The 2009 Saturn Vue is a compact SUV known for its practicality, comfortable ride, and fuel efficiency. Here are some key features and information about the 2009 Saturn Vue:

Design: The 2009 Vue features a contemporary and aerodynamic exterior design. It has a sleek profile with clean lines, a prominent front grille, and a compact yet sporty appearance.

Engine Options: The Vue offers different engine options for the 2009 model year:

Safety Features: Standard safety features on the 2009 Vue include antilock brakes, stability control, traction control, front-seat side airbags, and full-length side curtain airbags. Some models may also offer available safety options such as a rearview camera and rear parking sensors.

It's important to note that the availability of specific features and options may vary depending on the region and the individual vehicle's configuration. My 2008 Saturn Aura trans just went out today. The check engine light came on this morning, and during my drive to have it looked at, the car just started to speed up and back down so I pulled over. I called AAA and they could not even get the car to go into reverse. I called GM; I was told to take it into a GM dealership and now Im wondering if I am going to be out of a lot of money after reading the known issues. GM states my warranty ended 4 months ago, but I never received anything in the mail.

Just got my 2003 Saturn l300 two years ago at a dealership used. Started having trouble when the battery needed changed. The horn/door locks quit working then it kept getting stuck in park. Intermittent problems for months. Not having the money to fix this problem I decided to look online for answers. And from everything I have read and learned my problem is the (bcm) or body control module. What irritates me is that the only way to fix this issue is to take to a dealership to be replaced and reprogrammed as it costs from 700 to $900 dollars to be done! I still make payments on this piece of junk as I dont have credit for new cars. Im paying for a car to sit in my driveway and cause me stress! If this is such a common issue why hasnt this been put into a recall? Why should I pay for this junk!

2005 Saturn Ion 2: Along with my ignition switch failing, my power steering regularly going out while driving down the freeway, and my driver-side window not working, my key is now stuck in the on position with the car running. I popped the clutch to turn it off and disconnected the battery. I ordered a new ignition cylinder and plan to replace when it arrives. I agree with the majority of the community that there are far too many problems with particular parts for a recall not to be made. Im elated for the day I can rid myself of this car. Its been nothing but continual problems. My Honda on the other hand has nearly the same miles and not one problem in 5 years.

The transmission in my 2008 Saturn aura just went out about 2 weeks ago. My sister was driving it and it just would not start back up in the middle of Detroit traffic. It only has 80,000 miles on it and of course the warranty just expired about 9 months ago. All of us who are having the same problems should get together and create a class action suit against GM. This repair cost is in excess of $3700.00 according to the GM dealership. I do not have that kind of money to spend, in particular on a vehicle that only has 80, 000 miles on the transmission. Please email me ** and lets do this!

I drive a 2006 Saturn Ion that I purchased 3 years ago. It has 54,000 miles on it. Two weeks ago, it developed transmission problems to the tune of $3000. Whats maddening is that there doesnt seem to be any recourse. Im still making payments. Im fearful that I have more problems ahead. Is there anything that can be done?

My wifes 2008 Saturn Vue has 65000 miles on it. Less than a year out of warranty and without warning, the transmission started to slip. I was told by the transmission repair shop that the transmission would need to be repaired at a cost of $3000.00. The shop said there is a snap ring in these transmissions that is a common point of failure. I would estimate this is a $20.00 part at best. Why would GM continue to put cars on the market when they know there are issues with them? It appears this issue has been know about since at least 2005 and continues to 2010 based on my internet research. I feel GM has a responsibility to current Saturn owners and should recall these vehicles and make all those that have already failed eligible for restitution. I have been a lifelong GM owner but I have to say this one may be my last. If you are thinking about buying GM, I say stay away from them.

I have a 2006 Saturn ION which is on its third round of problems with the ignition switch. I had the switch replaced in September of 2010 by our local Chevy dealer. It cost me $395.00, and one week later I had to take it back to have it replaced a second time because it locked up. Now, it is now just 20 months later and the same thing has happened again. This time the dealer wants $525 for the same repair with a few more parts. They say the parts warranty is only 12 months or 12,000 miles and there is nothing they can do. GM needs to admit the problem here and make this right. If there is a class-action suit, I am in.

Spoke to Cruz Chevrolet today and he is telling me he thinks it is the automatic shifter causing the problem. My 2007 Saturn Ion recently started having trouble starting. I assumed it was because of the cold weather, then I started smelling gasoline inside and outside my car. I took in the RJ & G Auto Care in Raleigh, North Carolina and they found that I had a crack in my fuel pump on the supply side, meaning it was not something that I did wrong. It was the manufacturer. I dealt with Jerry ** (the manager) and he was very nice and helpful! He checked with Bob ** on whether or not there was a recall on fuel pumps (there were not) and if it was under warranty so it could be replaced for free (which it was). Because RJ & G had to drop my gas tank to find the problem, I was charged $174.74. It was then towed from RJ & G to Bob Murray on Capital Blvd, costing me $85.00. I feel that I should be reimbursed the $259.74 that I had to pay out of pocket for something I did not cause. It is absolutely ridiculous that a 2007 with 53, 580 miles (at time of service) had a crack in the fuel pump! I am so thankful for Jerry who saved me a few hundred dollars but the problem should have never occurred. I asked Jerry if there was anything that I could have done to cause the crack and he said absolutely not. He came to this conclusion based on where the crack was at.

What about my Saturn that is a 2002 SL2? Fortunately, when I took out the key, it was in park while the motor continued to run. I also have trouble getting the ignition to unlock from the column either to put the key in to start and mostly to get it out of the switch. I have to use a screw driver to push a button so I can remove the key. The running of the car just started to happen but I have been dealing with the bad ignition problem for some time.

I have a 2005 Saturn Ion that I bought with 37,000 miles on it. Whenever the temperature is below 30, my car starts when it wants to. When I turn the key in the ignition, my security system light just flashes and wont let me try and start my car again for 10 minutes while it resets itself. It takes anywhere from 10 to 40 minutes to get my car started. I have resorted to putting a bathroom heater inside my car on the driver side floor to warm up the ignition so it will start. I have dealt with this for 2 years and I am buying a new car in a couple of days, because I cant take getting stuck after work for 30 minutes because my security system thinks Im breaking into my car. Ive had numerous problems with my 2005 Saturn Ion since I purchased it barely used in 2008. First, it was an ominous Check Engine light which after spending $400 in unneeded repairs, turned out to be something with the master computer. After I had the ignition replaced, now I cant get the car to start. The dealership cant find anything wrong with it and the mechanic says that its the master computer needs to be replaced. On top of all that, all of the automatic windows died. Had to quit my job because of my health and Im so fed up with all this, I could just scream.

I am now having problems with it again. It needs another replacement and I was told that the warranty on the first transmission was for 12,000 miles or one year so GM will not help with replacement. I started smelling gas in my 2006 Saturn Ion in October of 2016 and took into a local service center to have it checked. They informed me that it was the fuel pump and it needed to be replaced right away. Well in my mind all I was thinking is my car could catch on fire so I agreed and they did the repairs on 11/11/2016 to the tune of $437.79. Later I find out that this was a special coverage recall and that my local dealer would have did the job at no cost to me. I called customer care and explained that I felt like this was an emergency and was not thinking about my local dealership which is 20 miles away. She gave me a case # and told me to get a reimbursement form from dealership and submit the papers and surely they could do something. Well I sent paperwork off in January 2017 and now in March since I have not heard anything I decided to contact them. They informed me that my claim was denied and that my vehicle still has the coverage so if it happens again take it to the dealership. I told her how upset I was and this was awful that I am out off pocket for something that was their fault. My car is 11 years old with 104,050 miles on it and the cap for the coverage is I think 150,000 miles. I would hope that a fuel pump would last longer than a few thousand miles. I have had nothing but problem with this car from the moment I bought it and I agree with everyone else about never owning another GM!!

My 2004 Ion has major issues with the ignition system, even a junk yard part costs 250-300 dollars, and I have to put it in. This is a known manufacturers problem that has not been recalled by GM. I am never going to buy another GM product and I will spend my hard-earned money on a Ford vehicle. I would like to sue GM Corporation for not doing the right thing and repairing/fixing this known manufacturers problem. I, however, have limited funds to do so. Like many of the complaints above, I also had a problem with the ignition lock. I was going out to dinner, parked my car, but when I went to turn off the vehicle, they key wouldnt turn. I called AAA, and the rep who was dispatched asked if it was a Saturn Ion (its a 2007 Ion with about 65K miles on it), which was interesting to me. He said my best bet was just to take it right to the dealership. When I parked it outside the GM dealership and went in to explain the problem, they too asked if it was a Saturn. Clearly this problem is more wide-spread than I thought. Both the AAA rep and the mechanics at the dealership are aware this is an issue with Saturn vehicles. At the end of the day, theyre replacing the Ignition lock cylinder and housing for $540. I called GM/Saturn to file a complaint, seeing as everyone seems to know this is an issue and there are hundreds of documented cases on this site alone. I was told Ill get a call back next week because they are currently updating their system that deals with manufacturer defects/recalls and special considerations given regarding such issues. Im assuming theyll tell me Im SOL, but heres hoping. Ill provide an update when I hear back from them.

I have a 2004 Saturn Ion 2 Quad Coupe. Ive been having problems on and off for years with the ignition. It was sometimes difficult to start, but with a little jiggling of the key and the steering wheel, I always managed to start it. I wish that was the only problem. Yesterday, I drove my car to the supermarket and couldnt turn the car off. I was able to turn the engine off, but the key would not release and the keys position was stuck in the ACC position. My local mechanic told me that I needed to find a GM dealer, so I took it to the closest Buick/GMC dealer in my county. I was told that I needed a new ignition and am dreading to find out the cost tomorrow. I just found out today that there were hundreds of other Saturn owners who experienced the same problem. I wish GM would recall this part.

My 2005 Saturn Vue auto transmission started slipping and banging after about 3 years. I was in fear of a major repair bill. I received a letter in the mail from GM stating that the 2005 Vue transmission was being recalled due to faulty assembly. I was instructed to take the car to the Saturn dealer. If I had already repaired my transmission, I was supposed to submit receipts for reimbursement of repair cost up to $3000. I took it to the dealer and they found the transmission was faulty and was covered under the recall. The dealer installed a new transmission at no cost to me. The limitation was the car had to be 5 years old or less and/or certain amount of mileage. Check the Chevrolet dealer who should be able to research this for you. Hope it helps.

I took my 2006 Saturn Vue to Larry Green dealership for simple diagnosis. 2 hours later, I found out that they ran a compression test with the cover off of my timing belt. The belt slipped and bent the valves. This was the beginning of all my major problems. They kept the car for 2 months trying to correct their mistakes. I got the car back and it was never the same. I took it back 2 times, then I didnt see my car for 3 more months, getting the runaround about parts. There were several mechanics working on my car within those months that are now no longer there. I finally got my car back, after they ruined it telling me to go to another GM dealer to have them fix what they couldnt. This car was a great car with 65,000 miles, not even 5 years old, and I am still paying for it at the tune of $29,000. The body and interior are still like new. I take very good care of my vehicles and I have had a Saturn for 21 years.

I parked a vehicle. I went to turn it off and the key would not turn back to off position, the car would not stop running. I finished to drive home. I tried access to the switch inside the column as pointed out in the drivers manual. Also, I tried turning the wheel back and forth, shifting, etc. as pointed out in the manual. The key would not come out. I disconnected the battery and pulled the fuse on injectors to get it to stop. I took it to the dealer the next morning, after leaving it parked outside, unlocked with keys inside the car and started it by reconnecting the battery and inserting the fuse. The cylinder kit and housing kit were replaced at the dealership and one set of keys were replaced. I was told that both keys would work. I tested them in the dealer lot, neither set worked well in the trunk or the doors, but they both started and stopped the car. The bill came to $701.11. I left the dealership to get lunch, half a mile away, went through drive-thru and then to the office for another half mile away. I parked the car to go inside. The key turned the vehicle off, but would not come out of the ignition. I drove back to the dealership and they rechecked it, apparently sprayed some graphite into the ignition, tested it several times and at this point, works. But I have no confidence in this not happening again. Research on the internet shows hundreds of others that have experienced this problem and no recall to this point. Not even an investigation.

Three months ago, I purchased a used 1995 Saturn sl2 with a manual transmission. The person I bought it from says that she replaced the transmission once already. It has 170,000 miles on it. The past few week, I have heard a light knocking from the transmission. The other day, while going down the highway, the transmission starts slipping badly. I exit and get to a light and the transmission locked up. I couldnt move my car at all, in neutral or any gear. I was less than 1/5 away from my apartment and I had to have it towed home. It cost me $85.00 for less than a 1/5 of a mile because the transmission went out again; twice in 170,000 miles.

I have had to replace the ignition key & tumbler and housing twice in the last 5 years because my key gets stuck in the ignition and the car will not turn off. The last time I did this was in August 2010. Now, it is starting again. When I put my car into park the car will shut off, but it takes me about 10 minutes to get the key out. I have to restart, back-up, pull forward, rinse & repeat. It hasnt reached the point yet to where the car wont turn off but I know it is near in the future since this is how it started the other two times. I really cant afford another $600 to get this fixed again. This is a constant problem yet GM will not issue a recall to help the owners out. I will never ever again buy another GM product. My experience is really bad and I hope that, by writing this review, I would be able to refrain people from buying at SATURN. I wanted to buy a new fridge and the old one to be picked up by SATURN (which is mandatory for law). I did my order by the customer service to be sure that every detail would have been clear and I did explicitly said while ordering that I would have liked the old fridge to be picked up. Eventually I received a confirmation of my order without that specification. For this reason, I called many times to change the order and although the people from the customer service promised me that they would have changed the order, they did not. So at the end I receive the new fridge but the old one hasnt been picked up. Now I am sure that it was a strategy from the beginning not to specify my wish and also what they did afterwards. I think the employees form the customer service are thought to do so. For this reason I wont ever buy at SATURN. I will also dissuade people. Really bad experience!!!!

I have a 2005 Ion Saturn, which I have had problems with the ignition switch on this car since I bought this new. Before, I couldnt get it to start and they fixed that. Now, I cant get the key to come out of the ignition. I have had numerous people look at this. They have checked the fuses, tried the shifting lever, but to no help in getting it out.I have a child that I take to school and I am afraid I wont be able to get her there on time, also to get her home. Why doesnt anyone fix this? I am on low income as I have not been able to work and have no money to stick into this car. This piece of junk has been nothing but a pain since I bought it, which I didnt want to do in the first place but was talked into by an elder salesman saying this would be a good car for me. Ha! What a laugh!

My fiance has a 2002 Saturn SC2 with low mileage (43,891). I just went outside to check the mileage in order to submit this complaint like so many others and now the key will not come out. The motor turns off but will not release the key. Here is the real safety issue. I can pull the shifter from park through all of the gears without stepping on the brake petal! The car is parked on a hill and anyone can pull the shifter and let it roll down the hill! The problem has just recently started to exist since the temperature has gone below about 40 degrees. The car was in like showroom condition when purchased about 3 years ago.

I ransomed my 2005 Saturn Ion this morning from the local Chevy dealers service department. For the second time in less than 18 months, I had to have the ignition lock cylinder, etc. replaced. The problem was identical to others previously listed on this site. The key was stuck in the on position with the car running. I had to disconnect the battery and stall (manual transmission) the engine. In each occurrence, the repair cost well in excess of four hundred dollars. Add the rental car, and the cost approaches a thousand dollars for the two repairs. On a positive note, I see that the dealer used the replacement lock cylinder 20869121 that Frank of Toronto, ON recommended. Although I dont have access to the actual technical service bulletins, I found one listed for Saturn Ion entitled 05-08-49-006 FEB 05 Ignition Switch - Key Hard to Insert/Wont Rotate and another 05-02-35-007A OCT 06 Ignition - Inadvertent Turning of Ignition Lock Cylinder. The cashier this morning said that the problem is related to too much weight on the key ring. I dont think the three keys on my ring qualify. Rather, I think it is the quality of the genuine GM parts.

I took my Saturn into the dealership to be fixed. The brake pedal goes all the way to the floor before stopping. The dealership stated that the car was not safe to drive at all and that the brake booster hose ($33.00 part) needed to be replaced. After 3 full weeks in the dealership without repair, the service department requested we call and see if we could get a part as General Motors was not able to supply the parts to fix the car. I called the parts supplier as I was told by Maria that General Motors did not have the parts for a Saturn and did not have a clue when or if they would.” She made it clear that the parts supplier wont talk to General Motors and vice versa.I asked her what GM was going to do about my predicament. She told me that I should not expect GM to have the parts for the car due to its age (Federal Law mandates parts be available for 10 years post production) and GM would do nothing to help. GM expects me to buy another car.I asked about the 10-year law and how GM was going to handle that. She stated that the part has not been discontinued and that means it is available. That backordered indefinitely leaves them within the scope of the law. I am aware of another person who has waited 14 months for GM to make the part needed for her car.

Now, Im starting to have power steering issues. The power steering was shut off on two separate occasions while driving. The ignition system put me back $750. Luckily both times I wasnt on the open road when the power steering shut off (residential area the 1st time, parking lot the second time), so I was able to maneuver to a stop. Turning the car off and back on made the steering come back...but for how long? I doubt Ill be lucky everytime. Guess I better keep lifting weights until I can get this fixed.

If your daughter almost got killed by a product, you would also be angry. I am embarrassed for GM, especially since I could be considered part of the family. I have owned several Corvettes, a Camaro, several Tahoes, I currently drive a Cadillac, etc. Additionally, my brother in law worked for GM over 40 years and my father in law over 50 years. My daughter lost control of her Saturn while doing nothing wrong, totaled it and almost got killed. That was Thanksgiving weekend. The car got totaled. It was inspected, but GM has been 100 percent non-responsive regarding a car that failed through the fault of no one and they dont care. I am blessed my daughter is still alive. Call me a definite ex GM customer. They should be ashamed.

Horn died, trunk lock had to be replaced, eats tires and sway bars like crazy. Put new brakes every year. Everything rusted underneath. New manifold. Needed catalytic converter twice. Now I just cant put any more funds into this car. Seeking a different vehicle now. Only has 167,000 miles. I drove a 96 Subaru wagon into the ground. It had over 200,000 miles and still ran awesome. It was the body that finally gave out. Disappointed in the many needed repairs. Doesnt shift out of first without struggling either. The clock gains a minute every couple weeks.

I have a 2003 Saturn Ion. I have had several of the common issues with the ignition. The not starting because of the security lock thing and having to wait 10 minutes till it resets and you SHOULD be able to start if your lucky. The key not turning and the key not releasing. I love my car and I have gotten the recall repairs done. I havent had any problems with the car not starting anymore but then again from dealing with the issue so long I cant get out of the habit of half turning till the security light turns off then starting so who knows. Repairs did not fix the key getting stuck, still have to use the manual over ride button in the steering column. And after doing more research I now know its the micro shifter in the gear shifter. So many people have the very same problem that GM really cant ignore the fact that something needs to be done.

I loved my Saturn until now. The first thing that it started doing was the oil pressure light came on saying oil pressure low, turn engine off. I pulled over and turned the engine off, waited a few minutes and turned it back on. Message was gone. Then a couple days later the stabilitrak error message came up saying traction control off service stabilitrak. Engine speed decreasing. Couldnt go above 20 mph. Turned car off. Restarted car error message gone. Then transmission started slipping until it wouldnt go out of 2nd gear. Took the car to the shop and 4000.00 dollars later the transmission was replaced. Now one week later, the stabilitrak message came back on while driving home today and in a curve the steering wheel locked up. This car is horrible. I have never had this many problems out of a car before. Back to the shop where Im sure I will have to break the bank. Again! Saturn needs to make a recall on these cars. How many complaints about the same thing has to be posted before they actually do something about it. Never again. I will tell everyone to avoid buying a GM product.

We have had our 2005 Saturn Ion for three years. Nothing but problems! Two months into owning the car, I was leaving to take my daughter to school and the security light came on and would not let me start my car. It took ten minutes to start. I had the ignition replaced and only two months later, it happened again. I took it in again and they told me they didnt see any problems with it. I took it home and now, we have programmed ourselves to leave the house 10-15 minutes earlier to make sure the car will start. Right now, at this very moment, my car will not start. It has not started at all today, I tried numerous times but nothing. When I turn the key, the security light flashes and the engine light comes on too. The dealership doesnt have any open appointments till Tuesday and now are down to one car. Starting tomorrow, I will get to wake my children up at 4am to take my husband to work in Roseville. Ridiculous! How can a dealership be able to stay in business selling faulty vehicles and never have to recall any of the major, not to mention, extremely dangerous problems? An attorney, class action lawsuit? Enough is enough. Maybe after that, then maybe GM will actually do their job and fix the problems that obviously exist.

A couple months ago, I was driving with my 3 kids in the car when I came to a stop light. Once it turned green, I pushed on the accelerator and nothing happened, except the RPMs revved up high, but I was going maybe 10 mph. I was less than a mile from home, so we made it safely, but when I went to pull in driveway it almost stopped completely and then realized it didnt reverse at all! The next day it was fine. A few months later now, the engine light comes on and off as it pleases, and as we are driving the car will give a jolt and just drop the speed, all while rpms go higher. I am so terrified that we are going to get into an accident!! I cant believe there has been no recall on this when there are literally hundreds of people with this problem! My husband was recently let go at his job so we cannot afford a new transmission, which I hear is costing around $3500!! I have always had Saturns and never had any major problems with the others until this one. Its such a safety issue that with all the recalls that GM is doing, it baffles me that this one hasnt been done yet.

Our Saturn Vue 2006 needs a secondary axle bearing, GM part No. 24460143. Should be simple, right? No! After searching locally and online we called GMs Detroit Headquarters in July, only to be told that they have stopped making this bearing. Their policy is supposedly to continue producing parts at least till the vehicle is 10 years old. The young man we spoke with in July promised to open a case to check into this and get back to us shortly. We waited for 2 MONTHS, with no response. Finally we called back and after about 6 hours of phone calls we were but through to Marie at GM Corporate Headquarters. Explained the problem all over again, waited another week while she looked into the situation, only to be told, sorry about your luck, we dont make that bearing anymore, and that since the problem had been diagnosed by someone other than a GM dealership, they had no responsibility to produce the part. Deduction: General Motors does not stand behind its products, will only consider General Motors Dealership mechanics as qualified to diagnose problems on their vehicles!!!

Ive had this car now for about 9 mos. Its been a pretty good car until the last 2 weeks. The a/c was the 1st to go out (when I 1st got it). I had everything replaced, then about 2 mos. later, the a/c went out again. So, 2 weeks ago, the stereo stopped playing, it says to check the wiring. In the past week, all these new things started. I now smell gas fumes, when we hit the door locks, the headlights go out and back on. Last night, I put the car in reverse, and the lights went out and back on. Sometimes, when I put it in reverse, the gas gauge drops from 1/2 tank to empty. Other times, after refueling, I leave the pump with the empty gas light on. I make sure the gas cap is on tight before I leave the station. Two days now, the security light comes on, so today, I replaced the battery in the wireless remote, and stopped @ Autozone to have the cars battery checked & it is fine. A few months ago, I was having a problem with the car stalling out when I backed up, but after hearing about the ignition switch recall & GM, I tried something that works. I took the key off my keyring. There are no other keys on it, the added weight of a few other keys, was messing with the ignition switch. Im pretty sure my problem is with some loose wiring, I read that with the Saturn, the a/c condenser hose pops off, and read theres no hope for the gas smell. I just pray the car doesnt go up in flames. Oh, and have had a few problems with the tail lights too. And a few weeks ago, I couldnt get the trunk lock to catch after checking the problem with the brake/tall-light problem. I didnt know until today that Saturn is a GM product, cause I promise you had I known, I would never have bought it. Ford held their own, GM bailed out.

Third repair is for a bad celluloid and a bad fuel pressure sensor; cost is $675. I also have the problem with the steering wheel. I’m just waiting for that one to go next.$12,000 plus $4,000 plus $200 plus $675 for a total of $16,875. That’s the cost for a 2007 Saturn Aura with 65,000 miles on it and no warranty. I hate you GM. We have a 2003 Saturn L200. We have noticed a gas smell for several weeks now and had it checked out and found out it has a manufactured defect in the fuel pump. There have been several complaints and Saturn has not dealt with this issue. I went online and there were a lot of complaints about this issue. I want something done about this. We are spending hundreds of dollars replacing this and I am not the only one going through this. It started in the 2002 model and has continued on to the 2003 model and Saturn does know about this.

Saturn 200 VUE, Bad Transmission Chain - My CBT transmission chain belt went out, after only a couple of years! The car has been sitting in my drive way (not drivable) for the last 2 years! I have been awaiting a recall! I cannot believe with all the issues viewed here, still no recall has been done. Disgraceful!

I, too, will add a complaint about my key getting stuck and my car not shutting off. Also, it often won’t start for 10 to 30 minutes randomly. I live in the desert and have been stuck with my 2 small toddlers in the heat with a car that just wont start. The vehicle says, “Service engine.” And having serviced it, it still happens. This ignition switch problem is a huge safety issue and needs to be recalled. If I end up in a dangerous situation and cant flee because my car won’t start, that’s a problem. I have another baby on the way and I don’t even feel comfortable taking my kids with me in this car because I fear being stranded in the heat with them. Though it eventually works, babies can get heat stroke and so can I, sitting in or out of the car while we wait. When it was diagnosed, I have been told nothing seems to be wrong. In contacting GM, there haven’t been enough complaints to warrant a recall. I am reporting this as a safety issue and will also be contacting the NTSA.

I bought a Saturn Ion 3 years ago. At 93,000 miles, the timing chain jumped its track and now the car cannot run. The dealer I bought it from and the GM dealer said it will cost $2500.00 to fix. GM and the dealers will not help me with financing. The dealer I got it from will sell me another car but at a steeper payment to cover the difference. I bought this car used. I cant default without serious consequences. The car is a 2007. I need to know if anyone else has had this problem with Saturn Ions from 2006 to now.

My wife has a 05 Saturn Vue, the engine blew up whilst driving home from work. No check engine light, no warning at all. The car lost power steering but luckily no accident. I called GM customer service and told them what happened and they said car needed to go to a dealer to be looked at... They arranged for it to be taken to local dealer. The dealer said engine was gone. I called GM back and asked them what they were planning to do and was told they would do nothing again. I explained that it could have killed my wife and that surely there should have been a warning of some description...I was passed around from person to person sitting on hold for 37 mins to speak to a supervisor. When he got on the phone he muttered something and transferred me again. So I called the headquarters in Detroit and got pretty much the same response. I now have a car that will cost more to repair than its worth. I even had to fight them to get my car towed back to my house (there was more bad cust service but too much to mention). So this bears as much as a warning to all Saturn drivers. BE CAREFUL, THEY BLOW UP WITHOUT WARNING AND GM DONT CARE!!!!!

We have a 2008 Saturn Aura, it has 80 thousand miles. One day, the wife was driving it. It made a noise and bam, the car died. I talk to some people and they said it was the timing chain. So we took in to get looked at and the garage said they took off one of the valve covers off, and all the valves were broke in half. Its going to cost a lot of money. This stinks.

It was the second time the key locked, and I was unable to remove it. The first time it happened at 9,000 miles; I was over one hour from home, and drove back home. I pulled the fuse, and it was towed to the dealer. It was under warranty, and the ignition replaced. The second time it happened it was at 37,000 miles. I was in the parking lot for doctor’s appointment when it happened. I missed the appointment. I drove to the dealer, and they replaced the ignition. I paid for labor only, but am going to ask GM to pay for that too. It was very stressful and scary. The comments are that this is a defective part.

I too have a 1999 Saturn, and my son was driving and it started to jerk. He had to pull over on the side of the road and found that the car would not go into any gears. He had no neutral on it. I had the car towed to a local garage, and the mechanic said it was a transmission problem. I had to have it towed to a transmission shop where they said it would be anywhere from $900 to $1500 to fix it. Now I am reading about all these other customers that have a Saturn, and it is bound to happen again. I think Saturn should have a recall to replace these faulty transmissions. I always thought Saturn was respectable company, but now, I just dont know.

Like so many others here, my key often gets sucked in the ignition of my 2004 Saturn Ion and either a) wont start for 15 minutes, or b) wont release after I try to turn the car off. Twice, the ignition turned off while I was driving down the freeway. Today, I had the added fun of the key locking in the ACC position and it wont turn off. I had to remove a fuse to turn the engine off. I have replaced the ignition column (I believe it is what my mechanic called it) as the key was already getting stuck and would not release the key unless I waited several minutes and would not start for 15 to 20 minutes much of the time. That was about 8 months ago. Clearly this did not help much. I cannot emphasize enough what a piece of garbage this car is. I will never own another GM car as a direct result of my experience with it. I have poured an insane amount of money into it to correct a wide variety of defects but I am done. It isnt worth repairing one more time. It is too bad that American made equals garbage.

Christmas Day 2014 will go down as a bummer day. Car had just passed 100,600 miles just in the past few days. Well, Christmas Morning my 2008 Aura XE V6, which had never really given me any problems with the exception of some minor problems with all the door lock and some other minor problems, decided to have transmission problems and stopped working. I was driving and all of a sudden found a strange noise and immediately parked the car. I at least made it to my brothers house and was able unloaded the Christmas presents. But when I tried to back up the transmission would not function, any gear I put it in, and it did not work. Eventually I was able to get assistance from family, and was able to get it into neutral and push the car down the driveway. At this point no engine light had come on or any warning of a problem at all. The car would not change gears normally. I then was able to park the car for a bit and then find someone to follow me to the dealer in Southern California. The Authorized Saturn Service Provider I have taken the car to for years. They called me back two days later and came back with a $3800 price tag for a new transmission replacement option. I was given by my brother a note that he had read of a recall on a Saturn Cabling problem with a transmission, but when I put my VIN number on the GM Site to check for recalls it did not appear. Well, my alternatives are slim to none, when it comes to the replacement as I have investigated other places to do the work and they tell me that there is a part that needs replacing and it alone is $1200.00 all by itself. I have always been a strong supporter of Saturn products in the past. Have had 3 Saturn vehicles over the years and have held them for at least 4-5 years each. This one was a doozy. I just want to let anyone out their know that if you have similar problems it is a costly one and probably not worth fixing. I plan on seeing if there are any other remedies I can pursue with whatever agency regulates car mfg. A very disappointed Saturn owner. Also, I cant believe this was not a safety concern for V6 vehicles.

We have a 2006 Saturn Ion which has been involved in front end accidents twice. Neither time have the airbags deployed. The mechanic stated that the pins that activate deployment were fully depressed and the bags should have deployed. My son could have been killed. After the first accident, I contacted on-star to ask why they hadnt communicated with the car after the accident and why the air bags had not deployed. The answer was that maybe the sensor wasnt hit! Are you kidding me? The whole front end of the car is pushed halfway to the windshield! This matter should be looked into. Someone could easily be killed due to these malfunctions.

I have a 2003 Saturn Ion and just spent $649 to have the ignition switch replaced. The light would constantly come on and the key would get stuck and it would lock up on me. This has been going on for about 2 years. It stopped for about a year and then about 2 weeks ago it started up again. When I took it in for repair, I had to go to the dealer. I found out this happens to most Ions. This is unacceptable. And he said he would not be surprised if I am back in 6 months. What can be done if anything? This just does not seem right, other than selling my car. But I cannot afford a new one. Please help!

2007 Ion key problem - Ever since I brought my car in for power steering recall, I have had a problem with getting the key out. I brought it back three times. They replaced something in the shifter, then claimed I wasnt putting it all the way in park. Really? They replaced the ignition switch and the keys. I still have a problem. I find if I have my steering wheel turned just right, it relieves pressure and I can get it out. You can often see me moving from parking spot to parking spot trying to get my wheel just right. Another Saturn owner told me there is a button release under the steering wheel behind a trap door that I can press to release the key. I have yet to do that. I am not a happy camper.

My transmission went out in my Saturn Vue on February 14, 2012. It did not give me a warning or anything; it just went out while I was driving. I looked up the info about the transmission and contacted both CarMax and GM about this due to the fact that I purchased the car in June 2009. After a month of back and forth with GM and no one wanting to take blame, I was told that though I have the faulty transmission, I am not covered under the warranty because it would have had to go out before March 2011 and I was 2000 miles over the warranty (100,000 miles). I explained to them that the average car comes with the same warranty and I cannot tell my transmission when it needs to go out. GM refused to help pay for a new transmission and refused to give me a credit towards a new car, though they said they were or take responsibility. I am a single mom with 4 kids, and though it is not their fault I am single or have 4 kids, it lets me know they do not care about the consumers. I need transportation to get them back and forth to school and me to work. I have no car and rely on someone to take me to work and take my kids to school, or I am forced to use public transportation to get where we need to go. I have no idea what to do at this point, and I do not have the money for a new car, new transmission; nothing. I just wanted GM to fix the darn car or give me a credit towards a new one without having to take care of the negative equity or putting money down. I am just frustrated. I need to know what to do to resolve this issue,

I fell in love with the Saturn VUEs when they first came out with them in 2000. I wanted one so bad. In 2002, I was in an accident in my 1995 Saturn Sedan with a tractor trailer. After 2 years of lawyers fees, I had enough settlement left over to buy a 2003 Saturn VUE. It was exactly what I was looking for, the color & all. I didnt care about the size of the motor. I was excited to be able to buy the car I wanted. Last year, I started hearing a noise coming from the motor that turned out to be the timing chain. Just recently, I had to take it off the road to keep it from blowing the motor. The 1995 Saturn was just taken off the road a couple weeks before with shot piston rings after 135k miles. We are now down to borrowing my father-in-laws truck, leaving us with no vehicle for me to take my kids to their doctors appointment while my husband is at work. I have to drum up $700.00 to replace a timing chain that Saturn knew had problems way back when.I understand that Saturn is out of business, but they are still repaired by GM parts. With all the complaints that I have been reading, you would think that GM would figure out in the long run that it would probably be cheaper to fix the problems rather than wait for the government to finally force a law suit causing more money to be paid out.I still love my Saturn VUE even though the transmission will most likely go out yet. But I have had this car for 6.5 years now & this is the first major problem I have had with it. Many others of you have had major problems from the start. I just want mine fixed. I just dont feel I should be responsible to pay for the problem GM knew was there.

I wanted to reply to Patricia of Signal Mountain, TN on June 25, 2014 specifically. Unfortunately the dealer and auto body shop you visited seem to be unaware of this particular issue that has affected many saturn customers. I bought a 2003 saturn ion brand new and 6 months later had my first issue with the car not starting. It wasnt a dead battery, or any other issue. It just would not start. I could go try again an hour later and the car would start. My ignition switch was replaced twice under warranty and it needs to be fixed again. The problem is something in the faulty wiring that trips a security message in the computer of the car that will not allow it to start. I recommend that you look it up online (google, youtube, saturnfans.com). There are countless pages dedicated to the exact issue your daughter is having. When you get a grasp of what the issue is, speak to a trusted mechanic. Let him know what you found out and I am sure they will be able to help. The solution is often as easy as a $25 ignition switch replacement.

My 2003 VUE (3.0) hit the 100K threshold a few months back. I noticed increasing delay in starting, so decided to change out plugs with iridium ones. Ran great following new plug job. Shortly thereafter, I noticed a few trouble codes causing my Check Engine light to come on. First was for Cam Shaft Position Sensor, and second was for low temp sensor. After ruling out fuses, faulty connectors, etc., I decided to replace the Cam Sensor (easy), and thermostat (especially since it had never been done). When I finally finished the job, the car wouldnt start (turned over though). I pulled my hair out for weeks looking for reason for not starting. Had mobile mechanic come out, and could only tell me it sounded like compression loss and/or timing problem. Finally had it towed to shop. Their diagnosis was a skipped timing belt (4 teeth), which caused a few valves to bend etc, etc... Now I am looking at $3000 to $3500 to fix the problem (I hope). I replaced the water pump and timing belt a few ago and drove it without a problem until what I thought was routing thermostat replacement - boy was I wrong. The cost to repair is about $2K less than getting a rebuilt engine, but is still at that grey point between getting work done or not. The optimist in me is hoping for another 100K miles after all is said and done. Not too happy with GM at the moment. Parts cost an arm and leg since Saturn is no longer produced. Hope it works out in the end.

I reached out to GM today after my second door jam mechanism failed and I see over 900 complaints lodged as such in this models year (2006 VUE). Despite the obvious safety issue I was told I was on my own. The door(s) eventually will not close as the jam mechanism fails so the door is subject to swinging open while the vehicle is in use. This is not an inexpensive fix and must be taken to a body shop. I will need all 4 door mechanisms replaced as I will not risk the other two failing as well.
