South Korean President Visits America To Seek Help Over Bidens EV Plans

When President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), he also ensured that electric vehicle tax credits will be extended through 2032. As we know, not all EVs on the roster will make the cut and South Korea got a bit mad at the US government over the new tax credit regulations, as it pushed Korea out of the market. Here's how, in brief: Around 20 cars will receive the $7,500 credit because the law stipulates the car has to be assembled in North America. Obviously, that means any EV made by South Korea is excluded, including cars like the Hyundai Ioniq 6 and Kia EV6. So, Korea got vocal. Now, the US will look at how the IRA will affect South Korean carmakers. The nation's national security advisor, Kim Sung-han, spoke to Yonhap, detailing talks with US officials in Hawaii, which included national security advisor Jake Sullivan.

"[Sullivan] said [the US] will take a detailed look at how the EV subsidy issue will pan out going forward, and what impact it will have. He said the IRA is likely to bring more pluses than minuses to Korea, but he would take a closer look at how the electric vehicle subsidy issue will develop going forward and what impact it will have."rnrnEvidently, SK is extremely concerned about being pushed out of a market its companies worked very hard to break into. Korean brands like the Hyundai Motor Company (which includes Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis) are now seen as legitimate competitors in the autos space when they weren't just a decade ago.

South Korean president Yoon Suk-yeol also took time to meet with Arizona Governor Doug Ducey. The president asked for Ducey's cooperation when addressing Korean concerns regarding Biden's new IRA.

"In particular, President Yoon asked that as our firms have large concerns about the recently enacted Inflation Reduction Act, that the state government also make active efforts to ensure our businesses there can receive the same benefits as US firms without discrimination," read the president's statement. The release also added that "President Yoon said that our businesses in the battery and other advanced industry sectors are expanding in Arizona and across the United States and increasing investments, and asked for the interest and support of the US federal government and the state government for these firms."rnGov. Ducey has said he is taking great care in providing support to strengthen his state's cooperation with the Asian nation. For now, it's unclear how other foreign automakers, South Korea included, will choose to handle this new policy. For many, that means shifting battery production to the Americas, thus circumventing the loss of the $7,500 cut.

I am suffering because of my sunroof in my Cerato 2010. I went on 13/10/2011 to the agent in Cairo to fix my sunroof, but till now, they are telling me that the spare part is not found (I think the problem is the roller). I am very frustrated and I hope to fix this problem with an agent in Egypt sooner. Thanks for the help.

I bought a Kia Rio 2010. It only had 50,000 km on it. It was a standard and the first month I bought it, the entire transmission had to be replaced. Then the radio would stop working or my lights would not turn off. My brakes made a screeching sound since day one. Then on September 2nd, 2013, I had a car accident and rear ended a truck and totaled my car. Not one air bag imploded and as a result, I had a concoction and lost consciousness. Not one lawyer in Toronto wants to take my case and Kia has done nothing to help me out or the car insurance.

I purchased a Kia Spectra from Enterprise Car Sales in Rockville Center NY. The first week of purchase, the car died. I come to find out it was the alternator. Enterprise/Kia Auto World at 2520 Hempstead Tpke East Meadow NY 11554 (mechanic: Rich; contact person: Jamie), replaced the alternator. Nine months later, the alternator goes again. The car was taken to Hillside Kia 153 12 Hillside Ave., Jamaica NY 11432. THEY replaced the alternator. Nine months later, the alternator went again and I took the car to a mechanic on Merrick Blvd. on 109 St. Jamaica, NY because it was out of the warranty and AGAIN the alternator was replaced. Today 8/23/11, the alternator went again. I felt that the car that was sold to me from the start was a lemon and I was looking to pay this car off BUT now i feel that I have been taken advantaged of as a consumer and I am looking for assistance as a consumer from your agency.

I was driving into town to get gas before heading to work. I ran out of gas, called my roadside assistance, had them come give me fuel, tried starting it, and the roadside assistance person thought the battery was dead, and put a charger on it, and it still wouldnt start, and was recommended to have it towed, which I did. I called my mechanic at noon, to find out it had no oil, and the engine was seized. When I went to the shop there were no codes that pulled and I had no lights on the dash, no oil light, no check engine, etc. The mechanic actually had to show me where the oil light was, as it is right next to the low fuel light - I would have noticed it. Ive spoken to Kia who says there have been no issues with the 2012 Kia Sorento, but I beg to differ. I believe the sensor or fuse for the oil light had to have been malfunctioning, which led to my vehicle running out of oil, unlike Kia who suggested it was due to negligent maintenance on my part.

Thinking it was normal warranty work, I went to Pence KIA to get my 2010 Kia Soul (with a little over 30,000 miles) have its rear wiper motor looked at for a grinding noise it was making. I was told that it was an adjustment and lubrication issue and is not warranty covered. KIA installed a motor on the car with admitted insufficient grease inside the motor and would be deemed a defective manufacturing issue. Now, they do not want to honor their obligation under their warranty saying it is an adjustment and lubrication issue, which I need to pay for. Below is the TBS issued by KIA where they admit to insufficient grease inside the wiper motor.“Visibility: rear window wiper/washer: Kia: service action - rear wiper squeal noise repair (sa026). Provides information relating to some vehicles that may experience a rear wiper squeal noise when operating. This concern is due to insufficient grease inside the rear wiper motor. 2010 Kia Soul Technical Service Bulletin 2010/01/01 NHTSA #: 10033669, Service Bulletin #: TSB-054.”

Not even the extended warranty I purchased, at the time I purchased vehicle. Man was I ripped off. Be careful when and if you purchase a Kia! For myself, its the last Kia I will ever own, and this latest incident has motivated me to get rid of this asap.

I took my brand new Kia 2013 (purchased in October 2012) in because I noticed peeling paint and rust spots. They had me bring it in numerous times, took pictures, etc. to only be told that it was my fault. They said the rust looks like a rock hit it, and the peeling paint must be from someone getting in and out of the car. They told us that our paint and corrosion warranty didnt cover this. The car is brand new and we dont drive too far in it. I also keep our cars very clean, both inside and outside. My husband works from home and I work 5 minutes from home so there is no excessive use in our car. Even if there was, there is no way this should happen. I purchased a 2004 Nissan Altima in February of 04 and just sold it in June. It had no paint issues nor rust. Also, the city gas mileage isnt what they advertise and we told them about that. They simply said, there are no current recalls. Also, when we start the car first time of the day and reverse, it makes a grinding noise. I told them about this, they checked it out 3 times now, and said they cant reproduce the sound. Also, when we bought the car, we asked for a 3rd spare key. The saleswoman said this would be no problem. We called, emailed, and showed up in person and each time were told that it would be sent to us. This began in October of 2012 when we bought it and it is now August 2013 and we have never received a key. They literally begged us for a great review when we bought the car and we gave it to them because there were no issues immediately. They raved how their customer support was top of the line, I DISAGREE! I plan on pursuing my complaints with the BBB, local news, consumer reports, and via word of mouth.

I purchased new First Edition Kia EV6. The first editions came with a free home charger. Unfortunately, it was not with car when I drove it off the lot and the dealership had no clue on how to get it or even what the process was. I have contacted Kia corporate twice with no help and even contacted the company that is supposed to ship it with no help. No one at the dealership or at Kia has any definitive info on this program. Buyers of the EV 6 are left with being able to charge their cars at home. It’s an egregious process and someone at Kia needs to step up and give customers valid information.

I have a leased Kia Soul with just over 10K miles. Oil changed and not even darkened. Was driving to pick my son up in WVa. From home, a 6 hour ride. Picked him up, stopped, got a bite to eat and headed back to NC. Drove an additional 2 hours. Engine just stopped. Left my son and I stranded in middle of nowhere in WVa. Car was towed to dealer in Charleston where I have been told I must have struck something in the rode. Busted radiator! I never hit a damn thing not even a pot hole! Had to get a rental to get back to NC. I have no eyes on the damage. Asked for pix and have received none to date. Does the term rip off mean anything? The first service manager stated they saw no damage of anything being struck... Now the second one says yes! This is crap! Now my insurance says they may not pay to have the motor repaired/replaced. So I may have a car that Im paying a monthly rental fee on that doesnt run! What happens when the rental agreement expires?

My daughter was driving a 2005 Kia Sorento on the freeway when you got off an exit and just when she did she lost power steering, brake light and oil light went on. Luckily she had just got off the freeway or it could have been a very bad outcome. I am trying to find anyone who may have had a problem with this during the 2017 year (but missed the class action suit). I called Kia consumer line and they were nice at first. As soon the a case manager got my case, she completely back peddled and told me not only do I have to tow it, I have to pay for the diagnostics as well and probably to fix it too since its passed the warranty.I cant find a recall on the crank shaft pulley but I heard there was a voluntary recall. If anyone received a letter from Kia about the crank shaft bolt or anything similar for their Kia Sorento please let me know. I need something to hold them accountable. Just like many other forums Ive seen, they are washing their hands off it. Also willing to start a lawsuit with others as well.

My lease expired a few weeks ago. I owed money for the mileage. I tried to pay it online and it told me it would not allow me to pay my mileage through my online account. Which seems very odd to me but I called the number was on hold a longtime continually listening to the same message telling me to go online which was very annoying. I get a lady on the phone whos reading me verbatim all these things acting like Im a year overdue when in fact Im not late at all on this payment. Shes telling me shes trying to collect a debt. Im trying to nicely to interrupt her and tell her I know thats why Im calling to pay my bill. She proceeded to tell me how rude I was being and that Im not letting her finish. There was nothing to finish, I was not past due so she needed to stop treating me like I have poor credit. I tried to pay the mileage with my credit card which they said they cannot accept a credit card payment. Which to me money is money it should not matter. They are not willing to work with you. They are not willing to be friendly. I have never been a day late on a 3.5 year lease. I would stay away from Kia Finance at all costs. If I would have known what I know now I would have gone through my own bank. Do not buy a Kia.

We purchased a brand new KIA two years ago. Long story short, the engine failed and we were told it needed to be replaced. They said it was our fault due to lack of maintenance, and were requested to provide ALL oil change receipts. We could not come up with ALL of them, and lost the battle. However, that is a separate issue. The customer service is what I am so very disappointed in. The reason is that for over six months now, we have had trouble with this car. Yes, they are saying its our fault, but the disappointment (besides the outcome) is that NO ONE has ever ONCE called us back when they said they would, nor followed up when they said they would. Not even apology has been given once for this. In addition, I was treated as if I were a liar by being told I find it hard to believe on their end when I would plead my case regarding what I had been told. Sometimes you have to learn the hard way I suppose. I have names, but I am going to take the high road as much as I want to publicize that information. I would advise against ever purchasing a KIA:(

Got a used 2013 Kia Soul with 47000 miles on it. I am really surprised about the underwhelming gas mileage. I thought they had downgraded the MPG but they should be downgrading it further to 20 mpg in the city and 23 on the hwy. I am getting a consistent 20-21 ON ECO DRIVE, with city/hwy combined, pretty bad. After reading the reviews of people getting even less than that, even more unacceptable. I thought I would have this car for a while but am already considering selling it (I will definitely be blogging about the bad gas mileage because other people need to know before buying a Soul. Kia just straight up is still lying/exaggerating the mileage of this vehicle). After some research regarding fuel economy on the Soul, it seems that Kia was called out due to their claims that it got better mileage. I see that Kia did a lifetime reimbursement program for owners of Kia Souls from 2011-2013, but apparently no one is getting their settlements because there are some appeals. So maybe it is not so voluntary?

I have a 2015 Kia K 900. It was 8 months since I purchased from Kia Escondido, I had about 5k miles on it when I was hit on the driver side at the rear quarter panel/back passenger door. I was pushed into a center divide and my entire front Qtr Panel and front end was demolished. NOT 1 AIRBAG DEPLOYED!! I called Kia and their engineers went out to study/test/read the circuit board to get all logistics at time of impact. They went to investigate the car more than once (car was at the auto body shop) and Kia would not release the car to been inspected by my Mercury Insurance to assess damage. The car sat at Tag Collision center for 51 days before they let Mercury assess the damage. The car was totaled out by Mercury and the engineers from Kia said that the airbags did not deploy because there were not enough factors involved for them to deploy. I personally was more concerned that considering where and how I was hit that if I had passengers in the back seat that there would have been skulls hitting the door window (place of impact). I figured that Kia would want to know in case they needed to do a recall on the K 900s to protect lives in future accidents. Kia did not allow me to see the report or tell me exactly what factors were involved to as why the airbags did not deploy. But the whole thing raised a red flag when they kept telling Mercury that the car was not ready to be inspected??? Im just a puzzled and concerned consumer who received no answers but instead a big storage bill from Tag Collision, no thanks to Kias control of when Mercury Insurance could do their job in a timely manner. Kia offered to sell me another K 900 but I just cant considering I would not feel safe or maybe be as lucky to escape injury if I were to get into another accident where if the airbags did not deploy and was extremely hurt instead of protected. This is for Kia to take notice and for there to be a record that Kia not only knew of this airbag situation but that there was an investigation done and a report on file (just in case there are future issues with consumers regarding this topic).

I went to South Shore Kia on 2/3/18 after waiting over a week for an appointment. My driver’s side indicator stays lit even when the car is turned off. I got there and I had to sign for a 169.99 diagnostic fee. I asked about my warranty and the service employee said they have to look it up. At this time no one told me the warranty expired less than 1 month ago. I get a call 3 hrs later stating they have to charge me another diagnostic fee which would be 169.99 because they were not certain of what was wrong. Four hours later when I did not get a call I called in to ask what had happened and they stated they would get back to me. Another hour goes by and I receive a call that they fixed the harness in my Sorento but it didnt fix the issue, then proceeded to explain what I needed. I immediately called my husband who went down to the dealership. Like magic when he asked to see the part they fixed and why they were charging 2 diagnostic fees and 169.99 an hour YES an hour, the bill amazingly shrunk from almost 1400.00 to 185.00. If I would have went down there they would have taken 1400 dollars from me because I didnt know about cars. My Sorento is still not fixed as I now have to pay out of pocket for everything as my warranty is up. And as per Jacob at Kia Consumer Affairs I was told when I bought the vehicle when the warranty would end and they do not have to send me any notification. They do not have to respond to my complaint but it will be addressed, somehow. So I have to fix my car which I had for less than 2 years with NO WARRANTY. Also Kia Sorentos do not have fuses so something as simple as a headlight or indicator that needs to be fixed cost over 800 dollars as I need a body control module (computer) to work headlights. I may not fix cars but how is this affordable for anyone? I believe this is the only car made this way. Are we still in the 50s and 60s. When will companies be penalized for this type of behavior? I am appalled and saddened that I have to include a man in my affairs because I am not equal. And for headquarters each Kia is a independent franchise so they are not responsible for the dealerships behavior.

Bought a used Kia Sorento 2014 from the dealership back on January 2016. Sometime in December 2016 started having problems with the doors not locking. Did not have chance to bring it to the dealer to check until February. Apparently, something is wrong with one of the Fuse and they need to replace the entire Junction box. I thought this would be a manufacturing problem and it will be covered by Kia. Unfortunately, it is not and the cost would be $875.00. Warranty is over 1 year so it will not be covered. On top of that, the dealer charged me an additional $120 because I also mentioned to check the rear view camera because it stopped working.A word of advice, Kia will charge you an extra diagnostic fee for every problem you want them to check. Tell me if this is not a rip off. Unable to do the repairs because the cost is too high so my doors do not lock and my rear camera is not working. I would never purchase another Kia and would not recommend it to anyone.

Nov. to next Jan. is a good time for car buying, since automakers will put more incentive/rebates on new cars. But not every brand is honest with customers. In particular, as a recent buyer with PAINFUL experience, I recommend: stay away from KIA, if you look for non-cheating rebates. This is based on my painful car buying experience from KIA (it is not dealers issue, but just KIAs issue). To summarize the experience, I felt I was unfairly treated, discriminated or even insulted by KIA, who in the end took away rebate written in the car contract that I signed 3 weeks ago. Basically, the car I have already put >500 miles, But then KIA told me that I am suddenly not qualified for their rebate and I should come back to pay more). My detailed story was below. (I will post this to major auto websites to help buyers avoid painful experience of mine. Any question, please email me at **).I signed the contract and obtained a new KIA Niro 2017 on 11/24/2017 (Black Friday), attracted by low price with KIA rebate. I am a recent grad, with diploma dated on 09/2016, during that time I was with my F1 student visa (this matters). After graduation, I obtained EAD (employment authorization card granted by US government) and worked in the same university I studied. Basically, I have a work permit to be employed and my contract is annually signed due to nature of research task. ( this matters for KIA). My credit score ~790, with annual salary > 70K. With those info. I was qualified for KIA rebate (1000 dollar) and final price of the car is around 24K, checked by KIA and KIA dealer before we signed contract. I put 10K as down payment, leaving 14K as 4-years auto loan with KIA per rebates policy.I thought everything should work as the signed contract. However, from Dec. 4 the dealer contacted me for my visa and EAD, per KIAs requirement. I feel strange but I try to work with them so I send out my F1 visa and current EAD (C09 category) that my employer has on file. I even emailed my position/annual pay from HR, and leave contact of my employer HR so that they can verify files. Now KIA finance begins to send ridiculous statements like: Contract Returned (Unable to accept Employment Auth Card, Must have Visa) 1. Visa submitted expired 10.03.2014 - Not valid... acceptable visas H-1B, H-1B1, L-1, TN, O1, E1, E2, E3 2. We will need employer letter stating they will request reinstatement due to applicants Visa expired 10/3/2014.There are two hidden rules or tricks from KIA that they can not give me rebate: KIA does not accept my Employment Auth Card (EAD). They keep looking at my expired F1-visa but ignore my current EAD. They want me to have a visa in THEIR list, which is only a small portion of valid EAD from the US governments. (https://save.uscis.gov/web/media/resourcesContents/EAD_Code_Table.pdf). I wonder, if US government grants me EAD for work and I indeed got employed with a good salary (70K annually for 14K loan in 4 years), then Kias policy is a discrimination. Moreover, Kia is also ignorant, as visa does not mean you could work legally (like F-1 ), instead EAD is standard work permit. I and my employer felt very sad when KIA keep asking us valid visa and ignore my EAD.KIA could not finance with me under 4 years, as my current employer only sign a one-year contact. I need to have a employment with a 4-year contract from CURRENT employer AND 4-year valid visa (they do not say EAD). This is truly ridiculous. If 4-year finance requires: 4-year employment contract with the same current company, who can be qualified, given the uncertainty of many jobs? Dealer and I tried to satisfy this unfair KIAs requirement. After talking with KIA (from dealer), one way for me is to bug my HR +boss to write a letter stating that: they have a good intention to hire me for 4 years.I did that and my HR finally agreed to work on this. However, I was later told that even with the letter I still can not have the rebate, because my EAD (KIA always asked visa) was unaccepted, and I need to reinstate a 4-year valid visa in KIAs list by me or my employer. I felt truly insulted as KIA implied that they did not consider my employment as normal or even legal. My HR felt very unhappy, and asked me to leave KIA, why not choose other brand, like HONDA?. Unfortunately, I did not have choice since I drove the car for 3 weeks, returning the car will be very unfair/impossible to dealer. In the meantime, I tried to get KIA finance contact and talked to them directly. From the dealer, I got number and called KIA finance: 1866-337-5632. After reporting my case number: **, I was told that KIA finance would not talk with me directly, and they asked me to contact dealer. They just ignore my request. In the end, I and dealer have to take care about the extra money due to the loss of KIA rebate. I, dealer, even my employer, all harmed and felt this is unfair from KIA. I feel I am discriminated or insulted from the whole process. KIAs hidden rules on the rebate was a cheating and dishonest trick on customer or even KIA dealership. If one seeks honest rebate/incentive, stay away from KIA, and look at other brands (there are so many). If you insist on KIA, think about their two after-contract hidden rules/traps (that is after your employment/salary + credit score satisfies and contracted was signed) that I encountered: 4-year finance? OK, then do you have proof of 4-years of employment from your current job? Working on visa/EAD? OK, do you have current 4-year valid visa (not EAD) that must be in KIAs list? Other conditions (waiting to see other customers posting...)? Feel free to forward my experience to other potential autobuyers so that they do not have to experience I experienced.

If youre thinking of buying a Stinger...DONT! Multiple defects, 4 recalls ALREADY, rust coming through paint and chrome. All around bad decision when I bought this car. Save the hassle, save your money and buy a different brand of car. Managers and service department cannot seem to communicate so Im hiring an attorney to get my money back for this overpriced piece of metal. Paint job really sucks. I have cracked paint from front windshield to back windshield and was told not to wash the car! Are you kidding me? Most expensive car Ive ever owned and I cant even wash it?! Im so done! I want my money back!

It started on Wednesday Sept 3, 2014, my Kia was lacking its get up and go. I called the dealership and told them that my car was running rough and had a hard time starting but no warning lights. They were able to see me the following Monday. According to the diagnostic test nothing was wrong but that the oil was in rough shape. I told them keep looking. After further review they determined that the fuel pump was bad. They replaced it and I picked it up on Wednesday. I only drove about 2 miles and could tell that the car was still not running right. I called the shop when I got home but they were already closed for the day so I called right away Thursday morning. They got me in right away and called me about 4 hours later letting me know that the Turbo was burnt out and that I needed to show proof of oil changes since I purchased the car (2 1/2 years ago!). I am still fighting this, I cant find all my receipts. I may find myself stuck with a car that only has 38K miles and a payment but not a car that can be driven. What kind of company is Kia? Neither the engine or oil light NEVER came on ---EVER! Yet if I dont find evidence of enough satisfactory oil changes (they say 8) then the warranty is void!! This is crazy --- does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks.

Bought my 2015 Kia Sorento in March of 2017 and have had problems with it pretty much right away. Started with my key fob. The driver door does not recognize my key fob and I have to either open the passenger door to unlock my car or hit the fob multiple times before the drivers door opens. Ive replaced the batteries and it hasnt helped. My alternator dies at 66K miles, which I thought was ridiculous. I called Kia to see if they would grant any good will since I was out of warranty and they did nothing. Claimed they couldnt help since I was the 2nd owner. In my opinion, it shouldnt matter if Im the 2nd or 5th owner. The car only had 66k miles on it and the car was bought from a Kia Dealership in Buford, GA. From a dealership, it wasnt a private sale. No reason other than Kia is garbage that an alternator should die at 66k miles. And now, my window doesnt work. I rolled down the passenger side window this morning and it wont go back up. Im bringing it somewhere to get it looked at, not Kia. It looks like the motor is no good. Of course it is, its a Kia. Well, Ive learned my lesson with Kia cars and hope you will learn from this review. DO NOT BUY KIA!

I have been driving a 2009 Kia Spectra for about two years now. The carpet gets wet every time it rains & there are puddles under the doors. I also noticed a sloshing sound when I drive coming from under the car. I took it to Castruccis Kia dealership in Miamisburg Ohio to have the leak checked out. They said they tried to get water into the car by putting it in the car wash but it did not leak. They replaced the seals anyway but they obviously replaced the wrong ones because water is still getting into the car soaking the carpet causing mold to grow. I also noticed that the car is lunging forward and racing when I come to a stop sometimes. Castruccis refuses to fix the problem with my car & will not return my calls. Does anyone else have problems like this with their Kia? I did see on another website that a few others were having similar problems & it was not just with Spectras.

I had the worst experience having a Kia car. This was my first time I chose Kia because I liked the car that I was going to lease. The previous two cars that I drove were Toyota and they never ever gave me problems that usually an older car gives (one Problem on top of another). Imagine you trust the company, you get a brand new car thinking that “hey it’s a new car. I’m not going to have all the problems that old cars give and then one day you wake up, your car is not starting, the next day brake lights don’t work, the following week another problem comes up.And my car was a 2018 car and it’s 2019 now and then you call them. They keep transferring you to different departments not willing to take responsibility and ownership that you could be that one in a 1 million customers that had all these different problems with the car and maybe we can take care of you somehow. I would NOT recommend getting a Kia if you want to lease a NEW car. It was my first experience and the worst one and when you know the company doesn’t want to take responsibility for it, it’s even worse and not worth your time or your money!!!

I leased a 2019 Stinger GT after turning in my Optima a year early. I leased the car on 12/18/18. Within the first 30 days my rear defroster made a popping noise and shorted out. I took it back to the dealership and they supposedly fixed the issue. On May 14th on my way into work the car made the same noise. I called the dealership to have it looked at again. I got into my car after work, within a few minutes I could smell smoke and pulled over on the side of the highway. I opened the hatchback to see the rear defroster compartment melted away and then flames shot out of the hole. Within 4 minutes the car burned down to the frame. A formal investigation was completed with my insurance company, Kia, and the NHTSA.Kia accepted responsibility for the fire. They bought the car back from the insurance to hide a fatal flaw in the car. After weeks of failing to return numerous calls and emails to Kia attempting to understand what the next steps are, we finally received a call stating that they were willing to reimburse us for the contents in the car- WHICH THEY HAVE to do. After several more phone calls and emails, a supposed manager named Jeff **. contacted us (of course they have no email address, last name or phone number). After going back and forth he offered to refund us the $2000 we put down on the car only 5 months earlier stating it was the cost of ownership! After asking we found out that if we accepted, we would have signed off our rights to any future actions. The fire department told me the only thing that saved my life was that I can a full tank of gas so it did not blow cause of the lack of fumes. I was minutes away from picking my 6 year old daughter from school. The fire started right under where her booster seat was. Do not buy this car as it can easily kill you.

Upon researching the web this evening, I find this is far from a one only problem they lied about that also. I bought a 2007 Kia Sorento off the showroom floor, and it has been good mechanically. Kia of Vero Beach has been the only one to service the vehicle. The problem is that there is a noise when it shifts gears and it is getting worse. I went to the dealership and asked the service manager, Mr. Danny **, to have them look at it to clear the noise. He informed me I would have to pay for them to analyze the problem, which is clearly under warranty. I refused to do so and the problem still has not been resolved. This is not right, and I will not purchase another Kia or recommend them at any of my functions in Vero - just the opposite.

Was sold at an Auction for 10,000 as when it shot back out of driveway it had only done 11,000 Km so it looks good but the car is a killer. It will do the same to someone else. I am a dissatisfied owner of a 2014 Kia Soul. July 4, 2015 I purchased a used 2014 Kia Soul with 4200 miles on it. June 2017 the engine blew up with 62261 miles on it. At this time I found out that there is NOT a 100000-mile powertrain warranty because I am the second owner. They dont tell you that when you buy it. I contacted Kia warranty service to submit my claim. Long story short, Kia not covering engine replacement because it is out of second owner power train warranty. I Had to pay to install a new long block engine into the Soul at the Kia dealership. $4322.00 for the engine and installation. Kia could not tell me what the mileage was when the Soul went into Service but only the date. According to Kia warranty, the second owner is 5 year 60,000 mile warranty from day and current mileage. So if my Soul had 2262 miles on it when it went into service, then my warranty would be to 62262 miles. Kia did not want to even talk about this. Just basically said, Sorry for your bad luck. Next I was told to file an complaint and I will be doing just that. It was determined at the dealership the failure was due to a blown head gasket which in turn allowed engine coolant to get into the #2 cylinder which caused the engine to lock up. Also the engine was free of any oil sludge and nothing was found to be neglected as far as maintenance. An engine head gasket should not blow on a well-maintained engine. Funny thing at the dealership when my engine arrived from their distribution center, I was told I was 4th in line to have an engine installed. Gee. Sounds like Kia has an engine failure problem. Guess they are not paying for anyones repairs!!! Poor customer satisfaction. Oh and Scott who I spoke with from Kia about the warranty, if you read this, this is not the way life is, consumers should not have to worry about their engine failing and be without a ride to work for 6 weeks and have to deal with arrogant warranty customer service person. My son has a Nissan with 145000 miles and it has only been to dealership for regular scheduled maintenance. Guess I will need to trade this Kia on a Nissan.

Kia produces an modern attractive array of vehicles at a lower price point than its competitors. My Cadenza is loaded with safety features and the latest technology available. It was priced below similarly featured imports in its class. Reliability is weakness for Kia. My 2 year old Cadenza has been serviced 3 times for major repairs. The warranty is excellent and covered all my cost for service, but could not compensate me for my inconvenience. Resale value is another factor that hurts Kia. Similar Toyotas, Hondas, and Subarus are superior in holding their value. Kias just dont seem to age well. Based on features and overall cost, I would recommend leasing a Kia for 3 years. I would not recommend buying The Kia Cadenza.

She then called the dealership here in Utah and they told her the same thing. They gave her a customer service number. When she called it, they immediately knew the part number. After she gave this to the dealership, they told her it would take 5 weeks to get it from Korea! She once again called the dealership where she purchased the car, In Salt Lake City, Utah, and they offered no help at all! They told her she is basically stuck in Redding CA for at least 5 weeks, or she could chance it and cross the 500 miles of desert between Reno and her home here in Utah... KIA IS A JOKE! The car was sitting in my daughters driveway. When she went out to leave her house she got in and prior to starting the car she heard a large bang and then the left front tire went flat within seconds. AMA were called to attend and replace the tire with the spare. The AMA towing operator was unable to remove the tire as the exploded spring portion was embedded in the sidewall of the tire. The car was towed to Big O Tires in Westbank BC where they removed the tire and discovered the coil spring sticking through the tire. Thank God for BIG O as Kia would not do a thing. The car is 2010 and was out of warranty and although the part failed in a very premature period the KIA people were impossible to deal with. They said I could send the car to them and they would replace the springs at a cost of approx $860.00. There is no way I could even consider sending the car to them as they were not even concerned about the potential for injury or death relating to an in motion failure of this nature. There is no way that this is the first failure of this kind for them and for me to allow them to replace the springs with a product that displayed this type of failure was not going to happen. Bottom line DONT BUY A KIA. They are rude and dont care enough to address serious problems that could have cost my daughter her life. There will never be another KIA in our household and hope others will follow. My daughter had just moved to Kelowna to attend school and thankfully the spring did not fail while going through the mountains.

I took my 2015 Kia Rio into the dealership to have an electrical issue with my front passenger turn signal taken care of and was told that because the headlight assembly was cracked from the INSIDE, it was not covered under warranty. Now, I dont trust these weasels one iota, so I went in and look at this purported damage myself. What I found was a small crack in the plastic INSIDE of a capped off port, alongside a missing turn signal electrical contact. They claim that this damage indicates user fault and isnt covered under warranty. They further explained that because the car has damage on the front bumper (which is actually a minuscule scratch on the right wheel well that doesnt even reach the headlight) this indicates that impact damage was the probable cause. Now tell me, even if I somehow managed to hit something and miraculously avoid any damage to my front bumper or headlight or grill or anything else in the vicinity of the headlight assembly save for the aforementioned tiny scratch, how in the hell would I then have impacted hard enough to crack a tiny piece of plastic nestled deep inside of an assembly? No, the more logical conclusion is that this is a cheap piece of ** part on a cheap piece of ** car that this cheap piece of ** company will do anything to avoid having to own up to and pay for. Id recommend coughing up for a more quality vehicle from a more reputable and consumer friendly automaker. As it has become clear to me, KIA is neither of those things.

To understand this KIA dealership in Burton UK, I need to back up a bit. I
To understand this KIA dealership in Burton UK, I need to back up a bit. I saw a car on the internet and arranged to view it. On the agreed day I checked to make sure that he car was still available and they said yes. I set off by train from Coventry UK. I had to change at Birmingham UK to catch a train to Burton. At Birmingham I got a call to say that the car has been sold. This sets the background to my subsequent dealings with KIA in Burton. They apologized and promised to let me have first look at another car. (With hindsight, I should have declined.)I did look at another car, the salesman told me that the car had had only one previous owner who gave up the car because he had epilepsy. We negotiated and agreed on a price based on what I had seen of the car and what I was told. He told me that (1) the car will be checked over and serviced (2) I will have two year free service in 2015 and 2016. When I received my V5C form from DVLA, it had two previous owners. I sent a text on 17/11/14 to the salesman and he did not reply to my query that he told me the car had only one previous owner from October 63. He did not reply. One morning as I was driving along the road I found that my windscreen washer had frozen. The temperature was barely -1 deg Celsius. When it thawed, I noticed that instead of the normal windscreen solution, it was pure water. Alarm bells started ringing. I checked the Service book and it was not stamped. I then wondered why the boot light has never come on.I wrote with a list of complaints to the CEO of KIA including that the car had not been serviced. My complaint was passed on to the customer services department saying that the garage was only obliged to top up the windscreen washer (with water by implication) and not to introduce a solution that lowered the freezing temperature of the windscreen washer. I found that astonishing. On the question of previous owners, because I had no documentary or audio evidence to support what I claimed was the gist of the conversation, that was dismissed. Apparently the bulb in the boot and had burnt out from use... by whom I wondered? They asked me to return the service book so that they will stamp it. I refused. I asked whether the two year verbal agreement on servicing the car still holds. No reply. I am intending to send it for servicing and bill the garage and if they refuse to pay, Ill try the small claims court. I paid for the car based on the information given to me which they deny. What should I do? Can I ask for my money back or reach some form of compromise? I also tend to write to KIA in Korea to complain. I suggested to the customer services that the point that the service book was not stamped is evidence that it was not serviced. There was no counter argument. The scan of the service document carried out had no page number so it could have been written any time. What can/shall I do? Anyone have the address of KIA in Korea?

I will start off with what everyone is thinking when reading these... Yes, I am only writing this because I am angry and if my experience was just normal I would probably not write anything, but they earned this. I am currently going through the passing of my mom and all the challenges that come with it. I returned her leased car 2 months early, even though she has multiple letters offering her deals to bring her car back early because it is in demand. Then I receive the bill in the mail weeks later advising she owes $950 for returning the car early and $65 for wear and tear which just seems made up. I attempted to discuss with them, but they said they would not talk to me if I am not on the account. I got the email to send the proof of what happened and sent in what was necessary. I sent it 3 times without any action. I called and finally got the one helpful person to help me with submitting these documents. A few days later I got a letter saying sorry for my loss and asking me what I plan on doing with the car. How is this not a joke? They had the car for over a month. I submitted a complaint to Kia America and after passing the 48 hour waiting period, I heard nothing. I just submitted an updated complaint as I just got another letter in the mail for my mom, thanking her for returning her car and another bill, as if they never interacted with me before. I guess they are playing ignorant to get to the strategy of what one of their workers said, Why dont you just ignore it for 120 days and then it will just go to collections. Thank you Kia, thank you for absolutely no help and adding more stress to the most stressful and sad time of my life.

My car was booked in for a noise in the engine on 3rd Nov 2015. Heard nothing for 2 days even after leaving numerous messages as the lady dealing with it was either away from her desk, on a call or busy with other clients. Eventually got a call late Wednesday afternoon advising that they needed to strip the crankshaft which would cost R2300.00. I advised that I would check with my husband and call them back. When attempting to call them back late Wed afternoon no one answered the phone. I then received a call Thursday pm to confirm that could go ahead with the job. I confirmed it was okay. I heard nothing on Friday and when phoning Friday pm, none of my calls were returned. By now I was extremely peed off. I eventually got my husband to go to Kia Tokai to check on the progress of my vehicle. When he arrived the ladys attitude was, Why have you come to see your vehicle? He was then shown the problem with the vehicle and the mechanic explained what needed to be done, we were offered 2 options costing R3700 or R20 000. We agreed to the R3700. Were then told the parts could only be ordered from JHB on the Monday 9th. We then received no update on our car at all. I then tried to speak to the manager of Kia Tokai who was in a meeting when I called at 9 am on Thursday. 12th Nov. I called throughout the morning and left 3 messages in total. He never returned any of my calls. Eventually the service manager called me to enquire what my complaint was. I explained the whole story to him and he was going to check on my car and call me back. Surprise, surprise he did not call back. I eventually called him again at 3:30 pm. This is what I was then told: yes the part had arrived but did I not know that it can take 3-4 days for a part to arrive? How would I know this? They now need to check if the part is compatible with my vehicle, come on, get real. Do you not know what part to order? I must be patient and wait because while my car has been at their workshop they have booked other cars in as well which will be worked on first, dont I realise that the job on my car is a big one. How would I know this, I am not a mechanic. Am I not a client? Are some clients given special treatment? Yes my car is not under warranty anymore (was bought from this branch in April 2012) but I am a paying customer. By this time I was fed up and asked to speak to the manager again. I was put through to reception, who advised me to pls hold as he was on a call. I was placed on hold 3 times. The service manager then came onto the phone saying the manager was in a meeting and if my car could not be fixed by close of business Friday 13th then they would organise a car for me to use. What rubbish! I feel that I was put on hold so that the service manager could speak to the manager first. Was he really on a call or in a meeting because reception says his on a call and the service manager says he is in a meeting. What kind of manager does not take responsibility for his workshop and staff?Yes I understand that parts come from JHB, yes I understand that some jobs take time, but is it not possible for a person to keep a client updated as to what is happening to their car especially if it takes 11 days without a result. It is now 2:30 pm on Friday 13th November and to date no car, no call! Would never take my car back there again (if & when I get it back). Would never recommend Kia Tokai to anyone as I would not want them to have to endure such incompetence.

My girlfriend has a 2012 KIA Sorento. After 40000 miles the engine seized.
My girlfriend has a 2012 KIA Sorento. After 40000 miles the engine seized. We brought it to the dealer and they asked for service records. When we provided them they still would not honor the warranty. They said it could be improper maintenance and said we had to prove it was their fault. (Since we had gone to Firestone and a few other places for oil changes, they can now say it was their fault not KIAs and we would then have to fight a different vendor to replace the engine.)I was initially too shocked to be angry, but when they said we could pay them to take apart the motor to prove fault, I spoke to another mechanic who has dealt with this before. He said they are not likely to find anything that will prove anything either way and we will just be out an additional 500 dollars. I am now taking the only recourse I have without money for a lawyer. I am telling every outlet I can find to go with a different company. This feels like fraud to me. We did what was asked of us in the handbook and they just dont want to honor their warranty. It never says anywhere that if you dont use KIA for everything, you might as well write off your warranty. So now we are stuck without a car and with a probable 5K cost facing us because we did the right thing. It is not honest or fair that a car from 2012 with 40K miles has a dead engine. There are plenty of reviews about this type of thing on the internet. I recommend you look long and hard before falling for the same trick we did. We probably wont have a choice since there are still 3 years on the note so we cant really do anything but let them bully us. Please consider any other car before KIA. #dontbuyKIA #KIA

Bought new Kia Soul 2014. Very hard to see out of when I am changing lanes. The wide right rear panel block view. I have had starting problems since October 2015. I never go anywhere without my jumper cables. In November 2015 I had to leave the car at dealership for 3 days so they could try to figure out the problem. They decided I needed a new battery. I am still having starting problems. I brought the car in last month they said there is no problem. Yesterday had to have it jumped 3 times. Im disgusted.

2008 Sorento - Kia is just trying to wait me out on the warranty! I had it in four times on two different dealers. They replaced the hub but not the compressor and thats what is bad. Im within 6,000 of the end of the warranty. I have no doubt after reading all the other complaints about this year and the A/C problem that once Im over the 60,000, then they will say it needs to be replaced. I will never buy another Kia. A warranty is only as good as what they will back up and how well they honor it!

Kia Stinger GT-2 is competing well with sport type BMW and Audi vehicles for about 2/3 of the price. It is high performance throughout- high horsepower dual turbos, higher torque, five driving modes that alter engine and suspension parameters, 8-speed transmission, AWD with a 60/40 split favoring the rear wheels, deluxe Merlot leather interior, all available safety features, and a Harman Kardon 650 watt 15 speaker stereo to boot. However, road tests reveal 0-60 mph in 4 seconds or less and its speed limited to 188 mph contrary to the manufacturers numbers. Also, its three grand to replace the monitor, etc. and labor rates at dealerships are usually $120/hour or higher. Nevertheless, I love driving it and am learning the features rather quickly as they are quite intuitive and the manuals quite helpful. I opted for the extended bumper to bumper 10 year/100,000 mile warranty because of the heavy reliance on complex computer and electronic technology.

I have a 2018 Kia Sportage that has air vents peeling. I went to the Kia dealership and was hoping that the warranty would cover this fix, but that was not the case. The Kia dealership told me the vents peeling is the cause of the chemical reaction with the product that I was using. I have detailed my cars since the beginning of time...and have sworn by Meguiars Supreme Shine. I still do, and I am certain it is crappy vent material that Kia has.I contacted Meguiars and their customer service said that all their products are water based and it is impossible for this to happen. I have used the Supreme Shine on all the rubber/plastic material and nothing happened to the rest of the interior, except the air vents. So, I called Kia Consumer Assistance Center and Lisa answered... Hoping to see if they will stand behind their product and find the solution. Lisa said for me to go to other dealerships and hopefully get them to find a solution in my favor. The worst customer service and the worst product on the market. The warranty they offer is fake and unworthy.

Multiple Issues on 2004 Sedona - Lets see where to begin. I bought it new for $15k. Well equipped with lots of stuff standard. I suppose this lures most people in along with the 100k warranty. Within the first 1,000 miles, the starter went out. Infamous brake issues started around 12k. We have replaced the rotors on it three times and getting ready to do the 4th set this week. The vehicle currently has 100,600 miles. The AC capacitor went out at 59k, just under the 60k bumper to bumper expiring, so we got that repaired for nothing. The starter went out again around 70k and that cost $300.00. Wheel bearing have been replaced. A compressor went out around 80k and that cost $400.00. The climate control distribution doors dont open, so air barely blows into the compartment. Rear climate control hasnt worked for years. The coolant lines that run back to the rear unit literally rusted through and the mechanic had to plug the lines and route it so rear climate control isnt even possible. The rear brakes didnt seem to be working, so I took it to a mechanic who pulled the drums and said the shoes hardly looked worn and that the entire rear system had probably been hung up/frozen for years. He tried to free them up and thought he did, but I still dont think they are engaging. Thermostat has been replaced 2 or 3 times and I believe the water pump once. Its very heavy and gets terrible gas mileage, 18-20 miles/gal. I will say, knock on wood, that so far, the drive train has been solid. We have taken it on several long distance trips and have been very fortunate to have not had any problems on the road other than wondering if the brakes would fail at any moment, sweating in the backseats and hoping it wouldnt overheat. Other than that, it has been great!

I will NEVER EVER buy a KIA Optima or any KIA. First it has a bad AIR CONDITIONER, now my engine is BLOWN. Warranty does not cover it. I bought a 2014, last year although I did oil changes engine started to let out BLACK SMOKE. Took it to KIA, they said I never did an oil change even though I showed them Oil Change receipt. They took the engine apart and said we needed a new engine. So the car is sitting outside my house with no ENGINE. It sort of an advertisement that KIAs are NO GOOD, NO GOOD. My other car has almost 160,000 miles, no engine problem. I had 2 Toyotas, they ran over 200,000 miles - never had engine problem.

I had to call Kia roadside asst. Here is the number 800 333 4542. They came and towed it to the nearest dealership. Im now waiting at home missing work, waiting for the dealership to call me. Powertrain warranty: I have 2006 Kia Spectra 5 with over 80,000 miles. I started to experience slippage and loss of power in the transmission. The car downshifts on its own while driving. And when trying to accelerate the car after stopping the accelerator pedal to the floor, the car does not respond. I took the car to two separate repair shops after calling the warranty company to file a report. The warranty company proceeds to send out an adjuster to inspect the car and proceeds to tell me he did not experience any issue in his test drive. I proceeded to call the warranty company and I am told that they will not fix anything unless it occurs when the adjuster is driving the car. I proceeded to tell them I am starting to think that they do not want to make the repair since the warranty will be ending at 100,000 miles. Is there anything I can do?

The speedometer on my 2005 Kia Spectra sometimes doesnt read my speed correctly. The first time the incident occurred, it was almost 2 years ago. I only had the car for a day. While at the red light, the speedometer said I was driving 60 mph. When I started moving, it went up to 120 mph. The following day, I took the car back to the dealer, they checked it and explained to me that they couldnt find anything wrong with the speedometer. A week ago, today, I got a speeding ticket for driving 60 mph in a 40 mph zone. After getting the ticket, as soon as I started driving, I noticed the speedometer at 50 mph. I noticed immediately that the speedometer was acting up again. I stopped the car to confirm. After coming to a complete stop, the speedometer was still reading 40 mph and then the hand started slowly moving downwards. The following morning, I took the car in to my nearest Kia dealer where they checked it, said they ran a test and placed it on their computers but couldnt find anything wrong or any error codes so theres nothing they could do. Now I have to go to court, pay a speeding ticket, get points on my license all for something thats not my fault and something I cant fix nor the dealer can fix. So Im going to need Kia to fix this!

I bought a new 2011 Kia Sorento. I have always had a problem with the acceleration. It does not happen all the time, but now it is more frequent. I have tried to cross the highway, and when I accelerate, it is as if the car has gone dead. It will not accelerate. It will eventually get gas, and move. This is very scary, since I never know when it is going to happen. I only have 20,000 miles on it. I really wish I had not purchased a Kia. Kia mechanics cannot find the problem. I have changed type of gas, with no help. I feel like I am driving a car waiting for an accident to happen!

Forward a month later, called again to ask where it was. They sent to wrong address. Had the agent request a stop payment and send to correct address. Told me she did. Forward a month. Asked where the check was and the agent told me they never processed. Had the call escalated to two Incompetent Managers one which was named Julie. Julie started the conversation trying to act tough to get me off the phone. Told me to wait another half a month to get my money back. Funny thing is if I didnt make payments on the car guess who would be calling me for money. Im doing the exact same thing to get my money back. Julie then proceeded to get snarky and ended the conversation by hanging up on me. What a tool.

I bought a used 05 Amanti with 66K miles - one previous owner. My first problem was at only three of my own miles, it has gone through the same coil pack every month. It has sudden acceleration requiring neutral to avoid an accident. It sometimes refuses to accelerate. It eats batteries and now it has severe handling issues. I have owned cars with 174K miles that ran better than this lemon. It is parked till paid off when I will sell it for scrap. Save yourself headaches - do not buy Kia or Hyundai (Kia is owned by Hyundai). Kia corporate has been unable to duplicate the problem. I contacted a lemon law lawyer who told me since I bought it used I had no legal recourse. Safecar.gov has tons of complaints about Amantis with the same issues I have.

As I said, I am 38, I have five kids, am a retired army vet and between those two things, I dont expect two many surprises to come my way that I havent seen before. I live in Mass, so I needed a car that could handle the weather and give me the room with safety I needed. I bought a black 2014 soul with 25 miles on it. We all remember the Kias when we were young. Not good cars at all. But now, I dont know any other. The soul has an unbelievable solid engine. It rides smooth, its amazing the space Inside. It is loaded! I bought this car brand new for around $10,000, below any car brand new with all these options. We have been hit with the worst snow since 1978, my car hasnt gotten stuck once. I see range rovers explores, etc. on the side of the highway. But not Penelope, my kids named her. Boiled down, if and when I need a new car, I will definitely buy a Kia. Its the most reliable, gas efficient, safe, and family and pocket friendly car on the market! Thank you Kia.

I am a little perplexed with your judgement call Kia... I own a 2014 Kia Sorento that’s as apart of your engine recall. The car “passed” the tests ran on it to determine if a new engine was needed, only to have the engine completely cease going 50mph on a major highway in Virginia. I received a call today about an open recall on a fuel pump issue potentially causing fire. While I was aware of this situation due to the national news the issue has received I was not prepared for the supposed resolution to this issue... I was told that I needed to bring the vehicle in for inspection to determine “if they” thought the fuel pump needed to be replaced...So, let me get this straight you want me to yet again trust people that told me my engine was completely fine when it wasn’t to now tell me I don’t need a new fuel pump but potentially catch fire??? Something is seriously wrong with this situation! The fact that you are willing to put peoples safety at jeopardy is disheartening... I have zero trust that if I am told the fuel pump doesn’t need to be replaced that I am safe. You need a better resolution and you need one fast...

In March of 2012, I purchased a new 2012 Kia Rio. Not long after having it, the radio would not read CDs. I had it in the dealer service department several times, and I would still have the same problem. The dealer finally decided to replace the radio with a re-manufactured one. The refurbished one that was put in was even worse than the original one. It would freeze up, go out, and do things without me touching it. Also, I would lose control of it, and it would even stay on after the car was shut off, key taken out of ignition, and car locked. I took it to another dealer to have them look at it. And after a long period of time of having problems with it, it was replaced again with yet another refurbished one. It worked okay for a while, and now all of a sudden, when turned on, there is no sound. There is no sound whatsoever when I run the volume knob up and down. I am fed up with Kia for their products and service! I will never buy another Kia! I am in the process of filing a lemon law claim with the BBB. They should buy this vehicle back after countless sorry attempts to fix the problem and Im still having trouble out of it!

I was the owner of a 2018 Kia Sorento. Upon getting close to the end of my lease, I went to the dealership Smithtown Kia on Long Island, NY. Between mileage and remaining payments, part of the deal/contract for exchanging the 2018 Sorento for a new 2020 Kia Optima is that the remaining balance on the Sorento would be paid off by the dealership. The check for the remaining balance (in excess of $2,600.00) was sent by the dealership upon closure of the deal in February 2020. In August of the same year I received a notification from Transunion (one of the major credit bureaus) that a reported missed payment in the amount of the payoff had been reported by Kia Motors Finance. What Kia neglected to do was send the letters claiming I owed them this money to the address listed when I got the 2020 Optima (my current address), not the address I lived in upon the lease of the 2018 Sorento.I was left in the dark about it due to their negligence to send letters to the right address informing me of their negligence to handle a contracted pay off properly. I checked my credit score which at the time of the deal back in February was well over 800. What happened to my credit score was more than just a drop in the bucket. The drop my credit had experienced put me in a terrible position with my mortgage lender during a refinance that was taking place at the same time frame I found out about this remaining balance on a vehicle I no longer owned nor was legally financially responsible for due to the terms of the balance being the responsibility of the dealership to pay off. I called the dealership right away and they claimed they had sent the check. They sent me a tracking number where the check was sent via Fedex. I looked into the tracking number and the check was signed for by Kia Finance that it had been received.I called Kia Finance. After waiting unbelievable amounts of time to speak with someone, they requested that I send them a picture of the front and back of the check that the dealership had sent them for the pay off. So they wanted a picture of a check they already physically received, yes you read that right. I called the dealership and got the run around for 4 days before they found it and sent it to me via email. Mind you, every day that goes by I am building a terrible mountain of late days on my credit regarding this pay off. Once I received the picture of the front and back of the check I called Kia Finance again where they gave me an email to forward the picture of the check. I sent the email twice in the same day. I called the next day and they put me on hold for 45 minutes only to tell me that I had to wait an additional 2 days before they could find and review the email with the picture attached.I waited 2 days and called back. When I got someone on the phone they put me on hold for 2 straight hours before I lost my patience and gave up. I called the next day and they had me on the phone for an hour before they found the email. Once they found the email the lady on the phone said she was sending it over to payment processing which would take another 3 days. Yes, another 3 days. I waited the 3 days and called back. I got a lady on the phone whom I explained the whole situation to. She puts me on hold to review the situation and once again never gets back to me. I waited on hold for almost a half hour before I gave up again. I have the background music for being on hold with Kia etched into the bad memory bank of my brain. I called back right away where the next lady proceeded to tell me that she needed to review the situation and asked if I would hold for 2 to 3 minutes.I lost it at this point and started pointlessly yelling at them because Im a human being thats been completely pushed to the limit. Finally after over 2 weeks of this horrible experience I get a payment processing person on the phone that seemed interested in helping. But in the end, Ive been instructed I need to wait another 3 days before theyll know anything else. Im literally fighting against the credit bureaus clock because of this company due to absolutely no fault of my own.As I wrote this review I have literally been on hold upon the resolution of the last call I explained for over 26 minutes. I have no hope or feeling of resolution to this awful situation these people have put me in. Gross customer negligence and incompetence that has cost me my financial health. Something needs to be done whether Im the only person this has happened to or whether its happened to multiple people. Its unethical, its immoral, its life altering. I dont know what else to do. I will never get a Kia ever again.

I recently moved to Denver, CO from Sioux City, IA. I was offered a great position at a new job here and had to accept it. I own a home in Sioux City and rented it out right away to move and start my job on December 5, 2015. Everything was going great here with the move and job and I was adjusting quickly. My brother in law and sister in law live here so having family here helped with move. The beginning of January came and my mother in law decided she wanted to visit for Christmas. My sister in law let me use her car to go pick her mother up but only after she had the oil changed on her vehicle. I also decided to have the oil changed in my 2012 Kia Sorento as driving all the miles back and forth to Iowa over the past few months with the move had put me at being due for an oil change. I planned on going to get it changed at the dealership as I had always done, but wanted/needed it done quickly, so decided to go to Jiffy Lube (#901 ran by Southwest Lubrication, Inc.) 8100 Crestline Ave Unit E-2 Littleton, CO 80123 (303) 933-9319. I went on January 8th, 2016 at 1:30 in the afternoon. They were not very busy, and were able to get me in quickly. They did their standard routine as far as letting me know what needed/should be done and their different classifications of oil changes. I chose the Signature Service as they recommended due to my vehicle being of foreign nature. I also had them replace the air filter as they recommended after showing me the old one. I was only there for about 45 minutes to an hour, it did not take them long to complete, paid for the service and was on my way. This is where things started to happen. The past few months, (November-current) my vehicle had been making a squeaking noise coming from the brakes, as they also needed to be replaced, but not to the point yet of absolutely having to have this done. On January 10th, two days after the oil change at Jiffy Lube, I noticed a noise not like the squeaking of the brakes, but more like plastic flapping or something with a belt or fan blade. I was only assuming these were what these noises could be as I have heard them before on previously owned vehicles and friends vehicles. The noise was bad up until the vehicle reached 30-40 mph or about 2 on the RPM scale in the dashboard. I drove to and from work at Advance America, which is about 6 miles from my home, so about a 12 mile round trip. I did this from January 11-13. I drove the vehicle to my sister in laws on January 14th, which is about 20 miles from my home, where it stayed parked for 24 hours while I took her vehicle to pick up her mother in Sioux Falls, SD. After I returned the next day, January 15, I picked up my vehicle and went to work where I did marketing, which involved driving my vehicle around to distribute flyers. This added an additional 50+ miles to my vehicle. January 16 I also went to work, round trip of about 12 miles. The 17th, I used my sister in law vehicle to return my mother in law home. My car sat for another 24 hours as I did this. The next day, the 18th I did not have work due to the holiday, but noticed the noise was getting worse. The evening of the 18th my brother in law had a friend come over to their home, where I was at the time, to check out my vehicle. We first started the vehicle and drove around the parking lot and down the street so he could hear the noise. My brother in laws friend is NOT a mechanic but his brother is and he has been around cars his whole life, so I thought he would be able to quickly tell what was wrong and recommend what to do. After we returned to the parking lot, we opened the hood so he could look at that and check the oil, basic things everyone does with a car. We pulled the dipstick and there was absolutely NO oil on the end. We did this a couple times to verify it was correct in showing no oil. My brother in law unscrewed the cap of where the oil filter is housed to make sure there was one, he did this only after I told him to. There was a filter but no oil really on said filter. We screwed the cap back on the filter housing and examined around everything further to notice what looked to be oil covering most everywhere under the engine in the engine compartment. At this point I/they decided that I needed to go to the dealership to have it looked at further. We added 2 quarts of oil to make sure there was enough for me to get home and then to the dealership as soon as possible. I took my vehicle to Peak Kia Littleton 5077 S Wadsworth Way Littleton, CO 80123 (303) 904-7806 and spoke with **, the service adviser there. I did this on January 20th and he recommended and said the next step would be to have a diagnostic test done. The next available time to do this was Thursday January 21st. I was there right away on Thursday morning for the test as I had to be to work by 10 am. The test took longer than expected and I called my work and this was fine with them to show up a couple hours late due to this appointment. I ended up calling into work that day because the testing took longer than expected and that was due to Kia informing me that they had looked and done everything as far as they could diagnostic wise and advised me that my engine was done for and would need to be completely replaced. I immediately thought it was something Jiffy Lube had done and called and informed them I would be looking into this further and also would be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, which I did. The complaint number is **. I have not heard anything back yet from this complaint. I was then contacted back by Jiffy Lube to get more information from me and the manager there said he was investigating this. A few hours went by and the Jiffy Lube manager called to inform me that after reviewing their tapes and speaking with the service techs, that they did nothing wrong and everything had been done correctly. I did not agree and asked for their corporate number which he gave as their location number and for his bosses contact information. This location is owned as a franchise and the franchise owner just happened to be there at this time. He got on the phone, introduced himself as Doug ** owner/operator, and I explained what was going on to him. He informed me he would do his best to help resolve this and offered to go to the Kia dealership to take a look for himself and see what he could see. He spoke with the service people at the dealership and after he was done with that, informed me that he and they had come to the conclusion that the oil was coming from somewhere other than the filter housing. I do not know much of anything about auto parts or things like this as I explained to him and he told me it was basically between Kia and I, and that it was something faulty with the vehicle, and being under warranty should be covered and fixed by Kia. At this point, I figured that it could possibly be something wrong with the vehicle itself, because since I purchased it brand new in 2012, I had been to the dealership in Sioux City, IA many times with several different issues that they fixed and replaced under warranty. I contacted the Kia dealership in Littleton, Peak Kia, and spoke with ** once again. I told him what Doug from Jiffy Lube had told me and he informed me that it was NOT something that they did and said it was something that happened with or at Jiffy Lube. I told him I wasnt saying that it was something they had just recently done, but could be something with that particular vehicle as I had had numerous things done and fixed prior to moving here. When it came down to it, he told me that it would be $345.00 for them to tear down the engine to find out what the real problem was. I already owed/owe them (Peak Kia) $115 for the diagnostic test and did not have the extra money to pay the $345 to pay to do this to either find out if was something wrong with the vehicle, then they would refund me and it would be covered by warranty, OR it would be something Jiffy Lube did and would NOT be covered by warranty and I would be out there $345 and would have to pay OVER $8000 for a new engine. I did not/do not have the $345 to pay for then engine tear down since I lost my job due to NOT having reliable transportation, a requirement of my position there. They gave me the choice of either resigning or they would have to fire me since I was still in training and was losing my means of transportation. I chose to resign on January 22nd after working half the day and discussing all of these details with my boss. ** at Kia had told me, that day, Friday the 22nd of January that my vehicle was not drivable, and if I did, my engine would definitely seize up. I have left it sitting there at the dealership since. I have been back and forth with both Jiffy Lube and Kia, have filed a complaint with the BBB, tried to go and file a small claims case but after discussing with them the cost of an engine, advised that Colorado law on small claims limits at $7500 and it will be much more to fix my vehicle not to mention my loss of employment and now I am about to be evicted because I have no income. I have tried to contact numerous lawyers and other offices for assistance on what to do and how to find an attorney, but have not gotten anywhere yet. I have been in contact with a radio talk show and have been on the air with Tom Martino, who assists in consumer affairs, and has been helpful so far, but I think I need to hire an attorney or someone to help me with this. I know this is a VERY long plea for assistance, but wanted whomever read it to be fully aware of my situation so I could get some direction on where to go from here. ANY information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Again thank you for reading this and I hope to hear from someone soon!!

We purchased a 2008 Kia Rio for our son to use before he graduated high school. In the 3 1/2 years since it has, it barely had 30k miles on it. Our son reported while driving it 2 weeks ago, that it jolted and he thought he had a blowout, but upon checking it, the tires were good. However, the right front wheel was free to float forward and backward in the wheel well. The Kia technician was quick to advise us that the person we had who welded the control arm did a poor job and it broke. He was immediately advised that the car was purchased new and other than oil changes, it has never been mechanically worked on. The service manager said they would submit it for warranty approval. Two days later, it was denied and we were informed that the operator hit something and broke the control arm. What happened to the expert opinion stating a bad welding job to breakage caused by damage? This isnt my first time around the block and I know when smoke is being blown up my shorts. The denial came from a supposed Kia rep. The Albuquerque Kia ran me around for a week to even get this information from them and would not follow up on information leaving me to them. One of their people even had the ignorance to even say aw boo! What was that supposed to mean? But they have my car and I understand what a mechanics lean is.

2015 Soul a big loser. Under powered especially with air turned on. So-so gas mileage. I live in FL, the air conditioner has a hard time keeping car cool once it hits 90 degrees. Have to keep on recycle a lot. Stupid stuff Kia did: Cant install a cargo cover in base model, I guess they dont want to sell them; Cant purchase body side moldings, I guess they want you to bring the car into their shops to fix all the dings. The only thing that saves this car is the warranty.

i have been having trouble putting fuel in my 2003 Kia Sorento. My warranty has already expired. I did get a recall letter from Kia for the fuel filter replacement, at which time I felt sure this was my problem, and since it was a recall, would be taken care of by Kia. They explained to me that the reason it was recalled was because it was not listed in the manual at all, as something to be changed every so many miles. They sent two pages to be added to the manual. My local Kia dealership did change the fuel filter. That same day, after trying to put fuel in the car, I find nothing had changed. I called them and asked them to look at it again, and took it back several days later, as they were to change another recall, known as the induction control valve, and check my fuel tank once again. They told me that a charcoal canister located in the fuel system had come apart, and I now had charcoal debris in my gas tank, which of course was not covered, and that part was $134.90, and the labor would be $199.00. I went home and went through my manual for a couple of hours trying to locate this charcoal canister, to better understand how such a thing could happen. After having no luck locating it in the manual, I called Kia, and told them my dilemma, and asked them if they could tell me where in the manual this part is located, and are you ready for this? I was told it was not in the manual, because it was not listed as maintenance! I asked well how would anyone know it was even there, if it wasnt listed. They said it was just a part that was never to be changed at any point and time. Now Im going to be out $350.00, on a part that no one knows existed, nor was ever to be changed. I write this in hopes that it will help anyone else, who is having similar problems. If your fuel spits back at you, or you have to dribble the fuel in, it may be this part that no one knew about, or was not a part that should ever need maintenance. Sorry, but a Kia is not in my future.

I brought a 2012 KIA Sedona 10/2011 and it keeps breaking down - On 5/23/2012, I was riding in traffic and felt a great big jerk, check engine light came on and the speedometer went all the way down. I had to swerve off the the road very quickly because it almost caused an accident. I tried to proceed after swerving onto the side of the road and the van would not go over 10mph. Someone could have been seriously hurt. This is a safety issue. I called Felton Holly Kia and spoke with the automotive manager Dawn. She stated it sounded like the throttle. I then called Kia Roadside Assistance and Dawn called Enterprise for a rental for me. On 5/24/12, Dawn called me to state that they replaced the throttle actuator. I picked my van up after work and left the rental car at the Kia dealership. I also asked Dawn, if this was a recall, then why didnt I receive a letter from the manufacturer? She stated she didnt tell me it was a recall. Actually, I understood her to say recall. She then stated it was a service call for the battery terminal and they replaced the throttle actuator. I then just left the dealership still upset and dissatisfied, but the van ran okay at that moment. On 6/3/12, my van did the same thing it did on 5/23/12, which consisted of riding in traffic, feeling the big jerk and the speedometer went down quickly. I could not get it to get the speed back up. It would not go over 30mph at this point. Kia roadside assistance was called once again on 6/4/12 to tow my van to Felton Holly KIA. I spoke with a gentleman on 6/4/12 (8:10AM) by the name of Peter and told him the problem I was experiencing with my van and that I would need a ride from work. He stated okay, they would take a look at my van to see what was going on. I never heard from anyone at Felton Holly KIA so I decided to call at 1:24PM (6/4/12) and I spoke with Dawn, who stated they still were not aware what was wrong and the maintenance personnel had gone to lunch, but would return in 15 minutes. I waited and then 2:38-2:40PM, Dawn called to state that they were replacing the pedal on my van. She stated this was all related to the same issue. I asked, how could that be if you replaced the throttle actuator? She stated she never stated the throttle actuator was replaced, but that they put the new computer information in my van, which was never put in. I stated, you never said that and she said she did. I just started jotting down what was being said by her. Dawn asked, was I aware how PCs worked when they install the new information? I stated no, so she called herself explaining it. She stated that my 2012 van did not have the new computer information, but it had the old information so they input this information in on the 5/23/12 incident. I feel like the information is being given and turned around once I repeat to them what they previously have told me. This is very frustrating. It seems like they are guessing about what is wrong and the real issue is not being resolved. I need help on how to handle this situation so I can utilize my options.

Recently my fuel pump went out and as inconvenient as it was Kias customer service helped make the situation quick and cost free. Even though I was the second owner of the car, therefore voiding the Extended warranty, Kia still covered the repairs at no cost to me. Even though it was a holiday weekend they had me in a rental car the same day and even covered the entire cost for the week I had it. The customer service representatives were all extremely nice and very accommodating to our needs. I would recommend Kia to my friends and family and plan to get one for my fiancé in the future as well.

I bought a brand new Kia Soul. I was driving on the turnpike when I hear a noise coming from the right front of the car. I thought the right braked locked up but did not feel it driving. Turns out the inside part of the wheel well came loose and with the wind touched the front right tire causing the noise and bending it where it could not be bent back. I made an appointment to take the car into Rick Case Kia service. They asked me to later come into the shop area my car was up on a lift. They accused me of hitting something to cause this to happen. I said I have 1000 miles on the car. I am the only driver. I did not hit anything. Other than the scratch make of the tire on the part that bent back there is no evidence no sign of anything hitting the area.I stated that its been raining a lot and I have as everyone else driven at highway speeds through standing water. I think maybe the force of the water may have loosened the clamps causing this. They still claim I hit something so as to not cover it. I called Kia Customer Service and its been a few days with no callback. I opened a case. If they do not cover this I no longer want the car. I have been reading all these accounts of horrible customer service. I purchased extra coverage where even oil changes are paid for. This accusation does not sit well with me. If this is how it is with Kia I wish I had known previously they have a maybe fake award for the past two years with a major company. Dont know if its legitimate now. If its not covered I do not want to drive my car. Only had it over 30 days. Hope anyone looking to buy a Kia dont. Rick Case doubles the factory warranty from 10 years to 20 but then they blame the customer for the claim to disqualify the claim. Very underhanded and wrong. I fell for their tv commercials.

Well I bought a 2014 Sorento and it has died on me 3 times. The 1st time the memory board went the 2nd day I had it. They fixed it. 2nd time the battery went. They replaced it. Well today 4/17 I went to start my car and is dead again, unknown why. We called to have Kia to come tow and speak to a sales manager cause the service department was closed as per secretary. She advised speak to a sales manager, left message, didnt get a call back. Called again and was told only one manager and we would have to wait until 4/18 to speak with someone. In the meantime I dont have a car and I have a disabled five year old with health problems and spends a lot of time in the hospital. What am I to do if something happens? Call a cab, better yet. Every month I go to Boston Massachusetts to Boston Childrens hospital. What if this happened going there and I was stuck. This would be a huge health risk. I want a new car. This is ridiculous!!

We bought a Kia Sorento CX3 on 31.3.15 at a Kia franchise. It was about 4 years old. We were told it had never been in and accident and paid £18000 for it, which was the top end of suggested prices. From the beginning we had problems with the sunroof, which rattled. We took it to a local franchise dealer on a number of occasions to get it fixed. Parts of the sunroof had to be replaced.About 17 months after we bought the car it started smelling of damp. My daughter discovered water in the passenger vanity light. When the car was checked by the local Kia dealer. They discovered the welding in the roof had been grounded. Which implies it has been in some sort of accident. We contacted the original Kia dealer and Kias customer care service. They basically said Its not covered by the warranty. We can do nothing for you, and said we could contact the omnison, which we are now doing. It cost £3400 to be fixed by the local Kia garage. You buy from a franchise dealer, who is an ambassador for Kia, because you think you will have some protection. I dont think the garage knowingly sold us a damaged car but I feel Kia have let us down and questioned our integrity. As an ex nurse/midwife, I have spent my life caring for people and I think the way we have been treated is appalling. Buy your car from a company with more integrity and a customer care service that does care.

Kia Motors wanted to charge me $470 to replace a timing belt on my auto. I refused and, two months later, my engine was destroyed. Kia stated I violated my warranty and failed to honor its Powertrain Warranty. It was brought out in litigation that the timing belt was covered and that Kia Motors has a conflict between their warranty and their required maintenance schedule. The issue that really needs to be addressed here is that the courts are allowing Kia Motors to enforce a limited liability clause to limit the damages in a lawsuit, but the clause the judges are using is not a clause that applies to Kia Motors express warranties.

I bought this Kia Sorento in 2006, brand new. I have been the only driver and have put 75,000 miles on it. I have had nothing but problems, and of course none that the extended warranty I paid dearly for nor the power train 100,000 mile warranty cover. Most recently, I had a series of breakdowns that finally resulted in my Kia needing a fuel pump, so I was told. $800.00 later, I pick up my Sorento to start it and have a loud knocking noise as well as my check engine light on. Come to find out, the mechanic noted that a week before when the car was dropped off. So, my cars been at Kia for 10 days and I pick it not completely fixed. I was told it is probably crank barrings(!?) and it will be fine for now.My car broke down again on my way home, yes, after $800.00 and a new fuel pump? So, I call the Kia dealership, I bought it from to be asked. Did you have the timing belt changed at 60,000 miles? Now, how would I know that? So, he tells me now my extended and power train warranties are null. I will never buy another Kia or Hyundai product ever again, and I will spread the word loudly! I am not a hateful person, I work hard as a registered Nurse in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and have dedicated my life to helping people. I am recently a single mom of a 17 year-old who wants to go to college and I just cant afford to not have a car, or to have a car that is not reliable. I also feel I was cheated into a warranty that will not be honored, and it is disappointing. Please pass the word about the dishonesty of Kia.

In August of 2012, it will be 2 years that I have owned my 2011 KIA Sorento. I bought the vehicle brand new. 3 weeks ago (at 30K miles), my 4 tires had steel threads poking out and the tires were very thin. The Sorento was also pulling to the right, very bad. I contacted the dealership, telling them that their manufacturers tires were bad and demanded they replace them and fix my alignment. Kia told me that it could have done 12 months prior, but that I am out of luck now and have to pay over $200 to get it fixed right. So, I went to another big time vehicle mechanic. They did my alignment and they also mentioned that the camber bolts needed to be replaced/fixed, but that would have to be something KIA needs to do. This place did do my alignment, after I forked over a thousand dollars for 4 brand new tires at Discount Tire Co. So, Kia Corporate Service told me to bring the vehicle in for a checkup after I told them what the other mechanic told me. After Kia was done, they hit me with a charge for another alignment! I explained to the guy that we had told him from the beginning that we had an alignment done and that we did not authorize this. Then, Kia told me that the camber bolts were installed backwards and the mechanic had to fix that too. I told the guy, How could that be? The other mechanic never even touched the bolts. After I was forced to pay in order to be able to drive it off, the Sorento went back to pulling off to the right again. So, back I went to the dealership today. I took this Kia service guy for a test drive in my Sorento. This guy said that driving down our bad city roads just makes it seems like our vehicle is pulling off to the right. That there are a lot of bumps in our city roads. The service guy said they will take another look at our Sorento, even though as he said, There is nothing wrong with it. Kia also refuses to give me my money back for the other alignment that was done, which the vehicle did not need. While there, I met another customer who had just gone through the same, exact thing we are now going through. She has hired an attorney and gave me the name of her attorney.

As a summary - last year, my 3 year young Kia Soul, with less than 30,000 miles had a check engine issue. The check engine light would go on, and the car would not go more than 5 mph. It was brought to multiple dealerships, and engineers from Kia were brought in to assess the car - with no resolution. I was without a car, and not offered a rental car, for a total of one month. For one month, I had to find rides to and from my job, because of Kias incompetency and clearly defective product. It was the most unprofessional experience I have ever had with such a young, low mileage car. It was a few days/few miles shy of falling under the NY State Lemon Law, so perhaps this horrific series of events will warn others against doing business this awful company.Heres the Order of Absurd Events from Last Year: Sunday, May 17: I left my house and got about 1 block away. I stopped at a stop sign, and the “check engine” light came on. I then proceeded through the stop sign in order to pull over and realized that my car would not go more than 5 MPH. I turned around and (very slowly) made my way back home.Monday, May 18: I called Kia to have my car towed to the dealership. The closest dealership to my house is Generation Kia located in Bohemia, N.Y. At about 10 a.m. the tow truck showed up and my husband and I drove to the dealership in order to fill out any necessary paperwork. We were told that we would receive a phone call with an update as soon as they looked at the car.Wednesday, May 20: I received a phone call that the car was ready to be picked up. They had supposedly changed the “throttle body and gasket” and performed a “multipoint walk around inspection on vehicle.” I drove the car home with no problems. When I got home, my father opened the hood to see that the engine was shaking and looked very old and dusty, and not how the engine of a three year old car should look after being brought in for service.Friday, May 22: I went to leave my house at 8:30 a.m. to go to work and when I started my car, the “check engine” light was back on. The car was brought back to Generation Kia in Bohemia, N.Y. I was told I would receive a phone call once they figured out what was wrong with it. On Saturday morning, my husband called the dealership asking for an update – at which point the dealership confused him with a different customer. Once they figured out who he was, he was told that they had “no idea what was wrong with the car.” He was also promised a rental car if they still couldn’t figure it out by the next week. Monday, May 25 was a holiday and the dealership was closed.Tuesday, May 26: After numerous phone calls to the dealership, we were finally told that they changed the electrical connectors and the check engine light was now off. They also told me that their mechanic was going to “take the car home tonight and drive it around to see if the check engine light comes back on.” I found this to be extremely unprofessional and did not want a stranger taking my car home with them. I went and picked up the car after work. I received a survey from Kia regarding my experience with the Generation Kia dealership, and expressed how unsatisfactory their service was. I had to constantly call them for updates, after being promised that they would call me.I was promised a rental car one day, and then a few days later was told that they “didn’t have any loaner cars” and that they never promised one to me. In addition, the woman answering the phones at the dealership was rude, constantly sent our phone calls back to herself instead of to the mechanics, and told my husband that it was, “not her job” to see if the mechanic was available to take his call.Monday, June 15: I drove my car to work without any issues. At 5:00 p.m. I went into the car, started it up, and the “check engine” light immediately came on. I drove the car around the parking lot and found that it, again, would not go more than 5 mph. My husband picked me up and I called Kia Consumer Affairs to see where I should go from here. I expressed the fact that I did not want to return to Generation Kia in Bohemia, N.Y. due to their unprofessional antics – and after learning that the Dealership was being sued for fraud. I asked if I could have the car towed to a different dealership. I spoke with a gentleman who said that he completely understood, and mentioned that I could have the car towed to Smithtown Kia – which is where I actually purchased the car – even though it was a slightly further distance than the other dealership. He told me to, “get the car towed there as soon as possible,” and that “Kia will probably have one of their engineers go look at the car since this is the third time it’s being taken to the dealership.” He confirmed – explicitly – that this was the third occurrence, and I confirmed that it was the third time in about 5 weeks that the same issue surfaced and was not resolved.Tuesday, June 16: I had the car towed to Smithtown Kia. Wednesday, June 17: I called Kia Consumer Affairs to find out whether Smithtown Kia should be working on the vehicle, or if they should wait for Kia’s “engineer” to visit and look at the vehicle. I spoke with a different gentleman who explained that he “could not tell me either way what to do.” He mentioned that my case had been “escalated,” and that I needed to speak with my “case analyst.” He then asked if I received a call from the analyst, and I told him I had not. He told me that her name was Bernice **, and offered me her phone number.I called Bernice at 11:51 a.m. and left a message on her voicemail. A few hours later, I called Bernice again and she answered the phone. She said she was waiting to receive the “vehicle repair history” that she requested from the dealership. I asked her when I can expect to hear back from her. She said “if she gets the repair history today, and speaks to the district representative, hopefully within the next two days, they will be able to look at the vehicle.” Bernice called me at 4:12 p.m. and left a voicemail stating that she had contacted Generation Kia in Bohemia, N.Y., and they informed her that the vehicle was not there. I immediately e-mailed Bernice at the address that she left on my voicemail and told her that my Kia Soul was at Smithtown Kia in Saint James, N.Y.Thursday, June 18: I called Bernice and left a message to let her know, again, that my Kia Soul was at Smithtown Kia in Saint James, N.Y. I mentioned in the e-mail that “My car has been sitting at Smithtown Kia for 3 days waiting for an Engineer from Kia Corporation to take a look at it.” Bernice called me back at 11:37 a.m. and left a voicemail. She stated that she received my messages that the car was located at Smithtown Kia. She contacted them and spoke with Bill. She told them to do a “full diagnosis of the vehicle” and to open up a “tech hotline case” with their techs out in California for assistance if needed. She said, “at that point, once we do have a full diagnosis and been assisted by ‘tech line,’ if your concerns are not resolved at that point, we will then dispatch a field technical rep to the dealership.” She goes on to say that once a diagnosis is made and if the field technical rep is required, they can look into providing me with alternative transportation from their “district parts and services manager.”At 12:30 p.m. I contacted Smithtown Kia and spoke with Tom. He asked if Bill could call me back. At 1:15 p.m., Eric with Smithtown Kia called and said that Bernice did call them to tell them that they could begin working on the vehicle. He said as soon as his master mechanic can get to it, he will look at it. I asked him to please let me know once he looks at it. He said he absolutely will, and that he would be personally overseeing everything.Friday, June 19: I spoke with Eric from Smithtown Kia. He said the vehicle is performing perfectly, but they realize there is still a problem. He said they were working with “tech line,” as Bernice mentioned in her voicemail on June 18, and that they had been going back and forth with tech line all day long. He said they were taking the vehicle for a test drive to see if the “check engine” light would come on for them. After receiving no return phone calls or e-mails from Bernice, I e-mailed a summary of the situation to Amy **, Shamit **, Scott **, Karla ** and copied Bernice **, hoping that some of the people at Kia headquarters would be better able to assist. I received no response from anyone.Saturday, June 20: I received a call from Eric with Smithtown Kia. He said that unfortunately he did not have an update for me. The car was still performing perfectly, he was working with tech line, but the issue was not yet resolved. Eric and Smithtown Kia were extremely patient and polite and were the only people that actually called me back throughout this month-long ordeal.Tuesday, June 23: Bernice called me at 5:00 p.m. She said she spoke to the Smithtown Dealership and requested a field tech. He will “hopefully” be there in 2 days, on Thursday. She was unable to schedule the tech previously because their process is to have the dealership look at vehicle, work with tech, and then schedule a field tech rep. She did not ask dealership for rental car and put me on hold to find out if I was approved for one. She came back and said that I was FINALLY approved for a rental up to $40/day. I could get a car at any rental facility. Once repairs were completed, I would be reimbursed with a check from Kia. It would take 3 weeks to get reimbursed. I asked her when I can expect to hear back. She said if the field tech goes on Thursday, she will call and let me know. If he has to go later than Thursday she will call and let me know that as well.Thursday, June 25: I received a phone call from Paul ** who said he was with Kia Motors American Corporation Headquarters located in Irvine, CA. He apologized that it took so long for them to approve me for a rental car. I mentioned that I was told I would be reimbursed for up to $40 per day, but that unfortunately, in New York, I could only find rental cars for about $55 per day after taxes and fees. He said $55 per day was reasonable and I could go ahead and get a rental car for that amount and still be reimbursed. He mentioned that the field technical representative was working on the car – that their field technicians are highly experienced and that my car was in good hands. He said to contact him with any questions or issues.Friday, June 26: The Smithtown Kia Dealership called and said that the highly experienced field technical representative had been working on my car all day Thursday. Unfortunately, these highly experienced folks still could not find the problem, so they wanted to put a “flight recorder” into the vehicle, so that the next time my car breaks down (how reassuring), I would have to push a button and it would record the data so that they can HOPEFULLY see what’s going wrong, and POSSIBLY fix it. Because, doesnt everyone want to drive an unreliable car that at any point will break down and leave you stranded?THE END. Im sorry to say that this issue was never resolved. I got rid of the clearly defective Kia Soul and purchased another vehicle - from another company. I will never purchase another product from Kia. They are unprofessional, they dont stand behind their products, and clearly do not care about their customers safety or well-being.

I find it hard to believe that every dealer I visited to buy this particular model car are increasing the MSRP price of this car by thousands of dollars using a dubious practice call addendum sticker, I initiated a complain directly on the KIA website but all I received was an email indicating that someone will be in contact with me, that was back in late October 2019. As of today nobody has call me or email to address this serious problem.I understand that this is nice vehicle and people might want to pay a few hundred dollars more for it but thousands more is ludicrous and not acceptable. If KIA is allowing dealers to ripoff unsuspecting buyers all they doing is destroying their own brand as once the word gets out many buyers will simply stay away from buying this brand. I saw this happening in the early 1980s with Honda. I was a young father with 2 kids and needed an economical car, I ordered a 1980 Civic and when I went to pickup the car 6 weeks later the dealer increase the agreed price by 25% and I was told take it or leave it. Having waiting for so long for the car I end up paying gouge price. To this day I never bought another Honda.

I have a 2019 Kia Sorento. I bought it September of 2018. I live in NYC so sometimes we have pretty cold weather. In January of 2019 I had a lot of trouble to start my vehicle. I brought it in to my local service center to see if they can figure out why. They told me that they werent able to find out the problem. Fast forward to November 2019 really cold night into the morning, my car wouldnt start again. It was towed to the local service center. They had it in the shop a total of 2 and 1/2 days and they still werent able to find the problem. This is a problem that Kia needs to step in and remedy. If this continues I may have to sell this vehicle and buy a competitors vehicle instead as well as tell everyone I know not to purchase this car or any other from this company.

So Kia Finance through Western Union (WU) will be charging customers, who may not be able to enroll in WU autopay, an extra fee of $3.95 beginning April 2018 for their monthly payment. Why should KMFUSA allow WU to charge customers for not enrolling in monthly autopay? Many car companies do not charge an extra fee for either autopay or monthly one-time payments from customers once the money is directly paid from the customers bank accounts. Please get rid of WU and get a company that can provide the same service without this extra fee. Is Kia Care Department aware of WU manipulations of its financially overburden customers who are trying hard to make monthly payments? Kia prefers to pump more money into TV commercials or sponsorships such as the English Premier League Soccer, NBA etc.. than to fight for its customers right and interest. Sad!!!

The 2011 Kia Forte ran great for 50K miles. Then, I guess I hit a rock - thats what the dealer told me - that apparently damaged the transmission fluid line underneath the car. They fixed it and told me the transmission was fine. So 1,250 miles later, the tranny locks up in 4th gear. Now, Kia is telling me that I should call my insurance company to take care of this. I told them, “No way. You guys told me it was fine. Now, you want to backtrack and blame the so-called accident.” Now, they’re saying if their metal in the bottom of the filter, then its on me. I dont think so.

I purchased a Kia Sorento back in 03 and have always taken my car for major services to the same dealer since. Recently, my car has had a vibration on acceleration and runs sluggish. There is a rattle on acceleration as well. To make my story short, I took it to the dealer and they checked it out and told me it needed spark plugs and wires replaced to a sum of $469.00. I got it done. A week later, I was having the same problem. I made another appointment. They checked it again and said it needed coils to the sum of $444.00. I asked if this will take care of the problem. They said yes. Today, 4/9/12, my car was towed to the dealer: same problem, only worse! The dealer said they will check again, but they will not cover the fix if it is something else. I told them that’s what they told me that was wrong; therefore, I am not paying one more cent!

Needs a engine and Kia is stating that their internal date was different and I was 2 weeks out of time but the Kia was at the dealership for a week and so I called to ask for some help. They said that they have a goodwill program since it just ran out but only in their internal system which I have ask for that info and had no response, and as you see by the 1 star they do not want to help in my case....

I have the KIA K900 year 2015. I have a recurring event my car tries to EAT
I have the KIA K900 year 2015. I have a recurring event my car tries to EAT me. Really I mean just that. To understand this let me let you know that this car is totally computer controlled. Everything is controlled by the onboard computer. There is no manual levers to work with. E Brake is computer controlled, shifting, starting, running, lighting, air conditioning and also the steering is drive by wire. So with that information here is how my car tries to eat me. I get into the car and put on my seat belt and step on the brake pedal and press the start button and my seat moves very fast all the way forward so much that I cannot move anything. Real, leg under the dash pressed hard into the dash well and the seat with not stop until it get where it wants to go then it stops moving. Now this is the terrorizing part. I cannot move the seat anywhere. It will not move back or anything at all. Now this is scary to me because I am thinking, Hey I am pressed hard against the steering wheel airbag if it goes off I am a dead man. I am a man with a disability and trying to get out of this was impossible. I had the police and fire to come help me and the fireman were able to twist me out of the car like a corkscrew. After this happen I had it towed to KIA Place I got it from and they worked on it and could not find anything wrong so to maybe fix this they did a complete computer reinstall of my car. Well this car eating me thing happened four more time and then the scariest thing happen. My car while I was drive down the road next to Safeway ate me. I could not move my feet to step on the brake and the right foot was on the gas pedal which I move sideways to prevent me from pressing on the gas. But the worst was I could not control the car because I was pressed so hard against the steering wheel I could not turn it but very little. Visions of hitting anything and having the airbag go off was scary. Of course this end ok, the fire department and police are the greatest and best people around. I was pulled from the vehicle again and the car when to KIA car company again. The company was really mad about this because my car tried to eat the service manager also. But KIA in the sky said not to repair it because they could not replicate the error. Now this top of the Line KIA Motors vehicle The all great K900 sit on the side of the road. I will never drive it again and the car company that I got it from understands but cannot help me and still to date KIA Motor in the sky will not make good on this car. Microsoft who programmed the car computer system says it is a defective BIO somethinga majiggy they are EPOMS thingies. But KIA Motors in the sky will not authorize a replacement of the computer thingy... I will never own another KIA Motors car at all.

I have a Kia Sedona Van. Every 90 days, both of the head lights blow out at same time while driving 55 mph on a highway. I have contacted the Kia Dealers and Kia Corporation many times already but they cannot do anything or mainly they will not do anything! The bulbs are Sylvania and were installed correctly, with clean sanitary gloves not touched by the skin or hands!
