Hyundai Launches Quirky Ioniq 5-Powered EV Getaway Hotel In England
Posted On: October 9, 2022

Guests in England who want to be more in touch with their electric cars can now enjoy a relaxing stay at Hyundai's new EV-powered hotel experience in conjunction with Kip Hideaways. The resort is aptly named Hotel Hyundai and is currently open for bookings. The brand says that this launch is in response to research it conducted that revealed 2,000 holidaymakers in the region are unlikely to go on international vacation due to the increased cost of living.

The special vacation destination is described as a high-end luxury cabin located on the Colemans farm covering 200 acres of historic farmlands. The cabin is equipped to be on the same standard as a boutique hotel as it includes all of the necessities ranging from premium lighting, charging points, a kettle, and a shower, all of which are powered by the Hyundai Ioniq 5 using its Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology. The hotel offers facilities that include a bar, a restaurant, and a cinema that are also powered by the electric crossover. The eating and drinking station has been curated by celebrity chef Grace Dent who has ensured that the offerings are both innovative and sustainable. All ingredients are sourced locally from the Essex region. Partnering with this section is an Ioniq 5-themed coffee lounge that boasts an espresso machine powered by the EV.

The cinematic experience employs the Ioniq 5's projector and speakers. This is accompanied by a V2L popcorn machine for movie-goers who start to feel a bit peckish. The big question is whether the compact EV crossovers have the gusto to consistently run a full-scale cabin resort. The brand affirms that thanks to its maximum AC power capacity of 3.6 kilowatts, the Ioniq 5 can power basic appliances using a special adapter with ease.

Hyundai believes that the locals will genuinely appreciate the off-the-grid experience, as the aforementioned research also revealed that locals are keen on spending their free vacation time at home. This is predominately due to the desire to support local businesses, minimize travel, and lower their overall carbon footprint.

The only question is, what happens when the cars run out of juice; how are they recharged? This novelty resort looks cool, but is it truly sustainable? Hopefully, solar and wind will generate energy to recharge the cars.

Buying a Hyundai was the worst mistake of my life! Too many problems. Now after 44,000 miles my air conditioning is going out and I was told that my warranty has expired. Never again will my family purchase from this company again!!!! I hate having to give them even one star.

I bought Hyundai Starex end of the year 2008. On 06.07.2011, while driving engine, oil was leaking badly and stopped the vehicle and towed to Hyundai Service Center at No-1, Jalan Johor Jaya, Taman Perindustrian Plentong, Johore Bahru, 81750 (Mileage 145447). Because of warranty, they replaced new engine. Old engine no. ** New engine no. **. On 26.09.2011, I send the vehicle and complain: 1. Oil leaking at power steering area / Intercooler hose area.2. Noise at engine area on acceleration. (Turbo area). After checking, they said nothing and all in good condition. Some foreman refused after checking the engine, its not a new engine. Its a used engine, but Hyundai Service Center said its a new engine. If new engine, why this much problem?.On 11.04.2012 in the morning, when starting the engine, I saw white smoke. I drove the vehicle to Hyundai Service Center at same place. Service Center sent me the quotation (estimate repair charges): 1.Turbo charger assy - Rm 315.00 2. EGR valve - Rm180.00 3. Intercooler - Rm180.00 4. Cover assy-rocker and / Gasket - Rm 45.00 5. Repair oil leaking at timing area - Rm 45.00 6. TQ gasket rocker cover 224414a400 - Rm 58.95 7. Service tax - Rm 45.00Total charges - Rm 10,525.25. They asked me to pay myself the repair cost. I already made a complaint about leaking oil from engine and noisy turbo. After changing the new engine, they never take action on it. Why no warranty? Why I cant claim? Every time, Im having problem with this engine.

Fuel tank of Hyundai Matrix - I was driving may car on Ras Sidr Road, Sinai, Egypt, when I heard the sound of a little stone. It was moved by the tire, hitting the underneath of the car. Then when I went to a fuel station to refuel, some people told me that there was a continuous heavy gasoline discharge from the underneath of the car. Inspecting the gasoline source, I found it coming through a hole in the fuel tank caused by that little stone which had hit the underneath of the tank. Inspecting the hole, I found a linear crack intersecting with a circular hole. I had a technician dismounted the fuel tank, soldered it, and re-mounted it.Here, I want to express my deep astonishment for a hole to happen to a car fuel tank by a little stone hit, since a stone hit is a very likely thing to happen to a moving car and must logically be taken account for during the tank design. Being still subject to the possibility of the danger of solder failure, which is a very high dangerous matter, this was fuel explosive and fire hazard for my family if the problem was not detected and repaired.I am asking you to: 1. Search for the cause of such damage, so as not to happen again to other people. 2. To remount a new fuel tank for my car.

The 2012 Sonata is NOT a safe car as advertised. This fire happened without any real warning other than a small knocking sound for only a few minutes before bursting into flames. This car was up to date on service and oil changes and only had 25,000 miles on it. It was brand new when I bought it. Almost died seeing as though no check engine light came on and temp gauge was normal the entire time. Even when on fire.

Hyundai Finance and Leasing have given me the impression that they think its a great place to work, if it wasnt for the customer. Hours of being on hold. Not getting through. Then Getting through, just to get forwarded to another department, which usually gets you disconnected. Total incompetence! Total lack of any basic communication skills or work function. Cant even catch up a late payment due to no statement being sent, after 36 consecutive ones. No person to talk with to resolve anything. Steer clear of this car company.

I am hoping this will help me in some way. In Aug of 2014, I spoke to Hyundai Motor Finance (the company I am having issues with, not the dealership) asking what I need to pay and how I need to pay to get my lease balance paid down so the dealership will buy my Sonata from me. The bank told me to just pay the X” amount of dollars needed through the website. I do that and the payment hit on Aug. 20th. I go to a dealership, and they tell me a payment was not shown on their end and they will not help me. I called the bank and they said the payment, should not have been processed like that and that they will re-apply it so it reflects at the dealership. Almost 1 month later it was re-applied, on Sept 18th 2014. I go to another dealership, someone met worked at this one, gave me the same exact answer. I call the bank again and once again I get another another answer. I have 3-wayed myself, the bank and several Hyundai Dealership reps (including management) and no answer was the same. The number at the bank wouldnt show up at the dealership. My payment would not show up at the dealerships. The bank reps told the dealership to just pay a certain amount, they would not send the dealership an official notarized invoice saying how much is owed. It was pretty much just ‘take our word for it’ type of deal. Basically another dealership told me they will not go by HMF word because they do not TRUST them and has had issues. How come the Hyundai bank and dealership not work together and have the same financing system is beyond me. The dealership told me to get a refund from the bank and give them the money and they will pay the difference that way. So from the end of September till this day, I have been waiting to get a refund. I have spoken to managers and reps and everyone has ** and have not helped me. I sent $8500 in August and still waiting to get some of it back. I spoke to 4 different managers and was told I would get a call back. No one has ever called me back. I ask them if they see the notes saying for a call back and it is all written there. Either the manager is on lunch or in a meeting. Right! In Oct, I was told a check would ship Oct 4th. I call back Nov 12th asking when it was shipped and they said Nov 5th and shipped to your current mailing address. I call back Nov 18th asking where this check is and they said it was shipped yesterday, Nov 17th.” Make it worse they shipped it to my old mailing address!! They apologized for not adding the mailing address. How do they make such a mistake when they ask you for your address at the beginning of each call? I speak to a manager right after that. She told me she would put a stop to the check and get a check over-nighted to me. Ashley the manager promised to call me back that day. Never did. I call back that evening and shes allegedly on Lunch!! Sure. Call back today Nov 19th and every single manager is in the meeting. Guess what, I was supposed to get a call back. NOTHING!! NO CALL BACKS AND NO REFUND!! Top it off, this car was supposed to be turned in Aug before my car insurance was due. I have had to pay for full coverage for 4 months for a car I am not driving.

At 61000 miles, my power steering on my 08 Elantra failed - told by dealer service the sensor had to be replaced but since sensor so embedded within steering column, the only way to fix was to replace whole column. Because car was 1k miles over warranty, Hyundai would not cover - they paid half. Fast forward to today - just 40k miles later, power steering failed again. I cant afford the cost for Hyundai service to fix again. This is also not the only repeat problem Ive had with the car. Wondering if I have a lemon or if there is a different problem causing the sensor to fail. Reported to Hyundai - they wont do anything for me since they helped with the cost last time. Dealer told me they have never heard of anything like this and they say there is nothing they can do without approval from Hyundai corporate. Guess Im stuck with a car I cant drive. Hate companies that dont stand behind their product.

This is typical for dealerships but theyre not long for this country. I have a senior citizens vehicle in my shop with a faulty block that was faulty from the manufacturer. I attempted simply to very parts through Hyundai and they said, You have to prepay in order to get the parts and two days later they might have the parts in the dealership. The parts for example are pistons, which with the dealership are $90.00 each for a grand total of $400 and change after taxes and other frivolous charges. The exact sane parts coming from Thailand at another place is $90 out the door, including shipping AND you receive at your door the very next day. These people are greedy and worthless. Their products stink! Their service sinks! Their greed is obvious! AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!

Engine fails to start: I leased my 2014 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid on Sept. 2014 and it has been in the shop 12 times in last year and half. When trying to start, all console warnings beep, the interior and exterior lights flash off and on and the brake pedal goes up and down on its own. You cannot stop it and it continues until it drains the battery. I have complied with everything the service department have told me to do from jumping it and bringing it to them, having tow truck bring it in, turning off lights, radio, and a/c before turning it off but the problem continues and the service techs can find no problem. They provided a loaner twice but am now being told as it sits in shop this time that Hyundai will not pay any more for a loaner.I opened a case in Dec and was told if problem continued to call. I called again when problem occurred but was told I needed to open a new case. So here I go again. The manager offered the dealer I purchased it from will not return my call and the first case manager will not return my call and the service tech does not know what to do with it. Im at wits end. I just want out of my lease with no fees or early termination charges and walk away from this nightmare. I have owned 3 other Hyundais and always praised Hyundais but no longer. I will not be purchasing another Hyundai and I would dissuade anyone I know from buying from this company. I am learning they do not stand behind their products.

This is our 4th Hyundai, second Tucson. You have lost a customer. This 2017 limited Tucson turbo is terrible... the transmission is awful... hesitation, jerking. I have had it to the dealer several times to be told “nothing is wrong”. They tell me they are aware of the problem but until Hyundai does something to fix the issue their hands are tied. In October 2013, I purchased a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. Unfortunately, I trusted my local dealer because Ive had a good relationship with them for four years. Thats no longer a true statement. While shopping, and let me say it was a 6-hour ordeal trying to purchase the car on day 1, I mentioned numerous times that I drive 200 miles round trip to work. I finally picked a car and had to wait hours to get into the finance office to firm it up. While waiting, I noticed that the sticker on the window said the car comes with an emergency tire puncture repair kit in lieu of spare. I stopped the deal and told the salesman I must have a spare tire and jack. Period. He assured me that theyd get me one, but told me it really wasnt necessary because the car comes with 5 years of roadside assistance. I asked him if we shouldnt amend the paper they had asked me to sign saying they didnt owe me anything. He assured me it wasnt necessary. When it was my turn in the finance office, I mentioned to that man that we had just discussed the fact that I must have a spare tire and he assured me that the salesman would take care of me. I signed up, trusting when I shouldnt have trusted. Let me state here that I told the salesman over and over again that I did not want this car unless there was a spare. Well, turns out they did not have the certificate of origination, so I had to wait several days. Because I changed my mind about using my old car as a trade in, I went back and re-did all the paperwork. Then they delivered the car to me - not with a full tank of gas, as promised by the salesman and the Hyundai car sticker. I asked where was the spare and the salesman had the gall to say, What spare? When I reminded him of our numerous conversations, he stated, I didnt tell you that. I didnt promise you a spare. That ensued in an argument, and it didnt end well. In fact, I was instantly sorry I had bought the car. My mistake. I should have immediately refused delivery and demanded to see the manager. We told the salesman to order me a tire, and he said it would cost over $300. Well, why didnt they offer to add one on for $300 when I was paying for the car? Again, he said to me, If you get a flat, just sit in the car, lock the doors, and call the 800 number for Roadside Assistance. More lies.I spoke with the manager the next day and he said they would split the cost with me 50/50. I told him I was furious about the lies I had been told, but 50/50 was the best he could do. Since I was willing to pay $300 the day prior, I told them fine. 50/50 was cheaper than I could buy it myself. Wrong again. When I got home, I started reading the owners manual and on page 10, in fine print, it said that roadside assistance is good for 5 years for everything EXCEPT flat tires when the person was provided with an emergency puncture kit.I had just cancelled my personal roadside assistance plan! How in the heck does Hyundai think a puncture kit is going to help if I have a flat 100 miles from home, or late at night when no garage is open? This is a safety hazard. Even worse, they are using unfair consumer trade practices. The big signs on the dealership wall saying 5 YEAR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE sure dont have an asterisk and fine print below telling you what it doesnt cover. The salesman never once said they could not offer me a spare and jack as an option. In fact, he blatantly lied and said roadside assistance would cover me if I had a flat. Now let me tell you something Hyundai should understand. I would prefer to have NO ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE and a spare tire than this pack of lies! They obviously didnt do any focus groups before they implemented this stupid marketing measure. They have lost me as a customer forever, and I believe a class action lawsuit is in order. As for the local dealer, they have lost my business. They sell Hyundais exclusively, so they better start praying for their business. They are going to learn that being disingenuous to customers in a small town will put them out of business more quickly than anything else. As for me, Hyundai sucks as a company. Id give anything to go back in time just a few days. Id rather give my purchasing dollars to a company with ethics.

On Memorial Day, I purchased a Hyundai Tucson Sport AWD 1.6L Turbo. This is my first time purchasing a Hyundai and I really made the purchase because of the warranty. Now I am having buyers remorse. The vehicle I purchased drives great on the highway, but is not easy to drive in city traffic. I experience a lot of hesitation and jerkiness when pressing on the gas pedal to accelerate from a complete stop. I have complained about this to the dealer and was told I need to get used to the gas pedal because that is the nature of the turbo engine. I have also experienced a lot of static on FM radio stations. The owners manual mentions that static does not mean there is anything wrong with the radio, it is just a poor signal coming to the car due to distance from the tower or perhaps trees or buildings blocking the signal. I have even experienced outages when I tune into XM stations using Sirius. I will get silence for up to three minutes. The dealer told me to bring it in at my convenience and they will check out the radio, but I have a feeling if it does not act up while they have it, they will just re-iterate what the owners manual says. I have never had these issues with any of my previous vehicles, so I think these are design issues with this model. I am not a happy Hyundai owner to say the least.

The 2006 Hyundai Accent had low maintenance and also the cost for repairs and the upkeep for the vehicle was always very inexpensive. In addition the vehicle had great mileage on gas which helped when gas was $5.00 a gallon. It was also compact in size which made parking easy and had a 4 cylinder engine. I slid off the road and called roadside assistance. I had been pulled out about a month ago, also. This time they said they would not pay for being pulled out. We have had a severe winter and have had a lot of ice and snow. On the Hyundai advertising it says, 5 years unlimited roadside assistance, with 24/7, 365 day service. The roadside assistance representative said they recently changed their rules. (Almost a year after I purchased my 2013 Sonata) I talked to representative **. She never told me what rule they changed. I told her they couldnt change the rules retroactively. She said they could and did so. She referred me to the towing service subcontractors. (Cross Country Motor Club) The motor club informed me that the car had to be less than 10 feet from the road, to be pulled back onto the road. I asked him who made that new rule and they could not tell me that. I told them that if a car slid into the ditch, it would be 10 feet from the highway 90% of the time, and that would make roadside assistance unusable 90% of the time. I threatened to go public to the internet and also press a possible lawsuit. My car is well within the 10-foot rule. They still refused. I’m handicapped and a senior citizen. The roadside assistance was a major reason why I purchased the car. Now, Hyundai is going back on their word. I started to call my dealer and before I could talk to him, a towing company called and said they would be at my place within 2 hours. I called the towing company and asked if Hyundai was paying for it and they said yes. Hyundai previously said they would call to get me help, but I would be charged $170.00. I dont think that any customer should put up with a company that treats its customer in the above manner.

I have a 2009 Sonata with leather seats and 56,000 miles. It’s still under the so-called bumper-to-bumper warranty. The leather on the drivers seat is cracking and peeling (the same thing happened to my 2007 Elantra). The dealer said it was a wear item and not covered by warranty. I asked them to show me where in the book does it say this, and they pointed to a short sentence that says any wear item is not covered under warranty. They told me Hyundai has a list of not covered items. I called Hyundai to complain and the first thing he said is We have an extensive list of items not covered by our warranty. Wow, it would be nice if they put this in the customers warranty information. He put me on hold, and then came back and said that seats and upholstery are not covered by any warranty, not even for one day for new vehicle. It would also be nice if they told the truth in their advertising. They use the warranty to sell their cars, but they are in fact lying about their warranty coverage.

In June we leased a 2017 Tucson Limited. Our current 2015 Sonata Limited lease had 4 months left on the lease but we were fine with paying those months so we could head out on a 3-month road trip in the new Tucson. The dealer told me that when I turned in the 2015 Sonata it would be inspected by their Hyundai turn in person. I made arrangements with the Jim Clicks Hyundai lease turn in specialist who was the Used Car Manager to inspect my car a few days prior to the actual turn-in date. I wanted to make sure there were no issues with the car. I had the pre inspection and he told me it was the cleanest turn-in he had inspected. A few days later I did the actual turn-in and received a turn-in acceptance sheet stating no issues.Hyundai lease told me I would receive a statement in 60 days with the final lease payment charges. When the statement arrived I noticed $115 charged for wear and tear. I called Hyundai Finance and was told one of the tires had less than 4/32 tread remaining and that they needed to buy a tire before they could send the car to auction. This sounds like BS to me. The car had 35K on it at turn-in and the OEM tires should not have been worn out. I was also told that the dealer turn in specialist is not the real inspector and that the car was inspected by a third party company in Phoenix. The reason I had the pre inspection was so I could correct any issues before I had an unanticipated charge. I am paying the statement in full today but this issue has left a sour feeling with us regarding dealing with Hyundai in the future. Our first Hyundai which we still have is a 2006 Sonata and the 2017 Tucson will be our last Hyundai.

But here’s a breakdown of problems I have had: 1) The gauge cluster was replaced. 2) The odometer is no longer accurate. 3) The air bag computer was replaced. 4) The tie rods were replaced. 5) The sway links were replaced.6) The remote start is flaky. 7) Some points of the taillights were rubbing paint off the rear fenders (on the side). 8) The trunk kept chipping its edges because it kept touching the body and bumper when shutting. 9) The emergency brake kept seizing up in spite being used every day. 10) The engine seems to rattle more than it has when new. Yes, I know gdi engines are noisy but this one has a deceleration rattle that sounds like a timing chain or valve rattle. The last mechanic said it was normal. I had the same year and model used for a day and no engine rattle whatsoever.11) The interior has many creaks and rattles and the front end sounds down right awful of bumps from 0-50 kmh; clunk, clunk, thunk, etc. but they say all parts in front end are tight. The car is just under 80,000 kms. Most these sounds have been there since it was new. This car sounds like a 10-year old car with the front end clunks, interior noises at times and engine noises.I spoke very patiently and calmly with HMC Canada but was given no reassurance. They said, “So sorry sir, your complaints have been documented.” I ask, “Are you going to consider giving me an extended or a good deal on a warranty for this trouble pit to calm my fears about keeping her past warranty?” The response was, “We dont do that sir.” I guess I should not have been surprised.Hyundai has come a long, long way in terms of refinement etc. Ive had 4 that have been pretty darn reliable. Our 99 Accent went almost 300,000. It did not burn a drop of oil; just a lot of small parts replaced but the engine was bulletproof. But as they have gotten more complicated, the longevity seems to have dipped downwards. Ill consider something else next time because just like my washer experience, they have no interest in keeping a long time customer.

My 2008 Hyundai Veracruz with roughly 60,000 miles on it has been at the dealership for two weeks not running. There is damage to the engine and excessive sludge build up which has also damage parts around the engine. I was told that the work is not covered under warranty because it is due to lack of maintenance. I was able to produce receipts that proved I get scheduled oil changes on my car and passed on this information to the dealership. I then called Hyundai North America and filed a complaint and requested to have this work covered under the warranty since it happened from no fault of my own. It has now been two weeks and a Hyundai North America regional manager has failed to reach out to me and contact me in regards to this. I call and email and still have no answers as to what is going on with my car. I have just received a phone call from the dealership that they received an email and that Hyundai will not cover the engine damage because they still find it happened due to lack of maintenance. Nobody from Hyundai North America has reached out to me to discuss these findings. This is the second Hyundai I purchased because I was sold on Americas Best Warranty. This could not be less accurate. The customer service has been below par and the fact that they will not stand behind the warranty and fix what is broken is worse. I will never purchase a Hyundai vehicle again and I ask you to take my experience into consideration before you do. I understand that there is no guarantee that nothing will last forever and I accept that, I can deal with that. The customer service from Hyundai is what is completely dissatisfying and unacceptable.

My husband was in a serious automobile accident and passed away because of the injuries in October. He leased a Genesis and the lease was up in October. When I turned in the car I ended up owing over 2500 because of mileage overage fees. I had wrote the CEO of Hyundai and the President of Hyundai finance to waive the fees. We incurred the overage charges because we had to go see my critically injured husband in the hospital and drove over 100 miles each day. They would not waive the fees and submitted the fees to collection which lowered my credit score. I have incurred medical expenses due to my husband death and had to sell my home. I am unable to get an apartment thanks to Hyundai. My credit score was lowered and I did not qualify. I did pay this bill in full and I still had my credit score lowered. I will never buy another Hyundai again. My husband and I did love our cars but I was just blown away with how heartless these people are. We have leased two cars from Hyundai and I bought my car. They clearly got quite a bit of money from us already but they did not have the heart to help out a widow who had medical bills and is just trying to survive. In fact I am trying to figure out where I am going to live right now. I had a friend who also lost her husband and the car dealer waived the overage fees. It was not Hyundai. I wish I bought my car from another dealership. Heartless, Heartless, Heartless and Greedy.

I purchased a new 2018 Hyundai Kona. After 15000 miles I needed a new transmission (it was covered) however my dealership did not have loaner cars so I had to pay for a rental, pay for Uber to get the rental, pay for the uber from the rental to pick up the car. Then to my surprise at 20000 miles I needed 2 new tires (which had 0 coverage). I was told to call Good Year. They covered the tire warranty.... Well 400.00 later I had 2 new tires for no reason except they were worn out!!! Hyundai basically said, Oh well!!! So the wonderful warranty they shove down your throat when you are looking is not all it is cracked up to be! BEWARE.

I lease cars every three years, so Ive had many cars throughout my lifetime. Ive never written a bad review about a car or car company until now. I just turned my 2014 Sonata in early (40,000 miles) and decided to pay off the lease/lose a lot of money because I was scared for my safety. My heating and cooling unit had to be replaced, the shifter had to be replaced because it was making my car stall, the wheel wells tore off because they were made out of cardboard, the clasps on the armrest broke because they were made of cheap plastic, and the back seat material pulled apart because they only sewed part of the seats. Then there was the recent recall for the engine and seat belts at the same time. The seat belts were installed incorrectly and the engine had an issue where it could stall spontaneously while driving. The quality control for this company is ridiculous. Then the last time I took my car in to be repaired I started getting messages and flyers, within a week, from Hyundai about the car I own (I didnt own the car) and how I should extend my warranty. This has led to random warranty companies calling about extending the warranty to now receiving multiple calls a day from credit card scammers. This never happened before I had my car repaired as Im very careful about who gets my number. Clearly my number was given out by Hyundai and now its in the wrong hands. I am beyond disgusted with this company.

My father owned a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. Previously the car had shown multiple failures such as the steering unexpectedly locking or brakes making loud obnoxious sounds. A few days ago my sister and mother had gotten into a car accident. The car had went airborne and went head first and hit a curb. The car is currently totaled and my mother had multiple injuries. The airbags had not opened during the process. This is outrageous and we would seriously like to have this problem solved. Luckily no one was in critical condition, but still this should never happen.

Beware brand new vehicle tire blow out!!!! To make a long story short, I am a car enthusiast and previously a Honda, Nissan, Toyota, Mazda, and Volkswagen buyer. After hearing my co-workers speak well about the Hyundai product I decided to give it a try and went well for a few years until a couple of months ago. Just recently accompanied my in-laws to purchase their 2019 Hyundai Sante Fe Limited, shortly after a couple months ago they had a side wall blow out from the right rear tire by simply going down the road without striking any debris or objects on the road with only having 2000 miles on there new car! We were prompted to call the tire manufacture by the dealers service department to find out it was Continental Tires when owners manual stated we were suppose to have Hankook or Kumho tires? Called Continental and AND THEY STATED TIRES DO NOT HAVE ANY WARRANTY!!!! I WILL (NEVER) BUY ANY CONTINENTAL TIRES OR A HYUNDAI AGAIN! Due to the fact that manufacturers dont care about consumers safety or welfare, this tire blowout was very similar to the Firestone defective tires back in the day that caused many lives sadly. Basically if Hyundai is putting a tires on there cars that are defective and neither want to take responsibly by making it right for the consumer, frankly its not worth buying!! My In-laws sadly ended up paying for a new tire $258.00 plus install because Continental said their tires have no warranty! I just recently finishing purchasing a new Mazda, and when my in-laws are done with this Hyundai it will be their last!! FYI also you might want to have it in writing on new car tire warranty because this was a lesson learned experience with tires, reason for buying new cars is so that you dont have to be buying parts, tires, or car repair. Hopefully this will help someone in the near future. Thank you for reading.

2012 Hyundai Elantra does not get 40 mpg: I purchased the car brand new, and now, I have 12, 000 miles on the car. I drive 38 miles each way to work everyday. I drive mostly highway miles and always set the cruise at the highway speed limit. The car promises 40 mpg highway. I have never gotten more than 36 mpg. When I contacted the dealership, they said that it will get 40 mpg after I have been driving about 1,000 miles on the car. I am now at 12,000 miles, and it does not get 40mpg. This was the only reason I chose this car, and now, I am stuck with this loan for 5 years and I am very unhappy about this issue and the lack of response from Hyundai.

Hyundai prides itself in its reliability. I have a 2011 Hyundai Sonata I purchased in March of 2010. I have had nothing but problems. Within the first year, my engine began overheating due to a faulty radiator fan. This was replaced under warranty. Less than a year later, my engine began overheating a 2nd time. The dealer refused to warranty because there were more than 10,000 miles put on the vehicle since the original fan was replaced . About three months later, the car would not start while sitting in a parking lot. This was related to a faulty brake sensor. Most recently, 6 months later, the vehicle would not start because of a failed starter requiring a tow truck. A 2011 vehicle should not have this many problems. I am extremely disappointed in Hyundai and am looking to sell it in the very near future. I travel for business, and need a reliable means of transportation. I urge possible consumers to use caution before purchasing a Hyundai vehicle.

I bought a 0KM Hyundai Tucson here at Argentina, and it had its gear box ruined when an official Hyundai workshop got GL5 oil in it, instead of GL4. GL5 oil eats this type of gear boxes which have yellow metals in it, such as bronze. After this, the gear box started having several problems and malfunctions. They accepted their error but never agreed to replace the entire gear box; they just repaired it instead. By now, they have made two repairs to the gear box, and I am now having several new issues back again. They still dont agree to replace it for a new one. This would be the third time the gear box should get repaired, and the vehicle only has 80.000 KM. I am really disappointed; this is really unfair.

In Europe Hyundai offer a 5 year, unlimited mileage warranty, with Hyundai Assistance (Call us for anything you need. Even if it a tyre with low pressure, is the sales pitch). Last Sunday I called them and told them that my left headlamp was not working on my 2 year 10 month old Hyundai. Additionally it was a Sunday and I needed to drive the car at night. They sent a mechanic, but alas, he did not have a lamp (!!!). I took the car to the garage the following day and despite all the issues, they charged 60 euro (approx 78 USD) for a lamp claiming that warranty does not cover the lamps. Lol...

Im sending this email as a complaint against the Hyundai dealership in Plano Tx. (909 Coit Rd , Plano). One of your employees, Nicholas ** has a Pending Felony charge (Family Violence-Strangulation) and has also been arrested for Grand Theft Auto. This employee is giving Hyundai a bad name and owes me a sincere apology.I personally went in to Hyundai on October 7th (Friday) to order a manual for a 2011 Sonata. The man took down my information (name and number) and told me it would be in the next week (most likely Tuesday). I left and never heard from him again. One week later on October 14th, my girlfriend, Jessica ** heard from Nicholas ** (her ex husband) a salesman that works up there. He works in a completely different building than the parts department where I placed my order for the manual. He texted her and told her that her manual is in, but that I wasn’t allowed to come pick it up. He said that I made a scene when I went to place my order for my manual. Nicholas and Jessica ** are separated, and have been for 6 months. Their divorce will be final in December. Nicholas is still very upset that Jessica left him and sees me as the reason for it all. When in reality he is the one to blame. But I came in as a customer that day needing a manual for our Sonata. I didn’t even see Nicholas on the day I came in and I didn’t want to. He claims I made a scene. The scene he is referring to, is when Tarrah (a salesperson) was assisting me to the parts department and helping me get what I needed, she asked my name and I told her who I was.She immediately made the connection of who I was. Nicholas had told her, other employees, and his managers all about his personal life; making up off the wall comments and stories about me and his ex-wife. But I didn’t come up there to discuss this. When Tarrah told me all he said about us (slandering Jessica and myself), I simply told her none of what he told them was true. I then placed my order and left. That’s when Jessica got a text from Nicholas about the manual even though he had nothing to do with the order I placed. He got my information (cell number and order I placed). I’m angered by this because it is an invasion of my privacy. He is a salesperson and he shouldn’t have had anything to do with my order. Jessica didn’t place the order, I did. And I went up there as a customer. Not even wanting to deal with Nicholas. I just wanted my manual. So Nicholas then told Jessica that since I made a scene, I’m not allowed to come pick up my manual or else the police would be called. I was furious and outraged. I never spoke with the manager and was never contacted directly by him. Jessica however was contacted again this time by the manager Roosevelt, and told him my side of the story. She told him that she and I were willing to sit down with him and review the security camera where I made this scene they were referring to. The manager said that it wasn’t necessary. Jessica told Roosevelt (manager) that I planned on going to corporate offices and complaining. That’s when he stuttered over his words and quickly said he would have someone call for my mailing info and credit card number. A few days later, I received a call from someone in parts asking for my billing and shipping info. I could have just driven right back up there and dealt with them personally, but not wanting anymore drama, I gave him my info. I asked when I was to be contacted by the manager, and he said he had no clue. And when I called the next day to speak to the manager, I got the same answer, He is with a customer or He is busy at the moment. That is why I’m going over their heads and coming to you.All I wanted was my manual. I expected an apology from not only Nicholas, but also the manager. But I have yet to receive one. I came up to Hyundai as a customer, and was treated like a criminal. When in reality Nicholas ** is the criminal. He has been arrested for Grand Theft Auto, and was recently arrested for Family Violence charges (strangulation to Jessica), the charges for this recent one are still being processed. Nicholas has a temper and he hasn’t gotten over his separation from Jessica. He and his manager are giving Hyundai a bad name. I expected to be treated like everyone else, just a customer, personal life aside. My family does business with Hyundai and has for years. Its just a shame that a few people can change the way we view Hyundai. I need an apology.

I really regret getting my car from Hyundai. Id be much more content spending more each month on a different car so that I didnt have to deal with Millennium Hyundai. The Service Department is rude. Im seven months pregnant with a toddler. I needed to know if there is a lender car available while my 2012 Sonata is looked at because Im not taking public transportation in the middle of the winter. I dont make car payments each month to take public transportation. The staff was rude when I called and when I asked to speak to the general manager, they claimed that he had just stepped out. I asked that he call me back before 5pm and to no surprise, he never called me back. The manager of the Service Department was not helpful, was impatient and condescending. When I finally did make an appointment, I got called into work that morning at the crack of dawn and couldnt drop the car off. Now, Im receiving emails and phone calls telling me to reschedule. But when I called, they dont answer any of my questions or offer any help. I cannot just drop the car off with a toddler, pregnant, take the bus and make it to work. Its not possible. I need Hyundai to work with me. I am now driving around in a car that stinks of fire and gasoline whenever I turn the heat or defrost on. Mind you, I have children in the car.Never again will I buy/lease from Hyundai and dont get me started on the tire pressure issue. Also, my husband went to the used car sales section of Millennium Hyundai. You would think they could get a name like first, middle, and last; especially since weve already done business with them! They keep calling and sending letters for (middle), (last), (first). Really? I cant wait for this lease to be up so that I can be done with this computer. For me, the consequence is that Im stuck with this car for the next 2.5 years. And for Hyundai, they lost a customer.

I have a 2010 Hyundai Entourage. I purchased this vehicle thinking it would be a reliable vehicle in July 2017. It had only 125,000 kms and was in great condition. So far I havent been exactly thrilled with reliability. But my impression changed today when I went into Hyundai dealership to order new a/c-heater control panel since my button for fan speed has broken. I was told there was one available but at a stupendous price of $900.00. I pretty gagged when they told me this. I was expecting $200.00-$300.00 which is till expensive but at least tolerable. After this experience, I will never buy another Hyundai vehicle because replacement parts are sold at a totally rip off price. $900.00 for a piece of electronic that simply controls heat and fan speeds. It doesnt even have automatic temperature control on this unit.

I tried calling the number of the representative I was given 2-3 times a week just to get an update with no answer once. I emailed the customer service line which took 20 days to respond saying the sources of what I turned in (the exact items they asked for) were not good enough for the reimbursement to go through. It is now December 9th. I STILL have not heard from my representative and still have not heard if I will even be getting a reimbursement with what I sent in. Its just very frustrating. On top of all that, I tried returning my lease after finding a better deal and service at a Mazda dealership. All the local dealerships refused to take my car in at first! I encountered a snow storm on last week while driving my 2012 Hyundai Tucson. My after a couple of hours of driving, the Tucson’s power dropped and I was unable to drive the car beyond 45km, I was only able to get it into 3rd gear to get me home (which is a feature that the vehicle has). I thought it was a transmission problem. However, while getting repaired at my dealership (Meyers Hyundai) the service manager told me that the issue was: The Tucson’s AirBox was clogged with Snow and it affected the power transfer to the engine. My bill was the following (new Air filter, Plugs, and an Injection service) totaling at $583.00, by simply driving the vehicle in the snow. I have owned many cars before in the past and never had the vehicle fail due to snow. Even the Server Manager at my dealership could not believe the vehicle responded this way in the snow. WAS THIS VEHICLE TRULY BUILT FOR CANADIAN WINTER WEATHER!!! I contacted their customer relations team who responded: If the Hyundai dealership determines that the issue is not as a result of a manufacturing defect, we regret to inform you that the repair will not find coverage under your vehicles warranty coverage. Unfortunately, we regret to inform you that we cannot assist you with these repairs.

He told me that my engine is ruined due to the engine burning oil, the tip of the oil dipstick was burnt. I left to go home and my car died. I had it towed to the closest Hyundai Dealership which is the dealership in Palatine, IL.The next day I went to the dealership and dealt with Kyle ** (Im not completely sure that is his last name). Kyle is at the front desk of the service area. Kyle told me its probably going to take a month and a half & I should rent a car and Hyundai will pay $40 a day. I rented a car from September 30- November 1. On Monday, October 7, 2021 Kyle texted me and said they are looking for Update/recall 953 ECM, & said the recall was not done so my car does not qualify for the warranty. He took less than 30 seconds to tell me my car was trash & he’s just telling me what he’s been told & that I should contact Consumer Affairs!!! It wasn’t a big deal to him!! I take very good care of my car, I have all receipts for the service I have had done on my car from the places Ive had my car worked on. Needless to say I was so upset and not happy with that answer, my car has 68,000 miles on it.I have the phone number of the salesmen I bought the car from in 2014, at McGrath City Hyundai in Chicago, IL. His name is Frank, I called him and he agreed to help me since I received really poor customer service at the Palatine dealership. Kyle was less than professional or helpful. On one of the visits I made to the Palatine dealership he was so disrespectful, as he was walking away and his back was to me he said get your car out of here or Ill charge you for storage. I did let him know I was now going to be working with Frank who was going to work on my behalf through the Gurnee Dealership.Kyle was not going to let me get things out of my car until I paid $165 in diagnostic fees. I was told I didnt owe any money. Kyle did call me back and told me I dont owe anything. I can get belongings out of my car. On October 13th Frank told me he was going to have my car towed the next day, October 15th Frank said I have to call Palatine and pay a $100 fee Palatine would not release the car to Frank at his Gurnee, IL. location. I went and signed a release and was told no charge. On October 19th Frank said they were busy at his dealership and couldnt get my car. On October 20th I texted Frank & He said hed call me in 20 minutes, I never received the call. On October 22nd I sent Frank a text telling him I didnt want to bother him but I need some answers. He replied in the text that he was on the phone with Hyundai, he would text me in 5 minutes. He was almost done, never texted me. On Monday, October 23rd I texted Frank to see what was happening. He replied in a text shortly and never called or texted. On Wednesday, October 27th I sent Frank a text asking him or telling him if he cant help me please just be honest, I am desperate for answers. He emailed me back saying they just emailed him 2 hours ago that they have a conference call at 9 the next day. He said hed have a definite answer by noon, he never called me back.Frank told me about updates being done. When they are received has to be done in a certain time frame. Even if Im not aware of the updates, I didnt get notices on all the updates. Frank then gave me a phone number to get reimbursed for the rental Customer Service Specialist 714-887-2553 I have left several messages and I am not getting a return call. He had e email him the receipts. Here it is November 8th, Im no better off than I was September 29th! Frank is now at The Gurnee dealership. I called the Gurnee dealership to find out Franks last name and the person on the phone said he was new and didnt know his last name. I do have cell phone numbers for both gentlemen. I started working with Frank on October 7th. I really thought Frank was going to help me with my car and I appreciated him saying he was going to help me but he really just wasted time and I do wish he wouldve been honest with me and told me he cant help me. I had sent Frank my drivers license, bill of sales & known updates done at a Highland Park, IL. dealership. I have copies of text messages.Consumer Affairs did call me once, I missed the call they said they would call back and they have not. I am amazed how uncaring and unprofessional this company is. I have left several messages with no response. I am so tired of Hyundai taking advantage of me. I will NEVER buy or recommend to anyone buy a Hyundai. I have never experience a situation as bad as this in my life. Hyundai is not a stand up corporation in my eyes. They are failures. TOTALLY TAKING ADVANTAGE!

I bought my 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT based on the reputation, look of the car and the estimated mileage. I had previously owned an all wheel drive car - the handling of which was fabulous but was unhappy with the mileage (20 city/25 highway). The Elantras estimated 27/37 mpg was worth giving up excellent handling. Initially my mileage was 23/28 with the Hyundai and so I waited a few months thinking the car needed to be broken in. Now, a year later, I am still only getting approximately 24mpg in the city and 29mpg on the highway. I complained to the service department in September and they agreed to test the mileage.Heres what happened at the test: I topped off the tank 1/4 mile from the dealer and delivered a filled-to-capacity tank. They then drove the car 40 miles and then refilled the tank with 1.089 gallons determining that my car gets 36.73 miles per gallon. Knowing that was impossible, I drove immediately to the same filling station and put an additional .615 gallons in the tank, topping it off. Obviously, their idea of topping it off and mine were very different. With the additional .615 gallons, the mileage would have been determined correctly at 23.52 which was just about what I have been getting. When I called and asked them about it, they couldnt understand my point and stood by their test. I contacted Hyundai Consumer Affairs who spoke to the dealership and determined that there was no more they could do at that point unless I wanted pay for a test at another dealership. I was unwilling to do that if the first test had already proven to MY satisfaction that the mileage I had been getting all along was all I was going to get and another dealer, when contacted, said they would just take the mileage reading from the cars gauge to determine mpg. The gauge always shows 2-3 mpg better than what I actually get and is still nowhere need their estimated 27/37. I knew Hyundai had been fined for overestimating mpg in the past and in fact have a program of reimbursement because so many people have complained about the misrepresentation of mpg so I actually thought that meant I could trust their estimated mpg because they would not want to be found lacking in that area again. However, that is clearly not the case. At this point I feel I have no recourse except to register my complaint and hope something can be done to my satisfaction.

2013 Hyundai Tucson Engine Failure @ 125,000 miles - Lower end rod bearing failure with no warning, no check engine light and all service has been done as required. Im getting a new engine for $7000 plus, I cant buy a new car for that price, includes labor which is nearly 1/3 of the cost. Im questioning any further purchases of a Hyundai product. This has happened in several other Hyundai vehicles but no class action as yet.

Major problems from the start. Gear shift stopped working- froze in park- covered by recall. Steering column locked and had to replace. Our expense. Electrical issues - brake lights would not turn off. Now the engine failed. Burns oil and rod knock with no warning. No oil light ever came on. Told by dealer we need a new engine - was told problem is because we did not change oil regularly. Hyundai refuses to cover because I cannot produce every oil/filter receipt (sometimes had private oil change). They said it would cost $5-7000 to replace. Had it towed home and we are trying to decide what to do. Found out online there is an investigation into class action suit for engine failure by Chimicles & Tikellis. Will NEVER buy Hyundai again and will NOT RECOMMEND.

I am on my 4th consecutive Hyundai, and for the most part find them to be good value. BlueLink, on the other hand has changed my opinion of Hyundai. The customer care service, which is required to get any other service, is not valuable and Ive never used it. I paid over $3K extra for a package with push button start so I could take advantage of the remote start feature. Its ridiculous that I have to pay $200/year to use this. I would actually be much better off to pay to have a remote car starter installed. Id do this if I hadnt paid so much for the push button start feature. Ive tried calling Hyundai to see if they could offer any sort of promotional rate, especially considering that now new owners get 3 free years of BlueLink. I tried calling BlueLink customer service on several occasions and hung up after being on hold for over 30 min each. Finally, after a 45 min hold I got through and the rep was able to offer me absolutely nothing. I let him know that when I trade next time, I will be inclined to consider something other than Hyundai.

When shopping around I was looking for a convenience features. Sonata Hybrid 2016 was slightly better than other midsize hybrid alternatives. Looked at all these reviews on Edmunds and similar websites. From their perspective it looks good. After one month of driving (and pretty good experience) main battery broke. Brought it to a dealership. It took already 2 days just to localize the problem. Accordingly to them it will take another 1-2 days to get an answer from Hyundai what needs to be done. This is a car on a warranty. What happens when its out. I feel Im screwed. This is a new car. Just started to pay for it.

I had good credit and went to buy a Hyundai Elantra because I was in need of a good car, but when I applied for the credit, the guy helping me took advantage of my need. First he came to me with a 10% interest. When I agreed, he went back to his boss. Few minutes later, he came back telling me that my interest was little higher to 12%. I really needed the car so I agreed, but he went back. To make it short, I ended up paying 16% because I told him I would not pay more. I think they ripped me off because of my need and lack of experience dealing with this kind of people who take advantage of you. So if you need a car, dont go with Hyundai or at least dont use their credit and go with somebody with experience.

I was in a no-fault accident February 25 2019. I had a small little crack on the driver side of the vehicle which triggered the airbag light to stay on in my vehicle reminder the airbags did not deploy. After waiting two months for the body collision to do the basic repairs my vehicle was sent to two Hyundai dealerships and neither dealership can figure out why the airbag light was still on. I called Hyundai corporate office. They put a hold on my vehicle for two weeks. They didn’t offer a loaner vehicle or a rental for the hassle and stress I been through and just told me to have the service center work on the vehicle. After being there for a month they did not reimburse me and I have a son with a disability and they did not make anything urgent or help my situation. The claim case was missed handled. My son been out of school for two months. Very disappointing!

The main issues I have with the vehicle are fairly minor, although some could potentially be a major issues. When creating a rear deck for transporting items, the rear passenger seats dont fold down perfectly flat. I ended up building my own slide-in deck to compensate for the slightly lifted rear passenger seats. The adaptive cruise control seems a bit laggy adapting, but that is probably why the manual says it cant be trusted if theres a difference in speed between vehicles over 35 mph.I also live in California where motorcycle lane splitting is legal. The problem is it can confuse the adaptive cruise control. Very frequently Ill be going 40 mph (rush hour traffic on a freeway) and a motorcyclist will blast by in between the lanes at 60+ mph. About 50% of the time the cruise control will start tracking the lane-splitting bike and suddenly accelerate, potentially causing my vehicle to smash into the vehicle ahead of it which is only going 40 mph. Fortunately, the cruise control has always been buggy enough so I typically keep it on a short leash anyway, ready to brake. But it is a potentially dangerous annoyance. Im not sure whether its just bad luck, but my Santa Fe has been broken into more in the first year of ownership than in all the other vehicles Ive had since I started driving 40+ years ago. Its probably because its new looking and its an SUV which has no lockable trunk. But here is the problem with the vehicle: In all cases when my vehicle has been broken into, Ive been less than 100 to 50 feet away and heard nothing. In the last instance, I heard glass breaking but no alarm. As far as I can tell the alarm is useless. The blinking light on the dash is just a bad joke. Im definitely looking into some aftermarket alarms now. If there had been an alarm, as it claims to have, then I would have been alerted and been able to stop the burglary. I know this to be true because I stopped a theft on my prior vehicle because its horn went off when the window was broken, and I ran right out and chased off the burglar before he was able to carry off anything. Also, although I know this a problem of all SUVs, it would be nice to have a secure, lockable cargo area. As it is, anyone breaking into the car can easily steal anything as there is no place to hide anything, except the glove compartment. Also, when I see vehicles that have been in rear-end accidents, the vehicle doing the rear-ending usually takes most of the damage, with a crumpled hood and such. When my Hyundai was rear-ended at low speed by a sedan half its size, my SUV somehow got most of the damage. The auto repair shop sent the insurance company a $5000 bill. Which it paid, but still that suggests a fairly serious bumper design issue. Even the first vehicle I owned from 1980, a Toyota Tercel, would have not sustained that much damage if it had been hit similarly in the rear. Of course it also had thick rubber bumpers, but still, this is a $45K vehicle.

So I ventured into a 48 mo lease back in Nov. 2011 on a 2012 Hyundai Elantra Limited. I got my vehicle from a well-known dealer down by the Philadelphia Auto Mall. The deal was fine, dealership was helpful and off I went in my new Elantra. The one small issue was with the color combination I had wanted but the dealer could not deliver on. So I settled on an available color combination and was happy nonetheless. Fast forward 3 1/2 years later and like a good loyal soldier I found myself back at the same dealership. This time I went in with a printout of the 2016 Elantra Limited I built on Hyundais online site. I was feeling confident I could finally get that color combination I had wanted back in Nov. 2011... NOPE!! The dealer searched around for my color combo and basically in so many words told me the closest location they could find my color combination was about 1,800 miles away in Oklahoma City. WHAT??? I figured I still and some time until my lease ended so I told them I was not in an immediate rush so they had time to get the vehicle (or one in that color combo) to Philadelphia. That suggestion was all but brushed off and I was basically given (once again!) the impression I would need to settle on a different color combination... I ended up in another vehicle that was NOT a Hyundai. My well maintained 2012 leased vehicle with 16,000 miles under the allowed mileage went back to the dealer and months later I receive a bill in the mail from Hyundai Finance totaling $850.20!! $380.00 for Excess Wear and Tear, $400.00 disposition fee and taxes totaling $70.20. As for the Excess Wear and Tear, did I mention my vehicle was well maintained? My carpets were NEVER even stepped on since the entire interior was lined with rubber flooring! There were no tears and/or burns to any seating surfaces. There were no dents and any scratches could be classified as your run of the mill light surface marks all finishes encounter at some point! With all that said, the biggest sticking point for me is that disposition fee. Or as I like to call it, a monetary gun to a consumers head to assure you NEVER leave their side. If Hyundai had such a wonderful product, the need to place a monetary gun to ones head to assure loyalty to the brand should not be necessary!!! Needless to say, I will NOT be a Hyundai customer again and my wife who is presently a Hyundai owner will not own a Hyundai in the future... at least not while I am breathing!! FINAL THOUGHT... Would you get into bed with Charles Manson? Venturing in to an auto lease with Hyundai can be eerily similar...

We leased a new 2016 Hyundai in December 2016 and had nothing but trouble with the lease from the very beginning. Our Santa Fe was leased from a dealership in Colorado. We had no trouble on a previous lease but this time the communication between the leasing company and the dealership was horrible. The salesmen on the floor were using filthy language and the finance person didnt send the paperwork and our payment up front in for almost 60 days. Hyundai leasing called us to tell us we were late on our payment when we had not received any paperwork yet to make a payment. We set up payments through our bank and about 14 months later after the finance company did an update on their software they called again to tell us we hadnt paid our payment and our bank had not accepted the payment. We had received a confirmation number on the payment. The finance company was ready to ** us. Then I had them look at the bank info on their end. IT WAS INCORRECT!!! Our account showed no change(?). Again they fixed it and apologized to us. We couldnt wait to bring the lease back this December which by the way, was in EXCELLENT condition and 7,000 miles below what the millage of 30,000 miles. The dealership tried to sell us the car but we just turned it in. They had us sign a paper (which we never got a copy of) and said that was it and we could leave. Today we got a bill telling us we still owed $433.00 to bring the car in at the end of the lease that we were still responsible for the final payment and if there was any damage to car we turned in-we would be billed for that (???) plus a late fee if they didnt get the $433.00 in 15 days. Good grief! I had thought it was OK to drop our auto insurance when we turned it in!! What if they sold the car or were allowing people to test drive it?? We called Hyundai finance and they said it was their bill and not the dealerships. Nothing was said to us when we returned the PERFECT car. This sounds like a legal scam!! This never happened with our first lease. Why this time?? Its not like we have so so credit; it is over 800! This has been so distasteful that we will never go back to Hyundai nor will we consider a lease again. We will make sure to tell everyone we know not to lease from Hyundai. By the way; we immediately paid the $433.00 and got the CONFIRMATION NUMBER however they said it would take them two weeks to get the paperwork to us showing the lease was paid in full. Additionally, they said they couldnt send an email showing the final payment and release of the lease. I will be waiting and watching our bank account because-again-I DO NOT TRUST THEM!! We are not sure if they will do as they told us or will they say the payment didnt go through and bill us a late fee??? VERY unhappy with Hyundai and Hyundai finance.

2011 Hyundai Sonata Engine Failure: 05/09, car stalls and will not start. 05/10, towed to local Hyundai dealer Northshore, Vancouver. Service Manager says before the vehicle arrives that it is probably because I do not change the oil. Service manager asks me to authorize payment to diagnose problem. I ask him why I would do that as the vehicle is still under warranty. Service manager says that they cannot proceed without authorization, and tells me the bill will be bigger if the engine has failed. I provide 3/6 service records with the last completed only 1 month before engine failure. Hyundai Canada denies warranty, no relief of cost due to lack of Maintenance. I have asked for all records and inspection criteria from Hyundai Canada and they have declined to provide. Talk to the garage. Its a great way to ensure no warranty is paid. Have Hyundai service garage charge the consumer/customer to prove that it was the consumers/customers fault. $228 for the diagnostic, $3500 for the engine, $1600 for the labor.

I stumbled upon this website when reading about tires, and was surprised to see virtually every car company with such horrendous reviews. Then I realized its merely a sounding board for angry people with car troubles. I just wanted to share a little about my little 2013 Elantra GT. I bought it new, have done all maintenance in my garage, have used nothing but full synthetic oil and Hyundai brand parts (filters, etc to avoid warranty issues), and in return? Its been hands down the best car Ive ever owned. Nothing has failed in the first 3 years, 40,000 miles. No car Ive ever owned has accomplished that. It rides like its brand new, no squeaks, no rattles, no nothing. Comfortable as can be, averages 32 in the city, 36 on the highway. Ive owned many compacts in my life, none have come even close to this level of ride quality. Simply put, we love the car. Its our first Hyundai, and we would buy another in a heartbeat. And basically, this is merely a message to take everything you read online with a grain of salt. Including my review. Occasionally, youre going to get a car thats awful. I had one. 2012 Impala, kept it 9 months. It went back to the garage under warranty 11 times in those 9 months. Eventually, you just have to make a judgment call. Do you keep a car thats been nothing but problems? Or do you try something else. We now own a Hyundai and a Nissan and have been thrilled with them. Will I ever buy another Chevrolet? Sure! I just got a lemon. It happens. It totally stinks, but it happens.

If I can save you the trouble from leasing from Hyundai, then please listen
If I can save you the trouble from leasing from Hyundai, then please listen carefully. I have always leased my cars. Ford, Volvo, Saab, etc. Ive NEVER had an issue with a leasing company, process has been flawless. Hyundai Financial has been an absolute nightmare. At lease end, Hyundai send out a 3rd party to look over your car. There is no wear and tear allowed for a 3-year lease. The 3rd party company spends 1 1/2 hrs going over your car with a magnifying glass (true!) and then hands you a bill for $3,000. If there is a pen mark on your seats, then you have to replace the entire fabric on all the seats. They then tell you that this is just a guide for you to get things fixed and this will never go to Hyundai. Thats a lie. We took the car to have the ridiculous list addressed, spent hundreds of dollars getting tiny scratches out, the pen mark on the fabric (there were no dents, tires were brand new, under mileage, etc.), and faxed over the complete report to Hyundai. The car was in such perfect condition that when we turned it in, the dealership leasing manager called the sales manager and said they needed to buy this car. A month later, we get the $3,000 bill from Hyundai. They DO NOT send someone out to look over the car after the work is done. They go completely off the original work their 3rd party sends them. We submitted our receipts 3 times and they told us they didnt like the wording on our invoices and suggested we wrote it ourselves! I said feel free to call the company that we paid hundreds of dollars to who worked on our car 3 days. The detail shop called us, said Hyundai was extremely rude, and that was the end of that. Three months later, on Christmas Eve morning, we get a call from a collection agency that says we owe $3,000. We now have to hire an attorney. STAY FAR AWAY FROM HYUNDAI!

I have to say I WAS a huge Hyundai supporter. In fact, I referred a family member and a friend to buy one of your cars as well. I say WAS because my 2011 Sonatas engine blew and the dealership (Jim Ellis Hyundai - Atlanta, GA) cannot tell me why. They actually said it would cost $400+ if I wanted to know exactly what happened. They denied me warranty service and told me a new engine would cost $6,800 for a TWO (2) year old car. This is unbelievable to me from a company that stands on its warranties on their cars. I am sure Hyundai is aware that an unhappy customer will reach 10-20 times more potential new customers than a happy customer. I am at this time an UNHAPPY customer.

2014 Hyundai Elantra - Around 74,000 miles my engine started making a ticking noise. It would get quieter as it warmed up. When I took it to the dealership, the mechanic that looked at it said another Elantra engine went bad, this winter took a lot of engines out. We got a lot of bad engines in this winter. Something is wrong with these engines. Then he informed me that I would need a new engine. This was a Hyundai dealership mechanic that stated this. I already knew something was wrong because of the Sonata engine recall and all of the blogs where Elantra engines were going bad between 68 and 75,000 miles. I took better care of this engine than the book called for. But since I was the second owner the warranty had run out at 60,000 miles. When I bought it around 35,000 the engine sounded perfect. And it was a certified car from a car lot. Hyundai says they only warranty certified cars from a Hyundai car lot. Never again will I buy a throwaway car. In my opinion the engine need to be recalled, they know they have an issue. I am currently driving a 2018 Elantra for a week while I get another car. The engine has 2200 miles on it and I can hear the same ticking already, plus it shakes a little coming from the drive train, until it is driven at least 10 miles. The steering tends to get rigid from time to time like I am sliding on some ice.

THE WORST!! I would choose zero stars for the review if it was an option! We financed our car from Hyundai Finance in November 2019 and waited 3 months to receive our title, but we never received it. We then relocated to another state and to be able to register our car, we needed our title. So, we requested a duplicate title from Hyundai in February 2020. We still haven’t received our title because Hyundai Finance fails to address our request properly every time for TWO YEARS. We have been sending countless checks and request letters to Hyundai Finance for them to request a duplicate title from the DMV for us, but they keep saying they haven’t received any checks, even though they are all delivered. For two years now, we haven’t been able to register our car in the state we live in because of the incompetency of the Hyundai title department. There is no way to call the titles department or even send a direct email to them. We have been calling customer service for two years, asking them to send emails on our behalf to the title’s department. But still no action and no clear response!! They even sometimes hang up on me instead of addressing my concerns and requests. This is the WORST experience I’ve ever had with a company in my life!! BEWARE and stay clear of Hyundai Finance!!

Three years ago, I purchased a new Hyundai Genesis. Unfortunately, the car veered to the right which make driving difficult and dangerous. When I first brought the car in, the dealer denied a problem. When I returned shortly thereafter, they reluctantly agreed that the car lurched to the right. After a series of trips back and forth to the dealer, the tires were replaced, the alignment was redone, the electronics were revised and the problem persisted. After my 6th or 7th visit, I gave them the car and told them that I would not take it back till the problem was solved. They kept the car for months and were never able to sort it out. Meanwhile, I communicated with corporate Hyundai and they were rude. I finally invoked the lemon law and my money was returned (not the interest that I had been paying Hyundai as they held the loan on the car). Needless to say, whenever I see a Hyundai on the road, I think to myself what a poor sucker is driving that car. I will never buy a Hyundai again.

I purchased a new 2019 Hyundai Accent in November 2019 at Genesis of Cherry Hill in Marlton, NJ. This car is a piece of junk, defective, and unsafe to drive. Hyundai provides a car buyer with a 10-year/100,000 mile warranty; not because they stand by the quality and workmanship of the vehicle, but because youll need the warranty to have the car repaired. My car has been in the Hyundai Service Shop for the same problem four times since I purchased the car. The car constantly pulls to the left. You must hold the steering wheel for dear life; otherwise, you could have an accident. On 1/2/20 Hyundai Service adjusted the steering wheel sensor. Within 8 days, 1/10/20 I had to return the car to Hyundai Service for the same problem. Now, Hyundai Service determines the car needs a 4 wheel alignment and another steering sensor adjustment. On 5/19/20 the car was returned again to Hyundai Service for the same problem and the technician determines the rear solid beam axle and left and right front lower control arms must be replaced. Hyundai Service had to order these parts, so now a 4th trip to Hyundai Service was required to fix the pulling to the left. I dropped my car off on 6/1/20 and went to pick the car up on 6/10/20. I test drove the car in the presence of 2 Hyundai technicians and the service manager. After all this work done on the vehicle my car still pulls to the left. Hyundai Service had the audacity to state that all Hyundai Accents may perform the same way, really. Hyundai also indicated that the car passed their testing protocol for driving 40 mph and was deemed as a fixed vehicle in their eyes. However, on my road test the vehicle failed at 40 mph and at greater speeds. Hyundai Service has failed to address my complaint about my car and the car was left at the dealership. I have been making payments on this new car which has spent more times in the shop than on the road. Consumers should think twice on purchasing a Hyundai whether for yourself, your spouse, or child. Your safety is at risk each time you get behind the wheel of this car.

The battery in my leased 2015 Hyundai Sonata wont hold its charge. Purchase
The battery in my leased 2015 Hyundai Sonata wont hold its charge. Purchased in October of 2015 about 8000 miles and about six months into the lease the vehicle failed to start repeatedly. This went on through September of 2016 with the vehicle having to be towed to the Dealerships shop approximately every few weeks to every two months... I grew increasingly frustrated and angry about the Dealerships inability to identify the problem. Eventually I filed a lemon lawsuit against Hyundai Motors and a small settlement was paid in December of 2016. The vehicle had just come out of the shop 9/26/16 (11 days) before! I breathed a sigh of relief when for over six weeks the vehicle continued to start (it appeared that the problem had actually been resolved). THEN on the morning of 1/17 of this year when I got in the car to drive to work it failed to start... it was in the shop through 1/30... again on 3/18 and has been in the shop since then while the Dealership continues to labor over the origin of the malfunction (which even Hyundai engineers have not been able to figure out). I am grateful that the Dealership has worked diligently to make sure that at least I am given a renter or loaner vehicle. I am no longer going back and forth having the car towed to the Dealership shop. I insisted that I be allowed keep the loaner until Hyundai Motors buys the car back from me. Fortunately, the Service Manager has been very sympathetic to my circumstance and hardship and has agreed to allow me to drive their loaner (a 2017 Sonata). Unfortunately, I have not had the same experience with the Manufacturer Hyundai. Eight days after my initial contact with them (3/20) I am told that I must communicate with their legal division through an attorney... I am just livid!!! The Consumer Affairs Division of Hyundai Motors fails to provide accurate and timely important information, fails to return call as promised, and is extremely negligent in the instance of documenting the details of the Ticket the department creates. NOW... I am forced to communicate with an attorney for a second time. In the meantime the monthly payments for the lease of this vehicle are still due...BUT I AM NOT DRIVING IT BECAUSE IT IS IN THE REPAIR SHOP!!! I will update this file as my situation continues to unfold.

It is a common experience for the visors to fall around 60,000 miles on Hyundai Accents. I found 22 complaints on the internet right away, without delving very deeply. The driver visor fell on my head while driving, so I couldnt see for about 15 seconds. This is very dangerous. It also hurt my head. Had to hold the visor up until I got home. Then had to cut it off. The passenger visor fell a few months later. Called customer service and they kept telling me a case manager would call me. He was supposed to call within 3-5 business days. He didnt call for 25 days, until I kept calling and wrote a customer complaint on the Hyundai site. Even though this is quite a common issue... and a safety issue that is happening to many people, I was told that Hyundai wont do anything to help with the costs. It costs $300 to get both visors fixed.

I liked that it is safe and its not too big and not too small. It gets decent gas mileage. I liked how it looked. The trunk is quite big. It has a very good warranty. However, I wish the music system was better. Factory battery didnt last too long. I would like a back up camera and Bluetooth features to connect with my phone.

Bought a brand new 2017 Hyundai Tucson eco, I only had it for a few months and its been in the shop more than I have been driving it. All types of problems with the electrical, it is at the shop at the moment I am typing this while mechanics are scratching their heads to figure out what is wrong with it and how to fix it. I called Hyundai corporate they said they would return my call, You think they did. What a joke. They have no concerns about the safety issues with this car even though I tell them that the windshield wipers stick two to three inches from take off on the windshield. AC sounds like Gremlins are about to attack you coming from the vents. Transmission drives and shifts like somebody that does not know how to drive a stick shift when this is an automatic vehicle. Gas gauge sticks even though its full and you cant put any more in it. The gas gauge will read from a half tank to 3/4 of a tank full until you hit a bump. Including with the issues the dash lights dim and brighten by themself. This car should have yellow lemons painted all over it along with every car that Hyundai puts out especially since corporate is treating their customers this way, not a very good ethic on gaining your customers Trust or to get repeat customers. I really dont understand how this company is in business. I guess thats why our government had to do a bail out on their **. My experience alone it has been a real shady experience.

I had bought a New Hyundai I20 Era on 19th of June 2012 from M/S Advaith Motors Pvt Ltd, Bannerghatta Road, (Next to Spar), New # 1 to 5, Old # 44/1 A, Bangalore - 560076, +91-80-22966201/3. Immediately after one month of the Drive of around 400 KMS, the drum brake sound started. Since it was new car, I thought may be it needs to set or something. However after the first service I still have the same issues, then I realized it is real Problem. After that I had visited and asked them for replacement or fix of the brake system. They did some cleaning and then they gave it to me and it went fine for few days and again problem started. Now it is 3 times the Brake system has been replaced and then number of times it has been services, the brake problem persists.Due to the assurance given at the beginning of the problem by Service Manager in Advaith, I kept on going to them to fix the issues and then drive for few days and then go back again to fix the issues. Now after it was going to be one year, I raised complaint in May and then Brake was replaced to fix the issues saying that it is a service issue. However again the problem is still there. Yesterday I had Advaith Service personal visit and also see the same issues. I had driven around 10 KMS to show him the issue again and then they ask me now to bring again the Car to the Garage and then will see and fix the issue.Since I have been wasting my precious time of Visiting the garage and keeping my car in the garage for repair and replacement, I will no longer be able to do the same. I need a permanent solution. I even tried to sell the Car 2 Lakhs Less than the Amount within 7 Months of Buying due to this problem; however no one is ready to buy the car with Brake Problem. Due to the Brake issues if any thing accidental happens, Hyundai will be responsible for this. I have to use this car as I have to travel to office with the same only. I had already had minor accidents due to disturbance and also when I tried to avoid the sound. I had spent significant amounts of time and also money for this Problem, if not given permanent solution then I would not not hesitate to claim it too. So please let me know your feed back so that I can go to further Process of getting my rights.PS: I had call to the Customer Care today and they said I have to go to service center again and there is no solution other than that. And they also said complaint was raised them in May (after 11 Months) and so it is Service Issue. If I would have complained on the second month to this mail ID or Customer Care I think it would be better rather than going to the Distributor who always takes the ownership of the Product as to the Law. However now I am coming to you directly to have solution. Please let me know if you need scan copy of all the Receipts and Proof History of Break issues with Advaith Hyundai from the day it started. You can also refer the History of the Car. I am also posting a Registered Letter to the Corporate address.

On two occasions during the past three months the battery in my 2011 Sonata Hybrid with 31000 miles has had to be jumpstarted by AAA. After the last incident last week I took the car to the dealer where the car was purchased and the battery was shown to be in perfect condition. I was told that if the dead battery problem occurs again, I should not jump-start the car, but have the car towed in to the dealer for diagnosis. Obviously an electrical problem exists, and towing the car to a Hyundai dealer will obviously be a problem, particularly if I am out of town on a weekend. I dont believe that I should have to bear the cost of travel to my home or hotel costs because of a problem due to a Hyundai fault. Because of this problem, I cannot risk travelling out of town. Please give me some advice to deal with my dilemma. Apart from the MPG issue which I have accepted, THIS is a SAFETY matter that requires a response.

Both of the passenger windows in my 2007 Sonata will not stay up. These windows have probably only been rolled up & down 10 times since the car was purchased, because I dont normally have back seat passengers. I cant afford to have them fixed. I am retired. The left one went out first about a year ago, and then the right one about six months later. I have tried everything from wedging something into the opening to keep the windows up, to taping them. Nothing works. This is a dangerous problem when you are driving down the highway & suddenly your back windows fall down, it could cause a wreck when you hear it suddenly & look back.In my opinion, Hyundai is a good car as far as the motor goes, but they really cheaped out on the interior. Another problem I have had for about 3 years, is the visors on the driver and passenger side wont stay up. I tried velcro, but it didnt work, so now I have tied them up to the handles above the windows to keep them up.Needless to say, this looks ridiculous. The visors would block my view. I have never had a car that had these problems. Because of the cheap interiors, I will never buy another Hyundai. I do believe these problems should cause a recall, especially on the windows.

My experience with Hyundai has been one I wouldnt have expected from a reputable company. I was told I couldnt get any assistance with a car I purchased from them in April 2017. Three months after purchasing the car it was in the shop for a check engine issue. I took the car back to see why it was on when I had just purchased the vehicle. Since then my car has been in the shop a total of 8 times to date. I will continue to expose the misrepresentation Hyundai provides to the public on a daily basis with their commercials and other advertisement. As a consumer we all deserve to have the products we pay for to be operable and in good condition. Nelson a representative of Hyundai informed me I would not have any further resolution if I spoke with a manager because they would only listen to him in regards to my complaint directly. I feel every time someone drives a Hyundai vehicle their lives are in jeopardy due to the negligence on production. My car has been in the shop now for over two months to replace an engine that has been replaced for the second time in a year. I can assure you I will never recommend Hyundai products again to anyone. Do not purchase any Hyundai vehicles no matter what they offer you!!!

My vehicle is a 2009 Atos. It is still under warranty. I waited approximately five months for a reverse light switch to be replaced; the brakes have been skimmed twice in this time due to a brake shudder. When asked if this was normal, I was told that replacing the brakes would be very expensive and that they would find out. I dealt with Lisa and Tamryn as well as other workshop staff including the w/shop manager, and they indicated that they would find out if the brake situation was normal. They still have not come back to me in this regard -- it was two weeks ago. My vehicle went in for rust removal. Since I got it back, there has been wind whistle through the windows. When I received the customer service call after the service inquiring if I was satisfied with everything, I indicated that I was not and explained in terms of the wind whistle. I still have not had any response from anyone at this dealership.

In February 2016, we purchased a used 2013 Sonata Hyundai Hybrid with 47,000 miles. We also purchased the extended warranty. The car has a new car warranty in place, already of up to 120,000 miles. Total warranty period should be approximately 10 years. In March 2017, at 71,000 miles, the electrical (high voltage battery) shut down, the car just down and would not move in the middle of traffic. This happened 3 times before Hyundai was able to repair it so the car was running. This repair was completed March 30, 2017, along with a complete fluid change and tune up. Hyundai covered the battery under warranty and charged us for the fluids and tune-up.On October 2, 2017, the car completely seized up and engine began knocking. We had it towed into the Hyundai dealer. The car now had 81,000 miles total. We have contributed to only 35,000 miles. We have an extended warranty, but technically, since we are still under 120,000 miles, the car should be covered under factory warranty.Hyundai refuses to repair the vehicle, both their extended warranty department and the Hyundai corporate office claims that we are to blame for lack of upkeep. If this was not outrageous enough, Hyundai recently signed a settlement agreement regarding their 2011-2014 Hyundai Sonatas in which the customers stated in part: Plaintiffs further alleged that dealers frequently didnt replace the engine, citing the drivers alleged failure to regularly change the oil or failing to keep service records. Same thing is happening here, even though the settlement was reached and signed by all parties. There is no integrity in these large corporations anymore. We are without a vehicle in only one year (we put $10,000 and still owe).

I would like to state my utter disgust and anger at the horrible customer service I have received by Hyundai Consumer Affairs. The engine blew on my 2017 Hyundai Sonata over a week and a half ago. I had it towed to Bill Dube Hyundai in Wilmington, MA. I have been waiting ever since for someone, anyone, to give me answer as to when my car will be fixed. There has been absolutely no sense of urgency and zero care or consideration for me, the customer, who has been without a car for nearly 2 weeks. It is reprehensible that this much time has gone by and not a single person can even tell me WHEN I will get an answer. The case has even been escalated. But the person it was escalated to does not answer his phone and has a recording that he will call you back within 3-days. HOW IS THAT AN ESCALATION!!!!So now another week has gone by and Im without a car or answers. The person answering the 800 number at Consumer Affairs tells me hes going to send an alert message to Scott my case manager and if he doesnt get back to me today he should by Monday. This is the same response I got from the Bill Dube dealer last week. Well I waited until Monday, nobody called me and I still have no answers. When and if this ever comes to a conclusion I will certainly be sure to tell everyone I know and anyone who will listen to NEVER BUY A HYUNDAI. Hyundai does not back up their product or care about their customers. This is deplorable.

I purchased a 2010 Hyundai Sonata in August 2009 with 500 miles on it at the time of purchase. To date, I have had the vehicle in the service department 3 times regarding the transmission, dropping, failing and stalling, for a total of about 4 weeks in the shop. Just before the 60k mile warranty expired, the rear passenger side door handle fell apart. I had that replaced, covered under warranty. Since that time, about 5,000 miles has passed and today, the just replaced door handle fell off again in my hand trying to put my children in the car. I have tried and tried to be patient and put up with this car and all the times it has been in and out of the shop, but I am truly to my breaking point. I have to put my children in this car and travel to school, work, daycare and after-school activities. I need someone to get in touch with me regarding the possible lemon law or before it gets to that point about someone buying back my vehicle and putting me in something comparable of my choice. I am aware of the laws and my rights. Please contact me as soon as possible so we can have this resolved before anyone is seriously injured as a result of poor craftsmanship and production of my vehicle. Thank you very much in advance for your time.

In late April 2012, I bought a LIMITED EDITION TUCSON. What I particularly was interested in was the bluetooth technology with hands-free calling and the ability to load all my IPhone 5 contacts in the bluetooth/navigation/radio part. And I also had owned an Elantra for 10 years, so I was a repeat customer and looking forward to owning another, more updated. This March 4th, I brought my car in for an oil change and for the Auto Butler service that I had paid extra for (total car clean). When my car was ready, I noticed that the lights were on, so I when I attempted to turn them off, they were already off. So after a few tries, the master technician gave it a try also only to be stumped. He did NOT know WHY the lights were not turning off. Keep in mind that this car has just been serviced and everything was OK. So, he took it back in the shop & said hed have to call a Tech at Headquarters somewhere for advice. After having been there from 9 am and now it was 2:30, I just could no longer hang around that dealership so I asked for a rental. The next day, I got a call that they had found the source. It was a faulty FUSE BOX. Thats like the main electric box outside our homes. When does THAT break down? I asked what caused it many times and they have no answer. They dont know. So I asked how come when I brought my car in for an oil change & car wash - everything was fine - and when its complete, this huge event happens. They cannot (or will not) tell me how it happened or what could have caused it!!! A mystery I am not willing to live with. What if that happens again when Im on a highway or out of state? That would drain the battery and more things could happen. So I am VERY UNHAPPY with that occurrence. The next thing is that when I bought my car, the bluetooth paired with my IPhone fine and I was able to sync my contacts. All of a sudden, about a month ago, my contacts were no longer able to remain synced and so I am unable to use the hands-free calling feature for which I bought this car and I must say for the SERVICE so well advertised. Here again - there is no answer to this problem. They are aware that it is happening, mainly because they have not upgraded the bluetooth since I bought the car and their solution is: WERE WORKING ON IT. In the meantime, what do I do?I asked for some type of compensation: a new Tucson (that might have the later version)..., an upgraded car for a reasonable price.... something! But to no avail. I was told by the Gen. Manager that he would like me to drop by to see him, so he can buy me a cup of coffee!!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?? So those of you thinking of buying a HYUNDAI, think again. After Ive read all of these reviews, it is really sad to see how things have turned out for this company that used to be #1 in service. Now they really dont care! And neither should we!

I have a santa fe sport and sonata purchased within 1 year of each other. There have been several warranty issues on both cars. The company is horrible to deal with. MOst recently I called the company because of the issues I had with the dealership and they were no help because the dealerships are all independent, but the next closest dealership is over 1 hour away and you have to go to a dealer for warranty issues. When I spoke to their customer service about rental reimbursement for warranty issues, they said they do that, but dont guarantee (since it may not be a warranty issue and they dont know for sure until the car is fixed). I asked if there was a certain type of car I needed to rent and they said no and said it would be ok to get something similar to the car I own and that would be considered when issuing reimbursement. So I got a mid size SVU rental because I have a santa fe sport and then they would only reimburse about half of what I paid. If they would have been up front with me and said, the max we reimburse is $** then I would have tried to find a cheaper rental. So my warranty repair cost me over $200 in rental fees.

Bought a 2012 Hyundai back in 2020 for my older daughter with 100,000 miles on it, she drove the car for 10,000 miles and the Piston Slap started to occur, drove it right to Hyundai - get the call the motor is bad, next call Hyundai will not cover it because you are the second owner, only covered for 80,000 miles but hey if you were the first owner there would not be a issue. First off who buys a car anymore with less than 100,000 miles and a ton of money. Even with the Class Action Lawsuit they are picking and choosing which engines they will replace. We are a Hyundai family. Have owned of 6 of them and sad but true this is our last, and I will never ever recommend one to anyone.Stay away, dont make the same mistake as us, bought car for 5,000 and Dealership wants $9300 to replace the engine... This will never happen. Hyundai needs to go bankrupt and call it quits because they are not here trying to make it better for these 10s of thousands people that are out a car, plus money, time spent on making calls to corporate, filing complaints all over the place just to be told over and over and over you were denied. Just at the Dealership we are at over 5 other cars sitting there because they have denied.

I am writing to you today regarding my Hyundai Sonata Hybrid that I bought
I am writing to you today regarding my Hyundai Sonata Hybrid that I bought brand new in August 2016. It’s been less than 2 years and we already had to take our vehicle to the mechanic 4 times to the Hyundai maintenance service. After going to Hyundai mechanics numerous times they are still uncertain about the fault in my vehicle. My wife and I have been very disappointed with our first Hyundai Sonata. Numerous times we have gone back to the Hyundai maintenance shop to attempt to have our vehicle fixed, which then follows up with me getting a rental car for the day. The very following next day I have to pick up my car again as the mechanic tells me the issue is resolved but it’s not. I’ve listed the days below for details when my Sonata has malfunctioned.Heading from Santa Clara to San Francisco about 40 miles drive. Was looking for parking and when in the middle of the road my vehicle decided to stop without any warning. It wouldn’t start and we had to wait about 20-25 minutes for my car to start again. We followed up with Hyundai the next day and they said they didn’t find any issues with it. Therefore I wasn’t able to have any record of it in the Hyundai maintenance system. The second time it occurred when my wife and I were heading to Long Beach for our Babymoon. Our issue happened multiples times during our trip. Every time we stopped by at the gas station our vehicle malfunctioned. We had to wait 30 minutes before the car would start again. At that time I felt very unsafe as I had my pregnant wife with me and was hoping the car wouldn’t stop while I was driving. Due to the malfunction, our trip was not only delayed but dangerous for my wife.During this time they had found a fault in the vehicle and had to replace BMS. Invoice number ** on Feb 7th 2018. Our third accident happened after getting my vehicle back from the maintenance, I had to go to SF Airport to pick up my friend and the car stopped again! Replaced OPU, OL Pump Unit. Invoice number ** on Feb 14th 2018. The fourth accident happened when we had an emergency and had to take our dog to the vet for his surgery and after dropping him off my car stopped again! Replaced PRA. Invoice number ** on Feb 20th 2018. Mileage of my Vehicle still under 50,000The Hyundai service center has not been able to find the problem and resolve it even after having numerous types of test. After going to the Hyundai service center numerous times, I have the fear of my vehicle of being very unsafe and I don’t want to take any kind of risk with my family in it. I am afraid that my vehicle will stop at the stop light or worse during the drive. Looking forward to hearing back from you regarding Hyundai Malfunction Issue.

Incident: vehicle (2016 Genesis 3.8 AWD) completely lost throttle power in the MIDDLE of a busy road. Fortunately no property or personal damage occurred. Car was towed and ALL rentals from local dealers were out secondary to Sonata recalls. Defects were found to be throttle body and actuator. Reason for the complaint: 1. Vehicle was purchased brand new, less than 40K and 3 year old vehicle shouldnt have such a defect. 2. Since all local rentals are out, Hyundai/Genesis did not take the initiatives to offer customer with an alternatives and follow ups are very slow and ineffective. Hence the complaint, and shame on their boast of 100,000 warranty guarantee.
