Volkswagen Automobile Model 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI

2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI

What is the 2025 Golf GTI

The Golf GTI remains Volkswagen’s sporty, hot-hatch reinterpretation of the everyday compact-hatchback: a blend of practicality (hatchback space, usable cabin) with fun, performance-oriented driving.

For 2025, the GTI carries forward a turbocharged 2.0 L “TSI” four-cylinder engine, performance-tuned chassis and suspension, and a fairly modern interior and technology suite — combining everyday usability with sporty character.

Powertrain & Performance

Engine: 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder TSI — producing 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque.

Transmission: The 2025 GTI comes with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DSG) as the standard — gear changes are quick and smooth, and the GTI uses a front-wheel-drive layout with a limited-slip/VAQ-type differential for better traction and control.

Performance: With that setup, 0–60 mph (approx) is around 5.6 seconds (as tested with the DSG).

Chassis / Handling: The GTI’s suspension, braking, and steering — combined with the electronic limited-slip-type differential — make for a balanced mix of agility, stability, and everyday drivability, which keeps it competitive among sporty hatchbacks.

Fuel Efficiency & Practicality

Official fuel-economy estimates for the automatic version are roughly 24 mpg city / 32 mpg highway / 27 mpg combined

As a hatchback with sensible dimensions and a usable interior, the GTI remains practical for daily driving, commuting, and even modest road-trip / cargo uses — especially compared with larger performance cars.

Interior, Comfort & Utility

Layout: 5-door hatchback, seating for five, with a decent balance of passenger space and cargo flexibility.

Features: 2025 brings updated styling and interior touches, including a refreshed infotainment screen and modern controls.

Practical for “real-world” use: The GTI remains a compact enough car for city and suburban use — yet with enough punch and dynamics for drivers who want fun, not just functionality.

Pros — What the 2025 GTI Does Well

Strong “bang for buck”: turbo engine + responsive chassis + hatchback practicality makes it a well-rounded hot-hatch for those wanting performance and everyday usability.

Solid performance: brisk acceleration, agile handling, and a driving feel that remains engaging yet reasonably composed.

Compact practicality: easier to park, maneuver, and live with daily than larger performance or luxury cars — while still offering sporty DNA.

Balanced efficiency: reasonable fuel economy for a performance-oriented hatchback, especially among its peer group.

Legacy + character: The GTI name carries a heritage of sporty hatchbacks and remains a benchmark for “fun but practical” cars.

Trade-offs & What to Consider

No manual (in many markets) — for 2025, the DSG is standard; enthusiasts who value a stick shift might find this limiting.

As a hatchback/sport-compact, rear-seat space and cargo capacity won’t match SUVs or larger cars — compromise compared with bigger family-oriented vehicles.

As with all turbocharged sporty cars: if driven hard, fuel consumption will rise and maintenance/tires/brakes may need more attention compared with a “normal” hatchback.

You trade some of the serenity and refined ride of sedans or larger cars for sportiness and sharper handling dynamics.

Who the 2025 GTI Is Best For

The 2025 Golf GTI is ideal for:

Drivers who want a fun, responsive hatchback but still need everyday usability (commuting, city driving, occasional cargo).

Enthusiasts who value driving engagement — responsive throttle, agile handling, and a car with character — but don’t want impractical supercars or big sedans.

Buyers who appreciate compact dimensions + hatchback practicality + sporty behavior, rather than oversized SUVs or bulky cars.

People who want a balance: not extreme performance at all costs — but a car that’s enjoyable to drive and also useful for daily life.

Bottom line: The 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI continues to deliver its hallmark blend of hatchback pragmatism and hot-hatch excitement. It remains one of the best “all-rounder” sporty cars — capable enough to satisfy driving enthusiasts, yet practical enough for daily life.

Buyer beware! My Tiguans timing chain skipped and bent the valves. $7000 to repair... At 60,000 miles, I still owe $9600. It is in pieces in my garage. A mechanic friend of mine is working on it part-time. At every turn, I have to buy a special tool to remove a special bolt or special part. $71 for a crankshaft pulley tool.

This is the worst bank in history. I always had perfect credit until I made the biggest mistake by leasing through them. Since 2011 I have been trying to dispute inaccurate information being reported by them on my credit file, every time I had disputed it they in return come back with worse information than before adding more 30 day lates. This can not be legal and they shouldnt get away with this. They are the most frustrating company in the world to deal with. Dont ever buy or lease through them. They will report incorrectly and when you try to dispute it they will report back with worse information than before.

Why VW Corp is surprised to see US sales going down? It is the bad quality that eroded the trust and market share. I have bought a VW CC 2014 R line in September 2013 and it had issues after issues from Wastegate rattle, clock springs, sway bar etc. Even after taking it 5 times and 4 clock springs later, the car makes loud rattling noise on regular Highways in Texas. I just cant imagine a 35K USD car could make such rattling noise from the steering column area. The VW Tech came out with an excuse normal characteristics where as cheaper Jetta & Passat do not make that sound on the same road surfaces. How could you fix quality control issue when this pervasive nature exists from the front line VW technicians? How could they flag issues to rectify parts design flaws if they play this game? VW CEO can dream on to be one but he cant rattle his way up to number 1!

Purchased a used 2010 Volkswagen cc about a year ago with 70,000 miles. Clean carfax, no accidents. I did have the understanding Volkswagens are expensive to have worked on, but also thought they are supposed to be well built and reliable. The car has been a nightmare from day 1. Just the last 2 months alone the has been in and out of the dealership 5 times. The intake manifold, all the fuel injectors, the fuel pump, fuel pump control module, carbon build up... on and on and just as horrible as the car is the dealership. Ship is just as bad (maybe worse). Volkswagen doesnt stand by their product. They know about all the problems people have with them and they dont care.Just with the fuel system alone I truly dont believe all those parts I mentioned above failed. I think the techs just kept throwing parts at it until it ran at my expense of course. I could keep going and going... Long story short do yourself a favor and buy another brand. I hope the emissions scandal puts them out of business. Every time I drive the car I now wonder am I going to arrive at my destination? Totally disgusted!!!

My Jetta just had its engine blow up essentially. There is a manufacturer defect and these should have been recalled. I was driving when the engine decided to just stop working. I could have killed someone. There is a class action lawsuit for this exact issue. When trying to get this issue resolved and get a portion covered to replace the motor, we were given the run around. We have been told that it would be 10k for a new motor. The consumer “advocate” says there is nothing they can do about it and refuses to escalate this to another individual above her pay grade. VW has poor customer service, questionable business model and just overall poor business practices. I will NEVER purchase another VW and I caution others in the purchasing of one. VW should be ashamed of how they treat the people paying their bills and feeding their families. This is NOT a company I will support or stand behind.

2008 VW Passat 2.0T burns lots of oil.I purchased my 2008 VW Passat 2.0T on 5/2/11. I had oil change on 7/15/11 and was over 2 quarts low. I contacted my dealership since this car had less than 50,000 miles, why is its 100% synthetic oil breaking down like this since I obviously have a leak. The dealership said to check oil every 1000 and call back at next oil change; burnt/slipped around rings 2 quarts of oil. The dealership doesnt want to do oil consumption test because its within manufacturer acceptable limitations. Any oil consumption that requires I carry oil with me in my vehicle represents a real problem. This takes my $100 regular oil changes to $130. And nobody thinks this should be disclosed to the consumer prior to making a purchase decision? I did the research before I purchased and I didnt even dream of looking up this subject. I researched electrical malfunctions, engine life, performance, etc. This was never mentioned by the dealership, and now isnt their issue.

I have had my leg cut open by the change compartment that sits very close to the door on the dashboard, it ripped open my leg on two occasions within a year. This is caused a dramatic amount of blood loss, a very deep laceration and several rides in the ambulance to the local medical facility. The edges on this compartment are seriously sharp. VW needs to make some changes. My husband is literally going to permanently secure this compartment that it is not accessible. I have owned this car since 2016 with 9k miles when I bought it and now I have 27k. I do not drive it a lot. This is most definitely a hazard and health issue! Please correct. Please call me if need be.

I purchased my brand new VW TDI in May of 2015. The TDI scandal was announced only a few months after my purchase. The following Nov I received a letter about the Goodwill package Volkswagen was offering as long as you register your vehicle... Information they clearly had!!! I immediately went to the site to register my VIN. Their site continued to freeze after the input of the VIN #. I continued to try several times a month with no luck. In Jan 2016 I emailed VW with my concerns AND my vehicle information. It took over a month for them to get back to me and inform me that there was a high volume on their site and to keep trying or try another browser. REALLY? I kept trying every month several times different computers, iPads and phones... no luck. I finally got through on June 30, 2016. The response I got was Congratulations! Your vehicle qualifies for the Goodwill Package. Unfortunately, this registration is closed. I called VW customer care, and after being on hold for over 30 minutes, the agent informed me that there was nothing he or VW could do because I had ample time to register my vehicle. I was told I should have called their customer care department at an earlier date (they are only open from 9am to 5pm Monday-Friday) and they could have walked me through registering my vehicle. I work during those hours and dont have time to sit on hold for 30 minutes!! I know how to use a computer!! They are still offering the package, just not on MY vehicle!!!I was not allowed to speak to a supervisor and was told that VW was very firm on not extending the program past the cut-off date. I want to know how many others had this problem? Was this just a ploy to lure us into not bad mouthing a company who purposely defrauded their customers? Are they still pulling scams on us? Should I file a suit for this $1000 package?

2015 Golf TDI Wagon. So disappointed in this car. 1300 miles and six weeks old: The phone system does not sync with my i-phone. The gas gauge malfunctions. The upgraded Fender speakers are less good than my Tiguan speakers were. Cant hear the radio when the substandard AC is on. The radio goes in and out and takes about 3 minutes to even turn on. The sun shade is getting dirty when it retracts. How do I get rid of this car? It is costing too much and I do not like it. Gas mileage is less than expected.

I bought a brand new 2019 Beetle and noticed it had a bunch of things wrong right off the bat. One of the speaker lights didnt work, the manual seat sinks after a few hours, and the A/C button doesnt work properly. I am 3.5 hours away from a Volkswagen dealership so it takes me 7 hours round trip to service it. I have to do 2 seven hour trips per service because they never fix it in one day. So far I have had to make that round trip 4 times and they still have not fixed the issues other than the speaker light. I dont have time or patience anymore to take many days off for nothing. The product is poorly put together and the service is HORRIBLE, at least at South Motors in Miami, FL.

I purchased my 2014 Volkswagen CC in September of 2014. I was so excited to join the VW family. I leased this vehicle to get my feet wet and determine if I would be a lifelong VW customer. Well, in 2016 while driving down one of Houstons busiest freeways my car stalled and I was just barely able to pull to the side of the road. I had to have my vehicle towed to the dealership where they kept it for 4 days. They replaced multiple parts, it seemed fine. The very next morning I got up and the car wouldnt start. I had to have it sent back to VW in which they discovered an issue with the fuel pump module. After replacing this part, I drove it back home and the next day it wouldnt start again, maybe the third time is a charm. I had it towed back to VW and they replaced the battery. Less than a year later with my son in the car, the vehicle died again. Luckily I wasnt struck by another vehicle. I had it towed to the nearest VW service center in which they told me it was the fuel module again, but it was out of warranty and I would have to go through VW cares to see about getting it replaced or I would be responsible for an 1,800 repair bill. Well, after going back and forth with them they agreed to replace the part. Can you imagine how unsettling and scary it is to drive a vehicle that has such a huge safety issue and recall with no permanent fix. Well, this weekend I was driving down the freeway and the vehicle stopped again, I was blessed enough to pull to safety. My 10 year old son was in the back seat praying we wouldnt get hit. I had the vehicle towed to VW Saturday night at 8pm, so I was without a vehicle for the entire Easter weekend and couldnt get my son to his obligations. Monday morning I received a call from service advises, my brake fluid was green, the control arm bushings were cracked/dry rot and I needed an alignment totaling 1,000+ in expenses. The service rep stated this was just the beginning, but there was also several transmission codes and the diagnostic would be 135 to see exactly whats wrong with the vehicle. I told her to go ahead that was at 9am, its now 6:30 pm and I have yet to hear anything. I called around 3:00 pm to be told the clutch was out and they were trying to get me a quote for a transmission and to expect my service rep to call before end of day. Well, I am truly disappointed in the service, maintenance and overall Volkswagen CC. I will list all parts Ive had replaced on the vehicle and estimated repair costs since Ive had the vehicle. Ribbed belt. Tensioner. Valve. Separator. Mounting. Bearing. Turbo valve and crankcase breather leaking oil. Washer. Fuel unit. Control un. Battery. Battery disposal fee. I have not added the additional services that Ive had in the past 6 months.

At the end of the lease, after never being late with a payment for 5 years and 2 cars, I called them to refinance and purchase the leased car. My car had 30,427 miles on it at the time. I complained to them about my window regulators failing on the front and back drivers side and now the back passenger window. I had already fixed the front drivers side and was quoted around $1100 to fix the back window (which I could not afford), now the passenger window went out. On 7/1/15 they replied back that there was nothing they could do because my vehicle was outside the original 3-yr/36,000 mile warranty but they thanked me for contacting them. Well yesterday my front passenger window went out. Help Me!!!

His scripted emails were fluff and he wouldnt return my calls. I would rate my experience minus stars if you had such a thing. From the day I bought the car I was no longer important to the Tracy Volkswagen Dealership. They didnt have enough time to go over all the details of this new car and said we could have more time on the coming Sat. They never called. When I called them with problems of charging it, they told me they were on vacation, but if you come in I can give you a little time. When I asked about problems with Barnstable free chargers around Hyannis they didnt know why I couldnt charge on them. Said they would check it out. They never did. After a month of trying to figure it out myself I gave up and took it back. They wanted me to go the lemon law route. I told them I thought it was damaged and that they knew about it. That would be fraud to do the lemon law. I ended up paying them a total of over $5,000.00 to get out of the lease. The Corporate VW was no better. They had nothing to say to me, even though they had me fill out a survey for their company. I sent them letters, all the information and copies of everything and nothing. For the first 3 years under warranty, my car had no problem at all. I bought my car in 2012 and its been 5 years now with 40,000 miles. The car is still smooth and its perfect. Nothing is leaking underneath the car. When I went today for my 40,000 service maintenance, they said theres a problem with my motor. Like the oil is leaking. I laughed inside and told myself, What the **? Hahaha.I remembered my friend who was a sale person in Volkswagen told me that, After your warranty dont go to Volkswagen. Theyre going to rip you off. I should of listened. But I told myself, Lets see. I asked the guy, Why is it leaking? The car is new... Its only 5 years. So is this mean Volkswagen is not GOOD at all? I mean, our Mazda, Honda are more than 10 years, and nothing ever leaked. The only repaired we had was the tires changed. I just think this is BS. I bought my 2010 VW CC sport a few months ago. I was pretty happy with it at first. I rolled 60K and took it down to Hallmark (Henderson TN) dealership. I asked for the 60k service that my manual stated it needed which includes the following: oil change, spark plugs and coils change, tire rotation, brake inspection. I paid 300 for all this to be completed. After leaving the dealership my car starts misfiring after only 20 min. I drive it home and called the dealership only to be told CARBON build up in the motor needed to be cleaned. (There is no carbon build up.) I asked for more details and they hung up. So I decided to look into my car and see what they actually did. Lo and behold the spark plugs were still in the car from 2014. They charged me $90 for the tune up that they did not even do. I looked at the coils and it was the same thing. Except the coils were the original 2010 ones. Now my car wont even stay running because of something that they did during their SERVICE. They want to charge me another 1300 for them to re-diagnose the issue and clean the non existent carbon. (The carbon was previously cleaned before taking it to them.) MY advice, do the basic maintenance yourself and dont ever visit this dealership. If I could afford to swap this VW off it would be gone like yesterday.

I returned my leased Volkswagen early to lease another Volkswagen. Old Lease: 36 months for 36,000 miles. At the time of return: 24 months - 34,000 miles - Payments were made for 36 months (fully paid off). 24 months by me and the 12 months by the dealer (technically me since I’m paying extra than I have to on the new lease). I am getting screwed by both the dealer and VW credit. VW credit is charging me for loss on sale - $1600. Selling and storage fees - $600.Ok, so I returned the car early - I get that. But all the payments were made. Car was under the allowed mileage. I leased ANOTHER VW from you. You want to charge me for storage fees? Fine. Fair enough since the car is returned early. But you are making me pay for the loss on sale as if this was a typical early termination??? I leased another VW that cost even more than the one I had!!!! I still have two VW Passats under lease. Love the cars. But will NEVER EVER buy one again. Never in my life. And its too bad because I’m 26 and I wouldve leased their cars for rest of my life.

2014 Volkswagen CC Sport - Volkswagens are NOT Hyundais, Toyotas, Hondas or any Ford or GM product. They have a level of technology (as with most German engineered vehicles) that is beyond most other manufacturers. The DSG transmission, the direct injection fuel system, and the ram air turbocharger, allow the 2.0T to produce 200 hp while delivering 30+ MPH. The fit and finish of the interiors are superior to most price comparable vehicles. The handling, suspension and gearing, allow them to cruise at autobahn speed (if necessary) while still providing a quiet, comfortable ride, with good control.Amazing right? Now the not so amazing part. They require strict adherence to Volkswagens maintenance schedule. Volkswagen tends to use a lot of proprietary parts and special tools, $$ to do even routine maintenance. ANY direct injection engine with eventually build up carbon. You can prolong this by using only top tier fuel, only premium octane and throw in a can of Techron now and then. But they will need cleaning eventually (and that aint cheap). I have not had issues with the DSG transmissions in my last 2 VWs. I find it shifts very smoothly, very quickly and in manual shift mode, fun to drive. BUT, they need to be serviced every 30K and that can range from $300 to $500, depending on where you have it done.I love the super bright xenon lights, especially in the CC, which track the motion of the car and follow the road. BUT, those bulbs aint cheap, they run hot, and they do wear out quicker than regular halogen bulbs. So, if you choose to buy a Volkswagen, you are getting a superior, drivers car. A vehicle that is sophisticated, very well built and will perform the job as daily driver with no complaint. Also understand this car needs regular maintenance, quality parts and needs to be looked after. If youre on this site researching a particular car, understand that Volkswagen sells hundreds of thousands of cars that work just fine. Also, from what Ive read, a lot of these issues could have been avoided by good solid maintenance. Yeah, pay the dealership or VW specialist, these cars are NOT for backyard mechanics.

All CC models are affected by this tire/alignment issue. Dealers and VW are not forthcoming about the actual problem. There is nothing wrong with the continental tires the vehicle comes with, they are wonderful tires and do not have any record of defects or recalls. The issue is the CC chassis. It is a front heavy car built on a completely different and unique chassis than the regular Passat. They obviously had issues getting the car to track correctly through corners using a standard stance and camber. So they widened the suspension stance and added negative camber in the front to achieve better grip with the heavy front end. (Even with the factory set up you can feel the front end wanting to float off in the opposite direction of the corner at higher speeds.) They did not make the camber adjustable in the front, only the rear is adjustable. This means that you can put any brand tires on, rotate and align as often as you want and you will still ruin your tires every 10,000 miles. So add another $1,000.00 per year for cost of ownership of this car. I am absolutely appalled that VW has made this their dirty little secret and just assume that their customers wont figure this out. Shame on you, VW.

Recently, I bought a used 2008 VW Rabbit from a private party. 2013-14 was my first winter with the Rabbit. Until my ownership the Rabbit had been garage kept. Turns out there is a VW design flaw. VW acknowledges how to repair the issue, however does not acknowledge there is a problem. Therefore, offers no recourse to accommodate VW Rabbit owners. How is this possible? How is this denial helpful? Snow and ice build up in the door jambs, over long winter months. The simple action of opening a door is meet with resistance when snow and ice accumulate due to poor drainage. The lower front corners of the doors bend out. In addition, the paint cracks and peels. Thus, rendering a well maintained VW Rabbit blemished and susceptible to rust.As the dealership nearest to my home, I had every intention of having the vehicle serviced at New Motors Volkswagen. So, I brought The VW Rabbit in for advice. I found them all too willing to shrug off the issues I am having by averting the lack of accountability and blame off on corporate, with the customary response, This is out of our hands. Indeed, it is a corporate matter - all the same it is a product they sell, they service and subsequently endorse. It would have gone a long way with me and my overall perception of Volkswagen had they shown genuine concern and support. Local dealerships are the corporate cornerstone in each community. The lack of aid, comfort and cooperation exhibited by this Volkswagen dealership is indicative of the exact type of behavior we can expect from Volkswagen Corporate themselves. Ultimately, the dealership apple doesnt fall far from the corporate tree. Clearly, Volkswagen has no consideration for the consumers of their products - why wouldnt their dealerships embrace the same cold policies?Understanding I am not the original owner, understanding the so-called warranty has expired and understanding the vehicle has been introduced to weather conditions and storage conditions it has not faced in its previous years, should I, the consumer who entrusted my savings, my earnings and my faith in the Volkswagen product, be left out in the cold? It appears that is exactly what Volkswagen Corporate and its fledgling dealerships are doing. Taking advantage of hardworking people such as myself, who are too small to contest the mighty corporate injustices of Volkswagen. Volkswagen is treating myself and every one of its consumers as simple-minded prey by selling inferior products without certitude and without aegis. Volkswagen will NOT take responsibility or offer any assistance.Unlike Volkswagen, I can admit when I have made a mistake. By purchasing my 2008 Volkswagen Rabbit, I have certainly displayed an egregious lapse in judgement. Without a doubt, Volkswagen is not a company driven by consumer satisfaction, or superior products, but rather a company driven by bottom line profit margins. Thank you Volkswagen for correcting me.

I own a Volkswagen Touareg and during a rainstorm, water drained into the fuse box and destroyed the system circuit. VW is claiming it is not a recall therefore, they will not repair the damage. The service dept told me there had been another VW in their shop two months prior with the same problem and it cost that owner $7,000. My cost is $15,000+. Why is it auto manufacturers do not have to stand by their products? If I sold a product that was defective, I would have to fix it or replace it. As a consumer, I am very dissatisfied and angry that I should have to pay for a manufacturing defect they know exists and refuses to fix it.

Last night, my husband and I went to Ford to trade in our leased VW CC for a new car. The lease was supposed to be up in May. I was quoted a payoff amount of $15,500 by VW. The deal with Ford was made late at night when VW Credit was already closed. Ford agreed to pay off the lease, and we made the deal with the new car. The purchase with Ford was very easy and smooth.Ford called VW this morning to confirm the payoff amount, and VW added an additional $2000! Apparently, the 6 payments that were supposed to be due until the end of the lease, which was supposed to be in May, were not included in the payoff amount. How can that make sense? Payoff means final amount to completely pay off a car. So we had to pay an additional $2000 because VW Credit gave us the wrong payoff amount. Then they changed their story and said its a termination fee. $2000 termination fee? Are they serious? Never again will we ever return to VW for any future cars. They just lost 2 loyal clients due to their cheapness and carelessness!

We bought a new car VW Touran from April 2017 and unfortunately car dealer delivered a worse car that I ever received in my life as the following issues: - Adblue tanker was leaking in 2 months delivery. - A problem was warned and technician of VW could not detect the problem. We left our car to check the problems in few days at VW repaired center - Chaussee Ninove with nearly 100 km of our own gasoline fee. The problem was found by ourselves in a foreign country - our car was flooded due to a problem of the joint while we were in the car under heavy rain in Prague. - The light was out of order. After leaving our car for reparation, we got our car back with a new joint replaced, but horrible odor was occurred due to humidity. We came back to request a solution for odor treatment and repair the light as well. No accessory was available. It needs to be ordered and we will be contacted once accessory arrived shortly. One month later, we passed by to check if the light can be fixed and was told the accessory was not arrived because they forgot to order.- We face a new problem today with the battery. I had to call VW assistance to restart the engine with a ref under number **. The technician passed by to fix the problem and advised to replace a new battery as it happened twice recently. We feel disappointed to sell our ancient Audi to them and bought a new car with full options from VW. Honestly saying, service after sale was not good. Agent was not happy to request to fix the problems and unfriendly attitude at Robert Carrosserie - Chaussee Ninove 1070, Anderlecht. It could be the last time and ever to buy such a bad quality.

Today I was told I need to replace the transmission for $5700!!! I called VW to see if there was anything they could do and all they tell me is that I am out of warranty (ends at 60,000) and there are no recalls. Stay away from this car.

My fiancee leased upon my recommendation in 2013 a VW CC. We decided to return it 2 months before the lease ended. The mileage on the car was 35% lower than what the lease contract specified, as it was only used half a year (snow birds in Florida). The car had absolutely no visible wear and tear, neither the body nor the inside. Upon delivery of the car we never ever got a call from the dealer asking why we were returning it. Neither did we get any comments about the returned car. Neither were we asked to have it surveyed. 2 weeks after delivery we get a statement from VW asking for over $400.00 for deep scratches on the hood, the outside mirrors, the bumper. I call VW-credit and raise my objection. The answer: We do not care what your arguments are. We had it surveyed by SGS and they assessed the damages!! I dont know which car they assessed but certainly not the one which we returned. I asked, why were we not informed about these damages nor were we supplied the SGS-inspection report. The answer from the incredibly rude VW-Credit employee: Its not our business to supply you with a report from the surveyor nor is it our job to inform you of the damage!!!I argued that the dealer should have informed us if they had independently found any damage. The answer from VW Credit Then go and complain to them. We have nothing to do with the dealer. We recommend you pay as promptly or we will take action against you, which wont be good for you. We complained to the sales Manager at VW in Naples Florida, where we leased the car. The reply from the manager: We have nothing to do with this. If you have complaints then address them to VW Credit!!Called back VW-Credit. The bottom line answer: Report the damages to your insurance company. I replied, NO, I am not committing insurance fraud for you to cash money because that is exactly what you are asking me to do. I repeated that the car had absolutely zero scratches nor damages. What was the reply from VW-Credit: We have no time for people like you. Phone hung up!We have leased the following brands in the past 10 years: Lexus, Kia, BMW. Have we EVER encountered any problems returning the cars? Never ever! Quite the contrary, we received letters thanking us for the business and inviting us to visit our dealer of trust so that he could help us choose a new vehicle. One fact is sure: NEVER EVER AGAIN WILL WE LEASE OR PURCHASE A VW!! If you have one under a lease contract, BEWARE WHEN YOU RETURN IT. We all know that VW needs to make up for the losses incurred due to the fraud committed with the emission scandal. Defrauding customers even more to get money from their pockets at the end of a lease is certainly a good way to reaffirm the company moral.

On March 21st, my daughter was driving her friend to the airport when they smelled something burning. She has a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta Wolfsburg Edition (100K) that she bought when she turned 16 with a majority of her own money. The seat heater malfunctioned and burned a huge hole through her seat and right through her sweatshirt and t-shirt. We have read tons of complaints about the seat heaters. Since the black leather in her car is no longer being manufactured, they want to replace it with a light gray leather. The bottom seat will remain black and they will replace the portion your back rests on with light gray. This is a horrible remedy. She will have one light gray seat and the others will be black. An entire month has gone by and the parts are still not here. The first order was supposedly lost so they placed another order and its on backorder with no ETA. Volkswagen in NO WAY cares about their customers. This is the worst customer service we have ever dealt with. Dont buy a VOLKSWAGEN if you expect to be taken care of! All they do is string you along. I cannot believe that they can continue to get away with this. CUSTOMER Care is a total JOKE! You should honestly be ashamed of yourself for the way you handle serious issues. She was not part of their recall.

We have an EOS 2.0L VW that has under $60,000 miles on it. The car suddenly stopped running at a traffic light in Dec 2014 and has been in and out of the dealer for repairs every two months. We have spent almost $2000 on a massive failure of both fuel pumps (how do they both break?). We have replaced multiple fuel injectors. This car is barely broken in. It is a $35K car and the entire fuel injection system has failed. There were some warranties that reduced the price of repairs, but less than 60,000 miles, are you kidding? VW PR gave us a two week song and dance (** so sweet and has your back) and ** the decision maker who wont even provide his full name for some accountability. They stroked us really well telling us that they were covering every base and they understood how unjustified these types of repairs are at this early age of a car. Two weeks later... after we supposedly cooled down from spending a couple of grand on the inside of the engine repair they told us they would not take the car back. They would not offer any financial assistance. We were left with nothing. At least I can warn others. Do not believe that VW can produce a fuel injection car. Their design is faulty and their parts break easily and one problem creates others. The EOS looks great, but that is only skin deep.

The dealership has been more than helpful and accommodating through the approved update process and 2 stages have been completed. The final stage of the repairs was scheduled days ago; and when I dropped off the vehicle service needed a claim number. Please excuse my filing system, but I did not have the claim number. The dealership, which I love, and has always treated me like a king, could not do the repairs, or, provide me with the claim number. In conversation I learned VW does not trust their dealers, (yes, the people that support their employment). I talked with VW corporate for the TDI issue (VW Lying), and am getting nowhere. We purchased a new Volkswagen CC R-line in 2012. We followed the recommended service for it, which said 10,000 miles, or once a year. Each year they have rotated the tires and recommended alignment, at extra cost, which we did. Several weeks ago we took the car in for its third service with just over 30,000 miles, and they told us we needed new tires due to excessive cupping of the tires. We never expected to have to replace tires at 30,000 miles and asked the service manager, and technician why this occurred. They said it was obviously out of alignment and thats why it happened. Now, after reading numerous complaints about this issue online about this very same car and people being quoted as being told by some VW service people that the car actually needs alignment every 3,000 miles and more frequent tire rotation, maybe every 3,000 to 5,00 miles, we are wondering why VW is not getting this message out to consumers of this product. It could be a safety issue, when they are not telling us that the cupping occurs, and the tires are worn, especially as you are riding on a low profile tire to begin with. We replaced the tires with Continentals after they presented us with 3 tire options. They specifically told us All 3 choices are good tires. One week after the tire replacements, we were riding down a street near home and the tire light came on for the front passenger side tire, and the pressure began steadily going down. Luckily we were very close to home, and after pulling in the driveway, we could hear the air escaping the tire, flattening it completely within an hour. So we are calling VW tomorrow. No damage occurred to this tire, its brand new, and we wonder whats going on.It cost us over $1000 for these new tires. The car only had 30,000 miles on it!!! After looking at all the brand new tires, we are noticing they have all started turning a dark gray color in large areas of the rubber, in the week that we have had them. We plan on getting the car back to Volkswagen as soon as possible, but were unable to put the spare on, since apparently they forgot to replace the tools in our trunk which are necessary to change the tire to the spare, when they recently replaced the tires. We know no damage occurred to this car. Now we are reading about problems with Continental tires online as well. So why did they recommend the continental tires to us? So WV has not been forthcoming with info on this car to us or many other consumers, relating to cupped tire issues which may be avoided with a different maintenance protocol for the original tires (more frequent rotations, and alignment twice a year??) and then they recommend replacing them with perhaps a suspect tire? AND, after recommending replacing, they didnt tell us that the issue could have been avoided, because they want to stick to the illusion they have created to customers that these cars are good to go, once a year service, and you are done!! They totally acted like we were the only customer who had had this problem. Well, consumer sites on the internet tell the story, and its not a new one. VW needs to step up and start telling people the defect that exists with the RR C-line, and that it affects EVERYONE!

I thought I loved VW. Heck, I use to live in a town just outside of Wolfburg, GE. (Erkerode) It was a happy day when I purchased my 1st VW Jetta TDI. Drove like a champ and great on gas. Main reason I got it was because my daily commute was 2hrs 15min 1 way (all highway). Everything was good. Getting oil changes and services IAW VW. Then the emissions scandal happened. And I wont drone on about that. But, shortly thereafter I had a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) problem. No worries, I thought, Im still covered by Warranty, just barely. Bring her in to my local Dealership, they take a look and say that they need to do a manual regeneration. Next day, I pick her up, warning lights are off, and everything is good to go.The following day, I make my trek to and from work. And wouldnt you know it, the DPF light is back on. I call up the Dealership and drop her back off at the next available appointment. The kind folks at the Dealership even put me up in a Courtesy Vehicle. The next day I pick my car up after they explained to me that they had to do a deeper cleaning. Hey, no worries, this is all covered by Warranty. I happily drive home thinking that this issue has been resolved. Weekend goes by, Monday is here and I make my way to and from work. I get home and lo and behold, the DPF light is back on. Now Im getting frustrated and its apparent that something else must be wrong. I call the Dealership and they tell me that the only other thing they can do is replace the DPF altogether. It doesnt seem right, but they are the experts and it is under Warranty, so I drop her off. I get my car back, drive back and forth to work a few times, problem solved...Or so I thought. 20,000 miles later, I get a new set of lights on my instrument panel. This time its a flashing Glow Plug light, the Check Engine light, and a text display of a flashing wrench followed by the words Inspect. Wow, thats A LOT of stuff. But hey, at least its not the DPF light. I take a glance at my Owners Manual (OM) to see what these things mean. According to the OM, both the flashing Glow Plug light and Check Engine light means Engine Control Malfunction, and the flashing wrench had to do with the Transmission. GREAT... I just put a new transmission in my other car, but thats neither here nor there. I call up the Dealership and schedule an appointment. They have it for a day and then the Technician gives me a call to inform me that the codes came up for the DPF. So what they needed to do was run a regen and it would cost 300 something dollars. At this point, Im out of Warranty. If money is coming out of my pocket, Im going to make my questions and concerns known. I proceed to ask the Technician that if its a DPF problem, why is it that the DPF light didnt come on AND how is this possible, VW JUST replaced the DPF. Needless to say, he did not have an answer for either of those questions and said that hed give me a call back in 10 minutes or so. About 10 min go by and I get a call from a Service Rep that is familiar with my car and the whole DPF dilemma. She proceeds to tell me that they are going to investigate the matter and contact the main VW Tech something or another. The following morning, she gives me a call to tell me that VW Tech said it is a Failed Temp Sensor and that it will cost $2,625.14 to get it fixed and that I should call VW Customer Care about this to see if they can help the situation.ROFLMAO, they must have lost their minds. You mean to tell me that had I not questioned their original findings, I would have dropped $300 only to have the same issue keep popping up. So I did a little research. Apparently, when the Glow Plug light and Check Engine light pops up, it does that because the DPF is at 75% loading or is saturated with 40 grams of soot because the regen process isnt kicking in. And you dont have to be a genius to come to the assumption/conclusion that if the regen process (which cleans the filter), isnt activating because the Temp Sensor is bad, that driving approximately 20,000 miles without a proper regeneration occurring could lead to a DPF with 75% loading.Meaning, the Temp Sensor was most likely faulty the 1st time I was having the recurring DPF problems, only money wasnt coming out of my pocket at the time so I didnt question it, therefore the Dealership Technicians didnt further investigate it and come to the realization that that was the underlying issue. Quite convenient for VW. So, I take the Service Reps advice and call the VW Customer Care number that same day (today). The representative on the line was polite, and after a lengthy discussion she informs me that there is nothing they can do to help because my vehicle is no longer under warranty. She ALSO tells me that this $2,625.14 operation is just a suggestion from VW Tech on a possible resolution to my issue. That the VW Tech is not saying that the Temp Sensor is bad, but that it COULD fix the problem.WHAT... Youre telling me that I cough up $2,625.14 for something that VW most likely missed the first go around AND it may or may not resolve the issue... Thats unacceptable. On multiple levels that is unacceptable. 1st, that I have to pay for something that the Dealership missed/misdiagnosed the first time around and 2nd that they expect me to pay this sum of money when it might solve the issue, but they are not sure. So, I asked the kind lady if there was another number that I could contact to voice my displeasure/concern and was told, Im sorry, this is it. The sad thing is that this was a great car until the DPF issue. It was so good that my wife was wanting a VW as her next car, despite the Emission Scandal. LoL, needless to say, while typing this up, she sent me the following text, Well no more VWs for us.

For a second time now the push open door to the gas tank would not open. I was 40 miles from home and there was ZERO way to fill up my car with gas. I was on fumes, there was no-one or a service company around to help me. There is a manufacturing problem with the gas push open door and after a while there is a part that goes bad according to the Volkswagen reps and it seals shut. There are no indicator lights or warnings that this is going to happen. So, you get STRANDED with zero warning!! I was able to force pull the door open but the door did break and the silver rectangle cosmetic piece covering the door fell off and the black door cannot close or it will not open again--Both pieces now need repair. It is a malfunction in the companies car design and should be considered for recall. I called to try to resolve the matter today with the 1-800 Volkswagen Customer Care line and the lady on the phone was ZERO help and would NOT let me speak to the Volkswagen supervisor and said she spoke to him/her for me and they stand firm on their decision. I was extremely disappointed. THIS is TERRIBLE customer service and this is a SAFETY issue -- not being able to put gas in your car is not too much to ask when you buy a car. They said they will NOT cover the repair on my car because it is old, 2014 with 79,000 miles on it that I have taken GREAT care of and is in good condition. There is always the ROAD TO YES and I believe Volkswagen should take better care of their customers and help FIX the NOW problem. The Volkswagen dealership service people reported to me that they have seen this problem MULTIPLE times but there is no recall for it. I have been an on/off VW owner for almost 15 years. I recently became one again just a few months ago and now I know why I was on/off, rather than always on! After this current experience, I cannot recommend Volkswagen products any longer and no matter what changes they make, I will never return. My recent vehicle was purchased brand new and the quality of workmanship on it is so poor that I would not let my worst enemy get one. Mine came with a defective dashboard straight out of the factory! The dash had a golf ball sized imperfection and a few hollow spots near the passenger airbag. The front window trims also had gashes in them and were also colored differently. One of my interior lights has a bug and some floating debris inside of the housing. There is a s black paint mark on one side of my trunk door (my vehicle is red). I dont care how much the vehicle retails for, this workmanship is pure junk and 100% unacceptable. This vehicle and all of VW is a total embarrassment to the entire car world. Even FORD is putting out top-notch vehicles in 2020. SHAME ON YOU VOLKSWAGEN.

Spent a lot of money at the Parkville VW Dealer on a AC Compressor, timing belt case, and new serpentine belt. Labor rates went up because it was considered a large job, which I find ridiculous. After putting everything back together, they went for a test drive. Found the AC was still not working. Called me and stated both refrigerant lines had a leak on them and they would have to be replaced. Wanted an additional $1,500 for the labor and parts. Fortunately, I said no and denied it. Had them put the car back together and I would drive without A/C. Took the car to a mechanic with 20 yrs. After some research, he found that there were no leaks in either of the refrigerant lines. But, what he did find was that the VW Qualified Tech (@$145/hr labor rate) overcharged the A/C system by almost 250 grams. I went from almost paying $1,500 to paying $80. Drastic difference. Absolutely ridiculous. More like unqualified tech. Not only was I upset about them overcharging the system, but when I called VW and told them what they did, I asked to speak with a manager. Service guy told me he was not available and that he would return my call. Still to this day after numerous calls, I have not heard from him. I lodged a complaint directly with VW America via their website. Still have not heard from them either. Not hearing back from anyone and taking ownership on their poor service is actually make me more upset than anything out of this whole experience. This will be my last VW I will ever own because of this horrible experience with this car and lack of taking responsibility by VW. Buyer beware. Do not buy VW. Tons of other better, great vehicles to buy out there.

Love my Tiguan but I urge you to purchase a warranty. I keep my car very well maintained but there have been some costly repairs. This car is an extremely safe car. I used to see the results of some horrible accidents when I worked at a VW body shop and every person walked away.

We leased a 2015 Tiguan R for three years and drove it across the US three times, with no issues. Once the lease ended, we purchased the car from Camelback VW in Scottsdale, AZ. Because we purchased it from them, they had to do a pre owned certified test, which was last July. Since then, we have had to back to them over 18 times because it keeps dying on us. For some reason they can’t figure it out. They have now fired us as a customer because we are a nuisance. Without fixing our car mind you! We love the car but wish someone would help us.

My car was in an accident and my insurance company wrote it off as a total
My car was in an accident and my insurance company wrote it off as a total loss. During the process, at least with my insurance, they usually do a three way phone call involving the insurance agent, a representative from the financing company, and myself. The insurance company called four days in a row and waited on hold for over an hour each time. They suggested that, in addition to their attempts, that I could try and call VW credit also. I waited on hold for 45 minutes before talking to someone. The person I was connected to at VW credit was extremely rude right off the bat. After I explained why I was calling she immediately accused my insurance company of failing to make the calls and thats why this wasnt resolved. My insurance company is a massive, nationwide company. My claim is hardly a big deal to them. I asked her if she could call the insurance so we could get this resolved immediately and she informed me that they could not place outbound calls. Thirty seconds later she made the call to them. She then informed me, with a very snotty voice, that their hold times were similar to their own and it would be a minute.About three minutes later she returned to my call informing me that she had spoken with the insurance agent and had everything resolved for the most part. This person was extremely rude and I am completely outraged that a company allows their employees to speak to customers this way. I am nothing but respectful on the phone and I was trying to get the car paid off!! I am going to a VW dealer tomorrow and if they are unable to find me financing with anyone but VW credit it looks like I wont be driving another VW anytime soon.

My Clock Spring 2011 Tiguan broke about 6 months ago, I put the repair on hold, my mileage was about 109K, I have receipt from my mechanic for the 120$ I paid him to figure out what was wrong. VW has issued an extended warranty on this to 120K (IMO should be a recall), I moved so I did not receive the notice until 120,300 miles. Even with proof that it broke before and so close to the warranty date they will not honor... Seriously its the 5th VW I have owned, with all of their issues you would think they would be trying to build customer base, not alienating. This is just not right.

Volkswagen Atlas w/ Lane Assist & Adaptive Cruise Control - Cell phone
Volkswagen Atlas w/ Lane Assist & Adaptive Cruise Control - Cell phone jammed the locks from opening. Cell phone jammed the keyless start on many occasions. SUV can be driven remotely and was when a hacker (twice) took over steering and the gas pedal via the Adaptive Cruise Control. The vehicle sped hard up to 85mph. Eventually VW bought back the vehicle in its entirety but all the vehicles with this type of semi-autonomous or autonomous technology should be recalled and pulled from the roads. It’s too easy to hack them. Vehicles can get viruses via the cell phone and through the Bluetooth. An architect / engineer at GM shared this conversation with me whilst trying to help me diagnose my problem with my vehicle/s.After the VW hacks the vehicle was never the same and couldn’t stay in the middle of the road. It would ride the center line or pull approx 18” over center before the sensors realized a problem. You’re supposed to be able to take your hands off the steering wheel for up to 8-9 seconds. There is no way to do this because you’d be in a ditch or under a semi truck. It’s a product defect and foundations of the technology is not stable.Sadly, I’ve reached out to the attorneys to help but most say they need about 50 deaths first. I say how much is your life worth to you? I have videos and photos to support the other people who are interested in their own business opportunities for a meeting with the customer and likewise for the insurance liability company. It’s the insurance liability companies that fall on the sword and they are responsible for the damages. Now that they understand how the game works for me and my family and friends and family I hope the insurance companies have more sense to get this mess cleaned up here and with the other automotive companies looking forward to deploying more autonomous vehicles on the road. When was it ever a good idea to put P.C. technology under the hood of a car? The spying and espionage the result of certain always on connected devices to a vehicles connected and networked system is connected to the internet and to the point it is broke globally due to technology corruption issues related to issues with the other people who are responsible for the other things they are doing with the other people. It’s not cool and a global technology problem for the future of the automotive industry will help fix it all over again and the repair man denied that he saw any issues. Total waste of time and money. Completely unnecessary to work with me for the next meeting with the customer but a forced payment for the work to share with my insurance company helped insurance companies and the can increase the charges for insurance liability for the high-risk deathbed. Whistleblower for me and for whichever attorney I will need help with the insurance liability company and the money back to me for the problems that I experienced as a result of those issues related to the problems that they were not able to help fix. Thank you very much for your help and change the insurance liability company to be more of a voice or and stop the production of these the liabilities. These vehicles need to die on the line. If you’re interested in that it may actually help you to save money and you can help fix the problems with that and your companies will be responsible for the insurance liability and only to get the money back to the customer with damages due to the problems with the known product defects. Hopefully I get a chance to see you soon and I work with you on these issues. I’ve got more of a handle of these problems and more than anybody else in this area.

I leased a 2017 VW Tiguan in Jan 2018. It had only 6025 miles on it. When entering my Garage it suddenly had acceleration to damage the Cars front and garage wall which made a big hole in it. I contacted VW HQ Customer Care immediately in Auburn Hills, MI and they listened and kept me asking questions again and again how it happened. First they said will give you a case number. Then later they asked to send a letter that I am not going to litigate on this matter which was promptly mailed for they will not accept an email to this effect. I also contact their US CEO in Herndon, VA Office sending them all pictures of damage to Car and garage Wall and Door access to home. These pictures were taken by Insurer Liberty Mutual. Unfortunately due a mistake I forgot to get Rental Car Coverage from Liberty Ins. It is costing $330 per week in NJ. Car I am told will not be repaired for 3-4 weeks to get parts.I also asked for stopping lease payments $212 p.m starting Nov 15 and keep me whole on damage to the garage wall and related costs. The VW rep did not sound too enthusiastic. I have had as a student a VW Beetle to drive several times. It was a great little car. This sudden acceleration of TIGUAN, a Police guy told me is now happening in some Cars that had faulty electronics synced with Transmission. It is very frightening if the same had happened on Highway behind a Long haul truck. Fortunately I did not suffer any injury. Police Report is due to send to VW HQ Customer care.

When we signed up to be part of the VW buyback in the diesel scandal, we were told to keep making payments until our buyback and they would adjust our refund at the time of buy-back. At our appointment, we were told this was false and we would have to contact VW Credit for the rest of our refund. Then instead of giving us our paperwork, they walked us to the VW store manager and handed him our paperwork, and made us talk to him so he could try to sell us another VW, promising that if we did they would take good care of us. REALLY!! After VW had already lied to us on multiple accounts. Sadly, it didnt end there. We had more hoops to jump through to get the buy-back money credited to our account, even though they had requested all that information on the front end. However, we got the bulk in two or three days.We contacted VW Credit for the balance of our money but were told they couldnt give us the rest of our money until they received the payoff from VW. We kept calling for the status on our refund. We learned that VW sent a check (not electronic transfer) to Chase apparently through the mail who then mailed a check to VW Credit (technically two different companies). VW Credit said they had to wait TWO WEEKS to be sure the check from Chase cleared before they could mail us the rest of our refund! It was over a month after the buy-back before we got our money -- less the interest accrued while they used our money.

I ordered an ignition switch from this dealer on August 25, 2015. The salespeople were friendly and helpful, letting me know that the part would be available in two weeks. When I called, the salesperson told me it would be another week. When I called again, he told me that they would let me know when the part came in so there was no need to call. I called again at the four-week mark and was put on hold for several minutes. When the salesman finally got back on the line, he explained to me that there had been a glitch in the system on the day I ordered and that it would be at least two more weeks. When I got upset and said that it sounded like he was covering for someone who had messed up, the response was, Yes, maam. Im not sure what he was acknowledging. Needless to say, it is two weeks later and I still dont have the part. So my cute, little Beetle that I am still paying for is sitting in my garage and I cannot get the dealer to come through. Oh, and by the way, the part was prepaid because it is VIN specific and they wont order without payment.

I had kept VW for 6 years. When you trade or lease another vehicle VW is happy. When you are done business with them, they will eat your money. I returned my Passat recently and charged me $2000 to replace their loss of vehicle value. A previous dealership didnt explain what steps I need to follow in order to return. I went to a different dealership and returned it. I asked that I have to fix anything before returning. They told me nothing I can do at this time. I was waiting for their final answer and they called an inspector to return. Of course, they didnt call me, instead, I called them what is going on.The dealership finished its process and transported to the auction. Therefore, they charged me $2000. I looked at the list what I charged for. I understood some parts of vehicle needed to be fixed. I didnt understand how much VW charged me for tires. I replaced Michelin tires and got charged $190 each which they were not original parts. I called VW credit and they kept saying cant readjust my money. I am really disappointed with VW how they treat a customer. I guess I am not going to deal with VW anymore. I will pay money and you will lose a customer. Thank you.

I am starting a website for other people Ive had contact with to share similar stories. So when the site is complete, I will make sure everyone knows how they do business.Ive never had to pay for tires (they were exactly where they should have been when turning it in). You can turn in a Honda, Toyota, Lexus, etc. with bald tires and they wont bother you! It’s normal wear and tear after 36 months. Ive only ever had to pay for over mileage! VW Credit is ridiculous and I, nor my friends, family, neighbors or co-workers will ever do business with them again!

I had an O2 sensor go bad on me roughly 100 miles ago. I am by no means an expert mechanic but I have been working on cars for a little over 20 years and I couldnt believe how quickly the sensor went out. There is obviously no fix for yet and who knows when/if they will ever repair the problem. Ive been trying to sell this vehicle as I purchased a new car a few months ago and as you can imagine no one will buy this VW because of the recall. As a single mother I simply cant afford making 2 car payments, insurances etc. so I requested that VW buys the car from me. To my surprise they said they couldnt help me!! I have a 2011 Volkswagen Golf TDI, which I bought new. Its one of the Diesel cars that VW was found to have lied about. About a year ago I signed up for the VW TDI settlement program and planned to turn in my TDI this fall. Now, to add insult to injury, the High Pressure Fuel Pump has failed, which I am told is catastrophic and will now cost $4500 to repair. Unless I repair the car I will not be eligible to turn the car back to VW or be able to have them retrofit it so that I may continue driving it. The car has 124,000 miles on it and the extended warranty, which I was not informed of, expired at 120000 miles, just a few months ago. I was never informed that there was an issue with VW fuel pumps. Apparently, the High Pressure Fuel Pump was the subject of a federal investigation which I never heard about. Further, Volkswagen has paid for this repair on vehicles outside the extended warranty period. A quick web search reveals thousands of these HPFP failures. Please consider looking into this, as VW has set a precedent by paying for these repairs past warranty and now they will not cover mine, leaving me with this huge burden. Thank you.

Being a foreigner for over 4 years in the US, I had a hard time building credit, trying to get credit cards but banks never wanting to give them due to being on a US visa. So after I got denied several times years before I finally got financing on a Passat with $6000 down payment and a 14% interest rate and of course the salespeople at VW Santa Monica scamming me by making the price higher when we did the contract, from $17399 to suddenly $18956 or something including all the fees, so that I pay interest ON the fees as well (did not know better) paying $26.000 something on the car when paid off! So almost $9000 more than this crappy car is worth. Anyway, after paying on time for more than 1 year, I lost my job and fell behind with payments. I called a few times asking to refinance or lower the payments to no avail. Then fell behind 5 month and of course when I call they tell me car is in repo but they take the repo off if I pay at least 4 payments asap. I tell them I am overseas and need to have my US checks cleared through my bank which took 3-4 weeks over the Christmas holidays. So as soon as it cleared I send a money order via FedEx with 5 month worth of payments to get current. So I call 2 weeks later and they tell me I have to return the car as my account was closed. I am like, WHAT??? They told me on the phone if I pay 5 payments they will take off the repo and I can pay monthly via bank transfer from then on, and I call and they just canceled everything they said before and say Pay $14.000 - right now or bring the car back. I cannot believe it. They say, Contract says bla bla cancelled when in default, even after I agreed on the phone to pay them 5 payments and get current and DID pay them, they say, It was TOO LATE and now they want the total outstanding on the car within days or need the car back. What a ** company, the WORST liars and scammers out there! I paid up, she confirmed my payment but supposedly it was days too late. So now I dont know what to do, lose $26000, and the car, cannot drive to work without a car, still have to pay off the rest. Instead of working with us these scammers rather take your car and still have you pay off the rest because they is how they make money. NEVER VOLKSWAGEN AGAIN. Worst car company ever. The engine in the 2013 VW GTI we leased burned up at 25,000 miles. Nine days before this happened, the dealership where we leased it from refused to honor the service agreement and misled us as to whether or not it was due for service. As a result at the BBB arbitration between us and the manufacturer, we were held responsible for 1/2 of the cost of replacing the engine on a 2013 vehicle with only 25,000 miles on it. We have had to sue the dealership for the balance we had to pay due to the breach of the service contract. As a result, we have been paying $260/mo five months, the court date is not for another 3 months and we STILL dont have the car back. VW sucks, the warranty sucks, and the service contract sucks. The Customer Care guy (Douglas **) was nice enough though -- Im sure hes just following orders -- not his fault VW corporation cheats its customers on the warranty and the service contract (while still taking our lease payments at $260/mo).

I own a 2013 GTI and in November 2015 the water pump started leaking fluid. After taking the car to the VW dealership, I was informed there was a recall on the water pump and it was replaced. Fast forward to 2017; the water pump that was replaced in 2015 starting leaking (having found this out after taking the GTI back to VW). I informed the service department that water pump was replaced due to a recall. They preceded to locate when the water pump had been replaced. The service department contact Volkswagen checking to see they would pay for repairs since the water pump was replaced due to the recall...Volkswagen would only pay half of the bill. I contacted Volkswagen, stating that evidently the water pumps are faulty if only after 14 months after installation the water pump requires replacement again. The representative that was helping me, advised she contacted someone at Volkswagen and that is all they would do. I told her again... after only 14 months and the water pump is being replaced again, that tells me that Volkswagen water pumps are faulty!

After four years of dealing with Volkswagen customer service I have made my mind up to never buy another! I like my 2010 Jetta TDI Sportswagen - its a nice car to drive and get decent fuel mileage. I have dealt with two different dealerships on various issues, and feel their service representatives are very poorly trained. Can you imagine one of them telling me that my spark plugs needed replacement - on a diesel, there are no spark plugs! Or a labor charge of $90.00 to replace the rear window wiper. The wiper itself cost $16.00 as a separate charge. This car has never been touched by anyone but VW dealers, and they stripped the oil pans drain plug out?? Then blamed it on me because I have the cars oil changed too frequently??The latest issue was an engine trouble light. They charged me $99.99 just to read the problem, then tell me the problem is your glow plug is bad. Diesel engine will not start without an active glow plug. I feel I am being ripped off. And when I total all the charges, I realize I would have been better off financially driving another vehicle with half the fuel economy. Today I got an answer back from corporate that they took my complaint and passed it on to the dealer -- whats wrong with this picture??? Before you invest in any Volkswagen product, consider their poor, and very expensive service work, and no help from the manufacturer. Customer Service Counts!!!

After an oil change a few years ago, my 2000 VW Passats stop engine light came on. I immediately pulled over and turned off the car. We had the car towed to the dealer, where they diagnosed it as needing a new oil pump due to the sludge problem. There was no class action lawsuit at that time. When we were later notified of the lawsuit, we submitted the paperwork with all of the maintenance records. VW still did not pay. They took all of the info and said that they needed more because the VW dealer did not indicate on the repair bill that the problem was due to sludge. I wrote and also verbally told the people handling the class action suit that the dealer had told me that it was due to sludge, but that did not seem to matter. This is all bogus. Although I really love the car, I will not ever buy another VW seeing as this is how they do business. I am disgusted by this experience.

I am so unhappy with the service and the cars Ive been driving. It is one problem after the other. My problem is you guys keep on fixing how many times must a new car be fixed. I changed my previous Polo for the new Polo because of the problems it gave me and the constant fixing. The new Polo is a bigger piece of rubbish with endless issues. Can you just take your car please. Im not interested in any more fixing. I had enough. This is what Ive been experiencing: wind sound problem, the brakes noise, the 2 seat belt campaigns, the handbrake campaign, an Issue with the handbrake, I had an issue with the tyre alert thing as well. It said that the left rear was low but the right rear had a puncture, And now to top it all off its raining in at the sun visor. I was soaking wet yesterday by the time I got home from work. Please understand I do not need these kind of problems from something I pay EVERY month. I bought the car from VW at Edenvale.

The battery died in my 2005 Toureg. I had the car towed on Thursday, Nov. 10th, to Southtown Volkswagen. I called to verify that the car was received and it was. I was also told that it would not be looked at until the following day. So on Friday, I called and they still hadnt looked at it. Then later in the afternoon, they determined that some compass something or other in the roof was staying on and draining the battery. I was told I would need to replace the battery at $350 plus $99 labor charge. I said okay. Then, they said they would check to see if the malfunction compass something or other was covered under my warranty. Of course, it wasnt. I was quoted around $500 for the repair on this. They claimed they ordered the part. However, today Nov 14, 2011, they still havent got the part. Now I am out probably close to $1200 (parts and labor and other ** I am certain they are trying to claim), not to mention the extra money I paid to purchase a warranty. What a waste of money that is. I like the car. It’s too bad the company cares so little for their customers. It’s a good way to go out of business I think.

I have a 2011 Jetta Sportwagen, which for the most part has performed well. However recently Ive had a problem with my rear seat-belts seizing up and no longer working. I took them to the dealer and was charged $120 for them to look at it, tell me it would need replacement and I would have to pay $1200 because my car was no longer under warranty. I informed them I purchased the Platinum extended warranty and they said it was not covered. I contacted VW of America. After about a week I finally received a phone call and was told by a Jenny ** that she would see what she could do. A few days later she called back and said I was out of warranty, but they would supply the parts free of charge, but I would have to pay for installation. I told them I appreciated the gesture, but felt that a 3 year old vehicle should not have this issue. I wanted them to stand behind their product and replace the seat belts. I asked to speak to a supervisor and got the runaround, until she finally agreed to talk to her supervisor. Instead of a supervisor coming on the line after I sat waiting to dead air for 5 minutes or so, Jenny came back on and said SHE spoke to the supervisor and the supervisor agreed with her position. I told her I wanted to speak to the supervisor and I wanted the name of the person she spoke to. She kept trying to avoid the issue and then finally said she spoke to Sharonda. I asked to speak to her and was told she could only put my request in the system and someone else would contact me by Monday.

I bought a VW Tiguan in Dec. 2019, top of the line with bells and whistles. About 14,000 Km after, when I took it for the 15k km service, I asked them to have a look at the brakes as theyve started to make some noise. They said the brakes overheat, the metal is blue (sign of overheating) and they theyll need to be replaced. $1,500 invoice. They said the warranty doesnt want to cover it as it is a consumable. I know that the warranty doesnt cover consumables (oil, filters, brake pads etc), but this is the first car I have to change the brakes under 60,000 - 80,000 Km. I love my cars and I look after them, but I see this as a factory defect, not a user error.I would like to clarify something: Ive owned and drove multiple cars along the years. Im a car guy, I love cars. I bought the Tiguan for my wife, but I drove it 90% of the time due to some circumstances. I had multiple German cars, Japanese and American cars over the years. Just so you know, Im not looking for any freebies, discounts or anything like that. Just want the manufacturer and representatives to stand behind their claims and contracts. The dealer cant change them on warranty, theyve submitted pictures and technical reports to VW Canada but theyve rejected any warranty claims. Ive called them directly to talk about the situation, theyve opened another case and VW Canada said theyll get back to me in 48 hours. Few days later I called them again as I didnt hear anything from them. They said another 48 hours...This becomes a joke, they throw the blame from one to the other and together to the put it in the owners lap to pay it. The warranty is a shame, they make the best to get out of replacing faulty parts or repair them stating its user fault. I start to have doubts about the parts reliability and warranty, at least not in North America. Unless you have a blown engine in less than 1,000 Km, they wont cover anything, and even then, they might say youve done something wrong to it or looked in the mirror the wrong way.

I lease the Rabbit, because the salesman stated I could buy the car after 48 months with purchase option around $8,500.00. The value was written on the contract. In the last month of my lease, I called VW to confirm the payoff - $8,500.00. So, Im going to refinance the car for purchase or trade the car. I found a Nissan. He agreed to give me $10,000.00 on trade. Its a fair deal; the VW was listed for $12-14 thousand. The Nissan dealer signed a power of attorney to procure the lease title of the VW. VW told him his payoff was $11,930.00. Now, Ive driven the Nissan off the lot. I called VW again, asking what difference it does make if the payoff check comes from me or a car dealer. They said, Dont send a check with the dealerships name on it. To make a long story short, though I could have paid off the VW myself, Nissan didnt want to wait for the title. I lost about $1,500.00 through re-negotiations plus emotional trauma. The payoff should be the payoff. Monopolizing and false advertising are illegal. Nowhere on the lease contract did it state the payoff would be different if you were trading in the car at Nissan. I found a form faxed to Nissan from Bill **. VW apparently could purchase the car for $8,500.00. If you want to trade, buy your car first. The leasing company pays all sales tax on the total price of the vehicle when you sign the lease. So if you purchase the leased car, maybe you pay tax on the $8500.00 figure. Nevertheless, look up the Illinois law definition of false advertisement. The omission or concealment of material facts on which a person relies upon when purchasing a product is hereby illegal (paraphrase). There is no way I could have known this was going to happen to me. It was not stated on the lease agreement.VW lied; they told me that at the end of the lease, I could trade the car at any dealership--Dodge, Toyota, etc.--and that VW of America would honor the purchase option price. What a crock. But how do we know when its not written in the least contract. The payoff should be the payoff. You buy a house, the payoff is the payoff. You refinance, the payoff is the payoff. I called for my payoff before I went looking for another vehicle. What VW is doing needs to be outlawed under truth in lending laws.

Car door sustained damage when water was trapped in the door frame and froze. VW would repair the damage if car was 4 years old or newer as it would be within warranty parameters. They are aware that the structure was at fault as they have fixed cars within the parameters. Our complaint is that they never contacted us to inform us that this could be a problem or offered a way to fix the structure before the ice peeled back the door skin. Now they offer no compensation as it is outside the warranty parameters. How does a structure of design have a warranty?

My Advice to all the folks who are even planning to buy a Volkswagen vehicl
My Advice to all the folks who are even planning to buy a Volkswagen vehicle, Dont even think about it. Unless you have lots of money and use and throw car. Its a shame on you Volkswagen!! All the car manufacturers (Its shame for me to say your competitors) are building cars that last for 200K miles and your car is falling apart after 90K miles. I had this car which likes to go back to the workshop every 2 weeks once its marked 90K miles. Its shame on your assembly employees, quality control engineers. Are they sleeping? Or you are not paying them well? Please take all the money that you make from the repairs caused by these breaking parts and give them as bonus. Motivate them to at least build something so that at least you can call yourself as car company. I was always recommending friends about this company... Now I realized big mistake. Sorry VW. Not any more. I changed my advice. None of my friends/colleagues are no more going to buy VW if they get my feedback. To all the folks who are planning to buy - I would suggest instead of buying a vw, just drop $100 into the toilet daily and flush it. That will at least save time from going back and forth between the repairs.

So here is the deal. My husband and I, we purchased 2013 VW Tiguan. During the first year I had to bring the car to the dealer 4 times, due to an engine problems. First time, the engine light went on (at that point the car was about 4 months old!! ), we brought it to the dealer and after they checked it, they told us that it is just a glitch in electronics...Two months later, the light comes again, we bring it to the dealer and hear the same story...yet this time they told us that they switched something off (!!!!), so that the false engine light alert wont come on again! Couple of months go by (just FYI - I commute on highways every day to and from work), and when Im in the middle of my way home, the engine light goes on again... 20 minutes later, after the light had came on, the car just stalls/the engine shuts off!! Luckily the traffic was heavy and I was going about 10-15 miles/hour...I had to come to a complete stop in the middle of the highway and restart the car. I cant even imagine what wouldve happened if I was going the full speed...We brought the car to the dealer, and were informed a day later, that there is a sensor problem, and that they will be replacing it. When we took back the car we asked the dealer multiple times whether this problem will be happening again - they assured us that it will not!Yet, a couple of days ago (the car is one year and 2 months old at this point) I start my regular commute from work to home, and...here we go, the engine light comes back on!!! And, as in the old scenario 20 minutes later (luckily I was still downtown - so the speed was about 5 miles/hour. I was giving a way for another car to go on the stop sign) the car engine just suddenly shuts off! I then decided to go to the dealer right away, and on my way to the dealer the car stalled (engine shut down) for the second time!!! LUCKILY AGAIN I was going on low speed due bad weather condition (first snow) and bad traffic!!! It just terrifies me to think about what wouldve happened if I was going 55-60 miles?? This time the dealer told us that there is a wiring problem (the wires that lead to the sensor are all messed up). I understand that they would fix this, but I am now extremely skeptical about the quality of this vehicle. I cant trust to use it anymore...I am now wondering if I should give up the idea of being a VW owner at all...Given that there was a recent recall on Tiguan models (some manufacturers mistake with the engine programming - which we supposedly took care of!! ), I was wondering if some of you have faced the same problem with the engine suddenly shutting off (Remember the GM manufacturers mistake and engines shutting off, when people died due to this?). If so, I urge everyone who experienced this to please respond, we need to take action - as it might be some manufacturer mistake, which might have terrible consequences in the future!!

I purchased my 2009 Volkswagen cc at 72000 miles on November 2014. The same day I drove home I had a CEL turn on and off, I took it back, and the dealer changed 1 coil wire that was about to go bad. Thanks. Soon after (month later), my fuel pump and fuel pump module went out. I called and they said, No warranty. I went and purchased, 650 dollars with installation at brother in laws shop. Cheaper than dealer by $500. Then at 112000 miles my transmission went out. No warranty of course. That was 5k to replace and install. This was in March 2016. In April my fuel injector was misfiring. Replaced all injectors. Then in March 2017 my throttle body went out. No help all this time from VW group of America. Worthless to be honest. Now in October 2017 my fan went unbalanced. No more VW for me EVER!!!

The windshield on my Beetle with 4700 miles spontaneously cracked overnight, with no previous stone chips, car crashes or pothole collisions. The break is an obvious stress fracture, coming from the side of the glass and extending into the windshield. Customer Care first said that all defects, including glass are covered. The dealership where I brought the car (who was not really interested in the problem and assumed it was a stone chip before I even brought the car in) sent in some cell phone pictures, and some local supervisor later denied the claim. VW Customer Care refused to tell me who he is or how he made the determination. They told me to go to my insurance company and that they couldnt do anything for me. This was my first VW and it will certainly be my last!

I called for an itemization report because although I was making payments well above what I owed, it was not reflected in my account. It took three calls to get an itemization report. When I finally got the report, which reflected that my loan had already been paid, but an account balance was being shown as owed. I asked to speak to someone else, which was a manager with an IQ well below 30 and who was obviously really poorly educated. She kept asking me where I was getting my numbers, and I kept telling her from the information you just sent me. She kept telling me that her information was accurate and I owed about a grand, when really they owed me. I told her to add what she gave me, and she told me she did not have time to add 33 payments. I asked to speak to someone else who was going to be proactive and helpful. She told me there was no one else. I have to file a complaint with the BBB and call in a favor from a lawyer to get this issue resolved. These people are thieves and are genuinely cavalier to the fact that they do not know basic math.

I LOVED my car. I loved VW. My purchase experience and countless visits for maintenance through the years were nothing but superb. I bragged about VW to my friends. I planned to buy another VW when my current Jetta needed replaced. However.... two weeks ago I noticed the headliner on the roof of my car was pulling away from the center light and in the back. This was a part of the car that should not fail. I only have 63,000 miles on the car. I have kept it parked in garages both at home and work. The climate is only humid in Georgia in the summer, this isnt Florida or Hawaii. There is no reason this piece should fail. I contacted VW and they outright REFUSED to give me anything towards this repair. They claim my car is too old. SEVEN years is TOO OLD?!? So they expect their customers to replace their cars every 5 years or something? Thats absurd. Ive taken good care of my car this entire time. I planned on it lasting another 3 years and they wont cover a $600 repair? Nope. They would rather lose the 25K purchase they would have gotten from me for my next car. Good riddance VW.

I had my VW Jetta for three years, the problem began when I wanted to purchase the vehicle I leased. It took 3 months of calling to get the payoff in writing. I would call VW Credit and sit on hold for at least 30 minutes, before someone would answer. If I could stay on hold that long, I work full-time, and my Mother had heart surgery, so time was not something I had a lot of. If and or when someone would answer, one of two things would happen. They would disconnect me or tell me they could not help me. Call the dealership. I call the dealership and they tell me to call VW Credit. Finally, I got the payoff, then the check engine light comes on. Guess what happened when I took it to the dealership, the same all over again. Ive been there three times with nothing in writing as to whats wrong with it. Plus an open recall that was not even addressed. I am saddened by the complete disconnect from VW. I have an appointment at a local Ford dealership, that has a former VW technician on staff to diagnose the problem. I really thought VW was a quality product, I never had this problem with a Ford.

Not only are they expensive to repair but when dealing with VW customer service over what should have been a simple warranty issue, I can wholeheartedly say that I would NEVER in my right mind recommend this car manufacturer to any of my friends or family. I gave a 2016 VW CC. Clock spring failed. Paid $187 for the diagnostic. They didn’t have the part. Have been waiting for days for courtesy of help regarding whether my car, which was not in the recall nor part of this extended warranty could be looked into as I’m not believing it’s a coincidence. Their final answer is no. They won’t pay. Ironically, as I was waiting the 10 days it took for the service appointment and I found out my car IS part of the Takata airbag. VW doesn’t have the part. Refuses to offer a loaner. When I kept asking the supervisor who finally had the courtesy of a call back from that I was able to take (they won’t t schedule calls and they wont allow you to hold, so ridiculous) anyway, when I asked if VW recommends I drive the car with the Takata airbag, as you may guess the automaton refused to answer. So VW us unwilling to say, Sure drive the car, they are unwilling to say don’t drive the car. When confronted with the fact that other carmakers (Ford for example) are offering loaners -- they note this is true and have no further comment. When asked if they even acknowledge that these other companies care more about their consumer -- you guessed it. They also don’t value your intelligence and continue to smugly we’ve you a ** sandwich and absolve themselves of any need to act with human decency. Anyway sorry for the ramble here is my question on clock spring: Can anyone confirm the maker on the clock spring? I have obtained the info for the one that prompted the recall, but because the extended warranty is voluntary (and a way to skirt a larger recall, but this issue is still under investigation by the NHTSA), they refuse to give me the manufacturer. The VINs involved are not sequential, so I asked for the volume of cars involved in the extended warranty, they refuse to tell me. The supervisor actually waxed on about how important it is for VW to protect its component manufacturers. Glad they have their priorities in place. Anyone who can help me with information which will bolster the case have both with the NHTSA, I would appreciate. Regarding the Takata I’ve taken my complaint to my local congressperson, because I have a huge issue with the weird, unprecedented say. The NHTSA rolled the Takata recall out despite having the information that millions of cars should have been recalled instead they held off on the recall seemingly at the behest of auto manufacturers who were overwhelmed with the volume of recalls. Perhaps the automakers should fund the NHTSA who is supposed to be a public servant entity to protect the safety of Americans who they are (supposed to be) beholden to — not the financial interest of automakers. I’m actually surprised more people aren’t outraged but possibly they don’t know that the NHTSA chose to hold this information back even though they knew all of these recalls would happen eventually. There are still cars out there now that haven’t been recalled that will be recalled and that the NHTSA is withholding the information and it’s ridiculous.

I called back on that Friday and explained what they had done and asked the CSR again if she was sure that they werent going to try to take the first payment out again before I set up a new one. She assured me that they would not so I went ahead and set up the payment again. Again, she was clueless because they did indeed try to now take out 2 payments! This caused another overdraft fee and a stop payment for the second payment. I called again and they stated that they needed a copy of my bank statement proving the $88.00 in fees so I faxed them the statement and called back 3 days later. The payment had not been processed and the CSR had to place me on hold for 10 minutes to go find the fax! He assured me that a check would go out to me that day. Well, that was 5 days ago so I called back today and another CSR manager apologized and stated that somehow it didnt get send to the correct department for approval so she would take care of it today.
