At 13,300 miles, the manual clutch went out in a 2010 KIA SOUL. KIA wont honor its warranty as the clutch is a wear and tear item. I cant imagine any clutch burning out at 13k. My last manual clutch (Jeep) had the factory clutch in it when I traded it in at 89,000 miles with no problems. When I checked online, I found out many people had clutch problems. Many with even less mileage than mine. I also found out that KIA had replaced several of the clutch parts in the following years models. Apparently, they have realized they have a problem with their clutch. But it still cost me $12,000 to fix it.

Leased an awesome car for 36 months. Great shape when we turned it in. Waited for the final bill for the turn in fee ($400). When the bill came they soaked us for another $500 for wear and tear on tires though our mileage was less than the agreement. BEWARE.

Took my 2005 Kia Sorento to the your dealership where it was purchased, for the rear main seal repair. The car has been running rough for the past two years. They did a GDS test, code for throttle position sensor, had spark plus & cables change. Vehicle has 90,000 mile. $800.00 later the Sorento run worst. Was told its a 2005, it will never run smooth. In that case would of kept it like it was. Now have to bring it back for another 2 days.

As a Kia owner and supporter of the rejuvenated products and brands, I had to tell you about my experiences that are still on-going with the dealer and service franchisees/network that Kia seem to be straddled with.On July 13, I brought my car in to City World Kia in the Bronx, which, in and of itself, was a nightmare. You see, the greater New York Metro area has very few dealers to choose from and those that are members of your network are very suspect at best and downright dishonest and awful in reality.Having called Jason at customer service (Kia USA), it was clear he could only be limited in his effectiveness as he constantly and repeatedly told me that the dealers were independent and that Kia USA could not directly get involved to help the service process along. This was seven days into leaving my car there without even a call or return about my inquiries. That was very frustrating since it is in Kias best interest to make sure that their dealer and service network are not only trained well, but also provide the best service that they can as competition, as you know, is fierce.Unfortunately, Jason (of Kia USA Customer Service) didnt follow-up after I asked him if I could pass along my frustrations to the district manager (who he said was not available to the public) and we ended the call with him giving me an ID # 28-2003701. No call or any updates as he was ignored by City World KIA as well. All he could say was, sorry Mr. ** and Ill do what I can, which is nothing. I also talked to Kathryn ** at the corporate office and Crystal **, who closed my case after she did nothing to get my car fixed. This, in and of itself, was the most insulting since she ignored four phone calls that I made. When I called Justina, another service representative, just to speak to someone on August 17, she, at least, called me back twice to tell me she had to send the case to the executive level because it was closed by Crystal (after Jason gave it to executive, he didnt and couldnt do anything). Amazed, shocked and insulted -- my car still wasnt fixed. So why should I get frustrated if my Borrego was lost at City World for a week? Why should I be upset that Kia USA did absolutely nothing to move my car along after I took it out of City World Kia and after they finally found it (yes, they lost it)? Why then should I be insulted and feel demeaned after Lash Kia couldnt provide a loaner car because I waited a month to have them get some parts in to do the work? It has been three days and I am still waiting for Lash Kia to finish their work on the Borrego. And when I talked to David, the service associate who I originally spoke with about my horrifying experience with City World KIA, he was upset and was correcting me that I have to wait to get the additional parts in. Do they think at Kia that their customers dont need their cars? Do they treat all of their customers like this? So, I found myself waiting with no car despite giving Lash Kia a month to get the recall parts and do the work they needed to do. Afterwards, they told me that the car and the issues Ive raised (and youll love this) are operating within manufacturers parameters. I was told that the 4WD hang up sometimes when it is engaged and does the same thing when you want to disengage it. What? Are they kidding? So, after over a month of waiting and fixing the delaminated rotors myself for safety reasons, I am treated like an imbecile. Kia USA ignored me despite my sending emails to six of their executives and being promised a promotion for my troubles. Wow! I wonder if the head office in South Korea is aware of the poor level of service and treatment of their customers in North America. Each time, I had to call the service department and they were upset with me whenever I inquired as to the status of the car. With City World, I called after four days and I was not able to speak with Nick, a service technician who was supposedly fired, until the end of that first week. Moreover, the claim by Carlos, the service manager, was that they were busy and I had nine items to check. But then again, I found out that the special technician was out of town until the end of the week. The same thing happened at Lash when a seemingly competent Tania ** went on vacation while my car was with them. Only after I called three times did I get David to call me back to tell me they were waiting for another part despite me trying to avoid leaving my car at another dealership for three more days without any notice or update. On the basis that the service options for Kia automobiles are so restricted in this area to ramshackle chop shops, their on-line service appointment system was a complete waste as the request and ensuing specifics about why I was bringing the car in was not even received by City World. Its something of a phishing feature and, yes, this is something that Kia should be concerned about. How can Kia USA ignore an area with 16 million people? Had I been working for Kia, I would make every effort to get new licensees with state-of-the-art service centers, show rooms, and sales and service people that can, at least, spell! Ive owned Hondas, Acuras, Mercedes-Benz, Mazdas and BMWs over the years and not once have I been so blown away by the complete incompetence, indifference, filth, poor service, etc. by the Kia brand. My bottom line is that Kia needs desperately to upgrade all of the areas I mentioned and Id be happy to stay with them because I am thrilled by the renaissance over the years from the disastrous Hyundai Pony of the 80s to the thrilling designs and engineering of the line-up today. Unfortunately, the dealer and service network is so wanting and deficient that Kia will lose sales on that basis alone which is truly a shame! As for my poor car, I brought it in for the following reasons: Service Campaign CS005 (rear seat carpet replacements), defective windshield washer motor, defective hatch-rear light, wheezing and clunky CD player, popping and knocking sound under the passenger seat, slow-shifting transmission, 4WD that gets stuck in low (requiring a reboot by shutting off the car and rolling it), front brakes that have either got warped or delaminating rotors causing serious vibration, a possible leak in the fluid, and poor suspension which causes the vehicle to hop and jump over road seems and bumps. I understand that it is a truck-tuned suspension, but it is unsafe to corner with the Borrego because of the serious steering issues when hitting any bumps at all. I neglected to tell them about the inside weather seals that are dropping off and that need to be reset on all four doors, but hey, I just wanted them to deal with the safety issues. Oh, and I asked about how to clean the cloth seats and all I got was a comment to use regular upholstery cleaner. Gee, thanks, considering that they are staining so easily, that my daughters damp swimsuits left water stains on all of the seats in the back. Great quality! Considering the service so far (or total lack thereof), I dont expect anything and absolutely will never buy a Kia or recommend one again. In fact, what Kia has done (especially Kia USAs total lack of interest in assisting me with their independent dealer network and their promises that were left unfilled) is that instead of bringing a customer back in the fold, they have created an absolutely incensed customer who will use every opportunity to enlighten anyone about the dealer network and the corporate reality of Kia USA as a paper kitten when dealing with their dealers and their customers. As it is, I had to drive some 12 miles from my home to get bounced from the dealership to the service area because I couldnt bring myself to go to the Yonkers location. No communication from Jason or anyone as they close the files regardless if the case was resolved or not. The reason that major corporations run into significant problems is that their field experts do not have the ability to end licensees relationships, or just decide not to, simply because they are selling cars. Imagine how many more they would sell if they did not have dealerships like City World Auto, Yonkers Kia, the fraudsters at Major World and Nemet (who tried to bait and switch me, posting cars they didnt have on-line), and Smithtown Kia.Right now, I am sitting, waiting and expecting for a call. I would likely get some huge bill with nothing covered under the warranty despite the car having only 32,000 miles on it. I shudder to think how much more effort Ill have to make to get my car back without any damage being done to it. Can Kia USA help? No. Hopefully, this letter will shake up the district managers and their managers. Kia might sell even more cars and create happy, grateful repeat customers! I, unfortunately, will never be one of them.

I bought a 2015 KIA Soul in Aug 2015, a 2015 model. I bought the car based on price and gas mileage. They touted the excellent warranty and reliability of the car. Well, six months later the car stopped running at a stop sign this past Sunday. Its a manual transmission and would not engage the transmission. Had it towed to KIA and was informed today the clutch was burnt out and the warranty on this is 12K miles and the car has 12,900K so guess what. Yep, $1500.00 dollars later I can get my car back. I have driven manual transmissions my entire life and never had any sort of clutch failure. Buyer beware. Please read and advise all your friends to stay as far away from KIA as possible. Supposedly the case was sent to KIA headquarters who denied the claim. Shame on that person and believe me I will spread the word far and wide. DO NOT BUY A KIA.

Kia 2013 Optima Hybrid: 7/17/2015 - Drivers side rear passenger tire blowout on 405 freeway, exit 18. 7am, Costco Fountain Valley, had air pressure check. Got on the freeway and had a blowout. I rotate tires and have tires inspected every 6 months. I have about 28k mileage, the tire was rated 9 on inspection. I was very upset because I nearly got killed if not for the kindness of this lady who blocked traffic and escorted me to the shoulder. The previous week, I had my car inspected and I had a slow leak on the side. The Kia dealer suggested I replace the tire. First blow out, I manage to get car to Pep Boys and got a replacement tire. To my horror, I found out I did not have a spare tire. The blow up patch was useless. I asked Pep Boy what was the cause. They said NO nails or apparent cause. I replace tires with same type. I thought it was ODD that a new tire on a new car would blow up (I purchased my Kia Feb 2014). In less than a year, I had to replace a tire. When 2nd tire blow out happened, I decided to replace all four tires with Bridgestone. I dont know about you but replacing 3/4 tires on a relatively new car is unheard of in all my years of driving. I have had tires lasting me 70-75 miles. The shredded tires fell apart around the whole seam of the car in inner circle just above the rims.

2011 KIA Optima - After only 75,000 miles the steering wheel is getting loose. I brought the vehicle to the dealership and said it was a known issue, but refused to pay for it. They said I could put my name on the list to have the part ordered (50 currently on back order), but said I wanted to contact the manufacturer to place a complaint. KIAs 100,000 mile DRIVE TRAIN warranty does not cover the steering. I will never purchase from KIA ever again. They are cheaply built cars!

My Kia Soul shifts out of gear and randomly does not start. It makes a buzzing sound at times, too. The Kia has been towed 4 times in 1 year. They suggested that maybe I dont know how to start my car properly (which includes 4 different tow truck drivers that dont know how to start it either!), but Im thinking that thats probably not the problem. Its been in the service shop approx. 15 times since I bought it brand new in September of 2011. Has anyone else had these issues? Fed up in Florida.

I bought a car at Car Pros Kia. They never notified me that the car had a recall until I went for my first inspection after 3 months!!! I found out that the car that I bought was a DEMO and they never told me that. They sold it as a new car. I was so stressed out that I did not even see the miles that the car had on until the next day. I took a picture of it -- 75 miles that I did not drive!!! They wrote on my contract 8 miles!!! I trusted them and they took advantage of me. The warranty that I bought was supposed to take care of everything as the lady said from top to bottom, everything and anything and it is not true. My 3rd inspection, I will have to pay more than $400. On top of everything, they are rude. No courtesy at all. I called a sales manager called Rodrigo and he kept repeating that he was busy just because I said that I need to talk to him and he hang up on me!!! The only person that has my respect over there is the driver that took me to IKEA. Getting an attorney!

I need my rotors resurfaced before I even need brakes at 20,000 miles. I went all the way up the ladder with Kia and they keep coming back with The warranty was only for 12k miles. The car should not have a problem with rotors already. Their reasoning is I could have driven through puddles which cooled down the rotors so then they heat back up and cause problems. And a bunch of other lousy excuses. Luckily, this 38k car is a lease and goes back in six months.

Changed engine oil regularly. Last time even put in synthetic to improve longevity on a 5w 20 as recommended for a Sorento 2013. Last weekend the engine oil starts when traveling to the beach with my family. Immediately drive back to get into an Auto Zone near the area, never get there....after several noises coming from the engine, it stops and never started again. Next day went to the Kia dealer and care center. After 4 days and no call, my wife calls and surprise, they said that the engine was damaged beyond repair and the guaranty does not cover due to the services were not provided by them...saying that the reason for the damage was slug on the engine due to low maintenance. Strange, since do the same maintenance schedule to my Toyota Sienna from 2001 and it has 196,000 miles already and no issues with the motor. So, I believe that they can argue the same to anyone with problems, IF YOU DO NOT SERVICE AT THEIR SHOP, COULD BE REASON ENOUGH TO DENY THE WARRANTY? For sure will never purchase another KIA, good looking vehicle, as soon as you get some issues, it hits you....be lucky trying to obtain the warranty from them....

I have a 2018 Kia, Sorento. I have been trying to get blind spot mirrors since the the day I purchase it in Nov. 2017. After being told by the dealers salesman, then parts department (Napelton Kia in Elgin, IL.,) I contacted KIA online. I had a chat with Alexis (Friday 6/29/18 at 5:14 CDT). When asked why I couldnt look up parts for my 2018 KIA Sorento, she replied that the parts department had not update (sp) them yet. I should contact their parts specialist sometime MON-FRI from 6:30 A.M.-5:00 P.M. PST. When I said that not having someone to answer parts questions all the time was archaic, the conversational attitude changed. I told her that I had purchased 2 new KIAs this year for cash, her reply was We do not accept cash, sir. You must be confusing us with the dealer. Of course I was talking about the dealer! I cant buy from the manufacturer! That doesnt change the fact that I spent over $40,000 with this company. All I got was the corporate run-around from them. Very disappointed and wish I had bought the Subarus I had been looking at.

Kia Soul bought March 2014. 1 recall within 1st year. 6-18-15 the car would not start. I had to miss work and find someone to take me to the dealer. Hours later I was told nothing was wrong with the Battery. 7-24-15 the car would not start again. A little over a month since the last problem, I found someone to drive me to Kia after my car was towed and I had to miss work again. Hours later again, nothing wrong with my Battery. I called the Kia 800# while waiting, told there were 2 more recalls (they wont call them recalls anymore), these items noted as corrected on my invoice.7-27-15 the car would not start again. Kia called a tow truck again. I borrowed a car, could not call in work again. After multiple calls to Kia service, tow company and Kia at 800#. I was offered a loaner car and mine would be research more. Later that day per message on my voice mail, car is fixed, battery replaced. I bought a new car for the security and this is what I get. Stress on my mother and myself, miss many hours of work going on my record as missed work hours and gas for multiple trips to Kia.Updated on 9/07/2015: The parking and tail lights have come on in the middle of the night for no reason. It was discovered when going outside to get the newspaper 2 days and I woke up the next day worrying about my car at 3:00 am, the lights were in again. OBVIOUSLY the problem is not the battery. The computer needs checked with good machine for a short or something else, not the one at Dutch Miller Kia in South Charleston, WV. Car lights do not just come on in the middle of the night for no reason. Why this problem was not found after 3 visits in the summer? I am scheduling an appointment at my Kia in WV for 9-10-2015. I cannot miss another day of work.

I have to do work on my car from time to time. The last car was not safe for my little one to ride in, so I went and bought a brand new car. I thought that buying a NEW car, I would not be getting someone Elses problem! In December, my car started needing a jump, then it ran good for a while and then I heard a clicking that sounded like it was coming from the battery area. It has started blowing out air when the air is turned off. The clicking and blowing air seems to come together. Now I hear this while driving. I am rethinking buying the NEW KIA Rio for the safety of my child. Dont worry now there is a popping noise coming from the wheel area? If anyone has any thoughts or ideas, please help! Im the first owner but KIA says they are not sure what it is and Ill have to pay. HELP, please from a loving mother to another loving parent, grandparent, or anyone kind enough to help. People are buying these cars for their family, wife, or kids and it looks like they may not be safe for anyone. I think it is safe to say no KIA I have ever seen gets the gas mileage they claim. I paid off my car but do not plan to buy another KIA no matter what! Please stop buying or try to stop them from selling before they kill people with these unsafe cars!!!!!!!

Purchased a car, went to pick it up and close the deal. Said the car was moved offsite, they could not find it. Then they found it but could not start it, it was the battery, no then it was the fuel pump. They bring up a higher priced model and said take it or leave it. I had to have a car, they knew it. Then hidden in the lease and never disclosed is a $400 termination fee. I argue, they say they never disclose this after all it is 3 years away. Arrogant and unprofessional, might as well have been on a used car lot with bare light bulbs shining. Three letters and many phone calls to the owners, not a return - nothing. How about I am sorry. I purchased a Kia 2004 Sorento from a local Kia dealer. About 2 years before the warranty was up (I bought it used from them and they only gave me the remaining 1st 5 year warranty), the car started making loud noises from the transmission/transfer case area. Then, while driving on the highway, the wheel basically locked up. I contacted the dealer, took it in, and they replaced a few parts but did not find out what was actually going on. After getting the car back, about 2 weeks later, it started again so I took it in again to them. They changed the oil in the front and told me to drive some more. Then 30 days before my warranty was up, it acted up again, and I took it in and they did nothing but check the oil again. So, almost 2 months later (30 days give or take after the warranty was up), my transfer case went out. I blew a seal and almost totally destroyed it. I took it back to Kia in Liberty Lake, WA and they told me that they would not cover it because it was not the main reason I kept bringing it in for. After researching, I found that this seemed to be a known issue with them and if their shop would have taken the time to check everything, they could have saved all those visits and unnecessary repairs. So, they wanted just under $5,000 to replace the transfer case. Well, I owed only $8,000, so to me, this was not right. I had to search around for a used transfer case because I had Torque on Demand version which was very hard to locate. I found a used one and had it replaced and only after 1 year later, the same exact thing occurred. Now that Ive had this car for a while and it is older, I have found so many people with the same issue but Kia refuses to do anything. You cannot tell me they do not know that this is a major issue. When the first time the wheel locked up, I was in major traffic and on the 2nd time, I was still in traffic but was lucky no one was behind me. I do not understand why/how KIA is not being made to replace these. Oh, and the manager at the service center put in his system that I refused service so that kept me from getting help from the dealer or corporation. Wow! Yes, I refused service on a lemon car.

I bought my Sorento new, it is a 2009. Running loud. It has 77K miles and the diff. rear end is bad. I cannot believe there is not a recall as many complaints as I have seen posted on the net. There needs to be a class action lawsuit! It can lock up while you are driving or explode!!! How many people have already wrecked because they just thought it was just sounding a little loud. I really thought it was just my tires or something. This is going to eventually be a giant recall like Toyota had, but as we all know it takes a few people dying first. I will keep all you Kia owners in my prayers. As for me....I am going to trade mine in for a Honda while it at least looks like it will run!

I purchased a 2018 Kia Stinger the end of June 2018 and have had nothing but grief since the purchase. Presently the car has 3200 miles on it and has been in the garage multiple times. Ive made several trips to the dealer for a trunk rattle in which they had to put shims in the slam block in the hatch to resolve the problem. Then it was back in the garage because the interior lights quit working. And several weeks ago I backed it out of the garage and shut the car off for a brief time waiting for my husband to get into the car and when he went to start the car all the lights started flashing and the car would not start and the car would not recognize that the key fob was present. I immediately called the Kia dealer and the service manager went home for the evening and no techs available but was advised to have the car towed to Kia or call roadside assistance. This episode caused us to be late for an appointment. To make a long story short the battery had to be replaced the next day interfering with plans that were made for the day. Today my car is @ the dealership once AGAIN for them to monitor a violent jerk in the car which has occurred several times and was told the fuel pump will probably need replaced! They will be keeping the car for several days. Id like to note that I have to drive 35 miles one way to the Kia dealership. A new car is suppose to be a pleasurable satisfying experience and an investment in my hard earned money. This experience of owning my first Kia has been a nightmare causing me inconvenience, stress and grief. I regret the purchase and it was not a cheap purchase. No vehicle with this amount of mileage should have so many issues like I have had. Im making payments on a car that sits in a garage being repaired every month. I often wonder how much this unreliable car will cost me in the future when warranty runs out. Id like to note on the positive side that Kias service department has been awesome through this ordeal and has expressed concern and understanding with my frustrations and their customer service at Team Kia in Johnstown, Pa. is first class.

Car engine blew-up @ 50,811 miles on 12/08/2017, just had oil changed on 11/14/2017, car had 49,555 running perfectly fine. On 12/08/2017 husband arrives at work @ 7 am and all his co-workers were looking at him strangely as the car started to sound like a helicopter above. He backed into the parking space then shut down engine POW all the engine oil pours out, as co-workers supplied him to put cardboard under the engine, I called KIA roadside service for tow. They came and towed to KIA dealership and they are not taking responsibility. Im still under warranty. They are playing a blame game where I changed my oil saying its a faulty oil filter. Why is it I drove my vehicle just fine for 1,200 miles (3 weeks) and not a single drop of oil in my driveway, not a drop. Then a little drive up the road approx. 5 miles as every weekday to my husbands employment at 7 am it just blows up, he takes side streets not even the highway. Then the Dealer states there was no oil and no oil on dipstick, and engine light on. Duh... because its on the concrete at my husbands parking spot. Heres a pic at his work. If it were a faulty oil filter/gasket my engine would have blown way before. A lot of engine specialist say it sounds like the Pistons blew through the motor.KIA are crooks and need to be held accountable. I maintain my car, Im a disabled 57 year old with disabilities, this is my only way to get to and from my doctors and its making me have setbacks, I was in the ER on 12/13/2017 due to stress and anxiety and excruciating pain, an episode of my fibromyalgia. While in ER they also had findings that Im gonna need spinal surgery. My C-2 is fractured, I need my car or at least a rental, my finances are exhausted, I need surgery, follow ups, rehabilitation and have no car yet. Im still paying my car payments, providing insurance for my car thats $400 per month, plus I had to rent a car to get to and from neurosurgeon/husbands work/MRIS, that costed me $30 per day, I have to return it after my neurosurgeon appointment on 12/22/2017.Its disgusting that this Company KIA is so corrupt and is getting away with their defective Automobiles, when I started researching there are 1,000s of Kias blowing engines of cars with such a few miles, these are NEW cars we the people are paying good money for, why is it NO ONE WILL HELP US KIA CUSTOMERS AND MAKE THINGS RIGHT. THIS IS DANGERING MY LIFE... IM GETTING SICKER... MAKE ME WHOLE. See because the service writer gets commission if its not Kias fault, and zero commission if it is their fault. Makes sense?Meanwhile my health is declining for a selfish greedy company, youre telling me they have millions of cars sitting, some they sink and they cannot make things right and replace these vehicles. Yet we allow these cars to come to the United States to squeeze us dry selling defective Automobiles, so unfair. Since this all happened I want to know something, I often drive with my little grandbabies in my car, what if we were on the freeway??? And the engine died??? Would we all be alive??? PLEASE MAKE THEM ACCOUNTABLE! INVESTIGATE... INVESTIGATE. MAKE THIS RIGHT. Thank you and God Bless though driving KIAS... BEWARE.

I purchased a 2014 Kia Sorrento brand new. After the warranty expired around 130,000 miles, my engine blew a rod and destroyed my engine to a point where it needed a new engine. I just had $8,000 in repairs on the engine done 4 months prior to this happening. The dealership (Cronin Kia, Harrison, Ohio) said it wasnt related to the work that was done 4 months prior. HIGHLY suspect of that. I called Kia Consumer Affairs and put in my complaint and made a claim. They said it would take 24-48 hours to get an answer to see if Kia will put in a Good Will towards replacing my engine. After calling them every other day to get an answer, THREE weeks later they said there is nothing that they will do for. WORST car ever! Worst experience EVER! I will never buy a Kia EVER AGAIN! And Ill be sure to let the thousands of people I personally know that to never but a Kia ever again!

I purchase a 2012 Kia Soul from Regal Kia and in 2016 the engine busted. There was no indications that there was a problem with the engine because the engine light never turned on. Also, a month after I had the car, the starter went dead, had to pay $400 for a new starter. I want everybody to know that the Kia Soul is not a very good car, do not buy them. When I got in touch with the Kia Headquarters, they did not want to take responsibility for their defective car. Warning: Do not buy the Kia Soul or any Kia cars. They are poorly made cars that dealership make money on. No I would not recommend a dog much more a friend.

I was introduced to the Kia brand from a friend of mine. She had owned several Kia’s and absolutely loved them. I was very pleased with my Kia Sedona and used it to haul my children around for quite some time. In 2019 my husband wanted to get me something a little smaller because the kids were getting older and we didn’t necessarily need all the room the Sedona offered all the time. He found a 2017 Kia Sorento at Kia Southside. It was in great shape, had slightly less than 30K miles on it, and it had a third-row seat. It was a beautiful car, but I didn’t really “need” it. I was perfectly content with my Sedona and they couldn’t get the payment down to where I was comfortable. BUT, they had my keys. It was late, I was tired and I wanted to go home. I tried to get my keys back twice. The second time, they were laying on the counter and they stopped me from grabbing them and suddenly all the numbers worked out. That should have been my first red flag! My husband bought the car and we were happy. Until we weren’t…It is now December 2021 and my car is in the shop. I got an error light and took it to my trusted mechanic. He told me that something in my engine has broken loose and blown a hole in the valve cover. He advised me to have it towed to Kia because “Kia owes you something” and that he’s “never seen anything like it” with less than 60K miles on an engine. My car wasn’t due for service again for another 900 miles.I had the car towed to Kia Southside. My service manager advised me that I did have an extended service package/warranty for 100K miles/10 years. He said that they would diagnose it and then have a Fidelity inspector come out to see if it would be covered. He later told me that I had a 50/50 chance because my engine had sludge in it and “they don’t like sludge”. He told me to prepare to show them my service records. Fidelity did deny my claim so my service rep gave me the phone number to call them.I spoke with Fidelity and they said I was denied due to sludge. They were not interested in my records or situation at all. To clarify the situation, I said to the Fidelity rep, “So what you’re saying is service records, or no service records, it doesn’t matter. If there is sludge in the engine, you don’t cover it”. He said that my statement was correct. I asked him how they would know how the sludge got there, as I am the second owner. He said that there is no way to tell if there is sludge unless someone was to take the engine apart. He agreed that the sludge could have been in the engine before I even owned the car. It appears to me that “sludge in the engine” is a convenient catch all to not honor warranties. The Fidelity rep advised me to contact Kia Consumer Affairs.I called Kia Consumer Affairs, explained my situation, and basically the representative told me to call Fidelity. I told him that Fidelity told me to call Kia. He advised me that my 5 year/60K Kia warranty was up and I should pay for the repairs myself. He seemed thoroughly annoyed by my request to speak to a supervisor, but finally said, “They’re just going to tell you the same thing!” and put me on hold. I waited for a bit and then found myself dumped into a supervisor’s voicemail. I did receive a call back from Kia Consumer Affairs. He left me a 32 second voicemail stating that his associate was correct and my warranty was up.So here I sit, with a 2017 Kia Sorento with less than 60K miles on it, with a blown engine and a car payment. I’ve basically used it to tote children back and forth. I don’t drive it hard and I really haven’t put that many miles on it. I don’t hate Kia cars. Simply put, I think I have a defect. I’m asking that Fidelity and Kia do the right thing, fix my car or give me a comparable one at no cost.

I purchased a new Kia Rio 2012 on March 7, 2012. The AC was not working after 2 months. To get an appointment, I waited for 10 days. After repairing, they have not rectified the complaints, so they checked again. I found AC compressor complaints and they told me to wait for 15 to 20 days to get the parts. This is too bad. What should I do for this? I’m 20 or 30 days without a car.

2010 kia forte - door locks open automatically when stopped. I have had this issue for about a month now. The first time I took it to my kia dealership they said they couldnt re-enact the locks opening on their own and to bring it back when it was doing this. The issue is when I stop, the car is in drive, or reverse, the automatic door locks open...You cant manually or by pushing the button, get them to relock. I feel this is a real safety issue. We took the car back on a morning when the locks had just opened on their own and went straight to the dealerships and spoke again to the service manager, who sat in the car with my husband on dealership property and drove no more than 10 feet, locks opened... They drove a few more feet and they opened again. So the service manager had witnessed the problem himself which he said they needed to have happen to verify what I was telling them. He was supposed to at that time reach out to kia corporate to see if there were any other issues of this type on file or if there were any modules about the locks. We were told on the day the service mgr. witnessed the problem they didnt have time to fix it that day and to bring it back in a couple of weeks and leave it overnight so they could check it first thing in the am. This brings us to today. They have had my car all day and the tech is saying he cant recreate the problem. I dont know why he has to when the service manager has told him the problem. They hadnt done any checks for shorts or faults. I called kia corporate and spoke to customer care there who did call the dealership to see what they had done as there was no record of the dealership logging a record with corporate as they were supposed to do two weeks ago. The service manager wasnt in today. They called him at home and he told them what he witnessed. At that point they said they were going to check for shorts. They had my car all day and are still saying they cant recreate the problem. Apparently tomorrow the service manager will be in and he will try to recreate the problem and were told I want this resolved by end of day tomorrow. I told them I want them to reimburse me for the gas they are using up driving around in my car to diagnose a problem their service manager had already seen. I dont see why, upon the service managers word that there is a problem with the locks, that they dont just replace the door locks. So they have my car for another day, for which I am inconvenience. If they dont fix the problem tomorrow, I will be contacting the COO of Kia Canada and registering my extreme displeasure with this experience. This was my first kia and now it will be my last. The customer service is awful and it appears they just dont want to fix the problem because its still under warranty.

I bought a Kia Rio in 2003. I was the first owner with 1,000 miles on it. It was on clearance. I didn’t need an extra car, but the price was too good to be true. 3 months after the purchase, it was still under the famous 100,000-mile guarantee. The A/C stopped working. I took it back. They fixed it. 8 months later, the A/C stopped working again. They fixed it. 2 to 3 months later, the A/C stopped working again along with the driver lock. They fixed both. This time, I told them that I didnt want the car no more. It was too much hassle and I needed a reliable car because my older car got totaled in an accident. This time, they got a brand new AC compressor. It worked for a year. The dealer told me the new compressor had its own guarantee. I told them I wanted to exchange it for different car. He said if it didn’t work, they will do it. They were very nice, so I trusted them. Less than a year later, the AC and car locked again. I took it back. I had enough. This time, they said: Were sorry to inform you. But if you would had come before last week, we could it replace it. But your guarantee on your A/C just expired. Now Im stuck with this piece of **! I keep advising my friends never to buy a Kia ever.

I took my car in 2 months ago. My speedometer had stopped working, was consistently reading 0. In addition my passenger side blinker wasnt working. Also my seat belt had frayed. They checked into it, sent it home with me that day, said the computer didnt see anything wrong with the speedometer so it must be the cluster. We will order one in with your seat belt. 1 week later I received a phone call. My seat belt was in. I didnt want to lose my car twice so I said I would bring it in when the cluster was in too and was told she would get back to me. One month later I take my car in and ask about the cluster. Ive been driving without a speedometer too long. Turns out they needed my car in the shop to ship current cluster away, would have been nice to know! So it took 2-3 days, the rental was great and they said come pick up your car. Its fixed. They changed 3 light bulbs apparently, only the one signal was out though. And it cut in and out so I didnt figure bulbs did that but whatever. And the cluster was changed. I love how no one tested it!!! I was doing 0 on the Hwy home and called them to say its still doing 0 and my blinkers not working. So I had to go back the next day. They said they would look into it and call me. I asked for by 3:30 cause I had to pick up my kids with it or a car. At 3:30 the masters of communication at performance Kia had not yet called so once again I had to call them. A poor lady answered said they need my car to figure it out and the guy had already put me down for a rental. Thanks for telling me. Also thanks for not verifying with enterprise that they had a car. Wound up going through national, once again their customer service was great! Loved the rental. And had it not been for the people at national leaving me a voicemail and text message, I would not have known my car was ready for pick up. And if I got there any later than 4 Id have to pay that day myself (this message was at 2). I realized later I had one single missed call from Kia at 1:02 and no message was left and I dont have my phone on me but was consistently checking my messages! I had to cancel my appointment that is necessary for me to attend every two weeks to have time to get there. I get there they tell my speedometer had stopped working because of my accident. This accident they keep telling me about is me banging up my bumper on a snow bank 1 month after I got the car 2.5 years ago. So tell me how my speedometer runs off my bumper! My ex is a mechanic there is no way that could happen. They are attempting to cover their butts for their faulty wiring after they went through various parts and clusters. Needless to say once more they have sent me home with an unsafe car that they told me was safe and driveable!!! Due to their inability to navigate their own electrical system I now have absolutely no lights on my front driver side (Fog blinker and headlight all out completely illegal!! And it was fine when I brought it there.) and my passenger front blinker is still out. The customer service manager was rude and its impossible to communicate with ** who make it seem like theres never a problem and if it is its your own fault. Currently awaiting Kia Canadas call back because they can have it towed in because Im not getting in an accident because they continuously test life and ability to not get ticketed through their inability to do their jobs and test stuff before they send it home. :( Im just sick of the same problem and cant get anywhere with this! Im at a standstill.

Rating: Poor. When I decided to purchase a 2012 Kia Sorento, I spoke with the dealership several times in order to make it a quick and easy transaction. I spent six hours sitting in the waiting room of the dealership. This should have been my first clue! When I arrived home and reviewed the paperwork, I discovered that instead of taking off the amount of my trade in and downpayment, they added it. I was overcharged $10,000. After contacting the Kia finance department and not getting any answers, just excuses, we contacted the attorney general and our attorney. I feel that I was discriminated against and taken advantage of because I am a woman. I have had nothing but trouble with the vehicle since I got it. The headlights wouldnt shut off and after spending 5 hours at the service center, was told that a part would be there in 2-3 days. They offered to give us a ride home or let us drive the vehicle and continue unhooking the battery each time we parked the vehicle. My husband had to get pretty nasty with them in order for them to give us a loaner car. They stated that they didnt have any, but offered to rent one from a rental company. At that time, I also explained that the headrest had fallen off. They didnt even get that fixed! When I returned to pick up my car, they had to program the keyless remotes, and now they dont work. I would never recommend a Kia to anyone, nor will I ever purchase another one.

Then my air conditioner went out and same no warrant, They said that 2 yrs ago. And now my clutch. My car is only 5 yrs old. And at this time Im at 10005 miles so again they say Im over just 5. In August 2010, I bought a Sorento and a Cadenza, the former was for my wife. On July 3, my wife got involved in a car accident and the insurance company of the other driver is paying up for the damages (he was at fault). I drove the car to the Kia official garage in Salwa on the same day (after completing all formalities). The car suffered damage to both doors on the right and all side airbags opened, plus the drivers seat belt damaged. Well, it is September 13th and the car is still at the garage. Every time I call, they are still ordering parts. Either they are lying or they are totally incompetent. I talked to the manager yesterday. He was very apologetic and said he will call the repair center and come back to me immediately. I am still waiting. The car has clicked 9000km and should have been replaced as it is brand new. I am now planning to get rid of both cars and buy something different (the cars are good but the service is shameful).

I have been car owner for than 18 years in Canada and always owned Toyota. I got KIA Spectra in 2005 from 401 Dixie KIA dealership. Within year, I had a heating problem; it was shutting off and turning on. I took the car to the dealer, and they checked but could not find the reason and sent me back. After a few days, in snow, I was on highway and driving when the heat got dead and I had my family with me. All the way, I was cleaning the windshield from inside with my shirt and got home. The next day, I was very angry and took the car to a dealer, and finally, they replaced the hearing coil. In the next few months, my Speedo meter was starting to jam and becoming normal again. And due to that, I got one speeding ticket and took the car to dealership but they could not find anything, since my warranty was done. My stereo got problems, and my passenger side door glass had issue (It is not working to bring it up or down). Since I got this car, it has the worst electronic problems. I will never advise to buy KIA and will never go back to KIA, and Im hoping that company will check the record for my car and offer to fix it.

I’ve bought three Kia cars. I love the design and price but I’m done with Kia. Two of the cars have had engine problems. One the rod went through the engine (Kia Soul). They replaced it with no problem, gave me a rental car and everything went smoothly. This second one has been painful (Kia Sorento). After months and multiple trips to the dealer because a light was on but they couldn’t find any issue, the car finally stopped working in the middle of rural GA. Because of the pandemic, while they fixed the engine, I had to rent a rental car. Of course it took months, I understand parts etc are issues at this point. But in the almost three months since I’ve had the car back and I’ve had to take the car in for that same light twice with fixes that I’ve had to pay for, I haven’t received my rental reimbursement after submitting the request almost three months ago but they’ve said I went over their daily cap for reimbursement despite the fact I had the lowest tier rental and used a discount code. Note, nowhere in the paperwork or multiple conversations with the dealer and corporate did they say there was a daily cap. And they’re not responding to requests for an update. I’m going to look for a new SUV this weekend. I’m done with Kia!

We will never buy a Kia again. We have a 2011 Sorento and the 100,000 miles or 10 year warranty only applies to the first owner. We bought the car at 1 year old with only about 18,000 miles on it. The second owner warranty is only up to 60,000 miles. The transmission failed a little over that. I started looking and found the Kia Sorento does have a lot of transmission problems. They are fixing some of the 2-wheel drive Sorentos but as of now, not the 4-wheel drive. We took it to the dealer and was told they may do a good faith fix. Of course they came back with a NO. We had no choice but to pay $2400 to fix it. I have also read that people are on their 3rd transmission, so I can see why Kia only guarantees it for 12 months. They know it be break again, so we will sell it very soon. I find this completely unacceptable for a well kept 3 year old vehicle.

Engine recall with a 3 - 5 month wait according to Fucillo Kia. My first issue with my 2017 Kia Sorento was on 9/18/18 when my A/C stopped working and the engine overheated. I brought the vehicle to my dealer. I was informed the head gasket needed to be replaced. It was fine for four months until 1/18/19 when the heater stopped working. I took it to my dealer and then they determined that I needed a new engine. I later found out by the technicians at my dealership that they had 40 vehicles of different models needed new engines. They told me that Hyundai is having the same problems. They had no loaner cars for me so I was drivien to a Hertz rental up the road by a dealer rep. The dealer said the policy of Kia motors allowed to drive the smallest car Hertz had on their lot. It was a Nissan Accent which is smallest car Nissan makes. So basically I’m paying $395 a month for an All Wheel Drive SUV and I get a vehicle that isn’t even close something comparable to what I’m leasing. I’m also in the last year of the lease and I won’t have my car for 3 - 5 months. The dealer won’t let me out of the lease but I have to keep paying for it! I was towed out of my own driveway with only 2 inches of snow on the ground. I’ve filed a consumer Fraud case with the NYS Attorney General’s Office. Nobody at the dealer will help me and the Consumer Affairs Dept at Kia Motors will help either. I’m so disgusted and frustrated. I will never recommend a Kia or Hyundai again.

I am very saddened to know that my motor is causing my car to burn oil so frequent that I am having to add up to a quart a week to make sure that my engine does not lock up on me. I am so upset knowing that as a single mother, I just cannot afford to buy an engine, a motor, nor can I afford to get one fixed. I use my car on a daily basis to transport my children, and for my job. I am planning a move across the country in June and I just do not know what I am going to do. Is there anyway someone from Consumer Affairs can help me get this fixed. My warranty is out because I am over 100,000 miles. I bought an extended warranty upon purchasing the used vehicle. I am aware there are recalls happening with Kia and would like to know if my car qualifies. I am taking a risk everyday on putting my children in that car. I was so upset when I spoke with someone in Consumer Affairs and the only response they gave me was that I better try and hire a lawyer! Please I am begging for someone to help me. After my family and I have been valued customers for years and have purchased a total of seven cars out of the East Tennessee lot, I know that there is something that you all can do. Please help!!!!

I’m a second time ‘Kia lemon vehicle’ purchaser and I have filed a case with the Better Business Bureau. Both vehicles I purchased classify as lemon vehicles because they both came with manufacturing defects that affected my safety. I currently own a 2018 Kia Stinger that has a malfunctioning audio system and is now automatically shutting off while in drive mode. This is the 2nd Kia vehicle that has shut off on me in the middle of traffic, causing a terribly dangerous situation. I have been to the Kia Cumming, GA dealership on 3 separate occasions to address my audio system issue. To be driving a $36,000 vehicle with less than 50k miles and be frightened that my car will shut off in the middle of the highway, AND have to listen to audio system static for every 10-15 seconds FOR 8-MONTHS, is unacceptable.I took my previous Kia vehicle to the dealership on multiple occasions, over a period of years with engine/starting issues, before the engine finally failed. Kia having known that this was an issue, and not doing the right thing to rectify it before I became stranded on the side of the road, was disheartening and should have prevented me from placing faith in the company again. The inconvenience that both vehicles has caused me in continuous Kia service appointments and phone calls, is so ridiculous.Foolishly I remained loyal to the brand, and traded in my previous Kia vehicle for another, only to have the SAME type of concerns arise, engine/transmission issues AND now audio system issues as well. My new vehicle is a gorgeous royal blue Kia Stinger, which causes me to get frequent attention and have questions asked pertaining to the vehicle on a weekly basis. I can honestly tell you that my response when people ask, “How do you like the car” has absolutely changed, and my response is now “DON’T BUY A KIA”!

Powertrain warranty: I have 2006 Kia Spectra 5 with over 80,000 miles. I started to experience slippage and loss of power in the transmission. The car downshifts on its own while driving. And when trying to accelerate the car after stopping the accelerator pedal to the floor, the car does not respond. I took the car to two separate repair shops after calling the warranty company to file a report. The warranty company proceeds to send out an adjuster to inspect the car and proceeds to tell me he did not experience any issue in his test drive. I proceeded to call the warranty company and I am told that they will not fix anything unless it occurs when the adjuster is driving the car. I proceeded to tell them I am starting to think that they do not want to make the repair since the warranty will be ending at 100,000 miles. Is there anything I can do?

I am very disappointed in my Sorento 2011. In 2012, I had trouble with my transmission. The KIA dealership in Waterford did some work on it. It began working better. Now a few weeks ago my battery died on me. I had to purchase a new battery from the dealership. My Bluetooth is not working they told me that the Bluetooth was covered, so they thought it may be the speaker because I could hear the other person but they could not hear me talking to them. They put a new speaker in but the other person still could not hear me. The dealership informed me that I need a new radio because the Bluetooth was a part of the radio and that it is not covered under the warranty. I am pissed. I have 44,000 miles on it.

I traded in 2012 Kia Soul for a 2015 Kia Soul Plus. I got the car in June and I have been listening to the 3 month free promotion of Sirius Radio. I did not even notice that my new Kia has no CD player, until the other day when I went to put in a CD. I was completely shocked. My 2012 Kia did have it and I thought that the CD player was standard. I was not told when I leased this new 2015 Kia that there was no CD player. I feel that the salesman should have pointed that out to me. I am extremely disappointed and now I am looking through stores to see if I can buy a portable one to put in my car. I understand that changes are sometimes made, but a change like this should have been brought to my attention when I leased this car. This is a feature, for me, that is very important.

I brought my car in for 15,000 miles maintenance. Alignment way off; told me they couldnt fix it 100%. I asked why and they said something must be bent. I asked them what? They replied they didnt know. Told me I had recall for front right axle. They had to order the part and would recheck wear on tires to see if their incomplete alignment caused any issues. So about a month later I brought it back in and they said wear was fine, replaced right front axle and I had hope that was the reason the alignment couldnt be fixed 100%. They knew I was going on over 2,000 mile trip for sons wedding. I have no shimmy, although alignment isnt 100%, it still seems to be okay. About 100-150 miles from destination, have EMTs pull up on right side of my car and roll down their window. We roll down ours and they point to my passenger rear tire and then angle their arm. We pull off immediately and sure as heck my passenger rear tire is bent inward at top, around 11 oclock. I drive 50 mph rest of way, check alignment and Im not pulling any worse than before. I call Kia Roadside assistance and they come tow my car to local dealership. They didnt look at my car immediately, but had only had it 2 hours and call me and let me know that my front passenger strut is bent (Why didnt the dealership notice this when they replaced the axle on that side, or when they couldnt correct the alignment 100%). If it took this dealership less than 2 hours to find the bent right strut, why didnt they find it? Why didnt they look. Supposedly going to cost me $680 plus tax to fix (Not under warranty... WHY??). I hit nothing, I ran over nothing. Is this possibly a recall issue, or should be a recall issue and due to strut being bent, it bent my back right tire inward. Supposedly once strut is replaced and car is realigned, my passenger rear tire will straighten out. Im not stupid. Maybe because Im female they think I am, but Ive worked on cars for over 25 years. Im betting that my rear passenger tie rod is bent. I even mentioned it at the dealership, in the service department, but they are adamant that itll be fixed once the strut is replaced and the car is realigned. They have already said that they could tell I didnt run over or hit anything, so why am I paying out of pocket anyway? Isnt it supposed to be under warranty? If the tie rod is bent, isnt that the fault of the dealership that did my original alignment and told me that they thought something might be bent, but didnt look for it? Then again when they replaced the passenger front axle (recall) and didnt notice it and still couldnt get it aligned? Shouldnt they pay for this? Im frustrated and angry, first for them treating me like Im stupid because Im a girl and girls dont know anything about cars... BS, and then when Im suggesting itll be more than just the strut, telling me that Im not qualified (another way to say that Im a girl and girls dont know anything about cars) to think that..... And they are the experts, yet they didnt even look for what they thought was bent. I mean they literally said we think something is bent and then didnt look for it. Whats wrong with that picture? Annoyed, from California and Stuck in Illinois until my car is fixed!!!

I will start off with what everyone is thinking when reading these... Yes, I am only writing this because I am angry and if my experience was just normal I would probably not write anything, but they earned this. I am currently going through the passing of my mom and all the challenges that come with it. I returned her leased car 2 months early, even though she has multiple letters offering her deals to bring her car back early because it is in demand. Then I receive the bill in the mail weeks later advising she owes $950 for returning the car early and $65 for wear and tear which just seems made up. I attempted to discuss with them, but they said they would not talk to me if I am not on the account. I got the email to send the proof of what happened and sent in what was necessary. I sent it 3 times without any action. I called and finally got the one helpful person to help me with submitting these documents. A few days later I got a letter saying sorry for my loss and asking me what I plan on doing with the car. How is this not a joke? They had the car for over a month. I submitted a complaint to Kia America and after passing the 48 hour waiting period, I heard nothing. I just submitted an updated complaint as I just got another letter in the mail for my mom, thanking her for returning her car and another bill, as if they never interacted with me before. I guess they are playing ignorant to get to the strategy of what one of their workers said, Why dont you just ignore it for 120 days and then it will just go to collections. Thank you Kia, thank you for absolutely no help and adding more stress to the most stressful and sad time of my life.

This is the first brand new car I ever bought. I bought it because I was sick of always having to fix my used car. I wrongly assumed I would not have this problem with a new car. I bought it in October. The acceleration sticks on gear change, but I didnt want to spend my life in the shop (again) so I deal with it. When summer hit, I found out the AC didnt work. I scheduled a service time. The guy on the phone was a bit rude but I chalked it up to him probably having a bad day. They dye the AC and tell me to come back in a week. Its still blowing cold, but I bring it back as requested. They cannot find the issue, so they send me on my way. Two weeks later, its blowing hot air again. I have to go back. This time they tell me the hose is broken and replace it. It took them 3 days to replace a single hose. While I am grateful I received a car to drive in the meantime, it was the most disgusting pile of garbage I had ever had the displeasure of driving. Whoever had previously owned this vehicle did not in any way take care of it. After day 3 of calling and waiting for the car to be fixed, I drove over to the dealership after work and vowed to wait until they took care of it, regardless how long it took. I walked in and they asked if I was there to pick up my car. They never bothered to call me.Today I had a flat tire. No spare in the trunk, which I had foolishly thought would be standard for every vehicle. I called the dealership and was told to call roadside assistance, which was free. Okay, fair enough, but if the tire cant be fixed, I cant afford to buy a new one right now, so I dont know if thats a good idea. I was blown off (same guy as earlier, still rude so obviously not just a bad day thing) and told to just call roadside assistance and go from there. I was also told that tires were not covered under the warranty, which was the only question he bothered to answer. Of course they arent. In all, because I did not have a spare tire, it took me 6 hours and a total loss of days wages to get a flat tire fixed, and surprise! Its covered under warranty. So not only was the guy rude, but he lied to me too. I have become more acquainted with the service staff at Kia in the last 9 months than I was with my mechanic in the last two years of my used car. I bought a new car to avoid that.I am very dissatisfied with Kia and their customer service. I requested a manager when I got there, to discuss the issue of the rude representative, and he never once showed his face in the time I was waiting for my car to be fixed. Because of that, I came here to post a public review instead of keeping the issue between me and the manager.

I purchased a new 2011 Sorento against my better judgment, knowing a first year production is always problem prone. But I have had purchased many Hyundais in the past, and was used to great service, and knowing its the same company, I expected the same quality (WRONG). Coleman Kia in Ewing NJ has the most lying area manager and service department in the nation. They charge repairs to Kia, that they never repair, or even look at. Case at point: Ive had a bad door rattle in the passenger side door since purchase. Ive had the vehicle in for service for 5 times and the repair was charged but never done. The last time, I placed tape under the door to know rather, or not the door panel was opened. And guess what the service manager stated? The door was repaired but the tape was never touched. Enough said. Never, ever, again, would I ever purchase another Kia. My door still annoying like a rattle snake. But how does Kia allow itself to be continued to be ripped off. I would like to still have my door repaired, only 40,000 miles.

2016 Kia Soul. 23500k miles on it... engine started making a noise while accelerating slowly. Checked the oil. It was low but in serviceable area of dipstick. Checked for leaks, including checking the filter. Took it to the dealer and the check engine light came on for the first time. Dealership is now saying that the oil filter was loose and all of the oil leaked out. The oil was not changed at the dealership so this is their tried and true way of denying the warranty. They used to void the warranty outright if the change was not at the deal but now they say the part failed. This car has been to the dealer two times for oil related issues. The first time oil was leaking after they changed it and they blamed the drain plug failing. Before I took it in that time I checked and the plug was loose. Of course this was covered under warranty because they messed up but would not admit it. This time, they blame the filter and claim oil was all over the underside of the car. ODD!! I was under the car to check it 20 minutes before it was in the deal ship and there were no leaks found?? Now the outcome is a blown engine that Kia blames on faulty service. Dont touch them.

To start my fiance was driving her car and the motor seized on her on a major highway. Called the dealership. They told her the towing company they used was busy so she would have to sit on the side of the road in the summer in Mississippi for 3 hours. I got her car towed to our house from a friend of mine. We finally get Kia to tow the car to the dealership, come to find out there was a recall on the motors for this reason. Never once did we get anything in the mail for it. We got it there Friday morning, here it is Monday afternoon and all they know is what I told them and that is that it needs a new motor. They told us it would be 3 days for the kia tech line to approve the motor. So we are gonna be without a car for 3 days if not longer. I called kia customer service they said the same. After asking for a supervisor they told me that it would take 24 to 48 hours for the supervisor to contact me back. Overall this will be the last kia I ever own. Just a bunch of crooks who messed up and now dont want to pay for it.

The sub frame collapsed and the axle snapped while she was driving. The front tire was forced into the bumper of the car damaging the tire along with the fender. Upon research a sub frame recall SC075.a rep. It took over 3 weeks to get approval for the recall repair, then another 10 days to get all of the proper paperwork completed and the car was towed to a local dealership by Kia for the repair. Parts were ordered repair completed about 10 more days. When the recall was finished, we were told the car needed additional repairs we were overcharged by about $350 by the dealership. Per advice of our family mechanic we arranged to have the car towed by AAA to his garage. I arrived at the dealership to find that the tire and the damage to the body of the car had not been fixed. In addition, the car had been sideswiped! The passenger side door, rear view mirror all damaged. Dealer says it arrived that way blaming the tow truck contracted by Kia did the damage. I dont know if it was the tow truck or our local dealership caused the damage. When our mechanic did the repairs he noticed the dealership never screwed on the bolts that hold in the sub fame. I was told to send pictures to KIA National Services. I sent the requested pictures with no response. Two weeks have passed no response.

My 2014 Kia Sportage has had the same engine issue 4 times, forcing it to go into limp mode and has requiring a tow. Kia has assured us that it was fixed each time. This last time it happened 200 miles away, forcing me to drive out to pick up my wife. After the issue was fixed, we attempted to drive it back home only to have the same issue happen a mile down the road. Now Kia is refusing to provide us with a rental car during the time that the vehicle is being transported back to us, which could take up to 10 days. We have a 2013 Kia Sorento we bought in 2012. Last year my wife informed me 3 different times that when she would back out into traffic after picking our children up from day care, the SUV would stall. It was inspected by Kia a few times. They were not able to find anything wrong. They took out the electric starter thinking that was the problem and put a new one in. We had no issues until this year when my wife backed out and almost was rear-ended. I went in to Kia and spoke to the manager where we bought the Kia. They informed me that they dont know what the problem is. They are not able to reenact the stalling, so nothing happens. What is frustrating is I called Kia Canada and all they can do for us is Record the issues that I have had, nothing else. What is it going to take, for my wife to back out into traffic and be rear-ended after the Kia stalls? I have a 3 and 7 year olds still in car seats. As a Father and husband, my blood boils to think that they have no idea what is causing this which puts my family in imminent risk. And having a factory warranty that is no good to me? My family is everything to me. I feel trapped as I cannot afford to lose 10 to 12 thousand dollars if I sell. I cannot justify selling the vehicle to someone else as I cannot, nor will be responsible if the vehicle stalls and someone gets hurt or worse, killed. So I pray!!!

Fast forward to November 2019 really cold night into the morning, my car wouldnt start again. It was towed to the local service center. They had it in the shop a total of 2 and 1/2 days and they still werent able to find the problem. This is a problem that Kia needs to step in and remedy. I bought a Kia Sorento based on their claims of safety and all the airbags they have. In Dec I was in an unfortunate accident. Luckily my children were not in the vehicle. I was hit from all sides by multiple vehicles. NOT ONE AIR BAG deployed. The passenger side doors were on the seats and the frame between the front and back seats was split in half (right where there is an airbag). Kia said that in this situation the airbags are not designed to deploy when hit in that fashion. So they are claiming no fault. The vehicle was totaled. If Kia is so safe with all their airbags and I was T-boned and hit from all sides then what type of situation do you have to be hit in in order for them to deploy. DO NOT TRUST THEM.

It is the most comfortable and easiest to maintain and handle. The body and interior are well crafted and even after almost 6 years of use are still in almost pristine condition. I was the owner of a 2018 Kia Sorento. Upon getting close to the end of my lease, I went to the dealership Smithtown Kia on Long Island, NY. Between mileage and remaining payments, part of the deal/contract for exchanging the 2018 Sorento for a new 2020 Kia Optima is that the remaining balance on the Sorento would be paid off by the dealership. The check for the remaining balance (in excess of $2,600.00) was sent by the dealership upon closure of the deal in February 2020. In August of the same year I received a notification from Transunion (one of the major credit bureaus) that a reported missed payment in the amount of the payoff had been reported by Kia Motors Finance. What Kia neglected to do was send the letters claiming I owed them this money to the address listed when I got the 2020 Optima (my current address), not the address I lived in upon the lease of the 2018 Sorento.I was left in the dark about it due to their negligence to send letters to the right address informing me of their negligence to handle a contracted pay off properly. I checked my credit score which at the time of the deal back in February was well over 800. What happened to my credit score was more than just a drop in the bucket. The drop my credit had experienced put me in a terrible position with my mortgage lender during a refinance that was taking place at the same time frame I found out about this remaining balance on a vehicle I no longer owned nor was legally financially responsible for due to the terms of the balance being the responsibility of the dealership to pay off. I called the dealership right away and they claimed they had sent the check. They sent me a tracking number where the check was sent via Fedex. I looked into the tracking number and the check was signed for by Kia Finance that it had been received.I called Kia Finance. After waiting unbelievable amounts of time to speak with someone, they requested that I send them a picture of the front and back of the check that the dealership had sent them for the pay off. So they wanted a picture of a check they already physically received, yes you read that right. I called the dealership and got the run around for 4 days before they found it and sent it to me via email. Mind you, every day that goes by I am building a terrible mountain of late days on my credit regarding this pay off. Once I received the picture of the front and back of the check I called Kia Finance again where they gave me an email to forward the picture of the check. I sent the email twice in the same day. I called the next day and they put me on hold for 45 minutes only to tell me that I had to wait an additional 2 days before they could find and review the email with the picture attached.I waited 2 days and called back. When I got someone on the phone they put me on hold for 2 straight hours before I lost my patience and gave up. I called the next day and they had me on the phone for an hour before they found the email. Once they found the email the lady on the phone said she was sending it over to payment processing which would take another 3 days. Yes, another 3 days. I waited the 3 days and called back. I got a lady on the phone whom I explained the whole situation to. She puts me on hold to review the situation and once again never gets back to me. I waited on hold for almost a half hour before I gave up again. I have the background music for being on hold with Kia etched into the bad memory bank of my brain. I called back right away where the next lady proceeded to tell me that she needed to review the situation and asked if I would hold for 2 to 3 minutes.I lost it at this point and started pointlessly yelling at them because Im a human being thats been completely pushed to the limit. Finally after over 2 weeks of this horrible experience I get a payment processing person on the phone that seemed interested in helping. But in the end, Ive been instructed I need to wait another 3 days before theyll know anything else. Im literally fighting against the credit bureaus clock because of this company due to absolutely no fault of my own.As I wrote this review I have literally been on hold upon the resolution of the last call I explained for over 26 minutes. I have no hope or feeling of resolution to this awful situation these people have put me in. Gross customer negligence and incompetence that has cost me my financial health. Something needs to be done whether Im the only person this has happened to or whether its happened to multiple people. Its unethical, its immoral, its life altering. I dont know what else to do. I will never get a Kia ever again.

I just bought a 2012 Kia Sorento in February. It started giving me problems. It stopped all of a sudden when I stopped in a stop sign and the engine was shut off. Two days ago, I was about to drive to work and when I went to the garage and sat in the van, it started but the gear wouldnt move as it was locked. I called the dealer and they told me to call the tow truck and get it towed to the dealership. They towed the van to the dealer, and the next day the guy from the service department called. This dealer is located in Avalon Blvd in Carson. He told me that both the engine and the computer are full of water like a swimming pool. How? I just took the car to the drive-through car wash a few times since I bought it. They told me that the warranty does not cover and I have to pay $1600 to get it fixed. When we first bought the car they lied to us that anything doesnt matter - big or small issues, the warranty is going to cover - and now they dont want to cover. I will never ever recommend anyone to Kia Carson or any other Kia dealer. It’s a bad experience that I have ever had.

This would result into safety issues if involved in a crash.

Musty smell started coming through vents. Saw a video to change cabin filter which I did. No better. Took it to Kia of Greer for a check and MOLD was growing in the A/C lines. Was told I need to let more fresh air in and not use the air circulating button so much. I got online and consumers from 2010 are complaining about the same problem. So we are breathing MOLD? Kia needs to be held responsible for the design of the A/C unit and where water is standing. This is a health hazard! PLEASE fix KIA!!!!

The check engine came on, so I took to it Kia/Carson on Thursday. I was advised on Friday that the catalytic converter is bad. Needed my service records in order to see if they will cover. The car has only 66,474 miles and should be covered under Federal Emissions Warranty. When I called to confirm what code was coming up, they advised P0430. It is now the following Wednesday and are denying because I cannot provide further service records. Now, they are telling me that other codes came up which I believe they are reading those same codes that was on my last service record provided only 2,000 miles earlier. My husband went into the dealer to talk to the service manager and he decided not to get off his phone call and come out of his office to meet and discuss. He has still not returned our calls. This is not the first issue I have had with my car. I will never buy a Kia again, nor should anyone else. They do not stand behind their product and are not consumer friendly. I’m a very dissatisfied consumer.

05 Sorento - Ive replaced the crankshaft sensor twice now, and its not in need of a 3rd sensor. The dealership says its out of warranty since it is 4 months past the 12-month date. Ive also replaced the transmission once, the headlights 6 times, the ball joints twice, & I still have vibrations in the rear end from the transmission! Ive contacted consumer affairs (which did nothing); they gave me a complaint number and said thanks. Ive filed a complaint with BBB, and now I am not sure what to do with this POS car.

Rear shocks were leaking - I had to replace rear tires, car has 56k miles. Kia says Kias 60k warranty or 5-year warranty is void because 15 wheels were changed to 17 and car wasnt build for 17 wheels and tires (give me a break). I asked several tire shops. All said tires were ruined because of defective leaking shocks, not the size of wheels or tires.

I own a 2013 KIA Rio Ex. I had many problems with the car. I always take it in to get the routine repairs, oil changes, brakes etc. One day on a really cold day my rear brakes locked up on the road (wheels dragging on the road), thankful that it happened on the side road. Had to get it towed to dealership and getting that call to say that it was my problem, cost me 539 dollars to fix and it took them a week to get the parts for the car. Since Feb 2014 I have spent 1400 dollars in repairs with a car still under warranty. It has also has had problem with the UVO system going for a 3rd unit tomorrow. Stay away from KIAs they are garbage.

I bought my car in 2013. With it brand new, it had 25 miles on the car. There were issues from the beginning. Every time I took my car into a Kia dealer with a shop to look at my car they always said theres no problem. One of the last times I took it in they found it, my sub-frame was so loose that it was so surprising that I didnt get into an accident. I had a tear in my driveshaft boot, and a few other electrical problems. (They were all fixed after a year of driving the car.) Now this is why Im writing this review. I was in an accident in January 2015 (other persons fault). Her insurance worked really fast to get a payoff check to Kia. They got the check on February 28, 2015. It is now April 16, 2015 and they still have NOT processed the check and applied it to my account so I can get everything else taken care of. I dont understand how a HUGE car dealer has not processed this check and every time I call to find out whats going on and why they havent they say the same thing, WE DIDNT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH IT. What how in the world do they not know what to do with it. Its been 2 months since theyve had this check and again every time I call and have to explain AGAIN, they tell me the same thing Itll be processed in 5 to 7 business days. I am so disappointed with this car company. I will never refer anyone to them nor will I ever go back through them again.

My car was booked in for a noise in the engine on 3rd Nov 2015. Heard nothing for 2 days even after leaving numerous messages as the lady dealing with it was either away from her desk, on a call or busy with other clients. Eventually got a call late Wednesday afternoon advising that they needed to strip the crankshaft which would cost R2300.00. I advised that I would check with my husband and call them back. When attempting to call them back late Wed afternoon no one answered the phone. I then received a call Thursday pm to confirm that could go ahead with the job. I confirmed it was okay. I heard nothing on Friday and when phoning Friday pm, none of my calls were returned. By now I was extremely peed off. I eventually got my husband to go to Kia Tokai to check on the progress of my vehicle. When he arrived the ladys attitude was, Why have you come to see your vehicle? He was then shown the problem with the vehicle and the mechanic explained what needed to be done, we were offered 2 options costing R3700 or R20 000. We agreed to the R3700. Were then told the parts could only be ordered from JHB on the Monday 9th. We then received no update on our car at all. I then tried to speak to the manager of Kia Tokai who was in a meeting when I called at 9 am on Thursday. 12th Nov. I called throughout the morning and left 3 messages in total. He never returned any of my calls. Eventually the service manager called me to enquire what my complaint was. I explained the whole story to him and he was going to check on my car and call me back. Surprise, surprise he did not call back. I eventually called him again at 3:30 pm. This is what I was then told: yes the part had arrived but did I not know that it can take 3-4 days for a part to arrive? How would I know this? They now need to check if the part is compatible with my vehicle, come on, get real. Do you not know what part to order? I must be patient and wait because while my car has been at their workshop they have booked other cars in as well which will be worked on first, dont I realise that the job on my car is a big one. How would I know this, I am not a mechanic. Am I not a client? Are some clients given special treatment? Yes my car is not under warranty anymore (was bought from this branch in April 2012) but I am a paying customer. By this time I was fed up and asked to speak to the manager again. I was put through to reception, who advised me to pls hold as he was on a call. I was placed on hold 3 times. The service manager then came onto the phone saying the manager was in a meeting and if my car could not be fixed by close of business Friday 13th then they would organise a car for me to use. What rubbish! I feel that I was put on hold so that the service manager could speak to the manager first. Was he really on a call or in a meeting because reception says his on a call and the service manager says he is in a meeting. What kind of manager does not take responsibility for his workshop and staff?Yes I understand that parts come from JHB, yes I understand that some jobs take time, but is it not possible for a person to keep a client updated as to what is happening to their car especially if it takes 11 days without a result. It is now 2:30 pm on Friday 13th November and to date no car, no call! Would never take my car back there again (if & when I get it back). Would never recommend Kia Tokai to anyone as I would not want them to have to endure such incompetence.

I have owned 2 Kia Souls in the past 4 years. The first car had some paint problems in that a lot of chipping was going on and not only around the wheels. There was paint chipping on the sides and at the top of the roof. We dont live on a gravel road nor do we drive on any gravel roads, when I took the car in for this, keeping in mind that this is the 2010 model with 83000 km. The dealership took some pictures and sent them in to Kia for the ok to go ahead and fix the problem. Kia gave them the go ahead and we got our car repainted. The new paint on the car was considerably better, in fact we had no real chipping and as the body guy said it was because there was actually some paint on the car.We traded this car in for a 2012 Kia Soul and now are facing the same problem. The difference is that I actually installed mud flaps on this car when I got it home and it is worse than the first car, in fact at the back wheel there is no paint at all and the car has surface rust developing on about a 4 area. Showing this to the dealer, they went through the same procedure of taking pictures and submitting them to Kia, this time the verdict was different. They are not going to cover the paint work. They are not going to paint the car. I have called Kia Customer service and awaiting a call back.

My wife and I purchased this 2011 Kia Soul PLUS Pre-Owned from a dealership
My wife and I purchased this 2011 Kia Soul PLUS Pre-Owned from a dealership in San Juan Capistrano (Ocean Kia) in July of 2013 and we did not get any additional Warranty except for the 60-day warranty that this car came with. Yesterday, 9/08/2014, my wife was sitting in her car in a parking lot for no more than 20 Minutes, parked, parking brake ON, AC on as well. The vehicle then started to Shake like something in the engine was happening. My wife then turned off the vehicle and tried turning the vehicle back on... Nothing happened. The car had power still and the ignition was making the clicking sound of trying to start but to no avail. My wife let the car rest for about 4 hours before trying to start the car again and this time it started, so she started driving. She made it onto the freeway and started driving home THEN the car lost power to the engine and the steering became difficult and she was able to coast to the emergency lane and called me HYSTERICAL and said her car had shut down! The car would not start for another 5 minutes, turned back on, and she was able to exit the freeway to a Park and Ride type of parking lot... While pulling into the Park and Ride THE CAR STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP THIS TIME AND SHUT OFF AGAIN AND WOULD NOT GET OUT OF PARK AFTER IT DIED. My wife hadnt even made it to a parking spot yet.THE CAR DIDNT TURN BACK ON AGAIN AND EVERYTHING, ALL POWER TURNED OFF. STEERING WHEEL STILL LOCKED. I told her about using the Shift lock release and, while the car was still off, putting the car into drive and then back to park and try to start it again and it did. She was able to get the car into a safer spot and left it there. I read about that trick in a forum... But no reason for why or how, haha. We are out of our warranty BUT THIS ISNT A WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE and We dont know what to do. We have regular maintenance done and we take care of the car and I know that These Souls, even the 2014, have had similar issues. It sucks because these are fun cars to drive BUT apparently have issues.

I have a 2015 Kia K 900. It was 8 months since I purchased from Kia Escondido, I had about 5k miles on it when I was hit on the driver side at the rear quarter panel/back passenger door. I was pushed into a center divide and my entire front Qtr Panel and front end was demolished. NOT 1 AIRBAG DEPLOYED!! I called Kia and their engineers went out to study/test/read the circuit board to get all logistics at time of impact. They went to investigate the car more than once (car was at the auto body shop) and Kia would not release the car to been inspected by my Mercury Insurance to assess damage. The car sat at Tag Collision center for 51 days before they let Mercury assess the damage. The car was totaled out by Mercury and the engineers from Kia said that the airbags did not deploy because there were not enough factors involved for them to deploy. I personally was more concerned that considering where and how I was hit that if I had passengers in the back seat that there would have been skulls hitting the door window (place of impact). I figured that Kia would want to know in case they needed to do a recall on the K 900s to protect lives in future accidents. Kia did not allow me to see the report or tell me exactly what factors were involved to as why the airbags did not deploy. But the whole thing raised a red flag when they kept telling Mercury that the car was not ready to be inspected??? Im just a puzzled and concerned consumer who received no answers but instead a big storage bill from Tag Collision, no thanks to Kias control of when Mercury Insurance could do their job in a timely manner. Kia offered to sell me another K 900 but I just cant considering I would not feel safe or maybe be as lucky to escape injury if I were to get into another accident where if the airbags did not deploy and was extremely hurt instead of protected. This is for Kia to take notice and for there to be a record that Kia not only knew of this airbag situation but that there was an investigation done and a report on file (just in case there are future issues with consumers regarding this topic).

I am writing in disgust at the way you extort money from Kia owners for services. I have the most basic Kia Picanto you can find, it is a three cylinder with no extraordinary features. In fact I would class it as a “Tin Pot” car. I purchased it second hand last year and since new in 2012, it has only done 22000 and three thousand miles this year with me. I chose your car for only two reasons: 1. It falls under the category of no Road Tax. 2. It is a small engine which means lower costs. AS I AM A PENSIONER COST IS IMPORTANT TO ME.You advertise that you give a Free Seven Year Warranty in all your adverts, which I found out too late is incorrect when I needed to put it through a service, which is a stipulation to keep the warranty. And your KIA garage in Bedford, quoted me a staggering £300 plus for the service, where I could get a Tin Pot car like this one serviced for £100 from my professional mechanic, who works in the trade and for a reputable garage that I have dealt with for over twenty years, or another VAT garage for £150.This suggests that your Warranty is not free and you are tricking vulnerable customers into buying your vehicles expecting good customer care and service. This is disgraceful and unethical and deceitful!!! It would be better to state that in order to have the Seven year Warranty, one has to purchase it on an annual basis and all your prospective customers would be prepared and either buy your cars or go elsewhere and not commit to this daylight robbery by overcharging innocent customers. Where is your Moral conscience and Honesty?

I owned a 2016 Sorento. On May 12, 2019 it inexplicably caught fire. It was towed to the dealership where it was purchased and the service department immediately took responsibility after inspection and since it was still under warranty they were about to begin repairs. Later that day, I was called by the Kia corporation in California (I live in Texas) and asked to give my oil change records. I normally dont keep my records and only had a few, but 2 of the last 3 had been at the dealership and the dealership had just done my Texas inspection 3 weeks prior to this. About 4 days later, Kia called and said that they would not cover the cost of repairs because I didnt have enough recorded oil changes. Our insurance couldnt pay because it was also determined by them to be a mechanical defect that was Kias fault. It was not anywhere in my warranty handbook (or any of their handbooks) that I was supposed to keep my records. I asked the lady (Ashley) about that and she said that it was implied. My father in law is a mechanic and sometimes changes our oil and his too. I wasnt sure why that oil changes would even matter if a vehicle caught fire. I am 51 years old and I have paid off and traded in multiple vehicles including 3 Kias. I owed over $9,000 on this Kia which I had to roll into my next car because the repairs were going to be $11,000. (New engine-minimal body damage).I have been blessed that this did not cripple us financially; but if we were younger and still struggling, it could have destroyed us. One of the reasons that I had purchased the Kias was because of the 10 year warranty. I feel that Kia was looking for any way to get out of their responsibility to pay. Kias own service department had already taken responsibility. It is most disheartening that some segments of society have turned to this. Needless to say I will never purchase another Kia again and if you do, be cautious on the warranty. They are not a trustworthy company at the corporate level. Since our incident, I read in consumer reports of over 290,000 other Kias spontaneously catching fire. I will continue my disagreement by bringing a lawyer into it.

2017 Sorento engine seized in October of 2018. Vehicle is sitting at the Cooper Kia dealership in NY. Rewind. Vehicle had a slight knocking sound. Husband calls dealership and states that oil change was already scheduled following day and they say bring it up on Monday as it was Friday. Oil change completed and drove car home. A while later went to run errands and horrible loud knocking at this point. Call Kia and they say, Drive it up to us. Um ok. Not even 5 mile out of my home city and the freaking car dies on the highway, my husband driving and me following. Had a hard time getting it off to the shoulder and waited for roadside. Kia calls following week and says they need maintenance records before they will inspect. Faxed them over right away and charge me to take the valve cover off. Then then say engine needs to be replaced at my cost! No way!Under warranty with 32,000 miles. Kia said that oil changes were not legit. They said that because the VIN number not on the receipt, no good. So I argued the fact that the license number on all receipts could be traced to DMV to verify. Duh. Back and forth arguing and they finally decide they will honor warranty engine replacement but my husband has to pay for labor about 1,000. Uh ok. 9 months have passed and engine on backorder.Call in every month to see status and no one really knows. Kia consumer affairs had the third now rep that just called to see what’s going on. Really? You’re calling us. Billy from Kia consumer says that it doesn’t look like the engine will be in by the time the lease is up. So I’m paying for a vehicle and carrying full insurance that I haven’t driven in 9 months. He proceeds to have us contact KMF and the dealership to try and get out of the lease. We’ve asked to get out of the lease several times and denied. KMF said, Don’t call and ask us as it is solely up to Kia and the dealership. Ridiculous runaround and fed up with the terrible lies.Received a campaign letter about software issue and knocking engines to update in February. Maybe if the stinking sensor worked and warned people beforehand they could fix issues before disaster strikes. Or perhaps stop making the darn crappy engines and blaming consumers. What a disappointment. Husband went up to get plates off vehicle last week. Contacted BBB and attorney general. We shall see. I don’t want this SUV back. Never buy a Kia and don’t let them convince you that it’s your fault. FYI number 4 cylinder misfire code and crankshaft misaligned. Kia, your engines suck and you know it. With all the lawsuits and recalls, don’t be surprised if they go belly up in the industry. Awful experience.

I had complained about an issue with my car that arose a few months after purchasing my Sorrento and they kept insisting it was nothing for over a year and then kept my car for a month where it sat unworked on for two weeks to fix it. I was lied to several times and as compensation they offered me three oil changes. They went out of business before I even needed my first oil change and now Kia is saying they cant do anything about the promise made to me by a specific dealer. Purchased a 2011 Kia Sorrento brand new (less than 100 miles on it) in August of 2014. Went to bring it in for a simple camera replacement that would be covered under the 5 year/60k warranty, only to find out that the warranty started back in 2011 when the car was placed on the lot. So by the time I purchased the car, there were only 2 years left of the warranty unbeknownst to me (even though they sold me the car as new --certainly not a demo). Conveniently no one is able to resolve this issue -- hitting a wall with kiaconsumeraffairs, and the dealership is just not helpful altogether. This is my second Kia, and will now be my last. A lot of headache over a quick repair. Curious if all dealerships do this to lessen the chance of someone making a claim under the warranties -- have them all start prior to the car being sold.

The buying process of my 2016 Kia Sorento was great! I bought at Ourisman Kia of Chantilly in VA. I bought a brand new vehicle despite the fact that I absolutely LOVED my paid off 2002 Chevy Tahoe. It was giving me a lot of maintenance issues so I hesitantly said Ill buy new and save on repairs. All was great up until 5 months of having the car. It shut off on me twice out of nowhere. Both at red lights. I took it in for the scheduled oil change and so that this issue could be taken care of as well. The first response was We cant seem to find the issue. Would you like to take it home or leave it. Well of course I chose to leave it. A week went by no word other than they had to wait to get something back from Kia. After a month of being in a rental the matter was resolved. They had to replace the intake manifold (yes on a brand new car). 8 months later the car was acting up again. It would not accelerate and made a terrible noise along with rough idling. I took it in twice both times the dealer could not duplicate the problem so they couldnt do anything and I had to pick up or be charged for the loaner. All oil changes had been up to date via this same service shop. The car failed on me again a third time, I had it towed and after emails and text to the GM and service manager they were able to duplicate the issue. The ECM was then replaced (the car is a little over a yr at this point). I stressed again and again that I did not feel safe in this car. I am a single mother of 4 and work my butt off for a reliable vehicle and this vehicle was not it! I questioned if I had not been sold a lemon and that issue needed to be addressed. However both the GM and SM assured all was well now. I went on a 3 wk road trip right after this last visit at the end of June. Thankfully I made it problem free on my trip. But on my way home from NC on 7/24 the car overheated with no warning indications whatsoever. I was able to pull over to the shoulder before it just cut off on me. It was towed yet again (not even a month later) to the nearest dealer in NC. They have no idea why it overheated. Why so much work has needed to be done to such a new vehicle and informed me that the motor will probably need to be replaced. WHAT!!! I am so sick of this car and the dealer not caring at all that it was faulty from the start. I will be taking this up with an attorney and recommend not to buy KIA. I have been covered by its good warranty yes but that doesnt cover the safety of my kids or I. As far as the mechanics of the vehicle and the customer service when problem arise this purchase was not worth it!!

I drive a Kia Mohave. Bought new 4 years ago. About to clock 100,000 km. Woke up this morning, with my wife and driver to find the car totally shut down. The dashboard, everywhere where there is some light was blinking. The car did not respond to the remote key. The manual key did also not work. Thus we couldnt have access to the car to pick our things. We are 100 km out of Lagos, where we normally reside and we are obviously stranded. I tried to check whether Kia Nigeria has emergency number. I found none.

Recently our daughter left the overhead and parking lights on overnight, draining the battery. Normally that would not have been a big deal. However, the car was parked in a carport and COULD NOT be moved out of it to get a jump start because the car could NOT be taken out of Park into Neutral!!! It took about a dozen calls to find a service station that had a portable jump system to come out and get the 2014 Kia Sorento started, causing my wife to miss a doctors appointment.

After purchasing 40k car, I did not receive customer service that I expected. My concerns (edge guards) were ignored by service three times, sales manager failed to make sure all my issues were settled. My new car experience was ruined, and I still feel unappreciated.

The little door on my gas cap will not open. I took it to the garage 3 times now. The first time the garage just bent it. The second time they ordered a new door. The third time they just bent it again.Today, on my way home, I was almost on E and of course, my gas door would not open. It is very frustrating to have a car that you are not able to put gas in. I am requesting the Kia dealer to purchase a new gas door for my car, but this time, to give me a door that also has a key entry so I do not get stranded.

Our 2012 Sorento was serviced by the KIA service department where we bought the car. We were driving in town at 35 mph when the engine just stopped. The engine had no warning lights and no noises. We luckily were near a parking lot and were able to coast in. Called the KIA service to receive the car and diagnose the problem. They tell us the main engine bearing failed and we will need a new engine. If this is a problem KNOWN to KIA, they should replace the engine for us. At no cost. We had a Subaru Forester for 260,000 miles with absolutely no engine problems! I think this needs more investigation.

I had the worst experience having a Kia car. This was my first time I chose Kia because I liked the car that I was going to lease. The previous two cars that I drove were Toyota and they never ever gave me problems that usually an older car gives (one Problem on top of another). Imagine you trust the company, you get a brand new car thinking that “hey it’s a new car. I’m not going to have all the problems that old cars give and then one day you wake up, your car is not starting, the next day brake lights don’t work, the following week another problem comes up.And my car was a 2018 car and it’s 2019 now and then you call them. They keep transferring you to different departments not willing to take responsibility and ownership that you could be that one in a 1 million customers that had all these different problems with the car and maybe we can take care of you somehow. I would NOT recommend getting a Kia if you want to lease a NEW car. It was my first experience and the worst one and when you know the company doesn’t want to take responsibility for it, it’s even worse and not worth your time or your money!!!

My lease expired a few weeks ago. I owed money for the mileage. I tried to pay it online and it told me it would not allow me to pay my mileage through my online account. Which seems very odd to me but I called the number was on hold a longtime continually listening to the same message telling me to go online which was very annoying. I get a lady on the phone whos reading me verbatim all these things acting like Im a year overdue when in fact Im not late at all on this payment. Shes telling me shes trying to collect a debt. Im trying to nicely to interrupt her and tell her I know thats why Im calling to pay my bill. She proceeded to tell me how rude I was being and that Im not letting her finish. There was nothing to finish, I was not past due so she needed to stop treating me like I have poor credit. I tried to pay the mileage with my credit card which they said they cannot accept a credit card payment. Which to me money is money it should not matter. They are not willing to work with you. They are not willing to be friendly. I have never been a day late on a 3.5 year lease. I would stay away from Kia Finance at all costs. If I would have known what I know now I would have gone through my own bank. Do not buy a Kia.

My elderly grandparents KIA Rondo just threw the connecting rods at 123,000
My elderly grandparents KIA Rondo just threw the connecting rods at 123,000 kms. Garage said its the 7th KIA they have had in within a year with similar low kilometer shot engines. Contacted KIA customer relations to see if this is a known flaw and all they had to say (paraphrased) was you had a warranty for 100,000 kms, so we fulfilled our obligations. Has anyone else had a car that was essentially useless after only 120,000 kms? Looks like I am headed back to the domestics, I cant fathom wasting money on a new car that will be useless that fast.

Got this car in a lease in 2017 from a very bad Kia dealership in Fort Walton Beach Florida. Continuously kept up with oil changes. The rear tail light on the driver side malfunctioned or I had to replace it twice because the seal was not staying sealed. Then I’d PCS to Hawaii 105 thousand miles. And with no notification the car stops running. Take it to the dealership and they said, Oh well I’m sorry. You’re 5000 miles over the warranty. So there’s nothing that I can do. It’s $15,000 for a new motor. Very discouraging From dealership and Kia consumer affairs. Do not buy any Kia vehicles.
