2012 GMC Acadia Denali - I went into the GMC dealer to purchase a Yukon Hybrid. I was told that they were discontinued for the 2013 model year and was recommended to look at an Acadia Denali because it had more room than a Yukon and got much better gas mileage. Boy what a mistake! I had also been entertaining the idea of a Yukon XL (think Suburban) because I wanted to make sure I had plenty of room for my growing family. I was led down a path of cost savings on fuel with the Acadia. It was posted 22 HWY and 17 City. With our mixed driving, I expected to get on the worst day - maybe 17. Instead I get 13 MPG! They tell me nothing is wrong! Please! I rent Suburbans when I travel (I rent about 100 times a year!) and I consistently get 15 MPG or better - with so much extra room! Now I am stuck with another 30 payments for this lemon.

We have a 2011 GMC Acadia, 53,000 miles later still no issues. The only issue we have had is a wiring issue. The lights didnt work right so we got it fixed. We have not had an issue since and couldnt be happier with this car. Great job GM, the only reason why these others are saying bad things about it is because they are nothing but full-blown HATERS! This car is absolutely amazing. Plus everyone knows not to bring their cars to the dealership unless its under warranty because they LIE about things that are broken or it still works they just want their money. If its under warranty sure but if not take it to a family repair shop. Overall the Acadia is WOW.

I bought 2008 Acadia brand new from the dealer in CA (bay area) barely driven in the first few years, ran out of my 5yr warranty but under the warranty miles. When I encountered water leak problems, GM didnt cover it, dealer didnt help either. Got it fixed for few thousand out of pocket. Just got traction control off/ stabilitrak system off/ check gauges, check engine light on messages... reading all the complaints over here-- its just a matter of time that I am going to get transmission and other issues.I read pretty much on all the message boards and messages about people saying there should be a recall and/or a class action lawsuit. Question is, what does it take to create a class action law suit? Why not someone start a list to see how many of us are in this situation. Fact is, GM screwed us. $40,000+ is not pocket change or a small amount for anybody to let go. I am sure everyone has worked hard for their money to buy these SUVs, expecting them to be safe and reliable. These Acadias are neither and moreover have no resell value. We got screwed. I have over fifty mailer ads from lemon law lawyers about this car. Has anyone contacted the lawyers and found any relief? I am in for a Class Action. Can someone make a list?

This is to update my review published 4/14/15 with great resolution. Thanks to General Motors recall on the Acadia Wave Plate issue I submitted a claim and after a few weeks with some negotiation I got a settlement last week that covered the cost incurred from having to replace the transmission.Thank You GM for the prompt response in my claim! This restores faith in your commitment to quality. I am very happy presently with this recall solution. I may soon be in the market for another vehicle and will again check with GM for possibly another purchase. I know there is still room to improve overall quality and reliability of products so I am changing my rating from 2 stars to 4.Regards, LB

For the past 3 months my check engine light continues to come on. I have had a complete tune up, with all spark plugs being replaced, air filters replaced, etc. Always keep levels checked and changed when needed. No real problems with the vehicle (2011 GMC Acadia) until now. Check engine light comes on repeatedly, even after work is completed. I have taken this vehicle to 3 shops for a diagnostic check. Only two had the same diagnostic results. Mostly timing chain issues, possible stretched. I dont understand why this is happening at this point. Has there been any recalls regarding this matter. I havent seen or heard of any recall.

I purchased a 2012 Acadia with 60,059 miles on it. I thought I finally found a DEAL. GMC/BUICK dealer sold it to me for 20,035. I couldnt believe it. Roughly 3-5K lower than any other dealers in this town for this car. I jumped on it... Loved the car. 3 kids... Hockey equipment... I was finally in a comfortable car that I can cruise around to every hockey rink in Minnesota.Day #3: Squeaking while breaking. Dealer gave me 4 rotors, 4 new pad. (They covered it). Day #6: Squeaking returns. Some sensor around the wheel was making it squeak. (They covered it). Day #37: Wiper control module goes out. Perfect. Its raining out. And I cant use my wipers. $189. Day #49: Alternator goes out. $775. Day #53: Struts leaking. Shopped online to get some at discount price. $180.00.So its been in the shop 5 times in 54 days. Thats an average of once every 10 days. Are you kidding me? I finally broke down and bought an american car. (Had Honda, Toyota, Nissan before). Im embarrassed to think that when the BOOM in 07-09 hit. And our auto manufacturers were going under. We bailed them out so they could make products like this. Its unreal. I love the look of the car. I love the interior. But Im not going to spend 1K every 50 days on this vehicle to have something else break. Ive contacted GMC and they have apologized that Im having this kind of luck with this car. They claim that I might have the one that always slides through. Hahaha. Are you kidding me. Hey sir. Thanks for spending 20K on your car. But you will spend about 10K in repairs because we have made a poor product.Should I sell it? Man. Id feel bad for the person that bought it from me, and has this problem. Why do you think Toyota, Honda, Hyundai all can be confident with the 10 years 100,000 mile warranty. Because they make rock solid products! GMC...I feel like you dropped the ball with this one.

We purchased a 2008 Acadia almost 2 years ago and just recently had a problem with electrical issues. No longer under warranty, we took it to our mechanic and found the electrical box behind the glove compartment was full of water. He dried it out and wrapped it up. It ran fine for a week, then the battery mysteriously had a parasitic drain and would not start. Took it back to him and today he found the tubing that houses the electrical in the drivers door full of water. After reading reviews, Im sure a dealer will do nothing but take my money and not fix the problem. This is a design flaw and apparently GM is not stepping up to the plate to fix it. Funny that after almost 2 years the problem starts. We have loved our Acadia up until this point. We have a 2,000 mile trip planned, now what? Im certainly not very happy and not sure what recourse there is. Can a class action suit be filed or has one already been filed?

I have a 2009 Acadia. We been having problems. First the transmission had to be replaced. Thank God it had a warranty. Then I had to replace the timing belt. Now I have to replace my engine fuse box because where the relay for the engine fan goes has melted from heat or something so now GMC is charging me 360$ to put one on. My GMC Acadia runs good but its gas cost me some money. I just put new tires on it and air leaks. I had to put air on them every 2 weeks or so. Well lets see what happens next.

We bought a 2011 Acadia with 78k miles on it. Ive been a GM fan my entire life and trusted the name. It seemed like a great vehicle at first. We had some minor issues here and there but nothing too bad. My first aggravations were with the engineering of the vehicle. Changing the oil is a pain and the headlight bulbs are a nightmare. The air system decided to only blow hot air on the driver side, possible deflector failure. Good times for the summer. One day the engine started knocking.Immediately we parked it and towed it to our local shop. They started it to listen to it and the engine locked up. 6 months out of warranty (90k miles on it, but over 5 years) and GMC said well youre the second owner so we cant help you. 7k to put a new engine in. Im nearly 30k into the vehicle and max trade in is about 10,500 from a GM dealer. With the original engine and the new GM engine we average about 13-14 mpg getting 16 highway. My 04 Silverado gets 17. Ill never, ever buy a GM product again.

This car has been the worst thing that has ever happened to me! Problem after problem! Transmission replaced, continued to have problems, water leaks, actually water pouring in car from dvd player and interior lights, had recall years back, said they replaced tubes, paid for this same problem a few times, then got so bad and complained, they finally sealed it all up and replaced the headliner that was completely water stained! Radio went out due to water damage and I had to pay because they said it was the fuse box! Radio and dvd worked shortly, then back and forth with nothing. I have driven car for over a year with it working/not working. When it doesnt work, no onstar either! So a lot of good the emergency phone is to me! Towed back to the shop again today! Engine light. Running horribly. Put in reverse, jumped forward, rpms shooting up, sounds like something dropped into a woodchipper from under the hood. Oh and headlight is filled with water. First and last GM I will ever own! Its a pretty looking package, but its a pandoras box. GM is bankrupting my family! Thanks GM, youre the best!

I bought a 2008 GMC Acadia in March of 2011. It was my biggest car purchase and I was very excited to buy it. It was everything I wanted and more, with lots of space for my family of 7 and many great accommodations. Last year, in Aug. 2012, I began having issues with it, water leaking, engine lights coming on and random cut offs. I took it to the dealer and they wanted me to replace the trans, which is very costly. I did not. My husband and I had the trans flushed and everything seemed to be okay again for a few months. When spring came around and rain came down, more problems began. Every time it rained, my battery was drained. Eventually, the car just stopped working. We took it to the dealer numerous times, but no one listened when I explained my thoughts that the leaking had something to do with the problem. We replaced two batteries in a week. The dealer claimed they couldnt find anything wrong with the car, but when I went to leave, the car went into battery saver mode so I took it right back. The service advisor was clearly annoyed and ignored me for the first 15 minutes I was there. I again explained my concerned that the rain and water that had leaked into my vehicle had something to do with the electrical issues I was having. He told me the two things had nothing to do with each other. A few days later, he calls and tells me that there was a leak in the front caused by the sun roof and that was causing the issues. We paid to repair that and he said that we were good to go. About a week later, the problem happened again. The dealership had our car for more than ten days (mind you, I am 7 months pregnant right now with a high risk pregnancy). This time, we worked with a person a friend recommended, and they repaired the rear moon roof at no charge for all of the inconvenience. I was very thankful for this. Unfortunately, three days and two nights rain later, my car will not start again. How is this still happening and why is this not being recalled? I cannot afford to put myself and my family at risk every time I get into my car.

With so many choices out here in SUVs I shopped for a long time and decided on the 2014 GMC Acadia SLE 2 for many reasons. I began noticing them in 2008 and everyone I spoke with about them seemed very pleased both with their performance and the comfortable ride. It has WI FI and all the whistles and bells but to be honest I dont care a thing about any of that. I care about reliability and efficiency. For a big heavy SUV it gets 27 MPG Highway if youre not a lead foot, and it is truly my dream car. It also has the towing package and can pull a 2 horse trailer loaded, or big boat etc.I purchased it in Dec. 2015 from Eagle Buick GMC in Homosassa, Florida. In the past Ive owned Jeep Cherokees, Nissans and Toyotas. But I just didnt get the comfortable ride or performance this Acadia offers. I also have to be honest. I was disappointed in the 2017 model. GMC has reduced it to be honest to a smaller version and not the ride the 2016s back to 2008 have. The new one looks more like an old souped up GMC Jimmy than an Acadia.

Our 2009 GMC Acadia had 60,000 miles when it started having mechanical issues. The GMC Acadia had placed us in catastrophic danger as the engine shut down while we were driving at 65 miles per hour on the L.I.Expressway (New York) in the late evening. However, we luckily--by the grace of God--was able to verve (steer) off the HOV lane without being injured to the shoulder lane. Many passing cars recognized our emergency situation and provided space for us to move from the HOV lane. We were stranded for about 2 hours in the late evening waiting for a tow truck. The next day, we had the car diagnosed & serviced. The technician informed us that cylinders 3 &5 were misfiring. The coil pack was blown. The water seeped in the engine and battery areas. The electrical system was comprised by the water seeping in through the front windows and front hood.In addition, the Bose stereo, navigation system, back up camera were comprised by the electrical system problem. The repairs will cost approximately $5,000 to $8,000!! This is appalling & disgusting. The warranty has ended and the repair costs are beyond our means. We are demanding GMC to buyback these LEMON GMC Acadias, as it obviously has many design flaws &mechanical flaws. SHAME ON GMC to expect consumers to continually be disrespected by design & manufacturing mistakes.

We bought our Acadia in the summer of 2017. Within 2 weeks of owning it we had to take it to the shop for motor and catalytic converter issues. Long story short, we have now owned the car for two years and have only been able to drive it/ have it parked in our driveway for 6 months. Those 6 months arent even consecutive, more like the weeks in between shop visits. During those visits numerous motors were put into the car along with new parts to whatever they could see needing fixed. At first we thought it was the shop doing a bad job but after the THIRD shop we visited, it became clear to us it is something with the car and not us. Every mechanic we have talked too says the motor for the Acadia and a couple other GMC/Chev models just don’t last past 32,000 miles. We cant even get rid of the vehicle due to the never ending check engine light and its constant engine light led to it failing inspection making the car undrivable (eventually we did get a passed inspection). Our last visit had the car pulling up 19 error readings, most involving the Transmission and Motor. There is no end to the problems on this vehicle and we have barley driven it.

First foremost I bought this car with 3 miles on it from Stadium GM Salem, Ohio in Aug of 2016- this is 2017 Acadia. Fast forward it’s March 1 of 2018. It all started driving 65mph on freeway and the dashboard says my cameras from back not working. I contact my dealer. He quickly responded saying he was unable to get me in till Monday. Ok thanks. Hang up then starts flashing airbags are in need of service. Dashboard lights are going on and off- flashing. Then I get to a red light few min later, stop and the car starts moving forward with my foot on brake. Almost causing me to hit the person in front of me. Mind you this car has a safety feature that automatically stops when I’m following someone too close -and now it moves forward on its own. Um what. Then I’m getting into turning lane to turn left into my work and it won’t stop so turn into work with foot on brake and coast and coast till it came to rolling stop.I put the car into park. I remove the keys, go to get out of the car and my door will not open. The car is still running -heat, radio, etc. My car alarm starts going off as I keep trying to open door from the inside of the car. I’m now currently locked into 2017 Acadia so instead of breaking the window I called the local cops. They arrived and was able to let me out. Ummm what if it was a 90 degree day and I have 4 kids in the car and your electric system stopped working like this so nothing like my automatic window/locks work? I would have definitely busted my driver window to get out of the car so we wouldn’t of died. In the meantime my car alarm was going off for 4 hours by itself and lights flashing etc till my lunch break. I go outside and try to attempt to start it and it’s still running! No keys. Heat/radio kinda like remote start mode has been in for 4 hours. Needless to say it will not physically start or come on. So as a mom of 4 working 2 jobs I am in need of help. Roadside service comes, picks the 2017 Acadia up - puts it on a flat bed. And takes me to my dealer. Brian their so called service manager says, “I told you I could see this car for another 4 days,” umm what??? Where would you like the tow truck driver to put the car? He tells them in the garage - goes on to tell me he doesn’t have rental. Umm what... Then he says, “Your car has 44 thousand miles on it even though it 1 year old. You will have to sit in service room till we figure out the 33 codes that came back on it. We are open till 6pm. It’s only 2:30pm.” After reading the first 9 he comes and said I’m lucky he found a rental. Awww how nice he found me a car to use out of the 200 plus on the dealership grounds. Maybe this one will not accelerate forward when my door is on the brake. Maybe this one will actually stop when my foot is on the brake. Maybe this one will not lock me inside of my own vehicle. I called the dealership for an update about a week ago. He said still wasn’t fixed, needed another part. I went to the dealership on March 20 2018 looking for help and trying to get explanations and was told nothing. Continue drinking the rental car. Mine is not safe or fixed...Fast forward to today March 22 the dealership has now almost had my car for the entire month. It is fixed- I arrived at dealership, handed my rental keys in then the service guys tells me I owe him over 6**.00. When talking to 3 different General Motors representatives in the past 22 days I was told my car has extended warranty. Don’t worry. The repairs will be taken care of.” Now yesterday the service guy Brian nowhere to be found left Another guy to tell me, “No, no. That’s not right. Your 2017 Acadia only has 3 year 36,000 miles. Even though it’s a year old it’s not covered.” So guess who doesn’t have 6**.00 to fix electrical/ 2 side modules replacement at 5:30 pm? This mom of 4 that already works 2 jobs. Mind you I just paid 879.00 car payment on the 3/18/2018 for this Acadia that I have driven in over a month.I call General Motors rep. They said under warranty - my dealer screaming at me saying it’s not and I’m not getting the keys to my car till the invoice is paid so I sat there in the service waiting area for someone to come pick me and my 2 small children up. They all left at 7:30-8:00 when dealer closes and left me sitting there until 8:40 pm. They don’t care this SUV almost killed me. They have no customer service. They actually just laughed at the fact this car is a year old and having this problem. Then to top it off he told me before he left at 7 that he’s not even sure this will fix the problem. My Acadia has failed me. My Acadia does have 44,000 miles on it at this time but I don’t care it’s a year old. I don’t care if it has 90,000 miles on it. It shouldn’t be having these problems it’s a year old.Sincerely one mom with 4 kids and 2 jobs with no vehicle because your GMC has failed me and the dealership you do business with could care less. How reassuring it is to leave someone in a dealership while they all get in their cars and go home and I sit with 2 of my children waiting on a ride. Then he says I’m not even sure this will fix it. General Motors you can keep the car.

We purchased this truck in May 2007 so we owned it for exactly 7 yrs. I intend to have it for another 18-20 months and then buy a Ford Expedition. We are DONE with GM - after owning just this one vehicle. I loved it when we first bought it. At 1 yr old, we had to replace the sway bar and bring it in for multiple recalls. But it was the first model year and the sway bar wasnt expensive, so I just shrugged it off. In 2009, the real trouble began. First the service airbag light came on. It was still under warranty so I brought it to the dealer and had them look at it - cost me $100 for them to run the code and then tell me the airbag was not covered warranty and would cost $1000 to fix. So weve been driving around with the airbag light on ever since. Then the check engine light started coming on - I brought it into the dealer and they said it was some coil, fixed it and it was good for a while. Summer 2010, check engine light came on again - again they fixed it. That Nov. we were going to FL - check engine light came on again - we had it serviced right before we left - we were driving down I95 and the light came on again. Brought it back to dealer as soon as we got back. They fixed it again this time and we were good. Until the following summer. Check engine light came on again - after being in the shop, getting car back, and light coming in again (we went through 3 loaners), they finally determined it was the timing chain. It was in the shop for almost 3 weeks. Finally we got it back and thought we were good to go - and were until the next summer (2012) the amp on the radio stopped working. Thankfully my husband was able to fix that himself. Now last May, just as we paid it off 2013 - the transmission had to be replaced. We paid for it ourselves since now it was way out of warranty. Just got the car back this morning b/c it was at mechanic the last 2 days b/c the entire front suspension had to be redone - final bill $3000. But its less than a new car - and I really want that Expedition. Hopefully now we can get through the next 18 months without any majors repairs. I am really disappointed. I had a Dodge Durango before this - I had it the same amt of time - put 187000 miles on it AND it was in an accident (this Acadia has never been wrecked). I had to put a transmission in the Durango and ball joints ($700) and a water pump ($150). Thats IT! Nothing like this Acadia has cost me. I hope I have better luck with the Expedition. We got rid of the Durango b/c the gas mileage sucked - that was one thing that really attracted us to the Acadia - and the 8 passenger seating. We have 6 kids. Anyway fingers crossed that we are in the clear now.

At 15,000 miles, the brakes and rotors had to be replaced. The service manager said that driving on gravel roads caused gravel to get in the pads. I was told if it happened again, I would have to stand the cost of repairs. 8000 miles later, the brakes had gravel in the pads and the rotors were grooved and had to be turned. I was told that I must blow the dirt off every week. The service write up person said only people driving on gravel roads were having trouble. I said the Acadia book did not say to stay off gravel roads or to blow the brakes off every week. GM has a serious defect in their design that needs to be addressed.

We bought our 2012 GMC Acadia brand new in 2012. Fast forward to now 2015....and a stack of paperwork connected to all of the recalls and repairs that we have had on this crap SUV. I have come to know the service manager at the GMC dealership on a first name basis. Our troubles began with the numerous recalls on airbags. Each time they had it in the shop for a recall they found more issues that needed to be replaced/fixed. For example on a routine oil change they found that the oil was spewing all over the engine drive shaft so they replaced the seal to that. I am not sitting in front of all of my paperwork right now as it is in the glove box of our Acadia that now sits at the dealership getting more extensive repairs done on it. Last week I was getting in my car to take my son to practice and noticed a loud weeeeeering sound when I started the car. It would get louder upon my accelerating. I called the GM dealership to tell them of the sound and they said I can bring it in to the dealership in the morning. So we drop it off to let them diagnose the issue. We leave in one of their rental cars only to get a phone call an hour later telling us that they found the car to not register that it had any power steering fluid. Upon further investigation they see that the pump/seal burst causing some axle now to need to be replaced and the power steering pump needed replaced as well. All for a whopping 1800.00! The service manager said he spoke to GM and they agreed to cover 75% of the costs for this. Weird but ok. Then on the day we are suppose to go pick up the Acadia they call us to tell us the truck is still making the weeeeering sound and so they looked further and now the alternator needs replaced too! Are you freaking kidding me!????? This car has 49,000 miles on it! It is kept in a garage all day/night. The oil is changed regularly. WTH! We drive this car to basically run kids around town. Thats it! I am NEVER in my life going to buy another GM vehicle! I will forever be loyal to my Hondas!!!!! GM your Acadia should be taken off the floor and revamped completely! We are a family who bought a brand new vehicle so we could have piece of mind and not worry about if our SUV would break down and nickel and dime us. We will trade this car off ASAP and never look back (unless a class action law suit comes to surface). We would happily join in on any lawsuit going on if there is one. In fact we may contact one anyway to see what our options might be.

We purchased our vehicle new and have been pleased with it except the transmission. It never, ever sounded right when shifting. This vehicle has only 55,000 miles. We were on our way to Wisconsin to visit family recently when, after shifting into reverse, we heard this very loud noise. We thought we hit something but found out quickly that it was the transmission. After discussing what our best options were, we decided to have it towed back to our local dealer at a cost of $528. Then renting a car to return home, we received the bad news that the repair would cost $2000. We asked the dealer if they reported these kinds of repairs to GM and they said not when its out of warranty. We will think long and hard before we buy another GM vehicle and we certainly cannot recommend them to family and friends.

I purchased a brand new GMC Acadia 5 years ago and I paid 36,000.00. Things started to break during the second year. For example, the main control switch to get windows down just stop working and I had only one option replace paying a high price. Everything is overprice since the parts to the labor $120 per hour. Later during the beginning my third year with the car the transmission stop working and it had to be rebuild. I wonder why a 3 years old car running 18 miles a day just go wrong with the transmission. 40000 miles after the repair the transmission went wrong for second time and the cost is about 4 grands to get it fixed. Last but not least, my radio stop working and the dealer just can as always replace the part for the high price of 600. I found a brand new radio online from another GMC owner for a lower price and when I connected it is LOCKED. Guess what $180 to unlock my radio. Why, didnt I paid for it. Why just nor releasing the code to the new owner? In this one it comes to my mind this example. Go to an electronic store (Best Buy etc.) and purchase a flat S. TV. Will you be happy if you move and your TV is locked and you have to call Sony and pay to unlock it. It just does not make sense for me. So I paid 36000 for a car that the radio is not my property. I am selling my GMC and I will never purchase any car from GMC. I recommend everyone to walk away from this company that does not respect costumer and it play unfair games to take your money away.

Purchased my acadia in october 2008 built custom from factory. I love my truck, my idea was to drive it for 200,000 miles. But at 42,000 miles the transmission went out, all types of other repeated problems, but was absorbed thru the extended gmpp warranty I paid for. Now right after my 95,000 mile warranty is up, Ive moved into my next round of problems. At 105,000, transmission control module goes out 1,200$, water pump replacement (free) and thermostat replacement 480$, front end rack & pinion and struts 600$, car shuts off, all types electrical system going crazy. Today Im told 680 for a fuse box. I love the style and idea of the acadia but the company and dealers and crooks. I have an 08 kia optima I bought new at the same time. It has 90,000 miles on it and all I do to it is change the oil and they gave me free lifetime oil changes for that!!! I WILL NEVER BUY AMERICAN AGAIN!!!!!

I unfortunately own 2 GMC Acadias a 2009 and a 2011. I bought them in the same year due to our old vehicles breaking down. I wish I had the old rusty vehicles back. I work on these 2 vehicles constantly. On the 2009 Acadia I have replaced the transmission, water pump, throttle body, radio amplifier, hood support, steering rack inner and outer tie rods, sway bars, strut assemblies, spark plugs, gas cap, and the list goes on. It is sitting in the driveway now since it has a jerking power issue when we dropped the kids off at school this morning. The 2011 has not been as bad yet but has also had a new water pump, and I cannot get the steering wheel to stop vibrating when driving on the expressway even after getting the wheels balanced rotated and anything else I could think of.

I purchased my 2008 GMC Acadia in January of 2012. I loved this vehicle because of the features, space, and overall I thought I could trust GMC. Plus, I was expecting my first baby and thought this would be a great family vehicle. I never noticed that my car charger did not work, thought it was the charger but after 4 of them it turns out it was the truck! The dealership did not want to fix it. Then I noticed there was a noise in the tires, dealership wanted to charge just to look at it. Then, the windows wouldnt go down, now, the darn thing wont start! When I am driving, the truck wont go! This is so darn dangerous and GMC tells me I have to fix it myself because they are not responsible. My truck wont start and its the gas pump that was defective from the get go. I will NEVER buy GMC again. They need to take responsibility for the garbage they sold.

Bought a new 2014 Acadia Denali - almost $60K. After 8 months, the driver’s seat started making a Clicking noise when I shifted my weight slightly. It was loud and often enough that passengers asked what that noise was. Called the dealer I bought it from, but they were booked up for a week. Took it to another dealer and explained the problem. He said it was the seat tracks and that it was a very common complaint. He could replace the tracks, but that I would be back in three months with the same complaint. Since it was a warranty issue, I told him to order several sets because I would expect them to be replaced. He told me that he would only replace them once, and that I should go back to the dealer that I bought the truck from as he was not about to use up his warranty allocation on me. GM does everything in their power to sell you a vehicle. However, they fall short on support and service. After owning 3 GM vehicles in the past, this will be my last GM product.

We too had to put in a new transmission as well as problem with steering wheel and stability track. We have put in close to $7,000 into this car that we paid $42,000 custom ordered. I thought at first it was because ours was being built when GMC went on strike but after reading comments thats not the case. Now we just find out that the piston is shot and we now have to put in a new engine with not even having 200,000 miles on it! This is crazy. GMC should be reimbursing us for this cost. The sad thing is I love the style and comfort of it just not all the extra money we have had to put into it due to GMC poor engineering. Please if anyone knows of a class action suit against them for this let me know. This is not right! They know they have a problem with it and wont make things right.

We have had multiple problems with our 2008 GMC Acadia. The one that we will be bringing it in for for the 3rd time is a leaky sunroof. In hard rains, it leaks internally leaving us with a very soaked passenger side floor and electrical issues - the first time the car wouldnt shut off even after removing the key. Ive researched this and have found multiple complaints from this model year and others. The dealership claims its not a manufacturers problem. The first time I brought it in and told them the issue (leaking sunroof), they claimed the water was coming up from underneath the car. I went to pick it up on a day with heavy rain. Before leaving the dealership, I tried turning it off and it continued to run even with the key removed - service person was very embarrassed especially after I told him the issue and they said I was wrong. Took it in again with the same problems and they said the sunroof drain was clogged. That was last fall. Today we had a hard rain. The floor is soaked again. My biggest complaint is the dealership/manufacturer not owning up to the problem. As I said, there are numerous blogs with the same complaints, but they wont own up to it. I hate even looking at them, i.e., dealership, any more.

This is our second ownership of a GMC Acadia since it was rolled out in 200
This is our second ownership of a GMC Acadia since it was rolled out in 2007. As a family member of a former GM Employee, we purchased a 2007 GMC Acadia under the GM Employee program. That vehicle was plagued with problems. DVD player issues, fuel injectors, radiator, engine coils, trim rattles, the list goes on. The problems were so bad that the car was being taken to the dealership monthly and in some cases weekly. In 2009, we reached out to GMC at the advice of our service manager. GMC offered us 3 free oil changes for our troubles. Hardly a repayment for all the problems we had with the vehicle. To make a long story short, I contacted the BBB, filed a complaint and GM purchased the vehicle back as a Lemon. In 2009, using the refund from the buyback through the GM employee program, we purchased another GMC Acadia. This time the current 2009. We were told by the dealership that all of the issues that plagued the initial roll out had been fixed. This is certainly not the case. Again, we have had the same problems with the car being in and out of the dealership on monthly and sometimes weekly basis. Fortunately, they have all been covered under warranty until this most recent wave of problems.Several of these issues have put my family and me in great danger. Very early on in the car, when the fuel injectors broke, we were traveling home from vacation when the vehicle powered down on its own (to protect the engine) in the middle of a very busy freeway, I could not pull it over. We were stuck with semi-trucks racing past and my children crying in the back seat. All I could do was pray we didnt get smashed from behind while we wait for a tow truck. Another time is when the wave plate exploded in the transmission. I was driving my newborn baby home from the hospital! My wife, fresh out of a C-section, and my 5 day old newborn are stuck on a freeway because the transmission broke (which GM knew about because they issued a Special Warranty for its repair.)For the past month, my car has been at the dealership, due to catalytic converters that are clogged and needing to be replaced, then the timing chain needs to be replaced (which GM issues a special warranty to cover the cost) and now I am being told that the oil pump, pickup tube, and oil screen is filled with sludge and will cost me $1,600 to replace. I change my oil every 3,000 to 4,000 miles or when the oil gauge on the vehicle says 50% remaining. How on earth is there that much sludge. Turns out, after doing an internet search, that this is a common problem with the Acadia and there are pages and pages of customer complaints saying the exact same thing! All of which GM denies.GM knows the Acadia is bad. My service rep says he has never seen a vehicle with so many special warranty items issued on the car. My car needs to be purchased back as it is unsafe and unreliable and GM says they will give me $2,000. Sad considering I have given them 2 chances now. GM will not stand behind their products or do the right thing. They have forever lost a customer.

I am a GMC 2008 Acadia owner. I have seen many forums related to the above subject. I am in a very similar situation. I have heard the whine or moan type noise when I would turn the steering wheel. I took my Acadia in the GMC dealer in Merced, CA. They quoted me an outrageous amount of $1,800.00+ to have it fixed. It is out of warranty and I did not have the funds to pay for the work/parts. Now my A/C has went out. I took it in to a local radiator shop and they informed me it was caused by the power steering line making contact with the A/C line and has caused a hole in it. The part for the A/C line is over $700.00. I am at a loss here and have nowhere else to turn to for help on this vehicle. As it stands now, I am currently out of an A/C that was caused by the power steering line. As I understand by reviewing many forums, this is a known issue that many of GMC Acadias have had. Desperately seeking assistance on this from GMC.

I purchased a 2012 GMC Acadia from the used vehicle department of Cole McNatt GMC in Gainesville, Texas. Shortly after purchase of the Vehicle, I noticed that the Vehicle began shaking while shifting. This led me to believe that there was an issue with the Vehicle’s transmission, which was confirmed by my mechanic.Below is a timeline of my correspondence with GM: Initial call to GM on 11/20. Case number given #**. Spoke to representative and told him there was a transmission issue diagnosed by my mechanic. Watson Transmission in Denison, TX that could potentially be covered under warranty. GM Representative indicated that there could be coverage assistance if issue was similar to Wave Plate and recall transmission for similar model vehicles. GM Representative also indicated that GM would likely provide financial assistance due to the fact that the vehicle was under the mileage limit for warranty coverage (despite being a few months out of the time limit). Was advised by Representative to bring vehicle into a GMC dealership.11/21 brought vehicle to my local GM dealership, Parkway Buick GMC in Sherman, Texas. A week later I was told the vehicle transmission would need to inspected in order to identify issue to submit to GM for coverage. I was informed that the charge to disassemble and diagnose the issue, $1,000, would be my responsibility until coverage was determined; the dealership. Based on the statement from the GM Representative that GM would likely provide financial assistance, I decided to proceed. 12/6 Dealership indicated the transmission would need to be replaced and GM had denied warranty claim. I contacted GM and was told the claim was denied but a new ticket number was given to escalate to Senior Analyst. Senior Analyst determined no coverage.Parkway Buick GMC gave me the option of paying to have the Vehicle put back together (in addition to the $1,000 we had to pay to take it apart) or replacing the transmission altogether. As it did not seem prudent (financially or practically) to reassemble the Vehicle with a known transmission issue, I elected to have Parkway Buick GMC replace the transmission (at a cost of nearly $5,000). Had I not been encouraged by the GM Representative that assistance would be provided, I would not have proceeded, at that time, with the initial disassembly and inspection, as my family was not prepared for the financial burden of transmission replacement. After researching this specific problem, I have learned that this is a common issue with the Acadia model vehicle. I believe that the failure of the Vehicle’s transmission was a manufacturing flaw. And, considering that the Vehicle was just a few months out of warranty but under the warranty mileage limit at the time the issue was discovered, I appealed, asking that GM cover in full or share with me the cost of this repair. My appeal was denied.GM’s reputation and marketing emphasize its vehicles’ durability, reliability, and safety and care for customer satisfaction. I have many family and friends that have owned GM vehicles and, before this incident, I had no reason to believe that the company would deny coverage for repair of an issue with one of its vehicles. I was, honestly, very surprised that GM not only denied my claim but also declined to offer assistance with the $1,000 charge for diagnosis, a step that was taken at the suggestion of one of its dealerships. Especially considering that I had been told by the GM representative that there would likely be assistance.I anticipate that in a few years, I will need to upgrade to newer vehicle, but now I hesitate to ever purchase another GM vehicle. I am GM’s target customer, the father of a young family that is growing and will have a need for multiple safe and dependable vehicles for years to come. GM did not stand behind its product and cover the cost of this repair.

I bought this 2010 Acadia 3 months ago. Oh sure, it looks great, but I discovered the a/c doesnt work, the window locks dont work, the windshield washers dont work. When I remove the gas cap to refuel, it wont start unless I floor it. It cranks slow like that battery or starter is bad. Now it pops into neutral while driving and the electric door locks cycle up and down rapidly. What a huge pile of crap this vehicle is. I bought my 2008 Acadia New from the dealership and I have been in Love with it from the beginning. The biggest issues Ive had are my water pump going out in 2013. The rails on floor to moves rows back & forth are a hassle but weve managed to just fold the seats & thats always worked (I got the 8 passenger). A/C has gone bad a couple of times as well. Other than that no major issues. Im at 180k miles now & it decided it was tired by stalling on me & shaking on the freeway, it read on dash Engine reducing speed. I was told by a technician that the transmission was going out and not worth putting money in it anymore because it was at the end of the road. I took it to a different tech at a different shop and he said there seems to be nothing wrong with the transmission and its the suspension, a/c and a few leaks that were not caught which led it to have no coolant & overheating. I have been debating getting a new car because this car has been so good to me and Ive driven it from Los Angeles to Arizona, Las Vegas, Lake Arrowhead, & Big Bear every single winter. Im also a Realtor so I drive a lot. My transmission and engine have never been replaced. So Im having a hard time parting with it. The second technician that gave me a second opinion also offered me $2500 if I decide to actually part with it. Im still debating and having a hard time but I think the time has come to say goodbye. :(

I bought this GMC Acadia in August of 2008. Brand new. I followed all scheduled maintenance recommendations set by GMC. At 78,000 miles while driving down the interstate, a hole blows in the side of the transmission stranding my wife and two young sons 3 hours from home. Naturally the factory warranty is up. BUT, I told my wife, This is why you buy from a company such as GMC, they will stand by their product, and help us pay for it. WRONG! GMC totally turned their backs on us! GMC customer service told me twice there is nothing they will do. They did tell me if I had taken it to a GMC dealer theyd look at it. Really? I cant drive it! Its at a private mechanic. What pay to have it towed again to a dealership so they can tell me they wont help me again then over charge me to fix it and make more money off me that I dont have??? NO WAY! The funny thing is, Ive read reviews of tons of people having this exact same problem with GMC and this Acadia transmission problem. Wake up GMC! I say this because not a couple months ago, I told my wife wed buy her a new Tahoe in July of 2016. NOT NOW! I bought my 2009 GMC Acadia new. It just turned 62,000 miles. All 6 ignition coils have been replaced (not all at once). Numbers 4 and 6 went first. Then 3 and 5 went. Since theyre at the back near the firewall I had number 1 replaced too since the intake manifold had to be removed to accomplish the repair. A little over 2 weeks ago number 2 had to be replaced. The replacement of 6 coils is unacceptable for a vehicle with mileage as low as mine. Of course we all know about the timing chain issues and transmission flex plate problems. GM should be ashamed of this 3.6 liter motor and the transmission. The comfort and passenger compartment is great. Of course when you have to have your vehicle towed over 100 miles to get back home from vacation that comfort doesnt help. Thats what happened to my family Saturday. This junk is in the shop now with my mechanic. He is very honest and doesnt try to sell you service you dont need. You can look over his shoulder if you want to. He left dealership service due to their dishonest practices. Im getting no ignition to 2, 4, and 6. This isnt a coil issue. It probably is a wiring harness issue or fuse box issue. He explained the flimsy fuse boxes. The fuse boxes are made of layers of flimsy metal sheets so the sockets for the fuses wear out. I also may have damaged my cat by driving with the constant misfires resulting in dumping unignited fuel into the cat. I also have a broken front motor mount, another piece of junk as he states. All of this with around 62,000 miles. Buyer beware. My wife wanted this car bad and I bought without doing research. Never again. I may go for a Honda Pilot next time, after I do lots of research. BTW, I guess most of you know that the Acadia and the Chevy Traverse are the same. I forget the Buick equal.

I purchased my 2007 GMC Acadia brand New. A week after owning it, the liftgate shocks went bad, it hit me in the head putting groceries away. I NOTICED a popping sound coming from the steering, as Id turn, took it in, according to them its fine... 3 weeks, I was just driving and it completely shut down no warning, I had to put it into park, restart it. Ive had continuous issues with my SUV, with the warranty, even worse now that I paid it off, repairs are more than anything else. Approximately 4000.00 in repairs now. I feel I should get a replacement being that this SUV only has 47,000 miles on it!!! Currently its in the shop, for the throttle body, last month I formed out $900.00 for brakes! But that is fixing to change! The first night I brought it home, it had approx. 55,000 miles on it. When I came out the next morning, a huge puddle of anti-freeze was running out underneath it and the check engine light came on. It has had a couple of recalls, which I appreciated! After that, the suspension broke when they put the vehicle on the ramp for service. My StabiliTrak has had issues several different times! Around 90,000 miles, my transmission messed up, a local service repairman whom I trust stated that the teeth had ground off of the disc in the transmission and even showed it to me..... This was a very rare thing in vehicles abroad. He replaced that part, stating the transmission looked okay, and he had to get permission from GM to change out the whole transmission and GM didnt like to do that. It was under warranty through 104,000 miles. Now at 108,500 miles my transmission is messing up again. 5 months ago, I turned right into a parking lot from a very busy street with cars behind me. When I did, the car wouldnt turn and cut off! I put it in park and re-cranked it and it was okay. I still took it to the dealership since it was still under warranty, and they fixed something with the steering column and said it was low on steering fluid. Call it luck or whatever you wish, but I shouldnt even be alive to tell this story! There is an obvious need for recalls on the steering and transmission! GMC..... PLEASE GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER AND TAKE CARE OF THE PEOPLE WHO TAKE CARE OF YOU! WITHOUT US AND OUR PASSION FOR YOUR BRAND, YOU WILL NO LONGER BE A BRAND! That isnt a threat, its common sense.

13 GMC Acadia Denali - The only issue I had in the 2 years and 51,000 miles was service side impact sensor. Im very happy with my truck and like the drive, ride and handling. I heard about issues on the earlier models but I could not be happier with mine. My previous truck was a 07 Yukon Denali. That was a great truck. I traded on a new Acadia since it was 50k instead of mid-60s. Both are good trucks. Love the power of the V8. Like the mpg on the V6.

While parking at a store, My wife had her foot on the brake approaching the parking space, when the gas pedal suddenly went to the floor (full throttle). She tried to stop by applying more pressure on the brakes. This did not stop the car (2007 GMC Acadia), She also tried pulling up on the throttle with my foot, couldn’t get it to come up. She finally stopped when the car hit the Walmart store outer wall. My daughter was in the car with her at the time and witnessed the entire incident just as described above. This was a $5200. Crash, as well as her first collision counting against my record in 45 Years of driving. Has anyone else had this happen to them, GMC needs to check these vehicles out for this problem and get them fixed before some get hurt or dies.

So got the Acadia and fell in love, it fit our family of 6 perfectly! Soon after I noticed the passenger front and back windows would hesitate to roll down sometimes...over looked it because I was so happy to have it, then came the air bag light - it was a known issue but no one could do anything about it to clear it out! Now mind you I got my car in Jan so it was cold, now were getting into summer and running the ac more and it makes this loud screeching noise when its on low. I was told it was from water leaking in from the sunroof, GREAT! All these problems are bothersome but not so costly. The biggest problem came today. I was driving with my 2 kids, stopped at a red light, got ready to take off and it was like someone unplugged the car - it just wouldnt go. Luckily I was coming down off a slight incline so I was able to roll into a parking lot where the check engine light came on. And Im being told Its $2500 to rebuild the transmission and put a new wave plate in (the wave plate is what broke in the transmission causing the issue) but they cant guarantee it will last more than 10,000 miles because there could have been more damage done by the broken wave plate. They can give it a full check for $127 a hr or I could get a new transmission for $4000. Of course my warranty ended last year and there is no recall for this issue that so many people are having. I absolutely love everything about this car but whats the point of having a really nice car if you cant drive it and 11 months into it Im having all these issues. I will definitely be trading this vehicle in the first chance I get! GM is supposed to be the best of the best but thats definitely not the case. GMC Acadia is like a cubic zirconia, looks good but worth absolutely nothing!

I own a 2008 Acadia that note had 85,000 miles on it. My transmission went due to a bracket that broke, of course my warranty has expired, but prior to its expiration I had it in the garage twice, not even a GMC certified transmission expert could find a problem. Of course you are not going to find a problem, unless you open the casing and see that there is a cracked bracket causing mischief that is eventually going to cause a total loss. Im a little fortunate because the dealer I bought it from help pay for half, but thanks GM. Nothing like spending money you dont have before Christmas.

Within a few weeks of purchasing my new 2012 GMC Acadia Denali the car went into the shop for 6 weeks while they tried to diagnose a transmission problem with GMs help. Since making the repair the engine continues to surge to 4000 RPMs from time to time under certain driving conditions as the transmission struggles to keep up. Problems with the car also includes numerous recalls, driver seat coming loose, and the front AC evaporator unit failed. After the GM warranty expired and weeks after replacing the front AC evaporator unit the rear AC evaporator and power steering failed. I can no longer afford the car and I believe that GMs product quality became poor after the GM bankruptcy and when GM became known as Government Motors.

My 09 Acadia has had so many problems - I wish I never bought it. The timing chain has been replaced THREE times! Once at 26k miles, once at 83k miles and now again at 111k miles. In addition to that...there have been so many other issues (tranny has been taken apart and rebuilt twice). GMC offers coverage up to 120k miles on the chain, but I wasnt aware of that when I took it to my shop. Now they wont even help cover any of the costs when I provide full, detailed, back up. I love the car when its running, but Id suggest to stay away from Acadia. Theyre really garbage.

I bought a brand new 2014 Acadia in December. It is now August and I have had 3 different problems. When the car was 6 weeks old, my car died in a parking lot (leaving me blocking parked cars) in 20 degree weather with my 3 year old in the car. After being towed to the dealership, I was told that I didnt have any fuel in the tank although it said I had 54 miles to empty (OnStar confirmed). This was found to be a problem with the reading in the tank and shortly after became a recall. Two months later I started hearing a crunching sound in the tires when I turned a corner. This ended up being some belt that wasnt getting the right amount of fluid so it snapped. That repair took three days so I had to have a rental car... even though I paid top dollar for a brand new car, I was riding around in a rental car. At this point, I was very frustrated but still loved the look and roominess of this vehicle. During the summer I started hearing a squealing when I turned the air conditioner on. Within days I was getting no cold air on very hot days. The dealership could not find a leak but recharged it and sent me home. Within a week and a half the squealing started again... clearly a problem! So I called to report it but was leaving for vacation the next day so made an appointment for the day I got back. I took it in and they ran a light over the system to see if there was a leak... no leak found and sent me home. Within two days while driving with my children in the car, we could not get any cold air and it was a very hot, humid day. Now Im riding around in my new car with my windows down sweating. I called right away and was told that my car would not give as much cold air while idling (what??) and that the air conditioner might not be able to keep up with the humidity! Really, are you kidding me? Why did I pay this much for a car that cannot keep me cold when its hot all summer? They told me to bring it back in and they would run the light over it again. I didnt have a day that I could stop and it had cooled off outside so I was getting colder air...so apparently my brand new car really cant handle humidity... What a piece of junk! So, its hot again (over 90 degrees) and we literally cant breathe in the car. It is blowing hot air when its humid out. My husband called and spoke with the service manager who said he would call back which he did... 9 hours later and left a voice mail. He said they would run a light over it and if it didnt show a leak there was nothing they could do about it and the car could only cool to 64 degrees in this humidity level. Another joke, it never got to 64 degrees, more like 84 degrees blowing on us and if it says 60 thats what it should get to. Another person that tells me my car cant handle the humidity. Its going in today to have another checkup with the light. Is it only me or could the system just not work properly? How could we pay so much and have such a problematic car... so frustrated!!

I bought my 2013 GMC Acadia new. I had warranty. I maintenance it including the transmission. I have had rear A/C replaced, fuel pump on engine, 4 fuel pumps on the gas tank, accelerator sensor/pedal, the paint rubbed off. This week without warning while driving 65 mph my transmission failed. I heard a clunk and my vehicle died. I made it off the road. It started and would not stay in 3rd gear. Took to dealership and they said they would see what they could do for me. It is dead (catastrophic failure) and out of warranty. I have made 4 years of payments ($700) and have 2-1/2 years of payments left. It is basically sitting in my driveway unusable. Cant get to my new job, cant take my terminally ill son to the doctors, etc. Im biting my nails as to what they will offer me.

In 2007 when the first Acadia came out, I fell in love with it and its body
In 2007 when the first Acadia came out, I fell in love with it and its body style. We bought one and had very few problems, other than normal wear and tear. When we traded it in for a 2012 Terrain, there were 115,000 miles on the Acadia. We should have kept it rather than downsize to the Terrain. The Terrain, was not a problem either, but after having it for 16 months, I decided that I wanted another Acadia, which is what we did a week ago tomorrow. Never having had any major problems with the first Acadia, I thought surely the 2014 would be better, 7 years later. However, I was wrong. The past weekend, my husband and I drove to Louisiana for a funeral. On our ride there, the car ran smooth and no apparent problems were recognized. However, while away, on our way to the grave site the SUV began to shake and jerk, also making loud noises. It felt as if we were on a bucking horse. After about twenty minutes of this, it began to run smoothly again. Later that evening, the jerking began again, just not as long this time. On our way back home after driving possibly the first 75 miles, the jerking began a third time. That time it only lasted for about 10 miles, and did not repeat the action any more. When the jerking began, the Stability Trac signal came on. We had had similar problems with the first Acadia, but that did not begin until we had put 60,000 or more miles on it. This new one, has less than 300 miles on it. My dealership has been gracious in providing us with a loaner. Although the loaner is also a 2014, it is an automobile and not an SUV. Due to the fact that I previously broke my leg and fractured my ankle on the same leg, four years later, as well as having had to have a total knee replacement on that same leg. The Buick that we have been loaned, sits very low, even with being able to raise the seat, Never having gone through this before, I expected to get the same type or a very similar one, to what I have been accustomed to driving. We have not had a chance to get back to the dealership and my salesman, but plan to do so today, to see if they can put us in another SUV. I have also looked online to see if the 2014 Acadia is one of those being recalled, but have not been successful in finding out yet.Overall, my experiences with all three GMC vehicles weve purchased over the last 10 years, have been excellent ones. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone. As a matter of fact, I praised the 07 one to my banker so much, that she went out and bought one two years ago after test driving one of her own. She is still in love with it, and tells me she rarely uses her previous car which she thought she loved before getting an Acadia. Those of you who have had horrible experiences with your Acadia, must be in the minority, because rarely, if ever, have I heard an Acadia owner speak negatively about it. Friends of ours who had an Envoy, recently bought an Acadia after riding in ours. Sorry about your problems, but I would think you are the exception, not the norm.

2009 GMC Acadia was exactly what I wanted...so I thought! Little did I know that I would be driving with my 5 year old in the car when it essentially shut off in the middle of the Interstate at less than 2 years old! That was the beginning of the END. It was year 2011 and this amazing car became nothing more than a Lemon... It needed a NEW ENGINE. I knew I was in for it and I was right. All of these posts are exactly what Ive been through. I dont remember all of the correct descriptions but StabiliTrak, steering pump, motor mount are just a few to mention. I was hoping to keep the car for ONE more year...but now the car wont shift...wont go. Guess what? Wave plate fractured sending pieces of ground metal teeth throughout the transmission. Refurbished transmission needed for $4,800 or new for $6,800. I was happy to receive the wave plate recall letter in the mail but lucky me the tranny died after 120k miles so its not covered. I called GM to discuss a better cost for a transmission.. I said Im not asking for a new car. Im not asking for a new transmission. I simply needed my GMC Acadia to function through 2015 and $4,800 is a high price to pay considering the thousands already invested in repairs. Theyve known about the so-called wave plate issue for a long time...before my car passed the 120k mark.

My 2008 GMC Acadia truck is 4 years old and has 56k miles on it. Its very well taken care of. It started making noises while driving so I had it inspected at GMC dealer in Orange, Virginia. A very nice repairman said the steering rack is cracked, but because I dont have a newer model, Acadia, this isnt covered under the 100,000-mile warranty GMC offers. After doing research about this topic, I find dozens of websites with many, many people all having the exact same problem with the exact same model and year Acadia. While I was told that this is a very serious issue, no recall has ever been issued by GMC. However, I was told that GMC is aware of the problem and has re-designed their newer model steering racks. I spoke with GMC headquarters asking for this to be a covered expense so I dont have my two children in danger. The guy on the phone was quite rude and said he has the final authority and he did not approve my request. When I asked if there was someone else I could speak with, I was told that any further communication on this subject would have to be taken outside of GMC and that they would no longer speak on my claims. I was so angry I was speechless. I dont understand how they can claim they know this is serious and know there is a problem but never recall the vehicle! And why is this now a covered warranty repair but it isnt for my vehicle?

It is scary because the cost is astronomical to repair if this is electrical problems. Also the car had problems with it. I bought a 2008 Acadia a few years ago. I will never buy another GMC. When we first brought it home it had to go back so the whole rear end clutch system could be replaced. It makes a loud grinding noise on left turns and the dealership dont know why. Seems to me they dont have anyone that can figure out these Acadias and then I had no power steering and the power steering pump had to be replaced and when I picked it up from shop the shocks and struts broke. They told me the seals gave way after being on lift for six and half hours so I got stuck paying 600 for that. Now it keeps telling me transmission over heating let idle. December 18, 2010. Purchased 2011 GMC Acadia LT-1, Model ACA, for $39,363.19. November 2015 - Received the following notice from GMC: As the owner of a 2011 model year GMC Acadia, your satisfaction with our product is very important to us. This letter is intended to make you aware that, on some 2011 model year GMC Acadia vehicles, the throttle-position sensor may cause the engine to run rough, cause the malfunction-indicator lamp and/or an engine reduced power message to illuminate, and reduce the engine’s power. Do not take your vehicle to your GMC dealer as a result of this letter unless you believe that your vehicle has the condition as described above. General Motors is providing owners with additional protection for the condition described above. If this condition occurs on your 2011 GMC Acadia within 10 years of the date your vehicle was originally placed in service or 120,000 miles, whichever occurs first, the condition will be repaired for you at no charge. Our Acadia did not have the malfunction-indicator lamp and/or an engine reduced power message illuminate but starting in January 2016, the engine did start to run rough.January 2 – January 7, 2016. First Noticed Problems: Our Acadia engine was running very rough – idling, accelerating with unusual RPM’s, not running smoothly, stopped at lights and it felt it was going to die, etc. The Acadia has 60K miles on it. Brought the car to BTR (garage we have used for over 20 years, and 9 cars). BTR replaced four Solenoids, which did not fix the problem. After several more days trying to diagnose the problem, they suggested we have the car towed to a GM dealer that was most convenient, Classic Chevrolet. So we did.January 8 – January 25, 2016. Classic Chevrolet reported that the problem was the Catalytic Converter, and that they would replace it, under warranty. Apparently, this did not fix the problem. After researching this for several days, they were looking at a timing chain. Classic informed us that ‘needed to open the front end to further diagnose it. This was going to cost us $1,600 to open up the engine, and it could cost significantly more depending on what they find.’ Classic then reported they found ‘metal shavings’ in the oil, diagnosed the problem as “Catastrophic Engine Failure” and reported we needed a whole new engine, at a cost of about $7,700, on a 2011 GMC Acadia with 60K miles. Classic stated that since we had not had the Acadia serviced (i.e. oil changes, etc.) at a GM dealer, thus ACDelco oil filters were not used, we would be responsible for 100% of the cost. After we provided receipts for the regular maintenance required for an automobile, Classic stated that GM would pay for 60% of the new engine, and we would be responsible for 40% of the costs. The offer of us paying for 40% of the costs of a new engine is unacceptable. According to our Acadia’s owner’s manual we were not required, nor is it even suggested, to use ACDelco oil filters, and that according to the Federal Trade Commission, i.e. the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, it is against the law for a car manufacturer to mandate a specific brand of car product, unless it is provided at no charge. After we informed Classic of the above mentioned point, Classic Chevrolet stated they wanted to tow the car to a GMC dealership. So, it was towed to GMC Beck & Masten North. This is where the car was purchased in 2010.January 25 – Present. Upon receipt of the car, GMC Beck & Masten North first reported they needed to do their own diagnostic research as no paperwork was sent with the car. Furthermore, they stated the car started up fine, albeit it was running a little rough, but they would get back to us with further details as soon as possible. After over 2 weeks at this dealer, now the 3rd repair shop to be used, the service manager stated that ‘the engine looks good, appears to be well maintained. Our service records were good but he was waiting on GMC to see what kind of assistance they could offer. He also stated the oil looked good, and that he did not see any problem with the filter and/or using after market oil filters.’Finally, Beck & Masten stated the engine needs to be replaced – 5 of the 6 bearings were spun/gone – it would cost approximately $8,000, and that GMC would pay for 50% of the costs and we would be responsible for the other 50%. Again, this is totally unacceptable. Beck & Masten stated they would talk to their regional GMC representative and get back to us. Other notes during this process: This is 2011 GMC Acadia – purchased on December 18, 2010 – it has 60K miles on it – the problems started 5 years and 15 days after it was purchased. It is not stated in the owner’s manual what brand, or what specs are required, in an oil filter. We have serviced this car regularly since the date it was purchased – have provided all receipts to date. We have spoken to GMC Customer Service, (1-800-462-8782), during this whole process. We have been told to be patient 63 times. Industrial Distributors, supplier of the oil filters to BTR, called Classic Chevrolet, the dealer who originally stated the after-market oil filters were faulty, in attempt to investigate the filter scenario in more detail. Classic never returned phone call. General Manager of Classic Chevrolet, commented that he ‘had a hard time believing that after-market oil filters would cause catastrophic engine failure.’ We have been told “I understand your frustration”, 47 times. Beck& Masten, stated there could be two reasons that this many bearings in an engine would fail. 1. There was water in the engine, i.e. car drove through high water. However, they stated there was no evidence this ever occurred (which we also attested to), or 2. There was poor lubrication in the engine due to lack of oil. We have provided all receipts affirming the Acadia was serviced at regular intervals. We have further reported that at no time was there an indication that oil was low in the Acadia. Therefore, if poor lubrication did occur, any warning indicators in the Acadia did not work properly. The engine in the Acadia is a 3.6 LLT, is a Direct Injection Engine. This feature causes extremely rapid degradation/failure of the oil between changes, resulting in rapid degradation of cam gears, timing chains and premature failure of crank bearings. It is our understanding GM stopped using this engine in the Cadillacs, LaCrosses and Camaros. General Manager of GMC Beck & Masten, stated, unsolicited, that his recommendation for the future, whether it is a GM product or not, to have cars serviced only at a dealer, because it ‘carries more weight.” Commentary: Kind of interesting how a GM would suggest building your war chest for a potential fight with the manufacturer. Is GM building cars anticipating situations like this to happen on a regular occurrence? Several times, we asked Classic Chevrolet, GMC Customer Service and GMC Beck & Masten North for their diagnoses in writing. As of this date, nothing has been provided. Not once, have we seen any evidence that GM, GMC, Classic Chevrolet, and GMC Beck & Masten North, are working together to resolve this issue. Commentary: seems to be a Catastrophic Communication Failure for a Catastrophic Engine Failure! GMC, GM, GMC Beck & Masten, not to mention numerous auto mechanics we have talked to, all question, “Why was the car transferred from one GM dealer to another GM dealer?” BTR – it was explained to us that a catastrophic engine failure is a term used to describe a complete failure of the engine. 5 out 6 bearings spun would mean completely knock out the engine. If a bearing fails, you hear a “knock” or a “ping”, usually one fails at a time. If there were 5 bearings failed it had to be an instantaneous loss of oil and a catastrophic failure. If the engine ran on January 8th to check the catalytic converter, when did this catastrophic failure occur? On Jan 26th, after going to Beck & Masten, the engine started up but ran hard with knocks. I was under the impression with 5 bearings failed the engine shouldn’t even start. Beck & Masten sent this to us a little while ago: When we disassembled your vehicle, we found 5 spun rod bearings and scored cylinder walls. The engine (inside) was not dirty and the oil was clean. The oil looked to have been changed recently. Cause of failure is unknown. It will be necessary to replace engine to complete this repair. Commentary: Kind of sounds like a faulty engine to me!

We bought our 2007 GMC Acadia the year it came out in 2007… NEVER AGAIN!
We bought our 2007 GMC Acadia the year it came out in 2007… NEVER AGAIN! Immediately, we started having water leak in through the seatbelt casings & the lights. We took it to our nearest GMC dealer that supposedly fixed the problem. 2 months later, it started all over. After the 3rd attempt at fixing it & carpet replacement, we took it to a non-GMC auto body shop & they replaced all of the padding (which GMC DID NOT & pieced together carpeting), he was able to locate the problem & replace ALL of the padding & carpeting… again! Since then, we have a whirling sound whenever you turn the steering wheel (now its all the time). GMC says were low on power steering (we just filled it). Then they said, its a power steering cable issue. WRONG AGAIN! After replacing tubing to the power steering (supposedly) its still making sounds non-stop (8 years later & 2 replacements). Check engine light goes on; mechanic hooks up his diagnostic machine & now it says theres an electrical problem. Cant find anything, though. 1 week later, it goes off until a year later. Then it says, its power steering again. GIVE ME A BREAK! The tube looks good & theres brand new fluid. This month, the whole engine had to come out because the timing chain has gone bad. GMC states that around 100,000 miles, they know this is happening (Im at 92,000). The mechanic had to order a kit from GMC to fix this problem that they know exists. They send the kit… but, then require the mechanics to order a special tool kit (it doesnt come with the original repair kit; go figure) to put in this special kit.I get the car back, the engine light goes on AGAIN! Now theres a bubbling sound whenever you drive between 18mph & 45mph. The mechanics cant find whats making this sound. They hear it! And they are just as PISSED off with GMC as we are. They are not getting ANY HELP from GMC. So, the car is back in the shop, yet again.

Sat in the car using accessories on my lunch hour. Clock did not keep time. Hit the accessory button. Again it went back 4 min from where it was - overall lost 10 min every time I hit the accessory button. Has anyone else had this issue? Also very uncomfortable drivers seat. Supposed to be top of the line better than other models. When I took an SLE out for comparison that seat was much better. Go figure.

I purchased my 2011 GMC Acadia Denali new and have always serviced at the dealership. Two weeks ago my engine stalled at a stop sign. I had it towed to the dealer thinking it was the alternator, but turns out my engine went with only 58,000 miles. The dealer contacted me yesterday after the vehicle being there for two weeks now. They informed me that the bill will be $9,500 and that GM will cover $4,300 and I will need to cover the $5,200 balance. I had just replaced the defective navigation system in February 2018 which entailed replacing the entire radio as well. I have been loyal GM customer my entire life with all of my new vehicle purchases. Unfortunately loyalty does not seem to really matter with this company. I had been planning on buying the new 2020 Cadillac XT6 next year.

I bought my 2009 Acadia new - I bought the extended warranty... Too bad I dont still have it now that my transmission has failed (Like MANY others). This car has been to the shop so many times, they all know me by name. Ignition coils all failed, and failed again, timing chain stretched (and now the transmission).. I also have an engine light on with an exhaust system problem. It goes on and on. I once loved this vehicle, but it has turned into the BIGGEST MISTAKE I have ever made in a car purchase. I can honestly say that after having 3 other cars purchased new, this has been the most troublesome piece of junk of all. I am so disappointed, especially after reading all of the complaints and problems here. I would NEVER EVER endorse the purchase of this vehicle. I am waiting patiently for the day I get rid of it--and will likely get nothing much in trade--theyre on to you GM.

I purchased a new 2012 gmc acadia, in September 2012. Right the first month
I purchased a new 2012 gmc acadia, in September 2012. Right the first months I had to take it back for 2 issues noticed then: sound/noise heard during cold start and both of the rear interior panels were scuffed. After phone calls and many attempts, these issues were in a way fixed but had to lower my standards. Then, right my very first year of use, the major issues began. The AC (first summer is when I noticed) did not work properly, I live in Vegas with triple digit temperatures during summer, and the ac did not work. Also, the motor started to leak oil. These are the major 2 issues I have had since my first year of owning this LEMON! every year, I have to take it in for the same issues.Just recently called GMC and asked them if they were going to stand behind their product, that they have evidence this vehicle is a LEMON, same issues for the last 4 years in a row now. To not surprise, they are not. They treated me like an idiot, and of course to no surprise, there is nothing they can do for me. Except, oh yeah, they can HELP me with a TRADE!!! It has been weeks waiting for them to call me with a status on my complaint with GMC, and then they had the nerve to call me and advised me of this. This is worse than an insult. Please, do NOT buy ANY GMC, vehicles are expensive as if youre getting the best quality but they are robbing peoples money, please be smart, think what you are buying, do your homework. You can see thousand of complaints just like mine, GMC does not manufacture/sell reliable products/vehicles. They just sell to make money without thinking of what they are selling. Just thinking of sales/numbers for themselves. While we are here making a complaint or reading about it, CEOs are in a gateway with our monies!!! Any advise would be helpful, if youve been in a situation like mine, please tell me how did you handle the outcome. Or if we all together can do something to stop these big companies STEALING our money and making us go through all of these things and inconveniences!! ENOUGH!!! THANK you.

Bought new in November of 2007. Have had major issues 3 times with the power steering. The automatic transmission was repaired twice and replaced twice with only 79000 miles on the vehicle. Guess what? The transmission is going out again after a total replacement about a year ago. Does GMC have a problem with the transmission? Oh yes!!! Will they do anything about it? Probably not. Will I do anything about it, Oh yes!!! I will NEVER buy another GM product again. The last transmission replacement was on my nickle after the extended warranty expired. GMC needs to expire. Oh and the radio entertainment system only plays in the right front speaker now, another common problem GMC refuses to acknowledge. This was a vehicle that we wanted to own for 200,000 miles. Maybe if we keep rebuilding it and a truck load of cash. Stay away from GMC. No run away, very far away.

I purchased a GMC 2007 Acadia new. It has a squeaky steering wheel, has had a/c blower replaced four times, leaks into master cylinder, suspension problems, coolant system problems and constant headaches over drain tubes in sunroof clogging and leaking water into drivers compartment causing carpet having to be pulled up and dried. The sunroof issue was under warranty and first dealer wasnt going to do anything until I contacted GM. Their solution was to blow out drain tubes every oil change. It clogs quickly so I am running back to dealer and got sick of it and sealed sunroof off. All other problems after the warranty, from 2 months out and on. No more. GM. Poor quality engineering.

I bought my Acadia 2008 model from Bin Hmoudeh dealership (Abu Dhabi - United Arab Emirates) and had done just 70,000km. The transmission got stuck on the third gear and dealership made a complete overhaul to the transmission. I am blessed because I have extended the warranty for five years, else, I would have had to pay for the repair which cost around USD 6000. The dealership has given another year of warranty for the transmission until November 2013 or 20,000km. I love my Acadia and I am worried for such an incident to happen in a year or so. Other owners have advised me to sell the car! I cannot believe that a GMC car maintained at the dealership can have such a failure and below 70,000km! I seek your advice on such an incident bearing in mind that the Bin Hmoudeh dealership did what was expected from them. I have a concern related to the Acadia, reliability wise for the future. Should I sell the car now? Or can GMC assure me that such a breakdown will not happen for the next 50,000km or so? My Acadia is a front wheel (not AWD) and has been used in the city only!

Well another big repair needed for my 2010 GMC Acadia. First I had problems with the steering column. Then the core evaporator had to be replaced. Both were major repairs. GMC Paul Sur paid for most of it after I went on their website and complained. Now I need a TMC module and seal replaced. Need throttle service and fuel injector. Total cost parts and labor $1600! Called to get a breakdown for parts $734 and labor $509. Throttle clean $124.95, fuel induction service 139.95. Funny how I took my car in a year ago with the same problem. It was still under warranty. But they said that the codes did not show up at that time. Now its not under warranty and the codes showed up. Really? This is the third major problem Ive had with this car.

Our Acadia has had a number of issues! We would try to put it in gear and try to backup and it wouldnt go anywhere. We would shut it off and let it sit and try it again, sometimes it would work sometimes wait and do it again. The wipers wouldnt work, the gauges would dance while driving or not work at all, the stereo would work off and on. While turning at speeds 50mph and above turning right only, it would start bouncing side to side only at a certain point of the turn. This would make you feel as if you were going to lose control. In the last couple days it would have power but when you try to start it nothing happens. We had a leak running under the dash into the heater fan. We was told it is leaking from the body above the windshield. We have taken to the shop many times and only repaired the fan motor to the heater. Loved gmc vehicles but think I will never do this again. GMC has left us needing a bailout of this pile they are willing to leave everyone with. They really should consider fixing their problem!

My car referenced below is currently dead since 12/15/2011. Diagnosis showed 3 cylinders compression pressure out of 6 is 0. Then they found that the engine is sludge.I brought the car to GMC for inspection on 9/28/2011. The car warranty expired on 9/17/2011. I have 3 questions: 1) Should the inspection procedure detect that there is a problem prior to the collapse of the motor? The car did run for almost 3000 kilometers post the inspection and prior to motor death. 2) Shouldnt GMC still fix this car and consider it still within the warranty? This is because (a) the car was inspected within 10 days of the warranty. The GMC dealer in Lebanon could not take it sooner. GMC dealer told me that they would still consider it under warranty. Also, (b) I really believe that the inspections done by the GMC dealer in Lebanon should have detected it. I cannot imagine the problem if done properly and diligently. I cannot imagine a great company such as GMC would have a bad diagnostic program. And (c) regardless of warranty, how can Acadia die after 30,600 kilometers (less than 20,000 miles), and GMC corporate people in the USA are not all over this lemon car?I would think that the GMC engineering community would be extremely interested in this case and want to learn all about it and come out with a very conclusive conclusion. Instead, the company is allowing a bunch of crooks and bad business/service personnel operate this GMC dealership. It is such organizations that create bad reputations for their mother company, because they put maximized profitability in front of quality and customer care.3) What can cause the death of the Acadia car within 20,000 miles? I brought the car for inspections and oil changes at 11530 kilometers and 27,651 kilometers. Please look into this and take a disciplinary action against your Lebanese GMC dealership and force them to fix the car asap. I expect great companies to act in an honorable way and to keep their customers happy and keep their reputation sky high. Please let me know, I am anxiously waiting,
