I have taken my 2008 VW Jetta 2.0T to the dealer 4 or 5 times due to a hard-starting issue when the engine is cold. I spoke with a VW tech and told him what was happening and he said, Yes, that’s a bad fuel pump. I asked if he can please repair it now and he replied, Unless the computer on the car tells us what’s wrong, we cant do anything. A few weeks later, a service advisor called me from David Maus VW and told me that they had another VW Jetta with a 2.0T engine that had the same issues and they replaced the fuel pump and that fixed the problem. I asked why VW won’t replace the fuel pump in my car. He said, If we cant reproduce it, we cant fix it. I still have warranty and VW is giving me issues. To top this all off, VW says the seal around my headlight is bad and is allowing moisture in the headlight. They said that would cost me $589.15 to do that repair for the headlight. I asked why it would cost me anything when the car is still under warranty. His reply, VW doesn’t cover seals under warranty.

Again I am writing to you, this time to share my frustration with the Volkswagen product purchased and the response received when my situation was reported. Back in August 2017, I wrote you outlining my situation; being more specific, while going to work at approximately 7:40 am in “stop and go” traffic my car shut off placing it in a no start condition, had to towed it to my mechanic and I was told I had to replace the fuel pump and the fuel pump module. A representative from your office contacted me from the number ** during the third week of September, informing that my request could not be honored because the warranty on my car expired. Approximately three weeks later I receive a recall notice from Volkswagen informing there is a faulty fuel pump control module in my car.I am of the opinion that Volkswagen was aware of the existence of the defect and that I was place in a situation where there was an increase likelihood of the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. This is by far a bad representation of the Volkswagen product and I feel hurt I was placed in this situation; this is bad customer service! This is a clear case of trickery and or dishonest act for financial gain. As a senior citizen, I am very deliberate about where and when I spend my money. I intensely researched this product to great extent before purchasing it but to my surprise I was taken advantage off and I am outraged because I was deceived by your company’s practices.

Until now I have always had good luck with the VW corrosion warranty. I recently submitted a claim that they have refused to cover. They are telling me that the damage is due to a factory installed molding and not covered by warranty. It is corroding from under the paint, causing it to bubble. They say that it should be covered under the 4 year paint warranty and not the 12 year corrosion warranty since there is no visible corrosion. I requested information, and they replied We would have to rely on the diagnosis determined by our dealerships. The dealership said they send the pictures in and do not make the decision. They will give me very little information about the denial and to the best of my knowledge the determination is being made by someone who has only seen cellphone pictures. It seems that VW has added plastic trim pieces in areas prone to rusting as an excuse to void their own warranty. I love the car, but it is very disappointing they will not stand behind their warranty. It is still one of the best warranties out there, but a warranty is only good if they are willing to stand behind it.

2011 Golf GTI with 110,000 miles. Entire intake replaced at 96,000 miles. Known issue with VW. Customer care refused to help. Now, at 110,000 miles, the hydraulic timing chain tensioner slipped causing the need to completely replace the engine for approx. $5,500. VW customer care, again did nothing. Just a heads-up to anyone interested in a Volkswagen group product, these engines are in many vehicles and have major issues.

So I grew up fascinated with Volkswagens. I was obsessed with Herbie the love bug, and knew I always wanted a Beetle. I had a 1972 Standard Bug, I currently have a 1972 Volkswagen Bus and I have a 2013 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible 2.0T. As most people in the Volkswagen Scene, Ive decided to modify my car. I took it to a dealer who specializes in a tune which has excellent ratings. Meanwhile Volkswagen knows that the Timing Chain Tensioner on the 2012-2013 betters were an issue. They denied my warranty coverage saying that the tune did this (which is a lie and failed to prove this with testing). I feel like this is another scam like the diesel issue.

When purchasing a VW product be aware of the total cost of ownership. Many VW parts are proprietary and the Company charges accordingly. For example, changing the battery on a key fob - $75 (requires programming), to replacing a door latch (including labor) $471.57, supplying an air conditioning hose (part only) $368.39. These are actual prices. When asked about their pricing policy VW North American provided an answer containing verbiage but no substance.

2015 Golf TDI Wagon. So disappointed in this car. 1300 miles and six weeks old: The phone system does not sync with my i-phone. The gas gauge malfunctions. The upgraded Fender speakers are less good than my Tiguan speakers were. Cant hear the radio when the substandard AC is on. The radio goes in and out and takes about 3 minutes to even turn on. The sun shade is getting dirty when it retracts. How do I get rid of this car? It is costing too much and I do not like it. Gas mileage is less than expected.

Ive leased Volkswagens for 20 years. I currently have three leases, two Jettas and a new Passat Limited. Since leasing the Passat, I have had nothing but problems. Two weeks after leasing it, the gas floater stopped working and the whole system had to be replaced. I got it back a week later and the car smelled so badly of gas and this odor lingered for over a month. They couldnt do anything about it either.Next, we were driving and the tire pressure light came on so we went to have it checked at the dealership and they said everything was fine. A few hours later we got a flat and had to pay for it out of pocket. Ive only had the car for a few months and its just issue after issue. I trusted the dealership. They know I have a family and their comfort is important. I didnt realize til recently that there are no air vents in the back seat! Im pay $285+ a month for a lease (plus $1500 down) and there are no air vents in the backseat. Its just appalling. After 20 years with VW, this will be my last. I put in a complaint to the dealership and VW corporate and just received a call that they will not help with a trade in. ABSURD! Their customer service has gone downhill for sure. I hate this car and cannot wait for the three years to be up.

Beware of the scam Half off the oil change. It looks like they might be putting half the oil!!! From day one always service my vehicle with Volkswagen. No one besides Volkswagen dealerships shop serviced my vehicle. A few days ago the car stopped on the freeway while driving. Lucky no one was hurt. When insurance inspector got back to me they stated that the cause of the accident was Engine fail due to zero oil in Engine. The engine had turned black inside and there was no sign of an oil change done for months. Which is not true. Also no sign of any leakage. None of the service light ever came on indicating that there was something wrong with the vehicle! The vehicle even states that Im not due for an oil change yet! When I called VW they gave me the runaround basically telling me that even though the car is not due for an oil change for another 2000 mile or months their hands are tied. Because The vehicle has too many mileage (94000) and to old (2011). But they would be happy to forward my complaint to the dealer that did my oil change. They didnt even offer to have my car inspected by one of their shop. Thought I was saving when I got that offer in the mail half off my oil change. Which now is going to cost me a new engine!

I bought a VW Tiguan in Dec. 2019, top of the line with bells and whistles. About 14,000 Km after, when I took it for the 15k km service, I asked them to have a look at the brakes as theyve started to make some noise. They said the brakes overheat, the metal is blue (sign of overheating) and they theyll need to be replaced. $1,500 invoice. They said the warranty doesnt want to cover it as it is a consumable. I know that the warranty doesnt cover consumables (oil, filters, brake pads etc), but this is the first car I have to change the brakes under 60,000 - 80,000 Km. I love my cars and I look after them, but I see this as a factory defect, not a user error.I would like to clarify something: Ive owned and drove multiple cars along the years. Im a car guy, I love cars. I bought the Tiguan for my wife, but I drove it 90% of the time due to some circumstances. I had multiple German cars, Japanese and American cars over the years. Just so you know, Im not looking for any freebies, discounts or anything like that. Just want the manufacturer and representatives to stand behind their claims and contracts. The dealer cant change them on warranty, theyve submitted pictures and technical reports to VW Canada but theyve rejected any warranty claims. Ive called them directly to talk about the situation, theyve opened another case and VW Canada said theyll get back to me in 48 hours. Few days later I called them again as I didnt hear anything from them. They said another 48 hours...This becomes a joke, they throw the blame from one to the other and together to the put it in the owners lap to pay it. The warranty is a shame, they make the best to get out of replacing faulty parts or repair them stating its user fault. I start to have doubts about the parts reliability and warranty, at least not in North America. Unless you have a blown engine in less than 1,000 Km, they wont cover anything, and even then, they might say youve done something wrong to it or looked in the mirror the wrong way.

This process took way too long to solve. I had divorced and changed my name before the recall started. In filling out the many pages required by VW, a question was have you had a name change. Oh! I wish I hadnt said yes. I sent proof of name change with an ID. My drivers license. This set me back a month or more with getting my paperwork done. No one had enough common sense to know how to handle a name change. One CS said I needed a proof of a marriage certificate. What??? Marriage certificate, I said, I was divorced. People, I was on the phone for 2 hours and 15 minutes wanting to know how to resolve how to show another way to prove my name change. I sent a copy of the page in my divorce papers that proved my name change. This was not enough. I had to send my whole divorce decree. In my opinion Thats not their business but I sent it anyway thinking I would finally get my appt for the buyback. Two weeks later I was finally approved and then was sent a calendar to make appt. The first available day was another month wait. Ridiculous! Then I found out that the buyback check will be five business days after the appt before depositing. So I asked if a car would be provided for me the five to seven days that I would be without transportation. No! Was the answer. Who does this? I dont have a second car. This whole thing has been very stressful. I will never buy a VW again. Good riddance.

I purchased a 2014 VW Jetta last year from the dealer. My first time in for service was recently. I was not impressed. I had some minor complaints about parts not working up to standard. Without getting long winded, the gist of the story is, everything seemed to be an issue and not under warranty for whatever reason, blah blah blah. I had owned a Mazda for years prior, and never had ANY issues with warranty work being done. Even the smallest complaint and they fixed it right up, no questions asked. I dont care how good they think their vehicles are. This resistance at the service counter will not deter me from a future purchase of a Volkswagen product.

Dear Rick **, I wanted to contact you regarding my experience with VW Board
Dear Rick **, I wanted to contact you regarding my experience with VW Boardwalk over the last month. I am sad to say that I have been very disappointed in the services provided. VW is viewed with a top of the line customer service and standard of care, and unfortunately I no longer can see this. I have been disappointed enough that I have decided not to continue servicing my vehicle with your branch. I was charged 1000 dollars at the beginning of the month for a service that included flushing my coolant and replacing the timing belt cover, which I was told was most necessary. Afterwards my car stopped working all together and I had to tow it to the closest VW dealership where my battery was replaced. In the midst of this my vehicle also had been broken into, shattering my windows and stealing my purse, which I understand is my misfortune, but this also led to delays in getting my vehicle to the shop.Following the battery replacement it was noted in the system by VW SF that the coolant was leaking as well as oil. This was never told to me, this was later pointed out in the notes during my last and most recent service. VW SF just replaced the battery and said I was good to go. The next day I noticed a puddle under my car, determined it was coolant and since your technicians had just worked on that system in which I spent a large amount of money I went straight to you. My car remained with the shop for two days before I got an answer that the water pump needed replacing. This was very curious to me as I had replaced it exactly one year ago with another VW dealer in SF and that your technicians had just finished working on that system, and said everything was taken care of. My understanding is that when a car is serviced these kinds of things are tested and addressed, please let me know if that is not the standard. I would hope that during this testing they would discover a leak in the very two systems they just worked on.I would like to note that at the first service on 9/10/2018 I was advised to replace the timing belt cover, this was necessary to prevent an oil leak, which again was noted to remain. In that service is also when I had my coolant system flushed, which then again was noted on 9/19/2018 to be leaking, all less than two weeks after the initial service. This information again was not shared with me verbally but noted in the invoice. Also noteworthy my warranty for the water seal expired on 9/20/2018. Due to the inconvenience of timing when the diagnosis was finally made, my one year warranty had expired four days before, leaving me with another very large bill. With all my concerns your representative heard me out, and said he would try to help as this was very much not fair. I waited his return call, left VM after VM, and never heard back for another two days. At this point I am without my vehicle and a little desperate to get it back. The representative said he would help me out and give me a good deal. I had other quotes at this time for much less, and considering VW wouldnt honor the very recently expired warranty, which is one of the reason I always have my vehicle serviced with them second to the standard of excellence I have always expected, I was considering cheaper options. The representative seemed sincere in his attempt to help so I gave your team a second chance. When I picked the vehicle up I was given a bill of 1300 dollars. 900 of that for labor charges. To me I feel I have not received the high standard care and excellence that I expect from VW. I leave my car in the hands of your employees and expect them to work efficiently and honestly. I expect them to report to me what is wrong with the vehicle as well as what needs to be fixed in order to keep my car functioning at its best level. And lastly I feel that I have been taken advantage of costing me not only money but stress and unease and a lot of my time. I am very disappointed as I am sure you can understand through this email. I honestly cant even trust that the work that was just finished is done properly or that the work I have had done needed to be done at all. I feel that the standard of performance, liability and honesty has been very much compromised. I also feel that guarantee of labor and parts doesnt actually exist. I really am disappointed that I no longer feel I can trust my car in the hands of VW representatives. If not them, then who?

In October 2016 I registered my 2013 VW Jetta TDI with VW as a buyback. As soon as requested I submitted copies of registration, drivers licenses and lien holder info. About a month later (definitely not within the qp days VW was supposed to respond). I got a final offer letter. I signed the correct places, had it notarized and faxed it on as directed. Two weeks and two phone calls later to customer support the status remained as waiting for fax. So I faxed the documents again. Another wasted phone call to CS to find out why they dont/cant acknowledge receiving my fax... Then I get an email stating I didnt send all pages of my offer. So back to another fax ($8) every time. Twenty four hours later status is waiting for fax... I have transmission receipt showing all 7 pages were successfully sent. Another call to CS and again they give me a non answer... I have no way of knowing. VW is stalling. What is our next recourse?

My car computer said the Convertible Top needed to be serviced. I hadnt used the top for about 6 months prior to the light coming on. I took it in to the local dealership and was told that one of the latches that hold the hard top on was not working well. They ordered the part and finally got them in 4 weeks later. They replaced the latches then called and told me that it still was not working and that there was a bent left hinge to the roof that was the problem. VW would only be able to fix this problem by replacing the entire roof for $9500. I created a case with VW USA and when they said that my car was 9000 miles out of the manufacturers warranty, but the car was still only 2.5 years old, and there was nothing they could do for me, I escalated an email to the CEO of VW USA. A department Assistant called me back, said they would send their field service manager for the region out to look at the car and get back to me. They would not give me any names of anyone that was looking at my car besides the dealership mechanics. They called back and would not help me with fixing the car. Essentially I was leasing a $20,000 car that had $10,000 of damage that I didnt cause and VW said, Oh well, cant help you. This was 4 months ago. Ive talked to several current and former VW mechanics and they all said that VW is the only shop that can fix the car. They did however share with me a tech-tip that shows a manufacturers issue with a grommet in the left side of the convertible top that can pop loose, causing the exact damage that Im experiencing with my convertible top. That was posted in April of 2013, and the dealership did not mention this or to my knowledge investigate it. I loved this car. Ive barely driven it over the last 8 months. Im so disappointed in VW for not only NOT rectifying such a strange mechanical problem, but expecting anyone to fix a car for the ridiculous amount of $10,000. The dealership was great and very helpful but I cant help but wonder if the hinge wasnt damaged by the dealership after the fact. The top still doesnt work and I have no resolution. BAD REPUTATION for VW. Every mechanic I spoke with said that VW are the toughest and most expensive cars to work on and they recommend to everyone not to be them. This is my first negative rating of anything, ever! I am so angry and truly disappointed that VW has chosen to not deal with this. Not that VW cares but I will never buy another VW and I will advise anyone I know to stay away from them as well.

I have been an on/off VW owner for almost 15 years. I recently became one again just a few months ago and now I know why I was on/off, rather than always on! After this current experience, I cannot recommend Volkswagen products any longer and no matter what changes they make, I will never return. My recent vehicle was purchased brand new and the quality of workmanship on it is so poor that I would not let my worst enemy get one. Mine came with a defective dashboard straight out of the factory! The dash had a golf ball sized imperfection and a few hollow spots near the passenger airbag. The front window trims also had gashes in them and were also colored differently. One of my interior lights has a bug and some floating debris inside of the housing. There is a s black paint mark on one side of my trunk door (my vehicle is red). I dont care how much the vehicle retails for, this workmanship is pure junk and 100% unacceptable. This vehicle and all of VW is a total embarrassment to the entire car world. At the end of the Lease, the inspector charged me for damages that do not exist. I called VW, I talked to a supervisor. I explained to her that the inspector (who was rude) charged me for a previous repair without any visible damage, charged me for a dent in the door (there was no dent) and charged me for a dent BELOW the car (need to lay in the floor to see it). She said the only way they will take off those charges was with an invoice from a body shop that states that were repaired. I requested her to do another inspection and she said no, they dont do more inspections, so because I insisted her then at the end she accepted to credit me $200 on the final bill. I went to a body shop, I explained to him what was going on and he was in shock. He told me there was nothing he could do because there was nothing to repair, I should hire an attorney. The day of the car return I explained to the person that received the car all this. He start looking at the car and he didnt understand why I was being charged. I got the final bill a month later and I have been charged in full without any credit.

I am so unhappy with the service and the cars Ive been driving. It is one problem after the other. My problem is you guys keep on fixing how many times must a new car be fixed. I changed my previous Polo for the new Polo because of the problems it gave me and the constant fixing. The new Polo is a bigger piece of rubbish with endless issues. Can you just take your car please. Im not interested in any more fixing. I had enough. This is what Ive been experiencing: wind sound problem, the brakes noise, the 2 seat belt campaigns, the handbrake campaign, an Issue with the handbrake, I had an issue with the tyre alert thing as well. It said that the left rear was low but the right rear had a puncture, And now to top it all off its raining in at the sun visor. I was soaking wet yesterday by the time I got home from work. Please understand I do not need these kind of problems from something I pay EVERY month. I bought the car from VW at Edenvale.

I called to set up a payment on a Monday for the following Friday. The CSR even repeated the dates to me. The payment was put in for the next day instead of that Friday resulting in an overdraft with a fee. I called back on that Friday and explained what they had done and asked the CSR again if she was sure that they werent going to try to take the first payment out again before I set up a new one. She assured me that they would not so I went ahead and set up the payment again. Again, she was clueless because they did indeed try to now take out 2 payments! This caused another overdraft fee and a stop payment for the second payment. I called again and they stated that they needed a copy of my bank statement proving the $88.00 in fees so I faxed them the statement and called back 3 days later. The payment had not been processed and the CSR had to place me on hold for 10 minutes to go find the fax! He assured me that a check would go out to me that day. Well, that was 5 days ago so I called back today and another CSR manager apologized and stated that somehow it didnt get send to the correct department for approval so she would take care of it today. Very poor customer service to say the least and I wont be recommending them to others.

I just received a huge turn-in bill from VW. This was the fourth (and last!) VW I have leased. I asked them to reverse the $350 return fee (pure robbery) and they would only reverse it if I leased a fifth one. The Tiguan was poorly made. The ceiling lining was slightly loose on one side because of a leaky sunroof. The dealer said to take a picture and fight the charge. I called VW Credit and the person refused to reverse the charge and said I should have taken it to the dealership. I was charged $258 for that. I told her that I had leased 4 Volkswagens and that didnt make one iota of difference to her. For what is a tiny degree of money to VW, they have lost a customer. All that piece of work had to say was Im sorry. Can we expect full payment at the end of the month?? I will NEVER get another VW. I just bought a Mazda SUV and am very happy.

I like my diesel Volkswagen Jetta but the biggest problem I have with it is it shakes like crazy when stopping at lights or any other time I stop especially in the summer. Volkswagen has no answer for this and doesnt seem to care. Spent lots of money trying to fix something unfixable. Also radiator fluid sometimes leaks. No reason why. Volkswagen should have done a recall. It seems lots of people have the same problem with this car. I am not happy with the Volkswagen people. Very disappointed as German engineering is usually excellent.

I traded my car, which was leased with VW Credit. The dealer I traded the car with sent two cashier checks to pay off the car. VW Credit sent the dealer the title to the car I traded in and the car was sold. VW Credit now claims I owe them $14k+ because one of the cashier checks wasnt signed. Mind you, they never called me nor did they call the dealer. I called them because they owe me $2,400 that I overpaid. They refuse to refund my money and continue to claim that I owe them. Every time I call, I am left on hold for 30+ minutes while the person tries to figure out what is going on. They continue to promise to return my calls and never do. This corporation is very irresponsible and unprofessional. No one knows what they are doing. Do not do business with these people. I am likely going to take legal action.

So I get a postcard in the mail for a recall in my ABS system in my car (2009 VW Jetta). I make an appt at VW in Clarksburg WV for 0900 on June 19th. After sitting for an hour and a half I check the status of my car. The service manager says it should only take 30 minutes for my car and I told him is already been waiting an hour and a half. He goes, checks on my car. States that they have to order a new ABS SYSTEM for my car which 9 out 10 times a car doesnt need it. But mine does. He then says they dont recommend me driving it until its fixed. So I ask if they are going to give me a temporary or loaner vehicle to which he says I cant. We dont have any. So I ask if they will provide a rental. He says VW doesnt do that.So what do I do? The manager says, If you want your car you have to sign a waiver and pushes my car keys into his pocket. So I was told I could have my car if I signed a waiver releasing them of liability if I get in an accident but they wont provide me with any type of vehicle to drive temporarily. So with great hesitation I sign and voice my opinion on how bad their service is and always has been but this was topping it. Told theyd call me when the replacement came in.11 days later, I just called them and asked why they havent called me about it. The manager again (how hes the service manager is beyond me bc he does a very poor job at retaining customers or helping them) says to me I havent called bc I havent had any available appts open to get you in! I said dont you think you should call me so that I can make an appt at least?!?!? After all I am driving around with a disabled ABS system!!!Without any regard to my well being or my kids who ride in my vehicle or others on the road, he says I guess I can get you in July 10th. You guess??? I am so appalled and so extremely angry at how incompetent and irresponsible this man is!! He lacks any concern for others and hes fat lazy **. Cannot and does not even attempt to help me in this situation. I highly suggest that VW replace him with someone who knows what theyre are doing. I will never, ever buy another vehicle from VW!!! They have done nothing but give me a run around from day 1.

I re-titled my car from VA to IL in late 2019. After receiving my state transfer packet from VW, I called them before I went to the DMV and told them I thought I was missing a document in my packet. They assured me I had everything I needed. When I went to the DMV, they informed me I was missing a document that I told VW I needed earlier in the day. This caused a significant delay in re-titling. I had to pre-pay my taxes on the car for 2019. I submitted paperwork to VW showing that I had retitled the vehicle so I could receive a credit on the taxes I had already paid, and they told me I would have a resolution in 6-8 weeks. It has been almost 3 months and I have still not heard back on my status. Every time I call and talk to a customer service representative, they promise me they will get an answer by the end of the day and will call me back. I have yet to receive a call back. I have absolutely had it. Their agents do not care about making sure I receive the money I am due-I truly wonder if they are just holding on to the funds from the state of VA and not forwarding them on to me. It is ridiculous.

I thought I loved VW. Heck, I use to live in a town just outside of Wolfburg, GE. (Erkerode) It was a happy day when I purchased my 1st VW Jetta TDI. Drove like a champ and great on gas. Main reason I got it was because my daily commute was 2hrs 15min 1 way (all highway). Everything was good. Getting oil changes and services IAW VW. Then the emissions scandal happened. And I wont drone on about that. But, shortly thereafter I had a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) problem. No worries, I thought, Im still covered by Warranty, just barely. Bring her in to my local Dealership, they take a look and say that they need to do a manual regeneration. Next day, I pick her up, warning lights are off, and everything is good to go.The following day, I make my trek to and from work. And wouldnt you know it, the DPF light is back on. I call up the Dealership and drop her back off at the next available appointment. The kind folks at the Dealership even put me up in a Courtesy Vehicle. The next day I pick my car up after they explained to me that they had to do a deeper cleaning. Hey, no worries, this is all covered by Warranty. I happily drive home thinking that this issue has been resolved. Weekend goes by, Monday is here and I make my way to and from work. I get home and lo and behold, the DPF light is back on. Now Im getting frustrated and its apparent that something else must be wrong. I call the Dealership and they tell me that the only other thing they can do is replace the DPF altogether. It doesnt seem right, but they are the experts and it is under Warranty, so I drop her off. I get my car back, drive back and forth to work a few times, problem solved...Or so I thought. 20,000 miles later, I get a new set of lights on my instrument panel. This time its a flashing Glow Plug light, the Check Engine light, and a text display of a flashing wrench followed by the words Inspect. Wow, thats A LOT of stuff. But hey, at least its not the DPF light. I take a glance at my Owners Manual (OM) to see what these things mean. According to the OM, both the flashing Glow Plug light and Check Engine light means Engine Control Malfunction, and the flashing wrench had to do with the Transmission. GREAT... I just put a new transmission in my other car, but thats neither here nor there. I call up the Dealership and schedule an appointment. They have it for a day and then the Technician gives me a call to inform me that the codes came up for the DPF. So what they needed to do was run a regen and it would cost 300 something dollars. At this point, Im out of Warranty. If money is coming out of my pocket, Im going to make my questions and concerns known. I proceed to ask the Technician that if its a DPF problem, why is it that the DPF light didnt come on AND how is this possible, VW JUST replaced the DPF. Needless to say, he did not have an answer for either of those questions and said that hed give me a call back in 10 minutes or so. About 10 min go by and I get a call from a Service Rep that is familiar with my car and the whole DPF dilemma. She proceeds to tell me that they are going to investigate the matter and contact the main VW Tech something or another. The following morning, she gives me a call to tell me that VW Tech said it is a Failed Temp Sensor and that it will cost $2,625.14 to get it fixed and that I should call VW Customer Care about this to see if they can help the situation.ROFLMAO, they must have lost their minds. You mean to tell me that had I not questioned their original findings, I would have dropped $300 only to have the same issue keep popping up. So I did a little research. Apparently, when the Glow Plug light and Check Engine light pops up, it does that because the DPF is at 75% loading or is saturated with 40 grams of soot because the regen process isnt kicking in. And you dont have to be a genius to come to the assumption/conclusion that if the regen process (which cleans the filter), isnt activating because the Temp Sensor is bad, that driving approximately 20,000 miles without a proper regeneration occurring could lead to a DPF with 75% loading.Meaning, the Temp Sensor was most likely faulty the 1st time I was having the recurring DPF problems, only money wasnt coming out of my pocket at the time so I didnt question it, therefore the Dealership Technicians didnt further investigate it and come to the realization that that was the underlying issue. Quite convenient for VW. So, I take the Service Reps advice and call the VW Customer Care number that same day (today). The representative on the line was polite, and after a lengthy discussion she informs me that there is nothing they can do to help because my vehicle is no longer under warranty. She ALSO tells me that this $2,625.14 operation is just a suggestion from VW Tech on a possible resolution to my issue. That the VW Tech is not saying that the Temp Sensor is bad, but that it COULD fix the problem.WHAT... Youre telling me that I cough up $2,625.14 for something that VW most likely missed the first go around AND it may or may not resolve the issue... Thats unacceptable. On multiple levels that is unacceptable. 1st, that I have to pay for something that the Dealership missed/misdiagnosed the first time around and 2nd that they expect me to pay this sum of money when it might solve the issue, but they are not sure. So, I asked the kind lady if there was another number that I could contact to voice my displeasure/concern and was told, Im sorry, this is it. The sad thing is that this was a great car until the DPF issue. It was so good that my wife was wanting a VW as her next car, despite the Emission Scandal. LoL, needless to say, while typing this up, she sent me the following text, Well no more VWs for us.

My timing chain needed to be replaced on a 2017 Tiguan (or so they said). Only 70,000 miles. I changed the oil with synthetic per VWs maintenance schedule. Even though they had a massive recall on this same issue and claimed it was resolved, it hasnt been. VW reviewed the case and determined no action was necessary on their part. Basically, sorry, too bad. Then 3 days at the dealer with no loaner. VW Customer Care is a hardly that. Customer- Dont Care should be the name of the department. Over 1 hour on hold, or wait for a call back- you wont lose you place in line...get the call back later, only to be on hold another 20 minutes....seriously? We leased a 2015 Tiguan R for three years and drove it across the US three times, with no issues. Once the lease ended, we purchased the car from Camelback VW in Scottsdale, AZ. Because we purchased it from them, they had to do a pre owned certified test, which was last July. Since then, we have had to back to them over 18 times because it keeps dying on us. For some reason they can’t figure it out. They have now fired us as a customer because we are a nuisance. Without fixing our car mind you! We love the car but wish someone would help us.

Nothing but problems with the Tiguan. This car is a mechanical nightmare. 68,000 miles and the car is in need of such major repairs that far exceed the quickly plummeting value of $7000. Volkswagen of North America has offered NO recourse for this shameful product, and the experience has definitely hurt my overall finances in a way that has been beyond detrimental to this consumer and small business owner. Volkswagen should be avoided at all costs, unless you are one of these folks getting a new car every two years. I was looking for a car for 15-20 years, but I guess they dont build those anymore? Here is a list of what is wrong: All 4 coils replaced TWICE with VW OEM coils from dealership, still misfiring/pulling codes, Extensive carbon buildup in all the cylinders, 1st cylinder lost compression, Clockspring mechanism replaced under service warranty extension, EPC malfunctioning, Steering Control malfunctioning, Parking Brake malfunctioning, System running lean without a fix offered from manufacturer, Transmission timing not correct, told by Jim Ellis VW that it would require NEW TRANSMISSION at 62,000 miles (right outside of warranty) at a cost of $6000, Fuel pump replaced TWICE, Almost every light on the dash has lit up at some point.I purchased this car with 30,000 miles in April of 2017. I put $3000 down. There is NO reason a car should have this many issues in such a short window of time, for a young car, and the manufacture REFUSES to stand by their product or offer any reasonable assistance or buyback, as they did with my 2013 Jetta TDI Sportwagen. To compare, I drove my last vehicle for almost 20 years, with no devastatingly major repairs outside of normal maintenance. This used to be the norm for most manufacturers. The dealerships I have been to for service (Jim Ellis VW of Kennesaw, and Nalley VW of Alpharetta) have acted highly shady and outright dishonest multiple times in my attempts to rectify the problems, leading me to believe this a typical symptom of a broken VW culture within the separate organizations. BR Automotive Repair in Alpharetta is an amazingly honest and intelligent repair shop, and got the car drivable enough to trade it in, and advised me to RUN to trade it ASAP. I hate to even put this nightmare on another unwitting consumer, but I have to try to reduce my already considerable losses on this JUNK CAR. BUYER BEWARE!!!

Let me first say that I love my 2013 Beetle turbo. It is great in all the aspects except one, in my mind, MAJOR design flaw. I have addressed this issue several times at the dealership, but no help was available. It relates to the keyless start. In general I dont see the benefit of this feature. Is it really that hard to use the key to start your car? I didnt think so. Anyway, if you turn on your Beetle, say to cool it off in the summer time before driving to the beach and wait for the A/C to cool down indoors, there is a chance that you may have the key in your hand. And while the car is cooling down, you just may unknowingly hang the key on the hook in your house. You then take the beach towels and a cooler, lock your house and sit in your comfortably cooled beetle and head for the beach. You drive 80 miles and you figure out that you need to buy gas. You shut off your Beetle, pump the gas, pay for it, sit back at the wheel, press the start button. KEY NOT IN RANGE!!!!!!! This is a true story, and I know other people that this has happened to (maybe they were not 80 miles away from the key hanging on the hook at home, but you get the picture). I will never understand how they made such an oversight. And why are they not recalling the cars to fix them? If you have a Beetle with the start button, beware of this. It can be dangerous.

TRUE EXPERIENCE - If you are making a decision on what to purchase as your next reliable car, do yourself a big favor and DO NOT PURCHASE A VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN!!! I had been a loyal VW customer for 15 years and I owned a 2011 VW Tiguan brand new. I had heard that the Tiguan was a reliable, well-made car. I couldn’t be more wrong!!!My major repairs started with the replacing of the rear differential (few gears broke off from a sealed unit), to then replacing the turbocharger which I was told was defective. Then I had the timing-chain break while driving the vehicle, so a replacement was needed, along with a now damaged head cam. To top it all off, the entire engine seizes while on a highway and had to be replaced. The price tag to replace the damaged engine was $11,000 from the VW dealership. All of these major repairs happening at under 80K miles!!!While the sales staff at that particular dealership was very helpful in getting me into a new NON-VW car, corporate VW was the exact opposite. Their reply to me was that they didn’t have a program in place to compensate me for my troubles, despite the obvious flaws in their car models design. The fact that I had a low-mileage car with high out-of-pocket expenses was of no concern to them. So take my advice, and I have nothing to gain from this. If you do not want to pay high exorbitant repair bills, AVOID VOLKSWAGEN AND DO NOT PURCHASE THE TIGUAN!!! This car is unreliable with obvious design flaws throughout. Trust me, I experienced it.

I have a 2009 EOS - never again. While I like the car, especially the convertible top and driving experience, it has been multiple mechanical failures, some covered under recalls, others out of my pocket. I have had the injectors and ABS module replaced under recalls, and paid $2200 for a rear main seal (part $25 - the rest labor) caused by the engine oil pump malfunctioning and blowing the seal. When I got the car back after the ABS recall, it went into limp mode (stuck in second gear) and I returned to the dealership. Code on transmission says it has faulted 36 times - no dates - but this was the first indication it had a problem - no check engine light ever.Volkswagen says Sorry - out of warranty with no recognition of 36 previous faults, nor that problem appeared after testing for the recall on ABS module. Coincidence? They claim no. Right. Dealer tells me replacement is $5k-$6k, which is KBB value on sale to private party. Done with VW - working my way out of the two I have now. Know this: If the company hasnt been forced to do a recall on a problem, they will expect owner to pay. Doesnt seem like much has changed ever since US buyers have been lied to about the diesel fiasco.

Midway through the lease while driving with my 2 young kids the car stalled and would not restart. It was a horrible experience. The diagnosis was carbon emissions in the fuel exhaust mechanism or something like that. Ive since lost the records but Im sure VW has them as I submitted everything. They denied any responsibility and I incurred over 1200$ worth of damage and repairs. They stated that it was a part of normal service. I worked with Ryan ** online and through text to get a deal set up due to the distance to the dealership. I was very clear that I was looking for a clean vehicle, and explained in detail about experiences at other dealerships that I did not want to happen again. Although really wouldnt budge on their internet price, we came to an agreement. I stressed my requirements of the car being clean, paint being in top condition. I was very clear that needed to know about any and all flaws before I made the drive, because it is a long drive and I would have a baby with me, and hoped to have paperwork and everything prepared as much as possible before I arrived. I was assured it was flawless, that everything would be ready. Upon arrival, the vehicle was not up to the expectation set by my conversations with the salesman. The rear bumper was not attached properly, visibly loose and not aligned. The paint was swirled badly and had many scuffs and scratches, all of which could be easily repaired with a simple buff and polish. Two of the tires had moderate sidewall damage. The drivers door handle was missing a plastic cover; the metal lock cylinder was exposed. The interior was barely clean; the tan leather seats were mildly dirty and wiped in the main visible areas only, any deeper investigation revealed dirt and grime. The driver’s seat had a poorly done tear repair that did not match the color, looking like a light coffee stain in about a 6 square area. I requested that these things be taken care of before purchase. They were only willing to attach the bumper properly and order the cover for the door handle. Moe ** was the sales manager throughout the process. He was somewhat passive aggressive and combative, as well as slightly condescending. There was a distinct feeling that my requests were ridiculous and that I was just trying to drive the price down. I was told multiple times that they could not go any lower or spend any money fixing the vehicle, even though I never once requested a price adjustment, simply asked that the expectation set during my communications with the salesman be upheld. In the end I purchased the vehicle because I like it, not because it was a good deal; I will still have to invest to have the paint mechanically corrected, the leather seat repaired and interior cleaned, and purchase two tires. The process took 4 hours, plus 3 hours of drive time. The dealership is very nice, Coffee, water and bagels are available. The parking area was not large enough for the volume of customers there. I was given my choice of nice VW keychains upon completing the paperwork.

I dont think the 72000 (we bought the owners car with around 5400 miles on it) on our 2014 Passat TDI vehicle was in excess, after all we purchased it to drive not sit in the driveway. The 66000 plus miles we put on should have been a testament to the reliability of the vehicle. Diesel engines are made to roll not sit. I think we should have been awarded the amount $1115.56 instead of $651.00. We will NEVER EVER purchase another Volkswagen because of the shoddy way we were treated. VW Claims Service should have contacted us when submitted our claim. Instead it stayed on someones desk collecting dust when a simple email would have taken care of the missing paperwork. The first day I drove my new 2019 Tiguan SEL home, I opened the passenger driver-side door and the handle got stuck and would not go back in...Made an appointment for 2-days later to get this fixed. During the 2-day waiting period, I was stopped in a turning lane on a four-lane, lighted road to make a u-turn. When I hit the gas pedal to go the car jerked forward, and went to a standstill for about 5-seconds while my foot was firmly pressing the gas pedal. This caused the two oncoming vehicles to have to screech to a stop; and the vehicle in the middle lane had to swerve to avoid hitting me and spin out. When the Tiguan started moving forward, I had to pull over because I was shaking. The same issue happened again the next day, but no oncoming cars were in sight.Went in for the door appointment, I told the service rep about engine and asked to speak to a manager. An assistant manager came out, I told him about the engine, and he respond thats a VW and gave me a hug and two free t-shirts. New door handle had to be ordered due to corrosion, had to come back 3-days later to have it fixed. During those 3-days, the passenger seat seat belt warning sound started randomly going off, along with the airbag light flashing above the hazard light when my handbag was on the seat. Reported that and the engine issue again at next appointment. Had to leave the car for two days...At pick-up was told everything was tested fine, but VW did not bother to test the seat sensor. Was instructed to not put anything on the passenger seat, as stated in the cars manual.I was in tears telling VW of Naples dealership that I felt totally unsafe but they would not help me get another vehicle and told me to get back into this vehicle. So I contacted Volkswagen corporate to request a new vehicle, or to let me out of my lease...Denied. Both VW corporate and Naples, FL dealership did not care about my safety at all, nor that I was obviously an unhappy customer. Money should never come before safety, so I paid to get out of my lease. This is a deadly safety issue.

I introduce myself to you as a long-time and loyal VW customer. I have owned seven VWs in my life. Currently, I own a 2017 Touareg and a 2016 Jetta (son). Obviously, I enjoy the VW brand. It goes without saying that the events surrounding the TDI matter have been disappointing to me as such a loyal customer. Having said that, I accepted your apologies on behalf of VW and the terms of the TDI settlement as they related to my 2014 Passat TDI. Not only did I agree to the settlement terms as outlined by the US Courts, I went on to purchase the 2017 Touareg after turning in my Passat in late November. To be brief, the settlement process has been an unmitigated disaster by all accounts. I entered into a signed agreement with Volkswagen on or around December 22, 2016. I was told my funds and the funds promised via the settlement agreement owed to Fidelity Bank would be distributed within three business days. Indeed, I received my portion of the settlement funds timely. Unfortunately, as of todays date, some 60 plus days later, the bank has yet to receive their funds. Although, the representatives from Fidelity Bank have done what they can to assist me, in order to keep from being sent to collections and adversely impacting my 820 credit rating, I have been forced to make multiple additional car payments on a vehicle that I have not possessed since November 2016. Not to make light of the tangible financial losses in terms of interest and principle, I have spent conservatively 40 hours in phone calls and e-mails back and forth with the claims center, the bank and now the plaintiffs general counsel. Despite my efforts, NOT one single person has taken the leadership to step-in to rectify this matter.Let me say this, the service rendered by the VW claims department is deplorable! I have been a risk manager and claims/litigation manager in the insurance industry for the past 27 years. I have worked for and with some of the best. Simply said, the claims department handling the TDI settlements is THE WORST. They have been unprofessional, dishonest and in my opinion, they have continued to commit fraud on behalf of VW. The plaintiffs general counsel is doing what they can to assist me. However, to date, they have not been able to rectify this matter. Without continuing on, which believe me I could, I will leave you with this. I fully expect this matter to be resolved at the end of business today. That includes the payoff to my bank as promised to me when I signed the settlement documents in December 2016. In addition, I expect compensation for the accrued interest, principle payments and my extensive time that I have had to dedicate to this matter to protect my personal and financial interest.I have engaged individual counsel to pursue additional counts of fraud and material misrepresentation against VW. Additionally, I have reached out to local law enforcement to file criminal theft charges against VW and their corporate representatives for the unlawful taking of my 2014 VW Passat TDI. I will post this letter on every social media site possible by the end of the business day today should I not receive an immediate and satisfactory response. The actions by VW as outlined above constitute continued criminal and fraudulent behavior!

Leased a Golf... Had a couple repairs made at a shop and looked like new. Car had a broken bearing near turn in which would have cost $800! Turned the car in early then got the shocking fees! They claimed my cosmetic repairs were subpar and billed me to re-fix the repairs! Dealership never told me to get an inspection to make sure things were right, just bring the car back and we send it out and you will get a bill... Customer service did nothing to help... Never again! Paid a fortune for the lease of this ** car and they are gouging me for an exorbitant amount!

I turned in my 2015 TDI diesel sportwagen on December 30, 2016 to Santa Monica Volkswagen. On a car which had real aftermarket depreciation, as it was an in-demand car recalled two months after I bought it, I was given $10k less than purchase price, and they did not factor in the ($1,500) upgrades I added on (custom light package, mats). I received my paltry settlement three days later - however, Volkswagen of America has NOT paid VW credit. I am not getting charged late fees for a car I no longer own. Both VW credit and the CSR at VW Claims recommend I make the car payment that was due on 12/31. When I met face to face with my ambassador who helped with the paperwork, he told me all fees would be settled immediately - so why would I not believe them??? Was considering an AllTrack - glad I passed, as I want nothing to do with VW ever again. I called VW corporate and they apologized. As if that matters.

I bought a brand new 2019 Beetle and noticed it had a bunch of things wrong right off the bat. One of the speaker lights didnt work, the manual seat sinks after a few hours, and the A/C button doesnt work properly. I am 3.5 hours away from a Volkswagen dealership so it takes me 7 hours round trip to service it. I have to do 2 seven hour trips per service because they never fix it in one day. So far I have had to make that round trip 4 times and they still have not fixed the issues other than the speaker light. I dont have time or patience anymore to take many days off for nothing. The product is poorly put together and the service is HORRIBLE, at least at South Motors in Miami, FL.

I am fairly new to the VW family, but have been a loyal member up until now
I am fairly new to the VW family, but have been a loyal member up until now. I have a 2014 Passat SE TSi with only 57K miles on it. It is in pristine condition (my son has a 2008 Jetta SE as his first car). I am extremely unhappy about a design flaw that has occurred; something that VW knows exists and has existed for some time. The fuel door stopped opening (and there is no manual override or cable in the trunk to open it). The actuator had gotten out of sync with the cars locking system. Running on fumes, I took that car to Kotters VW in Escondido, CA. Kotters is a certified VW specialist that has been in the same location for more than 35 years. They are first rate and highly respected. After looking at my car and doing so research, including speaking to VW, the master mechanic informed me of the design flaw to which there is no real fix (just temporary ones). So that I could get gas and use the fuel door without fear of it happening again, he disabled the lock to the door. Now I can open and close manually, but cannot lock it.This is not the ideal solution and is not how the car was designed, but I do not want to get stranded. The fuel door is part of the fuel system as a vital component of the car. It should not fail at 57K miles and should be covered until at least 60K. Unfortunately, this is very common, and if you look online, many others have battled it.He was able to re-sync the fuel door lock with the cars door locks, but after testing it, the fuel door locked up again after about 10 times. I contacted VW and was told they could likely assist with the repair but that I would need to pay a dealer to diagnose first. This is not acceptable. I paid a reputable mechanic $100 to diagnose and provide temporary resolution. I am not going to pay a dealer again to learn the same thing. I want it fixed right. My point to the customer service person was that it does not matter what the diagnosis says; the fuel system needs to be accessible! Regardless of what it is, whether it is the actuator itself or something in the cars locking system, it needs to be resolved as soon as possible.I would like an appointment set up at Kearny Mesa VW in San Diego, John ** is the service manager. Please assist me in getting this fixed so I can again be a confident VW owner. If it is the actuator, the part is about $35-50, and the labor is likely an hour (open up truck liner and swap out). I have never had something like this happen with our Honda or Toyota vehicles, and never in a car so new. I would rather have to get a different brand than get stuck without the ability to refuel. Thank you very much for your timely assistance.

This is caused a dramatic amount of blood loss, a very deep laceration and several rides in the ambulance to the local medical facility. The edges on this compartment are seriously sharp. VW needs to make some changes. My husband is literally going to permanently secure this compartment that it is not accessible. 2017 Alltrack. Had we known how dreadful our selling dealer and VWoA customer care related to a new vehicle purchase would be, we would have immediately turned around and never looked back. Upon delivery of our new Volkswagen, we found several issues that we addressed and were told that theres nothing we can do. VWoA is basically useless when customers have legitimate complaints, so much for VWoA s concerns about the customer purchase experience. Without going in to detail, lets just say our experience left a very unpleasant taste in our mouths. There was no delivery inspection record or documentation, the literature and accessories were unpackaged scattered around the cargo area, one of the remote keys was defective, the fluid levels were below minimum requirements, the Navigation SD Card was found under the front seat, but the dealers 4 metal logo was prominently affixed to the rear hatch with some type of super glue. This is our last Volkswagen purchase. We feel that all we are to the dealer is a number in their quota. Pathetic!

They were slightly apologetic the last time and they realized it was their fault and towed my car back to my house the next day. To restart my account, I was told I can only pay through MoneyGram. So I found out today that MoneyGram never processed my payment, so hence the repeat repossession. Dont buy a Volkswagen. I made the mistake. And Im here to prevent you from doing the same thing. Heres the deal. Volkswagen is a dishonest company. Dieselgate proved that. Some of the companys former executives are now in prison. Theyre literally convicted criminals. But the issue is beyond Dieselgate. Volkswagens tend to feature some really nice German engineering with some fatal flaws that make the cost of ownership rise astronomically. Volkswagen Group of America takes no responsibility for any of this and instead only responds when it faces a class action lawsuit. I purchased a Volkswagen CC in 2010. It was an amazing, graceful vehicle for the first four years. And then became -- and remains -- like a star athlete who got injured early in his career, turning into a shell of what he once was. My Volkswagen CC is the Penny Hardaway of cars.First there was the carbon buildup issue with the intake manifold. Long story short, the intake manifold has a design flaw. It results in the buildup of carbon deposits. This is a common issue with VW and Audi direct injection engines. VW will lie to you about why it happens, blaming the type of gas you use. Cleanup costs $500-$800 to clean. Two VW dealerships lied to me about aspects of the issue, telling me two different stories. VW Group of America refused to pay for the cleaning. Ultimately, I had to get it cleaned by a non-dealer specialist. And now my turbo is failing, putting the longevity of the engine at risk. VW Group of America refuses to cover the replacement of the turbo, though the dealer technician said hes seen a lot of turbos fail.Ive had a host of other problems with this car. Leaks, replacements of shocks and struts, multiple battery failures, and frequent flat tires. Theres a class action lawsuit alleging that the suspension of the car has a design flaw, causing premature tire wear. Thats happened with me. Ive had to buy a total of 12 additional new tires for this car. Ive had to replace the battery three times. Ive had to get the intake manifold cleaned. Now I have to get the turbo replaced.I have a spreadsheet detailing my maintenance and repair costs, toiling in roughly $10,000 over eight years. There are other repairs various dealers have recommended that I did not get done or chose cheaper alternatives. Altogether, they would have totaled more than $6000 more. Every dealer comes with their own set of $2000 recommended repairs.Anyway, theres a clear pattern: these problems Ive experienced are mainly based on VW design flaws. The fuel pump issue (for which theres a recall) causes the battery to drain. The suspension design flaw (for which theres a class action lawsuit) causes the tires to wear quickly. The direct injection engine causes carbon buildup on the intake manifold. And my guess is theres some fatal flaw with the turbos. VW is a company that only responds to these issues when facing legal action. Thats why their execs are in jail. Dont make the mistake I made. Dont buy a Volkswagen. They continue to deceive after Dieselgate and should be out of business. Unethical people.

I LOVED my car. I loved VW. My purchase experience and countless visits for maintenance through the years were nothing but superb. I bragged about VW to my friends. I planned to buy another VW when my current Jetta needed replaced. However.... two weeks ago I noticed the headliner on the roof of my car was pulling away from the center light and in the back. This was a part of the car that should not fail. I only have 63,000 miles on the car. I have kept it parked in garages both at home and work. The climate is only humid in Georgia in the summer, this isnt Florida or Hawaii. There is no reason this piece should fail. I contacted VW and they outright REFUSED to give me anything towards this repair. They claim my car is too old. SEVEN years is TOO OLD?!? So they expect their customers to replace their cars every 5 years or something? Thats absurd. Ive taken good care of my car this entire time. I planned on it lasting another 3 years and they wont cover a $600 repair? Nope. They would rather lose the 25K purchase they would have gotten from me for my next car. Good riddance VW.

Bought a brand new Volkswagen Beetle two months ago from West Cape Volkswagen. It was delivered with a fault on the sunroof and with the central locking function. Taken to the dealers workshop three times, each time failing to fix the problem and adding more problems. Now the headlights dont work either and I am unable to drive after dark or in bad weather. The car was also returned with a dent in the dash, for which the dealer is not accepting responsibility. They refuse to replace the vehicle, insisting on trying to fix it yet again. Took it to the nearest dealer today to get the lights fixed just so I can get by over the weekend. They couldnt assist. They advised me to call out the roadside assistance, which I did, only for them to pull up their shoulders in ignorance too. Over R300k spent on a car that is unsafe, not roadworthy and with several faults and damages caused by the dealership. Think twice about buying Volkswagen. What should have been the pleasure of a new car is now much more trouble than its worth. Volkswagen SA keeps referring me back to the dealer and refuses contact with their senior management.

So here is the deal. My husband and I, we purchased 2013 VW Tiguan. During the first year I had to bring the car to the dealer 4 times, due to an engine problems. First time, the engine light went on (at that point the car was about 4 months old!! ), we brought it to the dealer and after they checked it, they told us that it is just a glitch in electronics...Two months later, the light comes again, we bring it to the dealer and hear the same story...yet this time they told us that they switched something off (!!!!), so that the false engine light alert wont come on again! Couple of months go by (just FYI - I commute on highways every day to and from work), and when Im in the middle of my way home, the engine light goes on again... 20 minutes later, after the light had came on, the car just stalls/the engine shuts off!! Luckily the traffic was heavy and I was going about 10-15 miles/hour...I had to come to a complete stop in the middle of the highway and restart the car. I cant even imagine what wouldve happened if I was going the full speed...We brought the car to the dealer, and were informed a day later, that there is a sensor problem, and that they will be replacing it. When we took back the car we asked the dealer multiple times whether this problem will be happening again - they assured us that it will not!Yet, a couple of days ago (the car is one year and 2 months old at this point) I start my regular commute from work to home, and...here we go, the engine light comes back on!!! And, as in the old scenario 20 minutes later (luckily I was still downtown - so the speed was about 5 miles/hour. I was giving a way for another car to go on the stop sign) the car engine just suddenly shuts off! I then decided to go to the dealer right away, and on my way to the dealer the car stalled (engine shut down) for the second time!!! LUCKILY AGAIN I was going on low speed due bad weather condition (first snow) and bad traffic!!! It just terrifies me to think about what wouldve happened if I was going 55-60 miles?? This time the dealer told us that there is a wiring problem (the wires that lead to the sensor are all messed up). I understand that they would fix this, but I am now extremely skeptical about the quality of this vehicle. I cant trust to use it anymore...I am now wondering if I should give up the idea of being a VW owner at all...Given that there was a recent recall on Tiguan models (some manufacturers mistake with the engine programming - which we supposedly took care of!! ), I was wondering if some of you have faced the same problem with the engine suddenly shutting off (Remember the GM manufacturers mistake and engines shutting off, when people died due to this?). If so, I urge everyone who experienced this to please respond, we need to take action - as it might be some manufacturer mistake, which might have terrible consequences in the future!!

I am writing this initial email today as a very frustrated, angered and distressed customer. I purchased my Pre owned certified VW Jetta 2 years ago this month at the Tysons Stohlman VW, and Yaw ** is who initiated the sale. I have been taking my car to the Stohlman Service shop for my oil changes since I purchased my car. This past week, I brought my car in for an oil change, a bulb replacement and to replace a hubcap that had fallen off of my right front passenger side door. After leaving my vehicle, and going to work, I received a phone call from the manager of the service shop. He let me know that I had more issues than just replacing the hubcap. He stated that my left front tire was so worn I would not make it home and needed to purchase a tire immediately. He then said, he refused to sell me the hubcap until I left my car at the shop to replace the wheel, get a tire/wheel alignment and possibly have the bar replaced underneath the vehicle.I left work – went to the service center immediately and let him know there was nothing wrong with the wheel. All I wanted to do was purchase the hubcap and pay for the oil change and the bulb replacement. The manager let me know that all of the above service needed to be done that day – the latest the following day and again discouraged me from just purchasing the hubcap. Literally he was letting me know that my car was unsafe to operate. I let him know I would purchase a tire if I must (as he let me know it may bust leaving the dealership) but not at VW. That night, I did purchase a tire. However, with the advice of my fiancé, I took my vehicle to get a second opinion and estimate for the service your manager assured me I needed. Which by the way - when totaled was over $300 worth of extra repair on top of the $133 I paid for an oil change and a bulb replacement.I am writing this to let you know the following. I took my car the next day to get a second opinion and the details I found is enough to make me report this service center. The certified repair shop that I went to not only did a full inspection of my entire vehicle and parts – but let me know I did NOT need a new wheel, I did not need an alignment and that VW purposefully was trying to take advantage of me – a young woman, working professional, who does not know much about cars or service in order to make a profit or increase their sales for service that day at my expense.Let me explain something. I worked too hard, as a 24 year old, now 26, black female to have purchased this vehicle, pay $350 a month and attempt to keep up with the maintenance – just for your service center manager and employees to have their priority be to get over on customers like me, and who are too busy lying to even realize they replaced the WRONG bulb on my vehicle. Needless to say, I am disgusted with this service. Feel completely taken advantage of. Had I not gone for a second opinion and inspection, I would have potentially paid hundreds of dollars in unnecessary repairs. This is unacceptable and disgusting behavior for a company that I thought had its customers’ best interest from day one.

After an oil change a few years ago, my 2000 VW Passats stop engine light came on. I immediately pulled over and turned off the car. We had the car towed to the dealer, where they diagnosed it as needing a new oil pump due to the sludge problem. There was no class action lawsuit at that time. When we were later notified of the lawsuit, we submitted the paperwork with all of the maintenance records. VW still did not pay. They took all of the info and said that they needed more because the VW dealer did not indicate on the repair bill that the problem was due to sludge. I wrote and also verbally told the people handling the class action suit that the dealer had told me that it was due to sludge, but that did not seem to matter. This is all bogus. On May 29, 2015 my car had a crash that I was told made my 2013 unsafe, too expensive to fix not covered under the Bumper to Bumper factory 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. Per the eye witness to my crash, obtained on the Police Report, here is a summary of what happened: The car was in the right lane of a 4 lane road. The speed limit on that part of the road is 40 mph (I had just turned onto the road at the intersection and was not going over 25 mph). The road was wet, smooth pavement and free from any holes, rocks etc. The right front tire canted out of from the car. The car then veered to the left, across a lane of traffic, and hit the concrete divider and steel sign. The witness took pictures immediately showing the right front tire still at an angle to the car, the right front bumper was not touching the curb due to the angle of the impact with the concrete divider. There was no visible sign of damage to the right front portion of the car, other than the obvious tire that remained tilted outward from the car. All damage to the car resulting from the impact with the concrete divider was on the left side of the car.On Wednesday June 15, 2015 the VW Product Engineer came to Missouri to evaluate the probable cause of the crash of my 2013 Passat. Since I believed that I was not getting all of the truth about why my car crashed I also went to where my car was available for inspection and arrived 10 minutes after he was finished with my car. The car was on a rack and I asked the mechanic to identify the right tie rod for me. The right tie rod looked intact as was the left side. I asked him to identify the piece that appeared broken. He said it was the ball joint. This piece was sheared off and each side was in the holder. The ball joint on the left side was in one piece with a top and bottom piece covering it. I asked about the brakes. The right front steel drum was loose and I could wiggle it from side to side. The left side would not move at all.I was called the next day by a person filling in for the representative that had discussed the possible warranty problem with me. I was told that I could not get a copy of the report, could not speak with the Engineer and that his conclusion was NO warranty defects! When I asked how determined how pieces were broken I was told that I must have hit a rock or other object and the parts were broken at impact with the divider. When I asked how the tire fell out while going straight on the road, there was no answer. When I asked how the ball joint was sheared off and I was told that a force from outside the car caused the rod to snap. Not a reasonable answer. I was then told my case would be closed and that I could not discuss this any further. I asked if that meant I should sue them in court to get the answers I was told YES.I do not think you have to be an Engineer to know that the conclusions were made with total disregard to the order of event and the photos of the crash site. If the ball joints are made of metal, steel perhaps?, then it would be impossible to create enough force from the outer side of the tire to cause the ball joint to shear off. There was no damage to the outside of the tire until AFTER the car was drag off off the scene by a tow truck. I suspect that the Engineer decided what caused the wreck before he got to my car and used the scenario of me crashing the car and causing the mechanics to fail. Since the tire chanting out from car happened right before the car veered left and then crashed I do not believe the Product Engineer has this clearly figured out.

In late 2008 my wife bought a 2004 Passat with a 1.8 turbo. All was good until about 70,000 miles then it all started to go bad. She had purchased the extended warranty so at first I was not worried and was under a false impression that the top end warranty package we paid dearly for will cover any issues we have with the masterpiece of German engineering. It started with the axles making a clicking noise when you were making a turn which being somewhat mechanically inclined I realized it would be the CV joints failing.I had my wife drop the car off at the dealer, well two and a half days later they call and let her know that due to the fact that the axle boots were torn and they where a wearable part that were not serviced regularly and it would not be covered under warranty. (So apparently you are supposed to pull axles every so often to change boots?) She inquired on the cost of replacement to be told it would cost $1100.00. I told her to call and tell them to do nothing and we will pick up the car. I was able to purchase the axles for $52.00 each and replace them in about 1 1/2 hours. So I ask, Where is $1100.00 justified? And how many people have been screwed by their VW service center? Problem 2 we had was the power windows, The driver side front and rear. Not at the same time but both had issues, The rear had a pin fall out which attached the window to the frame of the power mechanism. The front had plastic clips that broke which caused the window to fall into the door and at a later date the window motor failed. During this trip to the shop I inquired about the ignition coil recall, To my surprise they covered it all under warranty. Problem 3 was a temp sensor which caused the engine light to come on which once again to my surprise they covered under the warranty.Problem 4 was the engine oil pressure warning light and as you have read or will read in other complaints on this page due to the fact it is a used car with no paper work on servicing prior to my owning it I to am out of luck. Not to mention it took 3 days for them to get back to us. I myself use nothing but synthetic oil in all my vehicles and maintain them regularly. I was told by the dealer that the car has engine sludge and it would cost between $1500 and $7000 to make repairs. So once again I told my wife to not let them do anything to the car and have it towed to my in-laws house where he has a car lift in his shop.We pulled the suspension loose and back to access the oil pan and then pulled the pan. The pan and lower half of the motor was spotless except for what appeared to be a mixture of gasket and sealant particles built up around the oil pick up tube. That leads me to believe that the story of oil sludge is a crock of crap they came up with to cover their own ** due to faulty workmanship. We cleaned the pan and pulled the valve cover to check the top end and the results where the same, SPOTLESS, Imagine that. So anyone who is told they have sludge you should question the truth of that statement.Problem 5 was the instrument panel information center fading out on hot days to the point where you could not see any information displayed. At that time the driver side mirror glass had also fell out while driving on the freeway. I was so furious with the VW dealer that I did not want take it to them to see if they would deny repairs. My wife took it in and to my surprise once again they actually covered it. Oh, not the mirror it was not covered. Problem 6 as the mileage limit of 80,000 approached the check engine light came on again so I had my wife take it in. From this trip we received no explanation to why the light came on and where told it would be reset. However we did receive a list of items from their million point inspection or whatever they call it which totaled over $4000.00 and that the warranty would cover about a $1000.00 of it if we decided to have the work done. I requested an email of work to be done which was sent to me about a day after I requested it. Now for the problem with the quote, I apparently needed a new battery which would be ok but I had replaced it no more than 2 weeks prior to taking it in. The report stated I needed to have 2 of the coils replaced even though they had supposedly replaced them during a previous trip. What am I supposed to think about the rest of the list after reading about things that were recently replaced, Anyways the list went on and on more than I would like to explain. As of now the car is sitting in the driveway with a serious misfire and the code I pulled out of it was PO300. This is a random misfire code which does not give a fix for the problem it just gives a list of possible necessary repairs. If I will have to make all repairs on this list it could cost $1300,00 to $1800.00 which I will have to do, Due to the mileage expiration of the warranty. PLEASE DO NOT BUY A VW OF ANY KIND POST 1970. YOU WILL BE VERY SORRY!!!

As we were traveling down the road one day, our Volkswagen TDI started to make this awful noise and started to sound like it was going to cut out on us. We were about 16 miles out of town and turned back and went home. We had to drive slow, as the car kept making this awful sound and acted like it was going to quit running. When we got home, my husband pulled it into the garage and started to look things over. He took the panel that was on the underside of the car off and found all kinds of metal shavings and oil. It looked horrible. We called Broadway and explained what happened and then had the car towed to their garage (35 miles one way). After they looked at it, it was discovered that there was a 2-piece flywheel that flew apart. What is a 2-piece flywheel doing in a diesel car? It is my understanding that because of the torque that is produced by a diesel engine, it should have been a 1-piece flywheel. As the result of the flywheel coming apart, the pieces of metal shot through and into the transmission wall and wrecked the transmission. Broadway contacted Volkswagen and explained what happened. They agreed to replace the flywheel, but would not cover any of the transmission because the car was out of warranty. We had 85,000 miles on the car and warranty was up at 60,000 miles. There were 2 other cars that were brought into this dealer for the same issue and Volkswagen wouldnt touch one of them because that car had 112,000 miles on it. The other vehicle had the extended warranty so therefore that car was fixed. This was a problem in another country (I cant remember which one it was) and Volkswagen recalled these cars. The car did get fixed with a 1-piece flywheel and $5,400. This cost did not include the cost of the flywheel, which would have been an additional $750 had Volkswagen not covered that cost.I will not own another Volkswagen vehicle (this vehicle was our second TDI). Had Volkswagen paid for at least, if not all, of the cost of the transmission replacement, it would have made them a better looking company. What they did was wrong and the consumer paid for it.

I lightly rear-ended a vehicle with no damage during a freezing, foggy, weather cycle. The engine of my beloved 1998 VW Beetle began to smoke and then caught on fire with large flames. The fire department arrived and put the fire out before anyone was harmed, but my Beetle was totally destroyed. I have heard of other Beetle fires and am concerned for others.

I am in disgust that the VW buyback has not been handled properly or expeditiously for overseas military personnel. As a veteran and an overseas teacher for the Military, we deserve better treatment than you have given us and as like many infectious diseases and viruses, word spreads at the same rate! I hope that word of your treatment spreads like wildfire regarding your service and lack of support for the U.S. Military. I will surely do my part in this matter.Form after form appears to be a stall tactic! The public information on the VW website stated that VW would take care of military personnel and shipping costs would be taken care of by VW. Ha! I have just paid approximately $3700 for shipping costs from S. Korea to Texas and hope that I receive a refund! At the rate of your response for email and other documents, I will probably be in my grave before I realize any reimbursements!

I consider the official VW parts website to be a reliable source of information. After all you can enter your exact VIN to look up the parts for your specific car. The entire purpose of a VIN # is make sure you get the exact part for your vehicle. However the website it not entirely accurate. I looked up a part for my vehicle (specifically) rear rotor and it gave me the size I needed. It didnt give me an option for more than one size, so that had to be the correct one. The problem was that the part size was completely incorrect. I only noticed the error after I went to install the part of course. I called customer care to state my issue twice and they just said that the information on their website are correct and that is the size I need. So I called my local dealer and they confirmed that the website was inaccurate. I called customer care back week later and this time they acknowledge that after speaking with the dealerships that the website was in fact incorrect.I had to order the part from an independent supplier because the website was giving me false information. They said that since I did not order from them they can not be liable for the information. I tried getting some type of compensation because I just wasted $120 on incorrect parts based on the info they gave me. They said that the website has a data contract on every page that states that the information on their website can be incorrect and subject to change. Keep in mind this is a 2011 vehicle so the information is no longer changing. Basically never use the parts VW website as a source or order parts from the website because the information can be incorrect and they will do nothing about it.

I had my VW Jetta for three years, the problem began when I wanted to purchase the vehicle I leased. It took 3 months of calling to get the payoff in writing. I would call VW Credit and sit on hold for at least 30 minutes, before someone would answer. If I could stay on hold that long, I work full-time, and my Mother had heart surgery, so time was not something I had a lot of. If and or when someone would answer, one of two things would happen. They would disconnect me or tell me they could not help me. Call the dealership. I call the dealership and they tell me to call VW Credit. Finally, I got the payoff, then the check engine light comes on. Guess what happened when I took it to the dealership, the same all over again. Ive been there three times with nothing in writing as to whats wrong with it. Plus an open recall that was not even addressed. I am saddened by the complete disconnect from VW. I have an appointment at a local Ford dealership, that has a former VW technician on staff to diagnose the problem. I really thought VW was a quality product, I never had this problem with a Ford.

Our 2018 Atlas went in for 8 software updates around Thanksgiving, 2018. We still had a COLD heater, meaning blowing cold air like middle of the summer. Our Atlas December 5th with scheduled pickup of Dec 7th. We were given a loaner (a tiny Jetta, not 3 seat Atlas we are used to). But we thought, ok, we were told the fix would be done by Wednesday. Then, the next Wednesday, then more excuses. Let me tell you, after 2 months! We went to the dealer to get OUR payment after 1 month, to pay on our vehicle we DID not have. To find the entire inside dash and more completely torn out! The excuse was, it was always the wrong part, going to take another week. Finally, we opened a case with the regional so called manager, Chris. What did he and VW do for us? NOTHING. They delayed, and delayed and finally gave us (after calling and begging repeatedly), a drop dead date of February 1st, claiming their Lawyer process takes 10 working days, we still got a sorry, were very sorry, but it will be Monday or Tuesday before I can give you an answer. In the meantime, leading us to believe they were going to replace the vehicle at full cost, or more, and give us our two month payment back. GUESS WHAT! NOT!!! Chris and Volkswagen KEPT leading us on giving excuses as the dealer didnt send us the forms, blah blah BS. Chris, the so called regional manger and VW lead us on and kept delaying, until, guess what, they say, Come get your vehicle. Its fixed. Thats the response!!! No joke. It is Feb 8th!! We have been BURIED in snow. Our family has ridden in a NOT EVEN comparable vehicle for over 2 months. We have lost work time and more dealing with the issues, and, oh yeah, made two full payments on a vehicle we did not have. Did VW or the dealership compensate us for any of this??? NO NO NO. Come get your so called fixed LEMON vehicle. DO NOT EVER, EVER...I repeat, EVER buy VW...PERIOD. Im also forwarding this story on to DATELINE, and CBS for 60 minutes. This is more than a problem of VW in America, and hard working people. This has been just wrong.

We purchased a 2012 VW CC in May of 2012. The car was used and had approx. 18,000 miles at time of purchase, currently the car has 72,000. We had routine oil changes done (more than required by VW) and service to our vehicle. In 2014 at 51,000 miles our 2012 VW CC needed a new engine. We took it to a VW dealer and had the engine replaced. At the time of engine replacement, it was RECOMMENDED not included in our engine replacement that a transmission oil change may be needed. This information was not pressing in its delivery as other additional services were provided and included at time of engine replacement this was not. At the time of engine replacement the mileage was 12,000 miles over the recommended oil transmission change which was at 40,000 miles. Our car is currently at a VW dealer who is stating negligence on our part after ONE missed oil transmission change. We were quoted $5,500 to replace transmission on a car that will be three years old to us May 27, 2015. What options exist? Smells like a lemon.

Hi Volkswagen! Thank you again for another infuriating, impotent service which left me stranded without a car because of the faulty information I was given. Your customer service reps have repeatedly offered services they are unable to follow through on. I’ve already guided my girlfriend and my brother away from your incompetent company and I’ll be sure to continue telling each and every person I meet to avoid Volkswagen. Remember, your product isn’t cars; it’s customer satisfaction. Good luck selling your ** brand of that to an increasingly better informed public for much longer.

I purchased a used (one owner) 2012 VW Eos less than a year ago and have put 12K miles on it. At my first oil change 4 months ago (apparently you can go 10K between changes) my husband noticed an oil leak. I took it to a VW dealer since it has a 60K powertrain warranty still in effect, who proceeds to tell me that my timing chain cover gasket is leaking and warranty does not cover it. I called corporate in Michigan who tells me that all gaskets are covered but I need a certified VW tech to diagnose my car. I proceed to tell him that it is at the dealer as we speak and they say it is not covered. The corporate office informs me that their techs are their eyes and ears and they have to believe them. So now my car, which has less than 44K miles with an oil leak is not covered and I need to pay the diagnosis fee plus parts and labor. They offer no loaner car and only provide transportation up to 10 miles (I live 20 miles away). I researched this car for 3 1/2 years before I purchased it and shopped at a VW dealer for this car but was turned away because the salesman thought I couldnt afford their precious base model EOS which is not what I wanted (I wanted the LUX model). I work very hard and I made $88K last year and have a credit score of 894 - dont tell me what I can and cannot afford! I wound up purchasing my car the same day from a Hyundai dealer less than a mile away and their service has been extraordinary! Because of VWs service and the way they talk to individuals is deplorable and because of this I will trade my car (that I love) for something I do not care for just to get the outstanding service that consumers truly deserve.

I just bought my car (used) five months ago with +_ 52,000 miles on it. Great carfax, nothing wrong with the car. A little over a week ago, the timing chain slipped and destroyed the engine, causing thousands of dollars in repairs. I have contacted everyone I can think of for assistance with this issue; considering the car only has a little over 61,000 miles on it now. Volkswagen has offered no help with the problem whatsoever. Considering this is a defect in the manufacturing of the vehicle, I would think they would offer some assistance considering the amount of trouble they are in now with the TDI trouble they are in. I have owned three cars previously and never had such a horrible experience with them. I went with Volkswagen because I was under the impression they were a reliable and dependable car. They are far from that. Because of this issue, I now have a car loan for the next 5 years and no car to show for it. I have researched this issue and its not just me with the problem. Many other people have had the same issue before 100,000 miles on their VW as well. If you are considering this brand, DONT! They are of no help and have so many loopholes in their warranty so when something catastrophic happens, you wont be covered. There are so many other car brands out there. Go with someone else. VW is a HUGE disappointment in customer service and reliability. Hopefully, with the current lawsuit they have against them, they will go out of business so no one else has this problem.

Ive had my 2013 Tiguan for 3 years now (3 months out of warranty). I love the way it looks and drives. However, even though Ive kept up with VWs recommended service, I just paid $2500 for repairs that shouldnt be happening on a car with 45k miles (a new alternator, timing case cover gaskets, control arms replaced, carbon cleaning). Just two months ago, the fuel door wouldnt open. The dealer sanded it down, calling it a manufacturing flaw (which I still dont get since it worked for a bit over 3 years). What Im getting at is that this VW is needing way too many costly repairs for a 3 year old car. I was expecting to have this car for well over 100k miles in great condition but Im not sure its going to work out that way. They sold me on the idea of German engineering being so good, lol. Have a 2016 Passat. Laid keys in trunk and when rain started, shut trunk, forgetting keys were in it. Doors were unlocked, but could not get trunk open with internal latch, so had car towed into dealer. Already had a previous appointment to resolve electrical issues that had been ongoing from another dealer which had not been fixed. Car had 18k miles on it. Dealer could not get trunk unlocked, so instead of fixing the internal latch at the door to open the trunk, they called a locksmith and charged us $125 for a key to unlock the trunk. Got the car home, the key to unlock the trunk did not work. There is no place to put a key in the trunk, the latch still did not work and we could not get the trunk open. Called the dealer and they refused to refund $125.Did some online research and found there is a button in the glove compartment to push which resets the trunk, pushed the button and the trunk opened. Again, advised dealer of this and the inability of their staff to fix this issue and again requested refund, again was refused. Now, they wont even respond to us. When daughter went to pick up the car and pay for what was supposed to be an oil change, she questioned the charge and they were very rude to her, caused her embarrassment and caused her to cry. Volkswagen Customer Care refuses to help since the problem is not Manufacturer. The issue started from a dealer installed LoJack system, which customer was not made aware of. Dealer will not return calls, nor will GM.

I called for an itemization report because although I was making payments well above what I owed, it was not reflected in my account. It took three calls to get an itemization report. When I finally got the report, which reflected that my loan had already been paid, but an account balance was being shown as owed. I asked to speak to someone else, which was a manager with an IQ well below 30 and who was obviously really poorly educated. She kept asking me where I was getting my numbers, and I kept telling her from the information you just sent me. She kept telling me that her information was accurate and I owed about a grand, when really they owed me. I told her to add what she gave me, and she told me she did not have time to add 33 payments. I asked to speak to someone else who was going to be proactive and helpful. She told me there was no one else. I have to file a complaint with the BBB and call in a favor from a lawyer to get this issue resolved. These people are thieves and are genuinely cavalier to the fact that they do not know basic math.

I had a really bad experience with my Tiguan bought few months ago from a first-hand. My car is 5 years old and only 50000 km. The car was working fine until it completely stopped in the middle of a busy street. Had to tow it via my insurance and I decided to bring it in the VW garage where the car has always been serviced (having all the previous bills). I informed the garage that my car was getting towed and if they could organize a replacement car. The answer was NO straight away. When I looked at all the car bills a replacement car had always been organized but not for me. I then asked them when will they be able to take care of the car and tell me what is the problem. The reply was, “We are extremely busy. We will have a look probably next week.” After checking their online appointment availability it was clearly showing full availability all over the week but they finally started to look at my car one week later! The diagnostic price being $220 which is just absurd when you know that I will have it fix there. Finally the fuel pump was faulty and had to be replaced for $1500 which I succeed to reduce to $1400. I contacted my previous VW dealership overseas that confirm the fact that this part shouldn’t be faulty at 50000 km and VW should cover the cost. I then decided to open a case with VW Australia. I finally took back my car after 10 days and paid the full price thinking that VW will contact me and listen to me. After explaining to the dealership that I opened a case with VW he became extremely upset and unhappy about my decision. I told him that I didn’t blame him but the car and asked him, “If you were me, would you expect this?“ The answer was, “Then if it was me I would just pay and move on!” I clearly understand then that this dealership doesn’t understand the meaning of customer service or empathy. Then I received the answer from my case which was “From time to time Volkswagen Australia will support our dealers in relation to servicing and repairs. This support is not discussed outside of our dealer network. Should the repairs to your vehicle be deemed as a manufacturing failure, the dealership will liaise with us directly on your behalf. Our support is not initiated at customers request. Please speak with the dealership regarding the diagnosis of your vehicle. They will contact us directly if needed. We will now close your inquiry.” At the beginning I was only upset by having this kind of issue with a low km car but after the experience at this dealership the full experience is a disaster. I am convinced that there is a big lack of consideration from VW Australia and especially from this dealership.

After 6 years of being a loyal customer to Volkswagen, this is the thanks I get. I have a lease that is up Feb. 2016. November 2015 I was called into my dealer to trade out my car for a new lease. I explained I had fallen back on some payments, because I was out of work for a few months due to medical issues. I was making slow payments but doing my best. I had returned to work full-time and was ready to get the deal done with the new lease. They said Volkswagen, would not approve another lease because of slow payments. I was on-time every month for 51/2 years, and as you know real life happens sometimes. In any event the dealer said he was able to work out a deal and I should come in and sign papers. I arrived to the dealership at our scheduled time... waited 2 1/2 hrs. only to be told that there was an error. It was not approved and in fact Volkswagen credit wanted the dealer to confiscate my vehicle right there. They allowed me to leave yeah right gimmicks. I stepped outside and immediately called VW Credit to rectify the situation. They told me to make two payments and I would be up to date, or a least put back in the 30 mark. I agreed, I would go to Moneygram in the morning and get things squared away. Needless to say a few hours later my car was repossessed, from a friends private enclosed garage already suing which means I was followed to location lawsuit in effect. I only owed them $1,000. I had to pay $3200 to get my car back. Explain. Devils. My credit is now ruined, the vehicle is still due back in Feb. and I am assed out!! This is the second time they have screwed me over. I have bought them so much business I got 6 other family members to get a Volkswagen. So glad all leases are coming to an end. We will never support Volkswagen again. I will shout from the Mountain top!! Hate them all. Trust me lease or buy elsewhere!! Please believe me I have so many horror stories dealing with them!!

We purchased a new Volkswagen CC R-line in 2012. We followed the recommended service for it, which said 10,000 miles, or once a year. Each year they have rotated the tires and recommended alignment, at extra cost, which we did. Several weeks ago we took the car in for its third service with just over 30,000 miles, and they told us we needed new tires due to excessive cupping of the tires. We never expected to have to replace tires at 30,000 miles and asked the service manager, and technician why this occurred. They said it was obviously out of alignment and thats why it happened. Now, after reading numerous complaints about this issue online about this very same car and people being quoted as being told by some VW service people that the car actually needs alignment every 3,000 miles and more frequent tire rotation, maybe every 3,000 to 5,00 miles, we are wondering why VW is not getting this message out to consumers of this product. It could be a safety issue, when they are not telling us that the cupping occurs, and the tires are worn, especially as you are riding on a low profile tire to begin with. We replaced the tires with Continentals after they presented us with 3 tire options. They specifically told us All 3 choices are good tires. One week after the tire replacements, we were riding down a street near home and the tire light came on for the front passenger side tire, and the pressure began steadily going down. Luckily we were very close to home, and after pulling in the driveway, we could hear the air escaping the tire, flattening it completely within an hour. So we are calling VW tomorrow. No damage occurred to this tire, its brand new, and we wonder whats going on.It cost us over $1000 for these new tires. The car only had 30,000 miles on it!!! After looking at all the brand new tires, we are noticing they have all started turning a dark gray color in large areas of the rubber, in the week that we have had them. We plan on getting the car back to Volkswagen as soon as possible, but were unable to put the spare on, since apparently they forgot to replace the tools in our trunk which are necessary to change the tire to the spare, when they recently replaced the tires. We know no damage occurred to this car. Now we are reading about problems with Continental tires online as well. So why did they recommend the continental tires to us? So WV has not been forthcoming with info on this car to us or many other consumers, relating to cupped tire issues which may be avoided with a different maintenance protocol for the original tires (more frequent rotations, and alignment twice a year??) and then they recommend replacing them with perhaps a suspect tire? AND, after recommending replacing, they didnt tell us that the issue could have been avoided, because they want to stick to the illusion they have created to customers that these cars are good to go, once a year service, and you are done!! They totally acted like we were the only customer who had had this problem. Well, consumer sites on the internet tell the story, and its not a new one. VW needs to step up and start telling people the defect that exists with the RR C-line, and that it affects EVERYONE!

By far the worst dealer experience ever. Bought a 2015 Golf TDI last year.
By far the worst dealer experience ever. Bought a 2015 Golf TDI last year. I purchased an alarm system and finally got tired of the remote not working so I had the dealer take the alarm out. I told the service manager that I wanted the alarm parts to take with me. I paid for them. She said no. After a quick talk with the latest of many upper management replacements who apparently quit or get canned weekly, they made her run across the street and retrieve the alarm. She returned with the main component but with no wires/plugs. Whatever. She then told me... Volkswagens dont work with alarms. This comment came straight from the service manager. I then spoke to the salesman who sold me the car and he told me, after a long conversation about how much he disliked working for VW, that I should of never bought a diesel as Vw, and this particular dealership, had no mechanics that even knew how to work on diesels. This dealership also sells Mazdas. My last 4 vehicles have been Mazda 3s. Over 500,000 miles on them with only one strut needing replacement. The salesperson told me that I should of purchased another mazda 3 as they are better cars and the mileage differences between the 2 brands are very close now.AVOID VW. I AM MAKING TRIPLE PAYMENTS ON THE GOLF TO HOPEFULLY SELL IT without too much of a loss AFTER 1 YEAR. (SAD) Volkswagen SHAME ON YOU FOR BEING LIARS, UNETHICAL, STUPID, AND BELIEVE ME; THEIR PROBLEMS START CLEAR AT THE TOP. I gave them so many chances to make things right. They completely abandon customers after the sale. Bad cars, bad company.

We lease new Volkswagen November 2018. During a family road trip to Newfoun
We lease new Volkswagen November 2018. During a family road trip to Newfoundland one morning, there was a mosquito flying around on near the windshield inside the car. In an effort to swat the pest, the windshield was lightly hit and consequently left a crack on the windshield. Although, the night before was rainy and cold, leaving the windshield more vulnerable to cracking. It does not make it okay for the windshield to crack for such a tiny impact. This is most definitely a quality issue with the glass material that composes the windshield. Driving 18 hours home to Toronto from Newfoundland was very unpleasant and scary from the thought of the windshield completely shattering at any moment. After coming back to Toronto, Volkswagen told us that it was our problem that we broke the windshield and that we hit it too hard. But realistically, how hard could someone possibly swat a mosquito. Customer service was very unpleasant during the process and left us very unsatisfied. I hope they can realize that their windshield quality was at fault and that they can replace the windshield with a more durable windshield to ensure my familys safety.

I bought a 2008 Volkswagen EOS in 2008. My car leaks when it rains. I have brought it in to the dealership multiple times. They said they replaced the seals but it is still leaking. My car has been leaking for two years. Every time I bring it in, I have to find another ride to work and back to the dealership.I am concerned about health problems if there is mold growing under the seats. I am also concerned that the leaking water may be causing rusting in spots that I cant see. My door panel has the vinyl peeling off in one spot and they are fixing it tomorrow.I really hate my Volkswagen EOS, that I paid $38,000 for 3 years ago. It has been nothing but trouble and stress. I bought this car thinking it would be a nice vehicle that would last me for many years to come. It is not made of good quality like I would expect from a company such as Volkswagen.

After purchasing a brand new 2019 Atlas, it has been nothing but a nightmar
After purchasing a brand new 2019 Atlas, it has been nothing but a nightmare. From cylinders not firing, bad spark plugs, blaming us for putting bad gas in... Now on 3 visits, then a faulty battery which a corporate mechanic had to find. It has been nothing but a disaster! To top it all off, we want to get rid of this LEMON and that has become an even harder process. Not only does this car violate CA law for having multiple issues on a specific part of the car, my 3-year-old has been in the car with me on two separate occasions when it has decided to randomly shut off. VW corporate was not phased by this at all. When purchasing this vehicle, my husband and I turned in a perfectly good, special edition BMW and received this piece of crap! Instead of actually taking care of my family, VW corporate insists that they will only pay us for the difference of the BMW and car payments. Myself, my husband, and my sons life was in jeopardy while driving this car, but clearly empathizing with hard-working decent people is not in this business interest. My family has purchased from VW for over a decade, but that will not happen again. Not only are they not taking care of our needs while trying to split ties with their company, they sent a completely incompetent email to us with false options and that demand we send items to send to them? I am in the business sector and business is not conducted in such a fashion as this.I also want to point out that because the email was so poorly composed, I could press legal matters around the areas addressed. This is a very stern warning that if you are looking to purchase a family vehicle this is a horrific option. I am extremely disappointed with this company and cannot believe they claim to service everyone and will not accommodate those who have been experiencing issue after issue, two being highly dangerous, and do not know the meaning of taking care of loyal customers. Such a shame!!

I bought a VW Tiguan 2009 from Koons Tyson Chrysler Dodge with 58K miles. The problems never stopped ever since the purchase. First, its engine hood release broke, then is truck lock broke that, then brake, then AC, then car check engine light start to come on, and the car is shaking when idle and low speed. After changed all spark plugs and coils problem remained. I went through 3 shops to find out that the engine timing chain tensioner have to be replaced. It will cost me close to $4K to do it. The mechanic told me it’s a common problem for that model year because VW changed turbo but I don’t understand why they didn’t do a recall. What kind of a car has common major engine issue at barely 60K and company continue to ignoring it. I bought the VW thinking good German engineering, well it turns out to be the exact opposite. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!! Never VW again...

I own a 2014 Passat and purchased the car with 500 miles and after owning for 2 and a half years and 64000 miles, I need a new engine! Never buy Volkswagen again! Corporate customer service hold times are very long, escalated manager’s mailboxes are full. Poor quality and I will never purchase a VW again and will continue to share with others to never buy the brand!
