Same as most of you, my key got stuck in the on position, and would not come out. We asked a mechanic friend who said: Disconnect the ignition fuse (its a tiny red fuse marked #10); if you are going to be out of your car for very long, go ahead and disconnect the battery as well. Weve been driving our car like this for 2 months now, as we cannot afford a new ignition. This will get really inconvenient during rainy season. Please, Saturn...someone, anyone....Recall this so we can all get our cars fixed and get on with it! Please!

We have had numerous problems with our 2006 Saturn Vue, which all started with having to roll over extra payments from a 2005 Vue that we had multiple problems with. The first major issue we had was the torque converter, where they said they could never recreate the incident so couldnt help us.They finally replaced it (before the recall came out) and at that time, they also replaced the ignition because of the problems we were having trying to turn the key to start the car. We’re unsure if they actually replaced it or not. Now, we are once again having ignition problems and we are out of warranty. The GM dealership wants to charge me $80 for the ignition tumbler and $60 per key to recode them. That is with me installing it by the way.

I own a 2006 Saturn Ion 2, original owner. I will say I did not have any major issues with my car until I got home, tried to turn off my car when the ignition would not turn leaving the car running. After several attempts, the key just came out with the ignition still running. I realized nothing would work, so I stalled the car, unplugged the battery and had it towed to a Saturn dealership. They supposedly replaced my ignition for $480 plus $140 for the tow. They said its been a common problem with this year, make, model and mileage but they havent recalled it yet. I truly hope that if enough people complain about it, they will issue the recall and we can all get reimbursed for our hard-earned money.

I purchased a 2001 Saturn L series new in 2001. After only 5 years and 75,000 miles, the transmission needed to be replaced. Maybe Im one of the lucky ones (as evidenced in this thread. ) One re-built transmission later, Im back in for yet another re-built transmission. I guess I should consider myself lucky. I got as much use out of the rebuilt, as I did the original.Third times a charm, right? What is it about these transmissions? I should have known better than to have purchased another Saturn, considering the fact there were problems with my first one in 1995 (after only a couple of months). What was I thinking, right? Ever think some of these issues has anything to do with the fact that Saturn is no longer around?

I bought a 2008 vue 9/13/2013 and after a week I drove it from purchasing it from sellers renew the sensor lights went on. Sellers never inspected the car and put it on the lot from an auction and sold it to me! I have had it in the shop more times I have drove it. I mean it was in the shop for two months due to warranty issues and car kept breaking down. I have Took it in and told me the accel pedal sensor needed fixed that cost me 350.00, then one thing after another the control module is bad, the alternator has been replaced three times within a year, also a new transmission, evap code keeps coming up when we diagnose it, the whole computer system is shutting down and this is a Saturn. Issue should not be a consumer problem when the vehicle is dangerous to drive. Im not getting anywhere with Saturn, all these issues I have with my car and no dealer will take the car back or can even fix the car right. I pay out and another sensor issue or transmission issue. I had also experienced three times when Im driving at high speeds, the steering wheel will lock up and car will completely shut down. I have mechanic Invoices from day one and its a stack long, so more times being repaired than I drove it. But dealership says no codes come up and cant figure it and in the meantime, Im paying for a car that sits in my garage cause no one will buy it or trade it in is impossible, and literally had the car a month and all problems occurred. This should be a saturn issue to refund us and take their crappy car back and we should not be out of pocket. I have numerous bills from dealerships and this is a saturn issue, not a consumer problem when the car is dangerous to drive! Also the warranty they make you purchase with credit acceptance does not cover these issues when this is a default on behalf of saturn.

My transmission on my 2004 Saturn ION is dead! With the cost to have it replaced, I decided to do internet homework. I cant believe all the complaints! I find it difficult. With these complaints, GM should recall their product, not turn their backs on their customers. I called GM and they said they may offer a GM credit between $1,000.00 and $5,000.00. If they cant do a recall, do you think they will give a $5,000.00 GM credit? And why would I buy another GM product? Is there a class action lawsuit out there? Thanks GM, for the situation you put me in!

Reading reviews I see its a common trans problem. I have it at the shop now. They cant find anything wrong. The trans place couldnt find a problem either. It happens intermittent. Now back to the transmission shop again. Im clearly expecting a 4k bill.

I have a 2003 Saturn Ion. I have had several of the common issues with the ignition. The not starting because of the security lock thing and having to wait 10 minutes till it resets and you SHOULD be able to start if your lucky. The key not turning and the key not releasing. I love my car and I have gotten the recall repairs done. I havent had any problems with the car not starting anymore but then again from dealing with the issue so long I cant get out of the habit of half turning till the security light turns off then starting so who knows. Repairs did not fix the key getting stuck, still have to use the manual over ride button in the steering column. And after doing more research I now know its the micro shifter in the gear shifter. So many people have the very same problem that GM really cant ignore the fact that something needs to be done.

My 2006 Saturn Ion began having starting problems locking up. I took my car in due to one of the recalls on this model in hopes this problem would be resolved once and for all. The service department said the locking up problem was not part of the recall and that I needed a new battery or a new starter. I told him that I had already had both of these replaced and the problem was still ongoing. Again he said this had nothing to do with the recall. They supposedly repaired my car and now it is totally locked up and will not start. WORST SERVICE EVER!! WORST VEHICLE EVER!!

I chose this Saturn Ion due to cost and availability at the time. I was not familiar this brand of vehicle before purchasing. But the size of the car and the cost was what I needed. Plus the vehicle was very good on gas mileage. But I did not like the car. Disliked the battery compartment in the trunk. I did not like that most of the parts where cheap plastic that wasnt durable. And I ended up having a lot of problems with the wiring system and also the headlights. As soon as I would replace the bulbs, within a few days they would stop working on the passenger side.

I bought a 2007 Saturn Ion Red Line edition car from Capital Auto Mall, on the Ford side of the building. Moments after driving the car off the dealership lot, the engine broke down resulting in a new engine being required. From that moment on there was nothing but problems with the company and very poor customer service - being ignored, phone calls not returned, questions not being answered etc.Capital did agree to replace the engine in the car. I had requested my warranty that I paid almost $3000 for to cover the repairs, and Capital refused my request and insisted they cover all the costs of the new engine, because they didnt want to blemish my warranty. They wanted to replace the engine with a used engine, with higher mileage than the original. The car only has 92,000 km. and the engine had 120,000 km. Thats at least 2 years of driving lost on that engine. I told Capital, No, I do not want that engine in my car, and I requested again that my warranty cover the cost of a new engine and, yet again, they refused, went ahead and installed the used engine anyways in their quick lane service. After that moment, I told them that I no longer want the car (this was just days after signing the papers) and I asked if they would just return the car and drop the loan. All they said was, No, you are committed to the loan. So I said, Okay, put me into a different car. They said, Sure, no problem. I took all my financing papers, everything I got for the car. Next day, they called me stating they could not get me into a different car, and that I was stuck with the Saturn and they did not return my paperwork. I asked several times to get my paperwork back and they keep saying, Yeah, yeah, we will find it and get it back to you. Still, no paperwork has been returned. The car sat outside their shop for 3 weeks before they even thought about installing this used engine. I called 2-4 times a week, and every time I talked to them, it was, Yeah, the car is coming into the shop tomorrow, but yet it never did, until I got real mad and personally went in there and complained. Finally, the car went in the shop.A couple of days went by with no word on the car, so I called probably 5-6 times and didnt get a phone call back. Finally, on the last try, someone answered the phone, and said they couldnt figure out what their tech did wrong installing the engine. It ran horrible; they checked the engine light. It was running lean. A couple more days went by. They asked me to come in to talk about the car, so I went in, and they explained to me how the warranty I paid $3000 for was voided by them due to not doing a mechanical inspection prior to selling the car, and that they would have to refund the $3000, and made me sign a paper stating this would happen. After signing, they gave me the keys and told me to have a nice day.At this point, the car was not back to its original condition. It had a slight exhaust leak under the hood; the check engine light was still on. Driving down the road, the whole front end of the car knocked and banged. I asked Capital to pull the car in the shop and check the subframe bolts but they refused and told me, Thats not going to happen. So I then took it to my own work, lifted the car up with a jack and checked the bolts myself. All the subframe bolts were loose as well as both front ball joint bolts, and every motor mount bolt was loose. The next day, I called Capital and asked them if it was a journey man tech that worked on my car. They had said yes, so I asked if I could see his papers and they replied, No. They had that subframe let go on the highway. It could have killed me and my brand new baby that was just born on January 27th, 2013, who I have in my car almost daily.I had given up on Capital and fixed the car myself. I fixed the check engine light, running issue exhaust leak, and tightened all those bolts. Two weeks later, I noticed blue smoke from the tail pipe. I contacted Capital about the warranty on the engine, and they said it would cover any and all repairs for 101 days as per SGI Auto Salvage warranty (engine was supplied by SGI Salvage). Basically every day I contacted Capital about the second replacement engine. They kept telling me they were looking for a new engine for about a week and half. Finally, they gave up looking for an engine told me that SGI themselves wanted to see what was wrong with the engine, and that if it was non-repairable, they would refund me the cost of the engine, and Capital stated they would find a different engine on their own or give me to money to locate one myself. I agreed to this, so I took the car to SGI.The next day, SGI contacted me telling me that there was no warranty on the engine due to it being heavily modified and sent me on my way. I then went right down to Capital Auto Mall, spoke to the quick lane manager and he told me basically that if SGI wont cover the engine, it was not their problem and there was nothing they could or would do for me. How is this fair to me? I didnt mod the car ... how the car sits is how it was bought from Capital. They reinstalled these parts without telling me about them. So now, basically, I was paying $15,000 for a piece of steel in my backyard that doesnt run or move and I have to pay for any and all repairs. This is why I bought that warranty for $3000 - to prevent this. It is not my fault they didnt do their job, nor have they even paid that $3000 back to me. I also paid for a propack auto service which cost close to $1000, and that service has yet to be performed. I have asked at least 15 times to get it done, and they keep telling me, Okay, okay, I will book it in and call you back. They never do call back. I even asked for a refund on the service seeing as they wont do it and got told no, that it wouldnt happen, like really!? I paid for it.It has been a complete gong show mess; I do not want this car anymore. It has been nothing but a headache and now they just straight up dont care. They wont help, wont cover any of their own work. Its complete BS. What can I do about this? Im sure I can supply more details, but for now these are the basics.

I too have a 1999 Saturn, and my son was driving and it started to jerk. He had to pull over on the side of the road and found that the car would not go into any gears. He had no neutral on it. I had the car towed to a local garage, and the mechanic said it was a transmission problem. I had to have it towed to a transmission shop where they said it would be anywhere from $900 to $1500 to fix it. Now I am reading about all these other customers that have a Saturn, and it is bound to happen again. I think Saturn should have a recall to replace these faulty transmissions. I always thought Saturn was respectable company, but now, I just dont know.

They have checked the fuses, tried the shifting lever, but to no help in getting it out.I have a child that I take to school and I am afraid I wont be able to get her there on time, also to get her home. Why doesnt anyone fix this? I am on low income as I have not been able to work and have no money to stick into this car. 2005 Saturn Ion 2: Along with my ignition switch failing, my power steering regularly going out while driving down the freeway, and my driver-side window not working, my key is now stuck in the on position with the car running. I popped the clutch to turn it off and disconnected the battery. I ordered a new ignition cylinder and plan to replace when it arrives. I agree with the majority of the community that there are far too many problems with particular parts for a recall not to be made. Im elated for the day I can rid myself of this car. Its been nothing but continual problems. My Honda on the other hand has nearly the same miles and not one problem in 5 years.

I took my vehicle to a local auto shop and got the ignition lock cylinder replaced, OEM part 20869121. It was coded to accept my original key (no switch out). Total cost was $178. Time: 30 minutes of labor can take up to an 1 hour. To turn off my car when the incident occurred, I pulled four of the main switch plugs, two 30s and two 40s. They can be found under the hood. A black lid covers this area marked with a round red cap. The switches are easy to pull out and put back in. They help you avoid wearing down the battery or having to deal with it at all. I hope this helps.

I think Im going to kill myself from the financial downfall that this car has put me in. I owned it for 8 months (February 2011) and bought for $12,000. The first repair was rebuilding the transmission at $4000. Second repair was at $200 and it was for the battery that’s draining for no good reason. Third repair is for a bad celluloid and a bad fuel pressure sensor; cost is $675. I also have the problem with the steering wheel. I’m just waiting for that one to go next.$12,000 plus $4,000 plus $200 plus $675 for a total of $16,875. That’s the cost for a 2007 Saturn Aura with 65,000 miles on it and no warranty. I hate you GM. I have been complaining about an issue with my 2003 Saturn for just over 3 years. Each time I contacted GM they said that this issue was not a problem in Canada. I found numerous writings on the internet of owners having the same issue. Recently I was driving along when a warning sound came on and my message center lit up with the message PWR STR, the service engine warning light also became illuminated. This time I had a passenger in my car who witnessed how the car was a challenge for me to control and manage. I contacted 3 or 4 GM dealerships presented them with the letter of awareness I received from GM advising that I may experience this issue with my car, I was told they are not aware of the Power Steering issue and that I would need to pay for any repairs. I finally contacted GM and was told to take my car to a dealership and pay to have a diagnostic test completed and if it revealed that there was an issue with the Power Steering I would not have to pay the charge for the diagnostic test. As most people who have posted their complaint online have indicated that they have paid out large sums of money for repairs that did not resolve the issue. I was told by the dealership today November 14, 2011 that I needed to replace the Transmission Control Module @ a cost of $999.50 plus installation charge of $230.00 for a total of $1,413.93. I am posting this as I want to make sure that there is a public record should I be killed or left with injuries so severe that I cannot communicate, at least my family would be aware that this car was defective and GM did not make the necessary repairs.

For the third time/third year in a row, I am having ignition switch problem
For the third time/third year in a row, I am having ignition switch problems with my 2006 Saturn Ion. I purchased my vehicle brand-new in 2006. I loved the car. But in 2010, my vehicle would not shut off. I took the vehicle to a crappy GM dealer that took 3 months to fix the problem. I paid $300 to get the ignition chamber switched out. In 2011, I had another problem. I couldnt take the key out of the ignition. Luckily, since it was within one year, they fixed the problem under parts warranty. Now, 4/11/2012, I couldnt turn my vehicle off again and was late to work trying to remove the key. I had to leave the car running, and my husband drove to my job, got in the car, drove it home, and had to remove wiring to shut it off. I called Saturn Customer Care and have to take the vehicle into the nearest dealership. I have to pay for the diagnostic, and so on and so forth. I am upset. This is ridiculous. Once this problem is fixed, I am trading in my vehicle; someone else can deal with this problem. I want to know if I can sue. I will even settle for them just buying the car back from me, so I can buy a new car. I just cant deal with the headaches, time, and money anymore. Anyone with these issues, I suggest calling Saturn Customer Care at 1-800-553-6000. You shouldnt have to pay out of pocket.

I had a 122,000 when I purchase. I had my 2007 Saturn ion 2 for 7 months. The only problems I had was the air bags on and the recall that is on the Saturn. But Saturn is a good brands. Just about every car had a problem or a recall.

2007 Ion key problem - Ever since I brought my car in for power steering recall, I have had a problem with getting the key out. I brought it back three times. They replaced something in the shifter, then claimed I wasnt putting it all the way in park. Really? They replaced the ignition switch and the keys. I still have a problem. I find if I have my steering wheel turned just right, it relieves pressure and I can get it out. You can often see me moving from parking spot to parking spot trying to get my wheel just right. Another Saturn owner told me there is a button release under the steering wheel behind a trap door that I can press to release the key. I have yet to do that. I am not a happy camper.

My sister and I have figured out that if you take your time to push up and to the right, about the 10th attempt it turns to the right and starts... SUPER ANNOYING! Reading these other reviews makes me want to quickly trade it in! So sad because I have loved not having a payment! :(

On 5/30/13, I was driving home from work and turning a corner when the power steering light came on in my car. A chime went off and the message PWR STR appeared. My car then died; the wheel and brakes locked. I thought I was going to hit this mom with her two kids. I panicked and grabbed the emergency brake; jumped a curb. I had my car towed to a local shop by my house completely unaware that ** GM/Saturn is aware of the powering steering failure issue and REFUSES TO ISSUE A RECALL! $1,000 later and NO help from GM, I have no money to feed my family, missed work and almost lost my job. I am terrified beyond words to drive this **. When this happened, it had 24,698 miles on it. NEVER EVER BUY this car. Thank God they are out of business. Im hopefully getting a new car - NON-GM next week because driving any Saturn (or any GM made car from what Ive read) is a death sentence. I also plan on suing GM and contacting every NY news station I can think of and reporting this issue to every single possible place I can - BBB, NJ Lemon Law Unit, NHTSA, etc. LIVES NEED TO BE SAVED.

I have a 2006 Saturn ION which is on its third round of problems with the ignition switch. I had the switch replaced in September of 2010 by our local Chevy dealer. It cost me $395.00, and one week later I had to take it back to have it replaced a second time because it locked up. Now, it is now just 20 months later and the same thing has happened again. This time the dealer wants $525 for the same repair with a few more parts. They say the parts warranty is only 12 months or 12,000 miles and there is nothing they can do. GM needs to admit the problem here and make this right. If there is a class-action suit, I am in.

Over the last two months, I have had some problems when I would turn my car off and the key would not disengage after. I fooled with it and the key would disengage. Was driving to work on 6/13 13 in the morning; I was running along at 65 when I heard a slight click noise. At the same time, the engine and the gauges cut off. The radio was still working. I coasted off-road, turned the key again, and the car started right up. Never had that happen.Got to work and went out four hours later to start the car. It started right up, but I could not turn it off. I tried everything I knew. I took it to a local shop, and they replaced the broken parts in the steering column for the ignition key and the switch assembly. Total cost was $598.00. Does anyone know if there was a silent recall for that issue that they are not telling people? I would like to know.

I have a 2004 Saturn Ion. I have had several of the common issues with the ignition. Not shutting off and ending up with a dead battery stranded. The key not turning and the key not releasing. I had the ignition switch replaced during the recall. As soon as I went to pick up the car I knew it wasnt corrected. The key did not shut off the engine. How did the mechanic not know that there was still a problem? So I went back into Fergusons GMC and informed the service desk. The guy was rude and nasty, treated me like I didnt know what I was talking about. I was so disgusted with it that I left. I am still battling this problem, and dont understand why this can not be addressed properly. All the peacocks on capital hill know that this is an issue, they know it has cost several folks their lives, and they know that not one consumer is being treated fairly. It all comes down to whos pocket is being lined the most and its not the consumer!

I bought my 2003 Saturn L200 in July of 2009 with only 31,000 miles on it. It was great for two years, until the Summer of 2011 when the odometer started spinning out of control. It added 50,000+ miles on it in a short time. It costs $1400 to fix the BCM (body control module) and took a month to fix. The dealer had to backorder the part. Now, my fuel pump has died repeatedly, leaving me stranded multiple times. The fuel pump at OReilly Auto Parts costs $350 and this was the cheapest price by far. Its currently at the mechanic for the third time and he is stumped. After the car died the second time, we figured we got a bad fuel pump. But somehow it is not getting power to the fuel pump. I was promised the GM would continue to uphold Saturns level of service. All Ive seen are expensive parts and time-consuming repairs. I will never buy a GM product again.

I own a 2005 Saturn Ion. I love this car but the ignition lock issue is a big concern. I have been battling this ignition lock for years. I took it twice to the Saturn dealer in 2007. They first said it was the ignition cylinder and then they said it was the ignition switch. It was neither. Fortunately, my warranty covered the service. There is a sensor in the shifter that indicates that the car is in park. Through my trials and errors, if you are parked on a flat angle, inclined or declined, the shifter is not allowed to engage fully into the park position and your key will remain locked up. A huge pain and I have sent my complaint to the FTC but have not heard anything. Dont bother taking it in anymore. Start the vehicle, shift it out of gear and put it back in park. Shut off the vehicle or move the car to a different parking spot (flat, inclined or declined). To know if its engaged or not, you will hear a clicking sound coming from the steering column once you have pressed the brake and put it into park. What a pain and a serious hazard!

It is also a safety issue when you have no idea when its suddenly going to break!

Two days later, as I was driving, my power steering light came on and started beeping and my steering wheel got stiff! Just today, I was driving and my steering wheel froze on me! So I had to again stop the car to turn it off and I started up the car again! I took it in and they couldnt find anything wrong with it! I am posting this as an insurance to make Saturn liable if anything happens to me while driving and this steering wheel freezes up on me and I’m in an accident due to this problem!!! There seems to be a lot of problems in regards to the power steering. But my vehicle freezes up on the steering column and I’m not able to move the steering wheel to move out of the road! Please help! I myself wanted to change the power steering, but if it’s not showing up on the computer code as a defect. Why do it?

After many complaints about the steering issues with my 2008 Saturn Outlook
After many complaints about the steering issues with my 2008 Saturn Outlook, I am finally resolved to never purchase another GM product. Beginning around 60,000 miles, I began mentioning the popping sound in my steering column. Unfortunately, I did not insist the service department to document and pursue a resolution to the problem. I was told on every occasion that this was normal until the vehicle warmed up. The noise did seem to quiet somewhat, so I thought their assessment had some merit. I was just told this week that this issue would indeed worsen and my repair cost is approximately $1,300. This is in addition to my heater and A/C unit being completely overhauled to the sum of close to $600. I have already replaced both the skylight and sunroof at a significant cost. All these issues happened prior to 100,000 miles.I contacted GM customer service/Calvin to request assistance and was given no consideration at all, even with the internet full of TSBs and complaints about these exact problems on this vehicle. After this experience, I am completely disgusted with the pride in workmanship of this GM product and have a much better understanding of why GM should be out of business today. Unfortunately, we the taxpayers will get to continue carrying this burden for many more years to come. My total loss including glass, heat/AC and steering column is listed below. Never again!

I took my 2006 Saturn Vue to Larry Green dealership for simple diagnosis. 2 hours later, I found out that they ran a compression test with the cover off of my timing belt. The belt slipped and bent the valves. This was the beginning of all my major problems. They kept the car for 2 months trying to correct their mistakes. I got the car back and it was never the same. I took it back 2 times, then I didnt see my car for 3 more months, getting the runaround about parts. There were several mechanics working on my car within those months that are now no longer there. I finally got my car back, after they ruined it telling me to go to another GM dealer to have them fix what they couldnt. This car was a great car with 65,000 miles, not even 5 years old, and I am still paying for it at the tune of $29,000. The body and interior are still like new. My daughter has a Saturn ion redline that was part of the recall. Her car started to have problems starting, so she took it to a repair shop and they ran diagnostics and found nothing wrong with the car. It happened again, so she took it elsewhere and they suggested she change the battery - so she did. The very next day she had difficulty starting the car on two occasions and on the third attempt later that night it would not start at all. Since the recall had been for the car suddenly shutting down - not starting, we didnt think about the recall until after that. She had hit a hidden bump in the road before it stopped completely. She called the former Saturn dealer and told them what happened and they said it was the recall (we had read up on the forums and knew it was by then) and to have it towed to them - which we did. They gave her a Buick to drive. Today they called and said they had replaced the part and it still wouldnt start so it had to be the cars engine. They want to run diagnostics (which we had already done). Understandably, we dont trust them. Has anyone else had this experience?

I am on my third Saturn. I dont have an Ion. I have a 2007 VUE. I owned two other cars prior to this. My first two Saturns, within the warranty period, had to have the ignition replaced because they jammed and I couldnt turn the key to start the car. My VUE made it past the warranty period, but now is jamming up the same way. Another quirk: I can start the car and pull the key out and drive without the key in. I have to be careful to turn the ignition all the way to off before I pull the key out or the battery will die if the radio or something else is left on. I fully expect, based upon my experience today of trying for about 10 minutes to unlock the ignition and turn the key, that there will soon come a point where I cant start it and will have to pay loads to have the ignition replaced. Yes, three Saturns...same problem. If GM wanted to really be about customer service, they would acknowledge this issue.

However, after taking the key out and waiting between 7 and 10 minutes and trying to start, it starts without any problem. As mentioned, this problem has been going on for the past 12 months. So today, after reading some of the blogs and a posted phone number (**), I decided to call, the lady answering the phone was very polite and helpful. She called a buick dealership and got the service person on the phone. I asked this person if he had ever heard of this problem and he acknowledged that he did not. But after pressing further, he admitted that he had heard of this problem but need the car to further troubleshoot the problem and that they will charge a fee to do.Ill wait and see what happens. I am not ready to contact an attorney yet.

My 2007 Saturn Aura XR with approx. 80,000 miles would not engage in gear. After towing it to transmission repair shop, was told it had essentially disintegrated and was completely shot. I have been reading hundreds of identical complaints with this model year transmission. When I emailed GM customer service, I was told my VIN was not part of this transmission recall. Many others were told the same thing yet its the same problem with this model year (The door was damaged when it rolled into a pole when I thought it was engaged in park). Repairs are in excess of $3,000 and with no Saturn parts available. Clearly a defect. There should be assistance with repairs. Seems US auto makers get a bailout yet consumers get screwed. Can anything be done?

I bought my Ion with cash a year ago. The first time I drove it through the canyon, I tried using the cruise control. It took several attempts but eventually it set. Unfortunately hitting the brake or engaging the clutch did not disengage the cruise control. Turning it off also did nothing. The best I could do is put it in neutral and let the RPSMs scream until eventually the cruise control disengaged. After this, several times while driving in town, in the city, with the cruise control button switched off, my car would engage the cruise control and begin to accelerate and I was unable to disengage it again but managed to avoid any accidents. I finally disconnected the battery to erase the memory and clear out any previous cruise control settings. Still cannot find anyone that can solve this mystery. My current problem is this: I was on the freeway when my car began to squeal much like the sound of a belt. The motor ran ok and I actually made it home and the car cut out in the driveway and will not start. I turned the key and it makes a very bizarre sound I have never heard before. Anyone w/ anything?

I have a 2003 Saturn Ion. This is the second time that the ignition has locked. I got the car in 2007 and in 2009, it locked. It was still under warranty so I took it in and had to pay $50 for them to look at it. They replaced the ignition and the cylinder. It is now 2011 and I am having the same problem. I just got it replaced last week for $175. My car is no longer under warranty so I had to pay out of pocket, not to mention that I no longer have a job and I am still making payments. After getting it fixed last week, it started getting stuck again today. I will be filing a complaint and will be calling Saturn tomorrow. I hate this car now and I will never get a Saturn or GM ever again!

I noticed about a year ago that my ignition would stay on after I removed my key from the slot. I thought this was odd, but not a problem since if I turned to the off position the motor would cut as it should. In December of this year, and again in February as I drove my car along very busy streets it turned off. The wheel froze, nothing worked as I pulled the car to the right with all of my strength. I managed to coast to the side of the road and restart my car. Both times I assumed that I had somehow hit or pulled my key. Ive since (about 10 days ago) received a recall notice in the mail. I urge anyone who knows someone with such a car to take it to a repair shop as soon as possible. My experience was quite scary and potentially dangerous.

My 2006 Saturn Ion with only 43,500 miles on it would not start because of not being able to turn the key. I had to be towed to the GM dealer. They replaced the ignition housing and cylinder at the cost of $413.00. Its still acting up somewhat when I try to turn the key, it seem to stick somewhat. I just hope it keeps starting the car. After reading all the complaints about the same problem, I think its about time there was a recall on this problem. I am going to call the consumer affairs department of Saturn at 1-800-553-6000, I found this number online. I hope everyone who reads this also calls this same number.

My Saturn Vue (5 speed 4 cylinder) leaks water which has caused electrical problems. Currently my turn signals work now and then... My hazard lights too are connected to this problem. Usually this problem occurs when it is wet out. It is not the fuse, or the directional switch... I think it may be a bad ground wire? Any info would be helpful!!! My head just might explode!!! We bought our 2008 Saturn from a certified dealer about 3 years ago. The vehicle had just about 30K miles on it at the time. Shortly after purchasing the vehicle, we noticed that the engine light would come on and the service StabiliTrak light would come on. I obviously brought it back to the dealership, as it was under warranty at that time, and they said they figured out the problem and sent us on our way. Of course, no sooner did I pull out of the shop, and they light came on again. So, back we went...they said they repaired it. Sure enough, it did it again and they eventually came to the conclusion it was just a stupid sensor and everything was actually fine!Fast forward to December 2013 and the POS starts acting up. The transmission light came on and I panicked. My brother-in-law suggested we just try putting in more fluid and see if that helps. We did...it helped for about 2 days. And then...HELL BROKE LOOSE!! The entire transmission was shot!! It had something to do about a wave plate and as a result, we needed to get an entirely rebuilt transmission to the tune of about $3,600!!! Literally, on the way home from the repair shop, the engine light started flashing! I immediately turned around and brought it back to the shop. They ran some tests and determined that it was likely some excess crap that just happened to pass through the sensor causing it to get triggered. Now, 8 months later, the engine light keeps going on and whenever I fill my car with gas, I have to rev the accelerator to get it to start!! It seemed to be running ok...but after the last fiasco, we didnt want to risk anything. So, I brought it into the shop. The technician find that there has been over 36K misfires from cylinder 2 and that the spark plug has seized. I leave my vehicle there and drive their 1994 Toyota Corolla with over 232K miles on it over the weekend as a loaner. (amazing how a 1994 Toyota Corolla with 232K miles is still running, but my 2008 with 92K miles on it is toast). Anyways, he said that they wanted to replace the spark plugs and then try moving the cylinder coil that had been connected to the #2 over to a different one to see if maybe the issue was just the cylinder coil and nothing more serious.I receive a call this afternoon telling me that it appears that the issue was not related to the cylinder coil and they suspect we are going to need a NEW ENGINE!!!!! Yep, thats right...A NEW ENGINE!!!! This car does not even have 100K miles on it and I am being told I need to put a NEW ENGINE in it??? After we already replaced the transmission!!! That is seriously wrong and a total load of crap!!It appears that both the transmission and the engine are well-known problems for this model and year of vehicle!! I guess 2007s are experiencing the same troubles!! If you look online you can see discussion board after discussion board all discussing these same issues. Saturn needs to stand up and take responsibility for producing a faulty product!!! There is no reason I should have to put in over $10K worth of repairs on a vehicle with less than 100K miles on it!! It is disgraceful!!!

My experience is really bad and I hope that, by writing this review, I would be able to refrain people from buying at SATURN. I wanted to buy a new fridge and the old one to be picked up by SATURN (which is mandatory for law). I did my order by the customer service to be sure that every detail would have been clear and I did explicitly said while ordering that I would have liked the old fridge to be picked up. Eventually I received a confirmation of my order without that specification. For this reason, I called many times to change the order and although the people from the customer service promised me that they would have changed the order, they did not. So at the end I receive the new fridge but the old one hasnt been picked up. Now I am sure that it was a strategy from the beginning not to specify my wish and also what they did afterwards. I think the employees form the customer service are thought to do so. For this reason I wont ever buy at SATURN. I will also dissuade people. Really bad experience!!!!

I have an ‘05 Saturn ION and the ignition cylinder has been nothing but problematic. Ive had the problem where the key gets stuck in the ignition while it’s running and cannot be turned off. This has happened three separate times. The first time was fixed under warranty. The second time was a little over a year ago and just recently, it happened again. The thing is, if you are getting it replaced, make sure that the cylinder is replaced with GM Part # 20869121 which is a newly designed cylinder used in other GM cars.I dont know if the technical bulletins for the ION have been updated to address this. But if they havent, do not let the dealer use the defectively designed Saturn OEM part because you will just have the same issue in the future. My recently repaired car uses the new GM part, so Im hopeful that this will be the end of the problem. You can tell the difference between the two parts because the old OEM part has sort of a dull metal finish which can be seen around the key hole when its installed, while the newer part appears shinier.

I have a 2007 Saturn Ion and, like others on here, I have experienced my key getting stuck in the ignition. The only difference is this happened to me when I was on vacation and I have no idea where the nearest mechanic was. I contacted AAA and they tried to come out to help but were unsuccessful. They pointed me to a Sears mechanic in the area and the gentleman there was extremely helpful, but because I was on vacation and needed to have the car to get home, they were only able to offer a temporary fix for the problem, which was to unplug the battery and remove the fuse to force the car to shut off. They were able to remove the key though. I am very disappointed in Saturn and GM that they have neglected to recall this part and am surprised there are so many people out there that have had the same exact problem. Shame on you, GM.

Saturn Vue original trans failed at 121,500. Based on what I read, I was lucky to have had it last that long. As new GM failed to uphold the results of the lawsuit, that is to cover replacement for a defective product, I had to pay $5000 for parts and labor to replace. I was told warranty is 3-year/36k miles. I went ahead, thinking if I get three years that would be great and worth the money. Now, at 2 years and 34,000 miles, I have a failing trans and am being told that no, the warranty is only 12/12. I am screwed. Even my mechanic was told 3/36 by dealership where he bought it. I was able to make it home, had a friend that work on cars take a look at it. He got in, drove it up the street and it did the same thing again. Ive had this car now for about 9 mos. Its been a pretty good car until the last 2 weeks. The a/c was the 1st to go out (when I 1st got it). I had everything replaced, then about 2 mos. later, the a/c went out again. So, 2 weeks ago, the stereo stopped playing, it says to check the wiring. In the past week, all these new things started. I now smell gas fumes, when we hit the door locks, the headlights go out and back on. Last night, I put the car in reverse, and the lights went out and back on. Sometimes, when I put it in reverse, the gas gauge drops from 1/2 tank to empty. Other times, after refueling, I leave the pump with the empty gas light on. I make sure the gas cap is on tight before I leave the station. Two days now, the security light comes on, so today, I replaced the battery in the wireless remote, and stopped @ Autozone to have the cars battery checked & it is fine. A few months ago, I was having a problem with the car stalling out when I backed up, but after hearing about the ignition switch recall & GM, I tried something that works. I took the key off my keyring. There are no other keys on it, the added weight of a few other keys, was messing with the ignition switch. Im pretty sure my problem is with some loose wiring, I read that with the Saturn, the a/c condenser hose pops off, and read theres no hope for the gas smell. I just pray the car doesnt go up in flames. Oh, and have had a few problems with the tail lights too. And a few weeks ago, I couldnt get the trunk lock to catch after checking the problem with the brake/tall-light problem. I didnt know until today that Saturn is a GM product, cause I promise you had I known, I would never have bought it. Ford held their own, GM bailed out.

Our key has been stuck in the ignition of our 2006 Saturn Ion for the last 4 days. Three days prior to that the dealer replaced a frozen air compressor and transmission line ($1400). About 45 minutes before the key got stuck with the engine running, the coolant light came on even though wed had an oil change two weeks prior. We were instructed to disconnect the battery, but that did not stop the engine from running. A neighbor came over and helped disconnect a fuse. I am leery about sinking more money in this vehicle. We have had the faulty power steering replaced and a crack in the nipple inside the gas tank. I believe these repairs are above and beyond usual repair and maintenance for a vehicle and feel theyre unjust.I know the VIN number on my car was the same as those recalled a few years ago, but because my vehicle was not initially sold in what the NTSB deemed a hot state, it was not eligible. Without doubt, the Mid-East now experiences the same extreme weather conditions as did the hot states and I am advocating that all Saturns built between 2005-2007 be recalled. Anyone else joining me?

My Saturn Outlook 2008 has had water pump replaced at 30,000 miles, solenoid replaced around the same time. Multiple transmission wave plate issues requiring rebuild 3 times, fortunately all covered by warranty but the last time I had to pay to have transmission flushed. Being that it has failed me 3 times, I know how to go easy on it so it lasts. I am the only one who drives my car because it is very temperamental. Oh yeah I recently replace front grill because one morning I woke up and it had a rippled appearance. $250.00. Car looks good inside and out, costed me $515/month for 6 years. The biggest mistake ever, but it is very appealing to the eye. People love the car. If they only knew what a heap of crap it was. My 1998 Lexus E300 is more dependable, and cost me $3500, used. My issues were communicated to Saturn/GM. They did nothing interesting but take down the complaints.

I have been bitten by the Saturn transmission failure beast! Everything was fine for the two years we had owned the vehicle, until last Sunday. On the way home from an event, the transmission started slipping as I turned the corner to my house. The next day, when my wife drove to work, it was slipping in and out of gear. When she finally made it to work, she had no reverse to get into her parking spot. I went and retrieved the vehicle and went right to the repair shop. As I walked into the door, the service man said, transmission problems? I said, Yes, how did you know? He said the it was a known issue on the Saturns and GM does not stand behind the vehicle. I will be responsible for the repair, which would be a complete transmission overhaul (cost $3,200)!I am very upset that GM refuses to help their customers on this problem! I have purchased many GM products, but if this is how I will be treated, it will be my last! I am going to begin my quest to get some assistance from GM. But based on what Ive read, I dont have much hope. I will update this if I get any different response than what is already written here.
