Volkswagen Automobile Repairs

Volkswagen manufactures cars that owners have come to trust. Even a trustworthy autos require occasional maintenance or repair, however. If you’re in need of Volkswagen Auto repair from experienced professionals, your local Auto Helper can help.

Check Engine Light
This is a very common problem, usually due to the wrong sensor or a software problem. This is a general warning light that tends to pop up more than other, more specific lights, so it can be confusing for you to determine what the issue is. First, if the check engine light is yellow, this indicates a warning rather than an emergency.
Did the light come on while you were driving? Turn off the radio so you can better listen to what’s going on. Here are some common culprits for the check engine light:
• Gas Cap: A loose or damaged gas cap can trigger this light, so tighten it up.
• Faulty Oxygen Sensor: This can be triggered by an emissions issue, another common culprit. The sensor could be faulty or just clogged with dirt. In any case, it will send out an incorrect reading, triggering the check engine light.
• Catalytic Converter: This device converts carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide, and a faulty converter leads to pollution, while at the same time reducing performance and fuel economy. Get it checked out immediately.
• Worn Spark Plugs: These fire up your gasoline engines. They don’t need changing very often but you should get them checked to avoid misfiring.
• Engine Overheating: This is considered an emergency, as an overheating engine can quickly catch on fire. Pullover and check the thermostat. If it’s very hot, pop the hood and call a mechanic.

Vehicle Overheats
Since the VW cooling system only holds a small amount of coolant, it is important to have your vehicle repaired shortly after it shows signs of overheating. Generally, coolant parts should be replaced every 60,000 miles to avoid issues.
If your vehicle does overheat, there are a few different possibilities for the cause of the problem:
A failing coolant reservoir or radiator can result in pressure issues that prevent coolant from reaching the engine, which then overheats.
The engine fan may need a repair or replacement so that air continues to flow properly through the radiator and prevent the vehicle from overheating at low speeds.
A defective thermostat that limits the flow of coolant to the radiator is also an option if your engine is overheating. It may also be necessary to check the coolant temperature sensor. If the reading on the sensor is above 190 degrees, however, there is most likely an issue with your thermostat or water pump.

Airbag Malfunction Light
This is a major safety issue and needs to be addressed. This problem also tends to happen as you approach 100,000 miles. If you see this light come on, take it to a repair shop to get the airbag checked. A malfunctioning airbag is a serious safety threat. Also, you could be fined if pulled over and the police officer notices this light illuminated.

Oil Sludge
Another common issue is when oil sludge builds up, which tends to happen between 70,000 and 90,000 miles. You can prevent this when you follow all manufacturer guidelines on oil changes and the kind of oil used in your car. Make sure you get regular oil changes!

Wiring Harness Shorts
These are problems that seem to happen more with Jettas, usually after hitting about 100,000 miles. Always have electrical problems checked out by a qualified repair shop.

Coil Failure
Passats in particular have issues with coil failures, which occur around the 75,000-mile mark. Call your qualified European car repair shop, as they typically keep these coils on hand to address this common issue.

On the 19th October 2017 my Polo Gti which is still under warranty broke down at approximately 6 pm. This vehicle is currently doing 41000km and is still under warranty. My biggest concern or disappointment is that this car gave no warning and just breaks on a busy street with my family in the car. What if this car had broken down in the middle of nowhere or worst in a dangerous area putting mines and my familys life at risk?I then had to wait two hours for roadside assist to tow the vehicle away. I was told the next day by VW Umhlanga that they busy and my car will be only looked at on Monday. After phoning whoever I could I managed to get hold of service manager of VW Umhlanga who said that he will try have a look at the vehicle that afternoon.Saturday morning I got a call saying they did a software upgrade and the car is fine. 1. Why did roadside assist send a tow truck from Mount Edgecombe to tow the breakdown in Tongaat, is that the nearest breakdown services, because I know its not, I personally know a towing company in the area that is VW accredited. 2. Secondly why was the vehicle towed to Umhlanga who was clearly not willing to have a look at the car till Monday. Had I not made a fight about it, and to my knowledge VW Ballito is much closer.I am now worried as this vehicle has a warranty that ends at 45000km or next year 2018. There was no warning of it breaking and no explanations as to why it did. What if it has similar problems as soon as this warranty expires and the headache and costs of this vehicle now becomes mines. I spent 32000 rand on this vehicle and breaking down in the middle of a busy street was the last thing I expected.I am hoping VW comes up with a solution as to maybe extending this vehicles warranty and guarantee this problem never arises at all. If I do not get a reasonable solution from VW I will make sure I complain on every platform be it the ombudsmen or Hellopeter. I just think that breaking down in a vehicle that costs over 300000R without no warning and just be told by the agents its a software problem and we dont know why it has happened is unacceptable. I am hoping to get feedback from you soon.

I have had leaking issues with my 2007 eos but have been told by dealer every time I had taken in that they could not detect any leaks. When it rained hard it leaks and it leaks on door panel and on part of leather seat. After I picked up car from dealer I would take to car wash. Of course it leaked then just like when it rains really hard. Called volkswagen customer service and they told me that they dont recommend taking to high pressures car wash and that they feel there is no issue. I was fed up constantly taking car to dealer not only for leaking but other issues. My car has condensation on inside of windows and the leather that cover door panels have peeled up from door. Drivers side window control needs to replaced. I will never buy or recommend a volkswagen ever. Dealership or company will not acknowledge any leaking issue.

On March 21st, my daughter was driving her friend to the airport when they smelled something burning. She has a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta Wolfsburg Edition (100K) that she bought when she turned 16 with a majority of her own money. The seat heater malfunctioned and burned a huge hole through her seat and right through her sweatshirt and t-shirt. We have read tons of complaints about the seat heaters. Since the black leather in her car is no longer being manufactured, they want to replace it with a light gray leather. The bottom seat will remain black and they will replace the portion your back rests on with light gray. This is a horrible remedy. She will have one light gray seat and the others will be black. An entire month has gone by and the parts are still not here. The first order was supposedly lost so they placed another order and its on backorder with no ETA. Volkswagen in NO WAY cares about their customers. This is the worst customer service we have ever dealt with. Dont buy a VOLKSWAGEN if you expect to be taken care of! All they do is string you along. I cannot believe that they can continue to get away with this. CUSTOMER Care is a total JOKE! You should honestly be ashamed of yourself for the way you handle serious issues. She was not part of their recall.

Volkswagen is not doing nothing about the problem and Google has a lot of the same complaints that are telling me that it into covered anymore. I have three other vehicles as of as a 1998 Trans Am and I have no problem with the headliner. So much for buying a second Volkswagen, not happening. Headliner is sagging with only 70,000 miles and only five years.

I have a 2011 Jetta Sportwagen, which for the most part has performed well. However recently Ive had a problem with my rear seat-belts seizing up and no longer working. I took them to the dealer and was charged $120 for them to look at it, tell me it would need replacement and I would have to pay $1200 because my car was no longer under warranty. I informed them I purchased the Platinum extended warranty and they said it was not covered. I contacted VW of America. After about a week I finally received a phone call and was told by a Jenny ** that she would see what she could do. A few days later she called back and said I was out of warranty, but they would supply the parts free of charge, but I would have to pay for installation. I told them I appreciated the gesture, but felt that a 3 year old vehicle should not have this issue. I wanted them to stand behind their product and replace the seat belts. I asked to speak to a supervisor and got the runaround, until she finally agreed to talk to her supervisor. Instead of a supervisor coming on the line after I sat waiting to dead air for 5 minutes or so, Jenny came back on and said SHE spoke to the supervisor and the supervisor agreed with her position. I told her I wanted to speak to the supervisor and I wanted the name of the person she spoke to. She kept trying to avoid the issue and then finally said she spoke to Sharonda. I asked to speak to her and was told she could only put my request in the system and someone else would contact me by Monday.

My Advice to all the folks who are even planning to buy a Volkswagen vehicl
My Advice to all the folks who are even planning to buy a Volkswagen vehicle, Dont even think about it. Unless you have lots of money and use and throw car. Its a shame on you Volkswagen!! All the car manufacturers (Its shame for me to say your competitors) are building cars that last for 200K miles and your car is falling apart after 90K miles. I had this car which likes to go back to the workshop every 2 weeks once its marked 90K miles. Its shame on your assembly employees, quality control engineers. Are they sleeping? Or you are not paying them well? Please take all the money that you make from the repairs caused by these breaking parts and give them as bonus. Motivate them to at least build something so that at least you can call yourself as car company. I was always recommending friends about this company... Now I realized big mistake. Sorry VW. Not any more. I changed my advice. None of my friends/colleagues are no more going to buy VW if they get my feedback. To all the folks who are planning to buy - I would suggest instead of buying a vw, just drop $100 into the toilet daily and flush it. That will at least save time from going back and forth between the repairs.

The engine in the 2013 VW GTI we leased burned up at 25,000 miles. Nine days before this happened, the dealership where we leased it from refused to honor the service agreement and misled us as to whether or not it was due for service. As a result at the BBB arbitration between us and the manufacturer, we were held responsible for 1/2 of the cost of replacing the engine on a 2013 vehicle with only 25,000 miles on it. We have had to sue the dealership for the balance we had to pay due to the breach of the service contract. As a result, we have been paying $260/mo five months, the court date is not for another 3 months and we STILL dont have the car back. VW sucks, the warranty sucks, and the service contract sucks. The Customer Care guy (Douglas **) was nice enough though -- Im sure hes just following orders -- not his fault VW corporation cheats its customers on the warranty and the service contract (while still taking our lease payments at $260/mo).

The windshield on my Beetle with 4700 miles spontaneously cracked overnight
The windshield on my Beetle with 4700 miles spontaneously cracked overnight, with no previous stone chips, car crashes or pothole collisions. The break is an obvious stress fracture, coming from the side of the glass and extending into the windshield. Customer Care first said that all defects, including glass are covered. The dealership where I brought the car (who was not really interested in the problem and assumed it was a stone chip before I even brought the car in) sent in some cell phone pictures, and some local supervisor later denied the claim. VW Customer Care refused to tell me who he is or how he made the determination. They told me to go to my insurance company and that they couldnt do anything for me. This was my first VW and it will certainly be my last!

08/10/2019 Volkswagen and Audi Poor REVIEWS, 2 Volkswagen products experiences at early miles, 57,000 to 62.494 2012 Audi A4 and 2014 Volkswagen GTI, known problems by Volkswagen. I had a 2012 Audi A4 with engine light that would come on after 56,000 miles. I brought it in to 3 dealerships in Louisiana. They would tell me they didn’t understand because diagnostics says car is running smoothly. I told them, That’s fine if it’s running smoothly, but selling a car with an engine light is a loss for me, because who wants to buy a car with an engine light. They all said, It must be something intermittent. Lafayette, LA, Baton Rouge, LA, New Orleans, LA. I finally brought it to a dealership in Orlando Florida. I told them to impress me. Audi was good for a next car by fixing my issue. They said, Give us a few days to work on. I did. They charged $989. It was good for 2 months and light back on. Sold that vehicle. The problem was an intermittent overproduction of fuel that no one could fix for good.2014 Volkswagen GTI, guess what, light came on on this one at same mileage, 57,000 to 62,494. I read up on the engine light regarding P2015 code, which is an intake manifold problem, that Volkswagen recognized as a problem, but instead of recalling, they decided to extend warranty to 120,000 miles, but only as a lottery picking of VIN numbers, so if your VIN wasn’t on list, and you had the same problem, you had to pay for this poor quality intake manifold problem. They would clean if only cleaning, $1200. If it involved the worse case, it took changing manifold, of which that would be, needless to say, much more, mind you at 60,000 miles this expensive cost. So yeah, look forward to this much expenses at this early in the life of the vehicle. So one thing is knowing Volkswagen recognized the problem, but treated fix as only some would qualify for extended warranty, and if you experience problem and your VIN wasn’t on list you have to pay. You call Volkswagen Headquarters or customer care, because if there is a problem, and manufacturer is willing to work with you and understand extenuating circumstances, explaining you had two of their products, and they make things good and go the distance, then that’s good, because all you want is a fix/corrective action; however, when you speak to dealership and report to headquarters, and all they want to quote to you is that it’s out of their hands, that your car’s VIN # is not lucky enough to be on the list (lottery/pot luck), ... so you’re stuck with a young car with enormous expenses, after the expensive purchase was not long ago.Yes, bad vehicles of Volkswagen, 2012 Audi A4, and 2014 Volkswagen GTI, both at range of 56,000 to 62,494 miles, you are left up the creek without a paddle and large loss of money. One never was fixed and had to sell at lesser amount because of engine light no one could do anything about. The other is just extreme expense for cleaning or replacement of intake manifold that company recognizes problems, but handles whether warranty is extended or not based on whether your car’s VIN was included, like on a lottery. Thank you. Dwayne **.

On 29th May 2014 I was going to my squadron at Air Force Station Lohegaon on duty in my car Volkswagen polo (**) manufactured in Jan 2013 - insured under United India Insurance policy number **. While on my way to the place of duty, my car went off road and fell into a ditch due to brake failure (speed 35 KMPH). Resulting which I suffered serious injuries in my skull bone (fracture base of skull), nose (2 fractures) and back bone (fracture SV1 and slip disc L5-S1) and since then I am on bed rest and my future career and life is at stake. My car is in a total loss condition. This condition can be directly attributed to the manufacturing/servicing defect by Volkswagen and I hereby demand Volkswagen to give me a written explanation on why such incidence occurred and compensate for my losses in total. Failing to do so will be a direct indication of total disregard towards an officer of the armed forces and armed forces in such.

Occasionally when I take off from a stop and have to suddenly stop or back off the gas and then try to go, the car seems to lag or is suspended between gears (1st & 2nd). Its a lag of about 3 to 4 seconds. The car wont do anything, like its trying to decide what gear to be in. Can be a problem if in the middle of an intersection with traffic coming at you and the car just sits. Have reported to a couple of VW dealers and one said yes he can duplicate the problem but cant do anything to fix it. I have also talk with other Touareg owners with the same issue.

The intake manifold has failed on my boyfriends 2010 CC sport. This part has an extended 10 year/120,000 mi warranty on it. His vehicle is just outside of that warranty in mileage (121,500) and they wont do anything to ease the cost of replacing part. The whole reason they extended the warranty was because they expected the part to fail within 10 years, and its definitely less than 10 years old. Because other car manufacturers would take this into consideration and do some type of prorate of split the difference in parts & labor or something of the like, we called and asked them to do this. And they just dont care. No reason to build brand loyalty, I guess. Every time weve had to deal with them, it has been a head ache - the Takata airbag recall for instance. My mom has a Honda. Honda gave her a rental until they could fix the problem because it is unsafe to drive at the risk of having a collision and being pumped full of shrapnel from your airbags. She got her car back, fixed, 2 weeks ago, though she was in a rental for about a month. When we called VW about it then best response that we could get was why its safe to continue driving it around. Or how the NHTSA doesnt find it unsafe. The funny thing is, I research EVERYTHING. And according to everything I found, the NHTSA is who demanded the recall. VW responded with a letter as to why they should be exempt from it. The recall was issued in 2014, and VW just started recalling in February 2016. Shame on this company for caring so little about its drivers & for being so reckless with consumers lives in general. VERY disappointing. If you want reliability, you may want to go with a less expensive vehicle as they seem to have a better attitude and overall view of customer service.

I consider the official VW parts website to be a reliable source of information. After all you can enter your exact VIN to look up the parts for your specific car. The entire purpose of a VIN # is make sure you get the exact part for your vehicle. However the website it not entirely accurate. I looked up a part for my vehicle (specifically) rear rotor and it gave me the size I needed. It didnt give me an option for more than one size, so that had to be the correct one. The problem was that the part size was completely incorrect. I only noticed the error after I went to install the part of course. I called customer care to state my issue twice and they just said that the information on their website are correct and that is the size I need. So I called my local dealer and they confirmed that the website was inaccurate. I called customer care back week later and this time they acknowledge that after speaking with the dealerships that the website was in fact incorrect.I had to order the part from an independent supplier because the website was giving me false information. They said that since I did not order from them they can not be liable for the information. I tried getting some type of compensation because I just wasted $120 on incorrect parts based on the info they gave me. They said that the website has a data contract on every page that states that the information on their website can be incorrect and subject to change. Keep in mind this is a 2011 vehicle so the information is no longer changing. Basically never use the parts VW website as a source or order parts from the website because the information can be incorrect and they will do nothing about it.

Has anybody else had problems with VW Inchcape dealers in Chester, Cheshire
Has anybody else had problems with VW Inchcape dealers in Chester, Cheshire dealership? I purchased a brand new diesel Volkswagen Golf TDI just under 3 years ago (and have full service history). The cars mileage was 72,000 - reasonable for a diesel engine so the car was out of its warranty, which I am not questioning. However, the crankshaft snapped whilst the car was less than three years old, resulting in major engine failure. It took a repair bill of over £2000 for this to be fixed. The garage that it was taken to had never experienced this problem before and an independent report states it was due to metal fatigue and not misuse or wear and tear.To be fair, Volkswagen had reduced the cost of the replacement crankshaft, however Inchcape have refused to refund the high repair bill. In my opinion they are responsible for the purchase of the faulty crankshaft and hence should take responsibility for this. I am very disappointed that a reliable brand has let me down in this way. I have loved my VW Golf but have lost confidence in it. I invested in a reliable name and feel disappointed in the quality of the engine that I have been supplied with. Any comments or similar experiences would be appreciated. Thank you.

My husband and I have a contractors business so we drive a lot between sites. There were very long and meaningless explanations as to why they couldnt help us with another vehicle. The worst of all is the lack of communication. Not a single person in the dealership knows when their vehicle part will arrive and nobody is letting us know whats going on. If you ask for a date and time, the person will react by saying they dont want to pin on a direct date because they dont want to be held responsible. Purchased a used 2010 Volkswagen cc about a year ago with 70,000 miles. Clean carfax, no accidents. I did have the understanding Volkswagens are expensive to have worked on, but also thought they are supposed to be well built and reliable. The car has been a nightmare from day 1. Just the last 2 months alone the has been in and out of the dealership 5 times. The intake manifold, all the fuel injectors, the fuel pump, fuel pump control module, carbon build up... on and on and just as horrible as the car is the dealership. Ship is just as bad (maybe worse). Volkswagen doesnt stand by their product. They know about all the problems people have with them and they dont care.Just with the fuel system alone I truly dont believe all those parts I mentioned above failed. I think the techs just kept throwing parts at it until it ran at my expense of course. I could keep going and going... Long story short do yourself a favor and buy another brand. I own a 2014 VW Golf TDI that I purchased brand new. Since Ive owned the vehicle I have had all the services done on time and at a VW dealership. The car currently has 40558 miles on it. I had an O2 sensor go bad on me roughly 100 miles ago. I am by no means an expert mechanic but I have been working on cars for a little over 20 years and I couldnt believe how quickly the sensor went out. Even the people at the dealership were completely shocked by how quickly it went out. When I call VW of America they basically told me yeah thats horrible but its your problem. I really thought VW was a better company than that and manufactured better products than that.

I purchased a new 2010 Golf TDI a few years ago. My first VW ever after owning everything from Mercedes to Scion. Ive been impressed by the comfort, performance, and fuel mileage. My problem started about six months ago when, without warning, the car failed to start. Checked all typical causes with no success. After the cost and inconvenience of a tow to the dealership it sat there for several days. They were unable to find the cause of the problem as it started for them. They charged me $105 for the privilege of doing nothing.Fast forward to a few days ago, exactly the same symptoms as before, no start. Towed to the dealership an entire day wasted waiting. The car gets to the dealership and the mechanic goes to look at it and it starts.... Car is at dealership for several days again and the service manager eventually tells me they cant duplicate the problem and cant do anything more.By this point Im furious and call VW USA Customer Care, several phone calls later they essentially tell me the same thing, sorry cant help. So I have a car in the garage Im afraid to drive because of the likelihood of being stranded yet again. I will NEVER buy another VW product; Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, Ducati, etc.Heres the totally unacceptable response I received after posting to VW USA Facebook page: Were very sorry to hear about your experience, and we apologize that we were unable to meet your expectations. Should you experience any further concerns with your Golf and visit your local VW dealer for inspection, please dont hesitate to reach out to us again.

So I grew up fascinated with Volkswagens. I was obsessed with Herbie the love bug, and knew I always wanted a Beetle. I had a 1972 Standard Bug, I currently have a 1972 Volkswagen Bus and I have a 2013 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible 2.0T. As most people in the Volkswagen Scene, Ive decided to modify my car. I took it to a dealer who specializes in a tune which has excellent ratings. Meanwhile Volkswagen knows that the Timing Chain Tensioner on the 2012-2013 betters were an issue. They denied my warranty coverage saying that the tune did this (which is a lie and failed to prove this with testing). I feel like this is another scam like the diesel issue.

We have an EOS 2.0L VW that has under $60,000 miles on it. The car suddenly stopped running at a traffic light in Dec 2014 and has been in and out of the dealer for repairs every two months. We have spent almost $2000 on a massive failure of both fuel pumps (how do they both break?). We have replaced multiple fuel injectors. This car is barely broken in. It is a $35K car and the entire fuel injection system has failed. There were some warranties that reduced the price of repairs, but less than 60,000 miles, are you kidding? VW PR gave us a two week song and dance (** so sweet and has your back) and ** the decision maker who wont even provide his full name for some accountability. They stroked us really well telling us that they were covering every base and they understood how unjustified these types of repairs are at this early age of a car. Two weeks later... after we supposedly cooled down from spending a couple of grand on the inside of the engine repair they told us they would not take the car back. They would not offer any financial assistance. We were left with nothing. At least I can warn others. Do not believe that VW can produce a fuel injection car. Their design is faulty and their parts break easily and one problem creates others. The EOS looks great, but that is only skin deep.

The GTI is one of the best all around cars on the market today as far as overall versatility. It may not be the best in any singular category (performance, mpg, comfort, etc.), but it’s cumulatively better than 90-95% of the cars that it competes against. The GTI’s changes over the model years have been subtle with VW finely tuning & refining a proven & successful platform. I’ve owned cars that were more luxurious, had more performance, were much more aesthetically pleasing design-wise...yet, the 5 GTIs that I own/have owned, have never failed to provide me with an exhilarating drive.

This process took way too long to solve. I had divorced and changed my name before the recall started. In filling out the many pages required by VW, a question was have you had a name change. Oh! I wish I hadnt said yes. I sent proof of name change with an ID. My drivers license. This set me back a month or more with getting my paperwork done. No one had enough common sense to know how to handle a name change. One CS said I needed a proof of a marriage certificate. What??? Marriage certificate, I said, I was divorced. People, I was on the phone for 2 hours and 15 minutes wanting to know how to resolve how to show another way to prove my name change. I sent a copy of the page in my divorce papers that proved my name change. This was not enough. I had to send my whole divorce decree. In my opinion Thats not their business but I sent it anyway thinking I would finally get my appt for the buyback. Two weeks later I was finally approved and then was sent a calendar to make appt. The first available day was another month wait. Ridiculous! Then I found out that the buyback check will be five business days after the appt before depositing. So I asked if a car would be provided for me the five to seven days that I would be without transportation. No! Was the answer. Who does this? I dont have a second car. This whole thing has been very stressful. I will never buy a VW again. Good riddance.

I am very disappointed with Volkswagen Of America. My CC has a recall on the fuel pump since last August. I don’t feel safe driving the car and with children. Volkswagen does not have the fix yet and they don’t know when they will have the part. They would NOT let me out of my lease. They said they could send me a check for two free months of payment. Which I turned around in less than a week to pay for a unexpected repair of the on the car. I left a message for the manager of Vyletel Volkswagen of Sterling Heights MI to see what other options I have. Of course I did not receive a callback. Volkswagen of America will not provide any other options except for me to pay off our lease. It’s very disappointing after we have been customers with Volkswagen since 2005 and we never had a issue with our prior cars. I have filed a complaint with Federal Safety. Next step to file with State Attorney General!

Have a 2012 Volkswagen CC that needs 7200.00 worth of engine work on a part that broke before it was even due to be inspected based on Volkswagen’s service maintenance guide. Called Volkswagen to see if they would cover the repair, or at least give me some kind of assistance. They basically said my warranty was up, I’m on my own. Which really surprised me. My reasoning for asking Volkswagen to make an attempt to correct this problem, was that their service maintenance guide said, “90,000 miles, timing chain and tensler should be inspected, and possibly replaced. Well my timing chain, and tensler did not make it to the 90,000 mile inspection. Which in turn destroyed my cylinder head when it broke. Leaving me with a 7,200.00 repair bill. BUYER BEWARE!!! VOLKSWAGEN CARES NOTHING ABOUT BEING FAIR, HONEST, OR TAKING CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS. If youre looking for a car, spend your money elsewhere.

I come from a family of people that buy and purchase VWs. So naturally I bought one. However, I have had issues with my 2009 VW GTI (purchased brand new) since the start. When I first purchased my VW, there was a fuel issue, and they replaced it. Then there was a filter that stunk like mold, they replaced it. Then there was a recall on part of my transmission, they replaced it. My car started hesitating on the freeway when I accelerated, right after the recall replacement. I should have known by this time that the car needed to be traded, but I was stupid. I thought its a VW, they are great cars and so much fun to drive! Everything at this point got even worse. My battery died, or so I thought. I took it to VW and they told me that I needed a new computer. Somehow, insurance covered this and I ONLY had to pay my $500 deductible. I informed them that my car kept hesitating on the freeway. They said to drive it a certain amount of miles and it should reset. I did, and it didnt reset. After a few weeks, I took it back to the dealership. They said I need a new valve that was several hundred dollars. I called VW of America and they offered to pay for half, since it was a defect. Several weeks went by and the car started doing the same thing again. I took it back to the dealership they said its a valve that needs to be replaced. They covered the cost of the valve because it was part of the original issue. I picked it up. The next day, the engine light went off again, and the car was still hesitating. After several days, I called the dealership. They told me it was bad gas and to refuel it and drive around. I did this. After several days, I again took the car back to the dealership. This time, they said it was another valve, and they replaced it. They also told me that if the engine code came on again that they would have to replace the turbo. So now they are telling me that I need a new turbo and have to pay $2200.00. Everything else they were willing to cover because it was part of the covered recall issue, but now that its $2200.00 I have to pay for it. I called VW of America to see if they could help. The woman said that they arent going to pay for it and that its not their responsibility. I said, Thats funny because you knew it was your responsibility up until it was $2200.00. She told me that is her final decision, there was no one above her and thats it. I now have a car that needs new turbo... I am beyond upset and will never buy or drive a VW again! I am trying to sell my piece of crap because I cant even look at it with getting pissed off. The woman by the way did offer me a $750 credit towards a new VW. I have to admit I was speechless. She was willing to give me $750 towards a new car, but not towards my problem that I called about???? Thats ridiculous.

I would have thought that Volkswagen would have learned from their mistakes and lies that caused them humiliation and tarnished their repute and customer loyalty. I thought VW is sincere to fix this emission issue and work with impacted consumers. I suffered twice by this VW fraud, first after knowing that I had been polluting the air and destroying our environment by driving my 2012 Passat TDI, and then not been able to use the car for months as it failed SMOG test. I was hoping to get rid of it after the court settlement, but I got into an accident and car got totaled. But unfortunately, due to the diesel emission fraud the car resale value went so low and I literally got 1/3 of the original price I paid, which was not enough to even buy a decent used car.I was hoping that upon VW fraud case settlement, I should be compensated for the balance, but after such a long wait, I found out that the registration for the fraud claim I did in October/November 2015 was not sufficient and I had to submit another claim for which the deadline was September 2016!!! When I didnt hear from VW on the claim and what are the next steps for me, I was told that I was supposed to sign a different claim (not the goodwill claim, that I signed up). As I had not submitted another claim, I am not eligible for the VW settlement Claim anymore!!! This is really sad and BAD customer service. I called their customer service team, who was not able to assist me with this and Im not going to get anything for this fraud that they committed. They asked me to call their legal team to address the issue. After leaving multiple messages, I received call from Casey **, who told me the same that I missed the deadline to apply to be eligible for claim and theres nothing that can be done now. Im very disappointed and disgusted by this whole ordeal by such a reputable organization (at one point), they lied, and screwed up big time, and now cutting corners to avoid paying consumers. In this entire ordeal, I learned my lesson and for sure will never buy another car from VW, Audi or whoever theyre affiliated with. Volkswagen still cheating with consumers on emission. VW management shame on you!!!

One perk that sold me on my purchase of my Certified Volkswagen Tiguan was the car replacement or loaner auto promise (if car was disabled and had to be in the shop for over a day). However, I have had numerous occasions in which I had to leave my car at the VW service shop for repairs and was told there were no cars available or that there was nothing they could do. Either Volkswagen vehicles are spending more time in the shop than they are on the road or someone (i.e. Volkswagen) does not honor the promises made at the time of sale. Regardless of the answer, I would not recommend the purchase of a Volkswagen to anyone. This is my first and last Volkswagen vehicle purchase based on the poor service and misleading warranty information.

Sometime in March, 2019 I decided to bring my car in for evaluation - there was some strange rattling noise coming from the front left area around the wheel. I called the numbers listed on Island VW website and I couldnt get a hold of anyone because the line would either ring and then disconnect or go to straight to a busy line. I tried the chat on their website, but no one responded because I am guessing I was doing this at 830am. Then I called the sales number a few times and by some chance someone answered in sales and that person was the one who scheduled my appt, not the service dept. I brought my car in, I left it over the weekend for inspection, and on Sat I was called (Jimmy) and told the left axel (?) was worn off and that it needed to be replaced.I picked up my car a few days later and the next day I heard the same noise. I thought I was imagining things so I waited until my partner drove the car and said that the issue is indeed still there. I drove for another three days just to make sure we are not going to call and complain for no reason. Once established that the issue is there, I called the dealership. Same problem again. The line rings and disconnects. OR it goes to a busy signal right away. I waited another day or so and attempted again. Same issue again. I tried the chat and demanded that someone calls me. Jimmy called and I explained my problem. I said I would like to bring my car in again because the issue hasnt been resolved.I asked that they provide me with a loaner this time as my work demands me to travel from one clinic in the morning to another in the middle of the day. He said they didnt have any loaners. Then I asked them to cover for a rental that I would rent in order to get to work. He said that wouldnt work either. So I had to accommodate my schedule, wait until a weekend that I dont work to bring the car in. He agreed. At this point, while speaking with him, the phone disconnected twice!! So when he told me, Call us next week when you know when youll be able to bring the car I explained that calling their dealership is close to impossible, as evidenced by the dropped calls. He gave me his cell phone number and said to contact him there. And I did. Left a vm, waited several days and when no one called me, I decided to call Volkswagen America Customer Service, on 4/30 or 5/1. I spoke with a lady Renee who tried contacting the dealer herself. She ran into the same issue, the lines werent working. So she said she would continue to call and get back to me. On 5/1 she left a vm on my cellphone, stating that she was still not able to get a hold of them but that she would be able to schedule me an appt on the website. However, at this point I had missed the weekend I was off and I needed them to provide me with a car to get to work. She said she wouldnt be able to do that online. The next day, she called me and said her manager was able to get a hold of someone in the dealership who explained that they dont have loaner cars at that time and when one becomes available they would call me. Guess what? That call never came. At this point, I decided to call my bank and file a dispute. I have three VW at home and I will never, EVER, buy another one. I am selling them all and will be buying something else. Which is a bummer because I never had an issue with any of my cars. I bought them in Seattle, Carter VW, had the best experience with them. Everyone else related to VW was a disastrous experience.

I am so unhappy with the service and the cars Ive been driving. It is one problem after the other. My problem is you guys keep on fixing how many times must a new car be fixed. I changed my previous Polo for the new Polo because of the problems it gave me and the constant fixing. The new Polo is a bigger piece of rubbish with endless issues. Can you just take your car please. Im not interested in any more fixing. I had enough. This is what Ive been experiencing: wind sound problem, the brakes noise, the 2 seat belt campaigns, the handbrake campaign, an Issue with the handbrake, I had an issue with the tyre alert thing as well. It said that the left rear was low but the right rear had a puncture, And now to top it all off its raining in at the sun visor. I was soaking wet yesterday by the time I got home from work. Please understand I do not need these kind of problems from something I pay EVERY month. I bought the car from VW at Edenvale.

About a month later (definitely not within the qp days VW was supposed to respond). I got a final offer letter. I signed the correct places, had it notarized and faxed it on as directed. Two weeks and two phone calls later to customer support the status remained as waiting for fax. So I faxed the documents again. Another wasted phone call to CS to find out why they dont/cant acknowledge receiving my fax... Then I get an email stating I didnt send all pages of my offer. So back to another fax ($8) every time. Twenty four hours later status is waiting for fax... I have transmission receipt showing all 7 pages were successfully sent. Another call to CS and again they give me a non answer... 2008 VW Touareg V8 - This is my 6th VW. Ive always thought they were well built cars, and truthfully, I think this one is a well built car for the most part. About 4 months ago (at around 55,000 miles) the Touaregs oil warning light came on. We pulled the car over and had it towed to the local independent shop that normally takes care of our maintenance. The area dealership was purchased by Lithia several years ago and weve tried them a few times and every time its been a cluster ** of poor service. Our independent shop admittedly doesnt know that much about VWs but all weve needed them to do up until this point is oil changes. They called VW of A and were encouraged to change the sensor for the oil warning light because the pumps never fail. They changed the sensor ($600) and that did nothing. At this point they suggested we try the dealer as being someone that works on these all the time. Ive never trusted Lithia and hated to go there, but arranged to have my vehicle towed over to their service department. I called and told them it was coming and they took all the information (this was on a Tuesday) and said they were swamped but had me scheduled for service on Friday and said theyd call Friday evening. They didnt. I called Friday morning and the service adviser told me he had no record of ever receiving my car, but said theyd look around. A couple hours later they call and say its sitting in the lot and tried to somehow blame it on the tow company even though I had a signed receipt from the service manager for receiving the car. They apologized for his stupidity (the tow truck drivers) and said theyd bump me to the top of the list and could have me in by Friday. Remember, Id been scheduled for the previous Friday. I hate to piss off a guy working on my car in the same way I hate to piss off someone thats cooking my food, so basically I just reminded him that Id been scheduled for last week and asked him to do what he could to get the car in. I didnt hear back for two weeks and I had called and left several messages asking them to call. When they did call, the adviser is joking around about the stupidity of the tow company again and and how that guy had really screwed me and then slips in that I need a new oil pump and theyll have to pull the engine and its going to cost $4,200.00 They have to pull the engine to change the oil pump.My past experience with them being what it was, I told him to hold on and said I was going to call around for other options. The next nearest dealer is 2 1/2 hours away and no one else locally wanted to work on it. I called VW of A to ask if I could speak with some sort of tech adviser but was told they didnt have anything like that only a case manager for complaints. I did say that I would like to speak with the case manager and she promised to have someone call within 24 hours. I got a call three days later. I mentioned my previous experiences with this dealership and lack of confidence in their honesty firstly but also their competence and wanted it on record before anything started because I knew I didnt have any reasonable options. It was noted. I called Lithia and asked if there was any way of knowing if any damage had been done to the motor and was assured they would not proceed if that were the case and said there was practically no chance anything had happened to it anyway because of the robust construction of the engine and the car has safeguards to protect itself. I reluctantly gave them the okay to proceed. A month later they called and told me the car was done but that they wanted to have one of their techs drive it home (an hour away) to just make sure everything was okay. They must have driven it around the parking lot and determined they couldnt do that because they called back a half hour later and said the check engine light had come on and they wanted to look at the codes and would call me back. This was on a Friday and they called me Monday and said they were going to have to pull the engine again. This was my service adviser again and he promised me it wouldnt cost me a penny more, and they just wanted to check everything out. I contacted VW of A again and noted what was going on. They again promised me that my case manager would follow up within 24 hours. And again it was two or three days before she called. Theyre all trained to commiserate with you and tell you how bad they feel that this is happening and assure you that this is not typical for Volkswagen service and theyre doing everything they possibly can to help resolve this issue. Uh huh... Lithia had the car for another month claiming that a gasket or seal had failed and it wasnt their fault but that they needed to change the cam chains now and there werent any in the country but they were being air freighted from Germany and again assured me it wouldnt cost a penny more than the original quote of $4200 and the car would be perfect.Back together and another check engine light. The engine comes out again. Now it needs cam adjusters and there arent any in the country. After 3 months we got the car back. The bill was $4,900 but he finally relented and stood by his original guarantee of not being a penny more than the $4,200.00 He said it should have cost us $15,000.00. I called again to speak with my case manager and again was promised shed call me within 24 hours. Someone did call me within 24 hours this time but it wasnt her. They were calling me to tell me she was out of the office and would call me when she got back in. She did, two days later. I told her again about the 3 months, the multiple engine pullings, the lack of communication from the dealership, etc etc and said I wanted an official complaint about the service and wanted them to know I had zero confidence in my repair. We drove it for a week and the check engine light came on. We took it back in to have them check it out and were told two days later that multiple codes had gone off and they had an engineer coming in the next day to help them diagnose the problems. Now, (over a week later) someone Ive never spoken with before called and said the engineer still hadnt been in (not their fault) but they suspected I needed a new engine. That call was this morning. This is Lithia Volkswagen in Des Moines Iowa.I just got off the phone with VW of A and was again assured of how much they cared about my situation and reiterated that this is not how VW does business and that they were doing everything within their power to make sure this situation is being resolved and that that resolution will be my renewed confidence in VW, blah blah, blah... and my case manager will call me within 24 hours.Ive owned six and Ive talked others into buying them. People ask me maybe monthly how I like my Volkswagen. For the last couple of years Ive still encouraged the car while saying I hadnt had good experiences with the dealership. Ive always conceded though that those could have just been bad luck and they shouldnt go by my opinions but should check into them themselves. I wont say that anymore, not about Lithia, and not about Volkswagen.

I contacted VW Roadside Service for assistance and spoke with a customer service representative (CSR) named Tammy. She was very abrupt and discourteous as I tried to communicate why I needed Roadside Service. My front left tire blew out. I contacted the VW Roadside Service. The CRS asked if I had vehicle warranty and after she checked she said I did not have the warranty. At that point she became nasty and abrupt in taking my vehicle information. She told me that Roadside Service did not change tires. She did not listened to the information that I gave her and she kept telling me this does not work speaking about my credit card when that was incorrect. There was nothing wrong with my credit card. If she had listened to me she would have gotten it right the first time.My husband and I have purchased several vehicles from VW over the years and I am very disappointed and angry at the treatment I received when I was in need of HELP. I did not think VW Roadside Service is only for consumers with warranties on their vehicle. I will not use or recommend this service to anyone else. There are other Roadside Services that are much nicer than this one!

My son was parked with the engine running, listening to the radio. The engine burst into flames and exploded three times. He was parked up against a building across the street from our apartment. It was determined it was due to a malfunction in the engine, and we were reimbursed for the car by our insurance company. Our son could have been killed, but Volkswagen, which is doing a big ad campaign about safety, refuses to pay the building owner for the damage or to reimburse us for our $1000 deductible. There was a recall, but even though we bought the 2-year-old Bug from a dealership and had it serviced at a dealership, we were not advised of this major problem with the car. Forget safety in a VW. Forget responsible compensation from VW.

I drive a GTI and have had the intake manifold fail three times in a row. Despite servicing the car according to plan, using official Volkswagen parts and mechanics, the customer care refuses to assist with a part that is obviously flawed. I have had to replace this intake manifold, a part that costs more than $1000, repeatedly, and have had no solution offered, and no offer to repair that vehicle. This part has failed after 20,000 miles each time. Obviously an issue with the engine and substandard parts used, still no help from customer service. I will not buy Volkswagen again and certainly not recommend them to others.

Full bumper to bumper extension of the factory warrantee from 4 years, 50,000 miles to 6 years 85,000 miles. Covers all non-consumable items and includes roadside assistance. Melds nicely with VWs Car-net. Yes, you need a VW service department BUT there are plenty in the area that I primarily drive and there are so few truly qualified local mechanics in the area. With all of the electronics on my new car, I needed the peace of mind, that if even a minor component occurs, the vehicle would be repaired with genuine VW parts by factory trained service techs.

After purchasing a brand new 2019 Atlas, it has been nothing but a nightmare. From cylinders not firing, bad spark plugs, blaming us for putting bad gas in... Now on 3 visits, then a faulty battery which a corporate mechanic had to find. It has been nothing but a disaster! To top it all off, we want to get rid of this LEMON and that has become an even harder process. Not only does this car violate CA law for having multiple issues on a specific part of the car, my 3-year-old has been in the car with me on two separate occasions when it has decided to randomly shut off. VW corporate was not phased by this at all. When purchasing this vehicle, my husband and I turned in a perfectly good, special edition BMW and received this piece of crap! Instead of actually taking care of my family, VW corporate insists that they will only pay us for the difference of the BMW and car payments. Myself, my husband, and my sons life was in jeopardy while driving this car, but clearly empathizing with hard-working decent people is not in this business interest. My family has purchased from VW for over a decade, but that will not happen again. Not only are they not taking care of our needs while trying to split ties with their company, they sent a completely incompetent email to us with false options and that demand we send items to send to them? I am in the business sector and business is not conducted in such a fashion as this.I also want to point out that because the email was so poorly composed, I could press legal matters around the areas addressed. This is a very stern warning that if you are looking to purchase a family vehicle this is a horrific option. I am extremely disappointed with this company and cannot believe they claim to service everyone and will not accommodate those who have been experiencing issue after issue, two being highly dangerous, and do not know the meaning of taking care of loyal customers. Such a shame!!

This complaint is in reference to the Driver Side Takata Airbag being recalled as unsafe and potentially deadly. I am leasing a Volkswagen CC. This is the second VW Ive owned. I was notified almost a year ago that my car has been affected by the Takata airbag recall (Driver side airbag) and I have been driving an unsafe vehicle this whole time! There is obviously no fix for this yet and who knows when/if they will ever repair the problem. I have tried working with the VW Dealership that I leased it from as well as VW Credit and also, Ive been trying to sell this vehicle however, as you can imagine no one will buy this VW because of the recall! Who in their right mind would want to?!?! Yet, Im expected to drive an unsafe car and continue paying for it as well! This seems fraudulent and illegal to me yet I have no recourse. This is totally insane!!! Shame on Takata and Volkswagen for getting away with this!!! I requested that VW buy back the leased car from me. They want an exorbitant amount of money and to my surprise they said they couldnt help me!! They said it is an issue for Volkswagen America to fix... So now Im stuck with a vehicle that no one will buy including VW!! Im truly disgusted by the whole experience and the company. Although I cant even put into words what I truly think about this company! This isnt my first VW but it will definitely be my last one!!!

After having issues with our dashboard lights going crazy, we began reading other complaints online. We learned that the issues we were having came directly from a faulty ABS module, and then came across a VW recall on our car for the ABS module. After talking to VWs Recall Department, they told us it did indeed fall under the specific recall, and we could take it into any dealer for a fix. Our car went in on a Tuesday morning, and after 3 days of poor customer service and no answers, the mechanic let us know the ABS Module would not be covered, and we would have to pay out of pocket. He said he had even called VW directly to verify they wouldnt pay for it. We were then quoted $1300 for the repair, plus a $225 diagnostic test. He suggested I call them directly.I called the VW Recall Department again, and told them what happened. I let them know my biggest concern was the fact that they told us our car was part of this recall, and they were now unwilling to fix the issue. I also let them know the ABS brakes have always caused me issues, nearing killing me when I lost control while braking once. They said they would write it up, and look into it and get back to me in one business day. I am waiting to hear back, but there has been a lot of reason to think they will just use some excuse to not replace something so dangerous and faulty. Well see.

Extended Warranty. I purchased a 2010 Volkswagen Passat with an in-service date of 10-18-10 (warranty coverage begins). After being a loyal customer for 10 years, the company refuses to cover an P2015 Intake Manifold Runner Sensor Engine issue covered by an extended warranty if the vehicle is 120K miles or less and within the 10-year warranty. My engine light alerted me on 10-23-20. So, over the weekend I had the codes ran at AutoZone which identified the problem. On Monday 10-26-20 I called my local dealer and they informed me of the extended warranty stating I was merely 6 business days outside of the 10 year requirement but well under mileage at 92K. They suggested I call VW corporate to get this approved. I spoke with a very nice lady and then her boss and despite their professionalism, they refuse to work with me to help get this fixed. They said they simply cannot go beyond the 10 years even if it is a few days and mileage is well under. This is a VW part issue, not something user caused. Needless to say, this leaves a very bad taste in my mouth that rigidity and greed come before flexibility & doing what is right, especially during these times. This organization seems to lack compassion and the know-how of retaining long term loyal customers relationships & viewing each situation and customer as valuable.

Our 2014 leased Volkswagen Jetta broke down in NH in March 2016. We live in Rhode Island. The car was suddenly billowing black smoke and all dash lights were on. We pulled off to the side of the highway, pulled out the auto roadside brochure and called the number on the cover. Their customer service rep took all our information. He took our phone # and said he would make the arrangements for the car to be towed and find a rental car agency that was open as it was Sat night and approaching 9 pm. I received a TEXT from him with the name of the tow company that would pick the car up and that had called the only car rental agency open in the area (Manchester Airport 91.7 miles from our home). He told them we would be there shortly as they were about to close. He provided us with a discount call that they honored. Our car was towed to the nearest Volkswagen dealership Autofair Manchester NH 87.8 miles from our home. The car was repaired the following Monday afternoon. We picked it up early Tues morning and returned the rental to the Manchester Airport. Per the instructions in brochure we submitted the charges for the tow 79.00 and 221.00 for the rental. We then received 2 denials of reimbursement. The tow was denied because they said we used a tow service that was not authorized. WE did not choose the tow service, the rep at the Volkswagen Roadside Service did. The text he sent me clearly stated that. They denied the rental car charge saying their parameters are 100 miles. We appealed the denials with Customer Service and they too denied both claims. Needless to say it never crossed our minds to ask the rep of Volkswagen Road Service to use an authorized Volkswagen tow service. We asked how they calculated the distance to our home from NH, they didnt know. We are both in our 70s and had a lease to ensure that we had dependable car backed by reliable customer service in the event of auto malfunction. Obviously this was an assumption on our part. The last agent we spoke with (Martin) at Volkswagen said he was sorry but thats the way it is. The experience of sitting along a busy highway for 2 hours was not pleasant one, but nothing compared to the deceitful business method of Volkswagen. Though we are well aware that Volkswagen could not care, but we will no longer give them our business nor will recommend them to anyone we come in contact with.

By far the worst dealer experience ever. Bought a 2015 Golf TDI last year. I purchased an alarm system and finally got tired of the remote not working so I had the dealer take the alarm out. I told the service manager that I wanted the alarm parts to take with me. I paid for them. She said no. After a quick talk with the latest of many upper management replacements who apparently quit or get canned weekly, they made her run across the street and retrieve the alarm. She returned with the main component but with no wires/plugs. Whatever. She then told me... Volkswagens dont work with alarms. This comment came straight from the service manager. I then spoke to the salesman who sold me the car and he told me, after a long conversation about how much he disliked working for VW, that I should of never bought a diesel as Vw, and this particular dealership, had no mechanics that even knew how to work on diesels. This dealership also sells Mazdas. My last 4 vehicles have been Mazda 3s. Over 500,000 miles on them with only one strut needing replacement. The salesperson told me that I should of purchased another mazda 3 as they are better cars and the mileage differences between the 2 brands are very close now.AVOID VW. I AM MAKING TRIPLE PAYMENTS ON THE GOLF TO HOPEFULLY SELL IT without too much of a loss AFTER 1 YEAR. (SAD) Volkswagen SHAME ON YOU FOR BEING LIARS, UNETHICAL, STUPID, AND BELIEVE ME; THEIR PROBLEMS START CLEAR AT THE TOP. I gave them so many chances to make things right. VW passat 2009 - I have seen many posts written about the tire cupping issue and was wondering if anyone had heard any explanations. I was told that the TDI and non diesel Passat have the same chassis, and this is the reason for the cupping. The suspension system should not be the same for the diesel as the non diesel due to the weight difference. Now, along with the FOURTH set of tires Im needing you buy (51000) I have learned two wheels have a crack on inner side which is causing tires to leak. Anyone else experience this?? I have two vehicles through Volkswagen Credit. Both were brand new (Jetta and Passat). I loved the dealership and my experience buying my vehicles. My experience with Volkswagen Credit has been unsatisfactory to say the least. They have horrible customer care and have treated me like just another loan and not a person. They caused a huge amount of turmoil through my finances by double charging me on a payment due. They caused an NSF fee on my bank account due to double charging me. It took them 2 weeks to mail a check back to me for the double payment and were unapologetic. While speaking with multiple customer care staff members and mostly the supervisors, they were not helpful in resolving any problems. This is just one account of a few I have had with them. An addition to this, they mailed out my first payment AFTER it was due and was of little help when I called to explain the issues to them. After this new car is paid off, I WILL NEVER go through VW Credit again! They have made my car buying experience uneventful and unpleasant. I highly recommend a trusted bank/credit union. The gm basically told me that leasing from them is buying the car, and there is nothing he can do and I have to learn the hard way and take the car. He kept stating that it wasnt like Walmart, and when I asked him about the early termination statement in the lease he asked for it, and said that he doesnt have one because everything is on the computer and so they dont have a copy of it. I purchased a 2014 VW Jetta last year from the dealer. My first time in for service was recently. I was not impressed. I had some minor complaints about parts not working up to standard. Without getting long winded, the gist of the story is, everything seemed to be an issue and not under warranty for whatever reason, blah blah blah. I had owned a Mazda for years prior, and never had ANY issues with warranty work being done. Even the smallest complaint and they fixed it right up, no questions asked. I dont care how good they think their vehicles are. This resistance at the service counter will not deter me from a future purchase of a Volkswagen product.

I have had VW wagons with sunroofs all my life. They have been incredible and reliable. I have never had a problem until my 2017, 20k miles sunroof leaking, the dealer says it’s clogged tubes. What in the world??? The car lives in the garage and it’s new. None of my family members car have given problems under the same circumstances.

I have never been so dissatisfied with help from customer service. I called 3-29-17 about my stereo system. Ive had the car 7 years and this is the third time Im replacing the stereo system. I bought the extended warranty and the first time I replaced the radio it was covered only by the extended warranty. 3 years later, the radio stopped working and I was told Volkswagen customer service would not replace it. Volkswagen claims to stand by their product; I have not yet to experience that with Volkswagen. This is my second Volkswagen and will definitely be my last.

Beware of leasing through VW Credit! I have leased for 20+ years and I have never gone through the issues Im going through with VW Credit after turning in my 2009 Jetta 3,000 miles under mileage! They will rake you for every little ding, scratch, burn, tires, normal wear and tear, anything they can get from you. I will never lease from them again! I am starting a website for other people Ive had contact with to share similar stories. So when the site is complete, I will make sure everyone knows how they do business.Ive never had to pay for tires (they were exactly where they should have been when turning it in). You can turn in a Honda, Toyota, Lexus, etc. with bald tires and they wont bother you! It’s normal wear and tear after 36 months. Ive only ever had to pay for over mileage! VW Credit is ridiculous and I, nor my friends, family, neighbors or co-workers will ever do business with them again!

I have owned many VWs in my life and unfortunately, this will be my last. I have had nothing but problems with my 99 Passat 1.8T. It recently started to suffer the dreaded sludge issue. VW does not care. The car is old. Time to buy a new one, says the dealer. They give out the wrong information for maintenance with the vehicle and now its too bad for me the car is old apparently. The owners manual says to use conventional or synthetic. Conventional oil sludges these motors and now Im sol. So, I would highly suggest that no one buys a VW. Unfortunately, I just got a 2011 TDi. Now Ill have to find somewhere to trade it in before I need to service it somewhere and they tell me to buy a new one.

My VW Jetta has some trouble starting today. So I took it to VW of Coconut Creek, FL to have it checked out. They said they would charge me $138.50 for diagnosis and if I get the device done after that, they would apply this charge against the service. They found the problem with my battery and replaced it, however they didn’t deduct the diagnosis charge from final invoice. They charged me ~$300 ($147 for new battery, $138.50 for diagnosis and test shop supplies, misc and tax). When I asked, they said the$138.50 was for installing the battery and setting it up. That is just bizarre. They just made up something to charge me more. I am reporting this so people are aware of this practice and avoid using this dealer as much as possible.

After three years and 54,000 miles, the automatic DSG transmission failed on my 2009 VW GTI. Over the past three years, I complained to the service department (North Penn Imports) about the problems I was having. Each time, they stated that it was operating normally. I have each case documented. Now that the transmission has failed completely (does not go into gear or shift), the dealer and Volkswagen have denied my warranty due to the fact that I have some aftermarket parts on my car and that these parts caused the failure. They have offered no explanation of how they caused the failure. As of now, they are replacing the transmission at my cost of over $3000.

Faulty seat recliner - I have owned a new Gold Cabriolette for nearly a year now. I love it, except for one repetitive and irritating fault - the seat release to swing the seat forward to move so you can access the rear seats is made of a plastic material attached to a metal shaft that releases the seat mechanism. The connection between the plastic handle and the metal shaft is continually breaking. When this occurs, you cannot access the rear seats as the seats will not move. You must return again and again to have VW dealer reattach the handle to shaft. What an absurd mechanism. Why cant they have one metal handle shaft that does not break every time you touch it?

On Monday, April 16, 2018, I had the unfortunate mishap of my car stalling out while I was on my way to lunch. We had to have the car towed to a mechanic where it was determined that my 2012 VW CC with roughly 86,000 miles suffered from what is being called a ‘Catastrophic Engine Failure’. I was told by the mechanic this was not our fault and the car shows no signs of neglect. My mechanic has given me a quote to replace the engine, with a used engine that has approximately 70,000 miles on it, at a cost of $9,849.57. If I was to replace the engine who’s to say that this problem wouldn’t happen again. After hearing this news I started to do some research. I have come across several articles and claims that there are issues with the Timing Chain Tensioner on various vehicles; which, include the year, make, and model of mine. It seems Volkswagen is aware of this issue but refuses to do anything about it. I have contacted Volkswagen twice already and have not gotten any help.I now have a car that I am still paying for (car note and insurance) that I cannot drive. I really hope that Volkswagen will take this issue seriously as this could have happened to me the day before as I was traveling home on a busy highway from out of town. I have always like the Volkswagen name and their vehicles but the way things are being handled by them I am beyond frustrated!

I have a 2013 VW Tiguan in mint condition except for the paint, its fading or discoloring. See my photos attached. I am absolutely totally upset about this and paying $500 a month car payment to look at this everyday. I talked to the dealer in Orlando FL and no help whatsoever. They referred me to VW USA and I spoke to them and put a claim in only to tell me that I dont have any issues with my paint. As you can see in the photos attached there is a clear picture of the discoloration. I feel VW is being unfair as this is their branding and being negligent with their warranty not the paint.

I leased a 2012 CC for 3 years and now Im financing because Im tired of having a car payment. I have 51K miles on the car and got a 48K mile warranty with the new financing. I have got all the scheduled maintenance done at the dealership, Palisadas VW in NY, and have never been told about a carbon build up. So a month or 2 ago, when I started the car when the engine was cold, I was getting a putting like feel and sound coming from the exhaust. I felt nervous driving the car but once the car was warm and on the highway, everything was good. I took the car to the dealership. I have the top of the line warranty so why not, and the guy said since the Check Engine Light isnt on, the warranty wont cover it but once it does come on to bring it in and hell get it cleaned. So last week the light came on. I brought the car to the dealership right away. Well what do you know, the warranty doesnt cover it. And to top it all off, they want to charge me $1100. Im beyond pissed. I called VW Corporate and now Im in a fight with them. After seeing that other people have had the same problem, its like they put keep that out of the warranty so they can bang you over the head when you need it done. I tried to tell the woman from Corporate that they can easily call this little dealership and tell them what to do and they will listen quickly. Every dealership will do whatever to keep corporate from calling. I forgot to mention that this is my second car with VW. I Leased a Jetta for 3 years, and paid off the while lease within 6 months, and now leased my CC for 3 years, and financed for 5 years. Ive never had a late payment. Im your ideal customer. Im also a combat veteran. So corporate says they want to put a fuel injector cleaner type into the car and see if that works. They did that today and when I spoke to the service guy at VW we both agreed that it wasnt going to do anything. He asked if I could leave the car overnight so the tech can cold start it in the morning and they were authorized to do the procedure again. I said to do it, might as well since its free, and I have to the steps corporate spoke about. As I was writing this, corporate called. I told her I was doing research and seeing other people having the same problem and that I was so angry. Of course she said We dont want you to be angry, and I said we both know theres only one way Im not going to be angry and thats to just clean it properly. I told her I wouldnt have bought the car if I knew this would happen. I wouldve leased or financed something new or left VW all together. So we shall see tomorrow how this soap opera continues. I will fight this to the end and take it as high up the ladder as need be. I recommend that if other people are having the same problem to contact corporate and fight with me. Thanks for reading, God bless and Fight The Power.

I had a 2009 VW Rabbit under warranty with the same exact issue. The door curled up like a piece of paper. My issue is the same as yours. VW, nor the dealership, ever bothered to inform me of the issue of ice getting trapped in the door, and causing the door to curl up like a piece of paper in the same way yours did. Because they never bothered to inform me, I assumed someone hit my door, and ended up paying to have this fixed at an independent shop, for something they should have taken care of under warranty. The dealership (Flynn Volkswagen) couldnt be bothered to install the foam fix inside the door before the car was sold new in 2011 two years later before it even left the lot, which would have prevented the problem from occurring in the first place.

The car looks great on the outside, the inside as well. Very comfortable car and spacious. The drive is smooth and affordable in gas. Its not a big SUV and not too small. Enough room to fit 5 people and a large trunk. Very happy with the design of the vehicle. As for the engine, I did have a few issues. Instead of a timing belt its a chain which needs to be changed and very costly. The pieces are ok in price but had to add some extra money on top of my payments. That was the downfall of this purchase.

I surrendered my Volkswagen Jetta for the diesel recall on 1/18/17 and Volkswagen has not paid off my lender as of todays date. I continue to make my payments to keep my account current and preserve my credit, even though I have signed power of attorney over to Volkswagen. I am not making any progress with Volkswagen. Its a different story every time I call them. I need assistance please. I have every phone call and correspondence written down for verification. I have received my final offer, and Volkswagen has admitted over the phone they made a mistake on the payoff amount, even though they are supposed to contact my lender (Santander) to verify the payoff amount.

I leased 2 vehicles from Volkswagen and then was forced to buy one as the first two sales agents let me get $9000 “upside down” in equity without telling me. The last car on the lot was a demo and the only one they said I could have. It has had electronic problems since day 1. Windshield wipers turn on by themselves. Bluetooth and radio audio are sporadic at best. It’s a lemon that was left on the lot as a demo and they saw a way to dump it on a Customer who had been screwed on their lease agreement.

On November 18, 2018, I’ve purchased a new 2018 VW Golf R. This car is equipped with an Electronic Parking Brake System (EPB) and an Auto Hold system which self engages the EPB when you torn off the engine. On January 23, 2019, I’ve parked the car on the driveway in front of my house. The EPB has self engaged as usual. The yellow indicator light on the EPB lever went on, as well as the red PARK indicator on the instrument cluster display. I’ve got out of the car but didn’t lock it since I was planning to return in two minutes. While I was walking up the stairs towards my house, my wife just left the house and was walking towards me. Suddenly she yelled: the car! I turned around and saw my brand-new VW moving forward, and crashing into the fence. As a loyal customer of VW (this is my third one!) I thought that they will take responsibility and cover the cost of the repair which is almost $1,000, but apparently, VW doesn’t care about their customers at all. After many phone calls and email correspondence with the dealership and VW of America, I was told that since they couldn’t find any evidence for a manufacture shortcoming then this is on me. I don’t know what kind of evidence exactly they were looking for, I just know for a fact that the car was on Park and then it rolled over and crashed into the fence. So now I’m stuck with a slightly damaged car which has a serious safety issue, and VW isn’t willing to take responsibility. Needless to say that this is the last time I buy this brand. For shame VW, for shame. A quick google search brought up that this isn’t the first time that VW vehicles have such a problem with the EPB. Please take a look at the following links: **. One guy even broke his ribs because of an EPB failure. Does a terrible accident with casualties must occur for VW to take responsibility and do something about this?

I like my diesel Volkswagen Jetta but the biggest problem I have with it is it shakes like crazy when stopping at lights or any other time I stop especially in the summer. Volkswagen has no answer for this and doesnt seem to care. Spent lots of money trying to fix something unfixable. Also radiator fluid sometimes leaks. No reason why. Volkswagen should have done a recall. It seems lots of people have the same problem with this car. I am not happy with the Volkswagen people. Very disappointed as German engineering is usually excellent.

Last night, my husband and I went to Ford to trade in our leased VW CC for a new car. The lease was supposed to be up in May. I was quoted a payoff amount of $15,500 by VW. The deal with Ford was made late at night when VW Credit was already closed. Ford agreed to pay off the lease, and we made the deal with the new car. The purchase with Ford was very easy and smooth.Ford called VW this morning to confirm the payoff amount, and VW added an additional $2000! Apparently, the 6 payments that were supposed to be due until the end of the lease, which was supposed to be in May, were not included in the payoff amount. How can that make sense? Payoff means final amount to completely pay off a car. So we had to pay an additional $2000 because VW Credit gave us the wrong payoff amount. Then they changed their story and said its a termination fee. $2000 termination fee? Are they serious? Never again will we ever return to VW for any future cars. They just lost 2 loyal clients due to their cheapness and carelessness!
