I moved to Florida and called HYUNDAI title and registration dept so they could fax the paperwork and they agreed. So I went back to the FL DMV to check on and they said had never received any registration paperwork from Hyundai!!! So a week later I called Hyundai TITLE REGISTRATION - again they agreed. I called the Florida DMV. The DMV - nothing had been SENT!!! One more thing, FLORIDA IS ONE those states where they don’t accept OTHER STATES REGISTRATION.

I had never bought anything but a Chevrolet or a Ford and I always had a full size car. The Hyundai was the first foreign car and the first small car that I have purchased. I love the way it drives and the MPG. But I did have a problem with the seat belts that the dealership refused to acknowledge and fix and the tires that came with the car were not good. It also did not come with a spare. I will never buy a car without a spare again.

My wife and I purchased a new 2010 Hyundai Sonata. We purchased this car because my wife commuted to work about 80 miles one way and liked the fact that it had the 100,000 mile warranty on the engine. The car has been great mechanically but now the exterior door handles are breaking off. I have since found out from 2 different dealerships that this is a known problem and was directed to file complaints with Hyundai and my Attorney General’s Office. Hyundai did contact me to address the complaint but refuse to offer any kind of assistance to repair the handles. I would not recommend this car to anyone looking to purchase one. This is not an isolated case. It is a known problem.

This is how they rope you in to buying their crummy cars “We have American’s best Warranty.” Don’t ever expect to use it though when you need it. They’ll do everything in their power to get out of having to pay to fix your car when something goes wrong. In my case, my whole electrical system fried within less than two years of having the car. Thinking I had “American’s Best Warranty” I thought, no big deal I’ll bring it in and they’ll fix it. Well, no, they tried to claim an animal chewed through my wires so it wasn’t covered by the warranty and I had to go through my insurance to have it fixed. Mind you, this is before I found out there was a class action lawsuit filed against this company for cars with unexpected engine and electrical failures and them failing to make repairs and weaseling their way out of them. They kept my car for 10 weeks trying to fix the issue and every time they fix one issue they would call back and say “oh turns out this is also wrong with your car because of the animal, you have to go through your insurance and put in another supplemental claim.” After 8,000 paid by my initial insurance claim and two supplemental claims of a 1000 a piece and a 500 deductible from me, they gave me back my car that still doesn’t work and still having electrical problems. Their response, we’ll diagnose the problem for 300 dollars to figure out what’s wrong with it now and now they want me to put in another supplemental claim due to another wire that was frayed due to “animal damage.” I can’t even trade the car in because no other dealer wants it due to all the problems and I still have 12,000 left to pay and a car that doesn’t function right.

2011 Sonata - I complained about the trunk opening for no reason. Nothing was ever done. I was told to not put the two keys together in my pocket or leave them together at any time. Most of the time I was looked at like I had two heads. I told the manager to look on the computer and see how many people were complaining about the same problem. Then I was told to bring in the car for them to look it over. I had the same problem with the 2009 Sonata, and after a bring-in service, I was told the problem was fixed. It continued! The problem is my wife who is handicapped loves this car. She doesnt feel comfortable in many cars because of the legroom. I am disgusted and I am looking to get rid of this car. Any suggestions?

Hyundai came through for my daughter after about two months. On July 23, 2013, I wrote a review about her clutch problems. Less than a week after she paid approximately $1200.00 and was told nothing was covered by warranty despite the fact that other technicians were saying it wasnt her fault and the work and parts should be covered by warranty, her clutch went again, same problem. This time, they issued her a complimentary rental, replaced all the parts, and reimbursed her for two thirds of the initial cost. By rights, the full amount should have been reimbursed but by that time we were just glad to be done with the whole matter and relatively satisfied with the end results even though it took quite a bit of doing to get there.

My wifes 2006 Sonato airbag light went off. We took it in and the dealer stated the seatbelt connector was defected. Even though we had an extended warranty, my wife had to pay to have it fixed. Just about a year after, the airbag light went off again and now the dealership will not cover its parts. The dealership said the part is now out of warranty and we would have to re-buy the belt. The belt works fine, but the light will not go off.

I was driving along a straight road 4 weeks ago when there was a sharp crack. A hairline crack appeared down the plastic decal of the climate control system and the audio system. When I took the car to the dealer they stated that it was a scratch and not a crack and the manufacturers have refused to repair it under the Warranty (there is a 5 year Warranty on this car). I am a 74 year old lady so there are no children in this car to cause a scratch - it is very definitely a crack, but the dealer says it is not. I feel as if I am now in limbo with this.

Watch out for the hidden disposition fee Hyundai Finance charges at the end
Watch out for the hidden disposition fee Hyundai Finance charges at the end of a lease if you return the car to a dealer. I leased a new 2011 Elantra and their dealer never mentioned about the disposition fee. When I returned it in June this year, a month later I got a letter from Hyundai Finance charging me $400 + $4.06 taxes. Given the car was in A1 condition (as per the lease end inspection report) and had only 21k miles on it, youd think they could waive the fee. They do waive the fee if you buy it or re-lease a new car, so why not with a low mileage, A1 condition car. After all, the disposition fee is supposed to cover the dealers expense in preparing the car for resale. What expense was there in preparation on my ex-lease car? Zero to none! Ive asked Hyundai exactly that in a written letter. To date no reply. All they want is the disposition fee. All you hear from them is its in the contract like a broken record. Its the last time I ever lease a car, especially from Hyundai. Stay away from them.

In early Jan. I bought a new 2014 Hyundai Tucson. Shortly after I started to notice a smell that I thought was just the car breaking in. After about 1,000 miles I asked the salesman about some smoking from the engine. He said it was probably just the new car breaking in. It seemed to disappear for a while. Then around 4,000 miles it seemed to start again or at least I started to notice it again. I made an appointment to bring it in for service and to check it out. They told me it was a cracked gasket and they had to order the part. They gave me a rental and I returned the next day to pick it up. Then they told me they found 2 holes in the manifold and it was leaking oil and they had to check with a tech to find out what to do. They had to order a new head and I guess rebuild the engine. After a week without my car I went in to see the salesman to see when it will be done and if they could do anything to compensate me for the inconvenience. They said they could put me in another new car (lease to own) for about 5,000 more dollars. Same payments and a buyout fee of about 12,000 dollars. I had a 6 year loan and this would be more than I signed on for 3 months ago (and about 4,500 miles ago). This is 4/12/14 and I still dont know when my car will be ready! I took it in on 4/03/14. I dont know if it will affect the car long term or not. Please let me know if there is anything I can do about it. Thank you.

I purchased a Hyundai Genesis Coupe from Parkway Hyundai (Wilmington) in 2014. I was informed by the salesmen that offered me the extended warranty that I would receive coverage for 100,000 miles. Not up to 100,00 miles, but good for 100,000 miles. Huge difference, as the car had nearly 50k miles on it already when it was purchased. I made it very clear to the salesman that I needed coverage for 100k miles. I would have purchased a brand new car, not a used Hyundai with only 50k mile warranty if this had been explained to me correctly, and now the dealership is leaving me out to dry with a car that is not drivable, a higher car payment than what I would have had with a brand new car, (because the warranty is factored into it), and they are feeding me a load of BS.I do not recommend ANYONE, even my worst enemy to purchase from Parkway Hyundai, and also the salesman by the name of Mitchell was very distant to me after I purchased the car. I would drive all the way to Wilmington from out of town and stop by to get an oil change and he would give me blank stares and would not even greet me. What kind of customer service is that? To be nice to me long enough to sell me a car and then treat me like chopped liver after the deal is done. I let that slide because he is a younger guy, I am probably the first he ever sold a car to and he is probably long gone now if he treated someone else the same way, but yeah, I am done with Parkway Hyundai for good either way. They can forget me or anyone I know ever purchasing a vehicle from them ever again.

I would like to start out by saying I will NEVER lease a car from Hyundai ever again. My girlfriend and I have had our lease for about 3 months and the customer service has been an absolute nightmare. I have been trying to get paperwork from the company to change my plates from PA to MA and I get a different answer from a representative every single time I call. Not to mention I am on hold for at least an hour and have called about 10 times. I will relay my experience onto anyone I know that is seeking a new car how much of a disappointment Hyundai has been. Its honestly embarrassing how inconsistent a customer service can be. I wish zero stars was an option.

I have a 2009 Sonata with leather seats and 56,000 miles. It’s still under the so-called bumper-to-bumper warranty. The leather on the drivers seat is cracking and peeling (the same thing happened to my 2007 Elantra). The dealer said it was a wear item and not covered by warranty. I asked them to show me where in the book does it say this, and they pointed to a short sentence that says any wear item is not covered under warranty. They told me Hyundai has a list of not covered items. I called Hyundai to complain and the first thing he said is We have an extensive list of items not covered by our warranty. Wow, it would be nice if they put this in the customers warranty information. He put me on hold, and then came back and said that seats and upholstery are not covered by any warranty, not even for one day for new vehicle. It would also be nice if they told the truth in their advertising. They use the warranty to sell their cars, but they are in fact lying about their warranty coverage.

Purchased a 2013 veloster turbo in feb 2014 off showroom floor... Purchase price 39 588 with extended warranty which at time of purchase was told warranty was bumper to bumper... Not long into owning the car problems started... Sensors navigation power windows airbag replacement just to name a few... All covered by Hyundai warranty... Now at 114 km was informed car needs new engine... which of course extended warranty will not cover... They deemed it normal wear and tear... Really?... When I complained to canada hyundai and ontario hyundai nobody wants to pay for it... Customer service at hyundai canada was appalling. Was basically told Oh well too bad you are on your own... Would not even give me a number for corporate hyundai...Now my question is... This make and model has already had a recall on the engine... Hyundai fix a computer upgrade. My question is how can hyundai canada sell this car on the market knowing from the get go this 2013 turbo had engine problems... Supposedly by the 2014 model they fixed the issues... Unfortunately this does not help me... The attitude from canada hyundai when I approached them for a fix was... not their problem... Would not do one thing to help me... Washed their hands of it... Hyundai canada once they get your 40.000 dollars thats it... I asked them who pays 40.000 for a car and needs an engine replacement at 114 000 km... HYUNDAI... Their customer service needs revamped... So disappointed in Hyundais reaction...Would advise do not purchase hyundai as they certainly do not stand behind their product... They passed off the problem to the consumer. This is a prime example of a cheaply manufactured car for a very expensive price... Hyundai canada would not help me at all... Very rude and unprofessional head office... My advice stay away from purchasing a Hyundai veloster turbo or any hyundai product... When you have problems with their vehicle they are certainly not going to help you, as was proven in this case... Totally gobsmacked at Hyundais response...

Terrible cars... worse service. I am the owner of a 2008 Hyundai Accent. It was my first new car purchase almost a decade ago. Thats great, except for when I actually took possession of the keys. Within three days the gas cap had to be replaced due to depressurizing. Then about 18 months later there was an issue where the key would go into the ignition, but would not turn. The wheel lock was not the issue. Roadside came out, and said one of the tumblers were jammed. They tapped the key with a rubber mallet, and the key went in without issue. Fast forward three years later, the original 5-year warranty had expired. This time the key would not even go halfway into the ignition. I had to pay $65 for a tow, $700 out of pocket for a new ignition, plus $200 for a rental car. The excuse I got from Hyundai of Bedford Heights, Ohio was that the weight of my keys were too heavy. There were a total of six keys on my ring. It took about a month, but they refunded me the tow and the ignition, and basically told me I was out of luck on the rental. Now there was the recall for the undercarriage rust protection in the snow-belt states late last year. Two weeks before I received the notice, the entire exhaust pipe from the front axle to the muffler fell off the car in the middle of the street. Driving it to a Midas down the street, it was found the pipe, and all the welds that attach to the undercarriage were RUSTED out... imagine that! That was $1,000 out of my own pocket. Thankfully, Hyundai offered a reimbursement program. I get a call several weeks after I filed the claim wanting to know exactly why I was filing the claim. I had yet to hear anything, so I wanted to see if they offered a status update. Sure enough... denied. So magically Hyundai offers to spray the undercarriage to prevent rust under recall, then tells you to stick it when parts have already fallen off due to the reason why the recall was initiated in the first place. I will never purchase another Hyundai again, and Ive gladly talked several friends out of purchasing their product in the last few years. I even laugh at people driving Hyundai vehicles with new tags on them, because I know the world of pain they are due for.

With less than 600 miles on my new Equus, it is in the shop because of a failed valve cover gasket, so I am told. It obviously was leaking when I bought it, as the very next morning, I was cleaning up oil drips from my garage floor. Because I bought it from a dealer some distance from my home, they could not see the evidence of oil leakage and opined that I was seeing air conditioner condensate from a drain line in the vicinity of the area I described as the problem area. After a few more days, and a trip I already had committed to, I got my local Hyundai dealer to pick it up and take a look. They called back and claiming to be astounded, confirmed that the fluid was indeed oil and was coming from a leaking valve cover gasket. I really like the car, but am not the least happy that I now have a vehicle whose engine has had to be repaired, though not the real guts of the machine. Still, as what is held out as their super luxury, top-of-the-line vehicle, this is a pretty damning circumstance. Who was asleep on the production or parts supply line? Anyone else have similar engine quality issues? I have not heard back because the parts must be ordered and then installed. Stand by. SO far, I havent been able to judge the service response.

I purchased/financed a 2016 Tucson Limited AWD in November 2015. In August 2016, I started experiencing issues with my transmission. Whenever I am in traffic, my car will buck and feels like its going to stall and sometimes barely accelerates. When Im stopped at a stop sign or traffic light and go to take off, my car barely accelerates. There are times where Im barely going 5 mph and the RPMs are high and then all of a sudden will start bucking and then go into gear. Ive had 3 almost near accidents because of this. When Hyundai came out with the DCT recall in October 2016, I brought my car to the dealership for service on the transmission recall. I continued to have the same issue, but it recently got much much worse. I brought my car back to the dealership on 4/1/2017 for the same issue. They performed the same exact recall again. As I was driving to work on Tuesday, 4/4/2017 my car started doing the same exact thing. I called the dealership right away and dropped off my car the next day. I picked up my car on Thursday, 4/6/2017 and drove it to work today, Friday, 4/7/2017 and I was experiencing the same EXACT thing. I drive almost 80 miles a day to and from work, always in traffic and Im terrified to be stuck in traffic, or to sit at a light/stop sign because Im afraid Im going to get in to an accident because of this. I called the dealership again today to let them know that Im still experiencing this and the service adviser left me a message saying that theres not much more he can do other than to keep performing the update on the DCT. That update was performed 3 times now and we havent gotten anywhere. Im terrified to drive around with my infant in this car let alone myself. Ive reached out to corporate and filed a case with them. This car is unsafe!!!!

I went to buy a Hyundai Elantra and after haggling over the price I was guided to a used Hyundai Elantra. I was interested in MPG and this used car had some remaining warranty and looked pretty good but they still couldnt get it to a price I could afford. So they asked if I did have a trade. I told the salesman I had a 2004 Civic which is not running, motor frozen. They said thats okay and added it as a trade to bring the financed price down to what I could afford. We sealed the deal after a full day of bull**. Three days later, the dealer called me and said its not a deal. They would not mail the agreement to the main office. I am so angry with Hyundai after being a previous owner of a 2010 Sonada. I will not go back. I was going to contest this reversal of signed agreement but I would have had to get a lawyer and I couldnt afford it. We use to have about same intervals in 1960 & todays synthetic oils it should be much longer. Hyundai still use conventional oil. This car (2008 Hyundai Santa Fe) has had multiple recalls on it. Several of them major safety concerns. One of them (NHTSA #10058931) due to an engine valve leak causing oil to leak all over the alternator. (I lost all control, power, etc on Christmas Eve barely making it off the road into a parking lot, but not a space). They fixed the front valve with the recall, but now there is a second valve doing the same thing. Not part of the original recall (at least a $500 fix out of my pocket) that at this moment I will get to be responsible for. This doesnt include the previous issue with the ESC or the new BAD electrical problem that affects the stop lamp illumination (so no brake lights), the ESC and several other things (oh, and Hyundai hasnt notified me of this new recall yet, but Im definitely having the issue). It can also affect the shifter and allow your car (when on) to be taken out of park when the brake pedal isnt pressed. Ive been supremely disappointed in the timeliness of communications on recalls, the multitude of recalls and the lack of willingness to fix all problems (e.g. the gasket heads). Ive included pictures of some of the recall statements from the NHTSA, etc.

My I20 had a heater radiator failure, I took it to Group 1 Hyundai Midrand. It took them 4 days to tell me that warranty has approved to fix. In the interim I asked for a quote as they were not calling me or saying anything. I had to leave go there and then two days later the workshop manager sends me an email stating that warranty approved and the part is in back stock from Korea and should take 21 days. Thereafter a week later I went to the branch to see on the progress. The parts guy didnt give me much. Promised to call but never called to date. You call they promise to call you back but never do. There is no customer service at that branch. Nothing at all.

Hyundai has been a good car. My husband also bought a Hyundai after I got mine. I will probably get another one as my next car, too. Its very reliable and has had very little issues. I liked that it is safe and its not too big and not too small. It gets decent gas mileage. I liked how it looked. The trunk is quite big. It has a very good warranty. However, I wish the music system was better. Factory battery didnt last too long. I would like a back up camera and Bluetooth features to connect with my phone.

My father owned a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. Previously the car had shown multiple failures such as the steering unexpectedly locking or brakes making loud obnoxious sounds. A few days ago my sister and mother had gotten into a car accident. The car had went airborne and went head first and hit a curb. The car is currently totaled and my mother had multiple injuries. The airbags had not opened during the process. This is outrageous and we would seriously like to have this problem solved. Luckily no one was in critical condition, but still this should never happen.

I have two Sonata 2015, which I have taken in for recalls and both days which has taken a total of five hours and ticking, and I was not impressed with how you come in for these services and you are not forewarned of the waiting time and, they keep bringing you a problem that you say no way. I havent had this car two years yet. I had work done on one of them on yesterday and by the afternoon, it was running okay before I took it in. Now the front end is shaking. Thinking of taking it to another dealer, and see what they say, and trading it. Too many problems for a car not owned two years yet and hours to fix and no replacement in doing it.

2011 Hyundai Sonata Engine Failure: 05/09, car stalls and will not start. 05/10, towed to local Hyundai dealer Northshore, Vancouver. Service Manager says before the vehicle arrives that it is probably because I do not change the oil. Service manager asks me to authorize payment to diagnose problem. I ask him why I would do that as the vehicle is still under warranty. Service manager says that they cannot proceed without authorization, and tells me the bill will be bigger if the engine has failed. I provide 3/6 service records with the last completed only 1 month before engine failure. Hyundai Canada denies warranty, no relief of cost due to lack of Maintenance. I have asked for all records and inspection criteria from Hyundai Canada and they have declined to provide. Talk to the garage. Its a great way to ensure no warranty is paid. Have Hyundai service garage charge the consumer/customer to prove that it was the consumers/customers fault. $228 for the diagnostic, $3500 for the engine, $1600 for the labor.

Their cars will leave you on the side of the road one day with no help. If they promise something get it in writing. If they recall something it will go to banks mailbox not yours so you have to check recalls yourself. They tell you when you buy a vehicle they if they need to fix it they will give you a loaner vehicle when its broke down. No loaner is given with extended warranty. They find a way to avoid it. They say they reimburse you for rental vehicles. They dont even have a department that reimburses you. Get everything in writing. I can tell you right now every 5k miles alignment was off. My shocks struts only lasted 20k. Replaced 3 times now. Tires wearing wrong since owned. The vehicle dealer alignment doesnt fix it unless you get alignment every 2 oil changes. Air intake funnel before the filter isnt really attached. Just sits there in front of snorkel transmission.Shifts rough when its cold. Their tint they offer always bubbles. The air conditioning smells like mildew shortly after you drive off the lot and every 5k miles after they fix it. Not sure how they fix it but comes right back. The gas mileage they state only lasts 10k miles. After that its about 5 to 10 less even with recommended tire inflation. The paint is horrible. Chips and flakes at 30k. Wiper blades need replacing. Right when you buy the vehicle motors are noisy of the lot and only get worse. The hybrid battery needs replacing at 60k and depending on how often you drive it voids your warranty and if you dont keep more than 30 miles of gas in your car at all times it voids warranty. The first day I drove off the lot my back passenger door lock started buzzing really loud every time I went from park to drive or lock the doors and they had to order the part. Took 2 weeks to get it fixed from day I took it in. Inside cabin is super noisy of outside traffic noise and tires when getting up to freeway speeds. I should have took a test drive on freeway because that would have been a deal breaker. Thats about it. Cant wait to get out of this vehicle. 5 recalls in the first year feel like this car is always at the dealership service department.

My first experience was when I received the recall notice for my 2006 Sonata about the airbags sensor for front passenger seat. I had Sports Durst in Durham check it when I took it in for service (been a while back) and was told nothing was wrong. Later, when someone over 90 lbs was sitting in seat, the airbag light would indicate that it was turned off. I took it to Crenshaw Hyundai in Burlington where they checked it. They confirmed it was faulty and mailed my seat to California for service. Now, my airbag light is back on again and was told by Crenshaw Hyundai that since it had been repaired, the recall work is no longer under warranty. It seems after reading all these complaints that it would not do any good to have it repaired because the majority says the light comes back on or the airbags failed to deploy in accidents or just deployed for no reason. I use to like Hyundais but after this I will never own another one nor recommend them.

2012 Hyundai Tucson. Bought my Hyundai late in 2012. My car has 86,000 miles on it (I commute for work) and the motor is shot. No noise. No lights. No warnings at all. I was traveling and engine light came on and thirty SECONDS later I was on the side of the road. I have had to argue through all of this with the dealer and Hyundai in order for my car to be repaired. I have (thankfully) kept all maintenance records through my mechanic. Needs new motor and there are none available because Sonatas were all recalled for the engine design issue. Same issue as the design flaw in mine but Hyundai gambled with lives and warranty that the engines wouldnt go until after warrantys were up. This has been a nightmare!!! They are telling me it is going to be 8 plus weeks before my vehicle is repaired. In the meantime the dealer has given a loaner car that is NOT comparable to my vehicle what so ever and it is the Sonata you know the one that has been recalled for motor!! Are you kidding me. Husband and I are speaking to a lawyer... Can you say CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT!!!

I purchased my Hyundai Tucson when I lived in MA. I moved to NH a few months ago and now need to register my car there. I went to the DMV, filed the necessary paperwork, and the state sent this request in, as that is their process. This was in mid February. I received a phone call on March 14th from a representative from Hyundai that they needed me to call them back to confirm my new address. I called them back that evening. I gave them my account number and my new address. I was told that was all they needed and they could now start the process. I contacted the state of NH on March 21st to see if they received the title yet, and they said they had not, and they suggested that I call Hyundai to get an update.I called them that same day and I was told that the note in the system said they were waiting for me to call them back, which made no sense because I had done just that a week ago. I was also told that they could not give me any updates because thats what the note in the system says and if I call and speak to someone else, they will tell me the same thing. I waited two days and called back for an update. I got the same response and this time, I was told that the state of MA was holding things up because the title is an electronic title.Well, I had my insurance agent then contact the state of MA once I received that update and the state told her that Hyundai never sent in the request. So, of course, at this point I am livid. I called Hyundai back again and I was once again told about the note in the computer, even though at this point I had called 3 or 4 times. This new person that I spoke to now tells me that what is causing the issue is that the state of NH sent in the paperwork that I signed, instead of me sending it in. What?!It has now been 6 weeks and I am told that it could be another four weeks due to the process at Hyundai. I am outraged at this. The process should have been kicked off on March 14th when I called back with the information they were requesting. I dont understand how here it is April 3rd and they still havent even sent in the request to MA for the electronic title? Its really a simple matter. NH just needs the title so they can turn it into a NH title because that’s where I live now. I moved with my fiancé. He filed his paperwork the same day as me, the state sent it to his lien holder same day, and he was l set as of March 21st. His lien holder didnt give him any problems. They just processed the request as they should have.As soon as this is resolved, I am refinancing my loan with my fiancé’s lien holder. I am very unhappy with Hyundai Motor Finance and I would never recommend them to anyone. They have lost my business for sure.

They said the auto payment was turned off and they were not sure why it was deducted. They said they would refund it but it would take another 30 days and assured me the auto pay was deactivated. Lo and behold another $279 was deducted from my account today and when I called, bottom line is it will take another 30 days to get my money and nothing they can do to refund sooner.

There is no reason other than, Because thats the way it is and because we can. What?? Really??That is how the conversation went. I asked to speak to someone who could answer me why and was told that, Everyone else will give you the same answer, the way it is and because we can. What kind of crazy monopoly is this. Any other year Sonata battery can be purchased elsewhere. They are unwilling to explain why, they are unwilling to require the dealership to sell the part at a reasonable price, nothing. In February 2016, we purchased a used 2013 Sonata Hyundai Hybrid with 47,000 miles. We also purchased the extended warranty. The car has a new car warranty in place, already of up to 120,000 miles. Total warranty period should be approximately 10 years. In March 2017, at 71,000 miles, the electrical (high voltage battery) shut down, the car just down and would not move in the middle of traffic. This happened 3 times before Hyundai was able to repair it so the car was running. This repair was completed March 30, 2017, along with a complete fluid change and tune up. Hyundai covered the battery under warranty and charged us for the fluids and tune-up.On October 2, 2017, the car completely seized up and engine began knocking. We had it towed into the Hyundai dealer. The car now had 81,000 miles total. We have contributed to only 35,000 miles. We have an extended warranty, but technically, since we are still under 120,000 miles, the car should be covered under factory warranty.Hyundai refuses to repair the vehicle, both their extended warranty department and the Hyundai corporate office claims that we are to blame for lack of upkeep. If this was not outrageous enough, Hyundai recently signed a settlement agreement regarding their 2011-2014 Hyundai Sonatas in which the customers stated in part: Plaintiffs further alleged that dealers frequently didnt replace the engine, citing the drivers alleged failure to regularly change the oil or failing to keep service records. Same thing is happening here, even though the settlement was reached and signed by all parties. There is no integrity in these large corporations anymore. We are without a vehicle in only one year (we put $10,000 and still owe).

I am at this point, a thoroughly dissatisfied customer with Hyundai. I leased this Hyundai 2016 Plug In Hybrid car from Hyundai in 2016 Feb and had a very good experience with the car all this while. I had been using the car for my 70 mile daily commute and loved the car. Then on May 18th, my car had problems - it refused to start in my office parking lot. I called the Hyundai dealership and they told me to get the car towed in so they can take a look. The car was brought in to the Hyundai service center. 3 days later, the diagnosis was that the hybrid battery needs to be replaced. The service technician expected to get the replacement battery in 5 days. 5 days later, no updates. I kept following up for the next 3 weeks, and still no updates. I finally escalated the matter to their consumer affairs department. They took two weeks to investigate, and came back with an offer to pay me a compensation amount, while I waited for the car to get fixed. The update they gave me then was that the car will be fixed by July 15th. By July 15th, they had no actual progress! And now, the latest update is that they will fix the car by August 21st! I am really disappointed that Hyundai has shown no interest in getting this fix expedited despite the fact that its already 2 months plus. A one year old car, in warranty, is just sitting idle in the service shop, waiting for a critical part! I have sworn off Hyundai for my life and would never recommend anyone to buy another Hyundai car ever again!!!

I recently had given my car for insurance claim. I went to a dealer known as Planet Hyundai located at Khokhra in Gujarat, India. They gave me a time of 20 days for the delivery. When I went to pick up my car I found out the work done on the car is not at all satisfactory. I would have got better results if I did not give my car into a company showroom. The paint looks completely different than the other parts of the car. They did not even pay attention to the jammed back door. I had to fix that up all by myself. Still today the problem is not solved and they are not ready to listen to my complaints. I had almost paid 7.5 INR in order to get my car done with the company. I would have at least saved 5k if I would have done it by myself or with any other third party agents except Hyundai authorized showrooms. I am complaining since 2 weeks now but all in vain. I would never refer any of my friends for Hyundai if this problem is not taken care of. I will also not stop complaining about it. And I would make sure that I don’t buy any more cars from Hyundai.

In April 2018, 11 months after purchasing a new Hyundai Tucson, the transmission began hesitating and shuddering. I complained at Weimer Hyundai and was told to read the owner’s manual and watch some videos on YouTube. These did not address the issue but I was told repeatedly that was how that particular transmission behaved. Then between Jan 25 and Feb 5, 2019, I had 4 service appointments at Weimer to address 4 issues. The continuing transmission hesitation and shuddering now with skyrocketing RPMs, the AEB dash light and alert dings continuously going off, 20+second hesitation upon takeoff and when attempting to increase speed after slowing down or in stop and go traffic, and the driver door lock button malfunctioning. Nothing was repaired.I opened a complaint with Hyundai Customer Service and was told to take it to Jenkins Hyundai. After waiting for 3 weeks for a service appointment opening, on Mar 11, I was told it could be a safety issue if the AEB were in a crash/near crash situation and didn’t operate as designed. I was told a 2 different wiring harnesses were being ordered and that it should be in for the repair within the week and I would have a loaner car. They would call when the parts came in. After not hearing anything for several days, I talked to Hyundai Customer Service about the lemon law buyback. They said it would take 30 days to reach a decision. Finally they sent an email saying they would not do a buyback. Finally on April 8, my wife went to Jenkins and spoke with a sales manager who said he would call her back that afternoon with an update. He did not call. On April 9, my wife returned to Jenkins and spoke to a service manager who told her the wiring harnesses were on back order. He said a serious issue had also affected massive numbers of Subaru’s and that because of that all the mechanic appointments and loaner vehicles were booked for at least 4-6 weeks out. He said he would contact Hyundai Customer Service, a couple of dealerships 90+ minutes away and his own staff and prepare a plan. From this point he wanted to handle everything via email to create a paper trail. He said he would have everything ready by noon on April 10 and would call with the plan. Instead, he emailed a request for videos of the issues. By April 11, the A/C had stopped functioning properly and by April 12 even the date and time were not displaying on the dash or radio screen. My wife submitted all this information and several videos to them. DON’T buy a HYUNDAI!

I was forced to sign a lease for 2012 Hyundai Elantra by Herb Chambers Hyundai of Auburn, promising a great deal and rebate. But they have put more than $3,000 above their MSRP of $21,495. They gave me no rebate. When questioned, they said this particular car doesnt have a rebate. But that car always remained in their specials page with all the other deals! They did all malpractices in the lease calculation and made me put a down of $530 - $2,000 cash and $3,300 trade-in. Still, they made my monthly installment $291.44 for 36 months with 12,000 miles per year.Their advertisement says MSRP $21,495, monthly installment $234 for $0 down! I paid $5,300 down but my installment is much higher than what their ad says. I contacted them many times with this but their response was so sarcastic and humiliating. The managing director asked me, Then why did you take the car? in a very sarcastic way. They even openly accepted that they put a higher MSRP purposefully and they do have the right from Hyundai to do so.I complained in Hyundai consumer affairs but they closed the case just listening to the dealer saying that they gave me a huge package of accessories which made the price difference. The accessories the dealer gave me did not cost beyond $1,000, but the lady who represented Hyundai was not willing to listen to me. She was in a hurry to close the case. I am trying to get justice in some or other way.

Twice I have had to pull my 2011 Hyundai Sonata over and get out of the car because of such strong fumes. I almost passed out twice. I took it to two service departments and they didnt say anything was wrong except a dirty cabin filter. Im terrified to drive this car. I also saw several complaints online about this issue.

We have had the 2014 Elantra a year which we bought directly from Woodland Hills Hyundai dealer. It wasnt cheap, as with the extended warranty of 100,000 miles it came to $24,000. We were never told the car did not come with a spare tire. We spent the evening of fathers day being towed back to the dealer and missing our plans because we got a flat tire. The response I was given as its like this in all the cars now. I know that isnt true, because we also bought a Toyota and Nissan which have spare tires. For a company that prides itself on safety, not having a spare or informing the purchase that there is no spare, is not ok!!! The car drives fine, but this to me reflects very poor customer service.

I really regret getting my car from Hyundai. Id be much more content spending more each month on a different car so that I didnt have to deal with Millennium Hyundai. The Service Department is rude. Im seven months pregnant with a toddler. I needed to know if there is a lender car available while my 2012 Sonata is looked at because Im not taking public transportation in the middle of the winter. I dont make car payments each month to take public transportation. The staff was rude when I called and when I asked to speak to the general manager, they claimed that he had just stepped out. I asked that he call me back before 5pm and to no surprise, he never called me back. The manager of the Service Department was not helpful, was impatient and condescending. When I finally did make an appointment, I got called into work that morning at the crack of dawn and couldnt drop the car off. Now, Im receiving emails and phone calls telling me to reschedule. But when I called, they dont answer any of my questions or offer any help. I cannot just drop the car off with a toddler, pregnant, take the bus and make it to work. Its not possible. I need Hyundai to work with me. I am now driving around in a car that stinks of fire and gasoline whenever I turn the heat or defrost on. Mind you, I have children in the car.Never again will I buy/lease from Hyundai and dont get me started on the tire pressure issue. Also, my husband went to the used car sales section of Millennium Hyundai. You would think they could get a name like first, middle, and last; especially since weve already done business with them! They keep calling and sending letters for (middle), (last), (first). Really? I cant wait for this lease to be up so that I can be done with this computer. For me, the consequence is that Im stuck with this car for the next 2.5 years. And for Hyundai, they lost a customer.

Update from last post. Nothing new on positive side other than more wasted time and lets say more salt water in the open wound. They call me back like they were concerned to follow up on the outcome. Follow up, I scratch my head as they said they wont cover what they have known was an ongoing issue even a class action law suit over the very same paint issue. Sorry you are outside the warranty period. I asked, Why are you wasting my time to only say what you said the last time. They make a car. They have a known issue with the paint adhering to the car. They dont tell you or post about it so you can stay away from buying a car with an issue. So you buy a car only to have to spend over $1200 to have the car roof stripped down and repainted. That people is a company that truly understands customer service. They dont stand behind their product when they know they have had an issue, we as the consumer have to pay for it in the end. ONCE AGAIN AND LET ME BE CLEAR I WILL NEVER EVER PURCHASE A NEW OR USED CAR THAT IS MADE BY HYUNDAI. If I sound upset you are correct.

We purchased a new 2011 Hyundai Sonata in 2012 from the dealership. We actually purchased it for our college students, however, my husband and I liked it so much that, we gave them one of our other cars to drive instead, and kept the Sonata for ourselves. We have told many people how much we liked the value of the Sonata, in price, appearance, reliability and gas consumption. Because we liked it so much, we decided on another Hyundai, and bought a beautiful 2014 black Hyundai Genesis. We have honestly been considering an additional purchase of another Hyundai Sonata for our youngest son. However, our glowing opinion has been cut short. At 98,000 miles, the Sonata began making funny knocking sounds. We took it into our trusted mechanic, and he tested everything, including codes and found nothing. Nor did the knocking continue while he was testing. So I could not recreate the issue. We went on our merry way, oblivious to the impending disaster. At 106,000 miles, the Sonata began stalling out, with the knocking sound returning. I brought it to my husbands attention and by the next morning, when we went to take it to the mechanic, the car would not make it. The engine kept stalling. We took it to the mechanic and he did his diagnostics and announced the engine was shot and he could either replace or we could have it towed to Hyundai dealership to see what they could do with it, possibly offer some assistance. We had it towed to the dealership, and they announced that they would have to submit a request to Hyundai dealership - to see what could be done about a new engine. At first, the dealership said the manufacturer would do nothing to help. We went back and forth, in the hopes that they would re-consider (knowing that we were loyal Hyundai customers). Hyundai responded that if the dealership installed a used-30K mile engine, then they would not offer any discounts or warranties and that would cost us $7500. However, if they were to install a rebuilt from scratch engine, then they would install for $4500. We are heartbroken. Our Hyundai is due to be paid off in November, and now we are faced with a $4500 out of pocket expense and still waiting to hear if there is a warranty for the repair. My husband is meticulous with his cars. We have four cars - A Toyota Sequoia, Nissan Armada, a Hyundai Sonata and a Hyundai Genesis. We had hoped to add a 5th - (another Sonata for our son), but that will not be happening now. Its dishonest to not reveal this catastrophic failure on the part of Hyundai engineering. And we actually selected the Genesis over the Infiniti and Audi - comparable models. I understand there are two class action lawsuits re: the seizing of the 2011 Hyundai Sonata and other new models. If a contemporary car cannot beat the 100,000 mile test, then you should spend your money on another company, like Toyota, that will go the distance. Both our Armada and Toyotas have over 150,000 miles and still going strong and running beautifully. Good luck to anyone considering a Hyundai purchase, Im sorry to report...

I have a 2007 Hyundai Elantra and my air bag light has been on for about a year. I had it fixed a year ago and it came back on about three weeks later. I went to the dealer for the recall. They completed the recalls on the connector cover and ACU programming and the light is still on! The dealer recommended I replace the front passenger seatbelt buckle, which I did and the light is still on! I suggest everyone on this site take five minutes and report your issues to the government at www.nhtsa.gov or call 1-888-327-4236. This is the only way we will get a recall to have this problem fixed. Obviously, the recalls out there arent fixing the problem so please call and file a complaint.

I do not understand, and I will try to summarize my experience so as to save everyone the grief of reading an extensive unpleasant experience. In short, I have leased with Hyundai since I was 20 years old. I am 24 now, and this car (so am on my second lease now) is one of the biggest regret of my young adult life. For my previous leased vehicle, I was hit with a bill of nearly 5,000 dollar, which a very big chunk of that money did not apply to my actual balance since I continued to lease with them. After the proper deductions, my bill went down to about 3,600. That is fine, except that each time I called to have a number confirmed, I received a different quote. I once called literally sobbing because I had no idea what to do, in which I was “helped” by a woman that talked over me the whole time, was terrible at explaining anything to me, and told me I could “get a second job” to try to pay for my balance. Okay. I paid the money and received a voicemail (not very clear to make out what it said) saying something about my balance. I called back to try to get back to that person, had their extension and everything to confirm that they received my payment, and literally spent 20 mins on the phone with someone, intermittently getting put on hold, only to be told they could not find the extension or the balance I was speaking of. I finally have let it go and assumed that they received my payment. This is the gist of that experience. Today, I called because I am having trouble with the radio playing over the music I am streaming, so I called to get help. The lady on the phone said “we don’t help with that, I can give a number of you have anything to write down” and I said that I was driving, asked if I could get forwarded to the proper place. So she forwarded my call, and a lady answered and I could not hear or understand her at all. Finally, she spoke closer and I could hear her louder but still not well. I explained my problem, she said “yeah we don’t help with that” so I told her I was forwarded and didn’t know what to do. She literally said “thank you have a nice day” and hung up. HUNG UP. I was mid sentence and baffled and honestly, I am starting to figure things out on my own whenever I have a problem with my Hyundai vehicle, because customer service has been so incredibly unhelpful, rude, and appalling to interact with, honestly. It’s so shameful, and I am not sure if this is normal? Do other vehicle companies do this to their customers? I am planning to purchase my current vehicle so I will be with Hyundai for a long time, which sincerely fills me with dread and I am starting to feel resentful. This has been a terrible experience since the start, and I don’t call anymore to spare myself the stress of interacting with these people. I don’t even have the words. Just absolutely terrible.

We bought this vehicle in the last week of December 2014 and got delivery on 2nd of January 2015. After couple of months the squeaking noise started from the sunroof. Went to dealership in March 2015 and they could not diagnose the problem. I went again after a week in March 2015 and they acknowledge the noise. They took the car and told me to pick it up at the end of the day. When I called them at the end of that day, they said, they do not have parts and it will take two weeks to get the parts.I called Hyundai Canada and talked to Customer Relation department. Their response was very cold and promised me to resolve the issue ASAP. Nothing happened for two weeks. Hyundai Canada also refused to give me a rental car as they said it is not a safety issue. But the dealership had taken the roof off and the car was not drivable. After many follow ups over the phone with Hyundai Canada, nothing happened. They continued promises without any outcome. They dealer said they have no control on parts. It took more than four weeks to receive the parts and finally in April they gave the car back to me.After driving for a week the squeaking noise started again. Went to dealership and they said that the mechanic who repaired the roof has gone to his home country and will not be available till the end of April 2015. I called Hyundai Canada and they gave no response. They said that they are sorry but there was no solution to the problem. I requested them to take the car back and give me a new one. They said Hyundai Canada do not have policy to buy back. Followed up with dealer many times with no positive response. In May went back to dealer and they did something to stop the noise. The noise stopped for a week and again started. Now the noise is so annoying that it is hard to concentrate on driving. I feel that I will meet with an accident as my attention is diverted due to noise.I have told Hyundai Canada and dealership that this piece is defective but they are not listening. I called dealership to look into this again and they have told me that they dont have a vehicle to lend and I am in waiting list. I called Hyundai Canada and spoke with Customer Relations and their response is the same as before. They continue to mention that they are sorry and trying to do their best to fix this. I am been trying to resolve this issue since last seven (7) months with no possible resolutions. I strongly feel that I am cheating and robbed. I am paying my car payments very regularly. We are middle class hardworking family and it is hard to meet ends. This is giving us lots of stress and anxiety which we do not want. We bought a brand new car to have peace of mind but this issue has taken all the peace away.I feel that as a consumer I have no rights and my hands are tight as Hyundai Canada and Dealership are playing games. On October 4, 2015 the speedometer blacked out, which is not showing the speed, fuel, fuel consumption, outside temperature, heating/cooling as well as the seat belt warning is showing. I called the dealer and they told me to bring the car on October 7th, 2015. They took the car and when I followed up with them at the end of the day on October 7, 2015, they informed me that the cluster (electronic part) has failed and they do not have the part. They will let me know when they will get it. Also they have taken apart the sunroof and for that they do not have the part. The service manager is telling me on Friday October 8, 2015 they still dont have the part. I followed up again on Friday October 9, 2015 and they didnt receive the part. The manager told me that he has no clue when the parts will come. The status is not showing as backorder as well. The Thanksgiving long weekend passed and I called the dealership on Tuesday October 13, 2015 in the afternoon to inquire for the status. The manager is telling me that they still are not aware of the status of the parts. He said, he will call me when they know the status of the parts, which after probing for many times, he said he cant tell me the exact day when the parts will arrive as the system is not showing anything. Also Hyundai Canada tells me that I am not entitled for a rental car as I have not bought the extended warranty??? The car remains with the dealer with no definite answer (October 19, 2015). Called Hyundai Canada and my calls were transferred to the voicemail for the customer relations. Waiting to hear from them.

Hyundai is ok but Im not really crazy about it. It has a jerking feeling when you take off from driving. It does drive good on the highway but it doesnt in town. I want a smoother ride in town and a fast car. I also wish I had a sunroof and a navigation. Even so, I like that it has 3 different drive modes. It has eco, turbo and standard. Hyundai Veloster 2012 - This vehicle caught fire while I was driving (rear bumper, passenger side). It was deemed a total loss. I lost all the money I put towards the car just to have nothing to show for it at the end. I could have been injured and was severely inconvenienced. Not to mention the stress that befell me during this time. I opened a claim with Hyundai motors. Not only did they NOT find what went wrong, but they only offered to pay my insurance deductible. This vehicle was always seen at a Hyundai dealership and had an extended warranty. My advice to anyone shopping for a vehicle; is to forego Hyundai, not only are they fire hazards, but they depreciate at an immense rate.

How can they sell a car with bad brakes. Also this car has an issue with the tire pressure sensor no matter what pressure you have. And now I am getting a fuel sensor error causing the check engine light to come on. Three weeks ago, I went to the Hyundai dealership in Huntington, NY 11743 (Long Island). I was interested in leasing a 2013 Hyundai Sonata GLS. My salesmen Bob ** had asked me which model I was looking at and I told him the 2013 Hyundai Sonata GLS. Mr. ** brought around a grey and what he said was the GLS. I test drove it and was pleased as to how smooth and quiet it drove, so I then decided to lease one and decided on black with grey interior. I arrived at the dealership and picked up my car. I drove it home and noticed that it was driving not at all as the demo. It was loud and there is a clicking sound coming from under the hood. That same day I called my salesman up, told him and brought it right to him. He claims that he didnt hear anything unusual and what I was experiencing was normal. I asked him why I didnt experience this with the demo and he didnt have an answer for me. Then they scheduled an appointment for me to bring it into service to look at it. It was there all day and they claim nothing was wrong. To make sure I wasnt losing my mind, I test drove another GLS in their lot and that was better than mine. The salesman said it drives the same as mine. I then went to their Hicksville dealership, test drove a GLS and that drove quiet and had no ticking sounds. I went back to Huntington and the sales manager Steve ** listened to the vehicle and claims that he didnt hear anything wrong. I drove the car and the sales manager was in the passenger seat. He refused to drive it and said nothing was wrong and he cant do anything for me even after I told him that I test drove other GLS and they were fine, unlike my car. The sales manager also refused to actually drive my car and see. He said, I am too busy. I am not test driving your car. I then went to the West Islip dealership and explained to them whats going on. A salesman there came out and listened to my car and he heard the ticking sound. He said that is not normal. Even in front of his manager he said he heard the ticking sound. I am so beyond frustrated. Getting a new car is supposed to be enjoyable and all I want to do is cry. Its now three weeks that I have the car. Something is definitely not right. Please help me.

While returning from destination 50 miles from home, we stopped to take a break. My wife noticed that the rear bumper had detached from the right side of the car. I was unable to snap it back in and forced to drive back with it detached. Because of the wind caused from driving, the bumper (made of rubber) tore even more.I brought the 2017 Hyundai Elantra Limited into the Hyundai dealer in La Quinta. They examined it and took photos, Their position was that it was caused by an outside force and refused to cover it under warranty, I escalated to the Hyundai Southern Regional office. After several days, they contacted me and agreed with the dealer. This is BS because the only damage they saw on the bumper was some missing paint on the underside. I checked it out and there was no paint missing, the surface was smooth, not rough as it would be if it was scraped. The paint was missing because it was not completely painted underneath. I extremely disappointed and would never buy a Hyundai again, I think they are cheaply made. The exterior dents with even a minor bump from a parked car door.

I currently own this 2015 Sonata limited and have seen very little of it lately. I purchased this car in October 2015. After around seven months of ownership, my battery went dead. I called service. They jump the car and figured that was the end of the problem since it was a very cold morning. A few days later the same thing happened again. Called the service. They jump the car. This time I drove it to Star Hyundai service. The manager at that time, Mike told me that there was nothing wrong with the battery and they were not replacing it. This was after two hours of trying to diagnose the problem. He tell me if it happens again I should have the car towed in. That is exactly what I did a few days later. He still refused to admit that there was something wrong with the battery. I then contacted the dealer whom I bought the car from who put the screws to him and he finally changed the battery. I thought this was the end of the problem. Wrong! This problem has repeated itself several times over the last few months. I have had three new batteries since the original battery put in to this car. I only have around 16,000 miles on the car. After the issue had escalated I contacted their customer care department. I was given a case number and a really horrible case worker. He never answered his phone, was very slow to get back to me. Kyle **. They advertise great customer service. HORRIBLE!!! I was forced to hire a lemon law lawyer. My car is presently in the shop going on 26 days. They could not find the reason for the battery failure. Fortunately for me, I was given a loaner. Now I am just waiting to see what they are going to do as far as replacing the car or offering me a buyback. I certainly dont want a replacement. This was my first and my last Hyundai purchase.

I currently own a 2005 Hyundai Sonata but decided to get a new car 2 years ago. Not knowing what I really wanted, I decided to lease a new 2016 Hyundai Elantra GT. Prior to the end of the lease in January 2019, I received a letter from the dealership stating that they will cover termination fees, excess wear and tear, disposition fees and over mileage fees. I leased a new 2018 Hyundai Kona in August of 2018. To my surprise, I recently received a bill from Hyundai Motor Finance Company for over $1,300. I have made countless phone calls to both the dealership and finance company to no avail. The dealer says they have done everything they can and do not understand the charges, the finance company says that they are just going by my contract and here I am stuck in the middle with a bill. I ended up paying the balance for loss of sale, a term I heard only after turning in the car. The Hyundai Motor Finance Company has even charged me $65.00 a hubcap for curb rash; $260 just for hubcaps! When speaking with one of their representatives, she explained that they want the car back in the same condition I got it in; In other words, they do not accept normal wear and tear. They are a third party just like any other bank and really dont have anything to do with what dealerships tells me. Unless you are willing to read all the fine print in your contract at the dealership, which is kind of hard because all they really want is to have you walk away with a car, take the contract home and read it before you sign for after it has your signature, you are legally bound to its terms. Dont expect the dealership to explain to you important terms like loss of sale; the difference you are responsible for if the car is not sold at auction for a price that covers the remainder of the lease balance. Call the Lease End department before you turn in the car and arrange for a pre-inspection so you can fix everything at a fraction of the cost. I could have replaced all four hubcaps for less than $100. I now purchased the excess wear and tear insurance for the new vehicle; lets see how that goes?

So I bought out my lease for a 2017 Hyundai Elantra Value Edition. I have reported numerous times to Hyundai’s customer care team and the Hyundai case management team, about the engine problems I have been having such as oil consumption and the intermittent stalling on roadways. The intermittent stall has almost gotten me into an accident numerous times and I almost got killed at an intersection from it stalling. I have brought my vehicle in into dealerships for inspection and servicing. Hyundai USA does nothing about it and simply brushed me off. Currently I have been out of a vehicle for over a week now since the check engine light came on and I am having problems with the ECM. My vehicle is at 104000 miles and the problems started at 70k miles. I have been in and out of mechanic shops to get it fix and it still has problems. I have requested to Hyundai underpins times that it needs a new engine and they just ignore my complaints and requests. If you are looking into purchasing a car I would never look at a Hyundai for the safety of yourself and your family. Please look elsewhere. I’m still making payments on a non working piece of junk. Please don’t be a victim. Look elsewhere.

I had a rotten experience with service. My brand new vehicle started to rust in the trunk immediately after I bought it. I took it to service. They identified the problem. They tried to correct it and it didnt work. It took so long that by the time they came up with a solution they told me my warranty was up. They just said, Sorry these things happen and in the end I would never endorse anybody to go to Hyundai Canada with this kind of service and product.

Pathetic service. First they booked the car at a great deal and I gave the booking cheque and documents also required for booking. They cancelled the booking and returned the cheque very next day saying that the car model and variant I have booked is already sold in their Ludhiana showroom and will be available in stock next year at an increased price and no discounts. God knows what a crappy inventory management system they are using. These guys spoiled my familys new year plans.

My wife and I finance a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. We have three small children and this is our only means of transportation someday a because my car is a junk box and doesnt work all the time. Being that this is our only car my wife is very very much on top of it, she takes it for oil changes when and even before it is due. We had gotten a recall in regards to the steering column and decided that the dealer we normally use (formally Brad Benson Hyundai, now DCN) is inconvenient being that its so far away and thought we would get the same workmanship that we have received in the past if we brought it to a closer location. We were so wrong. First, after the first recall they did not have a loaner car, so we relied on friends and family for a day or so. After picking up the car from freehold Hyundai, we noticed the steering was looser than usual and it had a knocking noise when the wheel was being turned. We called back FREEHOLD Hyundai and they said there was nothing wrong, so in that same day we continued driving. For about the three hours we had the car the engine was giving out on us... Again something unusual that was not there before we brought it in. So I said forget this. Im bringing it back to where it just came from. We went to FREEHOLD Hyundai and told them we cant drive the car like this... The servicemen named Issac was a bit understanding but not very because he kept telling us the steering was absolutely fine. They hold the car and the next day or so they called us and told us that our engine had caught fire... So heres what it is. I gave them a perfectly working car, and bring it to this chop shop and I get it back and my steering is all screwed up and then my engine just catches fire?? Im sorry but I call **. They have terrible mechanics at this shop and I believe, I firmly believe that they screwed something up as far as the engine is concerned and used the cover up that the engine caught fire because they knew there was a class action lawsuit against Hyundai for having engines going on fire after a certain amount of time. We were told at first that our engine wasnt going to be fixed for a few months because they were on back order because so many car engines were catching fire. So they did the right thing and issued my wife and I a loaner car for the time being. A month had gone by and we gotten news that my 8 year old son would need open heart surgery. Then someone posted a negative review about them not having a loaner car and we magically get a call the next day or so that our engine had been replaced and that we have something of theirs, and they have something of ours and we NEEDED to go and get our car. Thats not all. After giving this dealership a chance to redeem itself by trying to contact the man in charge of vehicle service, they wanted us to pay 1000 dollars to get everything fixed. Oh I forgot to mention that the power lock button was broken off and my cruise control stopped working all by itself!!! Isnt that magical??? We brought it to our own mechanic and he said that its a bushing on the steering column and is about 500 dollars to replace to the labor it requires. We have been back and forth with Hyundai the corporation for an entire week, with no resolution... Absolutely no idea from anyone to get the work done to get my wife and I our car back. So our car went in for a recall repair in July/August and it is now Oct going into November and I still dont have a car or any way to fix this. The corporation isnt working with me and the dealer is refusing to acknowledge any wrongdoing on their part. So here we stand, a minor recall turns into a disaster. We have tree kids one of whom was in the hospital in Queens NY and we live in NJ and no car!!! And no help... So heres what youre gonna do... Youre gonna go search cars companies that have exquisite customer satisfaction... And stay as far away from this ** of a company as you can. DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT buy a car from this company and especially stay as far away from FREEHOLD NJ Hyundai dealership. Its terrible and they have terrible and inferior people working there.

I bought this car when it was 3 yrs old and had it for 2 yrs. I noticed the engine took a long time to start and just got worst. When I took it in for a service they found the head gasket had blown. This is on a 5 yr old car! Whats worse is the warranty had just run out by a couple of weeks. I rang up Hyundai but they wouldnt repair it under warranty or goodwill since it just run out. You dont expect a head gasket to blow on a car this age. This is more common on very old cars with high mileage. Considering this is a very unusual thing to happen and with its warranty just run out you would expect Hyundai to fix it for me or at least pay some of the cost. The cost to fix it is just under a £1000 and the car is only worth £5000 :(

I bought brand new Sunday Tucson on February 3, 2018 in Keyes Hyundai Van Nuys. I drove about 2k miles when I started experiencing high noises, something like buzzing sound that was getting louder with accelerating. When first did the drive test, I was impressed how easy the car does drive, well it got worse when I started using it. Very unstable on highway, you can feel any crack on the surface you drive on, pretty loud inside. But getting to my issue, first I took it to check the tires, I was advised that it might be wheels bearing. Then took it to service, they have very odd hours and there is always empty there. They will not take you on Saturday for diagnostic either, so they did check my car and happened to be that the car transmission failed. Wow right after 2k, very unusual, anyways they got me loaner from Hertz and promised to get me the car in 3 days. I will be posting and blogging about this more. I feel I got lemon and more issues are going to happen. Very unsatisfied customer.

I love Hyundai. It has been a wonderful vehicle so far. I am very thankful for it because it has helped our family so much when we had nothing and was told this was a gift. It gave our family of 7 a roomy vehicle and able to get from point a to point b. We dont have to drive 2 or 3 vehicles to haul everyone around. It has automatic doors by button, different heat settings for front and back, lots of seating for as many people as we got and it gives us ease that we will always have it. However, it is very hard to fix some of the issues that it has because parts arent cheap for it. But thankfully a friend of mine has came to the rescue once on fixing an issue Ive had with the van. Its also hard on gas which is frustrating and sometimes parking is an issue. You cant park in a tight spot because of how big the vehicle is.

I purchased a 2015 Hyundai Elantra on November 26th, 2014. The car was brand new when I purchased it. On December 23rd I noticed that my break lights would not turn off after having parked and removed the key. I was unable to get the light to turn off, but I had a trip scheduled to visit family during the holidays. I was forced to leave the car at my house in its present state. When I reached my destination on December 24th I called Hyundai (Lithia Springs) to tell them about the issues and to ask them how they wanted to handle this issue. The service representative told me to bring the car in on January 3rd. When I returned to Georgia I brought the car to Hyundai. While driving the vehicle I could smell a strong odor reminiscent of spoiled milk. When I arrived at the dealership they examined the car and initially told me that the issue was with the break clutch not depressing properly. After the technician replaced this part he returned to tell me that he was unable to correct the issue and that he suspected it to be an electrical issue. He requested that I leave the car with him so that it could be worked on and placed me in a loaner vehicle.I received a call today (January 6th, 2015) and was told that the issue had been isolated and that the car was not sealed properly and water had caused the electrical issues I was having. Mr. ** told me that the car would need to have the windshield removed, carpet removed, dried, and resealed. I expressed my concern with this and let him know that I wanted the car replaced immediately, to which he did not reply. I called back to speak with the manager Mr. **. He told me that Hyundai manufacturing would most likely not replace my brand new vehicle and that all he could do was try to fix the issues. I am truly unhappy and want my money back or a brand new car. I havent even driven this car 1,000 miles and not only am I without a car, but I am still being forced to pay for a car that was garbage when I bought it. Hyundai needs to give me my money back or replace my vehicle!

I stumbled upon this website when reading about tires, and was surprised to see virtually every car company with such horrendous reviews. Then I realized its merely a sounding board for angry people with car troubles. I just wanted to share a little about my little 2013 Elantra GT. I bought it new, have done all maintenance in my garage, have used nothing but full synthetic oil and Hyundai brand parts (filters, etc to avoid warranty issues), and in return? Its been hands down the best car Ive ever owned. Nothing has failed in the first 3 years, 40,000 miles. No car Ive ever owned has accomplished that. It rides like its brand new, no squeaks, no rattles, no nothing. Comfortable as can be, averages 32 in the city, 36 on the highway. Ive owned many compacts in my life, none have come even close to this level of ride quality. Simply put, we love the car. Its our first Hyundai, and we would buy another in a heartbeat. And basically, this is merely a message to take everything you read online with a grain of salt. Including my review. Occasionally, youre going to get a car thats awful. I had one. 2012 Impala, kept it 9 months. It went back to the garage under warranty 11 times in those 9 months. Eventually, you just have to make a judgment call. Do you keep a car thats been nothing but problems? Or do you try something else. We now own a Hyundai and a Nissan and have been thrilled with them. Will I ever buy another Chevrolet? Sure! I just got a lemon. It happens. It totally stinks, but it happens.

We have a 2010 Accent and bought Hyundai dealership parts (tire sensors) and had a Hyundai dealership install the parts and two were defective but I didnt find out until driving the car home. I had to pay the dealership to take out the two bad sensors and reinstall the old parts until they found (4) working. I incurred several hundred in cost for the defective parts and the maintenance charges to deal with the defective parts. Customer service made me jump through hoops with documentation (which I provided) and then more documentation (which I provided) then more documentation including title/license copies? I finally lost my patience after months and had to file a small claims case. Their CA offices are apparently closed so I cannot serve their legal dept? I wrote a letter to their legal dept November 22, 2021 and havent heard anything from anyone at Hyundai. In the mean time Im out $700 + dollars since July, 2021. What kind of treatment is this for their defective parts?

Title release - Hyundai Motor Finance - I sent in a check overnight paying off my car. I was told the title would be released within 38 hours. After a week, I called and learned it wasnt released but that it would be sent on the next business day - Monday for overnight deliver. It wasnt sent until Tuesday regular deliver and told it would arrive on 7-10 business days. Awful customer service. One lie after another. Company does not follow protocol. Awful. Awful, awful.

I bought Hyundai Sonata Hybrid 2016 brand new to today September 10 2019. I must spent more than $5000 to $7000 on maintenance. The car looks good looking at it but not reliable at at all. It’s sad they can get away with this kind business. The dealership seems like they don’t know anything about this car. I will come with problem and leave with same problem. This is my 6th car. I never had any experience like this.

I have been a Hyundai customer for many years. Fortunately, I have only had to call for roadside assistance a couple of times. They were courteous and prompt. Very organized and very professional.

I called because I have a 2011 Sonata with only 67000 miles and have had engine repaired and now axle and I paid out of pocket for wheel bearing which should have been cover. The supervisor CODY was rude and his tone was uncalled for and instead listen and trying to rectify the situation he just stated that, case manager will contact you in 3 to 5 business days. He also stated that it is not Hyundai fault and that I the customer needed to the dealer and take care of it. I thought Hyundai and the dealer were a part of the company, I guess Im wrong. Very disappointed and will never buy a Hyundai again!

I purchased a brand new Hyundai Tucson Sport in December 2019 off the showroom floor. I paid cash for it. In February there was a clicking noise so I took it to the dealership. After diagnosis they said that a rod was coming loose and they would have to replace the motor. I only had 2000 miles on it. I should say Im 70 years old and I treat my vehicles with care. After replacing the motor it never ran right. I talked to the service manager and he lead me to believe that a rebuilt motor could have been put in it and could not confirm to me that it was a new motor. After taking it back due to low power I got frustrated with Hyundai and I traded it in at CarMax on another brand of SUV. Ill never own another Hyundai again.
