In August 2015, I purchased a 2015 Hyundai Tucson in 2015. I have had all routine maintenance done and the car has 86,000 miles on it. No mechanic has ever told me of any engine issues or potential engine issues. Two weeks ago, I was driving home at 10:00 PM. Without warning, my engine seized and my car stalled in the middle of a very busy, dangerous intersection. Thanks to the assistance of my father and a good Samaritan, I was able to get my car out of the road and I was able to get safely home. However, this had the potential to be extremely dangerous for myself and other drivers on the road.I took my car to a local Hyundai dealership and I was told by a certified Hyundai mechanic that I would need a new engine. I immediately contacted the Hyundai Customer Care Center and I was told that because I am not the original owner, they will not honor the 10-year/100,000 mile warranty. I was told they might honor the limited warranty, but I would need to come up with records of every oil change I have had on the car. Other than that, they have been of no assistance to me. I am beyond frustrated and furious at this point. This is not an issue of user error, this is clearly a defect on the part of the manufacturer and they should be the ones resolve the problem. I consider myself an informed consumer, and I would not have purchased this car if I had known this was a possibility.

In 2006, I bought a used 2004 Hyundai accent automatic from Thrifty Car rental. I had the car checked through by Hyundai and they confirmed it was in perfect shape. About 6 months ago, shifting became very hard and sometimes the transmission would refuse to shift gear even if I had shifted it with the clutch. Problems got worse. I took it to Hyundai for a diagnostic test and was told it needed a new transmission which would cost $3,000.00. As the car is so old, I opted for a used transmission and took it to a shop where my husband had his transmission replaced. By now, it is 3 transmissions later, 1 computer later and the car has been in the 2nd shop for 2 weeks with a highly recommended transmission expert and it is not working. I sent 2 emails to Hyundai last week and never received an answer. I called today, on 9/23/2011, and after some back and forth, I was told that there is no recall and that they could not help me with the car. In the meantime, I checked online and found a lot of people complaining about transmission issues with exactly that 2004 car. Pages and pages, so there obviously is an issue. My son, who is learning to be a car mechanic and therefore has access to information we normal people do not, also found information on major issues with that years transmission. Yet Hyundai insists, there is no campaign on it, so there is nothing wrong on their end. I have been driving Hyundai since 1996 and loved that car, that is why I bought another one in 2004 but that car is proving to be quite a problem. Hyundai is certainly shattering my opinion of them.

We purchased a 2020 Hyundai Kona and drove it for approximately 12,000 miles. At that point, the transmission started lurching and the check engine light came on. We immediately took the car in to the dealer. After a week and a half calling almost every day to find out what was wrong, we were informed that the transmission had completely failed. Still under warranty, we had to wait another two weeks or so for Hyundai to approve the repair of a car with 12,000 miles. Obviously waiting for better than three weeks just to diagnosis the repair and get the green light for repair is absurd, but it gets so much worse. As you would expect, we called the dealer every couple of days to check in. 100% of our calls went to voicemail and the dealer returned our call about 1 out of every 4 times. We were finally told that Hyundai doesnt have the parts for repair and that they dont have any timeline for getting the parts. At that point, we tried to work with Hyundai to get the car repurchased under our state lemon law. Our particular law states that cars under warranty are eligible for lemon status if they have been in the sop for greater than 30 days (cumulative) while under warranty. When we started working with Hyundai, we were already at nearly 60 days without the car. Hyundai took our information 3 separate times because they are apparently as bad at record keeping as they are at manufacturing and customer service, and then denied our request without providing a reason for the denial. We have now gone to the BBB to try and resolve the issue under their manufacturers program. The BBB says that they generally resolve issues in 30 days, but we are weeks into the process and Hyundai hasnt even responded to the BBB complaint. As of this writing, our car has been at the dealer for 72 days and we still have no idea when we may get it back or whether Hyundai plans to force us to sue them. Meanwhile, we are trying to figure out what to do to get out of this terrible purchase decision. I dont know what more I can say to warn you, but for the love of everything that is holly, do not buy a Hyundai. Maybe you will get lucky and your new Hyundai wont have a breakdown, but you really need to ask yourself if you can risk months without a car, should you have an issue. There are better options out there and you should take them. Hyundai is not worth the risk, I promise you!

I slid off the road and called roadside assistance. I had been pulled out about a month ago, also. This time they said they would not pay for being pulled out. We have had a severe winter and have had a lot of ice and snow. On the Hyundai advertising it says, 5 years unlimited roadside assistance, with 24/7, 365 day service. The roadside assistance representative said they recently changed their rules. (Almost a year after I purchased my 2013 Sonata) I talked to representative **. She never told me what rule they changed. I told her they couldnt change the rules retroactively. She said they could and did so. She referred me to the towing service subcontractors. (Cross Country Motor Club) The motor club informed me that the car had to be less than 10 feet from the road, to be pulled back onto the road. I asked him who made that new rule and they could not tell me that. I told them that if a car slid into the ditch, it would be 10 feet from the highway 90% of the time, and that would make roadside assistance unusable 90% of the time. I threatened to go public to the internet and also press a possible lawsuit. My car is well within the 10-foot rule. They still refused. I’m handicapped and a senior citizen. The roadside assistance was a major reason why I purchased the car. Now, Hyundai is going back on their word. I started to call my dealer and before I could talk to him, a towing company called and said they would be at my place within 2 hours. I called the towing company and asked if Hyundai was paying for it and they said yes. Hyundai previously said they would call to get me help, but I would be charged $170.00. I dont think that any customer should put up with a company that treats its customer in the above manner.

I bought a 2011 Hyundai Elantra in Feb. 2011. The only reason I bought this car was for the gas mileage advertisement, 29 city/40 hwy. I was getting 22 city and 40 hwy. This was acceptable, even though the city was 7 miles lower. After my 3000 mile oil change, I am now getting 16 miles city. I have taken my car to the dealer. They said they could not gauge city driving. I asked them what is the problem. They tested the car on the highway going 30 miles. They said they averaged 34 miles. I am totally dissatisfied with the low mileage. Most of my driving is city/partial highway and I am hard time living with this situation. In 2010, I had a Nissan Altima, loaded and got 18 city miles and in the mid 30s highway. Presently, I am averaging 177 miles to 10.5 gallons of gas. Is there anything I can do about this?

My wifes 2006 Sonato airbag light went off. We took it in and the dealer stated the seatbelt connector was defected. Even though we had an extended warranty, my wife had to pay to have it fixed. Just about a year after, the airbag light went off again and now the dealership will not cover its parts. The dealership said the part is now out of warranty and we would have to re-buy the belt. The belt works fine, but the light will not go off.

I just purchased a certified 2010 Sonata, with 59,000 miles on it, at Northtowne Hyundai in Gladstone Missouri. I brought the car to the dealerships service department to complain about a loud tapping sound coming from the top of the engine. I suspect it is a lifter issue. The service manager immediately dismissed the sound as fuel injector noise and stated that it was normal.I recently sold my 1995 Chrysler LHS (fuel injected) with 220,000 mile on it and never heard such a noise. If you are anyone else who heard the volume of this tapping, you would be concerned also! !

I was involved in a collision yesterday with my 2012 model iX35. My car was severely damaged on the left front and side bumper, the hood was mangled on the left side, and windscreen slightly cracked. The electronics box was damaged to the point where no electronics worked on the vehicle so I couldnt even close windows or start the car. In retrospect after contemplating the resultant damage, I have to say that I was most impressed with how much impact the front-left-end of the vehicle withstood and how this area was designed to take most of the impact of the collision without the driver (myself) being harmed in any way. Im a little stiff and still post-traumatized as this was my first accident - however - inside the vehicle everything was solid and in place. The airbags did not pop - which is a good sign as this shows that the vitals in the engine were not harmed due to the collision. Although I still have to receive the results of the assessment to the damage - I can only say I felt incredibly safe in the vehicle. Im still trying to fathom how little impact I felt in the vehicle - no whiplash or moving forward abruptly. Im most impressed.

Very happy with my 10 year old car. Bought this Sonata brand new. 10 years later I still drive it. I have 156,000 miles on it. I change oil according to book, have replaced battery once. Bought new tires twice. Have not had any major problems. Drive great. I bought it because it had a great warranty. The only complaint I have is with Hyundai service department. They are not very good. Once I learned I could take it any mechanics as long as they use Hyundai parts. Thats the way to go.

I have a 2009 Sonata with leather seats and 56,000 miles. It’s still under the so-called bumper-to-bumper warranty. The leather on the drivers seat is cracking and peeling (the same thing happened to my 2007 Elantra). The dealer said it was a wear item and not covered by warranty. I asked them to show me where in the book does it say this, and they pointed to a short sentence that says any wear item is not covered under warranty. They told me Hyundai has a list of not covered items. I called Hyundai to complain and the first thing he said is We have an extensive list of items not covered by our warranty. Wow, it would be nice if they put this in the customers warranty information. He put me on hold, and then came back and said that seats and upholstery are not covered by any warranty, not even for one day for new vehicle. It would also be nice if they told the truth in their advertising. They use the warranty to sell their cars, but they are in fact lying about their warranty coverage.

2011 Hyundai Elantra 1.8 L. - When stopped for a red light or just sitting at an idle (in gear or in neutral), the engine 1.8L vibrates so much that your body shakes while you are waiting for the green light. Vibration stops once the car is moving at normal speeds. I was told by the dealers service manager that Hyundai is aware of this problem, but few owners have experienced this problem and Hyundai may not fix this. Ive had this problem since I bought this car new off their lot. Its been 2 years now and I am very disappointed in the way Hyundai is doing nothing about my problem. I have continuously been bringing the car back to to the dealer asking the service people where I bought this car to please fix the problem. They keep telling me there is nothing they can do to fix it. At present, I have 40k miles. Please advise me.

Hello my name is Johnny **, I have a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. On October 15th my vehicle turned off while driving, I had the vehicle towed to Sport Hyundai in Egg Harbor Township, service guys there are great, anyway the vehicles engine I was told needed to be replaced, I was sent to Enterprise car rental office in Pleasantville NJ then I found out that Hyundai is only paying $25 towards my rental and I had to pay $18 difference a day, I just feel that if the vehicles engine was defective or recalled I should not be paying for anything, so I sent an email to Hyundai explaining my situation. They said that unfortunately there is nothing that they can do. I was thinking of trading my car in before all this happened and get a new Hyundai but after this experience I wouldn’t do it and will encourage anyone I know not to invest in Hyundai at all.

I bought a Hyundai Accent 2016 as a compact car for the city in late April
I bought a Hyundai Accent 2016 as a compact car for the city in late April 2016. The test drive was short; I did not notice any issue then. After a few weeks driving small distances every other day, I noticed that my back was getting stiff, my neck also, and I developed acute pain in the sciatic nerve. Every bump on the road made it less and less bearable. Early July, I had to drive the car on much longer distances through the city... By the third day I was crippled in bed with excruciating pain. As I was contemplating the ceiling wondering how I was going to take my dog out and feed the kids, I realized that the last time this had happened, 25 years ago, I had bought a Hyundai Excel and I had not linked the pain to the car! Instead I spent thousands of dollars at a chiropractor and on pain killers; saddened that I had a bad back at such a young age. I had no idea a seat could be so badly built; also the suspension could be so weak and of bad quality, that it could injure our backs. In between I bought a Volvo to raise a family; then a Lexus; and I had no problem even during pregnancy or after moving stuff from house to house. This time, I went online and yes, many others also experience back pain in a Hyundai. Doing yoga, bicycling and being fit, my age is not related to the problem, I told the dealer when I brought the car back. He offered 14 000 dollars in July to take my 20 000 dollars Hyundai back. He tried to sell to me a Sonata or an Elantra 2017 for an extra four thousand dollars. I refused. I simply cannot afford such a loss. Online I had found that many others also report acute back problems with these Sonata and Elantra. I contacted Hyundai Canada and they told me to try another dealership, that there was nothing they could do.I researched and ordered two orthopedic cushions and back support to help. I still have a sensitive back. It is manageable, as long as I do not do long drives. Otherwise I feel stiff and need special care and rest when I get out of the car. My yoga practice has suffered from this and I no longer contemplate becoming a yoga instructor. So please DO NOT BUY A HYUNDAI IF YOU WANT TO AVOID SUCH DAMAGE TO YOUR BACK. I will sell this car as soon as possible and will never own a Hyundai again. The second time was one too many. Now I know.

I have had this car for 14 days. When I bought it the salesman could not get the nav to show anything but one major interstate. I trusted (HUGE MISTAKE) that the dealership would make it right. Now they tell me it has to be set at 150 feet to show street names. If youre on the highway going 60 mph - or even back roads at 40 - you wont have enough time to make the correct turns. Had they been honest about the severe limitations of the cars navigation system, I would have NEVER bought it. It would have been a deal breaker. I feel the dealership beginning to be very sleazy about this: Hyundai Great Lakes in Streetsboro, OH. In early Jan. I bought a new 2014 Hyundai Tucson. Shortly after I started to notice a smell that I thought was just the car breaking in. After about 1,000 miles I asked the salesman about some smoking from the engine. He said it was probably just the new car breaking in. It seemed to disappear for a while. Then around 4,000 miles it seemed to start again or at least I started to notice it again. I made an appointment to bring it in for service and to check it out. They told me it was a cracked gasket and they had to order the part. They gave me a rental and I returned the next day to pick it up. Then they told me they found 2 holes in the manifold and it was leaking oil and they had to check with a tech to find out what to do. They had to order a new head and I guess rebuild the engine. After a week without my car I went in to see the salesman to see when it will be done and if they could do anything to compensate me for the inconvenience. They said they could put me in another new car (lease to own) for about 5,000 more dollars. Same payments and a buyout fee of about 12,000 dollars. I had a 6 year loan and this would be more than I signed on for 3 months ago (and about 4,500 miles ago). This is 4/12/14 and I still dont know when my car will be ready! I took it in on 4/03/14. We love the appearance of our Hyundai Sonata. However, it is covered under an oil consumption recall which the dealer will not fix. Hyundais complaint department is no help other than recommending us going to another dealer. The next dealer is further away from us. We already drive too far to the current dealer for them to do the oil consumption test. Said oil consumption test involves the dealer changing the oil early due to the oil consumption. They have guidelines that say the car must use 1 quart of oil by 1,000 miles. Our car makes it barely past 1,000 miles and then hits 2 quarts low before the oil change is due.We have been advised not to add oil or get oil changed anywhere other than the dealership. Thats what we are doing. They seem to overfill the oil each time which gets us barely past that 1,000 mile guideline. We cant trust this car for trips. We cant keep driving back and forth to the dealership for them to do nothing. We will not buy another Hyundai and we will continue to warn others of our troubles.

I am hoping this will help me in some way. In Aug of 2014, I spoke to Hyundai Motor Finance (the company I am having issues with, not the dealership) asking what I need to pay and how I need to pay to get my lease balance paid down so the dealership will buy my Sonata from me. The bank told me to just pay the X” amount of dollars needed through the website. I do that and the payment hit on Aug. 20th. I go to a dealership, and they tell me a payment was not shown on their end and they will not help me. I called the bank and they said the payment, should not have been processed like that and that they will re-apply it so it reflects at the dealership. Almost 1 month later it was re-applied, on Sept 18th 2014. I go to another dealership, someone met worked at this one, gave me the same exact answer. I call the bank again and once again I get another another answer. I have 3-wayed myself, the bank and several Hyundai Dealership reps (including management) and no answer was the same. The number at the bank wouldnt show up at the dealership. My payment would not show up at the dealerships. The bank reps told the dealership to just pay a certain amount, they would not send the dealership an official notarized invoice saying how much is owed. It was pretty much just ‘take our word for it’ type of deal. Basically another dealership told me they will not go by HMF word because they do not TRUST them and has had issues. How come the Hyundai bank and dealership not work together and have the same financing system is beyond me. The dealership told me to get a refund from the bank and give them the money and they will pay the difference that way. So from the end of September till this day, I have been waiting to get a refund. I have spoken to managers and reps and everyone has ** and have not helped me. I sent $8500 in August and still waiting to get some of it back. I spoke to 4 different managers and was told I would get a call back. No one has ever called me back. I ask them if they see the notes saying for a call back and it is all written there. Either the manager is on lunch or in a meeting. Right! In Oct, I was told a check would ship Oct 4th. I call back Nov 12th asking when it was shipped and they said Nov 5th and shipped to your current mailing address. I call back Nov 18th asking where this check is and they said it was shipped yesterday, Nov 17th.” Make it worse they shipped it to my old mailing address!! They apologized for not adding the mailing address. How do they make such a mistake when they ask you for your address at the beginning of each call? I speak to a manager right after that. She told me she would put a stop to the check and get a check over-nighted to me. Ashley the manager promised to call me back that day. Never did. I call back that evening and shes allegedly on Lunch!! Sure. Call back today Nov 19th and every single manager is in the meeting. Guess what, I was supposed to get a call back. NOTHING!! NO CALL BACKS AND NO REFUND!! Top it off, this car was supposed to be turned in Aug before my car insurance was due. I have had to pay for full coverage for 4 months for a car I am not driving.

I called them this morning because of a flat tire in my driveway. I was off the phone in less than 5 minutes. The estimated time of arrival was 9:21 am. They actually got there 10 minutes early. Everyone was wonderful and helpful. Fast and courteous. Not one complaint. Definitely would use them again any day of the week.

We were prepared to pay cash for the car on 12/31/11, but we were told that we would get $500 more off the car if we financed and then we could pay it off. So before we received the coupon book, we sent in an estimated amount for the purchase price plus estimated interest. The next month we received a bill for $11.23 for the difference of additional finance charges which we paid. For the past week, the autodial collection people have called us at least 15 times (over 5 times on 3/26), looking for the monthly payment of $839. Finally, my husband was on hold for over 20 minutes waiting to speak to a supervisor who said our account was paid in full. We have continued to get calls since then for the same thing. On 3/37, we got 2 more calls. I am not that happy with the car to begin with. The gas mileage is way under what was represented. After the experience with the finance people, I will never buy another Hyundai. Also, the phone representatives were rude and the auto-dialer put us on hold several times after we answered the phone. What kind of customer service is that?

My experience with Hyundai is once again worst than the last. It is my 3rd disappointment with them and last, I just came out of a 3 year lease and decided I wanted to buy the car and instead of showing me my options through Hyundai Finance which I was leasing with they convinced me with lies about how being I didnt use the car much, I would have to pay more and convinced me to go with Chase auto loan, after a few days I called Hyundai Finance and the person on the phone told me, I should have bought through them which would have been close to 8k less, through Hyundai finance it would have ranged around 9k plus maybe 3k in taxes and instead now I will end up paying close to 18k.It is my 3rd and final deal with them, no one there is honest and they are out just to rob you, I should have gone with my gut and listened to my cousin and end my lease and bought through Carvana, I wish I knew the info I got from the person on the phone earlier but I thought I was dealing with honest people, anyways God bless them and everyone reading this and make sure you always ask all the right questions and if you have to take time or reschedule to review things before you commit to it or sign documents, do so, so you dont get trapped and tricked like I did.

There is an existing problem for about 2 3 months and its not getting better. There is a burnt smell when the heat is on, dewy film on front windshield. I can clean the windows and its back in a few days. I constantly need to drive with the windows down for fresh air and unable to have passengers due to health and safety concerns. The problem seems to be coming from the vents on the dashboard (right below the windshield) regardless of whether the heat is on or off.I tested my theory by covering the vents for 2 days while driving and the symptoms below decreased. So the vapors that are causing the problems are coming through those dash vents which make sense considering the above problems. I turned on the defroster on 5/8/13 after the car sat all night and smelled antifreeze for about 2 minutes from the dash vents. Also I did some internet research and found some common themes with the 2012 Sonata GLS: PVC collapsing and causing fumes; vapors to back up inside the cabin; antifreeze vapors coming through the dash vents. The vapors/leaks were not detected through the pressure test, they were found through a manual check.Symptoms experienced by driver and/or passenger in vehicle are: dizziness; extreme eye irritation and burning; headache; taste buds dull out and when they return hours later, its almost a sugary taste; nausea.

My wife and I purchased a new 2010 Hyundai Sonata. We purchased this car because my wife commuted to work about 80 miles one way and liked the fact that it had the 100,000 mile warranty on the engine. The car has been great mechanically but now the exterior door handles are breaking off. I have since found out from 2 different dealerships that this is a known problem and was directed to file complaints with Hyundai and my Attorney General’s Office. Hyundai did contact me to address the complaint but refuse to offer any kind of assistance to repair the handles. I would not recommend this car to anyone looking to purchase one. This is not an isolated case. It is a known problem.

As soon as they have your money youre on your own. NO SUPPORT even from Hyundai USA!! I have an entourage. The headlights used to blow every three months that used to tick me off, but now they dont blow anymore because they dont work at all now!!! And its a really common problem with this manufacturer. I called the main Hyundai customer service line and they are completely useless and really couldnt give a crap about the vehicle they sold you. Do yourself a favor. Take your hard earned money and put it in a vehicle manufacturer that values your time and money and your loyalty. THESE CLOWNS DONT!!!

I will never again purchase another Hyundai. Never realized what a joke it
I will never again purchase another Hyundai. Never realized what a joke it is to get any sort of help from this company plus when it comes to any warranty issues, theyll do just about anything to not cover it. I purchased a 2010 Sonata back in Nov 09, car was absolutely beautiful, ran great and till a few weeks ago, still loved my car. Well a few weeks ago, my car started making a knocking sound under the hood so I decided to bring it into a Hyundai dealership to get it checked out. Mind you, I called on a Thursday and asked them what day should I come in, I was told drop it off Sunday night and theyll get to it first thing in the morning. They didnt start my car until 4 in the afternoon but thats beside the problem. I get a call at 4 from Hyundai that I need to get down there immediately. So me and my pregnant wife with twins get in the car and go down there and the lady goes look, do you see that buildup of oil inside the engine? All she did was take the oil cap off and shined a flashlight in there. So I said to the lady, Yea...your point? She said, Hyundai is not gonna cover the problem. I asked, What is the problem, whats with the knocking sound? Lady tells me they cant diagnose the car because of the little oil buildup. You gotta be kidding me. I have all my records from all my oil changes and maintenance thats been done. I ended up taking my car home because they wouldnt fix my car. I have full warranty plus an extended warranty and do do jack with it. Hyundai consumer affairs is a joke. Theyve been giving me the runaround and this has been going on since December 8th. No one will help me. I will never, ever buy from HYUNDAI again and I will make sure to advise family and friends to stay away from a company that is very unprofessional and totally against helping the customer. Funny how they rave about their phenomenal warranty coverage but God forbid you need to use it....forget it POS.

Took car in - eng. light on, abs, 4 wheel light, esc light on. First off they charged me 150 to diagnose eng. light which should have been covered under warranty because light was on. Second abs, 4wd, and esc light was on due to and to have car inspected the dealer claims car wont pass inspection because of brakes and rear tires (they did same last year - when I left that dealer and went to a local Ford dealer the car passed with no problems. I couldnt take the car to the Ford dealer this year because eng. light was on). Wheel speed sensor (which they replaced last year [other side]) dropped off on Monday 4/20/15. Was called on 4/24/15 car was done picked up car on 4/25/15 cause I work 2nd shift so did not get call till midnight when I got home. Went Sat. morn to pick up car - drove car home. While getting ready to go to work noticed oil on back window, tail gate, and rear bumper. Looked in motor compartment and noticed oil around and on motor. Checked oil - the level was up so guessed they didnt clean up oil from changing valve cover. Called dealer. Explained problem. They wanted me to bring car back. Said I couldnt because of work and never make it by the 6pm time he gave me. I told him what I thought it was he asked to check oil level. Told him I did and level was up. He said ok to drive but keep eye on oil level and to call Monday morning to make arrangements to bring car in. Did as instructed - called on Mon. morn. Was told to try to have car towed. Tried to find tow truck - only one the dealer suggested was 200 and about 3 hours. Called dealer back. Explained to him about tow co. and explained to him that I looked under car and that there was no oil under the motor but there was oil dripping from where they put the new axle in. He told me not to drive the car in but to have it towed in. I asked him who pays the tow bill. He stated I have to. I told him it was where they fixed it why do I have to have it towed in. His statement was until they find out the problem was it was up to me to get it in. The dealer called me on 4/28/15 - stated that the leak was from the axle that for some reason that the axle would not lock in. I asked him then who pays the towing bill, he stated to bring bill in but he doubts they will pay.Third oil leak in motor, they said was valve cover gasket was leaking again (replaced last year for same reason). Also when I dropped the car off the week before that there was a chirping noise in the front of the motor. The dealer claimed it was idler pulley and replace it now. The motor knocks real bad. The dealer said it was my fault for not having oil changed on a regular time frame, I told him that it was changed on a reg basis. He told me that the oil filter was full of sludge. I told him that You show me one motor that at 97000 miles that doesnt have sludge in it.He got pissed off and wouldnt talk until I asked if he was still there on the phone. He told me to bring in receipts for oil changes. I dont have all because there were times I changed oil and filter myself. He told me that I would have to pay to have the motor torn down at my cost at three hours labor and if there is any sludge in motor that I would have to pay them for the repair. Every time I take car to this dealer I always have problems and no other dealer will do the work on the car because of the warranty and the extended warranty. Sorry. Tried to be short and to the point as possible.

Zero Rating if possible. I dont really know where to begin with this brand and its terrible cars. I purchased a brand new Hyundai Sonata Turbo in 2013. Ive spent countless hours with my car in the shop over the car sputtering, shaking, cutting off at stop signs. Not to mention the electronics in the car are terrible; Bluetooth doesnt connect half the time for unknown reasons. Theres been at least 4 recalls done since I purchased this car. I had to get a total electrical discharge done to reset the electronics because the car was going haywire. Finally, Im down on Myrtle Beach for vacation and the car totally shuts off. Turns out it was a faulty engine that needed to be replaced. Took 30 days to get the engine sent in from Korea and replaced. Then somehow the rental car that I had racked up an amazing 2400 bill of which Hyundai determined to only pay $400. And then afterward I noticed the car jumping and things shifting and making horrible noises under the hood. Turns out the repairmen didnt screw the transmission mount screws on tight enough both of the bolts had the heads off and the transmission was moving around while I was driving. The dealership told me the car would be fine to drive and so I did until it just became unbearable. Now they want me to fork over another $1700 to replace the entire subframe that they messed up when installing the engine. Hyundai is a horrible company with Horrible cars. I will never purchase another thing from you and your terrible dealerships. Go out of business for the countries sake or leave your terrible cars in Korea.

I bought my 2012 Sonata GLS brand new in March of 2012 with 36 miles on it.
I bought my 2012 Sonata GLS brand new in March of 2012 with 36 miles on it. Never a single mechanical issue with it until this past January 2015. My car randomly shut off while driving home from getting my oil changed at the dealer. After trying to figure out the problem on our own with no luck, I called the dealership the next day and they told me to call Hyundai Roadside Assistance and have the car towed into the shop so they could take a look at it and figure out what was going on.I called roadside assistance and after going round and round with the man on the phone, they located my car and towed it to the dealership. A day or two later, I hadnt heard anything about the status of my car, so I called the service dept and asked what was going on. I was told Oh! I was JUST about to call you! and they informed me that my engine locked up. When I asked how that happens and was told that he had no idea how it happened because I always have my car serviced at the dealer so they have records that my cars maintenance has been kept up with. I had to ask what I was supposed to do about a vehicle while they waited for Hyundai to approve a new engine. Then he asked my age, I informed him I was 25 and then he told me they could put me in a loaner car but probably not till the next day. They put me in a loaner car, the engine was approved and put in and they called me to come pick up my car. About a week after picking up my car, my check engine light came on. I was nervous because I was about to leave to go on a 5 hour trip. I called and they told me to come in so they could check it. I went in and the lady told me it was basically the car registering that there had been a problem before which didnt make a lot of sense to me, but she cleared the light and I went on my way.Not long after that, I was on the highway and my car was jerking while I was driving. I called the dealership right away and the man told me that is normal. It’s basically the car re-learning the new engine. I took his word for it because I dont know much about cars and that made a little sense. My check engine light came on again and I called the dealer. I was told I would be charged a $90 diagnostic fee for them to see why it was on. Not long after that, I was sitting in a pretty long line in the drive-thru of a restaurant and looked down to see my temperature warning light on and my temperature gauge was all the way to the hot side. As soon as I started driving, it quickly went down and after having it looked at, I was informed that my fan is not working which is why the car overheats when it sits idle, but is fine when driving.I then went to Advanced Auto to have them see why my check engine light was on. The associate informed me that it was my camshaft position sensor and my crankshaft position sensor. I took my car into the dealer because it was due for an oil change. While I was there, they told me there was a recall with something to do with the computer. While I was there, I talked with a woman at the service desk and explained the whole situation to her. She told me that sensors arent covered under my PowerTrain warranty and that even though the engine and the sensors were new they still were not covered and would be my responsibility to fix. They changed my oil and they fixed the recall and 5 days later, my car wont even start.Today (6/9/15) I once again, called Hyundai roadside assistance and they picked up car up from my home and took it to the same dealer this morning. I received a call this afternoon from the same man I dealt with when they put the new engine in. He informed me that my starter went bad and that it is not covered under my warranty and there is no way that could have been our fault from putting in a new engine and they would need to put a new one in before they could check to see why the car was overheating. He said to get the new starter in, I was looking at around $500 and he would go ahead and get that put in for me now. Didnt even bother to ask if thats what I wanted him to do which I didnt. I told him NOT to do that, and that I would be looking into other options. I have literally NEVER been more frustrated with a company in my entire life. I pay a great deal of money every month because I wanted to buy a brand new car so that I wouldnt have all these problems, yet here I am. No car and no idea what to do to get this situation taken care of when I dont have the money to pay for all these issues.

On 8/20/2013 I was leaving the VA clinic, I put the car in drive and pressed the gas. A few seconds later the car sounded like a motorcycle and the check engine light came on. I didnt want to drive it on the highway so I took the main streets. The exhaust got louder and louder and I was afraid it might cause engine damage. I saw a Meineke Car Care Center and pulled in. They lift the car and the mechanic said that the converter gasket blew out. While installing a new gasket he noticed that the gasket flange on the front pipe was a little distorted probably from all the heat. He told me he would have to put a small amount of sealer on the gasket to make up for the gap and that he didnt know if it would hold, but it would get me to the Hyundai service department without hurting the engine. When he had finished and started the car it was perfect. No noise, no leaks. I had an appointment with Twin City Hyundai on 9/12 for a recall problem. I told them what had happened and the Service rep., the service manager and a mechanic looked for almost an hour and took some parts off the front of the engine. The service rep. called me over and started explaining what was wrong with the car. He said, and they ALL agreed that the manifold was cracked and had to be replaced, the converter was no good, and needed a new front pipe, and they may find other problems after they tore it down. Travis said it would cost $1400 to $3000 if the warranty didnt cover it. Travis (the service rep.) said he had to take some pictures to see if the warranty would cover the cost. On Monday 9/16 Travis called and said the warranty was void because it was road damage, and said it would be as much as $3,000.00 to fix it. Travis NEVER said anything about “Road Damage” on 8/20 after the 3 of them had a one hour inspection. After I got Travis’s call I took the car back to Meineke and told them what Twin City said it would cost. They were outraged and called it a scam. Meineke fixed the car perfectly by installing a new front pipe and their inspection showed NO manifold crack, and no need to replace the converter as it was working properly. The front pipe was $200.00.I drove to Twin City Hyundai and acted like I wanted to have them fix the car. I asked Travis to take another look and make sure he was sure about his appraisal, and what the car needed to be fixed. Even though the car was fixed he still said that it could be as much as $3000 but definitely no lower than $1400. That’s when I told him the car was fixed for $200 and that I wondered how many others he had scammed. I then went up and talked to the General Manager **, and explained the fraud that they tried to pull. His comments were “what would you like me to do about it?” I said as the General Manager, I guess that was up to him, and then out of nowhere he says you are banded from brings your car here for warranty service. He tries to punish me for because I caught his people trying to scam me out of $2800.00.

Im sending this email as a complaint against the Hyundai dealership in Plan
Im sending this email as a complaint against the Hyundai dealership in Plano Tx. (909 Coit Rd , Plano). One of your employees, Nicholas ** has a Pending Felony charge (Family Violence-Strangulation) and has also been arrested for Grand Theft Auto. This employee is giving Hyundai a bad name and owes me a sincere apology.I personally went in to Hyundai on October 7th (Friday) to order a manual for a 2011 Sonata. The man took down my information (name and number) and told me it would be in the next week (most likely Tuesday). I left and never heard from him again. One week later on October 14th, my girlfriend, Jessica ** heard from Nicholas ** (her ex husband) a salesman that works up there. He works in a completely different building than the parts department where I placed my order for the manual. He texted her and told her that her manual is in, but that I wasn’t allowed to come pick it up. He said that I made a scene when I went to place my order for my manual. Nicholas and Jessica ** are separated, and have been for 6 months. Their divorce will be final in December. Nicholas is still very upset that Jessica left him and sees me as the reason for it all. When in reality he is the one to blame. But I came in as a customer that day needing a manual for our Sonata. I didn’t even see Nicholas on the day I came in and I didn’t want to. He claims I made a scene. The scene he is referring to, is when Tarrah (a salesperson) was assisting me to the parts department and helping me get what I needed, she asked my name and I told her who I was.She immediately made the connection of who I was. Nicholas had told her, other employees, and his managers all about his personal life; making up off the wall comments and stories about me and his ex-wife. But I didn’t come up there to discuss this. When Tarrah told me all he said about us (slandering Jessica and myself), I simply told her none of what he told them was true. I then placed my order and left. That’s when Jessica got a text from Nicholas about the manual even though he had nothing to do with the order I placed. He got my information (cell number and order I placed). I’m angered by this because it is an invasion of my privacy. He is a salesperson and he shouldn’t have had anything to do with my order. Jessica didn’t place the order, I did. And I went up there as a customer. Not even wanting to deal with Nicholas. I just wanted my manual. So Nicholas then told Jessica that since I made a scene, I’m not allowed to come pick up my manual or else the police would be called. I was furious and outraged. I never spoke with the manager and was never contacted directly by him. Jessica however was contacted again this time by the manager Roosevelt, and told him my side of the story. She told him that she and I were willing to sit down with him and review the security camera where I made this scene they were referring to. The manager said that it wasn’t necessary. Jessica told Roosevelt (manager) that I planned on going to corporate offices and complaining. That’s when he stuttered over his words and quickly said he would have someone call for my mailing info and credit card number. A few days later, I received a call from someone in parts asking for my billing and shipping info. I could have just driven right back up there and dealt with them personally, but not wanting anymore drama, I gave him my info. I asked when I was to be contacted by the manager, and he said he had no clue. And when I called the next day to speak to the manager, I got the same answer, He is with a customer or He is busy at the moment. That is why I’m going over their heads and coming to you.All I wanted was my manual. I expected an apology from not only Nicholas, but also the manager. But I have yet to receive one. I came up to Hyundai as a customer, and was treated like a criminal. When in reality Nicholas ** is the criminal. He has been arrested for Grand Theft Auto, and was recently arrested for Family Violence charges (strangulation to Jessica), the charges for this recent one are still being processed. Nicholas has a temper and he hasn’t gotten over his separation from Jessica. He and his manager are giving Hyundai a bad name. I expected to be treated like everyone else, just a customer, personal life aside. My family does business with Hyundai and has for years. Its just a shame that a few people can change the way we view Hyundai. I need an apology.

When shopping around I was looking for a convenience features. Sonata Hybrid 2016 was slightly better than other midsize hybrid alternatives. Looked at all these reviews on Edmunds and similar websites. From their perspective it looks good. After one month of driving (and pretty good experience) main battery broke. Brought it to a dealership. It took already 2 days just to localize the problem. Accordingly to them it will take another 1-2 days to get an answer from Hyundai what needs to be done. This is a car on a warranty. What happens when its out. I feel Im screwed. This is a new car. Just started to pay for it.

I would like to state my utter disgust and anger at the horrible customer service I have received by Hyundai Consumer Affairs. The engine blew on my 2017 Hyundai Sonata over a week and a half ago. I had it towed to Bill Dube Hyundai in Wilmington, MA. I have been waiting ever since for someone, anyone, to give me answer as to when my car will be fixed. There has been absolutely no sense of urgency and zero care or consideration for me, the customer, who has been without a car for nearly 2 weeks. It is reprehensible that this much time has gone by and not a single person can even tell me WHEN I will get an answer. The case has even been escalated. But the person it was escalated to does not answer his phone and has a recording that he will call you back within 3-days. HOW IS THAT AN ESCALATION!!!!So now another week has gone by and Im without a car or answers. The person answering the 800 number at Consumer Affairs tells me hes going to send an alert message to Scott my case manager and if he doesnt get back to me today he should by Monday. This is the same response I got from the Bill Dube dealer last week. Well I waited until Monday, nobody called me and I still have no answers. When and if this ever comes to a conclusion I will certainly be sure to tell everyone I know and anyone who will listen to NEVER BUY A HYUNDAI. Hyundai does not back up their product or care about their customers. This is deplorable.

2008 Hyundai Sonata - I was driving to the coast and went to pass a vehicle and the gas pedal stuck, the brakes wouldnt work and lucky there were no cars and a empty field and I was driving in circles. Finally turned engine off and waited. Got out, checked car out, decided to start it back up, drive it a little ways. All was fine. It pissed me off. Hyundai took it in, looked at it, said they couldnt find a problem. That was a big problem but they say no issues. BS.

My 2013 Hyundai Veloster engine went bad for the 2nd time after six years.
My 2013 Hyundai Veloster engine went bad for the 2nd time after six years. The 1st time it was under warranty and it was replaced in five weeks and I received a rental vehicle paid by Hyundai. The 2nd engine failed two years after it was replaced and after a recall was completed at the dealership to correct an ignition issue that could damage the engine. It took ten weeks to replace the engine and I did not receive a rental or loaner car. Hyundai did replace the engine out of warranty but it is obvious that they know they have issues with this engine. Who has two engines go bad in six years? I picked up my car from the service department on a Friday and traded it in on a VW Saturday morning. I will never own a Hyundai ever again!

I currently own a 2005 Hyundai Sonata but decided to get a new car 2 years
I currently own a 2005 Hyundai Sonata but decided to get a new car 2 years ago. Not knowing what I really wanted, I decided to lease a new 2016 Hyundai Elantra GT. Prior to the end of the lease in January 2019, I received a letter from the dealership stating that they will cover termination fees, excess wear and tear, disposition fees and over mileage fees. I leased a new 2018 Hyundai Kona in August of 2018. To my surprise, I recently received a bill from Hyundai Motor Finance Company for over $1,300. I have made countless phone calls to both the dealership and finance company to no avail. The dealer says they have done everything they can and do not understand the charges, the finance company says that they are just going by my contract and here I am stuck in the middle with a bill. I ended up paying the balance for loss of sale, a term I heard only after turning in the car. The Hyundai Motor Finance Company has even charged me $65.00 a hubcap for curb rash; $260 just for hubcaps! When speaking with one of their representatives, she explained that they want the car back in the same condition I got it in; In other words, they do not accept normal wear and tear. They are a third party just like any other bank and really dont have anything to do with what dealerships tells me. Unless you are willing to read all the fine print in your contract at the dealership, which is kind of hard because all they really want is to have you walk away with a car, take the contract home and read it before you sign for after it has your signature, you are legally bound to its terms. Dont expect the dealership to explain to you important terms like loss of sale; the difference you are responsible for if the car is not sold at auction for a price that covers the remainder of the lease balance. Call the Lease End department before you turn in the car and arrange for a pre-inspection so you can fix everything at a fraction of the cost. I could have replaced all four hubcaps for less than $100. I now purchased the excess wear and tear insurance for the new vehicle; lets see how that goes?

Brakes, seat belt not retracting, overhead lights and dash door open light comes on intermittently and Bluetooth disconnects intermittently. On the first visit the service department could find nothing wrong with the car. On the second trip they fixed the drivers side rear brake but could not duplicate the other 3 issues. Then they said they could not warranty the items they could not duplicate. Car still has all the same issues and they will not return my phone calls. Very unprofessional!!!

If you are reading this - Please do not finance with this company. About 3 years ago, a mistake on their end (on their website) returned my payment. The excuse they gave me was we only had the last four digits of your account number and therefore could not process your payment. Well, the entire account number was there, but the digits in front were shown as Xs, so my account number looked like this - XXXXXXXXXXX-0000. When I explained to them this was the issue, they reversed the late fee. You would think after this that the company would fix the issue.Well, this happened again recently in the beginning of April (2014). I was given the same excuse. They reversed the fee. I then made another payment (for two months). I made sure the account number, routing number, and checking number were absolutely correct (even have an email confirmation with all the information on it). This payment didnt go through again, and this time they will not reverse the fee. I repeatedly asked them for the reason why the payment did not go through. First I was told insufficient funds. Then I was told only last four digits were available. Then I was told the account number was wrong. When I repeatedly asked them for what account number they were given for the returned payments, they said they didnt have it on file. So how do you know it was wrong if you cant even check it in the first place? After several emails and phone calls, and a phone call with a supervisor named John, they absolutely refused to waive the returned payment fee. After the first payment was returned in early April, Hyundai Motor Finance should have immediately told me if something went wrong with the second payment (instead of waiting to hit me with a late fee/returned payment fee). Nothing showed on their website until AFTER they hit me with yet another fee. This is a real shame since Im happy with Hyundai Motors of America and my local dealership. However, if the dealerships are urging people to finance with this company, they too should be held accountable for poor customer service. They are refusing to do anything further. This issue is not resolved. To everyone reading this, avoid financing with this company. They truly do not care about their customers.

I love the Remote Start feature that Hyundai Blue Link provides. I think its very overpriced. I also dont like that to get the Remote Start that I have to get the other packages which I dont use. It would be nice to just have the Remote Start feature. I also dont like that the max time for the vehicle to be started is only 10 minutes. It would be great for the customer to extend the timer beyond 10 minutes especially living in a cold climate state like I do. When the timer expires for the Remote Start, why dont you receive notification like you do when the vehicle is started. Also, I dont like it that it flashes the parking lights, they should give the option for the customer to turn off that feature or go to a solid parking light if so the customer chooses.I purchased a 2015 Hyundai Elantra and received the Remote Start package for a trial period. It was set up by the dealership. I didnt know why they needed my credit card information, I found out why. They auto billed my card after the trial period was over without notifying me. I asked why I wasnt notified and they didnt have an answer. I told them that I only wanted the Remote Start option and they said that I had to get the full package to get the Remote Start. Almost $300. I liked the Remote Start that much that I didnt cancel the service of which the Remote Start is the only thing I use.The next year, I purchased a 2016 Tuscon, same thing with the Elantra happened with the Tuscon. I called Blue Link and asked them to sync my two accounts, the agent told me she had done so. When I tried to start my 2015, the app prompted me to call Blue Link. They told me that the subscription on my Elantra was cancelled. I told them that I had another two months left before renewal, she verified that I was correct. I then asked her why was my service cancelled and she said she didnt know. She got a supervisor involved and he said the same thing.Granted, the 2015 is a Generation 1 vehicle and the 2016 is a Generation 2 vehicle which is two different departments. Why arent they combined, I dont know. I told them to turn on my service for the remaining two months that I have left on my subscription, they said they couldnt do that. They said I had to renew my yearly subscription. I asked them why because my service was not scheduled for renewal for two months and that it wasnt my fault that they screwed up. They said that their computers would not allow them to go in and turn on the service without the renewal of my yearly subscription. Being unsatisfied, I told them to renew my subscription which got prorated to the date that I purchased the vehicle. They told me that for my troubles that they would give me a discount on one of the packages one of my vehicles. They assured me that this mishap would not happen again.Which brings me to this years renewal, the so-called discount wasnt a discount, they extended one of the packages on one of my vehicles which knocked my packages out of sync, again. The sent me an E-mail stating that I would have to pay almost $20 a month for the next two months to aligned the packages. On the day that they were supposed to pull the money from my account, my Remote Start package was cancelled and when I called Blue Link, they said I had insufficient funds. Which I found ridiculous because I verified that I had several thousand dollars on that account. I even signed onto the Blue Link website to verify that the billing information was correct and it was. Besides, they had just taken out $297 from my account for my other vehicles renewal of which I wasnt notified. I asked them why I wasnt notified and again, they said that they didnt know and they were going to pass me onto their website department. They are currently investigating why I wasnt notified, I am not going to hold my breath for a response, lol. The agent asked what would it take for me to be a satisfied customer, I said, Free service, I knew that wouldnt fly. I asked her to turn on the service for the remainder of the two months I have left to sync my accounts, of course, just like the year prior, they said it couldnt be done and that I had to renew my yearly subscription. I didnt. I am so frustrated with Blue Link right now but I love their Remote Start feature. A few years ago, I tried to have Car Toys to put an aftermarket remote start system on my vehicle and they said that because the vehicle has a factory installed remote system on the vehicle that they couldnt do it. This was three years ago. I am going to revisit this option and see if it can be done. With the Remote Start feature I had on my other vehicle, it had way more features than Blue Link has and for cheaper. You figure with as much as they charge for the service that they would be one of the leaders in the game.I gave this review only 2 stars because I love the Remote Start otherwise it would be one star. I dont think Blue Link even cares about their customers, they know we have to use this service if we want it, especially being in a cold climate state. If they were smart, they would find a way to be able to modify the field to change the renewal date to maintain the subscribers they have right now. I will be looking for another car company where I can have more flexibility with this option. So it will be goodbye to Hyundai even though I like their vehicles. My Tucson was the 4th Hyundai I had purchased, yes, this is a deal breaker. If I can find a go around, I will. Thanks, Blue Link. Step up your game.

After having a 2016 Hyundai Veloster and having issues with oil consumption we are being told that due to sludge in the motor and supposedly we are needing a new motor that warranty will not cover a replacement and we are expected to be out of pocket $9400. This is absolutely ridiculous and was told by Consumer Affairs that there was no number for corporate who made the final decision to decline our case. Very unprofessional and no way to do business! This is the true definition of loophole! The car is still under the 100,000 or 10 year warranty!! I will be pursuing other resources and what I have to do about this! The ball was dropped and Hyundai doesnt care. They found a way out of doing the warranty work!

I took my 2009 Santa Fe to our local dealer for a leak in the factory-installed sunroof. The first time, they supposedly made adjustments to tighten the window down. The second time, they said the seal was bad and they had to order a new sunroof window. My question was why they didnt find this the first time. The third, they replaced the window. Now, this one leaks worse than the original. This has happened all in the last 3 weeks. I have no faith in the dealer that is doing the work. But since it is still in factory warranty, I am stuck. We have had nothing but trouble with this vehicle since we have purchased it. But we are stuck with this lemon for a little while longer.

I purchased a new 2013 Hyundai Elantra Limited - Black with Black Leather Interior with a 5 year warranty or 60,000 miles. I have 10,115 miles on the car. The car is driven by one driver only and no one has ever sat in the back seat. The back bench seat on the top part right under the head rest, the stitching is coming apart and you can see the foam now. Poor quality of thread. I live in Southern California where the weather is not harsh. The outside weather stripping is flopping in the wind on the back passenger door on passenger side. I took the car into be repaired by the Irvine Hyundai dealership and they saw no problems because I have a 5 year Interior Warranty. Well to our surprise the repairs were denied. The Irvine dealership recommended I put in a claim with the headquarters - Hyundai Customer Care Center which I did. The claim came back denied because they said it was caused by an outside environment. This is unacceptable. I have a warranty. I own 3 older Hondas with all leather seats and I have never ever had any problems with thread coming apart. I tried to discuss with my claims manager further and they refuse to talk to me. They told me the claim is final and closed.

Faulty Caliper Pins on 2012 Accent: Long story short, I had Merchants Tire
Faulty Caliper Pins on 2012 Accent: Long story short, I had Merchants Tire in Warrenton look at my brakes because of awful noise. They showed me the gouge in the rotor from where the brake pad wore because of a faulty caliper pin. They stated there should be no reason for this caliper pin to be broken and the pad to wear unevenly. They called Browns Manassas Hyundai and conferred with one of their mechanics. He also seemed to think it was a factory defect and under warranty. They suggested bringing it in and confirming the issue. I made an appointment for 3:30 the next day. At noon, they called and said the service station was closed and they set up an appointment at Fairfax Hyundai. I drove my car 45 miles out to Fairfax where I was treated like a stupid girl and spoken to as if I were an ignorant child. They said it would take at least 2 hours before they could look at it. I left with my ride and half way home, I received a call from the service department. They stated that the brake pads were worn evenly but needed changed, the rotors needed turned and there was absolutely nothing wrong with the calipers. It would cost around $400-$450 to fix. This completely contradicted Merchants (who have known me for the past 8 years). I am fed up with the runaround so I contacted a supervisor, Gustavo, at Hyundai Customer Service. He assured me that it sounded suspicious and he would call Fairfax. On my way back to picking up my car, which I instructed them NOT TO TOUCH, Fairfax Hyundai calls me to say, “It does seem to be a caliper issue but its just dirty and we can clean it. But you do need pads and rotors. We can fix it but it will cost you. I spent the last half hour trying to DIG the brake pad out of the rotor with a screw driver!” WHAT? A SCREW DRIVER DIGGING A BRAKE PAD OUT OF MY ROTOR? I was just told the rotors were fine, no scratches and worn evenly and now they are digging something out of them. I am beyond irate and disgusted. Going on 2 weeks now and car is still not fixed. On top of that, they are having to reimburse consumers because of the misquoted mpg.

Hyundai is an unethical company. I own a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. At 52,000 miles, we need a new transmission! What kind of car needs a new transmission at 52,000 miles?? The mechanic at the dealership even told us that we may have received a faulty transmission because they shouldnt need replacing at 52,000 miles. Our warranty was 2 months out of warranty so the dealership was optimistic that headquarters would still pay for the transmission and service because our car had such low miles and had so recently gone out of warranty. After the Hyundai dealership went back and forth with Hyundai headquarters, they told us they were unwilling to cover the cost of the transmission! The customer service was absolutely horrible. I have never had such a bad experience with a car company in my life. Hyundai should treat people more ethically instead of trying to squeeze me of every drop of money out of consumers they can.

I bought a used Hyundai Sonata 2011 in Oct. 2011. The previous owner had around 25,000 miles on it. I have changed the oil and also the brakes on the car since I have purchased it. It was running well with no problems (no indicator lights or warning lights ever came on), and of course there was no noise, just running as usual. I have put around 16,500 miles on it and no problem. On Dec. 22, 2012, it just wouldnt turn on, so I thought it was my battery. We asked for a boost but it still didnt work. I called Hyundai and stated they would get it towed in. That was on Dec. 24th. The tow company decided to give it a boost first to see if he could get it started but he also said the battery was too drained. I waited for a call from the mechanic and on Dec.26th, I was told he needed my authorization to change out the battery that it was no good. I asked if it was covered under my warranty with Hyundai or even the extended warranty I got. He stated no. So, I said replace it. The following day, I called for my car to get picked up and he states he needed to talk to me and said my car still didnt start and I would need a new engine due to no oil in the engine. He told me that the car looked like it had never been maintained, not once ever. I told him I did, but I didnt have the receipts to prove the oil changes. So he told the Hyundai Company that he denied the coverage due to neglect on the car. And I told him I also have an extended warranty which I told him to call. He didnt. I had too.I called a day later since he never called back to let me know anything. He stated my extended warranty wouldnt cover it either and I asked why. He stated it was because he denied the warranty due to neglect of the car. It’s funny when no lights or noises occurred without any indication that there could be something wrong, and all the extra coverage I got to avoid any problems. He states the problem could as well have been there from the previous owner and my bad luck I got stuck with it.

This car (2008 Hyundai Santa Fe) has had multiple recalls on it. Several of them major safety concerns. One of them (NHTSA #10058931) due to an engine valve leak causing oil to leak all over the alternator. (I lost all control, power, etc on Christmas Eve barely making it off the road into a parking lot, but not a space). They fixed the front valve with the recall, but now there is a second valve doing the same thing. Not part of the original recall (at least a $500 fix out of my pocket) that at this moment I will get to be responsible for. This doesnt include the previous issue with the ESC or the new BAD electrical problem that affects the stop lamp illumination (so no brake lights), the ESC and several other things (oh, and Hyundai hasnt notified me of this new recall yet, but Im definitely having the issue). It can also affect the shifter and allow your car (when on) to be taken out of park when the brake pedal isnt pressed. Ive been supremely disappointed in the timeliness of communications on recalls, the multitude of recalls and the lack of willingness to fix all problems (e.g. the gasket heads). Ive included pictures of some of the recall statements from the NHTSA, etc.

I am the original owner of my 2011 Hyundai Sonata. There has been recall after recall. In August of 2016, Hyundai completed the Campaign 143 Recall (Power Steering). Within a couple of weeks after, my steering wheel starting making clicking noises when I turned. Right after that, my air bag light came on. Shortly after, my steering wheel started shaking when I went over any bumps. Now it is so bad (the shaking) that my steering wheel acts like it is going to pop off of the car when I go over a speed bump! So between the clicking, air bag, and violent shaking, this car feels incredibly unsafe to drive!I called Hyundai and they asked, What exactly do you want us to do? I asked if there was a recall since thousands of people are having the same issue, and the customer service rep said, There is nothing regarding a recall for this issue. I am so fed up with Hyundai. Every time I get my car back from the dealership after a recall, something else happens. I take excellent care of my car and yet it comes back to me from the dealership worse than when I take it in. When will Hyundai finally issue a recall on this as it is clearly a Hyundai faulty part?

Now, three weeks later, we are still fighting to get that money returned to us. To top it off, because the credit for the car payment sat in the account so long and they didnt close the account because of the credit, they charged us account fees which they are now calling me at my office to collect. So they owe me $2000, which they dont seem to care about. But they are harassing me at work for $23.00, which I am told during every phone call is a mistake. We have the 2012 financed through them and have never been late. We even pay a little extra every month. In return, this is the treatment they give their customers. I have never seen such horrible service, apathy, lack of concern, and blatant disregard for the customer. I am disgusted with Hyundai Finance and will never deal with them again, even if this means this is the last Hyundai I ever purchase.

I had bought a New Hyundai I20 Era on 19th of June 2012 from M/S Advaith Motors Pvt Ltd, Bannerghatta Road, (Next to Spar), New # 1 to 5, Old # 44/1 A, Bangalore - 560076, +91-80-22966201/3. Immediately after one month of the Drive of around 400 KMS, the drum brake sound started. Since it was new car, I thought may be it needs to set or something. However after the first service I still have the same issues, then I realized it is real Problem. After that I had visited and asked them for replacement or fix of the brake system. They did some cleaning and then they gave it to me and it went fine for few days and again problem started. Now it is 3 times the Brake system has been replaced and then number of times it has been services, the brake problem persists.Due to the assurance given at the beginning of the problem by Service Manager in Advaith, I kept on going to them to fix the issues and then drive for few days and then go back again to fix the issues. Now after it was going to be one year, I raised complaint in May and then Brake was replaced to fix the issues saying that it is a service issue. However again the problem is still there. Yesterday I had Advaith Service personal visit and also see the same issues. I had driven around 10 KMS to show him the issue again and then they ask me now to bring again the Car to the Garage and then will see and fix the issue.Since I have been wasting my precious time of Visiting the garage and keeping my car in the garage for repair and replacement, I will no longer be able to do the same. I need a permanent solution. I even tried to sell the Car 2 Lakhs Less than the Amount within 7 Months of Buying due to this problem; however no one is ready to buy the car with Brake Problem. Due to the Brake issues if any thing accidental happens, Hyundai will be responsible for this. I have to use this car as I have to travel to office with the same only. I had already had minor accidents due to disturbance and also when I tried to avoid the sound. I had spent significant amounts of time and also money for this Problem, if not given permanent solution then I would not not hesitate to claim it too. So please let me know your feed back so that I can go to further Process of getting my rights.PS: I had call to the Customer Care today and they said I have to go to service center again and there is no solution other than that. And they also said complaint was raised them in May (after 11 Months) and so it is Service Issue. If I would have complained on the second month to this mail ID or Customer Care I think it would be better rather than going to the Distributor who always takes the ownership of the Product as to the Law. However now I am coming to you directly to have solution. Please let me know if you need scan copy of all the Receipts and Proof History of Break issues with Advaith Hyundai from the day it started. You can also refer the History of the Car. I am also posting a Registered Letter to the Corporate address.

Colonial Hyundai and Hyundai in general is one of the worst car companies I’ve ever dealt with. My Hyundai Tucson has been in the service department since March of 2021 to get the engine replaced on it and it STILL hasn’t been fixed! They gave me a downgrade of a rental car to drive and I was made to believe by the service worker (Kimberly) who is over my car that I would have my Tucson fixed in a couple weeks. Since then all I have gotten is nothing but LIES from her and the service department! They recently told me that it could take between the middle of July towards the beginning of August until my car is completed, which is utterly ridiculous! I’ve had 3 case managers since then trying to work on my behalf and they’ve checked for updates and somehow can’t really do anything to get my Tucson fixed any sooner. What’s even more disappointing is that Hyundai will not take full responsibility for their wrongdoing! I called to speak to the General Manager (Talal) of sales to discuss other options. I was suppose to meet with him last Saturday but had another obligation to come up and could not make it. I called to let him know and did not receive a call back. So I called again today so I could see when I could meet with him next but he wasn’t there. I left my contact information for him to call me back but I’ve noticed over time they will not call you back so you have to keep calling. As a customer, I’ve been treated like crap and as if my concerns don’t matter! They really could care less! Hyundai is an absolutely awful company!!!

I purchased a Hyundai Elantra Turbo back in September 2017. I have just recently been diagnosed with stage III colon cancer and have not worked for over a month and not sure when I will be getting back to work. I called the finance company for Hyundai and ask them if I could delay a few payments and add them onto the end of my lease. Their response was that there was nothing that they could do for me. I’m very disappointed! Upset! The way I feel right now if I could turn in my car and lease from another company that would have a little more compassion I would do it in a heartbeat! I will never buy another Hyundai based on this experience.

I am so dissatisfied. The kbb value of this car is horrible. They have fixed the transmission under warranty and will be fixing the engine, however who is to say that it wont happen again especially since they have no idea why the both blew in the first place. SO DISAPPOINTED IN THIS company.

I bought my 2011 Sonta in September 2011. From the very beginning I should have known something was not right. The car was fine but the people, sales people and financial staff leave something to be desired. My original quote was what I agreed upon but when they processed the paper work it appeared to have escalated in monthly payments amount of $80. I have been to the Fairfax Hyundai several times since then and have never walked away feeling as if I were taken care of or received what Hyundai says it would do with customer service. The last time I went in, the service person said that he would take care of me and ended up charging me for what should have been routine service and, they did a software upgrade recall that no one told me about. They charged me $400 and then, when I questioned the charges and showed them the work, they did they said they made a mistake but would not be able to refund the money and would give me a service credit. After a few calls to them and my credit card company, they refunded the amount to my account but did absolutely nothing to compensate me for the eventual charges I racked up due to their connivance.I now check regularly to see what the latest malady with this car just to make sure I am driving a somewhat safe vehicle. To be fair, the car has been great. It worked fine until I had to take it in to Fairfax Hyundai. The last incident my car just died on the road, really bad area for traffic. I had to call the police to run their lights to keep me from getting hit. Shout of to the City of Falls Church, VA and their police department. They were great. I have roadside assistance and they sent someone from Blairs towing (Alex) and he was great too. There was only a 20-30 minute waiting period. He towed my car to the dealership. Now, my wife had been talking to the service floor manager and he informed her that when I arrived I would get a loaner car. That never happened. She had to come pick me up from the shop. I am waiting to hear from them still now. They said they would call at 8 this morning. What can I do? I have no idea what to or how to take some sort of action that would make a significant impact on the way they service cars or people.

This is how they rope you in to buying their crummy cars “We have American’s best Warranty.” Don’t ever expect to use it though when you need it. They’ll do everything in their power to get out of having to pay to fix your car when something goes wrong. In my case, my whole electrical system fried within less than two years of having the car. Thinking I had “American’s Best Warranty” I thought, no big deal I’ll bring it in and they’ll fix it. Well, no, they tried to claim an animal chewed through my wires so it wasn’t covered by the warranty and I had to go through my insurance to have it fixed. Mind you, this is before I found out there was a class action lawsuit filed against this company for cars with unexpected engine and electrical failures and them failing to make repairs and weaseling their way out of them. They kept my car for 10 weeks trying to fix the issue and every time they fix one issue they would call back and say “oh turns out this is also wrong with your car because of the animal, you have to go through your insurance and put in another supplemental claim.” After 8,000 paid by my initial insurance claim and two supplemental claims of a 1000 a piece and a 500 deductible from me, they gave me back my car that still doesn’t work and still having electrical problems. Their response, we’ll diagnose the problem for 300 dollars to figure out what’s wrong with it now and now they want me to put in another supplemental claim due to another wire that was frayed due to “animal damage.” I can’t even trade the car in because no other dealer wants it due to all the problems and I still have 12,000 left to pay and a car that doesn’t function right.

In 2010 I leased a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. I had previously purchased a Hyundai and had decided to stay with the company because I feel customer loyalty goes a long way. In 2013 my lease was up, and I loved my first Sonata so much that I decided to lease another one! I went in a month before the lease ended to shop around. The sales person convinced me to participate in the pull ahead program. This program lets you terminate the lease early as long as you sign another lease. I was excited to be in a new car a month before I originally thought I would be! Although they didnt have exactly what I wanted, I left with a new lease that day. Fast forward to today, and Im still dealing with calls from debt collectors/Hyundais corporate office saying I owe payment for the last month on my previously leased car. Despite reassurance from the local dealership that I dont owe anything, the calls continue to come. Not only to my cell, but also to my work (Im an ICU RN). Getting notifications from my coworkers that I have a phone call from a debt collector is not only embarrassing and untrue, but it is distracting from my job! This whole ordeal has made it look like I dont pay my bills, bringing my character into question among my coworkers. Not to mention the stress it has caused my husband and I. We have spent so much of our time worrying about the possibility of this royal screw up by Hyundai ultimately affecting our credit, which we work very hard to keep in excellent standing. Im so frustrated with this that I just want to be done with Hyundai completely, but they refuse to work with me to get me out of my current lease! As much as I love my car I dont agree with the way they do business, and I feel taken advantage of and trapped. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy!

We bought this vehicle in the last week of December 2014 and got delivery on 2nd of January 2015. After couple of months the squeaking noise started from the sunroof. Went to dealership in March 2015 and they could not diagnose the problem. I went again after a week in March 2015 and they acknowledge the noise. They took the car and told me to pick it up at the end of the day. When I called them at the end of that day, they said, they do not have parts and it will take two weeks to get the parts.I called Hyundai Canada and talked to Customer Relation department. Their response was very cold and promised me to resolve the issue ASAP. Nothing happened for two weeks. Hyundai Canada also refused to give me a rental car as they said it is not a safety issue. But the dealership had taken the roof off and the car was not drivable. After many follow ups over the phone with Hyundai Canada, nothing happened. They continued promises without any outcome. They dealer said they have no control on parts. It took more than four weeks to receive the parts and finally in April they gave the car back to me.After driving for a week the squeaking noise started again. Went to dealership and they said that the mechanic who repaired the roof has gone to his home country and will not be available till the end of April 2015. I called Hyundai Canada and they gave no response. They said that they are sorry but there was no solution to the problem. I requested them to take the car back and give me a new one. They said Hyundai Canada do not have policy to buy back. Followed up with dealer many times with no positive response. In May went back to dealer and they did something to stop the noise. The noise stopped for a week and again started. Now the noise is so annoying that it is hard to concentrate on driving. I feel that I will meet with an accident as my attention is diverted due to noise.I have told Hyundai Canada and dealership that this piece is defective but they are not listening. I called dealership to look into this again and they have told me that they dont have a vehicle to lend and I am in waiting list. I called Hyundai Canada and spoke with Customer Relations and their response is the same as before. They continue to mention that they are sorry and trying to do their best to fix this. I am been trying to resolve this issue since last seven (7) months with no possible resolutions. I strongly feel that I am cheating and robbed. I am paying my car payments very regularly. We are middle class hardworking family and it is hard to meet ends. This is giving us lots of stress and anxiety which we do not want. We bought a brand new car to have peace of mind but this issue has taken all the peace away.I feel that as a consumer I have no rights and my hands are tight as Hyundai Canada and Dealership are playing games. On October 4, 2015 the speedometer blacked out, which is not showing the speed, fuel, fuel consumption, outside temperature, heating/cooling as well as the seat belt warning is showing. I called the dealer and they told me to bring the car on October 7th, 2015. They took the car and when I followed up with them at the end of the day on October 7, 2015, they informed me that the cluster (electronic part) has failed and they do not have the part. They will let me know when they will get it. Also they have taken apart the sunroof and for that they do not have the part. The service manager is telling me on Friday October 8, 2015 they still dont have the part. I followed up again on Friday October 9, 2015 and they didnt receive the part. The manager told me that he has no clue when the parts will come. The status is not showing as backorder as well. The Thanksgiving long weekend passed and I called the dealership on Tuesday October 13, 2015 in the afternoon to inquire for the status. The manager is telling me that they still are not aware of the status of the parts. He said, he will call me when they know the status of the parts, which after probing for many times, he said he cant tell me the exact day when the parts will arrive as the system is not showing anything. Also Hyundai Canada tells me that I am not entitled for a rental car as I have not bought the extended warranty??? The car remains with the dealer with no definite answer (October 19, 2015). Called Hyundai Canada and my calls were transferred to the voicemail for the customer relations. Waiting to hear from them.

Approx. 6 weeks ago, the brakes in my 2009 Sonata failed. I brought the car to my mechanic and he replaced the rear brakes. Two weeks later, the same thing happened. I had the front brakes replaced. Again, 2 weeks later, I slid through a red light because the brakes failed yet again. I had the car towed to the nearest Hyundai dealer. They informed me that they found nothing wrong with the brakes until I told them that I would not drive that car. So, they had better look again. Miraculously, 10 minutes later, they found that the caliper was broken and blamed it on the mechanic that replaced my brakes. So now, it was not under warranty. I paid the bill of $413.54 to replace the part. Not quite 2 weeks later, the car was making a very loud screeching sound -- like metal on metal. I had the car towed to the Nemet dealership where I originally purchased the vehicle. The mechanic, Jeff, told me that I needed new back brakes. When I tried to explain the entire situation, he did not want to hear it, and he told me that what happened at the other dealership did not matter, kind of like McDonalds is a chain of stores owned by different people, so is the Hyundai dealerships. He also informed me that I would be charged $625.00 to replace the back brakes again and if I did not want to pay, I should take the car back to the mechanic that did the brakes originally.I paid for a tow truck to take the car to Nemet, and again, to pick it up from Nemet to be brought to my mechanic. He replaced the left caliper that had already been replaced by Advantage Hyundai! That’s another $221.02 spent! I was livid, so I called Nemet and explained to the salesman what was going on again. He told me to bring the car into his dealership and when I got it back, they would work something out with me. On Saturday, 9/3 I, took the car to the Nemet dealership . Anthony, the salesman and the sales manager tried to put me in a smaller vehicle -- the Hyundai Elantra. I requested another down payment, and they wanted me to sign another 5 year payment plan! They informed me that my warranty had been voided when I took my car to a certified mechanic to have the brakes done and not to a Hyundai dealership. I was not looking to use my car a trade. I wanted to be treated fairly. Two years ago, I paid a down payment on a car that I thought would last me a good long time. Now, I find that this product is not backed by the company that sells it. This is the 3rd Hyundai I have purchased through Nemet.I do want a new vehicle that is comparable to the one I bought, not smaller. I already paid 2 years of a loan. Why should I have to start over when I have only 3 years left on a vehicle that is defective? I dont feel I should have to pay another down payment, or a higher monthly payment and I should not have to pay for more than 3 years!I called the dealership (Nemet) when I returned home and asked for the name of the CEO and was told that the CEO died. And then I requested to speak with the General Manager. She asked what was it in reference to and told me to hold on. She came back on the phone and asked for my name. When I told her who it was, all of a sudden Scott ** was unavailable to speak with me, when I know he was there for a meeting with his sales staff that morning because I had to wait for the sales person! The advertisement reads “our customers are number 1”. Really, when does that apply?

My Hyundai Accent is less than two years old and has traveled only 14,000 kms. At my last service in May I advised the service center that a hole has appeared in my drivers side floor mat. I thought this was unusual due to the low kms and the fact that I mainly drive in bare feet not big boots. A claim was initiated and I was advised that it was denied as it was wear and tear. I could accept this if I had done a lot of kms in the vehicle however only 14,000 kms is not satisfactory. I have over the years owned a number of cars of various brands and travelled in excess of 200,000 kms in most with no similar problems. Is the construction of Hyundais so CHEAP AND NASTY that a carpet will wear out in such a short time. I had intended in keeping the vehicle but now think ILL REPLACE IT WITH ANYTHING OTHER THAN A HYUNDAI.

I had problems with my vanity mirror on the passenger side, and the service manager of Doral Hyundai denied service, telling me it was the consequence of the normal use of the car. In reality, Hyundai advertises 60,000 miles and 5-year bumper to bumper. My 2008 Sonata was purchased in October 2007, and the odometer shows less than 23000 miles. I called the service attendants in headquarters, and they agreed with the service manager. This is a violation of the warranty, and Hyundai is lying in advertising the ten-year warranty, especially the 5-year bumper to bumper. If this response stands, every claim for service after one year can be considered product or the proper use of the car. If a compromise is not reached, I will never again consider Hyundai an option to buy a car.

I was a Hyundai customer for almost 15 years. I really liked my 2015 Genesis and was looking to get another Hyundai potentially upon turning in my lease. The dealership I leased from called me constantly to bring my car in early and told me I could get a better lease. I went into the dealership and they had nothing to offer me for a better lease that was close to the car I had and in fact they were quoting me a $150/month more for a lesser vehicle! Even after I left the dealership without a deal the same dealership kept calling me to come in as if they didnt know that I had gone there already. Terrible service! On top of all that, I tried returning my lease after finding a better deal and service at a Mazda dealership. All the local dealerships refused to take my car in at first! Finally, after a variety of different calls I was able to get the closest dealer to take my car in. Such a ridiculous process that I would probably not lease another Hyundai again.

Translation between the insurance and the customer service has been the most horrible experience ever. It should not take a month and more to fix this issue of a letter. I have to say, I made a huge mistake going with my tried and true Honda or Toyota. To save a few bucks off sticker I purchased a 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT. At about 60,000 miles, imagine just when the warranty really expires the car starts to stall when I start every once in a while, about every two months, finally the thing stalls in the middle of the highway. How pleasant that experience was. In any case I get towed to nearest Hyundai dealer who proceeds to charge me an upfront diagnostic fee. I have no choice but to pay to find out what is wrong. The manager of Hyundai dealer tells me I need all new spark plugs and ignition coils to the tune of $600 plus dollars. I tell him that this stall issue has been happening for a while. He says, Sorry you passed 60,000 miles. Its your fault you didnt bring to dealer sooner. I say, Ignition coil and plugs are supposed to last a minimum of 100,000 miles and you know Mr manager that the problem started well before I passed 60,000 miles, it didnt just wake up at 67,000 and drop dead. I said, Can you work with me? I will accept some responsibility, for not getting here earlier, lets split the cost. Manager says, No can do. GO to corporate and ask them.I do call corporate and go through the whole thing that these plugs and ignition coils did just break down overnight. I know I am 7,000 miles over the warranty but I feel because of your inferior parts caused the failure, is there anything you can do? The old lady at Corporate who I am speaking seemingly takes some pleasure in telling me basically to go pound sand. I go back to the dealer and explain how rude corporate was and not covering anything. Dealer says, That too bad but thats corporates decision not mine. I cant help you. So as a customer they make you go between the dealer and corporate. Corporate says not my fault ask dealer. Dealer says not my fault ask Corporate. Nice customer service, just a game. Finally I break down and ask the dealer to make the fix. At first they dont tell me that they need to only replace the ignition coil that is malfunctioning. They tell me all four have to be replaced. I happen to google it then ask if all 4 coils need to be replaced. Mgr says, Oh right just the one that is not working, that will save you money. Fine, I tell them to do the fix. Finally the car is supposedly fixed and I pay for it and get in start to drive away. To my astonishment now the car is ticking loudly. I cant believe it. Its worse. Anyway I now have to make another appointment to fix the new very loud engine ticking noise. I have not done so yet because I am going to trade the piece of junk in for a real car like a HONDA or a TOYOTA. Point is Hyundai makes cheaper crappy cars that may run for a bit then slowly break down. BTW the resale value of the Hyundai is horrible. Its pay me now or pay me later. Moral of the story you should pay a few thousand more for Honda or Toyota which is proven to last and has higher resale values. GOODBYE HYUNDAI.

When we first got our leases in 2016, we tried to set up auto withdrawal. My wife tried to set up auto pay and was told it was $30 a month. I told her she was wrong only to find out she wasnt. So my company chose to pay it. At the end of the lease we started to receive nasty messages saying we were behind on our payments. It turns out that Hyundai ceases auto withdrawal within two months of the lease end as standard procedure. Now that would be nice to know! So I had to make the payment and Western Union fee, who uses Western Union? No credit cards allowed. So I return the car to the dealer, but I still get bills in the mail. Call them again and they say I owe two payments. How can that be? I had already turned in the car! Turns out that the maturity date was the 18th and that was the date that I turned it in. OK so whats the problem? According to them the day that you turn in the car is the day before it matures and if you wait till the day that it matures, then you pay the next months payment! So its not a huge amount of money but Ill never use them again.

GC 2013 3.8 Track (Love Car cant say the same for Company) - On Saturday, April 16th, 2016 I went to Balise Hyundai to have my vehicle serviced and to address my concerns about the paint peeling on the front bumper near the hood of the car. I showed the peeling paint to the service advisor Phil ** who took pictures of my front bumper and stated that he would pass them along to the person who handles warranty claims. Phil explained that I would need to come back to Balise Hyundai during the week to have my concerns addressed. It is important to note taking time off during the week was not feasible during that time due to the structure of my current role and the responsibilities it entails. On Wednesday May 11th, 2016 I brought my vehicle to Balise Hyundai and showed the bumper to Bob ** (Service Director) who immediately began to tell me that my warranty didnt cover the damage and that it appeared as if the bumper was painted over or that something had spilled on it and therefore was not Hyundais responsibility to cover. Bob proceeded to take pictures while he instructed his co-worker Stephanie to gather some info on my vehicle. After a few minutes of both Bob and Stephanie examining my vehicle, I asked Stephanie to update me on what was being discussed. She stated that I was not under warranty for paint as my car was three years old. I told her that while my car was a 2013, I did not begin my lease until September of 2013. She then asked me about the mileage which I told her was less than 36,000 miles. Another 5 to 10 minutes of conversation with Bob yielded a plethora of biased assumptions that I found to be quite concerning. Bob ** insinuated I caused the damage to my vehicle. I left Balise Hyundai and then called Hyundai Motor America to report my warranty claim and ask questions. At that point, the integrity of Bob ** was in question and I was concerned that Bob would intentionally fail to submit the warranty claim and tell me it was not covered or submit the claim filled with biased narrative and minimal facts. I spoke with a Genesis representative named Christina (case #**) and she explained to me that she would look into it and contact Balise Hyundai to follow-up. Christina said she would call me back that day to update me however I never received a call. Later that day I was set to travel out of the country for two weeks. On Thursday, May 26th, 2016 I contacted Hyundai Motor America to follow up regarding my warranty claim. I explained that I had not heard from Bob or Stephanie about next steps. On Friday, May 27th, 2016 I received a call from Stephanie who left a voicemail stating that Hyundai wanted me to take my vehicle to the Balise repair shop to get an estimate of the damage. Upon hearing the message left by Stephanie I called her back and was unable to speak to her directly. I left a detailed voicemail inquiring about the arrangement of a specific date/time to bring the car for an estimate. Stephanie never responded to my message. On Saturday, June 4th, 2016 I brought the vehicle to Balise to get the estimate and was told that the repair shop is only open during the week. I spoke with General Manager Brian ** who told me to email him pictures of the paint concerns and that he would get an estimate for me on Monday and send me the quote. (See attached photos) On Tuesday, June 7th, 2016 Brian emailed me stating that a rep is coming today and will see if he approves the work. Estimate is $1,300. On Wednesday, June 8th, 2016 I emailed Brian back and ask him if the rep would be calling me directly to let me know the decision concerning my car. Brian emailed me back informing me that it was decided that my hood would not be covered but that the decision to repaint the bumper hadnt been made yet. On Friday, June 10th, 2016 I emailed Brian to find out how long it would be to determine if my bumper was going to be covered under warranty. He replied back confirming it would be 7 to 10 business days. On Tuesday, June 21st, 2016 I emailed Brian seeking an update on the pending situation. I received no reply. On Wednesday, June 29th, 2016 I receive a voicemail from Bob ** stating that he wanted me to return his call because Consumer Affairs wanted a factory rep to look at my vehicle. He also stated the rep would be at Balise on Thursday (the very next day). I called Bob back to arrange the time for the factory rep to see my vehicle. I explained to Bob that I worked and that he was giving me very short notice. I asked if I could schedule something for Friday or the week after and Bob told me that the Factory rep only comes once a month and that if I didnt come tomorrow (Thursday) it would be next month before another meeting could be arranged. On Thursday, June 30th, 2016 I arrived at Balise at approximately 7:30 am which was the agreed time slot. This time was chosen as it was early enough for business to be handled and ensured Id make it to work on time. The factory rep showed up after 7:30 am and while I sat in the waiting area Bob failed to inform me that the factory rep arrived. At around 7:50 am I went to find Bob to inquire about the factory rep. That is when I was informed that Loi **, Eastern Region District Parts & Service Manager was already looking at my car. When I approached Loi he informed me that he was checking to see if there was any report of an accident concerning my car. After a few minutes, Loi approached me and told me that the bumper damage was going to be covered but not the chipped paint on the hood of the car. I was then instructed to go to the Balise repair shop and schedule a date to have my car brought in for repair. I followed those instructions and spoke with the Collision Repair Manager, Tim **. We agreed to have the bumper painted on July 11th, 2016 and he told me that it would take two days.On Monday, July 11th, 2016 I brought my car to Balise repair. To my surprise, I then had to rent a car from Enterprise because Balise Hyundai stated that they didnt have any loaners. They also informed me that even if they did have loaners, it would cost me. Over the course of two days, it cost me $60 to rent the car from Enterprise. On July 13th, 2016 I returned to Balise to pick up my car but was told that it was not ready. I was then left to rent a vehicle for another day. For my inconvenience, Jim ** who works for Balise Collision Repair agreed to cover the rental cost for that day.On July 14th, 2016 I returned to Balise to pick-up my car and was astonished by what I saw. I spoke with Balise Collision Repair Appraiser, Jesse ** about the fact that the color of the bumper that was painted did not match the color of the rest of the vehicle! During my conversation with Jesse, he informed me that prior to beginning the paint job he called over to Bob ** and asked about blending the paint into the hood and the fender to prevent the noticeable color difference. He was told by Bob to only paint the bumper. Jesse explained to me that the color difference was typical with the type of paint on my car and that during most repairs to assure that the color matches the other parts of the car they blend into the other areas. (See attached photos)I havent yet heard about whether or not I will be reimbursed or receive credit towards my monthly payment. When I followed-up with Hyundai Motor Finance about my situation was I essential told sorry for your troubles. You still must pay your monthly bill and if we dont receive payment we will repo your car. It will be auctioned and all accrued expenses will be your responsibility. Moral of this story: Dont buy Hyundai as their Customer Service is horrible and they dont care about loyal customers.

I purchased my third Sonata, a 2012, just four months ago. I purchased my first two from a dealership near my home in Houston but my third Sonata was purchased in Baytown, Tx. After only a little over 4000 miles, this Sonata left me stranded in Austin, Texas with what I was told was a failed wheel bearing. Fortunately, the wheel did not come off and I made it to a safe area. I felt that being a loyal Hyundai consumer, that Hyundai would help to address this (now third issue) with my car. The car had to go in for service for a back brake plate rubbing against the rotor the first week of ownership.I am having great difficulty getting anyone at Hyundai or the dealership to acknowledge that this Sonata has inherent issues that would warrant replacement of the vehicle. I no longer have confidence or feel safe driving this car. I even question as to whether I might have been sold a car that was unsafe to drive. When the car was towed to the dealership in Austin for repair, they first told me that they did not know for certain what was wrong with it - only that it was something serious and I would be encouraged not to drive it even across town. Many assurances of help and complete satisfaction - and none followed though.

I bought my car in October 2011. I have been so far 13 times at the dealership, one of them being over a month because the chassis broke! I havent complained until today because my steering wheel started ripping apart due to the humidity. I went to the dealer for it to be replaced and Hyundai Canada apparently only replaces the steering wheel with the older model being the silver trim. Moreover, the trim was already damaged. I have the dark silver. I mean really Hyundai ran out of the dark silver trim steering wheel. So I asked them to put back my old steering wheel even though it is ripped. In one week I am going to see them again for a drive axle problem and re-install my old steering wheel.

24 hours after purchasing a 2006 Hyundia Tiburon from AR Motorsports, the vehicle would not shift. I brought it to my local mechanic, since I live 140 miles from the car lot. It was believed to be in need of a new clutch, which we authorized to be done. After further investigation, the mechanic realized that it was in fact a transmission failure with the clutch in satisfactory condition. It took the mechanic 6.5 hours and three additional helpers with crow bars to get the transmission apart from the engine. It was stated that the throwout bearing had welded itself to the output shaft, which in turn caused it to come apart, not allowing the pressure plate to move. Therefore, the vehicle would not properly shift into gear. Once Mr. ** was notified of the issue, he stated that it would be covered under warranty. On the 8th day, the vehicle was in the repair facility. The work was finally completed, and the total was $835.11. Mr. ** called back and stated that since it was a standard clutch replacement (maintenance) issue, the owner had decided not to cover the repairs. This vehicle was purchased with a 6-month/6,000-mile powertrain warranty.

My brand new 2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.4L GLS engine blew up at 18,000 miles on
My brand new 2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.4L GLS engine blew up at 18,000 miles on I-10, 670 miles from our home. We had the car fully serviced prior to our trip, 10 days to be exact. This was the second long, distant road trip with this new car. We almost lost our lives. What saved us was an exit we were approaching at the time and experience driving. It sounded like parts were flying in every direction. This story would not have gotten out, if we were dead. But, we are alive, well, and ready to tell the world our story. Upset and confused at that moment the car stopped, we just could not believe that a brand-new car would blow an engine. We called the Hyundai consumer care department for help. We were interrogated before they asked me, Where is your exact location? My cell phone battery could have died before they got our location. You would think that in this day where computers rule the day, all the information would flash before them after we gave them the ID of the vehicle and name of the people calling would be sufficient to start the ball rolling. No! She asked for my ID then my driver license, then the ID of the vehicle, then the registration. I had to stop her and asked, Would you like to know where we are? While you locate someone close by to pick us up, you could get all the information you want as we wait. She said yes. We had someone there who stopped to help that was on their way to work and were waiting to give the exact location where the car stopped. Once that ended, it took about an hour for the tow truck to arrive. The tow truck towed the vehicle to the nearest Hyundai dealership close by, 15 miles away. The dealer service manager looked at the car and determined the engine must be replaced. He called to order a new engine. The engine for 2011 Sonata 2.4L GLS was second or third in line on the back-order list. Not knowing how long it would take to fix, instead of giving us a loaner or a new car to continue on our way, the dealership sent us to rent a car. That was it. We were back on the road, hoping the Hyundai Motor Corp. had our backs. You know, Hyundai Assurance Policy and all that went wrong will be right again. They spent more money penny pinching than it was worth. Good business sense is to always satisfy your customers. I was so very wrong about Hyundai Motors Inc.After the dealership got us back on the road, we were forgotten. No one from Hyundai Motors called to see if we were okay and to investigate about one of their new car engine failing like that. We had to initiate the call again. At our first call, we were given a claims number that we use to reference on our second and third call. No one at the consumer care department could make the connection to us with that assigned claims number. We had to explain our dilemma five times to five different people at the customer care office before I demanded to speak to a supervisor. Every one I call lied to me, promising me that they would personally investigate the matter and get back to me the same day or the next. They did not. At this point, I could see that I was in for a rough ride. This went on for 42 days after the engine blew up. It suddenly occurred to me - wait a minute, did they say I was third in line for that same type engine? Then others must be having the same problem! I started my own investigation, and I was not only sad but worried that I was not going to get any help from Hyundai Motors. All the complaints and reports I found on the internet made me angry that all this information was not in the media sooner to alert people like me and my wife before they took a bite of that rotten, pretty, shiny apple. I contacted the Better Business Bureau to force Hyundai to take the car back, because we were afraid to take it on the road again. We succeeded. But we lost, because we had to go buy another vehicle. We traded a perfectly good car that was paid in full for the 2011 Hyundai Sonata. I was disappointed. I did not find a recall on that engine type. My opinion, of an old mechanic, this engine is a time bomb.

After 76,000 miles I experienced a catastrophic engine failure in my 2011 Sonata Turbo 2.0. The Hyundai service department that the car was towed to said they did not know why this happened. After considering the warranty, it was determined that the engine would be replaced. The second motor was installed and the first time it was cranked, it was determined that the engine failed. A third engine was then installed. At about 10,000 miles on the 3rd engine, the exact same catastrophic engine failure occurred. I learned that Hyundai had previously installed a re-manufactured motor (the third engine) instead of a new long block. I am now waiting to hear if the warranty is even going to cover the 4th engine replacement.I am researching information on Texas Lemon Law to see if this would qualify; my novice experience would say YES but I am horrified to read the other experiences on this website. I would like to think Hyundai is going to try and make this right for me, but I have my doubts. To say the least, I will never purchase another Hyundai. It is disappointing because up until now, I had enjoyed the way the car drove, handled, and how efficient the eco-boost was on fuel.
