2010 Buick LaCrosse had 94000 but was seven months pass warranty (5) years. November 17, the engine blew. Returned it to my dealership, no help. Text GM on the internet twice no response. 7200 dollar bill to replace the engine. Car had been well maintained. Why did I buy an American made car.
No recall on defective fuel line on Chevy Express Van - Fuel supply line leading to gas tank rusted through. Gasoline leaks from the fuel line during fill up. Also, gasoline vapor would fill the passenger compartment. This is a potentially explosive situation. I reported to this to GM who said there was no recall and refused to pay for it. Ironically the replacement part is now plastic, so GM must know it was defective and prone to rust.
One of our fleet vehicles died at a parking lot in the suburbs of Chicago. It was a 2012 Chevy Express. I drove over the next day to try and start it. I was unable to start it so I called Chevy Roadside Assistance to arrange a tow to a dealership. The fastest time that any of their tow contractors could pick up the vehicle was 90 minutes. It was 2:45 PM when we booked that, so they were expected at 4:15 PM. 4:15 PM came and went, and I called the tow provider, a company called Superior Towing. They placed me on hold and left me there for 20 minutes, so I hung up and called Chevy back. Chevy called Superior and told me they were on their way and it would be another 20 minutes. I expected Superior to be at the location at around 5 PM at this point. Well, 5 PM flew by and still no tow driver had appeared, so I called Superior again, and was placed on hold for 20 minutes again. I hung up and called Chevy (5:20 PM by this point). Chevy left me on hold for another 20 minutes and came back saying that they could not get through to Superior Towing. They asked if I wanted to try and reschedule with another tow provider. I said ok, how long until a different tow driver could be here. The representative checked and said, between 2-4 hours (7:45-9:45 PM). I needed to be towed to a dealer about 45 minutes away that gates their lot after 8 PM on Mondays, so that didnt work. I asked to reschedule to the tow for the following day at 2 PM. The representative was very nice and said that she would make sure the same company was not used for the next day and that she would file a complaint against that business for not showing up.The next day, I sent one of the company employees out to the van at 1:30 PM. I didnt want to leave the van unlocked with the keys in it overnight because it is parked in kind of an iffy neighborhood. The tow driver was supposed to show up at 2PM. 2PM came and went with no driver. My employee called me and I called Chevy. They checked and told me that the tow company had lost the paperwork for the tow, but would be sending someone out. I asked what company was coming and they said Superior Towing, the same company from the day before that they specifically said they would not use. At this point, I was extremely frustrated and asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor was extremely unhelpful. All she did was reiterate what I already knew. She had no solutions beyond scheduling with another tow company (2-4 hour wait). I asked if I could schedule my own tow and get reimbursed and she said yes, but the company only reimburses up to $100. That would barely get the van on the back of a truck, much less to the dealership. So after doing absolutely nothing for me, she transferred me back to the main line where the representative set me up with another tow company that will supposedly be out within 2 hours. In total, Ive wasted 2 hours of my own and now 3 hours of another employees time waiting for their tow contractors to show up. It would have cost us less money to pay another tow company full price to come out and tow the vehicle. Honestly, Roadside Assistance has cost our company money instead of helping us out. I could not be less satisfied with their service. Also, I just wanted to add that this is the second time weve used the service. The first time the company was supposed to show up by 6 to take the van to that same dealership, but came over 2 hours late and then couldnt get in because the lot was gated after 8PM. That tow driver took the vehicle to their personal lot and we had a heck of a time trying to get them to bring it to the dealership. If memory serves me correctly, it took at least another 2 days to get them to bring it to where it was supposed to go.
My transmission failed in my Saturn close to 100,000 miles. I bought a remanufactured transmission from GM which cost over $5,000 dollars. Over $1,200 to install. Lasted 16 months and 9,400 miles. GM/Saturn said Im over the year so although Im so far under the mileage they said sorry cant help you. 9,400 miles for over $6,000 dollars. They are selling us defective items and stealing our money. Shame on them and I hope all future consumers boycott GM. They could care less about you and are ripping us off. No more GM products and Im spreading the word to all friends, family, and any way I can get the word out. Everyone I know cant believe how they treat people. Shame on all of you and I hope no one is stupid enough to bail you out again. You dont deserve it.
I purchased a new 2014 Chevy Malibu. Have been taking excellent care of it, oil changes regularly, etc. At 50,000 miles the engine locked up... no warning. Just quit while cruising along on my way to work. Now GM is replacing the engine with a reman but said my starter went out too and that isnt covered under the powertrain warranty and will cost $630. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER GM vehicle. Never. Engine replacement at 50K miles and I have to pay $650 and pay for my own car rental!? They should put in a NEW engine, starter and provide a loaner for free!!! Not happy with my lemon at all.
I am a GM retiree. I visited David Stanley Chevrolet in Norman back 3 months ago. I was interested in leasing a vehicle like a Malibu, talked to the salesman and told him what I was looking for and he said he would locate a vehicle and give me some information. Well that never happened. Never heard a word. So last month went back to the same dealership and talked to another salesman, drove a Malibu and told him what I was looking for a lease, I was a GM employee. He said that he was busy with a client but would get back to me later that day. 3 weeks later, I received a call from the dealership saying he was sorry he forgot about me but had worked up something and I could come in and see what he had. Well I figured if he does not have time for me then I would go somewhere else.Christmas Eve day, I stepped into Jackie Cooper Cadillac in Norman. The salesman said he only had 9 months experience but would get me a great deal. Found a SUV on the showroom floor and asked how much would the lease would be on that vehicle. He told me that I could get the lease payment for $350.00 a month. Well I questioned him again and asked how much do I have to put down on the vehicle and was told $0. I asked him again if he was sure I could get that vehicle for $350.00 a month lease with no money down? Was assured again that I could, so I said lets do the paperwork and I will take delivery today. He told me great and got me in the Finance Dept. to do the paperwork. After going through the paperwork and signing everything, I was informed that the lease payment would be $550.00 a month. I looked at the finance manager and asked, What about the $350 lease that I was told by your salesman? He said that there was no way I could get a lease for that amount unless I was ready to put down almost $4000.00. I informed the finance manager that I was told I could get this lease for $350.00 a month. After being informed that there was no way I could get the vehicle, I informed the Manager that they had some training to do with their staff because they gave me the wrong information and I was very upset after wasting 2 to 3 hours dealing with new cars sales people. I walked out, never I am sorry, please come back and see what we can work on. So now I go to Ferguson GMC in Norman and inquire about a truck. They had advertised a truck in the paper for $25999.00. So I went out to take a look to see what they had to offer. Jeff the new cars sales Manager told me that since I was a GM employee I could pick out anything I wanted and that I would get a better price then what was advertised because of all the rebates and GM discounts that I was entitled to. So this salesman takes me out and asked what I was looking for and I told him I would like to have 4 wheel drive and towing package. Found a vehicle and went to the finance dept. to see what they could do. Well after spending a couple of hours doing paperwork, my payment would be $550.00 a month. I told them that I wanted the truck that they advertised and was told that I could not get that deal with 4 wheel drive. I said, Ok, lets see what you can do, so I told them that I had an appointment that I had to go to so find a truck and give me a call. So a few hours later, I get a call from Daniel from finance and he asked me if I could come in and see what they found for me. I told him that I had to go to a performance that evening and he asked if I could come in on Saturday around 10:30am. I said fine. I was feeling bad because it was 10 minutes to 11am and I do not like to have people waiting for me. So I go to the showroom floor and asked for Daniel, and after about 20 minutes I was informed that Daniel does not start working till noon. I told the manager that I was asked to be there at 10:30am to look at this truck that Daniel wanted me to see. Again I was told that Daniel does not come to work till noon. So they asked if someone else could help, I said no because apparently no one knows what Daniel had put aside for me, so I told him to have them call me when they think they can get their act together. About 4pm, I receive a call from the salesman that helped me out the 1st time I came to the store. He informed me that they had a truck for me to look at and could I come in... I said I would see. The following Monday, I get a call from Jeff the new car Manager, he said please come out and look at a truck that he had set aside for me. I told him I would be right there. He said make sure you ask for Jeff because he would treat me right. I asked Jeff if these trucks that they were advertising had fog lamps, he said, I am looking at them and they all have fog lamps. I asked, How many do you have left at that sales price? and he said 7 or 8. So again I go out to the store and Jeff told me he was with a customer and just give him a few minutes, I said no problem. A few minutes later, Jeff came back out and said it was taking longer than he expected, I said no problem. About 10 minutes later, Jeff came back and said, Would it be all right if I hand you off to a salesman? I said all right, so the salesman said he would go get the truck and pull it up for me. The truck that they brought out did not have fog lamps. So I asked about the advertised special with fog lamps, and the salesman said he had no idea what the advertisement had. So I went back to Jeff and asked about the fog lamps and he said, No problem, I will put fog lamps on that for you... I said, You told me that you had all kinds of trucks with fog lamps on it, and he said, I guess I was mistaken. So I asked, How many trucks do you have for the advertise special? and he said, I guess you are looking at it. Well I was again upset and told them that they were wasting my time when you tell me you a lot of trucks with the fog lamps and you had 7 or 8 vehicles that I could look at, and he said what you see is all that they have. So I walked out of the 3rd facility that sells GM vehicles. I really did not know that GM was doing that good and could afford to lose customers but seems to me that they could care less if I bought a vehicle from them or not. So I guess I will have to go to look at a competitor since GM does not know how to treat their customers.
I crashed my 98 GMC Safari van into my garage when the ABS came on at a low speed. I replaced the sensors. Now it works but has a damaged bumper, and I have a damaged garage! I also have a 2000 Chevy Astro van that is now doing the same thing!
I bought a 2010 Chevy Equinox 2 years ago and in the last 6 months, I have had nothing but issues. In January I had to have my timing belts replaced (under warranty), then in April there was a issue with the motor using too much oil. They had to replace half the motor (which was under a special warranty). Fast forward to last week, the transmission went!!! I took it back to the dealership just to find out that the 5 yr warranty had expired in the beginning of the month (never knew this was only good from the first time it was bought off the lot.) The dealership was able to get GM to cover a portion of it but I would still have to pay $1600 out of pocket. I feel that they should cover more than that stating all the issues I have been having.I called GM and spoke with a Kathy. She pretty much told me that I should be grateful that they are helping me at all and I can either take the offer or leave it. And that I should discuss with my family the best choice for us as the consumer. Appalling customer service, when asked to speak to someone higher up she told me that she was pretty high up and the decision is already made. I will never buy another Chevy. Buyer beware!
Product Safety recall 08411 fuel system control module - Turns out the fuel system control module failed on my GM SUV, exactly like they said in the recall notice, however since my trucks VIN # is only a few units past the group of numbers they assumed to be the bad ones, no help at the dealer. I sent a note to GM, still waiting on a response.
I have a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado. Transmission went out 200 miles out of warranty. Never hauled or pulled anything out of the ordinary or out of what the specs allow for the truck. Obviously being a issue with transmission before the warranty was up, GM refuses any assistance at all. Said because I didnt buy it from a GM dealership, there is nothing they will do. So please be very careful buying any GM vehicle from anyone. They will not stand behind what they make, and you will be treated the same way I was.
I have a 2012 GMC Acadia slt fwd. I have had over $12,000 done to this vehicle in just under 2 yrs at this time. Repairs are as follows: Front cover and rear main seal with motor mounts. Cylinder head replace due to oil in the spark plug tubes. All 6 fuel injectors replaced 3 at the dealer and 3 I DID myself. When the dealer DID the 3 they DID not change the oil (fuel was in the oil). After one day of driving the vehicle engine started to knock real bad (That is when I found out that the dealer DID not change the oil and the fuel dried the bearings inside the motor. One of the bearings spun on the cam shaft and put metal shaving in the engine.). New create engine was order the day after I got the vehicle back. The high pressure fuel pump on the engine failed and DID the same thing as the injector DID but DID not put as much fuel in the oil. Now that the vehicle is out of the factory warranty gm does not want to go back to one of the work orders and review the issue I had complained about at one point. The vehicle rpms fluctuate at low speeds between 1-2k rpm. Vehicle has a hard time pulling itself up a hill or on flat ground. The other one is vehicle feels rough until over 2k rpm. When we went to pick the vehicle up when they called us the service writer said that they could not reproduce the concern at that time. I believe the tech really DID not drive the vehicle and find the issue or DID not want to do anything under the factory warranty and that is why they said that. This is the worst I have been treated by a high corporation in not taking car of the customers issues. Now that the vehicle is out of warranty gm cares does not want to have anything to do with me, my wife or even the vehicle. They only care about the vehicles that are still under the warranty. The problem I am having now is that the torque converter is messed up and when the tech drove it in Aug he DID not feel anything due to he DID not drive the vehicle for a long enough time to feel the issue or DID not drive it the way the work order says when it happens.I am very unhappy for the way gm cares handled this issue. I think that they should put me out of the vehicle and put me into something different to keep me buying gm vehicle. If they do not help me I will not buy another one for the rest of my life. And I will make sure gm does not get any more money from me. I used to be all about gm and now I am turning to more like a toyota family instead of a gmc, chevrolet, and buick. I cant take anymore of gm bullcrap at this time. The torque converter from the dealer is around $1,800 for the work and part. I do not have that kind of money floating around like that. Gm just need to fix my vehicle under one of the work orders. Is possible to get it fixed without me having to pay for anything.
If you think you would like have a car that runs and gets you where you need to be, dont buy Chevrolet! If you do, and the repairs become so much that it would cost more than the car is worth (even if youre still paying on it), dont call GMs customer assistance center, cause they dont care. Do you have a warranty? Thats all they want to know. Too bad this thing wont let me leave these categories as ZERO stars.
My husband and I went to Victory Chevrolet and purchased a certified preowned 2012 Chevrolet Traverse in February 2015. There was 36000 miles on this vehicle. The day we brought it home we had to wait for them to change the fuel tank. We also found when replacing a tire we found that there was no spare or jack in our car. If I’m not mistaken as a certified GM vehicle it should have not left the lot without this. I’m sure you can understand my frustration. We have had to fix the window washer motor at least 6 headlights and a tail light. The passenger window does not roll up from driver side only down. The button for the window washer no longer works. We had to replace the radiator two years into the car. I’ve paid for a accelerator brake pedal sensor. Now my biggest issue is timing chains and all associated parts now need to be repaired at a cost of 2800+.I was working with Mark Chevrolet in Wayne. It took 3 weeks to just find this out. The person I was working with never called me to give me any info on my car that was there. I always had to call him. He has been released but I have been fighting with GM to just call and speak with me. My suppose IT agent Michelle won’t get on the phone with me. I was told from Bob the service manager at Mark Chevrolet that I was declined for cost assistance from GM and offered $300 discount on my repair. I’m not happy with that. I am paying for a loaner on top of other rental car costs I have had. We thought we had a good car and it is not. In the 3 years we have had this car I’ve put way too much in repairs and I feel GM should be able to help its customer. This is our first Chevy and it’s been such a horrible experience. I never want to purchase another one. No one is helping or even listening to us. We are being talked down to and at. This is not fair. I am writing all our local news station because I have exhausted all I can with my fight. I have include screenshots of my fight with GM and Mark Chevrolet of Wayne. I also have voicemails that I have saved. I am a small business owner that relies on my car to provide for my family. I have spent well beyond my limits to repair my car. But this email is more about my experience with GM and their service than anything else. I have been told to have a Change of Heart when posting my experience. Told to Apologize for blowing up ONLY after almost weeks of not being able to actually speak to MY GM agent. I have only voicemails when my phone is in complete working order. I believe they are using some type of method to circumvent speaking directly to me. As I will return their call less than a minute from receiving a voicemail and now no one is available to speak with me. GM has denied me Cost assistance, charging me for a loaner car that I had no choice but to use while waiting over 3 weeks to just have a partial diagnosis of my car issues. I am not trying to be difficult. I am just trying to use the car I purchased 3 years ago from a Chevrolet Dealership.
Bought a 2017 Silverado from Clark’s, after 8 month agonizing experience with a dealer who ran me around with excuses, charged me for repairs which had nothing to do with the flawed product they sold me, even though it was under warranty, which is a joke by the way. They kept telling me they didn’t know what was wrong with the vehicle and after many trips there basically told me it’s up to me and GM to solve. By all the reviews I’ve read about this treatment of their customers it sounds like it’s a trend. I wouldn’t recommend a GM product to anybody with this lack of concern about their customers or their product in which they do not stand behind. Id rate them a negative 5 stars.
Lease a GMC 2014 Terrain, 14000 miles on it. Go in for scheduled maintenance after the 2 year of free SM. Oil change, rotate the usual. I have coupons on the GMC app. He tells me I need the frictionizer, Ok. $90.00 dollars later, driving an hour and a half, washer fluid completely dry. Problem: Do I trust them and my kids safety, no. Freezing dirt 65 may, no way to clear the windshield. Cant use coupon that is on the app that you use to schedule the maintenance. Hmm do I go back? Probably not. If they miss 1 thing why not 10? Tired of bad service and excuses. When you pay for a product that expensive you better get what you pay for because if you dont... BAD BUSINESS. Thanks.
I bought a new engine $2200.00 from GM. I noticed damage on the block after installing at my expense. It should never have been sold. They say they will replace it. I have to remove and install it again at my expense. I was told it didnt matter if I put it in or the dealer, the same warranty applies. GM sucks. I am finished with them.
This vehicle was purchased new, great power and super comfy. After the first week or so it was in the shop every other week *suspension problem* over and over. Then electrical connections. Now the warranty is up, tail light problems ($750) each. Now the info screen is black. Its just ridiculous a luxury vehicle at this price has this many issues.
I own a 2 year old Buick Envision. I heard a noise coming from under the vehicle at only 7k miles. The dealership and GM continually told me nothing was wrong. I did not give up. It took months but they finally determined there was a loose baffle in the exhaust. They finally replaced the exhaust. Dealing with them was extremely difficult. Very recently when leaving for vacation with bikes mounted on the back of the vehicle the car battery was dead. Nothing was left on and the vehicle is supposed to be protected from accessories remaining on and draining the battery. Again, GM is not standing behind the vehicle. The dealerships have prepared or canned answers for everything as to avoid making good on the warranty. As a professional buyer and car enthusiast I cannot recommend anyone buy a GM vehicle. You will not have the warranty you think you have and the vehicles experience more problems than other cars.
I called GM customer service to get an understanding to why the 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix have not been recalled. My ignition cylinder, ignition switch & wiring had to be replaced, the wiring had melted which could have resulted in a fire. I expressed this with the customer service, moreover the overwhelming complaints found on the internet. The best they could do was note it in their computer system and IF they decided to recall the year I would be notified. It is a sad and sick day when a company who is already being sued for not acknowledging safety issues previously will continue to turn a blind eye to such a massive issue. It says a lot about how much they value business and safety of their products and customers.
Bought a new 2013 3500HD Duramax Diesel that doesnt get driven a great deal. Just over 20K miles and both Knock Sensors failed along with other Diesel Exhaust components. > $700 to replace sensors. Contacted GM and they tell me to read the Owners Manual on Warranty - 36 Months. Not the first issue with sensors on this vehicle. My first new Chevrolet purchase ever and most likely the last. Happy with my 2003 Toyota Tundra with > 300K miles on it and no sensor problems. Stay away from GM.
2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Z71. Since the vehicle was picked up at the dealer, the truck was pulling to the right. Not drifting, it was pulling. Wasted time out of my day and brought it back to the dealer. They aligned the front end. When picked up it was still pulling to the right. I decided to bring it to a dealer closer to my office and they aligned the front end again and rotated the tires. Lo and behold, still pulling. I dropped it off again and they adjusted the steering sensor and rotated the tires from left to right. Still pulling. I called GM and after being on hold for over 45 minutes they told me they would look into it. 4 days later they called me and said it might be the tires and they are not covered under warranty that I would have to contact Goodyear. I have no idea what to do next. My advice: STAY AWAY FROM GM PRODUCTS. THEY DONT CARE ONE BIT ABOUT THEIR PRODUCTS OR CUSTOMERS.
Tedd Britt Chevrolet (Sterling, VA) and General Motors has given me the run around. They have shown gross negligence by refusing to replace my newly purchased 2020 Silverado 1500. I have been tossed around from manager to manager, from advisor to advisor. Nobody wants to be the one caught with the customer (me) in a potential lawsuit:I have put less than 15,000 miles on the vehicle, hardly owned six months. First owner. The vehicle has been in FIVE TIMES for various electrical issues including brake system failures (x3), and most recently the vehicle shut off while I was traveling +60mph. I fear for my safety. See attached invoice photos. Their staff sees you as a number - a price tag. Their “Customer Experience Manager” did not even look at me, he talked over me, and downright refused to help me - would not even give me the customer service phone number. He said it was not his problem. Incredible. Don’t waste your time, or your safety. Buy a Ford.
I am reasonably convinced that GM does not take pride in their work. My 2015 Chevy Equinox has a couple of design flaws that make this obvious. The front bumper is too low and seem intentionally designed to catch on standard parking bumper blocks. Not having key on the rear hatchback prevented me from being able to get my jumper cables out when my battery went dead and the electric locks would not work! The oil filter in an inconvenient location for consumer use. It also requires a special crows foot wrench to remove the filter housing. The electrical system goes haywire when the battery is low. What a nuisance. Try taking pride and does things right. Youll sell more cars!
I own a 2012 GMC Terrain that is covered by a GMPP. The vehicle is 5 years old and has 28K miles on it. I noticed some mold growing in the carpet. The cause turned out to be a broken drain tube in the sunroof. The GMPP is a bumper to bumper coverage not covering maintenance items or wearables. This part is neither, yet GM refuses to warrant the repair in any way. Anyone who purchases a GM product has rocks in their head. This is my last GM product.
In October I filed a complaint with Consumer Affairs and since then I got my car fixed at the same dealership and got cheated. In October when I bought the vehicle there was a problem with the steering and I mentioned to the sale guy and manager several times. Finally after many tries they decide to fix the steering. A month of owning the vehicle, the air went out. I went back and was told it, they have to fix two issues, one with the fan where there is a short in the wiring and the other was a hose from the compressor to condenser. Originally it was going to cost me $984 and the Sales manager took off about $200 which made it around $761. I called GM and file a complaint with them and the Service manager Michael called me and offer a 20% discount to fix both issues which made it $561. I called GM and express my concern and received another call from Michael where he advised me that he fixed the issue with the fan sometime back and didnt charge me but he had to still pay his tech. Now that I am getting the air fix he includes that charge for what they fixed at the time as no charge, but now there is a charge. On my invoice only showed the air being fixed. I need an invoice that shows the work that was done. Also, I will file a complaint with Consumer Affairs and BBB. I will never recommend anyone to come to this dealer.
I bought a 2011 Equinox in April 2014 with 58,000 miles on it. Was talked into spending an extra $2000 on an extended warranty so I paid almost $20,000 for this car. A year later (April 2015) I took it in to have it inspected and because there was a ticking noise coming from the motor. Come to find out I needed to have the timing chain replaced. On top of that I ended up having to have 4 new tires put on it because the idiot that had the car before me ran the tire flat and never told anyone so it ruined the tire. I didnt get any help with paying for 4 new tires from the dealership. Then in July 2015 I took it back to the dealership for the same ticking noise. Well come to find out I needed new rings, pistons, and a cylinder head. So they replaced that. All under warranty of course. Then in February 2016 I started having issues with it starting so we thought it was just a battery so I spent $135 on a new battery. Well a week later the car wouldnt start in my driveway. We couldnt get it started so we had to have it towed at our own expense ($75) even though our extended warranty has AAA. Come to find out the starter was cracked so they replaced that under my extended warranty. Well come to find out you still have a $100 deductible on a warranty after you spend $2000 on it. Ridiculous if you ask me. Well a week and half later I went out to start the car for work and it was dead, wouldnt start. That night my boyfriend managed to get it started so we didnt have to have it towed. Come to find out there was a negative grounding cable that was bad that we had to have replaced. Well that same day I got the car back I got stranded at our local supermarket because my car wouldnt start. So now as we speak I still dont have my vehicle. I have called GM on several occasions starting with the problems last year and now called several times this year with the starting problems. No one returns phone calls or emails and they dont seem as if they want to be helpful. I work full-time, got to college part-time for my bachelors degree and have a 2-year-old daughter at home. Why should I feel like I am going to get stranded every time I want to go somewhere. Living in NYS you never know what the weather is going to be. What if I got stranded with my daughter and it was freezing cold outside. All I want is a resolution with this car but the dealership nor GM seems to want to help. Its ridiculous that you pay that kind of money for a car and have these issues not even 2 years into owning it. This is my first GM vehicle I have ever bought and I will NEVER purchase another. I have also drive Toyotas, Subarus and I even drove a Mazda and even though they were all used I never had any issues like this. So here is a good idea GM maybe you need to start supporting your customers a little better and maybe your business wouldnt be going to **.
Purchased used vehicle in 2015. 1 year later transmission failed (2008 Saturn Vue XR). Turns out to be 3-5-r waveplate. Part was not heat treated to spec in this year’s vehicle (faulty part). Should have been a recall for this problem. GM finally honored coverage of said repairs but only 120,000 miles or less. My vehicle had 123,000 miles when this happened. GM would not honor repairs even though the said faulty part was installed into transmission during assembly.
As GM is fully aware of the noisy leaf spring issues with 2014-2018 Silverados and Sierras, BUT refuses to do anything about it. Talking to the local dealership (Davis Chevrolet-Gainesville, FL) was a real joke and of course getting an actual person to call back from Chevrolet Customer Assistance 866-790-5600 Extension: ** is a real joke. Always been a Chevy fan, my whole family has, but will shop for a Ford next time. What happened to a company that actually backs their products?!!! Lets be sure to outsource more so we can get more crappy products.
It has been 3 months since GM has classified our truck as a lemon, and still do not have a replacement truck. After complying with documents 3 times to Henry and getting little to no help we were turned over to Sean who has only been slightly better. If you ask to speak to his supervisor first he will then call you back, then today being told by Sean that he contacted the Dealership about ordering us a new truck, then checking with that dealership and being read the emails from Sean this was not the case. I was told that we had to find a like truck and send the VIN # which I have but the truck is sold by the time Sean gets around to replying to the emails I send. This whole experience has caused extreme hardship as I need the truck to tow our trailer to Houston for my Husbands cancer treatments and it has been a financial burden driving and paying for Hotels as well as compromising my Husbands health by staying in Hotels, etc. All we want is a truck to replace the Lemon Truck we have so I can keep my Husband safe in our own trailer.
My NEW 2020 Chevrolet Traverse purchased October 2019 has had the following issues: malfunction in wheel assembly (scary), emissions issues, back doors offset, paint peeling on Chevy bow, defective tire gauge, electrical issues, and recalls. Car under 1 year old and no accidents. I will NEVER buy another Chevrolet Traverse.
GMC pickup trucks - My oil pressure sending unit went bad at almost exactly 100000 miles and it cost me $500.00 to have it replaced at the dealer... also the steering sensor is bad because the stability and traction lights are on on the dash. The cost to fix that is also $500.00 to replace. Don’t you think that is bad for an 80 year old man to pay? Or don’t you people care?
Contacted Smail GMC in Greensburg, PA. to have gooseneck hitch installed on my wifes brand-new GMC 3500hd she purchased from Laura GMC, and Smail GMC would only install hitch if we purchased truck from them. Little frustrating, we have supported General Motors and are children of a GM manufacturing family.
Their customer service team doesnt return phone calls, when you finally get ahold of someone, they have absolutely no concern or care for their customers. My $50,000 truck had a transmission issue at just over 70k miles because of the OE fluid and GMC offered me a $50 off coupon for my next visit. No offer to take care of the expense caused by a subpar fluid put in at the factory. Their tech service bulletin specifically stated the first step to the repair was replace the OE fluid with Mobile 1 transmission fluid, if that doesnt correct the issue, replace the torque converter. This is a well known problem and yet they leave their loyal customers to absorb the repair expenses.
Why is it when the recalls on Pontiac hit the news, oh GM did this and GM did that but the other problems are for people who have these cars financed? You go through KBB or Auto-trader for a quote on what your car is worth and its nowhere near what you owe on the car even with a less than 4% finance rate. Even with your car being in great shape, you still cant get what its worth but then you check the dealerships for the same car and its 4000, 5000, even as much as 6000 more than your KBB and Auto Trader and these cars arent in as good of shape as yours. This is another problem that GM has caused and the dealerships are being paid to fix the cars by GM and then clearing $4000.00 or more on the sales of these cars. Its not right to the persons who have to pay for these cars to never get back what the cars are worth. Come on, GM. Step up and buy these cars back and then you try to sell them and see how quick your mistakes are putting the blue collar man in the hole.
My 2013 GMC Terrain has turned into the worst investment I have ever made. The abs light keeps coming on along with the stabilitrak light. When this happens the abs activates and the car doesnt stop well. Also this error code shuts off the all wheel drive. This is a major safety issue and when I brought it to the dealer they said its a bearing and the hub needs to be replaced at my cost. So when I called gm I spoke to senior service advisor who assured me they would contact the dealer and assist me with the cost. After some 30 phone calls Mary sr#** never returned my call nor did she contact the dealer. So I called and spoke to someone else who told me that gmc was not going to help me and that I could not escalate the problem any further. I drive my kids around in this car and due to the safety issue I have no choice but to get the repair completed at more than $400 cost. I think the service is the worst part of the whole thing. I will be sure to tell everyone I know not to buy from gm, they do not care about their customers at all. My next car will be a Honda.
Ive had a horrible experience with GM customer service. The commercials and information put out by GM/Chevrolet completely contradicts its customer service standard. When my car had an issue I tried emailing and received emails with incorrect grammar from representatives. They asked me to explain what I wanted, when I had detailed a request for a refund and information on the failure in the original email. I then moved on to calling. Their customer service is contracted out and they admit they cant take any action on certain issues. They only provide an address if you ask for a contact at GM. They fully expect you to just give up on the issue by the third phone call. Each tier/level up I went, the person was ruder. I never once raised my voice, but at one point I was trying not to get emotional because the two failures of the part put me in life threatening situations.I had a part installed on my vehicle by a Chevrolet dealership in 2014 after my car lost power on the interstate. In 2017 the part failed AGAIN. In both situations I was traveling at 65/70mph and the loss of power was immediate. Monica, Charlene, Octavia, and Greg were emotionless the entire call. The dealerships said I had to go through GM to get a refund, and it was a nightmare. I am educated in the legal field, the negligence on the part on GM/Chevrolet is appalling. I have documented everything and filed a complaint with the NHTSA. I hope to have some resolution, as I still believe the car is unsafe. I never once felt reassured by the customer service team.
My 2015 Silverado 1500 broke down with 39,000 Miles on it. I had it towed to a Chevrolet Dealership. When they looked at it they told me it was the Fuel Injector on cylinder 6 that was faulty. Because it was out of the 3 year/36,000 Mile warranty I would have to pay for it myself. I told them I understood and would pay for it since it was out of warranty. They then told me that since the vehicle was apart that I should replace the Fuel Rail and ALL the other Fuel injectors on that side in case they were bad too. I didnt think it sounded right, but since I brought it right to the dealer I figured I should trust their opinion. I replaced everything they said which came out to $1,300. Mind you this is a truck with 39,000 miles on it. It gets worse. Once they put it back together they told me it still wasnt running right. They kept trying to figure out what was wrong with the vehicle because they couldnt figure it out originally. After they replaced the fuel injector they told me it wasnt working again. They then replaced the pushers, still wasnt working properly. After that they decided they needed to call the GM Engineers to figure it out. Once they were called they found out that the entire cylinder needed to be replaced. It took them 3 times putting it back together totaling 2 weeks without me having a vehicle to figure it out. Im not even blaming the dealership because I can understand that things happen. My real problem is with GM themselves because I called them after this all happened to explain the situation. I got in touch with a woman named Sandra. I was explaining to her that I should not be liable for the fuel injectors seeing as they obviously let go due to the issues that happened from the warrantied parts. She took almost two weeks to come to the conclusion that even though I did fuel injector cleaners with all my oil changes that it was still me that should be on the hook for all the repairs, even the fuel injectors that never needed to be replaced at all! I told her that I can even understand replacing the one that was bad, even though that it was done based on a poor diagnostics. In all reality had they fixed the problems in the motor first I would have never paid for the fuel injectors. It seems to me that they brought up the fuel injectors first just so they could charge me for them and then say that there are other problems that need to be addressed. She wanted to give me a $100 Chevrolet service coupon! Really?! I now have a truck with an extensive amount of motor work done on it with 39,000 miles. This is how GM backs their vehicles? Disgusting, that is all I can say about my experience with GM to this point.
Dart motors are american made. We used Chevy Crate motors for power, 454 cu. in. V8 Big-Blocks, but as all things Chevy it was recast differently to save monies, thinner casting. Then the blocks started to crack, vertical lines in the cylinders after approx. 100 hours use. No junk. Time to move on now to 350 CID v8, burns oil out the box on fire up. Use approx. one qt. oil every 20 to 30 minutes. Called Victory Chevy in Ft. Myers, FL for warranty: No you need to call GM at ** This was a joke. Was told it is my intake gasket. I have been building same products, same parts for 25 plus years. Said needed to pull intake and take photos of intake gasket on motor. Pulled intake, no oil in intake runners, gasket perfect so I pulled heads, oil on top of #s 3-5 and 7. Piston #7 the worst, so pulled piston meat on, piston between ring lands, broke out 3 inch piece. This has happened on two of the last 4 motors. We now use only Dart Motors, no more problems. Other problems to watch for, rings hammered into cylinder, no bolts in cam timing, gear lifters come apart. 100 hrs. no impeller in water pump or impeller spins on shaft. This is poor quality control. Have now learned what GMC stands for: General Mexican Crap. Good bye Chevy!!! Captain Mitch.
On October 28 I made a deal to purchase a new 2017 GMC crew cab 1500 Z71. At that time I put a thousand dollars down to hold the vehicle and signed a contract stating the price will not change unless come November 1 GMC changes any rebates. On November 1st I called my salesman to let him know I was coming in November 2nd to pay cash for the truck and asked for a total amount due including tax and title, which at the time was CONFIRMED as being the AGREED amount when I put money down to hold the truck because the rebates had not changed November 1st by General Motors. When I came in to pay for the truck November 2nd the price had increased over $2400.00 which Dennis Dillon stated GMC had actually taken off some cash back incentive on that particular VIN #... I asked for a meeting to speak with upper management which I could not get for a few days stating he had sent a text of the situation at hand... My salesman said it would not make a difference and the price was not going to adjust and basically either buy it or dont. They sell so many vehicles daily it wont matter what was signed and agreed upon previously because this is General Motors doings and out of Dennis Dillon control. I personally feel my wife and I were mislead and there is some dishonesty involved because when all the rebates were presented to me and my wife at the time of money collected and a signed purchase agreement to hold the truck, never was this hidden GMC rebate EVER discussed nor a factor in the pricing of the vehicle???? So I had GMC accessories installed on the truck before I picked it up and set up the way I wanted it and we still bought the truck!!! Figuring we would get some answers from the dealership later when we reached out or GMC on their survey report which I still have not received?!! It was a horrible experience especially being a Ford consumer switching to General Motors. I have reached out to upper management at Dennis Dillon since the purchase trying to get an honest response to my concerns and I have yet to be contacted back after several attempts, even after filling out their survey they sent for my experience! I would like to see if there is ANYONE at General Motors that can explain this to me as being true or if Dennis Dillon was being dishonest throwing General Motors under the Rug as the bad guy to increase a sale. If not then why was this hidden rebate by General Motors never mentioned as a potential rebate I could lose come the first of November affecting the price change of the vehicle by over $2400.00? Had I known this I would have purchased the vehicle before November 1st because my salesman said he highly doubted the rebates to change.
I am a former executive of GM. While employed, I cautioned management via the PEP Program that for years GM has not fixed a problem with their driving lights on many of their vehicles. After a few years, at least one or both white driving lights burns out usually from a hot socket, Im told. Ive owned several GM vehicles and presently drive a Yukon among them. For years knowing my years with GM, my friends and acquaintances often tell me, You can most always tell/bet the GM vehicle approaching you with at least one driving light out is a GM truck, crossover, etc. at least 90%+ of the time. I have no answer as to why for years this kind of on-going negative on-road advertising has been allowed to exist, do you? If its a supplier wiring harness issue, lets fix it as no amount of TV and other media positive advertising can overcome a day and night visible problem that gets most peoples constant attention and commentary. (In short, would any of us re-buy vehicles that after a few years, long before their lifetime runs their course, visibly advertise that they have a rather simple visible fix that seems to be an endemic GM problem? I think not!) Like Forrest Gump is noted as saying, Stupid is as stupid does. For all our GM families sake, investigate and fix as appropriate this seemingly forever on the road negative adverting. I am Randolph **, GMs past General Director of Information Security, previously located in the Ren Cen for many years.
In Oct 2013, my wife and I purchased a new 2013 Sonic sedan. A few months later it developed a creaking noise in the steering at low speeds as well as a scrunching noise in the rear when sitting in the car each time. The dealer tried unsuccessfully to fix it on several occasions in which the car spent about 6 weeks at the dealership. They swapped out parts from other cars, replaced new parts; all unsuccessful. After owning the car for 6 months I had had enough so I traded it on a 2014 Sonic (what a mistake). The scrunching noise in the rear started soon after. But as winter set in 7 months after buying it, the creaking noise started in the newest car. Again the dealer attempted to fix it, telling me it was cured. But when I picked up the car the noise was still present. Again this car spent several weeks at the dealership - finally my car was dropped back off for the last time; creaking still there. GM customer service had been following the issue. I called the dealership and GM, told them the noise was still there. A few weeks went by and today GM call center called and explained that they could not fix the issue and that the creaking noise was a normal characteristic of the car and they would no longer try to fix this issue. I have never been so frustrated.
This is my first GMC and I don’t think I can drive anything else after owning a GMC. I love the look and the way that it drives. Inside is such a great design with wonderful features.
I am the sorry owner of a Chevy Impala. I have been a GM customer for over 20 years. I have always tried to support American made cars. My experience with this Impala has been a nightmare. I have taken it to the dealer several times and have gotten treated very poorly. The rear defrost just quit working. Tire system failed, now I am waiting to be seen for the recall and need to have someone check out why my car gives me the message engine power reduced. Once I have these things done, I will be returning this car and I will never purchase an automobile from GM or any of its affiliates. I am so disgusted with this car. I depend on this car (I cant call it an automobile or vehicle) to take my child back and forth and I need to get to work. I cannot afford to jeopardize her safety. I will never recommend GM to anyone.
I bought a new vehicle 2014 Chevy Camaro with a v6 3.7 engine and GM didnt think it was necessary to install a low oil sensor in their engines. Recently I changed my oil as I have always on time when prompted to. And replaced oil filter cap and the o-ring did not seal properly so needless to say without any warning lights or anything the engine pumped out 5 1/2 quarts of much needed 6 total of my oil. Didnt realize anything was wrong until the engine started making a loud noise. Of course GM says theyre not responsible for this mistake because I changed my own oil. But I ask GM why I can buy a $99 lawn mower with a low oil sensor in the engine to protect my investment but a $26,000 Camaro does not have a low oil sensor in the engine to protect my investment. I said even if I fix the car myself this can happen again.I have always been a Chevy man but this just makes no sense to me why they would not invest another $20-$30 to protect what the dealer said will cost me now at least $9500 for a new engine, which I totally disagree with because its only ticking and may not need a new engine but for now and the next 4-5 yrs. Ill be paying very high payments on a yellow lemon yard ornament... this should be a recall. Theres no excuse for this type of manufacturing, very disappointed in the brand Ive bragged about for many years. If this is their best they can build for consumers, they should stop building cars. At this point, I can promise I will always tell people about the warning of the disrespect for consumer investment that GM does not care one damn bit about you after you purchase their product. Thank you, Rick... a very disappointed consumer.
I had been driving GM all my life and I love it. But on the past years it have become an experience brand to buy and keep when others brand have gained reputations on durability, longer warranty and lower cost in general.
I have a 2018 Chevy Traverse High Country and underneath the wheel fender skirt below happens to be a cheap fiber material that is starting to come down on the fifth day that I drove this vehicle and it will become a road hazard issue that needs to be addressed immediately. Which I think in my professional opinion it should have been a hard plastic that repels and prevents water intrusion and moisture from getting in the engine area department etc. Also for the tow hitch you have to remove the plastic panel in order to install a tow hitch that completely exposes the structure of the bumper which it looks awful. It should be a trim nicely around the tow hitch. Also you dont get any TVs nor USB MP3 configuration, the navigation is not accurate.
In May 2019 my son purchased a New 2019 1500 Silverado Trail Boss. He graduated college, got a great job and needed a pickup. He actually purchased the truck 1 month before he graduated because of Chevy Truck Month. Last month we noticed that light passed through the bed of the truck into the wheel well. Looking into the wheel well we saw a 3 split in the wheel well that went through the bed liner. We took it to the dealership and they suggested a patch to weld the steel of the truck and a patch for the factory bedliner because General Motors will not do anything else under warranty. A 6 month old Truck with 8,000 miles that he paid $48k has a defect and General Motors will patch it. Patch the wheel well, the bed and the bedliner?I called General Motors after a complaint/claim was filed and spoke to, a Senior Advisor of Customer assistance. She claimed even though they came to that resolution they have no idea how the body shop is going to fix it, they dont know how or even if they are going to fix the bed liner. I was told nobody at customer service knows anything about the construction of the vehicle because they do not have the technical training for that. I asked to give me to someone who did have that technical training to answer my questions regarding the bed material, the patch if its a weld, etc and I was told there is no one that could help me. I was also told there was no management above the Senior Advisor, my response was you dont have a boss to which she replied, yes I have a boss so I asked to speak with him/her and apparently her boss, the head of the customer assistance branch of General Motors does not talk to customers. The Senior Advisor said GM only will replace the bed if it has multiple defects. When I said It is going to look like it has been patched and then this was the last straw she actually said Well, like I told your son if it doesnt look good, he could replace the truck bed and pay for it on his own. THE TRUCK WAS $48,000, IT IS 6 MONTHS OLD, HAS 8,000 MILES AND GM SUGGESTS THE CUSTOMER SHOULD PAY FOR A REPLACEMENT OF A GENERAL MOTORS DEFECT?? At the end of the conversation GMs final resolution was a patch and that the work would be under warranty for 12 month and if it didnt look like new the customer could pay for the replacement. My questions are: 1. What about the bed and wheel well that have be exposed to rain since it was manufactured will there be corrosion? 2. What about the fact that he now has a less than Excellent Carfax report showing body work making the car less valuable to sell or trade in? 3. What about he has a patched bedliner and sheet steel weld patch on a New truck? Are they going to cover any problems stemming from this fix?4. Why would it ever be acceptable for your a Senior Advisor in customer service to suggest more than once that if the patch for a factory defect decreases value or negatively affects the aesthetics of the new vehicle then the customer could pay for it.I have owned 10 General Motors vehicles in my life some trucks, some cars, suv. I guarantee you I will NEVER buy another GM product, my kids and family will never buy a gm product, I am disgusted they will not stand behind their product or the quality of their product. We asked GM replace the bed not the vehicle and they wont even replace the FACTORY installed liner. General Motors is a disgrace to Made in the USA products.
The transmission should have been recalled. The wave plates break in it and it is junk. I have to replace ours and it costs a lot of money. For people on a fixed income this is very expensive. GM knew about this problem. The car was slipping out of gear while driving and my wife barely made it to her destination. So then the car was stuck 45 miles from my home and I had to get it towed back to where we lived. The mechanic said that this should have been a recall even. What makes me mad is that tax payers bailed out GM and then the company does stuff like this at our expense. The engine is good though because it is made by Honda.
If youre looking for a practical small SUV with decent fuel economy and plenty of usable space inside and comfortable ride. The 2017 Equinox is not a bad choice. Whether a long trip or a short trip around town. That being said. My experience owning this vehicle has been poor. In the short time that I have owned it. I have had to replace the power seat track and then back again 40k later to have the switch on the power seat replaced along with the fuse block. The front brakes dont last the expected average in normal driving conditions. Most recently I picked up on a issue the Equinox has had since the current version came out in 2010 and GM has never addressed it at the manufacturing level. The inner door seams on all four doors have rusted. Bulletin# 15136. Unfortunate I didnt notice the issue until 62 so paid out of pocket for repair. Outside of these issues there are other know issues that I have not experienced. And outside of regular maintenance and the issues I have mentioned. It is a good all around SUV that can be purchased at a more affordable price than most competitors. Also if safety is a concern. The equinox is one of the best at a 4 out of 5 stars. P.S. GM does not supports their product long term adequately enough.
The 8 speed transmission is DANGEROUS! No other way to say it. The hesitations and stuttering issues are countless. After sharing my safety concerns, GM says its just how the transmission performs. Ive driven plenty of V8 engines with various transmissions and never had this issue. It is NOT SAFE! The fact that GM is just shrugging this off is quite concerning. They have offered no help with this problem and passed the responsibility to the dealer. 100% unhappy. I will never buy a GM again and will recommend to everyone I know to do the same. BEWARE!
Recurring timing chain problem. GM has replace timing chain two time. Last time app. 20000 mile ago. Went again. Now is out of warranty for a design problem that they refuse to fix. All they can do is replace it until you are out of warranty. Then you are left with a car that you cannot get any or fair trade 2000 to wholesale for parts because of engine 3.6 L. This problem is being treated different at dealers. Cadillac will repair timing chain on a 1 on 1 case!!! Not the Chevy Equinox 3.6 L same engine. I guess because they pay more for their car. Anybody buying a used GM with this engine should look at car forums to see how many complaints there are. If GM wont stand behind their product knowing there is a problem is bad business. I will never buy a GM vehicle.
If there’s one person who gets injured or killed because of the incompetence of someone or a company then that’s too many. There are too many people having trouble with vehicles that are defective before they are purchased, including me. General Motors should pay everyone who purchases a vehicle of theirs that is faulty for repairs, injuries, etc.
They sure dont care about us after they sell the car. Safety recall in my car they refuse to honor because of vin #. Clearly it can be seen with ones eyes. Exact recall but they say no its not in their system? I have it saved in my phone. An official GM site with recall # and still refuse. What a joke and a very sad case. Shame on GM.
I have purchased 25 or more GMC vehicles. I now have a Lemon. The worst part is that the dealership is not willing to assist. They have told me that they rotated my tires to fix the problem and the magic marker dots were still on the front so they dont do that. They also told me that they road tested several miles and the trip meter showed.04 tenth of a mile. I was told by the service overall supervisor that the problem was GM has a fault in the engine going from V8 to V4 at lower speeds and the vehicle will not ride well. I was told by GMC Corp that they would have a factory Rep ride with me and go over the problem and it never happened. The dealership will fix an employees vehicle with fast action but a customer has to beg and plead. Paying $48,000 dollars for a vehicle that is no fun to drive is poor and unacceptable. They are not even honoring their warranty by fixing the Lemon. My question is why does the customer have to be lied to at all phases of conversation and just fix it.
Own 3 Chevy Sonics. 2014 I bought mine, loved it so much we bought our 2 children one each in 11/16. In Jan of this year (2018) our sons car burnt up while it was parked and ignition was off for at least an hour. No modifications were made to this car. Fire department, and insurance company both said that the fire started under the hood. We called GM immediately. It took over 3 1/2 months for GM to even send anyone to look at it and it was after the insurance company had to threaten them. I went back to dealership, and was told that the car was still under factory warranty and they should have investigated it as soon as it happened. The GM investigator that did speak to me was rude and told me (3 months after the fire), I am sure the car has been scrapped for metal by now...which it had not been. He also said Well we dont know that the car catching on fire was fault due to the motor...and I replied You wouldnt know cause you sent no one out. On April 3, 2018 I emailed our insurance company and they said that GM would have a decision in 2 weeks. I have requested a status regularly and it has been 7 months with no response as in no call, email or letter from GM. All I asked was that they stand by their warranty. I understand that to GM this is a game of corporate bullying. They have no interest in providing a valid service to their customers. Their mission statement We at GM make a strong commitment to our customers, employees, partners, and other important stakeholders. They continue to promote that they are guided by five principles including Safety and Quality first...Create Lifelong Customers. GM has demonstrated to me that they do not stand by their product or their mission. GMs only mission is to serve themselves at the expense of their customers. I will never buy a GM vehicle again.
New Cadillac CTS was in four times for engine light; the last time for eight days. They cant fix it. It’s one year old.
I bought this car last year and before the year was over, I had to take it back to the dealership at the very least four times. I complained to GM, and they said that in order to be able to POSSIBLY HELP ME, I had to take it to the dealership again! Was four times not enough! I am traumatized to drive that car, and I do not recommend to ANYONE!
I had 49,500 miles in my Chevy Silverado and had a catastrophic engine failure. A lifter collapsed and damaged the camshaft when I took off from a streetlight. No engine should fail with less than 50,000 miles on it. GM offered to pay 10% of the repair costs which is inadequate given this engine is obviously a lemon and is unreliable from the factory. Taking a several thousand dollar loss and going back to Toyota. I should have never strayed from Toyota. Because GM does not stand behind their defective engine, I also sold my Tahoe and purchase a Tacoma. I was also able to convince a family member to not purchase a Corvette. I will also work to convince as many people as I can to not purchase a GM product.
I’ve owned 7 GM vehicles, but there will never be an 8th! This vehicle has been in service 2 months out of 12 months, and I’ve contacted GM’s corporate customer service, and nothing! NEVER AGAIN!!! The vehicle has been subpar, and their customer service and lack of response has been equally bad! I won’t make this mistake again!
I purchased a 2006 Dodge Stratus and was told if I make the payments on time for 6 months, they would refinance. I called after 6 months and they said no. So Im stuck with 24 percent interest rate. About 3 months ago, my hours got cut at work... I got behind, and yes, one day late and your phone is ringing nonstop. And if you do answer, they are the mean and rude. I work nights and when a certified letter was left at my house, I did not get it and it was sent back. I contacted them and made a payment about 2 weeks ago. I never heard from them again as far as certified letters go...and guess what, my car was just repossessed at 12:32 this morning...the man was nice but the company is horrible!
I have a 2012 Duramax that had an issue that GM sent out a letter on. I took the truck in for service in October 2015 and the told me the part may be 3 months before it arrives. In the meantime my truck developed another issue due to the issue gm sent out the letter on... So I go back to dealer in December and still no part. So they fixed the other issue and wouldnt cover it under warranty... They wanted to keep my truck which I use for business and offered me a Chevy Cruze to drive to replace my 2500hd pickup. LOL.So now its late December and I live in southern Illinois on the mississippi river where the bad floods hit and had to evacuate and put even more miles on my truck while waiting for this part... So now I call to complain about why this part has taken so long and why I had to pay for the issue that was caused by the missing part... So while telling this to the customer service rep she told me not to complain because her mom had stage 4 cancer. I wish I was making this up!!! In the meantime Gm offers me $100 to go away. What a joke after they took millions from taxpayers to keep the doors open they treat me like a dog!!!
I will tell my car horror story a little later. I called the Rep over the committee who had the CEO of GM answering questions in the congressional hearing and they indicated congress is not finished with GM but we need to tell them our stories. Go to safercar.gov and put your complaints in there also. That is the website they said they use. The more of us that do it, the better chance we will have to be heard at the next hearing.
I own a 2011 Chevy Cruze, worst car ever. I have an issue with it, of course who doesnt, and when I called customer service to speak to someone they keep directing me to Katrina **. I have NEVER spoke to this women before and she calls me back and leaves me an extremely rude and aggressive voicemail. So on top of having problems with my car, now I am treated very poorly by GM. I will never own a GM car again.
I bought this truck at Hampton Chevy. I went there to get it fixed on October 10, 2021, it is February 23, 2022, now and the problem has not been resolved. Ive been there over four times and they are completely stumped, one mechanics looked at me as if I should have bought me a Ford. At this time, I would agree. I have a iPhone 12 which cannot connect to my truck and the mechanic and the GMC representative are telling me its my phone but the same phone can connect to another Silverado same year and my brother phone which is the same model as my phone cannot connect to my truck. Under the same breath they say its my phone fault but dont recognize that two iPhone 12 cannot connect to that Silverado and the same 2 hour phone 12 cant connect to another Silverado. And now they basically are asking me to accept the condition of the truck 2020 truck because they dont know what to do to fix it.
I have a 2018 Chevy Trax awd. On 8/4/21 my engine died. We assume as they really havent told us yet what is wrong. We had the car towed to our dealer Outten Chevy in Hamburg PA. Immediately they started coming up with reasons to void the 5 year, 60,000 mile power train warranty. They have used several excuses from wrong oil filter installed even though according to websites it was the right one, to low oil even though it was fine until the incident and then started leaking oil on way to dealer on a flatbed. It is now 11/15/21. More than 3 months and my car is sitting at the dealership and we are yet to hear from GMAC. We have sent them a certified letter, when we call we leave voicemails and cannot get ahold of anyone. The dealership told us the tube to the turbo melted but would not say if that caused the engine issue. They offered to replace it at a cost to us but said may not fix the issue. Sounds like a flaw to me but GMAC is not recognizing this or covering under their warranty. How can a 3.5 year old car engine blow when we maintained it and was driven with care. I cannot believe that we are having this much trouble for a company to stand behind their product. Not only is the dealership doing nothing but GMAC doesnt seem to want to do anything either. I work two jobs and have had to rely on friends and family to borrow cars as they could not even provide a loaner car to me. I am still paying payments and insurance on a vehicle that has been sitting on a dealers lot still waiting to be diagnosed because they are not looking into it since they cant seem to get it covered under the warranty. What is wrong with this world with businesses not standing behind their products and doing the right thing. We come from a long list of Chevy/gmac owned vehicles from a 41 chevy coupe to a 2020 Gmac Denali and numerous in between and never ever have had an issue like this. I simply cannot believe it, but it is causing us to rethink about buy Chevy/gmac. I know I read reviews and I hope that this may help someone else in the future when considering to buy a Chevy/gmac be careful cause they may not stand behind their product. As for me, I will be continuing my fight for them to do whats right and fix my car.
Oil change was completed on 6-30-2018. As of 11-20-2018, I have still not received my $30 rebate. Every time I call the 844-656-5369 rebate center phone number, I am given another excuse that will delay the distribution by 4 more weeks. There is no regard for customer service or a sense of urgency. This is my second experience with GM Service Rebates with the same results. Numerous calls are required resulting in extended delays. GM should honor distribution of the rebate in the advertised 8 week time frame. If I am lucky this time, I may receive the rebate within 25 weeks. Handling rebates in this way does not provide an incentive to service my Buick at the dealership.
I bought a 2017 GMC Terrain in August of 2017. Since then this vehicle has been in the shop several times for fuel issues. The fuel pump had to be replaced as it was dumping fuel in to my oil, and now recently the mass airflow sensor was replaced. The air conditioner also stopped working on a very hot day in June 2019, and there has always been a shake in the back end of the vehicle. Keep in mind that the warranty runs out in August of 2020. Clearly this is a faulty vehicle... For being 3 years old, it shouldnt have been having these issues and been in the shop this many times. Now with my vehicle warranty running out in 2 months, I am quite concerned that with how many issues there have been, that I am going to have more and pay thousands to keep this lemon running while still paying it off. Well, I made a complaint to GM, they did their fair review, and decided I would not be compensated for anything. I would also like to point out that the people doing the review have no mechanical knowledge. No towing expenses, no fuel, nothing. Unless I buy another GM then they would give me maybe $500 towards another vehicle. Such a joke. So now I am basically being forced in to a different vehicle due to my Terrain being faulty. The above is why I will never buy another GM again. They do not acknowledge that they sold a faulty vehicle, their customer service is less than great, and the vehicle is crap. Dont get me wrong, I LOVED that vehicle. The look of it and the space was perfect. Mechanically, it was a lemon.
GM provides a full bumper to bumper warranty on their new cars as well as 24-hour roadside assistance program if your car happens to break down. As a consumer you are entitled to a tow and transportation to your home, work, or dealer. As I read in my contract after buying a new car from GM. My new car unfortunately broke down in an extreme way at only 300 miles due to water pump failure and engine overheat. Naturally I cannot drive the car anymore and have to pull over to side of the road and call GM 24 roadside assistance. This breakdown is a bummer, but it happens. Overall the call goes well. I am told a tow truck is on its way as well as a cab to take me home. Sounds fine. Except none of this happens.I call again after over an hour. Apparently there is no record of the tow trucks being sent or the cab. They apologize and resubmit the requests for me. Okay, mistakes happen. Again I wait for a tow and cab, but they never come. I call a third time. Same issue. So my request is resubmitted. I wait again, nothing comes. Its getting near 10pm now. Real bummer for me. Eventually I get a tow truck though. No cab. Reason? Cab cant be located. Weird. I get a cab via my phone app shortly afterward. That was a fun 5 hours.Since my car wasnt picked up till after 10pm, dealers are closed and I could not be given a loaner car (which you are entitled to if your car breaks down under warranty) to take me to work the next day. This is fine though since I am told GM can provide transportation to either the dealer or my work the next morning. Next morning I call GM roadside assistance. They say they will get me a ride to work. They call back 30 minutes later, they cannot provide me a ride to work. I ask for a ride to the dealer. They say okay. They call back 45 minutes later and say they cannot get me a ride to the dealer. I call my local dealer rather than 24 roadside assistance - they come pick me up and provide me with a loaner. Guess I shouldnt rely on promised services from GM directly. Conclusion: GMs 24 roadside assistance has obligations that they failed to meet in my situation. I do not understand why. If something is promised, but not provided, there should be accountability. I have not the time or resources to hold GM accountable, but the fault does not vanish. If GM cannot execute on obligations then they should not be stated to the consumer when vehicle is being purchased. One main reason I purchased a new car was the security of a warranty and assistance from GM if poor car operation became an issue. The car issue happened unfortunately, but GM failed to rise to its promises.GMs problem: big on promises, poor on execution. It was cheaper to screw me then to make good on a promise of service. As one person, what can I reasonably do? How can I reasonably prove lack of service effort on GMs part? GM knows the average consumer has neither the time or awareness on how to stand up for themselves. Thanks GM, you swindled me good. Even after going through bankruptcy, which as I recall we citizens paid for, GM still stutters about on cost savings of value proposition. Thanks US government, you made us pay for it. Next time, let capitalism run its course.
I own 1 2015 Cadillac Srx and just purchased a 2020 Cadillac Escalade esv and will never purchase another gm vehicle again. I had a recall for for headlights on my 2015 and when I took it in had to pay for it which was no problem even though it was $1900 for 2 headlights but I was to be reimbursed from GM for a recall on the headlights. Then I contacted GM and they told I had the paperwork for the recall and they said it has expired and now I just have to pay the $1900 out of pocket. This is completely unprofessional especially during a pandemic. I live in Illinois and the whole state has been shut down pretty much since March besides for a few months. I did not read fine print on back of letter real small that said it expired. I think GM should recognize this recall and reimburse someone who has spent over 100k on vehicles from Cadillac in the last 4 years. Headlights that cost that much money should never go bad unless damaged.
I am having transmission acceleration problems that no mechanics or machine can diagnose. They can tell by driving the car, but cant come with a solution. Just keep telling that I have to wait for the check engine to come. But that could be too late and costly. The thought of waiting to be stranded on the highway is scary. I dont know what to do or trust at this point.
My 2012 GMC Denali 2500 HD developed an issue with the heater in the DEF tank. I have been told that there are no replacement parts available in the US and there is no time frame on getting parts to repair my vehicle. There are 5 other trucks at my same dealer with the same or similar issue with the DEF tanks. I find it very hard to believe that there are no parts available, yet GM continues to produce new trucks. Stop the line and fix the vehicles that have already been purchased. To top it all off I was offered a rental CAR, not a TRUCK. I gave them a truck and was given nothing but stress when I asked for a truck in replacement. I didnt buy a CAR because I needed and use my TRUCK for the capabilities of a truck.
I have a problem. I tried ordering parts from your GM dealers around me - the recall that’s on my car. Hell I was going to have it fixed. They wouldnt have to. My 2006 Chevy Cobalt just quit running on me on my way to work. If you could get them to get the part, I will have it fixed cause Im still paying for it and I cant let it sit. I called Corbin KY and LaFollette Tenn. That’s closer to me cause I gotta work.
Went into Ed Morse Service in Sunrise, FL with my 2003 Silverado diesel. Cost of repair for fuel injectors and related parts with labor, $6,500. Found out GM KNEW the injectors were deficient, so they extended the warranty time and mileage to 200,000 miles and then changed the design on future models. My truck had 179,900 miles but was beyond the warranty time limit, so I asked GM Customer Care if they would just cover the bad injectors and I would pay for all other parts and labor. Their response was in no way will we help you since you are out of warranty. The Customer Care rep was rude, didnt know about the warranty change and chased me away from buying another Chevy truck.
Bought 2019 Trax 2/8/19. Month later recall letter. Called GMC. told vehicle is unsafe but I could drive it, and they didnt know when parts would be in. I just had to wait till GMC figured it out! I told GMC I did not want a vehicle coming out of the gate with wheels issues. They first spoke of buy out, then I was told they are not going to accept the vehicle back! Since then I have gotten 2 invoices one stating VEHICLE NEEDS RE WELDING OF RIGHT AND LEFT ARM. Took vehicle Friday and was told it didnt need a fix. Questioned them about their finding, and their manager said he stood by his mechanics report. Took it back to dealer who said it was needed. They informed me that they had to take vehicle, and that the other dealer called it wrong. Incompetent mechanics/and putting UNSAFE VEHICLES on road, tire issues? Not acceptable. I will be speaking to an Attorney. I dont want this vehicle and I will take measures, No one forces me to take a used car, sold as new, but work already has to be done! This fix will only last till warranty is up, and then all cost to me! I dont trust anything coming from GMC. Mechanic put me back in the road with a false safety report! 2 different invoices!? Wow.
My 2012 GMC Terrain is not getting the gas mileage on sticker. I went to the dealership many times, but they could care less. I guess all they wanted was my money.
We purchased a GMC Canyon, the contract was incorrect per our original agreement. I have proof of the original agreement, I took a picture of it. We were kept until right before closing and encouraged to sign without looking at any of the contract. We were taken advantage of over 5000 dollars. I have went into GM three times and called at least 8 times. Every time I am promised management will return my call. To date they have not called.
In October of 2016 the engine light came on, and it was discovered to have been caused by the mass airflow system. I had this part replaced but within a few days the light was on again. I brought the car back to the shop and the part was replaced a second time. Upon test drive, the light again came back on. A third part was ordered and replaced. When the light came on for the fourth time, my mechanic ran through the wiring system but did not find anything out of the ordinary. He ran checks on the gas pedal and various other sensors. He then deduced that the problem was not with any of the sensors, nor any of the mechanical systems in the vehicle. He thought it might be the ECM, but advised me to bring the car to Central Chevrolet to have them look deeper into the issue. The Astra was taken to Central Chevrolet, where they subsequently ran diagnostics and discovered that the ECM was, in fact, bad. I inquired about purchasing an ECM from a parts site that I will not name, but was informed that GM would be unable to or would not program the computer unless it was an OEM part. At this point, my hands were tied. I would have to spend $700 on the part if I wanted my car to run properly again. I bit the bullet and told them to go ahead and move forward with the repair.Central Chevrolet received the part and assigned one of their GM technicians to begin the programming. As the process neared completion, the ECM was bricked. A second ECM was purchased and a second, more qualified GM tech was assigned to do the programming. He was on the phone with either a TAC or TISS representative I cant recall which and together they went through the programming process step by step. Again, the programming failed toward the end and bricked the part. It was not until after this second part failed that GM decided to inform the service department at Central Chevrolet that the pre-2009 Saturn software for this part is no longer available. So here I am now, six months after the engine light first came on and at least six weeks without my vehicle. As I was without the car for several days here and there for troubleshooting between October and March, the inconvenience is even greater. How can GM just let software go away for a car that is not even ten years old? Its software, its not like its taking up a bunch of space in a warehouse somewhere. Additionally, how does GM sell a part to a repair shop TWICE without advising that the software required to make it work no longer exists? And then to wait until AFTER the second part bricks?I called GMs customer service line and spoke with Joe, who sent me to Shaneva. Shaneva informed me that she would call Central Chevrolet for more details, and that I would have to wait 24-72 hours before receiving an update. The call came at the 72nd hour. When Shaneva informed me that in lieu of a resolution, I was being offered an Owners Loyalty Certification, I asked to be directed to a supervisor. I was told my call would be returned within 24-48 hours. I received no response within that time frame, and I actually had to call back again.I have since retrieved my car from Central Chevrolet. It is now in much worse condition than it was when I brought it in, and the vehicle is simply not safe to drive. I expected the original issue to still be a problem. I did NOT expect to be left with a car that I can no longer drive AT ALL! I have been a GM customer/vehicle owner for over 20 years, and I have never had a problem, until now. I am extremely disappointed in the way this situation has been unfolding. When I purchase a car, I expect it to get old and to need repairs. I also expect to have the choice of whether to make those repairs. In this situation, not only do I have no choice, but GM has the gall to offer me an Owners Loyalty Certificate with the expectation that I would purchase another GM product.
Im soo disappointed! Ive loved my Chevy up until now. It has been knocking for over 2 years. I know several others that own or have owned the same model as myself. They all have had the same issues! Horrible knocking of the motor. Found out May 8th there is a class action lawsuit against GM for piston wear, causes excessive oil use and knocking. I am within the mileage for repairs at no cost, but they have escaped repairing my vehicle due to the fact they did not send my letter sooner! Now I have a 4000.00 bill! I had planned on purchasing GM again. But never will I never. Ive had 3 recalls and damaged motor due to their production. They do not back their product. This should be handled by them. Please do not purchase GM. They do not take care of their buyers. If I had received my letter sooner It would be covered. Because of them I have a broken car, I have to fix.
I have owned a 2002 Astro van for the past 15 years, which I purchased use with 150,00 miles on it. It was in need of a rear differential overhaul which I did myself. This vehicle now has 308000 miles on it, and has only required normal maint and repairs the entire time I have owned it. The engine has only had the timing chain replace at 280000 miles. Still gets 20 mpg on highway, 17 around town, interior is still in good shape and body is tight & rust free. Although I have other newer vehicles I use this as my go to vehicle for daily use because I enjoy driving it. Just thought I would say something positive when it is deserved. I am SO frustrated with Buick - Shenandoah Motors - and my 2010 Enclave right now!!! Thousands of $ in repairs since September (like in the neighborhood of $6500) - not including the usual oil changes and new tires. Went to pick it up today after a new transmission installation and the car is whining like crazy. Do they even test drive these things before they turn them loose for customers to take out on the road?? This has been an ongoing issue and finally GM Corporate agreed to pay $1111.23 of this most recent repair (not included in OUR $6.5k to date). Now its back in the shop (fortunately we didnt even drive off the lot before we went right back in and said something was wrong - AGAIN). Called GM Corporate but its after 5:00 so my rant will have to wait until tomorrow when they call back. CRAPPY SERVICE @ SHENANDOAH MOTORS.
2015 Silverado 1500 with 5.3 bought with 76k miles from dealership in Jan 2017. Got it home to find it needed rear struts after hearing a squeaking sound. I love the truck but it’s financed so I have no choice but to keep repairing the things that go wrong. In less than 120k miles it got: rear struts, AC lines and condenser, and an ENGINE. Yes an entire replacement engine due to spinning a lifter and wiping out the cam leaving debris throughout the engine. No wonder there are so many used engines available. Plastic lifter guides, cheap terrible design. Wife and I were looking to upgrade her Cruze (which also got a new transmission at 87k miles) with a new Blazer. Between both our GM vehicles and the tons spent to repair them we went with the Nissan Murano instead. I have always been a die hard Chevy guy but I will never buy another new one as long as I live.
Takata admitted there was a passenger side airbag defect a decade past. I owned a 2008 Silverado with that airbag installed. GM continually said my vehicle was not due for a replacement for years. Today I got a notice that my Silverado WAS involved in GM Recall N212328760... the same recall they told me for years did not involve my vehicle. I sold that vehicle three months ago and just got the notice from GM... today. From the language in todays letter it becomes obvious to me that they were just fine with allowing me to drive a dangerous vehicle after telling me it wasnt dangerous. There seems to hint that something illegal has happened here wherein GM knowingly put the owners of these vehicles in mortal danger.
I have been sending emails for two years for unsatisfactory service and have not got a response yet. Had my vehicle fix at a dealership in California, drove to El Paso and broken down again. Went to another dealership and it was the same thing was fixed in California. This is my work vehicle and was on my way from delivering a load. Had to get a hotel for their mess up and miss work. Been trying to recover hotels expenses and never received a response yet.
It would seem that General Motors doesn’t understand customer satisfaction. Before today, if you would ever ask me what car to buy, I would always recommend a GM vehicle. It will be long time before I do that again. Through my local dealer I ordered a part 2 weeks ago, for which they took my money to order it, the part has shipped to one of the GM warehouses, who doesn’t seem to have any urgency to release to the dealer from which I purchased it.Even the dealer has no luck requesting the release of the part and GM customer service says I have to work through the dealer to get the part released because once it has shipped from GM, GM is no longer responsible for it, even though, according to my local dealer, this warehouse 75 is the GM centralized distribution center. I am now waiting on a supervisor from GM customer service to call me back. 24 to 48 hours although in the meantime I am stuck driving on a cracked GM rim that could go out at any time. Being a GM owner all my adult life, this has me frustrated and has developed a true regret in standing by GM all these years. General Motors, you have lost a long term supporter.
I bought a late model 2006 Chevrolet Duramax with the LBZ engine. A local Kwik Stop got flood water in their diesel. I didnt find that out until after my Chevy dealer replaced two injectors under warranty. They had a hard time finding them --some national hold. Now, three or maybe four injectors have failed. I emailed GM Customer Service. They responded quickly and called me but according to the lady who called this morning, GM is on backorder status with Bosch. Not only that, she indicated that Bosch may not even be making the injector! Some guys have been waiting all summer for theirs. So my $43k truck is sitting on the dealers lot collecting dust in the sun. A truck with the same engine from New York is sitting there also, waiting. The GM Customer Service lady told me no one else I could talk to would have any other information. I had called Bosch earlier and they also responded quickly, but the guy I talked to couldnt even cross reference the OEM part number for the injector. He said Bosch is the exclusive manufacturer for GM. Go figure.
Hello! I own a 1997 Park avenue with 2 front broken seat belts! They are quite literally falling apart! Plastic pieces have broken off, the drivers side belt wont retract and the passenger belt doesnt lock. I took it to the dealership for recall replacements and they told me that they were replaced already by the previous owner. I find this incredulous considering I have own a Lasabre as well as another Park avenue and never had any issues and they were both older vehicles. The cost for replacement is $350/belt and I have no assurance that the replacements arent just like the ones I have. GM is losing a LIFETIME Buyer in me!Of course they are trying to lose the stodgy old man image according to the news...
For years, I have noticed that approximately 80-90% of all personal vehicles on the roads, which have either a headlight or a taillight nonfunctioning, are General Motors products. Im just wondering if this chronic problem has been reported to you before.
Own a 2011 Chevy Malibu and it started acting weird in late February 2016. Finally it just about stopped on the road so I called the dealership. He looked up my car (because I had been there before for service and a recall) and informed me my PowerTrain warranty was already expired. Mind you this wasnt even what I was asking about - I wanted to know if I could bring the car in to be looked at. So immediately it was off-putting. After he told me it was expired, he said they were extremely busy and I could try to bring it in but no guarantees. Well, since he was such a gentleman I obviously said no thanks and hung up. If my warranty is expired, its common knowledge that dealerships are more expensive so I figured I would take it to a local mechanic instead. Turns out the transmission needed a rebuild. It was completely shot. We are already living paycheck to paycheck so I immediately started to panic.Googling how much a repair like this costs and I was terrified... thousands of dollars. Either way, it had to be done because that is my only form of transportation. After a couple different mechanics looking at it, we settled on a mechanic in our town that specializes in transmissions. Got it fixed and it was a little over $3000. Not sure what possessed me to log in to the General Motors website, but I decided to just to see if there was anything out there as far as the transmissions on these particular cars. I had been reading up online and apparently transmission issues are very common in the model I have. After I entered my VIN, I saw that my Powertrain had NOT been expired as of the day I called for an appointment. It actually still had a full 24 hours on it! Cutting it close, but nonetheless! Either the service rep LIED because they were busy and he didnt want to deal with me or he just couldnt read a calendar. Either way, I have been screwed by GM and Paul Masse Chevrolet in East Providence, Rhode Island. Have been battling with GM Customer Service and all they can tell me is that dealerships are privately owned and they would like to offer me a year of SiriusXM or OnStar for my troubles. Im not giving up... The rep I spoke to was so slow to respond to me. Every time she said she would call the next day, and 2-3 days later shed finally call to say she was still working on it and trying to talk to the dealership. So basically I had to pay for their error, and they wont claim responsibility for their employees. It is disgusting.
2008 GMC Envoy - electrical issues, transmissions, stable link system, check previous surveys, & complaints. Roomy, comfortable, fuel pump, filters, issues, fuel consumption.
I am a service manager for a large landscaping company. We have 41 one ton Chevy trucks with 6.0L motors in them. The first year I was here, we have replaced 12 manifolds, bolts and gaskets. I have contacted the dealership GM directly and have been told by them several times that GM has no intentions in fixing or refunding the money for parts, labor, etc. I have talked with several other companies that use the same trucks. They have had the same problem with the same answer. Altogether, we have over Chevy trucks from 3/4 to 1 ton trucks. All I can say is Ford will be getting our business from here on out!
Two weeks ago my engine light came on on my 2004 Chevrolet SSR. I took it in for routine maintenance and to have the light checked. About 10 days later, the Dealer contacted me and told me that they were unavailable to obtain the part needed and consequently, the engine light would not go off. The result of the lights staying on is that I am completely unable to use my eight year old vehicle which has fewer than 80,000 miles! I am unable to get the vehicle inspected, unable to sell it and if I were to drive it and something major went wrong I wouldnt know it because the light stays on!General Motors solution was to give me a list of internal websites? in order for me to search for the part myself. I had previously searched approximately twenty sites and a friend who owns a salvage yard is searching salvage yards for me. I have now searched another 29 internet sites GM provided to me and six salvage yards. When I bought this vehicle, I paid between $50,000 and $60,000 for it. It was the first vehicle I had ever bought by myself (following my husbands death). I am wondering if anyone has experience with suing GM over something like this. I consider this vehicle completely unusable and had planned to keep it until passing it down to a child of mine.
As an owner of a 2011 Chevrolet Traverse, a GMC Sierra, and having previously owned a 2010 Buick Enclave, I know I will never choose to purchase another GM Vehicle. I have had almost identical problems with the two SUVs. Both had major problems with steering, where the steering wheel locks up and will not turn quickly (almost as if the power steering goes out). This is extremely scary when you are making a turn while yielding to oncoming traffic. I had this repaired in my Enclave and it required removing the motor to repair $$$. The Traverse has had very similar problems with the timing chain which needs to be replaced (just as it happened with the Enclave). I just had the AC blower and a tire sensor replaced and was told by the mechanic that the timing chain would still be covered under warranty since the car has less than 120K miles so I went ahead and let them do the other repairs ($600 worth) only to find out that the timing chain ($3500) would not be covered under the warranty. The car is now losing power so Im sure it wont last much longer. These cars are junk after a few years and each time I called Chevrolet Cares and they would do absolutely nothing to help.
It is pretty bad when you have been to the service department so many times they know you by name. Started with cam shafts sensor then it was rear main seal then gas leak. Next visit was pistons rods water pump timing chain, and minors between. The service dept at McDaniel Motors have been great. Other than they had my car so long I had to take back my loaner and get another one. I am not happy with this vehicle (2012 Equinox). If someone would have told me this vehicle is known to use a lot of oil I would not have purchased it. I paid a high price for this vehicle I expect it to stand up to its price. Has not happened.
We bought a 2017 Chevy Silverado new. We drove it off the lot and on our way home it started stuttering. We took it back several times to the dealership. We were told things such as: GM knew there was a problem but couldnt fix it, it needed to get used to the way we drive, it needs broke in. Two years down the road it continues to have problems and they are only getting bigger. GM will not stand behind the fact that there is something wrong with this truck and make it right. We drove our last Chevy truck for 12 years and now are hesitant to continue to drive GM products. They advertise as the working mans truck but wont stand behind it when there is a problem.
I bought a 2015 GMC Sierra a year ago brand new. It have paint chips everywhere on it and they told me I had to fix it at my own expense. It has 18500 miles on it. I have 2 other GMC here and they are over 10 years old and they dont have any paint problems. They told me when I called in that they would have somebody from the dealership close to me contact me to take it in and have it looked at. Never heard from dealership and CC call and said there is nothing wrong with paint, second thoughts on never buying another GM product.
lb7 duramax injectors failed again - Nice person took my call, talked about problem. Warranty was to fix injector issue in 2009, gm was in financial crisis. No help for 1595.00 repair. Just finished repair on May/29/14 for 3800.00. Cassandra the gm. ambassador will not respond to phone messages, more than 4, emails at least 3, over the last two weeks. It seems strange they are so helpful on the first call then have no time to call or respond.
I purchased 2011 Equinox Dec. 2010 new with 65 miles on it. It has been in the shop for repairs ten times from Feb. 2011 to Mar 2014. Engine problems (twice) same thing, transmission, air conditioning, seat belts. All was under warranty. Recently, my Equinox was hit by another car. It was hit on the driver side, front wheel and front. The body shop quoted a price of $8,400 for repairs. It ended up $9,633. The body shop had my vehicle for almost a month to repair. The second day, after I picked it up from the shop, the engine light came on. I took it back to the body shop. They had to take it to a GM shop to run a diagnostic test which they charged $97.00 which I paid. The #2 coil needed replacing. They said this was not covered under my 100,000 mile power train. They are saying this was not related to the accident. NOT A HAPPY PERSON HERE. I have bought 3 other GM cars. No problems. I thought that if you bought a vehicle new, you would have only basic minor problems. I have 76,425 miles on my vehicle and it should be worth about $14,000 to $17,000. Once this vehicle is repaired, Im trading it.. I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER GM CAR. I WILL BUY NISSAN, FORD, OR TOYOTA. YOU JUST LOST ANOTHER CUSTOMER.
They would not tell me where the money went after the card had expired. I only use the card once a year for oil changes and maintenance. Any Visa card I have ever had does not expire until the money is used. They said this money is prepaid to Visa so Im guessing when the card expired, they got the money back from Visa and put in their account as the women I talked to refused to answer the question as to where the money went, so I guess they actually stole $648 from me, as if we dont pay enough for their vehicles to start with. But I know I will never own another GM product again as I dont like dealing with crooked people.
July 22, 2019, we (Fiance and I) purchased a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado from Crew’s Chevrolet in North Charleston, SC. Within the first few week, we heard a constant thump coming from the rear of the cab. We took it in to the dealership not once, not twice but three times in order for the problem corrected. We were informed by the dealership that we could file a claim with GM so, we did. It has been a pain ever since. Once filing the claim with GM, we were assigned to a Senior Advisor. After a few conversations with the initial Senior Advisor, we found out they were no longer with the company and no one knew anything regarding the status of our claims. A week or so later, we received a phone call from another Senior Advisor, Tori, who was now assigned to our case. From here, I can’t even begin to describe the frustration I have felt. I have gone round for round with Tori regarding what to do, what’s going on and what to even think regarding our thumping with the truck. A civil engineer was sent to the dealership, a ton of sealant was applied and it is still thumping! (NO surprise there). Tori calls every 2 to 3 days to tell me that there is no update regarding our claim. There is an “Internal Resource Team” that apparently has not responded to her since the beginning of January. I have even called the service advisor at the local dealership and she seems to know more about our claim than the Senior Advisor assigned to our case. We are extremely frustrated and just want this to be over. We want our money back for the lemon that was manufactured by GM. We want to move on and not have to deal with the constant frustration with GM, Tori and the 2019 Chevy Silverado sitting in our yard. We have to make our payments while we do not feel safe driving this vehicle and have made that extremely clear. When will we get the answers?
I bought the car used with only 7000 miles on it in May of 2010. This car is a 2010 Chevrolet HHR. This car has been a NIGHTMARE to own. It has been the most expensive car to date that I have ever had to repair. Right out of the gate, the car had turn signal issues where it would not shut off. They repaired. Then it was the front wheel bearings which ironically they do not consider to be part of the Drive Train Warranty so I replaced both of these out of pocket. The car immediately afterwards required 2 new rear shocks at 40 thousand miles and then the front struts replaced again out of pocket at 45 thousand.Front discs needed replaced because they put in soft metal for the brake discs. Driving down the road, the car was fine, get to a red light and the car start sputtering and jumping and acting like it was going to die. Take it in and the dealership tells me that the codes state that they have to replace all the cam shaft sensors in the car since they have no way to diagnose which one is going bad and it was going to cost me 600 to do the work with 4 hours labor. Went online and lo and behold there is a video on just this issue and how to fix it. I bought the parts for $152.00 and 20 minutes under the hood closed it and started my car, Voila fixed. Why was it 600 dollars to fix with 4 hours labor when a peon like me can do it in 20 minutes. I can tell you why GM has to pay for the RECALLS somehow. I then one day went out to my car started it up and heard a loud bang and then the front end started jumping up and down. The cooling fan came on when I turned on the AC and broke a blade off. Again the dealership wanted almost 500.00 dollars to replace. Went to the trusted internet and there is the repair on video. Bought the cooling fan for 70 bucks and 1 hour of my time later, I had the old one out and new one in. The power window switches have gone out. The speakers on the radio come in and out whenever they want to work. Next thing that went out on, the car the Fuel Lines. Drove home and smelled gas, kept smelling it off and on for several weeks before it finally became evident that it was happening as it was running down my carport and eating the paint off the drive. I told the dealership and guess what? DING DING DING, 780 dollars to repair, not trusting myself with this repair. I contacted my mechanic that quoted me 360 dollars to fix and told me yep, just had another one of those cars in here for the same thing with the same car. He stated that Chevrolet is aware of this and has put out a bulletin on it. Really, you have these cars going down the road as a potential fireball and all you do is put out a bulletin. Just got the car back from GM last night with a repair bill of 1,707 dollars. The car on Saturday 12/12/15 started off with the ESC (Electronic Stability Control) light went off and the front end started groaning and vibrating, I got the car off the highway and shut it off, waited about 15 minutes and started it back up. No Light on so I decided I need to turn around and go home. The check engine light came on and the car lost power and at 60 going down the highway, was running at 5 thousand RPM.I finally limped into the driveway and do research and there are THOUSANDS of these complaints. I take it to GM Dealership with the codes that it was throwing. They call me later that day. The transmission solenoids had gone out and that the wiring harness inside the transmission had start a small leak inside it which most likely was the reason it shorted out the solenoids again. This took them dropping the transmission out of the car and replacing all this. Disgusting, absolutely disgusting the way GM is, they do not care about you or that car you bought. You are a sucker when you buy their product. Now we have not even touched the recalls. This car has gone through 3 ignition switches and a Power Steering motor and an Air Bag recall (not Takata related) they just exploded on their own.I have filed complaint after complaint after complaint to GM to only have them ignored for 2 years. What got them jumping was a complaint to The Better Business Bureau. I spoke to Mary at GM Disputes and took them 4 days to decide that they wanted to give me $1,500 dollar Gift Cert for a New GM Car she called it a Customer Loyalty Certificate. Told her that was very unacceptable that there was no Customer Loyalty when GM Shows no loyalty to their customers. I will see what I can do by contacting a lawyer. This car is the WORST thing to come from Detroit and that is to include the Studabaker because Im sure as ** would take a Studebaker over this car.
