2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5

The 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is an all-electric compact crossover SUV known for its futuristic design, fast charging capability, and spacious interior. Built on Hyundai’s dedicated electric vehicle platform, the Ioniq 5 combines long driving range, strong acceleration, and advanced technology. It competes with other electric crossovers such as the Tesla Model Y, Ford Mustang Mach-E, and Volkswagen ID.4.

Overview

The Ioniq 5 stands out because of its distinctive styling, inspired by Hyundai’s classic 1970s Pony concept combined with modern LED lighting and aerodynamic lines. Despite being categorized as a compact SUV, its long wheelbase provides interior space comparable to larger vehicles. The 2026 model continues to focus on efficiency, comfort, and cutting-edge technology.

It seats five passengers and offers flexible interior space, making it practical for families as well as commuters transitioning to electric vehicles.

Electric Powertrain and Performance

The 2026 Ioniq 5 is available with multiple electric drivetrain configurations.

Standard versions include:

Single-motor rear-wheel drive configuration.

Dual-motor all-wheel drive configuration for improved traction and acceleration.

Key performance specifications include:

Horsepower: about 168 hp to 320 hp depending on drivetrain.

Torque: up to about 446 lb-ft with dual-motor models.

Transmission: single-speed electric drive.

The all-wheel drive version provides significantly stronger acceleration and traction, making it suitable for a variety of driving conditions.

Acceleration and Driving Performance

Electric motors provide instant torque, giving the Ioniq 5 quick acceleration for an SUV.

Typical performance figures include:

0–60 mph in approximately 4.5 seconds for dual-motor models.

Top speed around 117 mph.

These numbers make it competitive with many performance-oriented electric crossovers.

Battery and Driving Range

The 2026 Ioniq 5 offers multiple battery options.

Standard battery: about 63 kWh.

Long-range battery: about 84 kWh.

Estimated driving range varies depending on battery size and drivetrain.

Standard range models: around 245 miles.

Long-range models: up to about 318 miles.

All-wheel drive models: around 259 miles.

These figures make the Ioniq 5 competitive among modern electric SUVs in terms of range and efficiency.

Charging Capability

One of the standout features of the Ioniq 5 is its ultra-fast charging capability.

Key charging features include:

800-volt electrical architecture.

Peak DC fast-charging capability of about 250 kW.

Charging from about 10% to 80% in roughly 18–30 minutes depending on charger speed.

This fast charging system allows drivers to add significant range in a relatively short time during road trips.

The vehicle also supports home charging using Level 1 or Level 2 chargers.

Interior and Comfort

The Ioniq 5 offers a spacious and modern interior designed around comfort and flexibility.

Interior features include:

Seating for five passengers.

Flat floor design due to the electric platform.

Sliding center console for added flexibility.

Available leather seating surfaces.

Heated and ventilated front seats on higher trims.

The long wheelbase provides generous legroom for both front and rear passengers, making the cabin feel larger than many competitors.

Cargo space behind the rear seats is approximately 26 cubic feet, expanding to nearly 59 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded.

Technology and Infotainment

The 2026 Ioniq 5 features advanced technology and digital displays.

Key technology features include:

Dual 12.3-inch digital displays.

Touchscreen infotainment system.

Navigation with real-time updates.

Key safety features include:

Forward collision-avoidance assist.

Adaptive cruise control.

Lane-keeping assist.

Blind-spot monitoring.

Rear cross-traffic alert.

Highway driving assist with semi-autonomous capability.

These systems help reduce driver workload and improve overall safety.

Dimensions and Size

Length: about 183 inches.

Width: about 74 inches.

Height: about 63 to 64 inches.

Wheelbase: about 118 inches.

The long wheelbase is a key factor in providing the spacious interior layout.

Trim Levels

The 2026 Ioniq 5 lineup typically includes several trim levels:

SE Standard Range.

SE Long Range.

SEL.

Limited.

XRT (rugged-styled variant).

Higher trims add luxury features, upgraded audio systems, larger wheels, and additional technology.

Base models: about $36,600.

Mid-level trims: around $39,000 to $45,000.

High-end trims: up to roughly $50,000 or more depending on options.

Overall

The 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 remains one of the most innovative electric SUVs available. Its combination of long driving range, ultra-fast charging technology, spacious interior, and modern design makes it a strong competitor in the rapidly expanding electric vehicle market.

For drivers looking to switch to electric mobility without sacrificing comfort or practicality, the Ioniq 5 offers a well-balanced mix of performance, technology, and everyday usability.

We have a 2012 Hyundai Sonata Limited with 30000 kms on it and it has been at the dealership in Fredericton, NB for 7 weeks now waiting for a wiring harness which was diagnosed after replacing the computer and fuel pump. The engine light continues to come on time after time. The wiring harness arrived this week after 7 weeks only to discover Hyundai sent the wrong one after being hand made in Korea. Now they tell me they have another one coming from Alabama, amazing how that got there. On top of this problem, since we bought the car new, we have had constant steering problems with the car which cant seem to be fixed, along with the alternator pulsating and the battery going dead. After contacting Hyundai Canada several times, I keep getting the run around and they will not put me in contact with someone that has some decision making power. This car is unsafe to be on the road as it self accelerates when the engine light is on.

My engine light came on when the car had about 70000 km. I checked and no oil. I towed the car in and after a week, Streetsville Hyundai told me that it was the oil pump building up pressure and forcing all the oil out of the engine. They assured me that replacing it will solve the problem. BTW, during this repair, I was also told that the alternator belt and the steering belt were all cracked and needs replacement at my cost. I have never heard of this happening in a car that is only 3 years old. 2 weeks later I noticed the car had problem picking up speed while changing gear and would rev to 5-6K before kicking in. 3 days later, the engine light came on again and no oil again. This time apparently the whole engine needs to be replaced because something in it is completely broken when they took the engine apart. After taking my whole car apart for diagnostic, I was told that my clutch was also completely burned out because I was riding the clutch. This is my third standard cars. The first one lasted 11 years with almost 200 K without a new clutch. The second one was 8 years old with 160K when I traded in without ever changing clutch. They are machining my flywheel and changing only the clutch disk and wanted to charge me $500 for parts only. First of all, I am convinced that my driving habits were not responsible for the clutch burning and second parts only should not come anywhere close to $500. I am sure that the problem was caused by the engine. I checked and learned that if there is oil on the clutch, it can cause slippage and burn my clutch. Still arguing with Hyundai warranty. I have to agree with everyone that Hyundai warranty service is not very helpful at all when you call them to address the issue.

In September 2011, I purchased a 4 ton truck from Hyundai East Rand. I was told that the truck was 4 tons and therefore it could carry a load up to 4 tons. Upon receiving the registration documents I realized that the truck was registered as a 3 ton truck. When I inquired about this, I was told by the sales person, Allan, that this was a fault by Korea. Apart from them selling me the truck under false pretenses, the front cabin of the truck is not straight, the radio keeps skipping channels and switches on even when the trucks ignition is switched off. The truck is sluggish and doesnt feel like a new truck. The engine is rattling, the interior is coming loose and the faults just continue. I have laid a complaint with customer service, but the guy, Sibusisu, just passes the buck and sends me from pillar to post. The dealer principal, Gavin, is not interested in talking to me to sort the problem out. They have taken the truck in for 7 days to identify the problems and they havent given me a replacement truck nor have they compensated me for the loss of income. It is no fault of mine that they sold me a truck that is not up to standard. I need compensation and a 4-ton truck! !

My 2009 was more comfortable. I will not buy another. Service let me know just now as I am there that Im not the first to complain about seats. I dont believe they will outlast my payments. I was told by Hyundai warranty that I will not be reimbursed. Hyundai warranty division is inept, unprofessional and of low standards. In other words, they suck big time. I will never ever buy another Hyundai again and I will tell everyone who listen about this crappy ** company!

HYUNDAI IS THE WORST WORST WORST! I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO TALK TO SOMEONE IN CORPORATE FOR OVER TWO WEEKS. Everyone in my family owns a Hyundai. My son has a 2012 Sonata that started burning oil. He brought it to Star Hyundai who fixed the problem but actually made things worse. He then brought the car to Plaza Auto Mall where he purchased the car and was told he needed a new engine due to what Star Hyundai did. The warranty claim was denied because they said he never had an oil change. He then produced 8 receipts showing all the oil changes he indeed did have and still they declined the warranty work. He was told that we had NO RIGHT to know why it was denied. On Feb 16TH I spoke to a MS. ** who said she would get back to me within 48 hrs to find out why it was denied. It is now March 5th and still no call back. Today I called corporate and theOPERATOR would not let me tell her what the problem was. When I tried to speak she said SHUT THE ** UP then she hung up. I called back repeatedly and every time she hung up. I have traded in my car and will be buying a Subaru. My son unfortunately was so desperate he traded in his car at Plaza Auto Mall and leased a new Sonata - which we all regret.

We purchased a Hyundai Elantra in 2009 hoping to get at least 100,000 miles value, but to my disappointment the transmission went after 75,000 miles thankfully was still under warranty. 10,000 miles later the motor in the power steering has gone, which when we went to dealer they informed us the 10yr/100,000 mile warranty does not cover this only transmission & engine, so their bumper to bumper warranty is false. Our personal mechanic has informed us that this is happening frequently. Why has there been no safety re-call? Does some tragedy have to occur before this is a safety recall?

This is my second Accent and on the first one the paint job on the roof of the car started to oxidize. When I bought this one I asked them if it was going to be a problem again. They assured me they had fixed the problem. Why did I believe what they said. My car is almost 4 years old and I noticed that the paint on the trunk is already starting to oxidize. I like to keep my cars for a lot of years and the last thing I want is a car with a bad paint job. I would not recommend this car if you are the person who wants a car that looks its age not like a car from a junk heap.

Hyundai Getz, repair of tail light - My partner recently cracked the plastic tail light on her car. Being a Hyundai, she took it to Hyundai in Brighton Victoria and was quoted $250 for the part and installation. It sounded steep so I bought the part from Repco ($60) and replaced it in about six minutes. I am no car expert. My dissatisfaction is that we were about to get ripped off by Hyundai. It makes me wonder why we would take the car for a service anywhere near Hyundai. There was absolutely no loyalty shown to us as Hyundai customers. I am not sure if Mazda or Holden would do the same, but this performance of customer service was appalling.

Having purchased a Hyundai Elantra from a private party in April 2011, I noticed that an extra portion outside of the back seat, which pops off and down like the rest of the back seat, was bent forward. At first, I thought this was just my problem (buyer beware). But then I realized how cheaply made the material was. I could see where any person with much strength could have easily bent it if the latch was stuck. The previous Hyundai Tucson 2007 I had bought from the dealer was not at all this cheaply made. I also had the extended warranty from the previous owner, so I took it to Roseville Hyundai to be looked at. They stated that since the consumer most likely bent it, it was not under warranty. Then, Robert ** (the service consultant at Roseville Hyundai) agreed that it was cheaply made and stated that the quality in Hyundai vehicles has greatly diminished since 2007 and the recession. I then called Hyundai Consumer Affairs and spoke to Allison. She said the same.

Your roadside assistance is horrific.. I had a flat tire. Could not inflate with your inflate a tire. The tire was tore up because you didnt have spare. Had to call roadside. They never showed up. This was Sunday 2/22/15. I was told they could not tow me to dealership until the following day. If I would have left my car on road it would have been towed per state trooper.. Thank goodness for the kindness of the trooper in Glen Allen, VA. He took my son to merchant tire, dropped him off. His girlfriend had to stay with car and the trooper checked on her. I could not get to the car soon enough and the trooper came back and picked my son up and took him back to care. Thank you so much trooper for your care and concern for my young son and his girlfriend stuck on the side of the road. I have also been on hold for 45 minutes waiting to get thru to Hyundai roadside, no answer yet. So much for your care and concern and this will be reported to 12 news on your side... The customer service rep was very hateful when we got thru the first time, said could not tow to dealership after hours. Bla, bla, bla. Thanks Hyundai for your help. I will be trading my car for another make and model. Goodbye.

Nothing but problems from day one of this loan; first month wrong contract
Nothing but problems from day one of this loan; first month wrong contract information entered that I fought for 39 months. At month 36 of my 39-month lease, I learn they made an error and its a 48-month lease, We went around and around. Then turn in car at end of lease (48 months not 39-months mind you!) to have termination fees, return fees, mileage fees (I expected those), and had a $1400.00 bill. HMF tells me I can pay it incrementally via the same account. I pay $400. then $100 each month at the suggestion of the HMF call representative. I did this on principle because I was so mad about how I was treated so I decided to pay it slowly. Yesterday, I get a phone call from a collection agency saying I owe $1400.00. I explain I have the payment confirmations from my bank showing $900.00 in payments my husband has made--the agency says (quote) well hes lying. No payments have been made and you owe it. I call HMF today and the representative, Tanya, with a heavy Indian accent, tells me she sees the $900.00 and its in collection for $402.21. Again, I tell her that her Hyundai co-representative told me to pay it that way. She says, Ill make a note of that on your account but you have to make arrangements with the collection agency to pay it. I have never had collections on this or any car loan! OMG I was NEVER LATE NOT ONCE. It was auto-pay from my bank! I requested a statement with complete billing history and told Tanya I would pay Hyundai the full amount directly. I have been switched and mislead over and over. Buyer beware!

Grandson leased a 2013 Elantra while attending college. He was late with his Dec 2013 payment and called to let me know. I called Hyundai and told them I would make the payment. The representative advised me that the January 2014 would be coming due in a short time. I asked her if she could cancel the auto draw (that we had setup) and I would just go and make both payment (as the new semester was starting and there wold be books to buy) but I would only do this if she could guarantee that the account would not be double-billed. She assured me that she was taking care of that as we were speaking and that it would not happen. You can see where this is going. My grandson called me today and informed me that Hyundai had drawn another payment (for January 2014). When I called Hyundai they said that the girl I had talked to had obviously overstepped her bounds (???). I told them that if I knew they could not stop the payment draw, I would have just my the December payment and then transferred the January payment into his checking accounts. When I asked about getting the draw reversed, they said (ready for this) it would take a minimum of 15 DAYS. I told them never mind, just leave it for the February payment. I have already turned off their auto draw and will now subject them to snail mail once a month. When the lease runs out no more Hyundai.

I had a 2006 Azera that I drove for 147k Miles. It was a near perfect ownership experience. So I purchased a 2011 Genesis 3.8. Its been very disappointing to say the least. What made it disappointing is Hyundais degrading their warranty so that not a single malfunction has been covered by their warranty. I now had 51k miles on the Genesis. This is what had not been covered by their warranty. Navigation does not boot up ~30% of the time, moisture inside rear tail light, wind noise from passenger rear door from day 1, windshield wipers have no intermittent, phone bluetooth cuts out. Wheels peeling clear coat from day one. Dead front strut. So I would recommend avoiding Hyundai. I feel like a chump from driving one. Plus, the ride is rough and too much road noise for this class of car. Avoid!

I bought a brand new Tucson 2016. After I drove it for less than 800 miles the Check Engine light came on. I took it to the dealer and was told a pin fell inside the engine and broke it. Dealer offered to replace the engine. Because it was a new car I refused. So, after a lengthy fight Hyundai finally agreed to give me another new Tucson. Phew... wait, I am not done yet. 2 weeks later I took delivery of the new Tucson and guess what? 1200 miles later, the car just stalled and would not start as I was driving in the middle of the highway. Now that was scary, in the middle of the highway at night! Luckily there was a state trooper nearby who was able to redirect traffic around my car while I waited for a tow truck. I had the car towed back to the dealer. After looking into it for about 2 weeks, they finally called me to tell me there was another problem with the engine and it could not be repaired. Again, Hyundai has offered to send a replacement engine. This time I refused and am currently fighting them for my money back. Consumer beware of the 2016 Tucson, they are junky.

I have to say I WAS a huge Hyundai supporter. In fact, I referred a family member and a friend to buy one of your cars as well. I say WAS because my 2011 Sonatas engine blew and the dealership (Jim Ellis Hyundai - Atlanta, GA) cannot tell me why. They actually said it would cost $400+ if I wanted to know exactly what happened. They denied me warranty service and told me a new engine would cost $6,800 for a TWO (2) year old car. This is unbelievable to me from a company that stands on its warranties on their cars. I am sure Hyundai is aware that an unhappy customer will reach 10-20 times more potential new customers than a happy customer. I am at this time an UNHAPPY customer.

Ive been leasing this car for about 2 months and the brand new car shut off
Ive been leasing this car for about 2 months and the brand new car shut off on me randomly twice! First time it shut off I had to pick my toddler up from daycare that is 40 min away and they told me they will come in about an hour and half to tow my car. And they will not give me a loaner or anything to replace the vehicle while being looked at while my toddlers school closed and they are waiting for me to grab him. I kept trying to start the car in a panic and 2 hours later before the tow truck got to me the car started and I rushed to get him. The next day took the car to get looked at Paramus Hyundai service center and spent the whole day there with my baby for them to tell me my car is fine and told me I gotta go that they are closing. Meanwhile I tell them I do not feel safe driving with my baby in a car that shuts off with no warnings in middle of the road and I want a loaner and this car looked at more to find the problem. They said no and thats not their problem. Following week sure enough the car shuts off again at 8pm in middle of the road with my dogs and baby in the car and this time it never went back on. Cops stopped the traffic moved the car off road and when I called the sos they told me they cannot tow the car because the service center is closed and they cant get permission to park the car there... So we walked home from that area about a 15-20 min walk at around 10pm. I had to drag the baby back with me early morning to tow the car and sit at the service center all day with my poor son crying. And eventually that place brought me to tears, having me there all day not telling me anything until the very end of the day giving me a lot of problems about giving me a loaner car and only pulling some string and giving me a car seeing that Im stuck there with a fed up toddler. No one helping me, no one cared the first time it broke, now I do not feel safe in this car. I also want money back from the time I spent without a working car. I pay so much money for my time lost sitting on the phone and being transferred from person to person to tell me they cannot help me, calling corporate for them to transfer me from person to person for an hour me explains my issues over and over again to different people for them to tell me someone will call me that can help me in 3-5 business days!!! Are they crazy?! I dont want this car. I dont want to deal with anyone from Hyundai anymore!!! Im fed up, my family is fed up. I have never had so many problems with a car or with customer service as I do with this Hyundai Tucson limited! Im disgusted with the way I have been treated and I cannot believe Im still in this unsafe car that supposedly was fixed. A car that ** off like this after 2 months of driving it brand new is not a safe car and is not worth $466 a month! PS. There is a lot more to all this but I wanted to make it as short as possible. Bottom line me and my baby were put in unsafe position twice and no one does anything about it!

My husband is in the military. We contacted Hyundai about applying the SSRA (Soldiers & Sailors Relief Act). When they applied this they lost 5 of my payments. I spent weeks trying to get this corrected. I have been treated like a criminal, talked nasty to, and demanded I pay my past due balance. If you pulled their statements online, it showed every payment, the payment history though, disappeared. They required me to send them proof that I had made all these payments. I had to go to the bank, and stamped copies of the electronic transactions. Then, they almost didnt even accept the bank statements. Finally, after going through several people, they corrected the payments by the end of January. When they corrected my payments, we lost the SSRA. So, I called in again on 2/8/12, and spoke to a manager about the SSRA. They assured me, and promised me that this would be corrected by the weekend. Well, it is the weekend, and once again, my payments, since September, have disappeared yet once again. They are saying I owe over $2,000, and I am not even sure they got the SSRA applied correctly. David in California is the only person in the entire company they say that can apply the SSRA. Really? For a company this large? They see they are trying to reverse my payments once again. Heres a new problem, they are now showing 90 days late on our credit report, and mind you, my husband is an active military, and this could cost him his career. I have requested letters 3 times from Hyundai, that this is no fault of my own, and the matter has been corrected. It is always they dont do letters, but will forward to the correct department. I am at my wits end, and have never paid any payment late. I have worked for my credit very hard, and it is not fair that a company can just mess up your account, and you pay the price.

While driving on 5 Freeway in California my 2014 Hyundai Elantra started to violently shake like someone hitting the brake. I threw it in neutral and help my wife turn the steering wheel because we lost power steering. We got lucky and had a space to coast to the side of the road. When we got towed to Tuttle-Click in Irvine, CA and our car turned into the Service department. They basically said we are on our own to find a ride back home and no loaner car. Two days later I have to call them to find out the problem. First a technician said that it was a bad battery but that would not have caused it to completely shut down. Then a few hours later the Service Manager calls to say it was the battery and that is what caused it to shut down on us. I dont know who to believe but my wife doesnt want to ever drive or ride in it again. I have filed a complaint with Hyundai Corporate but dont know what they can do. I guess time will tell.

I would give this company 0 stars if possible. My 2016 Sante Fe motor messed up while on a trip out of town. It was covered under warranty. Left car in Arkansas to have it repaired. Was told by consumer affairs the dealership would provide a rental or I could rent and be reimbursed up to $25 a day. We got the only rental available in this small town which was $100/day. I was not contacted by this company for over 3 weeks, stating they have not yet assigned a case manager. When I finally got one, he was no help either. Told them I can’t afford to keep renting. He pretty much had me do all the work!Contact dealerships asking for loaner, which they say they don’t have. They really need to change their policies. Asked them to tow it to my local dealership thinking they could repair it more quickly. Of course, they left that up to dealership too, which refused. So now 10 wks later, car still not fixed and over $5k in rental costs. They need to take responsibility for these dealerships that represent the Hyundai brand! The only explanation they give is we have no control over the dealerships. I actually love my car, but this company in general needs to improve on service. I won’t ever purchase another Hyundai based on this experience.

Hello my name is Johnny **, I have a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. On October 15th my vehicle turned off while driving, I had the vehicle towed to Sport Hyundai in Egg Harbor Township, service guys there are great, anyway the vehicles engine I was told needed to be replaced, I was sent to Enterprise car rental office in Pleasantville NJ then I found out that Hyundai is only paying $25 towards my rental and I had to pay $18 difference a day, I just feel that if the vehicles engine was defective or recalled I should not be paying for anything, so I sent an email to Hyundai explaining my situation. They said that unfortunately there is nothing that they can do. I was thinking of trading my car in before all this happened and get a new Hyundai but after this experience I wouldn’t do it and will encourage anyone I know not to invest in Hyundai at all.

VIN # **. We recently returned a leased 2016 Tucson, the lease was for 3 years. A letter from Hyundai, dated 13 June 2019, stated that we owed over $1100 on this Tucson. The main cause of this costs is apparently a very small, about a 1 inch “star” chip in the left headlight area. To most people the car looked almost new. If this charge stands you have a VERY dissatisfied customer. Before this outlandish charge you had a very satisfied customer.

My vehicle is a 2009 Atos. It is still under warranty. I waited approximately five months for a reverse light switch to be replaced; the brakes have been skimmed twice in this time due to a brake shudder. When asked if this was normal, I was told that replacing the brakes would be very expensive and that they would find out. I dealt with Lisa and Tamryn as well as other workshop staff including the w/shop manager, and they indicated that they would find out if the brake situation was normal. They still have not come back to me in this regard -- it was two weeks ago. My vehicle went in for rust removal. Since I got it back, there has been wind whistle through the windows. When I received the customer service call after the service inquiring if I was satisfied with everything, I indicated that I was not and explained in terms of the wind whistle. I still have not had any response from anyone at this dealership.

Let me start at the beginning. I bought the 2018 Hyundai Sonata from Hyundai of Milford. I cam back for my first oil change and all went well. When the second oil change came around, they explained that in order to comply with warranty conditions, I needed to rotate the tires (a charge of about 85.00 with the oil change). No problem, I said. When I get the car back, I notice the tires were never rotated and I was charged. My understanding as they explained it to me is that if the services were not completed, it would void the warranty. They claim I was given a couple of free oil changes. Although they also said the tires would be rotated too, so I am really not so sure what I got. During one of the alleged free oil changes, I was told there was a software update. Again, I said, No problem, and they claim to have completed it.Anyway, so in August, I was 50+ miles from home, stopped at a car wash, grabbed a bite to eat and to my surprise, when I came out of the restaurant to start the car, the check engine light comes on. I had no acceleration whatsoever. Using their roadside assistance, I was towed from Windsor, CT to Branford Hyundai. It was Sunday, so the service department was closed. Service called me the following day to inform me that the main wiring harness was supposed to have been replaced when the software update was done. This tow cost me $130.00 since the roadside assistance only towed up to 20 miles. They kept the car for 2-3 days and finally called me and stated that the car was ready and all set. So, I picked up the car and a month a half later, guess what happens? Once again, I am in Windsor driving down the highway in the pouring rain and out of nowhere, the check engine light comes on again and the acceleration just stops. I have a car behind me that almost plows into me as a result. I coast off the next exit to a service station and again call for a tow truck. I used roadside assistance from another service that I have because it was a little cheaper and the second tow cost me $92.00.I towed it again to Branford Hyundai, it was Sunday again, so they were not open. I had to Uber to work the next day and waited all day for the service department to call me. They finally did at the very end of the day, after I called them a couple of times. I called them before I had to leave work, and they said they had not looked at it yet. When I got home, they called and said my car was all set. I got there, and the serviceman states, the problem was the knock sensor, and it should have been replaced when the wiring harness was replaced, he then stated, and I quote that this has been happening a lot and it was driving them crazy. We have been dealing with a lot of them and I should have replaced the knock sensor the last time you were here, sometimes we dont need to replace them though.I was told to send in both towing bills and receipts to corporate and I would be reimbursed for both towing bills. Well, when I did, I got an email suggesting that I sign a statement releasing them from liability for any further repairs related to the recall, and this would be the only way I would get reimbursed for the second tow only. I find their business practice unprofessional and they do not stand behind the products they sell. I refused to sign any documents, they said they would not reimburse anything if this was not signed. Very poor business practice. As a result of their carelessness, I am out $222.00 and am working harder than ever to get out of the car I am in, the 2018 Hyundai Sonata is NOT safe to drive. I am making sure that I let everyone I know (and that is a lot of people) not to buy from Hyundai or Kia (since they are the same manufacturer), and if they already did, to investigate whether the services they are completing are actually being done. I no longer have any ounce of trust in either of them and question their integrity. They need to be investigated by some authorities regarding their business practices since there are so many of their cars on the road. Based on the comments of the serviceman at Branford Hyundai, there seems to be a lot of them. If you happen to be behind one on the road BE CAUTious! The car may just lose power and cause a serious accident.

I purchased a new 2005 Hyundai Elantra GLS in 2005. I also purchased the Hyundai factory extended warranty which covers most of the parts and systems for 10 Years or 100,000 miles, which ever comes first. In the past, I have been very impressed with the customer service and support of Hyundai owners by Hyundai Motor America. However, their new CEO is apparently abandoning the policy of supporting their customers and their good will. Just after the car passed the 100,000 mile mark, the cars thermostat worth around $13 stuck and the radiator was fried. There were no warning lights to alert me to stop driving the car as it was overheating. My Hyundai dealer wanted almost $1,000 to replace the thermostat and radiator. I almost fainted. I called other Hyundai dealers and they told me they heard of this occurring on other Hyundais the same year and model as mine. I called Hyundais customer connection line. After reviewing the case, they refuse to offer any relief. I also noticed that in the customer satisfaction surveys, Hyundai formerly sent their customers after service was done on their car to ensure dealers were doing a good job have ceased. No wonder Hyundai has dropped off the list of Americas 10 Best Selling Cars in 2011 and only has about a 5% share of the US auto market. Taking their valued customers for granted will most likely cost Hyundai dearly in customer loyalty and repeat business.

I purchased a 2010 Hyundai Elantra in August of 2010 with 11 miles on it. I now have 53,000 miles on the car. In January this year, when I had about 45,000 miles on the car, I noticed my clutch is dropping to the floor and I cant put the car into gear. It does not happen every single time I change gears, but it is happening several times a day now. In Feb 2011, they changed the hydraulic fluid, which did nothing and cost me $190.00. The car has been in for service about 4 times now, I believe. 2 days ago, it was towed to Hyundai because I was backing out of a parking spot and my car stalled and would not start back up. But the next morning, it started right up for Hyundai. All they did was test drive my car and it did not happen to them. It happened to my dad 2 times within six miles last night and 3 times on me today. The clutch drops to the floor and I cant put it in gear. I have to double clutch and it usually goes into gear the second time. My daughter is 4 years old and Im afraid to put her in my car because of this problem. I noticed it happens more so on turns up or down hill. I have come close to several different cars rear-ending me because I never know when my car is going to let me change gears or not. I cant afford to get a new car, I already tried. Im extremely upset and angry with Hyundai because every time they get my car, nothing is done and I get it back the same exact way. All they say is it has not happened for us so they cant try to fix it until they feel the problem. They have never heard of such a thing happening either. This car is not safe for me to drive and Hyundai is OK with that.

On 8/8/2017 my Hyundai Elantra vehicle started clunking as a way getting on to the highway. After pulling over, I saw a huge puddle of oil that was leaking out of my vehicle. After having it towed and inspected I was told that something let loose in the engine and blew a hole right through. This was after only going through a puddle but then having all parts affect cleaned out. A week later this is what happens. I have never owned a vehicle where the engine had to be replaced so quickly. It is only a 2015 with 109,000 miles approximately. I had a previous 2010 Hyundai that surpassed that mileage. I believe that something is defective in the way they have made these engines in newer year models. Everyone should be aware of this before purchasing because I am now spending thousands of dollars after only 2 years of owning the vehicle on top of being stuck with a significant amount due on my car loan.

07 Santa Fe problems after 60,000 miles. Oh, where to start? Well, even before the 60,000 mile mark, we were wearing out a second set of tires (3rd set came around 66K). After 60K, both front ball joints needed replacing along with steering arm (front left). Then a host of electrical problems. March 2012 had alternator and battery replaced. Check engine light has been on continuously for over a year. Dealership scanned, no codes. Ignored light ever since. Now, alternator failed again. Returned to shop where previous alternator was installed, thinking that was the problem. Nope. Oil leaked from valve cover gasket onto alternator, shorting it out. Well, I already had it towed from point where it died to this shop, not going to have it towed again for $85 or so to nearest Hyundai dealer, who may or may not conclude that the gasket replacement is a warranty item (79,000 miles and I am original owner). Hyundai customer service is not helping. Usual corporate gibberish e-mails and saying that warranty claims must be handled through a dealer, which I agree with. My contention is that the 3.3 liter V6 engine has a ton of consumer complaints regarding this gasket leakage issue and that Hyundai shouldve issued a recall notice. But its a costly repair as far as labor, so chumps like me are stuck with the bill unless a dealer wants to submit a claim. I worked for a Hyundai tier 1 supplier in Alabama in 2005 and it was true then, keeping costs down was priority one. I am convinced Hyundai uses parts thatll last just long enough to make 60K miles, then consumers are on their own. Cant believe I traded an Accord (high mileage with no issues whatsoever) for a Sonata (our other car). Gonna get rid of the Sonata before 60K for sure. My advice, if buying a Hyundai, get an extended warranty too (I did not), but go over the fine print and see what it covers.

I liked that it is safe and its not too big and not too small. It gets decent gas mileage. I liked how it looked. The trunk is quite big. It has a very good warranty. First of all. My first mistake was buying a used 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The car was OK but then after some time the car started stalling and I had my 4 year old daughter with me. Just when I was getting off the freeway it stalled on me twice. The car would make a clicking noise. Took it to the dealership and they said it had to do something with the steering wheel after I paid for a diagnostic check. Anyways it was too much and they said it didnt affect the car. I only ended up purchasing a new battery. Then my car totally gives up on me and stalls. Doesnt want to turn on anymore. Had to get it towed to Hyundai in Cerritos on the last week of February. It needs a new engine and hyundai is taking care of it and a few other cars with the same issue. And its been quite some time now and still have not received the engine and no update on whats going on with my car. But they did call me 3/25/17 to offer me a SPECIAL offer for this recall campaign due to the inconvenience. And at the dealership they hit me with yes you can get a new car BUT you need to put $3000 down. I understand I would be receiving a good deal (employee discount) but this is not helpful at all. Im struggling not having a car and not getting a loaner. and I reviewed all the complaints... its unbelievable. I should have done research before going with Hyundai. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

We have had the 2014 Elantra a year which we bought directly from Woodland Hills Hyundai dealer. It wasnt cheap, as with the extended warranty of 100,000 miles it came to $24,000. We were never told the car did not come with a spare tire. We spent the evening of fathers day being towed back to the dealer and missing our plans because we got a flat tire. The response I was given as its like this in all the cars now. I know that isnt true, because we also bought a Toyota and Nissan which have spare tires. For a company that prides itself on safety, not having a spare or informing the purchase that there is no spare, is not ok!!! The car drives fine, but this to me reflects very poor customer service.

Approx. 6 weeks ago, the brakes in my 2009 Sonata failed. I brought the car to my mechanic and he replaced the rear brakes. Two weeks later, the same thing happened. I had the front brakes replaced. Again, 2 weeks later, I slid through a red light because the brakes failed yet again. I had the car towed to the nearest Hyundai dealer. They informed me that they found nothing wrong with the brakes until I told them that I would not drive that car. So, they had better look again. Miraculously, 10 minutes later, they found that the caliper was broken and blamed it on the mechanic that replaced my brakes. So now, it was not under warranty. I paid the bill of $413.54 to replace the part. Not quite 2 weeks later, the car was making a very loud screeching sound -- like metal on metal. I had the car towed to the Nemet dealership where I originally purchased the vehicle. The mechanic, Jeff, told me that I needed new back brakes. When I tried to explain the entire situation, he did not want to hear it, and he told me that what happened at the other dealership did not matter, kind of like McDonalds is a chain of stores owned by different people, so is the Hyundai dealerships. He also informed me that I would be charged $625.00 to replace the back brakes again and if I did not want to pay, I should take the car back to the mechanic that did the brakes originally.I paid for a tow truck to take the car to Nemet, and again, to pick it up from Nemet to be brought to my mechanic. He replaced the left caliper that had already been replaced by Advantage Hyundai! That’s another $221.02 spent! I was livid, so I called Nemet and explained to the salesman what was going on again. He told me to bring the car into his dealership and when I got it back, they would work something out with me. On Saturday, 9/3 I, took the car to the Nemet dealership . Anthony, the salesman and the sales manager tried to put me in a smaller vehicle -- the Hyundai Elantra. I requested another down payment, and they wanted me to sign another 5 year payment plan! They informed me that my warranty had been voided when I took my car to a certified mechanic to have the brakes done and not to a Hyundai dealership. I was not looking to use my car a trade. I wanted to be treated fairly. Two years ago, I paid a down payment on a car that I thought would last me a good long time. Now, I find that this product is not backed by the company that sells it. This is the 3rd Hyundai I have purchased through Nemet.I do want a new vehicle that is comparable to the one I bought, not smaller. I already paid 2 years of a loan. Why should I have to start over when I have only 3 years left on a vehicle that is defective? I dont feel I should have to pay another down payment, or a higher monthly payment and I should not have to pay for more than 3 years!I called the dealership (Nemet) when I returned home and asked for the name of the CEO and was told that the CEO died. And then I requested to speak with the General Manager. She asked what was it in reference to and told me to hold on. She came back on the phone and asked for my name. When I told her who it was, all of a sudden Scott ** was unavailable to speak with me, when I know he was there for a meeting with his sales staff that morning because I had to wait for the sales person! The advertisement reads “our customers are number 1”. Really, when does that apply?

Both of the passenger windows in my 2007 Sonata will not stay up. These windows have probably only been rolled up & down 10 times since the car was purchased, because I dont normally have back seat passengers. I cant afford to have them fixed. I am retired. The left one went out first about a year ago, and then the right one about six months later. I have tried everything from wedging something into the opening to keep the windows up, to taping them. Nothing works. This is a dangerous problem when you are driving down the highway & suddenly your back windows fall down, it could cause a wreck when you hear it suddenly & look back.In my opinion, Hyundai is a good car as far as the motor goes, but they really cheaped out on the interior. Another problem I have had for about 3 years, is the visors on the driver and passenger side wont stay up. I tried velcro, but it didnt work, so now I have tied them up to the handles above the windows to keep them up.Needless to say, this looks ridiculous. The visors would block my view. I have never had a car that had these problems. Because of the cheap interiors, I will never buy another Hyundai. I do believe these problems should cause a recall, especially on the windows.

On Memorial Day, I purchased a Hyundai Tucson Sport AWD 1.6L Turbo. This is my first time purchasing a Hyundai and I really made the purchase because of the warranty. Now I am having buyers remorse. The vehicle I purchased drives great on the highway, but is not easy to drive in city traffic. I experience a lot of hesitation and jerkiness when pressing on the gas pedal to accelerate from a complete stop. I have complained about this to the dealer and was told I need to get used to the gas pedal because that is the nature of the turbo engine. I have also experienced a lot of static on FM radio stations. The owners manual mentions that static does not mean there is anything wrong with the radio, it is just a poor signal coming to the car due to distance from the tower or perhaps trees or buildings blocking the signal. I have even experienced outages when I tune into XM stations using Sirius. I will get silence for up to three minutes. The dealer told me to bring it in at my convenience and they will check out the radio, but I have a feeling if it does not act up while they have it, they will just re-iterate what the owners manual says. I have never had these issues with any of my previous vehicles, so I think these are design issues with this model. I am not a happy Hyundai owner to say the least.

We just purchased a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy trim in Sep 21 because we loved that it had everything we were looking for in regards to safety, technology, and design. We paid $45k for it along with about $1,000 in fees and travel to pick it up. We were quite excited as this was our first brand new vehicle. 2 months into it, the transmission went bad and we brought it to Hyundai to find out whats going on as it was under warranty. Heres where things went further south.Hyundai cant get parts to fix their brand new cars...and on top of that, why would a transmission already be bad? It has sat on their lot since Nov 30th, 2021. Last week we just got an offer to buy back the vehicle for more than 4k less than what we just bought it for and drove it for two months. They stated that our state allows for depreciation in Missouri for lemon laws and they cant help us, it is what it is. During this time, cars have gone up because dealers are now charging a mark up fee, so although they can claim depreciation, we cant claim appreciation on the car. So to get the same exact car we just bought, we now will have to pay 4-8k more for equivalent. Its horrible. And just for a buyer beware situation, Hyundai will no longer replace your car with an equivalent one substitution for collateral equity. They stopped replacing them with like cars because theyre manufacturing so few that anything they make has to go to dealers to get top value for them.Point being for this review is that although Hyundai makes a great car much of the time, if you have any problems at all, there are concerns of finding parts for repairs, and if its unrepairable, plan on a huge deduction for a buyback. Good luck out there from a very unhappy customer who just lost 4-8k on a brand new vehicle, and now I have to go find a replacement on my own.

We have a 2009 Hyundai Sonata with the 2.4L 4 cyl engine. Engine made a knocking noise then locked up about 3 hours from home. Over time we had some minor issues with the car but were very happy with it overall. These included an oil leak covered under warranty, broken starter part, not covered, transmission not shifting properly, reprogram of transmission computer covered under warranty, and a broken door handle, not covered. The plastic starter part and door handle are known issues. When the engine locked up we were towed by AAA (wonderful folks!) 3 hours back home. I called the service department and was informed that there was a $101 fee to diagnose the problem. I dont work for free so I dont expect their mechanics to either. I indicated that the car was out of warranty by 2002 miles but asked that if they could do anything for me I would appreciate it. Service writer was polite but didnt give me a warm fuzzy feeling. A sales associate did offer to give us an appraisal of our dead car toward another Hyundai. Fat chance of that happening. When it was all said and done there was no offer of help from Hyundai other than to install a high mileage salvage engine for about 4 thousand dollars. I have taken the repair to a shop who I have done business with for years. I will never purchase a Hyundai of any kind again nor will I suggest the purchase of one.

I went to buy a Hyundai Elantra and after haggling over the price I was guided to a used Hyundai Elantra. I was interested in MPG and this used car had some remaining warranty and looked pretty good but they still couldnt get it to a price I could afford. So they asked if I did have a trade. I told the salesman I had a 2004 Civic which is not running, motor frozen. They said thats okay and added it as a trade to bring the financed price down to what I could afford. We sealed the deal after a full day of bull**. Three days later, the dealer called me and said its not a deal. They would not mail the agreement to the main office. I am so angry with Hyundai after being a previous owner of a 2010 Sonada. I will not go back. I was going to contest this reversal of signed agreement but I would have had to get a lawyer and I couldnt afford it. I now tell anybody that will listen to not buy at City Hyundai of Tallahassee, FL.

I like that it has Bluetooth. I really dont like the look of it. I think that it looks like every other car on the road and theres nothing unique about it. I wish it has heated seats. I purchased a Hyundai Genesis Coupe from Parkway Hyundai (Wilmington) in 2014. I was informed by the salesmen that offered me the extended warranty that I would receive coverage for 100,000 miles. Not up to 100,00 miles, but good for 100,000 miles. Huge difference, as the car had nearly 50k miles on it already when it was purchased. I made it very clear to the salesman that I needed coverage for 100k miles. I would have purchased a brand new car, not a used Hyundai with only 50k mile warranty if this had been explained to me correctly, and now the dealership is leaving me out to dry with a car that is not drivable, a higher car payment than what I would have had with a brand new car, (because the warranty is factored into it), and they are feeding me a load of BS.I do not recommend ANYONE, even my worst enemy to purchase from Parkway Hyundai, and also the salesman by the name of Mitchell was very distant to me after I purchased the car. I would drive all the way to Wilmington from out of town and stop by to get an oil change and he would give me blank stares and would not even greet me. What kind of customer service is that? To be nice to me long enough to sell me a car and then treat me like chopped liver after the deal is done. I let that slide because he is a younger guy, I am probably the first he ever sold a car to and he is probably long gone now if he treated someone else the same way, but yeah, I am done with Parkway Hyundai for good either way. They can forget me or anyone I know ever purchasing a vehicle from them ever again.

Ive procured an IX35 approx. a month ago from the Hyundai branch in Umhlanga, Durban, before I took delivery, there was a number of issues with the vehicle. The salesman promised that all issues relating to damaged drivers seat, back tail light, no door clips, etc. will be attended to. We agreed in writing that they will be resolved within 3 days. This never materialized. My numerous attempts to the dealership was ignored. I am also awaiting the registration of the vehicle which is also currently not done. I am at my wits trying to explain myself to the Sales manager and the salesman. The recent recommendation from the Sales Manager in writing that I must return the vehicle. I am comfortable with this and I kept asking for the last week now, when the deposit of 90 thousand rands will be refunded and the vehicle returned. I now hear today from the Sales manager that he will attempt to resolve the issues. I am now extremely frustrated and require that this matter receives urgent attention.

2008 Hyundai Sonata - I was driving to the coast and went to pass a vehicle and the gas pedal stuck, the brakes wouldnt work and lucky there were no cars and a empty field and I was driving in circles. Finally turned engine off and waited. Got out, checked car out, decided to start it back up, drive it a little ways. All was fine. It pissed me off. Hyundai took it in, looked at it, said they couldnt find a problem. That was a big problem but they say no issues. BS.

I bought my Hyundai Sonata in May 2011 and was happy, until on 15,000 mile service. My tires were rotated and I started to hear a noise. I went to the Hyundai service and told them about the noise. They called me about an hour after I left my car saying that the noise coming from the tires and the reason is lack of rotation. When I asked why lack of rotation will cause this problem, service manager told me that the way suspension set in my Sonata caused chopping of the rear wheels if they are not rotated each 5,000-7,500 miles. So Dear Hyundai! I did drive many other car brands and never was too strict about rotating the tires in time. It never made this type of terrible damage to the tires. I started to check online and realized that Im not alone! Digging a bit more, I understand now that one of the vectors for the rear wheels suspension alignment is static. This is the source of the issue!I contacted Hyundai customer affairs and asked to make exception and replace my 2 noisy tires now so I can drive my new car without this terrible noise. I said that I will not continue to complain about the strict rotation requirement and will do it as they advised in the service from now on. However, I also said that such exception tires handling should be communicated when they do the service or even when they sell the car. When I did my first, 7,500 miles service at Hyundai dealership, they did not offer me the rotation nor advised that I should do it and why it is important.Hyundai customer service answer was that I should not wait for service or Hyundai to tell me that I need to do a rotation but ask the service to make the rotation. Thank you for this advice! Im now on the list of unhappy Hyundai customers and probably will never go for another Hyundai nor let any of my friends to make the same mistake!

I lost my car via accident since June 3rd 2015. My insurance company has been conversing with Hyundai since June 9, 2015 to obtain a letter of guarantee. Up to today we had a three-way conference call with Hyundai, my insurance and myself to get on the same page. Translation between the insurance and the customer service has been the most horrible experience ever. It should not take a month and more to fix this issue of a letter. Every time you call either the information was never sent or attached to be sent to the total loss department. For this to be a top selling company now, there need to be a better way to have individuals speak directly with the total loss department to correct discrepancies and miscommunications. I am really annoyed as I need this settled.

My wife and I purchased an Elantra back in 2013, Due to credit issues we have high interest rate and high car payment and a term for 7 years. At the time, we were desperate and needed a car. Its been over 6 years and we have less than 18 months. We owe less than 8000 on the car. Hyundai is doing everything they can to repo the car. If its note is not paid on the day. They call and call, threatening us with repossession. They Repo the car once when it was only 20 days late, after a commitment to pay was made. The last time I called to make a commitment to pay, they were heartless and telling me to borrow the money from someone. The were not this aggressive until we paid down the vehicle.

Engine fails to start: I leased my 2014 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid on Sept. 2014 and it has been in the shop 12 times in last year and half. When trying to start, all console warnings beep, the interior and exterior lights flash off and on and the brake pedal goes up and down on its own. You cannot stop it and it continues until it drains the battery. I have complied with everything the service department have told me to do from jumping it and bringing it to them, having tow truck bring it in, turning off lights, radio, and a/c before turning it off but the problem continues and the service techs can find no problem. They provided a loaner twice but am now being told as it sits in shop this time that Hyundai will not pay any more for a loaner.I opened a case in Dec and was told if problem continued to call. I called again when problem occurred but was told I needed to open a new case. So here I go again. The manager offered the dealer I purchased it from will not return my call and the first case manager will not return my call and the service tech does not know what to do with it. Im at wits end. I just want out of my lease with no fees or early termination charges and walk away from this nightmare. I have owned 3 other Hyundais and always praised Hyundais but no longer. I will not be purchasing another Hyundai and I would dissuade anyone I know from buying from this company. I am learning they do not stand behind their products.

I purchased my 2005 Hyundai Tuscon new from the Kolar Hyundai dealership based primarily on the advertised warranty coverage of 10 years and 100,000 miles bumper-to-bumper as they advertised it (it’s still under a warranty plus program which I did have to pay for). Since then my Tuscon is in need of a bearing replacement on the left rear tire (it has seized). When I called the dealership, I was told they would not tow the vehicle or repair it without me covering all the costs. My warranty is currently at no cost to me for repairs or towing. I was told to call the Hyundai warranty number. The lady I spoke to informed me that if it was an American-made vehicle, it would be covered since bumper-to-bumper means that. But since it is a Hyundai and the rear wheels are not drive wheels, it is not covered after 60,000 miles. I asked her again why Hyundai is not honoring their advertised bumper-to-bumper warranty. Again, I was told it is because Hyundai is not an American-made vehicle (assuming she meant a vehicle made by Ford or other American vehicle corporations). I am now forced to incur all costs for repairs since Hyundais trickery (erroneous advertising) has forced me to, especially in a tough economy.

I took the car to the dealer the same day and was told the warranty did not cover this part. I was told it had to be replaced as it kept dirt and road dust off the engine. The dealer made it sound like this was a major part and HAD to be replaced. The cost was $162.10. 5/2/15, the same thing occurred and I did not hit anything. I feel should be covered under the warranty. In addition I do not think this is a critical part that has to be replaced to protect the engine. The part is 86811-3Q500 Guard Assy - Fr Wheel LH.

I just purchased a 2012 Accent. I drive 40 miles to work on the interstate every day. Once I reach 70 mph, my car starts to swerve to the point I almost run into the other lanes. When I try to correct the car, it gets worse. One time, I almost ran a car off the road. Terrified to drive, I took the car into the dealership and was told its my electric power steering. I was told theres nothing they could do to help me. They told me I need to get use to the sensitive steering. Seriously! I was told by the dealership the sensitive steering does not change even at high speeds. If I turn my steering wheel a little bit, my car will go in that direction very fast. This is very dangerous. While returning from destination 50 miles from home, we stopped to take a break. My wife noticed that the rear bumper had detached from the right side of the car. I was unable to snap it back in and forced to drive back with it detached. Because of the wind caused from driving, the bumper (made of rubber) tore even more.I brought the 2017 Hyundai Elantra Limited into the Hyundai dealer in La Quinta. They examined it and took photos, Their position was that it was caused by an outside force and refused to cover it under warranty, I escalated to the Hyundai Southern Regional office. After several days, they contacted me and agreed with the dealer. This is BS because the only damage they saw on the bumper was some missing paint on the underside. I checked it out and there was no paint missing, the surface was smooth, not rough as it would be if it was scraped. The paint was missing because it was not completely painted underneath. I extremely disappointed and would never buy a Hyundai again, I think they are cheaply made. The exterior dents with even a minor bump from a parked car door.

Three years ago, I purchased a new Hyundai Genesis. Unfortunately, the car veered to the right which make driving difficult and dangerous. When I first brought the car in, the dealer denied a problem. When I returned shortly thereafter, they reluctantly agreed that the car lurched to the right. After a series of trips back and forth to the dealer, the tires were replaced, the alignment was redone, the electronics were revised and the problem persisted. After my 6th or 7th visit, I gave them the car and told them that I would not take it back till the problem was solved. They kept the car for months and were never able to sort it out. Meanwhile, I communicated with corporate Hyundai and they were rude. I finally invoked the lemon law and my money was returned (not the interest that I had been paying Hyundai as they held the loan on the car). I own a 2004 Hyundai Elantra. My engine/Powertrain warranty is 10 years/100,000 miles. As you can see, my car engine is covered until 2014. Also, my car has only 39,000 miles on it. I service it every 3000 miles and take really good care of the vehicle both inside and out. On Sunday, October 16th 2011, we were driving home from Wildwood, NJ when the nightmare began. According to Hyundai, the engine thermostat broke which in turn overheated the radiator; which in turn overheated the engine, causing engine damage. This whole process took only moments and before we could react, the car died and shut-off in the middle of Route 55! Since the car would not start, we had the car towed to Turnersville Hyundai which was the closest to us. We were prepared for some repairs but nothing related to our engine. We assumed that if any engine damage did exist, it would be covered under the 10-year warranty under which we have 100% engine protection not according to Hyundai. So the next day, Hyundai told us that they would not repair the engine even though it is under warranty. The reason they could not repair it is labeled consumer neglect. They said that we ran the car with the engine hot so it was our fault that it died. We had no idea all this was going to occur because our car never had a problem. If we were aware that the car was overheating we certainly would stop and turn the car off. We are currently trying to resolve this issue but Hyundai will not honor their warranty. For us to repair the car on our own will be at least $1000.00 to start and we cannot afford that. What is it to Hyundai (a multi-trillion dollar company) to put either new parts or a new engine in our car. Oh, by the way, this is the forth Hyundai I bought over the years. I dont think I will be buying another one anytime soon. Please help! They wont help me now, Im stuck with a car

I leased my 2015 Sonata Sport in Feb of 2016. It had been a service loaner and had almost 5000 miles on it at delivery. After about six months in Aug of 2016 my car would not start and I had to call Hyundai Roadside to jump it. I brought it into the dealer the following week. They tested the battery, said nothing was wrong, and suggested I did something to cause the battery drain. Well, I continued to have the problem and brought the car back to the dealer in Nov of 2016. This time they said the battery was bad and replaced it. Even after replacing the battery, I continued to have the problem and brought the car back to the dealer in Jan of 2017. This time they blamed the problem on the Allstate insurance device I have plugged into the car and they said the battery was bad too. So they replaced the battery for the second time and I had the Allstate device replaced.I continued to have the same problems. I brought the car back to the dealer the following month and they said they could not replicate the issue and found nothing. It seems that my vehicle battery dies when I dont use the vehicle for a period of time – often 1.5 - 2 days, but it has died from sitting unused in as little as 22 hours. Since I continue to have this issue without any real help from the dealer, I contacted Hyundai consumer affairs in April of 2017 and they have been slow to take any action. I did not receive any actionable info from them until 2 weeks after I first called... They called the dealer I had been working with and the dealer told them they thought the issue was the insurance device (even though they found no problems the last time I had the vehicle there, with the device plugged in).So my Hyundai case manager told me they could not do anything until the insurance device was ruled out as a cause. I removed the device and purposefully did not drive the vehicle for a full day and surprise, the car was dead. So I called my case manager at Hyundai and told her what happened and that the device could be ruled out. Now she is checking to see if or when (her words) a Hyundai specialist can look at the car. Hopefully, it wont take another two weeks to find that out. It seems Im not the only person with this issue as a couple other reviews very recently indicate the same problem on the same year/make/model and with even the same time frame the problem began! I guess its time for me to find a lawyer too.

Ive leased many cars over the years, but never have I had a more negative experience than I had with Hyundai Finance. There was, apparently an end-of-lease termination charge (unrelated to the condition of the vehicle, purely an administrative/profit charge) that was identified in the very small print at the end of my lease agreement. When I turned in the vehicle along with the inspection report that showed no damage and no charges, I inquired whether there was anything owed and was told no, youre good to go.I never received an invoice of any kind from Hyundai indicating that there was a balance due following the termination of my lease agreement (5/31/2018). I was unaware that there was a balance due until my bank notified me that there had been an adverse credit report on Experian. While Hyundai called my home and left several voicemails, they failed to indicate the reason or purpose of their calls and I assumed, since my lease was over and the car had been returned, that they were sales/promotional related calls, similar to the hundreds of other such calls I receive that go unanswered. Hyundai had the capability to take direct draws on my account during the lease period. I received an email communication from Hyundai on May 1, 2018 stating that my financial obligation was complete and that the payment schedule was being deleted at Hyundai’s request.Following return of the lease vehicle, Hyundai shut down access to my online account with them; consequently I could not log-in to see details about any balance due. Although I had previously updated my address of record on the Hyundai Finance website, Hyundai apparently contacted my prior employer and sent notifications to my prior employers address, rather than contact me at my home address. As I was no longer an employee there, my former employer did not act on these communications other than to inform Hyundai Finance that I was no longer an employee. After seeing the adverse entry on my credit report, I contacted Hyundai to inquire what was going on. That is when they suddenly informed me that there was a past due amount. I informed them that I had never received an invoice and was unable to look at my account online because they had closed it and requested that they fax the invoice to me. As soon as I received the invoice, it was paid in-full within 48 hours. The people who I spoke with at Hyundai were rude and unprofessional and completely devoid of any sense of customer service orientation. They didnt care at all that I had never received the invoice. Despite explaining in detail what had happened, they refused to do anything to correct the adverse credit rating report that was fully their own administrative failure! My advice to anyone purchasing or leasing a Hyundai vehicle -- work with your own bank and stay completely away from Hyundai Finance. You will regret ever having established a business relationship with them.

My car gets no more than 24 mph on the freeway going 65 steady in the right lane with Chevron gas. I have taken it to 5 different Hyundai dealers complaining about the issue almost right away. Finally after I showed them the website where I found out about the class action lawsuit did they admit... oh ya your car does have a mileage problem. Oh ya... we already lost the lawsuit. We will waste a ton of your time, and then say sorry you are not original owner and therefore not eligible for gas reimbursement! They even openly accepted that they put a higher MSRP purposefully and they do have the right from Hyundai to do so.I complained in Hyundai consumer affairs but they closed the case just listening to the dealer saying that they gave me a huge package of accessories which made the price difference. The accessories the dealer gave me did not cost beyond $1,000, but the lady who represented Hyundai was not willing to listen to me. She was in a hurry to close the case. I am trying to get justice in some or other way.

I purchased a new 2011 Hyundai Sonata from Cocoa Hyundai in Cocoa Beach, FL
I purchased a new 2011 Hyundai Sonata from Cocoa Hyundai in Cocoa Beach, FL. At the time, I was driving a 2008 Suzuki SX-4. I was looking to trade it in due to the warranty expiring and it having high miles. Originally, I had come in asking for the Elantra, as it was in the same size category. I got there and test drove the Elantra and thought it was ok, very fuel efficient. I then test drove the Sonata and immediately fell in love with it. The interior is very roomy. It also feels better when you drive it. I then worked up a deal with the dealership. At the time, I had very good credit. Looking back at the total cost of the vehicle, I dont believe I got such a great deal after all. The only reason I purchased there was because I had a friend of mine working at the dealer. He assured me he would take care of me and give me a great deal. Finally, after 2 1/2 hours of negotiating with the salesman, we came to an agreement on the price and monthly payment. It was more than I was wanting to spend; my monthly payment jumped up about an extra $125 a month. I told my wife we would make it work out somehow as we both really liked the vehicle. I would just cut back on things. We drove the vehicle home and were happy. 2 months after purchasing the vehicle, we received a notice in the mail saying there was recalls on it. We called the Closest dealer to our home which was Universal Hyundai in Orlando, FL and scheduled an appointment. We arrived to this dealer just to see a bunch of people standing around doing nothing. It took nearly 15 minutes for someone to finally acknowledge us. They told us they had no records of us even being in their service log. I guess someone had dropped the ball. They said theyll squeeze us in anyways. They told us the car would not be ready for several days as they did not have the parts available. I told them that was fine, but I didnt have transportation to work, as this is my main form of transportation. They said, Well, we have rental cars which are $40 a day. I told them I should not have to pay for something that is not my fault and the warranty should cover it. Finally, after arguing with the Service Manager for nearly a half hour, he said they would comp the rental fee. I picked up my car several days later and they handed me a bill for nearly $300. I told them the warranty should cover all this. They reviewed it and found it to be an error on their part. Since this experience, I have visited the dealer on numerous occasions for servicing. It has always been an ongoing issue for us. We also attempted to purchase a new vehicle, at the same dealer, for my wife back in November 2012. When we arrived, we were greeted by a gentleman, dont remember his name. He was quick to get us inside for a credit application. Didnt even allow us to test drive a car and figure out what we liked. After seeing that my wife did not have perfect credit, but fair credit, he then passed us over to a younger gentleman and said he had his appointment show up. It was an older couple that appeared to be well off. The younger gentlemen walked us around the car lot like lost puppies for about 20 minutes not knowing what type of car we wanted. My wife was looking for a smaller SUV like the Tucson and he began to show us the Elantra and the Accent. These are Hyundais more smaller, compact vehicles. My wife quickly spoke and said to him, Why are you showing us these cars? He said, Well this is within your budget and your credit. We had not even given him our budget. I told him we were looking at SUVs. That is what we told the other salesman. He said he told him to show us these cars. At this point, my wife became angry and said, Lets get out of here. These guys dont know what theyre doing. I told her to relax, lets at least get a test drive in before leaving. We test drove multiple vehicles and my wife really liked the Tucson. After this, we told him to work out some numbers. Told him we did not want to pay more than $400. He comes at us with $520 a month with $2000 down. I told him that would not work. He said, Well, theres the door if you dont like it. I looked at my wife and I was like wow, this is how they treat customers. We left very disappointed that day. Finally, this year, we had gone out Christmas shopping for the day. After doing our shopping, we came back to find that our Sonata was not starting. We checked the battery, even tried to get a jump start, but still nothing. After about an hour of exhausting all my options, I saw that there was a Tire Kingdom nearby. I pushed the car all the way to the lot. After speaking to the tech, he noticed the battery cable was loose, so he tightened it up. I was praying that it may have been the problem. We tried starting the car again and still got nothing. Finally, he told me there is something wrong with the starter. He recommended me contacting Hyundai because it would be about a $600 job. I then called Hyundai roadside assistance. They sent a tow truck to pickup my car. I was a good 25 miles from home. It was later in the evening so I asked them to tow it to the dealer closest to my home, again Universal Hyundai. I called and spoke to service department and they advised me to put the key in the afterhours drop box and fill out the form; I did. The next morning, I received a call from a service advisor and told me it would be $110 just to diagnose my car not including any repairs. My mileage was at 61k, the warranty had just ended at 60k. I asked him to help me out, but He said the warranty is pretty cut and dry, there was nothing anyone could do once you go over 60. I told him I guess I have no choice I needed the car fixed. He called me up about 2 hours later and told me it was the cable that connected the starter that was loose. Im thinking great, maybe it will be cheap repair since its just a cable not the starter. He quoted me a price of $340. I was so shocked to find this out. Right now is probably the worst time for something like this to happen, especially during the holidays. I had to gather up some cash and borrow money from family members just to cover this as I did not have a choice in the matter. I need my vehicle to get to work and back. He said the car would work with just this connection, but I could replace the whole starter if I wanted to. I picked up my car and looked at the invoice to see the part was $13.82, with $280 worth of labor fees, something that probably took less than 10 minutes to fix. The service advisor also told me there was an issue also with the steering column, something the warranty did not cover either. I was like what. He said the repair with parts and labor would be around a $1300 job. The warranty does not cover this. I contacted the service manager as a last resort and got nowhere, just the runaround. The service manager kept pointing the blame at Hyundai. He advised me to contact Hyundai customer support. I quickly called Hyundai and spoke with a person by the name of Fran. I explained the story once again to her and informed her that my warranty was over by a thousand miles and she looked to see if there may have been any recalls on my vehicle for any repairs. She did not find any, just ones that had already been repaired on my vehicle. She clearly stated without the warranty, there is nothing that can be done. I explained my frustration and told her I have had nothing but issues with this vehicle from the time I purchased it. She said, Let me get my case manager on the line, so you could speak with them. I waited for several minutes and a person by the name John came on the line. He was very cold and monotone in the way he spoke to me. He just confirmed once again what Fran had said about the warranty and was quick to point finger back at the dealer. I told him I have already contacted the dealer and they are pointing the blame on Hyundai. I told him Somebody has to step up to the plate and get this taken care of. This was something that was going on prior to the warranty expiring. He said there was nothing he can do, but just contact the dealer on my behalf and see if they will do it as a courtesy, or good will to not lose a customer. He said the turnaround time for this is 3 days. I told 3 days is unacceptable. He said it may not take a whole 3 days, that is the time frame. At this point, I was livid and just said thats fine. He called me the next day and said, I cant help nor can the dealer. I told him this will be the last time I ever purchase a Hyundai. I called back again and spoke with several other people and all of them had nasty attitudes with me. I guess they must made an extensive file about me being upset. This will be my last time buying a Hyundai. I guess the parts they use on their vehicles are only designed to last up to 60k miles. After that, youre pretty much on your own. I know Suzuki doesnt make cars anymore in the US, but I drove 2 new Suzuki’s for well over 90k miles and never had a problem. Boy, I wish Suzuki was still in the US. Id be getting rid of this car in a jiffy. I guess this was a hard lesson learned, but I will just try and finish paying it off, then trade it in.

On June 2020, I purchased a Palisade 2020 at Lougheed Hyundai. The car was purchased new. I quickly discovered that this car is in fact was damaged during the manufacturing process. Or, this may have been the result of damage incurred by workers at Lougheed Hyundai, which was then covered up. After a few days of having the car, I went to an automatic car cleaning service. After completing the wash, I noticed discoloration on the car body near the wheels (near the back passenger door) because its paint peels off. What bothered me with my experience at Lougheed Hyundai is the terrible customer experience and the general manager doesnt care of the customer. He offered me to repaint that part which is included in the warranty or he can replace that part of my car with a another new car!! So it might have been happened for my car before I purchased it. As a new Hyundai customer this is a very disappointed experience which I never had with different manufacture.

My wifes 2006 Sonato airbag light went off. We took it in and the dealer stated the seatbelt connector was defected. Even though we had an extended warranty, my wife had to pay to have it fixed. Just about a year after, the airbag light went off again and now the dealership will not cover its parts. The dealership said the part is now out of warranty and we would have to re-buy the belt. The belt works fine, but the light will not go off.

They repaired the throttle sensor on my 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe on 06-27-12. I did not notice that the hood latch did not work after until I went to have my battery checked the first part of 08/2012. At that time, I called them about it. The man, who was my service tech, did not say much. I took it to my dealer the last of August to have some work done. They told me that it would cost $119.00 to repair it. I feel that West Broad Hyundai of Richmond should repair or pay my dealer for the work. The latch cover on the inside of the car had to be taken off in order to open the hood. You now have to pull the wire to open the hood.

I had purchased a Hyundai Veracruz from Hyundai Juma Al Majid showroom on 27th April, 2011. The vehicle is under warranty for a period of 5 years and extended warranty for 2 years. Ever since I purchased my car, there is vibration in the steering wheel and the same has not been resolved till date in spite of continuous follow-up. I had noticed on the very second day that there was some problem with the steering. It was vibrating a lot even at a speed of 60 km/hour and I reported this to Hyundai immediately. I was asked to inform the service advisor about this issue during the first 1000 km service. I had made the complaint during the first service in May 2011 (3 weeks from the date of purchase). But even after the servicing was completed (mentioning everything is done), the vibration was still there. I had again reported this and was asked to keep the car in the workshop for further checking. They had done a test drive and agreed that there was vibration. After checking, I was told that there was an issue with the tire and that it would be replaced as the car was under warranty. The report was made by the workshop engineer and after some testing, the car was returned to me in the same old condition as the issue was not resolved.Subsequently, I have placed my car with the workshop about six times for several days together (more than a week in some cases) for servicing, but the problem has not been resolved. The last time I placed my car with the workshop, I was told that all five tires have been changed and the problem has been resolved. But the problem exists at speed of over 120 km/hour. Later, I have been told that one of the tires had not been changed. I have discussed the issue with several people in the workshop, showroom and customer service in several times, but I have not received satisfactory response. I am still clueless as to what the problem with my car is and whether my service advisors are aware of what the problem relates to, as they have not been able to identify and fix the problem for the past 9 months or give me a timeline to fix the issue. I am very much disappointed with the kind of service I receive and I can make out the difference between the service provided before and after the sale. If the problem is with the tire, why is it taking such a long time to replace it with good tires? If the problem is not with tires, it has to be identified or the vehicle has to be replaced. In all this trial and error game, it’s the customer who is suffering after having spent so much money on the vehicle. This has caused a lot of mental pressure and waste of time and money.

Once you buy the car you are on your own with respect to the warranty. There is a poor association with the dealers and the company. The dealer will tell you the work is not covered or do poor work on the car and you have no options. The company will say it is a dealer issue and the dealer will tell you that the corporation has such strict guidelines on warranty work and you will not get anywhere. I complained and sent letters to executives and the president and they will send you back to customer service which will give you the usual routine about company policy. There is NO means of escalation. All you can do as a customer is use social media. This company has archaic concepts of customer service. This company has a long way to go with respect to customer service after you buy the car. Warranty work is very limited. Do not expect standard repairs after you purchase. I will never buy a Hyundai Car again!!!

I am a soldier and have been in the army for over 20 years, been deployed to 3 tours. I purchased a 2009 Hyundai Azera Limited addition, with Satellite radio and GPS Navigation package, etc. I was looking between Toyota and Hyundai. I leaned Hyundai way because of the 100K warranty. I was thinking that is a great warranty until very recently when I actually needed the warranty. I did not maintain a book to track my oil changes, etc. I did an oil change in late Oct and purchased an aftermarket oil filter from AutoZone and Synthetic Oil. My wife was driving last week and she said the oil light came on briefly, then the Service engine light came on, then the car stopped running. The car has 88K miles on it and when I checked the oil and it was a little less than a quart low. The oil was not even dirty. I took it to the service dept of Hyundai in Lawton, Oklahoma and they are saying they will not honor the 100K warranty because I don’t have records. I tried to explain that I am a soldier and bought the car in El Paso while stationed at Fort Bliss, but it is a pretty sure bet that they are going to leave me high and dry on this. I have purchased 3 different Hyundais from them and this is the first time I needed to test the warranty. Looks like the 100k warranty sounds good on paper but if they dont honor it, I would have went somewhere else. I know I could go to the military Jag to attempt to get legal advice but Im sure Hyundai has much more money than I have so they could play the technicality cards all day and Im basically screwed. I can assure you I will never buy another Hyundai. I called the Cooperate office and am waiting for an answer back but Im really expecting to get the same answer as the local Service Dept. I really hope Hyundai will do the right thing. I have put my life on the line for this country and never expected to be treated like this from them.

I have owned a 2001 Hyundai Elantra for 3 years and have owned 3 Hyundais over the last 20 years. I have always been a loyal Hyundai owner, but I am now reconsidering that thought. Over the weekend, my car broke down when the control arm broke and left me right where I sat. After some research, I have discovered the part that broke was, at one time, under a recall. I called the Hyundai Customer Assistance Center yesterday, November 26, to inquire about the recall and was told that recall has expired. When I asked about the expiration date of the recall, I was told I would have to call my local dealership to find out when it expired. I couldnt understand why I would have to call the dealership when I was speaking to a case manager as he continually referred to himself as. I refused to call the dealership as someone from Hyundai had to tell the dealership when it expired. When I asked for a supervisor, I was told he was the case manager and his supervisor would tell me the same thing. I again asked for the supervisor and was told he is very busy. I was then put back on hold and had my husband go ahead and call the dealership about the recall and was told the recall was expired but he couldnt tell us when either. When the case manager came back to the phone, his story changed to my car didnt fall under the recall for the control arm issue. So, I still dont know if my car was part of the recall but the recall expired or my car wasnt part of the recall even though its the same problem that caused the recall to begin with. I didnt get anywhere with the case manager at the assistance center nor did I get to speak to a supervisor. I even left my name and number and was told he would return my call but I didnt hear back from him. At this point, my car is still where it broke down and so far, Hyundai has been zero help. I really dont want to put a lot of money into a car that I no longer have faith in the company that made it.

I wish there is a way for me to give zero stars for the unpleasant experience I am having with Hyundai. Within 9 months approximately from the purchase ofmy Hyundai Accent 2016, the car started issuing notifications on my dashboard, with some warning signals as the disconnection of the odometer causes the display to be stuck at zero mph while I am driving, the disconnection between the gas tank, the fuel signal reads wrong, which misleads me regarding the actual amount of gas car contains, etc.In the beginning phase of these issues like 2-3 times, I visited to Hyundai dealership where the technicians did their best to assess & understand the root cause of the problem and in order to fix it. Every time the technicians serviced the car and per their knowledge, they fixed the issue permanently and in few months the issue returned, and I had to re-visit the dealership. Past 3 years with this brand-new car purchase with the hope of living hassle-free life with my car turned into an exhausting nightmare. As of today, I visited dealership 10+ times specifically to fix this issue, the dealership technicians who themselves promised and were sure that the issue was fixed, were puzzled upon my return carrying the same issue. After being assessed multiple times on presenting the problem, the technicians concluded that my car has a manufacturing issue and there is not a permanent resolution for said. I would be happy if this conclusion was given in the beginning phase when I raised a ticket for this issue, it could have saved me 3 years of mental torture with this car that I am trying to fix. When I went for purchase Hyundai welcomed me like family and now when I am suffering from the malfunctioned car they sold, Hyundai takes no responsibility!!IF ANYBODY IS READING THIS REVIEW, PLEASE CHANGE YOUR MIND AND DO NOT BUY ANY HYUNDAI CAR. Even I can save one person making the same mistake I did, it will be a success.

Hyundai Buyer beware – Internal Processes & Systems are Broken with no way to resolve. I have a sizeable credit balance (>$1,000) on my car loan account after paying the loan off over 4 months ago with Hyundai Motor Finance (HMF) even after contacting both HMF and Hyundai Corporate US. Even after contacting and/or attempting to contact HMF over 50 times, I have no confidence this balance owed to me will be refunding any time soon. When calling HMF customer service directly, I either get a message that they are too busy at this time and informed to “please call back again at a later time,” or customer service tells me that this is a payment department issue and the only way to inquire about the issue is through email to their own internal department and to date, they have not received a response. This has been going on for months even after being told that the response time is typically 3-5 business days and that there is nothing more they can do than to continue to send the payment department additional emails to inquire on the status. I have been told that the credit balance refund should be an automated process to refund any credit balance to me and they do not understand why there is an issue. Then I tried to contact Hyundai Corporate US to see what they could do to help with the situation. I am told that since HMF is separate from Corporate and even though they are a related organization within their corporate structure, there is nothing they can do to help me even after I requested them to contact HMF on my behalf as I was willing to provide them with all my loan information – WOW. No one will step up to the plate to help with resolution. Times are tough with COVID-19 right now and I could certainly use the money, but one seems to care. Hence – buyer beware as Hyundai internal processes are broken, their customer service team members have little concern in helping to bring resolution to an ongoing issue or to go out of “normal” processes to help you resolve the situation. I find it amazing that HMF customer service cannot pick up the phone to contact another internal department (customer service claims that they do not have a phone number for the payment department) when their standard internal process is not working. I even contact the original selling dealer finance department manager to see if he could assist in any way, but while they said they would attempt, I have never received a response from them as to whether they had any success – so here I continue to wait for my money. Wish me luck with my ongoing attempts to resolve. Loyal customer Hyundai owner to date (as this was my 7th purchase of a Hyundai vehicle, currently own 3, but this may be my last),Tom K
