2023 Volkswagen Taos

The 2023 Volkswagen Taos is a subcompact SUV that offers a spacious interior, efficient powertrain, and a host of modern features. Positioned as an entry-level SUV in Volkswagen's lineup, the Taos provides a practical and stylish option for those seeking a compact crossover with everyday usability. Here are the key details about the 2023 Volkswagen Taos:

Engine and Performance: The 2023 Taos is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine that produces 158 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. It is available with either front-wheel drive (FWD) or Volkswagen's 4MOTION all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. The FWD version comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission, while the AWD version is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DSG). The Taos offers a smooth and composed ride, with responsive handling that makes it easy to maneuver in urban environments.

Fuel Economy: The Taos is known for its fuel efficiency, with the FWD model achieving an estimated 28 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway. The AWD model offers slightly lower fuel economy, with estimates of around 25 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. These figures make the Taos one of the more fuel-efficient options in the subcompact SUV segment.

Interior and Comfort: The 2023 Taos has a spacious and well-appointed interior that comfortably seats five passengers. It provides ample legroom and headroom, particularly in the rear seats, making it a practical choice for families or those who need extra space. The Taos also offers heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and dual-zone automatic climate control for added comfort.

Technology and Features: The Taos comes equipped with a standard 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, Bluetooth connectivity, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Higher trims offer an 8-inch touchscreen, a premium BeatsAudio sound system, wireless smartphone charging, and a 10.25-inch digital cockpit display. The Taos also offers multiple USB ports and available navigation to enhance convenience and connectivity.

Safety Features: The 2023 Taos includes several standard safety features, such as forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Additional available safety features include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, and a rearview camera with dynamic guidelines.

Cargo Space: The Taos provides a generous amount of cargo space for a subcompact SUV, with 27.9 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats. With the rear seats folded down, the cargo capacity expands to 65.9 cubic feet, making it one of the most spacious vehicles in its class. The flat load floor and wide rear opening make loading and unloading cargo easy.

Trims and Pricing: The 2023 Volkswagen Taos is available in three trims: S, SE, and SEL. The base S trim starts at around $24,000, offering a solid set of standard features. The mid-level SE trim adds more comfort and tech features, with pricing starting around $28,000. The top SEL trim, which includes more luxury and safety features, starts at approximately $32,000.

Exterior Design: The Taos has a bold and modern exterior design, featuring a distinctive front grille, sharp LED headlights, and available 19-inch alloy wheels. Its compact size and refined styling give it a sporty and youthful appearance, making it appealing to a wide range of buyers.

The 2023 Volkswagen Taos is a strong contender in the subcompact SUV segment, offering a blend of practicality, efficiency, and technology. It is well-suited for individuals and families looking for a versatile and stylish crossover that provides ample interior space without sacrificing fuel economy or comfort.

I have a 2014 VW Tiguan with a panoramic roof skylight, when there is a light rain the roof skylight drains work well, when it pour down rains it rains in the car. Dealer will not fix it, they say it is a faulty part and they do not cover it!! $2,700.00 WOW. Great German engineering if you like a expensive pool on wheels. I must be crazy as I own four VW vehicles. I will really need to reconsider another VW vehicle purchase.

I called for an itemization report because although I was making payments well above what I owed, it was not reflected in my account. It took three calls to get an itemization report. When I finally got the report, which reflected that my loan had already been paid, but an account balance was being shown as owed. I asked to speak to someone else, which was a manager with an IQ well below 30 and who was obviously really poorly educated. She kept asking me where I was getting my numbers, and I kept telling her from the information you just sent me. She kept telling me that her information was accurate and I owed about a grand, when really they owed me. I told her to add what she gave me, and she told me she did not have time to add 33 payments. I asked to speak to someone else who was going to be proactive and helpful. She told me there was no one else. I have to file a complaint with the BBB and call in a favor from a lawyer to get this issue resolved. These people are thieves and are genuinely cavalier to the fact that they do not know basic math.

On September 16; 2017; I purchased a Golf GTI from Jim Wynn Volkswagen. The car was only 17 miles when I drove out of the dealership. I have a work vehicle that I use on a daily basis so this car is for my personal use. On February 17, 2018, I was at a red light on Philadelphia US 1 with clutch in and in first gear, I tried to move when the light turned green but the car wont drive. The clutch was depressed. I turned the ignition off, put the gear in neutral, the hand brake up, and put on my four-way pointer. I was able to pull up the clutch with my feet. With the clutch in, I started the car and tried to shift to first gear but couldnt shift gear. I had the car towed initially to my parents house and on February 19, I eventually towed to Jim Wynn dealership. At this point, my car only has 318 Miles on it. It is practically a new vehicle and my expectation is that my warranty will cover any related issues. On 2/20/18, I was informed by the Jim Wynn dealership that they need my authorization before they can look at the car and I will be responsible for $2,600. I was in shocked because this is obviously a manufacturable defect. The service manager, Michael ** said to take it up with Volkswagen Customer Care. I called Volkswagen Customer Care to report the issue and I was told that an agent will contact me. On 02/21/2018 @ 1301, I received a call from Volkswagen Customer Care. I stated my position on the issue. I told them I shouldnt have to pay for a warranty issue on a new car with only about 300 miles on it. The agent was very disrespectful and he told me that Im welcome to take my car somewhere else if I dont like Volkswagen position on my warranty issue. I asked for another agent perhaps his supervisor and have stated that he is the only one that would be able to help me. I asked that he send me an email regarding Volkswagen position on my warranty issue, he stated that hell get to it whenever he can. As a customer, I am frustrated, speechless, and appalled by the customer service I received from both Jim Wynn Volkswagen and Volkswagen Customer Service.

I consider the official VW parts website to be a reliable source of information. After all you can enter your exact VIN to look up the parts for your specific car. The entire purpose of a VIN # is make sure you get the exact part for your vehicle. However the website it not entirely accurate. I looked up a part for my vehicle (specifically) rear rotor and it gave me the size I needed. It didnt give me an option for more than one size, so that had to be the correct one. The problem was that the part size was completely incorrect. I only noticed the error after I went to install the part of course. I called customer care to state my issue twice and they just said that the information on their website are correct and that is the size I need. So I called my local dealer and they confirmed that the website was inaccurate. I called customer care back week later and this time they acknowledge that after speaking with the dealerships that the website was in fact incorrect.I had to order the part from an independent supplier because the website was giving me false information. They said that since I did not order from them they can not be liable for the information. I tried getting some type of compensation because I just wasted $120 on incorrect parts based on the info they gave me. They said that the website has a data contract on every page that states that the information on their website can be incorrect and subject to change. Keep in mind this is a 2011 vehicle so the information is no longer changing. Basically never use the parts VW website as a source or order parts from the website because the information can be incorrect and they will do nothing about it.

Brian from Cardinal Way offered me $33K for an GTI Autobahn in black. I took a day off from work, hauled both my parents and myself and Uber to our destination. Once there it quickly turned into a circus. They dont have the car. Brian had car trouble of his own and was a no show. (He must own a VW.) Both the manager and another guy tried to get me to buy another trim which I declined. While they were tossing nonsense in the air, another dealer 10 miles away texted me for a better deal. I declined. Bridges burned. So we had to take Uber back home without the GTI. Not sure how these car dealers live with themselves but I do believe Karma is a **. Never owned a VW and Im happy to join the Boycott group.

We purchased a brand new 2010 Volkswagen Tiguan. It looks like this vehicle is only built to last till 60,000 miles. Check engine light is common thing meaning a frequent visit to the auto shop. Even we always use premium gas so engine still builds the carbon which was a very costly fix. We arent the only ones we have had issues with VW, our friends and people we know who own previously VW had the same experiences. Even my sister who owned a Audi Q5 she had the same issues once she hit the 60,000 miles mark. My advice think twice before you make the purchase for an Audi or VW vehicles. For our personal experiences we will never ever buy Audi/VW.

Hi Volkswagen! Thank you again for another infuriating, impotent service which left me stranded without a car because of the faulty information I was given. Your customer service reps have repeatedly offered services they are unable to follow through on. I’ve already guided my girlfriend and my brother away from your incompetent company and I’ll be sure to continue telling each and every person I meet to avoid Volkswagen. Remember, your product isn’t cars; it’s customer satisfaction. Good luck selling your ** brand of that to an increasingly better informed public for much longer.

VW CC owner - VW customer care is by far the worst customer service I have ever received. I have 3 recalls on my car. The horn and steering controls don’t work because of the clock spring recall. The dealer only fixes the air bar but not the rest. So after the “work” was done my horn still doesn’t work and VW somehow doesn’t see how not being able to honk a horn in traffic is a safety issue especially if someone is about to hit me. I was also told that I would get a refund for a tow I had due to the fuel pump module recall. VW doesn’t offer refunds on that unless my mileage qualifies me. So 100$ gone due to their ** ups. I am selling the car after driving it for just one week after I bought it, or course I have to fix the transmission first. I will never buy a VW again.

So far I am happy with my VW GTI lease. The lease ends in 60 days. If it werent for the underhanded tactic of removing the payoff quote just three months before the lease is due, then I would seriously consider buying this vehicle. This tactic shows me they cannot be trusted. I am now forced to call and listen to a salesperson use even more underhanded tactics to try and sell me the car for more than its worth. BTW, I had leased a Honda prior to this and they used no such tactics. I should have stayed with them. I just hope now I dont run into any issues with returning my vehicle.

I bought brand new Volkswagen 2010 from dealership in Kansas City. It was serviced regularly by the VW dealers. One evening, I came back from the work, parked the car in my driveway and next morning, the car would not start. I towed the car to the service center at the dealership and they say it needs a new motor. A 74K mile Volkswagen needs a new motor. I asked the reason and the service manager says oil level was low in the car and the car if out of the warranty now. This car was service by VW dealer in Lees Summit before 3 months of the breakdown, its Check Engine indicator never got turned on, the car does not consume oil and all of a sudden the engine failed. The service center says they serviced the car properly, dealership says its out of manufacturers warranty and I am stuck with this expense of $11000. The car does not have a single dent on its body, its trim, interior is all like a new car but the engine is bad. After spending enormous time talking to the dealership, service center, VW area manager, district manager and all, we concluded that this is the last Volkswagen in my life. And me and my entire family has become a great anti-Volkswagen advocate. Absolutely shameless managers, irresponsible service center and liar manufacturer. We advise all the readers to avoid buying any product of Volkswagen. Buy it if you want to throw away your hard earned money in drain.

I would have thought that Volkswagen would have learned from their mistakes
I would have thought that Volkswagen would have learned from their mistakes and lies that caused them humiliation and tarnished their repute and customer loyalty. I thought VW is sincere to fix this emission issue and work with impacted consumers. I suffered twice by this VW fraud, first after knowing that I had been polluting the air and destroying our environment by driving my 2012 Passat TDI, and then not been able to use the car for months as it failed SMOG test. I was hoping to get rid of it after the court settlement, but I got into an accident and car got totaled. But unfortunately, due to the diesel emission fraud the car resale value went so low and I literally got 1/3 of the original price I paid, which was not enough to even buy a decent used car.I was hoping that upon VW fraud case settlement, I should be compensated for the balance, but after such a long wait, I found out that the registration for the fraud claim I did in October/November 2015 was not sufficient and I had to submit another claim for which the deadline was September 2016!!! When I didnt hear from VW on the claim and what are the next steps for me, I was told that I was supposed to sign a different claim (not the goodwill claim, that I signed up). As I had not submitted another claim, I am not eligible for the VW settlement Claim anymore!!! This is really sad and BAD customer service. I called their customer service team, who was not able to assist me with this and Im not going to get anything for this fraud that they committed. They asked me to call their legal team to address the issue. After leaving multiple messages, I received call from Casey **, who told me the same that I missed the deadline to apply to be eligible for claim and theres nothing that can be done now. Im very disappointed and disgusted by this whole ordeal by such a reputable organization (at one point), they lied, and screwed up big time, and now cutting corners to avoid paying consumers. In this entire ordeal, I learned my lesson and for sure will never buy another car from VW, Audi or whoever theyre affiliated with. Volkswagen still cheating with consumers on emission. VW management shame on you!!!

They did not make the payment in a timely manner and my credit was severely blemished. It took almost a month for the payment to be made and unbelievably they put a stop payment on the check and my credit was hit again. They then made an electronic payment. And they have allegedly let the credit bureaus know to remove the derogatory remarks. Not one person at Volkswagen of America has apologized. Awful. Will hopefully rid myself of my current VW soon. I bought a brand new 2019 Beetle and noticed it had a bunch of things wrong right off the bat. One of the speaker lights didnt work, the manual seat sinks after a few hours, and the A/C button doesnt work properly. I am 3.5 hours away from a Volkswagen dealership so it takes me 7 hours round trip to service it. I have to do 2 seven hour trips per service because they never fix it in one day. So far I have had to make that round trip 4 times and they still have not fixed the issues other than the speaker light. I dont have time or patience anymore to take many days off for nothing. The product is poorly put together and the service is HORRIBLE, at least at South Motors in Miami, FL.

Gross incompetence at the least, already filed a complaint via NHTSA, may do so with state attorney general. I purchased my brand new VW TDI in May of 2015. The TDI scandal was announced only a few months after my purchase. The following Nov I received a letter about the Goodwill package Volkswagen was offering as long as you register your vehicle... Information they clearly had!!! I immediately went to the site to register my VIN. Their site continued to freeze after the input of the VIN #. I continued to try several times a month with no luck. In Jan 2016 I emailed VW with my concerns AND my vehicle information. It took over a month for them to get back to me and inform me that there was a high volume on their site and to keep trying or try another browser. REALLY? I kept trying every month several times different computers, iPads and phones... no luck. I finally got through on June 30, 2016. The response I got was Congratulations! Your vehicle qualifies for the Goodwill Package. Unfortunately, this registration is closed. I called VW customer care, and after being on hold for over 30 minutes, the agent informed me that there was nothing he or VW could do because I had ample time to register my vehicle. I was told I should have called their customer care department at an earlier date (they are only open from 9am to 5pm Monday-Friday) and they could have walked me through registering my vehicle. I work during those hours and dont have time to sit on hold for 30 minutes!! I know how to use a computer!! They are still offering the package, just not on MY vehicle!!!I was not allowed to speak to a supervisor and was told that VW was very firm on not extending the program past the cut-off date. I want to know how many others had this problem? Was this just a ploy to lure us into not bad mouthing a company who purposely defrauded their customers? Are they still pulling scams on us? Should I file a suit for this $1000 package?

I bought my Volkswagen eight years ago and have put about 100k miles on it. I admit that I love driving the car, but I am very dissatisfied with Volkswagens customer service. I recently brought my VW in to my local dealer for routine service and maintenance. I understand that VWs are expensive to service and fix, and I understand that my car is getting old. However, the dealer I brought my VW to ended up breaking a bolt while changing my brakes, thus requiring a bunch of parts to be replaced, and they want ME to pay $1200 to fix it!Ive been arguing with the dealer for days to no avail. I got in touch with Volkswagen customer care in hopes that they would help me. They do call themselves Advocates, but they are no help at all! The case manager, Jennifer, I spoke with basically said that Corporate VW cant do a thing to help me because each dealer is independently owned and operated. What they should have done is agree to reimburse me these costs if they couldnt get the dealer to fix my car for nothing, as they should! What good are these people if they cant do anything to help?? This whole situation has been ridiculous. I am never buying a VW again and dealing with this nonsense.

I had a really bad experience with my Tiguan bought few months ago from a first-hand. My car is 5 years old and only 50000 km. The car was working fine until it completely stopped in the middle of a busy street. Had to tow it via my insurance and I decided to bring it in the VW garage where the car has always been serviced (having all the previous bills). I informed the garage that my car was getting towed and if they could organize a replacement car. The answer was NO straight away. When I looked at all the car bills a replacement car had always been organized but not for me. I then asked them when will they be able to take care of the car and tell me what is the problem. The reply was, “We are extremely busy. We will have a look probably next week.” After checking their online appointment availability it was clearly showing full availability all over the week but they finally started to look at my car one week later! The diagnostic price being $220 which is just absurd when you know that I will have it fix there. Finally the fuel pump was faulty and had to be replaced for $1500 which I succeed to reduce to $1400. I contacted my previous VW dealership overseas that confirm the fact that this part shouldn’t be faulty at 50000 km and VW should cover the cost. I then decided to open a case with VW Australia. I finally took back my car after 10 days and paid the full price thinking that VW will contact me and listen to me. After explaining to the dealership that I opened a case with VW he became extremely upset and unhappy about my decision. I told him that I didn’t blame him but the car and asked him, “If you were me, would you expect this?“ The answer was, “Then if it was me I would just pay and move on!” I clearly understand then that this dealership doesn’t understand the meaning of customer service or empathy. Then I received the answer from my case which was “From time to time Volkswagen Australia will support our dealers in relation to servicing and repairs. I am convinced that there is a big lack of consideration from VW Australia and especially from this dealership.

Have a 2009 VW CC VR6, in 2011 had to replace the steering rack and now in 2014 needs another one? This is very uncommon and not normal. VW should pay for the repair. There are comments all over the Web on similar issues. How could this be the consumers fault?

I bought a 2008 Volkswagen GTI less than 30 days ago. I noticed on the 2nd day the A/C and the 3rd gear was grinding. I notified the dealership. They said to bring the car in. On the 11th day of owning the vehicle, the car broke down. I notified the dealership that the car was not able to move and that it will need to be towed. They told me they would not pay for the tow and that if it had anything to do for the clutch, they wouldnt pay for that also. So I called my Roadside Assistance and towed the car to the nearest repair shop. They said there that the problem is in the transmission. The dealership still refuses to pay for the tow to their shop. I was also told by the service clerk that she spoke to the owner and he said that they would tow if it had to do with transmission or engine. But they have not done so. I have called and talked to the bank, and they have contacted the dealer. But still, nothing has happened. I call everyday, trying to talk to the owner or manager. And no phone calls have been returned. Theyre not honoring the warranty.

I bought a VW Tiguan in Dec. 2019, top of the line with bells and whistles. About 14,000 Km after, when I took it for the 15k km service, I asked them to have a look at the brakes as theyve started to make some noise. They said the brakes overheat, the metal is blue (sign of overheating) and they theyll need to be replaced. $1,500 invoice. They said the warranty doesnt want to cover it as it is a consumable. I know that the warranty doesnt cover consumables (oil, filters, brake pads etc), but this is the first car I have to change the brakes under 60,000 - 80,000 Km. I love my cars and I look after them, but I see this as a factory defect, not a user error.I would like to clarify something: Ive owned and drove multiple cars along the years. Im a car guy, I love cars. I bought the Tiguan for my wife, but I drove it 90% of the time due to some circumstances. I had multiple German cars, Japanese and American cars over the years. Just so you know, Im not looking for any freebies, discounts or anything like that. Just want the manufacturer and representatives to stand behind their claims and contracts. The dealer cant change them on warranty, theyve submitted pictures and technical reports to VW Canada but theyve rejected any warranty claims. Ive called them directly to talk about the situation, theyve opened another case and VW Canada said theyll get back to me in 48 hours. Few days later I called them again as I didnt hear anything from them. They said another 48 hours...This becomes a joke, they throw the blame from one to the other and together to the put it in the owners lap to pay it. The warranty is a shame, they make the best to get out of replacing faulty parts or repair them stating its user fault. I start to have doubts about the parts reliability and warranty, at least not in North America. Unless you have a blown engine in less than 1,000 Km, they wont cover anything, and even then, they might say youve done something wrong to it or looked in the mirror the wrong way.

ANYONE EVEN HEARD ABOUT ENGINE OIL MIXED WITH COOLANT IN ANY OF THE VEHICLES WITHIN 50000 KM. But happened in the great Volkswagen - Vento. I had suffered a lot in the night time during my drive due to that. Even I paid to change the parts again I have faced the same problem. Now my vehicle is in their service station and said me to take the vehicle since the fault is rectified in which I asked the assurance letter that if the same fault happens in future, you have to take back the car and return back my purchased invoice value because I have twice faced and affected very lot in the night time travel. If they give the assurance I can take and drive without fear. But they denied to give. That means they have doubts, so that hesitate to give. In this situation how I get my vehicle AND drive without fear as affected twice. If I take my car without assurance I can put it my showcase rather than drive. Purchased as certified preowned in 2015, after the first year of ownership
Purchased as certified preowned in 2015, after the first year of ownership multiple, MAJOR repairs have been completed. The ignition lock broke and would not allow me to turn my vehicle on or off at random times. The headlights had to be replaced three times in one year. For some reason the dealer could not explain, yet miraculously fixed. At the end of 2018 North Park Volkswagen had my vehicle for a month to diagnose problems they could not find the first time around. Turned out to be the timing chain and tension pulley (which never failed on a different car I owned that was 20 yrs old). Coincidentally, the battery died at the same time and I was made to pay for it. Add that the fuel pump failed (again, at the same time) and when they returned my car to me, was leaking gasoline in puddles. Just about the only thing left to fail is the transmission! Thank goodness for the extended warranty! I was very disappointed with the quality of the car, overall, and with the lack of concern and poor service. The dealer and service department used to impress me, but the more problems the car THEY sold me had, the less responsibility they took and poorer their customer service became. Even VW of Americas corporate office failed to follow up with me until almost a month later.

I bought a brand new 2015 VW Tiguan 8 months ago. Earlier this week, while I was driving on the freeway, my panoramic sunroof exploded and shattered glass rained down on me. I took it to the dealership knowing the car is still under warranty to get the part replaced... Thank goodness (aside from a few scrapes) I was not badly hurt. After obtaining a rental car (they wouldnt give me a loaner) and 24 hours later, they called to tell me they would not be covering this under warranty. Nothing had fallen through the roof and the glass bowed up, indicating it exploded from the inside... Clearly a defective part. The manager of the dealership called me to bear the bad news and simply brushed me off. He asked if I wanted to pay the out of pocket cost for the part and when I shared my belief that this should absolutely be covered, he said we will cancel the order of the part and you can come get your car anytime. FAR less than helpful. This experience makes me never want to drive a VW again... What is the point of a warranty if it doesnt cover defective parts?! I would NEVER recommend Volkswagen of Santa Barbara.

Thanks. Soon after (month later), my fuel pump and fuel pump module went out. I called and they said, No warranty. I went and purchased, 650 dollars with installation at brother in laws shop. Cheaper than dealer by $500. Then at 112000 miles my transmission went out. No warranty of course. That was 5k to replace and install. This was in March 2016. In April my fuel injector was misfiring. Replaced all injectors. Then in March 2017 my throttle body went out. No help all this time from VW group of America. Worthless to be honest. Now in October 2017 my fan went unbalanced. No more VW for me EVER!!!

I had a 2009 VW Rabbit under warranty with the same exact issue. The door curled up like a piece of paper. My issue is the same as yours. VW, nor the dealership, ever bothered to inform me of the issue of ice getting trapped in the door, and causing the door to curl up like a piece of paper in the same way yours did. Because they never bothered to inform me, I assumed someone hit my door, and ended up paying to have this fixed at an independent shop, for something they should have taken care of under warranty. The dealership (Flynn Volkswagen) couldnt be bothered to install the foam fix inside the door before the car was sold new in 2011 two years later before it even left the lot, which would have prevented the problem from occurring in the first place.

I hit a small deer one month ago (drivers side light, hood, quarter panel). The insurance paid for the body work, but not for a spastic, drivers side door. The car (VW 2002 Golf TDI) thinks the door is open all the time and alerts me. When I turn on the lights at night, the alert screams at me. The dealership, which Allstate Insurance made me tow the car to, says this happens to the door all the time even if you hit a pothole and jar the car. The dealership is a 3-hr round trip from where I live and there is a certified VW mechanic in the next town from me, but Allstate wouldnt let me take it there. I told the adjuster and dealership that nothing was wrong before the accident, but they say it is something that happens on VWs a lot. Why isnt there a recall on this if it is so prevalent. And if hitting a pothole could cause this problem, why wouldnt an accident do so also? I will never buy another VW. I have put a lot of money into this car (VW maintenance costs a lot!). Its a 2002 model, but I had a Honda that I drove for 20 years before any major money had to put into it. This has been a nightmare not having a car for a month and living in a rural area.

On Monday, April 16, 2018, I had the unfortunate mishap of my car stalling out while I was on my way to lunch. We had to have the car towed to a mechanic where it was determined that my 2012 VW CC with roughly 86,000 miles suffered from what is being called a ‘Catastrophic Engine Failure’. I was told by the mechanic this was not our fault and the car shows no signs of neglect. My mechanic has given me a quote to replace the engine, with a used engine that has approximately 70,000 miles on it, at a cost of $9,849.57. If I was to replace the engine who’s to say that this problem wouldn’t happen again. After hearing this news I started to do some research. I have come across several articles and claims that there are issues with the Timing Chain Tensioner on various vehicles; which, include the year, make, and model of mine. It seems Volkswagen is aware of this issue but refuses to do anything about it. I have contacted Volkswagen twice already and have not gotten any help.I now have a car that I am still paying for (car note and insurance) that I cannot drive. I really hope that Volkswagen will take this issue seriously as this could have happened to me the day before as I was traveling home on a busy highway from out of town. I have always like the Volkswagen name and their vehicles but the way things are being handled by them I am beyond frustrated!

Beware of the scam Half off the oil change. It looks like they might be putting half the oil!!! From day one always service my vehicle with Volkswagen. No one besides Volkswagen dealerships shop serviced my vehicle. A few days ago the car stopped on the freeway while driving. Lucky no one was hurt. When insurance inspector got back to me they stated that the cause of the accident was Engine fail due to zero oil in Engine. The engine had turned black inside and there was no sign of an oil change done for months. Which is not true. Also no sign of any leakage. None of the service light ever came on indicating that there was something wrong with the vehicle! The vehicle even states that Im not due for an oil change yet! When I called VW they gave me the runaround basically telling me that even though the car is not due for an oil change for another 2000 mile or months their hands are tied. Because The vehicle has too many mileage (94000) and to old (2011). But they would be happy to forward my complaint to the dealer that did my oil change. They didnt even offer to have my car inspected by one of their shop. Thought I was saving when I got that offer in the mail half off my oil change. Which now is going to cost me a new engine!

My 2006 VW Passat died on me at 87,000 miles about a week ago. After receiving the countless letters about the parts of my car that theyd be happy to service over the years because, oops! They realized theyre faulty, my car left me stranded about a week ago. The service people stated itd be 4-5 thousand dollars to repair. According to Kelly Blue Book thats about how much the car was worth 2 weeks ago when it ran. Every time I took this car in to be serviced, the VW technicians would present me with a list of the issues with the car, ranked in order of severity. Whereas most car techs are trying to swindle the customer out of money (historically), I actually believe the VW technicians were being honest: my VW ACTUALLY was riddled with problems that were no fault of my own, simply because these cars suck! The technician informed me that one matter in need of attention was the crack somewhere in the structural frame of the front of my car that could get progressively worse OR may just continue to exist but never cause a problem. How does a car that hasnt ever been in an accident suddenly crack? I never realized the internal frame of my VW was made of eggshell...My advice? Steer clear of VWs. Even my friends CC tells him Service Now! every time he starts his car, and it has less than 10,000 miles on it. Youll know quickly youve made a mistake when you received the letter about the engine coils that are bound to malfunction or whatever other part of your recently purchased vehicle will screw you over next... On a separate note... Anyone wanna buy a project? If you like restoring dead cars, the VW dealership in Cary said theyd give me $150 for it... top that and its sold! :)

I have had a rattle since June in my 2018 Atlas. It has been in 5 times for this problem. Now they say I need a new seat frame and they have no clue when it will be in. It could take a month or 5 months. You cannot even listen to the radio because the noise is so loud. I have taken with customer care service and they are useless. They refuse to replace the seat from another VW Atlas that is on the lot. I am sure they can do a temp repair of putting foam in the seat frame but they wont even do that. I would strongly recommend not buying a VW product due to their very poor customer service and the futility of getting repair parts.

At the end of the Hybrid Supplement, it notes that if the gas tank does not
At the end of the Hybrid Supplement, it notes that if the gas tank does not accept fuel please advise to bring it to an authorized dealership. I brought in the car the first time: Never resolved the issue. Second time the issue was never resolved again. During the second time they recommend that I have to fix the fuel door actuator and that would cause a check engine light. I replaced the fuel door actuator and that never resolved any issue. During this transition the car had a vac pump issue and the e-motor system fails. I complain that my car still doesnt accept gas and other issues had arisen, and reading their warranties it says non-warrantied parts that are damaged due to the warrantied parts will be replaced free of charge. I brought in the car for the third time. They denied any warranties that will cover the fuel door as well as the vacuum pump.I argued for quite sometime because one of the service member called me saying it would be the engine control module. They went back and forth to figure out what was the issue and most likely didnt want to express the real issue on this car because the ECM is in fact on the parts list. They fixed the fuel door actuator and it was a circuit issue. There is a very extensive list for PZEV warrantied parts which also includes a vacuum amplifier 2567. I called numerous dealerships and all the service technicians do not know anything about a vacuum amplifier, VW Care says that the dealerships are their best technical advisers and we do not know what a vacuum amplifier is. I would expect that a vacuum amplifier is a vacuum pump synonymously. 2567 service code is for the engine, the vacuum pump questioned is mounted behind the engine from what a service technician told me.Also in their warranty booklet it notes that if the dealership denies a claim, that it would send a written explanation why they would deny the claims within 30 days. If they fail to send a written response then, by law they would warrant those claims. So the supervisor Mary ** denies the claim over the phone after Volkswagen DTLA wont let me keep the car there until the claim is resolved. She never written a response letter or any explanation what a vacuum amplifier 2567 is as well as reason why the vacuum pump doesnt have anything to do with the emissions. I asked numerous technicians if the vacuum pump is related to emissions and was told numerous times that in fact it is. I wanted to escalate my claim and asked again to please re-look into my case.Bill, a regional VW Customer care agent tells me lets bring it to another dealership and look at the issues and lets get everything resolved so we can get a fresh non-biased report. I do bring it into another dealership and that dealership mistakenly calls me and asked to speak with DTLA Volkswagen. The new dealership says its just a gas cap. Also the fuel door actuator fails again.VW Care deny claims once again and of course VW Care rudely uses scare tactics and employees like Bill ** and Preston are very good at intimidating me rather than listen to the case carefully as they insist that they will now write a written response for the denial of my claim more than 60 days past the original claim for the vacuum pump and fuel door actuator. I am very curious what else will lead to these numerous PZEV issues. I would highly stay away from Volkswagen, if they lied and cheated under their diesel engines; most likely there are issues with their emissions as well.

I have a 2011 Jetta Sportwagen, which for the most part has performed well. However recently Ive had a problem with my rear seat-belts seizing up and no longer working. I took them to the dealer and was charged $120 for them to look at it, tell me it would need replacement and I would have to pay $1200 because my car was no longer under warranty. I informed them I purchased the Platinum extended warranty and they said it was not covered. I contacted VW of America. After about a week I finally received a phone call and was told by a Jenny ** that she would see what she could do. A few days later she called back and said I was out of warranty, but they would supply the parts free of charge, but I would have to pay for installation. I told them I appreciated the gesture, but felt that a 3 year old vehicle should not have this issue. I wanted them to stand behind their product and replace the seat belts. I asked to speak to a supervisor and got the runaround, until she finally agreed to talk to her supervisor. Instead of a supervisor coming on the line after I sat waiting to dead air for 5 minutes or so, Jenny came back on and said SHE spoke to the supervisor and the supervisor agreed with her position. I told her I wanted to speak to the supervisor and I wanted the name of the person she spoke to. She kept trying to avoid the issue and then finally said she spoke to Sharonda. I asked to speak to her and was told she could only put my request in the system and someone else would contact me by Monday.

I feel we were treated unfairly by the VW Claims process. Our dealer was Moffitt Volkswagen in Bossier City, Louisiana, they were super. I dont think the 72000 (we bought the owners car with around 5400 miles on it) on our 2014 Passat TDI vehicle was in excess, after all we purchased it to drive not sit in the driveway. The 66000 plus miles we put on should have been a testament to the reliability of the vehicle. Diesel engines are made to roll not sit. I think we should have been awarded the amount $1115.56 instead of $651.00. We will NEVER EVER purchase another Volkswagen because of the shoddy way we were treated. VW Claims Service should have contacted us when submitted our claim. Instead it stayed on someones desk collecting dust when a simple email would have taken care of the missing paperwork. Why VW Corp is surprised to see US sales going down? It is the bad quality that eroded the trust and market share. I have bought a VW CC 2014 R line in September 2013 and it had issues after issues from Wastegate rattle, clock springs, sway bar etc. Even after taking it 5 times and 4 clock springs later, the car makes loud rattling noise on regular Highways in Texas. I just cant imagine a 35K USD car could make such rattling noise from the steering column area. The VW Tech came out with an excuse normal characteristics where as cheaper Jetta & Passat do not make that sound on the same road surfaces. How could you fix quality control issue when this pervasive nature exists from the front line VW technicians? How could they flag issues to rectify parts design flaws if they play this game? VW CEO can dream on to be one but he cant rattle his way up to number 1!

After purchasing a brand new 2019 Atlas, it has been nothing but a nightmare. From cylinders not firing, bad spark plugs, blaming us for putting bad gas in... Now on 3 visits, then a faulty battery which a corporate mechanic had to find. It has been nothing but a disaster! To top it all off, we want to get rid of this LEMON and that has become an even harder process. Not only does this car violate CA law for having multiple issues on a specific part of the car, my 3-year-old has been in the car with me on two separate occasions when it has decided to randomly shut off. VW corporate was not phased by this at all. When purchasing this vehicle, my husband and I turned in a perfectly good, special edition BMW and received this piece of crap! Instead of actually taking care of my family, VW corporate insists that they will only pay us for the difference of the BMW and car payments. Myself, my husband, and my sons life was in jeopardy while driving this car, but clearly empathizing with hard-working decent people is not in this business interest. My family has purchased from VW for over a decade, but that will not happen again. Not only are they not taking care of our needs while trying to split ties with their company, they sent a completely incompetent email to us with false options and that demand we send items to send to them? I am in the business sector and business is not conducted in such a fashion as this.I also want to point out that because the email was so poorly composed, I could press legal matters around the areas addressed. This is a very stern warning that if you are looking to purchase a family vehicle this is a horrific option. I am extremely disappointed with this company and cannot believe they claim to service everyone and will not accommodate those who have been experiencing issue after issue, two being highly dangerous, and do not know the meaning of taking care of loyal customers. Such a shame!!

Recently, I bought a used 2008 VW Rabbit from a private party. 2013-14 was my first winter with the Rabbit. Until my ownership the Rabbit had been garage kept. Turns out there is a VW design flaw. VW acknowledges how to repair the issue, however does not acknowledge there is a problem. Therefore, offers no recourse to accommodate VW Rabbit owners. How is this possible? How is this denial helpful? Snow and ice build up in the door jambs, over long winter months. The simple action of opening a door is meet with resistance when snow and ice accumulate due to poor drainage. The lower front corners of the doors bend out. In addition, the paint cracks and peels. Thus, rendering a well maintained VW Rabbit blemished and susceptible to rust.As the dealership nearest to my home, I had every intention of having the vehicle serviced at New Motors Volkswagen. So, I brought The VW Rabbit in for advice. I found them all too willing to shrug off the issues I am having by averting the lack of accountability and blame off on corporate, with the customary response, This is out of our hands. Indeed, it is a corporate matter - all the same it is a product they sell, they service and subsequently endorse. It would have gone a long way with me and my overall perception of Volkswagen had they shown genuine concern and support. Local dealerships are the corporate cornerstone in each community. The lack of aid, comfort and cooperation exhibited by this Volkswagen dealership is indicative of the exact type of behavior we can expect from Volkswagen Corporate themselves. Ultimately, the dealership apple doesnt fall far from the corporate tree. Clearly, Volkswagen has no consideration for the consumers of their products - why wouldnt their dealerships embrace the same cold policies?Understanding I am not the original owner, understanding the so-called warranty has expired and understanding the vehicle has been introduced to weather conditions and storage conditions it has not faced in its previous years, should I, the consumer who entrusted my savings, my earnings and my faith in the Volkswagen product, be left out in the cold? It appears that is exactly what Volkswagen Corporate and its fledgling dealerships are doing. Taking advantage of hardworking people such as myself, who are too small to contest the mighty corporate injustices of Volkswagen. Volkswagen is treating myself and every one of its consumers as simple-minded prey by selling inferior products without certitude and without aegis. Volkswagen will NOT take responsibility or offer any assistance.Unlike Volkswagen, I can admit when I have made a mistake. By purchasing my 2008 Volkswagen Rabbit, I have certainly displayed an egregious lapse in judgement. Without a doubt, Volkswagen is not a company driven by consumer satisfaction, or superior products, but rather a company driven by bottom line profit margins. Thank you Volkswagen for correcting me.

VW is refusing to replace the tires. Its ludicrous that they are unwilling to stand behind the products that they are installing. It has been the worst customer experience that Ive experienced in a long time, especially after spending $35,000+ on the car. Would never recommend any Volkswagen product.

Received the car with minor scratches on the steering wheel and didnt make a fuss about it. 6 months later the scratches expanded and steering wheel is peeling all around. I took it to a VW authorized dealership and they claim it looks like it was scratched so it wont be covered under warranty. I wont be buying/leasing another VW and will warn my friends, co-workers and family not to get one. I have an older Jeep Cherokee with same type of steering wheel that still looks new. It seems VW are using inferior material to make their steering wheel wrap.

After three years and 54,000 miles, the automatic DSG transmission failed on my 2009 VW GTI. Over the past three years, I complained to the service department (North Penn Imports) about the problems I was having. Each time, they stated that it was operating normally. I have each case documented. Now that the transmission has failed completely (does not go into gear or shift), the dealer and Volkswagen have denied my warranty due to the fact that I have some aftermarket parts on my car and that these parts caused the failure. They have offered no explanation of how they caused the failure. As of now, they are replacing the transmission at my cost of over $3000.

My car computer said the Convertible Top needed to be serviced. I hadnt used the top for about 6 months prior to the light coming on. I took it in to the local dealership and was told that one of the latches that hold the hard top on was not working well. They ordered the part and finally got them in 4 weeks later. They replaced the latches then called and told me that it still was not working and that there was a bent left hinge to the roof that was the problem. VW would only be able to fix this problem by replacing the entire roof for $9500. I created a case with VW USA and when they said that my car was 9000 miles out of the manufacturers warranty, but the car was still only 2.5 years old, and there was nothing they could do for me, I escalated an email to the CEO of VW USA. A department Assistant called me back, said they would send their field service manager for the region out to look at the car and get back to me. They would not give me any names of anyone that was looking at my car besides the dealership mechanics. They called back and would not help me with fixing the car. Essentially I was leasing a $20,000 car that had $10,000 of damage that I didnt cause and VW said, Oh well, cant help you. This was 4 months ago. Ive talked to several current and former VW mechanics and they all said that VW is the only shop that can fix the car. They did however share with me a tech-tip that shows a manufacturers issue with a grommet in the left side of the convertible top that can pop loose, causing the exact damage that Im experiencing with my convertible top. That was posted in April of 2013, and the dealership did not mention this or to my knowledge investigate it. I loved this car. Ive barely driven it over the last 8 months. Im so disappointed in VW for not only NOT rectifying such a strange mechanical problem, but expecting anyone to fix a car for the ridiculous amount of $10,000. The dealership was great and very helpful but I cant help but wonder if the hinge wasnt damaged by the dealership after the fact. The top still doesnt work and I have no resolution. BAD REPUTATION for VW. Every mechanic I spoke with said that VW are the toughest and most expensive cars to work on and they recommend to everyone not to be them. This is my first negative rating of anything, ever! I am so angry and truly disappointed that VW has chosen to not deal with this. Not that VW cares but I will never buy another VW and I will advise anyone I know to stay away from them as well.

Bought my VW CC in 2011. Everything was fine up until 2016. Started having issues with it. Just got it back 3 weeks ago. Had to have the timing chain fixed. That bill was $3200. Had to take it back 2xs after that to have the intake runner fixed along with the rear main seal because of oil leaking. Those two jobs cost me an additional $1000. Fast forward to today. Started having issues with the car not going into gear. Went back to the shop. Theres a problem with the driveshaft. Cost to fix... $3200-$5000. This is so unfair. Now I am either forced to fix it or purchase another car. Either way Im spending more money I truly dont have.

I bought a used VW Toureg 3 1/2 years ago after I was told that they were the most reliable & safe SUV I could get for my family. I purchased the vehicle with 40,000 miles and knew I may have some repair bills down the line, but was reassured by the salesman that it would last until 250,000 easy with regular maintenance. Since that time, I have spent over $7000 in repairs which has included both headlights (at over $200 apiece), brakes, tires, valves, crank case ventilation, windshield wipers, expensive oil changes, etc. I cannot even remember all of the repairs I have had to do, but if I had only applied that $7000 to the purchase of the vehicle I could have gotten a new Ford with a warranty. First of all, the only place that can do the repairs is a VW dealership which adds about $75 to every service. Also, I have not taken it once where it hasnt been at least a $500 bill. We have had a Ford F-150 Truck for 15 years and have not had $500 in service in total! After taking my complaint to the service department at Northtowne VW, his response was, Yes, maam. I am now stuck with a vehicle I cant afford to trade in (I still owe) and cant afford not to fix. I hope you dont make the same mistake!

I’ve never bought a brand new car and wasn’t able to get a loaner vehicle when there’s a warranty issue. I’ve never had this experience with BMW or Mercedes or any other new car that I’ve owned in my entire life. If the car breaks be prepared to not have a car, for however long it takes him to fix it. Worst warranty program ever. I will never buy another VW EVER AGAIN. I’m receiving safety recall notices in the mail but can’t get them fixed. The dealerships will only drive you 10 miles from the dealer and I live more than 10 miles away from a dealer. This is the worst experience I’ve ever had with the new car.

Now they are making excuses like their machine was down for a month and now their worker is gone for a month... I am now trying to call VW of America to report this and cant get a hold of anyone. When I purchased my 2012 VW Passat I was told by the salesperson at Taylor Volkswagen that it came with All Season radials, good for all weather conditions. After having a horrible time driving in the city through two winters I decided to check the specs on the Hankook tires that came with the car. Here they are only good for driving in a small amount of snow, not in heavier snow or cold climates like in Saskatchewan. I approached the dealer to have them explain why they would have a car shipped to Canada with tires that are not suitable for our climate. No response. I also wanted replacement or compensation for this gross error in judgment of tire selection. I was told, even by the sales manager, that the company policy is that there is no compensation or replacement on matters such as this. I feel that the dealership and VW are negligent in advising and selling cars with tires that are not suitable for our climatic conditions.

Purchased the 2019 Passat R-Line edition on 3/2/19 and really like the styling, but that is where it ends. Three days after purchasing the vehicle, the remote start stopped working. There is a software flaw where the remote timer doesnt reset after starting the car, so once youve reached an overall total of twenty minutes the remote start never works again, as it is awaiting on an “input signal” that the car has been started non-remotely. AutoNation said it is Volkswagens problem and VW Customer Care said they know about the problem but they do not have a fix for it and that its basically my problem because it does not meet the guidelines for lemon law or VW’s policy to take the vehicle back. They said they are not pulling these vehicles from the lots because it is not a safety or mechanical issue but the dealerships are not disclosing this information either. VW Customer Care offered me $100 gift card and said they do not know when a fix will be released. Buy something else, and steer clear of VW. What good is a 7 year warranty, if they are selling cars that cant be fixed?

I had already fixed the front drivers side and was quoted around $1100 to fix the back window (which I could not afford), now the passenger window went out. On 7/1/15 they replied back that there was nothing they could do because my vehicle was outside the original 3-yr/36,000 mile warranty but they thanked me for contacting them. As we were traveling down the road one day, our Volkswagen TDI started to make this awful noise and started to sound like it was going to cut out on us. We were about 16 miles out of town and turned back and went home. We had to drive slow, as the car kept making this awful sound and acted like it was going to quit running. When we got home, my husband pulled it into the garage and started to look things over. He took the panel that was on the underside of the car off and found all kinds of metal shavings and oil. It looked horrible. We called Broadway and explained what happened and then had the car towed to their garage (35 miles one way). After they looked at it, it was discovered that there was a 2-piece flywheel that flew apart. What is a 2-piece flywheel doing in a diesel car? It is my understanding that because of the torque that is produced by a diesel engine, it should have been a 1-piece flywheel. As the result of the flywheel coming apart, the pieces of metal shot through and into the transmission wall and wrecked the transmission. Broadway contacted Volkswagen and explained what happened. They agreed to replace the flywheel, but would not cover any of the transmission because the car was out of warranty. We had 85,000 miles on the car and warranty was up at 60,000 miles. There were 2 other cars that were brought into this dealer for the same issue and Volkswagen wouldnt touch one of them because that car had 112,000 miles on it. The other vehicle had the extended warranty so therefore that car was fixed. This was a problem in another country (I cant remember which one it was) and Volkswagen recalled these cars. The car did get fixed with a 1-piece flywheel and $5,400. This cost did not include the cost of the flywheel, which would have been an additional $750 had Volkswagen not covered that cost.I will not own another Volkswagen vehicle (this vehicle was our second TDI). Had Volkswagen paid for at least, if not all, of the cost of the transmission replacement, it would have made them a better looking company. What they did was wrong and the consumer paid for it.

Almost immediately the car started breaking down. We have almost completely rebuilt the car by replacing the battery several times, the computer system, fuel injection system, transmission and now tire sensors. The car was not only prone to breaking down but was extremely dangerous as it would turn off or stall on the freeway at high speeds. Despite numerous attempts to get assistance from both the dealer and corporate I was turned away. I will never buy another VW product again or purchase from Michaels. I leased a new Jetta on November 25th, 2014, from strong VW in Salt Lake City Utah, but the very next day realized I would not be able to financially afford it. I made a big mistake. SO I went back to take the car back the next day on the 26th (I know there would be some fees to pay). The gm basically told me that leasing from them is buying the car, and there is nothing he can do and I have to learn the hard way and take the car. He also stated that the money has already been issued out and they were already paid. Also that taking the car back would be like me working for a day and then telling me that I would not be paid. He kept stating that it wasnt like Walmart, and when I asked him about the early termination statement in the lease he asked for it, and said that he doesnt have one because everything is on the computer and so they dont have a copy of it. BS! Everyone I have shown the contract said that I should be able to return it. The GMs tone of voice was very degrading, I felt very bullied. Also my sister-in-law was there with me and can testify to this. Please help!

I thought I loved VW. Heck, I use to live in a town just outside of Wolfburg, GE. (Erkerode) It was a happy day when I purchased my 1st VW Jetta TDI. Drove like a champ and great on gas. Main reason I got it was because my daily commute was 2hrs 15min 1 way (all highway). Everything was good. Getting oil changes and services IAW VW. Then the emissions scandal happened. And I wont drone on about that. But, shortly thereafter I had a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) problem. No worries, I thought, Im still covered by Warranty, just barely. Bring her in to my local Dealership, they take a look and say that they need to do a manual regeneration. Next day, I pick her up, warning lights are off, and everything is good to go.The following day, I make my trek to and from work. And wouldnt you know it, the DPF light is back on. I call up the Dealership and drop her back off at the next available appointment. The kind folks at the Dealership even put me up in a Courtesy Vehicle. The next day I pick my car up after they explained to me that they had to do a deeper cleaning. Hey, no worries, this is all covered by Warranty. I happily drive home thinking that this issue has been resolved. Weekend goes by, Monday is here and I make my way to and from work. I get home and lo and behold, the DPF light is back on. Now Im getting frustrated and its apparent that something else must be wrong. I call the Dealership and they tell me that the only other thing they can do is replace the DPF altogether. It doesnt seem right, but they are the experts and it is under Warranty, so I drop her off. I get my car back, drive back and forth to work a few times, problem solved...Or so I thought. 20,000 miles later, I get a new set of lights on my instrument panel. This time its a flashing Glow Plug light, the Check Engine light, and a text display of a flashing wrench followed by the words Inspect. Wow, thats A LOT of stuff. But hey, at least its not the DPF light. I take a glance at my Owners Manual (OM) to see what these things mean. According to the OM, both the flashing Glow Plug light and Check Engine light means Engine Control Malfunction, and the flashing wrench had to do with the Transmission. GREAT... I just put a new transmission in my other car, but thats neither here nor there. I call up the Dealership and schedule an appointment. They have it for a day and then the Technician gives me a call to inform me that the codes came up for the DPF. So what they needed to do was run a regen and it would cost 300 something dollars. At this point, Im out of Warranty. If money is coming out of my pocket, Im going to make my questions and concerns known. I proceed to ask the Technician that if its a DPF problem, why is it that the DPF light didnt come on AND how is this possible, VW JUST replaced the DPF. Needless to say, he did not have an answer for either of those questions and said that hed give me a call back in 10 minutes or so. About 10 min go by and I get a call from a Service Rep that is familiar with my car and the whole DPF dilemma. She proceeds to tell me that they are going to investigate the matter and contact the main VW Tech something or another. The following morning, she gives me a call to tell me that VW Tech said it is a Failed Temp Sensor and that it will cost $2,625.14 to get it fixed and that I should call VW Customer Care about this to see if they can help the situation.ROFLMAO, they must have lost their minds. You mean to tell me that had I not questioned their original findings, I would have dropped $300 only to have the same issue keep popping up. So I did a little research. Apparently, when the Glow Plug light and Check Engine light pops up, it does that because the DPF is at 75% loading or is saturated with 40 grams of soot because the regen process isnt kicking in. And you dont have to be a genius to come to the assumption/conclusion that if the regen process (which cleans the filter), isnt activating because the Temp Sensor is bad, that driving approximately 20,000 miles without a proper regeneration occurring could lead to a DPF with 75% loading.Meaning, the Temp Sensor was most likely faulty the 1st time I was having the recurring DPF problems, only money wasnt coming out of my pocket at the time so I didnt question it, therefore the Dealership Technicians didnt further investigate it and come to the realization that that was the underlying issue. Quite convenient for VW. So, I take the Service Reps advice and call the VW Customer Care number that same day (today). The representative on the line was polite, and after a lengthy discussion she informs me that there is nothing they can do to help because my vehicle is no longer under warranty. She ALSO tells me that this $2,625.14 operation is just a suggestion from VW Tech on a possible resolution to my issue. That the VW Tech is not saying that the Temp Sensor is bad, but that it COULD fix the problem.WHAT... Youre telling me that I cough up $2,625.14 for something that VW most likely missed the first go around AND it may or may not resolve the issue... Thats unacceptable. On multiple levels that is unacceptable. 1st, that I have to pay for something that the Dealership missed/misdiagnosed the first time around and 2nd that they expect me to pay this sum of money when it might solve the issue, but they are not sure. So, I asked the kind lady if there was another number that I could contact to voice my displeasure/concern and was told, Im sorry, this is it. The sad thing is that this was a great car until the DPF issue. It was so good that my wife was wanting a VW as her next car, despite the Emission Scandal. LoL, needless to say, while typing this up, she sent me the following text, Well no more VWs for us.

I have a 2012 Volkswagen CC. In November of 2013 my car loss power and had to be towed to dealership. They replaced the fuel injector and stated all 4 spark plugs were burnt and fouled. November of 2014, my car lose power again. Went to Autozone for a read. Cylinder misfire #2 code P0302. Take back to dealership and was told it was a misfire but they state its a random misfire as to not suggest that the last year problem was not resolved. I am charged $744.88 for a Sea foam Cleaning. $20 parts 4 new spark plugs $17 (spark plugs were replaced last year) and a carbon clean. The bill listed a total of $90 in parts, $598.00 in LABOR!! Plus tax and $10 miscellaneous charge. Sea foam cleaning can be found on YouTube and all it does is you put it in your engine and run your car until the exhaust system runs clear!! 2 year old car with engine problems! We bought a new car VW Touran from April 2017 and unfortunately car dealer delivered a worse car that I ever received in my life as the following issues: - Adblue tanker was leaking in 2 months delivery. - A problem was warned and technician of VW could not detect the problem. We left our car to check the problems in few days at VW repaired center - Chaussee Ninove with nearly 100 km of our own gasoline fee. The problem was found by ourselves in a foreign country - our car was flooded due to a problem of the joint while we were in the car under heavy rain in Prague. - The light was out of order. After leaving our car for reparation, we got our car back with a new joint replaced, but horrible odor was occurred due to humidity. We came back to request a solution for odor treatment and repair the light as well. No accessory was available. It needs to be ordered and we will be contacted once accessory arrived shortly. One month later, we passed by to check if the light can be fixed and was told the accessory was not arrived because they forgot to order.- We face a new problem today with the battery. I had to call VW assistance to restart the engine with a ref under number **. The technician passed by to fix the problem and advised to replace a new battery as it happened twice recently. We feel disappointed to sell our ancient Audi to them and bought a new car with full options from VW. Honestly saying, service after sale was not good. Agent was not happy to request to fix the problems and unfriendly attitude at Robert Carrosserie - Chaussee Ninove 1070, Anderlecht. It could be the last time and ever to buy such a bad quality.

My husband and I have had a 2015 Volkswagen Passat that we leased in Sept of 2015 from AutoFair Volkswagen of Nashua. When we did this we were not given a choice of color, make, model etc., nor did they work within our budget of what we could afford for a car payment. They told us not to worry about mileage as we are now over our mileage that we were allotted for the 4 year lease. We have tried several times to trade it in for something smaller and they won’t work with us, they have called us multiple times wanting to buy the car back and we go up there and they tell us there is nothing that they can do for us. I have made several attempts to reach out to the sales manager and she will not return my phone call. She finally returned my call to tell me she had no recollection of the CEO of Volkswagen calling and speaking with her that she had no notes, but yet he called me to tell me he spoke with her and she would be calling me to see what they could do to rectify the situation. I again have put in another call to the CEO awaiting his return phone call to discuss this matter. If this doesn’t get resolved I will have no choice but to hire an attorney and deal with this Legally as we are not happy with the car and it has some mechanical issues that need to be fixed.

I have a 2018 Tiguan which the gas odometer keeps going haywire and when this happens the radio system will not turn on. I have taken to the dealer twice and they have reset it and now they tell me this is just something I have to live with and it is not unusual. Why even have the feature if it does not work accurately. The more I drive the higher the number of miles it says I have in the tank and is now at 4082 miles.

2012 Volkswagen EOS - I purchased this car used in Daytona Beach near the end of April 2017. Around September 9, the automatic transmission started slipping and clunking into gear. I brought it into the Volkswagen dealership. They looked at the transmission and told me that the transmission fluid had metal shavings. Of course they didnt know why. And because it has 64,000 miles (warranty is 60,000) I would have to pay for a new transmission. For parts and labor, $7,100! I bought it for $12,000 and it only books for $11,000. I called Volkswagen headquarters and one question they asked was, “Is this your first Volkswagen?” Anyway they got back to me and said nothing we can do for you. Only 4,000 over warranty and nothing they can do? Im still fighting with them. This was my first and LAST Volkswagen.

I have been working on my 2.0 Diesel claim now for 3 months waiting patiently and every time I call they give me no information on how long it will take. My Forms were fax over month ago and when I log into portal it says waiting on Fax. When I call they tell me absolutely nothing other than I am waiting for them to upload my forms into the system. This has been the worst experience ever and I assure you they will never get my business again. The way they are handling these claims is an absolute joke. Their customer service I rate at 0 on a scale of 1 to 10. DO NOT BUY VOLKSWAGEN!

I purchased the vehicle almost a year ago. After month with the car, I started to hear door noises on my car - squeaky and cracking sounds. I’ve been going to the dealership for about 10 times and they haven’t fixed the problem. Dealerships are not Helpful. I told him I didn’t, the car has a defect but they keep saying they can fix the problem. I’ve been having this problem for a year now. This is the last time I’m gonna be getting a Volkswagen Product. Not satisfied with his vehicle at all.

2011 VW Golf TDI Engine Problems - So I purchased my Golf new in 2011. It has ran strong and I have had very few issues which were all very minor. After putting 70k miles on the car I had to replace something in the front end which cost around 1000 dollars. Now at 130k miles the check engine and glow plug light came on. The cars power reduced by 50%. A few miles down the road it completely shut down. Had VW conduct a diagnostics. They told me that my high pressure fuel pump HPFP had failed and contaminated my fuel system. Also the catalytic converter and particulate filter was shot. Oh yea and need to replace the water pump and fix the timing. So, the parts list was 2 pages long and the total including labor was over 8,000 dollars. Let me remind you that this car is a 2011 model, 95% highway miles and is in good condition. I have truly enjoyed driving this car and expected many more miles out of the TDI engine. I havent had the repair completed yet. It going to cost more than the damn car is worth. I have mixed emotions about owning another Volkswagen.

I wanted a replacement for my Mini Cooper 15 years old 147,000 miles. I considered Ford Focus ST, Toyota 86, Hyundai Veloster. I really like the seats in the GTI. The clincher was driving the car. The deception/lie that Volkswagen did on the diesel cars will affect you as a regular fuel Volkswagen car owner when it comes to trading in your car for something other than the bad reputation VW now. Be prepared to be ** when you get your trade in value as the dealerships are going to give you “Auction” since no one trusts VW anymore. They are concerned that if they were deceitful with the diesel, what’s to stop VW from making false claims about the gas VW’s. I have a 2015 VW Passat Limited, in excellent condition, financed for 4 yrs at 0% financing and my trade is worth $7,500 at “Auction” per the other than VW dealerships (Dec 23, 2016), I have NEVER been upside down on trading in a vehicle before, and note, this isn’t upside down, this is **, over $7k upside down. And NO, I don’t want another VW!! One very upset VW owner that has a worthless vehicle now due to their false claims on the diesel.

The car itself is fine, the company is terrible. VW Credit continually screws up. It takes numerous contacts to get them to fix anything. Then they will ruin your credit rating when they mess up. Their automated system suddenly got screwed up and did not take 2 lease payments out after months with no problem. I was never notified and found out from Credit Karma when they reported it as 60 days of missed payments to the credit bureaus. Ive spent literally hours over the last 6 months on the phone, copying documents, faxing, mailing and following up trying to get them to fix their mistake. It tanked my credit rating causing me to be unable to refinance my home and lower my mortgage payment. This is just the worst of it as they have repeatedly messed up this account. VW Credit has been an absolute nightmare to deal with and Ive lost hours of my life trying to get them to fix their mistakes. Never, never, never again would I have a car loan or lease with VW Credit.

2010 GTI needed an alignment 1 week after purchase. 3 weeks after purchase the car lurched and made screeching noise - faulty clutch and flywheel replaced at 600 miles. At the same time the door trim came loose on drivers side and needed to be replaced. Tires were cupped due to suspension issues at 10k and needed to be replaced + another alignment. At 30k, the air box failed (WTF) and needed to be completely replaced. At 48k the WHOLE AC SYSTEM FAILED and needed to be replaced. At 49K, the ignition failed. Now here we are at 51K and the PAINT IS PEELING off the roof and hood. This is a 3 year old car! I have never seen such poor workmanship. I will NEVER buy another and will sell it as soon as I can.

Fred Beans VW service-department of Devon PA - Dont trust the hype when VW advertise coupons or the Hundred plus checks they are suppose to perform while the car in service. It can work against your favor because they are looking for issues to charge you extra. In May 2013 I bought a SE-Passat V6 included with the price of the car a 54000/4yr service contract. The vehicle was purchase as an CPO, which means it had a few miles, I think roughly 5000. Being I am more prevalent to conventional, I am growing with synthetics. In saying I am use to changing oils every 3000 miles not 10,000. I am a meticulous car owner. This car in 5 yrs had roughly 33,500 miles in December 2017(with a VW OIL SPECIAL COUPON) which covered up to 5qts of oil, during a unconventional oil change prior to, I look under the hood and notice oil film on top of the engine. I address the issue and ask why this was not brought to my attention or address by the service department while the extended service warranty was in effect? To create oil film which was visible means it took time for the matter and the amount of times and in the increment the car has been in for service over a short period it should of been address while the car was under warranty. At that time they agreed to disagree and told me it doesnt mean its leaking oil. I took heed what was being said however they didnt understand or know in my youth I was a mechanic and built cars.My free oil change just cost me a deductible plus. After the oil change the car virtually was parked (except for a few runs to the market) until May 2018, State-inspection Time. When I purchase the car I immediately changed the tires and since 1979 I have bought mostly all and into agreement with NTB. They have a the best Alignment plan bar none to others retailers. I have owned many cars since my Military years. I was told the car pass inspection May 2018 although a few concerns should be address. One tires was showing signs of dry-rot (not an issue). I have coverage. And the serpentine belt (34,800) was showing signs of wear, my reaction was, Oh really. (Again I reintegrated it should of been replaced when the car was under warranty) The service rep claim it was not covered under the service contract I disputed his claim.Folks the Manufacture warranty is 3/36000. This is why I dont prefer buying vehicles with short warranties because the manufacture takes into account their product isnt reliable. And I cover extensively at the time of purchase what is and whats not covered and the plan I had covered everything except, Tires and brakes and I will admit I forgot the $50.00 deductible associated with a service plan. I recall asking Belts for ex: Timing belt and serpentine belt those items were included with the purchase in May, 2013 the car came with platinum plan.In conclusion, when a man is talking over my merchandise (car) I listen with both ears. After discussing my concerns with the rep he spoke with his Manager. As he walks down the corridor he tells me straight to my face I would pay the ($50.00) fifty dollar deductible. I replied, OK. In my mind I am counting the cost of the State-Inspection and the additional $50.00 deductible. The Bill presented was $289.00. I am about to blow a gasket and lose my religion. I ask for the manager (hes in a meeting) like I give a rats **. After 15 min he approaches with an caveat attitude,.. whats the problem. I was told I would be charged the deductible (in my mind Im saying wtf is this). The rep intervenes and says, I told you I would charge you less $50.00 of the actual cost. I replied, No you did not. Well folks I was caught in-between a web. I had a important meeting to attend and they had my car. I paid the bill,... and sold the car within two weeks. I will never purchase another VW. I forgot to mention I was (as the car was being service) negotiating on a 2018 Atlas I drive currently and own a Mazda 2018 CX9 Signature. I suggest use those smartphones during a conversation and record.

If a car is out of warranty by less than 30 days, is there a channel to go
If a car is out of warranty by less than 30 days, is there a channel to go through that promotes good will between the customer and VW? If a goodwill gesture is not possible, I have a question regarding the number of defects required for a recall? When a part failure occurs out of warranty, what recourse does your customer have? How does one go through the appropriate channels to ensure the customers complaint is followed up on? What documentation does the company have on the failure rate of the part in question? The reason I ask is, the driver side headlamp assembly (Produced by Hella) in my 2008 VW City Jetta stopped working. The part number for the head lamp assembly is 1JM-941-015-D. My best estimation is that there were approximately 4,400 - 4600 2008 VW City Jetta manufactured for the Canadian market. Note Sales volumes of City Jetta for the period 2007 - 2009 2007 City Jetta Sales Volume = 4449 2008 City Jetta Sales Volume = 4640 2009 all City models Sales Volume = 8421**Assumed 50/50 Split between City Jetta and City Golf in 2009Note that the 2008 City Jetta was only sold in Canada. Therefore the units that have required similar repairs to this point may not indicate that there is an issues and could theoretically could be viewed as statistically insignificant. A few things to consider, this is the only car that the headlamp assembly was manufactured for. It is not a common part that can be found on either the 2007 or the 2009 VW City Jetta, nor on the regular Jetta that was sold anywhere else around the world. Thus limiting the amount of data on the headlight assembly itself. The car in question has approximately 80,000 Kms on it. This indicates there was not an above average amount of use. Additionally, it has not been in a car accident and all parts are original equipment, including the bulb which was installed by VW of Windsor. The connecting wires between the head lamp and the socket melted, as stated by the VW of Windsor technician. I do not believe that this should occur under normal wear and tear on a car. The two VWs that I owned previously did not have this issue, nor was it encountered on any other vehicle that I have owned.Lastly, this part is not readily available to the public, because it was not used in any other vehicle. This makes the repair approximately $900. I have tried to find the part through other means and other repair facilities and was unsuccessful, because the part is so rare. If someone could please give me a call back to discuss my concerns it would be greatly appreciated.

Our 2018 Atlas went in for 8 software updates around Thanksgiving, 2018. We still had a COLD heater, meaning blowing cold air like middle of the summer. Our Atlas December 5th with scheduled pickup of Dec 7th. We were given a loaner (a tiny Jetta, not 3 seat Atlas we are used to). But we thought, ok, we were told the fix would be done by Wednesday. Then, the next Wednesday, then more excuses. Let me tell you, after 2 months! We went to the dealer to get OUR payment after 1 month, to pay on our vehicle we DID not have. To find the entire inside dash and more completely torn out! The excuse was, it was always the wrong part, going to take another week. Finally, we opened a case with the regional so called manager, Chris. What did he and VW do for us? NOTHING. They delayed, and delayed and finally gave us (after calling and begging repeatedly), a drop dead date of February 1st, claiming their Lawyer process takes 10 working days, we still got a sorry, were very sorry, but it will be Monday or Tuesday before I can give you an answer. In the meantime, leading us to believe they were going to replace the vehicle at full cost, or more, and give us our two month payment back. GUESS WHAT! NOT!!! Chris and Volkswagen KEPT leading us on giving excuses as the dealer didnt send us the forms, blah blah BS. Chris, the so called regional manger and VW lead us on and kept delaying, until, guess what, they say, Come get your vehicle. Its fixed. Thats the response!!! No joke. It is Feb 8th!! We have been BURIED in snow. Our family has ridden in a NOT EVEN comparable vehicle for over 2 months. We have lost work time and more dealing with the issues, and, oh yeah, made two full payments on a vehicle we did not have. Did VW or the dealership compensate us for any of this??? NO NO NO. Come get your so called fixed LEMON vehicle. DO NOT EVER, EVER...I repeat, EVER buy VW...PERIOD. Im also forwarding this story on to DATELINE, and CBS for 60 minutes. This is more than a problem of VW in America, and hard working people. This has been just wrong.

I re-titled my car from VA to IL in late 2019. After receiving my state transfer packet from VW, I called them before I went to the DMV and told them I thought I was missing a document in my packet. They assured me I had everything I needed. When I went to the DMV, they informed me I was missing a document that I told VW I needed earlier in the day. This caused a significant delay in re-titling. I had to pre-pay my taxes on the car for 2019. I submitted paperwork to VW showing that I had retitled the vehicle so I could receive a credit on the taxes I had already paid, and they told me I would have a resolution in 6-8 weeks. It has been almost 3 months and I have still not heard back on my status. Every time I call and talk to a customer service representative, they promise me they will get an answer by the end of the day and will call me back. I have yet to receive a call back. I have absolutely had it. Their agents do not care about making sure I receive the money I am due-I truly wonder if they are just holding on to the funds from the state of VA and not forwarding them on to me. It is ridiculous.

@VW So here we go again with Volkswagen and their shifty business practices
@VW So here we go again with Volkswagen and their shifty business practices. I have been dealing with this problem since February. Volkswagen Drive Easy is my warranty company. I purchased their most expensive bumper to bumper extended warranty. It is the top tier level policy that they have. I paid over $4000 for it when I purchased my 2013 cc 2 years ago. It’s is a platinum bumper to bumper 36k/36 month warranty but they refuse to honor the “bumper to bumper” end of the deal. Volkswagen of Union City has been telling them for months that I need a new engine & they keep turning that down and fixing different parts of the engine instead of fixing the underlying problem. Shame on them...AGAIN!!! What is it going to take to get them to honor their contract?? After numerous band aid fixes, they finally agree with Union City that I do indeed need a new engine. However, they are not paying for all of the labor & parts that it took, and which they demanded, to get us to this point. They expect me to pay for it. WHATTTT? Volkswagen Drive Easy needs to pay for and honor all that they asked for and agreed to. My next stop is Volkswagen Drive Easy CEO, the media and legal action. In that order. I’m sick of these slimy business practices that Volkswagen has gotten accustomed to. It needs to stop. And it needs to stop now. My car has been in the shop since Aug 5, 2019, this time around and they are only reimbursing my for 10 days or $350, if they even honor that. I’ve paid almost $3000 in rental fees waiting for my car to be fixed.

I would rate my experience minus stars if you had such a thing. From the day I bought the car I was no longer important to the Tracy Volkswagen Dealership. They didnt have enough time to go over all the details of this new car and said we could have more time on the coming Sat. They never called. When I called them with problems of charging it, they told me they were on vacation, but if you come in I can give you a little time. When I asked about problems with Barnstable free chargers around Hyannis they didnt know why I couldnt charge on them. Said they would check it out. They never did. After a month of trying to figure it out myself I gave up and took it back. They wanted me to go the lemon law route. I told them I thought it was damaged and that they knew about it. That would be fraud to do the lemon law. I ended up paying them a total of over $5,000.00 to get out of the lease. The Corporate VW was no better. They had nothing to say to me, even though they had me fill out a survey for their company. I sent them letters, all the information and copies of everything and nothing. So I bought a 09 golf in the UK 2 years ago with HID headlights in it (plug & play). I then realised they are bad for the car. I then had an issue with my indicator it would not turn off so was advised the body control module needed to be replaced. Volkswagen quoted me about €180 for diagnostic and whatever extra to get fixed (about €300) for new BCM. Had to get the keys recoded €75 and paid the 180 for the diagnostic and only coded one key. On top of this the diagnostic didnt work because the BCM was not correct. They told me to come back with a bcm from the same year and mark golf for it to work correctly. Asked could I book in a couple months later and keep it on site overnight to avoid taking time off work. We dont do that. After arranging work around the date I booked I Got Another BCM. This time the correct one with same part number. Back in today and could not pair either key and said I have to buy one direct for about €300 plus fitting but before that need to charge me €185 just to make sure this is the issue (again, as if its magically going to work the second time around). Collected it today and I was told neither key had been coded and I still have to pay the €45 because they wasted their time. This garage has disgraceful customer service and robbery for nothing. I will never in my life again buy Volkswagen and make sure none of my friends or family do. Each time I came into the showroom I spend 10 minutes before someone helps me and seems to think its acceptable to speak down to me. You dont take money off someone for a 5 minute key coding job you could not complete. Also not to Advise an alternative option of replacing a bcm that might not be the issue but in the end will charge me just to be sure. Back to square one but -€305. I also questioned why I paid more the last time to code the keys and I got no reply.

TRUE EXPERIENCE - If you are making a decision on what to purchase as your next reliable car, do yourself a big favor and DO NOT PURCHASE A VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN!!! I had been a loyal VW customer for 15 years and I owned a 2011 VW Tiguan brand new. I had heard that the Tiguan was a reliable, well-made car. I couldn’t be more wrong!!!My major repairs started with the replacing of the rear differential (few gears broke off from a sealed unit), to then replacing the turbocharger which I was told was defective. Then I had the timing-chain break while driving the vehicle, so a replacement was needed, along with a now damaged head cam. To top it all off, the entire engine seizes while on a highway and had to be replaced. The price tag to replace the damaged engine was $11,000 from the VW dealership. All of these major repairs happening at under 80K miles!!!While the sales staff at that particular dealership was very helpful in getting me into a new NON-VW car, corporate VW was the exact opposite. Their reply to me was that they didn’t have a program in place to compensate me for my troubles, despite the obvious flaws in their car models design. The fact that I had a low-mileage car with high out-of-pocket expenses was of no concern to them. So take my advice, and I have nothing to gain from this. If you do not want to pay high exorbitant repair bills, AVOID VOLKSWAGEN AND DO NOT PURCHASE THE TIGUAN!!! This car is unreliable with obvious design flaws throughout. Trust me, I experienced it.
