2025 Volkswagen IDBuzz Microbus

What is the 2025 Volkswagen IDBuzz

The 2025 IDBuzz is Volkswagen’s full-electric reimagining of their classic “microbus”/van heritage — a modern-day electric minivan/MPV built on VW’s electric platform.

It’s offered in configurations with 6 or 7 seats (depending on seat layout) and aims to combine EV powertrain benefits with flexible space and a “fun, nostalgic but modern” vibe.

Powertrain, Range & Charging

The standard rear-wheel-drive (RWD) version uses an electric motor with a lithium-ion battery pack (about 86 kWh usable) and produces about 282 horsepower and substantial torque.

There’s also an all-wheel-drive (AWD, 4MOTION) version with dual motors — combined output around 335 hp — for more power and traction.

Range estimates (EPA for U.S., or equivalent for other regions) give roughly 231–234 miles (≈ 370–375 km) per full charge under ideal conditions for the RWD version; AWD version’s rating is close but slightly lower.

Charging: With a DC fast charger, the battery can go from around 10% up to about 80% in roughly 26–30 minutes (under ideal conditions) — making it reasonably convenient for longer trips.

Space, Interior & Practicality

Seating: Up to 6 or 7 passengers depending on configuration (with bench or captain-chair 2nd row).

Cargo / Versatility: Because of its van-inspired shape, the IDBuzz tends to offer more flexible cargo/passenger space compared with many compact EVs. Folding / reconfiguring seats lets you adapt for passengers or cargo needs, making it relatively practical for family use, groceries, gear, travel, etc.

Comfort & Features: Interiors are focused on usability and comfort — digital displays, modern infotainment, EV-specific conveniences; the cabin offers the kind of flexibility and roominess typical of minivans/MPVs rather than small cars.

Driving Experience & Use Cases

As an EV: the IDBuzz gives the usual EV benefits — smooth, quiet driving, instant torque, and the convenience of electric power, which makes it well suited for city commuting, suburban driving, and everyday use.

For families / groups: With multiple seats, flexible layout, and decent range, it can serve as a practical, eco-friendly alternative to traditional minivans or family SUVs — especially for those who want to avoid gasoline use.

For mixed use: Because of its cargo versatility (with seats adjustable/foldable), it can handle a variety of roles — daily commuting, groceries, road trips, gear hauling, or transporting people.

Strengths — What the IDBuzz Does Well

EV accessibility + practicality: Combines electric-drive benefits (zero tailpipe emissions, smoothness) with the space and flexibility of a van / minivan.

Flexible seating/cargo layout: 6–7 seats and configurable cabin make it adaptable to passenger- or cargo-heavy tasks.

Decent electric range for its size: ~230–235 miles on a full charge is competitive among EV minivan / crossover-size vehicles.

Fast-charging capability: Supports relatively quick DC fast charging — helpful for longer trips or periodic long-distance driving.

Comfortable and modern interior suited for families or daily use — striking a balance between utility and livability.

Trade-offs & What to Keep in Mind

Range vs. size: As a larger, heavier EV (van-style body + passenger capacity), its efficiency is lower than compact EVs — range is good, but the size and weight mean real-world efficiency may drop under heavy load or during long trips with many passengers.

EV limitations: As with all EVs — need access to charging infrastructure for long trips, and range depends heavily on driving conditions, load, weather, and speed.

Cost: As a well-equipped electric minivan with flexible seating and EV hardware, it’s likely to be more expensive than a basic compact EV — you pay for convenience and space.

Handling trade-offs: Vans tend to ride and handle differently than compact cars — you get space and comfort rather than sporty handling; maneuverability in tight urban settings might feel bulkier.

Compared with traditional vans: While the IDBuzz brings EV benefits, cargo / towing / heavy-duty hauling capacity may be more limited than older gas-powered vans or full-size trucks (as is common with modern electric vans).

Who the 2025 IDBuzz Is Best For

The IDBuzz is a good fit for people who:

Want a zero-emission vehicle but still need space and flexibility — families, car-poolers, people with active lifestyles or gear.

Prefer an EV minivan / MPV over a compact EV — when cargo space, interior room, and versatility matter more than maximum range or sportiness.

Need a single vehicle for mixed use: daily commuting + passenger transport + occasional cargo trips or travel.

Value modern comfort and convenience but also want to reduce dependence on gasoline — combining practicality, EV benefits, and versatility.

Live in environments where charging infrastructure is available or they can charge at home — making EV ownership practical and stress-free.

Bottom line: The 2025 Volkswagen IDBuzz is one of the more interesting electric “microbus/minivan” offerings available today — blending the nostalgia and practicality of a van with modern EV technology. It’s not just a novelty: it offers real utility, flexibility, and everyday usability. If you need van-level space but want electric efficiency and comfort, it’s a compelling choice — as long as you accept the typical trade-offs that come with larger EVs.

The Customer service at this location is the worst Ive ever experience at any dealership. Ive own the car I purchased from them for 7 years now and every time I take it in for servicing I have to wait hours before they complete the simplest thing, i.e. oil change, state inspection. I will never purchase another vehicle from this place or any Volkswagen dealerships based on the service Ive have received.

One perk that sold me on my purchase of my Certified Volkswagen Tiguan was the car replacement or loaner auto promise (if car was disabled and had to be in the shop for over a day). However, I have had numerous occasions in which I had to leave my car at the VW service shop for repairs and was told there were no cars available or that there was nothing they could do. Either Volkswagen vehicles are spending more time in the shop than they are on the road or someone (i.e. Volkswagen) does not honor the promises made at the time of sale. Regardless of the answer, I would not recommend the purchase of a Volkswagen to anyone. This is my first and last Volkswagen vehicle purchase based on the poor service and misleading warranty information.

My residual value at the end of lease was $21,218.60. I extended my lease six more months... and made 6 more automatic payments of $476. This reduced my residual value to $18,374.28 + tax. After I requested a payoff amount and mail the payment check... VW posted a lease rebate charge of $467.12 to my account. Now they have issued a letter reading that there is a short amount that needs to be paid to satisfy the contract.

Within two years of having the car the air conditioner broke, top was out of alignment causing a rattling going down the road, the airbag light has come on, the seat has been burned from the seat heater, check engine light is constantly an occurring event. Now I have a rattling noise on and off again from the front end not to mention I have been through about 6 headlamp bulbs in two years and they tell me theres not a problem. I bought mine Volkswagen certified and in 6 months it started going downhill of course after the warranty was up.

Bought a 2013 2.5 SE as a left over in 2014. Since then I have had the window master switch replaced, the front passenger window switch, the Bluetooth module, shifter and ignition replaced all due to failures and malfunctions. The one item was the AC where during summer temps the vent temperature fluctuated from 40 to 70 degrees, the AC would shut off humid air blow out for 10 minutes and then it would kick back on. I have brought my vehicle in many times for this issue at every 10k factory service and many times in between. The incompetent techs look for malfunction codes, check the charge level and run the car in the SHOP and say, Oh its cold...At the 40k mark outside of the B2B warranty they found the issue and told me a simple exact and recharge would fix it. Now if the charge level was fine at every AC service why would it be found now? That wasnt the case, the issue still remains. I got VWOA involved. They said nothing can be done other than having them look at it again (likely same results) where I may be liable for loaner expenses. I am never buying a VW for myself or recommending a VW to anyone again.

All CC models are affected by this tire/alignment issue. Dealers and VW are not forthcoming about the actual problem. There is nothing wrong with the continental tires the vehicle comes with, they are wonderful tires and do not have any record of defects or recalls. The issue is the CC chassis. It is a front heavy car built on a completely different and unique chassis than the regular Passat. They obviously had issues getting the car to track correctly through corners using a standard stance and camber. So they widened the suspension stance and added negative camber in the front to achieve better grip with the heavy front end. (Even with the factory set up you can feel the front end wanting to float off in the opposite direction of the corner at higher speeds.) They did not make the camber adjustable in the front, only the rear is adjustable. This means that you can put any brand tires on, rotate and align as often as you want and you will still ruin your tires every 10,000 miles. So add another $1,000.00 per year for cost of ownership of this car. I am absolutely appalled that VW has made this their dirty little secret and just assume that their customers wont figure this out. Shame on you, VW.

Bought a 2017 Passat SE with tech and after 9 months began to have safety sensor problems, blind spot, forward collision and parking. Took to the dealer several times to be told it was non existent or normal. Got VWoA INVOLVED AND THEY WERE HARDLY ANY HELP. Finally after I was given a loaner with the airbag hanging from the steering wheel I was offered a trade in assistance. Traded into a 2018 Tiguan SE and have had nothing but issues since day 1, car net never worked, blind spot was faulty, transmission issues, engine power failure. Now my new car had been taken apart and been out of service 32 days in total and only has 8k miles on it, not to mention damaged from the dealer. VWoA denied my claim for buyback and now I am having to deal with lawyers to get it resolved. They really need to get their crap together and vet their dealerships employees and their representatives. Being told error codes are normal, cylinder 3 misfires are caused by bad gas, transmission hesitation/engine power loss isnt a major concern and blind spot detection, which is a safety feature, malfunctioning is no concern that it should not be relied on is unacceptable, not to mention when they hooked a scan tool to my car it shows my car has 2k more miles on it than my odometer states. Will never purchase another VW. BUYER BEWARE.

I feel we were treated unfairly by the VW Claims process. Our dealer was Moffitt Volkswagen in Bossier City, Louisiana, they were super. I dont think the 72000 (we bought the owners car with around 5400 miles on it) on our 2014 Passat TDI vehicle was in excess, after all we purchased it to drive not sit in the driveway. The 66000 plus miles we put on should have been a testament to the reliability of the vehicle. Diesel engines are made to roll not sit. I think we should have been awarded the amount $1115.56 instead of $651.00. We will NEVER EVER purchase another Volkswagen because of the shoddy way we were treated. VW Claims Service should have contacted us when submitted our claim. Instead it stayed on someones desk collecting dust when a simple email would have taken care of the missing paperwork. The communications with the Claims Service is deplorable. Customer Services obviously does not exist in your company.

I bought a used VW Toureg 3 1/2 years ago after I was told that they were the most reliable & safe SUV I could get for my family. I purchased the vehicle with 40,000 miles and knew I may have some repair bills down the line, but was reassured by the salesman that it would last until 250,000 easy with regular maintenance. Since that time, I have spent over $7000 in repairs which has included both headlights (at over $200 apiece), brakes, tires, valves, crank case ventilation, windshield wipers, expensive oil changes, etc. I cannot even remember all of the repairs I have had to do, but if I had only applied that $7000 to the purchase of the vehicle I could have gotten a new Ford with a warranty. First of all, the only place that can do the repairs is a VW dealership which adds about $75 to every service. Also, I have not taken it once where it hasnt been at least a $500 bill. We have had a Ford F-150 Truck for 15 years and have not had $500 in service in total! After taking my complaint to the service department at Northtowne VW, his response was, Yes, maam. I am now stuck with a vehicle I cant afford to trade in (I still owe) and cant afford not to fix. I hope you dont make the same mistake!

I took my VW Polo Vivo sedan 2016 model in for a 90000ks service the 1st week in July. I told the technician that there is a cluck cluck noise coming from the drivers side. Can he please check it. When I got the car back he said the battery needed to be replaced and but I could still drive the car. A week later the car wouldnt start, so took it back to the dealer that did the service and had them replace the battery. I still told him there is this cluck cluck noise. They replaced the battery and he said that he heard the noise but I can still drive the car. They picked up that an irregularity on an injector but I can still drive the car. Only when the EPC light comes on then I must bring the car in. The same day I replaced the battery while on my way home the car wouldnt go faster than 40ks and this cluck cluck noise got louder and louder, eventually the car wouldnt go anymore and I had to get towed home. The next day I called a VW near my house and they said that they cant help me. They fully booked. They can only help me the Friday the 12Th. So I had the car towed in, the security guard at the gate closed the gate in the tow truck and let us drive around aimlessly trying to find the service department. Booked my car in and they took me home. I called in at 3pm that day to ask if they had found something and the guy said to me there is a waiting period of 24 to 48 hours for the technician to look at my car. So I called on every time to this dealer to find out what was wrong with my car. By Tuesday the 16th they still didnt know what was wrong with my car. Wednesday the 17th they said to me the spark plug melted, they couldnt explain how that happened. So they needed me to pay a R6500 stripping fee so they could strip the engine. Thursday they came back and said that the gasket between cylinder 1 and 2 is burnt, they would get back to me with a quote. Thursday even they came back to me with a quote of R45000 that the engine needs to be overhauled. Im still asking how can a car go in for service and a week later the car isnt working and now the engine needs to be overhauled. I logged a complaint with VW SA and they also of no help. Both dealerships are not willing to help me. So now its almost 3 weeks and I dont have a car, and no one is willing to help me. This whole experience has left a sour taste in my mouth and I will never buy another VW in my life. I will also tell people not to buy VWs and what service they in for.

The axel on our 2018 7 passenger Volkswagen Atlas broke 19 days after driving it off of the lot. Took the car back to the dealer and they deemed the Atlas unsafe to drive. This is extremely alarming considering had we been on the road with our 3 small children, this situation could have been very bad. The service department at Stone Mountain Volkswagen was very understanding and set an expectation of 2-3 weeks to repair. They put us in a loaner vehicle a Volkswagen CC. Which was all they had at the time. We could barely fit into the car and the car had no trunk space. The whole reason for wanting the Atlas was for the space and we thought it was a safe vehicle for our family. We dealt with the length of time it would take to fix because we actually thought our car was getting repaired. At exactly 3 weeks after taking the vehicle back my husband and I called to find out what was going on as we heard nothing in regards to the Atlas being repaired. We were told at that time that the dealership was still looking to get the part. At that time they said that it would be another 3-4 weeks. Which at this point we were pretty frustrated and disappointed. We are paying for a vehicle that we cannot even drive, and the dealer has had it longer than we have. We also found out, at the 30 day mark, from the dealership that the company that makes the part had no ETA on when the part would be ready. At this point we were upset. Felt like Volkswagen did not care about a client who is paying for a SUV while driving a car that can barely fit your family. Also upset because during this time nobody proactively reached out to inform us of the situation. We also called Volkswagen Customer Care several times in regards to this and got the same answer, Im sorry but no resolution until one rep named Ryan (thanks Ryan) decided to escalate it to a Region Manager. The manager made calls to my husband while he was at work, when he was able to call back the manager did not answer. He left voicemails for her to call back. She never did. She then called to notify us that the case would be transferred to Retention Resolution Team. We havent heard from them yet. We also called Volkswagen Group of America Corporate Department and we were transferred to the TDI Escalation Department, in which we had to leave another message. After the 30 days passed we overnighted the Vehicle Repurchase or Replacement Request to an address that we received from another Volkswagen Customer Care representative to have the car replaced, which is within our right under Georgia Lemon Laws. Yesterday the Dealership called and said the part would be ready next week. They called back today and said the vehicle was fixed and that we should come get it. This is very suspicious as we do not want a rush job because we do not want to be right back in this situation and if it was this easy of a fix then why was it not done in a reasonable timeframe. It is also suspicious that now something is being done because it seems like they do not want to give us a complete new car, which to my understanding is required by law. This has been a very unpleasant experience, and we never had this problem with our Volkswagen Jetta.

It has been 3 plus years (March 2016) since I paid off the car in question and ever since I have tried to get a house the past few months have been hell because I have had to verify it every time someone checks my credit because your company didnt do what they were supposed to do when I turned in the car. As we were traveling down the road one day, our Volkswagen TDI started to make this awful noise and started to sound like it was going to cut out on us. We were about 16 miles out of town and turned back and went home. We had to drive slow, as the car kept making this awful sound and acted like it was going to quit running. When we got home, my husband pulled it into the garage and started to look things over. He took the panel that was on the underside of the car off and found all kinds of metal shavings and oil. It looked horrible. We called Broadway and explained what happened and then had the car towed to their garage (35 miles one way). After they looked at it, it was discovered that there was a 2-piece flywheel that flew apart. What is a 2-piece flywheel doing in a diesel car? It is my understanding that because of the torque that is produced by a diesel engine, it should have been a 1-piece flywheel. As the result of the flywheel coming apart, the pieces of metal shot through and into the transmission wall and wrecked the transmission. Broadway contacted Volkswagen and explained what happened. They agreed to replace the flywheel, but would not cover any of the transmission because the car was out of warranty. We had 85,000 miles on the car and warranty was up at 60,000 miles. There were 2 other cars that were brought into this dealer for the same issue and Volkswagen wouldnt touch one of them because that car had 112,000 miles on it. The other vehicle had the extended warranty so therefore that car was fixed. This was a problem in another country (I cant remember which one it was) and Volkswagen recalled these cars. The car did get fixed with a 1-piece flywheel and $5,400. This cost did not include the cost of the flywheel, which would have been an additional $750 had Volkswagen not covered that cost.I will not own another Volkswagen vehicle (this vehicle was our second TDI). Had Volkswagen paid for at least, if not all, of the cost of the transmission replacement, it would have made them a better looking company. What they did was wrong and the consumer paid for it.

When I purchased my VW GTI it rode very rough. I asked if the PDI had been performed when I was completing the purchase paperwork and I was told that it had. After a week of a very rough ride in the front I checked to see if the shipping pucks had been removed from the front struts. They had not (3 pucks in each strut) leading me to believe that no PDI had been performed. I emailed the dealer manager to notify them of this and see if I could have my struts checked for damage and got no reply. Now today I brought my GTI in to have the first service completed. After waiting 2 hours from my appt. time/drop off I asked if my car was ready. I was informed that there was a mistake with my paperwork and they hadnt started! 45 minutes later I was informed my service was completed. I lifted the hood in front of the service desk to inspect the service but before I could pull the dipstick I noticed there was oil on my right fender, on the engine cover and my front license plate was bent out from the bumper at a 90 degree angle (not how it had arrived 3 hrs. Earlier). They bent back the plate and told me I was good to go. I was beyond furious so I headed home. After I got home I checked the oil to find it overfilled by 1qt. Horrible service. Completely unacceptable.

On September 16; 2017; I purchased a Golf GTI from Jim Wynn Volkswagen. The car was only 17 miles when I drove out of the dealership. I have a work vehicle that I use on a daily basis so this car is for my personal use. On February 17, 2018, I was at a red light on Philadelphia US 1 with clutch in and in first gear, I tried to move when the light turned green but the car wont drive. The clutch was depressed. I turned the ignition off, put the gear in neutral, the hand brake up, and put on my four-way pointer. I was able to pull up the clutch with my feet. With the clutch in, I started the car and tried to shift to first gear but couldnt shift gear. I had the car towed initially to my parents house and on February 19, I eventually towed to Jim Wynn dealership. At this point, my car only has 318 Miles on it. It is practically a new vehicle and my expectation is that my warranty will cover any related issues. On 2/20/18, I was informed by the Jim Wynn dealership that they need my authorization before they can look at the car and I will be responsible for $2,600. I was in shocked because this is obviously a manufacturable defect. The service manager, Michael ** said to take it up with Volkswagen Customer Care. I called Volkswagen Customer Care to report the issue and I was told that an agent will contact me. On 02/21/2018 @ 1301, I received a call from Volkswagen Customer Care. I stated my position on the issue. I told them I shouldnt have to pay for a warranty issue on a new car with only about 300 miles on it. The agent was very disrespectful and he told me that Im welcome to take my car somewhere else if I dont like Volkswagen position on my warranty issue. I asked for another agent perhaps his supervisor and have stated that he is the only one that would be able to help me. I asked that he send me an email regarding Volkswagen position on my warranty issue, he stated that hell get to it whenever he can. As a customer, I am frustrated, speechless, and appalled by the customer service I received from both Jim Wynn Volkswagen and Volkswagen Customer Service.

They refuse to replace the seat from another VW Atlas that is on the lot. I am sure they can do a temp repair of putting foam in the seat frame but they wont even do that. My 2006 VW Passat died on me at 87,000 miles about a week ago. After receiving the countless letters about the parts of my car that theyd be happy to service over the years because, oops! They realized theyre faulty, my car left me stranded about a week ago. The service people stated itd be 4-5 thousand dollars to repair. According to Kelly Blue Book thats about how much the car was worth 2 weeks ago when it ran. Every time I took this car in to be serviced, the VW technicians would present me with a list of the issues with the car, ranked in order of severity. Whereas most car techs are trying to swindle the customer out of money (historically), I actually believe the VW technicians were being honest: my VW ACTUALLY was riddled with problems that were no fault of my own, simply because these cars suck! The technician informed me that one matter in need of attention was the crack somewhere in the structural frame of the front of my car that could get progressively worse OR may just continue to exist but never cause a problem. How does a car that hasnt ever been in an accident suddenly crack? I never realized the internal frame of my VW was made of eggshell...My advice? Steer clear of VWs. Even my friends CC tells him Service Now! every time he starts his car, and it has less than 10,000 miles on it. Youll know quickly youve made a mistake when you received the letter about the engine coils that are bound to malfunction or whatever other part of your recently purchased vehicle will screw you over next... On a separate note... Anyone wanna buy a project? If you like restoring dead cars, the VW dealership in Cary said theyd give me $150 for it... top that and its sold! :)

I had a MAP sensor replaced after the engine light came on. It came back on again after a month. Today driving and less than a 1/2 mile from home a warning came on and read low oil pressure engine off, but it never did go off. I pulled up a few recalls Friday before I left work, one being the MAP sensor and creaking of the suspension (I heard it a few times but thought maybe it was just cold) and worn, cracked CV boots. I contacted the dealer and currently waiting for a appointment to address the recalls. You can find most recalls on the Chiltons Library.

Full bumper to bumper extension of the factory warrantee from 4 years, 50,000 miles to 6 years 85,000 miles. Covers all non-consumable items and includes roadside assistance. Melds nicely with VWs Car-net. Yes, you need a VW service department BUT there are plenty in the area that I primarily drive and there are so few truly qualified local mechanics in the area. With all of the electronics on my new car, I needed the peace of mind, that if even a minor component occurs, the vehicle would be repaired with genuine VW parts by factory trained service techs.

So I get a postcard in the mail for a recall in my ABS system in my car (2009 VW Jetta). I make an appt at VW in Clarksburg WV for 0900 on June 19th. After sitting for an hour and a half I check the status of my car. The service manager says it should only take 30 minutes for my car and I told him is already been waiting an hour and a half. He goes, checks on my car. States that they have to order a new ABS SYSTEM for my car which 9 out 10 times a car doesnt need it. But mine does. He then says they dont recommend me driving it until its fixed. So I ask if they are going to give me a temporary or loaner vehicle to which he says I cant. We dont have any. So I ask if they will provide a rental. He says VW doesnt do that.So what do I do? The manager says, If you want your car you have to sign a waiver and pushes my car keys into his pocket. So I was told I could have my car if I signed a waiver releasing them of liability if I get in an accident but they wont provide me with any type of vehicle to drive temporarily. So with great hesitation I sign and voice my opinion on how bad their service is and always has been but this was topping it. Told theyd call me when the replacement came in.11 days later, I just called them and asked why they havent called me about it. The manager again (how hes the service manager is beyond me bc he does a very poor job at retaining customers or helping them) says to me I havent called bc I havent had any available appts open to get you in! I said dont you think you should call me so that I can make an appt at least?!?!? After all I am driving around with a disabled ABS system!!!Without any regard to my well being or my kids who ride in my vehicle or others on the road, he says I guess I can get you in July 10th. You guess??? I am so appalled and so extremely angry at how incompetent and irresponsible this man is!! He lacks any concern for others and hes fat lazy **. Cannot and does not even attempt to help me in this situation. I highly suggest that VW replace him with someone who knows what theyre are doing. I will never, ever buy another vehicle from VW!!! They have done nothing but give me a run around from day 1.

Volkswagen cc - I had started a 3 year lease in 2010. I did everything I was told to do and the car was serviced in a diligent and timely manner. Midway through the lease while driving with my 2 young kids the car stalled and would not restart. It was a horrible experience. The diagnosis was carbon emissions in the fuel exhaust mechanism or something like that. Ive since lost the records but Im sure VW has them as I submitted everything. They denied any responsibility and I incurred over 1200$ worth of damage and repairs. They stated that it was a part of normal service. This always smelled bad to me and I finally decided to throw my hat into the ring today only to find out that the cc is not covered. Needless to say Im very disappointed. This all still smells bad to me.

I have a 2009 EOS - never again. While I like the car, especially the convertible top and driving experience, it has been multiple mechanical failures, some covered under recalls, others out of my pocket. I have had the injectors and ABS module replaced under recalls, and paid $2200 for a rear main seal (part $25 - the rest labor) caused by the engine oil pump malfunctioning and blowing the seal. When I got the car back after the ABS recall, it went into limp mode (stuck in second gear) and I returned to the dealership. Code on transmission says it has faulted 36 times - no dates - but this was the first indication it had a problem - no check engine light ever.Volkswagen says Sorry - out of warranty with no recognition of 36 previous faults, nor that problem appeared after testing for the recall on ABS module. Coincidence? They claim no. Right. Dealer tells me replacement is $5k-$6k, which is KBB value on sale to private party. Done with VW - working my way out of the two I have now. Know this: If the company hasnt been forced to do a recall on a problem, they will expect owner to pay. Doesnt seem like much has changed ever since US buyers have been lied to about the diesel fiasco.

They will scam you out of every single penny you own. They have terrible customer service, you have to wait hours to get anything fixed. Don’t EVER lease a car with them or you will end up basically paying for the entire car and then having to give it back. They are a scam. They have recalls all the time. I will NEVER EVER EVER buy another VW again.

I am fairly new to the VW family, but have been a loyal member up until now
I am fairly new to the VW family, but have been a loyal member up until now. I have a 2014 Passat SE TSi with only 57K miles on it. It is in pristine condition (my son has a 2008 Jetta SE as his first car). I am extremely unhappy about a design flaw that has occurred; something that VW knows exists and has existed for some time. The fuel door stopped opening (and there is no manual override or cable in the trunk to open it). The actuator had gotten out of sync with the cars locking system. Running on fumes, I took that car to Kotters VW in Escondido, CA. Kotters is a certified VW specialist that has been in the same location for more than 35 years. They are first rate and highly respected. After looking at my car and doing so research, including speaking to VW, the master mechanic informed me of the design flaw to which there is no real fix (just temporary ones). So that I could get gas and use the fuel door without fear of it happening again, he disabled the lock to the door. Now I can open and close manually, but cannot lock it.This is not the ideal solution and is not how the car was designed, but I do not want to get stranded. The fuel door is part of the fuel system as a vital component of the car. It should not fail at 57K miles and should be covered until at least 60K. Unfortunately, this is very common, and if you look online, many others have battled it.He was able to re-sync the fuel door lock with the cars door locks, but after testing it, the fuel door locked up again after about 10 times. I contacted VW and was told they could likely assist with the repair but that I would need to pay a dealer to diagnose first. This is not acceptable. I paid a reputable mechanic $100 to diagnose and provide temporary resolution. I am not going to pay a dealer again to learn the same thing. I want it fixed right. My point to the customer service person was that it does not matter what the diagnosis says; the fuel system needs to be accessible! Regardless of what it is, whether it is the actuator itself or something in the cars locking system, it needs to be resolved as soon as possible.I would like an appointment set up at Kearny Mesa VW in San Diego, John ** is the service manager. Please assist me in getting this fixed so I can again be a confident VW owner. If it is the actuator, the part is about $35-50, and the labor is likely an hour (open up truck liner and swap out). I have never had something like this happen with our Honda or Toyota vehicles, and never in a car so new. I would rather have to get a different brand than get stuck without the ability to refuel. Thank you very much for your timely assistance.

Lost my only remote and key for my Volkswagen 2010 Golf. Recently purchase this car and the Remote/key worked perfect. I lost the remote and Remote/key a couple of days ago. Went to the Bozzani Volkswagen in Covina California, and order a new Remote/key for $300 plus. The key was ready in 2 business days and my car was towed to the dealer so Remote/key can be programmed. The Remote/key was program by the dealer. The remote didnt worked, but the key was able to start the car. The dealer told me that most likely was a wiring problem and they need to run a diagnostics on the car. How can that be? If the original Remote/key worked just fine. Im getting ready to contact the dealer again and tell them that I cant pay for the diagnostics since seems that the problem is the way the programmed the key. They really need to take care of this issue. They are responsible since they programmed the Remote/key. I will update this review once I contact the dealer again and see what they are planning to do about this issue. If they take care of the issue I definitely will give them a good review.

After four years of dealing with Volkswagen customer service I have made my mind up to never buy another! I like my 2010 Jetta TDI Sportswagen - its a nice car to drive and get decent fuel mileage. I have dealt with two different dealerships on various issues, and feel their service representatives are very poorly trained. Can you imagine one of them telling me that my spark plugs needed replacement - on a diesel, there are no spark plugs! Or a labor charge of $90.00 to replace the rear window wiper. The wiper itself cost $16.00 as a separate charge. This car has never been touched by anyone but VW dealers, and they stripped the oil pans drain plug out?? Then blamed it on me because I have the cars oil changed too frequently??The latest issue was an engine trouble light. They charged me $99.99 just to read the problem, then tell me the problem is your glow plug is bad. Diesel engine will not start without an active glow plug. I feel I am being ripped off. And when I total all the charges, I realize I would have been better off financially driving another vehicle with half the fuel economy. Today I got an answer back from corporate that they took my complaint and passed it on to the dealer -- whats wrong with this picture??? Before you invest in any Volkswagen product, consider their poor, and very expensive service work, and no help from the manufacturer. Customer Service Counts!!!

At the end of the Lease, the inspector charged me for damages that do not exist. I called VW, I talked to a supervisor. I explained to her that the inspector (who was rude) charged me for a previous repair without any visible damage, charged me for a dent in the door (there was no dent) and charged me for a dent BELOW the car (need to lay in the floor to see it). She said the only way they will take off those charges was with an invoice from a body shop that states that were repaired. I requested her to do another inspection and she said no, they dont do more inspections, so because I insisted her then at the end she accepted to credit me $200 on the final bill. I went to a body shop, I explained to him what was going on and he was in shock. He told me there was nothing he could do because there was nothing to repair, I should hire an attorney. The day of the car return I explained to the person that received the car all this. He start looking at the car and he didnt understand why I was being charged. I got the final bill a month later and I have been charged in full without any credit.

I am writing this initial email today as a very frustrated, angered and distressed customer. I purchased my Pre owned certified VW Jetta 2 years ago this month at the Tysons Stohlman VW, and Yaw ** is who initiated the sale. I have been taking my car to the Stohlman Service shop for my oil changes since I purchased my car. This past week, I brought my car in for an oil change, a bulb replacement and to replace a hubcap that had fallen off of my right front passenger side door. After leaving my vehicle, and going to work, I received a phone call from the manager of the service shop. He let me know that I had more issues than just replacing the hubcap. He stated that my left front tire was so worn I would not make it home and needed to purchase a tire immediately. He then said, he refused to sell me the hubcap until I left my car at the shop to replace the wheel, get a tire/wheel alignment and possibly have the bar replaced underneath the vehicle.I left work – went to the service center immediately and let him know there was nothing wrong with the wheel. All I wanted to do was purchase the hubcap and pay for the oil change and the bulb replacement. The manager let me know that all of the above service needed to be done that day – the latest the following day and again discouraged me from just purchasing the hubcap. Literally he was letting me know that my car was unsafe to operate. I let him know I would purchase a tire if I must (as he let me know it may bust leaving the dealership) but not at VW. That night, I did purchase a tire. However, with the advice of my fiancé, I took my vehicle to get a second opinion and estimate for the service your manager assured me I needed. Which by the way - when totaled was over $300 worth of extra repair on top of the $133 I paid for an oil change and a bulb replacement.I am writing this to let you know the following. I took my car the next day to get a second opinion and the details I found is enough to make me report this service center. The certified repair shop that I went to not only did a full inspection of my entire vehicle and parts – but let me know I did NOT need a new wheel, I did not need an alignment and that VW purposefully was trying to take advantage of me – a young woman, working professional, who does not know much about cars or service in order to make a profit or increase their sales for service that day at my expense.Let me explain something. I worked too hard, as a 24 year old, now 26, black female to have purchased this vehicle, pay $350 a month and attempt to keep up with the maintenance – just for your service center manager and employees to have their priority be to get over on customers like me, and who are too busy lying to even realize they replaced the WRONG bulb on my vehicle. Needless to say, I am disgusted with this service. Feel completely taken advantage of. Had I not gone for a second opinion and inspection, I would have potentially paid hundreds of dollars in unnecessary repairs. This is unacceptable and disgusting behavior for a company that I thought had its customers’ best interest from day one.

Beware of the scam Half off the oil change. It looks like they might be putting half the oil!!! From day one always service my vehicle with Volkswagen. No one besides Volkswagen dealerships shop serviced my vehicle. A few days ago the car stopped on the freeway while driving. Lucky no one was hurt. When insurance inspector got back to me they stated that the cause of the accident was Engine fail due to zero oil in Engine. The engine had turned black inside and there was no sign of an oil change done for months. Which is not true. Also no sign of any leakage. None of the service light ever came on indicating that there was something wrong with the vehicle! The vehicle even states that Im not due for an oil change yet! When I called VW they gave me the runaround basically telling me that even though the car is not due for an oil change for another 2000 mile or months their hands are tied. Because The vehicle has too many mileage (94000) and to old (2011). But they would be happy to forward my complaint to the dealer that did my oil change. They didnt even offer to have my car inspected by one of their shop. Thought I was saving when I got that offer in the mail half off my oil change. Which now is going to cost me a new engine!

I have had 6 VWs since 1968, and they do not work well. Yes I am a chump. I get drawn in by VWs nice fit and handling. But, believe me they make a very unreliable car. But the worst part is the arrogance that imbues every VW. Of course the TDI cheating scandal just underscores decades of this arrogance. When the Passat I had got bad coils a few years back they would not admit it. They would only replace them one at time as they failed. When a brand new Jetta gas model had the oil seal break all over my garage after 4k miles it was just business as usual. I have had every sort of fan failure, electric issue under the sun. Both my Passat and daughters Jetta heater blowers sound like birds chirping when you take left turn. Bring it under warranty and VW says no problem found. How about blinker signals that do not work when it get below 25 degrees F? Friends, any car can have problems but with VW they just dont care and that attitude just cost them billions of dollars, so far, and millions of USA customers. The brand is permanently sullied. I bet they dont care since they can make up their lost sales in China, they think.

First off let me start by saying that I do love my 2013 Turbo Diesel Beetle
First off let me start by saying that I do love my 2013 Turbo Diesel Beetle Convertible, its the prettiest car on the road...and everyone asks me how I like it...I love it, love to drive it...love to look at it...and I take really good care of it. There are two design flaws, one is the keyless start...the other is the unfortunate placement of the hard wired iPhone charger INSIDE the glove compartment, so that if you need to charge your phone while driving you have to keep the glove compartment open. One wonders about German engineering. That said, the car gets rock star mileage and its fast. But I had to have the 10,000 mile service in Brooklyn NY because I was visiting family and could not do it in Maine. So the VW dealership in Bay Ridge Brooklyn houses a bundle of other car companies. ITs old, cramped, dirty, crowded and unpleasant. I brought in my almost brand spanking new car. I said, Im here for a 10,000 mile service, please take good care of my car. A loaner was provided and off I went. Later that day I came back to get my car. I asked for only one thing, to have the rear headrests taken off while they were servicing the car. When I got the car there were the headrests. I was told the headrests dont come off...I thought, well Ive had a few cars, Im no expert but every headrest Ive seen comes off. The service person told me, I was completely wrong that the service people pulled and pulled and they would not come out. I took out the manual, respectfully trying to show him that I not only know they come out but because there is limited rear visibility with the car, they suggest that they should come out when not needed. He said I was wrong again, I tried to show him in the manual how clearly defined the instructions for removal and how simple it was. He finally acquiesced and took the car back into the service area. Now let me ask the obvious question, IF the service guys didnt know that they could remove headrests do you think I would feel confident that my tires were correctly rotated or my oil was property changed? I think not. The car came back to me, headrests out, but soiled where the work was done. Gladly my service guy cleaned the grease...and I got into my car to leave and looked up and there on the right side of my windshield was a giant crack. Seriously. I couldnt even make this up. Now the service manager comes out. He tells me that it was a stone, how does he know this, because of the way the crack looks. Now this is coming from a person who manages people who dont know about headrests...and hes abrupt, no apologies...just aggressive...I say, but I brought in a car with no crack at 9:30 this morning and its 4:30 and theres a crack. Now can a car be serviced and not one person notices this crack...and you say it was a stone and when the car tires were rotated then it caused the crack to spread. Oh my GOD! He said hed take care of it on Monday, it was Friday. I drove my car home as the crack spread. I called him many times but he did not call me back. Finally Monday I got in touch with him and brought my car in. Guess what!!! No windshield on Monday, No windshield on Tuesday and No windshield on Weds (until Weds eve) why? Because they told me that it was not in stock at the auto glass people, then Tuesday the one they got in had a crack, and they had decided not to install a cracked glass (really?), and then today Weds I could get my car...but guess what - now they were not honoring the agreement that there would be no deductible, because they did not realize that my insurance was out of State...MY PLATES ARE FROM MAINE. Not one person really looked at my car. I hesitate with this statement but as soon as I leave NY and head back to Maine, Im going to have another dealer check and see if the tires were indeed rotated and the oil was changed, and if so if its all proper. Id be terrified to bring my car there again. They are so hard on the cars, they dont listen, they over talk you and they are obviously not knowledgeable about VWs. Its very sad to see this. I am surprised VW allows this kind of service representation. I have no recourse, the dealer is going to split the deductible with me. How can I fight this, I just want to return the loaner and have my car back and get out of there. I could have brought my car to any auto glass company ... but brought it back there because - well I must be crazy to have thought that it would go smoothly. Anyway, beware this dealership if you have a VW.

Altogether infuriating experience. Because I live more than an hours drive away, I made a morning appointment to take my Passat in and find out why it was leaking coolant. I expected to be able to take it home that afternoon at the very latest. I showed up a few minutes before my 11:00am appointment, and was immediately told my car could not even be looked at until 2:30pm. And that they would call me when they had news. Seriously? Why do they set appointments at all if it is meaningless? Fortunately, my husband was also in town with his car, so he picked me up and we ran a few errands. By around 4:30, I still had not heard a word from VW, so I called the service department. THEN I was told that they still had not figured it out.... probably it still had not even been looked at. So we went back up the road to home, an hour and 20 minutes north.Late the next afternoon they finally called to tell me that my car needed a new heater core that would cost almost $1,700. That, in addition to the nearly $150 they charge just to diagnose the problem. I told them Id pick it up the following day, which I did. Another trip into Springfield, more miles on my husbands car and 2 1/2 hours out of an already busy day, just to go get it. So I wrote them out an invoice of my own, charging for the extra cost on my end as a result of them not honoring my appointment time. Im sure they laughed at that... and of course they did not discount my diagnostic bill to compensate, not one penny. In the meantime, I was in touch with a local trusted mechanic that I should have gone to in the first place, who said he could install a new heater core for about $750, less than half what the VW quote was. I wont be giving Napleton VW of Springfield any more of my business, and advise anyone else to steer clear as well.

Purchased a used 2010 Volkswagen cc about a year ago with 70,000 miles. Clean carfax, no accidents. I did have the understanding Volkswagens are expensive to have worked on, but also thought they are supposed to be well built and reliable. The car has been a nightmare from day 1. Just the last 2 months alone the has been in and out of the dealership 5 times. The intake manifold, all the fuel injectors, the fuel pump, fuel pump control module, carbon build up... on and on and just as horrible as the car is the dealership. Ship is just as bad (maybe worse). Volkswagen doesnt stand by their product. They know about all the problems people have with them and they dont care.Just with the fuel system alone I truly dont believe all those parts I mentioned above failed. I think the techs just kept throwing parts at it until it ran at my expense of course. I could keep going and going... Long story short do yourself a favor and buy another brand. I hope the emissions scandal puts them out of business. Every time I drive the car I now wonder am I going to arrive at my destination? Totally disgusted!!!

TDI Settlement - The initial process of having VW review my documents took much longer than the stated/required time and I anticipated a delay due to the volume. I received my final offer letter 12/28/2016 and before I could send them back my car was totaled on 12/30/2016. I have since called the 1-844-98-CLAIM number listed on the VW claim site 4 times. I have gotten a different answer every time on how to switch the claim to restitution only. I was advised that I do qualify for restitution and I hope that is true. Ive been advised to fill out the 24-page paper claim and send it in. I was then told that my login would be restarted and I would then file for restitution only. To restart the website would take 3 days. Its been a week and nothing has changed on the website. Ive asked for a supervisor to call me which would take 24-72 business hours and Im beyond that and no call.I called back today and was advised a new option to start a new claim on the website with a different email address. I again asked for a supervisor to call, however I have NO faith that it will ever happen. Im not about to fill out a 24-page paper claim form or create a new email address just to start the claim process all over again online. VW has all my ownership information and it has been verified. I can understand submitting proof that the car was in an accident and rendered a total loss. I have no problem submitting additional required documentation, but to start all over after months of waiting is ridiculous to ask their customers.

I noticed my 2009 Volkswagen Tiguan Headliner was coming apart from the sun
I noticed my 2009 Volkswagen Tiguan Headliner was coming apart from the sunglass compartment. The next morning it had separated from the light. I drove my car to the Lundes dealer in Peoria. The serviceman gave me the number to Volkswagen customer service. I spoke to Dylan, who told me they only warranty the item for 3 years/36 thousand miles. I was so upset. I asked to talk to his supervisor, who on a Friday was not around. I received a call from Stephanie this morning, restating my concerns of the failing headliner. I asked if she wanted pictures to help VW figure out why they have failing glue. She just repeated what the script reader had to say. I then asked to talk to her manager. I havent heard from them. I cannot believe a car this age has a headliner falling down. I would be ashamed if I was Volkswagen. This is not a wear and tear item. This should not be happening. Thanks Volkswagen for the disappointment.

My husband and I have had a 2015 Volkswagen Passat that we leased in Sept of 2015 from AutoFair Volkswagen of Nashua. When we did this we were not given a choice of color, make, model etc., nor did they work within our budget of what we could afford for a car payment. They told us not to worry about mileage as we are now over our mileage that we were allotted for the 4 year lease. We have tried several times to trade it in for something smaller and they won’t work with us, they have called us multiple times wanting to buy the car back and we go up there and they tell us there is nothing that they can do for us. I have made several attempts to reach out to the sales manager and she will not return my phone call. She finally returned my call to tell me she had no recollection of the CEO of Volkswagen calling and speaking with her that she had no notes, but yet he called me to tell me he spoke with her and she would be calling me to see what they could do to rectify the situation. I again have put in another call to the CEO awaiting his return phone call to discuss this matter. If this doesn’t get resolved I will have no choice but to hire an attorney and deal with this Legally as we are not happy with the car and it has some mechanical issues that need to be fixed.

I leased 2 vehicles from Volkswagen and then was forced to buy one as the first two sales agents let me get $9000 “upside down” in equity without telling me. The last car on the lot was a demo and the only one they said I could have. It has had electronic problems since day 1. Windshield wipers turn on by themselves. Bluetooth and radio audio are sporadic at best. It’s a lemon that was left on the lot as a demo and they saw a way to dump it on a Customer who had been screwed on their lease agreement.

VW has a horrible service and warranty program. It is one of the main reasons that this is the last VW I will own. A local dealer owns the three local dealers so it could be them but since we have no other options it is really neither here nor there. Initially you could get results when calling VW corporate but even that has gone downhill. Besides should you really have to do that for the dealer to do the right thing? Everyone’s opinion and experience with VW is absolutely true. AS I was shopping for a new car I did my research on all the cars I was interested in. I came across reviews for VW they were all negative. I took in reviews into consideration, however, I thought to myself that some people just like to complain. My bad y’all. I should have listened and ran the other way. This unethical company is the scums of scums. I bought a brand new 2018 GTI in July of this year. I was treated very very poorly at David Maus VW South. They even charged me for a $600 package that’s suppose to be free, all because the car was transferred from their sister lot David Maus on LEE Rd. A few days after having the car the visor underneath the sunroof retracts on its own. I constantly have to keep pulling it forward, warning light came on saying it cannot detect the key fob. Mind you the key fob is in the cup holder. As of 09/19/2018 the “one touch feature that opens the sunroof stop working. Now I have to open the sunroof manually. Ok y’all so how bout I’m driving on 2 separate occasions when I press the break the lights flicker and the car shuts off!! So in conclusion VW are unethical, criminals, and soon they will be labeled as MURDERS. How can I feel safe in my car when ** like this is happening. DO NOT BUY A VW. The first day I drove my new 2019 Tiguan SEL home, I opened the passenger driver-side door and the handle got stuck and would not go back in...Made an appointment for 2-days later to get this fixed. During the 2-day waiting period, I was stopped in a turning lane on a four-lane, lighted road to make a u-turn. When I hit the gas pedal to go the car jerked forward, and went to a standstill for about 5-seconds while my foot was firmly pressing the gas pedal. This caused the two oncoming vehicles to have to screech to a stop; and the vehicle in the middle lane had to swerve to avoid hitting me and spin out. When the Tiguan started moving forward, I had to pull over because I was shaking. The same issue happened again the next day, but no oncoming cars were in sight.Went in for the door appointment, I told the service rep about engine and asked to speak to a manager. An assistant manager came out, I told him about the engine, and he respond thats a VW and gave me a hug and two free t-shirts. New door handle had to be ordered due to corrosion, had to come back 3-days later to have it fixed. During those 3-days, the passenger seat seat belt warning sound started randomly going off, along with the airbag light flashing above the hazard light when my handbag was on the seat. Reported that and the engine issue again at next appointment. Had to leave the car for two days...At pick-up was told everything was tested fine, but VW did not bother to test the seat sensor. Was instructed to not put anything on the passenger seat, as stated in the cars manual.I was in tears telling VW of Naples dealership that I felt totally unsafe but they would not help me get another vehicle and told me to get back into this vehicle. So I contacted Volkswagen corporate to request a new vehicle, or to let me out of my lease...Denied. Both VW corporate and Naples, FL dealership did not care about my safety at all, nor that I was obviously an unhappy customer. Money should never come before safety, so I paid to get out of my lease. This is a deadly safety issue.

Again I am writing to you, this time to share my frustration with the Volkswagen product purchased and the response received when my situation was reported. Back in August 2017, I wrote you outlining my situation; being more specific, while going to work at approximately 7:40 am in “stop and go” traffic my car shut off placing it in a no start condition, had to towed it to my mechanic and I was told I had to replace the fuel pump and the fuel pump module. A representative from your office contacted me from the number ** during the third week of September, informing that my request could not be honored because the warranty on my car expired. Approximately three weeks later I receive a recall notice from Volkswagen informing there is a faulty fuel pump control module in my car.I am of the opinion that Volkswagen was aware of the existence of the defect and that I was place in a situation where there was an increase likelihood of the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. This is by far a bad representation of the Volkswagen product and I feel hurt I was placed in this situation; this is bad customer service! This is a clear case of trickery and or dishonest act for financial gain. As a senior citizen, I am very deliberate about where and when I spend my money. I intensely researched this product to great extent before purchasing it but to my surprise I was taken advantage off and I am outraged because I was deceived by your company’s practices.

Beware of leasing through VW Credit! I have leased for 20+ years and I have never gone through the issues Im going through with VW Credit after turning in my 2009 Jetta 3,000 miles under mileage! They will rake you for every little ding, scratch, burn, tires, normal wear and tear, anything they can get from you. I will never lease from them again! I am starting a website for other people Ive had contact with to share similar stories. So when the site is complete, I will make sure everyone knows how they do business.Ive never had to pay for tires (they were exactly where they should have been when turning it in). You can turn in a Honda, Toyota, Lexus, etc. with bald tires and they wont bother you! It’s normal wear and tear after 36 months. Ive only ever had to pay for over mileage! VW Credit is ridiculous and I, nor my friends, family, neighbors or co-workers will ever do business with them again!

I just found out that my car has been affected by the Takata airbag recall for over a year and I was not notified about the problem and has been driving an unsafe vehicle this whole time. There is obviously no fix for yet and who knows when/if they will ever repair the problem. Ive been trying to sell this vehicle as I purchased a new car a few months ago and as you can imagine no one will buy this VW because of the recall. As a single mother I simply cant afford making 2 car payments, insurances etc. so I requested that VW buys the car from me. To my surprise they said they couldnt help me!! So now Im stuck with a vehicle that I cant afford and no one will buy including VW!! Im truly disgusted by the whole experience and the company. This isnt my first VW but will sure be my last one.

I have owned many VWs in my life and unfortunately, this will be my last. I have had nothing but problems with my 99 Passat 1.8T. It recently started to suffer the dreaded sludge issue. VW does not care. The car is old. Time to buy a new one, says the dealer. They give out the wrong information for maintenance with the vehicle and now its too bad for me the car is old apparently. The owners manual says to use conventional or synthetic. Conventional oil sludges these motors and now Im sol. So, I would highly suggest that no one buys a VW. Unfortunately, I just got a 2011 TDi. My husband and I have a contractors business so we drive a lot between sites. There were very long and meaningless explanations as to why they couldnt help us with another vehicle. The worst of all is the lack of communication. Not a single person in the dealership knows when their vehicle part will arrive and nobody is letting us know whats going on. If you ask for a date and time, the person will react by saying they dont want to pin on a direct date because they dont want to be held responsible. My car computer said the Convertible Top needed to be serviced. I hadnt used the top for about 6 months prior to the light coming on. I took it in to the local dealership and was told that one of the latches that hold the hard top on was not working well. They ordered the part and finally got them in 4 weeks later. They replaced the latches then called and told me that it still was not working and that there was a bent left hinge to the roof that was the problem. VW would only be able to fix this problem by replacing the entire roof for $9500. I created a case with VW USA and when they said that my car was 9000 miles out of the manufacturers warranty, but the car was still only 2.5 years old, and there was nothing they could do for me, I escalated an email to the CEO of VW USA. A department Assistant called me back, said they would send their field service manager for the region out to look at the car and get back to me. They would not give me any names of anyone that was looking at my car besides the dealership mechanics. They called back and would not help me with fixing the car. Essentially I was leasing a $20,000 car that had $10,000 of damage that I didnt cause and VW said, Oh well, cant help you. This was 4 months ago. Ive talked to several current and former VW mechanics and they all said that VW is the only shop that can fix the car. They did however share with me a tech-tip that shows a manufacturers issue with a grommet in the left side of the convertible top that can pop loose, causing the exact damage that Im experiencing with my convertible top. That was posted in April of 2013, and the dealership did not mention this or to my knowledge investigate it. I loved this car. Ive barely driven it over the last 8 months. Im so disappointed in VW for not only NOT rectifying such a strange mechanical problem, but expecting anyone to fix a car for the ridiculous amount of $10,000. The dealership was great and very helpful but I cant help but wonder if the hinge wasnt damaged by the dealership after the fact. The top still doesnt work and I have no resolution. BAD REPUTATION for VW. Every mechanic I spoke with said that VW are the toughest and most expensive cars to work on and they recommend to everyone not to be them. This is my first negative rating of anything, ever! I am so angry and truly disappointed that VW has chosen to not deal with this. Not that VW cares but I will never buy another VW and I will advise anyone I know to stay away from them as well.

At the end of the Hybrid Supplement, it notes that if the gas tank does not accept fuel please advise to bring it to an authorized dealership. I brought in the car the first time: Never resolved the issue. Second time the issue was never resolved again. During the second time they recommend that I have to fix the fuel door actuator and that would cause a check engine light. I replaced the fuel door actuator and that never resolved any issue. During this transition the car had a vac pump issue and the e-motor system fails. I complain that my car still doesnt accept gas and other issues had arisen, and reading their warranties it says non-warrantied parts that are damaged due to the warrantied parts will be replaced free of charge. I brought in the car for the third time. They denied any warranties that will cover the fuel door as well as the vacuum pump.I argued for quite sometime because one of the service member called me saying it would be the engine control module. They went back and forth to figure out what was the issue and most likely didnt want to express the real issue on this car because the ECM is in fact on the parts list. They fixed the fuel door actuator and it was a circuit issue. There is a very extensive list for PZEV warrantied parts which also includes a vacuum amplifier 2567. I called numerous dealerships and all the service technicians do not know anything about a vacuum amplifier, VW Care says that the dealerships are their best technical advisers and we do not know what a vacuum amplifier is. I would expect that a vacuum amplifier is a vacuum pump synonymously. 2567 service code is for the engine, the vacuum pump questioned is mounted behind the engine from what a service technician told me.Also in their warranty booklet it notes that if the dealership denies a claim, that it would send a written explanation why they would deny the claims within 30 days. If they fail to send a written response then, by law they would warrant those claims. So the supervisor Mary ** denies the claim over the phone after Volkswagen DTLA wont let me keep the car there until the claim is resolved. She never written a response letter or any explanation what a vacuum amplifier 2567 is as well as reason why the vacuum pump doesnt have anything to do with the emissions. I asked numerous technicians if the vacuum pump is related to emissions and was told numerous times that in fact it is. I wanted to escalate my claim and asked again to please re-look into my case.Bill, a regional VW Customer care agent tells me lets bring it to another dealership and look at the issues and lets get everything resolved so we can get a fresh non-biased report. I do bring it into another dealership and that dealership mistakenly calls me and asked to speak with DTLA Volkswagen. The new dealership says its just a gas cap. Also the fuel door actuator fails again.VW Care deny claims once again and of course VW Care rudely uses scare tactics and employees like Bill ** and Preston are very good at intimidating me rather than listen to the case carefully as they insist that they will now write a written response for the denial of my claim more than 60 days past the original claim for the vacuum pump and fuel door actuator. I am very curious what else will lead to these numerous PZEV issues. I would highly stay away from Volkswagen, if they lied and cheated under their diesel engines; most likely there are issues with their emissions as well.

This process took way too long to solve. I had divorced and changed my name before the recall started. In filling out the many pages required by VW, a question was have you had a name change. Oh! I wish I hadnt said yes. I sent proof of name change with an ID. My drivers license. This set me back a month or more with getting my paperwork done. No one had enough common sense to know how to handle a name change. One CS said I needed a proof of a marriage certificate. What??? Marriage certificate, I said, I was divorced. People, I was on the phone for 2 hours and 15 minutes wanting to know how to resolve how to show another way to prove my name change. I sent a copy of the page in my divorce papers that proved my name change. This was not enough. I had to send my whole divorce decree. In my opinion Thats not their business but I sent it anyway thinking I would finally get my appt for the buyback. Two weeks later I was finally approved and then was sent a calendar to make appt. The first available day was another month wait. Ridiculous! Then I found out that the buyback check will be five business days after the appt before depositing. So I asked if a car would be provided for me the five to seven days that I would be without transportation. No! Was the answer. Who does this? I dont have a second car. This whole thing has been very stressful. I will never buy a VW again. Good riddance.

I purchased a new 2010 Golf TDI a few years ago. My first VW ever after owning everything from Mercedes to Scion. Ive been impressed by the comfort, performance, and fuel mileage. My problem started about six months ago when, without warning, the car failed to start. Checked all typical causes with no success. After the cost and inconvenience of a tow to the dealership it sat there for several days. They were unable to find the cause of the problem as it started for them. They charged me $105 for the privilege of doing nothing.Fast forward to a few days ago, exactly the same symptoms as before, no start. Towed to the dealership an entire day wasted waiting. The car gets to the dealership and the mechanic goes to look at it and it starts.... Car is at dealership for several days again and the service manager eventually tells me they cant duplicate the problem and cant do anything more.By this point Im furious and call VW USA Customer Care, several phone calls later they essentially tell me the same thing, sorry cant help. So I have a car in the garage Im afraid to drive because of the likelihood of being stranded yet again. I will NEVER buy another VW product; Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, Ducati, etc.Heres the totally unacceptable response I received after posting to VW USA Facebook page: Were very sorry to hear about your experience, and we apologize that we were unable to meet your expectations. UNFAIR! I was an outstanding VW client and yet, VW was UNFAIR and DISCRIMINATORY to me! I leased a VW Jetta three years ago. I made all of my payments and have paid my vehicle down to its residual. I called VW credit and got a payoff and the payoff is my residual plus a $350 purchase option charge as my contract states. Upon wanting to trade my car in the facility, I called VW to verify the written payoff amount and to my great surprise, the payoff was $1,300 higher, therefore, reducing MY trade-in value by $1,300! I contracted for 45,000 miles but drove the car only 28,000 miles. Reminder... I paid for those miles with a lower residual and higher payments! My daughter bought a similar Jetta about the same time and sold it to the same dealership I was attempting to. VW credit honored her written payoff that was her residual value plus remaining payments not yet due, less unearned finance charges plus purchase option. No GREEDY increase! I am only asking VW credit to allow me to trade my lease in for what I have paid it down to. I feel I earned at least that by being an outstanding customer and making every payment perfectly on time. But VW HAS DISCRIMINATED AGAINST ME and not treated me fair like they did in my daughters case. Did VW treat her fair because she is an attorney? I plan on never doing business with VW in the future! Plus, Im sure if theyre doing this to me, theyve done it to others. So I am seriously considering starting a class action suit!

I had a really bad experience with my Tiguan bought few months ago from a first-hand. My car is 5 years old and only 50000 km. The car was working fine until it completely stopped in the middle of a busy street. Had to tow it via my insurance and I decided to bring it in the VW garage where the car has always been serviced (having all the previous bills). I informed the garage that my car was getting towed and if they could organize a replacement car. The answer was NO straight away. When I looked at all the car bills a replacement car had always been organized but not for me. I then asked them when will they be able to take care of the car and tell me what is the problem. The reply was, “We are extremely busy. We will have a look probably next week.” After checking their online appointment availability it was clearly showing full availability all over the week but they finally started to look at my car one week later! The diagnostic price being $220 which is just absurd when you know that I will have it fix there. Finally the fuel pump was faulty and had to be replaced for $1500 which I succeed to reduce to $1400. I contacted my previous VW dealership overseas that confirm the fact that this part shouldn’t be faulty at 50000 km and VW should cover the cost. I then decided to open a case with VW Australia. I finally took back my car after 10 days and paid the full price thinking that VW will contact me and listen to me. After explaining to the dealership that I opened a case with VW he became extremely upset and unhappy about my decision. I told him that I didn’t blame him but the car and asked him, “If you were me, would you expect this?“ The answer was, “Then if it was me I would just pay and move on!” I clearly understand then that this dealership doesn’t understand the meaning of customer service or empathy. Then I received the answer from my case which was “From time to time Volkswagen Australia will support our dealers in relation to servicing and repairs. This support is not discussed outside of our dealer network. Should the repairs to your vehicle be deemed as a manufacturing failure, the dealership will liaise with us directly on your behalf. Our support is not initiated at customers request. Please speak with the dealership regarding the diagnosis of your vehicle. They will contact us directly if needed. We will now close your inquiry.” At the beginning I was only upset by having this kind of issue with a low km car but after the experience at this dealership the full experience is a disaster. I am convinced that there is a big lack of consideration from VW Australia and especially from this dealership.

Volkswagen Credit OVERCHARGED me, its employees LIED to me and now wont remove a wrongly-made derogatory mark on my credit report despite earlier promises that it would. I have a lease through Volkswagen Credit, which was until recently on automatic payment. A few months ago I noticed Volkswagen charged nearly $150 more than my typical payment. Volkswagen never communicated it would charge this additional amount, so this was a complete surprise.I contacted VW credit and did not hear back for several days. So, I disputed the portion that was above and beyond my usual payment with my bank. I again contacted VW in writing and did not hear back. My bank confirmed with me that they tried multiple times to contact VW credit to work things out, which is typical for a dispute case, but were unable to get a hold of anyone and eventually the dispute was authorized by default. The next month I receive a bill stating I was past due in the amount of the typical payment plus the mystery charge. VW credit had still not contacted me about this transaction despite repeated followup. Finally I get someone on the phone who explained what the extra charge was for (a tax on leased vehicles specific to my city, which gets passed on to the consumer once per year; she couldnt tell me why I hadnt received this extra charge in the 2 previous years of leasing the vehicle).I tell her I will go ahead and pay the past due lease amount, since I did not dispute the charge to begin with, and I will read the law regarding taxation on leased vehicles (This is not typical in my state but unbeknownst to me at the time a handful of cities tax leased cars). During this conversation the representative assured me that since I paid the past due amount it would not show up on my credit report, and I have until the lease ends to pay the additional charge for the tax. After researching the surprise tax charge, I pay it within 30 days of the conversation and several months before the lease is set to end. A couple of months pass and I find out that despite paying the past due amount and the additional surprise charge, there is a derogatory mark on my credit report. I send a message to VW credit explaining the situation and letting them know that I was told very specifically that my credit would not be damaged by what happened. They reply, in so many words, that they do not plan to revoke the derogatory mark and they dont care what their employee said. First the diesel scandal and now a confirmation that Volkswagen doesnt care about their customers or doing what they say theyll do. Stay away from this company.

On June 26, 2015 I contacted VW customer care because the third window in my 2009 VW beetle convertible had a window regulator go out. My complaint number was **. My car had 30,427 miles on it at the time. I complained to them about my window regulators failing on the front and back drivers side and now the back passenger window. I had already fixed the front drivers side and was quoted around $1100 to fix the back window (which I could not afford), now the passenger window went out. On 7/1/15 they replied back that there was nothing they could do because my vehicle was outside the original 3-yr/36,000 mile warranty but they thanked me for contacting them. Well yesterday my front passenger window went out. Help Me!!!

I own a 2013 GTI and in November 2015 the water pump started leaking fluid. After taking the car to the VW dealership, I was informed there was a recall on the water pump and it was replaced. Fast forward to 2017; the water pump that was replaced in 2015 starting leaking (having found this out after taking the GTI back to VW). I informed the service department that water pump was replaced due to a recall. They preceded to locate when the water pump had been replaced. The service department contact Volkswagen checking to see they would pay for repairs since the water pump was replaced due to the recall...Volkswagen would only pay half of the bill. I contacted Volkswagen, stating that evidently the water pumps are faulty if only after 14 months after installation the water pump requires replacement again. The representative that was helping me, advised she contacted someone at Volkswagen and that is all they would do. I told her again... after only 14 months and the water pump is being replaced again, that tells me that Volkswagen water pumps are faulty!

When we signed up to be part of the VW buyback in the diesel scandal, we were told to keep making payments until our buyback and they would adjust our refund at the time of buy-back. At our appointment, we were told this was false and we would have to contact VW Credit for the rest of our refund. Then instead of giving us our paperwork, they walked us to the VW store manager and handed him our paperwork, and made us talk to him so he could try to sell us another VW, promising that if we did they would take good care of us. REALLY!! After VW had already lied to us on multiple accounts. Sadly, it didnt end there. We had more hoops to jump through to get the buy-back money credited to our account, even though they had requested all that information on the front end. However, we got the bulk in two or three days.We contacted VW Credit for the balance of our money but were told they couldnt give us the rest of our money until they received the payoff from VW. We kept calling for the status on our refund. We learned that VW sent a check (not electronic transfer) to Chase apparently through the mail who then mailed a check to VW Credit (technically two different companies). VW Credit said they had to wait TWO WEEKS to be sure the check from Chase cleared before they could mail us the rest of our refund! It was over a month after the buy-back before we got our money -- less the interest accrued while they used our money.

I have a 2011 Jetta Sportwagen, which for the most part has performed well. However recently Ive had a problem with my rear seat-belts seizing up and no longer working. I took them to the dealer and was charged $120 for them to look at it, tell me it would need replacement and I would have to pay $1200 because my car was no longer under warranty. I informed them I purchased the Platinum extended warranty and they said it was not covered. I contacted VW of America. After about a week I finally received a phone call and was told by a Jenny ** that she would see what she could do. A few days later she called back and said I was out of warranty, but they would supply the parts free of charge, but I would have to pay for installation. I told them I appreciated the gesture, but felt that a 3 year old vehicle should not have this issue. I wanted them to stand behind their product and replace the seat belts. I asked to speak to a supervisor and got the runaround, until she finally agreed to talk to her supervisor. Instead of a supervisor coming on the line after I sat waiting to dead air for 5 minutes or so, Jenny came back on and said SHE spoke to the supervisor and the supervisor agreed with her position. I told her I wanted to speak to the supervisor and I wanted the name of the person she spoke to. She kept trying to avoid the issue and then finally said she spoke to Sharonda. I asked to speak to her and was told she could only put my request in the system and someone else would contact me by Monday.

We purchased a 2012 VW CC in May of 2012. The car was used and had approx. 18,000 miles at time of purchase, currently the car has 72,000. We had routine oil changes done (more than required by VW) and service to our vehicle. In 2014 at 51,000 miles our 2012 VW CC needed a new engine. We took it to a VW dealer and had the engine replaced. At the time of engine replacement, it was RECOMMENDED not included in our engine replacement that a transmission oil change may be needed. This information was not pressing in its delivery as other additional services were provided and included at time of engine replacement this was not. At the time of engine replacement the mileage was 12,000 miles over the recommended oil transmission change which was at 40,000 miles. Our car is currently at a VW dealer who is stating negligence on our part after ONE missed oil transmission change. We were quoted $5,500 to replace transmission on a car that will be three years old to us May 27, 2015. What options exist? Smells like a lemon.

I brought my 2013 VW Jetta back to the VW dealership for the buyback on March the 24th. They were supposed to have a check ready for me when I delivered the vehicle. They apparently lost it. We received an initial letter saying further instructions for banking info for the direct deposit would follow. Nothing came. After several calls I get told (like others) the claim has been escalated. After another phone call to their claims department I was asked if I had a firewall set up on my email account. I said yes so they asked if I had a personal email account. I was informed it will take 7 to 10 business days to get a email to our gmail account.I called them today the 11th of April for status. We get told they have tried calling to give us information. We never received any such calls. They are liars which is proven by the mess they are in right now. They have now given us a Canadian fax number to send information to. I dont understand that. We now get told it will take another 7 to 10 business days to receive the funds which I highly doubt. It seems Volkswagen is doing everything they can to stall. We have several VWs in our company and after this I will not deal with them again. Completely incompetent company. They have my car and I have no money.

I bought a brand new 2019 Beetle and noticed it had a bunch of things wrong right off the bat. One of the speaker lights didnt work, the manual seat sinks after a few hours, and the A/C button doesnt work properly. I am 3.5 hours away from a Volkswagen dealership so it takes me 7 hours round trip to service it. I have to do 2 seven hour trips per service because they never fix it in one day. So far I have had to make that round trip 4 times and they still have not fixed the issues other than the speaker light. I dont have time or patience anymore to take many days off for nothing. The product is poorly put together and the service is HORRIBLE, at least at South Motors in Miami, FL.

2015 VW Golf - After receiving the safely recall in the mail, I spoke (after many times trying) with service at the dealer I bought the car from. I have not even reached 10,000, my first oil change. They told me to wait until then, and I was fine. Two days ago, a light came on saying that my gas cap wasnt on.....okay. That message went off, but today my engine light is on. I bought this car in September of this year, brand new, and already this is happening. Things do happen, but when I called with the concern that I might die in a car fire (leak could cause this according to the recall) they couldnt get me in until next Monday. Annoyed, I called back and suggested I drop off my car and take a loaner. Nope.... Customer service is terrible so far, at least at my dealership. On top of this, a car wash knocked off the drivers side back of my side view mirror, and a plastic runner on the seat already broke off. Im completely disappointed, despite the quick handling and nice interior. I just needed to vent.

In late 2008 my wife bought a 2004 Passat with a 1.8 turbo. All was good until about 70,000 miles then it all started to go bad. She had purchased the extended warranty so at first I was not worried and was under a false impression that the top end warranty package we paid dearly for will cover any issues we have with the masterpiece of German engineering. It started with the axles making a clicking noise when you were making a turn which being somewhat mechanically inclined I realized it would be the CV joints failing.I had my wife drop the car off at the dealer, well two and a half days later they call and let her know that due to the fact that the axle boots were torn and they where a wearable part that were not serviced regularly and it would not be covered under warranty. (So apparently you are supposed to pull axles every so often to change boots?) She inquired on the cost of replacement to be told it would cost $1100.00. I told her to call and tell them to do nothing and we will pick up the car. I was able to purchase the axles for $52.00 each and replace them in about 1 1/2 hours. So I ask, Where is $1100.00 justified? And how many people have been screwed by their VW service center? Problem 2 we had was the power windows, The driver side front and rear. Not at the same time but both had issues, The rear had a pin fall out which attached the window to the frame of the power mechanism. The front had plastic clips that broke which caused the window to fall into the door and at a later date the window motor failed. During this trip to the shop I inquired about the ignition coil recall, To my surprise they covered it all under warranty. Problem 3 was a temp sensor which caused the engine light to come on which once again to my surprise they covered under the warranty.Problem 4 was the engine oil pressure warning light and as you have read or will read in other complaints on this page due to the fact it is a used car with no paper work on servicing prior to my owning it I to am out of luck. Not to mention it took 3 days for them to get back to us. I myself use nothing but synthetic oil in all my vehicles and maintain them regularly. I was told by the dealer that the car has engine sludge and it would cost between $1500 and $7000 to make repairs. So once again I told my wife to not let them do anything to the car and have it towed to my in-laws house where he has a car lift in his shop.We pulled the suspension loose and back to access the oil pan and then pulled the pan. The pan and lower half of the motor was spotless except for what appeared to be a mixture of gasket and sealant particles built up around the oil pick up tube. That leads me to believe that the story of oil sludge is a crock of crap they came up with to cover their own ** due to faulty workmanship. We cleaned the pan and pulled the valve cover to check the top end and the results where the same, SPOTLESS, Imagine that. So anyone who is told they have sludge you should question the truth of that statement.Problem 5 was the instrument panel information center fading out on hot days to the point where you could not see any information displayed. At that time the driver side mirror glass had also fell out while driving on the freeway. I was so furious with the VW dealer that I did not want take it to them to see if they would deny repairs. My wife took it in and to my surprise once again they actually covered it. Oh, not the mirror it was not covered. Problem 6 as the mileage limit of 80,000 approached the check engine light came on again so I had my wife take it in. From this trip we received no explanation to why the light came on and where told it would be reset. However we did receive a list of items from their million point inspection or whatever they call it which totaled over $4000.00 and that the warranty would cover about a $1000.00 of it if we decided to have the work done. I requested an email of work to be done which was sent to me about a day after I requested it. Now for the problem with the quote, I apparently needed a new battery which would be ok but I had replaced it no more than 2 weeks prior to taking it in. The report stated I needed to have 2 of the coils replaced even though they had supposedly replaced them during a previous trip. What am I supposed to think about the rest of the list after reading about things that were recently replaced, Anyways the list went on and on more than I would like to explain. As of now the car is sitting in the driveway with a serious misfire and the code I pulled out of it was PO300. This is a random misfire code which does not give a fix for the problem it just gives a list of possible necessary repairs. If I will have to make all repairs on this list it could cost $1300,00 to $1800.00 which I will have to do, Due to the mileage expiration of the warranty. PLEASE DO NOT BUY A VW OF ANY KIND POST 1970. YOU WILL BE VERY SORRY!!!

The car itself is fine, the company is terrible. VW Credit continually screws up. It takes numerous contacts to get them to fix anything. Then they will ruin your credit rating when they mess up. Their automated system suddenly got screwed up and did not take 2 lease payments out after months with no problem. I was never notified and found out from Credit Karma when they reported it as 60 days of missed payments to the credit bureaus. Ive spent literally hours over the last 6 months on the phone, copying documents, faxing, mailing and following up trying to get them to fix their mistake. It tanked my credit rating causing me to be unable to refinance my home and lower my mortgage payment. This is just the worst of it as they have repeatedly messed up this account. VW Credit has been an absolute nightmare to deal with and Ive lost hours of my life trying to get them to fix their mistakes. Never, never, never again would I have a car loan or lease with VW Credit.

Unfortunately, in only about a month after a complete failure and replacement of the Turbocharger unit, an even more dramatic failure occurred. After an erratic idle, the vehicle EPC light came on, followed by a loud metallic noise coming from the engine. We immediately stopped the vehicle and arranged towing. According to the authorized Volkswagen service technician, the timing chain tensioner has completely failed and has caused a damage to the cylinder head. Total cost to replace cylinder head, timing chain, tensioner, parts, labor = more than $5,500.00.It is worth noting that we have been more than diligent in making sure that the vehicle has always been serviced according to the maintenance schedule. When we bought the vehicle new, we had purchased the extended 7-year premium warranty extension from Fidelity (which just expired earlier this year). After spending close to $2,000 out-of-pocket to repair the turbo unit, we are now faced with another $5,500+ bill. A quick search on the internet reveals that there are numerous early failures of the timing chain tensioner on the 2.0T engine, including lawsuits and a pending class-action investigation. It is almost not an overstatement to say that we have experienced nothing but grief with this vehicle. Everything from complete engine failure, turbocharger failure, all-wheel drive differential failure, fuel pump failure, air intake failure, throttle body failure, sunshade failure to a check engine light coming on every 6 months like clockwork, requiring random wild goose chase fixes such as clean up the air intake gum...VW has definitely a huge amount of responsibility here. It is obvious that all these failures are way above the average normal expectations that a car owner should have from a 2009 vehicle that has been serviced according to the schedule. Faulty parts, skipped due-diligence in design and test or whatever other reason, it is clear that VW has ONCE AGAIN proven to U.S. consumers that their products are of inferior quality and therefore their advertising is deceiving and misleading and their products overpriced. The case of the timing chain tensioner is a great example of how severe a failure can be. This goes beyond the scope of unnecessary burden or inconvenience. This a dangerous failure as when it happens it can result in complete immobilization of the vehicle causing a great threat to the safety of the driver, passengers and other vehicles on the road.

08/10/2019 Volkswagen and Audi Poor REVIEWS, 2 Volkswagen products experiences at early miles, 57,000 to 62.494 2012 Audi A4 and 2014 Volkswagen GTI, known problems by Volkswagen. I had a 2012 Audi A4 with engine light that would come on after 56,000 miles. I brought it in to 3 dealerships in Louisiana. They would tell me they didn’t understand because diagnostics says car is running smoothly. I told them, That’s fine if it’s running smoothly, but selling a car with an engine light is a loss for me, because who wants to buy a car with an engine light. They all said, It must be something intermittent. Lafayette, LA, Baton Rouge, LA, New Orleans, LA. I finally brought it to a dealership in Orlando Florida. I told them to impress me. Audi was good for a next car by fixing my issue. They said, Give us a few days to work on. I did. They charged $989. It was good for 2 months and light back on. Sold that vehicle. The problem was an intermittent overproduction of fuel that no one could fix for good.2014 Volkswagen GTI, guess what, light came on on this one at same mileage, 57,000 to 62,494. I read up on the engine light regarding P2015 code, which is an intake manifold problem, that Volkswagen recognized as a problem, but instead of recalling, they decided to extend warranty to 120,000 miles, but only as a lottery picking of VIN numbers, so if your VIN wasn’t on list, and you had the same problem, you had to pay for this poor quality intake manifold problem. They would clean if only cleaning, $1200. If it involved the worse case, it took changing manifold, of which that would be, needless to say, much more, mind you at 60,000 miles this expensive cost. So yeah, look forward to this much expenses at this early in the life of the vehicle. So one thing is knowing Volkswagen recognized the problem, but treated fix as only some would qualify for extended warranty, and if you experience problem and your VIN wasn’t on list you have to pay. You call Volkswagen Headquarters or customer care, because if there is a problem, and manufacturer is willing to work with you and understand extenuating circumstances, explaining you had two of their products, and they make things good and go the distance, then that’s good, because all you want is a fix/corrective action; however, when you speak to dealership and report to headquarters, and all they want to quote to you is that it’s out of their hands, that your car’s VIN # is not lucky enough to be on the list (lottery/pot luck), ... so you’re stuck with a young car with enormous expenses, after the expensive purchase was not long ago.Yes, bad vehicles of Volkswagen, 2012 Audi A4, and 2014 Volkswagen GTI, both at range of 56,000 to 62,494 miles, you are left up the creek without a paddle and large loss of money. One never was fixed and had to sell at lesser amount because of engine light no one could do anything about. The other is just extreme expense for cleaning or replacement of intake manifold that company recognizes problems, but handles whether warranty is extended or not based on whether your car’s VIN was included, like on a lottery. Thank you. Dwayne **.

At the same time the door trim came loose on drivers side and needed to be replaced. Tires were cupped due to suspension issues at 10k and needed to be replaced + another alignment. I have no idea that the headlamp right side bulb was also blinking like strobe light on or off prior to fire. Im baffled. Im lucky it was snowing. I used it to cool down the crackling in the car as I aired it out. What a way to end 2012. Its under investigation. I called fire station and police the next day. I better get a refund of some sort if totaled as I paid so much for it. It had 80,000 miles. I called to report to State MSV Safety and also VW of America. Happy New Year, yeah right.

Im very frustrated at the fact that Im driving a car that has a potential safety issue and I usually have my 5 yr and 13 month old children with me. I bought the VW Tiguan because it was rated #1 for safety when my older child was 1 yr old. My car has had many problems and have spent 1000s of dollars in repair. But what has got me furious is the fact that on the morning of Friday July 25 2014. As I was leaving my parents house from dropping my kids and getting ready to go to work I started my car but the Power steering was gone completely. The Tiguan started and I could drive forward and back but the steering wheel did not move at all as if it was locked but it was not and the power steering failure light came on in the dashboard. The Tiguan is almost 4 yrs old and about 73 thousand miles on it. But I do not think age is the issue with this problem, its just a design flaw from VW.This problem has me very concern because what if I was driving on the freeway and the power steering failed then? I could only imagine what could have happen. What if my children were with me? This problem is unacceptable, inexcusable and life threatening. This is a very serious safety issue with the Tiguan. My Tiguan was towed to a VW dealerships car shop and they told me there that they never heard of such problem with the Tiguan models. I search on the web and it turns out there are several hundreds 2009-2011 VW Tiguans owners that have had that same problem, and to fix the Tiguan would be $2,045 dollars. The service rep suggested I call VW customer service. I did call and they were very nice and told me that they were going to see if they could help me with the repair. Next day I get a call from them and told me that they were not going to do anything about it because my Tiguan had more than 70,000 miles and was way out of warranty. This power steering problem has nothing to do with the Tiguans age. Other people that have had this exact same experience and only had their Tiguan for 2 months with 1,800 miles on and the problem keeps reoccurring! Warranty or no warranty this is a design flaw and should be covered by VW. Also in my opinion this is an issue worth a major recall but so far VW seems to be waiting for the first deaths to occur before they will react. There is always possibility that in traffic, the power steering really could go any moment.Something should be done about it before an innocent family dies!!! Help!!!! In the meantime I will tell my story in the social media to people in the news if I can, in the radio if I can, report it to BBB, and make consumer reports anywhere I can!! etc. I am now very scared to be driving the Tiguan. Its not safe and I dont feel safe! Other people with the same problem have had the problem reoccurring after being fixed. VW has lost a loyal customer forever!!

Dont buy a Volkswagen. I made the mistake. And Im here to prevent you from doing the same thing. Heres the deal. Volkswagen is a dishonest company. Dieselgate proved that. Some of the companys former executives are now in prison. Theyre literally convicted criminals. But the issue is beyond Dieselgate. Volkswagens tend to feature some really nice German engineering with some fatal flaws that make the cost of ownership rise astronomically. Volkswagen Group of America takes no responsibility for any of this and instead only responds when it faces a class action lawsuit. I purchased a Volkswagen CC in 2010. It was an amazing, graceful vehicle for the first four years. And then became -- and remains -- like a star athlete who got injured early in his career, turning into a shell of what he once was. My Volkswagen CC is the Penny Hardaway of cars.First there was the carbon buildup issue with the intake manifold. Long story short, the intake manifold has a design flaw. It results in the buildup of carbon deposits. This is a common issue with VW and Audi direct injection engines. VW will lie to you about why it happens, blaming the type of gas you use. Cleanup costs $500-$800 to clean. Two VW dealerships lied to me about aspects of the issue, telling me two different stories. VW Group of America refused to pay for the cleaning. Ultimately, I had to get it cleaned by a non-dealer specialist. And now my turbo is failing, putting the longevity of the engine at risk. VW Group of America refuses to cover the replacement of the turbo, though the dealer technician said hes seen a lot of turbos fail.Ive had a host of other problems with this car. Leaks, replacements of shocks and struts, multiple battery failures, and frequent flat tires. Theres a class action lawsuit alleging that the suspension of the car has a design flaw, causing premature tire wear. Thats happened with me. Ive had to buy a total of 12 additional new tires for this car. Ive had to replace the battery three times. Ive had to get the intake manifold cleaned. Now I have to get the turbo replaced.I have a spreadsheet detailing my maintenance and repair costs, toiling in roughly $10,000 over eight years. There are other repairs various dealers have recommended that I did not get done or chose cheaper alternatives. Altogether, they would have totaled more than $6000 more. Every dealer comes with their own set of $2000 recommended repairs.Anyway, theres a clear pattern: these problems Ive experienced are mainly based on VW design flaws. The fuel pump issue (for which theres a recall) causes the battery to drain. The suspension design flaw (for which theres a class action lawsuit) causes the tires to wear quickly. The direct injection engine causes carbon buildup on the intake manifold. And my guess is theres some fatal flaw with the turbos. VW is a company that only responds to these issues when facing legal action. Thats why their execs are in jail. Dont make the mistake I made. Dont buy a Volkswagen. They continue to deceive after Dieselgate and should be out of business. Unethical people.

I received codes P0087 & P2293 and traced them down to a known, high-pressure fuel pump/improperly hardened camshaft problem (VW Technical Bulletin **). As a result of the failures I now have catastrophic foreign object damage (metal shavings) throughout my oil system caused by lathing to the camshaft and irreparable damage to cylinder head due to unbalanced camshaft rotation (known problem excessive wear of intake camshaft lobe Ref: VW Technical Bulletin **).Prestige Imports of Pleasantville, NY opened the engine and immediately called to tell me I needed a new engine. All I had to do was show oil change receipts for the life of the car and Id receive a new engine free of charge. However, living in the real world and being a member of the US Marines, Ive lived all over the US and had my oil serviced by the lowest bidder (often times myself). I was not going to be able to prove my oil changes (they were current though). At this point I called VW USA to open the lines of communication. I was told by VW USA not to worry, they’d look into the problem and get a better answer to the extent of the damage. After they talk to the dealer they will call back and explain the extent of the damage.A few days later the dealership called to say the car is finished. Finished? Please define finished because the last word I received was that I needed a new engine. VW USA was supposed to call you (the dealer), get a better idea of the problem & call me back so I can choose a course of action. The dealer informed me they replaced the timing belt, timing belt tensioner, and water pump. Im responsible for those repairs for about 1100 dollars. The repairs they did under warranty were a camshaft, cam follower, and high-pressure fuel pump. Ignore for minute that they have to remove the timing belt anyway to replace the camshaft. There should have been almost zero labor involved in that repair.Heres the issue. 1. I involved VW USA early and clarify the exact extent of the damage. They did not. They failed to add clarity and in fact, made matters more confusing. 2. Repairing an engine with metal shaving in the oil is a waste of money at a minimum. To be blunt it is closer to unethical and fraudulent. 3. Repairing a timing belt on an interference engine with cylinder head damage is unethical and fraudulent. 4. Calling a customer to say you need a new engine and then reversing course and completing 1100 dollars after I advise I cannot provide oil records is unethical and fraudulent. 5. VW USA taking a month to try to untangle and investigate the problem only to finally state that they are not helping is fraudulent and unethical. This issue could have not been handled worse. 1100 dollars of repairs were administered to a vehicle that is damaged. VW knows the 2.0-liter engine is an interference engine and timing is critical. VW acknowledged camshaft issues in Technical Bulletin ** but somehow wants to blame cam collateral wear on oil changes. There are metal particles in the engine oil system from acknowledged cam problems, which act like sandpaper when they circulate. Finally, there was zero productive communication with VW USA. The only communication was nightly calls from customer service agents who know nothing of automobiles or engines stating theyre still working on it or so and so wasnt there because of the holidays etc. Horrible, horrible experience. Criminal, negligent, fraudulent and to boot, to a service member and veteran.

I have had all kinds of things to go wrong. My VR6 CC runs great but the engine light will come on and I take it to the Volkswagen dealership. Every time they tell me that a sensor has gone bad it cost me around $400 dollars every time. I have had 2 fuel sensor replaced. Now I find out that I have been over filling my tank making the service light to come on. Now I stop putting extra fuel in and the service light went off. Now my brake light is on. I called the service department and they told me that it is probably a sensor. I also have a turning light on. I replaced the light but it still does not work. I was told I would have to hook it up to the computer to find out why it is not working. When I first purchased the car I had 2 front wheel bearings to go out under 36k miles. The dealership told me that it was not the wheel bearings. At 40k they check it out and told me that it was bad wheel bearing. This was after the warranty ran out. The wheel bearings were $250 each and labor was $250 each. I finally got them to cover the parts but I was responsible for the labor. If they would have fixed the problem when I told them it would have all been covered. It seems every time I get a call or get the oil changed a light comes on. I have always wondered if they have a way to turn lights on. I also had to change out the wiring harness for the trunk at 50k and it was over $500.

I surrendered my Volkswagen Jetta for the diesel recall on 1/18/17 and Volkswagen has not paid off my lender as of todays date. I continue to make my payments to keep my account current and preserve my credit, even though I have signed power of attorney over to Volkswagen. I am not making any progress with Volkswagen. Its a different story every time I call them. I need assistance please. I have every phone call and correspondence written down for verification. I have received my final offer, and Volkswagen has admitted over the phone they made a mistake on the payoff amount, even though they are supposed to contact my lender (Santander) to verify the payoff amount.

Occasionally when I take off from a stop and have to suddenly stop or back off the gas and then try to go, the car seems to lag or is suspended between gears (1st & 2nd). Its a lag of about 3 to 4 seconds. The car wont do anything, like its trying to decide what gear to be in. Can be a problem if in the middle of an intersection with traffic coming at you and the car just sits. Have reported to a couple of VW dealers and one said yes he can duplicate the problem but cant do anything to fix it. I have also talk with other Touareg owners with the same issue.

After three years and 54,000 miles, the automatic DSG transmission failed on my 2009 VW GTI. Over the past three years, I complained to the service department (North Penn Imports) about the problems I was having. Each time, they stated that it was operating normally. I have each case documented. Now that the transmission has failed completely (does not go into gear or shift), the dealer and Volkswagen have denied my warranty due to the fact that I have some aftermarket parts on my car and that these parts caused the failure. They have offered no explanation of how they caused the failure. As of now, they are replacing the transmission at my cost of over $3000.
