Alfa Romeo Stelvio Spotted With Tonale Headlights

Despite it receiving an extensive update for the 2022 model year, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio has been spotted wearing subtle exterior enhancements covered up by light camouflaging. In the picture below from the Alfisti Facebook page, the Italian SUV can be seen with slimmer headlights, not unlike the examples found on the recently revealed Tonale crossover. The Torinese carmaker is likely readying its larger SUV for a much-needed facelift, bringing the Stelvio in line with its attractive sibling. The front bumper and signature trefoil grille appear unchanged, but masking around the grille surround may hint at a slight design change. The attractive wheels also seem to be new items. The overall body styling remains which is no bad thing because as far as SUVs go, the Stelvio is quite a looker. First seen on the Tonale, Alfa says the slimmer headlights are inspired by the gorgeous SZ Coupe of the early '90s. The 2022 updates were substantial but limited to trim and equipment upgrades, which brought forth a host of standard driver assists such as active cruise control, lane departure warning, and active blind-spot assist. Heated front and rear seats as well as navigation, among other things, were also included as standard. The spec increase did result in a price hike, with the '22 Stelvio priced at $2,140 more than the outgoing model. While attractive, Alfa knows it has to keep its range looking fresh if it wants to compete with more established luxury brands. Perhaps we can expect a new interpretation of the grille and additional styling updates to the rear. The Tonale boasts a de rigueur light bar round back, something that would work rather well on the Stelvio and, indeed, the inevitable Giulia facelift. With a starting MSRP of $45,550, the Stelvio is available with just two engine options. Sprint, Ti, and Veloce trims receive the same turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 280 horsepower and 306 lb-ft of torque. The high-performance Quadrifoglio gains an awe-inspiring, Ferrari-sourced 2.9-liter V6 with twin turbos. The X3 M rival boasts 505-hp and 443 lb-ft, allowing it to hit 60 mph in 3.6 seconds. As part of Alfa's electrification strategy, the Stelvio will probably gain a variation of the Tonale's plug-in hybrid system. In the smaller SUV, a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder is paired with a 90-kW electric motor to produce a total output of 272 hp and an electric-only range of 30 miles. If this is indeed part of the brand's plan, you can bet on the Stelvio receiving a brawnier powertrain. Pivoting toward electromobility is essential for the struggling brand and we hope it succeeds in selling loads of SUVs, making plenty of money, and finally returning to the investment-heavy sports cars the brand is remembered for.

I bought a new Stelvio Milano Editzione in September 2019.In May 2021 the brake pad warning light illuminated at 8,500 miles.Given the mileage, I assumed it was a fault with the warning light.When I took the car to my nearest dealer I was informed that the rear discs were heavily worn and pitted and that the rear pads had less than 1mm of friction material left. They also confirmed that they wouldnt be covered under the cars 5 year warranty which had been a key consideration in my buying process.The replacement cost was 575.I asked them to clarify why the rear pads and discs were effectively destroyed after only 8,500 miles, while the fronts - which do the bulk of the stopping - were virtually brand new.They were unable to provide an answer.As I needed the car back, I paid the repair bill and kept the displaced discs and pads for the inevitable argument.After contacting Alfa Romeo UK and eventually threatening them with court action, they agreed in writing on the 4th June to cover the replacement cost of the discs and 50% of the pads, amounting to 430.I provided them with my bank details on the 5th June.On the 6th July I had still not received the refund so emailed them again.On the 8th July I received a reply confirming that my refund would be made within 28 days.Perhaps predictably, this didnt happen.I therefore emailed them again on the 6th August which generated a call back to tell me they �couldnt find a director to sign off my refund.�I spent 50,000 with Alfa Romeo, yet after two months they apparently cant rustle up a 430 refund, as promised in writing???After a further month of getting the runaround but no money, Im now at the point where I feel I have no choice but to recover the monies via the courts.Alfa, I love my Stelvio. It does everything I want. its practical; quick; good in snow; and other than the brakes, has been utterly faultless.However what you laughingly refer as a premium brand customer service, truly stinks.So sad.

Their overpriced STELVIO 2019 13k miles let me down twice already for battery related problems. Electrical needed 2 trips to the garage and is still not working. Paint coming off the bumper and fuel van deforming. 1 day waiting and counting for being rescued after another electrical fail. 7 phone calls to an indifferent customer service could not spare me from waiting such a long time .... and that would be a Premium brand ? Alfa Romeo ... all show and no go,
