BMW promises 30 improvements in range charging speed with next-gen battery
Posted On: September 9, 2022
BMW on Friday provided the first details on its new sixth-generation battery design. Due around the middle of the decade, the sixth-gen battery promises significant performance improvements over the current fifth-generation design used in the automaker's latest electric vehicles, like the 2022 BMW iX and 2022 BMW i4. The new battery sticks with familiar lithium-ion technology but adopts a round cell design that provides packaging advantages over the current prismatic cell design BMW uses, something referred to as “pack to open body.” Inside the actual cell, the silicon content on the anode side and the nickel portion on the cathode side have been increased, while the portion containing expensive cobalt has been reduced. The cobalt could also be swapped out for lithium-iron phosphate if needed. According to the automaker, the new design translates to a 20% improvement in the cell's volumetric energy density. The automaker also estimates range will be improved by 30% over a fifth-generation battery of similar size and weight. Another key advantage of the new battery is a switch to an 800-volt electrical architecture, something more and more automakers are adopting as it enables DC fast charging at high rates. BMW hasn't mentioned a specific time figure but said charging a battery from 10%-80% should be about 30% quicker than it is today. Development of batteries takes place at BMW's Battery Cell Competence Center located in Munich, Germany. BMW will also be responsible for production of the batteries, which will be handled by six plants each with an annual capacity of up to 20 gwh. The six plants will be divided equally among China, Europe, and North America, and will use both new and recycled materials for the batteries. This last factor, in combination with the new cell design, means the cost of producing the battery could be reduced by up to 50%, compared to the fifth-generation battery, BMW said. BMW will introduce the new battery in a family of EVs code-named the Neue Klasse, German for "New Class." The first of the Neue Klasse EVs will arrive in 2025 and will include a sedan in the 3-Series segment and a sporty SUV.

Purchased new 525i in 2001. Should have never purchased new 2009 528I. Spent too much time prior to 50K mileage warranty having BMW serviced and too much time plus money after 50K for other vehicle problems that were not covered by warranty. Called North America BMW headquarters in New Jersey. Headquarters could care less about their product and customers. Bought Porsche Cayenne 4 years ago and wondered what I ever saw in BMW. Complete night and day difference in quality of the vehicle. I will tell as many potential BMW buyers to NOT purchase a BMW. Do NOT purchase BMWs. I have been told that a significant amount of the money made by the company is from the repairs of the vehicles. Surely BMW headquarters is aware considering they are supplying the parts for all of the expected/planned repairs.

I have had a love affair with BMW since the mid 1990s, however Im sorry to say that relationship is on the rocks. Having had 3 brand new BMW cars and one new BMW motorcycle I can now say that BMW quality is no longer a corporate mandate, just a slogan. What was once (with proper care) a vehicle that you could rely on, be proud of and enjoy has become the brand of what next. I say this as my X3 sits in a service bay to replace the drivers side mirror which fell off! $1300 To replace something not broken not damaged but the latest in a long line part failures that was preceded by a motorcycle that I literally had to throw away. WHAT? Yes a 2003 R1200C with less than 12000 miles stored in my hanger that in 2014 turned into junk because of cheap manufacturing processes, poor quality wiring and metal plating that literally fell off. Sound familiar, among exterior body reflectors and interior parts that have fallen off or delaminated on the X3 the one that has convinced me is the drivers door handle that is slowly turning into black goop and when I showed it to the service writer he said and I quote On the earlier models you had to replace the entire door panel.... As I said in the beginning not worth the money, because you are paying for quality that is no longer there.

My overall experience with my BMW 4-Series Grand Coupe model: sports ride, awesome performance and sleek style. I like the navigation package because visually it is appealing and has several functionalities that are easy to use. The heated steering heats up to a comfortable setting for my hands. The heated seats, front and back, is extremely useful for my family on cold days. The seats are typical for a sports car. However, for a BMW, I expect that the seat should be more comfortable. Right now, the seats are too hard and very uncomfortable. I do not like the seats at all. In fact, I use Anne sit on a cushion in the not comfortable.

My engine seize in the parking lot, tow to a BMW shop, I am told engine need to be replace. Cost to repair just over $ 18,000.00 CA with the add on. Call BMW Canada and tell me Sorry, your warranty is over. We can not cover any cost. As we know all the recall from the USA DO NOT APPLY IN CANADA, they are only on a voluntary basis from the car manufacturer. I install the replacement engine and had to fix all the years 2010 production problem at my own cost. IE new fuel pump, injector and repair of the waste gate, no help because the recall apply only in the USA. This was my first and last BMW because of seizing injector leak hydro lock engine.

Purchase a BMW 328i late Dec 2012, 48,800 miles. Im retired, drive less than 8,500 miles a yr., pick up my grandkids from school 12 miles roundtrip. In the first 2 months after I got this car Ive taken it back to the dealership at least 5x. RED FLAG. Check engine light on, door wont open, oil leak. Dealerships fix everything, no problem till June 2013 & no longer under 50,000. Had this car 5 1/2 months, at the dealership 6 times & had to pay over $990 to the blower on the AC. Since then Ive paid for several oil leaks, gasket valve replaced, door locks because it was a mechanical problem, window problems, AC problems - 2 more times had to raise hell about that to get it fix & still charged me $150.00 for a part because only the blower was under warranty. Check engine light NEVER goes off & no one knows why.Picked up my grandson from school on a hot day, the car just stopped. No lights, no warning, just died. Took it back to the dealership that informed me my break fluid was leaking, my transmission may have problems & my suspension is going out... my car was just at the dealership for routine oil change, break fluid & tires 3 weeks before it stopped. I ask them about a noise my car made when I turn left/right but they didnt hear or see anything. They gave me a quote for everything that needs fixing & I almost hell passed out, I had to get 2nd quote. While driving home on the freeway front suspension went completely out, tried to stop that, car was all over the place, it scared me so bad I had to pull off the Fwy. I just cried, 35 mins later start car back up, took the side streets, home only 10 mins away when my car started shaking. I stopped at lights, it would shake more & act like it was going to die... Who knows what the hell that is.I financed this car, make payments, take great care of it... Only drove it to pick up my grandkids, get groceries & church... I would park it on the weekends cause my daughter would pick me up... Those miles on the car came from driving back & forth 40 min 1 way to the dealership 15 time in less than 3 yrs... Its been sitting for 2 weeks. Im too scared to drive it, even if I could afford all these recent repairs $8,000-$10,000... THIS IS THE WORST CAR I EVER HAD... This car has been in the shop more than I actually driven it. Ive spent over $3,800 not including routine maintenance on a car I didnt drive when it did run... This car is nightmare. Every time I look at it I start to cry... WHOEVER READ THIS, NEVER BUY A BMW EVER. Lease a new model, 2 yr then take it back... Can I sue BMW??

I have a 2015 BMW 650i Grand Coupe. BMW offers one type of low profile tire. I am on my fourth front tire, because of a bubble forming on the side of the tire from driving on LA roads. I was offered wheel and tire protection when I purchased the car, but turned it down, because I have never experienced this issue on any of the other many cars I have owned. When I wrote to BMW North America, they dismissed me completely, offering nothing. My car is in mint condition, the magnesium wheels are perfect, so it is not from driving abuse. BMW have left a bad taste in my mouth and I have had to spend $1,700 in 18 months on tires. Never again.

We leased a brand new 2011 750Li. One month later, the car lost its power, and the engine light went on. We took it to the dealership, where it stayed for 10 days! Finally, they found the problem, fixed it, and we picked up the car. We drove the car out of the Vista Service at 11AM. At 6PM the same day, the car stalled in middle of the road. We called Vista to tow it, and the car is there for already 20 days. Nobody knows how long it will be stay there. They could not even find the problem. They kept telling us stories. After probably spending thousands of dollars out of their pockets, since it is under warranty (the car is 1 month old!), they told us that a rat got under the hood, and chewed all the wires. Now, they have blamed us for it, after a month in their body shop. Now we had to make a claim with our insurance, and pay the deductible fees for it. Meanwhile, they gave us an X5 as a loaner. A couple of days ago, we went to the supermarket, walked out, and found that the rear windshield was broken. Now, the dealership does not want to exchange the loaner, and I have to drive it with the broken window, with a 1 year old child in it, and a stroller full of glass. The insurance company is laming the dealership, and we have to pay another $500 for the window, and I even cannot exchange the cars after I paid. The worst dealership in the world. The salesperson was the best-James **, no hard feelings, you are the best! What cannot say about James ** in service department. The brand new car has been in service for more than 30 days.

I purchased a 2018 BMW X5 in 2017. We bought a brand new vehicle so I wouldn’t have to be having car trouble. I’ve owned the vehicle about 14 months and it has had 2 engine malfunctions within one year. The vehicle just starts shaking and completely shuts off! Both times it happened in the freeway were cars are driving a constant speed of over 55 miles. Luckily I was able to just merge to the side of the freeway without causing an accident. Very bad experience just thinking I could of put my kids in danger since the engine just shuts off out of nowhere. This last time we were stranded in the grapevine where there was no stores or gas station close by just waiting for the tow truck to arrive. Both times my car has been in service for over a week. I am trying to request a replacement for a car that is not faulty or if they can just reimburse me what I’ve paid for and return the vehicle. I am very disappointed. We thought that one of the best car makers were BMW and it has let me down especially for the price.

I purchase a BMW X5 diesel in December 2014. Since then, I have been having problem. I took the vehicle to NJMVC inspection station in Edison, NJ. I failed for emissions. To date, I have spent $3200. I have replaced the oxygen sensors, the active tank, the catalytic converter and now the dealer is saying that I need to replace the passive tank. This vehicle seems to have a fault. I wrote to the Federal Trade Commission and even spoke with Rebecca Franks from BMW, NJ and the issue is still unresolved.

I purchased a BMW 323i on 19, January 2012, chassis no. **, customer order no. ** from Auto Bavaria at 3A Persiaran Kerjaya, Seksyen U1, Glenmarie, 40150, Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia. After using the car for about a month, with a mileage of 1,600 km, I observed a bulge on the tire (continental run flat). After sending and requesting for a change of tire on many occasions, my request was denied.BMW cited external factors for the tire bulge, thus declining my request for a new tire. My claim was that the car is still under warranty; BMW staff even agreed that this is a common problem with this kind of tire. If so, why supply such tires for my car? Even if there was an external factor (as claimed by BMW), it must have been minimal as there is no dent on the rim or the body. If the tire can’t withstand a small impact (if any), it must be a sub standard tire. Thus, I request for a new high quality tire for the car. Please advise, thank you.

I believe that is not proper or even BMW policy to replaced BMW factory built battery with Exide brand battery. On July 29, 2010, I purchased a 2010 BMW 3 Series 328xi at BMW of Orland Park. The purchase included a balance of factory warranty for four years or 50,000 miles on all parts. The air conditioning was blowing warm air when the controls were set to cool and I took my car to the service department on May 18, 2013. The service department rep said the refrigerant was low, there were no leaks found and that he will evacuate and recharge the system. He also said dye will be added to help determine the location of the leak. The system was then blowing cool. I had no reason to suspect that the service department was not working in good faith to resolve the problem. The air conditioner was blowing warm air when the controls were set to cool again and I took my car to the service department on May 23, 2014. The service department rep said the refrigerant was low, there were no leaks found and that he will evacuate and recharge the system. I requested that the air conditioner system is repaired or replaced. He also said it is difficult to do diagnostics for a refrigerant leak and that an oil will be added to help determine the location of the leak. The system was then blowing cool and I was charged $209.19. I had no reason to suspect that the service department was not working in good faith to resolve the problem. The air conditioner was blowing warm air when the controls were set to cool again and I took my car to the service department on March 31, 2015. I explained to the service department rep named, Craig, that I am not willing to pay for diagnostics, evacuation and a refrigerant recharge again. I requested that the air conditioner system is repaired or replaced. I also requested that BMW, at the minimum, assist with the cost since the warranty was still active and not utilized at the initial appointment when I reported the air conditioner not working properly. I entered a caveat beneath my signature on the work order that I only agree to have the air conditioner system reviewed for subsequent repair and/or replacement. I told Craig at least four times during the consultation, I do not want to pay for an evacuation and recharge procedure.Craig told me the AC condenser could be damaged from a rock, so hell have to check out the whole system anyway, especially since its out of warranty. I explained to Craig that since the car was not out of warranty the previous two times I reported the issue, some consideration should be given to me as a customer. Craig said he will check with BMW and see if they will help pay as a good-will gesture. He said BMW would probably pay 85% of the cost. I told Craig that I am a single small woman who is financially alone and that I cannot afford to pay $300 every year for diagnostics, evacuation and a refrigerant recharge because I do plan to keep the car. I am planning to retire within the next five years and this is not in my budgetary agenda. Also, I explained if I were to pay $300 every year for the next five years, I would have paid to have the air conditioner system replaced.Craig responded by saying that he was not independently wealthy either. So I left my car with the understanding that every effort would be made to determine how the air conditioner system would be repaired and/or replaced. Craig called me on March 31, 2015 and asked for my permission to keep my car for another day. He said, they couldnt find anything wrong with the air conditioner system and will continue to try to find the problem. I agreed.Craig called me on April 1, 2015 and again asked for my permission to keep my car for another day. He said, they couldnt find anything wrong with the air conditioner system and will continue to try to find the problem. I sighed and he said, and I quote, Hey, Im trying to help you out. Were checking out the evaporator coil and trying to see if its the factory. Even though his tone was unprofessional, I agreed. It was at this conversation I began to suspect that he was not working in good faith to resolve the problem and that there is no recourse for me.Craig called me on April 2, 2015 and said he couldnt find anything wrong with the air conditioner system or any leaks. I asked him if an evacuation and refrigerant recharge was done and he said yes. He did exactly what I asked not to be done. I told him I was not pleased that this issue was not resolved as I requested. He said he did me a favor because he charged me for only one unit of refrigerant and he put in two units. When I asked why cant the system be repaired or replaced, he said they dont know what part to repair or replace. I am so discouraged and angry that I was not given a more intelligent explanation. BMW can build machines for which they cannot repair? He said he will notate on the invoice, that next time, I will not have to pay for the diagnostics. He said maybe next time Ill get a convertible for the loaner car.Craig suggested that I pick up my car in the morning because traffic was heavy on La Grange Road that time of the evening and he wont be there. I dont use La Grange Road to travel to Ziegler BMW and I wasnt interested to seeing him considering my disappointment to the way this issue was handled. So I picked up my car within 45 minutes after being notified to do so. When I got into my car, it stunk like cigarette smoke and sweat. I was provided a loaner car in the interim. The loaner/rental car agreement for a temporary substitute vehicle indicates, No smoking or a $250.00 fine will be charged. A copy of my credit card was obtained to ensure payment should I breach the no smoking policy. However, I am not being compensated to have my car deodorized. In summation, I am extremely saddened to be treated with such disrespect and callousness. I purchased a BMW because I need a reliable car. I also chose BMW because I suspected that I would receive the kind of customer service that would equate with the kind of product I purchased. I am extremely upset and dissatisfied about this issue. I feel very uncomfortable to use BMW for any of my automotive needs. However, I am still interested receiving a satisfactory remedy from BMW as previously requested.

I own a 2005 325CI with 51,000 miles and I have clear coat issues myself. Unfortunately, I bought the car used a few years ago. I figured I could get some assistance from the customer complaint center because the ** service manager at the local dealership basically told me ** you in a nice way. Both my conversations with management from the dealership and customer service center were futile, no assistance whatsoever. There is definitely a trend with these complaints even with cars that are garage kept. The materials that are being used here are definitely substandard. I have other cars that sit in the same driveway that are older than the BMW, and I use the same cleaning products on them that I use on the BMW and I have no issues at all. I am not asking for a freebie, but I think BMW should give some sort of assistance in these matters and take care of their customers whether they bought their cars new or used. The customer service reps and managers at the so-called Service Center are a bunch of arrogant ** that know nothing about taking care of the customer. If anyone has any info on who I can talk to other than the service center, dealership, or paint reps, please let me know. I am totally frustrated that no assistance was offered.

I have a 2007 BMW 335 with 68,000. I took it to the dealer and came up with $3600 repairs. How can a reputable car manufacturer produce cars that have an oil leak and to repair it, you need to remove the casket of the engine for a car with such a low mileage? I am saying goodbye to BMWs. After they take the car for about month they give me the car. I drive the car for about two months. It was time to change the oil. I go to another BMW dealer closer from my new home. After they change the oil I noticed a ticking noise. At the time I go to pickup my car, they inform me that this issue inside the engine and I should take the car to the dealer who open the engine for me as this engine should be under cover. I called BMW of main line and I called BMW of north America. NO one helped me, no one even their manager told me to take it to BMW who change the oil and the one who change the oil, they told me to take it to the one who open the engine. They forgot that both of them are BMW and I dont care how they deal with this thing. I just need this ticking noise to be fixed. They only smile on your face when you are there to buy a car, then when you go back to fix something that they cant handle they just keep ignoring you. Friends and family I wanted to share my recent experience with BMW to forewarn any of you who might be considering purchasing a vehicle with them. Although this post is long, I please urge you to read through and leave comments and share to strengthen my case against BMW. I own 2010 535I GT. Summary of my experience: I had initially gone to BMW to repair a faulty water pump, where they should have also discovered the other issues they later diagnosed during their 27-point inspection. These issues were overlooked and I had to bring my car back to get re-diagnosed, where they estimated $5,700 in repairs. After the repairs were done, a new problem arose, and funny enough, the new problem is the result of them fixing the initial issue, which they still have the nerve to charge me to fix. Read the full story below:I first noticed an issue with my car 2 months ago when my engine started overheating on the freeway. As a result I towed my car to McKenna BMW in Norwalk, CA where I paid close to $800 to repair a faulty water pump. Close to two weeks later I found another issue. This time the problem was the headliner on the sunroof. I brought my car to BMW of Ontario where a full inspection was done. The diagnosis: replace the headliner and repair leaks in valve cover gasket and oil filter housing. Total cost estimate for repairs: $5,700. After making a fuss, they agreed to a 25% discount and since I had guests coming in from out of country, I okayed the repairs. After that I started checking reviews online. I noticed that quite a few people had complaints about headliner malfunction. One was at 14,000 miles. Had I been using my sunroof, I would have probably discovered this problem sooner and would have been a part of warranty. I do think it is a faulty part and manufacturing defect. After I picked up my car, I got on the freeway and heard noise from the roof again. Stopped by home real quick to pick something up. As soon as I turned off the engine, there was a big squeaking noise coming from the engine. Took the car back and had a test drive with the service manager on duty, and he concurred with the two noise issues and promised to fix them. A week later the service advisor contacted me saying the noise from the roof was fixed. However the squeaking noise was a result of repairing the gaskets. Explanation was that when there was a leak in gasket, the air had an escape route. After replacing the gaskets, the air had nowhere to escape, thus making the noise. To eliminate the noise I would have to pay to replace the valve cover. Beware: If you are buying a brand new BMW, there would be a squeaky noise from the engine because the gaskets would be new and the air would have nowhere to escape (lol). I contacted BMW corporate to explain my situation and to be refunded for my repairs, waste of time and inconvenience. They dismissed my claim and said there was nothing they could do since I no longer had warranty. I definitely feel profiled as a woman, and I feel like the BMW dealership preyed on my lack of mechanical knowledge to squeeze me for every cent. This was a truly exhausting and upsetting customer service experience. I expect much more from a luxury car company.

My 2005 645 CI is as awesome as it is a nightmare. It drives great, it looks great but I have had problems with the convertible top since I bought the vehicle. While driving with the top closed, a warning comes on: convertible top not locked. At this point the convertible top and the rear window cannot be operated, and if the rear window was open at the time that the warning came on, such window is stuck in the open position. At times such warning disappears while I continue driving a few moments or a few miles, at times it disappears after the engine has been shut down, and at times it continues to stay on until the problem is fixed by the dealer. The car has been at the dealer for this reason more than 15 times, the rotation sensors have been changed three times and they have been re-adjusted and/or re-positioned the other times. In 2010, I wrote about such problem to the management of the local dealer, as well as to BMW USA. The malfunction continues to happen, regardless. I just got back the vehicle from the dealer 2 days ago (beginning of August 2012), still for the same reason. I am reaching the point where if the problem re-occurs, I am going to dump my loved/hated car.

I contacted BMW customer relations as my sunroof was not closing properly. I had extended warranty but I received a follow-up call to notify me that BMW would not honor the repairs. My request for an additional escalation path was denied by Paige and Erin (customer service manager/supervisor) because according to them, they were at the highest level. I requested the physical street address for the corporate office in NJ, in which I was also denied. They do not escalate cases and if you open a complaint, they do not tell you what they would do with that. They also refuse to send you a letter, which gives the reason for denial. BMW customer relations sucks big time!

Got a flat on tires designed to go 50 miles, but only got 5 miles before it was on the rim. Didnt know I didnt have a spare... never told me when leasing my 2014 X5. The nice lady on the roadside assistance call, said that she would send a tow truck to tow my car 60 miles (I would have to pay and be reimbursed by BMW) to the nearest dealer, but that unfortunately, since it was Sunday night and I was 150 miles from home, in the rain, that I would have to find a place to stay. Again at my expense, and find a way to get to that dealer, 60 miles away and get my car back on Monday sometime.... I didnt, called friends who came and fixed the flat. Then on Monday BMW said sorry for your inconvenience, expense and disappointment.... but thats the way it is, and the expense of the tire, rim, and service was mine... since I didnt have insurance. THIS IS MY 4th BMW (all had spares). THIS IS MY LAST BMW.

BMW Serpa, in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada - has the most unprofessional service provider that are more oriented towards how much money they can get out of your pocket (Consumer) before they decide if they will provide you with WHAT GRADE of Service or if they will decide to provide you with a Car for your use while your BMW is in service. BMW Serpa has gone from being low class BMW service Center to the being Most Unprofessional and most horrible place to take your BMW for service or less even to buy your next BMW. They will wipe your feet if you are trying to Buy Your Next BMW, but the minute the funds have exchanged hands, you are in the Doom Land - They do not know you any more. Now only money will talk - if you spend more money at their service desk, then you will get a LOANER CAR - if your work is under the Warranty, then you will be told sorry we do not have any LOANER at this point but we will try our best to get you one very soon. WELL, THE SOON WILL NEVER COME!!!!!!!I bought my BMW X5 from BMW Serpa in Newmarket, Ontario and soon after the driving became kind of rough engine sound and driving experience. Well I called BMW Serpa and was asked to come-on in for service. Well I took my X5 in for service and filed the report with the Service of Engine running rough that was covered under the WARRANTY. First I was asked to pay $158 for Diagnostic check, which I did and asked for a Loaner Car - But was told they had none available at this point (DAY #1).After 2 days and ME Calling them to get update on my BMW, I was told that the Spark Plugs need to reset and they are good and X% running fine now. I picked up the BMW and drove home that late Evening (Day #3) - Well I do not what the hell BMW Serpa did, but the car did not run smooth and was giving the same engine trouble as before. The next morning (DAY # 4) I took my car back to BMW Serpa and filed the same complaint and report of Engine Running Rough, Still giving NO LOANER CAR. Next day (DAY # 5) I did not receive any call from BMW SERPA. (DAY # 6) I called BMW Serpa and request for the service department and was given the Voice Mail and so left a message for them to call me. Well No Calls were received. NOW I AM WITHOUT A CAR for 4 Days. Finally I went to BMW SERPA and spoke to the Owner of the events that took place and Unprofessional Approach of the Service Department of his BMW SERPA.Well, during my visit to BMW Serpa, the service agent said he was going to call me today and that my BMW X5 had some Engine problem and they need to order various engine parts to get them changed that will be done in 4 -5 days. They still did not have any Loaner car for me. WOW! By gods Grace I was called by the service agent and said to come and pick up the LOANER CAR the Next day (DAY # 7).Well the 5 days that was told for repair of my BMW X5 by BMW Serpa was really 14 days. And NO SIR, I did not get any update calls as stated by BMW CANADA (Service Promise to Customers). It was me who was calling BMW SERPA at all time to get update on my car. Well finally after had received NO CALLS from BMW Serpa for 4 days, I called them on Friday Early Afternoon and was told, OH! The papers just came from the service desk, and that they were about to call me as my BMW X5 was ready, but as they were putting the paperwork together, they will call me in few minutes. The few minutes really was few hours. I received call back from BMW SERPA at 17:30 hours and was asked to pick my BMW and it was all tested and ready to go. Well I picked my BMW next day and drove home.Well, the BMW X5 started with same engine trouble within 24 hours of bringing it home from BMW Serpa after having it repaired and tested by the BMW SERPA Service Department. I called the Service Department on Tuesday (DAY # 18) and was attended by Female Service Agent and said she will ask the other Service agent working with me to call me in One Hour. WELL, NO Sir! No calls were received and Next day I called back in the Morning and was asked for Voice Box. I refused and asked to be put on hold until the Service Agent was free to speak to me. After 18 minutes on Hold, he answered and took down my complaint and asked me to drive the BMW back to BMW SERPA, which I refused as it was not safe and asked to arrange Tow to bring the car to Service at BMW SERPA. At 12:16 hours the Tow truck arrived and I went with the Tow truck to BMW SERPA. On arrival, I spoke to the agent at the service desk and was told that I should wait for the service agent who was dealing with me and was on lunch at this point. Also instead to asking me to wait in the waiting area, was told to go for lunch and come back. Well I decided to just wait there as the time was 12:30 hours and I was told the agent will be back at 13:00 hours. At 13:25 hours I went back to the service agent and asked when the other agent was expected back from lunch and was told very soon. So after 30 minute later than what I was told, the agent arrived and at 13:47 hours he came to me and asked for my BMW KEY. At 14:25 hours he came back and said the fuel in the car was only good for 6 KM before empty, I said that was not true and took him to the car and after starting the car, showed him that the car showed still good for another 68KM before reserve (He was trying to put the engine trouble on lack of fuel in the car). Well at 14:38, the agent drove the car to the service line and spoke to the BMW service supervisor to look into the X5 and get it diagnostic tested. Again I was told in few minutes it will be all done and ready to go. This was at 14:55 hours. Finally at 15:45 hours I again approached the service desk and asked for any update was told, OH! I was about to come to you, the problem was in the spark plugs, and as they do not have all the required plugs the car will be ready the next day by late morning.NEXT DAY NOW - I waited for a call from BMW SERPA - But No calls - so as always I called them and again left a Message for them to call me back. No Call back and neither I have any transport at this point. So I called them back and again I demanded to be put on hold, until the service agent was ready to speak to me, In 7 minutes I was speaking to my service agent, who said - he had no idea what was going on, but will find out and get back to me in 10 minutes. Well this time he did call in 10 mins and told me now the spark plugs were okay, but the problem was still existing and that the team was working on the electrical system now, so I said it was all covered under the Warranty and he said YES it was and so I asked for a LOANER CAR and he said they had NO LOANER CAR and he cannot be sure as to when he will have a loaner for me. Also he was unsure as to how long it will take for my BMW X5 to be ready or what was going on.I was once again, left hanging with No CAR, No proper information, No Details on how long the fix will take and neither any words of professional courtesy of what will happen to all my work meetings and my transportation. I had changed from AUTOHAUS BMW to BMW SERPA about 8 months back after 9 years of being a BMW AUTOHAUS customer (Happy One), as the BMW SERPA was closer to my house. But I do regret going to BMW SERPA and am most disappointed in the level of service provided by this BMW SERPA in Newmarket, Ontario, CANADA. Be Smart and stay away from BMW SERPA. Unless you like giving away your money with NO Accountability at all with this service provider, BMW SERPA. Best to go to other BMW Dealer! BMW SERPA = UNPROFESSIONAL.

A NEW (not used) BMW transmission was replaced for our X5 BMW year 2001 in July 15, 2010. We understood that the warranty on this transmission would be 10 years. Recently, December 28th, 2013, the transmission was failed. BMW did not accept responsibility for replacement under warranty claiming that the warranty period is only two years. Is this correct? The replacement cost we paid at the BMW OTTO Service was for a New BMW transmission. Your assistance & advise is appreciated.

My name is Anura, and Im from Chino Hills, California. Exactly 1 (one) week after my 72 months/100,000 miles warranty on my BMW 745 Lis was expired, I started to experience series of expensive car repairs. First, it got overheated and smoke started coming out of engine without a prior warning, after driving to Long Beach, California, just 45 miles with my family. I had to change all the plans and have it towed to my mechanic. It ended up costing me nearly $2,600 worth of repair work before getting the car back. A month or so later my transmission started slipping. This cost me another $3,100. 6 months later, I took it in to have it checked for serious oil and coolant leak problems. They had to change the valve cover gasket, coolant sensor and some coolant hoses, costing me another $3,600. Now Im having a serious smoking (out of tail pipe) problem, which will not make it pass the smog test. I got an estimate of $3,600 to fix that problem. Additionally, I have all kinds of flashing warning lights on the dash board. I hate to admit, if I want to go somewhere without having to worry about breaking down on the way, I wouldnt dare take my luxury BMW 745 Li, but rather my back up pick up truck Nissan Frontier. I intend to file a Lemon on this. If anyone has any advice or tips, please contact me at **. Thanks.

Two weeks ago we had great pleasure in taking BMW Arden to the small claims
Two weeks ago we had great pleasure in taking BMW Arden to the small claims court. My daughters 18 month old BMW had a faulty wishbone arm. It should have been repaired under warranty but she had to pay the insurance excess of £395. We had a small win as BMW had to pay it back. I know it wasnt much but at the end of the day it was the principle. Here is how it began: BMW Series 1. On 17 September 2017 my daughter Sam stopped at traffic lights to turn right into the Esso garage. When the lights changed, she moved slowly away, at this point the wishbone arm snapped causing her to catch the car in front. A passing mechanic who has his own garage examined the car and said it had issues. The only marks on her car was a small dent and scratch as the photos show. We sent photos to an online mechanic, he said that slight knock would not have caused the wishbone arm to snap. Her insurance company transported the car to their garage in Ashford. A couple of days later BMW asked Sam if they could take it to BMW Arden to undergo repairs as it was still under warranty. When she collected her car a month later, she was shocked when she had to pay her insurance excess of £395.00, she’d been told it was being repaired under warranty. It is apparent that at no time Ageas the insurance company inspected the vehicle. A letter dated 6th March 2018 states “I have reviewed our Audatex report from Arden Maidstone repairers who have not advised in their comments on the engineers report that the drive shaft snapped due to wear and tear or due to being faulty. Had they seen the car then they would have known it was the wishbone arm and not the driveshaft. They also wouldn’t have had to ask BMW what caused it to snap!We wrote and complained to BMW Arden, BMW Customer Services and the Ombudsman. They all said the insurance company carried out the repair so you have to pay. Her authorized repair company in Ashford did not do the repair, BMW Arden did and then invoiced the insurance company for £4550,09. Our mechanic said the cost should have been no more than £500. A solicitor advised me the onus of responsibility lay with Arden BMW, she said the insurance company was just doing their job.On July 6th, 2018 I wrote a final letter to Gary ** the assistant service manager at BMW Arden, His last email said, “The possible cause of the broken wishbone arm was wear and tear.” At the time my daughter’s car was 18 months old with under 7000 on the clock, so how could it have been wear and tear? We believe it had a faulty wishbone arm from new or it was in an accident when it was delivered to Arden Maidstone.

I purchased a CPO BMW because I wanted to feel safe and secure that the vehicle was well maintained. The cherry on top was that I would be getting free maintenance for 3 years. Then I found out the restrictions along with the free maintenance which includes only one oil change a year. I live in an area where there is no BMW dealership. So after two years, I took my vehicle in to a local place so that I could get oil changes after 6 months. I thought it would be a good test to see how good the place was too since I would be taking it in to the dealership the next time. The service place reset the indicator lights on my BMW so that I wouldnt get the incessant notification - I thought was nice of them to do that. My mistake. I took my vehicle in after 50,000 miles to get it serviced and BMW said they couldnt perform most of the major 45,000 and 50,000 mile maintenance because the service light wasnt on. I tried to escalate by calling Customer Relations, but they pushed it back to the Dealership and the area managers. The area managers said since I hadnt been in to a dealership for over a year, it showed that I didnt have any brand loyalty.Keep in mind the closest BMW dealership to me is about 45 minutes away - so not a quick drop off. Also, keep in mind I went the past two years and realized they would only perform maintenance on my vehicle once a year anyway - anything earlier and I wasnt qualified for any service. Seriously? How much does it cost to change spark plugs on my car anyway?!?! Theyve certainly lost a customer in me. I was going to have other service completed ($800+) but after this treatment, Ill take my chances and go to a local place instead.Ill give them credit that they did perform some of the other warranty covered items (like replacing gaskets, etc.), but it makes me angry and frustrated that they wont perform the regularly scheduled maintenance items due to me not having brand loyalty, especially when Ive always gone to BMW except for one time. And something as minor as not changing spark plugs has decidedly made me never to buy BMW again. I love the way the cars drive, but the joy of driving it doesnt compensate for the poor treatment I get as a customer. I should have listened to everyone else who said BMW doesnt care about their customers.

I own a 2007 335i, which I purchased from BMW dealer, and always had it serviced by a BMW dealer. Around 35,000 miles I began having repeated problems with oil leaks, the service engine light would constantly come on and the engine wasnt performing properly. I was told that the codes just needed to be reset and that the problems were fixed. A few days later the check service engine light came on again. I went back to the dealership and was told it was the code for the fuel pump plausibility and all they had to do was to reset it with the software and it would be fine.A week later the same thing happened. This time around I asked them to take a look at the issue. I once again was told that the problem was fixed and that the codes just needed to be reset. The check engine light would come on regularly and I was always told the same thing - that it was due to the software update but the car had no issues.I took my car in to the dealership right before 50,000 miles and before the warranty expired to have an oil change and at that time I was told that the car had an oil leak and the fuel pump had to be replaced. They replaced it and reset the codes once again. I explained the car was not driving properly, as it would jolt and it wouldnt accelerate. The service rep said he would check on that and make the necessary repairs. I left the dealership and on my way home the service engine light came on once again. I went back to the dealership and was told they needed to reset the codes again.A few months later, I noticed the car was leaking oil and the engine was not running properly. The service engine light was also back on. I took it to the dealership and was told it was the fuel pump, and there was a problem with the turbochargers and engine. I was told it would not be covered under the warranty as the warranty had just expired. I had them do them complete the repairs as it was necessary. In less than 24 months, Ive had to have the fuel pump and oil gaskets replaced three times. The car went into limp mode as I was driving on a busy intersection and just turned off in the middle of traffic, putting my life as well as other drivers lives in danger. I was struck from behind by a van because the driver didnt anticipate me just stopping without warning. This a huge safety issue and BMW needs to be held accountable for withholding this information from customers. I had to have my car towed to the dealership and they refuse to warranty the defective items.I called BMW North America and spoke Leah in Customer Affairs and she informed me that it was up to the dealership if they wanted to apply the warranty or not. She said it is not up to the corporate office to make those decisions. I also demanded a copy of all my service maintenance records from the BMW dealership where I had the car serviced and they refused to provide them to me.I asked to speak to a supervisor and was transferred to Ross at BMW corporate office. I told him I wanted a copy of all my maintenance records from the SM BMW dealership emailed to me, as I couldnt go there in person but needed to the records to show proof that I had the fuel pump repaired numerous times. He told me he called over to the dealership and requested the records but they refused to email them to me and proceeded to say that they dont have to give me those records.I was beyond appalled that I would be treated that way, after all I had been through given they sold me a product with a manufacturers defect. I explained that the dealership was charging me over $5,500 for the fuel pump and oil gasket repair, yet I had already paid over $8,000 to have it repaired numerous times. The dealership refused to warranty the defective items. I am beyond disgusted with their lies, fraudulent practices and their sheer incompetence. Ive decided to retain legal counsel at this point.

The appearance of the 330is is way off. The reason why we as public is going wild over the e30 325is is because of its boxy body shape as it is to perfect, the amazing sound of the M20 2.7 motor and interior. I would prefer revive the original e30 325is with a slight twist of lil bit of modern interior updates and wheels but leave the appearance and motor as it is.

Endless problems, high parts cost, Arrogant dealership! - I realize fully that my opinion(s) are not exactly the same as some out there who are chiming in with comments about more recent models purchased, new or used from BMW dealerships, but I thought I would give my two cents because of my shock that these cars are absolutely not built with the same quality of a Mercedes or of Chevrolet (at least when it comes to their Corvette products). Recently, I purchased a 1999 BMW 328i Convertible with 116,000 miles on it. I did so believing that BMW had superior quality and engineering. The car is so cosmetically perfect as to indicate that it had been well taken care of, and the Carfax was in order, too. The engine overall runs fine, although Ive already gone through two steering pumps because BMWs are apparently prone to having steering pump clogging issues with their steering pump filters, also, my air conditioning does not work properly due to a common BMW problem called the fan regulator switch. Realizing fully that there would be things that needed fixing on any car with such high mileage, I never in my life have heard of some of the ridiculous things that are wrong with this car nor have I ever experienced the sticker shock with regard to finding/purchasing parts in order to patch this thing back together (i.e. a new cup holder, which usually can only be ordered directly from BMW because there are no used ones on the market due to the fact that they are made so cheaply is $60.00 at the local arrogant dealership. A coin holder which is usually broken but which has to be replaced in order to complete the restoration of the center console is $30.00 and looks like nothing more than a small piece of thin plastic with cheap springs inside). The airbag light that is on is not due to something specifically wrong with one of the airbags, but rather has to do with the seat belt tensioner, a typically BMW, overkill, goofy part and/or mechanism, which requires a full replacement of the seat belt latching mechanism on the passenger side, $550.00 for the part from BMW, $150.00 if Im lucky to find a used one on eBay that actually works. And the service advisor at the local dealership here in Kansas City just kind of laughed, like theyve done about most things. When I asked for an estimate to have it installed, saying, Its hard to say how much it would cost, we dont do much work on the ‘older’ cars.” When I asked about the drivers seat, of which the power gears have locked up and no longer work, he simply flat out said We really dont do work like that on the ‘older cars’, and recommended one of two or three local boutique-type foreign car garages around town.” The same went for my convertible top, always with a good little arrogant laugh. I inquired about an oil change, and after another arrogant little chuckle, and checking with several other mechanics and service advisors, was told it would probably be about $100.00. This after Ive spent a good $1,000.00+ at their dealership on parts which Ive installed myself. Ive owned several sports cars in my life, most of which were purchased used, including 5 Corvettes, and two Mercedes-Benz SLs (one of the Mercedes had over 160,000 miles on it when purchased; the other over 80,000 miles). All were far superior cars to this ultimate driving machine, with far fewer problems of any kind on them. I cannot believe the shoddy quality of everything on this car. The plastic on almost every plastic part is cheap and cracks; electrical problems are now starting to crop up with my entire left tail light mechanism failing to operate now (never have I experienced a whole bank of tail lights failing on any car Ive ever owned, foreign or domestic). I realized I was going to have to replace the top because it was worn out; however, parts of the top that are necessary to complete the top rebuild are astronomical in price, with small plastic pieces and one foot of elastic cord costing $80.00 wholesale; one piece, available only from BMW, that is held in place with the stupidest design I ever saw of having one central screw in the center of the windshield, cost $283.00 and is so flimsy that its a wonder that it wont need replacing once a year. The top doesnt work correctly and there is no guarantee that it ever will. Ive seen 30 year old Chevrolets with tops that are not this intricate, cheap, nor prone to problems that still work beautifully. Just today, most of my tail lights and all of my interior lights stopped working! This car looks like it was well taken care of, but it must have all been to no avail. I now understand why a used BMW is only worth about 30% of what a used Mercedes is valued at. I did not sign on to being a Beemer owner thinking that I was buying something with as many problems as a 50 year old Jaguar or MG. I was thinking the quality would be more like a Mercedes and as for the arrogant preamble to this site, which says: “High-performance cars require lots and lots of very expensive routine maintenance. Also theyre notorious for being afflicted with all kinds of exotic problems. If youre really into cars, understand them and are willing to lavish time, money and attention on one, the BMW may be for you. If youre looking to raise your self-esteem by buying something really expensive, we recommend real estate.”Thats **! Furthermore, the arrogance of the people who work at the local dealership, including at the parts counter is unbelievable. They almost want to argue with you about what part you need. If they cant find it immediately, they get cranky and claim it doesnt exist, that that was a part that BMW didnt put on the car, or some other crazy excuse. Then, when you finally bring them a part number, they apologize and tell you its $500.00. A Corvette and Mercedes SLs are high performance cars, and I do understand cars, and BMWs are pieces of crap! Just my two cents, but I will never purchase a BMW, new or used ever again!

I would like to share my disgust and aggravation with BMW Assist. Last night, after dropping my son off at soccer practice in South Florida, I placed my dog and my purse in the front seat of my BMW X5. I proceeded to close the door and walk over to the driver’s side. To my disbelief, all the doors were locked and my dog was stuck in a stifling hot vehicle. I called BMW Assist frantically, requesting that they open my door. They asked for all my information including my address, vehicle VIN, etc. The only information I was unable to provide them with was my enrollment date (as all the paperwork, along with my dog), was locked in my vehicle. I begged the woman to ask me any other security question. She said “sorry, I can’t help you”. I told her my dog was dying and suffocating in the vehicle. She said without this information she was unable to send a signal to my car. She was rude, unsympathetic and didn’t care about my dog’s well-being.We called the police and the city sent a fire truck and policeman to assist in saving my dog’s life. Luckily, however, my son was able to sign into our account, from home, and retrieve the necessary information before the police needed to get involved. I was so upset that I called both BMW North America and BMW Assist. I was told that this was a security measure to avoid theft. I would rather my car be stolen than to lose a life. What would the woman have done if it were a baby? Let the baby die to avoid potential theft.I am sorry, but I choose life over theft. I was also told that the woman could have opened the vents in my vehicle but never offered to do so. BMW Assist supervisor also told me that she should have informed me with an officer at hand, that she would be allowed to send a signal. Neither step was, however, taken. I am very fortunate that my dog is alive, but unfortunately from no assistance provided by BMW. This is unacceptable and procedures and policies should be established so that this never happens again.

Great power and very good fuel consumption. Very hard ride for an SUV due to the run-flat tyres. There is ample space for a spare so would be better with conventional tyres. Otherwise BMW is very well equipped and a pleasure to drive.

Awesome car to drive. I am on my 4th BMW. But this will be my last. My current car is a 335i. I need a footwear module. I cannot drive the car because of this part needs replaced. I contacted BMW because my car is just out of the warranty. Now mind you BMW extended this warranty because this part was defective. So knowing that asking for any help to cover the cost seemed reasonable. My car has 60k. Its a 2010. The warranty is 10 years 156k. I was told BMW wont help not one penny. Because of the age. Now owning 4 of these cars. I cant even begin to tell you the amount of money I have spent on repairs over the years. So now knowing I have to eat this cost. I am told 30-60 day to even get the part. So thanks BMW. I wont have a car to drive till I can get this handled. So once this puppy is fixed. I WILL BE TRADING IT IN! This is the last BMW I will own.

I am the third owner of an 08 BMW 535I with a bad high pressure fuel pump (recall) that has been replaced two times in the last three years. This would be the third time for replacement, but Gwinnett BMW refuses to replace it. They said it was the alternator, and OM battery that caused the problem to the high pressure fuel pump and my warranty or recall would not be honored. There is nothing wrong with my alternator or battery, they are operating properly. If there is an OM battery in the vehicle it had to be placed in the vehicle prior to my purchase. Last service was at Global Imports in Atlanta, GA.

I sent an e-mail to BMW Customer Service/Relations ([email protected]) including a couple of pictures of my X5. Searching on the web it is clear this issue is present on these model year cars. Today, I was contacted by RuthAnn, BMW Customer Representative, and she basically stated that all they can do is to log a complaint. My 2002 X5 is well over the 4 years/50,000 miles warranty and there is nothing that BMW can do. I explained that this was clearly defective workmanship on the part of BMW given the amount of problems on these model years, but she stated this issue was due to the elements and I should take my car to the dealer to make an assessment of the problem. However, even if the dealer determines it is due to a bad paint job from BMW, there is nothing BMW can do since the car is out of warranty. I tried to explain that I have had cars from Ford and Nissan older than my X5 and they never presented a paint peeling problem. Yet, here I have a luxury car with less years than my old cars where the paint work is peeling away with no warranty coverage. No response there. At the end all I was able to get is to have the complaint logged and be disappointed by BMW once again.

This is my first BMW and my last. While the car is fun to drive when it works, it has had such major issues (and now expenses) that it ruins the experience. Initially, the engine started to misfire. Eventually, when the car was pouring smoke out the back and would barely move, BMW replaced three injectors and a high-pressure fuel pump. After that work, the car ran fine but this was unfortunate because a check engine light came on within two weeks. I didn’t pursue it because the car was running well but should have because the warranty on the catalytic converter expired just then and it failed almost certainly due to the bad injectors (look it up). I’m now looking at a $4k bill for a single bad catalytic converter. I own a Lexus and a Honda and they give me zero trouble. I will simply stick with the Japanese brands from now on.

I purchased a 2011 BMW 528I from Pattersons BMW in Wichita Falls, Texas in July 2011. The car almost stalls when you stop and try to start again. The car hesitates when going around a corner and almost stalls. I have almost been run into because the car cannot leave a stop light like normal cars and people are in a hurry behind you. The car has been into the dealership six times and even the factory representative tried to fix the problem. No success resulted from all these attempts to fix the problem and the BMW solution is this is a characteristic of this car and all BMWs 528I have this characteristic. The salesmans car I drove did not have this problem and I doubt if any other 5 series has this problem. This new feature on 2011 BMWs is like fly by wire, in that there is no linkage between the engine and the footfeed. The computer responds to all controls within the car and somehow I have the slowest response computer, since computers were invented. If a, F-16 had this response time, the pilot would be dead and if I continue to drive this vehicle, I may be dead also.

Im a repeat owner of convertibles and on cooler days it is VERY common to place the heater on high when the top is down. I purchased a 2011 BMW 128i convertible with 30k miles in April 2014 and immediately discovered that when the heater was on very high or high for a period the radio will shut down and refuse to work. After an attempt (not knowing what that attempt was) to fix this car the dealer and BMW complaint division refuses to fix it or admit to a design FLAW. Has anyone else experienced this problem. My ADVICE to anyone thinking of buying a BMW convertible - check this out closely or shy away. They will not attempt to fix it nor admit it is a Design FLAW. It is REALLY inconvenient to drive in the cooler weather. Once the radio shuts down the heater must be turned off and returned to cool to continue listening to the radio. Never had this problem with any other convertibles. I will be selling this car!

My BMW had been sitting at the auto shop garage lot for a couple of weeks being looked over. I get a call from the garage owner early one morning that my BMW had caught on fire. I could not believe this! How could a car that had been sitting for weeks and had not been driven just catch on fire. The fire marshal investigated the matter and determined that indeed it was an electrical fire. I called BMW to make them aware of this situation. To my surprise the BMW representative told me that it was not an issue that BMW felt responsible for. I could not believe that this was BMW position regarding the quality of their cars. I was being told that because the car was not immediately under warranty BMW was not responsible. It was my position that here you have a supposed quality car that catches on fire just sitting. What company would not back their product in such a situation? I have a 16 month old son who was riding in this car on a daily basis before taking it in for maintenance. He could have died in this fire! BMW showed no concern or consideration in this matter. I will never buy another BMW if it was the last car on earth! Readers beware!!!

It has great gadgets and a wonderful sound system. After five months, it appears to be getting between 24 & 25 MPG. The seat are really comfortable and there is pretty of room in the back. I looked at a Cadillac XT4 but my golf clubs wouldn’t fit - they do in the X3. The blue paint is beautiful. I really enjoy this car and feel very safe when I drive it.

I purchased a BMW-X1 series from Sanghi Classic (BMW showroom) at Jaipur on 16/8/12. Now its total running kilometer is 14,214 km till date. But after that, we found that my vehicle is not running properly - On speed of 100 km, my vehicle trembles automatically which may cause serious accident at any time. We have a Honda CRV for the last 5 years and have changed the tires of the vehicle, and now, after running for more than 100,000 km, there is no damage in any of the tires. But in just running for 14,214 km of the BMW vehicle, we found that the condition of the tire is worst from the inside and in a very worst condition and is very risky to drive or travel. So please look in to the matter and replace the same with a new one. Thanks and regards.

I recently submitted a survey of my recent visit to the local BMW dealership (Schafer BMW of Wilmington, NC). I stated that I had taken my vehicle (2011 X3) in for a problem with noise coming from the passenger side at speeds of 45-50 MPH. The dealership stated that they too heard the noise and it was due to the tires. With 30K miles on the tires and their recommendation, I purchased 4 new tires, had them balanced and a front end alignment. Two weeks later I noticed the same noise coming from the same location. I returned my vehicle to the same dealership and again stated that the same noise was coming from the same location even after purchasing 4 new tires with an out of pocket of expense of $850 for tires, mounting, balancing and front end alignment. The dealership now states the noise is coming from the exhaust and not the tires. The resolution is still pending and BMW Customer Relations and Assistance states that they cannot reimburse me for the tires or accept responsibility of the dealerships misdiagnosis. Help!

June has come and gone and I am now told it will not be available at all. Never would I have taken this car. BMW will not take the car back. I have a 2009 BMW 3 series. I got a flat tire and was lucky to find a tire shop nearby. They did not have the tire for my car, so I called Roadside assistance to see how they could help me. They said I was entitled to a free tire and tire change, which was not true. So I agreed to have my car towed by a tow company, All About Automotive II on that Saturday night, until Monday morning when they would deliver it to Life Quality BMW Service Center. When I received my car back from the Life Quality BMW, the tire rims had been replaced on all four wheels with older, more damaged and dirtier rims, as if from a car that had been sitting in a dirty lot for years. I was outraged. I brought it to the attention of Life Quality, and their answer was that they could wash the car for me. These were not the original rims on the car. I foolishly believed that BMW would be working with a respectable tow company, even though when the company towed my car they did not take pictures of it, and one of the women who came to get the car was visibly a substance abuser. I was so foolish for trusting BMW. I put in a claim, and they denied it, without even trying to get evidence of my claim. I plan to continue fighting this case, but my advice to you is never to trust BMW roadside assistance.

I purchased a brand new special order 2011 BMW 128i. I love the car and treat it like a baby. It has only 13,000 mile but required new rear tires. Very expensive items and with traction control and safe driving why did it need new tires. I hate the run-flat tires. They are hard as rocks and negatively affect the driving dynamics of the vehicle. The vehicle has no spare or temporary spare. To balance the vehicle, the battery has been placed in the trunk. It would have been wiser to utilize regular tires and provide a temporary spare in the trunk. My battery is now starting to fail. Of course that happened two months after the 4 yr maintenance expired. I just discovered that a new battery costs over $600 because the vehicles computer has to be reprogrammed for the specific battery. Only BMW and a few authorized service centers can perform a battery replacement. So, a $200 battery costs an extra $400 for installation. That is just plain crazy. Hate the tires now, hate the cost of normal maintenance.

We purchased a 2005 BMW X3 in 2007 to be my wifes car. It had 22,000 miles, not bad. While its styled nicely, also with ample room for an SUV and it handles nicely, it has been a mechanical nightmare. Its our first BMW and I assumed it would be reliable and be of high quality. WRONG. It was OK for a couple years of use, up to 35,000 miles, but since then, its been one expensive repair after another. Things that SHOULDNT break in a relatively low-mileage automobile. First, it was the liftshocks that raise the back tailgate. It would drop down on your head if you didnt keep one hand holding up while unloading groceries, etc. I was able to do that repair myself with new shocks. Next, it was the back passenger window mechanism in which a plastic piece along the ridebar broke. No one was messing with the window. There was no abuse, just my wife lowering the window to bring in air. Of course, the plastic piece is part of a whole motorized ridebar/lift assembly and in order to fix (only a dealer has the parts, btw) cost $575! Ridiculous. Next, a cracked intake manifold, along with several other parts (faulty PCV valve, breather hose, vent valve) that required replacement. Cost: $1,500! This last October, it was a leaky oil pan and oil filter housing, $450! Finally, about six months ago, four lights appeared on the dashboard, AWD, brakes, I forget the other two. Well, theyre all related to the same thing: a small motor beneath the drivers side undercarriage that distributes torque to the four tires independently, thus AWD. Great concept, BUT NOT IF THE GEARS INSIDE THE MOTOR WEAR OUT which is exactly what happened. The car had about 51,000 miles when this occurred. The motor is inside a housing about the size of a football. The motor cost $1,800, plus $1,200 labor, grand total of $3,000! The labor is high because numerous things have to be removed under the car to get at, and replace, the AWD motor. Well, we have to wait to get this last fixed, but I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER BMW AGAIN, EVER!! I could understand one fluke, one faulty part, but this has become an awful financial burden for us. My Toyota, on the other hand, has 74,000 miles and never a problem! Only basic maintenance: oil, tires, brakes... So you figure it out, which is the better vehicle?

I purchased a certified pre-owned 2007 BMW 550i in 2009. There was a sporadic problem with the Sirius radio where it wouldnt change stations. I brought it in for service while the car was still under the original warranty to have it fixed. The service techs at Stevens Creek BMW could not reproduce the problem. The problem persists and I have brought it back in two more times but they can never reproduce the problem. I demanded that the radio be replaced and was refused. I called BMW customer relations and talked with Elizabeth ** at length about the issue. They refused to replace the radio because they cant reproduce the problem (which is pretty ridiculous since I reproduce it several times each week). Their logic is completely circular: they cant reproduce the problem it it doesnt exist. Transcript of conversation: So Im a liar? Oh, no, we believe you. So fix it. We cant fix it because we cant reproduce it and besides your CPO warranty wont cover it. But I reported the problem when the car was still under the original warranty. We couldnt reproduce it so we cant replace it under warranty. The Sirius radio is practically unusable. I spent a lot of money on this car. Its supposed to be the ultimate driving machine which I would think includes having a radio that works. This is just incredibly frustrating. The CPO warranty is completely worthless. The car also has crumbling front and rear window seals (on a 4-year-old car!) which the CPO warranty doesnt cover.I will never buy another BMW and I highly recommend that you dont either.

I bought 2003 BMW X5 with 82,200 miles from a dealer in the U.S. in September 2011. That was my first time of owning a BMW. Actually, I was excited for buying such a prestigious car. Just after one month of owning the car, I have spent close to $2,000 in repairs related to the front suspension. A service advisor at the dealer, where I sent my car, told me that the engine had to be repaired because it was leaking and that would cost about $3,000. The steering wheel has to be repaired as well. I experienced jerking when the car was changing from the third gear just recently, and I took it to the same BMW dealer. They say that the transmission is bad and it has to be replaced. That will cost between $6,500 and $7,000. I cant just comprehend what is going on. I thought BMW was a durable and prestigious car but I am losing hope and confidence in the car. What can I do now? I am getting frustrated. Please help.

My transmission needed a $3000 part which had been replaced less than 2 years earlier near San Diego, CA. BMWs warranty for parts purchased from their dealerships has a 2-year part and labor warranty. The part was replaced at Ontario BMW (now Penske) of Southern California under warranty free as confirmed by the customer service manager named Gary at Ontario BMW. And after the repair in a very unexpected manner, the BMW reps at BMW of North America rejected the repair because the repair was not done at the San Diego BMW dealer where the original repair was performed. The possible caveat that the transmission parts be replaced at the original part of service was never mentioned to me by any of BMWs official agents and representatives. The car is now fixed. And because it was not done in the original dealership in San Diego, they literally want to dismantle my BMWs transmission (basically redamage it) and make me pay for towing to San Diego to redo the repair. Not only does this make no financial $$ sense for me or even for BMWs own dealership, but its a poor and senseless, useless decision that violates BMWs own warranty policies. Please intervene and quickly shut this case in our favor since my request is beneficial for all sides involved. The warranty was honored as stated by BMWs agents and since no one at BMW knew of this hidden caveat, it makes no sense since my BMW broke down in Ontario, California. Thanks!

On August 24, 2014 I purchased a used 2009 BMW 335i with 58,213 miles. Unfortunately, from the time I drove vehicle off parking lot, it has been nothing but a money pit. I will start out with when I had to return the car to dealership shortly after purchase because the sunroof did not work properly. The problem was fixed, however it was just the beginning because more problems ensued and it seems like there is no end in sight. Not long after, check engine light is always on, I think it is the oil, even though it is about three months that I have car. I take car to get oil changed only to find out that it needs new shocks. I paid handsomely for new shocks in hopes that I am good with car. However, when I collected the vehicle and started using it again, a problem still existed. Three weeks later, I take it back to mechanic and they do a diagnostics test and determine that its the engine! The engine cylinders are misfiring. I havent had this car for 6 months and there is a major problem. My warranty was up but I was led to believe with the 82 point inspection that I had a good car, I mean its a BMW. Engine problems are big deals which is why I had to contact the dealership. The person who sold the car to me, took car to get checked out with the dealerships BMW service. The diagnosis I was given was that I needed to be using high quality gas and dont go below a quarter of a tank before refilling. I was then sent on my way. I was patient but two months pass and check engine light still lighting up. My car is shaking and I now know I have a LEMON of an expensive car. I actually took car to the San Antonio BMW dealership because I wanted to know if they had seen the car and I was told that dealership never brought the car in to check for misfires. So I contacted dealership again and thankfully, management agreed have the engine cylinder misfires fixed. After that repair they were done with me. I really felt that all problems were resolved and now I must maintain and keep up with repairs that would happen as more mileage was put on the car. I had forgotten that I actually had a lemon of a car. My nightmare was really about to begin. In August, it will be three years since the purchase of this 2009 BMW which currently has approximately 97,200 miles. Here is the rundown on repairs since purchase, however I may have left some out: Water pump, New tires (the warranty dealership sold me was bogus), Coolant, Serpentine belt, Air conditioning, Brakes, Oil pan gasket, Valve cover gasket, Oil hoses, Engine drive belt and tensioner, Spark plugs, Direct engine coils, Upper and lower pulleys. As of today, the car is in the shop because it turns out that the reason the power steering belt keeps breaking (second time it was replaced was in April 2017 so this is third time to replace) is because there is a crack in a mounting bracket of the power steering pump. Mind you, I had taken the car to the BMW dealership for a diagnostics test on June 27 June 30, 2017 because the car had been running in limp mode since May which is dangerous especially driving during rush hours to and from work. Our mechanics diagnosis suggested it could be an indicator that the high pressure fuel pump needs to be replaced and mechanic did not want to work on it in the event that it was the high pressure fuel pump which is under warranty and only the BMW dealership is able to replace. The car was at dealership for three days for diagnostics only to find out that it was not the high pressure fuel pump but the low pressure fuel pump sensor. Upon reflection, I learn that not all issues with car can be determined with diagnostics otherwise that power steering bracket crack would have been revealed since I was having to replace the belt for the third time. The costs for repairs are power steering problem is approximately $1100 and fuel sensor approximately $500, I hope. Fuel sensor pump is scheduled to be fixed this Thursday with the dealership but now I will probably have to rescheduled since I just had to pay $1305 for the spark plugs, coils and valve cover gasket. Total costs thus far, are well over $11,000 and rising after this repair be worked on now. No worries I have receipts. I have been so frustrated and overwhelmed with these car problems that no one should have to deal with in this short period of time for a presumably well-made top of the line car. I have been inconvenienced because of the many times of being carless and have taken time off from work to get car repaired because mechanics do not work weekends and as a teacher I have to schedule based on my teaching schedule. I contacted BMW North America because I wanted to know if these problems are typical and if I had any recourse to consider. They take no responsibility for a lemon of a car and advised that I contact the dealership who sold me the car because they had no records on the maintenance of the car. I also informed the lienholder because the cost of repairs and still owning on the car just doesnt make any sense to hold on to a lemon of a car. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT NO ONE BUY A BMW! I understand maintenance and replacing parts but geez this car started falling apart at 60,000 miles. Now the only recourse I have is to trade in car while I am upside down and buy something safer and less expensive because I cant afford more repairs. Amazing how these top of the line car manufacturers take no accountability for such poorly manufactured cars. I was suckered by the name brand and thinking it made it a better vehicle. Live and learn.

Share my unfortunate experience with BMW quality! I bought a BMW X1 about 4 years 9 months ago. Troubles started just after bought it. This and that warning lights came up often. After about one year, the battery drains all the time, have to replace the whole electric and battery system. A few weeks ago, just about 9 months out of the warranty, I drove it to Utah for a vacation. When I drove back home, it broke down in a city with transmission malfunction warning on the way. I have to tow it to the city BMW service for repair. After spent more than $1200, I still cannot drive it back home. It needs to replace the transmission, costs more than $11000. Left me with no other options, I have to sell it to the BMW dealer cheap and rent a car back home! This car only has 47000 miles, the transmission is gone!

I am overly wrought about my purchase of a 1994 BMW (purchased in 2003 with only 62,000 miles). It now has 132,000 miles on it. The following has happened in the last three years: the transmission went out, air conditioning went out, SRS system is down, radiator went out (2 times), $2,000 of leaks, and lumbar adjustment (both seats) broken.

I purchased an R1200 ST in March 2011. The bike was not serviced or registered in my name upon delivery, and came without the spare key. A week later, the clutch gave in. It was only three weeks later before the registration and an agreement to repair the bike were done. After the second wash, scratches appeared on the tank and covers. A long debate and threats ensued to have the bike repaired, with a promise that it would receive priority treatment. A month later, the bike was delivered without keys, service book and the same scratches. The keys were delivered two days later at 02:00 in the morning. Currently, Im trying to locate my service book from the dealer with no response. BMW SA refused to assist me with my original complaint, and now with the service book. The product may be good, but the after-sale service in South Africa is non-existent.

I have a BMW 2009 x5 4.8 and is unbelievable. The times I have been driving home with my kids and the engine fails, the # of times that I see the leak coming from the buttons, the turn, the lights on the sunroof, nonetheless how rough it has been running. I wish I only knew these were common. Just last week I received a letter that there was a recall of the fuel pump in my car. I took my car for service and they cannot still find what is going on because my car is one of the thousands with the engine failing. Its just excruciating to me that being my only vehicle for me and my kids. Why wouldnt BMW send us owners a notification of these problems in the engine before we spend so much money trying to find the problem without succeeding. This is outrageous.

I just purchased a new 2015 BMW 328i xDrive from my local BMW dealership about 6 months before I received a transmission fault warning and the car had rolled while in park into oncoming traffic crashing into a guardrail. Luckily the car rolled so slowly, it only caused very minimal scratches to the front bumper and no one was hurt. I made a complaint to BMW North America and had the car inspected. When I first left at the dealership, BMW let me know it would be looked at by the in house mechanics as well as their corporate team, and that they would keep me updated on the inspection progression. This process took over a month and when I inquired about the car, the dealership informed me the final corporate inspection was done 2 weeks prior to my inquiry; and that they were told someone in their corporate division was supposed to notify me of the report. Since no one would tell me what the status of my car was, I called the corporate office where I was told the car was looked at, and the mechanics were unable to find any significant faults or factory defects. Since no factory defects were found, BMW took no responsibility to what happened to my car, told me it was safe to drive and that they would sent me a report of the inspection.BMW never sent me the promised report of the inspection and I didnt not want the car back as it felt very unsafe. Ive owned the car only 6 months and put less than 4,000 miles on the car before this terrifying incident occurred. BMW told me the car was valued now at only $27,000 of the original $60,000 and would suffer the difference to return it.Before this car, I owned a 2003 325xi, which had a manufacturer recall in the driver and passenger seat heating system causing the seats to overheat. The seat heaters burned holes in each seat through the leather, burning my thigh in the drivers seat. I notified BMW of this and they told me they would only fix the burned drivers seat, not the burned passengers seat because the car was out of warranty, and that I was lucky they would even fix that.I made the mistake of buying a BMW not once but twice now, thinking they had well manufactured cars and mediocre customer service. Now I am certain they have unsafe cars and terrible if any customer service. I feel very generous giving BMW 1 star but 0 isnt an option. If you are looking to purchase a new or used BMW, do yourself a favor and buy an Audi instead.

I have never been more in love with a car! I’m still learning new things about this car and I’ve had it over a year now. When it comes to features, this car does not disappoint. I love the fact that it has an interior motion sensor and tilt sensor, you’ll know if anyone ever tries to jack your wheels. I love that this car has manual mode and sports program for performance driving. My car has been a very reliable car, still runs just as good as the day I bought it.

I have had my 2011 528I since 09-02-11. Its a great car. BMW advertises that the only thing you have to pay for is tires and gas. I complained about the $1900 NAV system, and that it was not very user friendly, and that my $200 Magellan was a much better device. I had gone to the dealer, asking for a software upgrade, as the device had trouble finding known businesses that I attempted to locate as a test of the system. I was told that it would cost me $400 for an upgrade (which they recommend 4 times a year). I can buy 2 Magellans with free lifetime upgrades for that price. When I complained to BMW USA, they told me they had no control over local dealers, and they could charge any price they wanted. So much for the Tires & Gas.

This is another long history with the great BMW dealership! So one day Im enjoying my BMX X5, you all know what Im talking about. Get a new car, and its a good feeling! UNTIL!!!! You start to Experience Issues. I just got a new BMW and dont know mechanics so you have to take it to a dealership. Now I take it to Chapman BMW, And remember I have a 2003 X5 its the 4.4. They came out with a Estimate Bill for $7800. I was like what!!! So I work on cars for a living and I know they full of you know what, when they say that number. Cause I fixed most of their list for under $1300. They get you with their labor 1st, then the parts! In capital letters SHAME on you BMW!! So then after all the parts and time to fix her. 4 months later I start to Smell of burning coming into my vents also a noise coming from the rear and sound like my rear differential. So I take it to BMW and they tell me I have no leaks nothing burning, everything is great. Well I take the car back thinking that BMW knows what theyre talking about, WRONG!!! I smell it again so I call my service advisor to tell him the same thing. I smelled the same smell and I hear the same noise so I take it back. So then two weeks later they get back to me saying that my transmission is making that noise and that smell is my valve covers leaking onto my headers which I had just done my valve covers. Tell them really? But before this you said I was good with no leaks? I tell them off a little cause they have no clue what theyre doing! Well they do cause their Ripping off all of us these insane prices! Ill make it short now! I pay $798 to fix the Smell they said, and the Transmission is going out! They said! Get the car back two months later and what do you know I smell the smell again! I paid them to do a job to take care of the smell and see what that noise was. Well smell everybody is called the oil separator, I changed it for $30 and fixed it myself! The noise is my rear diff, like I had told them before but they said trans! They need to make things right for what we pay!

I was told by an honest employee at BMW in GA that all plastic on the newer BMWs are recycled and sprayed on. I am now getting peeling plastic all over the inside of my car (2006 BMW 330i). My outside passenger lower panel is coming off because the screws are plastic and cheap and cant hold the panel, so the panel is falling off. My back window regulator which, again, is made of plastic, wont let me roll up my window. Once the window is down, its broken! It wont go back up!I hate BMWs. Like one mechanic told me, BMW has built these cars to break down. They dont want you getting 200,000 or 300,000 miles on them, any longer. They want them to be problematic so you take the car back to BMW for them to rip you off and say to hell with it, Ill buy another BMW! BMW is getting greedy, and they need to die a slow death. Im done!

My name is Nina ** and Im based out of Mumbai, India. After seeing the many advertisements on the television, I bought the very expensive BMW 7 series which cost me about 1 cr rupees. I bought the car in Nov 2009 and I have used it very carefully and sparingly without giving it to a single driver. The car has run only 18000 kms so far and has been regularly serviced by the authorized service centers of BMW on time as prescribed by the BMW company. Last month in July I drove my car from Mumbai to Pune and it was a rainy day. I parked my car and went to stay in a hotel overnight with all doors and windows completely shut. When I came to the car the next day, I found that my car was completely flooded with about 40-50 liters of water only on the left hand side of only the back side.We used 1 liter Bisleri bottles to remove and we removed water for about 2 hours manually from my 7 series BMW. When the water was completely removed, we started to drive back from Pune to Mumbai. Only drive back I noticed that the car was filling up again as fast as about 10 liters in 30 minutes so we stopped the car every 30 minutes to empty the car of the water. We were very worried for our life while this was happening as we were worried that the water in the car will interfere with the electricals of the car and the car could catch fire. However, when we returned, we sent the car to the authorized BMW service center - Navnit Motors. They told us that the water had filled up inside the car because apparently the car has some vent which sends the rain water out of the car. However this vent got choked so instead of the rain water going out of the car, it started coming inside the car. Now I dont understand this - as this is the basics of any car. I have never heard of something like going happening in even small segment cars like Tata Nano, Fiat Taxis, Hyundai i10, etc, Maruti 800, etc. I cant understand how a luxury car like BMW 7 series can get something so basic wrong wherein a car which is regularly serviced by the BMW authorized service centers can flood up during monsoon from inside and make its passengers do work like removing water from the car and throw it out of the window. Its supposed to be a luxury car which is supposed to give immense joy and that is why they are charging a hefty price for it. But what I have experienced is barely joy. Sir, I need your help in getting justice as BMW thinks that it is my fault that this has happened to me and they have raised a service repair bill of 38000 for this and along with it they have raised a bill for million other things which were not wrong in the car and they are saying that I need to pay them 150,000 rupees for random other jobs which are as crazy as this. Sir, how do you recommend that I get justice? I feel cheated by BMW as I feel that Ive been sold a faulty car and they are not responding to my email.

TOTAL COST OF REPAIRS SO FAR - CLOSE TO $11,000 = CLOSE TO 25% OF NEW CAR PURCHASE PRICE.I have in my life never ever seen 25% repair costs in first 75k miles on any car I have driven. Highly disappointed and speechless. Thought this was a high end, high quality German built car. I purchased a BMW 228i from a authorized BMW dealer and right after one year with 12000 miles on it the original Pirelli tires on the car split from the sidewall. I know for sure that I didnt hit the curb or anything and the car is always garaged. When I spoke with BMW they said they cant do anything about it and you need to contact dealer. So I contact my deal and he said since you didnt purchased any tire warranty with us we cant do any thing and you need to pay $400 to replace the tire. Since it was important I went ahead and spend $400 for just one tire. Now its a month passed and the exactly same thing happened on another tire and this time I again contacted BMW asking if there is any manufacturing defect with the tire or wheels. They opened the case and asked me that we will take 3 days to revert back with the case. Its already 1 week passed and they never bother to revert back to me on whats going on with the case. Couple of days back I called customer service and they said its being assigned to the service manager Matt ** in BMW and if you want you can call at his extension otherwise he will revert back to you. I called at his extension 3 times. Left a voice message but they just dont bother to at least call me back and tell me we are working on it. It feels like they just dont care about they customers, not sure if they are working in the office or not. THE MOST PATHETIC customer service from such a big company. Now that not over, this time I went to discount tires for this tire issue and they said if you are at tread count lower than 2/32 (which is 8/32 since the new tires are at 10/32) since you purchase the new car which and if it is a run flat tires Pirelli (Original tires from BMW) will replace it for free and if the tread count is lower than that (8/32) it will calculated as pro rated basis. They called Pirelli themselves and give me after pro rated calculation. They gave me $100 back and also replaced it with new tires. Now when this happened to my another tire neither BMW or their authorized dealer (Ralph ** BMW), that you will get the pro rated amount back. It felt like Ive been cheated by BMW and their authorized dealer.

We purchased a pre-owned certified BMW in Fresno, CA in April 2013. Within the first week we had problems with the electrical and our amp went out completely. We were told that it needed to be reset but it continued to fail. We had to take the car in 5 times before they replaced the amp. This was only the beginning of our problems. In the first year of ownership, we had multiply problems with the car including but not limited to: new air conditioning, rear door latch, interior door panel, oil leak. The biggest and most dangerous problem occurred on February 11, 2015. I was driving home on the freeway and I lost all power in the car. We were in the fast lane, going up a hill and suddenly no power! There were no warning lights of any kind, just complete power failure! I was able to pull over on the freeway and call the BMW service department in Fresno. I was told by my service adviser to simply turn off the car and it would reset. Upon my arrival back in Fresno, I took the car in to the BMW dealership for repair. After the car was there for a few days, I was told to pick up the car because the service department found nothing wrong with the transmission. Once again I drove the car and with my family in the car on the freeway, I lost complete power again! I took the car back to the service department and told them the car was unsafe to drive. I was given a loaner car. My car was in the service department for one month! My service adviser called me and said that there was nothing wrong with the car and to come and pick it up! I then called the service manager and customer relations with BMW corporate. I explained I could not drive this car because it was not safe for my family or any other driver on the road! It was then that they did an electronic test and determined that it needed a new transmission. On July 23, 2016, on our way to the central coast, the engine started making a horrible loud noise. I took it in to Coast BMW and they informed me my AC compressor was out, the wishbone was cracked and had to be replaced and they found 2 oil leaks. My car had been burning one quart of oil a month and the Fresno service department told me that was normal for an x5! The service advisor at Coast BMW told me my car was NOT SAFE to drive. We had to leave our car at the coast and rent a car home. These are all problems that should have been discovered by the Fresno service team because the car had been in several times. There is truly no excuse for BMW to put the lives of my family and the lives of others at risk. I trusted that I purchased the ultimate driving machine. These problems should NEVER happen to another family. Please be warned that BMW is willing to risk your life and your families lives to save a buck.

As I had initially paid more than I should have for the vehicle (including 4 free maintenance visits) I feel that the final visit should have been honored. I contacted BMW USA and they (unfortunately) will not allow any maintenance past the expiry date. This is a warning to others before you purchase a BMW - DO NOT MISS YOUR FINAL VISIT. I have owned my 1995 BMW 740i since I graduated High school and received it as a graduation gift. The car now has 145,000 miles on it and is still running. BUT along the way it has developed bad valves and valve guides, the transmission has started to shift hard sometimes and I believe it has developed a rod knock. Yes the car is exceptionally comfortable and all the electronics still work, and is very fun to drive for a 2.2 ton luxury sedan, but a $65,000 car should not have these kinds of issues at 145,000 miles. These cars are very complicated and do have problems as a result, but they should not be having MAJOR mechanical problems 3/4 of the way through their life. I also realize that if youre going to drop that kind of money on a car you should be able to afford the repairs, and luckily I can, but I shouldnt have to!! I just want a luxury car that isnt in the shop every week, my Mercedes was a COMPLETE piece of junk (and it was new) and my 3 year old Audis tanny went out at 56,000 miles. So its sad to say but honestly my BMW has been my most reliable, and thats not saying much.

Purchased a CPO 2006 X3 with 13K on it in 2006. Car now has 103K on it. First time buy of a BMW for us. Have owned many different brands (Ford, GM, Dodge, Audi, Honda) and I have never had anywhere near the range of problems that the BMW has had with any of them. Car was back at the dealer every 3 months like clockwork over a 3 year period for a different failure each time. Everything was fixed under the extended warranty that comes with the CPO cars (thanks God!!) and the dealer has been very good at fixing each problem. But due to the wide variety of failures, whatever confidence I had in the ultimate driving machine is long gone. Car is used for commuting to work daily for my wife and has always been garaged. The list of failures fixed under warranty: Torn engine mount, Sunroof controller failed, heated steering wheel failed (which also required a new airbag due to chaffed wires in the steering wheel), failed engine computer, failed rear wiper motor, water in the high mounted LED brake light, failed drivers seat position memory module, rear passenger door lock failed, broken rear coil spring and there is an oil leak around the oil filter housing (something that I learned is very common and an $800 repair at the dealer). The things that I had to fix myself once the car came off warranty: Failed front drive shaft CV joint because the boot cracked and slung out all the grease and the other rear coil spring broke. While replacing the drive shaft I found that the steel used in the car is very cheap. I sheared off a bolt head like it was made of butter while removing the front suspension strut. BMW makes very nice cards out of very poor materials. The interior of the car is not holding up too well either. The seat vinyl is cracking and some of the bezels around the switches in the door panels are peeling off a layer of plastic. Last BMW Ill ever buy.

I own BMW 2009 335i and had fuel injector went wrong. I took it to import car specialist and diagnosed/ready to be repaired when I read the article about the injector recall on 2010, previously produced BMW. I called toll free to confirm if that is true. A representative responded my call and told me it is not the recall, but they extended warranty and told me to take it to the dealership. I was about to spend $1700 at the import specialist, so I was so excited about it. I called repair shop right away and canceled the repair, and told them I just spoke BMW representatives and he said I have warranty. The repair guy congratulated me saving a lot and asked me to tow my car since the sounds are real unstable so I towed my car to dealership. They took my statement took my car.The next day, the dealership called me and told me I dont have warranty and call the company again to confirm. So I called the same number, the representative who answered my phone was so rude (and she will contact me several more times to tell me the exactly the same story) and asked my VIN number, and the VIN number I gave her doesnt have the warranty. I tried to explain to her what had happened a day before, but she wouldnt listen. She kept saying that she doesnt have any record of me calling, even if I copied my phone call photos and Verizon statement. Several uncomfortable conversations/emails/proof of BMW dealers statement of it saying I believed that the warranty was covered at the time of my vehicle was received at the dealership, they denied their responsibilities, and treated me like I am the liar.Who would go through that trouble not believing having warranty, paying $700 more than the imported specialist and towing and double dipping diagnostic fees. My car is still in dealers while I argued with them to admit their mistakes, but no apologies, but I became a liar of calling them, they couldnt find my number that morning calls... etc.I still dont have car two weeks later (still in the dealership) and wrote a last email, I gave up. All I can do is let my friends and family know what theyve done to me, how they treat their customers and encourage them not to be in a situations like me. It is not only pain to deal with people who doesnt believe me with all the evidence I presented, but also ignore their responsibilities of what they informed to their customers. I ended up will pay close to $2500 to change the problem injectors, but I ended up not suffering from them ever because I will never take my car to the dealership and never buy another BMW.I really regret my friends recommendation not to buy one years ago, all I would get is trouble... and yes. Anyone out there, know this. They will tell you, while looking at the image of your phone record, You never called us, we dont have a record of your number. Not honest, soon or later the business will pay the price for it. Just like our lives.

My first experience owning a 2009 BMW 535i: I recently took my vehicle to BMW of Columbus to have my in-tank electric fuel pump and a sensor repaired. I spent $1,254.00 to have it repaired. I picked up my car on Sept. 14, 2012. Shortly afterward, I was traveling north on I-185 and suddenly my check engine light came on. I began losing power and it started hesitating as well. It appears to be the same initial problem I had and thought it was fixed. Here I am now dropping my car off to a closed (late Friday evening) BMW dealer for repairs. I had plans to go on a vacation and now once again I cant go anywhere. I have never had this to happen to me. Its unbelievable! You dont expect this from a BMW. I hope they can get right the second time around and according to all the articles I have read (which I should have done my homework before I purchased it), 2009 BMW 535i are having a lot of fuel issues that should have been addressed and now as the consumer, I guess I have to suffer now. I think BMW needs to do more about the 535i fuel problems. I took my car in to BMW of Columbus. They initially diagnosed my car with the in-tank electric fuel pump and a sensor. I had that repaired for $1,254.00 and I was not happy with the bill because the 535I was notorious for having awful fuel problems. Shortly after I had it fixed, my car check engine light came back on and I had a sudden loss of power. And while this was happening, I am saying to myself this cannot be happening to me again. This was the second time I took my car to BMW of Columbus and it took them several days to find the problem. From my understanding, the 535Is injectors had a recall and they were checked and removed by a BMW tech, removed, refitted, scanned and possibly replaced but I am not sure. However, BMW of Columbus tech discovered that the last fuel injector closes to firewall of engine. One of the injectors bolt, which holds the injector down, was broken off into the engine block. The tech who performed it tried to cover it up by screwing an oversize bolt over the top of the broken bolt. The recall was done on Oct. 17, 2011 at 50,408 from center ID: 23055, but I purchased the car from Roswell Mitsubishi of Atlanta, Georgia at approximately 57,000. According to Stephane **, service consultant from BMW of Columbus, he stated that he spoke to the BMW dealer service manager from center ID: 23055, which performed N54 injector check (B131410). He claimed that if they did do it, the car should have malfunctioned before now. I got a chance to look at the area where the oversize bolt was, on the engine block. It was damaged all around the engine block with chips missing around it. This is the second week I am without my car and I have not heard from BMW customer service specialist Jodi. I sent Jodi another email, asking her to please contact me and I have yet to hear anything as of Sept. 26, 2012.I made another call on July 27, 2012 to North America BMW customer relations. I was able to get in contact with Jodi (who is handling my complaint). I left message on her voicemail. Stephane ** from BMW of Columbus called and left a message on my cellphone and he wanted to know something because he had not heard anything from North America BMW. It has been over the three to five business days and I have yet to hear from Jodi. As of today (Oct. 1, 2012), I have not heard anything from my customer representative Jodi.

Im owner of BMW X6 5,0 Xdrive (2009). I bought this car like a new one. This is my third BMW. After 63 000km BMW service-car repair-a new engine. Because the car big, oil losses. After this repair many times Engine Fault on my board computer BMW X6. After Engine Fault a complete loss of power. Very danger! Every time in BMW service they told me... Dont worry.. we will repair it. After BMW service -car repair - a new both turbo there - but next ENGINE FAULT, BMW service-car repair- a new injections there - but next ENGINE FAULT, BMW service-car repair- a new cylinders, but next ENGINE FAULT, BMW service-car repair-a new injections again, but next ENGINE FAULT. BMW service-car repair-fuel pump, but next ENGINE FAULT... BMW service-car repair both catalysts and more other parts... but ENGINE FAULT.. is still again and again there! The inappropriate condition of the car (BMW X6 5,0 xi) has several times put not only the lives of my family and me at risk but threatened also the lives of other drivers on the road. All these extremely risky situations were caused by repeated errors in the engine when in use followed by a complete loss of power. Dont buy BMW, if you love your life and your family!

2003 BMW 745LI - Went to open the trunk as usual, heard the click but the trunk didnt open. I noticed that there was some give and take, however the latch would not disengage and lift open. The instrument panel says trunk open. Thats because technically the trunk is unlocked but the latch will not disengage. Took car to BMW Santa Monica. They kept my car overnight and charged me $175 to tell me to go to a body shop because they were unable to open the trunk. BMW Santa Monica made the issue worse by pushing down on the trunk and totally locked the latch. Now it is solidly closed. I called the body shop BMW Santa Monica recommended and was told that its a very long process to open a BMW trunk. I contacted another body shop and was told that they have to remove the back seats to get to the trunk. I dont know where to go. I have 2 work computers, groceries (all gone bad), clothes and medicine in trunk.

I bought a 2003 Dinan 525i used with ~60K on it. In the last 7 years Ive logged another 180K+ on it. While I have had to do repairs (I work on it myself) it is nothing out of the ordinary; tires, brakes, coolant system rebuild (pump, radiator, fan clutch, overflow tank and pulleys/belt), alternator, O2 sensors, vanos seals and intake rubber ducting, all gearbox fluids changed. It is all to be expected for a car of this age. I have no complaints as the car has served me well. Some interior trim has broken or weathered and has been replaced, and the sunroof tracks will get replaced this summer. I am getting it detailed to celebrate its 250K milestone. This car owes me nothing! It has served me well and I have no indication that its getting tired.

Between replacing wheels and tires the electrical problems are mounting up. Now I hear clunking from the transmission. I have had injectors replaced two times, fuel pump two times, rear tail lights, one front headlight and I wish I could only tell you about the gremlins with the seat belt, turning the wheel and having the phone call someone. Having the roof not open and close properly. You wouldnt believe.

I bought a 2006 BMW 750i CPO. I bought the car with only 39000 miles on it. I have 67000 miles now. I was told the car had 6 years and 100000 miles of warranty on it. When I called about another problem with the car, was told the cars warranty had elapsed. I told them the car was warrantied until 2012. The dealer told me the car was bought in 2005 even though it is a 2006 model and that it had expired. I informed them that the sales person told me the car was warrantied until 2012 and not 2011. They will not honor any warranties. Since purchasing the car, I have been in the shop for Thermostat problem, lighting problem, fluid leak problem from transmission and coolant, steering column problem, etc. I called the dealer and National BMW and nobody will help me. The transmission now has a warning light. If I replace transmission it will cost $5k to $7K.

BMW 2011 x535i Premium Problems - I purchased this car new 2 years ago. My
BMW 2011 x535i Premium Problems - I purchased this car new 2 years ago. My car boiled at 12,520 mi. in New Mexico, was towed to Tucson At 2 am for 1.5 hrs. Tucson BMW - requested them to drain and measure oil. They refused! BMW book for owners states: Too little or too much oil can damage engine and/or transmission. BMW doesnt care. In Sept. 2013, got front brakes at Escondido BMW, CA. They refused to change the rotors that were badly rusted and below specs until I returned to the BMW shop after taking it to a German shop to see if they did the work. They didnt. Upon returning, I was able to force them to change the rotors. Since purchasing the BMW, the car hesitates and jerks for about two blocks before driving right. The car emergency parking brake is designed to ruin the transmission if it isnt applied in a certain order. There is a pin in the brake that will pop if not set right and if it breaks off, you need a new transmission! $$$$. The leather is cheap and thin. I am a single retired woman that doesnt drive daily. My seat is worn as if it had 60,000 mi. on it, instead of 29,000! I also paid an extra $1,300 for contour seats, but the ride is so hard, you become a bobble Head with a headache if you arent driving on very smooth highways! My entire rear muffler system arrived totally rusted when brand new. BMW has a 10-yr. Rust warranty, but refuses to honor it! Windshield was defective in the 20,000 mi. range. BMW refused to honor their Windshield warranty also... My cost: $903! The glare from defects blinded me. Navigation went out three times, blank red, then all in German language... Acktune? Attention! Etc. My AM-FM and Sirius also went blank. If they cant replicate it at that moment, they wont fix it and dont care. Navigation works, but also is defective and often tells you the wrong way to turn, so you also have to rely on N, S, W, E. When you buy the car new, they want you to pay hundreds to update your navigation. It does not come updated!!!Gas mileage is not good like they claim. Neither is the twin turbo engine. I was told by a Vista BMW dealer mgr. that I need to add a qt of oil every 2,000 Miles. I dont think that is in the manual either. The oil seals go bad often, claims a BMW mechanic. When BMW was being taken apart by BMW rep at Encinitas BMW, they scratched my rear side bumper! They also did not put the car back together right and frequently called to tell me the car was ready when they had not performed the work, causing multiple trips to dealers and much aggravation and gas.Filed a lemon law in NJ where I bought the car. If I had purchased it in Calif. BMW would have bought the car back; but all they want to give me is $8,000, which is standard for any lemon law complaint in OH and NJ unless the car quits and is a life threat or injury from malfunction is proven. Someone in Munich had my same vin# except for last 5 nos. Their car stopped in the middle of the highway, lost all power and brakes! This happens to some BMW owners of X5s. At the time I purchased the car, I thought I loved it. Now that I own it, and have researched all problems with this model. It states in Car magazines this is the 2nd worst SUV for 2011 and is on the Do not buy list because of all major problems. This car sticker: $63,225. Worth: 0 in safety and reliability and service at BMW! BMW does not honor their warranties! If you file a lemon on BMW, be aware they add code 13 on their confidential Store copy of your invoice. This means the dealer must contact BMW Corp. in NJ., who in turn tells the dealer to do nothing except oil changes and they told me their hands were tied! BMW corporate just did a fabulous remodel for $100 million in New Jersey. It seems nobody can make them honor their worthless warranties! My recommendation: Do not buy this car unless you are a European mechanic. BMW does not tell you to buy a software update program for $325 or your car may totally fail leaving you helpless and frightened when it shuts down. Locks are iffy. Sometimes they work, but they seem easy to break into. Remote battery fails frequently and all BMW does is temp. charge it. BMW can erase all the codes on your car if they dont want you to know what is really wrong.I had German shop run 3 pgs. of codes that were bad on my new car. BMW Ohio kept these records. They were mostly camera errors. If you can find a German shop to run codes on your car, then you will know what is really wrong. BMW will never admit to any failures and paid millions in fines to NHSTA because they refuse to turn in complaints to the national board according to the law in the time frame regulated for the first few years on any BMW! Why are they allowed to get away with breaking the law????? And why cant they be made to Honor all their warranties, which you pay for in the price of the car and is an Incentive to purchase the car? Prestige BMW in NJ also failed to give us the $2,500 holiday credit incentive they promised! And it took two months to get the privacy cover that came with the car new! You be the judge! Please consult Carcomplaints.com; NHTSA 2011 X5 problems and recalls; Recallowl.com for more info on autos. I hope this is helpful to others.

I have had my BMW for 3 years and it was time to turn in my lease. Autovin had come to my house and inspected the car - they reported no problems at all to me. Called BMW FS to confirm that everything was fine a few days later and was informed that everything was good to go and I could turn in the car. I return the car a few days later to BMW Freehold & that evening I called BMW FS to inform them I dropped off the car and that I had fulfilled all responsibility on my end including paying for mileage overages. At that time, the representative advised I had to pay $300 for a tire that was 3 on the tread since they allow 4 and above. This was complete news to me & I called spoke to manager Asha ** who was the least bit helpful and all she could say was, Sorry, we cannot do anything else. I spoke to another supervisor Erin ** who also had no authority to make any changes & said this is how it is. It would have been nice to been informed of any wear on the tire as I could have replaced it myself and saved $200. I am about to get a new BMW in two weeks but definitely will not get that anymore. Word to the wise - DO NOT LEASE FROM BMW, they will screw you at the end and wont tell you about it until later when you are helpless.
