On two occasions during the past three months the battery in my 2011 Sonata Hybrid with 31000 miles has had to be jumpstarted by AAA. After the last incident last week I took the car to the dealer where the car was purchased and the battery was shown to be in perfect condition. I was told that if the dead battery problem occurs again, I should not jump-start the car, but have the car towed in to the dealer for diagnosis. Obviously an electrical problem exists, and towing the car to a Hyundai dealer will obviously be a problem, particularly if I am out of town on a weekend. I dont believe that I should have to bear the cost of travel to my home or hotel costs because of a problem due to a Hyundai fault. Because of this problem, I cannot risk travelling out of town. Please give me some advice to deal with my dilemma. Apart from the MPG issue which I have accepted, THIS is a SAFETY matter that requires a response.
I had good credit and went to buy a Hyundai Elantra because I was in need of a good car, but when I applied for the credit, the guy helping me took advantage of my need. First he came to me with a 10% interest. When I agreed, he went back to his boss. Few minutes later, he came back telling me that my interest was little higher to 12%. I really needed the car so I agreed, but he went back. To make it short, I ended up paying 16% because I told him I would not pay more. I think they ripped me off because of my need and lack of experience dealing with this kind of people who take advantage of you. So if you need a car, dont go with Hyundai or at least dont use their credit and go with somebody with experience.
I bought an Elantra GT with 24,500 miles on it on April 1st. Right away we realized the car had several issues, one of which being the fuel economy. We averaged 17-18 mpg in town and never more than 26-27 on the hwy. Then we noticed a hissing noise when shifting, and a ping/chatter to the engine while accelerating. Then we noticed a metallic ringing when the A/C is on. The CD player was also non-functional. There were some other smaller issues as well, but Hyundai has been working to resolve them. The CD player was fixed, as with some other small things. The engine and transmission noises, poor fuel economy, and metallic ringing, were not able to be diagnosed after several attempts. Now Hyundai is working with me to do a manufacturer Buyback/lemon claim. They are extremely polite, prompt with responses, understanding of my situation and more than willing to help me. Within hours of contacting them via email, I had an open case with its own case number and everything. Currently they are confirming that nothing can be done to fix the car, then we will move forward with the buyback. They have stayed in constant contact, and always in a timely manner. Very pleased with Hyundai overall. If you have a legitimate case, Hyundai will provide legitimate help.
My 2017 Hyundai Tuscon I originally leased but ended up buying it when my lease was up. It was about a month later in December the engine/transmission went. I took it in the service department. Took 3 days to look at it but determined metal shavings were all over the motor and it needed to be replaced. Thankfully still under warranty. I then asked for a loaner and a manager in the service department told me they dont do that. I ended up going to Enterprise for a rental IN DECEMBER. I called every week for six weeks asking for an update and I was told they were waiting on a part. I then asked to speak to a manager as I was out money for renting a car for six weeks and another manager in the department said, Yes we have one. come pick it up. I get there and I was told they didnt have any more cars to loan out. Obviously I threw a fit as I turned in my other lease.By now it is MARCH and they still have not communicated when my car would be ready I quit calling weekly and went straight to Hyundai Corporate where they opened up a case and gave me a case manager. He was not that helpful at all. It didnt speed up the process of me getting my car back. I finally got my car back March 30th and my paperwork to turn in for reimbursement and I was told a week or so later the paperwork that the dealership gave me was not enough to warrant a reimbursement. I resent the paperwork 3x and emailed and called since they will not return my emails or calls. I would NEVER deal or buy from Hyundai again. There are too many other nicer cars and I am sure easier people to deal with than Hyundai. I will now go a step further and file civil action against them. The car was under warranty. I should be able to get my money back and they should have communicated better!!!!
Had no knowledge of the Azera when I first saw the car but after a test drive comparison with the Sonata it seemed more substantial and luxurious. I have leased over eight cars in my lifetime but the Azera limited was the first that I purchased at the end of a lease. The Azera limited had many factory installed options and safety features that were standard along with the Hyundai warranty made the Azera limited the obvious choice.
Just received my 10th recall on this piece of junk. And I expect more. I was actually given a phoney long-winded dissertation of the recall by the east coast Hyundai regional representative who called me to placate me after the 9th recall. He said sometimes the robots do get it wrong. Wtf kind of response is that? Hyundai should declare this car a lemon and offer some kind of compensation to us victims of their horrendous quality control issues.
On June 13th, I noticed a rattling when I stepped on the gas of my 2008 Hyundai Sonata. By the time I got to my destination, the car was making such a horrible noise; there was no way it could be driven further. I called the Hyundai customer service number to arrange to have the car towed to the dealer and to make sure my warranty would cover the issue. I was assured that I was still covered under the 10 year 10,000 mile warranty. The following morning, the tow truck arrived and took the car to the dealer. Later that day, the dealer called me to inform me that I would need a new engine and that my warranty would not cover it. The engine would be a used one with 71,000 miles on it and would cost $5600 not including labor. Of course, I immediately called Hyundai and was told that I was misinformed the previous day and that I did not have the 100,000 mile warranty because I was the second owner. They assured me that they would cover the tow and the diagnostic charge but they would not cover a new engine. The reason I bought the car and not the Nissan Altima, which is a much nicer vehicle, was for the exceptional Hyundai warranty. I spent the next few hours on the phone with quite a few rude customer service representatives before I reached a supervisor. I stated my issue for the umpteenth time and he once again told me that despite the fact that the car is only four years old, it is not their problem as the warranty is up. So basically, Hyundai is saying that it is acceptable for a four-year old car to have a blown engine and too bad for me. I am a single mother who has recently been unemployed and I am still paying for this car. Suffice it to say that I will never buy another Hyundai again and I will certainly let everyone I know what my experience has been.
My window washer system has failed three times. After taking it to Jon Hall Hyundai for two times, now when I pour the window washer in the reservoir, it leaks right out. Now the dealer is making me wait over a week for a third warranty appointment. I called the corporate office, and they took my complaint, but they said it would take three to four business days before they will contact me. That’s about as long as the dealer is making me wait to try and fix my problem for the third time.
My Sonata was manufactured on May 7 of 2007 and it was old to me as a 2008. I thought anything manufactured before July first could not be sold as a 2008.
I purchased my 3rd brand new Hyundai in 2005. I have always chose Hyundai models as I believed in your vow of Americas best warranty although I had always paid them off and traded them in around 60,000 miles. I did make a decision to hold onto my most recent Hyundai which is a 2005 Hyundai Tiburon. I am a extremely anal when it comes to maintenance, to the point friends and family mock me. No one but the dealership has EVER been under the hood of any of my Hyundais. I have even taken it to them to have air put in the tires. I never missed a maintenance and am always at the dealership within the 3 months - 3,000 miles with checkbook in hand asking them to do whatever is necessary to maintain the warranty, value of the vehicle and to keep my car running. I just had the 2005 Tiburon in for scheduled service in April 2014. As always, this service department who had handled all my cars over the past 20 years said the car was in impeccable shape. Memorial day 2014 (a little over a month later), while driving I turned on the air. Within 5 minutes it started to jerk and sputter, smoke started to rise from under the hood and all my dashboard lights came on. I pulled over and called a tow. The next day I was in shock when the service manager called and said the engine had blew. I was not concerned with the cost as it was still 20,000 miles and 1 year under warranty. When I asked how this had happened, he said the car had a small leak in the radiator which caused it to overheat. I begged for answers on how this could happen. How I would have known there was a slow leak and if there was light that should have warned me and how the engine could have blown from overheating. Nothing Greg from Hyundai City said made sense to me on how I could have done anything different to prevent this. All he could say was because I had driven the car for an extended period of time, while overheating it would not be covered under the warranty and the cost would be about $3,000. There was literally minutes between realizing something was wrong and when the car died on the side of the road. There was not a single sign before this moment that would have led me to know something was wrong. He also went on to explain because the radiator wasnt covered and this is what ultimately caused the damage, they could not possibly cover the cost. I have no words. I have sent countless customers to this dealership as well as given Hyundai 60,000 plus dollars worth of business. They know how meticulous I am about service and have all my records. The car had 80,000 miles on it and just a month earlier was told the car was in perfect condition and now it sits with a blown engine without any fault of my own. I could not have done anything more to maintain the car or meet the warranty criteria. I did file a case with Hyundai but based on what Greg has told them I received an email stating that they will not honor the warranty. I am heartbroken and have no idea why the company I was so faithful to would treat me, let alone any customer this way. I have no words. I had no doubt that Hyundai would do the right thing but I am growing less and less faithful. I have no idea how this happened to my car and the company who can make this right refuses to. I know losing one customer is not a big deal to you but at the end of the day your integrity is all you have whether it be with one person or millions. It is all the same.
I have experienced one of the lowest quality customer care and service from the customer service department of Hyundai USA. I have cases open with them for the past 4 months. I am following up with the customer service department every week, and I have received a very poor unresponsive service from this department. Do not recommend this car manufacturer if you care about (and expect to receive) quality customer care and service.
I bought a 2007 Hyundai Elantra in 2012. In 2013 I started having problems with getting the car to start. I took it to the dealership and was told I needed to have the Immobilizer Module fixed. I paid $400 to have them replaced and I was told I would have to wait for the little security symbol to appear on the dash before turning the key so the car would start. Even months after having this fixed it would still not start even after waiting for the stupid symbol to appear. It would take several tries. Then a few months later one of my back passenger door handles broke and you couldnt open the door. Fine, whatever... no one ever sits in the backseat anyway. Then the A/C died and I wasnt paying to have that fixed. Then in July 2015 I am driving down the freeway and I felt a thud and thought I had run over something. I looked in the rear view mirror but there was nothing on the road. I got to my destination and when I restarted the car, the engine light was on. I really didnt want to take it to the dealership so I took it to a mechanic and he scanned it and a code for the Shift Solenoid came up. He suggested I take it to this transmission specialist place. I ended up paying $1000 to have the Shift Solenoids replaced. A week later, Im driving and feel that thud again. Back to the transmission place. They tell me that it could be something internal with the transmission. Nice to know after I just dropped $1000 on this piece of **. I finally take it to Hyundai and leave it with them for the day. The service guy calls me and gives me a list as long as my arm of things wrong with the car... one being that the transmission is failing and the Immobilizer Module that I had fixed in 2013 needs replaced. In total, it was going to cost $5000 to fix all that was wrong with the car. EFF THAT. I went and bought a new car and it wasnt a Hyundai.
I am on my 4th consecutive Hyundai, and for the most part find them to be good value. BlueLink, on the other hand has changed my opinion of Hyundai. The customer care service, which is required to get any other service, is not valuable and Ive never used it. I paid over $3K extra for a package with push button start so I could take advantage of the remote start feature. Its ridiculous that I have to pay $200/year to use this. I would actually be much better off to pay to have a remote car starter installed. Id do this if I hadnt paid so much for the push button start feature. Ive tried calling Hyundai to see if they could offer any sort of promotional rate, especially considering that now new owners get 3 free years of BlueLink. I tried calling BlueLink customer service on several occasions and hung up after being on hold for over 30 min each. Finally, after a 45 min hold I got through and the rep was able to offer me absolutely nothing. I let him know that when I trade next time, I will be inclined to consider something other than Hyundai.
I traded in my 2013 Kia Optima SXL for a 2015 Kia Optima SXL. I used the $5850 left after my payoff as my downpayment on a lease. I was in a horrible crash two weeks after and the car had 586 miles on it and it was totaled. My insurance said the car is so new they werent depreciating it, but Hyundai only says I will get back $3986.45 so I now have to lose part of my downpayment. My insurance handled this in a week and I have to pay out of my pocket because Hyundai says it will take about a minute to give me what Im due back! They have their money right away. Gap insurance obviously isnt worth it if the car is new.
Hyundai has sold cars knowingly and not disclosing a defective paint issue. These cars have paint that actually peels right off the body of the car. When Hyundai is contacted they want to pass it off as weather. They know that this defect occurred during the painting process. Please join me in a class action lawsuit forcing Hyundai to recall and be fully responsible for this defect. Please contact the Attorney General in your state and file a complaint. Thank you.
Hyundai Genesis 2015 went dead on road only 1.5 years old. Had to get it towed to Napleton Hyundai Northlake. They had to replace computer. Then it happened again a week later. Then they had to replace the fuel pump module. Now the car vibrates when sitting still. The seats and the steering wheel constantly shaking. Napleton says it is because the engine is running and thats just the way the car is. Either Hyundai Genesis is a very bad car or Napleton Hyundai is totally incompetent, or possibly both. I would stay away from both! On top of that, I cant get rid of the car because they say the current value is less than the end of lease value which is still over a year away. They want me to pay 100% of the remaining payments to the end of lease if I trade it in and buy a new one. Worst dealer service I have ever had.
Very, Very Bad Customer Service at Rally Hyundai-Palmdale,CA - I was treated horribly by the Sales Manager. His name is **, at least thats what he told me. After test driving a few cars and ready to go home and ponder, I was told by the sales associate, Kyle, was going to the back to see if they had exactly the car I wanted. Two minutes later, Kyle returned with Randy. I explained to him that I was just there to test drive; I had already researched the car for almost 2 months so I knew just what I was getting. So Randy started immediately, he didn’t waste any time. “What payments can you afford?” “Ummm… no thanks, I dont want to discuss price, thank you, I just wanted to test drive.” “Well, why not? Why do you want this type of car? Why not another? Oh, thats not what this car cost. Oh the car you test drove couldnt have felt that way. No, no, no.” Discredit, discredit, discredit. The language he used was rude, forceful and disrespectful. “Forget about your research, it’s all wrong.” He wanted me to go inside so that he could show me his numbers. He was a lot like a bully and he tried to intimidate me. But I stood my ground and refused to follow his lead. Mind you, this was all after I explained to him that I didn’t want to buy today, only a test drive. After he saw that he could not intimidate me, he became very upset, glared at me and began his rant. You just dont believe me. Youre not even listening to me. Were done here! Calling me a liar to my face! I thought, “Uhhhh... who called who a liar? What just happened?” Well when he was done with his rant, he walked away. The only thing I was able to get out after that was, Thats unfortunate as he stumped off like Rumpelstiltskin. If he had just allowed me to leave nicely, I would have returned to purchase the car I wanted. I guess he thought because I was alone and a woman, that he could bully me into doing something I didnt want to. No one deserves that type of treatment. And after reading other reviews on Yelp, it turns out no one is allowed to test drive at this location unless they plan on buying. Something needs to be done about this bully.
I had no idea what to expect when I bought my 2006 Sonata. It turned out to be a great car. We had the V6 Limited but no sunroof or top of the line radio. MPG was as high as 24.8 because we did highway miles. Repairs were few and infrequent. We did regular fluid changes as recommended by the dealer; but as far as repairs, we did very few. Need ceramic brake pads at 90,000. We did the plugs finally at 120,000, but I think they would have gone to 150,000 without a problem since they were iridium. Also had a pulley go bad. Finally, had to also do struts and shocks and also had to do tires of course from time to time. I’m very pleased over all. Only annoying thing that happened was replacing the third brake light. Whoever designed the access to this bulb needs to be re-educated LOL. I finally sold it at 150,000 miles, but I really think it would have gone 250,000 for sure.
I bought Hyundai Sonata 2013 five months ago. I am happy with driving the car but I noticed that you took my money for blue link which is I already cancelled.When I bought the car, you told me that I have to pay $99 for year for the blue-link. There was a one month fee. I didnt want to pay and it wasnt good for me so I cancelled. But you charged. When I called the blue-link, blue-link told me that there is 3 option in the blue link but I only cancelled one option. I never heard about that. I never heard about that when I bought the car and even when I cancelled the blue-link. I didnt know there is three options. I never heard. When I canceled, you asked why I want to cancel so I just said that it doesnt recognize my voice. For the reason, the blue-link cancelled only one option.When I bought the car the sales person explained the destination search service very kindly but the guy never explained about the other option which is remote access option. I think because I installed remote starter, already. The Hyundai sales person never told me that I have to pay for $198 for year. He only told me $99 a year for the blue-link which he told me only the destination service. I dont want to believe that you had a purpose to take out my money. But there is only way, I can understand the situation. When I called Hyundai dealer which is Patrick Hyundai, they told me I have to speak with the blue-link but the blue-link told me there is nothing they can do. Only they could cancel and I can get less of the money. I feel bad. You tricked me into spending my money. I am very disappointed with Hyundai.
Recently my 2011 Sonata wouldnt start. The dealer replaced the bendix (by the starter), with the mechanic stating that he repairs 4/5 of these a day!? At only 27,000 miles, WHY did this bendix (evidently made out of plastic), not function?!? (Fortunately, my vehicle is still under warranty). AM I TO EXPECT THIS PART TO MALFUNCTION EVERY 27,000 miles?!? I understand that other dealers (Service Mgr.) ARE ALSO HAVING THIS PROBLEM.
On Memorial Day, I purchased a Hyundai Tucson Sport AWD 1.6L Turbo. This is my first time purchasing a Hyundai and I really made the purchase because of the warranty. Now I am having buyers remorse. The vehicle I purchased drives great on the highway, but is not easy to drive in city traffic. I experience a lot of hesitation and jerkiness when pressing on the gas pedal to accelerate from a complete stop. I have complained about this to the dealer and was told I need to get used to the gas pedal because that is the nature of the turbo engine. I have also experienced a lot of static on FM radio stations. The owners manual mentions that static does not mean there is anything wrong with the radio, it is just a poor signal coming to the car due to distance from the tower or perhaps trees or buildings blocking the signal. I have even experienced outages when I tune into XM stations using Sirius. I will get silence for up to three minutes. The dealer told me to bring it in at my convenience and they will check out the radio, but I have a feeling if it does not act up while they have it, they will just re-iterate what the owners manual says. I have never had these issues with any of my previous vehicles, so I think these are design issues with this model. I am not a happy Hyundai owner to say the least.
For being a turbo the Hyundai Veloster does not feel like it. When I try and get it going it tends to stick a lot and then jumps forward real fast. Having the flaps on the steering wheel is a pain. I sometimes knock into them by accident and they change my car to manual which I do not care for. Then I have to slow down and press down on the flap to put it back to automatic.
There is an existing problem for about 2 3 months and its not getting better. There is a burnt smell when the heat is on, dewy film on front windshield. I can clean the windows and its back in a few days. I constantly need to drive with the windows down for fresh air and unable to have passengers due to health and safety concerns. The problem seems to be coming from the vents on the dashboard (right below the windshield) regardless of whether the heat is on or off.I tested my theory by covering the vents for 2 days while driving and the symptoms below decreased. So the vapors that are causing the problems are coming through those dash vents which make sense considering the above problems. I turned on the defroster on 5/8/13 after the car sat all night and smelled antifreeze for about 2 minutes from the dash vents. Also I did some internet research and found some common themes with the 2012 Sonata GLS: PVC collapsing and causing fumes; vapors to back up inside the cabin; antifreeze vapors coming through the dash vents. The vapors/leaks were not detected through the pressure test, they were found through a manual check.Symptoms experienced by driver and/or passenger in vehicle are: dizziness; extreme eye irritation and burning; headache; taste buds dull out and when they return hours later, its almost a sugary taste; nausea.
This car was sold to me as a higher end model, so my expectations coincided with that. About a month into ownership, the car started emitting this terrible smell every time I accelerated onto the interstate. As winter progressed, the smell stopped. When the heat returned, it came back. It seems to stop after a while then return after oil changes. Ive had the vehicle a little over 2 years now, and the compressor already died. I dont even run the A/C over the 3rd bar even on the hottest days! Gas mileage already seems to be waning. I was doing 40mpg (primarily interstate driving) on regular unleaded with 10% ethanol. Now its doing 35 or so. I really like the push button start and car door lock/unlock.However, Ive been having trouble getting the car to lock over the past couple of months. Ill press the button as usual and nothing happens. Its sporadic, cant find a pattern by temperature, weather, or amount driven. On a different note, the volume doesnt automatically adjust to engine speed, so Im constantly adjusting the volume. I would much rather pay attention to driving! On a positive note, the car is comfortable and rides well. The heat and A/C work quickly (when they function). Two settings on the heated seats is really nice.
I have a 2002 Sante Fe. It was a recall because the back end rotted. I did not know about this, so I took it to my mechanic because the vehicle was not driving right. He called me to tell me that the back end was rotted. He called Hyundai to see if it would be covered under a warranty. They said it was a recall, so they would take care of it. I had it towed at my expense. I had asked if I could get vehicle on loan and they said they dont do that. It was not my fault that this happened, so why do I have to pay out of my pocket when it was a defect on Hyundai? It is going to cost me around $300 for a rental. This is bad customer service. Please let me know if this is the policy. I am being put out because of a problem that Hyundai caused. I am very upset about this. What can you do for me. Thanks for your time in this matter. I do not want to bad mouth your company for bad customer service.
On March 19, 2014, around 2pm I was driving home from my place of work in Temecula, CA, where my car had been off & parked for at least three hours. I was northbound on Highway 15, between Murrieta Hot Springs and California Oaks Road, in my 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The car seemed to be driving fine until suddenly the car immediately starting smoking from under the hood and as I was pulling over to the side of the freeway, flames emerged. As soon as I pulled over and put the car in park, I hopped out hoping it wouldnt blow up with me inside. Then, after multiple failed attempts to extinguish the fire, it finally went out with the help of a few good Samaritans. Im extremely thankful, my fiancee and baby girl were not in the car with me. According to the incident report, it was the fuel line that had failed. Yet according to the Hyundai reps who have contacted me since towing my car to Hyundai in Temecula, they cannot determine the cause of the fire. Ive done some extensive research on similar occurrences only to find out that there have been multiple unresolved fires in Hyundai Sonatas around the US. After 2 months of a thorough investigation on my vehicle, they sent me a letter stating they had no idea what caused the fire. So, they cannot agree that the fire was caused by the vehicle. Ive found plenty others with the same issue. Can you say CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT!?
They have held my title for 4+ months with no resolution! Ridiculous and terrible customer service. I am now stuck in the middle of trying to get this title to my new creditor because they have hung up and wont respond to my new creditor. They hang up on them. Despite the address on the back of the check, the letter, and subsequent 2 letters petitioning for them to send the title from April of 2020 nothing has still been done. Even upon contacting them today, via phone, they say its stuck, Ill send an email to my supervisor and the title division to get the title sent. So ridiculous. Hyundai should be aware, that at least for me, this will keep me from ever using their finance arm again and as many of their deals are if you purchase through them itll definitely drive me to another brand.
I have a used 2013 Hyundai Sonata and recently gas gauge just stop working while I was driving. Was saying that it was empty but I know I had a half a tank of gas. I let it sit for awhile and it started back right but stop again. And now my check engine light on. Has anyone else had this problem and what was done?
I leased my 2015 Sonata Sport in Feb of 2016. It had been a service loaner and had almost 5000 miles on it at delivery. After about six months in Aug of 2016 my car would not start and I had to call Hyundai Roadside to jump it. I brought it into the dealer the following week. They tested the battery, said nothing was wrong, and suggested I did something to cause the battery drain. Well, I continued to have the problem and brought the car back to the dealer in Nov of 2016. This time they said the battery was bad and replaced it. Even after replacing the battery, I continued to have the problem and brought the car back to the dealer in Jan of 2017. This time they blamed the problem on the Allstate insurance device I have plugged into the car and they said the battery was bad too. So they replaced the battery for the second time and I had the Allstate device replaced.I continued to have the same problems. I brought the car back to the dealer the following month and they said they could not replicate the issue and found nothing. It seems that my vehicle battery dies when I dont use the vehicle for a period of time – often 1.5 - 2 days, but it has died from sitting unused in as little as 22 hours. Since I continue to have this issue without any real help from the dealer, I contacted Hyundai consumer affairs in April of 2017 and they have been slow to take any action. I did not receive any actionable info from them until 2 weeks after I first called... They called the dealer I had been working with and the dealer told them they thought the issue was the insurance device (even though they found no problems the last time I had the vehicle there, with the device plugged in).So my Hyundai case manager told me they could not do anything until the insurance device was ruled out as a cause. I removed the device and purposefully did not drive the vehicle for a full day and surprise, the car was dead. So I called my case manager at Hyundai and told her what happened and that the device could be ruled out. Now she is checking to see if or when (her words) a Hyundai specialist can look at the car. Hopefully, it wont take another two weeks to find that out. It seems Im not the only person with this issue as a couple other reviews very recently indicate the same problem on the same year/make/model and with even the same time frame the problem began! I guess its time for me to find a lawyer too.
I bought a new 2013 Accent. It has 7k. Manufacturer defect caused internal passenger cabin damage; rust was discovered on internal car frame. The dealer didnt replace carpet and now mold was discovered. I had no car for over 20+ days. The structural and electrical integrity of the car has been compromised.
I purchased a 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT new, and have driven it for four years, putting about 70K miles on it. Based on my multiple bad experiences with this car, I will never again purchase another Hyundai vehicle. First - as is well known, the true MPG is nowhere near the marketing claims made by Hyundai (and there is an unresolved class action lawsuit underway to address that). Then I had a problem where the rear quarter-panel window trim fell off - fortunately I found a TSB published on the internet about that, so Hyundai fixed it under warranty. If I hadnt researched the problem and printed out the TSB, the dealer would have charged me $$$ for the repair.Then most recently I had a problem where the clutch started chattering/slipping. My mechanic discovered that the transmission input shaft seal was defective/leaking. Even though this is covered by the Hyundai 10 year/100K warranty - Hyundai refused to honor the warranty and pay for the repair. I cant wait to trade in this car, and kiss Hyundai goodbye forever. If you are considering buying a Hyundai vehicle, I would recommend purchasing instead a vehicle with higher quality/reliability and from a manufacturer who stands behind their product and their warranty commitments (think Honda, Toyota, Mazda). And definitely dont count on the Hyundai 10 year/100K warranty actually providing you any protection from product defects.
I have dealt with corporate for over a year to try and get the power of attorney to do a state to state transfer and they lied each time by saying that someone else mailed it to me to shoo me off the phone and caused me to have to get a ticket from the police due to their negligence and disorganization. I was unable to ever get a power of attorney until I called corporate several times and explained that this was a breach of contract by not sending me the necessary documents. I will never again lease from this company and I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
My 2007 Tiburon is still under warranty. The air conditioning stopped working completely. I took it in for warranty repair and the Ourisman Hyundai of Bowie, MD to fix the a/c, saying instead that I had to pay over $200 just for them to determine what was wrong with it. They also accidentally admitted that many Hyundai a/cs malfunction because the condenser is situated in a bad spot. Poor design. The fragile and vulnerable condenser unit is placed too close to the front and too close to the road that the tiniest pebble can make a hole in it. This design flaw is peculiar to Hyundai cars and they know about it but refused to accept responsibility. To make matters worse, they still charge you over $200 just to check it out, knowing full well that they intend to tell you that the warranty does not cover it. So you are out the $200 for their so-called inspection, plus your a/c still doesnt work, plus it will cost you over $1100 to fix a tiny hole caused by poor design. So, warning, dont buy a Hyundai. They dont honor their warranty plus their cars seem to have peculiar design flaws and their dealerships seem to employ low quality, deceitful people.
DO NOT BUY A PALISADE!!! We’ve had our Palisade for four months. We love the features and ride but had it back to the dealership five times because of excessive winds noise at highway speeds (> 50 mph) noticeable in the front seats. The dealership pressure tested the cabin, replaced door seals, and checked door alignment. Finally, they removed the side view mirrors and determined the whistling sound is wind turbulence from the mirrors after a test drive. The dealership has been great but Hyundai refuses to acknowledge the issue. We opened a case with Hyundai but their case manager said there is no design flaws so there is nothing they can do. I just want a brand new $50K vehicle to act like a $50K vehicle. DO NOT BUY A PALISADE!!!
I purchased a new 2011 Hyundai Sonata from Cocoa Hyundai in Cocoa Beach, FL. At the time, I was driving a 2008 Suzuki SX-4. I was looking to trade it in due to the warranty expiring and it having high miles. Originally, I had come in asking for the Elantra, as it was in the same size category. I got there and test drove the Elantra and thought it was ok, very fuel efficient. I then test drove the Sonata and immediately fell in love with it. The interior is very roomy. It also feels better when you drive it. I then worked up a deal with the dealership. At the time, I had very good credit. Looking back at the total cost of the vehicle, I dont believe I got such a great deal after all. The only reason I purchased there was because I had a friend of mine working at the dealer. He assured me he would take care of me and give me a great deal. Finally, after 2 1/2 hours of negotiating with the salesman, we came to an agreement on the price and monthly payment. It was more than I was wanting to spend; my monthly payment jumped up about an extra $125 a month. I told my wife we would make it work out somehow as we both really liked the vehicle. I would just cut back on things. We drove the vehicle home and were happy. 2 months after purchasing the vehicle, we received a notice in the mail saying there was recalls on it. We called the Closest dealer to our home which was Universal Hyundai in Orlando, FL and scheduled an appointment. We arrived to this dealer just to see a bunch of people standing around doing nothing. It took nearly 15 minutes for someone to finally acknowledge us. They told us they had no records of us even being in their service log. I guess someone had dropped the ball. They said theyll squeeze us in anyways. They told us the car would not be ready for several days as they did not have the parts available. I told them that was fine, but I didnt have transportation to work, as this is my main form of transportation. They said, Well, we have rental cars which are $40 a day. I told them I should not have to pay for something that is not my fault and the warranty should cover it. Finally, after arguing with the Service Manager for nearly a half hour, he said they would comp the rental fee. I picked up my car several days later and they handed me a bill for nearly $300. I told them the warranty should cover all this. They reviewed it and found it to be an error on their part. Since this experience, I have visited the dealer on numerous occasions for servicing. It has always been an ongoing issue for us. We also attempted to purchase a new vehicle, at the same dealer, for my wife back in November 2012. When we arrived, we were greeted by a gentleman, dont remember his name. He was quick to get us inside for a credit application. Didnt even allow us to test drive a car and figure out what we liked. After seeing that my wife did not have perfect credit, but fair credit, he then passed us over to a younger gentleman and said he had his appointment show up. It was an older couple that appeared to be well off. The younger gentlemen walked us around the car lot like lost puppies for about 20 minutes not knowing what type of car we wanted. My wife was looking for a smaller SUV like the Tucson and he began to show us the Elantra and the Accent. These are Hyundais more smaller, compact vehicles. My wife quickly spoke and said to him, Why are you showing us these cars? He said, Well this is within your budget and your credit. We had not even given him our budget. I told him we were looking at SUVs. That is what we told the other salesman. He said he told him to show us these cars. At this point, my wife became angry and said, Lets get out of here. These guys dont know what theyre doing. I told her to relax, lets at least get a test drive in before leaving. We test drove multiple vehicles and my wife really liked the Tucson. After this, we told him to work out some numbers. Told him we did not want to pay more than $400. He comes at us with $520 a month with $2000 down. I told him that would not work. He said, Well, theres the door if you dont like it. I looked at my wife and I was like wow, this is how they treat customers. We left very disappointed that day. Finally, this year, we had gone out Christmas shopping for the day. After doing our shopping, we came back to find that our Sonata was not starting. We checked the battery, even tried to get a jump start, but still nothing. After about an hour of exhausting all my options, I saw that there was a Tire Kingdom nearby. I pushed the car all the way to the lot. After speaking to the tech, he noticed the battery cable was loose, so he tightened it up. I was praying that it may have been the problem. We tried starting the car again and still got nothing. Finally, he told me there is something wrong with the starter. He recommended me contacting Hyundai because it would be about a $600 job. I then called Hyundai roadside assistance. They sent a tow truck to pickup my car. I was a good 25 miles from home. It was later in the evening so I asked them to tow it to the dealer closest to my home, again Universal Hyundai. I called and spoke to service department and they advised me to put the key in the afterhours drop box and fill out the form; I did. The next morning, I received a call from a service advisor and told me it would be $110 just to diagnose my car not including any repairs. My mileage was at 61k, the warranty had just ended at 60k. I asked him to help me out, but He said the warranty is pretty cut and dry, there was nothing anyone could do once you go over 60. I told him I guess I have no choice I needed the car fixed. He called me up about 2 hours later and told me it was the cable that connected the starter that was loose. Im thinking great, maybe it will be cheap repair since its just a cable not the starter. He quoted me a price of $340. I was so shocked to find this out. Right now is probably the worst time for something like this to happen, especially during the holidays. I had to gather up some cash and borrow money from family members just to cover this as I did not have a choice in the matter. I need my vehicle to get to work and back. He said the car would work with just this connection, but I could replace the whole starter if I wanted to. I picked up my car and looked at the invoice to see the part was $13.82, with $280 worth of labor fees, something that probably took less than 10 minutes to fix. The service advisor also told me there was an issue also with the steering column, something the warranty did not cover either. I was like what. He said the repair with parts and labor would be around a $1300 job. The warranty does not cover this. I contacted the service manager as a last resort and got nowhere, just the runaround. The service manager kept pointing the blame at Hyundai. He advised me to contact Hyundai customer support. I quickly called Hyundai and spoke with a person by the name of Fran. I explained the story once again to her and informed her that my warranty was over by a thousand miles and she looked to see if there may have been any recalls on my vehicle for any repairs. She did not find any, just ones that had already been repaired on my vehicle. She clearly stated without the warranty, there is nothing that can be done. I explained my frustration and told her I have had nothing but issues with this vehicle from the time I purchased it. She said, Let me get my case manager on the line, so you could speak with them. I waited for several minutes and a person by the name John came on the line. He was very cold and monotone in the way he spoke to me. He just confirmed once again what Fran had said about the warranty and was quick to point finger back at the dealer. I told him I have already contacted the dealer and they are pointing the blame on Hyundai. I told him Somebody has to step up to the plate and get this taken care of. This was something that was going on prior to the warranty expiring. He said there was nothing he can do, but just contact the dealer on my behalf and see if they will do it as a courtesy, or good will to not lose a customer. He said the turnaround time for this is 3 days. I told 3 days is unacceptable. He said it may not take a whole 3 days, that is the time frame. At this point, I was livid and just said thats fine. He called me the next day and said, I cant help nor can the dealer. I told him this will be the last time I ever purchase a Hyundai. I called back again and spoke with several other people and all of them had nasty attitudes with me. I guess they must made an extensive file about me being upset. This will be my last time buying a Hyundai. I guess the parts they use on their vehicles are only designed to last up to 60k miles. After that, youre pretty much on your own. I know Suzuki doesnt make cars anymore in the US, but I drove 2 new Suzuki’s for well over 90k miles and never had a problem. Boy, I wish Suzuki was still in the US. Id be getting rid of this car in a jiffy. I guess this was a hard lesson learned, but I will just try and finish paying it off, then trade it in.
Not only did our Sales guy sell us a car without the one feature we requested (auto-start), but it is now in service for the 3rd time due to what feels like engine failure when accelerating. Last 2 times Hyundai of Paramus service department stated that since they could not duplicate the issue, that they considered the issue resolved. This time, they did a tear down and are telling me it is the automatic clutch. They said that we beat on the car and thats why. I am 40 years old, live in NJ (the land where traffic happens everywhere, every day) and most of the time my 2 small kids are with me. We thought this would be an economical choice, but it looks like we got a lemon. The service dept. District Manager Sean ** denied our claim for this repair to be covered under their amazing warranty, and told my husband to try and dispute the claim with Hyundai corporate. So, we called corporate, and they said that our only option is to contact the better business bureau. Dont do it to yourself. You dont need the aggravation. Take it from me... 5 days later and $400.00 poorer. Hyundai claim number**.
My father owned a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. Previously the car had shown multiple failures such as the steering unexpectedly locking or brakes making loud obnoxious sounds. A few days ago my sister and mother had gotten into a car accident. The car had went airborne and went head first and hit a curb. The car is currently totaled and my mother had multiple injuries. The airbags had not opened during the process. This is outrageous and we would seriously like to have this problem solved. Luckily no one was in critical condition, but still this should never happen.
I am a disabled Veteran who purchased a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe from a dealership in Lawton Oklahoma and long story short, my girlfriend was driving her niece home in my new truck and the back axle snapped which caused the brakes to not respond and an accident was a result and thank God everyone was alright, The accident happened because She was driving towards a four lane intersection and she heard a pop and began to loose control of the vehicle, she never managed to get control before she was struck by another driver on the same side that the axle just snapped. She heard a the tire pop after she was hit in the intersection along with her niece that is a toddler in the back. The reporting officer gave my girlfriend a ticket saying she failed to stop at a red light, Instead of the truth Vehicle Malfunction: My insurance company adjuster said that he can tell by the dent in my rim the tire exploded after the accident. Hyundai has had me waiting for them for almost 5 months of payments plus insurance and told me since Im filing the complaint I cant fix it until the claim is fully investigated. Im still waiting and this has ruined many things for me these 4/5 months, not having a vehicle. Ive been very patient but this has been a huge inconvenience and I no longer want my vehicle. I feel my Truck is poorly made, and unsafe, and I cant be paying for a vehicle that just sits in my yard. Not to mention all the court cost due to the ticket!
I had a 2006 Azera that I drove for 147k Miles. It was a near perfect ownership experience. So I purchased a 2011 Genesis 3.8. Its been very disappointing to say the least. What made it disappointing is Hyundais degrading their warranty so that not a single malfunction has been covered by their warranty. I now had 51k miles on the Genesis. This is what had not been covered by their warranty. Navigation does not boot up ~30% of the time, moisture inside rear tail light, wind noise from passenger rear door from day 1, windshield wipers have no intermittent, phone bluetooth cuts out. Wheels peeling clear coat from day one. Dead front strut. So I would recommend avoiding Hyundai. I feel like a chump from driving one. Plus, the ride is rough and too much road noise for this class of car. Avoid!
Had a check engine light on a 09 sonata with 47k miles. Also noticed gas comes out of tank when filling up. Went to dealer for checkup and advised that this part is not under warranty. Also spoke to Hyundai 800 6315151 with no help. Checked youtube, seems like a common problem with Hyundai. Bill to fix is $700. Hyundai lied again regarding warranty just like they did with gas mileage.
I will start with I love my car, it’s a beautiful blue, fits my family well and it is a delight to drive, when it worked, but I am saddened by how my newer vehicle had a catastrophic failure with all warnings and bells that are supposed to come in play, not work and leave my young child and I sit on the side of the road on a hot day, and then get the run around between corporate and the dealership. I am an essential worker and I must get to work and get my child to and from care daily. I am being told my car is listed as a rental car, um, we bought this car from a dealer for our family car. I work at an accounting firm, this car is not a rental. It gets my little family to and from point A to point B, so someone needs to correct this paperwork error which we have been asking for. Second, I am being told that my vehicle’s warranty doesn’t move to the second owner yet. On our purchase paperwork it states in 1 place that we have the factory warranty with the purchase and in a second place it states in very large font, WARRANTY INCLUDED, the dealer will pay 100% of the labor and 100% of the parts for the balance of the factory warranty of 10 years or 100k miles. We had the vehicle towed to the dealer per what the engineer at corporate advised my husband to do. It has been a week and we are getting the run around on if anything will be fixed and if we can even get a loaner car. We work overlapping times on the other sides of the county and cannot possibly share a vehicle. Unable to find rides every day, one of us had to miss multiple days of work dealing with this. My car is a 4 year old Hyundai Tucson that is equipped to warn you if you have low tire pressure, a door is ajar, oil is low and so on and so on. Somehow, no warning at all, and very on time oil changes, my car made an odd noise going up a hill, and then it died. The engine seized. How can something like that happen on a 4 year old car, less than 100k miles and none of its warnings throwing red flags and there wasn’t any codes either. Did I mention my husband is a mechanic. This is not normal and I don’t understand why we are getting the run around between the dealer and corporate. A loaner car should have been approved immediately along with the warranty work. I want to be able to continue enjoying my car that I’m still paying for. :(
I took my car into the Hyundai dealership on 9/23/17 for service only because we received 2 recall notices, one for the engine and one for the steering coupler. There were no other issues. I was advised after technician checked the car there was a small split at top of left tire and car indeed failed their engine test and it would be replaced under the recall. On 10/19/17, received a call the car was ready for pick up. Upon checking out I was advised the technician noticed a noise coming from the steering rack. Mind you, before we dropped the car off, there were no issues or noises. Ok... was advised this is not covered under my warranty and would be around 1000.00 out my pocket to repair. After leaving the dealership noticed a metal scraping sound coming from middle of car. Went back to service dept that Saturday morning (10/21/17) around 9:15 am to advise and was asked when I wanted to bring the car back because technician that worked on my car was off and he had to be the one to work on it. Took car back that following Monday, 10/23/17, explained issue again and proceeded to walk in the waiting room. I forgot to ask the advisor a question so I went back to the service desk and overheard the technician that worked on my car talking to other advisors stating, I dont know what it could be. Maybe its the rotors. I know he was the technician that worked on my car because I asked him, Are you talking about my car... and no its not the rotors because we got them replaced along with the brakes about 2 weeks ago and there were no issues or noises afterwards. Ok, so technician takes car for a test drive and claims he didnt hear any noises!!!I drove the car this time with the service manager and guess what... he heard the noise. I was told by him they would handle the issue. After another check of the car, I was told this time, it was the Front end valve muffler making the metal scraping noise. The service manager submitted a goodwill courtesy request to have the repair done at 100%, then 50%... both denied due to warranty expired. Manager offered to repair at MY expense at the warranty rate of $506.56 for the part, $50.00 labor and $10.57 for gasket part. I feel like this was a technician error when reinstalling the engine due to the recall. My car was not having any issues or noises prior to dropping it off on 9/23/17, and again we only took it in due to the recalls. This is so unfair and poor customer service. I was warned by others not to go to this particular Hyundai dealership in Durham. I should have drove the extra miles to the one in Cary.
I bought a new 2016 Tuscan a few days ago and finding welcome light in the handle doesnt work. Door courtesy lamp doesnt work and acceleration is bad. Ive contacted the dealer (Sisley Hyundai) and they have asked me to take the car to the dealership. So far I have taken it back to the dealership twice. They couldnt give any satisfactory answer, neither could solve the issues so far. They have asked to take it back again but I feel they are just killing time and cannot do anything. These seems like a factory defect as I find lot of customers are also complaining the same. Hyundai Canada needs to recall this car immediately. And I would rank this car as - do not buy.
I recently called/Hyundai roadside assistance, noticing that it included towing. My vehicle has a flat tire, and at this point I don’t have a ton of extra money. I live 200 feet away from a Firestone tire, a relative helped by purchasing the tire I needed and Firestone said they would install it. All I have to do is get the vehicle or the wheel over there. Well Hyundai Veloster don’t come with a spare tire or jack. So I can’t jack the car up and take the wheel off, this didn’t seem like a problem knowing I had roadside assistance. Well roadside assistance will not hold me across the street where I already have a fully paid tire waiting, they would however bring me to a Hyundai dealer but they are non-local to me. I was told by the tow company that exceptions can be made so I spent time on the phone with Hyundai’s customer service just so that they could tell me no. I can assure you after customer service like this I will never return to Hyundai again. This is a lack of compassion for their consumers, I understand you want me to be brought to a Hyundai dealer so the dealer can make the money on the tire and installation, but in my particular situation you should’ve okayed a tow across the street; don’t buy a Hyundai thinking you have someone there for you when you need it. You don’t.
Drove an hour from my home to Stockbridge, Massachusetts and left my keys on my car seat only to return and found out I was locked out. I called Hyundai roadside service and was told it would be 58 minutes for service to arrive. I waited an hour and called again and the automated response said the driver was 3 minutes away. I waited another 15 minutes and called and got a Hyundai live person and he told me that the service company 911 was 3 minutes away. Here’s where Hyundai roadside service failed. After waiting almost 2 hours I called and they told me that the service company canceled the work order to unlock my car because it was not their area. I was furious at this point and asked what do I do. After another 2 hours I received a call that a roadside assistance vehicle would come from Lenox, Mass. Will be there in approximately 5 hours. At this point I had to call my son to bring me another set of keys. It took him over 3 hours for a round trip run. It was either that or break my window a bill Hyundai. I will reconsider buying another vehicle that claims it offers roadside service.
My wife and I just purchased a 2013 Hyundai Azera in November 2013. Since then we have had numerous complaints with the vehicle in and out of the service department. Keep in mind the dealership is 90 miles one way and a rental vehicle was only offered one time to us out of the several trips we had to make. Let me start with noise up over the driver sun visor. The service department could never find and still to this day the noise can still be heard. Two of the wheels the clear coat started to come off. They did not want to replace the wheels and by stating that it was a product we must had used on them when washing the car. Needless to say I became very angry and we did receive two new wheels after the fact. The vehicle being 8 months old with 27,000 miles one of the tires are so worn and legally should not be on the road. The other three tires are worn but not worn as bad. Tires with 27,000 miles should have more tread on them. This vehicle gets serviced and tires rotated every 3,000 miles and all services have been scheduled at the dealership where we purchased the vehicle but one. The service department at the dealership is the worst we have ever had to come in contact with. You have two people telling you two different things regarding the tire tread. Alignment was good and was told we needed to contact Hankook the tire company and this was not a Hyundai problem. Hyundai is the one that contracted Hankook to put these tires on the car so I feel this is Hyundais problem. The chrome molding around the two back passenger windows is popping off. The dealership mentioned on the service print out that both moldings were loose but is only going to replace the driver side molding. I guess the passenger side molding will be another trip to the dealership before they will replace it instead of replacing them both at the same time. You can clearly see the passenger side molding loose too. Hyundai did everything in their power to sell us this vehicle with this wonderful 100,000 mile warranty but every time you have a problem you have to cause a scene and get angry before anyone wants to do anything. The tires is the biggest issue. This is a new vehicle and nothing is getting done about it. Is this how Hyundai treats their customers? I guess more complaints have to come forward or even deaths before Hyundai does anything about this major problem. If you are reading this just be aware of all the complaints listed and should reconsider purchasing a Hyundai. I wish we had done more research before we made our purchase.
My wife got scammed on a lease at a disgraceful Hyundai dealership in Gurnee, IL (avoid at ALL COSTS). She ending up overpaying by $7,000 on a Kona for no reason. The Kona which she was going to buy outright until they convinced her to lease, should have been $24,445. Its on Hyundais website. She ended up paying over $32,000 before tax on the lease. We complained to Hyundai customer service, but were told that there was nothing they would do to help. As such, we will never be buying a Hyundai again and will be recommending to our friends and family the they avoid them also. Although its not Hyundais fault that my wife got scammed, if they are allowing scammers to sell their product then they are culpable. It is a shame because we previously had a Hyundai and had been happy with it. If they are unwilling to help their customers however then we are unwilling to be their customers.
I purchased this car used. The price was a very good deal for me since at the time I had no car and very little money to work with. My car is a 2002 model with 258000 miles and still drives well, easy to maintain and has been very dependable. I am so sure of this car continuing to run well. I love the color which is a silver grey. I like that my car has 4 doors which makes it very easy if there are more than two people going somewhere together. I am investing in a new set of tires for it in the next few weeks. I have not had any serious problems that have cost me a large sum of money, only the ordinary expenses that goes with car ownership. I wish I could change how many miles is on it but I cant do that.

As you can see above $26,800 Final Price. Only a fool would fall for this scam!I ask why they didnt list the $35,800 on the internet and their answer was we dont have to. This is totally dishonest! In doing some more research on the SUV and cars on the Jenkins lot I discovered most if not all are priced this way and are not listed on the website. They are all similar to the deal I was served up. The bottom line is that the website price is a scam to get you to the dealership so they can rip you off. This was a horrible experience. At previous dealerships when purchasing a Hyundai I was treated with respect and they negotiated in GOOD FAITH! You should be ashamed for having a crooked dealerships like this one!
I am so happy with this 2015 Hyundai Sonata Sport along with the customer service that Hyundai provides. This is the 2nd Hyundai I have owned. I will continue to purchase Hyundai so long as this continues.
I purchased the car late Sept 2015 and as of Feb 2016 have had issues with the idle, shaking at a complete stop and not getting the mileage advertised. I spoke to the dealership and Hyundai corporate and was told that no resolution is available at this time that when a resolution is available they would contact me. Am I just suppose to keep throwing my money away putting gas in this car and making my payments when its not even running appropriately?
We were carefully followed an advertised special and confirmed the information very precisely with the sales agent so as not to waste our time. But once we were at the dealership in Houston we were extremely disappointed and sickened by repeatedly being lied to by every level of the dealership. This is not a good company. Their policy is not honest and is very tricky and trying to avoid fulfilling the offers they make. We are not easily fooled but they tried very hard to say one thing and do another. You would be better off avoiding this company altogether! We are really very shocked and would like to prevent anyone from wasting their precious time by believing Hyundai is trustworthy!
I have a 2012 Elantra and when I go over a crack or bump in the road, the car hops to the left or right. I have never had a car do this before and the biggest complaint I have is, Hyundai is denying any issues or problems. The two dealerships that I went to say, It is within Hyundai specs so they cant do anything about it. I would need to go to an alignment shop and have aftermarket shims put in. One problem is that Hyundai did not build the vehicle with four-wheel alignment adjustability or even install a camber adjustment bolt in the rear. I went through my 70,000 mile rated tires in 30,000. The back end tires are towed outward on the front side of the tire. My camber settings were 1.4 on the left and 1.7 on right. With this setting, you will go through tires and then the cupping will develop. In the winter time, park it and take a bus, its a lot safer.
I bought the 2011 Hyundai Elantra in November 2016 with the goal of keeping it till death do us part. I have always had that approach with cars. Well, the Crown Hyundai in St. Pete Florida failed to disclose of a clicking engine noise. On top of that, they did not fix the mandatory recalls until after I told them! Additionally, there is the whole issue of the steering coupler with ALL Hyundais. They do not disclose, inform you, notify you (dealer or corporate) in any way of the steering coupler issue, but your alignment, tires, other parts will suffer and you will pay THOUSANDS! My 40,000 warranty tires blew on the highway after 25,000 miles only! Plus, the whole tire size issue. The only size tires that fit into the Elantra only last 35,000-40,000 miles tops. So, if you drive average, you will replace tires every 2 years -- more expenses for you! This car is a DISASTER, and the customer service at the corporate level is horrible. CHECK THE LAWSUITS. STAY AWAY FROM THE COMPANY.
I bought four units of Hyundai Starex at my country, Malaysia. My Hyundai Starex MPVs were registered under Malaysia numbers. I bought the first two units in 2009, another unit in 2010 and another unit in 2011. Now, the first unit, that has 178,000 miles, encountered some problems. Whenever I made a turn, the vehicle is moving and it is becoming dangerous. I also have problems with the aircon compressor. My question is, are these two items still under warranty?Malaysia Hyundais slogan is very attractive: Warranty under 3 years or 300,000 miles. But when I made a claim, they said, sorry, there is no warranty for your vehicle. What? No claim? My vehicle has never been in an accident before. Apparently, your slogan is only meant to cheat us. I am very disappointed with Hyundai Malaysia.
I am completely disgusted with this finance company and people need to be aware of what they are dealing with when it comes to getting a loan from HMF. I set up auto-pay so that I would ALWAYS have a timely payment on my three year loan. Paying on time is very important to me and auto-pay seem like the best solution to Hyundai getting their money on time, every month.It came down to the last payment and this payment was never auto-deducted. Unfortunately for me, I didnt realize this policy of theirs that the last payment would NOT be auto-deducted. What made this so bad is that I didnt find this out until I was 45 days late in payment and Hyundai had already reported this on my credit! I still cant get over them reporting me to the credit bureau when they could have easily communicated what they needed from me to take their last payment.I immediately called to get clarity on why they were telling me I was late in payment with this statement I received just today when they had full ACCESS to my checking account!! They told me that they have a policy built in the contract that states first and last payments are NOT auto-deductible. OK, so somewhere in the fine print is this policy when I bought the car. Being a long time Hyundai customer that is always receiving mail from them, I find it interesting that a courtesy reminder notice with the last statement isnt enclosed for people that rely on auto-pay?I just know that I dont deserve to have my credit dinged because of some nonsense they put in a contract I signed three years ago! I have never made a late payment on the car and common sense would tell you that I counted on THEM to take what was owed out of my account. Obviously, they do this to make a few dollars on interest and late fees. The consequences to an honest consumer with something like this are that they will have their credit report dinged and a fight on their hands to correct it. This is no small matter. This incident is enough to not only make me committed to NEVER buying another Hyundai, but to put the word out there to others to NOT do business with them - at least when it comes to loans. HMF is the lowest of the low. The car itself, a used 2008 Elantra, has been a pretty good car to have. Still, Hyundai lost a customer because of this. BTW... their customer service are some of the rudest people I have ever dealt with too!!! No empathy, no care. I was treated like a dumb deadbeat. Never again!
This is my second Accent and on the first one the paint job on the roof of the car started to oxidize. When I bought this one I asked them if it was going to be a problem again. They assured me they had fixed the problem. Why did I believe what they said. My car is almost 4 years old and I noticed that the paint on the trunk is already starting to oxidize. I like to keep my cars for a lot of years and the last thing I want is a car with a bad paint job. I would not recommend this car if you are the person who wants a car that looks its age not like a car from a junk heap.
My 2012 Hyundai Elantra Limited was 11 months old when I took it to a dealership due to my concern with rust in two different spots on the front edge of the hood. They said that they would need to take pictures and get a decision from their Hyundai rep. It was the middle of October before I finally heard from anyone (after making numerous phone calls) to learn that they had declined to repair the problem stating it was the result of rock chips which arent covered by their warranty. During the prolonged wait for an answer, a third spot of rust erupted on the front fender near the headlight, and there is nothing to indicate it was the result of a rock chip. According to the warranty, the paint is covered for three years; however, it doesnt cover rock chips.I understand this but my problem isnt that the car has rock chips. Every car Ive ever owned has had rock chips. My problem with Hyundais assessment is that the so-called rock chips have rusted so quickly, spread under the paint, which is blistering and falling off along with the other spot where there is not a rock chip. I have owned at least 10 cars in my lifetime and not one of them has ever rusted like that. I paid for additional coverage when I bought this car, as well as some Paint Seal protection that the dealership said they put on all new cars. It obviously didnt work, to the tune of an extra $200. My husbands car is over 25 years old, still has the original paint, and although it has rock chips, not one of them is rusting to this day. I suspect that I am not the only Hyundai owner with this complaint. Hyundai is making it a policy not to cover any repairs under their so-called warranty. What am I supposed to expect after another two or three years and I have another warranty claim? Am I going to have this fight with Hyundai every time?This is a simple fix and yet they are telling me that if a pebble hits my car, I should expect it to rust immediately and its my problem. In addition, my seatbelt retractor on the passengers side stays locked. It has been this way since I purchased the car. When taking the car to the dealership to have the rust issues assessed, I told them about the issue with the seatbelt retractor. After first telling me they could not fix it since the problem seemed to be intermittent, they finally agreed to replace it after my husband was able to easily reproduce the problem. I returned on Oct. 18 and they replaced it. After leaving the dealership, I realized that the new seatbelt retractor was also locking up. It locks when you snap it on and in order to do anything, such as reach for the radio, open the glove box, etc, you must undo the seatbelt. This occurs repeatedly so you are continuously snapping and unsnapping your seatbelt. I immediately turned the car around and took it back to Jeff Wyler. They said they would need to contact Hyundai since they already replaced it with a new seatbelt retractor and would get back with me.Today is Oct. 25th. Once again, I am waiting for them to call me and let me know what the next step is so I can have a working passenger side seatbelt. I have never had this problem with any other auto manufacturers warranty. I have owned two Chevys prior to this, and Chevrolet bent over backwards to make sure my concerns were taken care of quickly and with respect. I switched to Hyundai because of their supposed unbeatable 10-year warranty, but apparently, it is meaningless since they wont honor it. I am so frustrated at this point because this terrible experience has left me hating my new car which Im stuck with while it slowly rusts away from a couple of rock chips along with an unusable passengers side seatbelt. I also want to add that this car is rarely driven and kept in a garage. After owning it now for one year and one month, this car has only 6200 miles. I have subsequently filed a complaint through the BBBs Autoline, which is the recommended procedure in Hyundai Owners Manual and Warranty Booklet. Thank you.
Brought in my 2015 Hyundai Elantra for service, mechanic stated it needed an oil pump and an engine and it would take a month to fix. When I asked about a rental I was told that they had no cars. Tie my car up for a month and dont offer alternate transportation. Totally unacceptable. I will never purchase another hyundai ever again.
I bought an extended warranty to 10 years/100,000 miles. Yet, anytime I have a warranty issue Hyundai refuses to honor the warranty. Radiator fails - they decline, O2 Sensor fails - they decline, Struts fail - they decline. What did I pay additional monies for to have the extended warranty?
This is how they rope you in to buying their crummy cars “We have American’s best Warranty.” Don’t ever expect to use it though when you need it. They’ll do everything in their power to get out of having to pay to fix your car when something goes wrong. In my case, my whole electrical system fried within less than two years of having the car. Thinking I had “American’s Best Warranty” I thought, no big deal I’ll bring it in and they’ll fix it. Well, no, they tried to claim an animal chewed through my wires so it wasn’t covered by the warranty and I had to go through my insurance to have it fixed. Mind you, this is before I found out there was a class action lawsuit filed against this company for cars with unexpected engine and electrical failures and them failing to make repairs and weaseling their way out of them. They kept my car for 10 weeks trying to fix the issue and every time they fix one issue they would call back and say “oh turns out this is also wrong with your car because of the animal, you have to go through your insurance and put in another supplemental claim.” After 8,000 paid by my initial insurance claim and two supplemental claims of a 1000 a piece and a 500 deductible from me, they gave me back my car that still doesn’t work and still having electrical problems. Their response, we’ll diagnose the problem for 300 dollars to figure out what’s wrong with it now and now they want me to put in another supplemental claim due to another wire that was frayed due to “animal damage.” I can’t even trade the car in because no other dealer wants it due to all the problems and I still have 12,000 left to pay and a car that doesn’t function right.
I love the Tucson except the new eco engine. When it changes gears it feels like it is going to stall out but I understand this is made this way because of using less gas.
My 2007 Elantra SE was just totaled this month. This car is one of the best cars we ever had. It still runs like a top but the rear end damage totaled it. This car never needed anything besides regular maintenance. It now has 230,000 + miles on it. It was very comfortable, peppy car and it will be missed! This was a great car and I will buy another one.

I was notified after I bought the car that all they give you is a can of spare tire. They do not even have a spare tire kit that you can buy until the end of this summer. The only thing I can buy is a new rim that fits and costs anywhere from $377.00 to $477.00, and thats without the tire. I drive a handicapped person, and this is very unacceptable, especially if something happens that cannot be fixed by spraying spare tire into it. Like I said, I was not told when I bought this car that there was no spare; or I would not have purchased it. I have dealt with Consumer Affairs at Hyundai and got no satisfaction whatsoever. I mentioned that if I was told there was no spare and I would not buy the car for that reason, they would have gone out of their way to give me one. This is very frustrating, since I cant even purchase one because there is no kit designed. I have already taken all their surveys before this was brought to my attention. But I would have told them what I really feel, if I had known. They seem to care, until you have an issue.
This is typical for dealerships but theyre not long for this country. I have a senior citizens vehicle in my shop with a faulty block that was faulty from the manufacturer. I attempted simply to very parts through Hyundai and they said, You have to prepay in order to get the parts and two days later they might have the parts in the dealership. The parts for example are pistons, which with the dealership are $90.00 each for a grand total of $400 and change after taxes and other frivolous charges. The exact sane parts coming from Thailand at another place is $90 out the door, including shipping AND you receive at your door the very next day. These people are greedy and worthless. Their products stink! Their service sinks! Their greed is obvious! AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!
There is a recall for the passenger airbag seat sensor not detecting correctly in the 2008 Hyundai Sonata, except for my VIN. I have the same problem as described in the recall. The windshield has a dip in it which makes it hard to see during a rain, since the wiper does not work well in that area.
We purchased a new Hyundai in December of 2013 from Hall Hyundai of Elizabeth City. We had oil changes done in excess of requirements and used the best oil always. As time went along we noticed our car kept getting louder and louder as we drove. I took it to Hall Hyundai of Elizabeth City to have it looked at. The service dept. girl (Aamanda **) had me come out and look at something dealing with the tires. She showed me that the tires were wearing out in a choppy manner on the inside of the rear tires and that was what was making the loud sound as we drove; and that we simply needed to get a complete realignment and new tires. But then, thankfully, she showed me that the front tires were doing the same thing. The reason I say thankfully is that as soon as she showed me that, I immediately knew that this was not an issue that I should have to care for. It was a defect in the Hyundai Elantra suspension design and that they were trying to pass the blame and cost and problem ownership on to the consumer, and absolving themselves of any responsibility of causation through their own product design. After we went back inside the service dept., she tried to blame it on that I might not have had the tires rotated up to requirements. But she wasnt thinking properly again. These tires only rotate front to back and back to front, not side to side; therefore negating the thought of non-rotation problem causation. For it was happening in the front and back tires, which it would still have happened even if we rotated the tires everyday. Then, I said to her that this was a deeper problem and that tires were junk and that it wasnt the need for me to have a realignment. After that she went in the back and I never saw her again. So I left my name and number (of which she already had) with an elderly lady at the back service stand and asked her to have Aamanda call me when she figures out whatever she is figuring out, and she never called me. Subsequently, when I got home, I researched on the internet this issue and I found very many reports of the same problem dating back many years. Some of them mentioned in their report that they did have their proofs of tire rotations as needed and that Hyundai still blamed it on the car owner. My question, if it was an issue of the car owner not doing things properly as Hyundai dealers and Hyundai itself contends, how is it possible that it is exactly the same issue happening to thousands of Hyundai owners over a span of years? Simply put; its NOT anything that the consumer is doing wrong, and IT IS an issue that HYUNDAI has ownership of (it IS an issue concerning a defect in the suspension of the automobile ~ FACTLY), and they need to be made and forced to rectify the problem with all owners that are dealing and have dealt with the issue.
My 2012 Hyundai Veloster has strong smell of gasoline inside of vehicle. Dealer states that this is normal with temps over 100 degrees and start and stop traffic, so they did nothing. I guess this means that it cannot be used from May through September in the Henderson/Las Vegas area, as the temp is always over 100. I cannot believe they think this is acceptable. Do not buy this car. The dealer did provide me with details stating this issue is normal. Im not sure where he got it, but it appears to be from Hyundai.
I am writing to you today regarding my Hyundai Sonata Hybrid that I bought brand new in August 2016. It’s been less than 2 years and we already had to take our vehicle to the mechanic 4 times to the Hyundai maintenance service. After going to Hyundai mechanics numerous times they are still uncertain about the fault in my vehicle. My wife and I have been very disappointed with our first Hyundai Sonata. Numerous times we have gone back to the Hyundai maintenance shop to attempt to have our vehicle fixed, which then follows up with me getting a rental car for the day. The very following next day I have to pick up my car again as the mechanic tells me the issue is resolved but it’s not. I’ve listed the days below for details when my Sonata has malfunctioned.Heading from Santa Clara to San Francisco about 40 miles drive. Was looking for parking and when in the middle of the road my vehicle decided to stop without any warning. It wouldn’t start and we had to wait about 20-25 minutes for my car to start again. We followed up with Hyundai the next day and they said they didn’t find any issues with it. Therefore I wasn’t able to have any record of it in the Hyundai maintenance system.The second time it occurred when my wife and I were heading to Long Beach for our Babymoon. Our issue happened multiples times during our trip. Every time we stopped by at the gas station our vehicle malfunctioned. We had to wait 30 minutes before the car would start again. At that time I felt very unsafe as I had my pregnant wife with me and was hoping the car wouldn’t stop while I was driving. Due to the malfunction, our trip was not only delayed but dangerous for my wife.During this time they had found a fault in the vehicle and had to replace BMS. Invoice number ** on Feb 7th 2018. Our third accident happened after getting my vehicle back from the maintenance, I had to go to SF Airport to pick up my friend and the car stopped again! Replaced OPU, OL Pump Unit. Invoice number ** on Feb 14th 2018. The fourth accident happened when we had an emergency and had to take our dog to the vet for his surgery and after dropping him off my car stopped again! Replaced PRA. Invoice number ** on Feb 20th 2018. Mileage of my Vehicle still under 50,000The Hyundai service center has not been able to find the problem and resolve it even after having numerous types of test. After going to the Hyundai service center numerous times, I have the fear of my vehicle of being very unsafe and I don’t want to take any kind of risk with my family in it. I am afraid that my vehicle will stop at the stop light or worse during the drive. Looking forward to hearing back from you regarding Hyundai Malfunction Issue.
I purchased a new 2019 Hyundai Accent in November 2019 at Genesis of Cherry Hill in Marlton, NJ. This car is a piece of junk, defective, and unsafe to drive. Hyundai provides a car buyer with a 10-year/100,000 mile warranty; not because they stand by the quality and workmanship of the vehicle, but because youll need the warranty to have the car repaired. My car has been in the Hyundai Service Shop for the same problem four times since I purchased the car. The car constantly pulls to the left. You must hold the steering wheel for dear life; otherwise, you could have an accident. On 1/2/20 Hyundai Service adjusted the steering wheel sensor. Within 8 days, 1/10/20 I had to return the car to Hyundai Service for the same problem. Now, Hyundai Service determines the car needs a 4 wheel alignment and another steering sensor adjustment. On 5/19/20 the car was returned again to Hyundai Service for the same problem and the technician determines the rear solid beam axle and left and right front lower control arms must be replaced. Hyundai Service had to order these parts, so now a 4th trip to Hyundai Service was required to fix the pulling to the left. I dropped my car off on 6/1/20 and went to pick the car up on 6/10/20. I test drove the car in the presence of 2 Hyundai technicians and the service manager. After all this work done on the vehicle my car still pulls to the left. Hyundai Service had the audacity to state that all Hyundai Accents may perform the same way, really. Hyundai also indicated that the car passed their testing protocol for driving 40 mph and was deemed as a fixed vehicle in their eyes. However, on my road test the vehicle failed at 40 mph and at greater speeds. Hyundai Service has failed to address my complaint about my car and the car was left at the dealership. I have been making payments on this new car which has spent more times in the shop than on the road. Consumers should think twice on purchasing a Hyundai whether for yourself, your spouse, or child. Your safety is at risk each time you get behind the wheel of this car.
In Europe Hyundai offer a 5 year, unlimited mileage warranty, with Hyundai Assistance (Call us for anything you need. Even if it a tyre with low pressure, is the sales pitch). Last Sunday I called them and told them that my left headlamp was not working on my 2 year 10 month old Hyundai. Additionally it was a Sunday and I needed to drive the car at night. They sent a mechanic, but alas, he did not have a lamp (!!!). I took the car to the garage the following day and despite all the issues, they charged 60 euro (approx 78 USD) for a lamp claiming that warranty does not cover the lamps. Lol...
In February 2010, I bought a new 2010 Hyundai Elantra Touring from a RT.44 Hyundai dealership in Raynham, Massachusetts. I was very pleased with the vehicle, still am. Here is the issue: About a week ago, I came out to the Touring and noticed that the passenger side front bumper cover was just hanging on and was no longer attached to the fender. I looked to see why it wasnt attached and saw that the tab from the bumper cover that secures it to the fender on the inside had completely sheared off from the inside of the bumper cover. It was not broken, chipped, or cracked it was sheared completely off in a straight line the whole tab. I had an oil change scheduled the next day with RT.44 Hyundai. When I arrived, I informed my service adviser about the bumper problem.Later when I went to pick the vehicle up, I was informed by the service adviser that RT.44 Hyundai would not cover the replacement of the bumper cover due to the fact that the mechanic found two hairline scratches that never even broke through the clear coat on that side of the bumper cover. These scratches that I had never seen before where so small and light they look like it was made by a tree branch or something and would buff out with compound and a towel. There was no other damage around the surrounding area at all. This was the reason they stated why they would not cover it under the warranty. I then asked to speak to a service manager and brought him out to see the vehicle and showed him the bumper cover. When we walked out to the vehicle, it was drizzling rain and I showed him the cover and let him look it over. He never once mentioned even seeing any scratches around the area. He wasnt made aware of them until we went back inside and he brought my information up on his computer and saw what the mechanic had written. He then stated it would cost me in excess of $1,000 to have the bumper replaced. Im a single mother and do not have the financial resources to lay out that kind of money.I then sent an email to Consumer Affairs of Hyundai of America and was instructed by them to bring my vehicle to another Hyundai dealership for them to look at it. I brought the vehicle to another Hyundai dealer (the closest being 20 miles away). They put the vehicle on the lift and validated everything I was stating on a work order, that no damage was found to cause that bumper tab to snap off the way it did. So now with this in hand, I felt pretty good about my chances of getting the bumper cover replaced under warranty. I contacted Consumer Affairs again and told them of the outcome and that I had gotten a work order from that dealership confirming everything I was stating. The T2 supervisor from Consumer Affairs then told me I would have to go back to the dealership I purchased the vehicle from and rehash it out with them as she stated they had no authority to tell a dealership to honor the warranty. I had done everything they asked me to do at my expense just to have them tell me that I would have to argue with the original dealership over it again. I have kept all the emails correspondences with Consumer Affairs of Hyundai and the work order from the other dealership. So as of today, Im driving around with my front bumper cover held on by tape. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Pathetic service. First they booked the car at a great deal and I gave the booking cheque and documents also required for booking. They cancelled the booking and returned the cheque very next day saying that the car model and variant I have booked is already sold in their Ludhiana showroom and will be available in stock next year at an increased price and no discounts. God knows what a crappy inventory management system they are using. These guys spoiled my familys new year plans.
This is the worst experience. Im having a complaint regarding the purchasing of a car. My sales consultant is not providing me feedback nor is he picking my calls. All my payments are clear and Im not getting the delivery of the car. There is also an issue regarding the vehicle number registration. I want someone to resolve my problem a.s.a.p.
This is a Lexus equivalent for half the cost. Among the best cars I have owned. I have the R-Spec which is laser fast and totally upscale. Mechanically flawless to date. Drives like a dream. Fit and finish are superb. Dealer support excellent.
My 2011 Hyundai Sonata died on me last night while driving home on the 210 Fwy without any warning whatsoever. AAA towed it to Parkway Hyundai in Valencia, CA. I received a call today from the dealership telling me I need a new engine. Although my car has 150,000 miles on it, they are mostly easy highway miles and I have not had any mechanical issues up to now. I regularly have maintenance done to the vehicle. I am furious after reading numerous complaints from other 2011 Hyundai Sonata owners with the same problem and Hyundai not accepting any responsibility.
I purchased my 2005 Hyundai Tuscon new from the Kolar Hyundai dealership based primarily on the advertised warranty coverage of 10 years and 100,000 miles bumper-to-bumper as they advertised it (it’s still under a warranty plus program which I did have to pay for). Since then my Tuscon is in need of a bearing replacement on the left rear tire (it has seized). When I called the dealership, I was told they would not tow the vehicle or repair it without me covering all the costs. My warranty is currently at no cost to me for repairs or towing. I was told to call the Hyundai warranty number. The lady I spoke to informed me that if it was an American-made vehicle, it would be covered since bumper-to-bumper means that. But since it is a Hyundai and the rear wheels are not drive wheels, it is not covered after 60,000 miles. I asked her again why Hyundai is not honoring their advertised bumper-to-bumper warranty. Again, I was told it is because Hyundai is not an American-made vehicle (assuming she meant a vehicle made by Ford or other American vehicle corporations). I am now forced to incur all costs for repairs since Hyundais trickery (erroneous advertising) has forced me to, especially in a tough economy.
Hyundai Elantra GLS - I purchased a Hyundai that nearly killed me because of its cracked fuel tank. I had severe gasoline poisoning and the damage is permanent. They had a recall on the product. I was told by Hyundai America that I needed to sue the manufacturer in Korea. I have never come across such a group of liars in my life. They did not come to the table. They tried to have the fuel tank not admissible in court and they never stopped lying. They even had the dealership I purchased the car from (Pitre) declared as not in the business of selling cars. I am now unemployed and unable to work, and the public is paying for me.
Nothing but problems from day one of this loan; first month wrong contract information entered that I fought for 39 months. At month 36 of my 39-month lease, I learn they made an error and its a 48-month lease, We went around and around. Then turn in car at end of lease (48 months not 39-months mind you!) to have termination fees, return fees, mileage fees (I expected those), and had a $1400.00 bill. HMF tells me I can pay it incrementally via the same account. I pay $400. then $100 each month at the suggestion of the HMF call representative. I did this on principle because I was so mad about how I was treated so I decided to pay it slowly. Yesterday, I get a phone call from a collection agency saying I owe $1400.00. I explain I have the payment confirmations from my bank showing $900.00 in payments my husband has made--the agency says (quote) well hes lying. No payments have been made and you owe it. I call HMF today and the representative, Tanya, with a heavy Indian accent, tells me she sees the $900.00 and its in collection for $402.21. Again, I tell her that her Hyundai co-representative told me to pay it that way. She says, Ill make a note of that on your account but you have to make arrangements with the collection agency to pay it. I have never had collections on this or any car loan! OMG I was NEVER LATE NOT ONCE. It was auto-pay from my bank! I requested a statement with complete billing history and told Tanya I would pay Hyundai the full amount directly. I have been switched and mislead over and over. Buyer beware!
In June of this year (2016) I went to motor vehicle to get the necessary paperwork to register my car in my new location. I called Hyundai Motors to find out what I need to do get the title transfer. I was told to fax all my information to them including the paperwork from DMV. I faxed everything down to them in June and I was told it would be a couple of days, to get it to the mvc. As of today I still do not have my title. I have called almost everyday and Ive been hung up on. Ive talked to 4 different supervisors and gotten stone walled on every phone call. Their favorite answer is The title dept isnt available at this moment. Hyundai Motor has the worlds worst customer service and support.
This is with deep disgust that I am writing this letter to Hyundai. My familys loyalty toward Hyundai started in the year 1999 with the first generation Santro. From there, we have possessed Accent which was bought by my brother, two Verna first generation, etc. and finally we have gone for a Fluidic Verna in the year 2011. I possessed a white Verna SX CRDI ABS, which was the top variant in the year 2008. The reason for top model with ABS was due to the utmost safety concerns. But I had 3 instances of accident with my car which was due to ineffective ABS. This complaint I have raised with The Popular Motor World delegates in Cochin, Kottayam, Muvattupuzha centers in Kerala but they could not help me on the same.I had spent thousands of bucks on service after the other but the result was the same. Now, my car has covered 75,000 kilometers and even last week, I was about to meet with an accident owing to the problem of the ABS. Now, delegates in the service department is suggesting me to change the ABS Sensor. Brand loyalty is exercised by a customer due to various factors among which I believe the most important one is service quality and the ownership the company takes to give customer delight. But now when I turned back, I am surprised to find that passenger car market had given me numerous option to choose from but still I was loyal to Hyundai and all due to that decision I am now having a tough time. None of the brands are built in a day and I strongly believe that quality is not an accident but an outcome of conscious and continuous effort. Please help me to come out of this issue. Thank you.
I purchased a Hyundai Elantra Turbo back in September 2017. I have just recently been diagnosed with stage III colon cancer and have not worked for over a month and not sure when I will be getting back to work. I called the finance company for Hyundai and ask them if I could delay a few payments and add them onto the end of my lease. Their response was that there was nothing that they could do for me. I’m very disappointed! Upset! The way I feel right now if I could turn in my car and lease from another company that would have a little more compassion I would do it in a heartbeat! I will never buy another Hyundai based on this experience.
I was in a head-on collision in my 2004 Hyundai Elantra. I had my seat belt on, and I was the driver. My air bag light came on, but my air bag did not release. I suffered a great amount of pain, because my knees hit the steering wheel very hard.
Hyundai claims to have Americas best warranty but if you read the fine print youll find out otherwise. Three of the five cars Ive owned as an adult have been Hyundai cars. I liked the warranty and the service, however I have never once with all the servicing Ive had on my cars had their warranty cover anything. Recently I had a transmission problem on my car and I found out that not only am I not covered for 100,000 miles or 10 years as they like to advertise, Im not even covered for 60,000 or 5 years. My car has about 56,000 miles on it and they are not covering anything at this point.Hyundai loves to advertise their amazing 100,000 or 10 year power train warranty, but that only applies to the original owner. The second someone else owns the car it drops down to almost half the mileage (60,000) or 5 years, whichever comes first. It wouldnt be as infuriating if they had not been so vocal about their warranty the whole time. They told me over and over again about the coverage and how great the warranty is. The second youre outside the life of the warranty though things will start falling apart. Its happened with every Hyundai Ive owned. This is the last Hyundai I will ever own.
I was really excited to buy my first Hybrid. I have long commutes to work and wanted a car that could save me gas mileage. This car is a 2018, at the time of this writing it is now 2021 (4 years old!). In the time that I have bought it, the car died twice on the highway commuting to or from work. The first time it died there was no check engine light warning to indicate any kind of prevention to get the car looked at. I was just driving home and then a big yellow icon popped up. I was able to coast my car off the road and turn it off. I waited a bit and then turned my car back on. I was able to safely finish driving home before calling the service department at the Hyundai dealer in my area to take a look at it. After they finished and I paid for their services, no satisfactory answer was given for why it died or what could be done to prevent it. Just something about some kind of water hose being replaced??The second time my car died was this past Nov 1st. The day before I heard noises coming from my car but I couldnt be certain. Again no check engine light or anything. So as I drove to work again on the highway all of the sudden a check engine light comes on and my car dies. I barely make it to the side of the road again with smoke coming out. I called AAA to tow my car to the Hyundai dealer. They wont be able to look at it until mid December. All the local Hyundai dealers were booked. I took it to an auto repair shop to run diagnostics and was told my engine had seized. I would need to replace the engine. This car is only 4 years old, I cant believe it. Right now once I get my car in the shop, I am praying the manufacturer will cover replacement of the engine which I was quoted costs $10k! My remaining car loan is more than that. Come next year, whether replaced engine or dead car Im selling my losses and chucking it. Hence, my presence on ConsumerAffairs. Looking for a better reliable car. (Sigh) Hopefully I can warn others. Its comforting to see my experience is not unique to me.
The car is very durable but it makes noises on transmission changes especially when the eco boost is on. The dealership I went to was great. The salesperson was very knowledgeable on the car and the process was easy. The car was everything I was looking for with a little bit of an upgrade. Some things werent clear like how to update the nav system. The touch screen is not very responsive depending on if you are the driver or the passenger. The eco really does save on gas but it makes the change even slower when speeding up or slowing down.
@Hyundai Consumer Alert: My new Kona (8K miles) left me stranded 300 miles away from home, but @Hyundai Consumer Affairs doesnt care! Gas light illuminated and car is fully depleted of gas within a few miles. Roadside assistance brings small amount of gas, but car wouldnt go more than 40 mph on the interstate after refueling. Dealer returns car with note that no problem existed. Rental reimbursement claim denied We still dont know what is wrong with our car. Poor customer service. Declined my rental reimbursement claim. No way to appeal a reimbursement decision -- Per our case manager, Robert -- theres no one higher in the company with whom I can speak to about our concern. Design flaw that negatively impacts driver safety.
After having a 2016 Hyundai Veloster and having issues with oil consumption we are being told that due to sludge in the motor and supposedly we are needing a new motor that warranty will not cover a replacement and we are expected to be out of pocket $9400. This is absolutely ridiculous and was told by Consumer Affairs that there was no number for corporate who made the final decision to decline our case. Very unprofessional and no way to do business! This is the true definition of loophole! The car is still under the 100,000 or 10 year warranty!! I will be pursuing other resources and what I have to do about this! The ball was dropped and Hyundai doesnt care. They found a way out of doing the warranty work!
I purchased a new 2018 Hyundai Kona. After 15000 miles I needed a new transmission (it was covered) however my dealership did not have loaner cars so I had to pay for a rental, pay for Uber to get the rental, pay for the uber from the rental to pick up the car. Then to my surprise at 20000 miles I needed 2 new tires (which had 0 coverage). I was told to call Good Year. They covered the tire warranty.... Well 400.00 later I had 2 new tires for no reason except they were worn out!!! Hyundai basically said, Oh well!!! So the wonderful warranty they shove down your throat when you are looking is not all it is cracked up to be! BEWARE.
I bought a brand new Tucson 2016. After I drove it for less than 800 miles the Check Engine light came on. I took it to the dealer and was told a pin fell inside the engine and broke it. Dealer offered to replace the engine. Because it was a new car I refused. So, after a lengthy fight Hyundai finally agreed to give me another new Tucson. Phew... wait, I am not done yet. 2 weeks later I took delivery of the new Tucson and guess what? 1200 miles later, the car just stalled and would not start as I was driving in the middle of the highway. Now that was scary, in the middle of the highway at night! Luckily there was a state trooper nearby who was able to redirect traffic around my car while I waited for a tow truck. I had the car towed back to the dealer.After looking into it for about 2 weeks, they finally called me to tell me there was another problem with the engine and it could not be repaired. Again, Hyundai has offered to send a replacement engine. This time I refused and am currently fighting them for my money back. Consumer beware of the 2016 Tucson, they are junky.
Paint job on 2010 Elantra is terrible. Scratches on the least little things. Is there a recall on paint jobs for these cars?
Hyundai is the most morally corrupt of all car manufacturers. In my experience, our 2002 Elantra had multiple catastrophic failures under warranty. This could have resulted to injury or death, since the failures occurred while the car was in traffic. The first three occurrences were due to defective fuel injection. After three attempts by a completely inept dealer (Antwerpen of Clarksville, MD), it was finally fixed. The most recent was the breaking off yet again in traffic of a highly corroded front control arm, leaving left front tire separated from the axle and the car out of control. There was a recall issued in 2009 (ID# 09v125000) for this very problem. Antwerpen claimed to have done the recall work on my car when I took it in to them for service in February 2010 but the failure occurred despite this. They tell me now that all they are obligated to do is to repair the vehicle. I feel this car will never be safe to drive and I have asked them to give me a fair financial offer for buying back this defective car at its present value. This has been rejected.
In October 2013, I purchased a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. Unfortunately, I trusted my local dealer because Ive had a good relationship with them for four years. Thats no longer a true statement. While shopping, and let me say it was a 6-hour ordeal trying to purchase the car on day 1, I mentioned numerous times that I drive 200 miles round trip to work. I finally picked a car and had to wait hours to get into the finance office to firm it up. While waiting, I noticed that the sticker on the window said the car comes with an emergency tire puncture repair kit in lieu of spare. I stopped the deal and told the salesman I must have a spare tire and jack. Period. He assured me that theyd get me one, but told me it really wasnt necessary because the car comes with 5 years of roadside assistance. I asked him if we shouldnt amend the paper they had asked me to sign saying they didnt owe me anything. He assured me it wasnt necessary. When it was my turn in the finance office, I mentioned to that man that we had just discussed the fact that I must have a spare tire and he assured me that the salesman would take care of me. I signed up, trusting when I shouldnt have trusted. Let me state here that I told the salesman over and over again that I did not want this car unless there was a spare. Well, turns out they did not have the certificate of origination, so I had to wait several days. Because I changed my mind about using my old car as a trade in, I went back and re-did all the paperwork. Then they delivered the car to me - not with a full tank of gas, as promised by the salesman and the Hyundai car sticker. I asked where was the spare and the salesman had the gall to say, What spare? When I reminded him of our numerous conversations, he stated, I didnt tell you that. I didnt promise you a spare. That ensued in an argument, and it didnt end well. In fact, I was instantly sorry I had bought the car. My mistake. I should have immediately refused delivery and demanded to see the manager. We told the salesman to order me a tire, and he said it would cost over $300. Well, why didnt they offer to add one on for $300 when I was paying for the car? Again, he said to me, If you get a flat, just sit in the car, lock the doors, and call the 800 number for Roadside Assistance. More lies.I spoke with the manager the next day and he said they would split the cost with me 50/50. I told him I was furious about the lies I had been told, but 50/50 was the best he could do. Since I was willing to pay $300 the day prior, I told them fine. 50/50 was cheaper than I could buy it myself. Wrong again. When I got home, I started reading the owners manual and on page 10, in fine print, it said that roadside assistance is good for 5 years for everything EXCEPT flat tires when the person was provided with an emergency puncture kit.I had just cancelled my personal roadside assistance plan! How in the heck does Hyundai think a puncture kit is going to help if I have a flat 100 miles from home, or late at night when no garage is open? This is a safety hazard. Even worse, they are using unfair consumer trade practices. The big signs on the dealership wall saying 5 YEAR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE sure dont have an asterisk and fine print below telling you what it doesnt cover. The salesman never once said they could not offer me a spare and jack as an option. In fact, he blatantly lied and said roadside assistance would cover me if I had a flat.Now let me tell you something Hyundai should understand. I would prefer to have NO ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE and a spare tire than this pack of lies! They obviously didnt do any focus groups before they implemented this stupid marketing measure. They have lost me as a customer forever, and I believe a class action lawsuit is in order. As for the local dealer, they have lost my business. They sell Hyundais exclusively, so they better start praying for their business. They are going to learn that being disingenuous to customers in a small town will put them out of business more quickly than anything else. As for me, Hyundai sucks as a company. Id give anything to go back in time just a few days. Id rather give my purchasing dollars to a company with ethics.
I am using a Hyundai (I-10) car, about 2 yrs old. It has a major defect since I bought the car. I sent it to the showroom many times where I bought it from. But my prob is not yet solved. Due to this problem, I am putting a case against your Hyundai company.
We leased a new 2016 Hyundai in December 2016 and had nothing but trouble with the lease from the very beginning. Our Santa Fe was leased from a dealership in Colorado. We had no trouble on a previous lease but this time the communication between the leasing company and the dealership was horrible. The salesmen on the floor were using filthy language and the finance person didnt send the paperwork and our payment up front in for almost 60 days. Hyundai leasing called us to tell us we were late on our payment when we had not received any paperwork yet to make a payment. We set up payments through our bank and about 14 months later after the finance company did an update on their software they called again to tell us we hadnt paid our payment and our bank had not accepted the payment. We had received a confirmation number on the payment. The finance company was ready to ** us. Then I had them look at the bank info on their end. IT WAS INCORRECT!!! Our account showed no change(?). Again they fixed it and apologized to us. We couldnt wait to bring the lease back this December which by the way, was in EXCELLENT condition and 7,000 miles below what the millage of 30,000 miles. The dealership tried to sell us the car but we just turned it in. They had us sign a paper (which we never got a copy of) and said that was it and we could leave. Today we got a bill telling us we still owed $433.00 to bring the car in at the end of the lease that we were still responsible for the final payment and if there was any damage to car we turned in-we would be billed for that (???) plus a late fee if they didnt get the $433.00 in 15 days. Good grief! I had thought it was OK to drop our auto insurance when we turned it in!! What if they sold the car or were allowing people to test drive it?? We called Hyundai finance and they said it was their bill and not the dealerships. Nothing was said to us when we returned the PERFECT car. This sounds like a legal scam!! This never happened with our first lease. Why this time?? Its not like we have so so credit; it is over 800! This has been so distasteful that we will never go back to Hyundai nor will we consider a lease again. We will make sure to tell everyone we know not to lease from Hyundai. By the way; we immediately paid the $433.00 and got the CONFIRMATION NUMBER however they said it would take them two weeks to get the paperwork to us showing the lease was paid in full. Additionally, they said they couldnt send an email showing the final payment and release of the lease. I will be waiting and watching our bank account because-again-I DO NOT TRUST THEM!! We are not sure if they will do as they told us or will they say the payment didnt go through and bill us a late fee??? VERY unhappy with Hyundai and Hyundai finance.
I have a defective Santa Fe Sport Turbo 2017 SUV. I had problems with it from day one... just got worse. Has been to 3 dealerships, same problem, loses power when going over a bump or rough surface. Got worse as time went on. Was in shop 6-7 times. Almost got killed in it when engine stopped working driving on 65mph road. Smoke coming out of SUV. Finally diagnosed with a faulty engine off the assembly line... over $17,000 repair. Not even 2 years old, I have a 3 year lease. Asked Hyundai to release me from the lease and take defective car back. Hyundai WONT... expects me to keep defective car. I do not feel safe in the car no matter what at this point. Hyundai wont take defective car back. This is NOT fair or good business. How can they make me keep a DEFECTIVE car???
The main issues I have with the vehicle are fairly minor, although some could potentially be a major issues. When creating a rear deck for transporting items, the rear passenger seats dont fold down perfectly flat. I ended up building my own slide-in deck to compensate for the slightly lifted rear passenger seats. The adaptive cruise control seems a bit laggy adapting, but that is probably why the manual says it cant be trusted if theres a difference in speed between vehicles over 35 mph.I also live in California where motorcycle lane splitting is legal. The problem is it can confuse the adaptive cruise control. Very frequently Ill be going 40 mph (rush hour traffic on a freeway) and a motorcyclist will blast by in between the lanes at 60+ mph. About 50% of the time the cruise control will start tracking the lane-splitting bike and suddenly accelerate, potentially causing my vehicle to smash into the vehicle ahead of it which is only going 40 mph. Fortunately, the cruise control has always been buggy enough so I typically keep it on a short leash anyway, ready to brake. But it is a potentially dangerous annoyance. Im not sure whether its just bad luck, but my Santa Fe has been broken into more in the first year of ownership than in all the other vehicles Ive had since I started driving 40+ years ago. Its probably because its new looking and its an SUV which has no lockable trunk. But here is the problem with the vehicle: In all cases when my vehicle has been broken into, Ive been less than 100 to 50 feet away and heard nothing. In the last instance, I heard glass breaking but no alarm. As far as I can tell the alarm is useless. The blinking light on the dash is just a bad joke. Im definitely looking into some aftermarket alarms now. If there had been an alarm, as it claims to have, then I would have been alerted and been able to stop the burglary. I know this to be true because I stopped a theft on my prior vehicle because its horn went off when the window was broken, and I ran right out and chased off the burglar before he was able to carry off anything.Also, although I know this a problem of all SUVs, it would be nice to have a secure, lockable cargo area. As it is, anyone breaking into the car can easily steal anything as there is no place to hide anything, except the glove compartment. Also, when I see vehicles that have been in rear-end accidents, the vehicle doing the rear-ending usually takes most of the damage, with a crumpled hood and such. When my Hyundai was rear-ended at low speed by a sedan half its size, my SUV somehow got most of the damage. The auto repair shop sent the insurance company a $5000 bill. Which it paid, but still that suggests a fairly serious bumper design issue. Even the first vehicle I owned from 1980, a Toyota Tercel, would have not sustained that much damage if it had been hit similarly in the rear. Of course it also had thick rubber bumpers, but still, this is a $45K vehicle.
From yesterday tried register complaint. After big circus I have registered complaint today, Complaint No: **. But till now no one came from roadside assistance team to take vehicle from spot. This is worst customer support. No time value just telling lies to customer and no values for customer complaints in Hyundai motors. I made big mistake by choosing Hyundai :( Please improve your customer services ASAP. 1/10.
My Hyundai is a great low maintenance car that has good gas mileage. The size is just right without being too big. The interior is spacious with cloth seats which are preferable in the hot south. Seating was still roomy and I also liked the storage space. It was in silver tone which was also better for this climate. I chose model based on consumer and technical reviews. The price was just right for my budget and it came with roof rack. The Hyundai models are much improved these days. I think Hyundai has come a long way in building reasonably priced and sound vehicles that are dependable.
