This Weird Scottish Hummer EV Is Coming To America

We've talked briefly about Scottish EV startup Munro Vehicles before on CarBuzz. Back then, the small company wasn't even called Munro Vehicles yet. Things have changed, including where the company will ship its models. The startup is focused on bringing its take on the off-road electric vehicle to the US. The EV, clearly inspired by off-roaders like the GMC Hummer EV and the Land Rover Defender, will come to America after the signing of a new sales agreement. rnThe company will work with Glasgow-based EV leasing company Wyre, which will have exclusive rights for the sale and distribution of the Munro 4x4 EV here in the US. "We see the Munro 4x4 EV as a serious and compelling opportunity for a wide range of our customers across the USA. One which will see us go from an initial order book of 50 vehicles next year to around 2,500 in 2025," said Wyre's managing director Rebecca Hansen. "This is an important win for us. The Munro is a great multi-purpose vehicle, and one that has a great future. We are delighted we have the opportunity to make it a big success in the United States. Just as important, it is a further step in establishing Wyre as market leaders." Over in Scotland, this truck is primarily marketed to buyers as a tough and no-nonsense EV SUV that'll haul both your gear and your crew across any terrain you might encounter. Munro Vehicles says that this vehicle ought to have special appeal to farmers as a result, who have long relied on the Defender to do much the same thing. However, in America, the intent will be a bit different. "One particular customer market we have/are targeting in the States is the huge electric utility sector where companies need to show their customers that they are taking the provision of EVs seriously in their own fleets," Hansen said. However, the company is still in its infancy and looking to enter one of America's hottest segments, especially at this price point. An MSRP of $87,843 is a whole lot of money, especially for what Munro markets as a stripped-out, off-roader. Still, Munro stands a chance, as everyone heads for an electric future. Who's to say if Munro Vehicles has a chance versus Rivian, Tesla, or Ford to claim a tiny bit of market share in the EV off-roader game? For now, we'll have to see what kind of interest the company can command stateside once its units start getting over here. Munro has planned to release 50 vehicles this year, with 25 as LHD models.

My parents bought a used 08 Acadia SLT in the spring of 2010 and worked pretty well up until now. But ever since we got it, nobody can figure out why the tire pressure sensors give the wrong indicators for the wrong tires. For example, if the front passenger was low, it would indicated the rear driver is low. Over the summer, we were driving home from Michigan to New York and about 30 minutes into the trip, the radio just cut out. Now, it sometimes works and sometimes doesnt but it only seems to come on in very low temperatures. It worked for about 15 minutes this morning and then cut out. From what Ive found, its something with the amplifier. Ours has the Bose sound system and my mom does blast her music sometimes. I dont know if the amp is fried or if its a fuse in the amp or something and speaking of fuses, Id love to meet the moron who decided where one of the fuse boxes went. They placed it under the glove box where its hard to reach. Why couldnt they just put them in with the other fuses under the damn hood?!I wouldnt spend money on one of these pieces of garbage. You would be better off buying something else. Also, the traction on these things sucks. You just barely touch the gas and it spins your tires. Driving the FWD models is like driving a giant sled. I have a 2005 Mini Cooper and its like a tank in the snow and I have all season tires on that thing.

First and foremost, if you are going to buy this vehicle make sure it is still under the 36k mileage. If it is not, GMC and all of your local dealers will do absolutely nothing. Not only nothing, they will charge you a service fee to do nothing. 2 issues that we are having with this vehicle. #1 Put in park to turn off... Shifting assembly is junk. Most go bad before the 36k warranty... Mine went bad at literally 37229. #2 The wheels are delaminating. The previous owner must have been lazy because over 10% of all 4 wheels are delaminating. I made a huge incorrect assumption that GMC would cover a vehicle that is barely a year old. Again, I was incorrect. Never again GMC. Will never again buy a piece of junk. I will stick to the foreign makers from now on. You have seen your last dollar from me. Run away people. Crappy customer service.

We bought my 2008 GMC Acadia brand new! When I had 30,000 miles on it, my transmission went out! I got it back and 1 day later, the Camshaft went out! It was in the shop for months! At 72,000 miles on it and 6 years, my engine is SHOT. $7,500 for a new one! The engine went out 2 weeks after my warranty was up! GM refused to do anything about it and I was never offered an extended warranty! So the repairs will be 3/4 what the car is worth! I called GM and explained the situation and the generous jerks said all they would do for me was give me $2,000 toward a new car! I talked to dealership and they explained it wasnt just a GM loyalty bonus, it was all they would give me for my trade in!! So I pay $43,000 for vehicle and 6 years later, its only worth $2,000!! Blue book is $11,000!! All I wanted was to at least get 1/2 of the blue book! However, that was not even considered! We have bought 8 GM vehicles brand new totaling $275,000! My dad retired from GM so I have always been loyal!! Never had any issues with our 4 Avalanches, Montana Van, Camaro, and Cavalier! The Acadia was my favorite (at first). I loved the style and room in it, but Ive seriously been so disappointed by all the issues - engine, camshaft, transmission, no radio or sounds because amp is fried! Front end making awful noises which again, they refused to fix! I will be purchasing another GM (dads discount is too good to turn down) and I hope and pray it will be alright because like I said, this Acadia is the only one weve had trouble with! I hope this helps someone! Make sure if you buy an Acadia to take it in at 36,000 and have a diagnostic run even if you dont notice anything and again before the 100,000 or 5 years!

For the past 3 months my check engine light continues to come on. I have had a complete tune up, with all spark plugs being replaced, air filters replaced, etc. Always keep levels checked and changed when needed. No real problems with the vehicle (2011 GMC Acadia) until now. Check engine light comes on repeatedly, even after work is completed. I have taken this vehicle to 3 shops for a diagnostic check. Only two had the same diagnostic results. Mostly timing chain issues, possible stretched. I dont understand why this is happening at this point. Has there been any recalls regarding this matter. I havent seen or heard of any recall.

I own 2009 GMC Acadia SLT-1. This is the nicest vehicle I have ever owned so I have strived to take really good care of it. For the last few months, I have been experiencing an issue that seemingly cannot be resolved! When I am driving on the highway and I achieve the speed want to go and let off the gas and the vehicle would coast, it starts what I refer to as missing. It has not given off any codes and I have had it checked out by two mechanics. The problem is getting worse! Without a code and the lack of anything obvious, it cannot be resolved. The last time I took it in, the transmission fluid was low, which makes me wonder with all of the posts on transmissions going bad in Acadias, if it could be my transmission. I do not know what to do and am writing this in hopes someone has had similar issues and can share your experience and maybe your end result! HELP!!!

I have had this 2009 Acadia car into the dealer many time for many recalls. One got it back and it left me on the side of the road. Now it has a bad timing chain. And the dealer tells me I was low on oil, sends me home. Light back on and timing is the problem. They will not fix it said its the motor. I bought a extended warranty that covers this. GMC GM still will not fix it. I am a mother of 3 and this is got to be the lowest thing a car company can not stand by.

This is to update my review published 4/14/15 with great resolution. Thanks to General Motors recall on the Acadia Wave Plate issue I submitted a claim and after a few weeks with some negotiation I got a settlement last week that covered the cost incurred from having to replace the transmission.Thank You GM for the prompt response in my claim! This restores faith in your commitment to quality. I am very happy presently with this recall solution. I may soon be in the market for another vehicle and will again check with GM for possibly another purchase. I know there is still room to improve overall quality and reliability of products so I am changing my rating from 2 stars to 4.Regards, LB

My GMC Acadia has really turned into a piece of crap of a vehicle backed up by a piece of crap company, GM. I purchased a 2011 GMC and immediately had issues. The gas gauge is defective, power steering makes noises, radio works intermittently, and water leaks into the vehicle from the rear sun roof. GM refuses to take responsibility or assist me with repairs. The attitude I have received has been miserable. DO NOT BUY GM products.

I owned a 2011 GMC Acadia for almost 5 years now with a 23500 miles on it, hardly used it due to my line of work which is always away from home. Multiple recall been corrected in which I think its ridiculous at first place, but I said, no worries, its being corrected in a way, thats good! Last week I went to San Diego to visit a friend with my family, driving there with no issue. When we head back home en-route to 101 freeway, it was drizzling a little bit that time, suddenly it chimed 3 or 4 times and wondering whats wrong, my instrument panel indicated stability track light on, reduce engine power and applied brakes, felt like I was drifting a little bit from a different lane, and loss engine power, kind a bit worry, but managed to pulled into the shoulder lane. As per the troubleshooting, turn off engine and wait for 15 seconds and start engine, nice! Stability light off with no issue except engine light on now. Managed to drive again for an hour just to head back home. Brought my Acadia to GMC service department to see whats wrong with the engine. It put out a fault code of P0700 and P182E pertaining to manual shift lever inside transmission shortening out. For 23500 miles I wouldnt expect that, and my warranty just expired last July, it cost me $1200 for that issue. Now, Im heading to Texas driving my Acadia, makes me wonder what discrepancy will my Acadia will call out.

Since August 2010, have replaced fuel tank, replaced radiator, replaced #1 ignition coil. #4 cylinder missing, engine has no acceleration power and service engine soon light flashes. Cause: fuel block connector. Locate misfire on 3 cylinders. No power at injectors 2, 4, 6. Replace cat converter, replaced other cat converter, Intermittent misfire under hard accel on #2 cyl. Leaking #2 coil and fouled #2 spark plug. Premature timing chain, Timing chain slippage, Reported problems with cylinder #4. At this point seems all cylinders/spark plugs have been rotated, replaced. Would like to go 6 months + without recurring problems.

Bought a 2009 gmc Acadia in 2010 that was supposed to be an execs vehicle. Paid over 50k when said and done. We have 17 pages of repairs already. Steering was replaced 5 times and is making the same clicking but gmc feels I should pay to fix it. Whenever we gas up the truck wont start. They force you to do all kinds of bs maintenance to keep your warranty which ironically never covers the issues or parts needed. In addition there have been at least 9 recalls in 5 years. Will never buy a Gmc vehicle again.

I purchased a 2009 GMC Acadia in July of 2011. Since then, I have had major issues with the car. I took it in to get serviced at GMC Baytown where I purchased the vehicle because it was running rough. When I got up to 70, the car would surge and vibrate to the point that I thought it was going to completely die on me. They fixed the car after 3 weeks of having a rental and poor communication from them. I got the car back and it was not fixed; it did the same thing before I even got it home. I live in Hamshire, Texas, so I was driving over 30 minutes to the dealership for service. I again took the car back and they changed more parts and again, it was not fixed. After trip 4, they finally realized it was the engine coils. After so many problems, I asked the dealership to buy back the vehicle for my current balance and they were very rude and talked horrible to me. The owner even said I was lying about his salesman Scott not calling me back after 10-15 phone calls about a new vehicle. It was so bad my husband went to get the vehicle and made them apologize to me. The salesman Scott did apologize and stated, Im sorry for not calling you. I have no excuses why I didnt call. I know you are aggravated about your air conditioner being out and that is understandable. He didnt even know why my car was even there. Then the next day, my power steering went out and they refused to look at it and told me to take it to another dealership because nothing they worked on could have affected it. I took my vehicle to another mechanic and we found that a piece they had worked on was broken and replaced it with a drinking straw! My car is still broken.

I purchased a 2012 GMC Acadia from the used vehicle department of Cole McNatt GMC in Gainesville, Texas. Shortly after purchase of the Vehicle, I noticed that the Vehicle began shaking while shifting. This led me to believe that there was an issue with the Vehicle’s transmission, which was confirmed by my mechanic.Below is a timeline of my correspondence with GM: Initial call to GM on 11/20. Case number given #**. Spoke to representative and told him there was a transmission issue diagnosed by my mechanic. Watson Transmission in Denison, TX that could potentially be covered under warranty. GM Representative indicated that there could be coverage assistance if issue was similar to Wave Plate and recall transmission for similar model vehicles. GM Representative also indicated that GM would likely provide financial assistance due to the fact that the vehicle was under the mileage limit for warranty coverage (despite being a few months out of the time limit). Was advised by Representative to bring vehicle into a GMC dealership.11/21 brought vehicle to my local GM dealership, Parkway Buick GMC in Sherman, Texas. A week later I was told the vehicle transmission would need to inspected in order to identify issue to submit to GM for coverage. I was informed that the charge to disassemble and diagnose the issue, $1,000, would be my responsibility until coverage was determined; the dealership. Based on the statement from the GM Representative that GM would likely provide financial assistance, I decided to proceed. 12/6 Dealership indicated the transmission would need to be replaced and GM had denied warranty claim. I contacted GM and was told the claim was denied but a new ticket number was given to escalate to Senior Analyst. Senior Analyst determined no coverage.Parkway Buick GMC gave me the option of paying to have the Vehicle put back together (in addition to the $1,000 we had to pay to take it apart) or replacing the transmission altogether. As it did not seem prudent (financially or practically) to reassemble the Vehicle with a known transmission issue, I elected to have Parkway Buick GMC replace the transmission (at a cost of nearly $5,000). Had I not been encouraged by the GM Representative that assistance would be provided, I would not have proceeded, at that time, with the initial disassembly and inspection, as my family was not prepared for the financial burden of transmission replacement.After researching this specific problem, I have learned that this is a common issue with the Acadia model vehicle. I believe that the failure of the Vehicle’s transmission was a manufacturing flaw. And, considering that the Vehicle was just a few months out of warranty but under the warranty mileage limit at the time the issue was discovered, I appealed, asking that GM cover in full or share with me the cost of this repair. My appeal was denied.GM’s reputation and marketing emphasize its vehicles’ durability, reliability, and safety and care for customer satisfaction. I have many family and friends that have owned GM vehicles and, before this incident, I had no reason to believe that the company would deny coverage for repair of an issue with one of its vehicles. I was, honestly, very surprised that GM not only denied my claim but also declined to offer assistance with the $1,000 charge for diagnosis, a step that was taken at the suggestion of one of its dealerships. Especially considering that I had been told by the GM representative that there would likely be assistance.I anticipate that in a few years, I will need to upgrade to newer vehicle, but now I hesitate to ever purchase another GM vehicle. I am GM’s target customer, the father of a young family that is growing and will have a need for multiple safe and dependable vehicles for years to come. GM did not stand behind its product and cover the cost of this repair.

General Motors executives should have their family members drive this piece of crap and experience what the rest of the Acadia owners experience: Timing chains replaced at 40,000 miles, Steering assembly replaced at 55,000 miles, transmission failure at 120,000 mile, wiring harness fire, and now the transmission failure again at 173,000 miles. While the timing chains and the first transmission were repaired at GMs dollar (goodwill), they called it even though they had a recall on the transmission after mine was repaired. They now want $1620 to repair a fouled solenoid valve in the transmission. Its fouled with oil, in a closed system, that while it could have been caused from when they repaired the transmission the first time, they state the high mileage is the cause??? Its a Closed System; they repaired and fouled ports in a solenoid valve. This is another reason I will not in my lifetime buy any General Motors product again. They do not stand behind their products, let alone have family members drive them.

Then recall notice after we paid $200 to repair electronic system. Windshield wipers failed and had to be repaired. Now air conditioner needs to be replaced. Stay FAR, FAR away from ACADIAs. Dont purchase. Money Pit!!!

I purchased my 2009 GMC Acadia from the dealer 15 mos ago. There was no problems until my headlights started flickering. I carried to the dealership to find out my HID lights have melted the casing so I had to get a headlight assembly that which cost $1373.04. They said that it was not covered under the warranty. It shouldve been electrical. Why? Its HID lights get hot enough to melt the casing. There should be a recall on those.

I bought a 2008 Acadia a few years ago. I will never buy another GMC. When we first brought it home it had to go back so the whole rear end clutch system could be replaced. Then they said the tires had to be the same tread so the stabilitrak light would stay off and it still comes on all the time, and says service brake system until I add brake fluid then light goes off for a while. It makes a loud grinding noise on left turns and the dealership dont know why. Seems to me they dont have anyone that can figure out these Acadias and then I had no power steering and the power steering pump had to be replaced and when I picked it up from shop the shocks and struts broke. They told me the seals gave way after being on lift for six and half hours so I got stuck paying 600 for that. Now it keeps telling me transmission over heating let idle. And when I get gas it dont wanna start. I just give up and will be trying to trade in very soon.

We too had to put in a new transmission as well as problem with steering wheel and stability track. We have put in close to $7,000 into this car that we paid $42,000 custom ordered. I thought at first it was because ours was being built when GMC went on strike but after reading comments thats not the case. Now we just find out that the piston is shot and we now have to put in a new engine with not even having 200,000 miles on it! This is crazy. GMC should be reimbursing us for this cost. The sad thing is I love the style and comfort of it just not all the extra money we have had to put into it due to GMC poor engineering. Please if anyone knows of a class action suit against them for this let me know. This is not right! They know they have a problem with it and wont make things right.

I own a 2008 Acadia that note had 85,000 miles on it. My transmission went due to a bracket that broke, of course my warranty has expired, but prior to its expiration I had it in the garage twice, not even a GMC certified transmission expert could find a problem. Of course you are not going to find a problem, unless you open the casing and see that there is a cracked bracket causing mischief that is eventually going to cause a total loss. Im a little fortunate because the dealer I bought it from help pay for half, but thanks GM. Nothing like spending money you dont have before Christmas.

I bought this GMC Acadia in August of 2008. Brand new. I followed all scheduled maintenance recommendations set by GMC. At 78,000 miles while driving down the interstate, a hole blows in the side of the transmission stranding my wife and two young sons 3 hours from home. Naturally the factory warranty is up. BUT, I told my wife, This is why you buy from a company such as GMC, they will stand by their product, and help us pay for it. WRONG! GMC totally turned their backs on us! GMC customer service told me twice there is nothing they will do. They did tell me if I had taken it to a GMC dealer theyd look at it. Really? I cant drive it! Its at a private mechanic. What pay to have it towed again to a dealership so they can tell me they wont help me again then over charge me to fix it and make more money off me that I dont have??? NO WAY! The funny thing is, Ive read reviews of tons of people having this exact same problem with GMC and this Acadia transmission problem. Wake up GMC! I say this because not a couple months ago, I told my wife wed buy her a new Tahoe in July of 2016. NOT NOW! Im totally disgusted that a big company such as GMC, has no problem squeezing the little people of America!

I purchased an 07 Acadia two years ago with 80k miles and a 3 year warranty. Within the first month the transmission had to be repaired (SUV wouldnt go over 20 mph,wouldnt switch gears). The extended warranty covered the $3600 expense. Vehicle was in the shop for over a month. A few months later the steering was messed up and hissing loudly. The whole dash had to be taken out and I received new steering column amongst other things. Over $1500 repair covered by warranty. A few months later vehicle overheats, engine power is reduced. Cant drive vehicle. Not covered under warranty. Several hundred $$$ bill. Tire sensor light bad. Too much $ to fix. Still drivable. Few months later engine starts back-firing, driving very poorly. Every possible dash light is illuminated. Stabilitrak, traction control, engine, service all-wheel-drive (no oil light)- engine power reduced. Vehicle wont drive.Took it to GMC (who now knows me by first name but still screws me over every chance they get) and they said oil needed changed, after they did $200 in diagnostics. $300 later, I was out the door with no lights illuminated on the dash and a smooth running GMC. Got a lecture about the oil and how important it is to keep it changed and full.One month later ding ding ding- service traction control, engine power reduced. Car wont go! Checked the oil- it was still full. I still had plenty of miles left to go before my next oil change. Restarted the car- no lights. Drove fine except engine light on and remote start will not work when this light is on. A couple weeks later it happened again and now happens multiple times in one short trip. The vehicle cannot be safely driven in fear of this happening on a busy highway or while driving across the bridge with no emergency lane. Ive heard (and believe) its the sensor.However, Im so beyond sick and tired of this crap. The vehicle is nowhere near paid off and it wont run half the time. It hasnt ran well since I bought it. Problem after problem after problem. When I look online there are tons and tons of the same complaints. These Acadias are LEMONS. I have never in my life had so many issues with a vehicle, especially that even the dealers couldnt figure out what the problem was. Not sure how or why there isnt a class-action lawsuit. These vehicles are unsafe to drive. Has anyone contacted GMC corporate? SO INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED!

I bought my 2010 Acadia in 2013 when I found out I was having our third child. It has 34000 miles and I bought the GM 100000 extended warranty. I did not get the walk through bucket seats because I went for price. I got a great deal on a base model (1st worst decision). The seating is horrible and third row is basically impossible to get to when other kids are in the second row in car seats and boosters. And LOTS of crud and junk gets stuck in the seat sliders on the floor board.Anyways, my problems started with the steering rack. As someone stated above, a swooshing noise with turning the wheel. Luckily my warranty covered it after I went back to the dealer a few times. But the noise is still there! Now, a noise in the front end started early in the mornings as small accelerations such as in traffic. Dealer says we can check out or wait for it to escalate. Well in the last week it has escalated to the point I feel its unsafe to drive. It is going in the shop tomorrow!

I unfortunately own 2 GMC Acadias a 2009 and a 2011. I bought them in the same year due to our old vehicles breaking down. I wish I had the old rusty vehicles back. I work on these 2 vehicles constantly. On the 2009 Acadia I have replaced the transmission, water pump, throttle body, radio amplifier, hood support, steering rack inner and outer tie rods, sway bars, strut assemblies, spark plugs, gas cap, and the list goes on. It is sitting in the driveway now since it has a jerking power issue when we dropped the kids off at school this morning. The 2011 has not been as bad yet but has also had a new water pump, and I cannot get the steering wheel to stop vibrating when driving on the expressway even after getting the wheels balanced rotated and anything else I could think of.

The GMC Acadia had placed us in catastrophic danger as the engine shut down while we were driving at 65 miles per hour on the L.I.Expressway (New York) in the late evening. However, we luckily--by the grace of God--was able to verve (steer) off the HOV lane without being injured to the shoulder lane. Many passing cars recognized our emergency situation and provided space for us to move from the HOV lane. We were stranded for about 2 hours in the late evening waiting for a tow truck. The next day, we had the car diagnosed & serviced. The technician informed us that cylinders 3 &5 were misfiring. The coil pack was blown. The water seeped in the engine and battery areas. The electrical system was comprised by the water seeping in through the front windows and front hood.In addition, the Bose stereo, navigation system, back up camera were comprised by the electrical system problem. The repairs will cost approximately $5,000 to $8,000!! This is appalling & disgusting. The warranty has ended and the repair costs are beyond our means. We are demanding GMC to buyback these LEMON GMC Acadias, as it obviously has many design flaws &mechanical flaws. SHAME ON GMC to expect consumers to continually be disrespected by design & manufacturing mistakes.

When we purchased our 2009 Acadia, it was the day they announced their bankruptcy. We bought anyway because we wanted to buy American and be part of the solution. We loved the midsize look and feel and with the captains chairs in the middle, it allowed our third child, not in a carseat, to get to the back row nicely. So this vehicle is very nice for its practicality and spacious feel for all riders given its smaller size.So the bad news. One recall after another after another. I cant complain too much about that, as long as they get it right. What I am angry about is that there is a transmission problem throughout the company. GM mechanics know this. They know the solenoids are crap, but keep putting junk in their vehicles so that we the consumer has to pay an arm and a leg to get a $65 piece replaced because it requires taking the whole engine out. This happened once at 65k miles, and I thought, well, I guess this happens because that is what the mechanic said. But now it is happening again one year later, a different coil this time. I refuse to keep paying for this is. This is a known issue and the company is doing nothing about it.If I have to, I will do something about it. I will go back to buying Mitsubishi and Audi like I have in the past. Never had any solenoid coil problems with those cars. Never had any customer service problems either. As a matter of fact, Audi has stood by their products even out of warranty because they felt bad about a water pump that went bad. Lets see if GM steps up and takes care of those that took care of them in their darkest moment.

About 3 weeks ago, the engine light came on again. The repair shop I took it to said it was the transmission. I took it to a transmission shop, who said it was a known problem with this model of transmission, and that it was still being produced, even though its a known piece of junk. GM isnt obligated to do anything, because its not a life threatening problem. I will never buy anything made by GM, again.

At 18,000 miles I had 4 bald tires. They cover a portion of it under warranty. The tire guy has to call Michelin with the mileage and size of tread - if any. We did get 70% off new ones. Two days later I started experiencing the SHIFT TO PARK error. Its in park and I try to shut it off but it doesnt register being in park. This prevents the car from locking and causes nonstop dinging that will ultimately drain your battery. You have to turn it on/off again multiple times, jiggle the stick, hit the brake until it magically decides its good. It now happens EVERY time I shut it down. There is no fix. Again GM is aware and left it to the discretion of the dealership to share the info. Now Im stuck in a lease for a PITA car that I cant properly use. Save yourself the headache - buy something else!

I bought 2008 Acadia brand new from the dealer in CA (bay area) barely driven in the first few years, ran out of my 5yr warranty but under the warranty miles. When I encountered water leak problems, GM didnt cover it, dealer didnt help either. Got it fixed for few thousand out of pocket. Just got traction control off/ stabilitrak system off/ check gauges, check engine light on messages... reading all the complaints over here-- its just a matter of time that I am going to get transmission and other issues.I read pretty much on all the message boards and messages about people saying there should be a recall and/or a class action lawsuit. Question is, what does it take to create a class action law suit? Why not someone start a list to see how many of us are in this situation. Fact is, GM screwed us. $40,000+ is not pocket change or a small amount for anybody to let go. I am sure everyone has worked hard for their money to buy these SUVs, expecting them to be safe and reliable. These Acadias are neither and moreover have no resell value. We got screwed. I have over fifty mailer ads from lemon law lawyers about this car. Has anyone contacted the lawyers and found any relief? I am in for a Class Action. Can someone make a list?

This cost people homes, jobs, stress, etc. Im looking at all of the complaints and wondering how are they getting away with this. I purchased this truck used in 2011. I thought ok, just 4 years old... Worst experience of my life. The next year, the problems started. New power steering pump, Sun roof constant leaks, destroying the interior lining. Automatic windows going out. My head lights & tail lights constantly going out. Throttle body Valve??? Dont ask me but it cost approx $1300 to replace... And the worst, my TRANSMISSION! I was told the TCM fixed it and the car started back running... Then it wouldnt go forward again... Was told the transmission again... At the same time, all the sound went out in my car, no radio... no onstar... no blinkers, etc... This is horrible... We have to stand up... Im hearing the same complaints. I bought a used 201 Acadia last February 2016. I had it a month and I started noticing the Service StabiliTrak light coming on. Not only did it come on it reduced my engine power. I took it back from where I bought it and the service department claimed it was some sensor. All was good. About three months after that I had to replace the engine mounts. Now it is almost a year later and the StabiliTrak system is out of control. This time I take it to auto shop and the service tech said it was the battery (which was dying anyway). So I replaced the battery and I had to get the heat fixed too because of some actuator thingy. So I am happy to get my car back the next day. I had to drive an hour from home to work on that Monday and as soon as I made it to parking garage it started again with Service StabiliTrak. SO when I get off 9 hours later I am thinking I can just disengage the system but I could not figure it out. I drove home with hazard lights and prayed it would make it to certified GMC dealership for service. Two days later they say it was the throttle body so I hope when I pick up my vehicle today the issue is resolved.

The car will lose control and wobble and the power steering doesnt work while the car swerves and the traction light goes on. Ive almost been in a few dangerous accidents because of this problem with the kids in the car. Ive taken this car in for recalls that the company has sent me but none was for power steering. Every time I ask them to address and fix this issue, they ignore the question saying that its something else. The power steering also makes a moaning whining noise when turning.

Now because Gm recalled my car to fix ignition and cylinder that it put on my new car when I purchased it and in fixing their defective parts have disconnected my auto start which was fully functional and not defective. I am completely dissatisfied with the fact they expect me to pay to have it reprogrammed/reset out of my pocket! It worked fine and I already paid to have it programmed when I purchased the product... this is unacceptable to me as it was through no fault of my own. They put defective parts on my new car and they knew it!! I want resolution, either give me a credit to cover cost or offer to do it for me. I know I am not the only one who is affected by this situation. I urge people to speak up. This isnt right and do not let Gm get away with it. Gm you stink!! Not a satisfied customer here!!

We purchased a used 2008 GMC Acadia from Carl Black in Roswell, GA. At 60,000 miles, transmission had to be rebuilt. At 97,000 miles Solenoid valve and transmission control module assembly replaced. Carl Black tried to rip me off. Originally quoted $1800 to repair. After I told them I was taking car to my trusted mechanic, repair went to $400. I was still ripped off as I signed pages of warranty receipts when I picked up car. Now less than a year later, Stabilitrak light is on. Car only has 108,000 miles. This is the third major repair in three years. I am through with GMC and Carl Black forever. Almost forgot, sunroof leaks.

In April of 2012, my husband and I decided to purchase a brand new 2012 GMC Acadia. Since then we have been taking this car to dealership for different problem. First, we felt the engine shake multiple times, especially in the morning when we first start the car and sometimes when shifting gears, dealership said no problem with transmission. In less than 2 years, our headlights went out and that had to be replaced. Buttons on dashboard already peeling off, gas tank sensor is off, it stops filling up before tank is full. It has been raining in California, 2-3 days of rain, we start the car, and there is completely no sound coming out of the speaker. We take the car to the dealership and they say that water accumulated somewhere in the sunroof and did not drain and caused electrical to short circuit. They want $1600 to fix. I really thought this car was great, size was perfect for my family, but unfortunately, I was wrong.

GM literally made an awful product - unsafe and unreliable, and makes the customers pay for their mistakes. For years it rained INSIDE my car. I finally got them to replace my moldy floorboards and fix the leak (after putting social media pressure on them - they wanted me to pay at first). Im constantly having issues with my steering and engine. There is never NOT something wrong with my car and I am fed up. Its not right. Well another big repair needed for my 2010 GMC Acadia. First I had problems with the steering column. Then the core evaporator had to be replaced. Both were major repairs. GMC Paul Sur paid for most of it after I went on their website and complained. Now I need a TMC module and seal replaced. Need throttle service and fuel injector. Total cost parts and labor $1600! Called to get a breakdown for parts $734 and labor $509. Throttle clean $124.95, fuel induction service 139.95. Funny how I took my car in a year ago with the same problem. It was still under warranty. But they said that the codes did not show up at that time. Now its not under warranty and the codes showed up. Really? This is the third major problem Ive had with this car.

This car has been to the shop so many times, they all know me by name. Ignition coils all failed, and failed again, timing chain stretched (and now the transmission).. I also have an engine light on with an exhaust system problem. It goes on and on. I once loved this vehicle, but it has turned into the BIGGEST MISTAKE I have ever made in a car purchase. I can honestly say that after having 3 other cars purchased new, this has been the most troublesome piece of junk of all. I am so disappointed, especially after reading all of the complaints and problems here. I would NEVER EVER endorse the purchase of this vehicle. I am waiting patiently for the day I get rid of it--and will likely get nothing much in trade--theyre on to you GM.

Purchased 2009 GMC Acadia with 50k miles in 2012. Has been in for numerous recalls and repairs since 2nd day after purchase. 3 times to dealership for leaking fuel which was from fuel injectors and faulty o-ring that led to cabin filling with dangerous gas fumes, 3 times to shop for ignition coil replacement where dealership ignored the ECM technical bulletin. Replaced #3 coil 3 times (it was literally melted), 1 failed actuator, 1 engine rebuild when dealership failed to identify actuator as issue, actuator replacement, complete power steering failure after it was simply serviced due to recall limitations. 6 tows in all. And it is now in shop for ECM and you guessed it. Ignition coils/spark plugs. How much did GM help? They offered $1500 towards new car purchase. Not even close to repair costs. How knowledgeable was dealership service department? HORRIBLE. Did not identify correct issues, upsold repairs, ignored technical bulletins, and wiggled out of recall replacement of power steering. My warranty that I purchased covered some costs but even with warranty and extended service plan, I have paid out over $6k in a 2.5 yr period plus been on side of road more times than I can count. Cannot trade in due to very little market value. Stuck with worthless car that is costing a fortune. It was obviously a lemon and GM needs to acknowledge that and extend bumper to bumper coverage or buy out consumers. At this point I am surprised that I have not caught fire, blown up, or wrecked when power steering failed. This is a dangerous vehicle and people should stay away from it. I have over 20 service tickets.

According to the dealer (where I always take my vehicle) they says its the Condenser which cost $848.84. After the repair everything was great and I was COOL. Until September 2015 when there is another problem with my AC thats going to cost $2211.00 to fix. What in the hell. Contact GMC Inc. After several emails no calls over the phone just emails. They told me they are unable to help me but my dealer at Ourisman of Alexandria VA will help out with some coupons. Spoke to someone today 06 October 2015. The only help they would help me is $200. I know I should be happy but it still have to come out of my pocket with a lot more money when I just knew my problem was fixed with the last amount. Now 2 years later I have another issues with the AC. Not asking for the bill to be paid in full (GMC has more money than me) but a little more help than $200 would have been much appreciated. HELP. HELP.

My 09 Acadia has had so many problems - I wish I never bought it. The timing chain has been replaced THREE times! Once at 26k miles, once at 83k miles and now again at 111k miles. In addition to that...there have been so many other issues (tranny has been taken apart and rebuilt twice). GMC offers coverage up to 120k miles on the chain, but I wasnt aware of that when I took it to my shop. Now they wont even help cover any of the costs when I provide full, detailed, back up. I love the car when its running, but Id suggest to stay away from Acadia. Theyre really garbage.

I purchased a 2015 GMC Acadia in September 2014. The steering wheel shakes terribly. Ive brought it to the dealer several times. At first they said the tires had flat spots and would correct itself. Then they did a special wheel alignment on it. 40,000 miles later and having brought it to other shops (shops specializing in tires) I am still having the issue. In March 2015 (6 months after purchase) I had to have the brakes, rotors, brake pads, calipers, --everything replaced at a GM dealership in Florida as the rear brakes etc were completely rusted out. They had to use a sledgehammer to get things off. In September 2015, I had to have the same rear brake parts replaced as they had rusted out again!I used to drive 100,000 miles a year and never had this happen. Now I drive 20,000 and the brakes are rusting out. Ive lived in the same area for 60 years, so its not that Ive moved. I love the Acadia - but with the shaking steering wheel and the brakes rusting out, I wouldnt recommend buying it. Also the XM radio goofs up (not a big deal but it does happen) and they installed their WIFI in the Acadia and it shows theres a signal, but you cant use the WIFI.

Replaced AGAIN at dealer. $3000. Split in thirds by dealer, GMC and us. Just got it back 12/10/2014. Front end vibrates now. Heat mode door ($466) replaced at dealer 11/2014. 24 hours later, heat didnt work on passenger side or defroster. Replaced heat actuator a week and half later, 11/19/2014 ($288). 24 hours later, transmission died an hour from home. Fixed as described above 12/10/2014 ($1063). Now have vibration in front end since picking it up. Have appointment 12/16/2014 at dealer. Also replaced power steering pump (early 2014), throttle position sensor (early 2014). Have had it with the GMC dealer and GMC. Stand behind your product!

I bought a 2008 GMC Acadia in March of 2011. It was my biggest car purchase and I was very excited to buy it. It was everything I wanted and more, with lots of space for my family of 7 and many great accommodations. Last year, in Aug. 2012, I began having issues with it, water leaking, engine lights coming on and random cut offs. I took it to the dealer and they wanted me to replace the trans, which is very costly. I did not. My husband and I had the trans flushed and everything seemed to be okay again for a few months. When spring came around and rain came down, more problems began. Every time it rained, my battery was drained. Eventually, the car just stopped working. We took it to the dealer numerous times, but no one listened when I explained my thoughts that the leaking had something to do with the problem. We replaced two batteries in a week. The dealer claimed they couldnt find anything wrong with the car, but when I went to leave, the car went into battery saver mode so I took it right back. The service advisor was clearly annoyed and ignored me for the first 15 minutes I was there. I again explained my concerned that the rain and water that had leaked into my vehicle had something to do with the electrical issues I was having. He told me the two things had nothing to do with each other. A few days later, he calls and tells me that there was a leak in the front caused by the sun roof and that was causing the issues. We paid to repair that and he said that we were good to go. About a week later, the problem happened again. The dealership had our car for more than ten days (mind you, I am 7 months pregnant right now with a high risk pregnancy). This time, we worked with a person a friend recommended, and they repaired the rear moon roof at no charge for all of the inconvenience. I was very thankful for this. Unfortunately, three days and two nights rain later, my car will not start again. How is this still happening and why is this not being recalled? I cannot afford to put myself and my family at risk every time I get into my car.

We bought our 09 Acadia last year with just 37,500 miles on it and it was fine for the first few months. Then the driver side window started getting stuck and will not always come up. The air conditioner will not blow cold or cool air all of the time, sometimes it gets downright hot. And the biggest problem started in March prior to going on a trip, the car started hesitating on the highway and it was hard to accelerate. Upon returning home we took it to a mechanic and it only did small hesitations, not enough for him to diagnosis the problem. Then we drove with it hesitating every other day. It stopped for a while and now you can hear the transmission issues loud and clear. I am having trouble backing up, it jerks when I do, and when I try to take off the you can hear the gear issues. And it has been sitting for almost 2 weeks now because I now have to shell out a ton of money for a car with less than 50,000 miles. DO NOT BUY THIS CAR, YOU WILL REGRET IT IF YOU DO!

The vehicle would not shift out of 2nd gear going down the highway. The check engine light came on, and there are now four codes all for internal transmission issues. The car is 4 months past the 5-year warranty, but only 64000 miles. This is a huge safety issue. If this transmission fails while on an interstate highway, and it will not go over 20 mph, the results could be deadly. By researching this issue, I have found a considerable amount of complaints about 2007 GMC Acadias between 50,000 and 80,000 miles having transmission failures, but yet no recalls. This is an issue that GMC is well aware of, through their own admissions. Why is there such a delay waiting for a recall? Are all of the complaints going to have to wait for a fatality before GMC admits there needs to be corrective actions?

Transmission replaced, continued to have problems, water leaks, actually water pouring in car from dvd player and interior lights, had recall years back, said they replaced tubes, paid for this same problem a few times, then got so bad and complained, they finally sealed it all up and replaced the headliner that was completely water stained! Radio went out due to water damage and I had to pay because they said it was the fuse box! Radio and dvd worked shortly, then back and forth with nothing. I have driven car for over a year with it working/not working. When it doesnt work, no onstar either! So a lot of good the emergency phone is to me! Towed back to the shop again today! Engine light. Running horribly. Put in reverse, jumped forward, rpms shooting up, sounds like something dropped into a woodchipper from under the hood. Oh and headlight is filled with water. First and last GM I will ever own! Its a pretty looking package, but its a pandoras box. GM is bankrupting my family! Thanks GM, youre the best!

We have had very numerous repairs on this 2008 while other vehicles our kids have, Toyota, have none of these problems. Love the 2015 Acadia Denali but hesitant on buying due to concern for these same problems.

2010 GMC Acadia Blown Engine - Family took vacation to Colorado from Oklahoma Summer of 2015. Two hours outside of Denver @ 75mph engine shuts off. I barely get the SUV off the road, lucky we werent killed. Tow to SUSS GMC in Aurora, Colorado. Explain situation hoping to get the car up and running as we are on vacation. No Loaner car, No help with a rental car and 3 days later they say, Blown engine that will be $8600. The vehicle is 4 months out of warranty with 87k on it. This car already had one engine replaced under warranty, and now less than 20k later the replacement engine had blown. Obviously defective and poor workmanship and diagnosis by Ferguson GMC in Oklahoma.Nobody will stand behind the vehicle. Its sad. Im a GM guy. First car was a 68 Impala my grandpa gave me. I have had 7 GM since high school. What a disappointment this is... I cant get anybody to work with me or give me any help at all. My Supervisor Specialist has yet to call me back in a weeks time. Our GMC Acadia has been a lemon from shortly after we paid over $45000 for it new in 2008. The DVD/navigation went out first and two refurbished dealer units later, it still does not work to this day. Then we had the recall for the sunroof drains. Whatever the dealership did, it did NOT stop the water from pouring out of your headliner lamp in the rear. The rear window wiper will not shut off for days if you accidentally turn it on. Next we had the rear window fluid reservoir heater recall. That involved the dealer unplugging it to prevent a fire hazard. Next was the leak in the air conditioning condenser. After three consecutive annual recharge fees ($160 plus each), we hope the one the dealer installed will work next summer. The latest fun involves a dead battery. We replaced it with a new one just to find out it died in just a few hours. Trip to a dealer this morning revealed the dead battery was because of extensive water corrosion to the interior fuse panel. The source of the water is from the first recall issue of the water leaks from the sunroof drain tube defects. The dealer said we should fix the sunroof drain prior to putting the new fuse panel in or the problem will just repeat. Additionally the tech stated we should pay them to clean out the drain tubes on an annual basis just to avoid more electrical damage from water. To top things, the tech also advised us the drivers side axle was shot and that the repairs would total over $1500. We still own 4 GM cars and have been faithful for 35 years. In fact, our next purchase was going to be a Cadillac CTS, but after today we are done with GM. Count me in for a class action suit regarding the Acadia, there are several more issue but I have said enough for now.

My Acadias transmission went out on a trip to KC. About 4 hrs away from home. When it was put in Reverse it went in Drive & vice versa. Finally it went forward when put in Drive but RPMs stayed at 5,000, it wouldnt shift gears to go over 50 mph. I was on interstate. Top speed is 75 but people in KC drive A LOT faster. Im surprised my daughter & I got back to the hotel safe & sound. My insurance covered the tow to the closest shop. They would only pay $100 or less for the tow. I will have to drive the 4 hrs back to get it when its fixed. 8 hr round trip. Ill have to miss a full days wages or use my only day off for the trip. I couldnt be more upset. It was a Saturday when it broke down so naturally about every tranny shop was closed. I got a hold of 1 hardworking mechanic that was still at his shop to see if hed work on it. When I told him it was a 2008 GMC Acadia he said theyre known for bad transmission. I wish Id known that sooner. This is my only vehicle. I wasnt going to call someone to come that far to pick us up. My only option was to rent a car to get home. I have no idea how I will make it back to get the Acadia after its fixed & who knows how long itll be before its fixed. I cant afford a rental the entire time so Ill be without a car. How will I get to work to be able to pay for this? This just happened yesterday so I havent heard back from the mechanic yet. I will write another review about the exact problem & solution later. Im definitely giving GMC customer service a call tomorrow & will never purchase from GM again. Lots of people are having the same problem, I am with their Acadias. Ford here I come!!Updated on 09/23/2015: I was not able to find out what went wrong with my transmission. It was sent to my warranty company for them to determine the issue. They chose a rebuilt tranny to replace the first. The torch converter was bad. They sent the second rebuilt tranny. I was told the Acadia was fixed. I went to KC to pick it up 4 hrs away from home. It made it about 75 miles when the RPMs flew up to 5,500 & the engine lost power. I had to drive the other 3 hrs home with it in low & manually shift gears. Its been at another shop for a week now & I havent heard back from them. The company that supplied the rebuilt tranny will pay to have it fixed. The main issue is Im paying $350 a month for a car I havent been able to drive for over a month & the car I want to trade this pile of bolts for will be sold before I can get this thing fixed! I do not blame the mechanics or the rebuilt tranny company for all the trouble. I blame GM for a very poorly designed transmission!

Bought a used 2010 GMC Acadia from sister-in-law Feb 2015. It had 113000 miles. Ive only put 6,000 on it in a year because Im scared to go anywhere. I know for a fact she took care of it and had all paperwork for maintenance. Shortly after getting the car, the power steering completely failed almost causing a wreck. I had to replace the entire steering system which cost me $2k. The check engine light was on and I thought it was a tune-up, but it registered timing chain and camshaft. Big Bucks. Im cutting my losses and getting rid of this piece of crap. That was my first and last GMC.

In October of 2011, with approximately 50K miles the transmission failed and had to be replaced. My car now has only 84,000 miles, which means, 34K on the new transmission and the car is currently in the service department at the dealership where I purchased it and where the original transmission was replaced, they confirmed that the transmission does need to be fixed or replaced again and Im expected to pay for it. The original transmission should have lasted at least this long and its unreasonable to expect that I pay for a third transmission on this car at only 84,000 miles.

They could not hear it. I finally gave up on it. Then my transmission went out & I called the attorney general after paying about 4000 dollars to get it fixed. Two weeks after I called them I received a letter in the mail and they had a recall & I got my money back.Now the rack & pinion had to be replace. Im very upset as I when on the internet And found out that several other people have had the same problem. If anyone still has a Acadia please call this number as this is a safety issue that should be address for our safety and our childrens safety. The # is 888-327-4236. We have had multiple problems with our 2008 GMC Acadia. The one that we will be bringing it in for for the 3rd time is a leaky sunroof. In hard rains, it leaks internally leaving us with a very soaked passenger side floor and electrical issues - the first time the car wouldnt shut off even after removing the key. Ive researched this and have found multiple complaints from this model year and others. The dealership claims its not a manufacturers problem. The first time I brought it in and told them the issue (leaking sunroof), they claimed the water was coming up from underneath the car. I went to pick it up on a day with heavy rain. Before leaving the dealership, I tried turning it off and it continued to run even with the key removed - service person was very embarrassed especially after I told him the issue and they said I was wrong. Took it in again with the same problems and they said the sunroof drain was clogged. That was last fall. Today we had a hard rain. The floor is soaked again. My biggest complaint is the dealership/manufacturer not owning up to the problem. As I said, there are numerous blogs with the same complaints, but they wont own up to it. I hate even looking at them, i.e., dealership, any more.

November 2015 - Received the following notice from GMC: As the owner of a 2011 model year GMC Acadia, your satisfaction with our product is very important to us. This letter is intended to make you aware that, on some 2011 model year GMC Acadia vehicles, the throttle-position sensor may cause the engine to run rough, cause the malfunction-indicator lamp and/or an engine reduced power message to illuminate, and reduce the engine’s power. Do not take your vehicle to your GMC dealer as a result of this letter unless you believe that your vehicle has the condition as described above. General Motors is providing owners with additional protection for the condition described above. If this condition occurs on your 2011 GMC Acadia within 10 years of the date your vehicle was originally placed in service or 120,000 miles, whichever occurs first, the condition will be repaired for you at no charge. Our Acadia did not have the malfunction-indicator lamp and/or an engine reduced power message illuminate but starting in January 2016, the engine did start to run rough.January 2 – January 7, 2016. First Noticed Problems: Our Acadia engine was running very rough – idling, accelerating with unusual RPM’s, not running smoothly, stopped at lights and it felt it was going to die, etc. The Acadia has 60K miles on it. Brought the car to BTR (garage we have used for over 20 years, and 9 cars). BTR replaced four Solenoids, which did not fix the problem. After several more days trying to diagnose the problem, they suggested we have the car towed to a GM dealer that was most convenient, Classic Chevrolet. So we did.January 8 – January 25, 2016. Classic Chevrolet reported that the problem was the Catalytic Converter, and that they would replace it, under warranty. Apparently, this did not fix the problem. After researching this for several days, they were looking at a timing chain. Classic informed us that ‘needed to open the front end to further diagnose it. This was going to cost us $1,600 to open up the engine, and it could cost significantly more depending on what they find.’ Classic then reported they found ‘metal shavings’ in the oil, diagnosed the problem as “Catastrophic Engine Failure” and reported we needed a whole new engine, at a cost of about $7,700, on a 2011 GMC Acadia with 60K miles. Classic stated that since we had not had the Acadia serviced (i.e. oil changes, etc.) at a GM dealer, thus ACDelco oil filters were not used, we would be responsible for 100% of the cost.After we provided receipts for the regular maintenance required for an automobile, Classic stated that GM would pay for 60% of the new engine, and we would be responsible for 40% of the costs. The offer of us paying for 40% of the costs of a new engine is unacceptable. According to our Acadia’s owner’s manual we were not required, nor is it even suggested, to use ACDelco oil filters, and that according to the Federal Trade Commission, i.e. the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, it is against the law for a car manufacturer to mandate a specific brand of car product, unless it is provided at no charge. After we informed Classic of the above mentioned point, Classic Chevrolet stated they wanted to tow the car to a GMC dealership. So, it was towed to GMC Beck & Masten North. This is where the car was purchased in 2010.January 25 – Present. Upon receipt of the car, GMC Beck & Masten North first reported they needed to do their own diagnostic research as no paperwork was sent with the car. Furthermore, they stated the car started up fine, albeit it was running a little rough, but they would get back to us with further details as soon as possible. After over 2 weeks at this dealer, now the 3rd repair shop to be used, the service manager stated that ‘the engine looks good, appears to be well maintained. Our service records were good but he was waiting on GMC to see what kind of assistance they could offer. He also stated the oil looked good, and that he did not see any problem with the filter and/or using after market oil filters.’Finally, Beck & Masten stated the engine needs to be replaced – 5 of the 6 bearings were spun/gone – it would cost approximately $8,000, and that GMC would pay for 50% of the costs and we would be responsible for the other 50%. Again, this is totally unacceptable. Beck & Masten stated they would talk to their regional GMC representative and get back to us. Other notes during this process: This is 2011 GMC Acadia – purchased on December 18, 2010 – it has 60K miles on it – the problems started 5 years and 15 days after it was purchased. It is not stated in the owner’s manual what brand, or what specs are required, in an oil filter. We have serviced this car regularly since the date it was purchased – have provided all receipts to date. We have spoken to GMC Customer Service, (1-800-462-8782), during this whole process.We have been told to be patient 63 times. Industrial Distributors, supplier of the oil filters to BTR, called Classic Chevrolet, the dealer who originally stated the after-market oil filters were faulty, in attempt to investigate the filter scenario in more detail. Classic never returned phone call. General Manager of Classic Chevrolet, commented that he ‘had a hard time believing that after-market oil filters would cause catastrophic engine failure.’ We have been told “I understand your frustration”, 47 times. Beck& Masten, stated there could be two reasons that this many bearings in an engine would fail. 1. There was water in the engine, i.e. car drove through high water. However, they stated there was no evidence this ever occurred (which we also attested to), or 2. There was poor lubrication in the engine due to lack of oil. We have provided all receipts affirming the Acadia was serviced at regular intervals. We have further reported that at no time was there an indication that oil was low in the Acadia. Therefore, if poor lubrication did occur, any warning indicators in the Acadia did not work properly.The engine in the Acadia is a 3.6 LLT, is a Direct Injection Engine. This feature causes extremely rapid degradation/failure of the oil between changes, resulting in rapid degradation of cam gears, timing chains and premature failure of crank bearings. It is our understanding GM stopped using this engine in the Cadillacs, LaCrosses and Camaros. General Manager of GMC Beck & Masten, stated, unsolicited, that his recommendation for the future, whether it is a GM product or not, to have cars serviced only at a dealer, because it ‘carries more weight.” Commentary: Kind of interesting how a GM would suggest building your war chest for a potential fight with the manufacturer. Is GM building cars anticipating situations like this to happen on a regular occurrence? Several times, we asked Classic Chevrolet, GMC Customer Service and GMC Beck & Masten North for their diagnoses in writing. As of this date, nothing has been provided.Not once, have we seen any evidence that GM, GMC, Classic Chevrolet, and GMC Beck & Masten North, are working together to resolve this issue. Commentary: seems to be a Catastrophic Communication Failure for a Catastrophic Engine Failure! GMC, GM, GMC Beck & Masten, not to mention numerous auto mechanics we have talked to, all question, “Why was the car transferred from one GM dealer to another GM dealer?” BTR – it was explained to us that a catastrophic engine failure is a term used to describe a complete failure of the engine. 5 out 6 bearings spun would mean completely knock out the engine. If a bearing fails, you hear a “knock” or a “ping”, usually one fails at a time. If there were 5 bearings failed it had to be an instantaneous loss of oil and a catastrophic failure. If the engine ran on January 8th to check the catalytic converter, when did this catastrophic failure occur? On Jan 26th, after going to Beck & Masten, the engine started up but ran hard with knocks. I was under the impression with 5 bearings failed the engine shouldn’t even start. Beck & Masten sent this to us a little while ago: When we disassembled your vehicle, we found 5 spun rod bearings and scored cylinder walls. The engine (inside) was not dirty and the oil was clean. The oil looked to have been changed recently. Cause of failure is unknown. It will be necessary to replace engine to complete this repair. Commentary: Kind of sounds like a faulty engine to me!

Terrible terrible terrible - Water Pump, Transmission, Power Steering, Front End. All this before 60K miles but a month after the 5 yr mark!!! And now at 70K miles and almost all the same items AGAIN with the addition of electrical issues, motor surges, terrible propane/natural gas smell in cabin (enough to make you vomit). Call GMC. No help! Advice take it to a certified service location - so they can take your money over and over and over again.Yes they are willing to help. Yes they are willing to say they can fix anything. Helpful is fixing an issue and it staying fixed. Helpful is changing the water pump at 59k miles and not being told we want another $2500 to fix the power steering. I will NEVER purchase another GM product. Its a money pit! The local dealership is so friendly but they are stuck trying to fix a product with no hope. 4 Ford vehicles and over 1 Million miles driven with basic maintenance and one transmission and I cannot even get this 2012 GMC Acadia SLT to drive 75k Miles!!!

My car referenced below is currently dead since 12/15/2011. Diagnosis showed 3 cylinders compression pressure out of 6 is 0. Then they found that the engine is sludge.I brought the car to GMC for inspection on 9/28/2011. The car warranty expired on 9/17/2011. I have 3 questions: 1) Should the inspection procedure detect that there is a problem prior to the collapse of the motor? The car did run for almost 3000 kilometers post the inspection and prior to motor death. 2) Shouldnt GMC still fix this car and consider it still within the warranty? This is because (a) the car was inspected within 10 days of the warranty. The GMC dealer in Lebanon could not take it sooner. GMC dealer told me that they would still consider it under warranty. Also, (b) I really believe that the inspections done by the GMC dealer in Lebanon should have detected it. I cannot imagine the problem if done properly and diligently. I cannot imagine a great company such as GMC would have a bad diagnostic program. And (c) regardless of warranty, how can Acadia die after 30,600 kilometers (less than 20,000 miles), and GMC corporate people in the USA are not all over this lemon car?I would think that the GMC engineering community would be extremely interested in this case and want to learn all about it and come out with a very conclusive conclusion. Instead, the company is allowing a bunch of crooks and bad business/service personnel operate this GMC dealership. It is such organizations that create bad reputations for their mother company, because they put maximized profitability in front of quality and customer care.3) What can cause the death of the Acadia car within 20,000 miles? I brought the car for inspections and oil changes at 11530 kilometers and 27,651 kilometers. Please look into this and take a disciplinary action against your Lebanese GMC dealership and force them to fix the car asap. The engine switched off while I am driving my 2010 Acadia on the 2nd of September 2012. Fortunately, I was driving in a service road on low speed so I handled the situation. However, I recovered the car to Ras Al Khor service center where they kept the car for over than 6 working days to resolve the issue, which is as per their diagnoses was a wiring problem led to electricity short in the car. They handed over the car to me on 10th of September under supervision of Mr. **, delivery coordinator who confirmed that the issue is resolved. However, last Tuesday, 2nd of October, I was driving my car when the engine switched off again without any sign. I would assure you that it’s only my good luck that I wasn’t driving my car on high speed and I luckily handled the situation in both incidents. I really lost the trust in my car which I directly bought from GMC and did all the services through your service centers. Mr. ** (the service manager) assured me that he will personally take care of my car problem and he will call me back, which he didn’t. And till now, nobody called me and all I got are false promises.

Plus, I was expecting my first baby and thought this would be a great family vehicle. I never noticed that my car charger did not work, thought it was the charger but after 4 of them it turns out it was the truck! The dealership did not want to fix it. Then I noticed there was a noise in the tires, dealership wanted to charge just to look at it. Then, the windows wouldnt go down, now, the darn thing wont start! When I am driving, the truck wont go! This is so darn dangerous and GMC tells me I have to fix it myself because they are not responsible. My truck wont start and its the gas pump that was defective from the get go. I will NEVER buy GMC again. They need to take responsibility for the garbage they sold.

I have a 2010 Acadia SLT. I love my car however upon my last visit to the dealership for regular tune up we discovered the car was leaking oil which led to completely taking the car apart. This car was purchased new in 2010 and was $38000.00. It has 65,000 miles on it and we have had very little issues - the recalls. Not too bad. This car is very safe and rides and handles very well after 6 years. I am even considering getting a new Acadia Denali. I do feel like now that the car has over 50,000 miles - little things are going to start going wrong. When I went in for my last tune up the service manager gave me a list of things that my car was due to have done to it. Thankfully my husband is a retired mechanic for Ford and knew that it was all a bunch of crock. A car this expensive with that has been maintained as scheduled should last well over 150,000.00 miles. Not sure if it will.

Bought a 2009 GMC ACADIA in 2008 for 42,000. I took it in dozens of times starting at under 5000 miles for loud idling, banging sounds, sludged engine, steering loss, drastically dropped fuel economy, etc. Given one excuse after another claiming oil not changed enough despite receipts proven I had. GMC claimed I had never brought it in for oil changes there. They also claimed they had no record of several of the times I brought it in to them while on warranty. I produced receipts from the dealers service department that showed I had. Every time I brought it in they claimed they could not hear probs, couldnt recreate the steering etc. Right after the warranty expire the same service manager who had said probably 5 times he couldnt hear the prob or recreate the steering issue says as he drove it back Do you know your steering is out and sounds like your engines going to need to be replaced? Fast forward years later and they finally did a recall on the steering so that is fixed. The transmission is now on a 120,000 mile extended warranty. They it out to avoid another recall - Timing Chain recall that if you try to have down they claim it has been done even though no record. I take it to another dealer and he says flat out GMC refuses to replace the failed engines that are failing in all these models. Funny I guess we all didnt do our oil right huh? Im ready for a class action suit. Contact me to join. The steering, timing chain and transmission recalls and extended warranties are all because of class action suits. Lets do this people. They cant keep selling expensive pieces of junk to good honest hard working American families.

Since that time we have experienced repeated issues with the fuel gauge dropping to completely empty, while much more gas is in the tank. Have taken it in for service 7 times already and have spent numerous more times talking with them and calling Corporate GMC. They have tried reprogramming a couple times, checking a float in the tank, replacing a cluster, etc. They tell me nobody else has this issue, and the loaners I have had have not had this issue. Their end-solution was for me to always keep half a tank of gas in the vehicle. Theres a solution for you. Now when the tank is nearly full, it shows over full. Salesman tells me, Hey, I dont make em, I just sell em.

Need to be replaced. The fuel sensor broke and needed to be replaced. The driver side air modulators broke causing hot air to blow. Needed to be replaced. The driver side window control panel broke and needed to be replaced. The hood support rod broke. The radiator broke and needed to be replaced. The radio broke and need to be replaced. The air conditioning blows hot and needs to be replaced. The engine mounts all broke and needed to be replaced. The engine is now dying and was recommended by my mechanic to get rid of the car. He says I need a new engine. I still have a $7000 balance left on the car and it is worthless.

I NOTICED a popping sound coming from the steering, as Id turn, took it in, according to them its fine... 3 weeks, I was just driving and it completely shut down no warning, I had to put it into park, restart it. Took it in, ran a diagnosis and nothing. December 2008, winter I was driving the car, the gas pedal went to the floor again, no warning, almost wrecked into a pole. Ive had continuous issues with my SUV, with the warranty, even worse now that I paid it off, repairs are more than anything else. Approximately 4000.00 in repairs now. I feel I should get a replacement being that this SUV only has 47,000 miles on it!!! Currently its in the shop, for the throttle body, last month I formed out $900.00 for brakes! Paid $125 For evap. valve. Im sick of this unsafe cartel or junk. I dont even take my child around in it because its not safe!

My wife and I bought our GMC Acadia new in 2011 and we have put more money into this vehicle than our Dodge truck we bought 15 years ago. First the struts were blown out the third year we owned it and also a stabilizer bar and most recently the throttle sensor went bad and so the entire throttle body needed to be replaced and also some reprogramming supposedly. Not impressed with this GMC - could be the last one we ever own. Oh and of course the later fix gmc weasled around the warranty knowing which parts are junk and how to get around covering junk parts.

Bought 2011 GMC Acadia in July of 2010 for my wife. Check engine light came on at 35,000 miles. Dealer says needs timing chains and guides replaced. Going to cost 2,900 dollars. Will cost me 55 percent and GM will pay 45 percent. This should never happen at this mileage. GM knows they have a problem with this motor seeing they have a revised chain and guides. Don’t understand why there is not a recall or class action lawsuit for this problem seeing when you Google this problem you see it is very prevalent. Will not be buying any more gm vehicles anymore. And you should think twice before you buy one.

Purchased my acadia in october 2008 built custom from factory. I love my truck, my idea was to drive it for 200,000 miles. But at 42,000 miles the transmission went out, all types of other repeated problems, but was absorbed thru the extended gmpp warranty I paid for. Now right after my 95,000 mile warranty is up, Ive moved into my next round of problems. At 105,000, transmission control module goes out 1,200$, water pump replacement (free) and thermostat replacement 480$, front end rack & pinion and struts 600$, car shuts off, all types electrical system going crazy. Today Im told 680 for a fuse box. I love the style and idea of the acadia but the company and dealers and crooks. I have an 08 kia optima I bought new at the same time. It has 90,000 miles on it and all I do to it is change the oil and they gave me free lifetime oil changes for that!!! I WILL NEVER BUY AMERICAN AGAIN!!!!!

We bought a 2011 Acadia with 78k miles on it. Ive been a GM fan my entire life and trusted the name. It seemed like a great vehicle at first. We had some minor issues here and there but nothing too bad. My first aggravations were with the engineering of the vehicle. Changing the oil is a pain and the headlight bulbs are a nightmare. The air system decided to only blow hot air on the driver side, possible deflector failure. Good times for the summer. One day the engine started knocking.Immediately we parked it and towed it to our local shop. They started it to listen to it and the engine locked up. 6 months out of warranty (90k miles on it, but over 5 years) and GMC said well youre the second owner so we cant help you. 7k to put a new engine in. Im nearly 30k into the vehicle and max trade in is about 10,500 from a GM dealer. With the original engine and the new GM engine we average about 13-14 mpg getting 16 highway. My 04 Silverado gets 17. Ill never, ever buy a GM product again.

The power steering pump went and now the car has shut down twice on busy highway. The GM dealer tells me because of low oil, after he just serviced the vehicle less than 3 weeks prior. A car shuts down because of low oil?? No oil light, no warning. We did receive a $180 bill for checking the oil and topping up. I threw the bill in the managers face. Seriously Dangerous that we plan a class action suit on GM for allowing and knowing such a dangerous activity to occur and risking an accident. Little did I know that I would be driving with my 5 year old in the car when it essentially shut off in the middle of the Interstate at less than 2 years old! That was the beginning of the END. It was year 2011 and this amazing car became nothing more than a Lemon... It needed a NEW ENGINE. I knew I was in for it and I was right. All of these posts are exactly what Ive been through. I dont remember all of the correct descriptions but StabiliTrak, steering pump, motor mount are just a few to mention. I was hoping to keep the car for ONE more year...but now the car wont shift...wont go. Guess what? Wave plate fractured sending pieces of ground metal teeth throughout the transmission. Refurbished transmission needed for $4,800 or new for $6,800. I was happy to receive the wave plate recall letter in the mail but lucky me the tranny died after 120k miles so its not covered. I called GM to discuss a better cost for a transmission.. I said Im not asking for a new car. Im not asking for a new transmission. I simply needed my GMC Acadia to function through 2015 and $4,800 is a high price to pay considering the thousands already invested in repairs. Theyve known about the so-called wave plate issue for a long time...before my car passed the 120k mark.

If you are keeping count thats almost a total of $48k. So my transmission decides to fail at 72348 and I contact the dealer to be told that myvehicle is not covered by the manufacturer warranty or extended warranty as of 4 months ago. REALLLY! Then every possible shop I have spoken to has suggested that the transmission should not have failed at that mileage. Seems like I was doomed from the day I purchased this vehicle. I contacted GM corporate office to see if they would assist at least with parts and I pay labor. NADA. No help. Save your money; do not BUY ANY GM BRAND. Now I guess I understand why Toyota, Honda, and Nissan are normally better buys. If you have an original warranty stating drive train etc. for 100000 miles, you should honor it. I AM AT 28000 MILES SHY OF THAT. WHY SHOULD I PAY $3000 FOR A TRANSMISSION? ANSWER ME THAT GM AKA PROFESSIONAL GRADE!

I purchased a new 2011 GMC Acadia and three years (38,500 miles) after driving, I was advised by my local dealer that there was a leak in the rack and pinion, and on the steering wheel gear. The cost to repair these was quoted at no less than $1,500. Fortunately, the dealer agreed to perform repairs on goodwill. I was not aware that these were a common issue with Acadias. During the time Ive owned it, I have had to repair electrical wiring on the passenger window as it wouldnt always roll up/down. I have also noticed that when driving on the freeway it slows down/cranks up when shifting gears. I am very disappointed in having to deal with these issues when I still have a note for the vehicle. I contacted GMC directly and posed a few questions which they werent able to answer. 1. What is the guarantee on repairs made? A. No guarantee. 2. What is the average repair cost to own an Acadia? A. They dont have that information. 3. How reliable are Acadias? A. Very reliable vehicle. When I asked if they were aware of low reliability rating on Kelley Blue Book and Edmunds, their response was that they were not aware of that. After my phone call I have decided to sell my Acadia because I deem it unsafe and unreliable and obviously, GMC doesnt stand by its product. Never looking back to GMC.

I bought my 2008 Acadia New from the dealership and I have been in Love with it from the beginning. The biggest issues Ive had are my water pump going out in 2013. The rails on floor to moves rows back & forth are a hassle but weve managed to just fold the seats & thats always worked (I got the 8 passenger). A/C has gone bad a couple of times as well. Other than that no major issues. Im at 180k miles now & it decided it was tired by stalling on me & shaking on the freeway, it read on dash Engine reducing speed. I was told by a technician that the transmission was going out and not worth putting money in it anymore because it was at the end of the road. I took it to a different tech at a different shop and he said there seems to be nothing wrong with the transmission and its the suspension, a/c and a few leaks that were not caught which led it to have no coolant & overheating. I have been debating getting a new car because this car has been so good to me and Ive driven it from Los Angeles to Arizona, Las Vegas, Lake Arrowhead, & Big Bear every single winter. Im also a Realtor so I drive a lot. My transmission and engine have never been replaced. So Im having a hard time parting with it. The second technician that gave me a second opinion also offered me $2500 if I decide to actually part with it. Im still debating and having a hard time but I think the time has come to say goodbye. :(

When is GMC going to admit that they threw quality out the window when they built this vehicle. Recalls are done only when its life and death. Right from the start, my headlight harnesses melted. Thousands of similar complaints online but no recall yet. Steering column, timing chain and the list goes on. Now for the shocker. I took my Acadia to the dealer because I received a Special Coverage Program 14582. My vehicle ran rough and the check engine light was on. That is exactly what the Notice described. I also asked the dealer to inspect the front end and steering because there was an outstanding power steering pump recall. After a few hours, the dealer called me back with the news.As per the email, my 2009 GMC Acadia with 150,000 km needed: replacement of catalytic converter bank2 $722.10, replacement of pre-CAT/post cal oxygen sensors $451.41, fuel system servicing recommended $169.95, replacement of spark plugs $295.40, evap purge solenoid $124.32, replace both front struts $952.86, replace both rear shocks $456.00, replace one broken engine mount $248.42, replace water pump $513.50, perform four wheel alignment $129.95, replace rack and pinion assembly $1,583.24, replace right front lower control arm bushing(s) $416.05, replace left front lower control arm bushing(s) $416.05, replace left rear upper control arm $541.12, replace right rear upper control arm $541.12, plus three separate @120.00. Diagnose charges for the check engine light, an oil leak and steering and suspension came to over $9,000.00.Sorry for the long-winded story. I only accepted the repairs that I thought were important. It came out to just over $2,000.00 and the Acadia seems perfect now. Moral of the story is that dealership service areas will attempt to build you a new car if you let them. I think they wanted me to give up on this SUV and head straight for their showroom.

Bought a new 2014 Acadia Denali - almost $60K. After 8 months, the driver’s seat started making a Clicking noise when I shifted my weight slightly. It was loud and often enough that passengers asked what that noise was. Called the dealer I bought it from, but they were booked up for a week. Took it to another dealer and explained the problem. He said it was the seat tracks and that it was a very common complaint. He could replace the tracks, but that I would be back in three months with the same complaint. Since it was a warranty issue, I told him to order several sets because I would expect them to be replaced. He told me that he would only replace them once, and that I should go back to the dealer that I bought the truck from as he was not about to use up his warranty allocation on me. GM does everything in their power to sell you a vehicle. However, they fall short on support and service. After owning 3 GM vehicles in the past, this will be my last GM product.

I purchased a used 2008 GMC Acadia with a GMC certified vehicle. (Late 2011) AND purchased the extended warranty. At first I was totally in love with this vehicle. Then the transmission went, and it’s been all downhill since then (I do make it noted that the transmission was covered under the original warranty THANKFULLY, but did have problems within hours of getting it back). Every alert light and alarm went off for about 2 minutes (happened while on VERY busy highway). Took it back to the dealer and was told that it was probably still went from the power wash?? So it sat there for 2 more days. Then within 6 months, it was leaking transmission fluid, took it back to the dealer and was told that a gasket was bad. It got taken apart again, and this time my extended warranty covered that with only a $100.00 out of my pocket. Since then I have done my oil changes, taken it in for recalls and all of this is still wrong: This is a list of things that I have currently wrong with my Acadia. 1. Rear window wiper doesn’t turn off. (Don’t use it anymore because of this) 2. Passenger seat warmer light on control panel stays on but seat warmer isnt on. 3. Passenger window (at times) wouldnt go down (at first), but when I would turn off the car, and come back later it would work. Now, it wont go down at all. 4. Back windows are starting to have the same problems as the front passenger side window (I leave them up now and have the air on). 5. Lights on dashboard dim and brighten on their own at any time. 6. While driving all gages, lights, radio, and anything electrical turned off, but CAR STAYED DRIVING. Pulled over shut car off and waited 5 minutes and turned it back on, and everything went back to normal (This has happened 2x so far). 7. Access port for MP3/IPod works on and off, cutting music in and out (I have bought 4 new cords and this happens to them all and the latest one is only 1 month old). 8. Back alert lights and beep stop working on and off. 9. Struts are leaking since transmission was fixed, and didnt before I had that done. 10. When done filling car up with gas, it wont start. It takes SEVERAL tries to get it going.11. Tire sensor went and leaked all the air out of my tire (I got a flat tire and lucky I was in a small town with a garage within walking distance). That cost me $165.00. Now another one is going. And I am noticing that the air is going out of THAT tire!The original warranty is over, and my extended warranty doesnt cover electrical problems. So, total I received ANOTHER recall for this vehicle, this time for the automatic lift gate prop rod. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am. I am currently paying almost $500.00 a month for this car and I cannot afford to put thousands of dollars in it to fix all this! It’s CRAZY! I know some of the problems I have are minor irritations, but if I am paying for a vehicle to have all the bells and whistles, they better work!I called GMC today and voiced my complaints. They are supposed to call me back tomorrow and let me know if they can help me at all. I purchased this vehicle for my two girls, one of whom has spina bifida and needs a wheelchair (so we need lots of room). I need a good performing vehicle because of the amount of time I spend in the car taking her back and forth to doctor appointments that are about 1 hour away from our house. Anyone else experience all of these things?? Did you get it fix?? If so what was it?? Bottom line, I don’t think I will by another GM. I will be optimistic about their call.

2008 GMC Acadia SLT-2 - I purchased this vehicle a few years ago and absolutely loved it. The timing when the warranty expired and the problems began was very coincidental! Power steering went at 70K miles - had to replace the pump and rack and pinion. The low tire pressure lights keep coming on as well as the check engine light. Now, when stopped at a light, the vehicle feels as though it wants to charge forward and the RPMs run wild. A few times Ive been in the car with my children where it stopped running or wouldnt start and let out a loud noise when I tried to start it. I am a single mom and unfortunately cannot afford these repairs let alone a new car!!! Ive had other problems with the moonroof leaking into the overhead lighting as well. I never thought a car with the price tag that the Acadia comes with would have so many (expensive) issues and so little support from GMC. I currently only have 82K miles on the car, which isnt really that high!

I am a GMC 2008 Acadia owner. I have seen many forums related to the above subject. I am in a very similar situation. I have heard the whine or moan type noise when I would turn the steering wheel. I took my Acadia in the GMC dealer in Merced, CA. They quoted me an outrageous amount of $1,800.00+ to have it fixed. It is out of warranty and I did not have the funds to pay for the work/parts. Now my A/C has went out. I took it in to a local radiator shop and they informed me it was caused by the power steering line making contact with the A/C line and has caused a hole in it. The part for the A/C line is over $700.00. I am at a loss here and have nowhere else to turn to for help on this vehicle. As it stands now, I am currently out of an A/C that was caused by the power steering line. As I understand by reviewing many forums, this is a known issue that many of GMC Acadias have had. Desperately seeking assistance on this from GMC.

Right the first months I had to take it back for 2 issues noticed then: sound/noise heard during cold start and both of the rear interior panels were scuffed. After phone calls and many attempts, these issues were in a way fixed but had to lower my standards. Then, right my very first year of use, the major issues began. The AC (first summer is when I noticed) did not work properly, I live in Vegas with triple digit temperatures during summer, and the ac did not work. Also, the motor started to leak oil. These are the major 2 issues I have had since my first year of owning this LEMON! every year, I have to take it in for the same issues.Just recently called GMC and asked them if they were going to stand behind their product, that they have evidence this vehicle is a LEMON, same issues for the last 4 years in a row now. To not surprise, they are not. They treated me like an idiot, and of course to no surprise, there is nothing they can do for me. Except, oh yeah, they can HELP me with a TRADE!!! It has been weeks waiting for them to call me with a status on my complaint with GMC, and then they had the nerve to call me and advised me of this. This is worse than an insult. Please, do NOT buy ANY GMC, vehicles are expensive as if youre getting the best quality but they are robbing peoples money, please be smart, think what you are buying, do your homework. You can see thousand of complaints just like mine, GMC does not manufacture/sell reliable products/vehicles. They just sell to make money without thinking of what they are selling. Just thinking of sales/numbers for themselves. While we are here making a complaint or reading about it, CEOs are in a gateway with our monies!!! My 2011 Acadia is becoming very expensive to own. At 44k we had to replace both of the front struts. Next we had a bearing problem in the transmission that was covered by warranty. Now a steering issue has started with the dealer advising that the steering gear is leaking fluid into the boots. Estimated repair cost of $1100. This vehicle only has 47k miles on it. This kind of durability is totally unacceptable. I am planning on the purchase of a new truck in 2015; however, I now doubt that I purchase one from General Motors after owning several during the last 20 years.

I own a 2013 GMC Acadia. The issue is this - upon initial start and driving within the first 600 ft there is transmission calibration noises which range from a light bumping noise to a major thud. The other day I was driving most more than 30 km and the transmission make a thud - sounded like I hit a boulder on the road. We immediately pulled the vehicle over to look for an obstruction on the road. There was nothing - not even a pothole.The GMC dealer where we have our vehicle service and was purchased from have not been able to come up with any diagnosis for this problem. They have acknowledged verbal that there is an issue - however the service report comes up clean. What a joke. We paid and are paying real money for this vehicle and it should run properly. Repairs need to be done and yet nothing has been to say Im disappointed is an understatement. It seems to me that the challenges are the fact that no one in North America can actually build a reliable vehicle that will run for longer than a mop head from China. Maybe we should start manufacturing there - at least then we could afford to replace a vehicle every 20 thousand kilometer.

My 2008 GMC Acadia truck is 4 years old and has 56k miles on it. Its very well taken care of. It started making noises while driving so I had it inspected at GMC dealer in Orange, Virginia. A very nice repairman said the steering rack is cracked, but because I dont have a newer model, Acadia, this isnt covered under the 100,000-mile warranty GMC offers. After doing research about this topic, I find dozens of websites with many, many people all having the exact same problem with the exact same model and year Acadia. While I was told that this is a very serious issue, no recall has ever been issued by GMC. However, I was told that GMC is aware of the problem and has re-designed their newer model steering racks. I spoke with GMC headquarters asking for this to be a covered expense so I dont have my two children in danger. The guy on the phone was quite rude and said he has the final authority and he did not approve my request. When I asked if there was someone else I could speak with, I was told that any further communication on this subject would have to be taken outside of GMC and that they would no longer speak on my claims. I was so angry I was speechless. I dont understand how they can claim they know this is serious and know there is a problem but never recall the vehicle! And why is this now a covered warranty repair but it isnt for my vehicle?

For months we were seeing the RPMs running higher than they should. 5000 when trying to pass and they did not release soon after. Took it to dealer several times and they kept making adjustments but nothing changed. On a trip to Ottawa, we were putting gas in when we noticed a burning smell. We took it to a nearby dealership and he was finally able to figure it out. Our rear brakes were seized. After 40,000 km? How could we have prevented this and why didnt the local dealership figure this out before?
