MG Repair

MG is a British automotive marque founded by Cecil Kimber in the 1920s, and M.G. Car Company Limited was the British sports car manufacturer that made the marque famous. Best known for its open two-seater sports cars, MG also produced saloons and coupés, with engines up to three liters in size.

Automobile Repair

MG manufactures cars that owners have come to trust. Even a trustworthy autos require occasional maintenance or repair, however. If you’re in need of MG Auto repair from experienced professionals, your local Auto Helper can help.

The vehicle is not starting
If your vehicle either takes a long effort to start, or the vehicle just won't start by any means then the most predictable issue can be a dead battery. You need to be very observant in order to correctly identify and troubleshoot such an issue with your vehicle. If In response of turning your ignition key the vehicle is totally silent than the issue is with the battery or connecting terminals for sure. If there is a cranking sound while ignition than the issue might be with the fuel intake or the spark plug. In any case, you can arrange a tow truck or if possible can jump start your vehicle using a jump starter kit to safely reach a nearby workshop for further investigation of the issue.

Dashboard warning lights
On your dashboard are a set of lights that immediately inform you in case of any engine trouble. If your engine is overheating, low on fuel, experiencing battery problems, a red light will illuminate on the dashboard.
Most modern engines now come with an Engine control unit (ECU) with sensors attached to various engine components.
When there is an issue with the car, you will get an error code, which will light up a warning light.

Failed Thermostat
An engine coolant thermostat controls engine temperature by blocking coolant flow to the radiator until the engine reaches a predetermined temperature. because of this, the engine can first warm-up efficiently, and then begin to maintain a safe operating temperature once the thermostat opens and allows coolant to circulate.
When a thermostat fails, it can either stick open or closed. in both cases, you may find that the heater doesn't blow warm air into the passenger compartment. a thermostat that is stuck open makes it difficult for the engine to warm up and can cause it to run colder than normal.

Alternator Failure
The alternator essentially serves as the terminal that helps power your battery as you drive and distribute power to the various electrical systems of your vehicle as you're in gear. So, when an alternator goes bad, you're certain to know it. A dead battery, flickering or dimming headlights, or strange noises coming from your car can all indicate an issue with the alternator. If you suspect your alternator has gone bad, it's best to have the issue resolved immediately. That's because without an alternator, the vehicle will draw all of its energy from the battery, and this may cause the battery to drain and the vehicle to fail to start. Unfortunately, new alternators aren't cheap.

Transmission Problems
Outside of your engine, the transmission is the most important component that you'll find under the hood of any vehicle. In fact, in some vehicle drivetrains, replacing the transmission costs even more than replacing an engine. Some of the most common transmission problems are noticeable lapses in gear changes, grinding during gear changes, a burning smell, and gears slipping. One key thing you need to do to take care of your transmission is regularly changing the fluid at the manufacturer's suggested intervals. The fluid helps keep the transmission cool and helps serve as a lubricant between its various components to keep it running smoothly.

The Radiator is Leaking
Radiator leaks are almost always caused by corrosion. Corrosion itself can have a lot of causes but once you get one leak you are likely to get more so it makes sense to replace the whole radiator. If you don’t keep the radiator in good condition you can get problems with overheating and, ultimately, could end up with an engine fire.

The Starter Motor is Failing
The starter motor is the component that turns the engine over when you start the car. If it fails it is either a result of electrical solenoid damage, the motor itself has broken or there are other faults in the electrical system. It is difficult to assess when a starter motor is likely to break and to avoid replacing it unnecessarily it is best to get the car inspected by a professional to determine the cause of the starting issues before doing so.

Avoid Mg. Bought Mg hs exclusive semi automatic 26000. After 2 weeks complained about gear change and to be fair dealership have tried their best to solve problem but after numerous times had to get finance company involved to reject car this is where the problem starts. Mg uk will not take responsibility that I drive a dangerous car that picks what ever gears it wants also goes into neutral so you have no control over vehicle they have the reports off the dealership and an independent saying that this is an aging problem basically permanently there they are not answering anything to the finance company even that now the main complaints management are involved with their mangers Ive tried contacting their complaints department and all you get is their is nobody there to answer your call. So Ive got a26000 dangerous death trap of a car that they dont know how to fix and they wont have the car back and give me my money back. Please dont be fooled by the tv advertising and the look of the car if you get a problem your on your own please get a different make.

Bought an MG ZS EV.....You pay 28,000 for tech from 2001..The seatbelt warning light will stay on unless you plug all the rear seatbelt in, The satnav is SOOOOOooooo slow that you go past your turning before it tells you to turn, the Android auto only works if you plug your phone in but only gives a 1amp slow charge, the head unit has completely crashed and rebooting itself which takes 5-10 mins which if you need the satnav your screwed, the head unit fitted to indian and chineese ZS evs have voice commands and works perfectly but for some reason the UK version is a cheap downgraded pile of dog eggs, The driver aids dont read the road corectly so is constantly beeping and telling me im too close to the right side of the road even when im almost mounting the left pavement, the radar cruse control is slow and dim witted so when the car in front breaks it takes a second to react then breaks way to hard at the last second, every time i get in the car I have to select my phone so it will connect via the bluetooth or i cant make calls which you have to use the screen to make a call not use voice commands which is a pain in the @ss. The rear window washer jet is useless, the stereo sounds like it came from a 1990s volvo, The ride manages to be choppy and bouncy at the same time, it lumbers over speed bump then crashes throws you about when coming down, This car is a joke.... spend more money and get the nissan Leaf or renault Zoe, Or just buy a diesel jeep compass and as its the same price but you get a better interior, stereo, and it feels nicer to drive.... for the Love of god Do Not Waste Your Cash On This Pile Of Dog Poop!

Having a very poor experience with customer service - MG HQ offered me a 750 voucher code if I buy their ZS EV this month. However the dealership says they cant apply this discount without authorisation from HQ. Ive reached out to both multiple times, but no joy. Think they might be waiting for the month to end! I have also realised there are no contact details (apart from the info email) for MG HQ. This is NOT inspiring confidence in MG or their ability to serve customers!I shall update my review if things improve, otherwise this stays.Update on 22 June:So basically MG have said to the dealership that this voucher is not applicable with an affinity deal - only this has not been mentioned in anything, either in the offer or on the website. They do have a customer service phone line but this was not really helpful. So I have now logged a formal complaint with MG. Fingers crossed!Update on 26 June:MG are going to honour the deal and I shall get the discount! Yayy! Have adjusted star rating accordingly. Now to see how smooth the purchase process isUpdate on 30 June:So have purchased and new car registered on Monday but no date yet for when I will get it. Apparently it is in the country but being looked at by the service centre. My star rating remains as this process could be a lot better and quicker.Update on 3 July:Remain disappointed with service levels - car will not be ready till Monday. Dont really understand why it takes over a week to get hold of my car! According to the dealers the service centre in Eastcote prioritises Nissan cars as that is their main business. This might have something to do with the poor levels of service so many people have complained about. Theres still a few things like temporary insurance etc that Im waiting to hear about. Hope I get proper answers on Monday!Update on 6 July:So finally got the car delivered to my house today! Im pleased with the car but my joy/fun dampened because of their rubbish service. That car was not ready on Monday after all, in fact the person who prepped my car left the engine running which simply killed the battery! They only have a slow charger which meant I had to wait another day. Very annoyed by this and have written to MG customer services but not heard anything back yet (not even acknowledgement).I also dont really know what this service person did as there were a few light scuff marks on the seat plastic as well as at the back of the front seats. So my final rating for MG service is 1 star which reflects the utter rubbish experience Ive had. The discount was not worth all this aggro!

Picked up our brand new 2021 MG HS Exclusive July 2021. Great price and standard equipment was good value. Everything was all going well, I was singing MGs praises to everyone my family, friends and strangers who ask how I found the MG HS.I highly recommended it to all, I even told them to ignore all the German car brands, I was so well impressed by quality, drive and level of standard equipment. However 3 months after taking ownership of MG HS Exclusive......DISASTER STRUCK!!!! ????????????One week into October 2021.....My wife and I were sat at a local beauty spot, car windows half way lowered and sun roof open slightly, engine off, around 5pm it started getting cold, so went to start the engine and close windows and sunroof.Car would not start, so due to being very cold I tried the long key press that closes all windows and sunroof.....Oh no no no it proceeded to open the Sunroof and all windows wide open and the car shut down.Where we parked up is all good in daylight but at night it gets visited by boy racers and could not leave the car unattended. So we called the RAC who took 3 hours to get to us (that is for review), RAC checked all electrical stuff, battery, fuses etc etc nothing wrong, so he called for the pick-up truck, which did not arrive until 11pm we both were extremely cold ????Our MG HS was taken to MG Frasers of Falkirk for repairs to be carried out.We were told the car arrived and was put under cover as sunroof and all windows were wide open, some how we were told the floor had been soaked, MG Frasers of Falkirk dealership they have no idea how it got soaked!!Anyway we expected the car might be off the road for a week or two, how wrong were we.It is now December 6th 2021 and our MG HS is still off the road ????????????MG Frasers of Falkirk dealership communicationsWeek one, we are trying to get the car dried out before starting work on it.Week two, we are still trying to get the car dried out.Week three, we cannot find the fault and awaiting an MG specialist to come to find the fault.Week four, specialist could not diagnosis the fault.Week five, we think we have the fault diagnosed, there is three possible circuit boards that may be the cause of the fault, we need to order the parts but MG would only allow one part to be ordered at a time and if it did not solve the problem they can order a second part and if that did not resolve the fault then the third part would be allowed to be ordered.A further three weeks passed and guess what still have not resolved the fault ??????Latest communication from MG Frasers of Falkirk.......If this third part fails to resolve the fault, we are going to have to strip the car completely to look at the wiring which will take a long time ??????It has been EIGHT weeks our MG HS as been off the road and now told it may be next year before we get the car back if at all!!!My experience does not say much for the MG brand or the mechanic/engineers or the MG specialist who are still struggling to diagnosis the fault!!!! ??????I would highly advise to AVIOD MG at all costs.

Poor customer service from MG UK.We bought a new MG3 as we were happy with
Poor customer service from MG UK.We bought a new MG3 as we were happy with our aging MG6.MG dealer that sold us the car fell out with MG and would no longer service the car. They were close to home and I pass by on my way to work so all should have been fine. They gave poor training from MGUK, customer complaints and returns and poor build quality as some of the reasons why they dropped their MG dealership. The MG3s timing chain failed and were were expected to take the car to the next nearest dealer which was at that time an hour and a half away. MGUK refused to allow us to use a local garage to repair the car despite this dealer not being at all local to us. MG UK had not notified us that the MG dealer that we bought the car from new had stopped selling or servicing MGs. Nothing from them at all and first we knew was when I tried to book the MG3 in for its first service. The nearest MG garage was one hour thirty minutes drive away and expected us to have the car taken to them at our expense. They would not lend us a courtesy car as they had ran out! Not a great sign in itself. So, despite the car being under warranty, it was cheaper for us to pay for the car to be repaired locally as our trusted local garage is only a mile away, lent us a car, repaired the MG3 quickly and collected the car on a truck.MGUK manager was unhelpful and said that no other MG3 timing chain had failed. So, surprised when our local garage gave us the packing which said Good Will on it. MGUK had received revised timing chain kits free of charge from China as they knew it was a common problem but MGUK charged for the part. That is dishonest. To this day MGUK deny that there is a problem with early MG3 timing chains. Then the clutch failed. Still under warranty but again cheaper just to pay our local garage who again did it without fuss.Mechanic saved us the bits of the clutch which had disintegrated.MG3 is a generally good budget car and all would have been fine if MG UK had been reasonable with us.The arrogance of MG HQ was astonishing and they treated us with contempt. The manager that I dealt with on the phone and email was most unpleasant.I was an enthusiast and used to speak highly about the car when we first got it but now compare to our old Nissan which never let us down. So, if you want a good car on a budget, buy a Nissan as it will save money in the long run.

Very poor experience at Bushey Heath MG. Difficult to make contact as phone
Very poor experience at Bushey Heath MG. Difficult to make contact as phones are not answered and emails were not replied to. When I did manage to book a test drive, I arrived and there was no car for me. Dealt with Tony, who once again never got back to me about rebooking the test drive. Rather than answer my questions about the car, Tony asked me to read the brochure instead, whilst he checked his phone. Because Tony never replied to any emails, I contacted customer services to rebook the test drive. Whilst doing this I shared my experience with them. My feedback was obviously shared with Tony, who rudely refused to deal with me or let me test drive the car on my return because of my honest feedback. My mother had previously test driven a car at the same garage a few weeks before and had warned me that the staff there were not particularly friendly, but I can now add lazy, obnoxious, aggressive and unprofessional to the description.

I bought an MG ZS Excite (yeah did anything but) 2018 from brand new and it was the very worst car Ive ever bought. It was the only time Ive ever bought a brand new car and it will certainly be the last time too.MG customer service as well as the dealership I bought it from were awful, blamed me for the faults, refused to help and refused to accept the rejection of a faulty vehicle. The main fault (and in my view the most dangerous) was the car stalled whenever it liked due to the dangerous stop/start system. This meant you could be at a roundabout, at a junction or even when you are doing 70mph down the motorway and it would just cut out. Sent it to the dealership to investigate but MG said it was a characteristic of the car, lmfao. What rubbish. The next fault was the car had a grinding metal sound each time it reversed. Dealership said that was a characteristic of the car as well and even said it was harmonic LOL. It had all the harmonic prowess of a bag of spanners trying to sing Av Maria in the Royal Albert Hall during the first lockdown. The car went to the dealership yet they said they couldnt replicate any faults.....funny that because as I drove it to the edge of their forecourt, it stalled. I even reversed the car in front of the customer service manager and it was a very clear grinding metal noise, yet they still refused to accept this. The dealership customer services manager (I use that word lightly) because he was meant to be the manager but he was more of an antagonist in trying to cause trouble and wind me up. He mouthed off at me on the phone yet he hid away when I came to collect the vehicle, then when he did come out (after I demanded he came and saw me) he blamed me and shouted at my wife for the issues so I got in his face back and he walked away laughing at the fact that i was being left with a car that was faulty and they were happy that they refused to help (that was Roy Tolleys in Colchester if you want to know what dealership that was).I then got a DEKRA independent report done myself that proved beyond doubt the car was not fit for purpose, faulty, had pitted brake discs, bad brake pads, poor clutch, was underpowered and should be rejected. MG and the dealership still refused to accept this and said it was my fault, yet DEKRA proved the car was faulty from manufacture and no way a driver could have caused those issues. The MG 7 year or 100,000 warranty is about as useful as a one armed trapeze artist with an itchy bum. Nothing is covered, they will blame you or say its a characteristic of the car. So please dont be fooled by it. I then webuyanycard the vehicle because as MG and the dealership insisted so much that it was a safe and faultless car, I therefore (as they are the experts) thought ok, it must be fine to sell it on. I got more money back than I paid for it and then COVID hit and their showroom closed for a long time and sales plummeted so....even though they (MG and the dealership), tried scamming me, they lost way more than I did, and I continue to put people off buying an MG at every possible opportunity because after my experience I feel that they are absolutely rubbish cars, cheaply made, unreliable and the warranty isnt worth anything at all.So avoid at all costs. Buy any other brand just not MG as youll really regret it and as the other bad reviews here seem to show....my one is not an isolated incident by any means.

Awful Customer Service lines- fav phrase will give you a call back, or we will pass you on...disconnect!!Lost my car keys which I was advised I had to go to MG to order and that I could only have the key configured with them rather then being able to use a key specialist who could of come to my house and made my life a lot easier. After 3 days of trying to get said key around, I was then told that I actually had to go into into branch with no car to actually get it ordered. This was meant to take 2days to order with a call to let me know when it had arrivedAfter not hearing from MG I called them everyday to which I was told I would get a call back, after the 10day when I finally got through without getting passed on and getting cut off I was advised my key was actually there, no contact nothing from them prior to this to let me know it was available.Ive managed to get my car to them via break down they advised the break down team they could look at it that day Ive now been waiting two days to get my car back with everytime I call either getting cut off before I can get through to the Swindon Branch or just being told they will give me a call back to which I never get a call back.Absolute shocking customer service Would advise not to get a car with them that needs any servicing or part replacement, as the whole process just takes toooo long to sort!!! Im now 3 weeks into this ordeal and still have no car and stil waiting on a call back.
