FAULTY IGNITION
It’s a bummer when you’re ready to hit the trails and your ATV won’t startup. The first thing you’ll assume when the motor won’t start is that you have a drained battery. But what if you’ve recently replaced the battery, or tested it?
Typically with fuel-powered motors, you’ll need a spark to get your ATV running. If your ATV motor turns over, but won’t start—and the battery is fine—Chances are, the issue is with your ignition system.
Your first step in troubleshooting this issue is checking out your sparkplugs. Look for any gunk or dirt corrosion on each plug. If you have one or more plugs that look severely worn out, then it’s time to replace them. You should also use a multimeter to test the plugs out for present sparks.
Ideally, you’ll want to replace your sparkplugs every 100 hours of use.
If your spark plugs are fine, they could be another component in your ignition system. This would include your ignition coil or your capacitor discharge ignition (CDI). Of course, if these parts were to go bad, you would most likely be experiencing other symptoms such as misfiring.
It’s also rare that your engine coils and CDI will go bad, but in the event that they do, they’ll need to be replaced. Remember to always refer to your owner’s manual for the best methods to troubleshoot any electrical issues in your engine.
DIRTY FILTERS
Your ATV getting covered in mud and debris is inevitable. But if you’re not careful, your air filter could get clogged.
If you’re noticing a rough startup, poor performance, and poor fuel efficiency in your ATV, it could be a sign of a dirty or clogged air filter. Fortunately, this isn’t an intense ATV repair. In most cases, you can get away with cleaning your air filter rather than replacing it.
But remember, if you let your air filter gets clogged up without cleaning or replacing it, it could seriously damage your engine.
ENGINE SYSTEM
Troubleshooting engine system issues can get pretty complicated. Your ATV’s engine is composed of a lot of moving and electrical parts.
Symptoms like stalling out or sluggishness can indicate something as simple as a clog somewhere. However, that clog could be in your air filter or your exhaust. It could also be an indicator of clogged fuel lines or over-fueling, which can cause the carburetors to flood.
There are also a lot of problems that have similar symptoms. If you’re not familiar with engines, it’s even harder to diagnose the problems. Your best bet would be to get these ATV repairs done by a trusted mechanic.
BATTERY POWER
If your ATV isn’t turning over when the ignition is engaged, or your startup seems to be on the sluggish side, it’s a good indicator that your battery may be low.
On the plus side, batteries are one of the easiest of all ATV repairs. All you have to do to troubleshoot this issue is to use your multimeter to check the battery voltage. If the output reads below 12 volts, then it’s time to recharge the battery.
You can recharge your battery by hooking it up to alligator clips and a battery booster. If your battery fails to charge or loses its charge quickly, then it’s time to replace the battery completely.
CRACKED CV BOOTS
The constant velocity (CV) boots on your ATV protect its axle shaft joints from dirt and debris. Over time, these boots will crack from the wear and tear that comes with offroading.
When your CV boots crack—and they will eventually—all of their lubricating greases will become exposed to outside debris. Anything that gets into your CV boot can severely damage the metal joint inside, leading to more expensive ATV parts and repair.
Aside from a grease leak, when your CV boots crack, you’ll also notice vibrations from the CV axle. The vibrations come from moisture and debris coming in contact with the metal joint. A more serious symptom is when you hear a clicking noise while turning. This indicates that the joint is completely worn out, and play has developed.
To prevent things from getting too far, it’s a good idea to check your CV boots before and after each ride consistently.

Dead or Drained Battery
One of the most common issues that can cause starting problems is a dead or nearly dead car battery. Fortunately, this is a simple issue to detect and fix. A bad battery usually results in a host of problems, depending on how drained the battery is. To tell if the problem is your battery, look at your headlights or turn on your inside overhead light. If they won't turn on or are not as bright as usual, you may have a dead battery. Try turning on your windshield wipers. If the wipers move back and forth but very slowly, then you only have a drained battery.
1. Gather up your jumper cables, and make sure a good, running car is nearby.
2. Connect the red clip on one of the cables to the red battery terminal on one of the cars. Repeat with the other red clip and red battery terminal on the other car.
3. Connect the black clip to the black terminal on the other car's battery. Connect the other black clip to some unpainted metal nearby.
4. Start the other vehicle, allowing it to run for about five minutes.
5. Start your car.
6. Let your car run for a while to recharge the battery. If your engine is less than three years old, it should charge back up fine. However, if it's an older battery then it may not properly charge, and you should replace the battery with a new one just to be safe.
Malfunctioning Ignition System
Sometimes the ignition itself may malfunction. The steering lock mechanism can jam, or the ignition lock mechanism may break. Also, on newer vehicles, the system needs to be able to recognize the key electronically. You insert your key, but you can't even turn it in the ignition. The car refuses to start.
1. First, make sure your vehicle is in park.
2. Double-check your key. If you drive more than one vehicle, you may have inadvertently mixed them up on your keychain. Also, be sure you aren't using the valet key.
3. Next, try using a spare key, since key wear can keep the key from turning the ignition.
4. If you can't even turn the ignition, try to wiggle the steering wheel to see if it unlocks.
5. Finally, take your car to the mechanic if none of these solutions works. You may need a new ignition system.
Clogged Air Filter
For an engine to start properly it needs a precise combination of fuel and air. This balance may be disturbed due to a clogged air filter. When you turn the key, the engine acts like it wants to start. However, it does not.
1. You can find the air filter just to the right and in the front of most engines. It's usually a large black box with a big plastic tubing on the front and back.
2. Most air filters are held closed by screws along the lip. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws and open the box to check the white filter.
3. If the filter is very dirty, replace it.
4. If you can't get to a parts store, try tapping the filter on a wall or a driveway to get rid of as much dirt as possible.
5. Replace the air filter and try starting the car again.
Broken Belt
Sometimes the engine won't start because you broke a belt and didn't realize it. You can check the belts yourself, but you'll need a professional to help install a new one. The car tries to start but can't. You may hear a whining noise, but the engine won't turn over.
1. Open the hood.
2. Carefully search around the engine for all of the round pulley wheels where the belts are normally attached. Each one should have a belt wrapped around it.
3. Make note of any that have a lot of cracks and wear. Plan to have a mechanic replace any damaged pulley wheels. If you find one completely missing a belt, that's most likely why your engine won't start.
4. Call a tow truck and have a professional replace the belt.
Bad or Loose Spark Plugs
One of the most difficult problems to diagnose when an engine won't start, or when it starts but coughs or runs erratically, is the electrical system. This type of problem is often, but not always, related to the spark plugs. When you try to start the car, it sputters but refuses to turn over. It may start but then stall out right away.
1. Wait until night when it's very dark outside, or drive the car into a dark place. (However, never start the car inside a closed-in space as carbon monoxide poisoning can cause death).
2. Open the hood.
3. Stand in front of the engine with a flashlight while you have a friend turn on the ignition.
4. Turn off the flashlight and watch the engine closely. If you can see very small sparks coming from the plug wires, then you know that you just need a tune-up.

Confirm There’s Gas in the Tank
A basic pre-trip check is seeing whether you have gas in the tank, but it’s something riders tend to overlook. Especially if your gas gauge reports a full tank, you might not think to check. Keep in mind that gauges can malfunction, so consider jostling your bike and listening for the slosh of gas in the tank before jumping to other potential problems.
If you can confirm there’s gasoline in your bike, see if the fuel pump is operational (if the motorcycle has one), and if there’s a carburetor, see if there’s gas making its way there, too.
Engage the Clutch
It’s usually a no-brainer for experienced riders, but for newbies, remembering to engage the clutch can mean the difference between a relaxing ride and a frustrating trip to the shop. Many bikes must have the clutch in before they will start—even when you’re in neutral.
There’s also the possibility that your bike’s clutch switch has been damaged, and you can try “pumping” the clutch a few times to see if that helps reset it. You can get around the clutch switch, but long term, you’ll need another solution (and probably a clutch replacement).
Look for Loose Wires
Another seeming no-brainer is checking electrical connectors to see that everything is plugged in. Electrical issues often escape riders because they aren’t always visible, but manually checking the connectors can help you spot a problem that wouldn’t otherwise reveal itself.
If you suspect something other than the battery is the culprit, especially if you’ve just swapped the battery for a new one, it’s also worth looking at your battery connector cables. It’s possible your new battery’s wiring is incorrect, making your non-start a quick fix once you tighten the cables to the terminals.
See if the Fuel Injection System is Functional
Fuel injection systems are tricky to deal with, which makes it challenging to determine whether your bike is having injector issues or another problem. But since fuel injectors very rarely fail, experts suggest a pump failure is more likely.
Check to see if you can hear the pump running when you try to start the bike—if not, you can check the pump fuse. Apart from these preliminary investigations, you will likely need to see a professional to confirm whether the FI system is the culprit.
Check for Blown Fuses
Just like a car or truck, motorcycles have fuses, and they can blow the same as in any other vehicle. Keeping a fuse kit on hand is helpful so you can replace any blown fuses with one that has the same amperage.
If fuses continue to blow after you replace them, you likely have a more serious electrical issue somewhere in the bike’s wiring.
Confirm the Kill Switch is Off
Not every rider uses their kill switch with regularity, but if you have used it recently, it’s possible the engine cutoff switch is still activated. Either that or someone else flicked it, or you did it by accident—either way, it’s worth a quick glimpse, as the switch remaining in the on position will prevent the motorcycle from starting.
Ensure the Fuel Valve is Set to “On”
For motorcycles with fuel valves (read: non-fuel injected models), having the setting in the wrong place can keep your bike from starting up. Make sure the fuel valve is turned to the “on” position and be patient for a few seconds until the carburetor float bowls fill.

My 2001 Honda Passport was less than 98,000 miles (**) and I always kept-up with the care and maintenance of my car. I did the timing belt on it by myself. Change oil and anything that my car needed, I would fix it myself. So the speed meter and the gas gauge stopped working, and I told my wife it looks like the car will need a computer. So June 12, 2012, I had South Motors Honda put in a new computer and that fixed the problems. We paid $901.97. April 15, 2012 they wrote it on their computer that the serpentine belt was next and needed a fix. The serpentine belt broke and they had it fixed ($829.04). May 24, 2012 my wife brought the car in because of a tiny oil leak, so they would need to keep the car for a week to replace the oil pan gasket. And on their computer, it never said we would need on the next repair a motor because the person that removed the oil to fix the oil leak (the oil pan gasket, they had to take it off and put a new one on) never added the oil back to the motor and we paid $744.04. So my wife had to pick up the car because I had to return the rental back. As I walk back to South Motors, my wife was so mad because now she hears what are a sound from inside of the motor and a sound of a knock.While they were gone, I opened the hood and checked the oil and nothing was touching the stick. As I close the hood, the tech came and drove our car in to his shop in the back, away from us; and they got mad because I needed to keep my eye on my car. So the tech adds 5 quarts of oil and drove it back around to the service advisor and he said ok, everything is fixed; and the tech fixed the oil leaks. As we started it out, the rods were knocking badly. The service advisor Allen did not write down on the computer at South Motors, like he did everything else, about the motor that’s next for repair. Allen said that after the car leaves South Motors, there is nothing that they can do and its not their problem if it needs a new motor. Allen did say the motor needs to be replaced but not by South Motors. They are not giving me a free motor. This came from Allen and the shop manager. The shop manager did say we spent a lot of money on my car and “Our techs dont let a car leave without any oil and it sounds like youre trying to get a free motor. That’s not going to happen.” I saw the oil stick and saw no oil; and on this specific item (remove the old oil pan gasket and add a new one), you have to drain the oil to fix this leak. You have to replace the oil back in the motor.I think they need to buy me a new motor or write me a check for $5,800 - end of story. You dont have to make this look bad, just mail me a check for $5800.Thanks to the internet for letting me post this. The bad thing is this South Motor Honda. When you do something bad to people, it comes back around. I have talked to a painter and we have talked about making a huge sign about South Motors Honda and write what a great job you do and how many have you scammed like me. We’ll write it in Spanish, too; so when my Honda Passport is parked at the mall, people can read it and find out the truth. Its going to be readable on both sides, so 1000s can read it. You can read it at the mall at school; even at red lights from behind, you can still read how great your scamming of people is. So we have gotten with DOT and DMV to see just what we can cover up; no lights and no tag can be covered, so this sign is where you can read it and be ok with the laws. If nothing else, we dont need signs; he can paint what we need to write it on the Passport.I dont see any other way out, other than paying the owner for his time waiting for his car not to get fixed and renting rental cars all paid out by him. He thinks you owe him a lot more than $5800. Look if he has the money to get these types of repair done and paying for them (and gets treated like this). This man has a family and works, and he thinks you’re giving him the short end of the stick. South Motors needs to stop this by paying him off before he starts, and he has flyers printed by the 1000s. I think you need to pay him with a car and $5800. That’s his car he took care of and he feels he trusted you and you did pooh on him. He trusted you to fix his computer on his car and he paid then it is something else. And then… Ok, money is coming. He is paying $600-$1000 to $1800-$2000. Let’s drain his oil out so we can get him to buy a brand new motor and tell the manager to side with whatever they have to say. Then after we do this, we can get him for more stuff. Look at what all he paid and walk around and laugh at how dumb he is. And just maybe, we play our cards right; we cannot add oil. At some point, we will get him again. He is mad now and we will get him again for being mad or making us do more work. Being a problem to us, we will teach our advisor using 4 letter words. Hey, its ok. We will have him eating out of the palm of our hands and have him come in for little stuff to have us fix on his Passport.So what happened is that the service advisor saw the serpentine belt was broken and needed to be replaced and added that the timing belt may need to be replaced. But he was so worked up about my fine wife that he did or would not hear me telling him this old boy had already put a new timing belt on. He was watching my wife walk around and asked her in a putting me down kind of way, and they would go ahead and change the timing belt. So, I got mad and showed my butt because I did all the work on that change and he would not let me talk or give me the time of the day - too busy looking and not learning about the problems that my car was having. They got mad after removing and finding out everything with the timing belt is brand new. Then, he wanted my wife to walk around and act as if he and she was cock of the walk and try to belittle me. My wife loves me and I trust her. She’s the type of person that reads a person for what theyre worth and she has stood in the heat for what is right, not sides or color or how big he wants to act. So this not putting oil in the car, this Allen guy being a jerk, and the manager buying and standing by Allen’s stories, the manager’s people do no harm and his techs do not leave cars without oil… I am a customer and I have a clue why they would belittle me and remove the oil from my car that’s paid for. I need a check for $5800. I dont trust them with a carton of eggs. They have burned me badly and I cant trust them to replace my motor with a new one that they can clean up junk and try to pass it off as a new motor. I can trust green bills in the amount of $5800. All the waiting with my baby and waiting for our car all day to get fixed was just a part of their games.
I plan to buy out a lease and was informed by the dealer that Honda Canada requires a safety inspection and I have to pay for the inspection. My question is why the customer is responsible to pay. I think Honda Canada is the party who are suppose to make sure the vehicle is safe when selling to people. I called Honda Canada. The representative did not have a good reason except saying repeated that the dealer has advised me correctly and it is in the contract. I describe the representative acted somewhat professional, but definitely not friendly.
I have a Honda Accord year 2014 version. I bought it during December 2014. All this while I trust Honda quality. I am its fan. However after 1 year of using the Honda Accord, an abnormal irritating noise coming out from the back, around the door, speaker and car boot area. I had send the car to authorize service center for 3 times, however still not able to solve. The irritating noise is getting louder... Everyday early morning while driving the car, the noise spoil my mood. It is testing my patience. With this issue, I am not happy and disappointed with Honda quality. It is in fact worst than a cheap car for the fitness (noise) condition. I am still looking forward for Honda to solve the irritating noise soonest possible. Besides the irritating noise, recently I encounter the wind screen having a few crack mark at the edge. Input from the tinting service provider it is due to the paint peel off. Really unbelievable that Honda can produce this type of quality level. The price of the car paid is really not meeting my expectation on its quality. Just wonder if Honda looks into the user experience and expectation when developing its products.
On Jan 2, 2012, I went to Valley Honda in Monroeville to purchase windshield wipers. When I went to pay for the repairs, I discovered that I did not have my wallet. I went out to my car to look for it because I thought maybe I left it inside. After discovering it was not there, I called my brothers office because I had just left his business, to see if I had left it there. He called me back and informed me that it was not there. The service person took me to a customer service agent named Anita ** to see if she would approve me going home to get the money and then return to pay my bill. She stated that she could not approve my request and it must be done by someone else. The service agent left to find a manager. Ms. Anita stated to me that this type of request is never approved. I replied to her that they would have to do something because I did not have any money on me. In response, she stated to me, Well, you knew that you did not have any money when you came in here. I was shocked at her statement. I reminded her that I lost my wallet and was quite distraught about that and asked her how she could make a statement like that to me. Without even looking at me, she replied with the most nonchalant and cold response, “Well, I apologize. I guess I was out of line. I was so upset that I only responded by saying to her, “You certainly were out of line.” I am 67 years old and have never experienced this type of careless response from someone. I called Mr. Jim ** twice to speak with him regarding this incident, but was unable to do so. My brother who is also a car dealer called to speak to Mr. Jim ** and also left messages for him to call. He did not return any calls. I feel that this statement was made to me because I am Afro-American.
I purchased two cars over the last 6 months, and 5 in the last few years. Not to mention all the people I have sent to Dublin Honda over the last 10 years. I have never been so resentful and betrayed after my last purchase at Dublin Honda, Dublin CA. I trusted them, which of course was my first mistake and my second was not taking care of this immediately. But over the last few months Ive lost my dad. My dog who is only 2 was diagnosed with congenital kidney failure. She is an English Bulldog and the breeder is facing 10 yrs in prison. Ive had to be out of town often lately and in fact the night I purchased this Acura I was leaving town for 3 wks so I purchased at night, then very early the next morning I simply parked it at the airport and didnt have a chance to really view all the things wrong until later. I contacted Steve ** whom is the GM and in charge of the dealership. He gave me the impression that he was going to work with me, and help me to resolve the issues I have with the car I was sold. But upon meeting with him (He told his employees he had to leave for an ER) however when I saw him he indicated he was just about to leave. I told him everything I was concerned about and he said there was nothing he could do. He asked me why I traded in the brand new 2015 Honda Civic I purchased a month before!!! Why is this relevant??? I had the car inspected and it has been found to have so many issues. I couldnt get 14k for the car two months after I purchased it. I spent 20k in CASH. I was told the car had one owner, was in mint condition and so on. The tires are the cheapest worst rated tires on the market, definitely not made for an Acura. The floor has large holes where something has rusted/eaten away at the carpet and left holes. The windshield has a crack. I was given only one broken key, no floor-mats. There are scratches all over that have been painted with a paint pen, dents on quarter panel, front under license plate, frayed leather seats, scratched rims. (ONLY A 4 CYLINDER) I was told it was a V6. I will forward pictures of all the damage and also know I contacted the salesperson a few days after I purchased and told him about the scratches and dents. I think the worst part of this entire situation is how badly Steve ** has treated me. This is after 10 yrs of loyal dedication to the dealership. He didnt even try to work on fixing any of these issues. In very good condition this car isnt worth 14k!!!
I recently drove down to Florida to visit my sister in my 6 month old 2016 Honda Civic. Once I reached Orlando, all of my warning lights turned on and my car stalled. I had it towed to Holler Honda on Semoran Boulevard Thursday night. It is now Saturday MORNING and I have not heard anything regarding my car or even getting a loaner. I have called Holler Honda TEN TIMES within these two days and each time Ive been placed on hold and transferred to a line where they are insistent on taking down my name and number to give me a callback. Unfortunately they never do call back. At this point I would love to leave that car that costs me $500 at the dealership since its such a freaking headache!!
I am not very happy with Honda as of today. A part of the front suspension fell out onto the highway apparently today. This vehicle was Honda certified but now I am finding out vehicle was apparently wrecked with is big no no. Just buyers beware that bullet proof Honda is no better than our old suppliers at Chevy and Ford. P.S. I am also being hung with $800 repair bill for something that is no fault of my operation of vehicle.
Since my car was new. At 300 miles, I discovered all the fluids were below the recommended marks. The car was never PDId and Honda acknowledged this. At 600 miles, the power steering and engine have been vibrating/making noise. Honda inspected my car several times and it was not until the car was over 2000 miles that they decided to replace the power steering pump. The vibration, they said it was all fixed and done. Honda was supposed to re-inspect the car in early February 2012. I am still waiting for a call from Chris, my case manager.The car is still vibrating at idle; the power steering is still making noises and also vibrates. Front suspension, which was also a problem at 300 miles (according to the dealer who tightened bolts) is still making noises and vibrates. This is a brand new car, and now, at little over 6000 miles, I am ready to get rid of it and take legal actions against American Honda. I have all the documentation from each dealer/mechanic visit.I also have all telephone conversations with Honda (I work in the customer service/hospitality industry and I cannot switch this off for Hondas case manager) and I am scheduled to have a specialized engineer inspect my car for faults to pursue legal actions. I feel unsafe driving my car to work everyday. I am very frustrated and disappointed with Honda and it makes me very sad that simple communications are not even happening between Honda and me.
BEWARE. I love the car (2019 Honda Fit LX) and its almost perfect, with a few flaws that I had to get used to. One being the headlights dont turn off, the audio screen is always on, going from reverse to drive sometimes has me ending up in neutral, and the rear view camera is always getting dirty. Other than that I love the car and feel safe in it. Until today, after a month buying and driving this car NEW. I went to unlock the car and nothing worked. I went to try to unlock it manually with my key. The whole thing was dead. Had to call roadside assistants and they brought out AAA, who kept saying someone either was trying to break into my car or I pushed the panic button by mistake. No sir, all wrong. Im in a personal gated garage. Anyway, nobody could figure it out but eventually they came to the conclusion that the alarm system just glitched and that I can come in and have the guy turn the alarm off. WTF so I cant use the car with a panic alarm or else I risk the car having me locked out until someone comes to fix it? What is this a stolen iphone. I mean come on! Being unable to get into my car was very scary considering the fact that if I had left my phone inside the car by mistake and needed to unlock the car there would be no way of doing so! Everything works fine again for now but Im still feel uneasy about driving the car now. Again great customer service, nice car, and good driving vision from all views but one very unsafe experience. This car was purchased in Los Angeles, CA.
I am having intermittent electrical and electronic issues with both of my 2017 Hondas. I use to think Honda was a smart purchase but at this point I would never buy another Honda and I will also include Acura as the electronics are likely similar. Really disappointed with these two cars, thank god I leased them. Can’t wait to send them back. The dealers seem like they are so overwhelmed with complaints they will say anything to make you go away. Well guess what? After the lease I have.
I had to replace the brakes at 20555 miles, again at 35936 and then again at 53150. Honda accepts no responsibility for this problem. They insult my intelligence by blaming me for the premature wear. I have paid out over $600 on brakes so far. The oil pressure switch went out to at a little over 53000 miles, another $300. Battery also died after 2 years (replaced by warranty). The car has not been very dependable and is expensive to maintain. I want to sue them for the brake problems that they refuse to acknowledge!
I purchased a used Honda vehicle, 2014 model, in great condition. After paying 19K for this vehicle, after the first month of owning this vehicle the paint start peeling off the trunk door (Honda Odyssey), and around the door frames. After doing some research I found out that there was a defect with the paint used on Honda Odysseys for the year of my vehicle. Honda knew about this defect and so extended their warranty for 7 years, great. However, for those of us purchasing a vehicle used because we cant afford to purchase new, we dont find out about FACTORY DEFECTS until after the crap hits the fan. I called Hondas customer service line and was rejected, I asked to be sent to mediation. They told me I would hear back in 3-5 days but after a month I heard nothing. I called back, they told me I would hear back by the end of the day, nothing again. I called the following day and was told Id hear back, nothing AGAIN. Another week goes by and I call AGAIN, and finally reach somebody who tells me that I made the choice to buy used and out of warranty so Im out of luck, despite the now compromised frame and body of my vehicle, and the structural damage that will occur (hello safety concern when the frame of my vehicle rusts to ** because of a defect Honda knows about but doesnt care to handle). This customer service experience has been HORRIBLE, and what makes it worse is the Honda KNOWS they produced and mass sold a vehicle with faulty paint, and its those of us who have to purchased used, not able to afford new, who have to incur the further financial hit to try to fix this issue. Just over one month I had this car, meticulously taken care of, mint condition, not owner neglect, but rather Honda neglect, and this multimillion-dollar company refuses to fix the problem they created. Good one.
I have purchased several Honda cars over the years only to find, in 2019, how far Honda has fallen from its benchmark. I will never buy another Honda automobile. I had the great misfortune of choosing a dealership in Racine, Wisconsin (Racine Honda) to buy a 2019 Honda CRV. When I arrived to take delivery, I noticed that several of the options I had ordered were either not installed or not installed properly. When I pointed this out to the salesman and expressed my displeasure (sincerely but in a business-like manner), the salesman simply walked away from me and did not return. Neither did anyone else and, after ten minutes, I left the dealership.On my way home from this unbelievable experience, I called the dealership manager and expressed my displeasure with the salesman. Incredibly, the manager hung the phone up on me. The message was obvious: Mr. Customer, we got your money, now get out of here. With the dealership showing no regard for my problem, I called Honda corporate. Amazingly, Honda corporate would take no action to address my concerns. In short, Honda corporate told me that they created a file in regard to my problem, but that no action would be taken to resolve my concerns.When you make your important decision on how to spend your hard-earned money, I suggest you remember this experience. Honda will be only too happy to take your money, but as my experience relates, do not expect this company to come to your aid should you have an experience of the kind described here. Absolutely shameful!
I have called Honda customer service numerous times with regards to my airbag light permanently remaining on. I have verified with several mechanics, that apparently, this is a faulty seatbelt buckle that needs to be replaced. When I mentioned this to Honda, they advised me that they may be able to assist with something. They wont mention what that something is, and on the condition that I take my vehicle to a Honda dealership for confirmation.While I can appreciate the fact that Honda has to verify this, I dont believe I should have to pay over $100 just for a technician to verify what they already know to be an issue. This should actually be recalled by Honda. I have 3 colleagues that all own Hondas and we all have the same problem.When you contact Honda, asking if this is part of a recall, they deny it. What will it take for Honda to take ownership and replace these faulty buckles? Does someone need to die?
I just received my 2018 Honda Accord a week ago, drove the car 300 miles and transmission needs to be replaced. Honda corporate wont give me a new car and gave me a bunch of lame excuses. I paid $35000 for a brand new car and dont want a car that is already messed up! Local dealership agrees with me but they are not the decision makers but I have been told by others that the dealership could make this decision and do the right thing for the customer. This is my second Honda car but will certainly be the last one! I will take to every social media site possible to express my extreme displeasure as well as the local TV stations.
Im having the same oil consumption problem with the 2008 Honda Accord that many other owners are having. We bought the car at Anderson Ford in Lincoln, Nebraska and before it was time to change the oil the first time, there was no oil on the dipstick when I checked it. My local mechanic checked it out and couldnt find a problem, so I took it in for the software update, but that had already been done. This is the third Honda weve owned and hope we can continue to be a loyal customer, so I would hope to hear some resolution to this problem. I hope it doesnt come down to someone filing a Class Action suit, etc. Thanks.
I am the original owner of a 2001 Honda Accord with 75000 miles. Yes, it is out of warranty, but the transmission is slipping, it should not go at this point. Also, I brought in my car for a recall on the airbags now (never a problem), now the airbag light is on was told nothing comes up on the computer and dont put my purse on the front seat. Really? Is that the best they have? Im disgusted, never another Honda.
Honda is a reliable car. I have owned other brands as well. I get a smooth driving experience along with the safety features which comes with it. The safety features and side lane changing alerts are very useful while driving.
I am currently driving Honda Jazz model year 2009. Two years ago and on its first year, driving was okay until I found that they seem to be having a transmission problem. I have sent my car and reported the problem that I am facing. Honda Sri Utama advised me to change my engine oil and all four new tire, which doesnt make sense at all.After spending a lot of money to do so, I am still facing the same problem with the transmission. I went back and reported but they require me to meet the engineer from Honda Malaysia. He couldnt solve my problem but claims that theres nothing wrong with the transmission. Ive checked with several street workshop and there is a problem with the transmission which Honda is denying. I went back to Honda and the dealer I bought the car from, finally said that they do not know what is the problem. This is cheating. We spent a lot of time and money to buy a vehicle and all we get is be cheated and not a satisfaction.
My 2008 Honda Civic has an ongoing problem with peeling and flaking paint. The recall did cover the cost of repainting the trunk, roof and hood. However Honda will not cover the cost to repaint the passenger side of the car around the windows. This paint is the worst area on the car. My dealer said it is not covered by the recall and want me to pay part of the expense. I think Honda should be responsible for making the car whole without any cost to me.
Hondas PHEV Clarity cannot properly charge at public charging stations, specifically ChargePoint with dual ports. It handles fine at home with a dedicated 30A charger. We bought the car to take advantage of an employee benefit of free charging (up to 3 hours), but the vehicle cannot sustain uninterrupted charging. Numerous attempts to restart charging will cause the vehicle to malfunction including inability to start the car. This will result in waiting for at least 3 hours to allow the system to auto-recover from the multiple plug-in/plug-out attempts. Issue has been diagnosed by a local dealer, but Honda is too slow to address the problem.
I purchased a new 2009 Honda Accord Coupe, 4 cylinder, and after about 35,000 miles, I started experiencing excessive oil consumption. Oil is being lost at the rate of 1 qt. per 1,000 miles. I do not see any oil on my garage floor, so I can only assume it is burning it slowly. This is my second Accord, by the way, and I drive 25,000 miles per year, so I know darn well what the usage rate is. I went online to see if any other people had experienced this, and was surprised to find out that many other owners are having this problem, all across the US, in fact. The car was under warranty, so I called American Honda, and they told me to take it to a dealer, so that a diagnostic could be run, but they admitted that there was a recall for this problem. They said there was a software update, which should solve the problem. I was highly skeptical that software could fix it, but I played along. The next day, I took the car to Herb Chambers Honda in Burlington, MA for a diagnostic. They didnt see anything in the codes, and no visible signs of leakage. They did the software upgrade, and changed the oil, and told me to come back when (if) the oil level hit the low point on the dip stick. At about 2,700 miles, 1/27/12, the oil light came on today. I took the car back today, and they told me it had a little over 2 quarts of oil in it. It lost roughly 2 quarts per 1,000 miles. There was no change after the software upgrade at all. Actually, there was a change. My gas mileage went from high 20s to low 20s on the highway. They actually made the car worse. The dealer told me that 1 quart per 1,000 miles is normal for any car. I almost fell over, when they said that. In all my years of driving, including cars from the 60s and 70s, I have never seen a car come anywhere close to that. They actually thought I would buy that story. It is unbelievable! So, I called American Honda, to speak with the case manager that had been assigned to my case, and was expecting him to be all apologetic, and say that they would resolve the problem. Not a chance! He used the same line the dealer did, with the 1 qt. per 1,000 miles being normal usage. I was outraged! I just couldnt believe it. A multiple car Honda owner, and they didnt care the slightest about me, or their product. They could have made a customer for life by fixing it, but instead, they made an enemy for life. Now, Im stuck with a 2 year old piece of junk, and have no choice but to trade it in. Ill never buy another product from Honda, ever again, and I will be sure tell my story to everyone I come in contact with.
I bought this car because I wanted Quality, reliability and pride of ownership. Honda has lost the word Quality, Reliability and pride of ownership. They are living in the past! Cheap Brake pads (rotors being turned at 18,000 miles, 4 brake jobs before 60,000 miles). Excess consumption of oil in engine. Spark plugs needed to be replaced every 5,000 miles. Short Block was replaced, Then the Heads were replaced, then all the parts in the short block were replaced. Comes to find out I had a cracked head seal. When they removed the heads they dented the fender walls on the two front fenders which had to be repaired. One morning I went to work and the transmission would not get out of second and then it would not get out of park in the middle of an intersection.I loved this car and took a long time and money to make sure I got what I want. I finally got rid of the car because no one in my family trusted it and did not want to drive it. The GM of the dealership called me one day and said that they had over $12,500 worth of repairs in the car. He asked me if I wanted to trade it in. I was at that dealership twice a week getting rentals so they could try and get this fixed. HONDA stood silent.Really- would you buy another Honda, I did trade it in and bought a Camry. I drive 75 miles a day to work on the Highway and Honda could not handle that. Do not always believe what you read. MY son owns a 1997 Camry with 230,000 and runs better than the 2008 Honda Accord. Go to ** and you will see what Im talking about. It has been 6 month since I owned the Honda and Im still very agree, Because Honda did nothing. They do not care. They are living in the past and people are paying a higher price for a car that has issues. This is just one story and I have learned my lesson. Happy Travels.
Purchased a 2012 Honda Civic Sedan on Feb. 9th, 2012. Drove it for 2 days and my lower back started to hurt like crazy. I mean I could barely get off of my couch without being in excruciating pain! Called the dealer and he recommending by a lumbar support at Walgreens. Wow! Great fix! Apparently, they have a bad design and they tell you to buy a lumbar support. I looked on a Honda forum and there were several complaints about the civic seats. Spoke with the General Manager and the dealership is suppose to call me on Monday! Will see what they say! 28-32 MPG in town doesnt do anyone any good if you cant drive the car because the seats are so uncomfortable you cant bare the excruciating lower back pain!
Extremely reliable. The car has had no breakdowns near home or while traveling cross country. It is fun to drive and has plenty of acceleration. There is also plenty of passenger room, the suspension seems durable and visually the car looks aerodynamic and cuts through the wind with little resistance and air turbulence.
I called them several times. The pressure on the wand built up and my husband could not get it to release. They told us to take it to a repair shop. I told them it is a safety issue, if someone was around when that pressure released, it would hurt anyone close by and I did not want to load it and haul it for that reason. It was a commercial heavy duty washer, which we thought would last longer, it is about 3 yrs. old. It is used maybe twice a month, and just for personal use at home.Needless to say it is just sitting out our way so when it blows hopefully no one will get hurt. If they do, I told Dewalt they will be responsible as they have been told and chose to do nothing about it.
Probably the worst I will ever own. It was a 2019 EX-L. Infotainment issues were horrible, very buggy system. Dealership (Brandon Honda) told me it was a known issue and they couldnt fix it. One of the managers told me it was a Honda problem and not theirs. Awesome. Doors never worked right, trapping people inside. Transmission hesitated and jerked like crazy. A very poorly engineered vehicle. I traded it in and got an Accord Sport 2.0T...Cant believe that the same company could do things so differently with their products.
My son bought a 2003 Honda Accord. Three days after it was purchased, it wouldnt go into 3rd gear unless he just stepped on it or waited for the transmission to decide what to do. He asked the friend and she stated that it did it a few times with her and was told it was a clogged valve but nothing major. He checked with Honda and found out there was a recall; however, wouldnt you know the recall on the transmission had nothing to do with the problem he was facing. I started to do some research and see if there were other people with the same issue. I was absolutely astonished at how many complaints were filed with Honda and blogs and BBB and Consumer Affairs with the same exact problem. Ironically enough, the issues with all the complaints were that it was after all the warranties were expired, go figure. I decided to call Honda and just speak to them to see if Honda was investigating the issue since there were so many complaints, and the previous recall had nothing to do with this issue. Well, I was told that since we bought the car as is, Honda will not investigate the issue. I explained that we can get the lady we bought it from to call and she said that didnt matter because we bought the car, it was now in our name. Really? So you will listen to my complaint and I can file one with you, but basically you dont care because we just bought the car. The CS spokeswoman told me, Maam, I am more than willing to file your complaint, but yes, because you just purchased the car, there is nothing Honda can do. Wow, so you mean to tell me that there are thousands of complaints about the same issue, same model, same year and Honda is not willing to investigate the issue at hand? I have told my son, let this be a lesson learned, dont go by what everyone tells you that Hondas are good cars and they last forever, blah, blah, blah. I would even understand if there were only a few complaints about this issue. But I was amazed at how many there were about this and yet there seems to be no ongoing investigation to see if there was something that could be done. I am so very disappointed in Honda and their lack of concern about the safety and satisfaction of their consumers.
My 2004 Honda Accord Coupe started jerking at 78,000 miles. I had someone look at it who is a mechanic for the FBI. He said there was very little transmission fluid in the car and that was unusual. Two weeks after he put in transmission fluid, I was alone in the city and my car would not go into reverse. I panicked and called this man who recommended a transmission place. The cost was $2,550 to have the work done. I am a single mom and had to rent a car for the week it took to replace the transmission. This cost an additional $200. I looked up Honda car problems and this is a common problem with my car. I called Honda and they said that my VIN was not a car that was documented as having a problem. I have since had the car repaired and it still doesnt feel quite right. The transmission company asked if I would bring the car back in three weeks, so that they can check that everything is working properly.
I bought a Honda Civic sedan 2010 from the Authorized dealer here in Egypt, but I face some problems with them. The Steering wheel material started to peel off and I went to the authorized dealer (Al) for it to be repaired. They replied that it is a common complaint in this car, but they cant include it in the warranty although my warranty is still active! Please advise what I should do. Thank you.
I have the 2 year Honda factory with an extended warranty on my 2016 Honda HRV. After 18 months I am having it serviced here in Naples and asked what coverage is offered to correct hazing headlight lenses to make this right. They told me because it was caused by the elements Honda does not cover this. I would classify this as poor quality and workmanship. Extremely disappointed lifelong Honda driver! Oh well.
I bought my 02 Accord brand new, and now have 174K on the clock. Ive replaced the transmission 3 times, and finally found a shop here in San Francisco that built it correctly. They told me that Honda transmissions are unlike any other standard transmission design and they fail often. Theres too much pressure kept in the torque converter, and not enough return fluid for the unit to function correctly. There are several aftermarket fixes, of course, that you have to pay for. When I picked my car up at the shop, there were 3 Accords, 3 Odysseys and 2 MDXs. I called American Honda to ask for some sort of help seeing as this is my 3rd time around the pony show - nothing. Shame on Honda for being so stupid in their design. Im not going back for more.
Small ding in the driver side door, when hitting a concrete barrier, caused airbag to deploy and now is having severe roaring in my ear. This was 2 days ago. The airbag deployment caused more damage to me and the vehicle, so I think that we are over protected! Too much government intervention, I am 70 and my hearing was excellent before this, as my doctor said, I could hear a pin drop.
My issue is my 2013 Honda CRV I financed 3years ago. Vehicle has been stalling and throwing all kinds of codes out there. Almost put 2000 into it just getting it towed. Car stalled in middle of busy street, I almost got hit. I took it to my local PEP Boys and they did 500 worth of work to it, stopped the next day. I took it back to pep boys and they kept it for 3days. And said they didnt have technology to fix what was wrong with it. I got it towed to my dealership where I financed and the symptoms got worse. More codes, misfires, spluttering, stalling, shaking. Hill-Kelly Dodge my dealer said to have it towed to my manufacturer which is Honda. My vehicle has been there for days, the advisor called day2 and said all it needed was gas. I said, Really I keep gas in my car. She also said it was driving good. I refused to pick up. I told her this has been going on for years. She kept it and said they would just run it and see if anything happens. Eventually it did. It started throwing codes again and misfiring. So she said they would work on it and hopefully see what they could find. I called honda corporation and email twice. Representatives were horrible. Its was, What do you want us to do about this problem. I said, Your company made the car. This is a big safety issue. The representative just started talking about random stuff. I was very dissatisfied with the customer service there. I really wanna get a case started against this company. I will never buy another honda vehicle about this.
I purchased a 2022 Honda HRV from Honda dealership, Carbone Honda, who sold to LED. My car stalled a couple times and salesperson said it was the energy saving feature, not really stalling. I had aftermarket car starter installed. Then car became difficult to start and stopped while driving on highway. They blamed the car starter and charged me to remove it and restore to factory. On my way home it shut off again. They then determined the washer holding the main ground wire was not staying locked and replaced it. Told me it wasn’t the car starter. I’m out $550 for car starter and removal of it. I’m afraid to put it back in because any issue will be blamed on it. I’m being bullied into buying their product. They refuse to return my money and I drove the car unsafely for a couple of months. I was basically called a liar by the Service Manager 12/17/21. Offered to discount factory car starter to $650 + tax and $100 loyalty card if I met the Honda Rep and signed a release. Honda Corp has an open case but always tell me that all they can do is talk to dealership. Whenever you call dealership no one answers, was told they had no receptionist in Service so they answer when they are not busy. I will never buy from Honda again!!
Certified used warranty is a scam. Honda sold me a certified used vehicle under their program that guarantees a 151-point inspection. Right out of the dealership, the car had a burnt accessory fuse, missing tire change tools, and garbage in the spare tire well under the trunk. This leads me to believe they did not check all the fuses and they did not check to see if a spare tire was even included with the vehicle, let alone properly inflated. They did not offer compensation for failing to check these points in their original inspection and they did not agree to perform another 151-point inspection at my request. It is now 14 months after I purchased the vehicle and only about 8,000-9,000 miles on the car from since we bought it. The power steering pump had a major failure; repair is quoted at $740.01. They refuse to repair the vehicle at no cost since non-powertrain warranty only covers 12-months/12,000 miles. I would typically accept this response, but I feel as if the car was never fully inspected like they advertised. A power steering pump should not have a major failure after 8,000-9,000 miles. I should not have this much difficulty explaining my frustration to Honda, a company that prides itself on reliable cars and helpful people, especially with such low mileage on the vehicle.
My husband purchased a Honda CBR250R motorcycle on 4/4/2012 and faulty on 8/4/2012 while he went Taiping trip with his group of biker friends. The motorbikes certainly cant start after stop to have a drink in Taiping town. So far, we have been changing so many new bikes but this is the first time this kind of problem arose, which feels uneasy and yet needs to arrange towing service from Taiping back to Ipoh. In my mind, Honda should bear all the cost incurred including the towing service which make us feel unsatisfied of the product. I have been sending two complaints to Ban Hoe Seng webpage, but no reply from them. I feel disappointed and lack confidence to spread around confidently of Honda product. All my friends ask us about the incident.
I am Raj ** and I am working in a private company. I purchased a new Honda bike to sell our house which is in Delhi. I purchased a Honda Shine from Race Honda Patpargani, New Delhi. Date of sale was August 14,2011. But it is not running straight on the road, there is a problem bubbling in my bike. I checked the bike the next day, August 15, 2011.In the showroom, they loose the screw of the handle and told me that my bike was okay. But the problem is the same. When I went back there the next day, August 17, 2011, I asked why is it having the same problem. The showroom manager told me that I should go to their workshop. So I went to the workshop on August 24, 2011 and met the workshop manager, Mr Ashwani **. He told me that the rear rim found the band because of the speed breaker and digs, he said they cannot do anything for me and I have to pay around Rs 3,700 for it. I was shocked when I heard it. Then I decided to complain to the Honda Bike Company. The telephone numbers are 2290911, 2290912, 2290913. I do not feel good about them, compared to other companys customer care. But after all that, one Honda engineer Mr. Umesh came, I was hoping he could help me. But he was so busy with his cellphone and he didnt listen to a single word I said, he just told me that my bike is not under warranty so I need to pay for the repair. The parking charge was Rs50 extra, so I was so unhappy that I asked him why do I have to pay for parking and a rim. Then he told me that I have purchased a Honda bike, and that he will not give me a favor. After all that, I think I took the wrong decision to purchase a Honda Shine. My bike is still in the workshop. What can I do now. Can I fire myself?
I called Honda Care from sticker in window. Roadside service. They got my money, never dispatched anyone to unlock my car. No callback. No confirmation. I was able to find a local officer in Florida to contact local locksmith. Within 5 min my car was unlocked. I was in route with a 7 year old, phone locked in car. Absolutely do not depend on Honda Roadside.
My car is 8 years old and has no cosmetic or engine issues. It gets good gas mileage and is dependable. I enjoy driving my car. I like that it gets good mileage. I love that it is dependable.
When dealing with a first rated class car, one would expect first class service from start to finish. Unfortunately with Honda, the first class service stops with the purchase of the car. Unfortunately my 2016 Honda LX would not start at an unfortunate place. Called Hondas Towing Service. Towing company showed up more than half an hour later than what Honda stated. Even got a call from them stating when tow truck should be there. Unfortunately tow truck got called much later than Honda Tow Truck Service said they called. Worst part was that tow truck driver had no idea how to tow a brand new car which should not have happened with 2016 Car of the Year. Spent over 2 hours with two truck driver trying to help him tow my own car. One would think Honda would school their subcontracted tow truck drivers how to tow. Worst part was when got to Honda dealer, they didnt know how to get car off tow driver truck. Ugh worst experience ever.
Jason of Brooklyn, NY your Crosstour is not the only one with water leaking under the trunk flooding out the NAV control unit. The first time my 2012 flooded the car was at the dealer for a month. Honda also has a policy to rent you a loaner after so many hours it is in the shop. My NAV unit was emitting fumes inside the car with a horrible odour like the perfume used in portable outhouses. The 3rd time it happened I ended up spending the night in ER because my oxygen level was depleted.An owner from Massachusetts drove his 2012 to New Brunswick, a 9-hour drive. When he went out the next day the NAV Unit was melted, glove box and passenger floor carpeting were burnt. Honda refused to remedy the situation for him. Sudden Deceleration is also another serious issue with the V-6. TSB 13-031 is to fix it reactively. Problem is you could be a piece of charcoal from a rear-end collision because your brake lights do not come on to warn traffic behind you when your car slows down to 15 km per hour.My shop manager blamed us that we were misapplying the brake pedal. This is outright negligence and should be a recall issue. Then we have the VCM, Valve Cylinder Management system fouling the spark plugs when it goes from 6 - 4 - 3 cylinders to save fuel. It must also carbon the piston rings because the motors start burning oil. Mine had motor oil leaking unto the front bank exhaust manifold and my favoured Honda Shop Manager denied it was leaking. The Acura Dealer confirmed it was. At 17 thousand km there was a puddle of oil on the driveway when the Bailiff took the car. Honda refused to remedy the situation after 5 letters so I stopped payments. I asked for a low mileage Ridgeline truck because they do not have VCM on the V-6 and a lesser model without the NAV unit. In Ontario we have OMVIC whom I will file a complaint with.
I could not see due to solar glare and accidentally hit a 4-foot steel pole at about 10 miles an hour. I was wearing gloves because it was very cold that morning. My 2003 Honda Odyssey airbag deployed and the chemical from the airbag burned holes through both gloves. I did suffer minor burns but basically the gloves protected me from very serious burns. According to Honda, based on my VIN, I do not have an airbag that necessitated recall. This is my 3rd Honda in the course of 20 years and I am very disappointed. I also feel so fortunate that it was a cold morning when the airbag went off.
Model Accord - System/Structure/Body/Trunk Lid. We have had our 2014 Honda Accord for just over one year. All of our family members have been hit in the head or back by the trunk. The trunk does not stay open on even a modest grade but does not fall down for several seconds, allowing people to lean into the trunk before it hits them. I have a 2001 Honda Accord with 65,000 miles. The first transmission was replaced at 27,500 miles, and was under warranty. Now, my second transmission needs to be replaced at 37,500 miles, and is not covered by the warranty. I have contacted the regional representative, who only saw it was a 2001, and refused to assist in any way. I then contacted their customer service department who filed a claim for me, but a day later called, and gave me the same response. There will be no goodwill gesture on the part of Honda. I have since written a letter to the president of North American Honda, but have not received a response back. I have since had the transmission replaced on the 2001 Honda by a transmission company, for approximately $1,600 plus tax. I still feel that as a goodwill gesture, Honda should be more flexible in a situation, where both transmissions did not have very much miles.
On 23 December I was in an accident with my 2011 CRZ, a very luck buck jumped in my line of traffic. I actually have three complaints against Honda.1. As my vehicle was totally disabled, I called Honda Road Side Assistance. Because of the incompetence of the employee that took my call it took over one hour before a tow truck was dispatched. It is my understanding that service call does not originate in Alberta; that was a huge problem because of my location the gentleman on the phone refused to call a tow truck until he could find me on his map. I told him to just call a local tow truck company and they would know actually where I was. From the time I place the call until the tow truck came it was almost 2 hours.2. I phoned Sherwood Park Honda and asked to speak to a manager with regards to road side assistance. He said it was not his problem and I would have to wait to get a call from Road Side Assistance and I could log my complaint and promptly hung up--no customer service.3. This is the biggie for me. On January 12, 2012 I was informed by the company that was fixing my car that Honda Canada did not have the parts for my car and I could be waiting until possibility the end of February. I telephoned Honda customer service at 888 946 6329 and spoke to a Dennis and told him my problem. He said that he could not help me. If it were a warranty problem then that would be different. I informed that I did not think I had to ask the question, If my car is in accident, do you have the parts to fix it? because I assure I would not have purchased the car. He asked what company was fixing my car and put me on hold for 45 minutes so he could speak to the company that was fixing my car. He came back on line and told me that he had spoken to them and that they had all the parts but one and if would be next. I asked him again if Honda Canada could help and he very rudely told me no. I then told him I wanted to speak to his supervisor and he flatly refused and said it was his call and the answer was no. Funny thing the company fixing my car called the very next day and they never talked to Dennis. I am extremely with the after care I have received from Honda. I purchased this car because I thought they were a company I could trust. Apparently not. I can assure this will be my one and only Honda.
My 2008 certified used Honda Accord (SDN/4 DR, EX-L) was hit hard from the front left side and none of my airbags deployed. I was at a stand still (at a stop sign), the fast oncoming vehicle crashed into me causing me to skid 10 feet, knocking my front bumper off, shattering my windows and I have been told my front axle is broke. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol recommended I file a complaint since none of my airbags deployed.
Ive enjoyed my 2003 Honda Odyssey as a family car and also to haul garden materials. The seats are comfy and the overall driving experience is good. My main complaint is twofold. First, it gets only about 16 miles to the gallon around town/18 on the freeway. This is pretty poor by any standards. And second, the clear coat on the dark green paint job has failed; this began within 8 years of purchase. Large portions of the horizontal surfaces have peeled off, leaving a white residue, while the vertical surfaces still look very nice. I see other Odysseys around town of the same vintage and they all have the same problem. And a quick look on the web shows that this is a massive problem. I am looking forward to buying a new car soon but will not be buying a Honda due to the paint problem. Its a shame really as the car has performed well.
I purchased a used car from Hendricks Honda Pompano beginning August 2018. I was looking for a used car, and I found a 2017 Infiniti QX60 that I liked. Jose (Jose **) in sales helped me, I went, I tried the car, and after some negotiation, we agree on the purchase. When in the negotiation process, I asked Jose several times if the car came with 2 set of keys for it and he said that yes the vehicle had two keys. The day I went to pick up the car, after asking for the keys Jose mentioned that the second key was in a locked place and he didnt have the key for that place so we will send me the second key on the mail.After requesting the key several times, finally Jose sent me a key in the mail, and when I tried it, it didnt work. I called Jose and mentioned what happened, and he promised to help me solve the problem. After several calls and texts, I have copies, that never happened. By the end of October, the car run out of battery and I needed a jump start, so I tried to open my SUV with the key with the physical key on the fob, and to my surprise, it didnt work. So the fob did work, but the physical key didnt. Of course, the second key sent by email neither. I called the dealership for some help, knowing that Jose will not help me since he never did. I was helped by Dmitry (Dmitry **), after recommending to change the batteries on the fob which I did, but didnt work, I explained that I didnt have access to my car, to open the hood for the jump start.Finally, he stated that I had to bring the car to the dealership to make the keys, and I reply to, HOW? If I cant access the inside of the car how can I take the car to the dealership? His answer: TOW IT! After a long conversation he hung up on me, and when I called him back he didnt answer my calls anymore, thats what I call customer service!!! Needing to work and desperate, I tried to call the General Manager or CEO of the company and left several messages, and he never answered back. I also called several times Jose my salesperson with the same luck. This happened on Friday, by Monday, and losing all those days of work, I called everybody again, and they transferred me to Manny (Emanuel **). Ohhh Myyyy, what an ignorant individual, impersonating a manager. After talking for more than 30 minutes, he never understood what the situation was, so I asked him for another manager, not knowing he was not, since he presented himself as a manager and not a sales associate. The phone call went to another voice message.Desperate at this point not knowing what to do, I talked again to the receptionist, Ariana and I beg her to transfer me with someone that would care. She was extremely professional and helpful, honestly trying to help me and she did since she transferred me to Richard (Richard **). This guy in less than 30 seconds understood and asked me to wait for a locksmith at my location. I wonder why Dmitry didnt offer this four days ago, but I was glad that someone at least was trying to help me.To make it short the locksmith came to my place, to make the physical key, I had no idea that with no original they can do that, he opened the car, then the hood and he jumpstarted the car, everything in less than 15 minutes. I was ecstatic, I was going to be able to work again, and I began to wonder why Dmitry asked me to tow the car to the dealership to make the keys when that was NOT necessary AT ALL! I showed the second key to the Locksmith that Jose sent by mail, and the stated that that key was never for my car, once paired it can not be changed, not the fob or the physical key and if I wanted another one I had to order one from scratch.To summarize Im not surprised Dmitry, Jose and Manny, still work in that company if we have in mind they have as General Manager, Mark **, who is a stranger to the concept of customer service. I still have to make the extra key that was promised at the purchase of the car more than four months ago. But at least Im happy I can use my car. Hope someone in Honda will address this issues since this is NOT the way to handle any situation or customer.
I purchased a new, 2022 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition just a little over two weeks ago. When my vehicle was less than two weeks old, with under 500kms it began throwing warning lights. The awd stopped working and my heater shut down entirely (in minus 30 weather). I was getting a total of eight different warning lights and I couldnt move my electric seats to be able to drive safely. Once I got my vehicle home it would no longer start. I figured no big deal, my vehicle hasnt even gone through its first tank of gas, Honda has a great reputation and will take care of me. I have never been so wrong about a manufacturer and have never felt so unappreciated as a customer. It took days to even get my vehicle towed. Ive now spent the past five days on the phone talking with over a dozen different people. Every person I spoke with said it was a different department or persons responsibility. Literally just passing the buck back and forth between Honda Customer Relations, Honda Roadside Assistance and the dealership. I even had my call dropped at one point. After being juggled around for days I finally demanded to speak to a supervisor at Honda Customer Relations. Customer relations told me that supervisors dont speak on the phone with customers. I thought I must have misheard what I was being told. I can buy a forty dollar watch from China and get a supervisor on the phone but not for a new vehicle? I spent 60k on a vehicle two weeks ago (though I havent actually been able to drive it for nearly half the duration of ownership) and Honda Canada doesnt even value me enough as a customer to allow me to speak to someone above the person answering the phone. I was told the only way I would be able to speak to a supervisor is if I was injured or if my vehicle injured someone else. Theyre lucky that I was able to pilot my heater less vehicle from a near laying position back to my house without injuring someone. I however, was not so lucky, as apparently an accident is the only way that you rate high enough to speak to someone with an answer other than we dont take care of that or its someone elses responsibility. Thats what it ultimately comes down to...caring. Honda obviously no longer cares if its customers are safe or remotely satisfied. My vehicle is sitting at the dealership 170kms away from my home, after it broke down due to no fault of my own. Not my fault but my problem. Hondas suggestion was either rent a vehicle on my dollar or talk to my insurance company about getting a rental. Honda Canada, as you have made blatantly clear at this point, your (technically my, though I dont actually have possession) malfunctioning, unsafe vehicle has become solely my problem after I signed on the dotted line. I however, will never buy another Honda and I will let everyone who will hear it know that Honda no longer stands behind their product and definitely not their customer. This has been unequivocally the worst buying experience Ive had to date. Im sitting here in utter disbelief, sick to my stomach trying to figure out how to get my new vehicle back home. I recommend that if youre shopping for a new vehicle that you dont just assume that Honda still stands for reliability and customer service as I had. Look into the customer complaints, class action lawsuits and youll likely figure out that Honda has adopted the money first, customer last stance that so many manufacturers are moving towards. Let my expensive mistake guide you away from a company that no longer embodies what used to be synonymous with Honda...Trust. Youll pay the Honda premium, theyll pocket your dollars, take your trust, crumple it up and toss it along side you into the trash. I may not speak for all your customers but I think all those youve tossed aside would agree...We arent asking for better.. were demanding it!
I bought a 2013 Honda CRV. The battery would drain after 2-3 days of sitting idle. I got it checked repeatedly at the Honda service department when I bought the vehicle. They kept saying the parasitic draw was within specification, and to disconnect the battery cables if it was going to sit for more than 2 days. So each time I park the car on a Sunday and dont move again until Friday (I walk to work), I have to disconnect the cables, or use a solar charger (I park underground heated parking at my condo). They said it was fine and just to drive it more, for 1.5 hrs at a time every couple days to charge up the battery. Ridiculous! I own two other vehicles (different brands) and they can sit for a couple weeks and start no problem. Never had this before, and have since heard it is common on Hondas. I traded it in for a different vehicle and will never buy a Honda again. Honda Canada customer department refused to acknowledge the problem, as did the dealership.
My recent experience with Honda has been beyond disappointing. I have never owned a Honda before, but I had heard good things about their reliability and that Honda was a reputable company that stood behind their product. Sadly, I have found none of this to be true. I will never purchase another Honda, and I have advised my friends and family to avoid making a purchase they will regret. I have also filed a complaint with Consumer Affairs.On July 20, during the hottest stretch of weather we have had in Vermont in a long time, my air conditioner quit. I looked it up on the internet to see if there was a quick fix. I was hoping maybe it was a fuse or something simple and I was surprised to find report after report and complaint after complaint about the air conditioner compressors quitting in the Honda CR-Vs. I went to a local garage, where they verified it was indeed the air conditioner compressor.Since my mileage was beyond the warranty, but the car is only a 2008, I called Honda to see if they could offer any assistance with replacing this very expensive part and was advised that I needed to have a dealer diagnose the issue. After making a 45-minute trip to a dealer for a 5-minute appointment, to verify the problem as Honda asked me to do. I again called to see if I could receive some assistance, anything, I was just hoping theyd pay half of it, just something to help me out and make a goodwill gesture. I spoke to a woman who was extraordinarily unhelpful and unsympathetic. She just kept repeating it was beyond warranty. I fully understand what a warranty is, and I explained to her that if it were under warranty I would have just taken it to a dealer in the first place and had it fixed! If my car were the only one with this problem, I would have accepted it as my bad luck and gone on my merry way. However, my research has shown that this has happened to many Honda owners and the part appears to be defective! The right thing for Honda to do would be to accept some of the responsibility for this defective part and offer owners some sort of assistance in making the repair.It makes me terribly sad that your company has chosen to not do the right thing. While trying to scrape up the money to have my air conditioner fixed, I had to borrow a friends car (a very reliable, older model Subaru with a working air conditioner), in order to take my 90-year-old father to the doctor because he is unable to tolerate the heat due to his age and his health. I was embarrassed to tell him that my 3-year-old car had such an expensive issue already. If it werent for the necessity of having air conditioning to drive my elderly parents around safely, I wouldnt even have had it fixed. In Vermont, we dont use air conditioning very often, which adds to the evidence that there is something wrong with this part as it couldnt possibly be overused in three short years. Especially in a state with such a short summer.I have enclosed a copy of the bill for my repair in the hope that your company will reconsider and take this opportunity to do the right thing and reimburse me for a repair that I should never have had to make. This is a 2008 Honda CR-V with current miles of 39,271 which was delivered June 26, 2008 from White Plains Honda Westchester New York.It is with great concern that I am forced to express my disgust in realizing that the right front strut of the vehicle mentioned above has ceased to be functional, not withstanding that fact that this occurred right after the time of the warranty expiration and with the vehicle only achieving the miles stated above.I am hereby requesting that special consideration be given to the replacement of the defective strut as an act of good faith, bearing in mind that the vehicle has never been in an accident and is only driven from home to office, to the supermarket and occasionally to transport a family member to and from the airport. In addition, all the service schedules has been adhered to at the New Rochelle Honda Dealership that is closer to my home. I am happy with the performance of the vehicle otherwise, except at approximately 3,000 miles the entire steering assembly had to be replaced due to excessive power steering under steer (very stiff). I have a 2014 Honda Accord EX - current MILEAGE 38,000 miles. First let me review the product. My first experience has been with the XM radio antenna. The radio antenna is no longer working. The antenna went bad at 25,000 miles and after a Honda diagnostic, it is close to $350 repair. Ridiculous!!! Second, my display screen for my radio as well as special features and safety precautions randomly does not display when started. That has been an intermediate problem so I have not been able to diagnose. Finally and the last straw, my starter needs to be replaced in my car with only 38,000 miles. What??? I thought Honda are suppose to be reliable. It is going to cost me nearly $700 to replace the starter. This is ridiculous and the quality of my Honda product has not meet my minimal expectations.Now let me tell you about the horrid customer service I received at three different levels of this problem. First I contacted my local dealer, Heather Cannon Honda in Ponca City OK, for a diagnosis of the starting problem. After waiting for my car, that has been diagnosed for six hours now, there was absolutely no paperwork ready or prepared for me when I got there. After watching the guy circle around three times, I was again irritated with Honda. Long story short, the owner called me a left a hateful and extremely rude message in my phone. I will no longer step foot in that dealership, so now I have to travel a total of four hours to the dealership where I purchased the new Honda. So I called Battison Honda in Oklahoma City. After explaining my situation with a service assistant, he told me it was above his pay grade and couldn’t help me. Just to let you know, I told him that at the beginning of the conversation I wanted to speak to the service manager, he refused. What I was asking for was an acknowledgment that they would replace my starter at the same quote price as the Ponca location. I also asked for some considerations on the repair costs because I feel that a new starter, antenna and display at 38,000 is excessive and a company who believed in their products would support their loyal customers. The is not my first Honda but it will be my last. Now the service assistant told he that he would return my call or the service manager would return my call. That was over 48 hours ago and I have heard nothing from Battison Honda in OKC. Now it is the Thursday before a holiday weekend and I have no car. I sure all these people at Honda a car that works, so they don’t care. During this time, I had sent a customer concern to Honda Motor Company. They said it was out of warranty and too bad, basically. I resent a response and someone from American Honda Motor Company was suppose to get back to me. Someone actually called and ironically enough, I was outside receiving my car from the tow truck it was attached to to get it home because it wouldn’t start. I returned her call immediately and have not received a call back. That was over 24 hours ago. The Honda techs name was Belinda and her ext is **. That is just for the Honda people’s info to follow up this string of horrid customer service practices. I am on a limited income and some consideration for the poor quality product I purchased would be very helpful. However, I can’t get anyone to even contact me back. All I can do is refuse to buy another Honda and tell others of my experience and hope they can make a more informed consumer choice.I do know the ugly manner in which Heather Cannon Honda of Ponca City OK has handled a customer has lost at least one Honda sale for her. (Not mine, another who I allowed to hear her message.) I am so unhappy with this Honda and Honda customer service that I hope this costs them a few more sales. Maybe then, they will make customer service a priority.
I have read reviews regarding the roof peeling. Exact same thing happened to me. After getting off the freeway one day and parking my car, the paint was just GONE! A rather large section. Cost me $1500 to fix. I cant believe this is a known issue that many people have had issues with and Honda doesnt want to address it and help us out.
We bought a 2013 Honda Accord EX in Sept. 2013. We have been driving Honda vehicles since the early 1990s, and are fierce defenders of Honda quality. At least we had been. Our 4 cylinder Accord gets very good gas mileage: 39 mpg. average. It is extremely quiet, and the heavy doors remind me of the mercedes vehicles we used to own prior to the hondas. However, at 17,000 mi. we took the car to our local tire store to put on snow tires for the winter, and the guy noticed an oil leak. He didnt diagnose it correctly, but that didnt matter as it was under warranty, which led us to have it checked at the dealership in Albuquerque. They diagnosed a bad seal btw, the engine and transmission. They had to pull the engine to get to it and repair it. It was fixed, under warranty and at no expense, but I worry now about other weaknesses that may show their ugly head as the car gets older and goes off warranty. This one seal would have cost a thousand dollars to replace had we had to pay for it since the engine had to be pulled to access it. I have an 04 Element that now has 97,000 mi., and have not had a single problem or complaint with it. Maybe the older ones were better made, as I hear Honda is having numerous quality issues with newer cars. I think well try a different manufacturer next time, as no new car should need engine / transmission seals replaced so soon.
I left Detroit Metro Airport at 6:30 p.m. after a flight from Mexico with my kids. My Honda Odyssey had 1,500 on it - less than 1 month old. I got a flat tire at Ford Road and 269. I had paid for tire and wheel protection (as well as roadside assistance) so I thought, no big deal. I pulled into a sketchy gas station and called Honda Roadside Assistance (RSA) at just before 7 p.m. The guy on the other end asked for my make and model number (and VIN) and asked if he could use my phone to geolocate me. I said fine. I still had to read him the address of the gas station THREE times and he sent a tow truck from 40 minutes away. This is Detroit, mind you. There are tow trucks on every corner. I called the tow company and they said they could be there at 8:45... I had two children with me. I asked the Honda RSA guy where the spare tire was located so I could change it myself. He said, Do you have a spare? I said, I have had this vehicle for 3 weeks. I dont know. I was hoping you would. He said he would, Pray for me. I dont think prayer is a course of action. He also told me to check the trunk of the car for the spare. I had to tell him that minivans dont have trunks. He asked if the spare might be under the car. Again, I said ... its a minivan, not a car. I asked it he had access to the owners materials online. He said, I dont think so. Before the tow truck could arrive, I had: Foraged behind a dumpster for stones to brace my van; Consulted the owners manual for instructions; Found the spare and jack; Changed the tire. This was awesome considering the RSA guy told me they would only tow me to the closest dealership (60 miles away from my house) and leave me there if I couldnt change the tire myself or find an Uber/Family to take me home. The only other option was to pay $5/mile for a tow back to Lansing. Wait... Whaaaat? I thought that was why I had RSA??? I changed the tire myself. They called me three times on the way home to tell me the tow had been delayed. I took the wheel/tire to Honda today to get it replaced. They will, indeed, replace the tire... But not the spare. The spare specifically says for limited use only and says no more than 70 miles. At this point I have 100+ miles on it. I want a new spare, too. They said they would replace it if it was punctured. So now I have to wait until Im double stranded to get that stuff replaced. STUPID, just stupid.
Honda are terrible at repairing their vehicles for used cars “beware they can replace a secret computer on their cars and changed their information between yours and the used products. So they would need to use a new computer for 2019 and older SUV.
We purchased a certified used 2012 Honda Accord Sedan in March 2014. We are now attempting to private sell, trade in the vehicle that we purchased and cant give it away. We are being offered no more than $7k for a car worth 13-14k. Come to find out we were only given half the story. The car was not involved in a minor crash prior to our purchase, it was involved in a total of 2 collisions with moderate damage and air bag deployment. Further research and appraisal recently reveals frame/structural damage throughout and nobody wants it. The deceptive business practices used by Honda of Burleson Texas are repulsive. The car is great, runs good, has no mechanical flaws etc. but we will never be able to part ways with it.
My 2008 Honda Civic LX have a 10 years Rust Proof warranty. I brought it back every year for rust inspection and touch up, now I found out they never did a single thing to touch up. As when I took my car to Canadian Tire to change 4 new tires, when they finished, they said I should take some pictures and show it to Honda. The underside of the car is all rust, he said when you touch it, it is bone dry, they never put anything or do any touch up. I called the manager of Honda, he said unless there is a hole, they do not do anything, so I said, it said touch up as necessary, so what the heck? Then he said when I bring in the car for transmission fluid change next week, he will look at it with me together. I took 6 pictures of all the rust underside. So disappointed with them, if they are not doing any touch up, what do they mean by 10 years rust proof warranty. It is just a complete ripoff.
We were denied warranty coverage by Honda America since they claim we did not follow the correct procedures for towing as outlined in the manual. I followed the procedures each day we traveled but they still denied coverage. Has anyone else suffered this injustice? Consequences - we are out of pocket $ 6,400. The dealer in New Orleans that did the work is Premier Honda.

I got a whole lot of control and confidence while riding on the bike. Courtesy of its new tyres, suspension and brakes, I find the journey to be a smooth and flawless affair. The retro looking charming bike offers a care free ride and this is one of the major reasons for opting for this. Riding experience on this is quite a relaxed and flawless affair for sure for which I consider myself to be extremely lucky. Availing a relaxing ride overcoming the bumps gets much easier. I have fallen for the front end style of the bike in specific.
Last month, I cant remember the exact date, something has happen to my car. My son, 7 years of age, named, Muhammad Afdhal **, while playing with center rears seat belt has accidentally squeezed his stomach. My husband had tried to loosen the seat belt but unfortunately it further tightened his stomach. The situation at the time was so tensed because I can see my son facing difficulties in breathing. Two peoples around who were trying to help my husband said that we have no choice but to cut the seat belt. Without further delay, my husband ran to the nearest petrol station for cutter. Luckily, he managed to get it and straight away cut the belt. My husband managed to rescue my son but it became a nightmare for me because your service center had informed me that Honda is not liable to replace the belt. In other words, I have to pay by myself.
I bought a new 2009 Honda Accord in April 2009. On November 18, 2011, I took my car to Crest Honda in Nashville, TN to look at the leather on the drivers seat for premature wear and verify coverage for repair or replacement under warranty. The car had 35,893 miles on it and I had owned it for ~31months. Crest took a photo of the premature wear and the service rep said he would review my issue with the service provider.In December, Honda customer service called me and stated wear on leather seats are considered normal wear and tear and therefore not covered under warranty. I intend to file a BBB claim against Crest Honda and Honda. By denying my claim, they are admitting the leather will show significant signs of wear before 36,000 miles. Leather should not be considered a wear and tear item but should be covered under defective materials if it shows wear within the warranty period.
When you will ask an experienced rider, they will name the top brand Honda for the best ATVs.. People driving ATV from their childhood are well aware of the importance of it and how every little detail or feature can benefit the rider, and Honda is the brand that always comes to mind.
2011 Honda Pilot - I was surprised to learn that my accelerator is controlled by a computer. Recently, the TP sensor was not working properly and the car had a mind of its own. I had no control over the car. The car took off ... power steering failed and brakes locked up. I was, thankfully, in my driveway. I cant believe this is not a warranty issue. Honda should replace my sensor for free. They just reset the sensor and charged me $126. I am trying to sell the car. I fear this will happen again soon. Please consider this situation.
I own a 2009 Honda Civic. I have had multiple issues with the drivers side lock and the trunk lock. I have had it replaced once under warranty. But the drivers side lock broke again after the warranty was expired. I have had to replace my brake pads before even reaching 30,000 miles. And recently received a letter in the mail saying I can make a claim for a class action suit due faulty brake pads that were applied on the Honda Civics from 2006 to 2009. The local Honda dealership, Spreen Honda, was offering free oil changes to people for a good review on Yelp, desperate times for Honda. Such cheap accessories and parts applied by such a major corporation, thanks for exploiting the middle class.
Im going to sum this up as quick as possible. We bought a car in January of 2016 and it started to smell in March. Well me and my girls got sick and this smell wouldnt go away. It was in everything and we had to get rid of a few things. So I took it into the dealership on 4/20 and they said theyd get it cleaned up and back to me... Well its now 6/23... which is 6 months later and I still dont have my car! Yes there was a leak in the back that they couldnt find so they sealed up the whole back end. Then they found mold in multiple places, but Ive had to fit the whole way. Customer service is horrible at the dealership and at Corporate. We bought a 75,000 car! Brand new and we got sick! Mold can kill you. No one seemed to care, and all they do is pass the blame. No one ever returns calls or admits anything. They just blame someone else. And now theyre not wanting to give us the full amount of our loan back?! Im not losing any money from this! We did nothing wrong! We were sold a bad product that couldnt be fixed! And now Honda and the dealership are trying to jip us out of money?! Weve been making payments even when we dont have the car?!!
I have owned the 2020 Honda Passport for 4 months. It has been in the shop more than I’ve had it, trouble with clunking in drivetrain when backing (not constantly). Previous pulling to the right issues, Break safety light issues, rattle in steering wheel, now stereo speakers on one side going out. Honda won’t back their product, won’t allow dealer to replace parts to try to get it resolved. I don’t trust this vehicle. So disappointed in Honda. Our last pilot lasted 193,000 miles and 13 years I loved it. I should’ve just kept it!
I purchased a 2019 NEW Honda HRV Touring in January 2019. I returned it the same day because the backup camera screen and voice commands were not working properly. The main touchscreen unit was replaced. Since January, the screen has been replaced again (total of 3 units), the microphone, and the Hands Free Link module have all been replaced within 10 months. After 30 days total at the dealership for repairs and four attempts I opened a claim with Honda for the Buy Back Program. Now after an additional two trips to the dealership to diagnose my vehicles problem including a diagnosis by the Field Service engineer, my claim has been denied. My vehicle still has the exact same problems that it had on the day I bought it.I was told by Honda that there was a well known software problem with my car. Honda was aware and working on a fix. My claim rep could not give me a estimated date for the fix (told me to check every month at the dealership to see if the fix was available) and she could not guarantee the fix would fix my car. She could not give me a reason why the dealership didnt know about the known problem and her answer for why parts were being replaced was that it was simply done as a courtesy to me. Yet, as a courtesy Honda would not buy back my car. The claim rep would not give me a written denial. She stated, It is Hondas policy to not provide any information in writing about your claim, only to give you the claim number.On the SAME day I was being told all of the information from the Honda claim rep the FSE told the dealership that the problem was a frayed USB cord he saw laying in my car. Not plugged in, not in use, just laying in the car. His suggestion was to not use the cord and see how things go. I have never had an issue with Apple Carplay not working. What I have repeated had problems with is not even an option when the cord is in use. The dealership duplicated the problem without any cords being plugged in. Now I have a 10 month old car that has options I am paying for, but do not work. The options may never work. I guarantee this. I will NEVER buy another Honda vehicle. I will never recommend Honda vehicles. I hope this review helps someone decide NOT to purchase a Honda.
I got Honda Jazz on April last year. I had trouble within two months, no rear brakes. The dealership kept lying and saying nothing was wrong. Four times I went back with no help. Every time I put the handbrake on incline, nothing happens. I told them about this. I took the car to another garage for MOT, it failed on rear brakes. I went to the dealer and showed them the report. They refused to do anything. I paid for repairs myself, returned to the dealer with the bill and asked to see the owner. The staff member refused to get him and was rather intimidating and aggressive. The repairs showed the rear calipers were not working, only one pad was contacting with the disc, so I was driving a dangerous car. I would like something done before I take matters further. I think it is disgusting the way I have been treated. Trading standards said I would have had case if I had gone to them sooner.
Honda dealership is great. But when it comes to the actual corporation they have no value for the customer. I got a 2016 Honda Civic fully equipped and I took my brother as well and got the same car as me, so technically we bought two at the same time and within the 3rd month my car started to get system errors, brake system problem, abs system problem, anti-lock braking system problem, tire pressure monitor system problem and much more. I took in the shop I would say 7 - 8 times and was at the shop of total of 35 days at the shop and the problem was still there. So I called Honda corporation and made a claim. The gentlemen that took my case did not call me back or anything. So I got an Attorney because I didnt know what else to do. I was missing work, couldnt take my son to school. Its been almost 7 months and Honda still giving a hard time.I trade in my previous car. I was down $4,000 and I was fine with it because I thought I was getting a better car. Till today with downpayment and car payments Ive put close to $10,000 and Honda is just trying to give me $4,000 back. This was my first new car and gave me the worse first car experience. So if you get a car from Honda just make sure its not a lemon because I assure you they wont treat you the same way as if you where a new customer. I would never get a Honda car ever again.
I purchased my 2021 Honda Accord on June 19, 2021 and on June 21, 2021 my transmission went out after 200 miles! I took it into a Honda dealership and was told they would need to replace the transmission, which I was not happy about having a service record on my brand new Honda! I called Hondas customer service on June 22 and let them know the situation and they created a case. I have yet to receive a call back after countless follow ups and voicemails to my case worker! I created a new case on July 14 due to the lack of response and I just received a follow up today 8/5. I have always enjoyed my Hondas but this poor experience has me looking at Toyota going forward. One thing I will not stand for is poor communication and customer service. My case workers voicemail says it may take up to 14 days to respond and that was 45 days ago. Ridiculous!
2009 Honda Odyssey purchased out right. From the very first day this van pulled slightly to the left and would on regular occasions pop the steering wheel right out of my hands. I took it to the dealer so many times I lost count. I even had it reported to the general manager for doing a service test drive on the van. They’re claiming nothing was wrong. Yet this would happen out of the blue and catch me off guard. I felt very unsafe in this van and they would not trade it or swap it out. I now wonder if I had financed it if they would have paid better attention. The consequences were I got fed up with Saratoga Honda messing me around. The van spent more time there than in my possession, so I traded it for a Hyundai and have had zero issues. In fact the service department in Queensbury, NY is far better than Honda in Saratoga. More polite more knowledgeable of their product and they treat me like a human being not an empty-headed female which is the way I felt I was being treated in Saratoga. No more business from me. I take my money elsewhere.
The Honda Acura is ergonomically superior to other vehicles I have owned. It is very user friendly in its location of buttons for cruise control, lights, and dashboard. Comfy and roomy seats. Gas consumption is very satisfactory. Great pick up and braking. It is a very reliable vehicle and have had no major repairs needed.
My family and I have owned several Hondas. I have only had minor issues with my Honda. I have never had to put a lot of money in it to fix it. These cars just seem to last a lot of years and miles. Ive had other vehicles that didnt last as long as my Hondas. In all they are very good vehicles.
I bought my Civic Sedan LX 2012 on February 4, 2012 from the Honda dealer at Manhasset. I only have a little over 5,000 miles on it because I mostly only use it to commute to work during the weekdays. One of the reasons I bought a Honda car instead of any other was because of its high standard and reputation for making great motor vehicles that don’t break down easily. This past week, my car, for the second time within a year, had to go back to the shop for maintenance and repairs due to water leaking into the gas tank. The first time this happened was back on September 2, 2012.I had the car taken to Hillside Honda to be inspected. When they looked into it, they found that water had gotten into the gas tank. Ive been going to the same gas station near my house ever since I bought this car, and nothing like this ever happened before either to me or anyone who goes there. My family, friends and co-workers all blamed Honda for a manufacture defect. But even though I felt bad about this case, I didnt blame Honda at all and in fact, finished off paying off for the car this past January 8th - 11 months after I bought the car and much earlier than the initial 3 year plan I signed up for. Then now, only a few months later, the same thing happened.I can only deduce that either I believe there was a mechanical deficiency, to begin with, in the car when I originally bought it, or when I had the car fixed and the people at Hillside Honda said that they put all new parts; they put the same ones back because the exact same thing happened. It’s a brand new model and I demand something be done about this because now I have a phobia about driving this car, and because I don’t know when or where my car might stop. Safety should be a priority on any vehicle. Luckily both times, I was near my house when this happened; God knows what could have happened if the car chose to stop on the highway. If something like this happened 5 years after I bought the car, I would surely take responsibility for it; but how can something like this happen twice within the first year?This is unacceptable and totally unfair for me to have to take responsibility for. Not only do I want Honda to recall this vehicle and pay for the costs in having to repairing this vehicle for breaking down both last time and this time, but I would also like a refund for the car itself. If I didnt care much about having to constantly care for my car, I would have bought a used model and at a significantly lower price. I trusted Honda’s integrity even after last September’s incident, which made me pay off the rest of the car without any further doubts; but now, I know I made a mistake in thinking so.
My parts are on critical back order for repairs for my brand new 2021 CRV. My car has been in the shop since October and Honda has yet to reimburse my car payment or call me back regarding a loaner!!!
There is an ignition switch recall - Same make, Same model, Same year as my Honda Civic, but they will not repair my ignition switch because my VIN doesnt match the recalled VINs, even though they have the diagnostic from the Honda tech saying that it IS, in fact, faulty and needs to be changed to avoid further DYING in the middle of a busy intersection or interstate! When I contacted American Honda, they told me that it was just Coincidental and even DENIED that that was the case until I had PAPERS showing that it was from their very own technicians! Jerks.
I bought brand new Honda Accord EX-L in 2014 March. It suddenly wouldnt start. Battery was brand new. Had it towed to Honda dealer and they said starter is gone - brushes inside are corroded, which is a component failure, they charged me a lofty $ 750 for this repair. I called Honda and they said they couldnt do anything since this was out of warranty. Dont ever buy a Honda.
2008 Honda Civic EX - Sept. 2013 with 105,000 miles, the AC intermittently would not work. Refrigerant was good. Eventually by early 2015 would hardly work at all. Taken to Honda dealer where I purchased the car new. There were metal shavings that looked like sand in the system. $3,800 to repair. Wife drove the car exclusively so heres what most likely happened. Compressor went bad in 2013 but still worked and probably made some noise at some point and should have been replaced then. Our fault to some degree, but the point is these compressors only have a shelf life. Ive had numerous Hondas and never had compressor problems. Wish I had known, would have never bought the car. Also, I talked to the service rep and he advised me that HR-V have the same problem. Will do everything possible to have Honda reimburse all who had/will AC compressors going bad.
What a joke. I leased a car from here for 3 years. 6 months before my lease was up I tried going to Honda because I needed a bigger car. They wanted to work no type of deal with me. Said wait out lease blah blah then told me my Honda loyalty could get me far? But clearly did not. I ended up going to Chevy. Worked out an amazing deal for me and I returned my Honda early and under the miles I was suppose to return it with. Of course Honda could fathom I went somewhere else and charged me a nice 375 which was explained to me, Oh that’s because you didn’t get another car with Honda... like what? I returned your car mint condition under miles and EARLY. You charge me a fee for not staying with you when you didn’t want to work anything out with me when I tried? A joke! Can’t stand this company and I tell all my family and friend to stay clear of Honda.
I was involved in an automobile accident in a 2004 Honda CRV recently and have a couple of questions. My vehicle was setting at a complete stop and was struck in the rear at approximately 55mph. Both myself and my passenger were injured. Neither of the front seat belts engaged to restrain us and even after hitting the vehicle in front of us, no airbags deployed. I am being told that in a high speed rear end collision, the seat belts and airbags are designed not to work? Is this something that your office can validate for me? Thank you for your time.
My daughter has a 2009 Honda Accord with 85k miles on it. It goes through 3 quarts of oil between oil changes. We submitted a claim even tho the warranty was out by one week but not out on mileage. They told me to take it to a Honda dealer (Ray Price) to do an oil consumption test. Which consist of a oil change (I pay for) then bring it back in around 1000 miles, they check level then report to Honda USA. Heres the problem, I took it back. It lost 3/4 qt by the calibrated eye of the mechanic looking at the dip stick, he didnt drain and measure. Also they didnt use the same weight oil as in the owners manual. The real misconception here is it loses at the same rate. It doesnt between the first 1000 miles and the 2nd 1000 miles it loses faster!!! Sometime between oil changes Ill put in 4 quarts!! My rating reflexes my appearance so far, it may change when its all said and done. Banging my head in Bangor.
3 years ago I bought a used Honda Civic from Honda of Seattle. I am the 2nd owner of the car, it had a clean Carfax, and low miles, 36100 when I bought it. So, for a car like this, I paid a high price, about $12000 after finishing paying my car loan. I recently noticed a coolant leak under my car and a couple of days later I brought it in to Honda of Bellevue for an inspection. A day later they told me that my engine block is cracked and forgot to mention that this is in fact a manufacturer defect, that HONDA admitted and for several times increased the warranty up to 10 years. They insulted me, offering me a $300 cash for the car, or to repair it for about $10000 just for labor - engine not included!I contacted Honda corporation and both dealerships here in Seattle area, they are all trying to wash their hands and not admitting to the fact that this is a MANUFACTURING DEFECT! They said, that they dont have maintenance history since I bought it. I bought this car in good faith, from a reputable dealership, thinking that it will serve me for many years if I treat it well, change oil and filters in time, which I DID! But I dont think its my fault they tried to cut corners to make the car cheaper and then realized that they messed up.All 2006 to 2009 Civics are in the position to have this issues at one point. For me it happened at 65k miles for others at 19k. Whatever the mileage, it will ALWAYS BE a MANUFACTURER DEFECT and HONDA should have the decency to warranty every person that bought this car, regardless of mileage and not just for 10 years. So, next time youre thinking to go to a Honda Dealership, to buy a car, thinking they are there for their clients...think twice. They are there to sell you a car, not to support you when you have a problem with it. Im very disappointed in HONDAs dealership dismissing attitude and lack of care in giving their clients the support they need when needed!
The gear handle of my car, Honda City GXI (automatic), has been damaged. I have ordered a new one but there was no response from the Apex Honda Showroom, Kurla, since the last two months.
I purchased a brand new Honda CRV from the United States in 2008. Right from the beginning, I thought it was a bit noisy underneath and the problem still persists. The dealer in the U.S is not prepared to help. The dealership in Ghana says I need to change the suspension and shocks and I dont believe that this is the case, especially when the road which I use to drive to work and back is tarred. Please advice on what to do since its still under warranty.
I HAVE BOUGHT 5 HONDAS IN 6 YEARS. All were no trouble until this 2017 CRV would not start on May 16, 2019 in my garage. Battery dead. I was given two options, have it towed or jump it & bring it in. I charged it up a bit and drove it in to the dealer. They checked battery on a gizmo and said it was OK. I advised them I had checked the battery also and found one dry cell that was burned looking and three cells that were milky. My 40 years experience as a certified Auto mechanic meant nothing to these zomby robots. Took car home and was dead again. I went out and bought a battery so the wife could use the car. Whole day lost, 165$ gone and was advise they could not do anything for me. Called Honda customer care, same garbage. One excuse after the other not to cover the issue. I advised the Dealer that if the mechanic did not have a hydrometer and only uses the gadget to check batteries then they need a mechanic that will invest in a hydrometer. Honda will no longer have our yearly purchase to look forward to as my money is good other places. Honda is now a forbidden word in our home.
I took my Honda to a dealership to show them the paint coming off my car. They referred me to Honda C/S. I filed a claim and they told me someone would respond in two days. That was over a week ago. I talked to Mgr. Paul ** in Gainesville, FL and Im still waiting for an answer. The paint is stripping off the hood, roof & fenders. They are calling it Clearcoat. It is only 8 yrs old not 20 yrs old. This is unacceptable.
Honda allowed car rentals for the driver side airbag recall due to exploding metal fragments injuring and killing individuals. It states in the recall that it can do that to the driver and others in the cab. Honda will not allow car rentals for the passenger side airbags and tell you just to not seat in the passenger seat. It has been asked of Honda if there was a chance that it might deploy if hit in front of car. No answer. I then ask American Honda Customer Service to send me something in writing that it will not deploy and I am not gambling with hurting myself or others in the back seat. They will not.I called Russell Honda in North Little Rock, AR and I am told that they could not sign anything either because he was not sure or that it could be possible that the sensor could be signaled. Then you start the customer service case manager and they put you to the fast track and never hear from them again and no answers. So I am to gamble and drive my vehicle until that part comes in and cross my fingers. I am not a good gambler. So Honda I believe needs to stand up and be responsible and allow for loaner cars until they fix this problem.

After going about 5 blocks or so, he suddenly remembered that he forgot something at home, so I had to make a U-turn and go back home. On the way back, the car slowly puttered to a stop. Naturally, I thought it was because I was out of gas or something, but when I looked at the gas meter, it was more than half full. I started up the car again, and although the engine turned on, the car was shaking by itself ... until it again sputtered to a halt. I tried starting the engine a few more times but after a few more tries, it was futile. Luckily, at that time, there werent too many cars around and there was miraculously a parking space nearby, so the two guys managed to push the car safely into that spot. I called my insurance company (Geico) and they towed my car two days later and took it back to the dealer.After they inspected the car, they found that water had gotten into the gas tank. They suspected that it was from a bad gas station who pumped water along with their gas. Ive been going to the same place near my house ever since I bought this car, and nothing like this ever happened before. I got the car towed and taken back to the dealer. Surprise, surprise, they said that there was water in the gas tank. What Id like to know is how so much water could possibly get into the tank to make the car want to stop. I realized that the night before this happened, it rained a lot in my neighborhood, but surely, it couldnt have all gotten into my car. One of the repairmen suspected that someone poured water into the gas tank on purpose. Only I have the key to my car. Why would I want to do something as stupid as pouring water into my car, not once, but twice, and have to go through all this trouble and waste a ton of money? It also couldnt have been an outside job, because by the hole where you put the gas nozzle, theres no scratch mark or any visible proof that someone tried to break in to do something bad on purpose.Because of this, not only was I late to work, but so was my sister who works in the same office I do. She was with me in the car at that time and is still suffering from being scared due to the cars convulsions. In both cases, luckily, the car stopped near my house, or rather, in a vicinity without too many cars. God knows what could have happened if the car chose to stop on the highway. The technician who looked at my car was dumbfounded as to how something like this could happen, not once, but twice. I suspect that this second time was due to bad workmanship last time by someone who was working on my car and left a hole for water to drip and accumulate. There is no other explanation.I bought the newest model of this Honda car because I wanted the best of the best. If I didnt care too much about having to take care of my car breaking down every so often, I would have bought a used car at a much more affordable price. Because of these incidents, my insurance fee went up from $1,936.42 to $1,981.85, but more than that, now I have a phobia about driving, because I dont know when or where my car might stop. Its not even a year old and Ive kept it in good condition. There is no reason for this. The first time this happened in January, I had to take the bus from my home in Flushing back and forth to work (in the Bronx) every day for about two weeks since my car was in the shop getting repaired, and now it looks like I need to do that again. The top reason for buying the car in the first place was to help me commute to work, but if it cannot fulfill that purpose, its pretty much of no use to me. I dont wish to waste any more money paying for stuff like this.
I have a stock Honda Ruckus. It is a 49cc work horse. From ripping down to the store for beer to loading up the deck with firewood, and driving it into my backyard. I dont think it can be beat! I weigh 175lb and can hit 40mph. It may not be the fastest on the road but it does get the respect of the road. I run premium gas and keep the oil change and any other maintenance up to date. The only con, it does not like to start in the colder months. I was offer a trade for a 125 Kawasaki, NOT A CHANCE!
Recently, I bought (April 2011) a 1997 Honda Passport with a blown head for next to nothing. I purchased the vehicle for my two kids to get back and forth from college. I then dumped a couple grand into fixing it. Then in June, I noticed big chunks of rusted steel on my driveway under where the Passport was parked. I crawled underneath it, only to find that the chassis was so rusted out in places that I could place my whole fist into the holes (especially right under the passenger seat/door). I was also able to grab handfuls of rusted and corroded steel from inside the cavity along the chassis.I immediately called the Honda Recall Hotline, and they indicated to me that there was no recall for the 1997 Chassis, but there was a recall starting in 1998 on the frame. “Not to worry”, they said. I was to take it to the dealer to have them access the situation and determine next steps. So, I parked the vehicle in the driveway, and prohibited any one from driving it. I have been so busy with work, but I finally got around to calling the dealer in my area (Roush). They instructed me to set an appointment for them to do a diagnostic check. Oh, and that they will have to charge me for the diagnostic analysis. I told them that it was a bunch of bunk having it; I did not want to pay them any fees. All one has to do is get on their knees; look under the car, and come to the diagnosis that I came to that there is obviously a defect for the steel to be so rusted, that you could put your fist into several areas. Obviously, you do not need to be a rocket surgeon to figure it out, nor do you need to place it on a rack to make an official diagnosis, let alone charge me for it. I told them that I would send them 1000 FREE diagnostic pictures that they could use for their analysis.Since that did not get me anywhere, I asked for Hondas number because I wanted to chat with a regional/district manager in order to obtain approval for the dealer to waive the diagnostic fee. I got the runaround from Heather in recalls. She said that I needed to go back to the dealer; since my vehicle had no recall, she could not obtain approval for a free diagnostic check. She also would not provide me with the district managers name for Honda. She said to me that I needed to get that information from the dealer.I then proceeded to voice my concern on this, and told her that the vehicle isnt safe to be driving even to the dealer. She offered absolutely no concern, nor any valuable customer service. Based on this Honda experience and previous experience with a GMC vehicle, I can tell you GMCs customer service department blows Hondas away. So, now I have to call Roush back in order to obtain the Honda district managers name and number. It makes absolutely no sense and is totally a runaround. I bought the Passport because it was a Honda, only to find out that it is an ISUZU.Honda evidently paid ISUZU to manufacture the Passports which was Hondas entrance into the SUV market. Now I have what I thought was a Honda, which is actually an ISUZU. No wonder why the frame is crap. If you happen to own a Honda Passport manufactured in the years 1995 (first year), 1996 and 1997, check your chassis. If anyone else has this problem, please let me know if you have been able to rectify it with Honda.
I am the original owner of a 2013 Honda Accord EX-L. This car has never had service anywhere other than Honda dealership. Even oil changes. A few weeks ago I took it to have oil change and the recall on the battery sensor. When I got into car prior to service it would not start. The dealership told me that because the battery was involved it would do that. The problem progressively got worse until actually would not start. I took back to dealership and they told me it would cost $700.00 to replace the starter. The car has around 50 K miles on it. After I googled the issue with the recall and bad starter it seems that many other Honda owners are having this problem. I called Honda and the rep said that she has heard of this happening and was surprised but her supervisor stated that it was unrelated to the recall and will do nothing about it. I will never buy another Honda again!!! Very disappointed.
My wife and I bought this vehicle brand new. After the first 2000 miles, the tires were transmitting the street vibration into the cab. It was so loud that you cant carry a normal conversation. Furthermore the vehicle develops a weird action that stalls the engine when you try to accelerate to pass another vehicle. In both cases, we took the car to the dealership and they did nothing claiming that the diagnostic machine found nothing. Nevertheless we end up replacing the car for a 2013 Toyota Camry SE. I bought a Honda Dio in August 2011. The self-start of the vehicle stopped working within 15 days from the day of purchase. Following this, the horn, headlight dipper, and the indicators all stopped working. We had to take the vehicle to the service station several number of times. The Sudarshan Motors Service Station in Nagpur charged the battery 6-7 times and replaced it twice, yet the problem remains. The people at the service station are clueless and very rude. It is annoying to take the vehicle there and leave it for a couple of days.
There was a problem with the 2008, 2009 Honda Accord rear brakes and consumers were compensated for replacing them. I have a 2010 (which was probably manufactured in 2009) Accord and the same problem has just occurred. I too would like some reimbursement for this Honda problem.
Replaced battery 3 times in 2 years due to, in their words, not driving it enough! What a load of garbage. Then charged me for the battery and a diagnostic fee. I have E mailed numerous Honda officials to no avail. Offered a Honda gift card which is worthless as I am trading the car in for an American car due to all these problems. You have been warned!
From the beginning of my lease of the Honda Clarity fuel cell car, I had problem with the car controller board. Then, the fuel tank problem had my car towed to their Torrance, CA. location for replacement due to unavailability of the service and hydrogen fuel. Then, the water pump corrosion recall to replace the water pump. Then, the True Zero hydrogen fuel cell producer depot caught on fire and their trucks were caught on fire. Theres no hydrogen fuel and the long delay in getting the inspections and permit to re-open the True Zero hydrogen plant.Meanwhile, the consumers face horrendous problems getting through to Honda Customer service to respond to deal with the rental car situation. A lot of time burden spent by consumers like myself to get Honda to help by providing temporary rental car. Honda customer service keep telling customers to wait for their case managers to call back if you can even get through to them. Honda Clarity fuel cell lessees are paying a high monthly leasing fees to Honda and not being able to drive the car and compounded by their horrible customer service and red-tape to make consumers bear the burden of time and costs. This doesnt happen with Toyota and Hyundai fuel cell vehicles when I talked to their customers. If theres a zero rating, I would rate it zero.
