Product Reviews:
My son was parked with the engine running, listening to the radio. The engine burst into flames and exploded three times. He was parked up against a building across the street from our apartment. It was determined it was due to a malfunction in the engine, and we were reimbursed for the car by our insurance company. Our son could have been killed, but Volkswagen, which is doing a big ad campaign about safety, refuses to pay the building owner for the damage or to reimburse us for our $1000 deductible. There was a recall, but even though we bought the 2-year-old Bug from a dealership and had it serviced at a dealership, we were not advised of this major problem with the car. Forget safety in a VW. Forget responsible compensation from VW.David of Chicago, IL

VWGoA settlement - This process is BEYOND ridiculous. I have been in "process" since October 2016. Every time I submit they want something different. Approved documents re-submitted are then not approved. Volkswagen lawyers are HORRIBLE. They stall at every point they can, as every moment they stall, means interest from the settlement money they SHOULD be paying that THEY promised, lining their pockets. As consumers, we are getting screwed. I will NEVER purchase another Volkswagen, they are liars and cheaters.Brett of Grand Terrace, CA

I've had my 2013 Tiguan for 3 years now (3 months out of warranty). I love the way it looks and drives. However, even though I've kept up with VW's recommended service, I just paid $2500 for repairs that shouldn't be happening on a car with 45k miles (a new alternator, timing case cover gaskets, control arms replaced, carbon cleaning). Just two months ago, the fuel door wouldn't open. The dealer sanded it down, calling it a manufacturing flaw (which I still don't get since it worked for a bit over 3 years). What I'm getting at is that this VW is needing way too many costly repairs for a 3 year old car. I was expecting to have this car for well over 100k miles in great condition but I'm not sure it's going to work out that way. They sold me on the idea of German engineering being so good, lol. I leased a new Jetta on November 25th, 2014, from strong VW in Salt Lake City Utah, but the very next day realized I would not be able to financially afford it. I made a big mistake. SO I went back to take the car back the next day on the 26th (I know there would be some fees to pay). The gm basically told me that leasing from them is buying the car, and there is nothing he can do and I have to learn the hard way and take the car. He also stated that the money has already been issued out and they were already paid. Also that taking the car back would be like me working for a day and then telling me that I would not be paid. He kept stating that it wasn't like Walmart, and when I asked him about the early termination statement in the lease he asked for it, and said that he doesn't have one because everything is on the computer and so they don't have a copy of it. BS! Everyone I have shown the contract said that I should be able to return it. The GM's tone of voice was very degrading, I felt very bullied. Also my sister-in-law was there with me and can testify to this. Please help!kim of Salt Lake City, UT

Having a look at the reviews, I feel a little bit better as the company is just terrible in general, I thought it was just my luck and I was dealing with wrong service managers but seems like everyone is having the SAME! issue. What a mistake I made trusting Volkswagen, my car has been with them over a week coming to two weeks to diagnose an issue which they did after a week. Repairs were then done, I was then advised it could actually be something else and now another cost is adding, then they said I might even need a new Engine, my oh my.My other frustration is that the service manager who I called after being told they will call when they didn't had no clue of the situation and advised she was handed the case a day ago when the complaint was sent few days ago via web chat. I REGRET using them. I could of taken my car to a local garage who will be cheaper and diagnose the actual issue without trying to rob your money, I WILL NEVER EVER USE YOU AGAIN NOR RECOMMEND YOU TO ANYONE! WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE FACED!Feisal of Slough, Other

My Touran GT 1.4 was inspected and serviced by VW HK @ less than 12000km. Then the gearbox has vibration issue and needs to be taken out for repair. I complained to VW HK. Its tech crew member insulted me openly on a local VW owner Facebook forum, saying that I am a defective human driver that needs fixing, and that I should drive my car directly from Hong Kong to Germany for better inspection by the VW HQ.Michael of Other, Hong Kong

The Customer service at this location is the worst I've ever experience at any dealership. I've own the car I purchased from them for 7 years now and every time I take it in for servicing I have to wait hours before they complete the simplest thing, i.e. oil change, state inspection. I will never purchase another vehicle from this place or any Volkswagen dealerships based on the service I've have received.Sandra of Chesapeake, VA

My fiancee leased upon my recommendation in 2013 a VW CC. We decided to return it 2 months before the lease ended. The mileage on the car was 35% lower than what the lease contract specified, as it was only used half a year (snow birds in Florida). The car had absolutely no visible wear and tear, neither the body nor the inside. Upon delivery of the car we never ever got a call from the dealer asking why we were returning it. Neither did we get any comments about the returned car. Neither were we asked to have it surveyed. 2 weeks after delivery we get a statement from VW asking for over $400.00 for "deep scratches on the hood, the outside mirrors, the bumper". I call VW-credit and raise my objection. The answer: "We do not care what your arguments are. We had it surveyed by SGS and they assessed the damages!!" I don't know which car they assessed but certainly not the one which we returned. I asked, why were we not informed about these "damages" nor were we supplied the "SGS-inspection report". The answer from the incredibly rude VW-Credit employee: "It's not our business to supply you with a report from the surveyor nor is it our job to inform you of the damage!!!"I argued that the dealer should have informed us if they had independently found any damage. The answer from VW Credit "Then go and complain to them. We have nothing to do with the dealer. We recommend you pay as promptly or we will take action against you, which won't be good for you". We complained to the sales Manager at VW in Naples Florida, where we leased the car. The reply from the manager: "We have nothing to do with this. If you have complaints then address them to VW Credit!!"Called back VW-Credit. The bottom line answer: "Report the damages to your insurance company". I replied, "NO, I am not committing insurance fraud for you to cash money because that is exactly what you are asking me to do". I repeated that the car had absolutely zero scratches nor damages. What was the reply from VW-Credit: "We have no time for people like you". Phone hung up!We have leased the following brands in the past 10 years: Lexus, Kia, BMW. Have we EVER encountered any problems returning the cars? Never ever! Quite the contrary, we received letters thanking us for the business and inviting us to visit our dealer of trust so that he could help us choose a new vehicle. One fact is sure: NEVER EVER AGAIN WILL WE LEASE OR PURCHASE A VW!! If you have one under a lease contract, BEWARE WHEN YOU RETURN IT. We all know that VW needs to make up for the losses incurred due to the fraud committed with the emission scandal. Defrauding customers even more to get money from their pockets at the end of a lease is certainly a good way to reaffirm the company moral.JACK of Naples, FL

After having issues with our dashboard lights going crazy, we began reading other complaints online. We learned that the issues we were having came directly from a faulty ABS module, and then came across a VW recall on our car for the ABS module. After talking to VW's Recall Department, they told us it did indeed fall under the specific recall, and we could take it into any dealer for a fix. Our car went in on a Tuesday morning, and after 3 days of poor customer service and no answers, the mechanic let us know the ABS Module would not be covered, and we would have to pay out of pocket. He said he had even called VW directly to verify they wouldn't pay for it. We were then quoted $1300 for the repair, plus a $225 diagnostic test. He suggested I call them directly.I called the VW Recall Department again, and told them what happened. I let them know my biggest concern was the fact that they told us our car was part of this recall, and they were now unwilling to fix the issue. I also let them know the ABS brakes have always caused me issues, nearing killing me when I lost control while braking once. They said they would write it up, and look into it and get back to me in one business day. I am waiting to hear back, but there has been a lot of reason to think they will just use some excuse to not replace something so dangerous and faulty. We'll see.Annette of Oakland, CA

I have a 2014 VW Tiguan with a panoramic roof skylight, when there is a light rain the roof skylight drains work well, when it pour down rains it rains in the car. Dealer will not fix it, they say it is a faulty part and they do not cover it!! $2,700.00 WOW. Great German engineering if you like a expensive pool on wheels. I must be crazy as I own four VW vehicles. I will really need to reconsider another VW vehicle purchase.Joe of Arnold, MD
