2026 Honda Civic Type R

The 2026 Honda Civic Type R is the highest-performance version of the Civic lineup and one of the most focused front-wheel-drive performance cars currently produced. It is designed as a track-capable hot hatch while still remaining practical enough to be used as a daily driver.

Overview.
The 2026 model largely continues the current FL5 generation that debuted in 2023. It retains Honda’s formula of a lightweight, driver-focused chassis combined with a turbocharged engine and a traditional manual transmission. The car is built in Japan and sold globally as Honda’s flagship performance Civic. The styling is aggressive but more refined than previous Type R models, featuring widened fenders, functional aerodynamics, and a large rear wing designed to increase downforce at high speed.

Engine and Performance.
Under the hood is a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine using Honda’s VTEC system. The engine produces about 315 horsepower at 6500 rpm and approximately 310 lb-ft of torque between 2600 and 4000 rpm. It uses direct fuel injection and a turbocharger producing over 25 psi of boost. The redline is around 7000 rpm.

Power is sent exclusively to the front wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. Honda continues to emphasize driver engagement, so there is no automatic option. The transmission includes rev-match control that automatically blips the throttle during downshifts to maintain smooth gear changes. A helical limited-slip differential improves traction and helps reduce wheel spin when accelerating out of corners.

Performance figures depend on conditions, but the car typically accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in roughly five seconds. Top speed is around 169 mph. The Type R is widely considered one of the fastest front-wheel-drive production cars on road courses thanks to its chassis balance and grip.

Driving Modes and Handling.
The car features four selectable driving modes: Comfort, Sport, Individual, and +R mode. Each mode changes suspension stiffness, steering feel, throttle response, and exhaust sound.

Comfort mode softens the adaptive dampers for daily driving.
Sport mode sharpens response and increases suspension firmness.
Individual mode allows drivers to customize settings.
+R mode is intended for track driving and provides the most aggressive settings.

The suspension system uses an adaptive damper setup that adjusts in real time. The front suspension is a dual-axis strut design that reduces torque steer under heavy acceleration. The rear uses a multi-link layout for improved stability in high-speed cornering.

Large Brembo four-piston front brake calipers and vented discs provide strong braking power. High-performance Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires are mounted on 19-inch wheels to maximize grip.

Exterior Design.
The exterior design is both aggressive and functional. Every aerodynamic element serves a purpose. Large front air intakes improve cooling for the engine and brakes. The hood vent helps release heat from the engine bay. Wider front and rear fenders accommodate the larger wheels and tires.

The most distinctive element is the large rear wing. Unlike decorative spoilers on many cars, the Type R wing is engineered to generate measurable downforce. The rear diffuser and triple-outlet exhaust system also contribute to the car’s aerodynamic balance.

Interior and Technology.
Inside, the cabin focuses heavily on the driver. The front seats are heavily bolstered sport seats designed to hold occupants firmly during aggressive driving. Red accents and Type R branding are used throughout the interior.

The steering wheel is wrapped in Alcantara to improve grip during spirited driving. A digital instrument display includes performance data such as lap timing and vehicle telemetry.

The car includes a data logging system that records driving metrics including lap times, acceleration, and braking performance. This system is designed for track enthusiasts who want to analyze their driving.

The infotainment system includes a touchscreen display, smartphone integration, navigation capability, and a premium Bose sound system with multiple speakers.

Safety systems such as adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking, lane keeping assist, and road departure mitigation are included as part of Honda’s driver assistance package.

Pricing and Market Position.
The starting price in the United States is roughly forty-six to forty-eight thousand dollars depending on destination charges and options. That price places it among high-performance compact cars such as the Toyota GR Corolla, Volkswagen Golf R, and certain entry-level sports coupes.

However, the Civic Type R is unique in that it remains one of the last performance cars in its class offered only with a manual transmission. This commitment to a manual gearbox has helped it build a strong reputation among driving enthusiasts.

Reputation.
The Civic Type R has become legendary among hot hatch fans because it combines extreme handling capability with everyday practicality. Unlike many sports cars, it still has four doors, a hatchback cargo area, and enough comfort for commuting.

Because of this balance, the Type R often receives praise for being both a track car and a practical daily driver.

In the performance car world, it is frequently considered one of the best front-wheel-drive performance vehicles ever produced. Its combination of power, precision handling, and driver engagement continues to define Honda’s high-performance philosophy.

There has been a recall on the Honda Insight. I had my car repaired before the recall happened. They have offered to reimburse after the recall happened. I sent in all the forms needed to make this happen. I have spoken to Luis at customer service many times. They are now asking for the receipts of the actual parts bought by the garage that fixed my car. That garage is asking for a $75 fee to do this. Honda does not want to pay it. I do not want to spend any more money on this. The repairs are a good $500 less than what Honda quoted to fix it. I feel they are doing this to drag it out. In hopes that I will not pursue the refund. I am disappointed that I have been given the runaround. This is a defect on the car which I had fixed for less than what they would have paid. They should pay the $75 fee to get receipts.

Worst brand new car I have ever owned. One year ago, I Purchased a brand new Honda HRV from a new car Honda dealer in Puerto Vallarta. To begin with the car which is supposed to be very easy on gas never gets more than 15 miles on a gallon no matter how I drive. Unless you drive on the most unblemished smooth as roads in the world this is suspension is terrible and incredibly bumpy. In less than one year the dashboard rattles like it’s a 15-year-old jalopy. The air conditioning does not blow strongly enough to even moderately cool down the car in warm weather. So far the dealership is offered to do nothing about the terrible gas mileage saying they’ve checked the car and it’s fine. I will be bringing in the car to correct the other problems but I have no confidence they will be fixed either. Honda should be embarrassed to have put out a model that is this terrible.

I bought brand new Honda Accord EX-L in 2014 March. It suddenly wouldnt start. Battery was brand new. Had it towed to Honda dealer and they said starter is gone - brushes inside are corroded, which is a component failure, they charged me a lofty $ 750 for this repair. I called Honda and they said they couldnt do anything since this was out of warranty. Dont ever buy a Honda.

My 2019 Honda Civic, brand new 3 weeks ago, has been in the Honda service department 7 times for the same problem. The low tire pressures warning light goes on after 2 days driving out of the service department. I have been given 7 different explanations & as many attempted repairs... Down to new tires. The problem is still NOT resolved. I bought this car for my teenage daughter because of its purported reliability & safety. The last time it arrived to the shop with a flat tire due to “manufacturing defect”! 1 of the 4 tires was replaced. Today they are saying a 2nd tire needs replacing. Would you allow your teenage daughter to drive this car? I am extremely distressed and she has spent more of her college summer break waiting at the dealer! This situation meets the trifecta of the LEMON LAW criteria. This vehicle is unreliable & downright dangerous.

Please note that I have a severe problem with my car, although I requested many times to check the sound that Ive always heard from the first day Ive purchased my car. And during my last service, I asked formally to check for this sound which has always repeated and asked them to mention it in the car job, and finally, they told me it is a small spare part that needs to be changed and it will cost 7,000 EGP!. How come I have to pay for an item which causes the problem that existed since the first day I purchased my car. Please, I need your support as I already did escalation in Honda Egypt, and no one even tried to call me.

I bought a new car Honda HR-V 2018 at Honda auto plaza mall (Nostrand avenue in Brooklyn). I dont know that is going on but this car has been giving me so much problem. This car stopped with me in the middle of road. Sometime the steering wheel just locked when I am driving and the dash just went black. I brought it to Honda but nothing got done cause it is still giving me the same problem. They want me to keep driving it like that cause they cannot figure out the issue. I left the car with them until they can fix it. If you love yourself and your family do not buy this car. I cannot keep risking my life and the life of my family driving that car. I could understand if I bought a used car but I bought a new car. Hope this review will help you in your decision. Please see video.

I have had over a dozen issues (with most still outstanding) with my 2016 Honda Civic and Honda Canada has been using gibberish excuses to stop repairing my vehicle under my valid warranty. Be careful of excuses like Cannot Replicate as this is their first attempt to avoid the costly repairs associated with your vehicle. Honda Canada representatives have assured me that no photos, videos or witnesses means nothing to them, thus ignoring your concerns and complaints going forward. There is nothing you can do because they have already taken your money. Even if they lose you as a future customer, they know it is still cheaper for them than to have fixed your car under your valid warranty. If you do duplicate the issue to only a Honda Service Manager, then they will use another corrupted tactic and deem the issue as Its just the normal characteristics of the vehicle and now your vehicle is fixed and they will no longer deal with that issue, even if you threaten to take legal action. They just dont care. Their tactic includes losing customers as long as they DONT pay for your repairs. They are convinced that they can bite the hands that feeds them and still get fat. If that isnt arrogance then I dont know what is.Unfortunately theres nothing you can do but spend thousands of dollars for a lawyer to take them court, and knowing that the customer cannot usually afford it and just gives up, theyre content to have saved the shareholders the costs of your repair. But you can do something about it. Share this warning with family and friends and tell them to do due diligence before buying a Honda product. ***BUYER BEWARE; YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED***

I have been driving Accords since 1989, I learned a very valuable lesson. Once you have purchased your vehicle (this is my third Accord), per Honda of America any dealership has the option not to service your car. I was told to find a dealer that would work on my car. In my opinion this is not the way to treat a LOYAL customer. I have sent many individuals to purchase this brand---No more. Customer loyalty is not of high value to HONDA.

2012 Honda CRV makes loud grinding noise upon start. Informed dealer about the situation several times since the noise started years ago. After a year of purchasing the vehicle brand new off the lot the noise started. I complain about the noise numerous of times during oil changes. They never knew what the problem was nor did they hear a noise (lies). But now since I’m almost done (1 payment left) with paying off my car, and my warranty is over (bingo) we know what the problem is and it’s gonna cost ya! American Honda is garbage. They don’t wanna acknowledge the problem, and they’ve been knowing for years well before I purchase mines in 2012.

All the trunks leak. All the cup holders break or stay stuck open. Constant
All the trunks leak. All the cup holders break or stay stuck open. Constant replacing spark plugs and wires. You have to rev them like mad (but the most of you know the VTEC deal). The worst is the radiator issue. Also, expensive brake jobs. Around 80K miles they have to be replaced. The cat heat shields on all. Yes, there are worse cars out there. But, Honda is way overrated. My first Honda, 89si, they told me the payments would be 254 a month. Being gifted mathematically, I told him he was off 25 bucks. Show me your work. He wouldnt. I then ran the numbers by him and lo and behold, he never counted in my down payment. Then the clutch went bad at 800 miles and they said it was a moving part. I told them I would burn the car in front of their place. My brother, an attorney, fixed the problem. He also found out the finance guy and a girl got arrested. This was Martins Honda in Manhattan. But I never had another issue with that car, outside of the spark plug, radiator, cat shield and cup thing. Wrecked it and bought a 95ex. Cat shield, leaky trunk, same issues as above but the clutch was fine. Replaced the radiator. Bought a 2002 ex, Same issues as above minus the clutch. I guess Id rather know the enemy than roll the dice. Still have the car but its parked in the garage for posterity.Best Honda we ever had was the 98 Odyssey. What a car. Best ratings in Minivan history. My oldest just sold it with a zillion miles on it. We brought into Brewster Honda for a brake job and I had put brand new windshield wipers on it the day before. Went to pick it up and the wipers were swapped out with worn out mismatched metal on glass wipers. I was livid. They told me it wasnt their responsibility if the car was parked outside and someone stole or damaged it. I said, if someone stole them, under the bright all night light, who on earth would take the time to replace them? Common sense. I told them I have another set of keys and Im driving off. See you in court and you know Ill win. They gave me new wipers. My other two Honda I inherited. One blew up after the dealer allegedly put in a new timing belt, the other is an Accord that is old but has the best AC Ive ever been around. Odd as the AC in my Civics were awful. It wont show me as a verified owner but its kind of obvious I am. PS: Go in with your own financing because Honda is the worst at You can get 3% interest if you do this undercoating or whatever and blah blah. Said no the first time and now my answer is, I want out of this room. Where do I sign. It seems like a prevailing theme with auto dealers.Havent bought a Honda since the 02. Someday, if I move south, Id consider an Accord. Seems like so much technology now, that the length of warranty of whatever brand is a starting point. All these techno cars and going to be crazy money to fix. I give the cars 4 stars and the dealers 0 stars. Considering how many truly lousy cars are on the road and that almost all dealers are lame. That should come out to 2 but you dont deal with them much. So Ill say 3 stars. Of course, everyone reads 1 star and 5 star reviews (looking for consistency in the good and or the bad), so this wont be read by too many.

My mom drives a 2007 Honda CR-V. Honda issued a recall for the drivers side airbag in early 2016 and, unable to replace the airbag, parked the car behind the dealer and issued her a loaner in February and March of 2016. After 2 months sitting at Honda, they brought her car home so it would be inside a garage while waiting for the airbag replacement. During this time, she had the house on the market so she could move closer to my sister and I as my father passed away. We were concerned that the car would not be available for the 700 mile move all along and expressed this to the dealer who told her she could drive the car all over the country, contrary to what we were hearing in the media and from the Honda itself about the Takata airbag dangers. The house sold and we immediately informed Honda (the dealer and customer support) that we would need a car to move to Illinois. I told Tanya at Honda Customer Support we would have to rent a similar vehicle to pack and make the move if Honda could not replace the airbag in the CR-V. After speaking with Tanya many times, I was told that that we would be fully reimbursed by Honda for the expenses related to the airbag replacement and that there was no daily reimbursement limit. We rented the closest size SUV available (Pathfinder) and packed it for the move. Three days before the move Honda called and said they would be able to replace the airbag a day before the move.I had to unpack the rental car, drive an hour to return it and take a cab back to Honda to pick up the car. We submitted the expense report for $1,292.54 for the rental, gas and cab to Honda. After multiple calls, a reimbursement check for $162.11 arrived, wrong address and wrong payee. It has not been cashed. Honda will not put Tanya on the phone and says now the limit is $32.00 a day. I have made it clear to them that I had asked her multiple times about a reimbursement limit before renting the replacement vehicle and that Tanya said no limit. Honda has blatantly lied and my 79 year old mom is out $1,292.54. I have spent months dealing with this issue. Since I asked Honda more than once about reimbursement rates before renting a replacement vehicle, my mom deserves every penny she spent on this debacle and an apology from American Honda.

My daughter has a 2009 Honda Accord with 85k miles on it. It goes through 3 quarts of oil between oil changes. We submitted a claim even tho the warranty was out by one week but not out on mileage. They told me to take it to a Honda dealer (Ray Price) to do an oil consumption test. Which consist of a oil change (I pay for) then bring it back in around 1000 miles, they check level then report to Honda USA. Heres the problem, I took it back. It lost 3/4 qt by the calibrated eye of the mechanic looking at the dip stick, he didnt drain and measure. Also they didnt use the same weight oil as in the owners manual. The real misconception here is it loses at the same rate. It doesnt between the first 1000 miles and the 2nd 1000 miles it loses faster!!! Sometime between oil changes Ill put in 4 quarts!! So my car note had been behind for month due to the fact that my husband had lost his job, and I have been the bread winner. My carnote of my 2011 Fit had fallen behind, but I always sent them SOMETHING. Fast forward I come off my day shift at work and notice that my car was gone:(. I frantically called Honda like hey did you guys repo the car? And the Rep. said, Well the car is in repo status, but it does not show in our system as being picked up or not. She made a few phone calls and said that she would not know until one of the many companies they work with send in the proper documents stating that the car was picked up. Long story short Honda required me to pay a repo fee to the city (Torrance, Ca which was 12$ to the city Court House) pay the repo fee, and bring my past due balance current. The only thing that sucks is the process of running out of time during the day and having to wait a whole nother day which equals another day of storage fees. My car was picked up on a Thursday. My fees were paid that Friday afternoon, but because I paid a little after 4 pm the lot was closed :( and I had to wait until Monday to get my car. I must say my situation was HORRIBLE, but it wasnt because of Honda. And Out of all the reps I spoke to they were not all that rude to me (They were kinda like demanding and one person told me more information than they were suppose to but hey he was being nice). So all and all once my account was brought up to date Honda faxed over the release paper. I was able to go to the lot and get my car. (I did have to pay a storage fee of 362.50 CASH???) But I cant just say Honda made the process harder than what it was. If I have anything to complain about its the fact that these lots close SO EARLY and are not open on weekends and cont. to charge you :(. But I just got my car released to me today. After being gone from Thursday December 15 till Monday December 19...

Having owned seven Camrys, I chose the HR-V for its size and parking ability. With one glaring exception, the HR-V is everything and more than I expected. It rides well, is comfortable (I added good sheep-skin seat covers) and gets good mileage. Everything is accessible and well thought-out EXCEPT the horns. While driving my car on I-10, both the passenger side curtain airbag and seat airbag deployed with no warning or reason! When I got home, I wanted to contact Honda; but a lawyer friend warned me to do my research first! I found several online complaints about the same issue. In each case, Honda claimed they must have run something over that caused airbags to deploy. In each case, driver was sure they didnt; but Honda refused to fix the car, and insurance also refused. I took proper steps to protect myself; and sure enough, Honda gave me the same response. I can’t believe nothing is being done about this! It is unfair and very dangerous to all drivers on the road! I recently had the misfortune of purchasing a car (2018 Honda Fit) with Honda Sensing enabled. Within a week, I discovered that the sensors are so flaky as to render the car unsafe to drive - while I was unable to trigger them at all during the test drive (as they sometimes fail to detect anything), the opposite problem (seeing something that isnt there) is where the car becomes unsafe. 3 times in 60 miles of highway driving, the car applied maximum brakes without warning. The road in front of me was clear for several miles (and thankfully also clear behind me), but it always triggered as I was just about to finish passing another car. This compounded the risk of brake checking - had someone been behind me, they absolutely would have rear-ended me, as they would have had no place to go to dodge my vehicle, and absolutely no way to anticipate my car applying the brakes at maximum for several seconds. The dealership inspected the sensors and assured me they were performing to spec - this was not an issue with a faulty or malfunctioning sensor, *this is the way Honda Sensing is designed to work*. Further searching has turned up 3 class action lawsuits and hundreds of similar stories, with Honda dismissing all of them with the hilarious its a complicated system, you cant expect it to be perfect. Im sure Ford would have loved to have that slogan when they were dealing with the Pinto. Honda, when it comes to the *brakes on a car*, yes, you do need to be perfect, or you need to leave them alone. Its worth noting that Consumer Reports ranks Honda dead last in its evaluation of these emergency braking systems.Further compounding the situation, there is no way to permanently disable this system. I would strongly recommend that no one buy a car with this feature, think twice before riding in a newer Honda, and be aware of their potentially erratic performance if you see one on the road - frankly these cars are a danger to others as much as to themselves.

I have a new 2016 Civic and it is a great car. It is my fourth Civic, but there are a couple of things that I do not like about it. It does not have a CD player in it. I do not like any of the stations on the radio and I do not like the music of today. I loved listening to my music from the 50s, 60s and some of the 70s, but now I cannot do that because you opted not to put CD players in your new cars. I am not a person that has a Ipod, so that is not an option to listen to. I was very disappointed when I found out about this feature. The trunk door lock on the drivers door is an annoyance. I cannot reach the door handle to close the door when I get in so I have to grab on to the pocket where the button for the trunk button is and 9 out of 10 times I hit it and have to get out of the car to close the trunk. Why didnt you leave it where it was on the 2013 Civics??? Whoever makes these changes should think of the Seniors that purchase these vehicles and leave some things alone. Other than those two features that I just explained, the car is great and I do love it. Thank you for listening.

My wife and I bought this vehicle brand new. After the first 2000 miles, the tires were transmitting the street vibration into the cab. It was so loud that you cant carry a normal conversation. Furthermore the vehicle develops a weird action that stalls the engine when you try to accelerate to pass another vehicle. In both cases, we took the car to the dealership and they did nothing claiming that the diagnostic machine found nothing. Nevertheless we end up replacing the car for a 2013 Toyota Camry SE. Its quiet as a church mouse and has an excellent acceleration. Goodbye forever, Honda!!

Steering locking up for a while then no power steering and blown fuse. Took to Honda dealer. He replaced fuse. Rode it for a while like 5 min., said it was alright. Got home, rode about 1/2 mile, it did the same. This is three weeks ago. Still no ATV to ride. Now I find out that there might be a recall on it. The dealer says he knows nothing, that it may not have a recall on this one. It is 2008 Foreman. What is wrong with this picture? The steering locked up twice. I dont know if I could put trust in Honda again after this. This is the third Honda in 12 years.

I purchased a new 2009 Honda Accord Coupe, 4 cylinder, and after about 35,000 miles, I started experiencing excessive oil consumption. Oil is being lost at the rate of 1 qt. per 1,000 miles. I do not see any oil on my garage floor, so I can only assume it is burning it slowly. This is my second Accord, by the way, and I drive 25,000 miles per year, so I know darn well what the usage rate is. I went online to see if any other people had experienced this, and was surprised to find out that many other owners are having this problem, all across the US, in fact. The car was under warranty, so I called American Honda, and they told me to take it to a dealer, so that a diagnostic could be run, but they admitted that there was a recall for this problem. They said there was a software update, which should solve the problem. I was highly skeptical that software could fix it, but I played along. The next day, I took the car to Herb Chambers Honda in Burlington, MA for a diagnostic. They didnt see anything in the codes, and no visible signs of leakage. They did the software upgrade, and changed the oil, and told me to come back when (if) the oil level hit the low point on the dip stick. At about 2,700 miles, 1/27/12, the oil light came on today. I took the car back today, and they told me it had a little over 2 quarts of oil in it. It lost roughly 2 quarts per 1,000 miles. There was no change after the software upgrade at all. Actually, there was a change. My gas mileage went from high 20s to low 20s on the highway. They actually made the car worse. The dealer told me that 1 quart per 1,000 miles is normal for any car. I almost fell over, when they said that. In all my years of driving, including cars from the 60s and 70s, I have never seen a car come anywhere close to that. They actually thought I would buy that story. It is unbelievable! So, I called American Honda, to speak with the case manager that had been assigned to my case, and was expecting him to be all apologetic, and say that they would resolve the problem. Not a chance! He used the same line the dealer did, with the 1 qt. per 1,000 miles being normal usage. I was outraged! I just couldnt believe it. A multiple car Honda owner, and they didnt care the slightest about me, or their product. They could have made a customer for life by fixing it, but instead, they made an enemy for life. Now, Im stuck with a 2 year old piece of junk, and have no choice but to trade it in. Ill never buy another product from Honda, ever again, and I will be sure tell my story to everyone I come in contact with.

I bought a new 2009 Honda Accord in April 2009. On November 18, 2011, I took my car to Crest Honda in Nashville, TN to look at the leather on the drivers seat for premature wear and verify coverage for repair or replacement under warranty. The car had 35,893 miles on it and I had owned it for ~31months. Crest took a photo of the premature wear and the service rep said he would review my issue with the service provider. In December, Honda customer service called me and stated wear on leather seats are considered normal wear and tear and therefore not covered under warranty. I intend to file a BBB claim against Crest Honda and Honda. By denying my claim, they are admitting the leather will show significant signs of wear before 36,000 miles. Leather should not be considered a wear and tear item but should be covered under defective materials if it shows wear within the warranty period.

I went into Honda of Burlington here in Washington and was coming in to pay off my 2021 Honda Accord and was persuaded to purchase another vehicle of lesser quality. Within 24 hours of the purchase I regretted this decision because the car was not of equal quality to the car I had drove in there. The general manager called me to tell me she would not give me my original car back. Again it had not even been 24 hours and I had been calling all morning trying to reach someone in management but they were all in meetings. I just wanted my car back and they refused! Not only was this emotionally damaging but the general manager said she could tell I was upset because I was crying and she said I can tell youre upset so I will let you go after telling me I couldnt have my car back and me begging to get it back. She was absolutely horrible! She did not need to be rude as I never once raised my voice or anything. I simply begged to have my car back. She said no! Have a good day and hung up. I have always supported Honda and am very devastated that this is how they do business! I would not recommended them to anyone! How could you do that to someone? They simply got the better end of the deal and would not give me my car back and also told me to just take and trade the car of lesser quality if I didnt like it. Im done with Honda!!!

My recent experience with Honda has been beyond disappointing. I have never owned a Honda before, but I had heard good things about their reliability and that Honda was a reputable company that stood behind their product. Sadly, I have found none of this to be true. I will never purchase another Honda, and I have advised my friends and family to avoid making a purchase they will regret. I have also filed a complaint with Consumer Affairs. On July 20, during the hottest stretch of weather we have had in Vermont in a long time, my air conditioner quit. I looked it up on the internet to see if there was a quick fix. I was hoping maybe it was a fuse or something simple and I was surprised to find report after report and complaint after complaint about the air conditioner compressors quitting in the Honda CR-Vs. I went to a local garage, where they verified it was indeed the air conditioner compressor.Since my mileage was beyond the warranty, but the car is only a 2008, I called Honda to see if they could offer any assistance with replacing this very expensive part and was advised that I needed to have a dealer diagnose the issue. After making a 45-minute trip to a dealer for a 5-minute appointment, to verify the problem as Honda asked me to do. I again called to see if I could receive some assistance, anything, I was just hoping theyd pay half of it, just something to help me out and make a goodwill gesture. I spoke to a woman who was extraordinarily unhelpful and unsympathetic. She just kept repeating it was beyond warranty. I fully understand what a warranty is, and I explained to her that if it were under warranty I would have just taken it to a dealer in the first place and had it fixed! If my car were the only one with this problem, I would have accepted it as my bad luck and gone on my merry way. However, my research has shown that this has happened to many Honda owners and the part appears to be defective! The right thing for Honda to do would be to accept some of the responsibility for this defective part and offer owners some sort of assistance in making the repair. It makes me terribly sad that your company has chosen to not do the right thing. While trying to scrape up the money to have my air conditioner fixed, I had to borrow a friends car (a very reliable, older model Subaru with a working air conditioner), in order to take my 90-year-old father to the doctor because he is unable to tolerate the heat due to his age and his health. I was embarrassed to tell him that my 3-year-old car had such an expensive issue already. If it werent for the necessity of having air conditioning to drive my elderly parents around safely, I wouldnt even have had it fixed. In Vermont, we dont use air conditioning very often, which adds to the evidence that there is something wrong with this part as it couldnt possibly be overused in three short years. Especially in a state with such a short summer.I have enclosed a copy of the bill for my repair in the hope that your company will reconsider and take this opportunity to do the right thing and reimburse me for a repair that I should never have had to make. Sincerely,A very disappointed first and last time Honda owner

Exploding rear window on 2003 Honda Odyssey. This occurred on Sept. 24, 2011 at approximately 1 p.m. in Calgary, Alberta. It was a beautiful clear day, the temperature at the time was about 20 -23 degrees Celsius. My van was parked on a residential street facing eastbound.Earlier in the day, I tried to clean my exterior car windows with a wet cloth. While I didnt have any problems wiping down the north-facing side windows and the front window, I wasnt able to wash the south-facing side and rear windows because they were too hot to touch! As I moved the wet cloth over the windows, the water would dry on the glass instantly, leaving streaks. The heat of the windows made it impossible for me to continue washing them without burning my fingers or hands so I abandoned the task for the time being and left the sliding doors open for about 30 minutes to cool down the interior. A knob/latch is missing from the left side rear window so it doesnt close completely and creates an air gap.About two hours later, I drove to a self-serve car wash to wash down the van completely. I had my dog with me, who was tethered in and laying down on the seat directly behind the drivers seat.I started by walking around and spraying the soap solution over the vehicle. After adjusting the control to rinse, I began washing the front of the van when I heard one very loud pop from somewhere behind the van. When I got to the back of the vehicle, I noticed that the explosion (implosion? ) was my rear window! It was completely crumbled, but was still mostly intact. There were two holes in the glass, one in each bottom corner. I saw larger pieces of broken glass (approximately 1- 2) on the ground in the wash bay and more pieces inside the van.As I opened or shut the doors and drove out of the wash bay, the glass continued to fall down from the frame and into the back well area. As I was parked inside the car wash bay, the window didnt break from flying rocks or other road debris and theres no obvious evidence that I was a target for a BB gun, slingshot...or worse.

In the past month my 2015 has had battery issues. Had to get car jumped a total of six/seven times in one month. Took car to Honda service department to have diagnostic. Made them aware that this is a safety issue. Referred me to case manager who told me that I would have to follow Honda service department suggestion and have car towed in. Next week car wouldnt start. Had car towed in to Honda who then did diagnostics and found battery was defective. Put new battery in car. Two days later (today), same thing car wouldnt start, Car towed back to dealership. Very Frustrating. Tried to get loaner and told all out and there was nothing they can do. Meantime losing money because hanging in Honda most of the day. Called corporate office and told them my dilemma and not being satisfied with service. Brushed me off and said that a case manager will return my call in 1 business day. Still no transportation to work. Not even reimbursement for rental. Not happy. Terrible customer support.

I called the local dealership to book an appointment for my car and was told I would either have to sit in their building whilst the work was done, pay out for a courtesy car or be dropped off and picked up from the local retail park.I am thoroughly ** Off with Honda and your customer service team. On the 25/01/16 I was told that you do not offer any sort of compensation or help to be able to leave my car with one of your dealerships for 2 and a half hours due to a recall. This is the third recall and you want me to pay out for your errors. My local dealership is out in the middle of nowhere and 5 miles plus from my home. The retail park is a small one and would not be enough to keep me occupied for two and a half hours, so that option is out. I cannot pay out for a courtesy car as I have advised. My only option now is to waste two and a half hours sat in the local dealership when I have other things to do.This is not good customer service or practice. You ought to have a facility to deal with the situations as they occur, not to have staff read out your policies and scripted replies. I also think that nobody should buy Honda as you obviously dont know how to make good cars as you would not need all of these recalls if you did. As you can see I am not happy with Honda and as things stand will be looking to never use Honda again. If this had been a one off it would be different but with so many recalls I feel you are now taking the michael as it were. I await your response.

Today I called and talked to American Honda. Ill start off with saying the worst customer service ever. They dont even offer to help you. They just apologize 10,000 times and then want to go about their way. My car isnt covered under the warranty for paint. For reasons I dont even understand. I have an 09 Civic. The paint is starting to deteriorate. It looks like someone literally took a scrub brush to my car and is in the beginning stages of my paint chalking. This is a 7-year-old car. Ive seen cars that are 15 years old that have better paint jobs than mine and they have been untouched. The only okay thing about my Honda is that it hasnt broken down on the side of the road yet. American Honda is the biggest joke of a company and so unwilling to help people. The issue needs to be pushed. My car is Crystal Black Pearl. I know its one of the color codes accepted for the repaint but my VIN isnt under the warranty nor did I get a letter. (I am not the original owner of this car.) Im more than displeased. They look cheaper and cheaper every year.

The purpose to express how disappointed I am with the manner in which a recent concern was handled by Honda Customer Service. To give some background, I purchased a 2014 Honda Accord Coupe in June of 2017. Roughly two months after, the car began to have problems where to vehicle would not start the first time I pushed the start button. Over the next few day, the problem became progressively worse. I took to vehicle into the Heritage Honda in Towson, Maryland and reported the matter to the service manager, John ** who informed me that there was nothing he could do until the problem could be recreated. Please keep in mind that the vehicle had not reached 36K miles when I brought in for it to be checked. Fast forward to October 7, 2017 when I took the vehicle in for a recall repair and explained to the technician the same problems I shared with John. Again, I was told there was nothing they could do. I left the vehicle to have the recall repair completed and received a call from the service advisor who notified me that I needed to replace the starter. I was very shocked to hear this, as I stated before the car had JUST hit 36K miles before I brought it in for repair. She gave the cost of the repair, and I approved it.After doing some research when these symptoms with the intermittent starting began, I see that this has been an ongoing problem with Hondas since. There was even a service bulletin for this very issue for 2014 Honda Accord (V6). So my question is, if there was a problem with the starter for the same year and model of my car (minus the V6 engine) why wouldn’t your company recall vehicles that were not V6? That seems like the fair thing to do.Needless to say that I am not a very happy Honda owner at this time. I have been a very loyal Honda supporter, and would like to continue to do so. I feel Honda should do was is morally right and reimburse me for the monies I paid to replace the starter. I have been working with Allen in customer service with the hopes of amicably resolving this matter, but unfortunately he was only able to offer me a $500 Honda gift card to be used for future purchases/services at any Honda Services. This does not seem like a customer oriented resolution. This makes it a win-win for Honda. I’m still out of my $800 that I paid to replace the starter, and you get the $500 back into Honda for any services that I may need in the future. Just doesn’t seem fair.

I made an appointment to have an airbag recall inspection done at Brown Honda Service in Toledo, Ohio. I arrived and was then informed that it would take 1 1/2 hours to look at the airbag. It was just an inspection, not a replacement. That is entirely too long for this to take. They should have informed me of the time when I called to make the appointment. I left very unhappy about the lack of customer service. The tech did call to suggest he come and pick up the car, but I was not going to give up my entire Saturday for this.

Honda wouldnt repair due to high cost of pearl paint ruined. We ended up losing 12,000 on the deal! The other car went in for trans service, came out with Honda adding something, due to recall that affects the drivability of the car. I owned the car, my girlfriend took it in and never notified me. I hate the car now. I will never buy another one, due to poor customer service and support. I just purchased a FORD F-150 and plan on selling every Honda in our family (asians). LMAO. About to park the car outside the dealership with a sign on it in protest. This has gone too far. I shouldnt be required to jump my car every time I want to drive it. Yesterday I woke up. Started it at 12 noon. I started it and then at 1 pm I need to go to the airport and damn car wont start at all. Somethings draining the power and Honda does nothing. I have 2009 Honda CRV, over the internet lot of customers like me complained about their A/C stops working when it reaches close to 100K miles. Its because of their faulty Air Compressor system. When they assembled the car, why didnt they test this system. And when they know its a problem that almost all customers are facing, why are they extending warranty to just 6 or 7 years, what about people who dont put much of mileage on their car every day and who use it as secondary vehicle. And their car takes one or two years more to reach their faulty systems to stop working. And moreover someone who lives in North Central United States who see cold weather almost throughout the year, and just few days of Sunny days in a year how do we determine A/C is working. Before assembling the car first thing they need to ensure they have all right quality parts without which assembling the car and selling it to customers is like deceiving customers and making false business to make money. Now, when I look at my car VIN number it says there is a recall on Driver/Passenger airbags. Not sure how they manufactured such parts and how they tested them and why were they in such a hurry to assemble such faulty products and sell it as a SUV to customers.

In December 2014 I purchased a new 2015 Honda Accord. On July 9, 2015 my AIR CONDITIONER stopped working. I live in Florida where the summer is extremely hot making even the shortest of trips very uncomfortable. I took my car to the dealership the next morning for service, knowing that I have a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty in addition to an extended warranty. I was sure that the repair would be covered under warranty. I was informed that a rock/pebble had pierced my condenser which put a pinhole in it, and it is NOT covered under warranty. Honda indicated that the cost to fix the condenser is $716.85. I went to the dealership twice to speak with the General Manager to see if this can be resolved given that my car is only 8 months old with only 9000 miles and I was told to go through my insurance company. I also reached out to Honda of America and was told that the damage was caused by road debris and is not covered under warranty. This is an obvious design flaw. The Honda air-conditioning condenser is unduly prone to damage caused by normal road debris that does not affect other auto manufacturers condenser design. As with other auto makers, the front bumper clip is wide open to any kind of road debris and the condenser sits right behind the front air intake with NO protection at all. However, this typical design poses a problem for the Honda condensers and will happen over & over again, and Honda refuses to do anything about it calling it normal and working as designed! This should be a recall.

I am Raj ** and I am working in a private company. I purchased a new Honda bike to sell our house which is in Delhi. I purchased a Honda Shine from Race Honda Patpargani, New Delhi. Date of sale was August 14,2011. But it is not running straight on the road, there is a problem bubbling in my bike. I checked the bike the next day, August 15, 2011.In the showroom, they loose the screw of the handle and told me that my bike was okay. But the problem is the same. When I went back there the next day, August 17, 2011, I asked why is it having the same problem. The showroom manager told me that I should go to their workshop. So I went to the workshop on August 24, 2011 and met the workshop manager, Mr Ashwani **. He told me that the rear rim found the band because of the speed breaker and digs, he said they cannot do anything for me and I have to pay around Rs 3,700 for it. I was shocked when I heard it. Then I decided to complain to the Honda Bike Company. The telephone numbers are 2290911, 2290912, 2290913. I do not feel good about them, compared to other companys customer care. But after all that, one Honda engineer Mr. Umesh came, I was hoping he could help me. But he was so busy with his cellphone and he didnt listen to a single word I said, he just told me that my bike is not under warranty so I need to pay for the repair. The parking charge was Rs50 extra, so I was so unhappy that I asked him why do I have to pay for parking and a rim. Then he told me that I have purchased a Honda bike, and that he will not give me a favor. After all that, I think I took the wrong decision to purchase a Honda Shine. My bike is still in the workshop. What can I do now. Can I fire myself?

Okay, I was a very, very firm believer in owning a Honda. My entire family literally is driving one or has owned one. Even a lot of my extended family and I always vouched for them when people asked about my car. After I found out about the recall in June of 2016, through my sister mind you, I immediately wondered why I was barely finding out about my airbag recall now when someone people had known months before. Later that day I went onto the website to punch in my VIN number and check to see if my vehicle was a part of the unlucky bunch. Unfortunately, it was and my passenger bag was the airbag up for recall. And it just so happens that my boyfriends Honda, which is the same make and model as mine but a year newer, had the same passenger airbag recall as mine.So I called to speak with someone. They gave me the same bit as everyone. You can still drive it. Just dont have a passenger. But I did try to explain my boyfriend had the same problem and if we could just get one alternate transportation vehicle because we are not about to take two separate cars to the grocery store, out of town, or anywhere else that requires us to carpool. They just gave me some ** excuse that there was nothing they could do. For now I should avoid having anyone sit in the passenger side. They suggested I would be fine because my airbag shuts off when no one is in the passenger side and I tried to explain to them MANY, MANY times that my light doesnt turn on to indicate that my airbag is off and of course, same thing goes for my boyfriends car. Of course, that made their ears perk up and I finally got their attention. Or so I thought.Long story short, I called another 15 times, give or take. Every time I got the runaround and no one could help me. Its now the middle of August and someone has FINALLY returned my call regarding this and wouldnt you know it, Ive been denied alternate transportation and they will just order me the part to have my car repaired. Who knows when that will even be. Of course, I may have to pay out of pocket for the defective off switch on the airbag so that was some GREAT news to hear.Regardless, fixing my passenger airbag off switch doesnt fix my problem at all. Both me and my boyfriend have the same car with the same problem. We live together and have NO other means of transportation when we run errands or go out of town. The fact that Honda is just going to take a chance with mine or my boyfriends life is just remarkable. Thank you Honda for showing me your true colors. I will NEVER, EVER purchase another Honda again and I dont plan to refer people to your business. I do plan to tell people of my experience with your company and how youve handled this recall. My recommendation, dont buy a Honda. Avoid, at all costs, purchasing a Honda. Worst customer service of the year. Honda, you are all cowards and I hope you get whats coming to you.

Recently, I bought (April 2011) a 1997 Honda Passport with a blown head for next to nothing. I purchased the vehicle for my two kids to get back and forth from college. I then dumped a couple grand into fixing it. Then in June, I noticed big chunks of rusted steel on my driveway under where the Passport was parked. I crawled underneath it, only to find that the chassis was so rusted out in places that I could place my whole fist into the holes (especially right under the passenger seat/door). I was also able to grab handfuls of rusted and corroded steel from inside the cavity along the chassis.I immediately called the Honda Recall Hotline, and they indicated to me that there was no recall for the 1997 Chassis, but there was a recall starting in 1998 on the frame. “Not to worry”, they said. I was to take it to the dealer to have them access the situation and determine next steps. So, I parked the vehicle in the driveway, and prohibited any one from driving it. I have been so busy with work, but I finally got around to calling the dealer in my area (Roush). They instructed me to set an appointment for them to do a diagnostic check. Oh, and that they will have to charge me for the diagnostic analysis. I told them that it was a bunch of bunk having it; I did not want to pay them any fees. All one has to do is get on their knees; look under the car, and come to the diagnosis that I came to that there is obviously a defect for the steel to be so rusted, that you could put your fist into several areas. Obviously, you do not need to be a rocket surgeon to figure it out, nor do you need to place it on a rack to make an official diagnosis, let alone charge me for it. I told them that I would send them 1000 FREE diagnostic pictures that they could use for their analysis.Since that did not get me anywhere, I asked for Hondas number because I wanted to chat with a regional/district manager in order to obtain approval for the dealer to waive the diagnostic fee. I got the runaround from Heather in recalls. She said that I needed to go back to the dealer; since my vehicle had no recall, she could not obtain approval for a free diagnostic check. She also would not provide me with the district managers name for Honda. She said to me that I needed to get that information from the dealer.I then proceeded to voice my concern on this, and told her that the vehicle isnt safe to be driving even to the dealer. She offered absolutely no concern, nor any valuable customer service. Based on this Honda experience and previous experience with a GMC vehicle, I can tell you GMCs customer service department blows Hondas away. So, now I have to call Roush back in order to obtain the Honda district managers name and number. It makes absolutely no sense and is totally a runaround. I bought the Passport because it was a Honda, only to find out that it is an ISUZU.Honda evidently paid ISUZU to manufacture the Passports which was Hondas entrance into the SUV market. Now I have what I thought was a Honda, which is actually an ISUZU. No wonder why the frame is crap. If you happen to own a Honda Passport manufactured in the years 1995 (first year), 1996 and 1997, check your chassis. If anyone else has this problem, please let me know if you have been able to rectify it with Honda.

I have a Honda Civic 2009. The paint started to crack and peel from two years ago. The peeling and cracking is now everywhere on the car. It was a shame everywhere I went in these two years. Since I bought the car used, I thought the car was repainted because of an accident. However, I recently searched online and found out that this is a widespread problem for various Honda models!!! I called Honda customer service and was told that because my car is just out of warranty (for twenty days) the repaint job should be done on my own expense, no matter the problem was persistent for last two years. Putting aside how much shame and discomfort this car has brought for me in these years, I was shocked how rude and irresponsible they are in dealing with their loyal customers. My suggestion to you all my friends is: NEVER go for Honda for your new car! Compared to the value and respect other automotive manufacturers like Toyota, etc would provide, it is crazy to invest your money on a car that brings discomfort for you when the company also refuses to take responsibility for their defective products.

My son purchased a new 2013 Honda CRX from Colby Honda, Northridge, CA. When he took his car in for the last service they impounded his car for what they said, a period of about two months. Further, they told him he would not receive his car back until the airbag is replaced or he signed a waiver releasing Honda from any liability for damage or injury caused by the faulty airbag. The dealership did provide my son with a poor quality 2002 loaner car that had 100,040 miles on the odometer. Last week he took a trip and the cars engine warning light came on.In the meantime my son is making the monthly payments for his impounded Honda CRX. He tried to contact Honda Corporation and was referred back to the dealership. The customer service person at the dealership was rude and not helpful. I believe Honda should provide its customer with a loan car that is at least equal to the car he is making payments on or waive his scheduled payments until they return his car. The airbag problem is the responsibility of Honda, not the customer. I would assume numerous other customers are dealing with this same issue. In the meantime, Honda continues to sell and deliver new cars that must have compliant airbags. What can be done to correct the problem?

It was a commercial heavy duty washer, which we thought would last longer, it is about 3 yrs. old. It is used maybe twice a month, and just for personal use at home.Needless to say it is just sitting out our way so when it blows hopefully no one will get hurt. If they do, I told Dewalt they will be responsible as they have been told and chose to do nothing about it.

Now Im officially freaked out. I bought a 2021 new HR-V from Huntington Honda (NY) and I’m discovering this new car with all this rust. I showed it to two local mechanics who are shocked and confused as to why there is rust underneath the steering column. I also noted the rust underneath my 31-day old 2021 Honda HR-V. Is this normal? And is there missing insulation in the photo next to the steering column? Is that maybe why these models make a horrible annoying noise when driving 35 plus miles an hour? I’m talking about a piercing whistling noise whenever I crack open a window or moon roof, which according to Huntington Honda, the noise appeared in 2 other 2021 HR-Vs they test drove, and I’m supposed to live with this as if it’s normal. There’s video of this whistling issue in YouTube regarding a 2018 HR-V. In the comments for that video, you’ll see many other Honda HR-V owners complain about the same issue. Did I buy a lemon? Does Honda make bad cars or does Huntington just sell a batch of badly built Hondas. Im wondering if the 0% APR was just a ploy so they could get rid of defectively built cars. I bought this new HRV because I wanted a safe vehicle for my family. The purchase was supposed to be such a joyous thing. What a mistake! My entire family is flipping out! What the hell else is wrong w this car?Anyone experiencing this with the new Hondas or cars from Huntington Honda? Would I have had a better luck at a different Honda dealer? Should I have bought a Toyota, Nissan, or Hyundai? Im super stressed about how much I spent on this car, and no one from the dealer is calling me back, responding timely or willing to help me resolve this. BTW, heres the YouTube video of the horrible noise that these Hondas are making. **

I am the original owner of a 2013 Honda Accord EX-L. This car has never had service anywhere other than Honda dealership. Even oil changes. A few weeks ago I took it to have oil change and the recall on the battery sensor. When I got into car prior to service it would not start. The dealership told me that because the battery was involved it would do that. The problem progressively got worse until actually would not start. I took back to dealership and they told me it would cost $700.00 to replace the starter. The car has around 50 K miles on it. After I googled the issue with the recall and bad starter it seems that many other Honda owners are having this problem. I called Honda and the rep said that she has heard of this happening and was surprised but her supervisor stated that it was unrelated to the recall and will do nothing about it. I will never buy another Honda again!!! Very disappointed.

I am writing this to express my disappointment in a recent encounter with Honda Canada. My family has been dedicated to the Honda brand for over 30 years. My grandparents have purchased Honda their entire lives and their love for the brand was passed on to my parents, and now, my sister and me. When I was 23 years old, my father gifted me his 2001 Honda Accord, which has almost 400,000 km on it and is still going strong. Unfortunately, I was forced to sell my beloved accord when I moved across the country (with 400,000 km on it, I felt uneasy about driving the vehicle cross-country). When I returned to Nova Scotia, I once again demonstrated my loyalty to Honda and purchased a 2006 Civic. In late 2016, I received a recall notice for the passenger side airbag. I was familiar with this recall because I had received the same notice for my accord, which I immediately had fixed at a Honda dealership in Alberta.About two weeks ago, I was driving to work at 5:00am when my car overheated and began smoking. I was forced to pull over on the side of the highway and wait for CAA. That is not the issue, as I understand that it is normal for older vehicles to run into problems. I had the vehicle towed to a local repair shop, where they confirmed that there was a crack in my engine block. Unbeknownst to me, the issue was a nationwide recall. Although I had received the recall notice for the airbag, I was never made aware of the engine block recall. I found out about the recall at 5:30am, on the side of the highway, from my tow truck driver. Due to the recall ending on December 31, 2016, Honda was not willing to replace the engine block free of charge. My family and I reached out to Honda Canada to express the fact that we were never made aware of the recall. Had I known there was a recall, I would have gotten my vehicle fixed immediately. As a now 26-year-old woman, I work very hard to pay for school, insurance, rent and much more. The fact that my car is no longer functioning is truly devastating. After expressing our concerns to Honda, we were told that a representative would get back to us within a week and let us know if there was anything Honda would do for us since we had not been made aware of the recall. Almost two weeks later, Honda Canada got back to us stating that they would pay for the engine block, however I would need to pay $1,500 for labour. Not only is this unaffordable for a full-time student, but it is disappointing that an error made on Hondas behalf would cause me to pay $1,500.I am now without a car and refuse to pay $1,500 in labour to a company that does not stand behind their product. It is truly sad that Honda is losing a family of committed buyers (for over 30 years), due to this incident. I am now looking for a new vehicle, but want to make it very clear that my family and I will not be purchasing another Honda in the future. I hope that $1,500 is worth the loss of a truly committed family of (former) Honda lovers.

I requested for product issue with my Honda Odyssey 2008. I was declined just because the product issue later to service 13-081 bulletin period. This is unfair and no goodwill view to address customer concerns who went thru pain.
