs but only 120,000 miles or less. My vehicle had 123,000 miles when this happened. GM would not honor repairs even though the said faulty part was installed into transmission during assembly.
Purchased a 2021 Z71 in January of 2021. While on vacation with less than 9,000 miles truck broke down. Had to be towed and lifters and a piston had to be replaced. This happened on a Friday so I had to spend 3 days with no vehicle and pay for extra night at hotel to wait on a rental. I contacted GM to try and get reimbursed for some of my cost and they never even acknowledged me. Very disappointed!
Own 3 Chevy Sonics. 2014 I bought mine, loved it so much we bought our 2 children one each in 11/16. In Jan of this year (2018) our sons car burnt up while it was parked and ignition was off for at least an hour. No modifications were made to this car. Fire department, and insurance company both said that the fire started under the hood. We called GM immediately. It took over 3 1/2 months for GM to even send anyone to look at it and it was after the insurance company had to threaten them. I went back to dealership, and was told that the car was still under factory warranty and they should have investigated it as soon as it happened. The GM investigator that did speak to me was rude and told me (3 months after the fire), I am sure the car has been scrapped for metal by now...which it had not been. He also said Well we dont know that the car catching on fire was fault due to the motor...and I replied You wouldnt know cause you sent no one out. On April 3, 2018 I emailed our insurance company and they said that GM would have a decision in 2 weeks. I have requested a status regularly and it has been 7 months with no response as in no call, email or letter from GM. All I asked was that they stand by their warranty. I understand that to GM this is a game of corporate bullying. They have no interest in providing a valid service to their customers. Their mission statement We at GM make a strong commitment to our customers, employees, partners, and other important stakeholders. They continue to promote that they are guided by five principles including Safety and Quality first...Create Lifelong Customers. GM has demonstrated to me that they do not stand by their product or their mission. GMs only mission is to serve themselves at the expense of their customers. I will never buy a GM vehicle again.
Looked online for car prices, found new car at dealership (Pat O Briens). Salesman said car was $3500 more than online price, that GM only allows them to sell 1 a month at that price. They are liars. Called GM Customer Service who doesnt seem to care about image of being liars. Same old sale stuff as always, false advertisement to get you in - switch and bait.
I am an owner of a 2013 Cadillac XTS. This vehicle is the third Cadillac car/truck I have owned. I am reaching out to you regarding case **. Ive leased the car in November of 2012, during this time I have had a serious safety issue and major concern. The brakes have failed on 4 different times. I have taken it to the shop, different reasonings why, but no complete/real answer. At this time I do not feel safe and confident driving the vehicle. The dealership which has it now, doesnt want to keep the car, stating it may not sell after. I am trying to get in contact with the sale manager at Crown Cadillac in Watchung NJ. As I will guess they would want me to take the vehicle to New Jersey to turn in, not sure what difference it would make. As stated the car isnt safe for my family, myself and possibly causing a crash on the road. After a week, they reached back to me, stating there is nothing they can or will do for me and have a nice day. Customer service for a loyal buyer, I think not. I will never purchase and/or lease a Cadillac vehicle again.
I talked to a GM ambassador about getting off-warranty work done this month. My 2005 GMC Canyon warranty was extended to 2013 or 160,000km because of valve problems. My vehicle had 108,946km on it when the check engine light came. A Tirecraft shop examined the truck and said I had burnt valves. I phoned the GM rep and was told to take it to a GM dealership to confirm that. The dealership charged me $368.98 to confirm what Tirecraft had diagnosed for only $221.66. The dealership said that they would only knock 5% off the $6000 repair bill. GM knows how much these repairs cost so the company rep should have been up front with me about what could be done before I took the truck in. I wasted my time as the repairs are more than my truck is worth. GM had no plans to help me even before I brought my truck in.
If you have to file a claim for assistance, pray you don’t get Yasmine. Rude rude rude. These people care nothing about their customers. 2016 Yukon transmission totally failed on first family road trip. Worst experience of my life. Really should have checked the reviews before I even bought the piece of junk. The one star speaks for itself. Be smart and do NOT buy anything from these people. Wish a million times I never would have!
My wife and I own three GM vehicles. A 2005 Cadillac CTS, 2006 Chevy Trailblazer EXT and a 1999 Chevy Corvette. Both my wife and I grew up GM fans. We have always driven GM, but no more. We do understand that we have older vehicles, but with how well we take care and maintain our vehicles they should drive like new. The Cadillac has 120,000 miles, the Trailblazer has 90,000 and the Corvette has 120,000. All three have the typical GM electrical bugs. The Cadillac leaked water from a rain storm into the rear seat and floor (where electrical wiring is stored) flooded it and fried wiring. This is a well known common problem and GM will do nothing. Drain tubes get clogged in the headliner (horrible design). It had the common timing chain and oil consumption problems. The Trailblazer has HVAC issues and many other electrical problems. The Corvette has had the transmission replaced twice and has a lot of electrical problems. The money we pay for the cars and then have to repair weekly is ridiculous. I am no longer a GM fan and will be looking for a better company to buy future vehicles from.
My 2012 Cruze that purchased in FL Dec 2011 had no cruise control. So I had the Dealer install it before the vehicle left the lot. Over a week ago my car started acting weird. It wouldnt go over 38 mph and it would show traction control - say the car was overheating and would go in Idle mode and said it needed to save power. Now I currently live in PA and took it to the closest dealer. The dealership told me that cruise control was installed improperly and needs to be removed because the wiring is spliced and it would cost me $214 with the diagnostic fee and the uninstallation. I was upset at this point because I didnt understand why I would have to pay to have something I paid to have put in uninstalled and I wont have it now? So I then contacted the dealership in FL to see if they would credit me back since the cruise control was put in improperly according to the dealership my car is at currently. From going back and forth and waiting for a call back, I finally got a call back to find out from the FL dealership that it was an aftermarket cruise control that was installed and that the module just needed to be changed and that’s it. So I called the dealership in PA and they said since it’s an aftermarket piece they didnt know that and there is nothing they can do. So I contacted GM and spoke to a rep Lauren there who I have been dealing with over a week to only get NOTHING resolved, and everyone just wants to play the he said she said game and not take responsibility for this and their employees not knowing what they are doing! I am upset and dont know what to do at this point. I am out of a cruise control and now have to pay for their mistake? This just doesnt seem right to me. I am still waiting on a call back from Lauren’s supervisor at GM customer service as well. This is my third car I purchased from this company and this is by far the worst experience I have ever had. I dont understand why a customer knows more information on this than their actual employees and now I have to pay for this?
GM does not treat customers fairly. My husband and I bought a 2004 Pontiac used but in great condition. We owned the car for less than 6 months. One morning on my husbands way to work, it went up in flames. Fortunately, my husband managed to get out alive. Two days after it caught on fire, we received a recall notice in the mail. Guess what? The recall was for possible engine fires caused by oil leak onto the manifold. After starting a claim with GM, and being told to keep the vehicle in storage so they can have an inspector come inspect the vehicle, they decided to make us an offer for the vehicle more than three months later. The offer was for less than half of the vehicles worth, and they refused to pay for the tow, road clean up (because the car melted to the street) and the storage fees totaling more than $3300.00 because they said it was our choice to have the vehicle towed and stored somewhere. (No one chooses to have their car go up into flames while they are driving it, and when it melts to the street you have no other option but to have it towed by police orders). We only did what we were told to do, and in the end we are paying the price. We are not even getting enough money to cover the cost of the storage so all that is having to be paid out of my pocket when I did not choose for my car to go up in flames. How is that right? I will never recommend GM to anyone, and I will always tell people not to buy GM due to how they do not take care of their customers.
GMC Terrain - Other family members had this model car and I was impressed with the smooth ride. They seemed happy with the performance so when I was ready to trade cars this is the model that I searched for. Great looking car, gets good gas mileage. Have had no mechanical problems at all. Transports five comfortably with plenty of cargo room. Great all-around vehicle and continually receive compliments on how attractive the car is. But I have had trouble with the WiFi and phone charger outlet. Not sure if it is only with my vehicle but have tried to get it fixed and was told I would have to take it to the manufacturers dealership. I havent done that because it was quite a bit of trouble and I didnt purchase it there. Also, since purchasing the car I have had some physical problems with my shoulders and lifting the back cargo door is a little difficult because it is so heavy. I am thinking about trading for a slightly smaller car that would be easier for me to handle.
Ive had my (purchased brand new in 2016) 2015 GMC Sierra held hostage at the local dealership for a total of 38 days so far while GMC makes up their mind to replace or completely rebuild the transmission. The decision has been made to rebuild so I can expect it to be in at least another couple weeks while parts are ordered. Huge inconvenience for my family as we had to cancel a family vacation which required the truck to tow our travel trailer. So far the truck has had 4-5 recalls and warranty replacement of the A/C unit and a radiator. The dealership Shop Manager told me GMC does not care about their customers if they can save themselves a few dollars. This will be the last GM product myself and my business will be purchasing. Go with Toyota if you want a quality product and service. I should never have made the switch. Shame on you GMC...
Just wondering if anyone else who had this recall done ran into a situation where the low beam headlights had to be replaced at the owners expense. This situation is ridiculous. Let me first state the I accept partial blame for not taking my car in as soon as I received a recall notice. When my low beam lights went out I took my car to JohnBear to have the HDM recall addressed. I picked up my car after the recall work was done and went in to work for night shift.Leaving work the next day I found I had no low beam headlights and now no dash lights. Took it back to JohnBear where I was informed that both my low beam headlights had burnt out at the exact same time(?) and that had nothing to do with the recall(?). Ive dealt with a service rep at Buick (Sheri) that I must apologize to for letting my frustration get the better of me. I was charged $373.40 for two installed low beam headlights(?). In my mind and 3 or 4 mechanics I have spoken with this is excessive and should have either been tied to the recall or the original work performed at the dealership. Yet no one is taking responsibility.
General Motors is the biggest pile of crap around. The 5 star Chevrolet dealership AutoNation Arrowhead totally screwed up my car after a routine oil change back on Dec 23 2017 and they ended up blowing out my engine so they ended up replacing the engine starter cooling fan along with the battery and at that point I told GM that I should rather have them replace my vehicle because it only had 16000 miles and all they wanted to do since it was under warranty but I didnt want that because then Id take a huge loss when I go trade it in or go sell it so then I got an attorney involved back on March 2018 and they still havent taken care of anything to this point. I even emailed Yvette Ibarra who is the CEO of GM and she didnt do a thing either so goes show you why then clowns went filed for government assistance. Thats because they arent worth a crap. They can all rot in hell as far as Im concerned. I have no sympathy for them clowns so whatever you do dont buy a GM vehicle because the moment you have a problem like I did they will blow you off 100%.
Why is it when the recalls on Pontiac hit the news, oh GM did this and GM did that but the other problems are for people who have these cars financed? You go through KBB or Auto-trader for a quote on what your car is worth and its nowhere near what you owe on the car even with a less than 4% finance rate. Even with your car being in great shape, you still cant get what its worth but then you check the dealerships for the same car and its 4000, 5000, even as much as 6000 more than your KBB and Auto Trader and these cars arent in as good of shape as yours. This is another problem that GM has caused and the dealerships are being paid to fix the cars by GM and then clearing $4000.00 or more on the sales of these cars. Its not right to the persons who have to pay for these cars to never get back what the cars are worth. Come on, GM. Step up and buy these cars back and then you try to sell them and see how quick your mistakes are putting the blue collar man in the hole.
Like many GM SUV and truck owners, my dash has cracked in multiple places. Even though my vehicle is out of warranty, I decided to contact GM Customer Care to see if there is a recall or resolution. It is obvious that this is a chronic problem for several year models. My first contact consisted of sending an email from the GM Customer Care website. I received a confirmation, then had to provide a lot of other information so they could properly review my problem. After a week of not hearing anything from GM, I called them only to find that my claim had been closed. When I inquired as to why it was closed, I was told that the person handling my case must have closed it. This required a new case to be opened, repeat of the same information, etc.About a week later I received a call from GM Customer Care to tell me that they had contacted my dealer and are waiting to hear back from them to see if they have a resolution. I would have thought that the dealer would have to contact GM to see if there is a resolution. A week later I received a call from GM Customer Care telling me that the dealer does not have a resolution for this problem so nothing will be done to fix the cracks. I then wrote this email to Mr. Dan Ammann, President of GM:I am reaching out to you because of a problem with my Denali. I have made several calls to customer service and they have no solution for my problem. The dashboard has cracked in three places... at the instrument panel and at the airbag panel on the passenger side. I would expect better quality on a top of the line GMC product. There are many articles on the internet concerning this problem and it appears that there are thousands of people having the same problem. I also see on the internet that GM has no plans to recall or provide any solution to the problem. As a loyal and long time GMC customer (This is my 4th Denali and 6th GM SUV), I expect more from GM. I found it interesting that GM Customer Service has to contact my dealer, Allen Tillery GMC in Hot Springs, AR, to find out if they have a solution to the problem. I would expect that GM would be the authority, not the dealer. This morning I received a call from GM customer service advising me that they have contacted my dealer and unfortunately, the dealer told them that they are not providing any solution for this issue. This caused me to attempt to contact you directly. As President of GM I expect you to be the person in the know. If you are not aware of this problem, I want to make you aware of it, although, since a number of lawsuits have been filed, I would expect that you are very aware of the problem. My question for you is what is GM going to do about all of these cracking dashboards?I am currently looking at joining one of the existing Class Action Lawsuits against GM or filing my own lawsuit to get a resolution. If there is no resolution through my contact with you or through legal routes, I cannot, in good conscience, ever buy another GM product or support my local GM dealer by buying from them or using them for service. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I look forward to your quick response.Surprisingly, Mr. Ammanns email is blocked by GMs servers, so the email will never reach his eyes, unless someone at GM happens to see this review and gives it to him. The odds are about the same as winning Powerball of that happening. I also copied the email to my local dealer Allen Tillery GMC with no response. It is my opinion that GM has reached a size that they dont have to care about customers or more importantly, returning customers. It wasnt too many years ago that we, the people, were bailing them out. How quickly they forget. GM products will no longer be considered when I shop for my next vehicle.
I have been a client of General Motors for 17 years and have bought several of what I believed to be your high-quality vehicles. I purchased an Acadia in 2013. About 2-3 months ago, I noticed that the paint on the hood of the car was bubbling up. I brought it to the dealership, Morrissey GMC, in Rockville Centre, NY. I was told by the service representative that I was no longer covered by the warranty because I had exceeded 36,000 miles, even though I have an extended warranty.I brought the car to 3 other body shops, and I was told that the bubbling was a result of a defect in the paint. GMC should stand by their product, regardless of the car’s mileage, and repair it at no expense to me because regardless of the age or mileage of the car, the issue at hand is that the paint is defective—which is a quality control issue. In addition, I spoke to a customer service representative regarding this issue, and she said that GMC would not pay for the repair in full, they would cover approximately half of the expense. She refused to send an engineer to examine the car, stated that her decision was final, and would not allow me to speak with one of her superiors. Why should a client be responsible for a quality control issue, this is an expense that is normally incurred and covered by any respectable corporation. In addition, refusing to refer a client to a superior to resolve an issue is very unprofessional. Isn’t the client always right? This obviously isn’t the case with GMC. Aside from being a longtime client, I have referred people to GMC and purchases have been made a result of my referrals. I can honestly say that I expected better from a long-standing American Corporation that is supposed to pride itself and represent what used to be considered a corporation that set the standard for other American vehicle companies.Needless to say, I will not be referring GMC to anyone in the future and this letter will also be submitted to the Better Business Bureau as I don’t believe it is in good practice or professional to hold the client responsible for quality control issues, or for a customer service representative to ultimately determine the outcome of any situation when a client asks to speak to their superior.
I bought a new engine $2200.00 from GM. I noticed damage on the block after installing at my expense. It should never have been sold. They say they will replace it. I have to remove and install it again at my expense. I was told it didnt matter if I put it in or the dealer, the same warranty applies. GM sucks. I am finished with them.
I purchased a certified used 2016 Chevrolet Malibu in March 2017 that was still under factory and powertrain warranty. My vehicle has been in the shop over 11 times since then with 8 of the repairs pertaining to the transmission. The vehicle has almost because multiple accidents on the interstate, caused me to miss a flight, caused me to be stranded in a variety of cities on multiple occasions where I have had to book hotel rooms and spend unnecessary money.I have had a new engine put in my car, my transmission has been repaired twice, rebuilt twice, and replaced once, among many other minor repairs. On May 11th, my vehicle broke down on the highway while I was on my way to my college graduation. I was stranded 3 hours from my home and 2 hours from my destination. It was towed to the Orange Park Chevrolet Dealership where it remained until today, June 6th for another transmission issue. A case was opened for me with the GM Business Resource Center and Daniel was my case manager. After 1 week of my car being in the shop, I was presented with 2 offers. They would do an equal trade or buy my vehicle back. Of course there are calculations involved and I was told I would be charged a usage fee for the mileage that I have put on the vehicle, but Daniel could not know the figures yet. He asked me to fax both the service receipts for all of my repairs and my buyer’s agreement. I obliged and confirmed via VM that I had sent everything he had requested. He then called me back a week later to ask if I had a chance to send the paperwork. Once I told him I had done so last week he said he must have overlooked it and confirmed her now had it in front of him and would calculate everything. He also requested a copy of my registration. I told him that my registration was located in my vehicle that was 3 hours away. I suggested we contact the dealership that it was at and have them fax it to him. He said he would call them. The next day, the dealership called me to tell me my vehicle was ready for pickup and that they needed their loaner back. I was shocked, because I was under the impression that I would not be placed back into a faulty and dangerous vehicle. I called Daniel and could not get a hold of him, so I spoke to a supervisor. She told me I had to return the loaner and that my vehicle would still be eligible for repurchase, but that the entire process takes a few weeks. When I asked her what would happen if I break down again or crash during my 3 hour commute home, she said she would “cross her fingers and hope for the best”.On Tuesday, June 5th, Daniel called me to tell me that the buyer’s agreement I sent him on May 24th did not match their system. He couldn’t tell me exactly what did not match, but that they need to get the paperwork from the dealership I purchased it from. Daniel and I got into a heated debate about him sending me to collect all types of paperwork, yet he wasn’t doing his part. He continued to talk over me and blame me because I had not gotten him the registration even though he knew I could not. I mentioned that I should get an attorney and we were disconnected.I picked my vehicle up today, June 7th. Upon pickup, I realized my entire backseat, back floor, and trunk was full of mold. The dealership said I must have had a leak, but it is not their fault. They did add it to the comments on my repair order, but would not do anything about it. I had to drive home for 3 hours in the Florida heat with my windows down because the mold was burning my eyes, throat, and nose.I called GM today, June 7th to request that the mold issue be notated on my case and I was informed that Daniel closed my case on June 6th because I have an attorney. I never once said I was being legally represented nor did I request or agree to the case closure. My case is currently in the legal dept. Why would it be closed? Also, why would a supervisor not call me back. Daniel and I cannot communicate effectively and a supervisor should have stepped in. Your employees shouldn’t speak or blame their customers as he did me. Especially when I have been more than accommodating to all of his requests. As I was on the phone with a GM rep, my engine light came back on. So now my car is again shifting hard, the engine light is back on, and my vehicle is molded out.I have been requesting to speak to a supervisor in the legal department other than Daniel since Tuesday to no avail. This entire ordeal has been pure hell, from purchase to current. My car is in the shop on average, every 1k miles. The repairs have been in the thousands. I still have 35k miles of powertrain warranty. Wouldn’t it be a smarter business choice to just settle this case as they have already put more into my car than it is worth and will continue to have to repair anything powertrain related? As a corporation, why do they feel comfortable treating their customers this way?
Dart motors are american made. We used Chevy Crate motors for power, 454 cu. in. V8 Big-Blocks, but as all things Chevy it was recast differently to save monies, thinner casting. Then the blocks started to crack, vertical lines in the cylinders after approx. 100 hours use. No junk. Time to move on now to 350 CID v8, burns oil out the box on fire up. Use approx. one qt. oil every 20 to 30 minutes. Called Victory Chevy in Ft. Myers, FL for warranty: No you need to call GM at ** This was a joke. Was told it is my intake gasket. I have been building same products, same parts for 25 plus years. Said needed to pull intake and take photos of intake gasket on motor. Pulled intake, no oil in intake runners, gasket perfect so I pulled heads, oil on top of #s 3-5 and 7. Piston #7 the worst, so pulled piston meat on, piston between ring lands, broke out 3 inch piece. This has happened on two of the last 4 motors. We now use only Dart Motors, no more problems. Other problems to watch for, rings hammered into cylinder, no bolts in cam timing, gear lifters come apart. 100 hrs. no impeller in water pump or impeller spins on shaft. This is poor quality control. Have now learned what GMC stands for: General Mexican Crap. Good bye Chevy!!! Captain Mitch.
I bought the terrain with 10000 miles on it and not too many weeks it stopped in the middle of the road. They said many things but finally they fixed the transmission. Then it was another new problem today. I cranked the car and went in the house and the car will not came back out. All the door locks were clicking up and down. The car will not move. I wish this car would just go away.
I will tell my car horror story a little later. I called the Rep over the committee who had the CEO of GM answering questions in the congressional hearing and they indicated congress is not finished with GM but we need to tell them our stories. Go to safercar.gov and put your complaints in there also. That is the website they said they use. The more of us that do it, the better chance we will have to be heard at the next hearing.
Volt turned off on the Freeway! While going 75 mph. Almost a week went by without a diagnosis because they didnt receive trouble codes from the vehicle. Dealer contacted Detroit to assist in the recovery process and said they would cover some of the cost because I was so close to the 100,000 mile mark. No acknowledgement of a near fatal disaster. Did I mention I was in the far left lane when the car shut off and left me without power-steering.
I crashed my 98 GMC Safari van into my garage when the ABS came on at a low speed. I replaced the sensors. Now it works but has a damaged bumper, and I have a damaged garage! I also have a 2000 Chevy Astro van that is now doing the same thing!
Took my $32,000 car in for recall on key and keyless entry. They rigged it and now it looks like **. I was told I was going to be given a new keys not altered keys. My husband and I are very unsatisfied and have called GM with no positive results.
Purchased my car in late 2011. Battery went bad December 2012. They replaced the battery - supposedly with a new 48-month A/C delco battery. This morning I come out to a dead battery. I called to find out if they will replace it since obviously its not even 24 months and this thing is dead. No. The manager will not honor the warranty on the battery because it was installed during my warranty under the bumper to bumper. How convenient. Upon closer inspection, the battery does not have a date, which leads me to believe that they installed either an old battery or just did not even install one at all. Manager told me that if you have a battery installed UNDER THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY, it voids the batterys warranty. Does this make sense to anyone????? Sure doesnt to me. Like I said, I have a feeling they put an old used battery in my car.
In Oct 2013, my wife and I purchased a new 2013 Sonic sedan. A few months later it developed a creaking noise in the steering at low speeds as well as a scrunching noise in the rear when sitting in the car each time. The dealer tried unsuccessfully to fix it on several occasions in which the car spent about 6 weeks at the dealership. They swapped out parts from other cars, replaced new parts; all unsuccessful. After owning the car for 6 months I had had enough so I traded it on a 2014 Sonic (what a mistake). The scrunching noise in the rear started soon after. But as winter set in 7 months after buying it, the creaking noise started in the newest car. Again the dealer attempted to fix it, telling me it was cured. But when I picked up the car the noise was still present. Again this car spent several weeks at the dealership - finally my car was dropped back off for the last time; creaking still there. GM customer service had been following the issue. I called the dealership and GM, told them the noise was still there. A few weeks went by and today GM call center called and explained that they could not fix the issue and that the creaking noise was a normal characteristic of the car and they would no longer try to fix this issue. I have never been so frustrated.
I purchased a new 2018 Chevy Traverse in July of 2018 from Hendrick Chevrolet in Cary, NC. It has now been in the shop for the third time, this time for 6 weeks because the part is not available. I find it hard to believe that a large manufacturer like GM does not have the part needed to fix my car. I am in the second loaner from the dealership and they are trying to switch me out again. I really dont think customer service is GMs specialty.
I had 49,500 miles in my Chevy Silverado and had a catastrophic engine failure. A lifter collapsed and damaged the camshaft when I took off from a streetlight. No engine should fail with less than 50,000 miles on it. GM offered to pay 10% of the repair costs which is inadequate given this engine is obviously a lemon and is unreliable from the factory. Taking a several thousand dollar loss and going back to Toyota. I should have never strayed from Toyota. Because GM does not stand behind their defective engine, I also sold my Tahoe and purchase a Tacoma. I was also able to convince a family member to not purchase a Corvette. I will also work to convince as many people as I can to not purchase a GM product.
I purchased a 2014 2500HD Silverado about 2 years ago from a dealership in Illinois. After owning at least 15 GM vehicles over the last 35 years this truck was shaping up to be my all time favorite. I took the truck into the dealership on November 5th 2017 for a check engine light. I was told by the dealership that there were multiple codes and was told several items needed to be replaced including the DEF tank heater due to it shorting out in the tank. Several other items were also replaced but all were covered under warranty. I expected to get my truck back within a short period of time. It is now January 16 2018 and I still dont have my truck back. I am being told that it has a bad ECM, also covered under the warranty but there are no replacement parts available. The dealership told me that 175 shipped from the supplier on Dec. 11th but I did not get one for my truck.I was then told it may be mid-March until the part would be available. That will be over 4 months to get warranty items fixed on my truck. I was told that the part is no longer manufactured and due to a design change in 2015 the new version will not work in my 2014. Just as recent as 2 weeks ago I was told by the dealership that 200 more ECMs were manufactured over the Christmas holiday but the dealership could not confirm that they would be getting one of them for my truck.Considering its now 3 weeks past the Christmas holiday and I still dont have my truck back my guess is that I will not be getting one of the 200 that were shipped out. All total thats 375 ECMs that have shipped since December 11th. Are there that many GM vehicle owners that are waiting for this part and dont have their vehicle? Why are they unable to provide the dealership with a firm date as to when they will get this part? How can it take till mid-March, which is also not a confirmed date.I have contacted 2 different GM customer service reps. providing them all the information I just mentioned and then some. Each of the reps. contacted me within a few days only to tell me that the issue has been escalated to the highest priority level and I need to continue to work with the dealership that has my truck and there was nothing more they could do. What is the point of having a 5 year 100,000 mile power-train warranty if parts are not available to fix the warrantied problem? My issue is with GM not being able to support the products they sell and have covered under warranty. This entire ordeal has made me very skeptical on the reliability of the newer Chevy trucks. What about the months the dealership has my truck? Will that time get added back to my 5 year warranty period? Im concerned about what happens when the warranty runs out and these parts fail. How much is it going to cost me then? Considering the amount of money I paid for this truck I expected better service than this. Does GM really think I want to put myself in a position like this again by buying another one of their vehicles? It has me torn because I have been a die hard GM fan all my life and now need to consider looking at other manufacturers for my next truck purchase. I just want my truck back.
Buyers beware. I have a 2012 Silverado 3500 Dually with 6.6 motor. Had many issues with this motor but the big one was at 150,000 miles it busted the crank. Yes I said the CRANK BUSTED. I was covered for 120,000 but this was a factory problem but GM would not cover this at all. This cost me 10,000 to put a new motor in. All I pulled with this truck once a month I pulled a RV to LA. So looks like my next truck will be a Dodge.
I bought a brand new Chevy Traverse LTZ in 2012. By 2014, I started having issues with the navigation. Fast forward to the end of 2017, and I have 8 officially documented cases of the dealership and I going rounds with GM trying to fix the same issue. This does not include extra trips I made to the dealership with hopes of rectifying the issue. Aside from when the navigation DID work, and would send me off the highway for no reason, just to get back on the highway, or not showing me on any road when I clearly was, or street names not coming up in older neighborhoods, or turning me on streets that didnt exist... The entire system is now inoperable. I get an error on the screen that either says, Map Disc Error, Disc Check in Progress, or Disc Error, to name a few. Most of the time you cant push any buttons on the screen because they dont work, or you cant turn the navigation screen on at all. I had 2 CDs eaten by bad radios too. One of them went to GM when the dealership sent the radio to them. I had no problems dealing with the dealership and I realize that it is not their fault that GM puts faulty parts in their machines, but as a consumer I am OUTRAGED and I just want a working navigation that I paid thousands extra for in the vehicle. It has barely worked even for a short period of time. I went to the dealership 8 times and got a receipt for services... But that does not include additional trips there to have something installed or for a new diagnostic. I have had my vehicles radio replaced 3 times and the map disc replaced 4 times.Every time I call GM Infotainment, the reps are unknowledgeable, unintelligent, and rude. As someone else said on ConsumerAffairs.com, they are not there for the consumer... Every single one I have spoken to shrugs off issues, doesnt know anything about GM products, and makes it clear that they are just answering that phone for a paycheck. Now when I try to talk to anyone, they always resort to, Go to the dealership. We need a new diagnostic. They dont have a diagnostic from any of my other visits because the dealership doesnt have the correct equipment to test something like this; Its GM parts... They dont make parts. Its a problem with a system or software or something they dont know anything about. But GM also states they cant use any of my previous other diagnostics because the error code could have possibly changed by now. They also cant tell me if it had changed in the 3 years Ive been dealing with this. Ive tried talking to what I thought was the legal department of GM, only to find out that everything goes through the Infotainment customer service reps... Who need training on customer service... Who always revert to demanding I go to the dealership for a new diagnostic and that THATS their resolution to the issues. They cant tell me if there is a resolution to the problem, if other people have experienced the same issues, or that there is anyone else in ALL OF GM who I could talk to about this. Ive demanded the costs of the navigation system to be reimbursed for the vehicle so I can purchase a GPS, and would also settle for a new satellite radio system so I dont have to deal with the map discs... But I cant get anywhere since everything reverts back to, go to the dealership for a new diagnostic. I have moved out of state where I was dealing with this, so going to a dealership for something they have no reports of or control over will cost me. I dont think so. This is NOT customer service. I am posting this on ConsumerAffairs, BBB, and mailing it to GM (PO Box 33170, Detroit MI 48232-5170 for those of you who cant find the address). Next steps in the process are getting my own attorneys if I dont hear from the ConsumerAffairs attorneys first.
I bought a 2010 Chevy Equinox in Feb, 2015. I was given a carfax and told, appears there are no serious issues or repairs. # mo. later had a 1,500 repair - GM picked up half as timing chain had an added extd warranty due to many failures. It was THEN I was told about MANY EXTD WARRANTY ISSUES BEING fixed before 80,000 on my car! Now at 114,000 I have complete trans. failure!! I was told Oh well. I didnt get the extended warranty at 104,000 when I bought it because I was assured the car had NO major issues. GM WILL DO NOTHING although there are HUNDREDS of complaints online about the 2010 transmission failing. The dealer wants 4,000 to fix it. It will be returned and repod as I cant pay for it, and I cant fix it. Thanks GM. CAR is a lemon from the word GO!! As many people who have a failed transmission on this car, there should be a RECALL or another extd warranty. I will go back to a foreign car! I will never own a GM again.
I bought a new 2020 3500 Duramax crew cab and got 1200 miles on it, fan came apart. It is now 6/4 and its been in the shop since 5/10 and still havent talked to a senior advisor. Made a lot of calls, and nothing. I am very disappointed in the way GM has handled this situation. It is not good when a person has to make thier first payment without being able to use the truck they bought. I have been a GM guy as long as Ive been driving and Ill tell you that if I was treated this way years ago I would be driving something else. I am tired of waiting for a human to contact me to try to get help on this so I will contact the dealer and see if the store manager has any options or if I need to go to the Dodge dealer a mile from them and see if they may have better customer service. My dealer told me that they have not had this fan issue yet but I have talked to other Chevy dealers and I am not the only one to go through this. I am only writing this review because GM has multiple records of me calling and requesting information and they just dont care. Good luck to anyone that have to deal with their senior advisors.
PLEASE USE CAUTION WHEN PURCHASING A 2020 GENERAL MOTORS PRODUCT. GM has no available parts to fix them, should you have an accident or something breaks. My 2020 GMC Terrain has been sitting in an auto body repair shop waiting on a rear left door since June 1st of 2020. My rental car insurance coverage has met the policy maximum as of June 26th, and now Im having to pay an additional $200 a Week for a rental, while my car sits waiting on a GM part. Their response to me was we have no parts available with no date of when parts will be available. I was informed by the repair shop it could be next week it could be 6 months, could be a year from now. GM is unable to provide a date when they expect to manufacture parts. GM is costing $800 of my monthly net income and has provided no customer service of any type. Ive called GM directly with no response other than the parts are on backorder. Ive filed a Customer Complaint with GM and with the Federal Trade Commission. - Hope this helps save someone a good deal of expense and aggravation. Thank you and take care.
Lease a GMC 2014 Terrain, 14000 miles on it. Go in for scheduled maintenance after the 2 year of free SM. Oil change, rotate the usual. I have coupons on the GMC app. He tells me I need the frictionizer, Ok. $90.00 dollars later, driving an hour and a half, washer fluid completely dry. Problem: Do I trust them and my kids safety, no. Freezing dirt 65 may, no way to clear the windshield. Cant use coupon that is on the app that you use to schedule the maintenance. Hmm do I go back? Probably not. If they miss 1 thing why not 10? Tired of bad service and excuses. When you pay for a product that expensive you better get what you pay for because if you dont... BAD BUSINESS. Thanks.
I too have a 2003 GMC that the Fuel injectors went bad at 120748 miles but, it was 8 years old by then and it was past the 200000 mile 7 year warranty. I paid the GM dealer this time to replace them. At 162280 miles (41532 miles on the new updated injectors) they (four) have failed again. The warranty on the replaced injectors is 12000 miles or 12 months. I only used GM fuel filters ever since Ive had this pickup which I bought new in 2002. Now I have to pay for new injectors AGAIN. Several emails and phone calls to GM helped nothing.
My husband and I went to Victory Chevrolet and purchased a certified preowned 2012 Chevrolet Traverse in February 2015. There was 36000 miles on this vehicle. The day we brought it home we had to wait for them to change the fuel tank. We also found when replacing a tire we found that there was no spare or jack in our car. If I’m not mistaken as a certified GM vehicle it should have not left the lot without this. I’m sure you can understand my frustration. We have had to fix the window washer motor at least 6 headlights and a tail light. The passenger window does not roll up from driver side only down. The button for the window washer no longer works. We had to replace the radiator two years into the car. I’ve paid for a accelerator brake pedal sensor. Now my biggest issue is timing chains and all associated parts now need to be repaired at a cost of 2800+.I was working with Mark Chevrolet in Wayne. It took 3 weeks to just find this out. The person I was working with never called me to give me any info on my car that was there. I always had to call him. He has been released but I have been fighting with GM to just call and speak with me. My suppose IT agent Michelle won’t get on the phone with me. I was told from Bob the service manager at Mark Chevrolet that I was declined for cost assistance from GM and offered $300 discount on my repair. I’m not happy with that. I am paying for a loaner on top of other rental car costs I have had. We thought we had a good car and it is not. In the 3 years we have had this car I’ve put way too much in repairs and I feel GM should be able to help its customer. This is our first Chevy and it’s been such a horrible experience. I never want to purchase another one. No one is helping or even listening to us. We are being talked down to and at. This is not fair. I am writing all our local news station because I have exhausted all I can with my fight. I have include screenshots of my fight with GM and Mark Chevrolet of Wayne. I also have voicemails that I have saved. I am a small business owner that relies on my car to provide for my family. I have spent well beyond my limits to repair my car. But this email is more about my experience with GM and their service than anything else. I have been told to have a Change of Heart when posting my experience. Told to Apologize for blowing up ONLY after almost weeks of not being able to actually speak to MY GM agent. I have only voicemails when my phone is in complete working order. I believe they are using some type of method to circumvent speaking directly to me. As I will return their call less than a minute from receiving a voicemail and now no one is available to speak with me. GM has denied me Cost assistance, charging me for a loaner car that I had no choice but to use while waiting over 3 weeks to just have a partial diagnosis of my car issues. I am not trying to be difficult. I am just trying to use the car I purchased 3 years ago from a Chevrolet Dealership.
Oil change was completed on 6-30-2018. As of 11-20-2018, I have still not received my $30 rebate. Every time I call the 844-656-5369 rebate center phone number, I am given another excuse that will delay the distribution by 4 more weeks. There is no regard for customer service or a sense of urgency. This is my second experience with GM Service Rebates with the same results. Numerous calls are required resulting in extended delays. GM should honor distribution of the rebate in the advertised 8 week time frame. If I am lucky this time, I may receive the rebate within 25 weeks. Handling rebates in this way does not provide an incentive to service my Buick at the dealership.
I purchased my 2003 GMC Denali brand new from the dealer in Maine. Ive followed all maintenance guidelines to date. The seat heaters stopped working within 2 years. Cost was $500 ea. to repair! The paint on rear door, bubbled and flaking off. Hood paint has been slowing coming off for the past 4 years. Just put $1,700 in brake repairs and I am still driving a death trap. No one can figure out the problems! With all the problems, the mechanic said the frame is huge rust problem and isnt safe to drive!! Where do I turn to for help?
I leased a 2012 GMC Terrain back in 2012.. It is 30 month lease. I recently sustained a medical problem with a year left on the lease.. I cannot drive anymore and sought to turn in the vehicle early as I cannot drive it. Balance owed on lease was/is not an issue.. what I was told by leasing affiliate--ALLY Auto... I would have to retain the vehicle for the duration of the lease period and carry full coverage with insurance for the duration of lease even though I cannot drive and my license has been placed on hold by State DMV. My complaint here is based upon the fact that the vehicle will be stored on my property, not being driven for over a year (I am a retired senior living alone) and I will be forced to pay over $2,000 in insurance premiums just so the lease calendar can expire as they will not allow me to turn in the vehicle now. I accept paying off the remaining lease value, but to keep it anyway at my expense for mandatory insurance coverage is an outrage... as it seems punitive. I advise all that seek leases keep this in mind... have an unforeseen event that disallows any more driving and you are screwed. Clearly, GM business model is based upon for every customer lost, we get 5 new ones so why care? If I ever get back on the road again... uncertain at this point... it wont be with a leased GM product. Screw me once, shame on them.. screw me twice, shame on me for being a loyal customer.
I ordered a truck over 3 months ago. I was originally told it would take up to 6 weeks. The truck was finished 2 weeks ago and is sitting in Flint Michigan. It just sits there and isnt being shipped. Every time I call all they can say is it is waiting to be shipped. Slow and horrible customer service. I will be forced to go to another truck maker. Hopefully, they will have better customer service.
It would seem that General Motors doesn’t understand customer satisfaction. Before today, if you would ever ask me what car to buy, I would always recommend a GM vehicle. It will be long time before I do that again. Through my local dealer I ordered a part 2 weeks ago, for which they took my money to order it, the part has shipped to one of the GM warehouses, who doesn’t seem to have any urgency to release to the dealer from which I purchased it.Even the dealer has no luck requesting the release of the part and GM customer service says I have to work through the dealer to get the part released because once it has shipped from GM, GM is no longer responsible for it, even though, according to my local dealer, this warehouse 75 is the GM centralized distribution center. I am now waiting on a supervisor from GM customer service to call me back. 24 to 48 hours although in the meantime I am stuck driving on a cracked GM rim that could go out at any time. Being a GM owner all my adult life, this has me frustrated and has developed a true regret in standing by GM all these years. General Motors, you have lost a long term supporter.
I am contacting you in reference to my vehicle. Unfortunately the service manager William has showed and made it very clear he does not want to service my vehicle at all. He told me that he did not know 100% what was wrong with my car unless they tear it down and that his techs dont want to do that and he dont want to pay them to do it. I had took my car to a front end specialist and got a second opinion and they suggested struts and strut mounts. He told me that if my warranty cover my struts, he would have them changed and I was going to pay for the strut mounts to be put on, which he said would be an extra $56. He also stated I needed a timing belt which is going bad for the second time around. I know when I bring my vehicle in, the parts that I am told are bad are covered under my warranty. He told me my warranty denied my struts but when I called come to find out, they never mentioned the struts at all being needed to repair. He also made a big deal about my warranty not covering my timing belt and they do, its in black and white and plus I asked them myself. Well, he called my warranty and told them that I dont need any struts and there is nothing wrong with my timing belt so they could block my repairs and he did not have to pay the techs out his pocket to do the work. I always come there for service to my vehicle from oil changes I paid for on up. I have never had to fight and bicker to get my car serviced there before at all. This unprofessional matter and stunt he pulled was uncalled for, all he keeps doing is wanting me to come out my pocket for repairs. Why should I if I have a warranty to pay for the labor and repairs? He tells me if they pull my front end apart, I will have to pay the tech out my pocket to do it. I am past fed up with his attitude and unwillingness to repair my vehicle. On top of that, lying to my warranty company so they can block the repairs so I can pay for them myself and basically, his way to show me that he is not going to fix my car and he is not going to let his tech either. Timing belt is a major repair issue. This is my only mode of transportation and for him to lie about it so he want have to do anything to my car - WOW. I have never seen this type of service before at all. If I know my parts are not under warranty, I would not bring my car in to have techs fix it when I know they have to be paid. Plus, warranty cover labor and parts and all this service manager does is throw in my face about he not going to pay the techs and someone has to pay the techs and he not paying them out his pocket. Customer service should be this service manager main priority and not how much money you can spend for parts that are all ready under warranty, makes no sense at all. Stop throwing temper tantrums when its work that need to be done and you dont want to do it. Its part of your job to work and make sure the customer car does not leave the same way it came in, which mine has every time I took it in to be serviced. This is not the first time I have had to get my front end looked at. One time they charged my warranty people and come to find out when I got the car back same way it went in. No work was done to my vehicle at all. The tech admitted that he never changed anything on my car that he had another car like mine and did that work to it. This service department and service manager are very unprofessional and wants to take the easy way out of things. Then he told me that he can spray some lubrication on the parts and that will take care of the noise as well as how my main concern should not be the noise, it should be the oil leak that I have never seen in my drive way - which is more than likely from my cover gaskets I paid out my pocket to have changed.
Their customer service team doesnt return phone calls, when you finally get ahold of someone, they have absolutely no concern or care for their customers. My $50,000 truck had a transmission issue at just over 70k miles because of the OE fluid and GMC offered me a $50 off coupon for my next visit. No offer to take care of the expense caused by a subpar fluid put in at the factory. Their tech service bulletin specifically stated the first step to the repair was replace the OE fluid with Mobile 1 transmission fluid, if that doesnt correct the issue, replace the torque converter. This is a well known problem and yet they leave their loyal customers to absorb the repair expenses.
Recently took my 2002 Silverado with Duramax and Allison transmission to dealership in mid- eastern Ohio for transmission and cooling system flush. A day later looked under my vehicle and noticed spin-on filter on Allison had not been replaced. Would any lubrication station not replace your oil filter if you had your motor oil changed? Called the dealership and was told that I hadnt told them to replace the filter. What a bunch of incompetent bunch of sorry **. Would be like wiping your ** before you sat down to do your business.
Avalanche (08) door locks - The four door locks on my Avalanche have failed. The 1st was repaired at a cost of $150ish. The 2nd repair was free and we were told Chevy was having lots of problems with the looks so there would be no charge. The other two door locks failed but today I was charged $350ish for the repairs. Four locks failing on the same vehicle has to be a quality issue that should be subject to a recall. I know other owners that are having the same issue with their door locks. This just seems like a quality problem that Chevy should recognize and address.
I have bought 2 Chevy Cobalts and I will never buy another one in my life. First one I bought was about 3 years ago. I was on my way back from GA and a semi hit me and I spun out on the highway and totaled my car. Well my airbags did not deploy. No big deal. No one was hurt. I called Chevy to let them know that the airbags did not deploy. I heard nothing back from them. I bought my 2nd Chevy Cobalt in May. I let my niece drive my car and she pulled out in front of a car going 50 mph. Car spun out hit another car. GUESS WHAT. The airbags did not deploy... Everyone that was in the car was treated at the hospital. Called Chevy and reported it. LOL. Guess what they said the airbags will only deploy if they are hit head on. WOW really. So because the car was hit on the side and the back of the car, the airbags did not deploy. Getting hit at 50 mph should have deployed the airbag. But my claim DENIED because they were not hit head on. Thank God that they were not hit head on because I probably would not have my niece, son, nephew or grandbaby. I will NEVER buy a Chevy nor will any of my friend and family. What a joke this company is.
Tedd Britt Chevrolet (Sterling, VA) and General Motors has given me the run around. They have shown gross negligence by refusing to replace my newly purchased 2020 Silverado 1500. I have been tossed around from manager to manager, from advisor to advisor. Nobody wants to be the one caught with the customer (me) in a potential lawsuit:I have put less than 15,000 miles on the vehicle, hardly owned six months. First owner. The vehicle has been in FIVE TIMES for various electrical issues including brake system failures (x3), and most recently the vehicle shut off while I was traveling +60mph. I fear for my safety. See attached invoice photos. Their staff sees you as a number - a price tag. Their “Customer Experience Manager” did not even look at me, he talked over me, and downright refused to help me - would not even give me the customer service phone number. He said it was not his problem. Incredible. Don’t waste your time, or your safety. Buy a Ford.
We bought a 2020 Chevy 3500 and we have nothing but issues the day we bought it. Been in shop 10 times over injectors, it’s in the shop as I’m writing this review!! Chevy will not help us at all. The truck has set in shop for 2 months of its life and we brought it in October so do the math. Now we have tried trading the truck off and no dealership wants the truck because of the service history. We use this truck for work and when truck is setting we aren’t making money, the truck has cost us thousands and we can even get a we a sorry from GM. This last Diesel truck we will ever buy from Chevy and this is a far warning to anyone that’s thinking on buying a Chevy pickup.
I have a 2014 Chev Sonic, all 4 wheels are rusted, I went to the GM dealer and he told me that it was poor quality metal because they were made in Korea. Needed to contact GM. After 2 weeks of no news, I contacted GM customer service. They would check into it, 3 weeks later they told me there was no warranty but the dealer would paint them. The dealer said we would order the paint. That was in late June. They have still not contacted me. I went back last week to the dealer because the top center of the rubber steering wheel is worn smooth, not cover and no explication as why. I worked for GM dealers for 37 years and have seen a lot that was passed under warranty that should not have. The car is under 3 years old and less than 50,000 kilometers. I was a GM man all my life but that is over now. Never again.
Hi. My name is Kymberly **, and I purchased a new Chevrolet Cruze at Country Chevrolet in Warrenton, Virginia 20186 on August 31st. I spoke to salesman Russ ** (who was fantastic). He was a huge help. I test drove the vehicle and Loved it. I was asked if I was going to put any money down. I stated that I would not, that I was only working with a trade-in on my Equinox. I decided to get the 2015 Cruze. I was sent to the financial manager to get the contracts and paperwork signed. This is where the nightmare began!!! I dealt with Gabe **. He again asked if I was putting anything down. I told him no. He asked if I could put at least $1500 down. I again, said no that I couldnt. He said why dont we do a 7-day promissory agreement. If you have the $1500 within 7 days great, if not we can void this and do another contract.” I said that was fine, still standing firm to my no.” I signed contracts and the transferring of Insurance. I had full coverage on my Equinox so I drove off the lot with Full Coverage on my 2015 Cruze. The next day I got a text from Russ ** that stated I needed to come back by the dealership that they worked up a better deal for me. Happy and Excited, I went there. I met with Gabe ** again and he stated that he pulled the deal with the Lender and found a second lender that gave me a better rate. I said “oh, that’s great!” I brought up that I needed to sign a new contract because I wasnt going to be able to come up with the $1500. Then Gabe stopped... He said that he was going to have to talk to his boss because he put down for the new lender that I WAS putting the $1500 down. Gabe asked me if I could get a personal loan for $1500, he asked me if I could borrow the money from my family, and he also asked if I could just pay $200 here or there for 6 months to cover the $1500. Gabe left 4 times to speak to his boss (I did not catch his name) because I was adamant that I was not paying that. Gabe went behind my back without me giving him a definite answer on the $1500. He was in the wrong and I felt that I should not have paid that. At this point I was in tears because he had me feeling like I could not leave until I gave him a “Yes, I will pay it.” I was texting my husband throughout this whole ordeal. Finally my husband asked for Gabe to call him. Finally I told Gabe he needed to call my husband. When my husband was on the phone with Gabe I walked outside because I was starting to have an anxiety attack! When I came back in I stood at the doorway where I could not be seen. I overheard Gabe telling my husband that legally I could not leave because I had no insurance on the new vehicle!!! When in fact I did! I signed the form because I HAD full coverage, AND I had already contacted my insurance company and gave them the new Lender information! I was hysterical. I had already drove the car home and everything! My husband then asked to speak to Gabe’s boss who came in. Gabe’s boss walked into something that he had no idea what the hell was going on! So the 4 times that Gabe left to speak to his boss, where was he really going? His boss was informed of the promissory agreement and that I was told I could not legally leave. The boss looked at Gabe and said Gabe is this true? And Gabe said yes. The boss looked at me and said that I could go home. I left hysterical and irate! I almost called the police and an attorney for this. This has been the worst car buying experience EVER! So moving on my husband got a call the next day stating that they redid the deal but we still needed to put $400 down. WHY? I am still upset that we still paid that. I don’t know why we had to pay that. Gabe made this mistake and Gabe did this to himself. I told them I was not going to put any money down at all and still ended up putting $400 down. All of this happened August 31 to Sept 3rd. On Sept 21 I received a text from Gabe stating that my husband and I had to sign a form because my husband’s name was on the title to the old car. I refinanced that about a year or so ago so his name should not have been on the title or loan. I contacted my bank and turns out that when I refinanced it through the same bank, they did not remove my husband’s name. So... that tells me, the car should not have been sold to me in the first place without my husband being there to sign for it as well! Anyhow, I received yet another text from the salesman Russ ** stating Hey Kym, when you get the survey from GM make sure you answer each question Satisfied and when I get that survey Ill fill you up with some gas. That to me is bribery. I gave a very poor review when I got the survey from Country Chevrolet. And I have not received one from GM yet. When and IF I do get one, I will not lie and give any satisfied answers. I was very DISSATISFIED. I would not recommend anyone to go there to get a new vehicle. It takes $26.00 to fill my gas tank up and lying on this survey is not worth a free tank of gas! I felt that I was being taken advantage of because I am a woman who they must have thought I was stupid! My husband saved me from this. And how DARE Gabe ask me to get a personal loan or to borrow the money from family. That is NOT something that man should have asked! He did this! So if anything he should have paid for that or taken it out of his commission. I do not trust anyone there. I will have my car taken somewhere else for work to be done to it. This should have been a very fun and exciting experience for me. Instead it was a complete freaking nightmare. Turns out I’m not the only one Gabe screwed over either. I work with a girl who bought a car from there a week prior to me and he cashed a started check that he was supposed to hold and he ended up overdrawing her account and the salesman paid the overdraft fees AND a tank of gas out of his own pocket! I sure hope something comes from this. I will however contact my attorney regarding this. Paying the $400 dollars is something that should not have come from us since GABE MADE THIS MISTAKE.
Our Chevy Volt grew MOLD all over the front and back seats after winter snowstorms! After taking in to find the cause and have it remedied we were told it needed to be detailed before anyone felt safe getting in it to work. They told us we needed to approve the detailing for them to move forward but not to worry because we most likely would not be charged since it leaked. The next day they called saying it that the mold had been cleaned and that we needed to come pick it up and pay $200!!! A car with mold is NOT fixed with a rag! BAIT and SWITCH! This is an attempt to put the responsibility on us. They even had the nerve to suggest we must have left the windows down in the middle of winter in Washington! Or that my husband left his wet swim trunks ??? (again, winter in Washington!) in the backseat of his commuter car! That did not happen. This is the WORST customer service I have ever experienced. We have been loyal GM customers. I own a GMC Yukon and were in the market for a Sierra pickup, but will never buy another vehicle from them and will not be able to recommend in the future like I have in the past. Instead I will tell people our horror story. GM should be ashamed! This is why companies like Amazon are thriving - because they take care of their customers. Maybe other companies should take notice before theyre obsolete.
Does anyone else have this problem? I bought my 2012 GMC Terrain in Jan 2012. During my first week of owning it, we had some bad snow storms. The state uses a lot of salt to battle ice. When I opened the door, I had some difficulty opening it. When I did get it open, I noticed snow, slush, dirt, etc. at the rocker panel area where the inside bottom of my door meets the vehicle. I showed this twice to the dealership and they mainly stated they had never seen anything like it. Now this summer, the vehicle is leaking dust into the vehicle and builds up mud and dust at the rocker panel area. I took it back to the dealer and they put mud guards to see if they will help. I still see dust and dirt at the rocker panel. Otherwise, I like my Terrain. Please, if anyone is having this problem, I would like to know.
My transmission failed in my Saturn close to 100,000 miles. I bought a remanufactured transmission from GM which cost over $5,000 dollars. Over $1,200 to install. Lasted 16 months and 9,400 miles. GM/Saturn said Im over the year so although Im so far under the mileage they said sorry cant help you. 9,400 miles for over $6,000 dollars. They are selling us defective items and stealing our money. Shame on them and I hope all future consumers boycott GM. They could care less about you and are ripping us off. No more GM products and Im spreading the word to all friends, family, and any way I can get the word out. Everyone I know cant believe how they treat people. Shame on all of you and I hope no one is stupid enough to bail you out again. You dont deserve it.
Im soo disappointed! Ive loved my Chevy up until now. It has been knocking for over 2 years. I know several others that own or have owned the same model as myself. They all have had the same issues! Horrible knocking of the motor. Found out May 8th there is a class action lawsuit against GM for piston wear, causes excessive oil use and knocking. I am within the mileage for repairs at no cost, but they have escaped repairing my vehicle due to the fact they did not send my letter sooner! Now I have a 4000.00 bill! I had planned on purchasing GM again. But never will I never. Ive had 3 recalls and damaged motor due to their production. They do not back their product. This should be handled by them. Please do not purchase GM. They do not take care of their buyers. If I had received my letter sooner It would be covered. Because of them I have a broken car, I have to fix.
I bought a used Equinox in 2015, it was a 2011 model. I loved the SUV. It was my dream ride, lovely interior. Sound ride. Within a year and half, had to replace the transmission, but I was under warranty. Other issues arose where the repairs came out of my pocket. Recently the car was using excessive amounts of oil. I took it to the Waldorf, MD dealership, found out there was an oil consumption issue, the dealership wanted to charge me 6000 to 8000 to repair or replace the engine. The representative on the phone quoted those prices like I could just dig into my unlimited funds and pay this amount. Apparently the assumption is that we all had reams of money laying around to spend. Apparently, the car had a warranty for this issue which expired at 120,000 miles or 7 years. The SUV only had 98,000 miles, but unfortunately for me the clock started on the 7 years the day it was put in the showroom, and not the day I bought it. I reached out to GM and was informed the best they would offer me is 10 percent off the repair work. In the meantime I looked up my issue, and found GM had agreed to settle a lawsuit dealing with this issue, but the suit had not been finalized as of my complaint 10/7/2019. Its, shameful that a company as big as GM, who touts its reputation on producing top notch cars/SUVs and providing excellent customer service, would basically say 10 percent is the best I can do, when there is an outstanding lawsuit. Way to go GMs, you should be proud of yourselves.
My timing chain needs replacing on My 2009 CTS. The code indicated the failure at 93,000.00. The car was properly maintained so I was surprised at this. In researching this I found it is a common known problem with the 3.6 for many models and years. GM refused to have a recall and chose a warranty extension on a few vehicles by VIN number, but left the majority of their customers stuck with $1,000.00 to $1,800.00 bill depending on where it is repaired. I have always supported GM with half of my family having worked for them. I will NEVER buy another GM vehicle, and will discourage all my clients, (approx 1000) and social media followers, another 1200 from trusting GM again. They are unethical.
A year ago we paid $30k for a 2014 Malibu loaded with every option but sunroof. The only problem is it has 36k miles because our family lives out of state. We went to check on trading it because we want an SUV. Car is perfect they tell us its worth $14k now. Either your car is way overpriced or bad enough they dont hold value. Which is it?
Bought a 2020 Chevy Silverado from Rountree Moore Chevy in Lake City Florida May 2020. At 600 miles truck would not start. Sent to dealer, they cleared the computer, sent me on my way. 3-400 miles later did the same thing. Truck came back and they kept the truck for 30+ days waiting on a fuel part. Truck was fixed and got it back in July. November 30 truck did the same thing, would not start, just turns over. Took truck back asked for a buy back (same part broke) or new truck. Dealer told me to call GM, start a claim. I did right then. Just received a call from GM corporate denying the claim saying the dealer has to start a technical claim. Tried to 3 way the dealer in to get all on the same page and the corporate rep hung up during the call. I have been given the runaround from both the dealer and Chevy, Florida laws says this is a lemon, both are trying their best to avoid the situation rather than correct it. Truck has 9000 miles on it, has been in the shop 3 times for the same problem and has been in the shop more than 30 days total. I spent days of my time dealing with it, spent $55,000 and its only 8 months old. Think twice before buying a GM product. I guess I am forced to hire help now. All I can do is share my experience and hope good people learn from it. Thank You.
I bought a car in 2012. It was a 2010 Chevy cobalt and I have had nothing but problems out of this car since Ive had it. I ask if they could do an even trade, they said no. I paid 13000.00 for this car and to this day I still have problems with this car. I will never buy from this dealership again. I will go somewhere else before I ever go there again.
