Porsche 911 Turbo GTS And 911 GT3 Get New Center Locking Wheels By TechArt
TechArt will introduce its new Formula VII Race forged wheels for the Porsche 911 Turbo, 911 GTS and 911 GT3 at the 2022 SEMA Show in Las Vegas in early November.
The German-based tuner has become synonymous with Porsche over the years and keeps churning out hit after hit. The most recent was a Porsche 911 Turbo S with the power boosted to 700 horsepower and 664 lb-ft.
Now TechArt is expanding its forged wheel options with the Formula VI, Formula VI Race, and Daytona II. All three options are lightweight, and the "Race" in the name indicates the design as a central locking wheel.
The Formula VII Race boasts directional turbine styling and is made using the most modern forging methods. Its design also allows for a wide range of color variants and surfaces. The Formula VII Race can be finished in a single color or a single color with a diamond-cut rim star. Dual-tone paint with a diamond cut rim star or a contrasting rim star is also available. The painted options can be ordered in RAL finish or high-gloss polished ceramic.
The dimensions for the Race forged wheels are 9.5 x 20 inches at the front and 11.5 x 21 inches at the rear for 911 Turbo models. GTS models get 9 x 20 inches at the front and 11.5 x 21 inches at the rear. The beloved GT3 also has 9.5 x 20 inches up front, but it has the fattest rubber (12 x 21 inches) at the rear.
TechArt only supplied weight figures for the magnificent GTS. The front forged alloys weigh 21.6 pounds at the front and 26.2 pounds at the rear. This obviously reduces unsprung weight, improving the handling. Why is there no option for the recently unveiled Porsche 911 GT3 RS? Porsche already offers lightweight center-locking magnesium wheels as an option, but TechArt likely needs a little more time for development.
The Daytona II and Formula V wheel designs are available to all 911 models with five-lug wheels. Porsche's wheel options on lesser 911 models like the base Carrera are a bit limited, and TechArt offers more room for owners to put their own stamp on the car.
TechArt also offers a coil over spring set and noselift system for the 911. The former improves handling, while the latter makes the car a bit more suited to the daily grind.
The configurator for the new wheel options is already live, but pricing is not included. We'll know more once TechArt debuts its wares in Las Vegas next week.

This is a quick report as Porsche ownership is very subjective. Have owned an older Porsche Boxster since 2013, and must mention its easily the best car I have ever owed in 40 years. Mine's old, but its like an old race horse, it might be old but its still a race horse. If your lucky enough to own any Porsche, make the most of it whilst possible, before all vehicles become electric and loose their ability to excite the spirit and imagination.
Porsche really shows why it's the best brand around: Amazing cars that will draw the eye of any onlooker, at great prices, and a very very solid post-sale support team. Truly superb!
