2022 Hyundai Kona N

This year, Hyundai's N performance subbrand takes on its first SUV: the Kona N subcompact crossover. The division's engineers have already worked their magic on the Veloster hatchback, and the result impressed us with its turbocharged four-cylinder, stiff suspension, and sharp handling—all of which you'll find in the Kona N. All the typical sporty elements are present on the exterior: blacked-out grille, creased and hole-punched hood, large air intakes, sleek and simple light signatures, N badges, low-profile tires, a dual exhaust, and a red pinstripe along the bottom edges of the spoiler, side skirts, and diffuser. Inside, a red button on the perforated steering wheel just begs to be pressed. It engages the overboost mode, upping the 276-hp fleet to 286 for 20 seconds. Suedelike seat coverings, more N badges, and Performance Blue accents round out the package.

Purchased new 2013 Hyundai Elantra Limited, do not recommend buying this new or used. Driving highway 100 miles daily, at 60,000 miles had to replace all struts and shocks. Have since replaced all 4 wheels. On 4th set of tires, at 90,000 miles had to replace rear struts and shocks again. Replaced brake calipers as well because they lock up causing the rear tires to be dragged creating flat spots rendering the tire useless. 100K warranty means nothing when everything besides the motor is breaking down daily. I will never purchased a Hyundai again. Honda here I come!!!

I am a soldier and have been in the army for over 20 years, been deployed to 3 tours. I purchased a 2009 Hyundai Azera Limited addition, with Satellite radio and GPS Navigation package, etc. I was looking between Toyota and Hyundai. I leaned Hyundai way because of the 100K warranty. I was thinking that is a great warranty until very recently when I actually needed the warranty. I did not maintain a book to track my oil changes, etc. I did an oil change in late Oct and purchased an aftermarket oil filter from AutoZone and Synthetic Oil. My wife was driving last week and she said the oil light came on briefly, then the Service engine light came on, then the car stopped running. The car has 88K miles on it and when I checked the oil and it was a little less than a quart low. The oil was not even dirty. I took it to the service dept of Hyundai in Lawton, Oklahoma and they are saying they will not honor the 100K warranty because I don’t have records. I tried to explain that I am a soldier and bought the car in El Paso while stationed at Fort Bliss, but it is a pretty sure bet that they are going to leave me high and dry on this. I have purchased 3 different Hyundais from them and this is the first time I needed to test the warranty. Looks like the 100k warranty sounds good on paper but if they dont honor it, I would have went somewhere else. I know I could go to the military Jag to attempt to get legal advice but Im sure Hyundai has much more money than I have so they could play the technicality cards all day and Im basically screwed. I can assure you I will never buy another Hyundai. I called the Cooperate office and am waiting for an answer back but Im really expecting to get the same answer as the local Service Dept. I really hope Hyundai will do the right thing. I have put my life on the line for this country and never expected to be treated like this from them.

Upset that I to give even just 1 star... Horrific experience. Tires are always deflating... (rim issues even when new one were purchased.) Car stopped on a high way (engine recall) and then was without my car for 3 months. No same thing. They lie in the service department. They wont fix my 2 open recalls. My case manager hung up on me and told me that the dealership probably wont help me because they dont want to be bothered with me either. My car currently cost 4300.00 to fix an electrical issue causing the car to no start. I still owe about 6k and have no intentions on keeping the car because I have to fix something every other week. I cant make this up. I cant wait until I get out of this situation. It is not a safe car as my car has stop out of nowhere with no warning 2 times. Its a joke. Do not buy from this brand. Please, I beg you for yourself. Any advice please???

My wife purchased a 2006 NEW Hyundai Sonata. We have always been avid AM News Listeners and from day 1 the radio was worse than Poor for AM. We complained and complained and all they ever said was that the antenna in the rear window was a poor design for an antenna and that was the problem. Well, my wife just purchased a New 2014 Hyundai Sonata and I took the 2006 - since I drive far less miles annually - and now I was determined to get to the problem. When I would drive the car sometimes going over a bump on the road would instantly increase the radios reception but it would last then go back to crappy again. Sometimes as I would start the car and back out of the garage the reception would be great - then 5 minutes later it was back to crap. One day, in the garage, as I was backing out - the reception was jumping back and forth from Poor - Good - Poor to Good - so I whacked the dashboard over the radio with my hand and there was DEAD SILENCE. I turned the car off and then back on and the radio came on but with the typical Weak reception.I purchase the Haynes/Chilton Auto Repair Guide, for the 2006 Hyundai as well a CD Hyundai Shop Manuals, and watched several YouTube videos on how to remove the radio. With the radio removed and exposed - but connected - I started wiggling/moving the antenna cable around and sure enough the reception would go to Great - Poor - and NONE. As I was holding the radio with one hand and changing the station with the other hand I also noticed that if my hand squeezed or put pressure on the top and bottom of the radio - on the Antenna connection side - (in order to hold the radio) the Reception might also go from Great to Poor to None.I could see that the antenna cable connector was CHEAP looking with the center core of the cable soldered - but the Ground wires were crimped and DID NOT look there was a good connection. So I went to Radio Shack and purchased another Motorola Antenna Connector and re-did the connection to the cable. With the radio still exposed and the antenna cable connected with the new Radio Shack connector the radio sounded great. And squeezing didnt seem to have any effect as before. So I put the radio back in and left the pods on the sides of the radio disconnected - temporarily. The measured depth of the New Radio Shack Connector was slightly Longer than the original Cable Connector so it was putting some pressure on the cable and the connection and the radio began to act -up again when installed so I removed the radio (which removed the pinching pressure on the cable) and the radio worked fine.So now it is possible that there is a bad connection, internally, on the Female part of the Antenna cable connection to the radio. I tested the continuity for the Ground and hot points to the cable connection - while I had the radio out and they tested OK - but the test was not under a pressure stress, either. So the bottom line is that Hyundai Continues to LIE and ** about the AM Radio Problems with the 2006 Sonatas. Unlike the most recent excuse from Hyundai Service at Lester Glenn in Toms River, New Jersey, the problem is NOT with the Rear Window-Designed Antenna - its the cheap Connectors, Crappy Radios and the ** Service people who dont want to do their job of fixing your car under warranty. My wife took out the 100,000 miles / 10 year Bumper to Bumper Extended Warranty with Hyundai when she bought the car so now - After 6-8 Hours of MY TIME and the expenses to buy workshop materials - I am going to raise Hell with Hyundai USA!

I own a 2006 Hyundai Tucson that I purchased new and have been nothing but happy with it ever since. I have read many complaints at this website, many of which seem to be against local dealerships. The dealership where I take mine for service is outstanding, friendly, fair, and knowledgeable. My Tucson has required various servicing through the years, mostly all wear and tear and regular use repairs or maintenance, as all vehicles need. I am very happy with my Tucson, the original warranty, and the service and treatment I receive from the dealership. I am 65 years old and have owned various cars in my lifetime, and some of the complaints I read here describe incidents that have happened to me with other vehicle makes and models in the past. Unfortunately, occasionally things can go very wrong. The common thread in these posts seems to be issues with the local dealerships. Communication is of utmost importance from both the dealer and the consumer when there are problems with vehicles. I will close by restating that I am very happy with my Hyundai vehicle and will definitely purchase it again. I highly recommend Hyundai to others.

I recently sent my 2010 AWD to repair the front ends because of it being very noisy. I had the rotors change and brake pads changed and the suspension link fixed. When I got the vehicle, it drove just perfect. It cost me over $500.00 to fix the front ends. No noise and felt very firm. About 2 weeks after, the noise started again like it was never fixed. My warranty just expired in March 2015. That was about the 3rd time I had to take it in for the front ends. Now what shall I do???

There was NO warning sign prior to this. maintenance was kept up with as scheduled. Hyundai Tuscons are DANGEROUS. Please do not purchase a Hyundai vehicle. They are not recalling vehicles as they should be, and someone is going to end up dying over their engine problems.

Wow, I let myself get talked into this 2015 Genesis V-8 and will never buy another Hyundai product again, period. One problem after the next. Now my high-tech battery shot craps. Ive owned the car for 8 months and bought it brand new. RUN away from this brand. They are trying to play in a league they are not equipped to play in.

I have a 2013 Hyundai Elantra and car just went over a small pothole and my tire was flat. I used Hyundai roadside assistance and they towed the car to the nearest dealership. Today they said that the wheel was damaged and I would need a new one costing $450. I asked them whether they would be able to fix the wheel and they said that they dont do that at the dealership and I would have to take it elsewhere. Here is why I am angry.Elantra does not come with a spare tire. They guarantee a huge mileage and one factor is because the weight of a spare tire is reduced. They also say that in case of a flat tire, we can drive around 50 miles to the nearest dealer as these are all tubeless tires and would still run with a flat tire. Well that is exactly what I did and I drove for 3 miles and the car started wobbling and I had to stop as I had my baby inside my car. Hyundai has free roadside assistance and this is why I cancelled my roadside assistance plan with my insurance. However there is a catch here - the car gets towed to the Hyundai dealer (in this case Patrick Hyundai in Schaumburg) who then makes sure that they rip the customer off so that they do not have to bear the cost of the tow. They told that the wheel itself had to be replaced. The rim was banged up and they had to replace the wheel. If was the roadside assistance of an auto insurer, we could have towed the car to any mechanic near us and they would have fixed the wheel. But now as my car is in the Hyundai dealership, I have to replace the part. The wheel gets banged up when it goes on a pretty small pothole? What kind of a wheel is this? The tire is not damaged at all but the wheel rim is damaged. How could this happen. Either Hyundai wheels are not good quality or the dealership is trying to rip off the customer to make up for the towing expense.I wanted to take the wheel to a different workshop to see what they would say but I badly needed the car today and I had to travel tomorrow morning. So I asked the dealer to go ahead and change the wheel. Overall I am unhappy. I am warning all my friends about this as many people fall for the 10 year warranty and free roadside assistance and 8.95 oil change.

My only advice is that you check the Hyundai out carefully: repeat to the salesman every word he tells you about the price. If he says the car is fine, dont take his word for it. We love the car but we were lied to about the price. The car was for my wife, we test drive like 8 different makes and models that day. I paid cash or cashiers check for the car. If my wife didnt like as much as she did, I would of never bought it, because of the lies.

We love the appearance of our Hyundai Sonata. However, it is covered under an oil consumption recall which the dealer will not fix. Hyundais complaint department is no help other than recommending us going to another dealer. The next dealer is further away from us. We already drive too far to the current dealer for them to do the oil consumption test. Said oil consumption test involves the dealer changing the oil early due to the oil consumption. They have guidelines that say the car must use 1 quart of oil by 1,000 miles. Our car makes it barely past 1,000 miles and then hits 2 quarts low before the oil change is due.We have been advised not to add oil or get oil changed anywhere other than the dealership. Thats what we are doing. They seem to overfill the oil each time which gets us barely past that 1,000 mile guideline. We cant trust this car for trips. We cant keep driving back and forth to the dealership for them to do nothing. We will not buy another Hyundai and we will continue to warn others of our troubles.

Hi All, I own a 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and theres a manufacturing issue with the engine. So I reached out to Hyundai and asked them to get it fixed. And I was told that only 65% of the total repair cost will be covered by the Hyundai and remaining 35% has to be paid by me [35% is costing me 3800$]. My question to hyundai is. If theres a manufacturing issue, then its companys responsibility to get it repaired free of cost. Why Im getting charged for it. Nobody is able to give an exact answer for this.

I have a santa fe sport and sonata purchased within 1 year of each other. There have been several warranty issues on both cars. The company is horrible to deal with. MOst recently I called the company because of the issues I had with the dealership and they were no help because the dealerships are all independent, but the next closest dealership is over 1 hour away and you have to go to a dealer for warranty issues. When I spoke to their customer service about rental reimbursement for warranty issues, they said they do that, but dont guarantee (since it may not be a warranty issue and they dont know for sure until the car is fixed). I asked if there was a certain type of car I needed to rent and they said no and said it would be ok to get something similar to the car I own and that would be considered when issuing reimbursement. So I got a mid size SVU rental because I have a santa fe sport and then they would only reimburse about half of what I paid. If they would have been up front with me and said, the max we reimburse is $** then I would have tried to find a cheaper rental. So my warranty repair cost me over $200 in rental fees.

On 3/24/2009, I purchased a new Hyundai Sonata. I had driven the car for 3 years with approximately 29,500 miles. On 3/9/2012, I had my car inspected. The depth measurements on my brake pads were front 9 and 10, rear 12 and 12. All of these measurements were in the green acceptable level which should not require replacement. The corrosion on the rotors was so excessive I was forced to replace the rotors and brake pads. I was also informed that I would have to replace the front rotors and brake pads in the very near future. In addition, I had to replace the dashboard shortly after initial purchase due to a defect and 1 year after purchase, all 4 of my wheel rims have rusted. I was told by the service manager that this was due to the PA winters. When asked that this must be happening to all Hyundai vehicles in PA, he said that was not true. I informed him that I am driving the same roads as other PA drivers. His response was, I am from California and I do not know anything about PA winters.I have purchased and driven numerous brands and vehicles over my 40 years of driving. I follow the recommended vehicle maintenance schedule and wash the vehicle regularly. I have never had to replace rotors and brake pads because the parts could not stand up to the environment. I lived in Buffalo, NY, Minneapolis, MN, Dubuque, IA, and Madison, WI and never had this happen with the Buick, Toyota, Pontiac and Chevrolet products I purchased. In PA, I have owned Jaguar, Buick, Mazda and Chevrolet and again, never had to replace rotors and brake pads due to corrosion. My vehicle warranty was under 3 years of a 5 year 50,000 mile warranty. Hyundai needs to inform consumers of the problem or stop selling cars in winter environments. The winters in PA are very mild versus other areas I have lived in and 2011/2012 winter was absolutely nothing. This must be happening to numerous consumers. If that is not the case, than there is a serious problem with mine. Hyundai is doing nothing to address this problem except, let the buyer beware.

My 2006 Sonata with 38,000 miles developed a bad engine noise. I took it to two dealers in Rochester, NY and it was diagnosed as a defective part in the hydraulic system, keeping chain tension. The cost to repair was $1000. Not something that should be happening on a car with only 38,000 miles. I called Hyundai Customer Affairs and they would not accept responsibility for the problem. This car was passed from father to daughter due to death 4 months earlier and as of 2004, the warranties do not pass to the beneficiary. If the father still owned the car, it would be covered. Hyundai has the worst leasing programs in the business. Do not fall for their lease plan. My wife turned her Equis recently. The car was 12,000 miles under so she thought she was fine. She had the Hyundai dealer wash the car when she took it in for an oil change. They used a pressure washer and took some of the pearl white off the plastic bumper. The manager said they have had issues with this paint and not to worry. Hyundai sent a person out to look at her car and write it up. She wrote down the paint issue. She said it needed a new tire. The tire in question was well within the safe range. Note that this vehicle was known to have under equipped tires on them and she kept the same when she replaced them. After 24,000 miles she had purchased two sets of tires. The Equis was their top of the line vehicle and their bottom of the line vehicles had more bells and whistles on them. My wife had asked before purchasing the vehicle about all of the things like bluetooth and was assured it had it but the salesman didnt know how to work it. That was a lie. She went back the day after purchasing the vehicle and was told Too bad, were sorry. Cant do anything about it. I will say it was the best driving vehicle weve had and I did enjoy it. The problem was the Hyundai Lease, they lie, cheat and dig into your back pocket. DO NOT LEASE THROUGH HYUNDAI. Purchase the vehicle outright or find another lease option. My wife showed the Texas Hyundai Lease manager her original correspondence and how Hyundai Lease didnt get back to her the first week she had it. They do not care about you, just the money. We are waiting on a recall for the white paint to get our money back. Tire places including the dealership said the tire in question was within code. The dealership said they would have waived all of the issues Hyundai Lease found. Remember, youre getting the car from a dealership but youre dealing with Hyundai underhand Lease.

My sister bought two cars. One for her and one for her son. The second day he was stranded on the highway because the engine seized. They went back to the dealer and wanted to return the car and get a new one since this was a major issue for brand new car. They would not do that but also could not fix it so he was without a car for two months until they filed for the lemon law. The dealer was rude to them like this was their fault. They called Hyundai and they would not do anything either. All they wanted was what they bought two cars not one. A work associate of my husbands who also bought a Hyundai from the same dealer had similar issues but it took a year for the engine to finally seize. He had taken the car to the dealer several times about the engine but they never fixed it or admitted there was a problem. There was a recall for 2011-2012 Hyundai’s for engine issues and seems like they have the same issue with 2018 models.

After having a HORRIBLE experience with the Hyundai of North Charleston Dealership in North Charleston, SC (See my review there also) my car was fixed after 3 WEEKS and I was left without having any vehicle for work. I am in sales and work in the field where an automobile is a NECESSITY! Thats why I bought NEW for dependability! My car was still under warranty and only needed a battery & starter (this took 3 weeks). I only had 39k miles.Hyundai customer care REFUSED to pay for a rental car for me and the dealership said NO loaners were available. I was only able to rent a car for 2 days and submitted paperwork for reimbursement and was only offered $150 for the rental when I had to pay almost $300 for the rental for 2 days on an economy size car! Hyundai would not even offer the FULL amount for my 2 DAY RENTAL! Wow! I was told that if I rented a car...Hyundai would reimburse me and turns out this was another MAJOR Letdown from this whole Hyundai ordeal! Its a very good thing (only 1 out of this whole story) that I was not able to rent a car for the 3 weeks...because I would have not gotten ALL my $$ back which would have been a DOUBLE loss of money $$ for me being out of work for 3 weeks AND not having received a FULL Rental car reimbursement! I totally feel disrespected and was treated like my business was of VERY LITTLE VALUE to them. This was my 2nd Hyundai purchase...but after this ordeal...I am DONE with Hyundai...the corporate office seems to be WORST than this dealership! We purchased a new 2017 Hyundai Sonata. The car is still under warranty. In 2020 my wife called and said the oil light was on. I told her to pull over and check the oil. She said there was no oil on the stick. She added two quarts of oil and it was still below the low mark on the stick. I did research and found several class action lawsuits against Hyundai regarding faulty engines dating back to approx. 2010. Here we are 8 years later and dealing with the same issue. We called our dealership and they said we needed bring in the car for an oil consumption test. They changed the oil and charged us for it. The oil consumption test consist of returning to the dealership every thousand miles for 3000 miles so they can check how much oil the engine is using. The final result was the engine burns 3/4 quarts of oil per 1000 miles and that is considered normal by Hyundai.Hyundai recommends changing oil every 7500 miles. This means we will need to add 6 quarts of oil to the car between oil changes. Again this car is under warranty and Hyundai calls this normal. We were told however, Hyundai does sell a $600 product we could add to the oil and perhaps it would consume less oil. The bottom line is I have a car under warranty, using 6 quarts of oil between oil changes and this is normal. My 2006 Chrysler Town and Country has 314,000 miles on it. I change the oil every 7000 miles. I add 1 quart of oil between oil changes.Simply put, do not buy a Hyundai product. Take a look on the internet and you will see a long history of engine issues that continue to plague Hyundai owners. I called Hyundai and talked to Lindsay. She was a snobby customer service rep. who told me I needed to talk to Walser to get anything done to repair this car. So goes the circle. Keep an eye open as I assume there will be another class action suite soon.

In February 2010, I bought a new 2010 Hyundai Elantra Touring from a RT.44 Hyundai dealership in Raynham, Massachusetts. I was very pleased with the vehicle, still am. Here is the issue: About a week ago, I came out to the Touring and noticed that the passenger side front bumper cover was just hanging on and was no longer attached to the fender. I looked to see why it wasnt attached and saw that the tab from the bumper cover that secures it to the fender on the inside had completely sheared off from the inside of the bumper cover. It was not broken, chipped, or cracked it was sheared completely off in a straight line the whole tab. I had an oil change scheduled the next day with RT.44 Hyundai. When I arrived, I informed my service adviser about the bumper problem.Later when I went to pick the vehicle up, I was informed by the service adviser that RT.44 Hyundai would not cover the replacement of the bumper cover due to the fact that the mechanic found two hairline scratches that never even broke through the clear coat on that side of the bumper cover. These scratches that I had never seen before where so small and light they look like it was made by a tree branch or something and would buff out with compound and a towel. There was no other damage around the surrounding area at all. This was the reason they stated why they would not cover it under the warranty. I then asked to speak to a service manager and brought him out to see the vehicle and showed him the bumper cover. When we walked out to the vehicle, it was drizzling rain and I showed him the cover and let him look it over. He never once mentioned even seeing any scratches around the area. He wasnt made aware of them until we went back inside and he brought my information up on his computer and saw what the mechanic had written. He then stated it would cost me in excess of $1,000 to have the bumper replaced. Im a single mother and do not have the financial resources to lay out that kind of money.I then sent an email to Consumer Affairs of Hyundai of America and was instructed by them to bring my vehicle to another Hyundai dealership for them to look at it. I brought the vehicle to another Hyundai dealer (the closest being 20 miles away). They put the vehicle on the lift and validated everything I was stating on a work order, that no damage was found to cause that bumper tab to snap off the way it did. So now with this in hand, I felt pretty good about my chances of getting the bumper cover replaced under warranty. I contacted Consumer Affairs again and told them of the outcome and that I had gotten a work order from that dealership confirming everything I was stating. The T2 supervisor from Consumer Affairs then told me I would have to go back to the dealership I purchased the vehicle from and rehash it out with them as she stated they had no authority to tell a dealership to honor the warranty. I had done everything they asked me to do at my expense just to have them tell me that I would have to argue with the original dealership over it again. I have kept all the emails correspondences with Consumer Affairs of Hyundai and the work order from the other dealership. So as of today, Im driving around with my front bumper cover held on by tape. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

In 2011 I purchased a Sante Fe with the in-car Navigation System. The day we drove the car off the lot the maps were out of date. I contacted the dealership and was told it would automatically update. Two years later, we asked again and were told we had to pay $200 to have the maps updated. Now, the car is 3-years-old and the navigation system is so bad it is dangerous. We dont even turn it on. For $200, we purchased a Garmin with free lifetime map updates. So we now drive a Sante Fe, with a built in navigation system, and a Garmin attached to the windshield. Friends are shocked at what we have had to do.Why is Hyundai doing this to their customers? I tried to speak to Hyundai Customer Connect System Lead Laura who gave me nothing but attitude. How outrageous to charge what you do for the system, then expect us to pay $200 each time it needs to be updated. Are you crazy??? Im done with Hyundai. Oh yea, did I mention that the Sante Fe was my third, and now last, Hyundai purchase.

It is a comfortable vehicle to drive with all the adjustments a driver can make to be not tired out on a trip. My wife and I took a trip from Western PA to the state of Washington and neither of us had aches and pains from the trip to and from either location home. We were very surprised at mileage we got on the trip. All in all we were so pleased with the car we ended up purchasing another. It feels like a luxury vehicle at a low price.

Hyundai is comfortable, has reasonable gas mileage, some luxury with leather seats and sun roof, rear window defroster and wiper, good stereo system, top carrier rack and cup holders in doors. It is also compact enough for one person, yet roomy enough for four people. It gets me anywhere and it has good consumer ratings. However, I wish there were more seat adjustments, air temperature control, heated seat temperature control, side mirror defrosters, different style of rear wiper so it doesnt get taken off in automatic car wash and heating system that doesnt blow warm air when fan is off. It also had some electronic issues early on that were covered under warranty. Rear wiper torn off in car wash twice. Must wash by hand.

There has been problems with the suspension on this 2007 Santa Fe since 2010 with very low mileage. It took 5 to 6 visits before the dealer would even admit a problem. Problems with tie rods, lower arm assembly, stabilizer links, lateral arms bilaterally with no resolution of clunking metal to metal sound from front of vehicle. Now that the car is out of warranty supposedly, the dealer conveniently finds the lower arm on the right needs replaced. Hyundai needs to admit to widespread suspension problems without dragging on until out of warranty. I still have 100,000 mile warranty with only 80,600 miles but supposedly, this is not a covered service even though it all started at 48,000 miles.

Hyundai Palisade vehicles (2020-21) have a defect with a windshield causing them to crack from minimal impact and sometimes no impact at all. There are many reports of this all over the web. Hyundai however is refusing any assistance to consumers and denying that there is any issue at all. My windshield cracked and had to be replaced when the car had just 500 and it didnt even get hit. It was a detail shop getting cleaned, etc.. Hyundai should step and start taking responsibility plus reimbursing owners who already needed to have their windshields replaced and also offer free replacements for OEM glass going forward for many reasons:1. Hyundai and Kia are related companies. Palisade and Telluride are related vehicles. Telluride has exactly same complaints regarding the windshield and Kia sent letters to all the owners saying this issue is being looked into and in the meantime offering free replacement and/or reimbursement if the windshield has to be replaced. Why isnt Hyundai doing the same?2. Almost every single complaint on the NHTSA website is about the windshield. There are over 85. This is not a coincidence! See: **3. I am sure you are also aware that there is a class action lawsuit about this same windshield issue. Again not a coincidence. There is a reason why there is a lawsuit.Hyundai should do the RIGHT thing just like KIA is doing and reimburse owners for windshield replacements especially when they are cracking WITHOUT even being hit by anything. That is a defect in your product!

Colonial Hyundai and Hyundai in general is one of the worst car companies I
Colonial Hyundai and Hyundai in general is one of the worst car companies I’ve ever dealt with. My Hyundai Tucson has been in the service department since March of 2021 to get the engine replaced on it and it STILL hasn’t been fixed! They gave me a downgrade of a rental car to drive and I was made to believe by the service worker (Kimberly) who is over my car that I would have my Tucson fixed in a couple weeks. Since then all I have gotten is nothing but LIES from her and the service department! They recently told me that it could take between the middle of July towards the beginning of August until my car is completed, which is utterly ridiculous! I’ve had 3 case managers since then trying to work on my behalf and they’ve checked for updates and somehow can’t really do anything to get my Tucson fixed any sooner. What’s even more disappointing is that Hyundai will not take full responsibility for their wrongdoing! I called to speak to the General Manager (Talal) of sales to discuss other options. I was suppose to meet with him last Saturday but had another obligation to come up and could not make it. I called to let him know and did not receive a call back. So I called again today so I could see when I could meet with him next but he wasn’t there. I left my contact information for him to call me back but I’ve noticed over time they will not call you back so you have to keep calling. As a customer, I’ve been treated like crap and as if my concerns don’t matter! They really could care less! Hyundai is an absolutely awful company!!!

My wife and I just purchased a 2013 Hyundai Azera in November 2013. Since then we have had numerous complaints with the vehicle in and out of the service department. Keep in mind the dealership is 90 miles one way and a rental vehicle was only offered one time to us out of the several trips we had to make. Let me start with noise up over the driver sun visor. The service department could never find and still to this day the noise can still be heard. Two of the wheels the clear coat started to come off. They did not want to replace the wheels and by stating that it was a product we must had used on them when washing the car. Needless to say I became very angry and we did receive two new wheels after the fact. The vehicle being 8 months old with 27,000 miles one of the tires are so worn and legally should not be on the road. The other three tires are worn but not worn as bad. Tires with 27,000 miles should have more tread on them. This vehicle gets serviced and tires rotated every 3,000 miles and all services have been scheduled at the dealership where we purchased the vehicle but one. The service department at the dealership is the worst we have ever had to come in contact with. You have two people telling you two different things regarding the tire tread. Alignment was good and was told we needed to contact Hankook the tire company and this was not a Hyundai problem. Hyundai is the one that contracted Hankook to put these tires on the car so I feel this is Hyundais problem. The chrome molding around the two back passenger windows is popping off. The dealership mentioned on the service print out that both moldings were loose but is only going to replace the driver side molding. I guess the passenger side molding will be another trip to the dealership before they will replace it instead of replacing them both at the same time. You can clearly see the passenger side molding loose too. Hyundai did everything in their power to sell us this vehicle with this wonderful 100,000 mile warranty but every time you have a problem you have to cause a scene and get angry before anyone wants to do anything. The tires is the biggest issue. This is a new vehicle and nothing is getting done about it. Is this how Hyundai treats their customers? I guess more complaints have to come forward or even deaths before Hyundai does anything about this major problem. If you are reading this just be aware of all the complaints listed and should reconsider purchasing a Hyundai. I wish we had done more research before we made our purchase.

I took my 2009 Santa Fe to our local dealer for a leak in the factory-installed sunroof. The first time, they supposedly made adjustments to tighten the window down. The second time, they said the seal was bad and they had to order a new sunroof window. My question was why they didnt find this the first time. The third, they replaced the window. Now, this one leaks worse than the original. This has happened all in the last 3 weeks. I have no faith in the dealer that is doing the work. But since it is still in factory warranty, I am stuck. We have had nothing but trouble with this vehicle since we have purchased it. But we are stuck with this lemon for a little while longer.

Out of the last 5 years I have owned my Hyundai I have had 4 door handles break and latches on inside to visor mirror & center console break within the first year of owning the vehicle. And I dont have children and never use these doors! It seems these are very cheaply made causing a huge inconvenience! 2 door handles repaired in the past 3 years and now 2 more are broke the same way this last year that have not been repaired. This has become very pricey and unnecessary to have to maintain to have working door handles. I have owned many cars in my life and never had this problem! Why arent these considered recalls??? I feel I should not have to continue to pay for the replacements of the handles and latches! I would like Hyundai to be responsible to repairing these items as they are currently not in working condition! Sincerely, Frustrated Hyundai owner.

I would like to tell you about the service I received Hyundai in Downingtown, PA. I recently took my 2013 Hyundai Tucson for an oil change and state inspection which I was impress of how quickly it was taken care of. They provided great service and I was happy to return for more service. Due to a poor wheel alignment the service department had recommended that I replace my rear driver tire so that my car can pass inspection. When I left the dealership I heard a loud noise from the back tires. At first I thought it was from a wheel alignment that they recommended I needed. During the week, I notice the noise getting much louder to the point where I felt it was unsafe to drive. I went online to see if there was an appointment available but there wasnt so I decided to go to my local Firestone to get a second opinion. I described the noise and how a wheel alignment was recommended. During their inspection, they discovered that my new tire that was replaced by Hyundai was extremely loose and only hand tighten. I am so disappointed because I really thought I received great service especially being the end of the day but instead my life was at risk. I seen it for myself how the lugs were only hand tighten and the wheel shook by touch. This is my second Hyundai vehicle and second Hyundai dealership that Ive dealt with and I was never disappointed until now. I was able to speak to the service manager which he kindly took the time to see the vehicle. In return of risking my life he offered a complimentary oil change and to speak with the mechanic who worked on my vehicle because apparently thats what my life is worth. I will never trust the service of Hyundai again. I can only hope they will learn from this situation so that other customers will not be at risk.

Hi, just wanted to share with experience Ive had with Hyundai. I have encountered several issues with my Equus, both with the 2011 and the 2014 models. With the 2011, it was serviced a multitude of times, concluding with the installment of a new compressor. However, the cooling (or lack thereof) issue still remained. When that lease ended, I was assured that the A/C issues with the Equus had been rectified. In good faith, I leased a new 2014 Equus, and much to my dismay, the A/C issues were NOT resolved! So, here I am, AGAIN, in the same exact predicament! Hyundai insists on continuing to deny this problem exists and continues to market inferior products. Any consumer can read the blogs on the internet and clearly see that there is a definite A/C problem with the Hyundai models, including the Equus! Hyundai is lessening their credibility in continuing to deny this issue exists! Hyundai needs to step up to the plate and stop denying that they do not have an A/C problem with this vehicle. They MUST do the right thing. Otherwise, their reputation will be at stake. Recurring customers like me will no longer return, and unfortunately for Hyundai, we will tell others about the poor service and callous treatment we received and of our negative experience.

Within an hour I realised the clutch was faulty as it had to be pushed to the floor before you could select a gear. I returned it to the garage within an hour. The head of sales said yes, there is a fault on the clutches. We can do a temporary fix until Hyundai release the relevant parts to rectify the fault. What beats me why sell a car, knowing it has a defective clutch. I know I can return the car and get my money back but I have been assured by Hyundai UK. I am on my 4th consecutive Hyundai, and for the most part find them to be good value. BlueLink, on the other hand has changed my opinion of Hyundai. I paid over $3K extra for a package with push button start so I could take advantage of the remote start feature. Its ridiculous that I have to pay $200/year to use this. I would actually be much better off to pay to have a remote car starter installed. Id do this if I hadnt paid so much for the push button start feature. Ive tried calling Hyundai to see if they could offer any sort of promotional rate, especially considering that now new owners get 3 free years of BlueLink. I tried calling BlueLink customer service on several occasions and hung up after being on hold for over 30 min each. Watch out for the hidden disposition fee Hyundai Finance charges at the end
Watch out for the hidden disposition fee Hyundai Finance charges at the end of a lease if you return the car to a dealer. I leased a new 2011 Elantra and their dealer never mentioned about the disposition fee. When I returned it in June this year, a month later I got a letter from Hyundai Finance charging me $400 + $4.06 taxes. Given the car was in A1 condition (as per the lease end inspection report) and had only 21k miles on it, youd think they could waive the fee. They do waive the fee if you buy it or re-lease a new car, so why not with a low mileage, A1 condition car. After all, the disposition fee is supposed to cover the dealers expense in preparing the car for resale. What expense was there in preparation on my ex-lease car? Zero to none! Ive asked Hyundai exactly that in a written letter. To date no reply. All they want is the disposition fee. All you hear from them is its in the contract like a broken record. Its the last time I ever lease a car, especially from Hyundai. Stay away from them.

Since owning my 2013 Hyundai Sonata, I have had a number of recalls (or as the company likes to call them, ‘campaigns’). The most recent includes FOUR recalls. I took time off of work to get the recalls addressed, and yet, I still keep receiving notices that I need to take the car back in for the same recalls that I got taken care of. When you call customer service all you get is the run around or told that you are being “hostile” when they question you about where the emails are coming from and you tell them you have full command of the English language or “talking over them”. I still can’t use my phone’s bluetooth as the company never updated their system with the newer phones. My navigation system doesn’t know half of the addresses I put in, and the car only has 44,000 miles in 6 years. In addition, I constantly have to put air in my right front tire, regardless of the weather. Now I have to go back because the dealer disengaged the heated seats so I can’t even trade it in until they fix their mistake, and that was after the dealer tried telling me that the recalls had nothing to do with the heated seats (which they then had to reverse course on as the tech had to disconnect the heated seat wires to put the airbag harness on). Hyundai claims in their ads that they make ‘better’ cars. Better for who? Because it DEFINITELY isn’t better or safer for the consumer. I feel that is a misrepresentation of the truth. Save yourself and your wallet! Don’t even look bother. There are other more reputable companies from which to choose from. Honestly, I think the federal government needs to look into the safety of Hyundai’s vehicles.

I bought a 2016 Elantra GT right off the lot. I was so proud. My first brand new car. It did great until it reached about 12,000 miles. Then it decided to quit starting. I had it towed to the dealership. The service department was helpful... at first. They did change something with the start button and I picked the car back up. One day later, same thing. Couldnt get it out of my driveway. This started happening June 13, 2016. Since then my car has been in the shop non-stop, except for the 4 times I picked it up and became stranded at various places because it wouldnt start. I went through the BBB as required by Hyundai. The BBB determined that the car needed to be repurchased or traded for the same model. Hyundai offered to repurchase the car in August. I completed all the paperwork requested... every... single... time. The repurchase was supposed to be completed today October 21, 2016.I have called and called every number for Hyundai--no one can help me. My case manager, Kris **, is always out of the office and has called me once. No e-mail, nothing. I have had to rent a car out of pocket for the last 3 weeks, maxing credit cards and cancelling trips with my family. I have never felt so devalued in my life. I dont think Hyundai understands that even though my payment was small to them, not having a reliable car has caused a huge amount of stress for me and so much hardship on my family. As a single mom of two great boys, we have had to cancel trips and reroute funds for the rental car. I am a teacher and have to get to work. The Hyundai headlights do no illuminate higher than 4-5 feet on level ground. Most street name signs are 6-8 feet high and cannot be seen at night. The problem is caused by the top of the light being blocked by the hood/fender overlap. High beams do work better but not by much and are dangerous to oncoming traffic. The service people say it is by design and cannot be changed. One mechanic said to add another set of lights. Why not just alter the headlight insert itself to alter the light pattern and be easy to replace the original? I am not able to see street names at night, and there is no help offered by Hyundai. I am sure I am not alone. Some of your people (much younger than me or my wife) have the same complaint. Do some elementary engineering to resolve this dangerous situation.

It is a common experience for the visors to fall around 60,000 miles on Hyundai Accents. I found 22 complaints on the internet right away, without delving very deeply. The driver visor fell on my head while driving, so I couldnt see for about 15 seconds. This is very dangerous. It also hurt my head. Had to hold the visor up until I got home. Then had to cut it off. The passenger visor fell a few months later. Called customer service and they kept telling me a case manager would call me. He was supposed to call within 3-5 business days. He didnt call for 25 days, until I kept calling and wrote a customer complaint on the Hyundai site. Even though this is quite a common issue... and a safety issue that is happening to many people, I was told that Hyundai wont do anything to help with the costs. It costs $300 to get both visors fixed.

Their cars will leave you on the side of the road one day with no help. If they promise something get it in writing. If they recall something it will go to banks mailbox not yours so you have to check recalls yourself. They tell you when you buy a vehicle they if they need to fix it they will give you a loaner vehicle when its broke down. No loaner is given with extended warranty. They find a way to avoid it. They say they reimburse you for rental vehicles. They dont even have a department that reimburses you. Get everything in writing. I can tell you right now every 5k miles alignment was off. My shocks struts only lasted 20k. Replaced 3 times now. Tires wearing wrong since owned. The vehicle dealer alignment doesnt fix it unless you get alignment every 2 oil changes. Air intake funnel before the filter isnt really attached. Just sits there in front of snorkel transmission.Shifts rough when its cold. Their tint they offer always bubbles. The air conditioning smells like mildew shortly after you drive off the lot and every 5k miles after they fix it. Not sure how they fix it but comes right back. The gas mileage they state only lasts 10k miles. After that its about 5 to 10 less even with recommended tire inflation. The paint is horrible. Chips and flakes at 30k. Wiper blades need replacing. Right when you buy the vehicle motors are noisy of the lot and only get worse. The hybrid battery needs replacing at 60k and depending on how often you drive it voids your warranty and if you dont keep more than 30 miles of gas in your car at all times it voids warranty. The first day I drove off the lot my back passenger door lock started buzzing really loud every time I went from park to drive or lock the doors and they had to order the part. Took 2 weeks to get it fixed from day I took it in. Inside cabin is super noisy of outside traffic noise and tires when getting up to freeway speeds. I should have took a test drive on freeway because that would have been a deal breaker. Thats about it. Cant wait to get out of this vehicle. 5 recalls in the first year feel like this car is always at the dealership service department.

Bought new Veloster 2012 March 2015 with 9,237 miles clutch when I was told not covered due to the 12,000/12 month warranty. I stated should be covered by Hyundai Assurance 5 year/50,000. They agreed and then later said service was misinformed and never should have agreed to it being covered. Went back to the 12,000/12 month warranty. I argued and a final decision was it was covered by the 5 year/50,000 warranty but OUTSIDE causes is the reason the clutch/flywheel/disc failed. Not Hyundai....I asked what was OUTSIDE cause.......no response from Hyundai. Once you buy the car they determine what their warranty covers and it seems to me that Hyundai always comes up the beneficiary.

After purchasing a 2011 Sonata, I went back within a week with a steering problem - pulls to left at highway speeds. I left the car with them; the car still pulls to the left. I consider this a safety issue since more effort is required to keep the car tracking straight. Hyundai Motor Corporation is extremely uncooperative also, hoping that I would just give up through frustration.

On January 8, 2012, I leased a 2012 Sonata. Today is January 21, 2012, the car has 460 miles on the odometer. Today is also the first snow day of the season. At 5 oclock this morning, while traveling approximately 20-25 mph on level ground, I was approaching a red light. The brakes locked and the car started sliding. I tried pumping them but kept sliding.Luckily there was no one in front of me. I released the brake while. sliding into the intersection so I could have more control of the vehicle, turning the corner to avoid incoming traffic. Ive been driving for 39 years, since I was 18 years old. I was not speeding. (To be continued, after a visit with service dept. at South Shore Hyundai / Valley Stream, NY)

Your roadside assistance is horrific.. I had a flat tire. Could not inflate with your inflate a tire. The tire was tore up because you didnt have spare. Had to call roadside. They never showed up. This was Sunday 2/22/15. I was told they could not tow me to dealership until the following day. If I would have left my car on road it would have been towed per state trooper.. Thank goodness for the kindness of the trooper in Glen Allen, VA. He took my son to merchant tire, dropped him off. His girlfriend had to stay with car and the trooper checked on her. I could not get to the car soon enough and the trooper came back and picked my son up and took him back to care. Thank you so much trooper for your care and concern for my young son and his girlfriend stuck on the side of the road. I have also been on hold for 45 minutes waiting to get thru to Hyundai roadside, no answer yet. So much for your care and concern and this will be reported to 12 news on your side... The customer service rep was very hateful when we got thru the first time, said could not tow to dealership after hours. Bla, bla, bla. Thanks Hyundai for your help. I will be trading my car for another make and model. Goodbye.

I had a terrible experience with Hyundai following an accident that occurred due to their negligence and they are not taking any responsibility. I went to pick up my car from the Hyundai service centre. My car was left parked in reverse no Ebreak (manual transmission). I clutched in to start the car, being used to park in neutral I clutched out to go scrape my windows while the car warmed, but my car flew backwards and smashed into a new car on the lot. They will not take any responsibility for their negligence and were incredibly rude. I will never ever buy a Hyundai again.

We have a 2012 Hyundai Sonata Limited with 30000 kms on it and it has been at the dealership in Fredericton, NB for 7 weeks now waiting for a wiring harness which was diagnosed after replacing the computer and fuel pump. The engine light continues to come on time after time. The wiring harness arrived this week after 7 weeks only to discover Hyundai sent the wrong one after being hand made in Korea. Now they tell me they have another one coming from Alabama, amazing how that got there. On top of this problem, since we bought the car new, we have had constant steering problems with the car which cant seem to be fixed, along with the alternator pulsating and the battery going dead. After contacting Hyundai Canada several times, I keep getting the run around and they will not put me in contact with someone that has some decision making power. This car is unsafe to be on the road as it self accelerates when the engine light is on.

2013 Tucson GLS 2.4L • Automatic transmission *Hyundai believes 108,000 miles is normal for a motor to seize. That is what Reggie a representative at Hyundai told me. 3/14/2019. In February of 2018 I purchased my 2013 Tucson. My sister was on the highway, driving highway speed, when suddenly the vehicle just lost power completely. She was able to roll to the shoulder safely, but only because it was a light traffic time of the day. Any other time, it wouldve been trouble. She called me right away. I told her not to start it till we got there, when we got there (Tow Truck already en route) there was absolutely no life whatsoever in the engine. The electronics were barely working, but the engine was not responsive.I had the vehicle towed to a shop, to which they told me the following day that the engine was seized, they explained that the oil pump had stopped working. They even took pictures and sent them to me of the piston and the lower motor blown out. How could this be since it only has 108,000 Miles, and I kept up with the scheduled oil and filter changes! Hyundai says this is not unusual! The warranty is only honored if youre the original owner, and I was not. I would never buy or deal with a Hyundai ever again as long as Im alive, and this inconvenience has cost me time, travel inconveniences, stress, and of course...money, not only do I STILL OWE OVER $8,000.00 ON IT, I can not get to work till its fixed. The Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sportage, and Kia Sorento have been reported as having these same issues, but the Tucson absolutely needs to be included, because theyre using the same engine (components) in this model year.

I was notified after I bought the car that all they give you is a can of spare tire. They do not even have a spare tire kit that you can buy until the end of this summer. The only thing I can buy is a new rim that fits and costs anywhere from $377.00 to $477.00, and thats without the tire. I drive a handicapped person, and this is very unacceptable, especially if something happens that cannot be fixed by spraying spare tire into it. Like I said, I was not told when I bought this car that there was no spare; or I would not have purchased it. I have dealt with Consumer Affairs at Hyundai and got no satisfaction whatsoever. I mentioned that if I was told there was no spare and I would not buy the car for that reason, they would have gone out of their way to give me one. This is very frustrating, since I cant even purchase one because there is no kit designed. I have already taken all their surveys before this was brought to my attention. But I would have told them what I really feel, if I had known. They seem to care, until you have an issue.

Id like to bring to your attention a series of events that reflect a negative attitude and disrespect towards customer of Hyundai Motor Finance by the employees of HMF. In September 2012, I financed a vehicle through Hyundai Motor Finance. For reasons beyond my control, I have been past due on my $550 monthly payment since last November. I have, however, made every attempt to make sure my payment was received before the 30 days late to ensure I dont receive a negative credit history. I made my last payment on April 27, 2013 26 days late. However, HMF placed my account at over 30 days past due which I know will reflect negatively on my credit.I have now accumulated several late fees, and I understand that. My biggest complaint is the approx. 10-12 harassing phone calls I get, sometimes on a daily basis! Customer service employees, as well as their supervisors, seem to be oblivious to what the customer is telling them. They are rude, disrespectful, and completely inattentive to customers trying to work through difficult times. I am positive that the number of consumer complaints towards Hyundai Motor Finance is already hurting Hyundais business model. I had such a wonderful experience with the salesman and dealership I purchase my car from; its just a shame that relationship is being destroyed by the finance division of your company. Somebody do something to correct this awful experience!

I own a 2013 Hyundai Veloster, first new car Ive ever purchased. My vehicle roof corroding due to poor manufacturing. Long story short Ive done the whole process for approval with the dealer (Ron **) and Hyundai claims the corrosion coverage is only 3/36. This is not what my owners manual says. It states 7/unlimited miles. Ive contacted Hyundai so-called customer care on now 5 different occasions. NONE of the people I have spoke with have ever contacted me back with resolution. The customer care line is a huge waste of time. No one there is capable of answering any question. They dont know their own manufacturers policy and procedures. It is appalling that Hyundai even claims them as customer care. Furthermore my 3-year-old vehicle should not have a roof that is corroding. Its super frustrating to be told that you cannot talk to anyone who can help. All I wanted was the time of day and someone to assist me with my concern. Instead I got the runaround for a month. A huge headache, super frustrated, no call back from anyone ever, and worst of all no answers. Do not buy any Hyundai product as they do not honor or even know their warranty policy. I will be heard on this concern as no one deserves to be treated like this.

I even wouldnt like to imagine what would happen if this problem would occur on the highway. Hyundai Turkey is behaving premature to handle the case. In this century I am not able to understand why the required part can not be delivered within 30 days while there are people touring around the world with bicycles or on foot less than 30 days. All Goethe’s they charge me 383.12 dollars for only changing the fuel cap which was the real issue and they milked it by keeping me waiting for more than two hours. I realized they did not change the packing fuel pump because they never asked me for the special key to remove one of the lug nuts to my tire where the gas cap is located. They ripped me off, and I realized this when I got home and said “How come they didn’t ask for the key to remove the special lug nut?” How can I get my money back on this issue? I do not understand, and I will try to summarize my experience so as to save everyone the grief of reading an extensive unpleasant experience. In short, I have leased with Hyundai since I was 20 years old. I am 24 now, and this car (so am on my second lease now) is one of the biggest regret of my young adult life. For my previous leased vehicle, I was hit with a bill of nearly 5,000 dollar, which a very big chunk of that money did not apply to my actual balance since I continued to lease with them. After the proper deductions, my bill went down to about 3,600. That is fine, except that each time I called to have a number confirmed, I received a different quote. I once called literally sobbing because I had no idea what to do, in which I was “helped” by a woman that talked over me the whole time, was terrible at explaining anything to me, and told me I could “get a second job” to try to pay for my balance. Okay. I paid the money and received a voicemail (not very clear to make out what it said) saying something about my balance. I called back to try to get back to that person, had their extension and everything to confirm that they received my payment, and literally spent 20 mins on the phone with someone, intermittently getting put on hold, only to be told they could not find the extension or the balance I was speaking of. I finally have let it go and assumed that they received my payment. This is the gist of that experience. Today, I called because I am having trouble with the radio playing over the music I am streaming, so I called to get help. The lady on the phone said “we don’t help with that, I can give a number of you have anything to write down” and I said that I was driving, asked if I could get forwarded to the proper place. So she forwarded my call, and a lady answered and I could not hear or understand her at all. Finally, she spoke closer and I could hear her louder but still not well. I explained my problem, she said “yeah we don’t help with that” so I told her I was forwarded and didn’t know what to do. She literally said “thank you have a nice day” and hung up. HUNG UP. I was mid sentence and baffled and honestly, I am starting to figure things out on my own whenever I have a problem with my Hyundai vehicle, because customer service has been so incredibly unhelpful, rude, and appalling to interact with, honestly. It’s so shameful, and I am not sure if this is normal? Do other vehicle companies do this to their customers? I am planning to purchase my current vehicle so I will be with Hyundai for a long time, which sincerely fills me with dread and I am starting to feel resentful. This has been a terrible experience since the start, and I don’t call anymore to spare myself the stress of interacting with these people. I don’t even have the words. Just absolutely terrible.

07 Santa Fe problems after 60,000 miles. Oh, where to start? Well, even before the 60,000 mile mark, we were wearing out a second set of tires (3rd set came around 66K). After 60K, both front ball joints needed replacing along with steering arm (front left). Then a host of electrical problems. March 2012 had alternator and battery replaced. Check engine light has been on continuously for over a year. Dealership scanned, no codes. Ignored light ever since. Now, alternator failed again. Returned to shop where previous alternator was installed, thinking that was the problem. Nope. Oil leaked from valve cover gasket onto alternator, shorting it out. Well, I already had it towed from point where it died to this shop, not going to have it towed again for $85 or so to nearest Hyundai dealer, who may or may not conclude that the gasket replacement is a warranty item (79,000 miles and I am original owner). Hyundai customer service is not helping. Usual corporate gibberish e-mails and saying that warranty claims must be handled through a dealer, which I agree with. My contention is that the 3.3 liter V6 engine has a ton of consumer complaints regarding this gasket leakage issue and that Hyundai shouldve issued a recall notice. But its a costly repair as far as labor, so chumps like me are stuck with the bill unless a dealer wants to submit a claim. I worked for a Hyundai tier 1 supplier in Alabama in 2005 and it was true then, keeping costs down was priority one. I am convinced Hyundai uses parts thatll last just long enough to make 60K miles, then consumers are on their own. Cant believe I traded an Accord (high mileage with no issues whatsoever) for a Sonata (our other car). Gonna get rid of the Sonata before 60K for sure. My advice, if buying a Hyundai, get an extended warranty too (I did not), but go over the fine print and see what it covers.

I recently upgraded my car to 2012 (July 2012 model) the car had 35,000 miles, on clock now 40,000. After the first major service at approx 39,000 miles I found some difficulty in changing from 3rd gear up and sometimes changing down. Went to local dealer who had car for a day, stated car needed further checking. Felt gear box problems, but needed to strip down first and get permission from Hyundai to same under warranty. However the following day I was informed there were signs of wear on clutch and flywheel also need changing due to heat damage, also that repairs not covered by warranty. When I questioned further I was told same was caused by driver and repairs would cost 900 euro plus vat. I refused and told them to put car back together. I was charged 273 euro for same. In my opinion the guarantee is a joke. I have been driving for over 38 years and never caused damage to a clutch. My husband contacted the Irish head office and found them very unhelpful and bordering on rude. My advice to anybody thinking of changing to Hyundai is think again. Stay clear and save yourself a lot of trouble. Buyer beware.

I bought my 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT based on the reputation, look of the car and the estimated mileage. I had previously owned an all wheel drive car - the handling of which was fabulous but was unhappy with the mileage (20 city/25 highway). The Elantras estimated 27/37 mpg was worth giving up excellent handling. Initially my mileage was 23/28 with the Hyundai and so I waited a few months thinking the car needed to be broken in. Now, a year later, I am still only getting approximately 24mpg in the city and 29mpg on the highway. I complained to the service department in September and they agreed to test the mileage.Heres what happened at the test: I topped off the tank 1/4 mile from the dealer and delivered a filled-to-capacity tank. They then drove the car 40 miles and then refilled the tank with 1.089 gallons determining that my car gets 36.73 miles per gallon. Knowing that was impossible, I drove immediately to the same filling station and put an additional .615 gallons in the tank, topping it off. Obviously, their idea of topping it off and mine were very different. With the additional .615 gallons, the mileage would have been determined correctly at 23.52 which was just about what I have been getting. When I called and asked them about it, they couldnt understand my point and stood by their test. I contacted Hyundai Consumer Affairs who spoke to the dealership and determined that there was no more they could do at that point unless I wanted pay for a test at another dealership. I was unwilling to do that if the first test had already proven to MY satisfaction that the mileage I had been getting all along was all I was going to get and another dealer, when contacted, said they would just take the mileage reading from the cars gauge to determine mpg. The gauge always shows 2-3 mpg better than what I actually get and is still nowhere need their estimated 27/37. I knew Hyundai had been fined for overestimating mpg in the past and in fact have a program of reimbursement because so many people have complained about the misrepresentation of mpg so I actually thought that meant I could trust their estimated mpg because they would not want to be found lacking in that area again. However, that is clearly not the case. At this point I feel I have no recourse except to register my complaint and hope something can be done to my satisfaction.

I was driving to work when my 2014 Elantra with 72,000 miles made a knocking sound and stalled in middle of the road. I had to have it towed to a local station whom assessed and informed me the engine failed and based on how clean the engine appeared he couldnt imagine what happened to this engine. I then had car towed to Hyundai due to I have a contract for 100,000 miles on engine. After they evaluated the vehicle, they DENIED me and refused to cover the engine repair under their PROMOTED, ADVERTISED AND PROMISED 100,000 mile warranty. So after 4 years of paying on this car, I am STILL making monthly payments for this car. Hyundai refused to stand by their commitment to repair the engine!!!

I just like to have a horrible nightmare story with my Hyundai Sonata 2005 in last 2 years. I desperately need your legal helps, suggestions and comments. On 02/22/2012, My Sonata 2005 just past 70,914 Miles and I was suggested by young guy name ** to change my Timing Belt and etc. I spent $967.43 to let Lehigh Valley, PA Hyundai Service Center done the job. At that point, my car just have a tire issue. After 2 weeks, I hear some noise when I first time start car. I called **. He told me because it’s new belt and Id better to tolerant it. At April, I still hear noise and little bit loud. I call them again. They let me left the car with them several days. They wrote it down as they cant find any problem and adjust timing belt little. They sold me about annual State Inspection package this time. After that, I changed Spark Plug and Engine Oil with top line product myself in the same year. I always use Hyundai Genuine Oil and Air Filters once day one and do this maintenance job myself when I purchased the car as brand new one. I tolerant this problem several months and called them again. They still tell me the same answer. I was so busy for my job and life. I cant always let them keep my car for several days to find nothing. On 04/08/2013 at 88,055 miles, I hear a belt broken sound while I am driving on I-78 and engine is completely shut down. I called them ask for road assistant and was told to paid for towing or solve myself. I managed myself to get their place. They told me that I have to pay myself for the repairs. After several days, they called and informed me that they found the engine was broken. They will cover for these repairs. In last year, I already talk to totally different Manager and Service Reps. They also told me that they had difficult to find replace engine. Until 05/01/2013, I was called for the job done.I changed engine oil with Hyundai Genuine Oil Filter and 5 Gallon Castrol High Mileage 10W40 myself last summer. And I wish I can keep this car for another 5 years. However, I notice in Nov. the oil check light sometimes flashing in an barely occasion while I drive on highway ramp and stop at traffic. Im NOT pay too much attention about this issue. I know if I call them, they will keep my car for several days and find nothing. Thats about their service and skills.Last month of 8th, I try to pull my car from heavy snow in dark evening and the car start as normal and was NOT working after several times back and forth to pull out. With several light on, I can start the car at all. I give up my efforts to drive car out in that evening. I called my job off in second morning and try to start it again. It was OK and out of from the snow. I immediately drive to LV Hyundai Service Center and notice that the engine check light is solid ON while I stop at traffic. They call me afternoon and tell me they cant find any engine oil in my car and the engine is broken again and ask me about engine oil and filter purchase receipts. I usually dont keep these small purchase receipt for my normal life. However, I can show them my a couple of old replacement Hyundai Genuine Oil Filters in my garage. I bring two used filter and one air filter. I argue with them NO CAR should running under engine oil while my gas tank is 80% full. Your engine has a big design defect. You should repair or replace it again under your all your warranty claims and consumer protection laws. I talk to them back and forth several time already. They still refuse to do so. I dont have my car for more than one month. Please help me if you all can. Thank you very much in advance.

After an engine recall of our Sonata, we had to use our own money to rent a car to replace the car for over 90 days. We have been promised our $800 plus many times but every time we call to inquire where money is, we are getting the run around that corporate needs more doc??? Total crooks who have made our experience so bitter, that would never recommend buying or dealing with low life company.

I purchased a 2011 Hyundai i20 in May this year. Ever since I purchased the car, I had to send the car back in to Hyundai after a week to get a new clutch master cylinder. A month after, I took the car into Hyundai as the accelerator on the car was getting stuck and jolty (not normal or safe). Hyundai replaced this for me. But after 2 months, the problems started again. I took the car back to Hyundai. I advised them of the occurring problems with the car and Hyundai just lubricated the accelerator. While Hyundai had my car, I took the time to re-test drive another Hyundai i2o from the dealership in Roseville. I explained to the dealership the problems I have with my car. When we took this other Hyundai i20 for a drive, I straight away noticed that the drive of the car was better and smoother. Plus, the whole clutch and accelerator on this car was perfect. When I called the Hyundai head office to advise them of all the problems I have had with my car and the massive difference I felt in the drive of the test drive car, Hyundai advised that they couldn’t do anything about my car. But they told me to keep sending it back to Hyundai each time the same problem occurs. This is not good enough answer. I don’t feel safe driving a car that keeps having the same problems over and over again. I think Hyundai should be replacing my car or should refund me the cost of the car. I would buy a car through a different car company that is reliable. I never expected to have a brand new car with this much problems. Now my car is making tapping noises from the motor. I don’t know what else to do. This car is stressing me out. I can’t keep sending this car back each time this happens. My previous 1979 Chrysler Sigma, which is 31 years old, never had problem like this. The only thing I ever had to replace on that car was a set of brake pads. Please help me. Thanks.

I have a 2010 Hyundai Entourage. I purchased this vehicle thinking it would be a reliable vehicle in July 2017. It had only 125,000 kms and was in great condition. So far I havent been exactly thrilled with reliability. But my impression changed today when I went into Hyundai dealership to order new a/c-heater control panel since my button for fan speed has broken. I was told there was one available but at a stupendous price of $900.00. I pretty gagged when they told me this. I was expecting $200.00-$300.00 which is till expensive but at least tolerable. After this experience, I will never buy another Hyundai vehicle because replacement parts are sold at a totally rip off price. $900.00 for a piece of electronic that simply controls heat and fan speeds. It doesnt even have automatic temperature control on this unit.

I had good credit and went to buy a Hyundai Elantra because I was in need of a good car, but when I applied for the credit, the guy helping me took advantage of my need. First he came to me with a 10% interest. When I agreed, he went back to his boss. Few minutes later, he came back telling me that my interest was little higher to 12%. I really needed the car so I agreed, but he went back. To make it short, I ended up paying 16% because I told him I would not pay more. I think they ripped me off because of my need and lack of experience dealing with this kind of people who take advantage of you. So if you need a car, dont go with Hyundai or at least dont use their credit and go with somebody with experience.

My 2006 Hyundai Elantra gave out suddenly with no warning light/sign on my way from Atlanta, GA to Nashville, TN. The radiator had bursted, blowing out all the stored coolant, and caused some engine damage. The car have been lightly driven with only 34K mileage and engine was clearly under Hyundais 10-yr warranty. We had it towed 100 mileages to the nearest dealership. However, Hyundai corporate has flat out denied our engine warranty claim because the radiator was out of warranty and that we had done our maintenance at a local NTB instead of their dealership. In other words, their 10-yr warranty is just a big fat lie because their claimed defect component contains nothing but the engine itself, which almost never gives out at its own. It is unbelievable an engine could give out at such early mileage. They also broke a federal rule and denied my claim just because I had my service done at another service shop. The entire process was full of bad customer service. My family and I were constantly hang up on that we have to rotate the calling. Representatives were rude and apathetic toward our situation. This is honestly the worst company we had to deal with out of my life!

Hyundai Motor Finance are the worst group of customer relations. They dont care about the customers. I leased a vehicle from them, turned it in early, paid the car off. They auctioned the car and sent me a remaining balance, which should not have been calculated. They revised the amount and was supposed to send me a new balance. Ive been calling and kept note of everyone spoken to, begging for the balance due to make payment, since November 2016. Its now April 2016. I was told I had a lower balance than what was originally calculated. I paid it and was told by a manager Ruth and other workers, Tiffany and others that the account is settled and will show paid in full, and the credit bureau will be notified of the closed account.A week has passed and I called to check in on my account and was told that I had a past due balance of the same amount (WHAT ARE THESE PEOPLE UP TO?). It still show on my credit that this account is past due. Ive lost over 100 pts on my credit score because of their false report. When I was making the monthly payments, updates were quick. Now that I want out, its like they dont want to let you go. The managers and workers in-between are all the same - they make promises to take care of the situation, have managers call you back etc, and they do nothing about it. No one calls back. Nothing happens. This account is paid in full to date. The car was auctioned off and its final - all I want from them is to close my account and update my credit that the account is paid and closed. PLEASE HYUNDAI, its been 6 months of calling you. Not getting anywhere with all the staff you employ. I want to move on with my life. I want nothing to do with Hyundai Motor Finance. I will never lease another vehicle from your company. This experience has been torture for me. I been an excellent paying customer. WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?? Please close my account.

Hyundai Elantra GLS - I purchased a Hyundai that nearly killed me because of its cracked fuel tank. I had severe gasoline poisoning and the damage is permanent. They had a recall on the product. I was told by Hyundai America that I needed to sue the manufacturer in Korea. I have never come across such a group of liars in my life. They did not come to the table. They tried to have the fuel tank not admissible in court and they never stopped lying. They even had the dealership I purchased the car from (Pitre) declared as not in the business of selling cars. I am now unemployed and unable to work, and the public is paying for me.

I have two Sonata 2015, which I have taken in for recalls and both days which has taken a total of five hours and ticking, and I was not impressed with how you come in for these services and you are not forewarned of the waiting time and, they keep bringing you a problem that you say no way. I havent had this car two years yet. I had work done on one of them on yesterday and by the afternoon, it was running okay before I took it in. Now the front end is shaking. Thinking of taking it to another dealer, and see what they say, and trading it. Too many problems for a car not owned two years yet and hours to fix and no replacement in doing it.

If you have a Hyundai do yourself a favor and give it the hell back. Hyundai motor finance is by far the WORST company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with in my life. Their customer service is horrible, their supervisors are a bunch of rude and condescending jerks and the company as a whole is crap. If they did their jobs at all and gave a damn about their customers maybe their ratings wouldnt be so bad. I lease a car through Hyundai, last Friday I was pulled over and given a ticket (luckily my car wasnt impounded!) because my registration was expired 2 months! Hyundai never sent me the paperwork to renew it so I had no idea it was even expiring. I called them, they told me it was my problem and my responsibility. What?! The car is leased to HYUNDAI! I cant walk into a DMV and ask to register a car that isnt mine without the damn paperwork. Hyundai told me that they never got the paperwork from the dmv... Ok... So your company doesnt look into it. No, we dont do that. Thats the response I got. Basically Hyundai believes they are not responsible for anything. So screw me right? Screw the customer... I pay almost $400 for this car a month and I havent been able to drive it since last Friday! I told Hyundai they should be responsible for paying the ticket I got because it could have easily been avoided if they did their jobs properly and provided the customer with the paperwork. I was told Im responsible for it and its in my lease. Well people of hmfusa my lease also says (Unless the interest or penalties are a result of our negligence). So since Hyundai mysteriously never received the paperwork from the DMV they dont look into it, thats basically telling me as a customer to go screw myself. P.S. I called NJMVC, they sent Hyundai my paperwork. This company gives 0 compassion to its customers that spend all this money and when the customer has an issue we receive no help on fixing it. Friday I was told they dont know why I never got the registration form and that they would send me paperwork priority so I could go to the DMV and fix it. Monday I checked the mail and still nothing. I called them again and the lady told me it was just sent that morning. What?? Ok, now its Wednesday, I STILL have nothing. Called again and the lady told me yet again it was sent out and now I SHOULD have it by the end of the week. What happened to priority? The request is priority but the mail is regular shipping. Why the hell is it sent regular mail if you can see its something I need asap. In order to send overnight we need the customers FedEx account. What?! What normal person has a damn FedEx account? That is the most bs excuse Ive ever been told. Go to USPS, ask to overnight it and bam. We dont do that. HMFUSA DOES NOTHING! This company can be run by ferrets and function better. Customer service is 0 and the company could care less about its customers. Never again will I get a Hyundai. Ive never had a worse experience in my life with a car company. How do they expect people to get to work, go to the grocery store. God forbid I have a medical emergency. Oh well, I cant drive the car. This company is such dirt and could care less about its customers. I have had no answers except the same garbage over and over again, Its on its way, were sorry for the inconvenience, we dont do that, we dont do this blah blah blah. This multi billion dollar company cant spare to pay the cost to overnight a limited power of attorney to a customer so they can get their problem fixed. Nope, screw the customers! Dont ever get a hyundai!!!
