I bought a brand new Tucson 2016. After I drove it for less than 800 miles the Check Engine light came on. I took it to the dealer and was told a pin fell inside the engine and broke it. Dealer offered to replace the engine. Because it was a new car I refused. So, after a lengthy fight Hyundai finally agreed to give me another new Tucson. Phew... wait, I am not done yet. 2 weeks later I took delivery of the new Tucson and guess what? 1200 miles later, the car just stalled and would not start as I was driving in the middle of the highway. Now that was scary, in the middle of the highway at night! Luckily there was a state trooper nearby who was able to redirect traffic around my car while I waited for a tow truck. I had the car towed back to the dealer.After looking into it for about 2 weeks, they finally called me to tell me there was another problem with the engine and it could not be repaired. Again, Hyundai has offered to send a replacement engine. This time I refused and am currently fighting them for my money back. Consumer beware of the 2016 Tucson, they are junky.
Salespeople were no-pressure. The Tucson is our 3rd Hyundai and theres lots of value in Hyundai, especially the warranty. Also lots of trouble-free miles at a pretty good price.
I love Hyundai. It has been a wonderful vehicle so far. I am very thankful for it because it has helped our family so much when we had nothing and was told this was a gift. It gave our family of 7 a roomy vehicle and able to get from point a to point b. We dont have to drive 2 or 3 vehicles to haul everyone around. It has automatic doors by button, different heat settings for front and back, lots of seating for as many people as we got and it gives us ease that we will always have it. However, it is very hard to fix some of the issues that it has because parts arent cheap for it. But thankfully a friend of mine has came to the rescue once on fixing an issue Ive had with the van. Its also hard on gas which is frustrating and sometimes parking is an issue. You cant park in a tight spot because of how big the vehicle is.
On 1/5/2012, I was in an accident in my 2003 Hyundai Elantra. A car ran the stop sign and pulled out in front of me and I slammed on my brakes but could not stop in time so I t-boned them going about 40mph dead center. The airbags did not deploy. I had severe whiplash and now have constant back pain. I am so mad that the airbags did not deploy. I contacted Hyundai about this and they wanted all this information from me: service records and everything but the kitchen sink. Yes, I had the maintenance done on my vehicle either by my husband or a mechanic, and no, my airbags were never removed. Maybe Hyundai forgot to put the airbags in the vehicles that have so many issues of them not deploying.
The paint on the hood and roof bubbles and peels after 4 years. Hyundai is aware of the problem, there was a class action filed against them. They refuse to cover this repair under warranty. This is clearly a defect, not normal wear and tear. My dealer refused to help, told me to go elsewhere. I would not recommend this car to anyone.
I have a 2012 Genesis with 42,000 miles on it and it blew an engine. A piston rod broke in half. Hyundai refuses to cover it under the warranty because they claim it was out of oil. I just had it serviced, but not by Hyundai, and there was oil in it. In fact when the rod broke the engine spilled oil all over the road and the tow truck. Even the dealer confirms that. But no the supreme judge at America Hyundai says no oil, no pay. The warranty isnt worth the paper its written on!!! Never, ever buy a Hyundai! The experience is bitter beyond description.
I bought a 2012 Hyundai Elantra from Tuttle Click Dodge in Tustin. There they had a sticker posted with 39 hwy mph. My car gets no more than 24 mph on the freeway going 65 steady in the right lane with Chevron gas. I have taken it to 5 different Hyundai dealers complaining about the issue almost right away. They all shrugged their shoulders and told me they couldnt find a problem. That the digital eco meter is a dummy gauge and doesnt give accurate numbers. Then why do they match my manual calculations? Finally after I showed them the website where I found out about the class action lawsuit did they admit... oh ya your car does have a mileage problem. Oh ya... we already lost the lawsuit. We will waste a ton of your time, and then say sorry you are not original owner and therefore not eligible for gas reimbursement! Today I took my horrible Hyundai to the dealer and they gave it back to me with a huge scratch on the door. Also, my newish Hyundai with only 20,000 miles makes a ton of noises and the check engine light came on.
Problem with 2008 Sante Fe - The fuel gauge in my vehicle has stopped registering the gasoline. I fill up vehicle and turn on engine and it registers zero fuel. Sometimes it might register 1/4 of a tank for a few minutes, then goes back to zero. The check engine light started coming on at the same time. The car was taken to Advance Auto and their register gave a number (which escapes me right now) but when we looked it up it said the fuel sensor was bad. From reading numerous complaints about the same problem, it seems the repair for this can cost anything from $300 - $700. This seems to me grossly unfair as it is obviously a defect in the equipment and should be repaired at the companys cost. Thanks for listening.
2013 Veloster, still under bumper to bumper warranty. The windshield had distortion, it was warranty replaced. Only to have another distorted windshield installed. Now they say all like that and will not replace it with one that is clear for viewing. ALSO the exhaust tailpipe is caked with dark greasy soot and needs constant cleaning. Clear evidence of a non-functional emissions system. I asked if it failed an EPA emissions test would they fix it... Hyundai dealer in Rockford Ill said NO not unless it shows a check engine light. Well turns out Hyundai was sued by the EPA around 2012 for not meeting emission standards. Looks like another lawsuit is needed. Hyundai Warranty and support is a joke.
I purchased my new Sonata Hybrid in April 2015. I want to complain about the front shroud or fairing. The clearance of the fairing to regular parking block is 0 inches. These are standard parking blocks, that a car has to pull up to in any parking space. My front fairing has now been severely damaged and is hanging off the car because the clearance does not match the standard height for a parking block. I want to know why I have this expensive repair because of poor design of the front end. If I repair the damage, the next block will, of course, rip the new one off too!!! Parking away from the block creates a safety hazard to me and other cars and drivers in a parking lot because of improper parking space allocations.Safe parking is part of safe operation of my vehicle, and I can be fined because of improper parking in a designated space. The tires are the original factory ones, so the profile should be Hyundais responsibility of design. I want to know what you (Hyundai) suggests to do to fix this design problem for now and the future of my expensive hybrid car???
In August 2015, I purchased a 2015 Hyundai Tucson in 2015. I have had all routine maintenance done and the car has 86,000 miles on it. No mechanic has ever told me of any engine issues or potential engine issues. Two weeks ago, I was driving home at 10:00 PM. Without warning, my engine seized and my car stalled in the middle of a very busy, dangerous intersection. Thanks to the assistance of my father and a good Samaritan, I was able to get my car out of the road and I was able to get safely home. However, this had the potential to be extremely dangerous for myself and other drivers on the road.I took my car to a local Hyundai dealership and I was told by a certified Hyundai mechanic that I would need a new engine. I immediately contacted the Hyundai Customer Care Center and I was told that because I am not the original owner, they will not honor the 10-year/100,000 mile warranty. I was told they might honor the limited warranty, but I would need to come up with records of every oil change I have had on the car. Other than that, they have been of no assistance to me. I am beyond frustrated and furious at this point. This is not an issue of user error, this is clearly a defect on the part of the manufacturer and they should be the ones resolve the problem. I consider myself an informed consumer, and I would not have purchased this car if I had known this was a possibility.
I have a 2007 Hyundai Elantra and my air bag light has been on for about a year. I had it fixed a year ago and it came back on about three weeks later. I went to the dealer for the recall. They completed the recalls on the connector cover and ACU programming and the light is still on! The dealer recommended I replace the front passenger seatbelt buckle, which I did and the light is still on! I suggest everyone on this site take five minutes and report your issues to the government at www.nhtsa.gov or call 1-888-327-4236. This is the only way we will get a recall to have this problem fixed. Obviously, the recalls out there arent fixing the problem so please call and file a complaint.
I bought an Elantra car for Hyundai Des Moines dealer, actually I bought a lemon. I bought this car because its fuel efficiency as they advertise it is 28-38 mile, but in the first day I found that its mpg is 24 and it stated drop by time and after one week it become 17.5. That is unbelievable. It is like a big SUV. I contact the company and they requested to put it in service. This is not acceptable. A new car go to service in the first two weeks. The government must protect the customer from the liar car companies and we must be able to return the car if it is not as they said. Another serious issue was its tire - it has no traction on snow. I get stuck on snow 4 times. I need to change the tires and this is unacceptable too. Could anyone guide me how to return this car?
I have had nothing but issues since I bought this car. I bought a 2015 Elantra Sport, with 800 miles on it in October of 2015. Seemed like a great car. I got a good deal (I paid 18,000), its a top trim level so hopefully the quality would be good. First thing that happened, the dealership insisted I change the oil every 3,000 miles. The service manual clearly states 7,500 mile intervals. They scolded me and told me to bring it in more often. Okay fine, whatever.Second, the dealership did a recall repair (I never approved, they just did it) to my sunroof, which resulted in a damaged headliner, AND they dropped a screw in my defroster vent that I could hear roll around as I would make corners. I took it back and Hyundai approved replacing the headliner. They also took the dash apart to retrieve the screw. The work order said removed debris, the tech didnt remember what he took out. It also still rattled and then produced a different rattle above 75 MPH. (So much more higher quality coming from the top end trim level). I should note they had the car for several days, no loaner car was given.Next, I noticed my steering column was loose after they disassembled my dash. I could move it side to side. Also the clutch squeaked when you released it. And the dash still rattled. So I took it back in. several days later and no rental car, the steering column was within spec, they couldnt replicate the clutch squeak, and they werent allowed to fix rattles and squeaks past 5,000 miles or something like that (came from the service manager). Next issue, the AC goes out. Its Texas. Its July. Its hot. Can i get a loaner car? No. They werent sure if it could be fixed under warranty (30,000 miles now). How is this not under warranty?! They had the car for several days. Turned out the AC compressor failed internally so it was replaced under warranty. No loaner car.Now, most recently. The car has 59,700 miles. The engine starts to make a noise that sounds like a high speed rattle. My guess was the water pump impeller rubbing. So I took it into a different dealership. This time they cant diagnose it, but its easy to replicate so there is no doubt theres a problem. 5 days goes by and they finally set me up with a rental car through Enterprise. One month goes by and they tell me they are going to replace the engine. That opened up a whole new set of issues. Apparently, the engine in my two year old car is now obsolete. Instead of buying a long block crate engine (like they originally told me) they are buying a short block and sending the engine off to an outside repair shop to build it.I went to the dealership to look at the engine (I do a lot of car repair, and Im a Mechanical Engineer). The timing chain is hanging slack and theyve removed one of the camshaft retainers. The car is parked outside, with no valve cover. Lovely. They tell me the engine is being replaced due to lack of lubrication (very vague and general). My guess was broken timing chain tensioner. I saw no low pressure light, and there was no presence of metal in the oil during the last oil change (I had a sample sent to a lab for analysis). They told me that its a good thing I brought it in when I did. Because my Powertrain Warranty Expires at 60,000 miles! Apparently, because I bought it used the 100,000 mile warranty doesnt apply to me.Well that was it. Im getting rid of the car. I asked them to give me a price on what theyd buy it from me for. They responded with because its having major engine work, we can only give you $6,000. So basically. A $24,000 car, in two years, and 60,000 miles, becomes worth 25% of its original value. I am never buying another Hyundai.
My daughter was in an accident in October 2015 with the Hyundai Elantra. The airbags did not deploy, the whole front end was crushed in, and car was totaled. I made a claim with Hyundai in October 2015, sent all documents they required, was told I would hear something week after thanksgiving and heard nothing. I feel like they are avoiding me and the problem with their car. All three sensors were hit in the accident.
I am late in updating this review.The Hyundai dealer found issue with rear coupler on inspection. I had to take the SUV back to the dealer a week later as they had to order the parts.The Correction comment states - Replaced 4WD Coupling Assy - listed at $549.50. It was all covered under warranty so I did not have to pay for anything.
I just had my Hyundai 2012 Sonata serviced for a gas leak. They told me it was a packing fuel pump and cap assembly fuel filler. All Goethe’s they charge me 383.12 dollars for only changing the fuel cap which was the real issue and they milked it by keeping me waiting for more than two hours. I realized they did not change the packing fuel pump because they never asked me for the special key to remove one of the lug nuts to my tire where the gas cap is located. They ripped me off, and I realized this when I got home and said “How come they didn’t ask for the key to remove the special lug nut?” How can I get my money back on this issue? I am really pissed off because of how they are getting away with this.
I have been a Hyundai customer for many years. Fortunately, I have only had to call for roadside assistance a couple of times. They were courteous and prompt. Even when I had some personal technical difficulties, they were patient and understanding. They did follow up calls to make sure that the service was satisfactory and complete. Very organized and very professional.
2010 Hyundai Genesis sedan has a problem with the automatic drivers seat. The seat fails to return to preset position when the car is started. Similarly, it cannot be manually adjusted when this condition occurs. This is a sporadic and unpredictable problem which the dealer has not been able to identify after four visits and approximately 10 days at the dealership. Customer service has assigned a case number to this issue but never returns calls or suggests a solution or suggestion to the problem. My only recourse at this point is to engage an attorney and file some sort of civil action. I am very frustrated.
My experience with Hyundai is the worst experience with a car company I’ve ever had and I’ve been leasing different cars for 25 years. I drove my 2021 Kona (top of the line) for 3032 miles before the entire transmission failed. I guess any car company can have a lemon in the batch so the fact that this car sucked isn’t what’s horrible about this story. It’s how Hyundai & Hyundai finance is treating me during the process of trying to return the car and get compensation back that’s hideous. They threatened my credit for a car I hadn’t had in months and made me continue to pay for it for months. They made me collect & turn in all the paperwork needed to get my case settled myself instead of helping and accessing their own records (copy of lease, payment records, etc.). Their entire computer/ website interface for customers fails every month and you have to call to get your profile erased so you can build another one… Only it remembers the email you used so every month you have to come up with a new email & hope this month their system for payment & account details doesn’t fail. They are offering me almost NOTHING back ($2300) even though I paid 1500 down & payments from September 2020-March 2021 at $367/month. They don’t even understand their own processes and told me that a significant amount of the money I am owed back for the car needed to be applied for at the dealership due to “separate contracts for alarm system, clear shield, & other aspects of the car’s system... But the dealership says that’s completely wrong. Oh ya, and every 30 days the paperwork I turned in expires & takes hours of effort on my part to resubmit. Do yourself a favor and RUN from Hyundai!
I slid off the road and called roadside assistance. I had been pulled out about a month ago, also. This time they said they would not pay for being pulled out. We have had a severe winter and have had a lot of ice and snow. On the Hyundai advertising it says, 5 years unlimited roadside assistance, with 24/7, 365 day service. The roadside assistance representative said they recently changed their rules. (Almost a year after I purchased my 2013 Sonata) I talked to representative **. She never told me what rule they changed. I told her they couldnt change the rules retroactively. She said they could and did so. She referred me to the towing service subcontractors. (Cross Country Motor Club) The motor club informed me that the car had to be less than 10 feet from the road, to be pulled back onto the road. I asked him who made that new rule and they could not tell me that. I told them that if a car slid into the ditch, it would be 10 feet from the highway 90% of the time, and that would make roadside assistance unusable 90% of the time. I threatened to go public to the internet and also press a possible lawsuit. My car is well within the 10-foot rule. They still refused. I’m handicapped and a senior citizen. The roadside assistance was a major reason why I purchased the car. Now, Hyundai is going back on their word. I started to call my dealer and before I could talk to him, a towing company called and said they would be at my place within 2 hours. I called the towing company and asked if Hyundai was paying for it and they said yes. Hyundai previously said they would call to get me help, but I would be charged $170.00. I dont think that any customer should put up with a company that treats its customer in the above manner.
My 2013 Tucson had to be towed to the dealer. It took several weeks to get the parts in to fix it but they paid for my rental for the whole time. I had to take it back because it had a noise in it. They went through the complete engine and found nothing wrong. They called in their specialist and were able to solve the problem. They gave me a new Santa Fe to drive and I really liked it. But I love my Tucson and will be keeping it but will be buying a new car in the near future. Their warranty is everything it says it is. Jason kept me informed as the worked a lot of hours to take care of the problem. He is the kind of service manager you want to take care of problems if you have them. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a nice car for a good price and excellent service.
I just purchased a 2012 Accent. I drive 40 miles to work on the interstate every day. Once I reach 70 mph, my car starts to swerve to the point I almost run into the other lanes. When I try to correct the car, it gets worse. One time, I almost ran a car off the road. Terrified to drive, I took the car into the dealership and was told its my electric power steering. I was told theres nothing they could do to help me. They told me I need to get use to the sensitive steering. Seriously! I was told by the dealership the sensitive steering does not change even at high speeds. If I turn my steering wheel a little bit, my car will go in that direction very fast. This is very dangerous. Hyundai needs to fix this problem before someone gets hurt.
Called the la quinta car dealer to have my car serviced, and the service rep. said did not have any record of any service there. I have a invoice showing that I did, 12/21/12. r/o no. ** . After our conversation, she said that I would call at a later date to get a time for the service, and had to come in so she could get the info. The next few days I was leaving for Conroe, TX since I have been here for two weeks. I called, Wiesner auto group, I also had the car serviced at Wiesner auto, in Conroe TX. and went on a recorder and left a message, that I wanted to get a appointment to have the car serviced. I have still waiting for a call back, I purchased this car, from a very good friend that owns the dealership in Temecula CA. thinking that this was a good buy. I am now having second thoughts, about service? Also owning a Hyundai?
2014 Hyundai Tucson - We purchased this vehicle November 2017. Less than 8 months later, on July 8th, 2018, our vehicles engine caught on fire while driving on the interstate. There was NO warning sign prior to this. maintenance was kept up with as scheduled. Hyundai Tuscons are DANGEROUS. Please do not purchase a Hyundai vehicle. They are not recalling vehicles as they should be, and someone is going to end up dying over their engine problems.
I leased a Genesis. I made all the payments on time. I turned it into Lexus when I lease a Lexus. They claim there was excessive wear and tear because a lens had a crack. They state I owe them $608 for a crack they did not even measure with the ruler. I will never have a Hyundai or Genesis again. They do not bother responding to BBB. They just send a standard email.
I am trying to begin the process of making a lemon law claim on our Santa Fe. I am wondering if anybody else has had problems with the back liftgate automatically closing. We have had it repaired 3 times already, and now after taking it in 6 months ago they have still not been able to get it fixed for what would be the 4th time. I have been hit in the head numerous times, and the other day my son was trapped by the liftgate. Luckily I was there to get it off of him, because it will not stop coming down unless you pull very hard against it and he is 8 and was face down.The dealership is useless, they have been ordering the parts for 6 months. We have called repeatedly and get the same answer. Unfortunately there is not another dealer close enough for us to go to, and they also have told us we have to get it repaired at their dealership. This is a joke, and I was wondering if others have had the same issue. Just trying to get all the evidence I can to try and force a resolution. We basically do not use the back of our car anymore. Hyundai is awful.
I am having problems with my Hyundai Tuscon windows. My drivers side and passenger side windows have a short in the panel and many times will not work. I took them into a 2 dealers in San Diego and they could not repair. I spoke to Scott at Hyundai motors and he is helping me with my window issue. Thank you Scott! I will update after next repair. I bought a 2020 Tuscan Ultimate on Saturday 5/23/2020 from Crain Hyundai Fayetteville and the salesman could not find the navigation SD card and said come back Tuesday and we will have have it for you. I came back on Tuesday and they had one but it didnt fit. He said, I will have to order you one and when you bring your car in for the window tint I will have one. Well took it in last Friday and no SD card. Asked about it and was told they would try and find one if they can. At that point am up set and contact Hyundai directly for one. They give me the navigation company number to call and I did. They were willing to sell me another one. I said no thank you. I want the one I already bought. I called Hyundai consumer affairs back and talked to a case manager named Vanilla and she stated she called the sales manager and he would take care of it and that was all Hyundai was willing to do. 3 week after I bought my Car still no navigation or Blue link due to navigation not working. I filed a Better business bureau claim and got a call from the customer relations manager from the dealership. Found out the SD cad was never ordered and that he personally would make sure it was done. Bottom line Hyundai didnt care and to me it will be the last one I buy. My daughter purchased a certified pre owned 2013 Sonata limited turbo. She took it to have regular maintenance, so she took good care of the car. On February 2017 she was driving down the road when she heard a noise from under the hood, so her friend told her to pull over so he could check it out, when he lifted up the hood there was a red glow. He immediately told her to get out of the car. Within an minute her car was engulfed in flames. The car burnt so bad, all that was left was the trunk of the car. Had he not told her to pull over my daughter and her friend would have died in that car.She notified Hyundai about this. For one because it was still under warranty and two her car burnt to the ground for no reason out of nowhere. They took about 2 months to get back to her and when they did they only offered her what they call fair market value, which was way lower than what she paid for the car. With what they offered she couldnt even touch the kind of car she had and is still making payments on. They were rude and the one guy hung up on me when I got upset with his attitude. We have called repeatedly trying to talk to someone in charge but to no avail. We have heard from a friend of hers that someone on Facebook has had their car go up in flames also. Hyundai does not stand by their product and they also have the worse customer relations that I have ever experienced. Never ever would I recommend buying a Hyundai car.
My husband was in a serious automobile accident and passed away because of the injuries in October. He leased a Genesis and the lease was up in October. When I turned in the car I ended up owing over 2500 because of mileage overage fees. I had wrote the CEO of Hyundai and the President of Hyundai finance to waive the fees. We incurred the overage charges because we had to go see my critically injured husband in the hospital and drove over 100 miles each day. They would not waive the fees and submitted the fees to collection which lowered my credit score. I have incurred medical expenses due to my husband death and had to sell my home. I am unable to get an apartment thanks to Hyundai. My credit score was lowered and I did not qualify. I did pay this bill in full and I still had my credit score lowered. I will never buy another Hyundai again. My husband and I did love our cars but I was just blown away with how heartless these people are. We have leased two cars from Hyundai and I bought my car. They clearly got quite a bit of money from us already but they did not have the heart to help out a widow who had medical bills and is just trying to survive. In fact I am trying to figure out where I am going to live right now. I had a friend who also lost her husband and the car dealer waived the overage fees. It was not Hyundai. I wish I bought my car from another dealership. Heartless, Heartless, Heartless and Greedy.
Over 30 days my 2014 model i30 with 25.000 km EPS unit couldnt be replaced and its still in the service. I basically cant drive a car which I paid to. Moreover I wouldnt like to discuss about the security issue of this part as I was driving, the wheel went off, wouldnt even turn. Thank god that I was driving in an easy road with a low speed so I had chance to park my car within a safe zone. I even wouldnt like to imagine what would happen if this problem would occur on the highway. Hyundai Turkey is behaving premature to handle the case. In this century I am not able to understand why the required part can not be delivered within 30 days while there are people touring around the world with bicycles or on foot less than 30 days. As a result of all, I dont have any other chances but to go to legal court to claim my rights and never ever touch anything called Hyundai.
2013 Tucson GLS 2.4L • Automatic transmission *Hyundai believes 108,000 miles is normal for a motor to seize. That is what Reggie a representative at Hyundai told me. 3/14/2019. In February of 2018 I purchased my 2013 Tucson. My sister was on the highway, driving highway speed, when suddenly the vehicle just lost power completely. She was able to roll to the shoulder safely, but only because it was a light traffic time of the day. Any other time, it wouldve been trouble. She called me right away. I told her not to start it till we got there, when we got there (Tow Truck already en route) there was absolutely no life whatsoever in the engine. The electronics were barely working, but the engine was not responsive.I had the vehicle towed to a shop, to which they told me the following day that the engine was seized, they explained that the oil pump had stopped working. They even took pictures and sent them to me of the piston and the lower motor blown out. How could this be since it only has 108,000 Miles, and I kept up with the scheduled oil and filter changes! Hyundai says this is not unusual!The warranty is only honored if youre the original owner, and I was not. I would never buy or deal with a Hyundai ever again as long as Im alive, and this inconvenience has cost me time, travel inconveniences, stress, and of course...money, not only do I STILL OWE OVER $8,000.00 ON IT, I can not get to work till its fixed. The Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sportage, and Kia Sorento have been reported as having these same issues, but the Tucson absolutely needs to be included, because theyre using the same engine (components) in this model year.
I have experienced one of the lowest quality customer care and service from the customer service department of Hyundai USA. I have cases open with them for the past 4 months. I am following up with the customer service department every week, and I have received a very poor unresponsive service from this department. Do not recommend this car manufacturer if you care about (and expect to receive) quality customer care and service.
I made an initial request for a warranty on the defective drivers side seat of my 2010 Hyundai Sonata with 15,000 miles on its odometer. The seat which collapsed in on itself has allowed metal beneath seat cushion to protrude upward causing uncomfortable and unsafe driving condition for driver. Hyundai has refused to replace the defective seat after three attempts on my behalf and has denied my third request, stating it is considered normal wear and tear. How could this be when the vehicle is only 2 years old ? I am requesting now from you, a fourth time, to replace the defective seat before I take further action. I hope you will stand by your product and warranty of which I am otherwise very happy with and reconsider my request to warranty the defective seat. Thank you for your help.
I own a 2012 Hyundai Accent. It never has attained 40 MPG as advertised and stated on my car window sticker when purchased. A Class Action lawsuit was filed and reported settled in Feb 2013 and I am awaiting results. My experience with Hyundai has been the worst experience of any car company, and I am 61 years old. They are rude and arrogant. I will never own another Hyundai or Kia product... Ever!
This car has been a lemon from the day I bought it. It is dangerous. It began when I first started using the cruise control. It does not shut off correctly somehow. It will start accelerating when I am trying to stop the car or slow down! The tac will go all the way to six! I have to fight the acceleration using the brake. Shortly after purchase, when started in neutral, it lurched forward without cause, and ran into a parking barrier, denting the front. When I took it to the dealership while still under warranty, they said they could not replicate the situation, and did nothing. I argued with them and they agreed that if this situation gets fixed, it should be under warranty. I insisted they put it in writing. So I have been driving this way for quite a while, but that isnt the worst part of this. Yesterday, Sept. 30, 2013, I was driving the car when it started belching yellowish smoke. I parked it and investigated. No gauges came on. No fluid anywhere. Not overheating. I turned it off and had it towed to the dealership. It still has the drive-train warranty. Today, they told me it needs a new engine. They said the oil was really dirty and unless I can prove proper maintenance, the warranty is null. They did no further investigation after looking at the oil and that the exhaust is burnt out, too, and needs replaced. The cost would be from $8000 to $12,000. I still owe $14,000 on the car! The oil had been changed about 10,000 miles ago, which is too long, but not a reason for the motor to crater! No gauge lights up, only symptom is smoking exhaust. It was running fine when I parked it except for the smoke. This doesnt make sense to me.I will not go into detail about the other small things that have broken or quit working, like the lights, under-carriage being flimsy, moon-roof sticking, the no brake lights recall, etc... I have made a claim to the company and they are working on it. If they dont resolve this, I will report it on every social media site I can find, not to mention the hundreds of coworkers and students I have that will hear about it. Dont buy Hyundai.
I agree with the gentlemans statement on 10-19-2011. I also have a 2008 Sonata and the sun visors after about 2 years started to fall about half way down. It’s very annoying especially while you are driving. First, it was the passenger’s visor and then a few months later the driver’s visor. At first I thought that the kids were just admiring themselves but then my side started to do the same thing. Thats when I knew it was an equipment problem. Hyundai fixed both visors because they were still under warranty. Now Im having issues with the ESC light coming on and thats why Im doing research tonight. Thanks.
I purchased a new Hyundai Elantra 1 year ago, drove just over 20,000 highway miles; and already the tires need to be replaced! When I bought the car, all the salesman (Murdock Hyundai in Murray, Utah) could do was say how dependable and reliable everything on the Elantra is now. He was right, except for the tires!
The headliner was damaged during a replacement of the sunglass holder recall. It has never been correct since. At approx. 54k, the engine failed and Hyundai replaced with an inferior short block vs. a long block engine, the rear seal was defective and had to be replaced, the engine protector plate fell off less than two weeks later. I have never felt safe in this car and sure enough 3 days ago, after going over NO huge bumps or hitting any pot holes, I came outside and the first 1.5 inches of the wheel bearing assembly was laying on the ground by the wheel. The tow truck driver said they overtorqued something when they replaced the engine. Not only will I never purchase another Hyundai, but I will recommend no one does either. After owning a Honda Civic for 14 years and 375k, this vehicle is a driving time bomb waiting to kill you!!
I bought my 2011 Sonta in September 2011. From the very beginning I should have known something was not right. The car was fine but the people, sales people and financial staff leave something to be desired. My original quote was what I agreed upon but when they processed the paper work it appeared to have escalated in monthly payments amount of $80. I have been to the Fairfax Hyundai several times since then and have never walked away feeling as if I were taken care of or received what Hyundai says it would do with customer service.The last time I went in, the service person said that he would take care of me and ended up charging me for what should have been routine service and, they did a software upgrade recall that no one told me about. They charged me $400 and then, when I questioned the charges and showed them the work, they did they said they made a mistake but would not be able to refund the money and would give me a service credit. After a few calls to them and my credit card company, they refunded the amount to my account but did absolutely nothing to compensate me for the eventual charges I racked up due to their connivance.I now check regularly to see what the latest malady with this car just to make sure I am driving a somewhat safe vehicle. To be fair, the car has been great. It worked fine until I had to take it in to Fairfax Hyundai.The last incident my car just died on the road, really bad area for traffic. I had to call the police to run their lights to keep me from getting hit. Shout of to the City of Falls Church, VA and their police department. They were great. I have roadside assistance and they sent someone from Blairs towing (Alex) and he was great too. There was only a 20-30 minute waiting period. He towed my car to the dealership.Now, my wife had been talking to the service floor manager and he informed her that when I arrived I would get a loaner car. That never happened. She had to come pick me up from the shop. I am waiting to hear from them still now. They said they would call at 8 this morning. What can I do? I have no idea what to or how to take some sort of action that would make a significant impact on the way they service cars or people.
My sister bought two cars. One for her and one for her son. The second day he was stranded on the highway because the engine seized. They went back to the dealer and wanted to return the car and get a new one since this was a major issue for brand new car. They would not do that but also could not fix it so he was without a car for two months until they filed for the lemon law. The dealer was rude to them like this was their fault. They called Hyundai and they would not do anything either. All they wanted was what they bought two cars not one. A work associate of my husbands who also bought a Hyundai from the same dealer had similar issues but it took a year for the engine to finally seize. He had taken the car to the dealer several times about the engine but they never fixed it or admitted there was a problem. There was a recall for 2011-2012 Hyundai’s for engine issues and seems like they have the same issue with 2018 models.
Very happy with my 10 year old car. Bought this Sonata brand new. 10 years later I still drive it. I have 156,000 miles on it. I change oil according to book, have replaced battery once. Bought new tires twice. Have not had any major problems. Drive great. I bought it because it had a great warranty. The only complaint I have is with Hyundai service department. They are not very good. Once I learned I could take it any mechanics as long as they use Hyundai parts. Thats the way to go.
No matter how hard I try, I can not get anywhere near 21mpg let alone 29mpg in the city. One of the major reasons I bought this car was the gas mileage. The only thing I can do is tell people dont buy this car if you are looking for good gas mileage. How does Hyundai get away with lying to the people?
Last night on 1-20-12 at 2330, I crashed on ice. The front end slammed into a metal pole that holds up the street lights. The impact was dead center of the front of car, which is where the front driver airbag sensor is. My airbag did not deploy. I own a 2010 Hyundai Accent.
Not happy with AC drainage system or Checks before delivery, AC drainage continue after engine stops - I did checks for more than 2 weeks from office to home and home to office. The drain continue even after 4 hours or 7 hours of engine stops in form of droplets.
Hyundai Sonata 2006 has Faulty Airbag sensors in it. My car has 95000 miles on it, but however many people after driving 75000 miles have similar problem. Within 3 months I have issue twice with that. The service engineer told that this a problem with Seat belt sensor. So first time it was on the passenger side and after a month it was my driver side. Every time I was charged $350. Please be aware of this if you are using Hyundai, if so please be prepared for it.
I leased my 2015 Sonata Sport in Feb of 2016. It had been a service loaner and had almost 5000 miles on it at delivery. After about six months in Aug of 2016 my car would not start and I had to call Hyundai Roadside to jump it. I brought it into the dealer the following week. They tested the battery, said nothing was wrong, and suggested I did something to cause the battery drain. Well, I continued to have the problem and brought the car back to the dealer in Nov of 2016. This time they said the battery was bad and replaced it. Even after replacing the battery, I continued to have the problem and brought the car back to the dealer in Jan of 2017. This time they blamed the problem on the Allstate insurance device I have plugged into the car and they said the battery was bad too. So they replaced the battery for the second time and I had the Allstate device replaced.I continued to have the same problems. I brought the car back to the dealer the following month and they said they could not replicate the issue and found nothing. It seems that my vehicle battery dies when I dont use the vehicle for a period of time – often 1.5 - 2 days, but it has died from sitting unused in as little as 22 hours. Since I continue to have this issue without any real help from the dealer, I contacted Hyundai consumer affairs in April of 2017 and they have been slow to take any action. I did not receive any actionable info from them until 2 weeks after I first called... They called the dealer I had been working with and the dealer told them they thought the issue was the insurance device (even though they found no problems the last time I had the vehicle there, with the device plugged in).So my Hyundai case manager told me they could not do anything until the insurance device was ruled out as a cause. I removed the device and purposefully did not drive the vehicle for a full day and surprise, the car was dead. So I called my case manager at Hyundai and told her what happened and that the device could be ruled out. Now she is checking to see if or when (her words) a Hyundai specialist can look at the car. Hopefully, it wont take another two weeks to find that out. It seems Im not the only person with this issue as a couple other reviews very recently indicate the same problem on the same year/make/model and with even the same time frame the problem began! I guess its time for me to find a lawyer too.
My wife hit a concrete light pole base. The body damage was about 2500 dollars but the air bag light came on and white powder was in the car which meant the airbag went off but did not deploy the bag. The insurance company said, You need an airbag and any parts needed to repair it right even though it did not deploy to help stop my wife from moving forward. The car is a 2004 Sonata GLS with 66,000 miles on it as of July 5, 2014 the day of the accident. Hyundai said it is out of warranty but I said this is a device that will only work during an accident. They basically said too bad. The cost was over $3000.00 to replace the bag, seat belt and all the bells and whistles that make the bag NOT DEPLOY. The car is a total loss because of the air bag cost and why would I want to install a new bag that may or may not deploy. Hyundai recalled other year air bags like 2003 and 2006 but my 2004 is not included yet I have read many complaints of non--deploying. Do not trust air bags as a safety item and it doesnt matter what car. Use the seat belt and pray, lol. My car is a total loss but a friend wants to buy it as it has 66,000 miles on it and I am anal when it comes to doing everything the dealer wants you to do and when to do it. I will not buy another Hyundai but I do wish it would have made the recall list so if you have this problem report it to NTSD (NATIONAL TRANS SAFETY PLACE NOT SURE OF THE ACRONYM). Thats all folks. Trust no one.
The airbag light was on in my 2009 Hyundai Tucson. When I took it to the dealership for diagnosis, it was found that a wire in a small assembly behind the passenger seat, that is attached to the seat belt, was broken. The dealer said they could not fix the wire because its a liability since it has to do with the SRS airbag system. There is no replacement part, so the whole assembly where the wire goes under the car, needs to be replaced and it costs thousands of dollars. The dealer contacted Hyundai and advised them that I want Hyundai to pay for this expense because it is not under warranty (60,000) and my car has 67,572 miles only. However, they responded back that Hyundai will not pay. This is a safety issue and I do not have the money to repair what I know is a defective part. I am extremely upset that they would not consider this an exception to the warranty rules, because it was never tampered with, only checked by the mechanic at the dealership and that is the only place I get it serviced. This is not normal wear and tear or a moving part and should last the life of the vehicle. And this is a serious issue.
This is not exactly what happened, but more like a what is about the Hyundai Elantra. I have just found this website when I decided to do some searching for Hyundai information, especially the Hyundai Elantras so-called automatic transmission. You see, in July 2010, I was desperately in need of some good transportation for myself and my family, and I decided to take a look at Hyundai. I am embarrassed to say that I bought two Elantras at the same time. Im even more embarrassed to admit that I traded a really nice Impala for them. OK, time to cut through the chase about the Elantra automatic. I have a very strong belief that Hyundai is under geared or lacks adequate gearing for the motors power band. Admittedly, Im no expert and unable to spew out technical jargon on the subject. But shortly after becoming an owner of my two Hyundais, I noticed that there was something very substandard about how these things shifted and accelerated. Ive begun reading other peoples reviews and I believe some of them are describing the very same condition, but maybe a little less technically aware of the actual problem. Its true that the vehicle will upshift during acceleration, putting the motor into a lugging state, if that is possible for a gasoline motor as it is for a diesel motor. Just to reiterate, Im not an expert on the subject but actually would love to hear someones expert opinion on the matter. Anyhow, these people are right such as Della of Omaha, NE - i.e. during normal acceleration. The vehicle shifts, then has very little power and begins to chug and vibrate so you have to punch the accelerator to go back down into the gear you just upshifted from. The condition is somewhat circumvented the more rapidly you accelerate, but soon you may find the RPMs back in that inadequate power range. I dont think this poses a problem for salespeople during a test drive because they know most people are going to punch the accelerator to see how it accelerates, meanwhile not noticing this annoying flaw. Now there is something in the drivers manual about manually downshifting for some situations and I think this can help some, but I think there is a tendency to forget to shift back into high gear. So to me, that makes it questionable about whether or not the vehicle is really automatic shifting, even though it is technically an automatic transmission. Ive heard people saying they went to the dealer experiencing this condition. Im not surprised theyre not acknowledging a problem with the vehicle. After all, they knew about it when they sold it to you. Without quoting right from the warranty, Im pretty sure it says something about vehicle performance that is characteristic to all the vehicles deems it to be normal. I would guess its a car companys right to sell you a crappy car, and the dealers too. It just proves people will do anything for a buck, even to whip out their Motor Trend magazine where it was their car of the year. So how did that happen, are they a creditable magazine? I just think they knew they were building a crappy car and they got people going around saying its great.
In March, we had an engine issue with our 2015 Sonata that has less than 8000 miles... It started with the clicking sounds that we hear whenever we hit the accelerator. We brought it to a local dealer. They took 2 weeks to fix the issue. When I asked about if it was all fixed and all was good to go, the dealer said yes and that we shouldnt have any future issues with it. Within 4 days from picking up the fixed car, we start hearing the clicking sound again. We brought it back to the same local dealer to be fixed. Within 3 days of dropping off the car, we received a phone call from the regional manufacturer representative to ask about our vehicle and if the car was repaired. I let her know that we actually had to bring back the vehicle for the same issue just days before she called. She gave me her number and said that she would get back to me within 24 hours with an answer to whats going to happen next. I dont hear from her... Feeling frustrated, I call her to find out whats going on. Since she told me to get in touch with her rather than the dealer, I trusted her and only called her to find out whats going on. I never hear from her... In the meantime, my husband calls their Korean Customer service number to make the complains and only told to speak with the representative who is not returning our calls. She is the one who can make anything happen. WHAT??? We even tried to call different customer service numbers but we are told that she is the one we need to speak to and no one else. Finally after dropping the car off 3 weeks prior, we receive a call from the dealer that the engineer from manufacturer came out to inspect our car and that the entire engine needed to be taken apart to see what is wrong with it. It took 2 days for this engineer to inspect it but no real answers to what is the actual issue. I finally took time off from work to go to the dealer to inspect the car and everything under the hood is taken apart and they said that it will take days to put everything back and repair the issues. While at the dealer, we manage to speak with the Service Manager who said that the manufacturer went cheap way out the first time we brought the car out and they are very interested in our car because for a new car, it is having some engine issue that they cant pinpoint too. He also said that the representative advised him that she has been in contact with us so he doesnt need to call us.Feeling disappointed and frustrated with whats happening with our new car. We tried to get in touch with the regional representative. To this day, we havent been able to speak with her and the car is fixed but the engine makes a lot of noise for a new car especially compared to my dads car that has over 200,000 miles on it and we are just disappointed with our whole experience with this dealer and the manufacturer. We cant wait to return this car when its lease expires in 2 years. Never will I ever buy another Hyundai vehicle. There are reasons why people said never buy Hyundai. Shouldve listened to them.
I have a 2007 Azera. This is not my first Hyundai, but this seems to be the one I am most disappointed in. I bought the car used in 2011. The car was clean, drove great, was good on gas mileage, then the check engine light came on. I took the car on a regular basis for oil changes and maintenance and when they hooked the car up to find out why the engine light was on, they had no answer. It didnt even register that it was on. So that was perplexing. Ive learned to live with the check engine light - it goes on and off when it feels like it. Then the motor on my sunroof stopped working, it will no longer open or close all the way. About a week ago I was leaving for work and I went to get in my car and the seat was pushed all the way back, now as a woman I panicked and thought someone had been in my car, but that wasnt the case. When I finally felt safe to enter my car (there was no one hiding in my back seat),I adjusted my seat back to normal manually.I started driving down the road and the seat readjusted itself without me touching anything, once again I panicked but this time it was because I couldnt reach the pedals. I turned around came back home and switched cars with my husband because I had no idea what the problem was and I didnt want to get on the highway and not be able to reach the pedals. He drove the car to his work and not only did the seat keep adjusting itself but the steering wheel moved also. On the way home that day, he said it seemed to be fine. Now a week to the day later, today, I was leaving work to come home which is a 48 mile drive, my cars seat was all the way back again. I tried adjusting it, I shut the car off and tried to start over, NOTHING - the seat kept automatically going back. Is this safe? Should I be driving this car when I cant even reach the pedals? Im very afraid at this point that I am going to get into an accident or cause an accident. What do you suggest?
2006 Hyundai Sonata: air bags no longer work; lights on; and dealers service department says this is not covered under 100k warranty. I have 70k miles. This is a safety issue and Hyundai says its not covered! I am reading this particular issue over and over on websites! It is very poor that there is no warranty on this issue. Several hundred dollars is needed out of my pocket to repair it. I cant afford it. So, in case of an accident, too bad! And yes, the passenger air bag had to be repaired couple of years ago. Now, neither work (according to the system).
We have two Hyundais, loved one and got another (Santa Fe). Well built, good gas mileage, comfortable, nice looking and good resale value, good warranty. If I could afford the Genesis it would be my next car.
Our second & last Hyundai. Car hesitates & bucks very bad from a full stop. Fuel gage not accurate at all. According to brochure car has a 16.4 gallon fuel tank, but when you go to fill it only takes about 9-10 gallons after low fuel indicator reads 30 miles or so to empty. Took car to Obrien Hyundai of Fort Myers shortly after purchase & given a runaround about problem. Told by service writer that there was no code displayed.Talked to 2 independent mechanics who both said it sounds like the fuel pick up or sending unit is either bad or loose in fuel tank. Filled out complaint form with Hyundai USA, called back a week later & was told someone would contact me. No one ever contacted me. After another 2 weeks called Hyundai & was told issue was not escalated because problem did not sound serious enough. Finally contacted Hyundai USA customer service who agreed to escalate case.
I brought my 2008 Veracruz to the dealer to have 90.0K maintenance. I complained that auto accelerated in between 3rd and 4th gears. The dealer stated that diagnostics reported no issues. Two months later, the car accelerated out of control while driving on a highway. I was able steer car onto a shoulder, while placing the car in neutral, yet the engine was revving out of control. The tachometer showed RPM was at 5! I turned off engine and waited for a few minutes and the car started without a problem.I brought it to transmission specialist who conducted a diagnostics check. They stated the problem was electrical within the gas pedal and throttle. The next day, I returned the car to the dealer. However, the car seized and had to get towed to the dealership. The dealership is not sure what the problem was. I am getting the runaround from the dealer! I will take the next steps upon hearing back from the dealership!
Very durable vehicle that lots of extra perks like electric seats, blind spot mirror, Bluetooth and back up camera. I have owned this Hyundai Tucson for a year and have not had a single problem with it.
On 8/20/2013 I was leaving the VA clinic, I put the car in drive and pressed the gas. A few seconds later the car sounded like a motorcycle and the check engine light came on. I didnt want to drive it on the highway so I took the main streets. The exhaust got louder and louder and I was afraid it might cause engine damage. I saw a Meineke Car Care Center and pulled in. They lift the car and the mechanic said that the converter gasket blew out. While installing a new gasket he noticed that the gasket flange on the front pipe was a little distorted probably from all the heat. He told me he would have to put a small amount of sealer on the gasket to make up for the gap and that he didnt know if it would hold, but it would get me to the Hyundai service department without hurting the engine. When he had finished and started the car it was perfect. No noise, no leaks. I had an appointment with Twin City Hyundai on 9/12 for a recall problem. I told them what had happened and the Service rep., the service manager and a mechanic looked for almost an hour and took some parts off the front of the engine. The service rep. called me over and started explaining what was wrong with the car. He said, and they ALL agreed that the manifold was cracked and had to be replaced, the converter was no good, and needed a new front pipe, and they may find other problems after they tore it down. Travis said it would cost $1400 to $3000 if the warranty didnt cover it. Travis (the service rep.) said he had to take some pictures to see if the warranty would cover the cost. On Monday 9/16 Travis called and said the warranty was void because it was road damage, and said it would be as much as $3,000.00 to fix it. Travis NEVER said anything about “Road Damage” on 8/20 after the 3 of them had a one hour inspection. After I got Travis’s call I took the car back to Meineke and told them what Twin City said it would cost. They were outraged and called it a scam. Meineke fixed the car perfectly by installing a new front pipe and their inspection showed NO manifold crack, and no need to replace the converter as it was working properly. The front pipe was $200.00.I drove to Twin City Hyundai and acted like I wanted to have them fix the car. I asked Travis to take another look and make sure he was sure about his appraisal, and what the car needed to be fixed. Even though the car was fixed he still said that it could be as much as $3000 but definitely no lower than $1400. That’s when I told him the car was fixed for $200 and that I wondered how many others he had scammed. I then went up and talked to the General Manager **, and explained the fraud that they tried to pull. His comments were “what would you like me to do about it?” I said as the General Manager, I guess that was up to him, and then out of nowhere he says you are banded from brings your car here for warranty service. He tries to punish me for because I caught his people trying to scam me out of $2800.00.
Zero Rating if possible. I dont really know where to begin with this brand and its terrible cars. I purchased a brand new Hyundai Sonata Turbo in 2013. Ive spent countless hours with my car in the shop over the car sputtering, shaking, cutting off at stop signs. Not to mention the electronics in the car are terrible; Bluetooth doesnt connect half the time for unknown reasons. Theres been at least 4 recalls done since I purchased this car. I had to get a total electrical discharge done to reset the electronics because the car was going haywire. Finally, Im down on Myrtle Beach for vacation and the car totally shuts off. Turns out it was a faulty engine that needed to be replaced. Took 30 days to get the engine sent in from Korea and replaced. Then somehow the rental car that I had racked up an amazing 2400 bill of which Hyundai determined to only pay $400. And then afterward I noticed the car jumping and things shifting and making horrible noises under the hood. Turns out the repairmen didnt screw the transmission mount screws on tight enough both of the bolts had the heads off and the transmission was moving around while I was driving. The dealership told me the car would be fine to drive and so I did until it just became unbearable. Now they want me to fork over another $1700 to replace the entire subframe that they messed up when installing the engine. Hyundai is a horrible company with Horrible cars. I will never purchase another thing from you and your terrible dealerships. Go out of business for the countries sake or leave your terrible cars in Korea.
The timing belt went out on my 2008 Hyundai Accent with just over 63,000 miles, just over the 60,000 warranty. But thats not the worst of it. The dealership where I had it towed told me that I have a cracked cylinder head also. So here I am 600 miles away with a loaner because they couldnt fix it then. That was last week!I called Hyundai, but they say it is out of warranty. I have had other vehicles with lots more miles that needed a timing belt replaced, but nothing that affected the engine like this.
Purchased a used 2015 Santa Fe because of good reviews and reliability, or so I thought; unbeknownst to me the vehicle had recall and service campaign issues after class actions alerted the public to defective engines produced for many years, known to cause dangerous engine failures and fires. A former Hyundai engineer whistleblower was awarded over $200 million for alerting about the engines in production which had massive safety concerns. Many consumers had dangerous engine failures but end up being told their necessary engine replacement is not covered due to loopholes or their lack of installing a bandaid fix; software that does not fix the engine but it merely is meant to alert the driver if engine failure is due to happen.Many consumers are told Not covered because service campaign was not performed to install software which was a bandaid fix anyway. The software does not fix the defective engine...it simply is installed to hopefully alert you if the defective engine fails. Whether it has the bandaid software installed or not...if the defective engine fails, Hyundai needs to cover the replacement engine.
I have a 2016 Hyundai Veloster Turbo and it kept stalling while in drive. My seats started cracking after only 6 months. My resonator and exhaust has to be replaced with less than 6000 miles on it. Hyundai definitely needs to recall this vehicle because my car has been back and forth in the shop due to the mechanics solely depending on computer codes to find whats wrong. Do it the old way. Actually look at the components and parts of the car. It should not take almost 3 weeks to figure out the grounding wires were bad.
Last year, my sister took her 2012 Hyundai in for an oil change where she lived inn New Mexico. Shortly afterwards, as she was driving back to New Jersey, she heard a strange noise from her front wheel area. I accompanied her to the Hyundai dealership in Burlington, NJ. They told her that it was her wheel well protector and that the snaps were missing and she needed to have it replaced. It was not covered under warranty and ended up costing her over $300. I had read that another customer had the same issue. Her car had never been involved in any accident whatsoever. Now she has an issue with her passenger seat belt has locked and will not release. I will let you know later what the dealership has to say about this. I know now I will never buy a Hyundai after reading these reviews.

I have been working with Hyundai on my Trip Reimbursement Case #**, and I have been appalled by how poorly the customer service is. This happened in Jan, I submitted, it was LOST internally by Hyundai, so I resubmitted in May, and I am now sitting August 2nd and still have not heard anything about it. Hyundai is a multi-billion dollar corporation, and they cannot reimburse me for the ~$750 worth of incurred expenses from a warranty claim they did for a $35,000 car? This is insane, I will never buy from Hyundai again, and I cannot believe they are still a company with this sub-par customer service. So even though I have called dozens of times, and sent countless emails, I assume Hyundai is going to give me the same response as before, NO RESPONSE. Do not shop with Hyundai unless you want to be thoroughly disappointed.
I encountered a snow storm on last week while driving my 2012 Hyundai Tucson. My after a couple of hours of driving, the Tucson’s power dropped and I was unable to drive the car beyond 45km, I was only able to get it into 3rd gear to get me home (which is a feature that the vehicle has). I thought it was a transmission problem. However, while getting repaired at my dealership (Meyers Hyundai) the service manager told me that the issue was: The Tucson’s AirBox was clogged with Snow and it affected the power transfer to the engine. My bill was the following (new Air filter, Plugs, and an Injection service) totaling at $583.00, by simply driving the vehicle in the snow. I have owned many cars before in the past and never had the vehicle fail due to snow. Even the Server Manager at my dealership could not believe the vehicle responded this way in the snow. WAS THIS VEHICLE TRULY BUILT FOR CANADIAN WINTER WEATHER!!! I contacted their customer relations team who responded: If the Hyundai dealership determines that the issue is not as a result of a manufacturing defect, we regret to inform you that the repair will not find coverage under your vehicles warranty coverage. Unfortunately, we regret to inform you that we cannot assist you with these repairs.
When I purchased my Kia (At Hyundai), it was used so the dealership offered me an extended warranty that they sold, so I bought because you know, it’s a used car. Well last week my engine locked up on me randomly on the highway so my initial thought was “Call Hyundai because they sold my warranty to me.” So I did, and they came and towed my vehicle. Well until my extended warranty covered my repairs, I could not get a loaner so I was stuck with nothing. The next day I called and they informed me that I needed to provide proof of all my oils changes but I’ve only ever gone somewhere once to get it done. Others were done outside of a shop because I mean a lot of people do that (wasn’t done by me). They needed AT LEAST two from an actual mechanics shop (per my warranty although the warranty just states I need proof of oil change even though just giving them a receipt wasn’t enough). Well I didn’t have what they needed. So they asked if they could be approved for 2 HOURS of labor so they could get to the issue of my locked engine, through email, which was fine at the time because I was like whatever I just need my car fixed and I thought they were trying to help me out. Well two days go by, I had left the GM TWO voicemails, and no returned call so I drove up there myself to talk to him. THAT WAS A JOKE. He basically said my warranty wouldn’t cover it because it looks like it was a neglect on my end but he wanted me to keep it there “just in case”. A couple days later I find out about a settlement going on between Kia & Hyundai where they are having to replace certain models engines (A LOT that is) because of the recall on them. Hyundai swore they spoke with someone at Kia and asked if there was any recall or extended warranty on my motor, and the guy at Kia said no. COME TO FIND OUT that is NOT what the guy at Kia said and what’s crazy is Hyundai KNOWS about the protocols for this recall on my motor because they have the same issues with theirs!! They then blamed me for it not being fixed and having to owe because I “interrupted” the inspection being done by Apex, but the ONLY reason I did was because I needed a loaner ASAP and Kia promised I’d have one as soon as I got my car over there because they knew the issue fell under the settlement agreement that Hyundai knew about too but stated they were told I didnt have an extended warranty with the settlement which is why they went through Apex. But, Apex would have seen the engine was locked and known about the settlement which would have resulted in them denying the repairs. AND HYUNDAI knows that they would’ve have had to send it to Kia anyways due to my engine being locked, but they decided to take it into their own hands so they could make SOMETHING off of me. I not once signed ANY paperwork because they were communicating with me through EMAIL (how professional I know). And then the service department got MAD at me because I called and tried to get ahold of their GM (that was a joke, HE is a joke). He never returned my calls, so I went up there myself and spoke with him (that was also a joke. I don’t even see how he’s a GM).Needless to say, they will not give my car to Kia until I pay them $600 when I only approved them for 2 hours of work. And when I mentioned this, the service manager said it was because they had to reassemble my car before they could tow it, which is fine but I NEVER got a call about this or ANYTHING. When I mentioned THAT, he then replied with “Well I can disassemble it and you can come pick it up that way then”. When I say I will NEVERRRR give this sorry dealership my money EVERRRR again, I mean this with everything in me!!! They take advantage of the fact that I’m a woman and I don’t really know what’s going on.They tried to say “Well even if you pay the $600, you’ll get reimbursed by Kia for it” and after speaking with Kia’s director he informed me that that is NOT true and that it would be EXTREMELY tough to get them to reimburse me. This Hyundai dealership has taken my niceness for granted, and I hope that NO ONE ever gives them their money!!! I know $600 doesn’t seem like much, but I pay for EVERYTHING that goes on in my life, by myself (w/ Carrington’s help too) and I refuse to give my money to these hateful, disrespectful, worst communicators, ANY OF MY MONEY. This place just wanted to make SOMETHING off of me because they knew they’d get basically nothing. What’s sad, is if my car could just get to Kia I would have a brand new motor due to the settlement and be in a loaner car. Right now because of Hyundai, I have gone two weeks having to depend on my mom. And I will be contacting the BBB.May I add that the service department made it very clear that I pissed them off by going to the GM. I am a college student and have two kids who I have to get to school every morning as well as myself to work!! And I’ve been without any kind of vehicle for two weeks. They have ZERO signed papers by me, and I just can’t believe this at all. The service manager said word for word “Well if you’d like I can disassemble it and then you can come pick it up” all because I said they never called and asked for my permission before doing something that would cost me this much.
Hyundai Motors did contact me and refunded what I paid to the towing company. We would have deleted the comment I made earlier but was unable to do so. Thank you Hyundai Motors for your quick response.
I have a 2013 Sonata. I love my car (not the payments of course), took my car to xyz shop for an oil change, was advised I also needed my engine flushed - did that. It was giving me problems, take the car to blah blah dealership and Im told I have no oil in car. I asked why my sensors never came on.. no one knows. Hyundai swears they have never had this problem before but after reading these reviews I beg to differ. Oh and I also voided my service warranty but no one can tell me exactly why.
I am at this point, a thoroughly dissatisfied customer with Hyundai. I leased this Hyundai 2016 Plug In Hybrid car from Hyundai in 2016 Feb and had a very good experience with the car all this while. I had been using the car for my 70 mile daily commute and loved the car. Then on May 18th, my car had problems - it refused to start in my office parking lot. I called the Hyundai dealership and they told me to get the car towed in so they can take a look. The car was brought in to the Hyundai service center. 3 days later, the diagnosis was that the hybrid battery needs to be replaced. The service technician expected to get the replacement battery in 5 days. 5 days later, no updates. I kept following up for the next 3 weeks, and still no updates. I finally escalated the matter to their consumer affairs department. They took two weeks to investigate, and came back with an offer to pay me a compensation amount, while I waited for the car to get fixed. The update they gave me then was that the car will be fixed by July 15th. By July 15th, they had no actual progress! And now, the latest update is that they will fix the car by August 21st! I am really disappointed that Hyundai has shown no interest in getting this fix expedited despite the fact that its already 2 months plus. A one year old car, in warranty, is just sitting idle in the service shop, waiting for a critical part! I have sworn off Hyundai for my life and would never recommend anyone to buy another Hyundai car ever again!!!
The car itself is wonderful. I have a hydrogen fuel cell Nexo. The company is terrible. Zero stars. Worst experience. I had my car towed to this location by roadside assistance from Hyundai, due to screw that lodged into my tire, causing it to flatten. This could have been a quick fix and I was told they give roadside tow-ins priority. Hyundai roadside assistance was great but did not check or mention my car model is not serviceable at all locations. I now know. The dealer held my car hostage for 4 days, no call back (left about 6 messages) until we called Sales department on 3rd day, and they spoke rudely to my friend who was trying to help me out (dont call service department they will never pick up or call back, go to sales they will pick up). I decided on the 4th day (Tues morning) after they told me it would be ready by Tuesday morning, to just simply show up and they said it would was not ready and would be ready in 5 hours. So I said I would sit there and wait, and when I finally decided to call another tow truck and told them to pull my car out, they said the tire was there and they were going to fix it now. Funny how that worked out. I also have an app on my phone that tells me the location of the car. It somehow was in SF not in Richmond when I checked on Saturday, but was back in the dealership on Sunday. Not sure if someone took it for a joyride, but after the non-communication, I wouldnt put it past them. Avoid this place at all cost. I love the Nexo, hate Hyundai the company and will be selling my car soon to avoid this headache again.
2005 Hyundai xg350 has been back at Hyundai numerous times for air bag lite on problem since car was new. After the warranty expired we decided to just forget about it, enough is enough. And the lite is still on.
I purchased a new Hyundai back in April 2011. The corporation has had my name incorrect since the purchase. However, my car title came correct. After the MPG rebate came out, I needed to repair the incorrect name to receive the rebate. After four months, I continued to get the runaround about my incorrectly spelled name. I am no closer to getting it corrected today than four months ago when I first started working on this. They have received my original bill of sale and title with 5 miles on it. I have no issues with the vehicle and the dealership that I purchased the vehicle. However, the corporation has been less than responsive and unable to fix a relative easy problem.
I have to say, I made a huge mistake going with my tried and true Honda or Toyota. To save a few bucks off sticker I purchased a 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT. At about 60,000 miles, imagine just when the warranty really expires the car starts to stall when I start every once in a while, about every two months, finally the thing stalls in the middle of the highway. How pleasant that experience was. In any case I get towed to nearest Hyundai dealer who proceeds to charge me an upfront diagnostic fee. I have no choice but to pay to find out what is wrong.The manager of Hyundai dealer tells me I need all new spark plugs and ignition coils to the tune of $600 plus dollars. I tell him that this stall issue has been happening for a while. He says, Sorry you passed 60,000 miles. Its your fault you didnt bring to dealer sooner. I say, Ignition coil and plugs are supposed to last a minimum of 100,000 miles and you know Mr manager that the problem started well before I passed 60,000 miles, it didnt just wake up at 67,000 and drop dead. I said, Can you work with me? I will accept some responsibility, for not getting here earlier, lets split the cost. Manager says, No can do. GO to corporate and ask them.I do call corporate and go through the whole thing that these plugs and ignition coils did just break down overnight. I know I am 7,000 miles over the warranty but I feel because of your inferior parts caused the failure, is there anything you can do? The old lady at Corporate who I am speaking seemingly takes some pleasure in telling me basically to go pound sand. I go back to the dealer and explain how rude corporate was and not covering anything. Dealer says, That too bad but thats corporates decision not mine. I cant help you. So as a customer they make you go between the dealer and corporate. Corporate says not my fault ask dealer. Dealer says not my fault ask Corporate. Nice customer service, just a game.Finally I break down and ask the dealer to make the fix. At first they dont tell me that they need to only replace the ignition coil that is malfunctioning. They tell me all four have to be replaced. I happen to google it then ask if all 4 coils need to be replaced. Mgr says, Oh right just the one that is not working, that will save you money. Fine, I tell them to do the fix.Finally the car is supposedly fixed and I pay for it and get in start to drive away. To my astonishment now the car is ticking loudly. I cant believe it. Its worse. Anyway I now have to make another appointment to fix the new very loud engine ticking noise. I have not done so yet because I am going to trade the piece of junk in for a real car like a HONDA or a TOYOTA. Point is Hyundai makes cheaper crappy cars that may run for a bit then slowly break down. BTW the resale value of the Hyundai is horrible. Its pay me now or pay me later. Moral of the story you should pay a few thousand more for Honda or Toyota which is proven to last and has higher resale values. GOODBYE HYUNDAI.
I bought my 2012 Sonata GLS brand new in March of 2012 with 36 miles on it. Never a single mechanical issue with it until this past January 2015. My car randomly shut off while driving home from getting my oil changed at the dealer. After trying to figure out the problem on our own with no luck, I called the dealership the next day and they told me to call Hyundai Roadside Assistance and have the car towed into the shop so they could take a look at it and figure out what was going on.I called roadside assistance and after going round and round with the man on the phone, they located my car and towed it to the dealership. A day or two later, I hadnt heard anything about the status of my car, so I called the service dept and asked what was going on. I was told Oh! I was JUST about to call you! and they informed me that my engine locked up. When I asked how that happens and was told that he had no idea how it happened because I always have my car serviced at the dealer so they have records that my cars maintenance has been kept up with. I had to ask what I was supposed to do about a vehicle while they waited for Hyundai to approve a new engine. Then he asked my age, I informed him I was 25 and then he told me they could put me in a loaner car but probably not till the next day.They put me in a loaner car, the engine was approved and put in and they called me to come pick up my car. About a week after picking up my car, my check engine light came on. I was nervous because I was about to leave to go on a 5 hour trip. I called and they told me to come in so they could check it. I went in and the lady told me it was basically the car registering that there had been a problem before which didnt make a lot of sense to me, but she cleared the light and I went on my way.Not long after that, I was on the highway and my car was jerking while I was driving. I called the dealership right away and the man told me that is normal. It’s basically the car re-learning the new engine. I took his word for it because I dont know much about cars and that made a little sense. My check engine light came on again and I called the dealer. I was told I would be charged a $90 diagnostic fee for them to see why it was on. Not long after that, I was sitting in a pretty long line in the drive-thru of a restaurant and looked down to see my temperature warning light on and my temperature gauge was all the way to the hot side. As soon as I started driving, it quickly went down and after having it looked at, I was informed that my fan is not working which is why the car overheats when it sits idle, but is fine when driving.I then went to Advanced Auto to have them see why my check engine light was on. The associate informed me that it was my camshaft position sensor and my crankshaft position sensor. I took my car into the dealer because it was due for an oil change. While I was there, they told me there was a recall with something to do with the computer. While I was there, I talked with a woman at the service desk and explained the whole situation to her. She told me that sensors arent covered under my PowerTrain warranty and that even though the engine and the sensors were new they still were not covered and would be my responsibility to fix. They changed my oil and they fixed the recall and 5 days later, my car wont even start.Today (6/9/15) I once again, called Hyundai roadside assistance and they picked up car up from my home and took it to the same dealer this morning. I received a call this afternoon from the same man I dealt with when they put the new engine in. He informed me that my starter went bad and that it is not covered under my warranty and there is no way that could have been our fault from putting in a new engine and they would need to put a new one in before they could check to see why the car was overheating. He said to get the new starter in, I was looking at around $500 and he would go ahead and get that put in for me now. Didnt even bother to ask if thats what I wanted him to do which I didnt. I told him NOT to do that, and that I would be looking into other options. I have literally NEVER been more frustrated with a company in my entire life. I pay a great deal of money every month because I wanted to buy a brand new car so that I wouldnt have all these problems, yet here I am. No car and no idea what to do to get this situation taken care of when I dont have the money to pay for all these issues.
Fuel tank of Hyundai Matrix - I was driving may car on Ras Sidr Road, Sinai, Egypt, when I heard the sound of a little stone. It was moved by the tire, hitting the underneath of the car. Then when I went to a fuel station to refuel, some people told me that there was a continuous heavy gasoline discharge from the underneath of the car. Inspecting the gasoline source, I found it coming through a hole in the fuel tank caused by that little stone which had hit the underneath of the tank. Inspecting the hole, I found a linear crack intersecting with a circular hole. I had a technician dismounted the fuel tank, soldered it, and re-mounted it.Here, I want to express my deep astonishment for a hole to happen to a car fuel tank by a little stone hit, since a stone hit is a very likely thing to happen to a moving car and must logically be taken account for during the tank design. Being still subject to the possibility of the danger of solder failure, which is a very high dangerous matter, this was fuel explosive and fire hazard for my family if the problem was not detected and repaired.I am asking you to: 1. Search for the cause of such damage, so as not to happen again to other people. 2. To remount a new fuel tank for my car.
I have a beautiful Hyundai Tucson sitting in my driveway, towed there from the Dealership who advised my that my engine has failed and will cost $7000 to replace. The car is just a year and a half old. I missed a service therefore Hyundai will not assume any responsibility. I am disgusted that a car as new is this has an engine failure. It hasn’t run out of oil, no warning light came in (until the engine started rattling and I took it to the dealership the next day). Hyundai your customer service is as appalling as the engine in my car. I will be telling everyone to avoid Hyundai at all costs.
This car is very nice, it has the up to date features. Love the back up camera. Drive very smooth, low in mileage and 20$ fills the tank up. Great car for college students.
I was rear ended and I hit a light pole. I knocked down this pole and my truck was total. I was concern that my air bag did not come out. I drive a 2011 Hyundai Veracruz. I was concern why my airbag did not protect me that I research safety of the truck and found out there are recall on my truck and I was not informed. I have not move so I should have received a notice.
I bought a used 2010 Hyundai Accent with 31,000 miles from a Columbus used car lot. I wanted to get the car certified so that I could reinstate the 100,000/10 year powertrain warranty. I called the Hyundai corporate headquarters in Arizona, and was told by a long-time, highly experienced customer service rep that all I had to do was take the car to any Hyundai dealership, pay a fee, and they would perform the 150-point inspection required to certify me car. I made it abundantly clear that the car was not bought from a Hyundai dealership. I called four different Hyundai dealerships in Columbus/Newark, Ohio and spoke with an unparalleled collection of rude and ignorant idiots, who all provided different interpretations of the Hyundai warranty, although all sold that brand for a living. Four hours later, I received a frantic call from a young man who identified himself as a Hyundai Case Manager. Apparently he had reviewed the voice tape of my conversation with the corporate customer service rep, and was calling to tell me that the rep did not understand the pre-certification procedure, and that Hyundai could not and would not certify my vehicle. Next I called the Hyundai dealership in Heath, OH about repairing a plastic bumper cover that had already cracked in the bitter cold we have been experiencing (in my garage). I was told very rudely that the Hyundai Bumper-to-Bumper warranty does not include bumpers!! I have had the car three weeks, and this is my experience with Hyundai. By the way, this is a car that was rated at 40 miles/gallon highway in 2010 which, after testing, was shown to get 32 mpg at best. NEVER DEAL WITH HYUNDAI.
I purchased a Hyundai i20 Magna from Joshi Automobiles Mohali Punjab. At the time of delivery, several things were not provided to me though they said they’ll deliver it to me within few days. Even when I got my car insured from Joshi Showroom twice, every time, the insurance policy was sent after 6 months. Now, about the tire problem, the tires they provided me with the car were of zero quality. Just after 3 months, the tires got punctured not just one or two times. In fact, all tires were getting punctured twice or thrice a week. I lodged several complaints but there was no action taken by the dealer. Just for show cause, they issued me a fake inspection report.
I bought my 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT based on the reputation, look of the car and the estimated mileage. I had previously owned an all wheel drive car - the handling of which was fabulous but was unhappy with the mileage (20 city/25 highway). The Elantras estimated 27/37 mpg was worth giving up excellent handling. Initially my mileage was 23/28 with the Hyundai and so I waited a few months thinking the car needed to be broken in. Now, a year later, I am still only getting approximately 24mpg in the city and 29mpg on the highway. I complained to the service department in September and they agreed to test the mileage.Heres what happened at the test: I topped off the tank 1/4 mile from the dealer and delivered a filled-to-capacity tank. They then drove the car 40 miles and then refilled the tank with 1.089 gallons determining that my car gets 36.73 miles per gallon. Knowing that was impossible, I drove immediately to the same filling station and put an additional .615 gallons in the tank, topping it off. Obviously, their idea of topping it off and mine were very different. With the additional .615 gallons, the mileage would have been determined correctly at 23.52 which was just about what I have been getting. When I called and asked them about it, they couldnt understand my point and stood by their test. I contacted Hyundai Consumer Affairs who spoke to the dealership and determined that there was no more they could do at that point unless I wanted pay for a test at another dealership. I was unwilling to do that if the first test had already proven to MY satisfaction that the mileage I had been getting all along was all I was going to get and another dealer, when contacted, said they would just take the mileage reading from the cars gauge to determine mpg. The gauge always shows 2-3 mpg better than what I actually get and is still nowhere need their estimated 27/37. I knew Hyundai had been fined for overestimating mpg in the past and in fact have a program of reimbursement because so many people have complained about the misrepresentation of mpg so I actually thought that meant I could trust their estimated mpg because they would not want to be found lacking in that area again. However, that is clearly not the case. At this point I feel I have no recourse except to register my complaint and hope something can be done to my satisfaction.

We loved our 2006 Hyundai up until a few months ago. The check engine light came on at slightly more than 50,000 miles so we took it in for service. It has been back 3 times to the tune of $1300 plus, somehow needed all new brakes, canister close valve replaced (supposed reason for light being on), and the check engine light is still on. The last time we took it back they said the gas cap was loose. The light stayed off for about three days then came back on again. We had four different people check the gas cap, but it stayed on. We then went out to get a new gas cap -- light is still on and the car has a ticking sound that it did not have before the service.I have called customer service three times -- they are nice, but do nothing -- sent a FedEx letter to corporate -- it was refused by their mail room -- so will now take the car to a regular mechanic who can perhaps find the problem. DO NOT BUY A HYUNDAI!!! They run great until a problem comes up and then the service is not there. We used the Danbury Dealership in CT, but have heard the one in Vero Beach, FL is just as bad.
The 2012 Hyundai Sonata is pretty and stylish inside and out. I bought the Limited Trim with all the bells and whistles. Problems: The steering began to tug to one side while the car was still under bumper-to-bumper warranty. We took the car several times to the dealership and they could not see anything wrong with the vehicle. I was told this behavior was within Hyundais specification and that it was normal for the vehicle. This is the first vehicle that I have owned that has this abnormal normalcy. This problem has not gone away. Vibration. I cannot tell you enough how irritated I have been with this vibration. Once you go over a certain speed (Im not sure at the moment, but Im not talking of highway speed - just normal in-town speed), the car begins to vibrate. Ive gone to the dealership over and over and over. I am tired and angry that a brand new 2012 car will behave this way and the people at the dealership cant figure out what the seems to be the problem.Not too long ago, my wife and I noticed that when turning the vehicle made a certain noise as if something was about to break, as if some metal was hitting another metal. The dealership said it was a steering column problem and we had to pay out of pocket to fix it since we have put over 60,000 miles on the car. The car has gone out of bumper-to-bumper warranty. The lingering problems (listed above), I have to fix out of pocket. It will take a lot, a whole lot, for me to buy a Hyundai vehicle ever again. I loved the roominess and stylishness of the Sonata, but it seems that those are about all it has. I am very disappointed in this vehicle to say the least. My 2009 Chrysler 300C never gave me these troubles.
My 2006 Hyundai Elantra gave out suddenly with no warning light/sign on my way from Atlanta, GA to Nashville, TN. The radiator had bursted, blowing out all the stored coolant, and caused some engine damage. The car have been lightly driven with only 34K mileage and engine was clearly under Hyundais 10-yr warranty. We had it towed 100 mileages to the nearest dealership. However, Hyundai corporate has flat out denied our engine warranty claim because the radiator was out of warranty and that we had done our maintenance at a local NTB instead of their dealership. In other words, their 10-yr warranty is just a big fat lie because their claimed defect component contains nothing but the engine itself, which almost never gives out at its own. It is unbelievable an engine could give out at such early mileage. They also broke a federal rule and denied my claim just because I had my service done at another service shop. The entire process was full of bad customer service. My family and I were constantly hang up on that we have to rotate the calling. Representatives were rude and apathetic toward our situation. This is honestly the worst company we had to deal with out of my life!
It is a common experience for the visors to fall around 60,000 miles on Hyundai Accents. I found 22 complaints on the internet right away, without delving very deeply. The driver visor fell on my head while driving, so I couldnt see for about 15 seconds. This is very dangerous. It also hurt my head. Had to hold the visor up until I got home. Then had to cut it off. The passenger visor fell a few months later. Called customer service and they kept telling me a case manager would call me. He was supposed to call within 3-5 business days. He didnt call for 25 days, until I kept calling and wrote a customer complaint on the Hyundai site. Even though this is quite a common issue... and a safety issue that is happening to many people, I was told that Hyundai wont do anything to help with the costs. It costs $300 to get both visors fixed.
I sent my payment on the 24th of Nov, and it was due in the 22nd, I receive a late charges of $55.04, called customer service to waive. They refused strongly, they are rude, unprofessional and nasty... Im leasing an 2016 Equus, will never lease from them again. I left Lexus for Hyundai, that was the stupidest mistake I ever made, will make sure all the people I know will not lease from those people.
Please put signal/turn lights on the taillights and not just the back bumper. Other drivers are used to seeing blinkers right on tail lights and not on the bumper. I understand this key point makes Hyundai different from other car brands, but I feel the location of blinkers should be universal for all cars regardless of the brand for safety reasons.
The last time I had my car serviced, it was at 24000 miles and the service person said my tires need to be changed. Tell me why my $42.000 Genesis should need tires. We only do local driving. Im not very happy.
The paint is peeling of my 2009 Sonata. The dealer said that there is a 36,000-mile warranty on paint. This car has never even been through a car wash and has had excellent care. How can the paint be coming off of a new car and the dealer will not repair the damage?
The vehicle is a bit noisy. Not the most comfortable car I have sat in. Eventually the seat belt on the drivers side was hard to fasten. Like the locking system, the rear camera and rear washer whipper.
I recently and painfully purchased a new elantra limited. Painfully, because of all the runaround I encountered and despite having researched extensively, still having gotten screwed financially. Dont look for any fairness at Hyundai in Pittsburgh, cause they wear you out with the run around, even if youre trading in a Hyundai sonata that was supposed to keep its value. The sale price for the car may be $21000, but it ended up costing me over $25000 with a trade in. And should I be upset about having blowout flat tire at 533miles, especially when both Hyundai and the tire manufacturer Hankook both deny the defectiveness of their cheap tires? It appears that since Hyundai is dependent on the dealerships to sell their cars, they are Willing to give them some slack on dishonoring the warranties, including on their defective tires. Defective tires can lead to accidents and death! I suppose it will take a certain amount of death to occur before Hyundai takes some action like GM had to. I thought Hyundai was better than that, but apparently not!
In June we leased a 2017 Tucson Limited. Our current 2015 Sonata Limited lease had 4 months left on the lease but we were fine with paying those months so we could head out on a 3-month road trip in the new Tucson. The dealer told me that when I turned in the 2015 Sonata it would be inspected by their Hyundai turn in person. I made arrangements with the Jim Clicks Hyundai lease turn in specialist who was the Used Car Manager to inspect my car a few days prior to the actual turn-in date. I wanted to make sure there were no issues with the car. I had the pre inspection and he told me it was the cleanest turn-in he had inspected. A few days later I did the actual turn-in and received a turn-in acceptance sheet stating no issues.Hyundai lease told me I would receive a statement in 60 days with the final lease payment charges. When the statement arrived I noticed $115 charged for wear and tear. I called Hyundai Finance and was told one of the tires had less than 4/32 tread remaining and that they needed to buy a tire before they could send the car to auction. This sounds like BS to me. The car had 35K on it at turn-in and the OEM tires should not have been worn out. I was also told that the dealer turn in specialist is not the real inspector and that the car was inspected by a third party company in Phoenix. The reason I had the pre inspection was so I could correct any issues before I had an unanticipated charge. I am paying the statement in full today but this issue has left a sour feeling with us regarding dealing with Hyundai in the future. Our first Hyundai which we still have is a 2006 Sonata and the 2017 Tucson will be our last Hyundai.
Hyundai is ok but Im not really crazy about it. It has a jerking feeling when you take off from driving. It does drive good on the highway but it doesnt in town. I want a smoother ride in town and a fast car. I also wish I had a sunroof and a navigation. Even so, I like that it has 3 different drive modes. It has eco, turbo and standard. The eco saves on gas so I have it on that all the time.
Hyundai has totally misrepresented the mileage. I purchased a 2013 Elantra; I get 24-City, 28-Highway. I have taken the car into the dealership to complain. They told me they find nothing wrong with the car. They told me it was my driving. I was told I need to coast whenever possible. On the street or the highway when I hit the crest, I must take my foot off the gas and coast and then I would improve my mileage. I hate the dealership and this car. I purchased the car because of the 30-38 MPG, and it is simply not true. Do I have any recourse? I would definitely join a class action case against them. Please advise.
3 weeks ago, I bought my 2016 Genesis Coupe and the car salesman did not tell me that the car was going to be very low to the ground, about 3 inches. Yesterday, as I was pulling into a parking spot, the front splash shield guard under my car, got stuck by the parking stopper made out of cement and as I pull back out, the splash shield broke off at the right side. I took the car to the Hyundai dealership to get it repaired. Well, it is going to be over $1,400.00 lots of damage for a little accident that should not had happened, if they would had disclose the height of the car. Just because no one told me that the car is very low to the ground and the splash shield may get stuck and break off as you pull back.
Love this Hyundai SUV! We have over 200,000 miles on it and it just keeps going and going! Weve gone on many road trips and it handles like a dream. Weve traveled from CA to Florida a couple of times and never any problems. The car holds all our luggage on road trips, keeps us protected and fun to drive. I love the heater/air conditioner, smooth ride, the rear seat folds down to hold our luggage on long trips and for any big items we may buy and very comfortable to sleep in if we need to. But I wish they would make it a little better on mileage.
Our 2011 Hyundai Veracruz is at the dealers now. Recalled item was handled previously and failed. However, they say they only fix once - so want us to pay $900+ to have same issue handled. Valve cover gasket allows oil to leak onto alternator, which then fails. Our car is STUCK in Hendersonville because we cant pay for the repair. On our 2011 Hyundai Veracruz: If there was a recall and it had been fixed correctly, the issue should be solved. It is not and the alternator has failed again. There seems to be a manufacturers defect and that is what should be fixed.
