I have a 12 GMC Acadia Denali where the cheap antenna base cracked and came loose in a dealership car wash even though they removed the antenna first. I do not believe its the dealers fault but a factory defect or poor design. The service manager said he sees several a week come through with this issue. I tried to work with a GMC Factory rep; no help at all and blames the Stubby antenna that had always been removed before washing. My 4th GMC, but more than likely my last since they dont stand behind their products or dealerships. The dealership will cover 1/2 the cost of repairs, which is almost $500.
I have 2009 GMC Acadia. My power steering started having issues to the point that I should not be driving it and cant afford to fix it. Trade to trade it in with that issue does not work. I have seen lots of people with these issues. Make it a recall. This is why people stay clear of American cars .
After working hard for many years and striving to purchase what I thought was a top of the line vehicle - I purchased in July 2013 a used GMC 2010 Acadia SLT AWD fully loaded coming off a 3 year lease. I cannot afford a brand new one with a sticker of $45,000. The vehicle had extremely low mileage 33,000 miles. I wanted a larger, heavier vehicle with AWD to plow through the Michigan snow. I need a vehicle with low miles as I drive annually 22,000 per year. After one year of ownership, the vehicle had the typical Rack noise which is described in many forums was supposedly fixed by the dealer. This fix lasted one year and the rack once again is starting to thump at low speed turns. To fix this rack even though it was replaced a year earlier is $1000. In the 2.5 years that I have owned it I am now at 87,000 miles. I regularly changed the oil faithfully every 5-6,000 miles. I used synthetic oil as was told to me to do at the dealer. I did this because I was relying heavily on the car to last me to 160,000 miles or higher. That was not to be.4 days ago my husband took the car and the vehicle completely died on his way home. No lights, no warning, no nothing. We thought it was the battery and replaced the battery. You turn the key on vehicle to turn it over and nothing. My husband is not a professional mechanic but knows a lot about vehicles. He got under the vehicle to see what was going on and decided to try to turn the crankshaft -- it was completely seized. Yesterday the vehicle that I thought was finally one that was going to last now is going to cost at a minimum of $3000 to $6000 to repair. I am so upset and so frustrated with the way the Chevy/GMC vehicles have major issues with miles greater than 70,000. I dont know yet how we are going to pay to fix this vehicle. We are right now waiting on the official diagnosis from the dealer.Yesterday they called and stated it is for sure an internal issue and needed our permission to tear it apart. Once and if we fix it (not going to be able to afford the fix probably), I will never be able to trust the vehicle again. 2 weekends ago we had a basketball tournament and had 2 other children in the car with us over 100 miles away from home. Thank God this vehicle did not break down in rural Michigan that far from home. We are unsure if the root cause was the timing chain that seems to happen to these SUVs. I wish I would have spent hours investigating and reading reviews on this vehicle as I would not of purchased it if I had known this. I am very scared if we do decide to keep it that the transmission will go next.I had a Chevy Venture van which the transmission blew up at 80,000 miles and the whole car pretty much fell apart. Power sliding door stopped working, automatic windows stopped working along with the rear back wiper. I thought I would give another chance to GMC/Chevy to prove me wrong with a top of the line vehicle but I was wrong.My advice on these message boards is this - do not keep these vehicles more than 70,000 miles. They do not last. I have decided after the 2nd lemon from GM/Chevy I am going to try either a Ford Edge or Chrysler Jeep. I plan to purchase something with a better warranty than what GM and Chevy offer. GM and Chevy have lost my business once and for all.Updated on 02/23/2016: Today is February 23 and it is Day 25 since my 2010 Acadia blew up. After 9 days of diagnostics the final diagnosis was a spun rod bearing went in the lower end of the engine and it experienced catastrophic engine failure. A new engine will need to be installed if one can be located. After countless hours speaking with GMC and due to the fact that I am just shy of the 5 year mark --- GMC agreed to pay 60% and we pay 40% for a new engine. Total out of pocket expense will be around $3000.00. The dealership was kind enough to give me a rental car while this mess is figured out. Total fix for an engine swap is about $7500.00 for a vehicle that is at 87,000 miles. I am detailing the saga here of dealing with GMC and how many hours my husband has been on the phone trying to get this resolved.An engine was located and arrived at the dealer on Feb 16th. On Feb 17th we were told the engine that GMC agreed to split cost with us arrived missing parts. The dealer stated this was unacceptable and sent the engine back and requested a new one. After 22 days at the dealership we are still waiting on an engine. I believe engine availability is so limited right now because GMC is having to replace so many of these 3.6L V-6 engines. So the saga goes on. So the saga goes on. For something to happen in January – I am really hoping to have my car fixed in March some time! An engine was located and shipped to the dealer.
To start with, coil packs all of them now 118,000 miles and I paid hell to get there. Next motor mounts, wow fix them and see how that feels (not good and really ridiculous). Next front axles and now some new noise coming from the front left front area, and another fun project changing spark plugs. Maybe you should not try to put 50lbs. of potatos in a 20 lbs. sack, you know what I mean. I going to have to say Ive owned a lot of cars and I build them all the time, SHELBY1966 AC COBRAS the finest youll ever see, and I dont expect for GMC to stand up to my standards, but I do know what a car should be and this 2009 GMC Acadia does not even get close. Oh and forgot the tail light (brake light and front and rear turn signals, out and Ive heard about and read about it on here and other sites something wrong with the wiring and they say the same thing as always bla, bla bla, ** talk, but the one thing they dont understand is Im done with their sorry excuses and lame **. I will have to go to someone else to buy my cars. You know if we all stuck together, we would get what we should, when we buy something. Well I hope someone reads this and gets off their aces and starts to do the right thing and fix the things they should, and maybe they might win back some of their customers, but for me, bite me once shame on you, bite me twice and take a hike GMC. You know this might sound funny but Im not sure, even if they gave me a new one, that I would take it. I just dont have the time, nor do I want to spend the time to keep it on the street, and well lets not forget about the money involved with all of those fun times running around and getting hog wash from their Techs, and I dont blame them, they didnt build or design them. Bad for them I guess.Now all that being said, I do not want some of you to get fired up and write some stuff back about how great your car is and no problems bla, bla, bla, You can not tell someone something different than what they already know, and that is I know what a car is and how it should perform and you can not take away from me, please do not try. And if you do felt the urge too, please note all of the other people here on the net with the same problems and same results, excuses after excuses and no one owning up to them. The only peace of mind is knowing I dont have to deal with GMC anymore. I really Wish All The Best To Everyone Still Stuck With One Of These For A Lack Of A Better Word (Car). Good Luck!!
I am furious! My husband and I have a 2007 Acadia and within the past three months, due to extensive rainfall, the car has become completely non-functional. Why in the world has there not been a recall or lawsuit involving the fact that these cars leak water into the electrical system? First the AC stopped working in the back (temporary). Then the AMP completely blew out - no radio, no turn signal sound. When my husband looked it up online, he discovered what MANY people have encountered... the two (driver and passenger) electrical door connections were FULL OF WATER! Then today!!!!! I put my car in park and pulled the keys from the ignition and the engine continued to run for two minutes (By the sound of it, I truly thought I was hearing my Dads 1976 El Camino)... It then stuttered and died!!!!!! Now battery is dead because something under the hood has continued running despite the cars idle state. Warranty gone! Electrical system was repaired by previous owners after 2008 recall. SOOO Frustrated!!!!! How much money am I looking at here?
I purchased a 2008 Acadia brand new. First transmission was replaced at approximately 60000 miles. Second one at 122000. I have been a GM person all my life. However, from what I have read, I would stay away from most of the GM line. Their transmissions seem to be of poor quality.
We purchased this truck in May 2007 so we owned it for exactly 7 yrs. I intend to have it for another 18-20 months and then buy a Ford Expedition. We are DONE with GM - after owning just this one vehicle. I loved it when we first bought it. At 1 yr old, we had to replace the sway bar and bring it in for multiple recalls. But it was the first model year and the sway bar wasnt expensive, so I just shrugged it off. In 2009, the real trouble began. First the service airbag light came on. It was still under warranty so I brought it to the dealer and had them look at it - cost me $100 for them to run the code and then tell me the airbag was not covered warranty and would cost $1000 to fix. So weve been driving around with the airbag light on ever since. Then the check engine light started coming on - I brought it into the dealer and they said it was some coil, fixed it and it was good for a while. Summer 2010, check engine light came on again - again they fixed it. That Nov. we were going to FL - check engine light came on again - we had it serviced right before we left - we were driving down I95 and the light came on again. Brought it back to dealer as soon as we got back. They fixed it again this time and we were good. Until the following summer. Check engine light came on again - after being in the shop, getting car back, and light coming in again (we went through 3 loaners), they finally determined it was the timing chain. It was in the shop for almost 3 weeks. Finally we got it back and thought we were good to go - and were until the next summer (2012) the amp on the radio stopped working. Thankfully my husband was able to fix that himself. Now last May, just as we paid it off 2013 - the transmission had to be replaced. We paid for it ourselves since now it was way out of warranty. Just got the car back this morning b/c it was at mechanic the last 2 days b/c the entire front suspension had to be redone - final bill $3000. But its less than a new car - and I really want that Expedition. Hopefully now we can get through the next 18 months without any majors repairs. I am really disappointed. I had a Dodge Durango before this - I had it the same amt of time - put 187000 miles on it AND it was in an accident (this Acadia has never been wrecked). I had to put a transmission in the Durango and ball joints ($700) and a water pump ($150). Thats IT! Nothing like this Acadia has cost me. I hope I have better luck with the Expedition. We got rid of the Durango b/c the gas mileage sucked - that was one thing that really attracted us to the Acadia - and the 8 passenger seating. We have 6 kids. Anyway fingers crossed that we are in the clear now.
I purchased a brand new 2012 GMC Acadia at the end of November 2011. The engine had to be replaced at 31,000 miles. When they replaced the engine (thankfully that was covered under warranty) and took it for a test ride it was noted that the engine was MISFIRING. They replaced the fuel injector and everything seemed kind of ok for a while. Months later the car had a thumping/ rattling noise in the front end. Also the car started misfiring again. Spark plugs were changed twice and coil was replaced. I have been towed a few times and drove to the dealership numerous times. The car has been in the shop 22 times for the SAME TWO ISSUES. They changed just about everything in the front end for the thumping/rattling noise... struts, bushings, etc. They couldnt figure it out so they had a GMC expert fly out from the Midwest. Supposedly they fixed the issue and the noise went away for a while and came back. Now they tell me I need new struts!!?? Again?? And, now they tell me I need new cylinder heads also at $5100!! This new engine only has 60,000 miles on it!! I have a friend who has owned a shop for 35 years and has worked on my car a couple of times. He thinks maybe when they put the engine in they pinched the wiring harness or its something electrical that is causing the misfiring since it is random. He also feels since they changed everything in the front end they didnt tighten the cradle bolts when they put the engine back in and that is whats causing the rattling noise. These problems started after they put the new engine in. Whatever the case the car has been a piece of junk from the beginning. Also the power steering pump has been replaced twice in two years, not to mention numerous recalls and other issues. I have contacted an attorney and I would NEVER trust another GMC vehicle. I have NEVER owned a vehicle with so many issues. Not even a used vehicle...
I bought this 2010 Acadia 3 months ago. Oh sure, it looks great, but I discovered the a/c doesnt work, the window locks dont work, the windshield washers dont work. When I remove the gas cap to refuel, it wont start unless I floor it. It cranks slow like that battery or starter is bad. Now it pops into neutral while driving and the electric door locks cycle up and down rapidly. What a huge pile of crap this vehicle is. I was a certified GM mechanic for 20 years, but after seeing what kind of junk they are building now, Im ashamed to admit that to anyone. Dont ever buy one of these vehicles. The warranty company is worthless, says the problems are on me, and they wont repair them.
Ive had constant problems with this GMC Acadia. It is soooo sad that consumers can get screwed like this & GM dont have to own up to their products... This cost people homes, jobs, stress, etc. Im looking at all of the complaints and wondering how are they getting away with this. I purchased this truck used in 2011. I thought ok, just 4 years old... Worst experience of my life. The next year, the problems started. New power steering pump, Sun roof constant leaks, destroying the interior lining. Automatic windows going out. My head lights & tail lights constantly going out. Throttle body Valve??? Dont ask me but it cost approx $1300 to replace... And the worst, my TRANSMISSION! I was told the TCM fixed it and the car started back running... Then it wouldnt go forward again... Was told the transmission again... At the same time, all the sound went out in my car, no radio... no onstar... no blinkers, etc... This is horrible... We have to stand up... Im hearing the same complaints. I purchased a GMC 2007 Acadia new. It has a squeaky steering wheel, has had a/c blower replaced four times, leaks into master cylinder, suspension problems, coolant system problems and constant headaches over drain tubes in sunroof clogging and leaking water into drivers compartment causing carpet having to be pulled up and dried. The sunroof issue was under warranty and first dealer wasnt going to do anything until I contacted GM. Their solution was to blow out drain tubes every oil change. It clogs quickly so I am running back to dealer and got sick of it and sealed sunroof off. All other problems after the warranty, from 2 months out and on. No more. GM. Poor quality engineering.
I bought my 2008 Acadia brand new. It has been 95% trouble-free. Small problems, most covered under warranty. Now, with just under 60,000 miles, the transmission has gone bad. My dealer says it will cost $4100.00 to replace with a remanufactured one. I am just sick. This is a $45,000.00 car now worth $13,000. I have been so proud of this car and received so many compliments. It has been a joy and comfort to drive. With all of the bad press and obviously serious manufacturers flaws and cover ups, I am afraid to even consider buying another Acadia.
I have a 2010 Acadia SLT. I love my car however upon my last visit to the dealership for regular tune up we discovered the car was leaking oil which led to completely taking the car apart. This car was purchased new in 2010 and was $38000.00. It has 65,000 miles on it and we have had very little issues - the recalls. Not too bad. This car is very safe and rides and handles very well after 6 years. I am even considering getting a new Acadia Denali. I do feel like now that the car has over 50,000 miles - little things are going to start going wrong. When I went in for my last tune up the service manager gave me a list of things that my car was due to have done to it. Thankfully my husband is a retired mechanic for Ford and knew that it was all a bunch of crock. A car this expensive with that has been maintained as scheduled should last well over 150,000.00 miles. Not sure if it will.
2007 Acadia. The transmission went out at 125000 miles. It was replaced at certified GM dealership at the cost of 3961.22 Dec. 2014. In March, I received a letter from GMC that some 2007 have experienced a cracked or fractured wave plate. This was the exact problem with my car. GMC will not reimburse us for the repair because of the mileage, even though they are aware of the faulty part. I dont understand how GM can expect loyal customers when they wont take care of us!! I drive the GMC Acadia now because my husband got a company car. For me it is a very large SUV to drive. I find it is hard to pull in tight parking spots and the doors are loaded with dings and dents from other car doors parked next to me. I wish they would downsize the width of this SUV. It is too wide for me. If I lived somewhere more spread out and less crowded, this may not be a issue. Other than that, it is very roomy inside and I feel very high up when driving so that gives me the safety feeling.
Purchased 2009 GMC Acadia with 50k miles in 2012. Has been in for numerous recalls and repairs since 2nd day after purchase. 3 times to dealership for leaking fuel which was from fuel injectors and faulty o-ring that led to cabin filling with dangerous gas fumes, 3 times to shop for ignition coil replacement where dealership ignored the ECM technical bulletin. Replaced #3 coil 3 times (it was literally melted), 1 failed actuator, 1 engine rebuild when dealership failed to identify actuator as issue, actuator replacement, complete power steering failure after it was simply serviced due to recall limitations. 6 tows in all. And it is now in shop for ECM and you guessed it. Ignition coils/spark plugs. How much did GM help? They offered $1500 towards new car purchase. Not even close to repair costs. How knowledgeable was dealership service department? HORRIBLE. Did not identify correct issues, upsold repairs, ignored technical bulletins, and wiggled out of recall replacement of power steering. My warranty that I purchased covered some costs but even with warranty and extended service plan, I have paid out over $6k in a 2.5 yr period plus been on side of road more times than I can count. Cannot trade in due to very little market value. Stuck with worthless car that is costing a fortune. It was obviously a lemon and GM needs to acknowledge that and extend bumper to bumper coverage or buy out consumers. At this point I am surprised that I have not caught fire, blown up, or wrecked when power steering failed. This is a dangerous vehicle and people should stay away from it. I have over 20 service tickets.
I purchased my 2007 GMC Acadia brand New. A week after owning it, the liftgate shocks went bad, it hit me in the head putting groceries away. I NOTICED a popping sound coming from the steering, as Id turn, took it in, according to them its fine... 3 weeks, I was just driving and it completely shut down no warning, I had to put it into park, restart it. Took it in, ran a diagnosis and nothing. December 2008, winter I was driving the car, the gas pedal went to the floor again, no warning, almost wrecked into a pole. Ive had continuous issues with my SUV, with the warranty, even worse now that I paid it off, repairs are more than anything else. Approximately 4000.00 in repairs now. I feel I should get a replacement being that this SUV only has 47,000 miles on it!!! Currently its in the shop, for the throttle body, last month I formed out $900.00 for brakes! Paid $125 For evap. valve. Im sick of this unsafe cartel or junk. I dont even take my child around in it because its not safe!
Back in 2008 when GM was in trouble financially and I needed a car, my family purchased an Acadia. Part of our decision-making process involved supporting an American company. We really liked/like the car - the reliability is the overarching problem. To begin, there were a number of recalls resulting in many hours overall waiting at the dealer. If that were the only issue, I could deal with it. Unfortunately, that is just the beginning. We started having problems with the engine coils failing. First one - $400, a month later, another - $450. Four months later, one of the same coils that we had replaced and a different one - $660.00. Six months passed not without repairs (new radiator $700) and now the coils are a problem AGAIN! The dealer now tells us that ALL of the coils, the ECM and the catalytic converter all need to be replaced pursuant to a bulletin #PIP5038B which states if there are certain failure codes, which were present for us, that replacing less than all of the coils and other stuff, would result in future failure of the coils, problems with the brain and emissions. Total for this work - $2,931.72! Picked the car up and before arriving home, check engine light was back on! Can you believe it?? Dealer now states, which to be fair they had been working on and thought they had corrected, that the fuel injector is too clogged as a result of the coil problem and will need to be replaced - $765.00.My gripe - The coil failure appears to be a recurring issue which the dealer did not service properly initially replacing them one at a time resulting in our having to pay $1,510 only to have the same problem 6 months later. In that time, GM learned that they could not fix the problem 1 coil at a time and alerted their dealers in the bulletin. They learned while I paid but when the problem resurfaced due to the failure of their repairs, instead of offering to make good and apologizing for the additional inconvenience to me, they charged me an additional $3,000 which didnt fully fix the problem and now requires another $765. Who knows if that will be the end - perhaps there is a problem yet to be discovered with another fuel injector?I have spoken with the executive office and they offered to pay 50% of the current repair OR give me a voucher for $3,000 toward another GM product but I do not feel that this is fair compensation. I have had to expend $5500 on this car this year alone - not taking the additional $765 into account. One other note, GM continues to throw out that my car has high mileage which is a factor in the amounts they would offer. I purchased the car to drive, not preserve. I have taken care of the vehicle. Are GM cars only meant to go 100,000 and then die? Volvo and Toyota owners seems to expect 100s of thousands of miles but GM no? I dont see them advertising that.What would I like? For others to know of the problem. To be fully reimbursed for the monies we have had to expend in repairs to the coils so I can reinvest them in a new car that will actually work. Had a two door Honda and needed and wanted something bigger for car seats. Love how roomy the GMC Acadia is. Didnt want a minivan so this was a nice compromise. Bought used but it has been a great car for our growing family. Easy to purchase at the dealership. I wish it had bucket seats and changing the battery could be a little easier. Why is it in my floorboard in the backseat where my daughter sits?!
Purchased a 2013 Acadia Denali, not even a year ago. Suddenly, dealing with major oil consumption. Within 100 miles been down 2-3 quarts low. Been in and out of a dealership 3 times now (still under power terrain warranty). Dealer tops oil off and runs it around, says its fine. This is only happening to me according to them. People, I cant stress enough, these cars have been a headache since 2007, and even years later theyre still seeing more time than needed at a dealership. We have done nothing but baby this vehicle since we owned it at 60k. Now has 80k. 20k miles for this thing to start failing? GMC has been NO HELP. They keep directing me to a dealer. Dealer is either overfilling it and letting the overfill burn off or is dumping some sort of miracle job into the motor to get it to quit. Run far away from these vehicles. Theyll do nothing but give headaches and drain your bank account.
We too had to put in a new transmission as well as problem with steering wheel and stability track. We have put in close to $7,000 into this car that we paid $42,000 custom ordered. I thought at first it was because ours was being built when GMC went on strike but after reading comments thats not the case. Now we just find out that the piston is shot and we now have to put in a new engine with not even having 200,000 miles on it! This is crazy. GMC should be reimbursing us for this cost. The sad thing is I love the style and comfort of it just not all the extra money we have had to put into it due to GMC poor engineering. Please if anyone knows of a class action suit against them for this let me know. This is not right! They know they have a problem with it and wont make things right.
My GMC Acadia has really turned into a piece of crap of a vehicle backed up by a piece of crap company, GM. I purchased a 2011 GMC and immediately had issues. The gas gauge is defective, power steering makes noises, radio works intermittently, and water leaks into the vehicle from the rear sun roof. GM refuses to take responsibility or assist me with repairs. The attitude I have received has been miserable. DO NOT BUY GM products.
Bought my car brand new off the lot which at time Gm had used defective parts. I bought and paid for an astro start from authorized dealer. It has worked great on summer and winter days. Now because Gm recalled my car to fix ignition and cylinder that it put on my new car when I purchased it and in fixing their defective parts have disconnected my auto start which was fully functional and not defective. I am completely dissatisfied with the fact they expect me to pay to have it reprogrammed/reset out of my pocket! It worked fine and I already paid to have it programmed when I purchased the product... this is unacceptable to me as it was through no fault of my own. They put defective parts on my new car and they knew it!! I want resolution, either give me a credit to cover cost or offer to do it for me. I know I am not the only one who is affected by this situation. I urge people to speak up. This isnt right and do not let Gm get away with it. Gm you stink!! Not a satisfied customer here!!
Bought my 2008 new, 42,000, love the vehicle at the start but it has turned into a money pit. First of all vehicle started to float all over the road. GMC dealership changed rack, rear shocks and numerous alignments. Tire treads wore out from the outside in. They couldnt figure it out. Local mechanic took rear struts out and bushing fell out. Two sets of tires later!!! Then last year timing changes went stretched. Needed to be replaced $4,000.00, now the passenger air bag. Time for it to go.
I have a 2014 GMC Acadia that I purchased new. I have had a hesitation upon inclines for the past 6 months. Service says theres nothing wrong. Tech took a ride with me and confirmed he felt the hesitation too but computer says nothing wrong. Ive complained about it three times already. So now I have had my car almost stall twice in three days with my two kids in the car crossing over an extremely busy two-way road. The check engine light went on both times it occurred. Now my Acadia with 17,000 is at the dealer getting a new fuel injector!!! I will never buy another GMC!!!
I called GM because my 2008 GMC Acadia SLT FWD car is completely out of commission and was told to get a diagnostic from a local GMC Dealer and I had to pay for it out of pocket. But why would I take my car to a GM dealer to tell me my car’s problem isnt a recall related problem? I refuse to give you any of my money! I am very disappointed! The woman from GM said theres not any recalls on this vehicle but my seat belt chime wont stop dinging, my car wont drive at all, my RPM gauge is revving past 4, the power steering is very tight and locks up turning corners and parking. Thank god I wasnt driving on the highway when this started, it wouldve been a very bad accident. I cant believe this. I wouldnt have thought a reputable company would have invested in excellent parts and genuine work. I would never recommend GM nor will I ever waste my money on any of their vehicles again.
We bought a 2011 Acadia with 78k miles on it. Ive been a GM fan my entire life and trusted the name. It seemed like a great vehicle at first. We had some minor issues here and there but nothing too bad. My first aggravations were with the engineering of the vehicle. Changing the oil is a pain and the headlight bulbs are a nightmare. The air system decided to only blow hot air on the driver side, possible deflector failure. Good times for the summer. One day the engine started knocking.Immediately we parked it and towed it to our local shop. They started it to listen to it and the engine locked up. 6 months out of warranty (90k miles on it, but over 5 years) and GMC said well youre the second owner so we cant help you. 7k to put a new engine in. Im nearly 30k into the vehicle and max trade in is about 10,500 from a GM dealer. With the original engine and the new GM engine we average about 13-14 mpg getting 16 highway. My 04 Silverado gets 17. Ill never, ever buy a GM product again.
I bought a used 201 Acadia last February 2016. I had it a month and I started noticing the Service StabiliTrak light coming on. Not only did it come on it reduced my engine power. I took it back from where I bought it and the service department claimed it was some sensor. All was good. About three months after that I had to replace the engine mounts. Now it is almost a year later and the StabiliTrak system is out of control. This time I take it to auto shop and the service tech said it was the battery (which was dying anyway). So I replaced the battery and I had to get the heat fixed too because of some actuator thingy. So I am happy to get my car back the next day. I had to drive an hour from home to work on that Monday and as soon as I made it to parking garage it started again with Service StabiliTrak. SO when I get off 9 hours later I am thinking I can just disengage the system but I could not figure it out. I drove home with hazard lights and prayed it would make it to certified GMC dealership for service. Two days later they say it was the throttle body so I hope when I pick up my vehicle today the issue is resolved.
In 2007 when the first Acadia came out, I fell in love with it and its body style. We bought one and had very few problems, other than normal wear and tear. When we traded it in for a 2012 Terrain, there were 115,000 miles on the Acadia. We should have kept it rather than downsize to the Terrain. The Terrain, was not a problem either, but after having it for 16 months, I decided that I wanted another Acadia, which is what we did a week ago tomorrow. Never having had any major problems with the first Acadia, I thought surely the 2014 would be better, 7 years later. However, I was wrong.The past weekend, my husband and I drove to Louisiana for a funeral. On our ride there, the car ran smooth and no apparent problems were recognized. However, while away, on our way to the grave site the SUV began to shake and jerk, also making loud noises. It felt as if we were on a bucking horse. After about twenty minutes of this, it began to run smoothly again. Later that evening, the jerking began again, just not as long this time. On our way back home after driving possibly the first 75 miles, the jerking began a third time. That time it only lasted for about 10 miles, and did not repeat the action any more. When the jerking began, the Stability Trac signal came on. We had had similar problems with the first Acadia, but that did not begin until we had put 60,000 or more miles on it. This new one, has less than 300 miles on it. My dealership has been gracious in providing us with a loaner. Although the loaner is also a 2014, it is an automobile and not an SUV. Due to the fact that I previously broke my leg and fractured my ankle on the same leg, four years later, as well as having had to have a total knee replacement on that same leg. The Buick that we have been loaned, sits very low, even with being able to raise the seat, Never having gone through this before, I expected to get the same type or a very similar one, to what I have been accustomed to driving. We have not had a chance to get back to the dealership and my salesman, but plan to do so today, to see if they can put us in another SUV. I have also looked online to see if the 2014 Acadia is one of those being recalled, but have not been successful in finding out yet.Overall, my experiences with all three GMC vehicles weve purchased over the last 10 years, have been excellent ones. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone. As a matter of fact, I praised the 07 one to my banker so much, that she went out and bought one two years ago after test driving one of her own. She is still in love with it, and tells me she rarely uses her previous car which she thought she loved before getting an Acadia. Those of you who have had horrible experiences with your Acadia, must be in the minority, because rarely, if ever, have I heard an Acadia owner speak negatively about it. Friends of ours who had an Envoy, recently bought an Acadia after riding in ours. Sorry about your problems, but I would think you are the exception, not the norm.
First foremost I bought this car with 3 miles on it from Stadium GM Salem, Ohio in Aug of 2016- this is 2017 Acadia. Fast forward it’s March 1 of 2018. It all started driving 65mph on freeway and the dashboard says my cameras from back not working. I contact my dealer. He quickly responded saying he was unable to get me in till Monday. Ok thanks. Hang up then starts flashing airbags are in need of service. Dashboard lights are going on and off- flashing. Then I get to a red light few min later, stop and the car starts moving forward with my foot on brake. Almost causing me to hit the person in front of me. Mind you this car has a safety feature that automatically stops when I’m following someone too close -and now it moves forward on its own. Um what. Then I’m getting into turning lane to turn left into my work and it won’t stop so turn into work with foot on brake and coast and coast till it came to rolling stop.I put the car into park. I remove the keys, go to get out of the car and my door will not open. The car is still running -heat, radio, etc. My car alarm starts going off as I keep trying to open door from the inside of the car. I’m now currently locked into 2017 Acadia so instead of breaking the window I called the local cops. They arrived and was able to let me out. Ummm what if it was a 90 degree day and I have 4 kids in the car and your electric system stopped working like this so nothing like my automatic window/locks work? I would have definitely busted my driver window to get out of the car so we wouldn’t of died. In the meantime my car alarm was going off for 4 hours by itself and lights flashing etc till my lunch break. I go outside and try to attempt to start it and it’s still running! No keys. Heat/radio kinda like remote start mode has been in for 4 hours. Needless to say it will not physically start or come on. So as a mom of 4 working 2 jobs I am in need of help. Roadside service comes, picks the 2017 Acadia up - puts it on a flat bed. And takes me to my dealer. Brian their so called service manager says, “I told you I could see this car for another 4 days,” umm what??? Where would you like the tow truck driver to put the car? He tells them in the garage - goes on to tell me he doesn’t have rental. Umm what... Then he says, “Your car has 44 thousand miles on it even though it 1 year old. You will have to sit in service room till we figure out the 33 codes that came back on it. We are open till 6pm. It’s only 2:30pm.” After reading the first 9 he comes and said I’m lucky he found a rental. Awww how nice he found me a car to use out of the 200 plus on the dealership grounds. Maybe this one will not accelerate forward when my door is on the brake. Maybe this one will actually stop when my foot is on the brake. Maybe this one will not lock me inside of my own vehicle. I called the dealership for an update about a week ago. He said still wasn’t fixed, needed another part. I went to the dealership on March 20 2018 looking for help and trying to get explanations and was told nothing. Continue drinking the rental car. Mine is not safe or fixed...Fast forward to today March 22 the dealership has now almost had my car for the entire month. It is fixed- I arrived at dealership, handed my rental keys in then the service guys tells me I owe him over 6**.00. When talking to 3 different General Motors representatives in the past 22 days I was told my car has extended warranty. Don’t worry. The repairs will be taken care of.” Now yesterday the service guy Brian nowhere to be found left Another guy to tell me, “No, no. That’s not right. Your 2017 Acadia only has 3 year 36,000 miles. Even though it’s a year old it’s not covered.” So guess who doesn’t have 6**.00 to fix electrical/ 2 side modules replacement at 5:30 pm? This mom of 4 that already works 2 jobs. Mind you I just paid 879.00 car payment on the 3/18/2018 for this Acadia that I have driven in over a month.I call General Motors rep. They said under warranty - my dealer screaming at me saying it’s not and I’m not getting the keys to my car till the invoice is paid so I sat there in the service waiting area for someone to come pick me and my 2 small children up. They all left at 7:30-8:00 when dealer closes and left me sitting there until 8:40 pm. They don’t care this SUV almost killed me. They have no customer service. They actually just laughed at the fact this car is a year old and having this problem. Then to top it off he told me before he left at 7 that he’s not even sure this will fix the problem. My Acadia has failed me. My Acadia does have 44,000 miles on it at this time but I don’t care it’s a year old. I don’t care if it has 90,000 miles on it. It shouldn’t be having these problems it’s a year old.Sincerely one mom with 4 kids and 2 jobs with no vehicle because your GMC has failed me and the dealership you do business with could care less. How reassuring it is to leave someone in a dealership while they all get in their cars and go home and I sit with 2 of my children waiting on a ride. Then he says I’m not even sure this will fix it. General Motors you can keep the car.
Driving 45mph, when suddenly didnt seem to have power. Called my husband and he asked me to try a couple things and found out I only had 2nd gear. Had car towed to dealership where I was informed that clutch wave plate failed and required new transmission. Because Ive had the vehicle over 5 years, it wasnt covered under warranty. Cant believe with all the complaints on this transmission that GM isnt offering a recall or help with assistance. Ive talked 2 of my friends into buying Acadia because of my experience. Thank goodness they bought after 2010 which coincidentally GM revamped the entire transmission. Coincidence? I think not!
I believe that GM Company is a leading company especially in customer service perspective and this led all authors of customer service books to take GM as their main example. After studying and preparing most of my academic assignment on this giant company, I became a loyal customer to this respective brand and this point was really the most important factor which led me to choose the Acadia car. I experienced this since February 2010 and my loyalty was enhanced more than before; however after less than three years and less than 50,000 mileage, I was disappointed as I faced problems with the noise in my steering wheel where it became a redundant issue; however, this was solved. But in November 2011, I faced another sound inside the car when I press the brake. Though it has been solved, it happened again after less than one year and currently, I face the same issue! The agent here in Bahrain advised me that they have to change the master cylinders and the boosters. In addition to this issue, the rear door pumps had no pressure to hold the rear door. I spoke with the agent and argued with them about this. They agreed to change the master cylinders with the booster at their cost if I bear the labor charge cost which exceeds BHD 80/- (USD212)! Today, I found out that these two issues are common with all Acadia models. My close friend (his car reg. # **) is also facing the same issues. I am filing this complaint to take this issue up with the agent to waive all the charges, as its unbelievable that such nice car produced by a leading company has these issues and the customer is bearing the cost of repairing them! Im looking for a service to keep me satisfied.
Vehicle has good mileage, good Get up and Go, great extras to make a pleasant and safe drive. The car has many alerts such as tire pressure, oil change due and others that keep you aware of necessary things to do.
When is GMC going to admit that they threw quality out the window when they built this vehicle. Recalls are done only when its life and death. Right from the start, my headlight harnesses melted. Thousands of similar complaints online but no recall yet. Steering column, timing chain and the list goes on. Now for the shocker. I took my Acadia to the dealer because I received a Special Coverage Program 14582. My vehicle ran rough and the check engine light was on. That is exactly what the Notice described. I also asked the dealer to inspect the front end and steering because there was an outstanding power steering pump recall. After a few hours, the dealer called me back with the news.As per the email, my 2009 GMC Acadia with 150,000 km needed: replacement of catalytic converter bank2 $722.10, replacement of pre-CAT/post cal oxygen sensors $451.41, fuel system servicing recommended $169.95, replacement of spark plugs $295.40, evap purge solenoid $124.32, replace both front struts $952.86, replace both rear shocks $456.00, replace one broken engine mount $248.42, replace water pump $513.50, perform four wheel alignment $129.95, replace rack and pinion assembly $1,583.24, replace right front lower control arm bushing(s) $416.05, replace left front lower control arm bushing(s) $416.05, replace left rear upper control arm $541.12, replace right rear upper control arm $541.12, plus three separate @120.00. Diagnose charges for the check engine light, an oil leak and steering and suspension came to over $9,000.00.Sorry for the long-winded story. I only accepted the repairs that I thought were important. It came out to just over $2,000.00 and the Acadia seems perfect now. Moral of the story is that dealership service areas will attempt to build you a new car if you let them. I think they wanted me to give up on this SUV and head straight for their showroom.
Purchased my acadia in october 2008 built custom from factory. I love my truck, my idea was to drive it for 200,000 miles. But at 42,000 miles the transmission went out, all types of other repeated problems, but was absorbed thru the extended gmpp warranty I paid for. Now right after my 95,000 mile warranty is up, Ive moved into my next round of problems. At 105,000, transmission control module goes out 1,200$, water pump replacement (free) and thermostat replacement 480$, front end rack & pinion and struts 600$, car shuts off, all types electrical system going crazy. Today Im told 680 for a fuse box. I love the style and idea of the acadia but the company and dealers and crooks. I have an 08 kia optima I bought new at the same time. It has 90,000 miles on it and all I do to it is change the oil and they gave me free lifetime oil changes for that!!! I WILL NEVER BUY AMERICAN AGAIN!!!!!
I purchased an 07 Acadia two years ago with 80k miles and a 3 year warranty. Within the first month the transmission had to be repaired (SUV wouldnt go over 20 mph,wouldnt switch gears). The extended warranty covered the $3600 expense. Vehicle was in the shop for over a month. A few months later the steering was messed up and hissing loudly. The whole dash had to be taken out and I received new steering column amongst other things. Over $1500 repair covered by warranty. A few months later vehicle overheats, engine power is reduced. Cant drive vehicle. Not covered under warranty. Several hundred $$$ bill. Tire sensor light bad. Too much $ to fix. Still drivable. Few months later engine starts back-firing, driving very poorly. Every possible dash light is illuminated. Stabilitrak, traction control, engine, service all-wheel-drive (no oil light)- engine power reduced. Vehicle wont drive.Took it to GMC (who now knows me by first name but still screws me over every chance they get) and they said oil needed changed, after they did $200 in diagnostics. $300 later, I was out the door with no lights illuminated on the dash and a smooth running GMC. Got a lecture about the oil and how important it is to keep it changed and full.One month later ding ding ding- service traction control, engine power reduced. Car wont go! Checked the oil- it was still full. I still had plenty of miles left to go before my next oil change. Restarted the car- no lights. Drove fine except engine light on and remote start will not work when this light is on. A couple weeks later it happened again and now happens multiple times in one short trip. The vehicle cannot be safely driven in fear of this happening on a busy highway or while driving across the bridge with no emergency lane. Ive heard (and believe) its the sensor.However, Im so beyond sick and tired of this crap. The vehicle is nowhere near paid off and it wont run half the time. It hasnt ran well since I bought it. Problem after problem after problem. When I look online there are tons and tons of the same complaints. These Acadias are LEMONS. I have never in my life had so many issues with a vehicle, especially that even the dealers couldnt figure out what the problem was. Not sure how or why there isnt a class-action lawsuit. These vehicles are unsafe to drive. Has anyone contacted GMC corporate? SO INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED!
This is our second ownership of a GMC Acadia since it was rolled out in 2007. As a family member of a former GM Employee, we purchased a 2007 GMC Acadia under the GM Employee program. That vehicle was plagued with problems. DVD player issues, fuel injectors, radiator, engine coils, trim rattles, the list goes on. The problems were so bad that the car was being taken to the dealership monthly and in some cases weekly. In 2009, we reached out to GMC at the advice of our service manager. GMC offered us 3 free oil changes for our troubles. Hardly a repayment for all the problems we had with the vehicle. To make a long story short, I contacted the BBB, filed a complaint and GM purchased the vehicle back as a Lemon.In 2009, using the refund from the buyback through the GM employee program, we purchased another GMC Acadia. This time the current 2009. We were told by the dealership that all of the issues that plagued the initial roll out had been fixed. This is certainly not the case. Again, we have had the same problems with the car being in and out of the dealership on monthly and sometimes weekly basis. Fortunately, they have all been covered under warranty until this most recent wave of problems.Several of these issues have put my family and me in great danger. Very early on in the car, when the fuel injectors broke, we were traveling home from vacation when the vehicle powered down on its own (to protect the engine) in the middle of a very busy freeway, I could not pull it over. We were stuck with semi-trucks racing past and my children crying in the back seat. All I could do was pray we didnt get smashed from behind while we wait for a tow truck. Another time is when the wave plate exploded in the transmission. I was driving my newborn baby home from the hospital! My wife, fresh out of a C-section, and my 5 day old newborn are stuck on a freeway because the transmission broke (which GM knew about because they issued a Special Warranty for its repair.)For the past month, my car has been at the dealership, due to catalytic converters that are clogged and needing to be replaced, then the timing chain needs to be replaced (which GM issues a special warranty to cover the cost) and now I am being told that the oil pump, pickup tube, and oil screen is filled with sludge and will cost me $1,600 to replace. I change my oil every 3,000 to 4,000 miles or when the oil gauge on the vehicle says 50% remaining. How on earth is there that much sludge. Turns out, after doing an internet search, that this is a common problem with the Acadia and there are pages and pages of customer complaints saying the exact same thing! All of which GM denies.GM knows the Acadia is bad. My service rep says he has never seen a vehicle with so many special warranty items issued on the car. My car needs to be purchased back as it is unsafe and unreliable and GM says they will give me $2,000. Sad considering I have given them 2 chances now. GM will not stand behind their products or do the right thing. They have forever lost a customer.
I own a 2008 GMC Acadia. Bought it brand new with just 9 miles. My problems started at 70,000 miles. The first problem was even though my car is kept in the garage at home and work, it was left outside one night when it rained. My car to say the least was flooded. There was water pouring out of the vents of every single orifice possible and the floor boards were soaked. It was the fault of a part in the sunroof. When I called the dealer, they said, Oh yeah, there was a recall but not on your Acadia because your car was made in Texas and not Michigan or vise versa. Called GM. After yelling and screaming, they covered. It happened again 8 months later then again 10 months from that. I had to pay for the one after 10 months because the year warranty on the sunroof parts were up. Then came the transmission. After 77,000 miles, the transmission went out and I was on the side of the road... The dealer immediately calls a wrecker and gets me a car... I was thinking ok, this is where the dealer just flushed out the transmission and they messed something up... Here I am at 65,000 miles later and it needed transmission work again!! I called GM three times and they were able to pitch in $400 to help. Whats crazy is the dealer first told me $4800 before I spoke to GM, then changed it to $1400 after GM agreed to help pay $400. Now the sound system has completely gone whack. My car is making a static sound when the radio is off and when the car is off, my car makes a loud ear piercing popping sound from the speakers with the radio and car is turned off. My car loses sound completely - no radio, no blinker noise, no dinging sounds whatsoever including OnStar like 10 times a day... It just cuts off and on all the time at random. Ive been like some of you, a LOYAL GM owner for years and years. Ive never been so put off with a car before in my life and let me tell you, I owned some crappy GMs before, but this tops the list. For the gentleman that said you folks are the exception for GM problems with Acadia obviously works for GM and hasnt bothered to read the 100s and 100s of GMC Acadia forums out there on tons of other websites. GM does have a problem with the Acadia model and they are refusing to face facts. The one that I think is priceless is how they say there is a recall (safety seat belt light latest one and my car has this problem too) and yet your 2008 or 2007 GMC Acadia is not part of the recall... That one is priceless. GM is notorious for saying they have recalls but oh no, not on your car. Remember its on the car that was made at the other plant... LOL. I would seriously hope the lady in charge now with GM would read these forums but we all know that is not happening. Hear no, speak no....blah, blah, blah. Im done with GM... and I really hate that.
2007 GMC Acadia radio and sound issues - About a year and a half ago, we started experiencing problems with having no sounds for the radio, blinkers, seat belt, back up warning sound that a child or something is behind the vehicle etc. This is definitely a safety issue if the warning beep is not working when backing up. This happened off and on at first and then everything sound wise has stopped working now for the last 16 months. Except for about 30 minutes this summer when all of the sudden we had sound again. We have no idea what happened but the sound quit again and we have not had any sound since. GMC has said they dont know what the cause is and we should take the vehicle to the dealer to troubleshoot the issue. This will entail a repair bill of hundreds of dollars from what the dealer has estimated. I have read and heard this is a common problem with the Acadia. Looks like GM would step up and recall and fix all these issues everyone is having with the Acadia. Very disappointed with GM and their failure to resolve these issues.
Our 2011 GMC Acadia (18,500 miles) will be in the shop for the third time as of tomorrow within four weeks. Each time, it has been to a different dealer/shop for repair. The first two noted two very different issues, but it boils down to the fact that the vehicle has serious electrical issues. There are numerous complaints/threads about the 2011 Acadia regarding this issue, amongst others. We have contacted GM corporate/customer service (which takes us to Austin, TX) and have been given the runaround ever since. The vehicle actually lost power when I was on the road driving recently. I had no power to go forward, and could only reverse.We have serious concerns now about the safety of this vehicle, and the Texas customer service department, District Specialists, Jamal and Shareef (not sure how to spell Shareef, but I will spell it like it sounds), and Shareefs supervisor, Josh (**), have done nothing but brush us off, leave us waiting on the phone for an hour (literally). They tell us they will call us back at a certain time and then do not follow through, and give us attitude. The car is still not running correctly. Today Josh - who refuses to give his last name, refuses to give us the name of his boss and tells us we cant go above him, tells us to take it to the dealer (again) and if we are still not happy, they will look into swapping it out. Josh refuses to tell us what that process includes, or how long it may take. Keep in mind we have already been told this by Shareef, so they seem to like to keep pushing you off in efforts to not deal with you. Not one of them has seemed overly concerned about our safety. This is supposed to be our family car (three kids, two dogs), as well as our mountain car. We live in CO and are in the mountains about 2-3 times a month. What if the Acadia had shut down on us, or slipped out of gear like it did the first time and when we were unable to move, on a steep grade? Or on the mountain highways in general? The chances of us being hit and potentially killed are very, very high. There are very few places to pull over and people tend to drive fast.We are highly disappointed with the individuals we have dealt with in Texas, as well as ** who works for a Chevy dealer (who was supposed to have fixed our car this last time) on 120th Ave. in Broomfield, CO. He seemed to think that the car shutting down on me on a highly traveled road was somewhat normal and a safety feature. He said that all cars have problems, and we should just expect them. Needless to say, the runaround and lack of general interest in our situation makes me seriously question the product I bought from GM, and GM all around. I should have bought the Nissan Armada. We are sorry to have given GM our business at this point.As a side note, each dealership who was supposed to have fixed our car (GMC in Glenwood Springs and Chevy on 120th) returned our car back very dirty. Grease marks were on the drivers, passenger door and wheel (Chevy), and tons of dust and debris were coating the interior of our car, which indicates they left the windows wide open (Glenwood Springs). ** at Chevy offered us a coupon at a local car wash, but did not seem to care or think it was bad customer service to give us back the Acadia more dirty than it initially was. These were terribly customer service experiences all around.
I am on the brink of tears....again. My lemon Acadia is at the dealership with a nice list of new issues. GM literally made an awful product - unsafe and unreliable, and makes the customers pay for their mistakes. For years it rained INSIDE my car. I finally got them to replace my moldy floorboards and fix the leak (after putting social media pressure on them - they wanted me to pay at first). Im constantly having issues with my steering and engine. There is never NOT something wrong with my car and I am fed up. Its not right. I would LOVE to get together with other Acadia owners and see if we can file some sort of lawsuit. Email me if interested!
2007/2008 GMC Acadia needs to have its transmission recalled. Like everyone else out there with the early year Acadia and GM clone cars I now have a completely useless transmission. If you havent had issues with yours you soon will. GM customer care is there to listen and then to respond with there is nothing that they are willing to do. The reason for the wave plates breaking is GMs failure to harden the wave plates used within the transmission. An issue they corrected for the 2009 model. After calling around to numerous shops I have been quoted anything from $4200 to $5700 at the dealer. One shop owner told me its his favorite transmission, because its the one that pays his bills. Like I started I cannot believe this has not been recalled, if anyone knows about a class action lawsuit against GM for this issue or would like to pursue one I would be all ears.
I bought my 2009 Acadia new - I bought the extended warranty... Too bad I dont still have it now that my transmission has failed (Like MANY others). This car has been to the shop so many times, they all know me by name. Ignition coils all failed, and failed again, timing chain stretched (and now the transmission).. I also have an engine light on with an exhaust system problem. It goes on and on. I once loved this vehicle, but it has turned into the BIGGEST MISTAKE I have ever made in a car purchase. I can honestly say that after having 3 other cars purchased new, this has been the most troublesome piece of junk of all. I am so disappointed, especially after reading all of the complaints and problems here. I would NEVER EVER endorse the purchase of this vehicle. I am waiting patiently for the day I get rid of it--and will likely get nothing much in trade--theyre on to you GM.
For months we were seeing the RPMs running higher than they should. 5000 when trying to pass and they did not release soon after. Took it to dealer several times and they kept making adjustments but nothing changed. On a trip to Ottawa, we were putting gas in when we noticed a burning smell. We took it to a nearby dealership and he was finally able to figure it out. Our rear brakes were seized. After 40,000 km? How could we have prevented this and why didnt the local dealership figure this out before?
I have a 2009 GMC truck with 80 thousand KM on it. The transmission failed. I do not tow heavy lousy 14-foot boat and trailer with a 15hp engine on it. A 1.5 cylinder car could tow this boat. Cost me 3500.00 for replacement transmission. STAY AWAY from GMC trucks... or buy one and put 3500.00 aside cause youre going to need it!
Only good for the first 15,000 miles. Factory tires are a joke and made with softer rubber. GM is aware and it was the discretion of the dealership to share the info. At 18,000 miles I had 4 bald tires. They cover a portion of it under warranty. The tire guy has to call Michelin with the mileage and size of tread - if any. We did get 70% off new ones. Two days later I started experiencing the SHIFT TO PARK error. Its in park and I try to shut it off but it doesnt register being in park. This prevents the car from locking and causes nonstop dinging that will ultimately drain your battery. You have to turn it on/off again multiple times, jiggle the stick, hit the brake until it magically decides its good. It now happens EVERY time I shut it down. There is no fix. Again GM is aware and left it to the discretion of the dealership to share the info. Now Im stuck in a lease for a PITA car that I cant properly use. Save yourself the headache - buy something else!
My 2012 GMC Acadia, 45000 miles, 20 days under the 5 year warranty and the fuel rail fails. $1700 to repair and GMC said it that part is not under warranty. However, the fuel pump is, but not the rail to get the fuel to the engine. Ever hear of anything so stupid? Will carefully consider another make and model on my next purchase after that sting.
I bought this GMC Acadia in August of 2008. Brand new. I followed all scheduled maintenance recommendations set by GMC. At 78,000 miles while driving down the interstate, a hole blows in the side of the transmission stranding my wife and two young sons 3 hours from home. Naturally the factory warranty is up. BUT, I told my wife, This is why you buy from a company such as GMC, they will stand by their product, and help us pay for it. WRONG! GMC totally turned their backs on us! GMC customer service told me twice there is nothing they will do. They did tell me if I had taken it to a GMC dealer theyd look at it. Really? I cant drive it! Its at a private mechanic. What pay to have it towed again to a dealership so they can tell me they wont help me again then over charge me to fix it and make more money off me that I dont have??? NO WAY! The funny thing is, Ive read reviews of tons of people having this exact same problem with GMC and this Acadia transmission problem. Wake up GMC! I say this because not a couple months ago, I told my wife wed buy her a new Tahoe in July of 2016. NOT NOW! Im totally disgusted that a big company such as GMC, has no problem squeezing the little people of America!
We bought our 2007 GMC Acadia the year it came out in 2007… NEVER AGAIN! Immediately, we started having water leak in through the seatbelt casings & the lights. We took it to our nearest GMC dealer that supposedly fixed the problem. 2 months later, it started all over. After the 3rd attempt at fixing it & carpet replacement, we took it to a non-GMC auto body shop & they replaced all of the padding (which GMC DID NOT & pieced together carpeting), he was able to locate the problem & replace ALL of the padding & carpeting… again! Since then, we have a whirling sound whenever you turn the steering wheel (now its all the time). GMC says were low on power steering (we just filled it). Then they said, its a power steering cable issue. WRONG AGAIN! After replacing tubing to the power steering (supposedly) its still making sounds non-stop (8 years later & 2 replacements). Check engine light goes on; mechanic hooks up his diagnostic machine & now it says theres an electrical problem. Cant find anything, though. 1 week later, it goes off until a year later. Then it says, its power steering again. GIVE ME A BREAK! The tube looks good & theres brand new fluid. This month, the whole engine had to come out because the timing chain has gone bad. GMC states that around 100,000 miles, they know this is happening (Im at 92,000). The mechanic had to order a kit from GMC to fix this problem that they know exists. They send the kit… but, then require the mechanics to order a special tool kit (it doesnt come with the original repair kit; go figure) to put in this special kit.I get the car back, the engine light goes on AGAIN! Now theres a bubbling sound whenever you drive between 18mph & 45mph. The mechanics cant find whats making this sound. They hear it! And they are just as PISSED off with GMC as we are. They are not getting ANY HELP from GMC. So, the car is back in the shop, yet again.
Sat in the car using accessories on my lunch hour. Clock did not keep time. Hit the accessory button. Again it went back 4 min from where it was - overall lost 10 min every time I hit the accessory button. Has anyone else had this issue? Also very uncomfortable drivers seat. Supposed to be top of the line better than other models. When I took an SLE out for comparison that seat was much better. Go figure.
I bought this 2008 Acadia with 88,000 miles and got extended warranty. We have put 10,000 miles on it since December. Have had nothing but problems with power steering, windows leak, window regulator gone in passenger door. Abs light and traction light on and now bucks and skips between 30 and 50 miles an hour... GMC, thanks. You suck, Government Motors... Trying to trade in for Ford Explorer.. GMC, you need to stand behind your ** ups!!!!
They sold these with faulty timing chains and my car (07 Acadia) has 67000. miles on it and out of their extended warranty for the timing chain which they wont fix til it breaks so I will have to pay to fix. Terrible company. Terrible customer service. Totally never going to buy another car from GM.
I have owned more than 10 vehicles in my lifetime and the last seven have been new from dealer. This Acadia is the worst vehicle I have owned, new or old. Just over 30,000 it was burning oil excessively and the dealership could not figure it out. Numerous times at shop and still no fix. By the time we got to 70,000 GM had to re-ring the engine and replace the major of other sensors and components. I have probably spent over $3,000 in additional costs that were not covered by the GM Warranty or the GM extended warranty we purchased when buying the Acadia. Its Amazing how convenient it was that every problem we had was not covered by the extended warranty. Regardless the engine is a problem GM cannot figure it out. Google GM Acadia engine problems and you will have hours of reading in front of you. All with a common theme, the engine is a complete piece of garbage that you will be lucky to get 100,000 out of... Most of them seize around 50,000 to 70,000 and GM will NOT cover the repair under warranty. They simply will not take ownership to this problem so do yourself a favor and avoid this headache completely. This is my 4th GMC and without a doubt my last. I will never buy another GM Product for rest of my life which hurts me to write because I have 3 kids I have been preaching Buy American to all their lives. Now that my wife and I are buying the kids the first cars, it will greatly reduce the dealerships we have to look at. I have to clarify that the reason I will never buy a GM product again has very little to do with the Acadia I own. It has to do with the entire fleet and the fact that GM knows its an inherent problem with this Engine but wont take ownership. My engine that has been burning engine since 30,000 needs new heads and valves due to wear from lack of oil, a problem I pointed out in the first 2 years. GM does not think its their problem and they offered me $3000 towards a new car. My car is 4 years old and they want me to trash it. If that is GM customer loyalty, then I need to find a new manufacturer of automobiles. Save yourself the countless trips to the service dept because this vehicle is a problem child that burns oil and your hard earned dollars.
I have loved the 2017 GMC Acadia. I had a wonderful experience so far. It drives very smooth, it has a ton of space to fit my family, and has a luxurious feel to it. We have 5 kids, three of which are teens. They require a lot of space for all of their activities and this car provides me with the space to fit everything. We also travel a great deal so space is important. A couple of the accessories pop out every now and again so that could be better. One of the air vents falls down occasionally, as well as one of the rivets on the headrest, but they pop back in. Other than that, we have put a ton of miles on the car and the only problem we have had is that we need to change the tires.
The horse power in this vehicle is amazing, 310hp stock. The engine under 60 miles an hr kicks over to a 4 cylinder to conserve gas. With my long commutes each day I can get 450 miles out of the 22 gallon tank.
The vehicle would not shift out of 2nd gear going down the highway. The check engine light came on, and there are now four codes all for internal transmission issues. The car is 4 months past the 5-year warranty, but only 64000 miles. This is a huge safety issue. If this transmission fails while on an interstate highway, and it will not go over 20 mph, the results could be deadly. By researching this issue, I have found a considerable amount of complaints about 2007 GMC Acadias between 50,000 and 80,000 miles having transmission failures, but yet no recalls. This is an issue that GMC is well aware of, through their own admissions. Why is there such a delay waiting for a recall? Are all of the complaints going to have to wait for a fatality before GMC admits there needs to be corrective actions?
We bought a used 2009 GMC Acadia from a private owner less than a year ago and weve already dumped $6000 into it. The transmission is the main & most recent thing to be replaced. My transmission went out at 130K. I lost 3rd gear 4th gear and reverse and had my 2 kids under age 2 in the car with me. Weve had the new transmission in for about a month and already its missing and jerking as it shifts. There is also a continual issue with acceleration while turning left, it sound like metal vibrating together or clattering in the engine that gets increasingly louder as you accelerate and the power seems to bog down at the same time. Seems every time I take it to the shop they replace this or that (I cant remember the long list of specific things) and it drives fine for a few weeks and then these same problems start happening again. Im taking it to a GM dealership next week - hoping they can do a better job of pinpointing the issues than our local mechanic. At this point I want to get rid of it but we just put in the new transmission, my husband thinks we need to keep it forever but Im certain its nothing but an expensive headache. I love the cosmetic features of this vehicle and the upgrades but the engine sucks! So disappointed, I will NEVER recommend this vehicle to anyone.
2012 GMC Acadia Denali - I went into the GMC dealer to purchase a Yukon Hybrid. I was told that they were discontinued for the 2013 model year and was recommended to look at an Acadia Denali because it had more room than a Yukon and got much better gas mileage. Boy what a mistake! I had also been entertaining the idea of a Yukon XL (think Suburban) because I wanted to make sure I had plenty of room for my growing family. I was led down a path of cost savings on fuel with the Acadia. It was posted 22 HWY and 17 City. With our mixed driving, I expected to get on the worst day - maybe 17. Instead I get 13 MPG! They tell me nothing is wrong! Please! I rent Suburbans when I travel (I rent about 100 times a year!) and I consistently get 15 MPG or better - with so much extra room! Now I am stuck with another 30 payments for this lemon.
I purchased a 2010 GMC Acadia 2 years ago. I was driving on the Bear Mountain Parkway when my car just lost power. I had my car tow to an auto repair when they indicated that my engine blew. I had oil in my car. My warranty was done. Now Im stuck with a big car note and a Lemon car. I called GMC. They wont stand by their product. Stay away from buying an Arcadia. Read all the reviews before. My mistake was not to read the reviews and to buy an American car. DONT DO IT!!!
2007 GMC Acadia - Just left home, driving along at 25 mph and my transmission stopped working. The car just stalled. Point blank. This really is awful as I have read that GMC hasnt issued a transmission/powertrain recall? Is this true? Acadias are not cheap and less than 65,000 miles, this happens? Oh and the kicker, GMC chat personnel tells me that I MAYBE can be qualified for assistance to pay for repairs! I am so angry I will never ever buy another GMC product again and will tell everyone my experience!
In April of 2012, my husband and I decided to purchase a brand new 2012 GMC Acadia. Since then we have been taking this car to dealership for different problem. First, we felt the engine shake multiple times, especially in the morning when we first start the car and sometimes when shifting gears, dealership said no problem with transmission. In less than 2 years, our headlights went out and that had to be replaced. Buttons on dashboard already peeling off, gas tank sensor is off, it stops filling up before tank is full. It has been raining in California, 2-3 days of rain, we start the car, and there is completely no sound coming out of the speaker. We take the car to the dealership and they say that water accumulated somewhere in the sunroof and did not drain and caused electrical to short circuit. They want $1600 to fix. I really thought this car was great, size was perfect for my family, but unfortunately, I was wrong.
Bought a 2008 Acadia SLT FWD used from a GMC dealer. Ironically, about the same time as two of our friends. So far, it has been a complete disaster. The worst car we have ever owned and our friends have had a never ending list of similar issues. It started with the little knobs in the car just falling off. The first to go was the lumbar support knob on the drivers seat. Then the airbag light comes on and off for no reason. The reverse parking system consistently flashes a message that it needs servicing so we have shut it off at about 60,000 miles. Beware: this car is heavy and it eats tires, rotors and brakes. We are at 98,000 miles and have had 3 sets of tires, new rotors and new brakes. To top that off, the struts and shocks needed replacing at about 90,000 miles. At 98,000 miles (today), we are being told we need $5,300 in repairs to the car for a water pump, transmission (please look on the internet for this before you buy. Their transmissions are terrible and shift poorly), and engine rebuild. Overall outside of oil changes, we will have spent over $8,000 in repairs on a car we have driven just at 60,000 miles which is horrible. The gas mileage on these is not great, we get just about 16.5 miles per gallon on this car. Did I mention the sunroof leaks more than the Titanic during the rain. It just pours in at the drivers sun visor. Bring a towel on a rainy day. If you think this is unique, think again. You can search Acadia leaky sunroofs and there are tons and tons of them. If anyone thinks I am exaggerating, just do some basic searching on the problems I have listed, they are common. There are a ton of service bulletins out on these cars for all kinds of issues. Again, do not buy one of these. I repeat: do not buy this car. Did I mention the air conditioning will just shut off for no apparent reason? Ours does.
My wife and I bought a 2011 Acadia with like 6 miles on it new. From the start my wife stated (its her vehicle technically) that it was making a wamp sounding sound from the front passenger wheel after 30mph, I figured it might have been the treads making that sound, at 85k now the original tires still on are worn from the inside out. Then the check engine light came on early at like 25k. I thought I was gonna escape the Acadia curse but then the TV stopped working and the radio quit working for about 4 hours unexpectedly, and somehow fixed itself. Now I have been seen once by the dealer for the seatbelt recall, the corrosion on the plug under the seat recall, and they looked for sign of water pump leak recall. Well guess what, at 75k supposedly no sign of water pump seal but now at 85k I get home and see a small red puddle under the truck, you guessed it after looking for leak looks to me to be a water pump leak with small aluminum shards of metal in the coolant reservoir. As I have a scheduled appointment with dealer 03/20/15, for new tires, recall repair and alignment. I will have them re look at it and I swear if I hear I have to pay for the water pump, my head will spin like the exorcist and be calling my lawyer. I had a 2002 Pontiac grand am gt that I had nothing but problems with since day one, long story short ended up with an arbitrator through the BBB and got reimbursed for work that was not covered under warranty. My wife advised me if this truck became a problem like my Pontiac, she and I would never buy GM again. Fingers crossed for Thursday as this vehicle was designed to carry my 3 year old and now 5 month old children in and so far I feel like GM is really putting up a middle finger to loyal customers and letting down new ones.
After I tow my new acadia awd denali, even for a short distance, the vehicle will back up but wont go forward until I turn it off several time and let it run for a long time, until the fluid lubricates the awd system. Have taken to dealer with no satisfaction. Is anyone else having this same problem?
Recently, I have been noticing water coming down into my GMC Acadia during rain fall, to the extent that the car carpet was soak in water. I noticed the traces of water under the driver side dashboard and the holding handle on the front passenger side. Please, does anyone know the cause of this leakage?
I purchased a new 2012 gmc acadia, in September 2012. Right the first months I had to take it back for 2 issues noticed then: sound/noise heard during cold start and both of the rear interior panels were scuffed. After phone calls and many attempts, these issues were in a way fixed but had to lower my standards. Then, right my very first year of use, the major issues began. The AC (first summer is when I noticed) did not work properly, I live in Vegas with triple digit temperatures during summer, and the ac did not work. Also, the motor started to leak oil. These are the major 2 issues I have had since my first year of owning this LEMON! every year, I have to take it in for the same issues.Just recently called GMC and asked them if they were going to stand behind their product, that they have evidence this vehicle is a LEMON, same issues for the last 4 years in a row now. To not surprise, they are not. They treated me like an idiot, and of course to no surprise, there is nothing they can do for me. Except, oh yeah, they can HELP me with a TRADE!!! It has been weeks waiting for them to call me with a status on my complaint with GMC, and then they had the nerve to call me and advised me of this. This is worse than an insult. Please, do NOT buy ANY GMC, vehicles are expensive as if youre getting the best quality but they are robbing peoples money, please be smart, think what you are buying, do your homework. You can see thousand of complaints just like mine, GMC does not manufacture/sell reliable products/vehicles. They just sell to make money without thinking of what they are selling. Just thinking of sales/numbers for themselves. While we are here making a complaint or reading about it, CEOs are in a gateway with our monies!!! Any advise would be helpful, if youve been in a situation like mine, please tell me how did you handle the outcome. Or if we all together can do something to stop these big companies STEALING our money and making us go through all of these things and inconveniences!! ENOUGH!!! THANK you.
My 2010 Acadia is needing its 3rd water pump. I have already had to have the struts replaced and now the dealership is saying I need them again. I am being informed my timing chains are stretched and need replacing too. This has truly been the worst vehicle I have ever purchased and will definitely steer clear of making that mistake again. Despite the multiple complaints over many of these same issues, the only thing I can get covered under warranty by GMC is the water pump... of course, the least expensive thing to fix. Its a shame the company will not help the consumers out, but in the end, they are only hurting themselves. Never buying GM again!
Electrical problems..low oil, airbag & low tire pressure sensors going off. Sensor goes off tells me to shut the engine off. Transmission slipping. Acadia stops in middle of traffic.
Since August 2010, have replaced fuel tank, replaced radiator, replaced #1 ignition coil. #4 cylinder missing, engine has no acceleration power and service engine soon light flashes. Cause: fuel block connector. Locate misfire on 3 cylinders. No power at injectors 2, 4, 6. Replace cat converter, replaced other cat converter, Intermittent misfire under hard accel on #2 cyl. Leaking #2 coil and fouled #2 spark plug. Premature timing chain, Timing chain slippage, Reported problems with cylinder #4. At this point seems all cylinders/spark plugs have been rotated, replaced. Would like to go 6 months + without recurring problems.
GMC Acadia 2008 - I had a problem with my steering making a squeaking sound and getting harder to turn. I took it to gmc to have it checked. They found nothing in Oct.2014. The noise got louder, the car currently has 25,095 miles on it. Now I am being told the rack and pinion is leaking and needs to be replaced. The car has never been in an accident and has had all of the maintenance kept up. I received a letter from gmc saying they would replace the power steering pump if I had a problem, gmc does not consider this to be part of the pump problem, therefore they will not cover it. I spoke with a gmc rep. reference # ** today.
From a loyal GM household that has bought 13 new GM vehicles in 25 years, I am fed up and looking for a new manufacturer that cares about their customer. My 2009 GMC Acadia SLT1 has had nothing but problems since the warranty expired. The transmission went out literally on a trip when I rolled past 100,00 miles and stopped for gas. Had it diagnosed at a trusted independent shop and was told I need a new transmission. Called GM Customer Care and elevated the case and was told I was 3-4 months past the 5 year warranty. Needed a GM diagnosis. After 3 days of frustration, I called the service manager at my GMC dealership. He told me this is a known problem on early the year build, wave plate disintegrates causing havoc. Said it would be two weeks before they could look at it since they had several others ahead of me, then another week or two for the repair. GM would only consider helping on the repair after the work is completed and would at best kick in 20-25% based on their experience. Could be as high as $4500. I could not wait and had my independent guy replace the transmission at $3300, a discount of $200.This was soon after I had to replace struts. Then I get a low pressure, stop engine warning. Had it towed and could not find cause or repeat. Now the A/C is out and cause cannot be determined in leak test. Dealer guess is that based on odor coming out of vents, it is likely the evaporator, an estimated $1600 repair. Vehicle has 108,000 miles, is garage kept and well maintained.After this, plus having the timing chain replaced (under warranty) and numerous recalls, I have lost confidence and wanted to trade it in. The dealer low balled the trade offer because of the A/C. I called GM again looking for some sort of loyalty goodwill. In over two weeks, after elevating to a senior customer care rep, all I have gotten is broken promises on call backs, repeated inquiries to repeat my story. Last promise was I would hear back same day or in 24 hours (last week). Nearly a week has passed and I am left assuming they hope I will just go away.Looks like I will be going away....to another OEM. Loyalty built GM, treatment like this and faulty products will continue the decades long slide in market share. I cannot recommended GM to my children or their friends. Who will be their customer of the future? GM makes great big SUVs and Trucks...all else is a roll of the the dice. 25 years and out....later GM. Should be a class action suit on the transmission. AC problem is a common problem, too, I am told. Time to test the New GM, and leaderships claim of new transparency.
I have a 2012 Acadia. Once again, another recall! Absolutely no reimbursement from GM for all the days spent inconvenienced. As well, we have been back 4xs to the dealer for the passenger seat sensor. Airbag light continues to come on. Dont feel safe at all in this vehicle.
We bought a used 2007 Acadia, I love it. I needed the roomy SUV. I have twin granddaughters, 2 yrs old, that I watch while their parents work. I also take my 80-yr-old parents where they need to go, so I needed the room. My Acadias AC quit!! I didnt need that. I took it to the dealer where I bought it, they said my ac line had rubbed against a bracket and had a hole in it. OK, I thought it couldnt cost that much to replace a line, Wrong!!!! The line is in behind the motor, against the firewall of the SUV and that they would have to pull the motor to get to it!!! COST: estimate is over $1500!!! I cant afford that. I retired the day before from driving a school bus, no way can I afford that. The next day I took it back to the dealership to trade it in. I gave $14,500 for my SUV just 5 mo ago, so I thought I had paid enough on it to at least get pay off, Not!! They offered me $9,600 for it because they would have to fix AC!!! So far, I havent fixed the AC, I will have to rent a vehicle to take my parents on vacation in Sept. This is just crazy. If anyone else has had this problem, please let me know if there is a better solution to this problem.
I never paid attention to my expense on fixing the GMC Acadia 2009 since I bought it brand new. This car has been a pain in my rear end. Since I bought the car, I have changed the timing belt, put a new transmission, and two years ago, the engine stopped. The vehicle was towed to a GM dealership for repair. The mechanic told my wife that the engine is full of sludge and needed to be replaced. He also told my wife that the reason the vehicle was in a bad shape was because we never took care of the vehicle. My wife called me and explained what the GM service agent told her. I called the guy and had him pull the service record on the vehicle which was under my name. It was then that the service guy realized that since we bought the vehicle, they had been servicing the vehicle for us. I reminded him that whatever was wrong with the car was caused by them since they have been the maintenance personnel from jump street. He then fixed the vehicle and that cost us about 2000 dollars instead of 5000 dollars and change that they quoted my wife.Now the vehicle had check engine check light come on. We took the vehicle to the mechanic to figure out why the light came on. After their diagnoses, he told us that they had to change the Ignition coil, spark plugs, Intake gasket kit e.t.c. This whole thing cost me $1,999.51. Before I picked up the vehicle, the low oil pressure light came on. They checked the oil and it was full. They drained it, flushed the lines and storage place for the oil two times and after driving the vehicle for a quarter of a mile, the low oil pressure light came back on. They finally told me that it was a sludge problem. I called GMC and reported the problem for them to tell me to take it to the same GM group that told me two years ago to change the engine for a new engine. The kicker is that now that Ive paid off the note on the car, with a new engine it would have another 100,000 mile warranty. And it would cost me $7500.00 dollars to do that. GM knows what they are doing and they take our money and take us for a fool. I wish someone could advise on how to take this people to court and make them pay for their wickedness. We cannot continue to pay for junk.
I have a 2008 GMC Acadia, bought new and now only have 49,154 miles on it and the transmission has gone out. The dealership wants $4200 to take it out and put a refurb in, no opening it up or looking at it. GM says they wont recognize that there is a problem with their Acadias and the transmissions and refuse to recall costing consumers thousands! GM is willing to put $1200 towards the fix but they require that it is opened up and looked at before fixing. Once that happens they will decide whether it is repaired or a refurb is put in. But this takes my rights away. If they choose it gets fixed, then it comes with a 12,000 mile/1 year warranty. If it is replaced then it comes with a 100,000 mile/3 year warranty. I dont get to make this decision though if I accept their terms. What kind of help is this? Everywhere I have read, it will only be a matter of time before the transmission goes out again. :( Also to note, we have had to replace both headlights for wiring issues, replace the water pump, and have all the seals replaced in the moon roof and sun roof!
I purchased a 2015 GMC Acadia in September 2014. The steering wheel shakes terribly. Ive brought it to the dealer several times. At first they said the tires had flat spots and would correct itself. Then they did a special wheel alignment on it. 40,000 miles later and having brought it to other shops (shops specializing in tires) I am still having the issue. In March 2015 (6 months after purchase) I had to have the brakes, rotors, brake pads, calipers, --everything replaced at a GM dealership in Florida as the rear brakes etc were completely rusted out. They had to use a sledgehammer to get things off. In September 2015, I had to have the same rear brake parts replaced as they had rusted out again!I used to drive 100,000 miles a year and never had this happen. Now I drive 20,000 and the brakes are rusting out. Ive lived in the same area for 60 years, so its not that Ive moved. I love the Acadia - but with the shaking steering wheel and the brakes rusting out, I wouldnt recommend buying it. Also the XM radio goofs up (not a big deal but it does happen) and they installed their WIFI in the Acadia and it shows theres a signal, but you cant use the WIFI.
2008 GMC Acadia - So far purchased 2010 45k. When it rains the interior smells like a smelly gym locker. I replace headlights two times. The broke transmission second gear and reverse $1500. Thats no labor charge. My husband is certified mechanic. 4 recalls on it? Filling car with gas, the car wont start after doing so. Acceleration problems, air condition problems. I Do regular maintenance every 2500 miles. Not happy and still paying for it. The body is nice and well its a piece of junk. I will never buy one again.
I got a 2016 gmc acadia in oct 2015. Weeks after I noticed a noise coming from the engine. Took car in Dec 2015 and was told there was a problem with the sln valve faults p05cc, p05cd, p05cf, and p05ce. Dealership replaced all 4 actuators. Contacted gmc and told them that my vehicle is a lemon. Earlier this year started to have same problem informed dealership. Sunday 8/7 coming back from an outing got a ln alert on dashboard engine overheating. Had to pull over. Had vehicle towed to dealership, diagnostics engine is damaged. They had to order a new engine which will take about 2 weeks. Contacted gmc, open case and have not heard back. I just want for them to buy my car back because they sold me a lemon. Brand new car I should not be having these problems.
We purchased the vehicle brand new. We began having problems immediately back and forth reporting issues. Beaman could not detect or duplicate the issues other than the recall problems. Ex of problems ranged from numerous recalls windshield, lights, condensation, time chain, and repeated issues with the transmission. The vehicle was under warranty. The problems with the vehicle continued. In 2012 the vehicle was paid off and warranty close to expiring. In May 2012 we left the vehicle with Beaman (transmission) while out of town. We picked up the vehicle and was told they could not duplicate the issue. Beaman advised us the vehicle was design to run and function that way. The following week the vehicle stopped. It was towed to another GM dealership. My second complaint to GM on May 16, 2012 - warranty expired. The service team determined the issue. Software components were damaged tied to the transmission required replacing. The service manager was able to convince GM to pay. My case Id still open. We continue to have issues with this transmission. This is clear to be UDAAP.
Our 2009 GMC Acadia has had 2 water pumps replaced, catalytic converter, front suspension, timing belt cover leak all have problems in the last couple months. This thing is a money pit. Worse vehicle ever. I will never ever buy a GM vehicle again. I think a class action lawsuit is needed.
Ignition issues. Took car in twice. Only had the car few days after buying it at Cherry Hill Mitsubishi, and have been stuck and stalled at gas stations, in parking lots, etc. If anyone knows issue or resolution - it is GMC Acadia 2014 SLT-1. Disappointing experience all around.
For those of you who are researching Acadias for your future car, I would like to share that my 2014 Acadia Denali has been to the dealer 5 times for repairs/replacements parts in the past 9 months. My car currently only has 13,600 miles on it. At 4900 miles I had the Vacuum Brake Booster replaced. At 8500 miles I had the Master Cylinder Replaced. At 8900 miles I had to have the car towed because the stabilitrak went out and they replaced the Brake Pedal Position Sensor. At 10,400 miles they replaced another Vacuum Brake Booster. And finally at 13,600 miles I had the Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve replaced. All of that happened in the first 14 months of the car. I now own a very expensive car that cannot go an oil change without multiple repairs being made in between. GMC has been non responsive until my state DMV contacted them. It is so disappointing to purchase a car that has no integrity and then try to work with GMC who only will respond if I escalate to a legal matter. I would think GMC would be pretty embarrassed to know their car has had so many failures but they are not even interested. Who knows what my 2nd year will look like but I would have wanted to have read this information prior to my purchase. The dealer making repairs has been nice, but again it is a such a pain to go up there 10 times for drop off and pick up. I traded in my MDX because the Acadia had bigger 3rd row and other features I wanted but in the end I will take a smaller car than drive a car that I constantly have to worry will break again.
My 09 Acadia has had so many problems - I wish I never bought it. The timing chain has been replaced THREE times! Once at 26k miles, once at 83k miles and now again at 111k miles. In addition to that...there have been so many other issues (tranny has been taken apart and rebuilt twice). GMC offers coverage up to 120k miles on the chain, but I wasnt aware of that when I took it to my shop. Now they wont even help cover any of the costs when I provide full, detailed, back up. I love the car when its running, but Id suggest to stay away from Acadia. Theyre really garbage.
I have had this 2009 Acadia car into the dealer many time for many recalls. One got it back and it left me on the side of the road. Now it has a bad timing chain. And the dealer tells me I was low on oil, sends me home. Light back on and timing is the problem. They will not fix it said its the motor. I bought a extended warranty that covers this. GMC GM still will not fix it. I am a mother of 3 and this is got to be the lowest thing a car company can not stand by.
We bought a used 2010 Acadia with 30,000 miles. Engine had to be replaced when we had it 3 months, fortunately still on manufacture warranty. Then recall notice after we paid $200 to repair electronic system. Windshield wipers failed and had to be repaired. Now air conditioner needs to be replaced. Stay FAR, FAR away from ACADIAs. Dont purchase. Money Pit!!!
I am the owner of a 2008 GMC Acadia. This vehicle has approximately 78,900 miles on it. Due to transmission issues, which is still covered under my powertrain warranty, it has been at Cooper Buick GMC in Monroe, LA since last Tuesday, 5/29/12. I was informed that GMC will only furnish me a rental for five days. The rental was picked up on Thursday, 5/31. Today, I was informed that I must return the rental. I am employed and must have transportation. I feel that as long as the dealership is holding my vehicle for warranty work, GM should furnish me with a rental. I am highly upset about this. My husband and I were seriously considering purchasing another Acadia but unless this issue is resolved, we will never purchase another GM product and will make sure other customers, friends and relatives are made aware of this situation. We are not wealthy and a rental vehicle is not in our budget. This is creating a difficult situation for us. Please respond to this complaint as soon as possible.
Only 38000 miles (2013 GMC ACADIA SLT) and rear AC evaporator and blower failed. Dealer wants $1300 and GM will not acknowledge this problem and do a recall. Not buying another GM again. This is a common problem.
I purchased a used 2008 GMC Acadia in May 2017. Ever since I purchased this vehicle I have had nothing but problems. I purchased this vehicle because my daughter is a senior in high school and I knew that we would be needing it to travel from state to state for college tours. Ever since I purchased we have not been able to travel because of the continuous light to come on, continuous codes that comes on and it causes the car to run horribly. I am spending $20-$30 a day on gas and Im also noticing that the oil is just evaporating but Im not seeing it on the ground. I continue to take it to the mechanic. He continue to fix things that the codes gives him. Im still spending money and Im still not getting any results.I have not been able to travel in this vehicle because I refuse to get on the highway with my child and breakdown in the middle of nowhere. What we need to do is start a petition with GMC because if everyone is having these problems then it is a serious problem. I am to the point where I am ready to start a lawsuit. I mean lets be honest. What are we waiting for. Either us or one of our loved ones to die and is known death trap. There are so many recalls on this vehicle that all of them should be just called in and repaired. Apparently its a problem with GMC assembling the vehicle and they do not want to own up to their responsibilities and its not fair to us that our lives are at stake. Im also tired of the ongoing altercations with the mechanic and my money that I keep on spending.
Bought brand new out of showroom and transmission went 6 months in. Car was too new to get new parts so had rebuilt done. After that it went out again at 75,000 and had to pay because past warranty. Now on 3rd tranny and rear axle is out and starter. This car is a complete nightmare and stuck with it.
We have a 2011 GMC Acadia, 53,000 miles later still no issues. The only issue we have had is a wiring issue. The lights didnt work right so we got it fixed. We have not had an issue since and couldnt be happier with this car. Great job GM, the only reason why these others are saying bad things about it is because they are nothing but full-blown HATERS! This car is absolutely amazing. Plus everyone knows not to bring their cars to the dealership unless its under warranty because they LIE about things that are broken or it still works they just want their money. If its under warranty sure but if not take it to a family repair shop. Overall the Acadia is WOW.
I have a 2013 GMC Acadia with 20,000 miles that has to have the entire engine replaced! After a 2006 GMC envoy horrible experience it took years for me to even buy a GMC again. The envoy was two years old and transfer, several electrical things, hinges for back door, headlights, pedal adjuster all went out. At 3 years the engine cylinder blew, I had a elevated case with go and they did nothing for me at all when the engine blew! Finally a GMC service manager got the job done and I traded that piece of crap lemon in! Now I have engine problems with yet another GMC? Unbelievable! I either pick winners or all GMC cars stink! I can only imagine the problems I am going to have now!
Bought a 2009 GMC ACADIA in 2008 for 42,000. I took it in dozens of times starting at under 5000 miles for loud idling, banging sounds, sludged engine, steering loss, drastically dropped fuel economy, etc. Given one excuse after another claiming oil not changed enough despite receipts proven I had. GMC claimed I had never brought it in for oil changes there. They also claimed they had no record of several of the times I brought it in to them while on warranty. I produced receipts from the dealers service department that showed I had. Every time I brought it in they claimed they could not hear probs, couldnt recreate the steering etc. Right after the warranty expire the same service manager who had said probably 5 times he couldnt hear the prob or recreate the steering issue says as he drove it back Do you know your steering is out and sounds like your engines going to need to be replaced? Fast forward years later and they finally did a recall on the steering so that is fixed. The transmission is now on a 120,000 mile extended warranty. They it out to avoid another recall - Timing Chain recall that if you try to have down they claim it has been done even though no record. I take it to another dealer and he says flat out GMC refuses to replace the failed engines that are failing in all these models. Funny I guess we all didnt do our oil right huh? Im ready for a class action suit. Contact me to join. The steering, timing chain and transmission recalls and extended warranties are all because of class action suits. Lets do this people. They cant keep selling expensive pieces of junk to good honest hard working American families.
At 60,600 miles, just out of warranty, my coil failed. Now at 67000 the catalytic converter has failed. None of this should be happening in a well designed engine but we are told it is the cooling that causes this. Our mechanic said the carbon build up is extraordinary and to get rid of the car. I have 3 other friends who have 09/10 Acadias, and are all seeing similar issues (2 have coils fail). So its just a bad design. Shame, it was a pretty car and would have kept it for the long haul if it wasnt so poorly designed.
We bought a 2009 Acadia in summer of 08. This spring of 2014 at 54,000ish miles we started having issues. Because of the catalytic converter and engine design, buildup from the fuel caused the cat to go and burned up a couple of coils on the engine. We also have a steering wheel issue. The mechanism could go at any time. We keep losing oil on that because of a broken gasket. Because of the way its designed instead of just replacing that one small part we have to replace the whole thing, $1100. Luckily the dealership did us a good turn and replaced the cat for free even though it was not warrantied and paid for our car to be towed since it could not be driven there. We paid for labor and other maintenance replacements. Between the two car repairs we spent about $1400.I didnt leave feeling very confident that this wouldnt happen again. I was told to only put Chevron gas in the car, mid grade or higher. I would even go so far as to put fuel cleaner (highest quality they make) in with a new tank of gas for extra insurance now and then. I would also recommend before 30,000 miles or before 60,000 miles, that you get your transmission flushed. They have a program that will give you $2000 or $1000 towards a new transmission should it go out if you are good about maintaining your vehicle. Its like a maintenance reward program.The dealership repair guys were great. Although I am very disappointed in a $40,000 vehicle that would cost us this much before 60,000 miles. We never had these troubles with our Subaru or Nissan. Our car still doesnt run great and we still need to put more money for repairs into it. If GMC would put more effort into improving their mechanical end, their products would be awesome. I wont buy another GMC though. Just not worth it for all the repair costs and hassle involved in breakdowns.
I purchased a new 2011 GMC Acadia and three years (38,500 miles) after driving, I was advised by my local dealer that there was a leak in the rack and pinion, and on the steering wheel gear. The cost to repair these was quoted at no less than $1,500. Fortunately, the dealer agreed to perform repairs on goodwill. I was not aware that these were a common issue with Acadias. During the time Ive owned it, I have had to repair electrical wiring on the passenger window as it wouldnt always roll up/down. I have also noticed that when driving on the freeway it slows down/cranks up when shifting gears. I am very disappointed in having to deal with these issues when I still have a note for the vehicle. I contacted GMC directly and posed a few questions which they werent able to answer. 1. What is the guarantee on repairs made? A. No guarantee. 2. What is the average repair cost to own an Acadia? A. They dont have that information. 3. How reliable are Acadias? A. Very reliable vehicle. When I asked if they were aware of low reliability rating on Kelley Blue Book and Edmunds, their response was that they were not aware of that. After my phone call I have decided to sell my Acadia because I deem it unsafe and unreliable and obviously, GMC doesnt stand by its product. Never looking back to GMC.
I bought brand new (expensive) 2015 Acadia Denali 3 yrs ago. I get it Ziebarted with diamond gloss wax as recommended by GMC dealership every year faithfully. This vehicle was my pride and joy sort of speak. I have a defect in the paint on the hood. There is no paint damage or scratches in this area, its started to show as a rust bubble. Of course, paint only covered under warranty if 36,000 miles or 3 yrs, which I dont qualify for. So sorry about my luck. Also I have the same problem as the 2015 Buick Enclave with an inoperative purge solenoid, its causing the same problems but you guessed it, no recall on the Acadias so again, no help from GMC after spending so much money.
Driving comfort cannot be beat. The GMC Acadia Denali has great back support and all features during cold and warm seasons to add more comfort. Visibility is perfect, great gas mileage for a lot of vehicle, I wish I could afford to keep it after a 39 month lease but it is priced very high for the very low mileage recorded.
When we purchased our 2009 Acadia, it was the day they announced their bankruptcy. We bought anyway because we wanted to buy American and be part of the solution. We loved the midsize look and feel and with the captains chairs in the middle, it allowed our third child, not in a carseat, to get to the back row nicely. So this vehicle is very nice for its practicality and spacious feel for all riders given its smaller size.So the bad news. One recall after another after another. I cant complain too much about that, as long as they get it right. What I am angry about is that there is a transmission problem throughout the company. GM mechanics know this. They know the solenoids are crap, but keep putting junk in their vehicles so that we the consumer has to pay an arm and a leg to get a $65 piece replaced because it requires taking the whole engine out. This happened once at 65k miles, and I thought, well, I guess this happens because that is what the mechanic said. But now it is happening again one year later, a different coil this time. I refuse to keep paying for this is. This is a known issue and the company is doing nothing about it.If I have to, I will do something about it. I will go back to buying Mitsubishi and Audi like I have in the past. Never had any solenoid coil problems with those cars. Never had any customer service problems either. As a matter of fact, Audi has stood by their products even out of warranty because they felt bad about a water pump that went bad. Lets see if GM steps up and takes care of those that took care of them in their darkest moment.
Nothing but issues with our 2011 and it just hit 60000 miles. Multiple recalls, alternator, water pump, multiple issues with the front end, air conditioning and heat are all issues that have had to be replaced or fixed. My wife has been left stranded 3 times, twice with the kids, and once was only a couple of days after we dropped it off for our warranty covered inspection/oil change/tire rotation.. Also have multiple friends with the same vehicle and they all have had the same issues and more. Two friends with transmission issues and another with engine failure after the transmission was replaced with just over 100000 miles on it. Ours now is starting to have a burning smell after being driven and takes a second before it knocks and goes into gear. Very disappointed in GM and wont purchase another.
We bought our 2012 GMC Acadia with excitement and high expectations. We were so wrong, and regretted our decision fairly quickly. Within months, we had numerous recalls, the AC stopped working, the USB port stopped working, and a piece of the rubber on the car windows fell off. Luckily, it was under warranty. After 2 years, we had a total of five recalls.Within a couple of months of the warranty expiration, the problems got worse. The AC stopped working AGAIN. Same problem, different year. Our front tires suddenly went bad ($550), confusing since the car didnt have many miles. No explanation from the dealer. Now, year three, AC went out AGAIN ($1100 front and rear), front CV joints cracked ($650) which we were told was probably why our tires went bad so fast, fuel injection issues ($240) causing car to stall every time we got gas, power steering fluid hose leaking ($200), and other issues with a total bill of $2900. Mechanic said it was one of the biggest messes hed ever seen on a car. He said the car was very cheaply put together with plastic parts. I hate this car and completely disappointed that we paid $45000 for a piece of junk.
